Pot calling the kettle black

0

Popularity and acceptance of Indian entertainment content in Pakistan is an open and proven fact. Regardless of the political situation among Pakistan and neighboring India, Bollywood films have continued their acceptance among Pakistani film viewers and cine-goers.

Nearly all Pakistani news, sports and entertainment television channels give special coverage to Indian content comprising of Bollywood films, Bollywood award shows, Indian television dramas, reality shows. One name which clearly stands tall in this rat race is Geo Network, which started its operation in 2002 and became one of the earliest satellite news and entertainment channel of Pakistan.

Geo’s news channel Geo News gives priority coverage to Bollywood and Indian entertainment industry in all its news bulletins. Geo’s primary entertainment channel Geo Entertainment also reserves prime time slots to Indian content especially on weekends it airs Indian films and award shows. Not contented with all this, perhaps with the urges to promote Indian content even further Geo’s secondary entertainment channel Geo Kahani is specifically reserved for Indian content. In 24 hours of transmission, nearly 16 hours daily are reserved for Indian dramas, where the only Pakistani program of Geo Kahani is the morning show Subhe Pakistan hosted by Aamir Liaqut Hussain. Geo Kahani also airs Hollywood films on the weekends dubbed in Hindi.Geo Super the only private sports channel of Pakistan is also not behind as it airs India’s sports events like Indian Premier League. Geo’s film Distribution company Geo Films is a leading distributor of Indian Bollywood films in Pakistan.

Geo Kahani
Geo Kahani program schedule

Following the same urge, few years Geo Tv also launched an initiative of Aman Ki Asha (also known as Aman Ka Tamasha) to promote relations with India. Any independent study of Pakistani electronic media will place Geo Tv on the top spot when it comes to promoting Indian content.

When your institution has played a leading part in promoting a trend, then it feels really awkward when any anchor person of Geo Tv criticizes others for promoting Indian content. It is like the famous proverb Pot Calling the Kettle Black.

Just recently two of Geo Tv’s leading anchor criticized the trend of promoting Indian content by Pakistani media. The first one among them is renowned journalist and anchor Talat Hussain who in his show Naya Pakistan on Geo News critcised Shaista Lodhi (of entertainment channel Hum Sitaray) and Saahir Lodhi (of news channel Samaa Tv) upon promoting Bollywood’s film Dilwale. One wonders have Talat Hussain ever watched the channels of the media group he is associated with, if he had how come he never questioned Geo Tv over it, never voiced over it in his program Naya Pakistan. If he feels Pakistan is being culturally invaded by India, then why not name the biggest player of this field which is his own channel.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3im2y2_talat-hussain-bashing-shaista-lodhi_news

The second one in the list is the former President of Geo Entertainment, Aamir Liaqut Hussain (ALH) who resigned from his post in protest to the policies of his own channel. ALH was not happy when the news readers of Geo News appeared wearing the uniform of Army Public School (APS) on 16th December 2016. ALH counted this act derogatory towards the martyrs of APS, one of his concern was that the news readers were reading the Indian news while wearing the APS uniform. Though ALH has resigned from the post of the President of Geo Entertainment, he will continue to do the morning show Subhe Pakistan on the same channel Geo Kahani which currently is the only Pakistani content on this channel which otherwise is reserved for Indian content. So if Indian news was a concern, than what about the excessive 16 hours of daily Indian content on Geo Kahani

ALH

Again, another example of the double standards that our famous television anchors are known for. Time and again we see such gimmicks from our anchor persons which sounds right but lack substance as their own channels seldom adheres to such rants. Reforms begins from your home, so if our anchors are so much concerned on issues like promotion of Indian content or cultural invasion of India then its better to revise the policy of their own channel along with pointing to others like Pot calling the kettle black. If not then please keep your rants to yourself as we already have enough of such double standards in our society.

HUM vs. ARY Digital – Who Won The Race In 2015?

This year was definitely slightly better than the last one because it had more than just one decent drama to its credit. Last year Pyare Afzal was the only real sensation which blew the viewers away. This year too while there was only one play which truly hit a home run with majority of the viewers but overall there were quite a few dramas which were executed really well, gave the viewers some unforgettable performances to watch and were followed and appreciated by many viewers.

Having said that I must admit that the quality of dramas on both these leading channels has deteriorated over the years mostly because of the fact that there is a rat-race because of which everything needs to be done quickly. The writers do not get adequate time to pen down the script, the producers most often tell the writers what kind of a storyline they should follow therefore writers cannot entirely put their creativity to good use, the directors too are pressurized to get the drama wrapped up in a certain period of time and the actors also have very little choice because they have to choose one of these projects since almost everyone is playing it safe nowadays. Also, some very talented actors are being typecast.

Since last year we have been comparing HUM and ARY Digital as opposed to writing an overview of all the dramas of the year. The reason for this is that even though HUM and ARY Digital aren’t exactly giving the viewers the kind of dramas which were once the benchmark of these channels but these two channels are watched the most by the viewers. Geo television unfortunately did not give a single hit this year. In fact there wasn’t a single drama on Geo TV that truly attracted the attention of the viewers. The dramas on Geo TV lately seem to be influenced heavily by Turkish and Indian dramas.

drama2

When the year 2015 started HUM was airing plays like Sadqay Tumhare, Digest Writer, Zid, Aik Pal and Mehram among others. These dramas started in 2014 but they ended in the year 2015 therefore we will be counting them as 2015 dramas. Digest Writer was highly appreciated by people because of the script, direction and acting. Many people felt that it was the best drama of the season. Sadqay Tumhare was Mahira’s comeback play after Shehr-e-Zaat and it was also Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s first play that went on air after Pyare Afzal. The expectations from this drama were huge. The script of the drama was bold, the execution impressive and it had a stellar cast that gave their best performances. Sadqay Tumhare’s bold dialogues however did not resonate with many of the viewers but it also had a good fan following.

drama1

Zid was a complete disaster mainly because of the weak script. Bee Gul, who is popular for her “artistic” dramas was forced to write a commercial script by HUM and the result was a complete train wreck. While Aik Pal had some following, Mehram did not gain a lot of popularity. In the first season HUM did offer two dramas which attracted the attention of the viewers and kept many glued till the end.

dramas3

ARY Digital started the year 2015 with plays like Chup Raho, Mein Bushra, Doosri Biwi and Goya among others. All these dramas started in 2014 but they were still on air and being watched by the viewers in the year 2015. All these dramas had one thing in common – they started off as engaging plays but after a few episodes all these dramas went downhill and by the time they ended the viewers were happy to see them coming to an end!! ARY set new standards in terms of stretching dramas to a point that a lot of people stopped watching ARY’s dramas altogether. The characters and the story did not even make much sense by the time these dramas ended. Chup Raho was promoted as the most watched play of the season by ARY but it got nothing but criticism from the viewers.

drama5

Goya was shifted to 9 pm slot few weeks after it went on air and it was replaced by drama serial Dil Nahin Manta, the only attraction of the play Mein Bushra was Bushra’s character which was turned into another one of those bechari heroines after a few episodes and Doosri Biwi was literally just another Doosri Biwi play which made a mockery of marriage. Dil Nahin Manta and Nazdeekiyan were two more plays that aired in the first season and they don’t even deserve a mention here.

drama6

In the first season, HUM definitely took the lead with Digest Writer and Sadqay Tumhare. Both these dramas were appreciated by the viewers and were the most talked about dramas of the first season. ARY Digital was discussed mostly by the viewers for the twisted story lines and the way in which the dramas on ARY were stretched beyond limit.

hum

Second season of the year started with brand new dramas on HUM like Alvida, Diyar-e-Dil, Jugnoo, Mol, Karb and Kitna Satatay Ho. Diyar-e-Dil was undoubtedly the biggest hit of this season, it was liked by many because it was a complete package. It proved to be one of those rare dramas which the viewers remember for a long time.

drama7

Alvida was enticing and it brought the Dil-e-Muztar jodi back on screen therefore it was followed by many. It also marked the comeback of Naveen Waqar in dramas and was fast paced. Jugnoo was enjoyed by those people who wanted to see something different and Mol also was considered a popular drama. Karb and Kitna Satatay Ho didn’t get a lot of popularity but they didn’t go unnoticed either.

alvida

Mohabbat Aag Si and Muqaddas were also popular although they aired at 9pm. The strategy of showing enticing dramas which aired more than once a week worked for HUM for the 9pm slot.

drama8

The dramas that aired on ARY in the second season were Meray Dard Ki Tujhe kya Khabar, Zinda Dargour, Tere Dar Par, Aitraz, Mumkin and Daraar. Some of these plays are still on air because the plays on ARY end only when the producers are very sure that they got their money’s worth!

drama9

None of the dramas which aired on ARY in the second season were popular among the viewers. They did not even boast of a star cast and the only drama Aitraz which had a star cast had a very weak storyline. Mumkin and Meray Dard Ki Tujhe Kya Khabar were followed by the viewers but they couldn’t pass as dramas which were hits. HUM, on the other hand gave the biggest hit of the season and the year in this season. It also showed a couple of dramas which were definitely a lot better than the dramas ARY Digital showed therefore clearly HUM was the winner in the second season as well.

There has been a complete and utter disregard of viewers’ choice by ARY this year. The fact that the biggest hit of last year Pyare Afzal was replaced by a drama like Chup Raho pretty much says it all!

winner

HUM was a clear winner this year not because it gave a lot of quality dramas to its viewers to watch but only because it gave a handful of quality dramas which were in every way much better than anything which ARY had to offer. Diyar-e-Dil was the biggest accomplishment of HUM this year. There is a lot of room for improvement however because the promos of the latest dramas on HUM TV clearly suggest that HUM is all set to take the bechari aurat route too!! Also plays like Sangat and Gul-e-Rana are following in the footpath of drama serial Chup Raho, which people probably watched out of curiosity but was most definitely not a favorite. Viewers still have huge expectations from HUM and hope that they will deliver this year. There was a time when plays like Vasl, Dastan, Qaid-e-tanhai, Mastana Mahi, Meera Naseeb. Pani Jaisa Pyar, Mein Abdul Qadir Hoon, Maat and Hamsafar all went on air within a span of only 2 years. And HUM TV’s “average” dramas in these two years were plays like Parsa, Meray Qatil Meray Dildar and Sanjha.

films

ARY Digital definitely delivered when it came to revival of cinema in Pakistan but failed miserably in giving its viewers quality dramas to watch. Jawani Phir Nahi Aani was the biggest hit of all times and Ho Mann Jahan is already making waves as the most awaited film of the year 2016.

Do share your thoughts about the dramas you watched in 2015. Do you agree that HUM was a clear winner this year?

Ayesha Omar Talks About The Accident

0

Everyone was shocked and very concerned when they found out that their favorite stars had a terrible accident. Prayers came pouring in and people wanted to know how they were doing. Soon after wards Fakhar-e-Alam tweeted about their condition in which he said that Ayesha had suffered multiple injuries and Azfar had an injury on the head. Fans were happy to know that the two were in stable condition.

Ayesha Omar and Azfar have not talked about the accident or their injuries since it happened. Ayesha finally decided to break the silence on her facebook page. She shared everything from how the accident happened to what her condition was after that. She wrote,

“As you all must know, I’ve broken my right collar bone and fractured my right shoulder. The last three days have been excruciatingly painful and i got no sleep the first 2 nights despite a mixture of heavy painkillers and sedatives. Finally got a few hours last night and I’m back home from the hospital. I didn’t lose consciousness at the time of the accident despite being in agonising pain and my first thought was of gratitude. I was shocked and grateful to be alive and wanted to be out of the car as soon as possible but was not allowing anyone to touch me because I knew I had broken something in my shoulder and didn’t want to be mishandled.”

24

Talking about the accident she wrote,

“We hit an overtaking truck on the highway just before Hyderabad and had two collisions due to being bumped into by another truck from the back. It’s a miracle that me and Azfar came out alive because the car was completely destroyed. I was immobile and picked up by Azfar and a group of passersby and put into a police mobile that transported us to a rundown government clinic in Jamshoro. My next few thoughts were a mixture of extreme terror of being kidnapped or mugged by dacoits on the highway taking advantage of our vulnerable situation and of thousands of little kids strewn on the ground after various explosions in the world, with no one to help them and give them any medical help.”

26

The good thing was that Azfar although had a head injury but he was fine otherwise. Ayesha further said,

“Luckily Azfar was in complete control despite sustaining a minor head injury and it was him who took care of me for the next 3 hours in Jamshoro and during the excruciating, bumpy and never-ending 4 hour drive alone in an ambulance back to Khi. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have made it back safely and God knows how I would’ve been handled. Those 6 hours were the toughest few hours of my life and Azfar Rehman protected and cared for me like I was his own child. God bless him a hundred times over and may everyone have friends like him in their lives. He’s proved to be the most amazing friend and care-taker ever. He helped me endure my pain, deal with the trauma and panic, kept wiping my unstoppable tears, and kept me hydrated till we reached Khi. From there on, it was just x-rays and painkillers.”

Talking about what Ayesha wants to do next. She said,

“I’m in too much pain, too exhausted and weak to pick up the phone and talk all the time but will be able to do so and meet people from day after. Recovery time is 6-8 weeks and I’ll be home bound mostly. A much-needed break from my crazy lifestyle. Just wanted to share my experience and thank you all for the boundless love and wishes.”

She also mentioned how thankful she was to her friends who were by her side in this troubled time. She wrote,

“Maria Wasti, Erum Shahid, Alexandre Rizvi, and Mahnoor Sherazee have been by my side throughout and I could not ask for better care-givers. They did not wince once and have taken care of me beyond any expectations while being in constant touch with my poor stressed mum who was unable to travel immediately. I love you guys and cannot thank you enough. I hope I’m able to do the same for you all, if (God forbid) need be.”

Fakhar-e-Alam Talks About His Failed Marriages

Fakhar-e-Alam started his career as a singer but now he is more well known enjoying a very important position of Chairman Censor Board. He hardly ever gives interviews but just like every other person who is usually not seen giving interviews Nadia Khan succeeded in having a candid chat with Fakhar-e-Alam also and just like many of her other guests she also revealed some things about him which most people don’t know.

2

Nadia Khan talked to Shamoon Abbasi about his marriages and why they failed and now she took up the same topic with Fakhar-e-Alam. The only big difference is that while everyone knows about Shamoon’s failed marriages, not too many people know that Fakhar-e-Alam also married twice before settling down with his present wife. He also has two kids, a daughter who is 6 year old and boy who is 4 year old. Nadia Khan asked him why his first two marriages didn’t last long and this one did. To this Fakhar-e-Alam replied,

“It is up to God really, marriage is a gamble for everybody. I think we all go through tough times. You’ve gone through a tough time, I have gone through a tough time. It is a very normal thing, it can happen to anyone. Talking about myself I have to say that I am more steady now. Let me say one thing in our society divorced women are under a lot of pressure, I don’t appreciate that at all. I respect both my ex-spouses. I don’t like to talk against them and I don’t like to hear anything against them from anyone else.”

3

Unlike many of the men who get divorced Fakhar-e-Alam does not want to blame his ex-spouses. He clearly said,

“I take responsibility for both the divorces. Why should I hold anyone else responsible?”

Nadia Khan was shocked to hear Fakhar-e-Alam take responsibility and appreciated his sense of responsibility.

Aabro Is The Story Of Another Spoiled Girl With No Morality

0

Drama Serial Abro which started on HUM last night has some big names attached to it. The writer is Qaisra Hayat, Umera Ahmed has written the screen play for the drama and has also edited the script and the director is Illyas Kashimri, another big name in our drama industry. When there are such big names attached to a drama you expect something decent and responsible if not perfect. Aabro is unfortunately another story that is based on showing a spoiled girl who is talking on the phone with boys all the time, brags with her friends about her boyfriends and has no respect for her mother who works day and night to make sure that her children get a good life and are well qualified. Watching this first episode will make you question why is showing such girls in our dramas so important and why are these girls playing leading roles in dramas?

abro

The following clip from the drama shows Aabro having a fun chat with her friends. It is disappointing to see our dramas showing such things like they are common practice and what is even more disappointing is that this drama is titled after the name of this girl who is hardly a role model for anyone. What are we showing in our dramas and what are we trying to tell our girls? Are we saying that all of this is okay? Are we saying that all this is normal? In almost every play nowadays we see girls showing no respect for their parents and going after rich men. The channels are glorifying something which should be shunned. This is not a way to create awareness or showing reality but this is like spreading immoral behavior. If you haven’t watched the first episode, watch the clip and decide for yourself.

Tere Mere Beech – Episode 04!

Ohkay so, this drama is getting better & better. I actually enjoy watching Tere Mere Beech & look forward to what is yet to come. I am sure things are going to get a lot more interesting & better but I really wish they maintain the pace & don’t slow things down!

Ali’s mother has made it very clear that she is not thrilled by the idea of Ali & Nadia’s marriage. She has a lot more reservations than Ali could think of because first & foremost she really can’t think beyond the class difference that exists between Nadia & Ali. At certain points, she does make sense because she knows it will be hard for Nadia to adjust to their lifestyle & also she fears that there might be a few aspects that Ali might have an issue about with his wife later on but so far, Ali has been very patient & understanding. He understands his mother but he also believes in showing her other side of the picture. I really hope that the way Ali defends Nadia & the things that don’t bother him at all about her before their marriage remain the same & he proves himself to his mother that his decision of getting married to Nadia was right. I do have a feeling that no matter how hard he will try, he will end up succumbing to his mother’s pressures. I somehow like that Ali is well aware of his mother’s shortcomings, he knows that she is rigid & tends to get a lot judgmental that is why he is already looking for solutions by thinking that he & Nadia should live separately but I am sure the decision that Nadia has taken to live her MIL is going to cost her a lot because I feel no matter how good Nadia might be, she is underestimating her mother in law’s rigidity.

Once again, Nighat proved that she is irrational & she is going to be irrational when it comes to Hareem. She didn’t even bother informing her about Nadia’s engagement right till the end but expected Hareem to be all excited & show contribution in making Nadia’s engagement a gathering to remember. I somehow don’t get how can they keep Hareem in the dark about each & everything so easily. Like when someone in the family is getting engaged, girls tend to discuss their shopping, their dresses, makeup, jewelry but they tried to show as if Hareem doesn’t live with them because she had no idea about the reason why Nadia’s in-laws were visiting. Anyways, Nighat’s attitude & tone changed the moment she started speaking to Hareem & she made it sure to let her know that Hareem is bothering her & she isn’t happy with everything that she is doing. Also, I am not sure why didn’t Nighat bother telling Ali’s mother that she had 3 daughters & not 2. Yes, she sent Hareem away the day Ali’s mother came to see Nadia but she could’ve casually told her that Hareem was raised by her uncle & aunt. It seemed quite odd that Nighat waited till the last moment & forced Hareem to make a desperate entry to introduce herself. It’s like Nighat is too ashamed to admit that Hareem is her daughter & that is something that Hareem has an idea of that is why she feels upset with her mother.

Ali saved the day & convinced his mother that he had no issues with Hareem being Nadia’s sister or the fact that Nighat tried to conceal it. Also, after they got engaged & when they discussed Hareem’s attitude, Nadia herself admitted that Hareem was more like a topic which wasn’t discussed in their family for years
so that is why, now when Nighat tries to play the victim by showing that she is overly concerned about her daughter Hareem, it makes no sense because when the time was right & when Hareem needed her attention the most, Nighat stayed aloof to her daughter. I think Nighat is being illogical when she expects Hareem to be absolutely normal with her or her two perfect daughters because she can’t be like that as she hasn’t been welcomed in their family wholeheartedly as well. As far as Nighat is concerned, I find her wrong but I also think that even Nadia & Sadia don’t make an effort with Hareem either. They both are too busy with themselves or in their lives that they don’t care about Hareem at all making her feel unwanted most of the times.

Hareem is definitely making a huge mistake by trusting Fahad as he is obviously a predator & he isn’t sincere with Hareem. It is so obvious that nothing that anyone would say will make Hareem change her mind about Fahad & looks like in the next episode Ali will find out more about Fahad but I am sure it won’t help Hareem as she won’t listen to anyone. Overall the drama is quite interesting & I am looking forward to what’s in store for us. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Tere Mere Beech too.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

“We Don’t Let Our Women Be Happy” – Bushra Ansari

0

Bushra Ansari is a powerhouse of talent. There is so much that everyone can learn from her not just about career building and determination but also about life. It isn’t very often that Bushra Ansari talks about her personal life but this time when she was invited as a guest in Ek Nayee Subha With Farah she talked about how she used to be and how much she has changed over the years. She said,

“There was a time when I used to cry a lot. Every time I used to feel underappreciated by my husband in any way I used to cry all night. I always used to wait for him to appreciate me in some way but it never happened and slowly I learned to be happy and stopped looking for his appreciation because I knew it wasn’t going to happen!! Husbands in our society think that praising their wives or appreciating them is wrong although it would be so good for their marriages if they do that.”

Bushra Ansari also thinks that our society in general does not allow women to be happy. While talking about the women in the audience she said that you don’t see them laughing as much as the men because,

“It is almost as if our women are not allowed to be happy. Even in our dramas we don’t see women being happy. The women who come to these talk shows can’t even laugh properly because people will criticize them if they do!!”

Here are some pictures from the show:

Shah Rukh Khan Thinks Sahir Lodhi Is “Beautiful”

0

Everyone is well aware of the fact that Sahir Lodhi has always tried his best to look and act like Shah Rukh Khan although he says that he does not like it when people compare him with the Indian actor. His entire look and style of talking however suggest something completely different. When Shah Rukh Khan and Sahir Lodhi finally met, it was like the impossible happening since these two people are connected in some way for the longest time now even though they have never met each other. People cracked jokes about their meeting in Sahir Lodhi’s show on social media too. Undoubtedly these two individuals do have similar looks but Sahir Lodhi’s attempts to talk like Shah Rukh too is what irritates people.

shahrukh sahir

The video in which Sahir Lodhi requested people to stop comparing him with Shah Rukh Khan has been removed from most of the websites prior to the interview. In this video he even said that Shah Rukh was the one who copied him! He addressed Shah Rukh Khan in the video and said, “it is high time that you should stop copying me.”

20

During the interview Sahir Lodhi shared with Shah Rukh Khan that ever since he was in the university people told him he looked like Shah Rukh Khan. It seemed like that is something which the Indian star knew already and he told him that Sahir had a very unique style and he should not let people say things like that to him. Shah Rukh Khan also called Sahir Lodhi “Khoobsurat” which isn’t really a compliment for a man!! He said,

” I have heard you on radio and you have a style all of your own. If ever someone tells you that you look or sound like me tell them that your style is your very own!”

21

Kajol couldn’t stop laughing all through this discussion but Shah Rukh Khan kept a very serious expression on his face.

See the video and judge if Shah Rukh Khan really was complimenting Sahir Lodhi or making fun of him!!

Gul-e-Rana – Episode 7

This episode was far better than all the other episodes of Gul-e-Rana that have gone on air so far. Firstly because for a change we did not get to see a lot of Maria, Laila and all the extras who have been over crowding this drama and secondly because for the first time after the first 2 episodes I saw Gul-e-Rana as a strong girl who took a stand for herself. The worst part of this episode of course had to be the unnecessary and uncalled for physical contact between the leads. I must say that I am gradually getting used to watching Sajjal Ali get physically abused on television since she was abused in every other episode of Chup Raho and now we see Adeel treating Gul-e-Rana like she is his own personal property. Surely this message can and has been conveyed in many other dramas in more subtle ways but this is most definitely not the case in Gul-e-Rana. Having said that I must admit that the way the story progressed today was convincing for a change.

It became quite evident today that Adeel only wants to marry Gul-e-Rana so that he will be in a position to dictate his own terms and conditions to her. Love has nothing to do with this whole affair. Adeel cannot stand the fact that this girl does not listen to him. She does not submit herself to him the way all the other girls do and the only way she will have to do that would be if she is his wife. The reasons Adeel gave his step-mother for marrying Gul-e-Rana were all wrong and he knew it. He knows that Rana would not like to look after him and he is the last person she would want to marry. Rana’s sister made it quite clear to him how Rana felt about him. Gradually everything that was said and done made his decision final. Adeel wants to make Rana suffer for the rest of her life and that is the only reason why he wants to marry her.

gul e rana

Tonight it was great to see the Gul-e-Rana we saw in the first two episodes. The way she stood up for Adeel’s ex-girlfriend and later on for herself showed that she was strong enough to stand up for herself and others. It also made me wonder why she couldn’t talk to her mamoo about the way Adeel treated her since she was willing to talk to him for the secretary. And I am not exactly looking forward to this strong girl becoming a victim of circumstances like Ayesha of Sangat.

For the first time tonight Feroze Khan looked good playing this character and Sajjal Ali was at her best too. Things have taken a terrifying turn and tonight’s episode definitely gave me a reason to tune into the drama next week too. I really wish though that all this physical abuse was not part of the drama since Adeel and Rana’s relationship is going to be a rocky one (to say the least) therefore this abuse might just be a constant part of this serial. I saw a bit of Zaroon in Adeel today. Zaroon of course was toned down but he too was a flirt, he was rich, he did not respect women, he and Kashaf never got along, he slapped Kashaf and he started taking interest in Kashaf only after she showed absolutely no interest in him. The way Zaroon’s character was translated on screen of course was entirely different and Adeel is definitely a lot more aggressive and extreme than Zaroon. I really do think that the writer has taken inspiration from some very popular dramas of the past especially the ones starring Fawad Khan!

The preview of the next episode suggested that Adeel might get married to Rana on gun point, now the question is that is such a nikkah even valid? Will we see another victim like Rameen and Ayesha who will stay quite and suffer because she does not want to hurt her family? Will we see another man get away with it all?

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Farwa Ki ABC – Last Episode

What a beautiful happy ending – this was definitely the best way to end this play. Right till the end none of the viewers were sure who they wanted to see Farwa with and no one wanted to see Sir Mustansar or Gogi getting hurt too. This was the only way to ensure everyone’s happiness and although Farwa and Gogi had so much in common but sometimes it takes people with opposite personalities to make a marriage work. Gogi’s character and Ahmed Hassan’s flawless acting yet again was a show stealer. Ahmed Hassan is immensely talented; making people laugh is a tough job but he makes it look like it is absolutely no problem making people laugh over and over again. Gogi’s character was etched-out brilliantly too but non of the other actors who do comic roles could have carried it with the “grace” with this man did – he made a very annoying character extremely likeable. The explanation which Gogi gave Farwa made a lot of sense. It is true that these two had been playing games ever since they met and someone needed to sit down and think if they could continue playing these games their whole life or it was time to end everything here. Gogi’s decision to end everything and Sir Mustansar’s confession of love changed everything. Gogi’s meeting with Farwa’s parents and all the other scenes in this episode with Gogi were hilarious as usual.

Right from the get-go we were shown that Farwa felt belittled when people who loved her compared her with Asma. Asma of course was always right – the perfect child and Farwa on the other hand could not do anything right. Knowing that for Mustansar Farwa was far more important than Asma was what changed Farwa’s mind. She could not spend the rest of her life with someone who would always think that Asma was better than her. Later on, the scene in the end when Mustansar told Asma that she was wrong about Farwa boosted her confidence even more. Farwa needed someone like that in her life who would value her and make her feel like she was someone special too. Adnan Jaffer was the perfect choice for playing the role of Mustansar, he always manages to give every role he plays his best. Sonia Hussain outshone in a different character and I hope that she keeps on experimenting with different roles.

I must say that I felt like Asma owed Junaid an apology or it would have been good to see Junaid taking a stand for himself in the end. It was an absolute delight to watch Gogi and Silky joining the happy family in the end. Tanveer’s relationship with everyone he worked for was shown superbly right till the end. There were time especially in the beginning when I felt like Tanveer was being given a lot more screen time than he should have been given but later on when the story unfolded the viewers found out that Tanveer would play a major role in turning things around. Asma Ghaznavi’s character started off as an interesting one but later on it became a little too negative. I wish we saw some positive aspects of Asma’s personality because her obsession with making Farwa feel bad about who she was wasn’t pleasant to watch. She was always trying to prove Farwa wrong and herself right, right till the end.

The play would have been even better had it ended a little earlier because the last few episodes were repetitive. Overall, it was a very entertaining play in which we got to see some of the best performances by all the actors involved. Ahmed Hassan was definitely the star of this serial and Sonia Hussain played her role really well too. It was great to see Pari Hashmi and Yasir Mazhar in roles different from what they are usually seen doing on television. The title however still has me confused. The conversation between Gogi and Farwa suggested that Gogi was the one teaching Farwa the ABCs of life all this time but it definitely did not seem that way. Farwa did not learn anything in the entire serial, she was only happy in the end because she found the right person to spend the rest of her life with.

Did you watch this last episode of Farwa Ki ABC? Do share your thoughts about it.

Is Naveen Waqar All Set To Start Over Again?

Naveen Waqar was a big sensation after Hamsafar. She played her role well and made the viewers look forward to see more of her but then her marriage with Azfar changed everything. She became the other woman and people saw her as the girl she played in Hamsafar in real life too. The criticism against this couple was so strong that for more than a year they went in hiding only to be back with their own sitcom. When people started warming up to them Salma, who was Azfar’s ex-wife started talking openly about her divorce and once again Naveen and Azfar’s relationship was questioned by many. Few weeks back the news of their divorce hit everyone hard. People criticized Azfar more than they did Naveen.

21 22

It looks like Naveen Waqar has put the past behind her and she wants to start all over again. She refused to talk about her marriage and divorce saying it is her personal matter but this picture from her latest photo shoot shows that she wants people to see her as the lively woman she once was and not as a victim. Naveen is pretty, stylish and talented. She has been seen in a number of dramas this year.

Babar Zaheer did Naveen’s hair and make-up for this photo shoot which was shot by M.Sami. This is the only picture that has been revealed so far but there is a good reason why people say that a picture is worth a thousand words!!

Aamir Liaquat Resigns From Geo TV In A Dramatic Way!!

0

Aamir Liaquat always manages to attract the attention of the public in some way or the other. This time around Aamir Liaquat resigned from Geo TV once again because he thought that it was wrong of Geo News to ask their anchors to wear APS uniform when they were reading the news. He said that he even called the high ups late but his voice was not heard. It sounded like he felt “used”. He said that he was only used to get ratings for Geo Kahani because the channel was not getting good viewership but otherwise Geo TV did not care about his sentiments at all. Aamir Liaquat said all this on his live show on Geo Kahani. He said that he was not happy leaving Geo but now that he had resigned from it, he has no intentions of ever taking his position in Geo TV back. He also said,

“I can’t work in a place where people’s views and opinions are suppressed. Where people’s voice is not heard. I called many of my high ups yesterday but no one talked to me which means they do not want to hear what I have to say.”

Geo TV responded to these allegations in this way.

Sanam Jung’s Exclusive Pictures With Her Fiancé

The news that Sanam Jung was committed to someone came as a surprise to many when she disclosed it in Tonite With HSY. Sanam only hinted that the man she was in love with was a pilot, nothing more was said. This discussion came up when HSY questioned her about her link up with Waqar Zaka. Sanam said that this was entirely false news, in fact she never even met Waqar Zaka her entire life but yes there was someone special in her life who was a pilot and marriage was definitely on the cards.

Although Sanam Jung is a very private person, she is not even active on social media but in today’s day and age when you are as famous as Sanam is, you can’t possibly hide the identity of someone you are engaged too for long. Sanam Jung’s fiancé’s name is Syed Abdul Qassam Jafri. He is a Certified Flight Instructor at Alpha Tango Flying Services in San Antonio, United States. According to the sources the couple has been dating since 2012 and are now thinking about getting married.

Here are some pictures of the happy couple:

“I have been rejected too, I have also cried” – Shamoon Abbasi

0

Shamoon Abbasi is someone who is unfortunately known more for his failed marriages than anything else. Every time people discuss him it is mostly because of his failed marriages and not because of everything that he has done in his career. Shamoon Abbasi shared in Nadia Khan’s Morning Show today how it made him feel like when people passed comments which were hurtful and other things which suggest that he is a bad person. He said,

“I am not a hypocrite, I believe in having honest relationships. I marry the girls I wanted in my life, I did not have affairs. I can also have relationships outside marriage but I have been very conscious that being a Muslim it is wrong to live with a girl without being married to her. People have one wife and 13 girlfriends and that is okay with people but a person whose marriages have failed people judge them. Even if there is a picture of me with my co-star or friend people pass degrading comments which is upsetting but I don’t let it get to me.”

23

Shamoon said that somehow people always think that it must have been the man’s fault when that is not always the case. He said,

“I have also been rejected by my wives, women left me too. Why do people take it for granted that the man has to be at fault? I have cried and begged my wives not to leave me but they left me any way. I have been hurt and I have been rejected. Thankfully I have fans who love for my work and there is only a selected group of people on social media who are obsessed with marriages and divorces, that is all they want to talk about.”

22

Talking about why all his relationships failed, he said,

“In all my 3 marriages, I realized that women do not like everything to go steady. When everything is going right, they want that there should be some fluctuation. I felt like I needed someone who would be willing to change for me but women want me to change, they want a saint. I do not cheat, I do not gamble but I am not perfect either and I needed someone who would accept me for who I am.”

21

Shamoon Abbasi is currently busy shooting for an action series titled “Yeh Janoon” in which he will be playing the role of a police officer.

Sangat – Episode 18

Repetitive, predictable, lame, sickening and extremely disappointing – these few words explain this particular episode more than any other! It was quite obvious that the “saza” Ayesha had in her mind for Shahwez would be that he stays in her mother’s house in “that” room for the rest of his life. Although the writer and the director have tried their best to convince the viewers that this indeed would be the ultimate “saza” for this man but somehow I find it extremely lame and can’t relate to this man’s misery. The scenes between Ayesha and Shahwez make me cringe now, although Ayesha is doing all of this to make him suffer but they are spending a little too much time together considering their history! Sometimes less is more therefore it would’ve been better if all of this could have been summed up in one final confrontation instead of showing Ayesha “punishing” this man over and over again because no matter how many times she does it I still don’t feel for him and I still am very sure that this “saza” is not “saza” enough!!!

After watching this episode and many more before it I am wondering if this drama really was about Ayesha’s “saza” or was it about Shahwez’s “saza”!! The way Shahwez treats Salma goes to show that he has actually learned nothing from his “mistake”!! He still has absolutely no respect for women, even if that woman is crazy enough to love him even after knowing everything about him. The way Shahwez told Salma off every single time he talked to her made me wonder what was going through the writer’s mind when he penned down those scenes. The focus on Salma’s “love” for Shahwez is sickening. I always thought that Salma will be the one who will help Ayesha punish Shahwez in some way that might resonate with the viewers but now I fail to understand why Salma’s character is there. Is the writer trying to show that Shahwez is still the bad guy but he is a totally different person around Ayesha – is that supposed to be impressive in some odd, sickening way??

Adnan is still “struggling”, well at least we got to see a glimpse of him too doing whatever he has been doing for the past 4 episodes or so. Therefore the entire episode wasn’t just dedicated to the new found relationship Ayesha has with her rapist! I am extremely disappointed with the recklessness with which this script has been written and handled. Next time our writers want to create some controversies to gain the attention of viewers they should be kind and sensitive enough not to base such a story on a highly sensitive topic like rape.

As if watching what is unfolding in this drama is not depressing enough, when you see the promos of upcoming dramas or even those that are currently on air in the break you’re even more disgusted to watch that every other drama shows women crying and pleading sometimes because they are helpless and at other times because their husband sold themselves off to another woman!! Our writers and directors rely heavily on showing women being insulted in some way in dramas to gain trps. I am utterly disappointed, appalled and disgusted by the everything that is being shown in Sangat and by everything else that is being shown in our dramas nowadays.

Feel free to vent out!!

Bollywood’s Bajirao Mastani stuck in the Federal Censor Board

In Pakistan, currently three film censor boards are functional. To screen a film in civil administrated areas of Punjab and Sindh censor certificate from Punjab Borad of Film Certification (PBFC) and Sindh Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is required respectively. For all the rest of regions i.e. KPK, Balochistan, Federal Capital Islamabad as well as the cantonment areas of Sindh and Punjab censor certificacte from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is required.

These three censor boards often became a point of debate due to their inconsistence decisions. Majority of the members of the PFBC and SBFC are former artists or cultural activist, whereas the CBFC has a majority of bureaucrats and retired security officials.

The recent example of inconsistent decision making from censor boards is regarding the Bollywood film Bajirao Mastani due to release on Friday 18th December 2015. It is based on the historical events of famous Marhatta ruler Bajirao and his wife Mastani (Mastani is considered as Muslim by few historians). The PBFC has issued the censor certificate without any objection, the SBFC has allowed the screening after cutting a merely 20 second sequence. However the film is stuck in CBFC who have objections on its screening.

Speaking to Express Tribune the chairman of CBFC has explained their twisted logic as follows.

Mobasher Hasan, chairman of the CBFC, told The Express Tribune the reason behind the decision. “Firstly, the film is in Hindi and our ordinance does not allow Hindi films to be screened,” he said. “Secondly, it is a historical drama that is indirectly against Islam and Muslims,” he further added.

Although it was expected that intimate scenes and certain action sequences might prompt such a decision, Hasan clarified this was not the case. “There are intimate scenes in the film but they were not a major concern for the panel,” he noted. While the film was rejected by a panel initially, local distributors have called for a full board review of the film, once again.

With only one day left in its release the film is expected to get a censor certificate from CBFC today after review from the full board. In case the film fails to get a censor certificate from CBFC, it will only be released in the civil administrated areas of Punjab and Sindh. However such inconsistent decision making from the three censor boards always raise questions on the code of censor followed by these boards.

Earlier this year a Pakistani film Swaarangi was banned by CBFC but passed the knives of PBFC and SBFC without any cuts. Similarly a Bollywood film Ragini MMS 2 in 2014 was passed by CBFC and SBFC but was banned by PBFC.

Bollywood’s Dilwale leading the advance bookings

Popularity of Indian Bollwyood’s films in Pakistan is beyond any comparison especially when it is full of star cast. Regardless of the political situation with neighboring India, Indian Bollywood films always perform well in Pakistan.

On Friday, 18th December 2015 two star cast Bollywood films are releasing Dilwale starring Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra.

As per press reports the advance booking of both the films is quite high especially Dilwale has a clear edge over Bajirao Mastani. Only in once city Karachi even before its release Dilwale has earned 20 lakh (200,000) rupees in advance bookings. Seeing this trend at few places the distributors of Dilwale have increased the ticket prices as well.

The star cast of Dilwale has also appeared in multiple morning shows on different Pakistani television channels to promote the film like on Hum Tv, Hum Sitaray and Dunya Tv.

From past three four years Bollywood films released in the month of December earn huge revenues on Pakistani box office. In 2013 December, Bollywood’s Dhoom 3 earend around 25 crore and became the highest earning film ever on Pakistani box office (The record is later broken by Fast and Furious 7 and Jawani Phir Nahin Aani in 2015). In December 2014, another Bollywood film Piku also earned 23 crore in Pakistan. Seeing past trend these two films are also expected to perform well especially Dilwale.

Mana Ka Gharana – Episode 02!

Ohkay so, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode of Mana Ka Gharana as well. Even though they are taking things forward slowly, I somehow like the pace for now because they aren’t giving everything away just yet & it is building the curiosity in me to find out more about all these characters.

I really like the relation both Mana & Khizer share. They are so candid & comfortable with each other & they somehow depict how best friends are & how best friends should be. I really like how at such young age they both are so mature & are always concerned about the well-being of their family. I loved the way Khizer persuaded Maalik to come back. Considering how rigid Maalik is, it was interesting to see him getting convinced by a guy half his age because he actually made sense. During their one on one conversation we also got to know that Khizer’s parents died when he was only 11 & that is why he is more responsible & even more mature than guys at his age are as he understands that he has to reciprocate the consideration his uncles showed towards him when he was a child & was facing such a tragedy in his life.

Even though this aspect got covered by the end of the episode but throughout the entire episode, I actually felt that Zarri was a bit too interested in Maalik & his personal life. Yes, some curiosity is good but the way she has started interfering in his life doesn’t seem appropriate. She is quite opinionated & doesn’t hold back in making it all about herself. Even though she did sound reasonable at times, but I don’t think I like her character for now. Yes, I did feel bad for her when Maalik told her off & gave her a reality check but I guess when she knows that Maalik doesn’t like to have a candid conversation with her, then she shouldn’t push the wrong buttons. She initiated an argument & he responded back. I felt bad for her when she cried over what Maalik said because I feel she has been through a lot in her life & she doesn’t want people to step a foot on her Achilles heel that is why she keeps on blabbering things about others to keep them engaged in explaining themselves because that way no one even thinks about asking her what she is going through or what forced her to come to this point in her life where she is finding a shelter in other people’s home.

I really like the concern each & every family member shows towards Maalik. It’s like they have this undeniable understanding about his nature & character that they like to keep things his way in order to make him feel better & comfortable. The sympathy Saleha has for Maalik is quite sweet actually. She takes care of him like an elder sister because I feel she not only knows what Maalik has been through but she also knows how hard things have been on him. The thing that surfaced about Maalik was his insecurity & the complexes he might have because just when he heard Zarri talking about all that, he went into a deep thought & indirectly ended up asking Khizer if he felt that way about Maalik as well, which showed that Maalik himself might be a bit aware of his shortcomings but doesn’t have the strength to deal with it.

The new character that got introduced today was of Gul Bahar (Ayesha Toor) who happens to be Maalik’s wife. They didn’t give away much details like whether they have been officially divorced or they are just separated but at least for now we know that the reason why Maalik as gone into this shell is none other than Gul Bahar. I thought it was totally inappropriate that Zarri not only went into his room but also searched through his stuff & ended up breaking Gul Bahar’s photo frame. It was obvious that Maalik would be ticked off but her reaction to it was quite odd. I think Zarri is someone who only believes in doing what she feels & has a huge ego problem where she fails to admit that she has committed a mistake too. It is so obvious that Saleha is also feeling a little awkward with Zarri’s presence because she can see that Zarri is not only ticking Maalik off but is causing distress to him by meddling in his personal life. Even though, I could feel it but Maalik confirmed that Zarri was once interested in him & he actually chose Gul Bahar over Zarri, which I am sure is still something that Zarri hasn’t gotten over with considering the fact that she is still unmarried & is still quite curious about him.

Overall, it was a very interesting episode & I love the music they have used in the background, it is quite soothing & gives a very nice feel to the drama. I feel each & every actor is doing a commendable job. I love how they are revealing little details about all the characters slowly & steadily like this time around we got to know that Mana dreams big & she wants to settle in a big city because she is bored of living a simple life in a small town. I must say, they really have uplifted the level of the drama by choosing such a beautiful location & also, the way they have added some comic relief in every episode is commendable too. It shows the level of friendship & the wavelength both Mana & Khizer, being cousins share. I am looking forward to the next episode. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mana Ka Gharana & let me know how much did you enjoy watching it?

Fawad Khan Looks Great In His Latest Photo Shoot

0

Fawad Khan seems to be enjoying doing some small projects in Pakistan. He is not shooting for the films he has signed yet but we have recently seen him the Tapal commercial and now he is also seen endorsing the brand Republic. There are billboards everywhere in which we can see Fawad Khan because Pakistanis love him and anything that he promotes gets popular without any doubt. Fawad Khan has been busy in India but now that we are seeing him in advertisements and promoting brands hopefully we will see him on television too. Fawad Khan has always said that he is an introvert by nature so he avoids being seen in public and giving interviews as much as he can. He however had to overcome his introvert nature when he was busy promoting his film in India because you cannot refuse to promote a film you are playing a lead role in. Fawad Khan has signed four films in Pakistan. He will also be seen making a guest appearance in the film Ho Mann Jahan.

Here are some pictures from Fawad Khan’s latest photo shoot.

Beqasoor – Episode 6

The most important development in tonight’s episode was Hira finding out the truth about who Shehryar was. Sadaf’s insecurities got the best of her and she decided to go to Shehryar’s office to request him to leave Sehr. Sadaf’s helplessness has been portrayed brilliantly by Samina Peerzada but like I said before I hate to see this strong woman play such a weak role. The way Sadaf pleaded in front of Shehryar and the manner in which he told her off was very unpleasant. Shehryar has not changed at all in all these years. He is arrogant and is very sure that he is indestructible. He is incapable of loving anyone and is selfish to the core. The way he treated his daughter went to show how low he could stoop. While Shehryar is one of the worst villains we have seen on screen in recent times, I must say that Sajjid Hassan has done complete justice to his character. You can’t help but hate Shehryar and want to see him paying for every life he has ruined.

Sehr still thinks that she has the perfect life and her phupo is there to reinforce that thinking! She is completely unaware of what Shehryar is capable of doing if he no longer wants to be with her. Shehryar’s dialogues clearly show that he would not think twice before leaving Sehr too if that is what suits him best. This marriage is nothing more than a joke for him and Sehr for now is also really happy with the change in her lifestyle and all the things she has in her life.

Hira is supposed to be the good girl in the play who should technically speaking come across as someone very likeable but I must say that I am having a very difficult time liking her character mainly because it has no spark and also because of the way Saboor Ali has translated it on screen. Saboor Ali needs to be a little more subtle with her dialogue delivery and most importantly with her expressions.

bq

Waseem does not want anyone to stay in touch with Sehr but his sister is most certainly not complying. Although Javeria Abbasi’s role is typical and quite capable of being annoying, I have to admit that I am enjoying watching her play this character.

Overall, this episode of Beqasoor just like all the other ones was quite average. This drama is definitely based on the story of a bechari aurat but the bad guys keep your interest alive in the show. You do want Shehryar to pay for what he has done and you want to know how Sehr’s life with him will unfold. It is sad to see a woman who is so helpless and definitely not something you enjoy watching. Also, this drama relies heavily on showing Sadaf as the victim. The writer obviously wants people to feel for this woman and he wanted viewers to watch this drama for her. I absolutely love Samina Peerzada, she is a legend but I feel like she should be playing roles that are role models for young and old women and not characters which we see on screen all the time. Saboor Ali is the weakest link in this drama. Although her character is that of a strong girl but it does not inspire you in any way.

How many of you watched this latest episode of Beqasoor? Do share your thoughts about it.

Preet Na Kariyo Koi – Episode 07!

Oh wow!!! I must say I am totally impressed with the script that Amna Mufti has come up with. It has everything ranging from emotions to drama to romance & most importantly the element of curiosity that remains just when the episode ends. I must say the director Ehtashamuddin has done a commendable job in directing such a powerful story because it actually needed this sort of direction to bring every character & every situation to life. Even though things are so dramatic in Preet Na Kariyo Koi, they still seem very real & convincing. I must say, I am grateful to the entire team of Preet Na Kariyo Koi for bringing such a powerful drama up for us. :)

Ilyas finally let the cat out of the bag in front of Fiaz & told him all the tiny little details he gathered about Shams. Fiaz obviously didn’t react much as he knew that nothing could be done but the only thing that gave him a little hope was the possibility of Khula that was mentioned by Ilyas. Fiaz actually underestimated Goshi’s stubbornness as he really thought that his child was oblivious of all the lies that Shams fabricated but his grounds were shaken when Goshi herself shamelessly admitted that she was well aware of everything. It actually broke my heart to see Fiaz suffering so much at the hands of Goshi & I fail to give it to her this time saying she acted immaturely. Goshi was only being selfish for the sake of her own gain & that is why, she didn’t even think twice before uttering such harsh words to her father who loved her more than she could ever imagine. As much as I felt sorry for Fiaz, I did feel sorry for Goshi too because she had no idea what she was going to lose. Goshi didn’t have a mother & the only parent she had, who would pray for her & worry for her was being sacrificed just like that because Goshi thought she was in love & her love needed her utmost attention.

Collage 1

The moment Goshi stepped out of her father’s home, I knew things would never be right for her & she actually was taking steps towards a life that she has never imagined. I actually thought it was wise of Saima’s mother to send Goshi away because she had already sensed that Goshi hasn’t married the right man & his background was a bit shady. It usually happens that when mothers come across such friends of their daughters who are involved in questionable situations, they make sure to draw a distance because they want to protect their daughters. Obviously, Saima didn’t understand the gravity of the situation that is why she wanted to help Goshi but her mother just exactly knew what she & her daughter would get into if they would agree to help Goshi by mistake.

The last resort for Goshi was contacting Suleri Sahab & just like that, he made things right for her. Even though Goshi herself sussed that everything that Suleri was doing for her & Shams was only because he must be having an ulterior motive, she chose to ignore it because she didn’t bother seeing the bigger picture & got satisfied with her short-lived happiness. Actually, I thought that it was only Shams who was under Suleri’s control but the way Mushtaq & his wife reacted when Suleri showed up at their doorstep went to show that he has a control over each & every member of Shams’s family. I think Suleri already has started playing games with the newly weds because just when Goshi asked him about Shams, he blatantly lied & said he had no idea where he was, whereas it was Suleri himself who told Shams to vanish into thin air. I think Suleri is quite far-sighted & that is why he told Shams to leave Goshi behind so that when she comes to seek help from him, he can save the day & be a hero in front of her & also to extend a favor to her so that when the time’s right, he can ask for a favor in return as well.

Honestly, I never knew that Shams would turn out to be such a puppet. Just because Suleri ordered him to settle down with Goshi, he chose to do that without questioning any further & he completely ignored Zareena. Shams himself isn’t being honest with Goshi, he might on her face that he fell for her but in real, she is just a responsibility imposed on him by Suleri that he is taking care of. I actually felt bad for Zareena because she really is in a difficult situation & she has no one who’d look after her. I think Suleri himself doesn’t see any potential in her that is why he didn’t bother telling Shams to take care of her as well. Also, it was heart breaking to see that when Suleri showed up, Zareena’s own sister started telling her off that Shams never belonged to her & also how she shouldn’t have high hopes in his regard, it showed that by the end of the day, it’s Suleri who runs things in their house!

Collage 2

It was actually heart breaking to see such a beautiful character of Fiaz meeting an end so soon. He died in a miserable state because he was so heart broken & almost lost that drive to live because he was hurt by Goshi. It was like Fiaz didn’t want to live because he knew he won’t be able to see Goshi facing any hardships in her life. Even though both Shams & Goshi share a very strong chemistry & the both were happy with each other, the way Goshi reached to that point didn’t allow me to enjoy her happiness. She was just being selfish & never once thought about her family. Goshi actually started living in a fool’s paradise when she saw things went her way so smoothly & that is why she didn’t even consider Zareena’s position for once & threw her out. Goshi always belittled Ilyas just because in her opinion he was a shopkeeper but why does she always forget that her father was a shopkeeper too & he earned a living for her through such simple means too. For her Ilyas was unacceptable but why didn’t she ever think that her father was the same too. Honestly speaking, I am interested to see how her bubble of self-proclaimed happiness will burst & how she will face the realities because then only she will understand that Ilyas was way better than Shams. It is interesting that Mushtaq has waged a war against his brother & I am sure it won’t end soon or at a good note & for that, I am looking forward to the next episode so eagerly.

As the preview suggested, things are totally going to turn upside down for Goshi & this time around, I am sure Suleri won’t help her too, even though I feel bad for her but after what she did to her family & especially her father, I think it’s just a karma’s way of getting back at her & soon enough just like Ilyas said, she will regret every decision that she has made so far. I so want to see how long will she be able to hold onto the ‘love’ that she thinks she feels for Shams after her life will become hard on her. I must say, I am totally impressed with the direction & also the acting. I think both Ahsan Khan & Hira have been commendable so far & they both have done justice to the characters of Shams & Goshi. Hira is emerging as a very strong actor & I somehow love her screen-presence, with or without heavy makeup, she is looking quite beautiful throughout the drama. It is too bad that we won’t get to see Irfan Khoosat anymore in this drama but despite it being a short performance by him, it was power-packed & stirred emotions every single time. I loved seeing him in Preet Na Kariyo Koi & now when the head of the family is gone, I do wish we do get to see Ilyas’s family every now & then. I must say all the supporting actors are doing a commendable job too & they are equally contributing in making this drama a complete package because each & everyone has a strong & unique role to play which is a rarity. Also, I think Rehan Sheikh has fitted the role perfectly & he is making Suleri look more intriguing & powerful! Full marks to the writer, the director, the actors & the whole creative team behind Preet Na Kariyo Koi, it for sure is a phenomenal drama. :) Please share your thoughts about tonight’s episode. :)
