Fawad Khan’s Dubmash With Alia Bhatt

0

There was a time not very long ago when Fawad Khan kept on repeating in every interview that he was an introvert. He also said many times that although he was in showbiz but he was a very shy person by nature. All that has changed now. Fawad Khan’s new booming career has given him an undeniable confidence. Unlike before he is seen in every event not wearing glasses and in a casual look but very dressed up because he knows that the media is watching him. He had huge fan following in Pakistan even after Hamsafar but he never made appearances in shows and functions dressed up like he considered himself a hero. All that has changed now and Fawad Khan has accepted that he is a hero!

2

Dubmash videos are very common among celebrities nowadays. All these celebrities pick their favorite lines from a film or some song and make a dubmash video of it. Fawad Khan recently made a dubmash for his Indian friend Sidharth Malhotra along with his co-star and friend Alia Bhatt. He wished Sidharth in an unconventional way which he also appreciated. He posted the Dubmash video on his instagram page and thanked Fawad and Alia for it. All these three actors will be seen in the film Kapoor and Sons. The promotions of the film have already begun.

Veena Malik Talks About Motherhood And Life After Marriage

0

Veena Malik and her husband Asad Bashir Khattak were invited to Aplus’ Morning Show today in which they talked all about their family life and future plans. Veena Malik wore a traditional dress and covered her head. Talking about the big changes in her life in the past few years Veena Malik said,

“I was living in a fairytale, I didn’t know what practical life was like. Getting married and having kids has taught me what practical life is all about and it is very beautiful.”

1

Veena Malik plans to have a big family. She said,

“I am always very concerned about my kids and my house. As you people have seen we don’t have a nanny, we take care of the kids ourselves. Both me and my husband have a lot of siblings so we are all for having a big family.”

Veena’s husband said that he was a very patriotic person even though he was brought up in Pakistan. He said,

“I had the option of getting American citizenship but I am a Pakistani and will always stay a Pakistani. We have traveled all around the world but the feeling you get living in Pakistan, you don’t get it anywhere else.”

2

Talking about why it took them so long to come back to Pakistan Asad said,

“My family is abroad and my business is there too. We wanted to wait till we had a proper family of our own before we came to Pakistan. Now that we have 2 kids, we thought this was a good time to come back to Pakistan.”

Veena Malik said that her heart was always with Pakistan no matter where she worked. She said,

“Even when I was in India my heart was in Pakistan. I always supported my country whenever there was a match or anything else.”

Farah asked her about her experience of working in India and whether she will recommend going to India to any other Pakistani celebrity to which she replied,

“Art does not have borders. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. If people can face everything that comes as a part and parcel of going to India then they should. If you ask me I will never go to India because I cannot face all that criticism from my own people now. I want to work in Pakistan for my own people.”

3

Farah asked Asad why he didn’t ask Veena to change her name to Veena Asad or Veena Khattak. He said,

“What difference does it make? She will still be my wife no matter what her full name is.”

Was Veena Malik afraid that people will criticize her again? Replying to this question she said,

“I worked like any other actress, nothing about what I did was worth criticizing but I was only criticized because I belonged to an army family. I only change my path because of my family, my people and my God. I left a lot of things but I have no regrets.”

4

Veena Malik also said that people have always seen the colorful side of her but,

“There are a lot of things about my life – many upside downs – which people do not know about and I want to keep these things to myself too.”

Asad Bashir Khattak also sand a patriotic song of his own to prove just how much he loved his country. Veena Malik also sang a few lines. It looks like Veena and her husband want to do something to make a place in people’s heart.

Aabro – An Overview!

Ohkay so, production of Momina Duraid, writing of Qaisra Hayat & direction of Ilyas Kashmiri; Aabro is airing at 8PM on HUM TV on Sundays from the last 5 weeks. The screenplay of Aabro is written by Umera Ahmed, which is something that has attracted a lot of viewership to this drama. Overall, Aabro isn’t a must watch but has been executed properly without much loopholes, therefore it can be followed without expecting too much from it in terms of entertainment or story.

The story of Aabro revolves around 3 families that are interlinked. First comes the family of Zubaida (Farah Shah) & Anwar who have 4 childern. Ali (Noor Hassan) & Abid (Ahmed Zeb) are their sons along with two daughters, out of which Samra is engaged to be married. Then comes the family of Zubaida’s sister Shahida (Humera Bano) & Jamshed who have two daughters, out of which Fauzia (Zainab Ahmed) is the center of attention. Then last but not the least, comes the family of Sakina (Asma Abbas); a widow & a mother of Hamid (Imran Ashraf) & Aabro (Mehreen Fayyaz).

Collage 01

The story begins by showing that Ali & Aabro are interested in each other & are going out. They both are very much in love & plan to get married. Ali’s mother Zubaida is a very family oriented woman who believes that she has a control over her children. She wants what’s best for them & that is why she believes her sister’s daughter Fauzia is a perfect choice for her son Ali. Ali belongs to a middle class family & Zubaida believes in morals & values, that is why she believes that Fauzia fits the bill of her ideal daughter-in-law as she knows that her sister Shahida has raised Fauzia with the same mind-set that Zubaida endorses herself.

Collage 02

Sakina works as an janitor in the college & works as a maid at the house of the principal of the same college. Sakina has given up on her son Hamid because she knows that he was never interested in educating himself. She puts faith in Aabro because she thinks Aabro would be the one who can turn the tables for the entire family. On personal request of Sakina, her Madam (Ismat Zaidi) gives admission to Aabro in the college because she feels for Sakina & knows that despite being a single mother, she works really hard to provide for her children.

Collage 03

Aabro asks Ali to introduce her to his family but Ali can’t really find the right time to do that & just when he is thinking of talking to his mother about Aabro, Zubaida finalizes Ali’s engagement with Fauzia. Even though Ali tells his mother time & again that he doesn’t want to get married to Fauzia, she doesn’t pay heed to what her son says as she is too keen on saving her word & reputation in front of her sister. Surprisingly, it is Ali’s father who feels that Ali isn’t happy with the situation but Zubaida assures him that he is mistaken because whatever she did happened after knowing Ali’s opinion on that matter.

Aabro finds out about Ali’s engagement with Fauzia & that’s when she decides to step in. She speaks to Fauzia directly & tells her that Aabro & Ali got married, therefore she should call her engagement off. Things get heated & that’s when Fauzia’s parents take a stand that they would never allow Fauzia to get married to Ali. On Ali’s request, Zubaida goes to meet Aabro just to find out that she is completely opposite to Fauzia, making her even firm on the decision that she’d never allow Ali to get married to such a girl who has been raised like that. Now the things are going to get pretty ugly because Aabro has decided to elope with Ali & looks like Ali has agreed too because he knows that nothing that he’d say will convince his mother. So let’s see what more do they have in store for us.

Coll 01

First 5 episodes introduced all the characters properly & I think the writer has done a good job in bringing out the personalities of all the characters in detail. I think it is appreciable that just when the drama is in the initial stages, all the characters have gotten enough coverage so that the audience can understand them better. Even though the drama has ‘been there, seen that’ written all over it but it still provides satisfactory content to tune in on the weekends.

Even though there’s nothing appreciable about Aabro but I think she is better in a sense that she is not after Ali’s money or didn’t fall for him after finding out that his family is doing well financially. She just fell in love with him for who he is & yes, she is someone who wants everything in life but still she has never once considered that she can mooch off her future husband Ali. There’s a fine line between being in love for genuine reasons or to pose you’re in love just because you’re a gold digger but Aabro isn’t that & she actually really loves Ali & yes, all the things she expects from him are the things any girl expects from her future husband. Aabro has never once thought of changing herself because she thinks Ali has accepted her the way she is & this is something that’s a huge mistake on her part because no matter how much Ali loves her now, after marriage, her nature is the main thing that will prove to be the reason behind them drifting apart. Aabro is immature, impatient & inconsiderate & it is actually quite surprising that Ali can’t see that. Ali happens to belong to a good family but even he has allowed himself to get swayed by a girl like Aabro, that is why he doesn’t see any faults in her & is creating a havoc in his home for her sake. Aabro surely has Ali wrapped around her little finger but then she is not solely responsible for it because Ali has given her that much of an edge to be able to do that.

Honestly speaking, in the initial episodes, I liked Ali’s mother & thought she was justified for thinking that as a mother she can take important decisions on behalf of her children but the way she ignored Ali’s pleas even after hearing from him clearly that he doesn’t want to get married to Fauzia & the way she tried to impose her decisions on him made her look very unreasonable & irrational. I am glad that at least the husband in their couple is wise enough to think that Ali is entitled to choose his life partner & that he won’t be able to make Fauzia happy if he himself won’t be happy with his marriage but Zubaida resorted to lying just in order to save herself & add more weight to her decision. I thought Zubaida was a wise woman as well like her husband but I don’t think that’s the case anymore because if she would’ve been wise, she would’ve been able to foresee the mess that now her & her sister’s family is facing, which is just a result of her lies & a result of her turning away from the reality.

Coll 02

Also, I am not at all a fan of Fauzia’s character. Why do the writers always show that behind every sulking lifeless girl, there’s a guy she is dying to get married to. Why do they think it is justified to show that no matter how the girl gets rejected point black by a guy, she still would want to get married to him. Ali happens to be Fauzia’s one & only love, her first love of the life (if she has one) & she is ready to do everything to be with him. Even after personally getting a call by both Ali & Aabro & also after getting a final verdict from her parents especially her father, Fauzia is taking a so-called stand that she still wants to get married to Ali & will never call off her engagement. Like seriously, Fauzia actually made me feel disgusted by her display of lack of dignity & self-respect. Just when I was expecting that Fauzia would be the one calling Ali & giving him a piece of her mind, she was mad at her parents for breaking her engagement with Ali, which actually left me in a state of shock. Why do the writers feel that they need to show that a girl who supposedly is strong-headed will take a wrong decision that too for the sake of a guy who is least interested in her. I so wish Fauzia stops being so ridiculous that too for the sake of her one-sided love because she is turning out to be a mentally weak person! Also I believe Shahida’s meltdown was absurd too. Just when Shahida saw that her daughter Fauzia wasn’t taking the news of her broken engagement well, she decided to side with her & accept her decision of getting married to Ali while completely being ohkay with the fact that he was already married. Even though Ali’s not married but right now no one in her family is familiar with the reality so to see Shahida being perfectly fine with the fact that Fauzia will become Ali’s second wife made me cringe (a lot)!!!

Overall, the direction & the acting of all the actors has been good but I feel Mehreen Fayyaz should tone it down a couple of notches, whether it’s her dialogue delivery, her expressions, her gaze or even her makeup. She does fit well in the frame of Aabro’s character but she is over-doing it a bit. She has a long way to go in terms of acting & I hope she improves because for now, her eyes look completely bland & expressionless. I now think Noor Hassan should change his look, if not anything, at least his hairstyle because he happens to appear in one drama after another but isn’t experimenting with his looks at all. He has a same hairstyle if we look back starting from Firaaq to Muqaddas to Tumhare Siwa & now Aabro, I hope he’s not trying to become another Ahsan Khan in terms of monotonous styling. I must say the only actor who has actually forced us to feel for the character she is playing is Asma Abbas. She is phenomenal as Sakina & you actually understand what she is going through & how hurt she is but is still putting up tough facade to face the world. She doesn’t believe in crying over how diffcult her life is, she believes in moving her muscle to fight it out, which I feel is commendable & is refreshing to see. Farah Shah has acted brilliantly too & I loved her acting in the 5th episode in particular where she is mad at her son & can’t explain how helpless she’s feeling. The rest of the characters are very typical & have nothing new to offer but are being portrayed well by the actors. Sadly, these sort of stories have been aired so many times that we can’t help reading between the typicality they offer but I really hope it turns out to be a bit different in the episodes to come & ends at a good note with some very strong underlying message. Umera Ahmed’s name is something that is forcing me to have some hopes with this drama. Please share your thoughts about the first 5 episodes of Aabro, would love to hear you guys out & also let me know if you guys would like to see the weekly reviews of Aabro. :)

Top Ten OSTs of 2015

0

Dramas nowadays are simply failing to enthrall viewers, the quality is getting tumbled exponentially. There was a time when Pakistani dramas were known for its perfect family entertainment but now the charm seems to be fading away with the passage of time. Mostly dramas represent monotonous story line with unappealing characters and script lacking depth which indicates that writers are running completely out of ideas. It happens when producers started focusing on commercialization.

Year 2015 was not fruitful for drama industry as well, dramas that were hit you can count them on fingers. However on the flip side if we encounter ourselves with dramas’ soundtracks we always found them mesmerising. Our singers, music composers and lyricist truly deserve round of applause for providing great variety of melody and music to the audience.

The topic here is to list 10 best OSTs of 2015 that are simply music to ears.

10. Muqaddas OST “Dil Maachis Hai”: The drama was really well directed and full of suspense that forced the audience to watch it. The OST as well is amazing and worth listening. It was sung and composed by talented Shuja Haider and lyricist of the OST is Adeel Razzaq.

9. Aitraaz OST “Aye mere dil kahin aur chal”: The drama includes star cast namely sania saeed, Imran abbas, Sana Javed and Gauhar Rasheed yet it fails to meet the threshold of quality entertainment. The drama wrecks in all department but its OST is simply amazing. Khadija and Faraz Khosa had sung it splendidly.

8. Muhabbat aag si OST “Ishq bin jiya na jai”: Cannot provide my views on the storyline and plot since I haven’t watched it but its OST for sure captured by attention. The song was sung by shafqat salamat Ali and Bina Khan, lyrics are written by Wasi Shah and composed by Raheel Fayyaz.

7. Tum mere pass raho OST: Another drama having ensemble cast of Bushra Ansari, Arij Fatyma, Aaminah Ilyas and Zahid Ahmed failing to meet viewers expectation. The OST of this drama is sung by Zeb Bangash and composed by versatile and renowned composed Waqar Ali. Lyrics are written by Sabir Zafar. This song actually gives you a feeling of Lullaby.

6. Guzaarish OST “Kisse da yaar na vichre”: The famous song of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan chosen as Guzaarish drama OST and guess who is the singer? None other than Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. “Kisse Da yaar na vichre” was previously the OST of famous PTV drama serial “Dhuwan”.

5. Yeh mera dewaanapan hai OST: Yet again can’t give my views on this play but what caught my attention is the OST of this drama. Resplendently sung by Ali Sethi, this song will not stop you listening over and over again. Well it is an old Bollywood song of Mukesh and Ali Sethi had performed this song in a similar fashion but in his own style.

4. Khuda Dekh Raha hai OST “Das Das ki mein yaar manawa”: We are all aware of the talent Agha Ali possess in acting but who knows that one day he will surprised us all with his exceptional singing and music composition skills. His mesmerising vocals and great composition of music made this OST a major hit. The lyrics are also written by him and major wordings are in Punjabi but literally this OST is simply music to your ears.

3. Mera naam yousuf hai OST: This drama is not only among the most watched drama of 2015 but its OST as well. This OST was soothingly sung by Rizwan Anwer and brilliantly composed by Saad Sultan.

2. Diyar-e-dil OST “Yaar-e-mann”: In my opinion this is the drama of 2015 as it kept us hooked up till 33 weeks. People who loved this drama, love listen to its OST as well. The starting lyrics of OST contains Persian language, it sung by Zeb Bangash and Momin Duraani, composed by Shanni Irshaad and lyrics are written by Sabir Zafar.

1. Alvida OST: This is the best OST of 2015 in my opinion. Not only Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan had sung this song marvellously but his singing had taken this song to the whole new level so that you keep tapping replay button. The music is composed by legend Sahir Ali Bhagga and lyrics are provided by talented Imran Raza.

Other OSTs that captured my attention is Jugnoo OST by sahir ali bhagga, Maana ka gharana OST (ishq baccha hai bigra hua) by Nabeel Shaukat Ali, Tum mere kya ho OST by Nabeel Shauakat Ali and Gul-e-rana OST by maestro Waqar Ali.

So which OSTs of 2015 are your favourite? Feel free to add your list.

Tere Mere Beech – Episode 08!

Ohkay so, this episode of Tere Mere Beech was happening but not engaging because the story hasn’t moved forward at all from the last couple of episodes. Seems like they will be introducing a new character & the twist in the plot will happen then, which I hope is enough to keep the drama engaging for quite a long time!

Zubaida got quite a lot of coverage which wasn’t required because that thing didn’t really affect or add more to the developments of the story, in fact it looked more like a filler scenario as it didn’t change anything at all & there was no outcome of that situation that was shown. Zubaida felt she was insulted & she chose to draw her lines by not attending the reception & also by leaving for her village without notifying Nighat. Zubaida was upset quite a lot but Salma & Hareem added more fuel to the fire. Seems like Zubaida couldn’t do much herself that is why she passed it onto Hareem to insult Ali’s family on her behalf. I don’t understand, being Hareem’s mother & guardian herself, how can she not foresee the consequences Nadia would have to face if anything of such sort happens!

Nadia is trying to adjust to the new environment & Ali’s mother isn’t making things difficult for her. She has only made her point clear time & again that she wants to keep a low profile & doesn’t want to mingle with Nadia’s family. It was good to see Nadia & Ali having a conversation apart from the typical problems that they were facing ever since they got married. I liked how they both talked to each other about their childhood & the things they wanted the most. Nadia & Ali are both very different people but somehow they are compatible with each other as well.

The new character that made an entry today was of Asad, who happens to be Ali’s younger brother. Looks like he will have a lot to offer too & he will also have an affect on Nadia & Ali’s lives as well. So far he looked like a happy-go-lucky sort of a person but as the preview suggested, he’s going to be a bit different than he seems.

Fahad continues to fool Hareem because he has found an easy target. Fahad only wants Hareem’s property because he thinks he will get a kick-start after getting married to Hareem that he was waiting for all his life. Hareem questions him every now & then regarding the things she is curious of & also, the things that she finds a little odd, but even though Fahad manages to convince her, it is her equation with Nighat that makes Hareem forget everything that bothers her about Fahad & she then becomes a bit more persistent on the fact that she only wants to get married to Fahad. She thinks he is the only reliable person that she can fall on but that’s her mistake & no one can stop her from doing that to herself!

Overall, this episode was ohkay but the preview seemed interesting. Looks like Asad will show interest in Hareem & it will cause trouble for both Nadia & Ali. Please share your thoughts about tonight’s episode of Tere Mere Beech!

Fawad Khan With His Wife On Filmfare Awards – Pictures

0

Fawad Khan and his wife were invited to the Filmfare Awards in India which were attended by all the top celebrities of India and those Pakistani celebrities who are working in India. Fawad Khan posted a few pictures of him and his wife at and before the awards on his recently made instagram account. Fawad Khan usually does not post a lot of pictures so it is good to see him sharing these pictures with his fans which could mean that he will keep his instagram account active.

Fawad Khan wore a tuxedo on the event and Sadaf Fawad Khan wore a saree. She is seen wearing Western dresses most often but this time she decided to wear something Eastern. The Filmfare instagram page and other pages also shared Fawad Khan and his wife’s pictures on the red carpet and while they were sitting in the audience. This was the fourth time in Filmfare awards that Atif Aslam was nominated but just like all the previous years, he did not win the award. Fawad Khan won the award last year for Best Male Debut.

Here are some pictures of the couple from the event:

Sajjal And Feroze Talk About Their Relationship And Much More

Sajjal and Feroze have worked in two dramas. Feroze Khan’s debut drama was with Sajjal Ali and his debut film will be with her too. In real life too these two actors are best friends. There are people who say that Sajjal and Feroze are much more than friends but Sajjal and Feroze in a recent interview with glam magazine completely denied that there was anything more than just friendship between them. Here is what Sajjal said about their relationship with each other:

1

Feroze Khan also said that Sajjal was a dear friend but both of them had to do a lot of things in life and they were too young to get married.

2

Sajjal also shared what kind of a man she would like to spend the rest of her life with although she made it very clear that she had no intentions of getting married right now. She wants to go abroad and study further. But whenever she gets married who will it be? Answering that she said,

“Definitely not from the industry. I would like someone who has a 9 to 5 job – a doctor or an engineer – who comes home at a specific time. Who is caring, sincere and family-oriented.”

Then she said laughing,

“Of course if he is good looking then that would be a bonus.”

Talking about her character in the play Gul-e-Rana which is being aired on HUM TV nowadays, she said,

“I have a very interesting character in Gul-e-Rana. Rather than playing the meek and submissive girl this time around I am portraying a strong, independent girl who knows her mind. I had a great time shooting for it and the experience was simply enjoyable. HUM is an amazing place to work and I am glad I opted for this project.”

3

Sajjal Ali also talked about her character in Chup Raho and why opted for the project. She said,

“When I was offered Chup Raho, I was quite excited as the script was very interesting. That is when I first met Feroze. We worked together well and clicked instantly. People liked us as a young on-screen couple and we were getting noticed big time.”

6

Talking about what kind of a girl he would like to marry Feroze Khan said,

“I don’t mind if she is an actor as long she is simple, understands values, is family-oriented and most importantly we should be on the same wavelength.”

Gul-e-Rana – Episode 11

Weird, clichéd and really really lame – that pretty much sums up tonight’s episode. Even after watching so many episodes I have not been able to relate to any of the characters. All I want to do while watching every episode is to knock some sense into all these characters. Watching Rana thinking about the conversations she had with her father in the past was long overdue! It was almost as if she had forgotten everything that she wanted to be and all that her father expected her to become. I definitely expected much more from someone who was raised by a father who gave her so much confidence but now Rana is just another one of those girls who have absolutely no choice but to put up with every ‘challenge’ life throws her way because she was forced to get married to someone like Adeel. The fact that Rana still wants to study and make something out of her life was good to see but the way she lectured Adeel’s friend when she went to rescue her was just plain disgusting! It was sad to see someone like Rana, who is supposedly very wise and who knows her husband so well blaming a girl in such a situation. In fact all those dialogues seemed completely out of place. The way ‘Islam’ was dragged into the whole scenario was even more lame! I must say that other than the hitting and useless confrontations between Rana and Adeel, this was the worst scene in this entire episode.

gr1

The episode opened with Rana trying to adjust to her new environment and very soon she realized that she would have to deal with much more than Adeel’s annoying presence in her new house. Munira once again was out of the picture but I am sure she will be back when someone is needed to plead Adeel’s case. Like every other episode ‘chai’ was a very important part of this episode as well! Someone or the other must fight over who will make chai or whether they will make it or not or like this time when Rana spilled Adeel’s tea on purpose it was equivalent to breaking Adeel’s heart. What surprises me is that although Rana hates Adeel and Adeel looks down upon Rana but somehow both of them still manage to disappoint each other! The reactions are very strange and definitely not something I have been able to relate to. Rana hates Adeel and expects the worst from him for obvious reasons but even then she seems disappointed and shocked when she hears Adeel talking to a girl on the phone. Adeel looks like he is really sorry after he is caught red handed but the next morning, he is back to being his old self! Rana yet again decided to talk to Asher bhai about her troubles because just like any other heroine she does not want to talk to someone who can actually do something about the situation. I found it funny when Asher volunteered to talk to Adeel about the problems Rana was facing since he is definitely not the kind of person who can plead anyone’s case.

gr2

This power struggle between Adeel and Rana is getting boring, monotonous and nothing ‘productive’ is coming out of it. The writer and the director have tried very hard to make the viewers feel for Rana by making her character holier than thou and adding the background score but personally I am finding it very hard to feel for her character since she seems to be creating situations which in no way help her but get her into even more trouble. Adeel’s character has absolutely nothing going for it, it keeps on turning from bad to worse. The direction of the drama and the script is extremely weak right from the get-go. The preview of the next episode showed that Rana will once again do something adventurous to get herself out of the situation she is in and that makes me wonder why she can’t just talk to her Taya abu instead of getting herself in these situations over and over again!

Did you watch this episode of Gul-e-Rana? Do share your thoughts about it.

Ali Zafar Has Big Plans For 2016

0

Ali Zafar has big plans for this year, he has decided that he wants to make himself more accessible to the people of Pakistan who gave him the name he has today. Ali Zafar is going to do that by doing 50 live shows in 60 days.

While talking to Express Tribune Ali Zafar said,

“In the same period I also worked on 4 TV commercials. Music had recently taken the back seat for me but that’s not the case anymore. I am working on my next album which will be out this year.”

Ali Zafar also wants musicians to get together and work on different projects. He also wants to help these musicians reach that goal. He said,

“I want people to get together. Back in the day it was always like that. Musicians, artists and writers would sit together, discuss their work. That culture has sort of waned. I built a state-of-the-art studio in my basement for the sole reason. I call everybody to come, jam and have fun.”

Ali Zafar’s concert in Lahore last week was a huge success. It was attended by 5,000 to 6,000 people. Although it rained at the time of the concert but Ali Zafar and the crowd did not let the weather effect them. Talking to the media he said,

“This is the first time I have ever experienced something like this. While me and my band kept soaking in the rain, we kept on performing for the crowd who refused to leave and kept on dancing. I have never seen so much love — that even in the chilly winter rain, fans would stay to hear their favorite songs. One of the most memorable nights.”

Ali Zafar was very moved by this event. He also tweeted about it.

Tumhare Siwa – Last Torture/Episode!

Haye! Shuker! Just when I was at the brink of throwing up, this episode ended & I am so glad that not only the episode, this dramatic drama ended too which had no purpose to serve whatsoever. Before going on with the review, I will definitely say that the admins at Hum TV should really get their definition of ‘entertainment’ checked & rectified because these sort of dramas actually do not fall into the category of ‘entertainment’ from any angle.

While watching this episode, the only thought that crossed my mind was, what took them so long to wrap this drama up. Nothing that they showed in this episode was something that they couldn’t show 2 – 3 or may be 5 – 6 weeks ago. It was just as boring as the rest of the drama & was even slow because I couldn’t sit through it & watched it on the go!

Rania reached the decision that she wanted to help Samra through her husband because other than that, she saw no option & her mind didn’t work in any other direction which could’ve told her that there were million other ways to empower & help Samra. Rania thought she had an ATM card named Aazar, so she could lend it to Samra to use for her personal expenses. Well, at least Rania does earn some points for being genuinely worried about Samra & wanting to help her but Aazar & Samra were proved to be the losers right till the end.

It was absolutely ridiculous to see Aazar’s responses to Rania’s suggestions. She straight away & clearly said that she didn’t want Aazar to divorce Samra but all the answers Aazar gave told the tale of what he actually wanted. Aazar said he didn’t want to be with Samra & he loved Rania, also that he would only be Samra’s kaghazi husband but the moment he saw that he went overboard with his side of convincing, he switched the tone & all of a sudden started caterwauling about how bechari Samra is & how for him, she is only Arsal’s wife. It was so funny that where at one hand Aazar said he didn’t want to form any relation with Samra, on the other he had the audacity to say that she was his mehram & she wasn’t his bhabhi anymore. It was so obvious that Aazar was giving mixed signals to Rania to convince her to accept Samra not only as Aazar’s kaghazi biwi but as a full fledged legally & lawfully wedded wife too!!!

Oh, just as weird as her entry was, her name was exactly weird too. Lily Aunty! Who was nowhere to be seen in the entire drama, came & rescued Samra out of nowhere. At first she convinced Samra that whatever Rania & Aazar decided for her was the best but she took a U turn & ended up being a phaphay kutni who threatened Aazar with a lawsuit if he wouldn’t divorce Samra. Well, Samra proved that she was only born to be a nuisance for everyone around her. If she made up her mind, then she could’ve easily told Aazar at his face that she wants a divorce but in stead she chose to flee away & then get them both threatened by weirdly named Lily Aunty! What a beautiful way to pay them back for what they did, with that being said, at least I am relieved to see that Samra grew a backbone & decided to fend for herself rather than relying on someone else’s husband!

Also, the note at which the drama ended really made me hate Aazar even more. He didn’t grow a spine to tell Rania the depth of his relationship with Samra. If he had come clean then he would’ve looked like someone who genuinely loved his wife but in stead he chose to conceal his dirty laundry & made Rania feel even more guilty for doubting his farishta of a husband by telling her again & again that she means the world to him! Well anyways, jo karna tha kiya, shuker hai ke hamain maaf kiya!!!

Well, I think when some good dramas are going through a post production procedure, Hum TV takes out these filler dramas from their stash till the actual drama that they want to air is ready to be released. They have done it before too & they did it this time around as well, where they were waiting for Mann Mayil to complete so that they can air it on Fridays. I really hope that they don’t do it anymore because they have a duty towards their audience too who put faith in them & also with this drama, I hope the writer burns down all the pens & the papers that he has in his home because writing definitely is not his cup of tea, coffee, gulabi chai, kawa whatever! Also, with due respect, I think Sakina Samo should leave direction for those who actually know the meaning & ABCDEFGHIJLKMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ of direction. Please share your thoughts about this masterpiece & tell me how happy are you to see it ending tonight!

Nida Yasir Planted Show Exposed Badly

Our Morning Show hosts already don’t have much of a credibility and people are criticizing them all the time for staging things to attract the attention of the viewers. The most common tactic used my most Morning Show hosts is to invite husbands and wives on their shows and show them having fights live. In this video Nida Yasir has invited two such couples to her show. In the first clip she even criticizes the audience for clapping because she says that it is very insensitive of them to be cheering when someone’s marriage is breaking apart. The husband walks out of the show because he is angry at his wife for insulting him on live TV. The organizers of this show have done everything to convince people that these are real couples and not actors.

As it turns out both these couples who were shown as real life couples with real problems in Nida’s show are actually paid actors who have worked on other channels too. It is disappointing to see that our Morning Show hosts choose to such cheap tactics to get TRPs. The viewers want to ask Nida the same question which she asked her audience, is this a joke for her? Does she think that people enjoy watching couples fight?

Watch the video here to find out how Nida Yasir is making a fool out of everyone.

Fawad Khan Joins Instagram

0

Fawad Khan is very popular but for some reason he is not very active on Social Networking Pages. He joined twitter very late unlike many other celebrities who are constantly keeping their fans informed about their projects through twitter. Fawad Khan still does not have a page on facebook but he has finally decided to join instagram.

fawad1

Fawad Khan’s first instagram post was not a shot from his upcoming project or one from a photo shoot but he posted this:

Fawad Khan surely got the attention of people who are following him on instagram with this post. They are waiting to find out who is getting his head shaved off. Fawad Khan’s fans are very happy now that he is part of the instagram family but they are also hoping that unlike his twitter account he will keep this account more active.

Mann Mayal – BTS Pictures

0

Mann Mayal is upcoming drama serial which is going to air from 22nd January on HUM TV. The script of the drama has been written by Samira Fazal and it has been directed by Haseeb Hassan. The cast includes names like Maya Ali, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Gauhar Rasheed, Ayesha Khan, Atiqa Udho, Laila Zuberi, Javaid Sheikh, Saba Hameed, Arjumand Rahim, Talat Hussain, Vasay Chaudhry, Aiman Khan and others. Osman Khalid Butt was also seen on the sets of the play but as he pointed out he was only ‘gate crashing’. Some people were under the impression that Osman Khalid Butt was also part of the cast but he is not part of the drama. People who are big fans of Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali really want to see them together in a drama again but that is not going to happen in Mann Mayal.

14

From the BTS pictures it looks like Mann Mayal is going to revolve around a love triangle. This love triangle will be between Manahil (Maya Ali), Salahuddin (Hamza Ali Abbasi), Jeena (Ayesha Khan) and Mikael (Gauhar Raheed).

Beqasoor – Episode 10

The best thing about the latest developments is watching Sadaf realize the gravity of the situation unlike her daughter who is willing to get married to someone like Ameen to please her father. It is impossible for a girl like Hira to even spend a day with someone like Ameen therefore I cannot even remotely relate to how Hira can go ahead with such a decision. After trying everything she could, including talking to Shehryar about the matter Sadaf decides that she would much rather kill her daughter than marry her off with someone like Ameen. Getting married to Ameen would definitely mean that Hira will die a little every single day of her life therefore Sadaf thinks it is better if she dies once and for all. Waseem continued playing games and once again his wife and Hira fell for his tricks. The way Waseem Abbas has portrayed this character on screen is absolutely brilliant. Although the character has nothing new to offer but he is very convincing even when he is lying to his wife about his intentions and plans. Even the viewers can’t help but wonder if he really had a change of heart.

Hira’s character has to be the most least likable of all the characters in the play. We hate Waseem because the character deserves to be hated but Hira’s character is annoying when she should actually be someone the viewers should be feeling sorry for. She is obviously someone who does not think she deserves to be happy but she thinks that her sole purpose in life is to make other people happy. I completely understand that part of her personality but her decision to make her father happy at the expensive of her mother’s happiness is not in line with her character at all. She is a very strong girl but she uses her strength in a way that it is not doing her or anyone any good! She is using her ‘strength’ to make the biggest blunder of her life hoping that in this way she will be able to win her father’s approval. The weakest point of her personality has to be the desire to seek her father’s approval.

bq

There wasn’t enough of Sehr in this episode. I am glad that the phuppo was there to amuse us a little otherwise this play is too depressing. The story is going around in circles at the moment. For the past 3 episodes we have been waiting to see whether Waseem succeeds in his plans or not. Like many other plays on ARY Digital the pace of this play is very slow as well. The only real development in this episode was a slight change in Shehryar’s personality. He told Sadaf off once again in the worst manner possible but later on we saw him thinking about what she said. He has never given anything she has ever said or done a second thought. This was definitely a change in his attitude, now if he goes back to his complete evil old self then I won’t be surprised at all! I must say that Samina Peerzada nailed every single scene in this episode. After all the problems were solved while Saboor Ali’s acting remained unconvincing, Samina Peerzada’s body language and expressions showed that she was still not out of the shock and stress which made those scenes more realistic.

Did you watch tonight’s episode of Beqasoor? Doo share your thoughts about it.

Mana Ka Gharana – Episode 06!

Ohkay so, this episode of Mana Ka Gharana was quite average because the way things were taken forward, it didn’t seem too convincing. Also, I hate to say this but I am not too happy with the way Mana’s character is turning out to be. I really hope to see her maturing on her own & realizing that she’s walking on a wrong path all by herself.

This episode mostly covered what Khizer was going through & how he was going out of the way to help Mana & Shehryaar. Shehryaar has made it very clear that he is not going to entertain Mana’s family & treat them with the respect they deserve because he is a bit too conceited & arrogant to be considerate. Where Khizer is sacrificing almost everything & most importantly his dignity by ignoring the things Shehryaar is saying only for the sake of Mana’s happiness, everyone else is turning out to be quite aloof in that regard!

Zarri, Malik & most importantly Ghalib aren’t too happy with this proposal & with Shehryaar in particular but I am amazed that no one has ever tried to give him a much needed shut up call when he puts Khizer down in front of all of them. All I see is some uncomfortable glances & raised eyebrows but no words that are actually needed in a situation like this! Like a dear reader of mine; Sabahet predicted, Gul Bahar only introduced Shehryaar to rule over Maalik because she knows that Mana is very dear to him & he would do everything for her happiness. Sadly, in this planning, where Maalik has taken a back seat & he has given a message loud & clear that he won’t let Gul Bahar rule him over again, Mana is the one who is getting trapped into it, out of all the people!

Collage 01

The way Saleha is smitten by the notion of how perfect Mana’s life is going to be with Shehryaar, I am sure it won’t take her too long to convince Maalik to take Gul Bahar back as now she would be related to Mana after her marriage too. I am sure that Maalik will have guts to take a stand against Gul Bahar for his & Zarri’s sake but I know that it would happen after a lot of emotional drama.

Honestly speaking, I am so disappointed to see Mana reacting like a child who has walked into a candy shop for the first time. When we were introduced to Mana’s character, we saw that she was the one who took care of each & everyone because she loved her family so much. She could read the minds of her family members as she has been so close to them throughout her life & except them, she has hardly known anyone, so what I really don’t understand is that ever since Shehryaar has come into the picture, how has Mana become so indifferent that she can not see how uneasy everyone else except Saleha is & how no one is jumping with joy with the news of Mana & Shehryaar’s marriage? Also, I find it a bit too hard to believe that Mana is not noticing how Shehryaar is treating her family. The thing that appealed to me the most about this drama was the way they all were shown to be so closely-knit & how they all were so considerate of each other but I see that no more & I am not happy with that!

I must say, for a woman who lives in a small town, Saleha is quite broad minded, which is good but equally bad too. Where Saleha didn’t find it odd that before finalizing the engagement, Shehryaar didn’t even invite Mana’s whole family to his house to introduce himself officially, to allow them to have a look at his lifestyle & where they’d be marrying their daughter off to, she was a bit too worried about the opinions of the family members who hardly show up at their doorstep & maintain a contact with them. I find it totally unconvincing that even Ghalib, who obviously isn’t thrilled by this whole scenario is having no say in this matter at all & he is allowing Saleha to take all the decisions on his behalf that too in such crucial matter that is concerning his only child. Saleha took a decision that someone should accompany Mana & Bam! She was ecstatic the moment Khizer agreed. I don’t know why but the ladies who lack basic sensibility are shown to be the ones running things in our dramas. Clearly, both Saleha & Mana are not that wise but sadly all the males of the house have taken a back seat & have let these two ladies on the loose to do as they please. Looks like the gentlemen have become more like spectators who’re watching a match they’re least interested in!

Collage 02

Khizer wasn’t allowed to step inside Shehryaar’s home & Mana didn’t find it odd at all. I thought may be she will say that if Khizer can’t come than she wouldn’t go inside too but she chose to walk in happily without even considering how insulting it must’ve been for Khizer. Even though I like this drama overall & think it is still a good watch, but somehow this is the point where the lack in the depth of script is chipping in & potentially ruining the drama for me! Gul Bahar’s whole scenario starting from her separation from Maalik to her reentry in their lives has been filled with a lot of loopholes & what gets to me is that Gul Bahar never ever left a good impression on this family but ever since she has come back, no one has tried to show some sort of hesitation & everyone looks comfortably numb with her presence. Even Maalik thinks as far as he has Zarri, he’s going to be fine but isn’t he supposed to take charge of the situation & tell Gul Bahar to leave his house immediately as she doesn’t belong here. Also, another thing that I find odd is that Ghalib has not even once tried to talk to Mana about this whole situation concerning Shehryaar’s proposal. He has not even for a single time spoken to his daughter to ask what she has in her mind & to also let her know what he thinks about Shehryaar & his attitude. I must say for the parents who only have one child, that too a daughter at that, both Saleha & Ghalib are a bit too naive, simple minded & comfortably numb!

Anyhow, this episode didn’t impress me much only because of Mana’s attitude & her family’s approach towards this whole proposal situation. Also, I am dreading seeing the next episode because Mana is going to utter that one dialouge that is a peeve of mine which is ‘Mai Shehryaar ke ilawa kisi aur se shadi nahi karoongi’. Grow up lady, seriously, grow up or curl up & dug yourself a burrow & don’t come out until your mind decides to mature & grow up too! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mana Ka Gharana.

The photography has been done by Tariq AK who is known to have taken pictures of many celebrities. Nowadays photographers try to come up with new ideas of taking these pictures and Tariq has used some new ways too. The photographer posted on his facebook page,

This Instagram window grabbed all the attention after Sanam Jung and Qassam… At time of booking Sanam told me that Qassam doesn’t like cameras around him and he doesn’t like to pose but after the shoot Sanam herself was shocked that Qassam had been very comfortable Infact he enjoyed while we were shooting … MashAllah both of them.”

Mira Sethi Provides Entertainment Of A Different Kind

0

Mira Sethi is currently been seen in HUM TV’s serial Preet Na Kariyo Koi and she has done a lot of other drama serials too. She is also a well known model now who has done a few prominent commercials, she has been part of fashion shows and recently did a photo shoot for the leading designer Nickie Nina.

2

Mira Sethi along with her friend Taimoor Salahuddin has started doing something which will provide some good entertainment to people. They made their first skit in which a housewife is shown keeping herself busy with accusing her servants of things they have not done because she has nothing better to do in life. The end shows that this woman likes drama too! Mira and Mooroo (Taimoor Salahuddin) play the different characters in the skit and they do well with bringing different shades of these characters. Mira is funny as the maid, this is the first time the viewers who watch dramas will see her in such an avatar.

mira

The skit video is being criticized by some people because Mira is holding and puffing a cigarette in it.

Preet Na Kariyo Koi – Episode 11!

Ohkay so, another week & another brilliant episode. I am so glad with the pace that they have opted for because the subject that they are dealing with needs this much coverage to make things work. I find it interesting that they are taking a good time in showing Shagufta’s struggles & growth because if they had missed any of the event from her life, things wouldn’t have made much sense & would’ve looked choppy.

Probably, this is going to be the last episode before they take a giant leap & show us how things will change once Shams will come out of the prison, that is why they kept the focus on all the hardships & obstacles that Shagufta is enduring. It was a golden chance for Shagufta to stand by her stand because she was just in the initial stages of her political career but Suleri didn’t let that happen. Shagufta herself didn’t realize when she started letting Suleri control her like his stooge. I loved the conversation Yazdani had with Shagufta where, like a genuine well-wisher, he indirectly warned her about Suleri & his intentions. As Yazdani rightly pointed out, Suleri was at the end of his political career but he hit a jackpot in the form of Shagufta Shehzadi. Yazdani perfectly understands how important Shagufta is for Suleri because as he mentioned, like a true politician, Suleri was using Shagufta as a front-man to portray to the people that his political party believes in woman empowerment & is a true depiction of progress. We usually do see how the politicians use females to represent their parties to earn a soft spot immediately through them & also to connect well with their followers because the moment a woman shows up at any such event, people start considering her an ideal figure who deals with so much pressures just for the well-being of her followers. I really like how subtly they have touched the mentality of the politicians & Suleri is a perfectly sketched character in that matter.

Collage 01

Ilyas was disappointed at the decisions Shagufta has made & he met her to request her to choose another area to contest from, in the elections. I really liked how they showed that Shagufta has now started to realize & understand the importance of her estranged family. She always took her family for granted when she was with them but all of a sudden when they walked out of her life, it did take a toll on her emotionally & that is why the conversation she had with her maid went to show that she misses their presence in her life. Just because Shagufta has matured enough to understand the value of her family, she understood Ilyas’s point of view & shared it with Suleri. Shagufta knows deep down that she has done a lot of emotional damage to her family, that is why she didn’t want to cause more distress to them but Suleri didn’t let that happen. It was a perfect time for Shagufta to understand that Suleri is only using her as a puppet because nothing that she will say would make him change his mind. Suleri made his point very clear to Shagufta that she is not in a position to choose things for herself & no matter what happens, she has to abide by the decisions he makes. I thought may be this incident would force Shagufta to understand the things Yazdani said to her but she chose to stay quiet as her hands are tied too as she believes that the only person who can help her & Shams is Suleri.

I find it commendable that not even for a second Shagufta has held Shams responsible for all the hardships she is facing. No matter how much she has gained in her life, she has never let that get to her head & make a point in front of Shams that she has attained a lot of success in his comparison. I like this quality of Shagufta that whenever she speaks to Shams, she speaks with the same love & affection that she had when she got married to him. She speaks to him like a wife who loves her husband a lot, is still emotionally dependent on him & irrespective of what has transpired between them, she will continue to love him unconditionally. At least, Shagufta has stayed true to her feelings & that is why she is doing everything to help her husband but Shams is just being himself. He was indifferent to her in the beginning & got married to her on Suleri’s orders without giving much thought to his decision & now once again, the moment she shows up, he never asks her if she is doing well or how hard things have been on her. Shams is only concerned with the success Shagufta has touched because that still is like a dream for him!

Bhola got a lot of coverage & he has become a center of attention in his family. Ilyas feels bound to do everything to make Bhola feel comfortable because he knows how his Chacha treated him when his own father died. Sadly, the relationship both Ilyas & Mariam share hasn’t bloomed into love. They are just married & the thought that crossed Mariam’s mind told the story of how both Mariam & Ilyas haven’t reached that level of emotion that a husband & wife who love each other are at. Ilyas may not show it but he is deeply affected by how Goshi ditched him & held him responsible for the things he wasn’t guilty of. For Mariam’s sake, I so hope they show that Ilyas at least acknowledges the fact that Mariam is the perfect partner & was the right choice for him in comparison to Goshi!

Collage 02

It was sad to see how Shams once again questioned & doubted Goshi for falling short of her responsibilities. A person at that stage shouldn’t do that but then again, all these things will take a toll on a man like Shams who only dreamt of having a political career but hasn’t been able to materialize his dream. He has gotten weaker emotionally & somehow the seed of envy has also been planted because he is seeing how his wife is progressing, someone who never wanted to be in the politics to begin with.

Goshi has started to get over burdened with the baggage that’s coming with the territory. She was already emotionally hurt with the way Bhola treated her but Suleri thought it was the best idea to sensationalize it to gain sympathy. Suleri is just a typical politician for whom, each & everything that happens is meant to be used in order to attain benefits from, but all this is new for Shagufta & that is why even after the reporters questioned her about her brother, she never uttered a single word against him & in fact thought of getting back in contact with him to make him understand what she is going through.

Overall this episode was very interesting & the preview makes it look even more promising because they will take a leap of time & will show us how Shams will change the dynamics of Suleri’s political party & Shagufta’s life. I am so glad that after so many episodes have passed by, this drama still is interesting & makes us look forward to what more they have in store for us. I must say, Hira looked absolutely beautiful & graceful in this episode too & Rehan Sheikh has done complete justice to the role that has been assigned to him. His acting is top-notch & he has added a life to Suleri’s character. The direction was spot on too & so were the dialogues. Can’t wait to see the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about this interesting episode of Preet Na Kariyo Koi! :)

Second Video Song Of Sanam Teri Kasam Released

0

Mawra Hocane’s upcoming film Sanam Teri Kasam’s first song video was released few days back. That song was titled Kheech Meri Photo and it showed Mawra Hocane’s character drunk and out of control. The video of another song “Tera Chehra” has been released. This is the song that shows scenes in the bath tub which according to the director took a lot of work to shoot. The director said that Mawra Hocane had to spend more than 20 hours in the bath tub to shoot these scenes. Just like the previous video in this video too we see Mawra’s character throwing herself at her hero after being rejected by the man she wanted to marry. Mawra also wears the red dress in this video which was seen wearing in the promotional posters. The song has been sung by Arijit Singh and it has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya. The lyrics of the song have been written by Shabbir Ahmed. The video is already being criticized by people because it has some very bold scenes.

Sanam Jung, a renowned & beloved Pakistani actress just got married & the pictures of her functions circulated on the social media. Where a lot of people loved the way she looked on most of her wedding functions, one of her Valima pictures caught the negative attention. It is an irony that people think the moment a picture flashes on their Facebook Newsfeed, they automatically gain access to criticize & judge the person in the picture.

Have a look at what people had to say about Sanam Jung’s Valima Picture:

Unfortunately, this has become a social practice where a bride is scrutinized for the choices she makes for herself on her big day. Please share your thoughts about this display of insensitivity towards the celebrity brides & brides in general & share your thoughts about how beautiful Sanam Jung looks.

Sanam Saeed Very Angry At The Media

0

Sanam Saeed is busy promoting her upcoming film Bachaana. She was invited to HUM TV’s Morning Show to talk about her film and a lot more along with Mohib Mirza who will be playing the leading role in the film alongside Sanam Saeed. Sanam Saeed has always been very cool headed in all her interview. Sometimes she does not talk a lot and whenever she does, she usually just sticks to talking about her projects.

1

This time Sanam Saeed got furious when Noor said that her wedding was a grand affair. Noor called her wedding “one of the biggest weddings of Karachi”. The media also reported that her wedding was celebrated in different countries and the wedding functions went on for days. Sanam Saeed was furious after hearing this. She said,

“Media is very fond of spreading nonsense. There was nothing like that, in fact it was the most simple wedding. There were less than 300 people.”

2

Hearing this Noor laughed because she thought a small wedding does not have 300 guests. To this Sanam Saeed replied,

“People nowadays have 500 or more than 500 guests. I didn’t invite a lot of people and they were offended but I told them that they were acquaintances. We work together, have a good time but I only invited people I laugh and cry with, talk to on daily basis, people who are my own.”

3

Sanam Saeed said that she sent mithai to everyone but only the near and dear ones were invited to the wedding. She also said that another reason for this was that she knows no one likes going to weddings and even if they come, they are usually complaining about something or the other. Sanam Saeed also talked about her wedding dress and why she chose to wear her mother’s dress.

Naraz – Episode 7 – 10

The biggest strength of this drama serial so far is that it is completely free of clichés. The problems between Azlan and his wife are not there because Azlan is cheating on her or because Azlan’s mother and sisters are conspiring to create misunderstandings between him and his wife but the problems between them are the sort which we do not see in our dramas very often. We do see people belonging to lower income houses in our dramas having financial problems but these problems have never been the main plot of a drama. Naraz has a brand new plot which is very convincing. The flaws in Azlan’s personality were highlighted right from the start therefore one can easily relate to why someone like him would feel worthless without money. In these episodes we saw Azlan struggling to make changes in his personality, to meet the demands of his ‘new’ life but Fariha’s sister’s attitude made it impossible for him to stay in that house and his ego which was already hurt was bruised even more because of everything that happened.

Although Azlan is guilty of having a big ego which landed him into trouble in the first place but he has certain good qualities as well. There was a time when this man was the perfect husband and father but all of that changed when he lost the money. Fariha was more than willing to stand by her husband’s side but Azlan felt so worthless that he started feeling like a victim himself and at the same time he feels this dire need to prove himself to his wife. His ego did not allow him to stay with his wife because he thinks he does not deserve to be with her until he can buy her a decent house and take care of her but it was also because of his ego that he took his son with him. He did not want his son living in a house where his father was not respected. Fariha’s character is very different from the usual women we see on screen too. She is very practical and logical. Now that she feels that she might not live for too long, she is trying her best to let go of her son. In this recent episode it was good to see her reaching out for Azlan but when she did not get through to him, she decided to give up on him completely. Azlan is an extremist who likes to do things his own way. He feels that he shouldn’t even get in touch with his wife until he has enough money to keep her with him. The logic is very twisted but I have no problem relating to his character because it is easy to understand why someone like him would feel this way.

naraz1

Another things about this drama which is very refreshing is the side characters. Whether it is Asad and his wife or Fariha’s parents, all the characters have a very positive attitude. None of these people are trying to break Azlan and Fariha’s house in any way and none of them have contributed to the problems that are there between this couple. Everyone on the other hand is trying their best to give them the right kind of support. Asad’s advice to Azlan is always spot on and Fariha’s parents are always more concerned about their daughter and her husband than ‘the marriage’! Never once have we seen Fariha’s mother treating her daughter or even her son in law as a burden. Both the parents are sensible people who understand Fariha’s problems and support her but at the same time we never see them blaming Azlan either. They have faith in their daughter and do not doubt her in any way. I must say that I had some serious reservations about Ayesha’s character and her relationship with Azlan but so far their relationship has been covered very well.

naraz2

The characters and story of Naraz is very different but the weakest link of this drama is its slow pace. You want to know what is going to happen next but you’re somewhat disappointed when nothing much happens when a new episode finally goes on air after a week. The story is moving forward gradually but if the drama had a fast pace then it would have been even more engaging. All the actors have done a commendable job including the child star. Faysal Qureshi and Sarah Khan have nailed their characters and I absolutely love the way the loving parents have been translated on screen.

Mothers From Another World!

0

Ohkay so, there used to be a time when our dramas were filled with amazing female characters but the most important character that almost everyone looked up-to was that of a mother because one way or the other, a mother had a very important role to play in the plot. Unfortunately, we experienced how writers creativity (coughing in sarcasm) took a toll on all the relations that are sacred to us but recently, they have literally butchered the concept of love, companionship, comfort & intuition that a mother is made of by showing us botched up mothers in our dramas & frankly speaking, no one understands these sort of mothers & no one can relate to them, why…because no one has seen such mothers & the likes of them in their real lives.

We have come across a lot of interviews where the writers believe they are showing us the “real picture” of what happens in our society but I would do the honors of bursting the bubble they live in that no matter how wrong a woman must be for someone else, when it comes to her children, she is always going to be an embodiment of selflessness, unlimited love, understanding & friendship because mothers are blessed with an intuition that never allows them to not notice the things their kids are going through. I am actually disgusted at how the writers have started using mothers as fillers who are free of everything, starting from sensibility to courtesy when it comes to their own children.

It is actually a sad state of affairs for our dramas that almost all the relations, well not almost, in fact all the relations have been ruined by the writers because they want to sensationalize & dramatize their stories by showing us extreme & most highly unlikely scenarios, but what I fail to understand is, what good are they achieving out of ruining a mother son or mother daughter equation in our dramas? It looks like the mother’s character is something that the writers do not pay attention to & when they are done with the whole story, they add the mother’s character as an after-thought, to complete the family picture because other than that, there’s no role that a mother plays in her children’s life & she is only used as a source to let everyone know how their hero & heroine made to this world because after that, her duty is done & she is free from all the obligations that a mother has towards her children.

Collage 01

It is quite amusing yet alarming to see them showing how the mothers are so oblivious of what their children are going through. I miss seeing such mothers who can sense the mental & emotional state of their kids just by having a look at them. It is actually quite contradictory that they start off at a point where they show that a mother is the most courteous & considerate human being that has walked on the face of the Earth, but it lasts till her kid; daughter especially lands into a trouble because that’s when the courtesy & consideration escapes from the roshan daan of the bathroom & mother takes a new janam & she is reincarnated as someone who is free of any such motherly instincts & we get to see a new avatar of mother who is worried about everyone else around her, except her own daughter.

Our recent dramas are filled with such beautiful examples that put all the mothers to shame because they do everything they are supposed to do, to make things even more difficult for a daughter. Ever since our writers have gotten fixated with the idea of rape, they have made sure that the rapist finds an alliance within his victim’s home & he hits a jackpot because it is the mother who is going gaga over the rapist of her own daughter for the reasons best known to her. The mahaan mothers in Chup Raho & Sangat are clear winners when it comes to befriending the rapists because when it comes to their daughters, they end up suffering from short term memory loss & easily forget what their daughter has been through. Our writers have really underestimated the power of a mother & the lengths she can go to in order to protect her child who has been through such a physical & emotional trauma. Where Rameen’s mother in Chup Raho was hired at Rs. 500/hour to say ‘Chup Raho’ repeatedly, Ayesha’s mother in Sangat is hired to create a comfy abode for her daughter’s rapist, but if I have to pick one of them for the Worst Mother of the Century Award, then hands down, Zubaida of Sangat is the undisputed winner because she has completely erased the memory of what happened to her daughter, she has defied the grandma gene because she is completely aloof to the condition of her ailing grand-daughter, she is educated enough to send her daughter off to see the shrink but doesn’t have a time to sit with her daughter herself, she is stupid enough to blame her daughter for flirting with her muh-bola beta aka rapist & to top it all, she has adopted the rapist & is doing everything to babysit him because she is so courteous that her heart will burst if she doesn’t shower someone with the love she carries in her heart for everyone, excluding her daughter & her granddaughter.

If the writers want to show mothers like Rasheeda of Sadqay Tumhare, then it actually makes sense because Rasheeda’s character was completely black & she was against each & everyone in her family. She never had a good relation with her mother, she hated her sister, she used & fooled her husband & then when it came to her daughter, she was against her happiness too, so that actually made us understand her character that Rasheeda was someone who could never see anyone else happy so to see her bent on ruining Shano’s life seemed justified from her perspective, but what justification do the writers have for coming up with the characters like Rameen & Ayesha’s mothers who are best of friends with EVERYONE around them, who are walking an extra mile for EVERYONE around them, who are babysitting EVERYONE around them except their own daughters? I find it hard to absorb that the mothers in our dramas are shown to form stronger ties & relations with strangers & not worry an ounce about the sufferings of their own children. It is often seen that if a daughter is in a vulnerable state & has hit the rock bottom, the mother would speak about all the weak points & will only talk about the negative side of the spectrum to shake & burden her daughter even more. Instead of telling her that things are going to be ohkay, our mothers are seen forcing their daughters to do the things that will never make them happy & won’t let their inner-selves be in peace. Recently, Munira in Gul-e-Rana has hopped on the bandwagon too & the way she is progressing, I am sure it won’t take her too long to make it to the Hall of Fame of worst mothers because Gul-e-Rana’s cousin, who hardly meets her could sense that Rana didn’t look happy, even the servant of the house Gulab Khan looked more like a mother to her because he could see that Rana was down & depressed, but the one who became the brand ambassador of blindfolds at that point was Rana’s mother Munira, who only showed up with a baton to remind her daughter that she has to please her sartaaj & she is not allowed to cause him distress or else her mother will go on a wheezing spree!

Collage 02

I actually detest the idea that mothers are only used as preachers & that too for all the wrong reasons. It’s been a while where we got to see such a scenario that in stead of worrying about her own nose, a mother got down to the level of her daughter & thought things through her daughter’s perspective. I thank my friend Fatima Awan for pointing out another questionable trend that when a daughter shows at a door step with a luggage in her hand, a mother never asks or gives a thought to what her daughter must’ve been through. In fact the moment the door bell rings, a mother rolls up her sleeves & starts brainstorming to come up with an emotional blackmailing tactic to send her daughter back to her sartaaj’s house. Kiran’s mother in Kankar was also another one of those mighty mothers who thought it was ohkay to let go of her husband’s secret history of domestic abuse in order to convince her daughter that it is ohkay to get beaten up by your husband because by the end of the day, you need to rely on a man for so many things & that’s how the life goes by! Another fact that is sickening is that they always show women from middle class & at times those who themselves are educated, who can do so much more than what they think. I am not generalizing here by speaking about a social class but it doesn’t quite hit home for me that mothers who do have a little more resources are shown so weak & highly dependent.

Oh, another trend that has been prevailing in our dramas is that behind every forced marriage, there is going to be a mother & make no mistake, she will do everything to hold her ground & would resort to lying if she feels the need to add more weight to her decision. I just watched Aabro (keep an eye for its overview though) & in this drama too, Ali’s mother, even after getting a clear cut STOP sign from her son is bent on getting him married to the girl she thinks is good for him. Why can’t we see more such characters of mothers like Durr-e-Shahwaar, who when sensed what her daughter was going through, decided to guide her using her own journey as an example? She was able to do that because she herself lived an exemplary life, that is why when she felt her daughter needed a lifelong lesson, she shared everything with her just in order to help the situation. Even though, this one isn’t that examplary of a mother but I liked the mother-children relation that was shown in Miraat ul Uroos, where Rafia was in an awe of her kids but when her eldest son Hammad, who she loved the most started to draw a line after his marriage, she didn’t make things awkward for him & took a step back to show her support even though she was hurt by his attitude.

Collage 03

It is actually a shame that now when I am trying to think about the characters of good mothers, I really am forced to do some thinking but when it comes to the weird mummies out there, the list is never-ending. I actually wish to see a mother & a daughter having a heart to heart conversation with each other. I actually wish to see such a scenario where a daughter doesn’t have to say anything & before the words make it to her mouth, it’s the mother who reads her mind & asks what she is going through. I so wish to see such a mother who isn’t so oblivious of her daughter’s hardships. I so wish to see a mother who creates such an atmosphere for her daughter where she knows that despite failing many a times, her mother is going to stay by her side & protect her no matter what. I so wish to see them showing us what an actual & ideal relationship between a mother & daughter is like. I so wish to see such a mother who fights against all the odds & stands by her daughter’s side no matter what. I so wish to see a mother who is more sensitive towards her own children than she is towards the strangers.

Our dramas have always been our pride & joy & we love it when we get to know that our dramas are being appreciated but unfortunately, it looks like some writers these days are only focused on ruining the image of our dramas not only in Pakistan but in the outside world too, because of their limited mental capabilities & typical mindedness. No doubt our writers deserve to be acknowledged for showing creativity in terms of writing but sadly, in a completely wrong direction. They have ruined each & every relation that we experience but I so wish they stop doing this to the sacred relation that a mother has with her offspring. I hope that before penning down the scripts & even before focusing on the problems & issues of a hero heroine, our writers put their heart & soul in the characters of a mother & would make her so strong that she will take the story forward by staying true to what she is known for & by showcasing what she is capable of. Please share your thoughts about this unfortunate portrayal of weak & clueless mothers & feel free to talk about the trends that you’ve noticed related to mothers in our dramas as well.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Fan Pays For Shahid Afridi’s Meal In Auckland

0

Ahmed Shehzad and Shahid Afridi are seen together a lot nowadays. Shahid Afridi was also at Ahmed Shehzad’s house on New Year night. Few days back Shahid Afridi’s reaction to one of the questions from the reporters at a Press Conference was criticized by many channels. But Shahid Afridi tweeted that he had respect for all journalists, which was his way of asking the media to move on.

1 2

Once again Shahid Afridi is in the media because when he landed in Auckland and he stopped at McDonalds on the airport to buy himself some food it turned out that he did not have the currency needed to buy the food. A fan who was there paid for his meal. Shahid Afridi tweeted about that too. He wanted everyone to know that he had US dollars but they won’t accept it. Shahid Afridi’s reply came when someone asked him how was Mcdonalds without dollars!

Here is the video that was shot at the airport:

Sanam Jung Enjoying Herself On Her Baraat – Video

0

Sanam Jung looked very happy in all her wedding pictures. The video of her mehndi in which she danced with her husband showed that Sanam Jung was going to enjoy and participate in her wedding functions just as much as everyone else. She also sounded enormously excited when she did her last Morning Show which was completely dedicated to the discussion about her marriage. Usually brides have to sit down quietly and watch everything in their wedding functions but Sanam Jung is not such a bride as is seen in this video.

1

The “joota chupai” custom is a very common tradition in Pakistani wedding which is a part of every baraat function. The friends and family members of the bride hide one of groom’s shoes and then he only gets it back when he pays a certain amount of money to them. It is considered the most fun activity of the Baraat function. In this video we see that a lot of people actively participated in the whole affair and Sanam did not just sit down and watch the show. We also see Sanam Jung taking an active part in the deliberations.
