Thora Sa Aasman Episode 13 14 Review – Interesting Developments!

0

Ohkay so, these episodes of Thora Sa Aasman were quite engaging & interesting. The consistent pace has always remained the strength of this drama. The director surely has given it a perfect treatment & there are no loopholes in the direction that were necessary for such a serious themed drama.

So, finally Rakshi showed her true colors & now when she saw how secure Mansoor made her in this relationship, she started exploiting his trust on her too. Rakshi ended up telling Ambar that Mansoor married her, while she had no reason to because she was at this stage where Mansoor could never throw her out of his life despite the suggestions of his wife or daughter. Rakshi very conveniently twisted the truth in front of Mansoor, which showed that she is in this relationship only for herself and not for any other reason, not even Mansoor.

The moment Muneeza and the entire family finds out about Rakhsi & Mansoor’s marriage, the hell breaks loose & everyone starts questioning Mansoor followed by blaming Ambar for bringing Rakshi into their lives, only to destroy everything. Muneeza thinks just by bribing Rakshi, she will be able to save her marriage only to find out that Rakshi had some other intentions too. Rakshi never wanted to share her husband, infact she never wanted to share his wealth, that is why she tells Mansoor to divorce Muneeza. Mansoor actually proved that he was a simple minded person who could easily get manipulated that is why he ended up doing what Haroon Kamal & Rakshi told him to do. If Mansoor had known that Haroon Kamal was the wrong support system he was depending upon, he would’ve never ever allowed a conniving man like Haroon Kamal to make a fool out of him. Mansoor ended up divorcing Muneeza while also estranging his beloved child Ambar. Safiya & Roshaan stay with Mansoor only to see what Mansoor would do, but they are left shattered when they see Rakshi in their home.

Looks like Zarka is going to make an appearance again. She might pursue her singing career & I am sure she will very soon come across Haroon Kamal. Shahista’s search for her son continues & they get a step closer by finding out that the couple who adopted him ended up giving him to a woman named Fatima. The scene where Shaheer, Saani & Samar run into Haroon Kamal was done really well. That was the moment where Samar felt some sort of attraction towards Haroon & for obvious reasons. It seems Nayab has developed some feelings for Samar due to which she gets irritated the moment Haroon tells her to judge him according to to his social standing.

Samar, Saani & Shaheer have no idea what Fatima is hiding from them & what their life has in store for them too. Fatima has done well as a mother & she has shaped the characters of her children really well. It would be hard to see them falling apart because of Haroon Kamal’s shadow in their lives. Haroon has wrecked Mansoor’s life & I am sure, the tables will turn & Karma will play its part on him too. Haroon thinks he has a strong hold on his life & his destiny & everything that he has done won’t bite him but he will be proven wrong & I can’t wait to see that happen.

Overall, these two episodes were done well. I know the way things unfolded, they had to be conveyed through a lot of screaming & yelling but there came a time probably after 2 scenes or so where I had to mute the TV because I couldn’t handle all the noise. All the actors conveyed the feelings of their characters really well & the director did a great job too. I hate to say it again but I didn’t like Yasra Rizvi as Fatima in this episode too, may be because I had a lot of expectations attached to her character that I am left feeling disappointed every single time I see her character being spoiled because of such a substandard performance. Anyways, please share your thoughts about these episodes of Thora Sa Aasman.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Bin Roye Episode 3 Review – Well-Paced & Entertaining

This was another well-paced episode of Bin Roye which had at least one unexpected development to its credit which added an interesting twist to the story and started a new chapter in the lives of all the primary characters. Even though this episode was not perfect but the best thing about Bin Roye so far is that it is a light family drama. Also, there are no heroes or villains in this drama which makes the characters easy to relate to. The positivity in the females leads in particular is also very refreshing. It was truly refreshing watching someone like Saba who is possessive and stubborn accepting Saman as her sister wholeheartedly. Things will of course change in the next episode but that does not change the fact that Saba’s character has only one flaw – she cannot share Irtiza with anyone at all – other than that she is not a negative person ; she does not get jealous and knows how to appreciate others which goes to show that she is not an insecure individual in general. Saba’s concern for Saman and the way she supported her went to show that she had a very loving and caring side to her personality. Mahira Khan and Hamayun Saeed were stars of the show tonight. Mahira Khan hasn’t only done complete justice to her role but you look forward to Saba’s scenes because of her. Hamayun Saeed’s overall personality is very well-suited for the character he is playing. Irtiza does not have a very complicated personality, he is a simple and nice person and Hamayun Saeed manages to pull that off effortlessly. One aspect of Irtiza’s personality which was continuously reinforced throughout this episode was that he is a very responsible person who takes his duties seriously.

Irtiza came back after finishing his studies and when dadi mentioned that Irtiza should get married now, Saba said something which was rather serious and definitely shocking for someone who was not anticipating something like this yet dadi ignored it completely perhaps because even though Saba is doing her masters now, no one takes anything she says seriously. Even then this was an important scene which most viewers were looking forward to but it lacked substance and had no impact. Why was this scene showed if it was going to have zero impact on the developments in tonight’s episode?

The first half of this episode was perfect but in the second half the editing was choppy and there were scenes in which there was no continuation whatsoever. The two scenes after Saman came back to Pakistan and the family secret was revealed to her came out of nowhere and had zero continuation. One second Saman was sitting there with no make-up looking like someone who was going through hell and the other second she was sitting with Maliha in full make-up sharing her feelings. As if this was not enough in the next scene she was wearing a completely different outfit and by the time she was in bed she was wearing another shirt which made you wonder if all of this was transpiring in one night! Saba and Saman’s scene however was emotional and marked the perfect beginning to their relationship. Saba’s reaction came as a pleasant surprise. Saman does not have a lot of dialogues which is actually working out well since Armeena Rana Khan’s dialogue delivery is usually not very convincing. Saman is a quiet and sensitive girl who is also multitalented. Saman and Irtiza’s growing interest in each other was also shown through brief scenes therefore it is somewhat difficult to relate to the connection between the two just yet. Their scenes have been lifeless and somewhat repetitive whereas the scenes in which Saba and Irtiza interact are full of energy. Saba has a strong relationship with her dadi and their scenes always put a smile on my face. These scenes also suggested that Saba is more close to her dadi than her mother.

Overall, This was another simple yet effective episode of Bin Roye. Every scene in this episode added something new to the story. Bin Roye does not have any powerful dialogues to its credit neither does it have characters which would leave a huge impact but it manages to hold your interest. The preview of the next episode showed that Saba noticed Irtiza and Saman’s interest in one another. I am waiting to find out how this character which has been very positive so far will change after making this discovery.

How many of you watched this latest installment of Bin Roye? Do share your thoughts about it.

Romantic Scenes in our plays are given too much liberty

There was a time when Pakistani dramas were known for their quality content more than their boldness. Families still gather in front of the television at 8pm hoping that they will get to see the same kind of quality content which Pakistanis were so used to watching at one time. Most often however the romantic scenes in the dramas are so bold that they make the viewers cringe and make it impossible for them to watch these scenes with their families. There were dramas like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Hamsafar and others in the recent past which showed romance without going overboard but most of the dramas nowadays cross the limits which were once the benchmark of Pakistani dramas. Dramas in the recent past which did not have such scenes were less controversial and more hit which proved that people would much rather watch romantic scenes which are meaningful but not bold.

The Pakistani Censor Board should have a strict policy to ensure that such scenes are chopped down in the Censor process and as a result people can be sure that when they sit to watch Pakistani dramas they will get wholesome family entertainment.

Trailer & Release date of “Abdullah – The Final Witness”, Film on Kharotabad Incident

0

After a long delay finally the film ABDULLAH is ready to hit the cinemas on 21st October. The movie is based on the incident of Kharotabad. The incident is about the deaths of five unarmed foreigners at an FC checkpoint in Quetta. The film was delayed due to the censor board objections as they considered the content bit controversial.

It’s been three years that the film was under production. The film is featuring Hameed Sheikh, Imran Abbas and Sadia Khan. Regarding the objection of censor board the director Hashim Nadem shared that they wanted the climax scene to be blurred but that could affect the movie therefore we re-shot the entire scene and now the issue is resolved.

The Kharotabad incident 2011 has been discussed and criticized on the national and international media, regarding how this film will show the incident the director Nadeem said, “The film actually revolves around Abdullah, who was the driver driving the foreigners, and how the incident affected his life. It shows the aftermath, the consequences of what happened. But, of course, the film’s backdrop is the incident.”

The director shared that through this film they have tried to reduce the intensity of criticism which the incident has caused. “There has been a lot of negative reports and propaganda revolving around the incident. With this film, we have tried to clear that out and send a positive message.”

Good luck to the team of Abdullah!

Tum Kon Piya Episode 28 Review – Must-Watch!

Wow! Loved this episode and the fact that all the tracks are being wrapped meticulously with every passing episode. Tum Kon Piya is one of those dramas which continue to entertain you and it also has a very solid storyline. The writer Maha Malik has written a script which is very well-thought-out and director Yasir Nawaz has a strong grip on the story and character as well, which is why Tum Kon Piya keeps you entertained and gives you a reason to look forward to the upcoming episodes. There was a time when the story came to a standstill but these past few weeks have been very happening. There are so many dramas on air nowadays that viewers are spoilt for choice therefore when a drama manages to hold your interest in this way for so many weeks than in my eyes it is a complete success. This isn’t one of those dramas which banks on star power also but the solid storyline and the way it has been executed is the primary reason why so many of us are still watching and enjoying Tum Kon Piya.

The most important development in this latest episode was Ramish and Neha’s marriage. All the reasons given by Tamkanat and Ramish’s father were convincing enough and ultimately both Ramish and Neha decided to get married only because they wanted what was best for Elma. Sunbal’s decision showed how wise she was and she was right when she said that she had learned to sacrifice her love for others from Ramish. Ramish’s character has been brilliantly etched-out, he has many positive points but he has some weaknesses as well. His biggest weakness is the love he feels for Elma which does not allow him to do justice to other people in his life. The scene at the breakfast table after 5 years of being married to Neha and later on Neha’s conversation with her Aapi went to show that Neha and Ramish were living a lie. They got married but Ramish never accepted Neha as his wife. 5 years is a long time to move on but apparently Ramish has not been able to do so maybe because he feels that he does not deserve to be happy because of the state Elma is in.

fotorcreated

Zarbab’s sudden plans to go to England were somewhat unbelievable, if he was moving to somewhere in far East it would have been more convincing. Anyway, he moved away and out of Elma’s life forever thinking his wife had cheated on him. He was always shown as someone who had shocking double standards therefore watching him justify his own actions in front of his sister did not come as a surprise. Ali Abbas has been phenomenal as Zarbab. Imran Abbas also owned his character in this episode, his dialogue delivery, expressions and body language was perfect. Shameen Khan has also played her part really well especially ever since Neha moved into Ramish’s house her character has been much more likeable too. Azra Muhiuddin is another actress who has proved her talent and versatility in this drama especially because right now the condition which Tamkanat Begum is in is not an easy one to translate on screen. Exceptional acting by all the actors is another reason why all the characters and happenings have been easy to relate to.

This episode was emotional, convincing and covered a great deal in limited time. It ended at the perfect note, leaving the viewers wondering where Arif was and why was he willing to admit that he lied. Zarbab would never have been convinced that Elma was innocent until Arif admitted it himself therefore it would be good to see what condition he is in right now and the reason behind this change of heart. He could be in the prison or the mental asylum, I can’t think of any other place which would have the same shock value.

The preview of the next episode showed Zarbab running after the ambulance in which Elma was being taken to the hospital. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

How many of you watched this latest episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

Indian cinema owners officially boycott films with Pakistani actors

The Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) on Friday announced that movies featuring Pakistani actors won’t be screened in single screen theaters in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat.

The decision comes ahead of the scheduled release of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. While it was slated to hit the screens on October 28, the COEAI decision has cast doubts if it will see the light of the day any time soon in western India.

COEAI President Nitin Datar told IANS : “We have nothing against Karan Johar. It’s just that we won’t allow the release of any film which will have Pakistani actors or technicians in it.”

The COEAI has over 400 members. “We have collectively taken this decision that we won’t showcase such films in our single screens. As of now, we will be following this decision in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat,” Datar added.

The decision comes amid India-Pakistan tensions. “We can’t say we are banning these films. It’s just that we are suspending all these films,” said Datar.

“In future, if our (India’s) relationship with Pakistan gets better, we will work towards it. But looking at the current scenario, we have to take this decision,” he added.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had earlier warned Pakistani actors to quit India and said it would not let movies — including Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees — to release.

Following that, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association had passed a resolution to disallow Pakistani artistes from working in Indian films.

In response, Pakistani exhibitors had reportedly decided not to screen Indian films in their cinemas.

Fawad Khan – Biography, Family, Wedding, Wife, Son, Daughter, Movie, Dramas

Dil Banjaara Episode 1 Review – A Good Beginning

Writer: Faiza Iftikhar
Director: Siraj-ul-Haque
Produced by: Momina Duraid Productions & Naughty Forty Productions
Schedule: Friday 8pm HUM TV
Cast: Adnan Malik, Sanam Saeed, Mira Sethi, Sharmeen Kashif, Sakina Sammo, Ainy Zaidi (Noor Ul Ain Zaidi), Hina Bayat, Samina Ahmed, Munawwar Saeed, Daniyal Afzal, Madiha Rizvi and Others.

The best thing about this first episode was that it did not belong to one character or actor alone but all the leading characters made their presence felt. Also, this was not a typical first episode although the opening scene wasn’t new; showing how the mornings started for both Sikandar (Adnan Malik) and Nida (Sanam Saeed), but the real difference was that their mornings weren’t too different and neither were they identical. The director simply introduced the main characters and the supporting ones which will be playing an important part in the story in a subtle way which is always a great way to start a show. There are many times when writers and directors think that the viewers are not intelligent enough to pick up the cues and very often they end up spoon-feeding every tiny detail to the viewers which kills the creative element in dramas. That was most definitely not the case with this first episode. Also, I remember two dramas in particular in which the characters were introduced in a similar manner, Durr-e-Shahwar and Zard Mausam, and I remember it only too well that the households which were covered in the opening scenes were complete opposites so although it has been done before but this time around it was done differently. When you are watching a play written by Faiza Iftikhar, you can be sure of two things; the characters will not be black and white and there will always be variation in the characters.

Most of the viewers might not know that Sikandar’s character is inspired from a real life photographer which makes it even more interesting. In this first episode the viewers were told that Sikandar was brought up by his mother’s friend (Ainy Zaidi) after his mother passed away, that is all we know about his background so far. Sikandar’s present personality however was revealed in different scenes in tonight’s episode. He is a passionate photographer who loves natural landscape but he also feels that this natural landscape can only come alive in photographs when there is some “life” in it – meaning human presence. This particular aspect of Sikandar’s personality showed that even though his camera was his best friend and he loved nature but this was in no way a replacement for humans in his life. Sikandar is carefree and he lives life to the fullest but he also values human aspect of life. Shama (Mira Sethi) is someone he grew up with and both of them are very close to one another, she is the human who adds life to his photographs therefore she is very special.  By the end of the episode however Sikandar had a new definition of “zindagi” in his photography. It seemed like Shama does a lot of things so that she can be with Sikandar but she does not necessarily have similar interests. Shama’s mother is a single mother who runs a cafe, she understands that her daughter shares a special bond with Sikandar. The scene in which she talks to Sikandar about getting married seemed like the first big misunderstanding of this drama. The light manner in which Sikandar took that question and the reply he gave without giving it a second thought once again showed that he did not think things through before making a commitment. Shama’s mother and Shama thought he was committing to getting married to her but it didn’t look like he was doing that.

banjara

Nida wakes up early in the morning just like Sikandar and her interests are very similar to him as well. Although Nida has been raised in a very strict household but her father’s support has given her the confidence and freedom she needed to have a personality very different from that of other women in the house. She managed to go to college, something which is looked down upon by her taya (Munawwar Saeed) who has a stronghold in the house. The inclusion of Hina Bayat’s character in the show proves my point about the variation in characters. Hina Bayat is a versatile actress who impresses you with her performance every time therefore I am looking forward to watching more of her. Also, it seemed like her character will be a very interesting one. The “adha pait” scene in particular was hilarious. All of her scenes went to show that she wasn’t like most people her age. The relationship between Nida and her father was highlighted in this episode; their closeness and Nafees’ support and love for his daughter were the two major aspects of their relationship.

Nida and Sikandar’s first “meeting” was anything but run-of-the-mill although the outcome it seemed was love at first sight. Nida loves nature, she wants to explore the world some day and she loves poetry therefore she has more in common with Sikandar than with anyone else. Sakina Samo plays the role of the know-it-all phupo whose son is engaged to Nida.

banjara

This first episode was definitely up to the mark even with a few glitches here and there which could easily be ignored. In one of the opening scenes Nida’s father asks “Nashta lag gaya” she says, “jee bilkul aba.”  But after that we saw the women in the house struggling to make nashta and they were clearly running late. Adnan Malik was cute and convincing as Sikandar, there were times when he seemed to be struggling with those long verbose dialogues but he managed to pull it off and introduced Sikandar’s character in a likeable manner. Mira Sethi performance in this first episode was right on point unlike her acting in Jhoot which recently ended. Sanam Saeed played her character well with the exception of one scene in which Nida was describing to her friend her love for nature and exploring. The director Siraj-ul-Haq managed to show a great deal in this first episode and did so with precision. There were quite a few scenes in this episode which were beautifully shot and there were plenty of different locations in the drama unlike some dramas in which you feel like the entire serial was shot in two houses. The number one reason for tuning into this show was that it has been written by Faiza Iftikhar and secondly the main protagonist of the show is not a female but a male.

Nida’s fiancé will be introduced in the next episode and it seemed like Shama will have an accident because of which she might not be able to go with Sikandar.

Intezaar Episode 19 Review – 2 Biwis Ka Iklota Shauhar!

0

Are you kidding me? Not only are Shariq and Zoya gobsmacked at Saba’s antics in this episode – I mirrored the same expression while watching it! The swift change in Saba’s attitude and her reactions are so totally unrelatable that it seriously seems that the writer herself seemed to go through some strange phases where she started off with Azmeer and Zoya’s story and then woke up one morning and started another with Shariq and Saba’s story and then remembered the first and merged it and then thought oh crap, where is this all going and turned Saba into a I -do- not- know- what and hence this story has begun. I mean, really!

Saba as we earlier knew her was a withdrawn girl, traumatized by memories from her past and afraid of venturing out of the house and meeting any strangers. Now? Now Saba who apparently can not even pour a cup of tea properly, manages to don a sari and happily announce she wants to go to a party with Shariq. This sudden change in behaviour along with the sudden jealousy that has consumed her is so unrealistic. If only Saba had been shown to develop feelings for Shariq but felt unsure, and she herself was not the one to urge Zoya to marry Shariq then – given I could also conveniently forget Saba’s childhood trauma as the writer has done-  maybe this jealous Saba would be easier to understand.

pic1

Saba does not like that Shariq is paying attention to Zoya and not her. Whereas until he got married to Zoya all she ever wanted was that Shariq stay far away from her and not speak to her or even look at her. There was all the drama of Sherry Bhai ganday hain, ganday tareeqay se dekhtay hain and now Saba dolls up so that he may look at her appreciatively. He grabs her hand thinking she is Zoya and instead of recoiling and yelling at him which she had been doing earlier, she does not seem to mind at all. Nothing had changed between her and Shariq, there had been no moments spent together bringing them closer in any way, therefore this sudden jealousy and no fear of Shariq anymore just because he has married Zoya when she so graciously in fact obsessively handed him over to Zoya herself makes no sense.

It would have been interesting to see how Saba reacted when she and Shariq went out for dinner. Being with him in the car, being in a restaurant amongst strangers – things which gave her serious anxiety earlier but apparently she seemed to have taken in stride now. This new Saba is now not only dangerous for those around her, such as when she burned Zoya’s hand but also harmful to herself. I did however find myself agreeing to the bit Mamu and Maami said about Shariq not paying Saba any attention because now all his attention is focused on Zoya. Please note I do not mean the ‘biwi haqooq’ bit they were going on about but I suppose being married and letting Saba feel closer to Shariq was the first step and true, Saba lashed out at Shariq but then okay, I give up, lol. I feel like I am going round in circles trying to understand who is thinking what. Shariq should have tried to make things work with Saba rather than pining after Zoya since Saba is his wife. But then Saba brought the house down when she was anywhere near Shariq, so what was he to do. Ah well. I’ll let Maami sort them out.

pic2

Anyways, so now Maami again has swooped in to take charge of the situation. Saba had turned a deaf ear to her mother’s advice before but now she has decided to throw herself into ‘biwi mode’. Maami has stated that Shariq spend a day with each wife, turn by turn. I snorted at that, it almost sounded as ridiculous as when I call a truce when the kids fight over who has to make sure the ketchup goes back in the fridge and I announce they take turns – and then I am caught out trying to remember whose turn it is while both are bickering again. Good luck, Shariq!

Now that I have concluded that this drama is not going to end on any logical, thought provoking note, I am prepared to see it to its end like a detached viewer (hoping it does not drag crazily though!). I am so wary of reviewing any new dramas nowadays, even if something starts off well it suddenly goes off track and so wayward midway that I truly marvel at the sanity of the writer, director and actors involved. What do I think? I think Shariq should stop having tea – this chai making business is the cause of all this fasaad. I would have thought all this mess would have put him off tea by now anyway. I, on the other hand, am going to go fix myself a cup which I really need after watching this episode! Any thoughts? Don’t blame you if you don’t have any – but would love to hear some!

Sang e Marmar Episode 07 Review – A Rollercoaster Ride!

Ohkay so, in the (drama) world full of “becharas” & the writers being stuck on multiple marriages & extra marital affairs, despite being a drama with a very grave theme, Sang e Marmar is a breath of fresh air. Isn’t it amazing to see “strong” men & women fighting their battles as they deem fit? I am loving this drama for how they have shown the clash of egos, which usually happens when everyone is level-headed & wants to be victorious. Like all the previous episodes, this episode of Sang e Marmar was beautiful & every second of it was worth a watch. I must say, I am impressed how the director is taking the story forward because this drama keeps on getting better & better, so for that, I will thank the team of Sang e Marmar once again!

Within the clan of Gulistan Khan, there’s a difference of opinion, which made things a lot more intense. I loved how they showed Aurang, Sherbano & the mother on one side & Gulistan & Safiullah on the other. Where Sherbano & Aurang detested the idea of killing Saif ur Rehman, Gulistan Khan brain-fed Safiullah against Saif ur Rehman which will guarantee his death, in the life or after the death of Gulistan Khan. Gulistan Khan is someone who doesn’t understand a thing called forgiveness because he himself is delusional to believe that he has never committed any mistake & he won’t be held accountable for his wrongdoings ever. If Gulistan Khan, for a second had reflected on his deeds & if his conscience wouldn’t have been dead, he would’ve realized that everything that his family is facing now is a karma’s play.

Honestly speaking, the scene where Gohar’s mother was looking at his photographs sent shivers down my spine because it was the scene that I could relate to the most. When you lose someone you love the most, you have no other choice but to pick up the pieces & gather yourself & while doing that, you only have photographs that make you feel connected to someone you won’t be able to see again & they make you smile & cry at the same time while remembering the one you just lost. That entire scene was done so so so beautifully that I don’t know how to describe my feelings about it. With each passing episode, my respect for the bond that Aurang & his mother share increases. It is only Aurang who knows how to console his mother. ‘Humne sari muskurahatain tumse hi li hain Ma’, sab tumhari tarhaan hi haste hain’‘Muskurao’ – that entire conversation was just so heartfelt & beautiful. There was a mother who was mourning the death of her son yet she had another beautiful soul who was doing everything that a good son would do for his mother. By the end of that scene, we got to see for the first time that even Aurang remembers Shireen clearly & even he holds his childhood friend close to his heart & he hasn’t forgotten about her. I hope when Aurang will meet Shireen, he wouldn’t take much time in recognizing her because I have a feeling that it will give Shireen a hope that she has lost.

‘Gulistan Khan se teri aik taang ka hisab, uska aik haath kaat ke barabar kar diya hai’, Torah Khan is on the road to revenge & there’s no turning back. Torah knows that this is his time of glory & he is having a sadistic pleasure in seeing the suffering of Gulistan Khan. Torah has spent all his life in gaining Gulistan’s trust, that is why now he has become a little too complacent & fearless so much so that even his sister is finding his reactions a little odd & she has got the hint that Torah says one thing but his actions tell the tale of something entirely different. It was actually quite surprising to see how Torah has lived in such an awkward relation with Sherbano, where even he knows that she doesn’t respect him & hasn’t accepted him as her husband, but just because he has now successfully weaved a trap, he knows that anything that he will say to Sherbano won’t get back at him as even if Sherbano will go & report it to Gulistan Khan, he will have a hard time accepting the fact that Torah could say such a thing. It was actually quite interesting to see how Torah was conducting a game play using everyone as a pawn. I loved seeing his enthusiasm in front of Gulistan Khan where he said all those things to assure him that he was hungry to avenge Gohar’s murder & then I had a good laugh seeing him as a very obedient husband who would stammer in front of his wife, won’t even have the courage to look into her eyes but will still say things that will pinch her quite a lot. Good job Torah!!!

I must say, I loved the optimism of Durkhane that too in such a grave situation. Where Shireen has lost all the hope & she has halfheartedly accepted her defeat, she has Durkhane by her side who won’t let her down, especially for a mistake that she is not responsible for. Durkhane thinks that just by speaking directly to Gulistan or even Aurang, she will be able to save the day & will persuade them into believing that everything was Gohar’s fault, but she is underestimating Gulistan Khan. Gulistan Khan knew what sort of a person Gohar was & with a lot of honestly, he told Safiullah to brush the truth under the carpet as he knows that if people will get the idea that Saif ur Rehman was justified in killing Gohar, Gulistan will not only lose his dignity, but he will also end up losing his authority & power. Like Aurang said, it is just an intoxication of power due to which no one is ready to understand the entire situation & no one is keen on knowing the reason which forced Saif ur Rehman to take such a step. I loved how they showed a difference between a logical & an irrational person, where Aurang was keen on understanding everything. there was Safiullah who was bent on following the orders of his father without even bothering to find out the truth. That was the moment where Torah Khan realized that he has a competitor in the form of Aurang because of whom he will now have to be very very careful as he is someone who questions, reasons & tries to rationalize the situation, while the lack of all these things were benefiting Torah the most because if there’s one thing he knows how to play with, it is an emotion & Aurang is anything but emotional!

Honestly speaking, I so wish Torah’s sister, due to her affection for Aurang, doesn’t end up telling on her brother because Torah has worked all his life, he has literally spent his days & nights preparing for his mother’s revenge, so now when things are shaping up in his favor, I hope along with Aurang, she doesn’t ruin Torah’s plans because I also feel that Gulistan Khan should be punished for what he did. I have a feeling that Torah’s sister will end up getting involved because she would want to save her brother & stop him from ruining more lives & I hope that doesn’t spoil the beautiful relation both Torah & his sister share. I must say, the scene where Torah & his sister reminisce about their mother’s death was heart-wrenching. A boy of that age, experiencing his mother’s death that came after a long period of suffering & also has a sister to take care of, imagine how his mind & heart must’ve shaped up. Everything that Torah says in front of Sherbano & Gulistan sounds like a properly thought out lie but the things he said to his sister genuinely & honestly described his feelings.

This entire episode was beautiful, filled with riveting performances once again. You just can’t take your eyes off the screen, can you? I must say I love the sense of humor of the dialogue writer because in such serious discussions & conversations, he adds a little touch of sarcasm which is actually quite amusing. ‘Biscuit bhi mangwao, duur se aye hain pait khali hoga’, like seriously, Gulistan Khan is arrogant & he does favors on people by making sure that those who’re receiving his favors actually ‘notice’ his generosity. In this episode in particular, there were so many beautiful dialogues that struck a chord, so I thank the dialogue writer especially for doing such a wonderful job with the dialogues. I must say, there’s absolutely nothing that I can fault with this drama. The screenplay is amazing, the direction is on-fleek, the acting is phenomenal & last but not the least, we have such beautifully written; strong & amazing characters who actually make their presence worthwhile. Whether it is Saif’s wife who plans & plots, or it is Saif who is emotional but not too smart, or even Torah’s sister who had a very limited screen-time, each & every single character makes an impact & creates a difference in the story. I love the fact that all the characters in this drama have a purpose & there’s not even a single character that feels like it should’ve been omitted. This episode, after Noman Ejaz, without a doubt belonged to Masroor Paras, he has actually owned the character of Torah & has given it such a treatment that actually makes me feel that no other actor would’ve been able to achieve. Torah Khan has so many shades, so many emotions, so many regrets, which are flawlessly portrayed by Masroor Paras & I thank him for that. The preview of the next episode has already got me excited, seems like Saif’s wife is going to put up a great show in front of Gulistan Khan & I can’t wait to see that. This drama is roller-coaster ride of emotions & is unfolding like a beautiful journey that you just can’t have enough of. Please share your thoughts about this amazing episode of Sang e Marmar.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

ps: Can HUM TV cut down on showing the drama tickers while prime-time drama is on air? They are not only distracting but are actually quite annoying. I just hope someone from the channel pays heed to this!!!

Mein Sitara Episode 28 Review – Enticing And Unpredictable

There are plenty of reasons why Mein Sitara is my most favorite play right now but the most important reason is that it is filled with strong female characters who might be flawed in many ways but they are in no way becharis! You feel for them but not because they want you to feel sorry for them, you root for them without pitying them in any way at all and most of all, all these women have a screen presence which cannot go unnoticed. Until this episode Jharna and Sitara were two such women who fought till the end but tonight Falak proved that she too had tons of confidence in herself. Sitara has faced many difficult times in her life but she has always fought back and she refused to play the victim in her story. It is great to have writers and producers who dare to tell the story of women who are not becharis. It might not get them the ratings most people run after but it does earn them the respect of viewers who are sick and tired of watching women in similar scenarios in dramas. The grace and precision with which Saba Qamar translated Sitara’s character on screen yet again tonight was beyond impressive. Sitara has gone through many different phases of life throughout this drama and Saba Qamar has done complete justice to all these stages in Sitara’s life.

ms

Falak’s character was introduced properly in this episode. With Sitara’s mother out of the picture for now Falak and Sitara got to spend more time together without the involvement of a third party. Falak is a born artist, she cannot think about pursuing a career which does not involve performing, writing or directing. After being led down by her sister Sitara decided to give Falak the permission to go ahead with her plan to study film and performing arts. Sitara’s reaction after the refusal was shown brilliantly. The way Pappu has been kept in the picture throughout these last few episodes in particular has helped in many ways. He is someone who communicated Falak’s feelings to Sitara and pleaded her case. Also, he was seen accompanying Falak wherever she went, which gave Sitara a sense of security. Pappu’s conversations with Falak helped the viewers find out more about her character as well. Adnan Shah Tipu has breathed life into a character which was not an easy one to translate on screen. His portrayal is effortless and very impressive.

The scene in which Falak managed to persuade her mother to have more faith in her was one of the best scenes of this episode because it showed the amount of confidence Falak had in her own self. She really is Sitara’s daughter because she is not willing to give up on her dreams but she has a better chance than Sitara because she is going through proper channel. Sitara decided to convince Falak that she should not tell people about her relationship with her. Falak did not decide to go along with her mother’s decision because she was ashamed to be her daughter but because she wanted to make her own identity and she respects her mother’s wishes. The conversation between Falak and Sitara in which she acknowledges the pains her mother went through to raise her went to show that finally Sitara had one blood relative who was willing to acknowledge everything she had done for her and was not ashamed of being associated with her. Even Sitara’s sister who used to support her at one time, severed ties with her in order to keep her marriage intact therefore Falak is the only person who is proud of the bond she has with her mother irrespective of whatever happened in her past. The on screen chemistry between Anum Fayyaz and Saba Qamar makes their relationship with each other relatable.

ms

There are very few dramas which manage to hold your interest for this long. Mein Sitara hasn’t only held my interest but it gives me something new and exciting to look forward to every week. The preview of the next episode promised new twists in the story and perhaps another tragedy. Can’t wait to find out what is going to happen next.

How many of you watched this episode of Mein Sitara? Do share your thoughts about it.

5 Things You Did Not Know About Momina Mustehsan

0

She came, she saw, she conquered … yes Momina Mustehsan did all that and she did it literally overnight. Momina Mustehsan’s debut in Coke Studio won her a huge fan following but apart from that she also made a solid name for herself. People love her looks, her smile and her singing but most of all Momina also won people over by her overall attitude on social media by dealing with situations in a mature manner. Momina is young, she is already a star but she did not let all the fame change who she really is; a very grounded and down-to-earth person with some serious goals in life.

momina4Momina Mustehsan has a massive fan following but most people don’t know a lot about her because she does not give interviews on shows which are watched by most viewers who watch TV. Here are 5 things you did not know about Momina Mustehsan and 5 reasons to fall in love with her all over again!!

1. Momina Mustehsan Is Proud To Be A “Girly Engineer”

Yes! Most people probably don’t know that Momina’s majors in college were double engineering. She especially took up Mechanical Engineering “to prove a point”! She told in a recent interview that when she decided to take up Mechanical Engineering she was warned by the people in charge that it was a very difficult subject in which “even the guys could not do well”, this only gave Momina more incentive. She did not only take up the subject but also worked hard to get an A so that she could prove to everyone how wrong they were in assessing her. Momina is now applying for a Masters in Industrial Engineering which will start in January.

2. The Reason Behind That Smile In “Afreen, Afreen” Video

Fans did not only fall in love with Momina’s melodious voice but also her smile. The story behind the smile however proves that it was not a “smile” but a “smirk”!! Momina revealed that she was having mini heart attacks all through shooting “Afreen, Afreen” because she had not done any rehearsals and she was sitting next to a maestro like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. She said she did not even know she was smiling until she saw the video. She was so confused, she had no idea what she was doing at that time.

3. Momina Mustehsan Is Not The Only One In The Family Who Sings

Momina Mustehsan is the only “star” in the family but passion for singing is something she inherited from both her parents. In her interview Momina revealed that her mother and father both love to sing, they have been singing privately in their home and in parties for fun and they are quite good at it too. Momina learned to play violin when she was in school and she sang for the first time in a talent show when she was in grade 2.

momina2

4. Momina Mustehsan Has A Bigger Purpose In Life

Momina Mustehsan does not intend to stop here. She will continue singing and will of course work to make her career grow but she is also going to use her fame and resources to help all those children who do not have access to basic education. She intends to turn mosques into educational institutions in places where there are no schools. She believes that mosques were meant for purposes other than saying prayers there 5 times a day and they should be used for educating children who do not have access to schools. She is also working with NUST to make a Solar Panel Powered Vaccine Transport Cooler to carry vaccine in a more safe way without the weather effecting them. Momina Mustehsan loves singing but she never wanted to get famous and she does not care about clothes or brands, she is more concerned with things that matter.

momina3

5. Momina Mustehsan Does Not Mind Being “Flawed”

Momina thinks that people in Pakistan are always using apps to take pictures that will make them look flawless. She does not do that and when she posts her pictures on Social Media very often people criticize her for not looking “perfect”. Momina Mustehsan is very comfortable in the skin she is in and she wants others to also understand that it is okay to be flawed.

Dignity or Money! What matters the most for Pakistani Celebrities?

I also believe that Peace should prevail, for a subcontinent that has a civilisation of more than 5000 years must think about co-existence rather than vanquish. The relationship between Pakistan and India mostly remain in a state of turbulence. This turmoil in relationship also affected entertainment. For sure entertainment cannot be confined within borders it must go beyond borders. The cross border entertainment had always been fruitful to both countries and I am in full support of it.

Seriously I don’t mind if our artists are willing to work in Bollywood as long as they keep working for our industry as well. However if this becomes one way traffic then our artists should think about Dignity rather than working for Money. No work is acceptable without Dignity and Honour. Anti-Pakistan statements from across the border had always united this nation and we are capable of giving be-fitting replies if someone dare to cast evil eyes on us.

jacqueline-novogratz-dignity1

In current tense situation between Pakistan and India we have witnessed how India celebrities chose to chant slogans against Pakistan and they do have every right to support their country. Even Adnan Sami who actually got fame through Pakistan now posting tweets on social Media against Pakistan for the sake of pleasing Indian Government and trying to settle in India. When their celebrities were pouring venom against Pakistan, the audience was looking upon our artists to give appropriate replies to them but in an utter disappointment our celebrities preferred to remain silent.

11

This silence not only raised bars of concerns but question as well Is Money more important than Dignity? It is hell true that most of our artists are still keen to find opportunities to work in Bollywood and that’s why no one said anything beyond neutral statements except Hamza Ali Abbasi, Shaan, Faisal Qureshi and Ashir azeem. I am not the follower of Hamza’s Ideology but I always appreciate his stance for the country, he even mentioned his fellow acting community that when war is forced upon you it’s not too much to ask few words in support of our security forces. That’s exactly what Indian Celebrities are doing right now.

17

14

On many Occasions our celebrities claim to be patriotic but whenever it’s time to show patriotism they act like they don’t even exist on earth. The tactic of our celebrities is simple keep calm and wait for Bollywood until situation becomes peaceful again. Celebrities like Fawad, Mahira, Mawra, Ali Zafar etc should understand that they got fame through Pakistan. It was Pakistani Audience not Bollywood who made you rising stars so that world can also acknowledge you. If you are popular and people plea to watch you live, it is just because of Pakistan and not India and indeed you owe to this land. Speaking for your country in stressed situation was never too much. Bollywood is not only the destination there is so much to do in our industry at the moment. I am happy how Fawad and Mahira dropped from their respective Bollywood films and this is what they truly deserved. Feeling the pressure from our audience demanding input on current situation they both prefer to give a rational diplomatic statement of peace rather than a solid patriotic response. They didn’t even dared to write Pakistan Zindabad at the end of their statement.

I am very obliged to Pakistani Cinemas for banning Indian Films, if they can ban our artists and content then why not us? I completely agree with Ashir Azeem that a lobby is trying to create impression as if our cinema industry will crash if we stop screening of Bollywood films and this includes Humayun Saeed as well who thinks our industry cannot survive without bollywood films. Just because of your interest in earning money we cannot compromise our honour. Pakistan is capable enough to nurture its own industry it just needs support from our artists and unfortunately our artists only care about money and fame.

In my view these celebrities are more unfaithful towards country than politicians who don’t even to dare to utter one word in support of our mother land . What are your thoughts about it?
