Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 23 Review – Brilliant!

Ohkay so, what a brilliant episode of Yakeen Ka Safar tonight. What I loved & enjoyed the most about this episode was how the emotions were portrayed, starting from emotions of a mother to emotions of a man who felt a bit jealous seeing the lady he likes, sharing a hearty laugh with a male colleague, like there were so many moments in this episode that were portrayed beautifully & made this entire episode a treat to watch. After a very long time I felt that the writer & the director had the grip on the story & most importantly the characters because now they were actually looking real & relate-able, it shows what emotions if portrayed rightly can do to the characters & impact the story!

Gaiti’s decision of joining the hospital came as a pleasant surprise to everyone because all those who love Gaiti always wanted her to move on & do something with her life. The entire credit definitely goes to Zubiya & it was good seeing Asfand’s mother acknowledging the fact that it was Zubiya who convinced Gaiti. I must say I loved the way Zubiya warmly welcomed Gaiti, their friendship is one of the best aspects of the story & that particular scene came as a reminder that Zubiya & Gaiti were true friends who emotionally supported each other & now one was empowering the other.

So, the moment Gaiti joined the hospital, we heard a conversation about Dr. Haroon & his future where he should get married again. I totally ship Gaiti & Haroon together because obviously they would make a great reel-life couple as well. So, finally Asfand’s liking for Zubiya went a notch higher, that is why his reaction after seeing Zubiya with Haroon along with the red flower evoked such a reaction from him. Even though Asfand tries to avoid Zubiya whenever he is around people but it was interesting to see how he casually shares a sentence or two when they are together in privacy. It was interesting to see that out of all the people, Dr. Shehroz could sense what Asfand was feeling & despite his harsh behavior towards Zubiya, he could still feel there was something going on especially from Asfand’s side. Dr. Shehroz’s smile said it all & it was beautiful.

Coming towards the best part of tonight’s episode, Asfand’s mother & her stance regarding Faryal’s arrival. Even before she had a heart-to-heart conversation with Asfand, I knew why she was reacting this way. It was quite obvious that Faryal’s mention reminded her of Daniyal, the son that she has lost & all the bitter memories of how his reputation was tarnished, how even his own relatives especially Faryal’s family believed that he was guilty of all the charges placed on him. Even though Usman tried to calm her down but like she said, being a mother of two sons who were hurt by Faryal & her family, it wasn’t easy for her to let go of the past. For the first time I loved how Usman with so much of surety shared his perspective about Asfand as if he really understood his son. All this while we saw that for Usman, Daniyal was everything & there was this distance between Usman & Asfand especially after Daniyal’s death, but for the first time I felt the void was filled & now Usman was just as proud of Asfand as he was proud of Daniyal. Usman’s claim that Asfand despite liking Zubiya will not easily accept it was spot on because this is exactly what Asfand was struggling with, he has started liking Zubiya but is finding it hard to come to terms with it & give it some meaning. Similarly, Usman’s claim that Asfand will welcome Faryal without any hesitation was spot on too but this time around, his wife also had a point as she knew that Asfand has gotten used to keeping his emotions bottled up, that is why she was feeling more distressed that Asfand won’t get a chance to share what he must be feeling upon hearing about Faryal. I absolutely loved the conversation that Asfand & his mother had, where she wanted him to give words to every single feeling that he had regarding Faryal but Asfand proved Usman right & let her know that he was unaffected. Obviously, it wasn’t completely true, Asfand is still hurt but yes, he has gracefully moved on & has learned a lot to now feel anything for her!

Faryal & her selfish reason! The way her eyes were stuck on Asfand when he showed up was enough to know that she came here with only one intention, which is to rekindle her relation with him because now she is divorced. It was interesting how in such a small scene they once again made it obvious that Faryal was only thinking about herself & no one else because she wanted Asfand to immediately know that she is a victim seeking for emotional support from him especially.

Now talking about all those beautiful scenes of Asfand & Zubiya, I loved how even Zubiya could feel some warmth in Asfand’s attitude despite all the scolding that he directs at her. Zubiya hardly reacts to Asfand’s harsh comments anymore because she knows he has his mood swings especially when it comes to work therefore she chooses to stay quiet but yes, when it comes to all the other things that he says, Zubiya does understand what he is trying to convey. Zubiya has also started reading between the lines like she does get affected when he ignores her & can also feel that he cares for her. Dr. Shehroz’s dialogue ‘handle it carefully’ said it all, he has understood that there’s a lot of liking from Asfand’s side for her & it was his subtle way of encouraging it, which I found quite sweet. Even after the shortest counselling session with Dr. Asfand, Zubiya thought about the ‘good memory’ that she shared with him but since her past has shaped her character & mindset in such a way, she fears slipping up once again & for the exact same reason, she immediately cleared her thoughts because she knows she has worked really really hard to garner all the respect that she gets, therefore she can not afford to do anything differently.

This episode was absolutely beautiful, I loved everyone’s input in this episode, be it Gaiti, Haroon, Dr. Shehroz or significant coverage that Usman & his wife got, everything was conveyed beautifully. One thing I noticed when Zubiya was introducing Gaiti to everyone was how she had this confidence in her body language now, it showed that she has become quite comfortable & feels empowered herself, like it was a very small scene but it showed that Zubiya is pretty settled in this phase of her life & she is having a great time. Sajal Ali’s acting was brilliant & I absolutely loved watching her. Ahad Raza Mir has made it obvious that he was a perfect choice for the character of Asfand Yar, he has absolutely nailed it, there are such intricate emotions that Asfand’s character experiences & to portray them flawlessly at that was not an easy feat & Ahad Raza Mir has achieved that, so big thumbs up! Also liking the coverage that all the supporting characters are getting, they are making this drama a wholesome package which is great. Definitely looking forward to the next episode & I am really glad that the story has finally picked up & now we can see where it is headed. Please share your thoughts about this brilliant episode of Yakeen Ka Safar!

Alif Allah Aur Insaan Episode 22 – Disappointing!

Ohkay so, I never ever ever thought that Alif Allah Aur Insaan would come at such a stage where it would lose its charm. I can’t believe that a drama that was so engaging has now turned out to be a perfect case of stretching & dragging & the sad part is, the drama-makers have left no stone unturned in making it obvious that yes, they are dragging this drama to grab last bit of the rating they can while it lasts. I remember saying that praising Hum TV drama is like giving them a ticket to drag it & they proved me right once again, first Yeh Raha Dil & now Alif Allah Aur Insaan. It is actually quite unfortunate that such good dramas end up getting ruined because the producers chose not to end them at the right time. I always knew that the pace of the drama would slow down at some stage but I never expected that everything will go all over the place, clearly showing that things have been stretched way beyond!

I still find it odd that Shahzeb hasn’t recognized Basit because he clearly met him the day Nazneen went to see him & was also the in-charge of their engagement. I don’t really know what difference it would’ve made if they had changed the scenario & had shown that Shahzeb knew Basit was Nazneen’s servant’s son. Even though Nazneen’s reaction when she saw Basit was realistic but not sure why Basit seemed so shocked, as if he wasn’t expecting her to be around? Out of all the tracks, I still am interested to find out how this one is going to unfold as there’s still something left to be seen!

I really had a hard time watching Reena & Nawazish Ali’s scenes tonight because the chemistry between Ushna Shah & Farhan Ali Agha was cringe-worthy, like even when they were trying to show that Nawazish Ali was getting jealous of Hassan, I found it quite odd. Also, the acting of both Ushna & Farhan in their scenes together was so weak that I couldn’t believe I was watching the same Ushna Shah who blew us all away with her portrayal as both Rani & Reena in the initial stages of the drama. This entire track was again a filler & was used to stretch because I don’t see a reason why they couldn’t wrap it up in previous episodes? Reena ignored Nawazish & spent some time with Hassan, Nawazish became insecure & did what Reena wanted, which was a proposal for marriage. This is going to mark Reena’s downfall because she really isn’t getting the crux of the situation & she is unable to see that for Nawazish she is just a flavor of the month!

Now talking about the most unconvincing & unneeded track of the entire drama; the budding romance between Shaheer & Zimal, who both qualify as a perfect couple for any Punjabi Gandasa Movie as there’s nothing about them both or any other character in this track that speaks ‘art student’ to me. I know I am not looking for stereotypes but then I don’t think I am being picky in judging their appearance & overall personalities as when the drama began, we all saw how much attention was paid on every actor to give their respective characters the personality it required. If we recall every single character like Nazneen, Shahzeb, Basit, Rani, Nigar Begum, Shammo, Rani’s family members, each one of them had such perfect personalities that helped in portraying their characters to perfection, so when it comes to Shaheer, Arsalan, Zimal they are a complete misfit for these roles!

Talking about the proposal & Zimal’s reaction to it & later the tun tuni music which was used to suggest there was something magical going on between them, everything was awkward because all this while I kept on waiting to hear a single dialogue from Zimal where she would talk about being engaged but she didn’t? Seriously is she giving an edge to Shaheer & what for? Also, I am not really buying that Shaheer or any other friend doesn’t know about her engagement because when you get engaged, your old school friends & new college friends are the first few people to know about it. There’s absolutely nothing about this track or its character or even actors that’s piquing my interest & I am not sure if it will change in the episodes to come either!

I must say this episode came as a huge disappointment because I for once didn’t feel I was watching Alif Allah Aur Insaan, a drama which I used to look forward to eagerly. They have actually dragged it & it is quite obvious because that’s when the drama loses its charm & the story loses its purpose. For the first time, I am unable to see the purpose of the story because now it seems all over the place & for the first time, the perspective of the writer is unclear. I must say, even though they have quite nicely portrayed that Reena could never become Nigar Begum, like no matter how hard she tried, she could never take her place, that being said, I must say for the first time I was quite disappointed in Ushna Shah’s portrayal as Reena Begum because her acting was not upto the mark. When it came to Sana Fakhar, she portrayed the character of a courtesan quite gracefully but Ushna Shah has failed to do that because her expressions were a bit too suggestive & she took it a bit too far. Also, I wish they had maintained that ethnic, traditional persona of Reena because now she looks unrealistically urbane & a bit too polished, considering she is someone who came from the slums & was unlettered.

At the moment, I think the only thing worth watching this drama for is Nazneen, Shahzeb & Basit’s track because apart from that, even Reena’s track has lost its charm as it is quite predictable what is going to happen to her & then there’s Zimal Shaheer track which is so boring that it makes me yawn. Also, I am not sure who thought introducing Arsalan’s character & giving him a nerd look would be a good idea, not to forget his killer jokes. Arsalan reminds me of those back-benchers who are completely isolated from the cool groups of the class & they try really hard using their weird sense of humor to get some attention & when they don’t they end up laughing at their own jokes to feel validated about their existence, in short, I roll my eyes & raise my eyebrows every-time Arsalan is on screen because he fails to make me laugh. Also, I think Hum TV has hired the actor playing the role of Hassan to drag the dramas, ironically he was playing the role of Hassan in Yeh Raha Dil & ended up dragging that drama & similarly in Alif Allah Aur Insaan, once again he was seen as Hassan & acted out a few filler scenes!?! Talk about monotony! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan.

Mujhe Jeenay Du Episode 2 Review – Bitter Realities

These two episodes of Mujhe Jeenay Du made it quite clear that the makers of the drama want to focus on the issues they want to highlight and they are going to do so without adding any “commercial” elements in the drama. I am impressed by the writer’s focused approach; every single scene in this episode contributed something tangible to the story without beating around the bush. The director has also kept the scenes short, to the point and realistic.

The relationship between the characters became clearer in this episode and the characters were introduced impressively in these two episodes. So far, the different personality traits of the characters, their underlying motives, their thought processes and most importantly their relationship with each other have been laid down perfectly. This episode was upsetting because it showed how normal it was for Saira’s father to propose something so horrendous. It is however good to see that not everyone thinks that getting Saira married to Naseeb is a good idea. There are a lot of people including Naseeb who think it is not the right thing to do. Unlike Baaghi, Mujhe Jeenay Du has at least one man who (at least for now) does not see women as commodities. Naseeb’s love for Bushra and his reaction when Saira’s father suggested that he should get married to Saira showed that he was not like all the other men in his family. He will however ultimately succumb to the pressure.

Mujhe Jeenay Du Episode 2 Review - Bitter Realities

Shaheena decided to go back to her husband with the good news that she was carrying his son. Mehreen Raheal’s performance is beyond impressive, it is good to see her doing something entirely different from what she has done so far and excelling in it. I am certain a lot of hard work went into translating Shaheena’s character on screen in such a realistic manner. Goher Rasheed has also portrayed his character brilliantly but there were times when his clean shaven look proved to be a distraction because it didn’t go well with Naseeb’s state of mind. Salman Shahid, Ali Tahir, Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, Nadia Jamil, the actress playing Saira’s bhabhi and the child star playing Saira herself have also given impressive performances. The person responsible for casting all these actors for their respective roles deserves tons of appreciation for casting some of these actors in the kind of roles they haven’t played before. I absolutely love the way each one of these actors fit so perfectly in their respective roles and the way the story flows smoothly right from the start till the end.

Saira’s state of mind was shown beautifully in this episode. I felt for her every step of the way. The only thing she was worried about was that she would have to leave her house when she got married. The viewers are being introduced to Bushra’s character now through flashback scenes which I think is a brilliant idea of keeping her in the picture.

Mujhe Jeenay Du manages to transport you to a world which is very different from the one we live in but the sad reality that these people do not live very far from us in reality also hits home. The locations are perfect for the situations that are being shown and the director has paid attention to every tiny detail. These two episodes couldn’t have been better. Also, it is good to see some new talented actors in this drama. The actress playing the role of Bushra is beautiful and acts really well and the child stars in the play are also giving superb performances. Nowadays, when most drama makers are bent on playing it safe, it is good to see dramas like Mujhe Jeenay Du which serve a bigger purpose.

The preview of the next episode showed that Yasmin will do whatever she can in order to make sure that Saira does not get married to Naseeb. I am looking forward to watching how this development is used to educate the masses.

How many of you watched this second episode of Mujhe Jeenay Du? Do share your thoughts about it.

Ghairat Episode 9 & 10 Review – Overdose Of Tragedies

These latest episodes of Ghairat were somewhat slow-paced and slightly dragged as well. The fact that they are showing two episodes of this drama in a go definitely helps especially if you are watching the drama online. Few of the scenes in these episodes were repetitive and the fact that Saba’s mother did not make an appearance while her sister was dying made this entire development difficult to relate to. While it is easy to understand why she has given up completely, it is really difficult to understand why she would not even go to see if her sister is okay since she was living in the same house. Being a coward is one thing but being heartless is another! What does this woman have to lose now? One of her daughters was brutally killed and the other one is no longer around so what is she scared of now? Saba’s mother’s character was being shown realistically so far but this episode took her helplessness a little too far. For the first time I felt like the makers of the drama relied way too much on accidents, deaths, tears and helplessness of women.

There was a lot of focus on Saba and Saman in tonight’s episode. Saman’s brother Kashif fell for Saba instantly and her mother was not too happy about keeping Saba at her home until she saw her praying. The way Kashif’s character was introduced made it look like he wasn’t a very nice person, at least that is the impression I got from that scene. Usman and Adnan’s ruthlessness was once again translated on screen convincingly. The flashback scenes however and the suspense after Zohaib’s accident could have been chopped down. Just like every other episode of Ghairat, this one too covered Saba’s fears realistically. You can’t help but feel for her; she has a family but absolutely no one to turn to. Her mother’s dialogues in the previous few episodes suggested that she might be able to help her in some way but she too has completely given up and is hoping for a miracle. The way the writer has shown that these women have absolutely no one to turn to is convincing but I felt like there was an overdose of tragedies in this episode. The accident scene was yet another scene which was dragged. There was no reason for showing the conversation between the two men while Zohaib was trying to get to Usman’s house, showing the accident alone would have been enough.

Ghairat Episode 9 & 10 Review - Overdose Of Tragedies

Iqra’s husband and his friend are also completely out of the picture for now although I was hoping that they would have a bigger role to play in the story. It looks like Saba and Kashif’s track will get serious in the upcoming episodes, I am not sure how I feel about that since I was expecting more from Ghairat than a love triangle in the middle of such a serious issue. Also, Saba and Zohaib looked good together and this was the first time that I saw Muneeb Butt playing the role of a likeable hero. It would have been good to see him helping Saba in some way and bringing Usman and Adnan to justice.

These two episodes were definitely not the best episodes of Ghairat, we have seen better in the past and I hope that the story does not go off-track from here on. How many of you watched these episodes? Do share your thoughts about it.

Riz Ahmed is a British Pakistani who has won an acting award at the Emmys, setting a precedent being the first man of Asian and proudly Pakistani descent to win this award.

The actor won for his portrayal of Nasir “Naz” Khan in The Night Of, a Pakistani/Iranian-American college student accused of murdering a young woman. The movie is about the dramatic effects of racism in criminal justice system, and Riz won the award of Outstanding Actor for this role.

In the acceptance speech, Riz spoke about racism, saying ;

“I want to say it is always strange reaping the rewards of a story based on real world suffering, but if this show has shown a light on some of the prejudice in our societies, xenophobia, some of the injustice in our justice system, then maybe that is something.” He also thanked South Asian Youth Action and The Innocence Project for helping him prepare.

The Most Annoying Host – Nida Yasir or Sanam Jung?

Morning shows in Pakistan have been at their boom for quite a while now and they are often under discussion for various reasons. With morning shows comes a greater responsibility because these shows are used to educate the audience that tune to them. As there’s a whole lot of audience that watch these morning shows either to get educated or to get entertained, it is equally important for the ‘morning show hosts’ to have the intelligence and sensibility to conduct these shows.

Most people tune into HUM TV and ARY Digital to watch dramas, these two channels therefore are the most frequently watched channels, which is why the morning shows which air on these channels, get the most of the viewership and for that reason, Nida Yasir and Sanam Jung are the two most-followed and most-watched morning show hosts at the moment. Sanam Jung and Nida Yasir both were actors before they turned into full time morning show hosts. therefore when they started hosting Morning Shows they already had a fan base.

Both Nida Yasir and Sanam Jung have proved their consistency and commitment as morning show hosts because they have been associated with their respective channels for years. However, since we have been watching them for such a long time, it does make one question whether they are suitable for this job or not? All around the world a host who comes up with new ideas is appreciated for their creativity and is considered a good host, in Pakistan however the criteria is somewhat different!  unfortunately, in Pakistan, the one who can talk non-stop for 2 hours every morning is deemed as a perfect candidate to be gracing the seat of a morning show host while completely ignoring the fact that the non-stop conversing prowess should be considered as just a part of the job and not the actual job because what comes out of the mind and mouths of these hosts is far more important as they are reaching out to the general public through their shows. Unfortunately, in Pakistan a certain criteria has been set for morning show hosts because all the shows provide similar sort of content and for that they need specific kind of women to host them as there’s zero margin for creativity and newness. All the morning show hosts are expected to promote a specific kind of content and the one who does that effortlessly maintains her seat for the longer period of time.

Since Nida Yasir and Sanam Jung have been discussed separately quite a few times on our website, this time around, we decided to compare both of them to see who is more annoying than the other because even though they both have different personalities, they both have a similar approach towards their shows, audience, guests and overall content that they promote through their morning shows.

Attitude With The Audience

There are so many instances where both Nida Yasir and Sanam Jung make you feel bad for the audience that enthusiastically show up on their shows. Those innocent ladies not only make their shows happening but the amount of effort they put in to appear on TV is seen through their dressing and overall get up but sadly, they are treated like doormats by both Nida Yasir and Sanam Jung. When it comes to Nida Yasir, God Forbid if she spots someone in the audience who is healthy or has a dusky complexion, she will make sure to convey it to them by openly body-shaming them. Even though Nida will later apologize but the instant reaction clearly shows her mental capability and caliber that she only judges people based on their appearances and nothing else. Nida thinks it is perfectly alright to comment on someone’s weight, height, facial features and complexion while completely ignoring the fact that she might be hurting people who come to see her with so much of respect in their hearts for her. Quite often, Nida would use her audience as a mannequin for her makeup artists and would even force people to come to the forefront whereas it would be clearly seen that those people are totally uncomfortable. In this regard, Sanam Jung is equally worse because she not only ignores her audience but snubs them trying to show that she has no time for them. For Sanam Jung, connecting with her audience means commenting on their jewelry, dresses or makeup while she totally misses the point that one doesn’t need these half-hearted compliments if they do not come from a place of respect or courtesy!

The Most Annoying Host - Nida Yasir or Sanam Jung?

Control Over Their Thoughts

Sanam Jung can be deemed better in this regard since she is so full of herself, no one else crosses her mind and she keeps on yapping about herself, her husband, her mother, her mother in law and her daughter. Since Sanam can’t think about anyone else but herself and her family, it does make it easier for her to screen her thoughts as most of the times she is not even paying attention to the one she is having a conversation with. When it comes to Nida Yasir, in this regard, she really has no filters and that is one of her worst traits. Yes, Nida Yasir always tries to cover up her blunders after she blurts them out which shows that she has a thing called conscience but that seems pointless as she always says the weirdest of things that are on her mind, be it related to someone’s beauty, complexion, weight or general life experiences. It is good to be honest but one should always know how to word their thoughts because there’s a fine line between being ill-mannered or being straight forward and Nida Yasir hands down falls in the former category!

Paying Attention To The Guests

A good host is one who lets his guests take the center stage but not every host follows that rule. It can be said that Nida Yasir is better, though the reason might be a bit quirky – since she really likes to probe into people’s lives and she loves asking personal questions, she makes sure that her guests feel heard and for that reason she gives them undivided attention, she lets them talk their secrets out since this is something even she herself takes pride in. Sanam Jung however is so engulfed in herself, her life, her family, her daughter that she barely pays attention to what her guests are saying. So many times she ends up asking them the same thing that they had just spoken about which shows that her attention span when it comes to her guests is quite low. Also, it has become so obvious now that Sanam Jung just looks for an opportunity to slip in her personal talks in between the sentences of her guests because she ‘assumes’ people will be thrilled to know the story of how she wakes her husband Qasssaaaam at night for phone charging cable since the power supply is on his side of the bed. Yeah, she said it and yeah, you read it right! Sometimes Sanam Jung asks a question and even answers it herself! There are also times when you actually feel that the producer has to remind Sanam Jung to stop talking about herself and let her guests answer the questions!

The Most Annoying Host - Nida Yasir or Sanam Jung?

Level of Self-Obsession

Sanam Jung beats Nida Yasir in this category by a huge margin because Nida Yasir might speak about herself, she still is not as self-obsessed to an extent of being narcissist as Sanam Jung is. Nida Yasir does share a thing or two about herself and her life but she does that most of the time to make fun of herself, which shows that to some extent, she is pretty down to earth and finds it perfectly alright to share her imperfections whereas Sanam Jung thinks she is perfect and no one comes close to her in that level of perfection. The way Sanam Jung speaks so highly of herself, her husband and her daughter goes to show that she lives in a bubble filled with arrogance and pride which makes her believe that everyone else is a nobody and she is everything, which is another reason why she can’t stop talking about herself!

Posture and Body Language

A host’s posture and body language also contributes a great deal to the overall viewing experience. Sanam Jung is most often seen in formal attire in her shows and has to carry a more made-up and glamorous look which she isn’t always comfortable in. It is quite obvious that Sanam Jung is more of a jeans t-shirt or kurta tights kind of a girl who finds it really difficult to carry duppatta around. She is constantly struggling with her duppatta and even her posture. She also makes it apparent that these few hours when she has to sport a look which makes her really uncomfortable are not a walk in the park. Her discomfort is not only annoying but also distracting because that is the last thing which a viewer should be noticing while watching a show. Nida Yasir on the other hand is more comfortable on her show and most often isn’t self-conscious even though there have been multiple times when her stylists didn’t style her perfectly.

The Most Annoying Host - Nida Yasir or Sanam Jung?

The Way The Show Is Conducted

Conducting a live show demands a great deal of confidence and it also requires the ability to multitask since the show hosts are not only dealing with the guests and the audience but at the same time they have to keep the viewers engaged too. Apart from this, they are constantly being directed by the director which can be distracting. Another challenge in Pakistani morning shows is that most often there are more than enough guests on the set therefore making sure that things do not turn chaotic is also a major task which the host needs to accomplish in order to make the show more coordinated. While both these hosts have tons of confidence, overall, Nida Yasir manages to juggle all these things better than Sanam Jung. One reason for this also is that she does not let her guests completely take over even if her guests are very talkative and confident individuals. Nida’s show is usually as crowded as Sanam’s show but the big difference is that she handles the crowd better than Sanam. Sanam on the other hand is always fighting for time because she talks just as much as her guests and the required time is never enough. Also, very often she fails to give the same amount of attention to all the guests which is why some of the guests might not get to share their views on her show even if a particular guest is an expert who was invited for a specific reason. Having said that, Nida Yasir’s research about the topics and guests is just as bad as that of Sanam Jung, which is why very often she ends up asking questions which can very easily be termed as just plain foolish! Both the hosts clearly do not invest time in finding out more about their guests so that they can delve deeper into the details but end up spending a great deal of time asking basic questions.

Honestly speaking, there was a time when Sanam Jung wasn’t half as annoying as Nida Yasir but after years of “hard work” she can now be crowned as the most annoying host. We also feel that the people behind Jago Pakistan Jago also have a big role to play in turning her into an annoying auntie instead of a creative, fun, intelligent woman who could most certainly do better!!

We would love to hear from you guys, who do you think is the most annoying host? Your votes and comments will be considered as the final verdict ;)

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Finale Review- Rocking Performances

0

The only bad thing about the finale was that the winners were leaked before the episode aired along with the surprise performances. Ayesha Omer had a co- host today. It was Vasay Chaudhary and the man always hit the best masala. Ali Azmat was the celebrity judge or we can say celebrity guest since the judges had nothing to do on finale. He opened the show with his performance of Pataal Sey. He showed why he still is the rockstar. This was the best celebrity guest performance uptill now along with that of Asrar’s.

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Finale Review- Rocking Performances

The judges put the stage on fire and each performance had its own charm. Shahi Hassan performed Na Mumkin and made every one nostalgic. The sound of the song alone was enough to tell people why Vital Signs is the best band Pakistan had and made every one remember Junaid Jamshed. He also provided opportunity to Roots drummer to perform with him which was a very good acknowledgement. Meesha performed Speaker Phaar which though had the perfect rock element, didn’t touch my heart since the other judges were superiorly good. Finale had Aaroh who were the winners of first season and they performed Na Kaho and also remembered Haider. Josh performed Haseena Baliye and they came on the show because it has promoted the bands and they wanted to stand with the concept. For Atif, he knows how to mesmerize the audience and did it again, always the best. The biggest reunion of the finale was EP performing together with Xulfi by their side. It would have been so exciting if the news had not been already leaked of their reunion. They performed Hamesha and the way they rocked it is simply WOW! Ahmed Ali Butt was more of a rockstar than Fawad and the music was AWESOME! Loved the way they rocked the stage.

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Finale Review- Rocking Performances

Finally coming to the finalists both Kashmir and Badnaam performed for the last time on BOB. Badnaam sung Dekh Khudaya while Kashmir did Parwana Hun and both the performances were very good. Kashmir finally won the finale and got 50 lac rupees along with a contract for an album as well as lifetime music royalties. Badnaam on the other hand got 25 lac rupees. Best thing was also giving a huge prize to the runner ups since they have come a long way too. All and all a very exciting episode and deserving winners!

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 11 – Interesting Developments

The treatment given to this amazing script by the director Shahid Shafat has made this drama one-of-a-kind. It isn’t very often that we get to see dramas on our channels which are shot and written in such a unique manner. TDKKH has an artistic feel to it; it is slow-paced yet appealing. Watching this drama is like reading a novel, the slow pace of the drama and the manner in which it has been directed allows you to savor all the wonderful moments. I can’t praise Shahid Shafat enough for doing complete justice to the script because had he not done so it could have been a complete disaster! Mansha Pasha and Sami Khan stole the show yet again! Dariya and Faris are two beautifully etched-out characters which you can easily fall in love with really quickly. Their interactions are a treat to watch and are always the highlight of every single episode. Dariya and Faris have their own weaknesses which make their characters even more appealing and easy to connect to. Their honesty as well as their confusions add more layers to their characters.

Dariya’s character in particular is like a breath of fresh air. We are watching a female character like hers for the first time on screen. She is confident but she is not batameez – in our drama most often confident also means the girl goes around telling everyone off! She loves someone who has friend zoned her but she never once has been shown feeling sorry for herself. Also, she has made it clear multiple times that she will never beg Faris for his love. I absolutely loved the dialogue about internship, this is the kind of confidence which makes Dariya’s character one of the best female characters we have seen in Pakistani dramas. She is modern, confident, kind, loving, straightforward, practical, well-educated and extremely likeable. Siraj Uncle and Dariya’s scenes are always directed and acted out so well too. It is great watching Rehan Sheikh excelling in another wonderful role.

Maya finally decided to call her mother and apparently the divorce is not final yet so she still has the option of going back to Faris. Although Faris said that he hated Maya now but that just sounded like something he did not really mean. Maya has been shown as an egoistic girl who would much rather break than bend therefore I am waiting to find out what her next move will be since she will probably not go back to Faris either unless he asks her to come back to him. Ayeza Khan in particular gave a brilliant performance tonight. Her expressions were beyond impressive in all the scenes.

Faris and Zoya’s relationship is equally interesting and also one which keeps you guessing. Is Maya the reason why they are so close to each other or is there some underlying attraction between these two? The way Zoya hung up when Faris told her how he carried her to the hospital suggested something like that and Faris also proposed to Zoya once. Even though he did so because at that time he was desperately trying to get a closure but the preview of the next episode also suggested that he will say something to that effect again to her.

Thankfully, Saif is not being given a lot of screen time lately! His track is more appealing if it does not get a lot of screen time otherwise Zahid Ahmed’s acting tends to disappoint. Overall, tonight’s episode was yet another brilliant episode of a drama which is proving to be unique and entertaining.

O Rangreza Episode 8 Review – Outstanding Performances!

Ohkay so, what a brilliant episode of O Rangreza. I love the way the story is moving forward & the pace is perfect at this stage too. As the story is progressing, we are getting to understand the writer’s perspective more & more, where through Sassi’s character, he is highlighting the double standards of men. It is praise-worthy that even after so many episodes, we get to know more about every single character every single time. What I also loved about this episode was how even in such serious circumstances, there was a touch of humor which made things quite lighthearted & easy to grasp.

So, just when things became a bit overwhelming for Khayyam, he decided to get Sassi married. When things were perfectly fine between him & Sassi, Khayyam was the one who dissed the idea of her marriage at such an early age because he didn’t see her as a burden but now when Sassi was giving him a hard time, he thought this was the only way to deal with Sassi rather it was the only way out of this situation. Now at this stage when Sassi needs his guidance the most, when she needs his attention & his love, Khayyam is turning a blind-eye. This decision of Khayyam showed how he is someone who loves to run away from his problems, like he doesn’t have enough spine to face the obstacles like a man. Once again, this entire scenario highlighted the fact that despite posing to be the man of the house, Khayyam was just a coward who was now trying to get rid of Sassi for his own convenience.

The entire rishta scene was quite interesting. No one thought that Sassi would do such a thing. Even though Khayyam had told his friend that Sassi was a bit unconventional & unpredictable, Sassi outdid her father because she did what he never had imagined. I love how Sassi plays with everyone’s mind, like where her family thought that she would create a havoc over the news of her sudden marriage, she remained calm & collected & in the end did something that shook them to no end. For the first time, Khayyam was blank, like he was helpless as well as clueless because he was finding it hard to deal with Sassi. Sassi has made it impossible for Khayyam to come to a conclusion as to how he should deal with her? Yes, being a father, Khayyam still has some soft corner for Sassi in his heart that is why he was worried but then what she has put him up with is also bothering Khayyam to no end!

I must say, Khayyam displayed a lot of selfishness when he once again approached Sonia Jahan. He knows that it is because of her & Sassi’s desire of being like her that has put him under such an awkward position in his life but still he chose to let her know that he wants her. Sonia Jahan was hurt at what she heard from Khayyam that is why she decided to close his chapter off her life because even she understood that it was perfectly alright for Khayyam to love her but it was strictly not ohkay for Sonia to influence Sassi. It’s like Khayyam wants the best of both, he wants the one he loves irrespective of what she does like he said, but on the other hand, he forbids his daughter to idealize the one he loves because he would never condone that. Khayyam Sani is a typical man who thinks he is entitled to do whatever he wants because he is a man whereas when it comes to his daughter, he wants her to abide by the rules set by him & the society because that in any case hurts him & his pride. Khayyam knows that no one might question him for his choice of getting married to Sonia but the entire world would question him if Sassi would choose that path so once again, out of his own selfishness he disapproves of Sassi’s choices!

Oh well, I think it is safe to say that I am tired of Mumtaz, like when I saw her crying buckets, I felt nothing for her. I loved Kareeman Bua in this episode, it was like she gave words to the viewers’ feelings when she said ‘shadi har maslay ka hal nahi hota’. Khayyam & even Mumtaz were trying to find a convenient way out of this situation by marrying Sassi off but good that Sassi took a stand for herself, in an outrageous way but she did because she has the right to. So yes, back to Mumtaz, yes, I am done feeling sorry for her because her submissiveness is the reason behind her sufferings. Yes, I get it, she has given up, she has accepted failure as her fate but the least she can do is stop following Khayyam’s lead blindly. Yes, she has no control over Khayyam or even Sassi but she can draw a line because that’s something that is totally under her control but she chooses not to & that makes my sympathy go out of the window for her! Mumtaz herself brought Sonia back in Khayyam’s life because she already assumed that she couldn’t do anything for both Khayyam & Sassi!?!

I loved the scenes between Sassi & Qasim. Qasim actually thought that he will get a clear cut answer from a girl like Sassi who is completely twisted (in a good way). Qasim thought since Sassi is over Khayyam & she doesn’t idealize him, now he stands a chance but Sassi has someone else in her mind. I am not sure if she is going to go after Wajih Kamal because she would want to hurt Sonia Jahan or she genuinely likes him. Sassi is someone who is going to make the weirdest of choices because she doesn’t want to fall under the bracket of ‘normal’, she doesn’t want to settle for ‘normal’ ever & she has made that quiet clear!

Overall, this episode was brilliant. Even though Sajal Ali has proved her mettle as an actress but by playing Sassi’s character, she is showcasing what she had in her because this is the type of performance that we never got to see before from her & it is mind-blowing. Noman Ejaz is doing a wonderful job as a helpless father & so is Irsa Ghazal, though I may not be a fan of her character but yes, that doesn’t take away the fact that she has performed convincingly too. Qasim as meesni bili is flawless as well, I love the titles Sassi gives to him & the way he accepts everything is also amusing. Yes, Kareeman Bua was right, Qasim is another Mammo & she could see him being walked over exactly like her. I so wish the scholarship & his time away from this setting brings a change in Qasim’s personality, I really am looking forward to it. The way they have made this drama a visual treat with all those vibrant colors & aesthetically appeasing backdrops is phenomenal, it goes to show the amount of effort that has gone in this project & it shines through. Please share your thoughts about this episode of O Rangreza.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Coke Studio Season 10 Episode 6 Review-Wrong Pairing Of Artists!

0

Episode 6 of Coke Studio Season 10 featured Jabar Abbas, Umain Jaswal, Ali Zafar, Natasha Khan, Aima Baig, Humera Arshad, Rachel Viccaji, Momina Mustehsan and Ireteassh. Lets get to each song one by one.

Dam Mast Qalandar:

The episode opened with a tribute to legendary Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The singers were Jabar Abbas and Umair Jaswal. Music is directed by Shuja Haider. A very good attempt indeed. Jabar did total justice to the rendition and background vocals by the qawwal party made it even more great for ears. Umair Jaswal was however not needed in this at all. Jabar Abbas should have done this as a solo artist since Umair was just dancing alongside him and did nothing to make the song look good. It was Jabar’s performance and a good one from Coke Studio.

Yo Soch:

It was a bilingual song sung by Ali Zafar and Natasha Khan. Music is directed by Strings. The combination of Jazz and Pushto is a total win win for me. I loved Natasha’s vocals and the range of her voice is calming as well as mesmerizing. Ali did an okay job too but it would have sounded nicer if Ali Sethi has sung it alongside Natasha. Coke Studio is also doing an Ali Zafar overdose and getting him for every second song is not a good step when there are many other artists whom you can approach.

Kaatay Na Katay:

The artists are Humera Arshad, Rachel Viccaji and Aima Baig. Music is directed by Ali Hamza. Humera Arshad is the star of the song hands down. Rachel also gave a refreshing feel to the song but Aima’s voice was not matching with the other two artists. She sounded very shrill and maybe leaving her out of this performance would have made it flawless. As for Humera I would simply say that why these artists are left out and the not so polished ones are given chances again and again. She has shown excellent talent and made Kaatay Na Katay a must for playlists.

Ghoom Taana:

Music director is Salman Ahmed and the artists are Momina Mustehsan and Irteaash. An under average performance. The only good thing were Salman Ahmed’s guitar parts. Even Irteaash’s performance was not good and they sounded more like background singers. The music composition had the Junoon touch to it and to be honest the song sounded like a music performance with singers filling up the background though it should have been the other way around. A bad one!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 24 Review – Loved It!

I am so glad that I didn’t give up on this play because tonight’s episode and the previous few episodes of MTSNH have kept me glued to my television screen. The story has taken a really interesting turn, with this episode the viewers were once again taken back to the present scene from where the drama started. These scenes reminded me of my first impression of this drama and I must say that with its the highs and lows, overall this has been a very interesting journey. Few weeks back if someone had told me that this drama was going to be one of those dramas I will be looking forward to most eagerly, I wouldn’t have believed them but here I am thinking how will I wait another week to find out what happened to Gulrez and when will Waqar finally mention what was written in the diary.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 24 Review - Loved It!

After watching tonight’s episode, I am pretty sure that the viewers will get to see every little detail because right now every reaction and all the minor details count a lot. For example in tonight’s episode when Gulrez read the letter, the contents of the letter and his reaction was covered perfectly. Later on, the scene in which Maheen read the letter was also directed well. Waqar’s reaction was also shown convincingly. Also, right now the screenplay is such that it stirs the viewer’s curiosity. Right till the end I was waiting to find out what happened to Gulrez and that is the main reason why I am more curious than ever to find out if he is alive or not and if he died then what happened to him. I am also wondering what happened to that diary and where is Jia right now. What role she played after Waqar left? Lots of questions!

Tonight’s episode was the beginning of that part of the story which all the viewers had been waiting for and I must say that although it came late but it was completely worth the wait! It also came at a time when even those of the viewers (like me) who were finding it hard to connect to some of the characters and situations are completely into all the tracks in the story. Everyone’s performance was right on point in this episode and even those scenes which were somewhat slow were truly impactful. Ayeza Khan looked absolutely gorgeous as a bride and the entire scenario couldn’t have been covered more perfectly.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 24 Review - Loved It!

One thing which made this episode a complete winner was the way everyone’s feelings were covered. The manner in which everyone went from being over the moon to down in the dumps made the entire situation even more relatable. This was the kind of episode which completely transports you to another world and you feel everything which the characters are going through. The change in Maheen and Waqar’s outlook in particular when the story was taken back to the present time was also more noticeable now than ever. Maheen looked like someone who had been through a lot and Waqar too had aged. So far, Waqar only wants to know what happened after he left because of the extreme reaction by Neelam in particular and everyone else in general but he has not yet revealed the reason why he left. Given this family’s history, the entire situation can take an about turn at any given moment therefore I am pretty sure that these last few episodes will keep the viewers at the edge of their seats!

This had to be one of my favorite episodes of MTSNH. It has some amazing dialogues to its credit and I love the way Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has penned this story down. This is yet another love story written by him which is anything but clichéd. How many of you watched this episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

“I am Blunt & Straight forward” – Aima Baig

0

Aima Baig is one of those very few singers who did not only grab everyone’s attention because of the quality of work they did but also someone who has given quite a few hit numbers in a short span of time. Not only this, she has also bagged awards at a very early stage in her career. Aima Baig’s solo songs like Befikriyan and Kalabaaz Dil were immensely popular.

While talking to MAG weekly Aima Baig shared her passion for music and singing,

“I have been singing since I was seven years old, I told my parents that I want to pursue this career but they were reluctant as nobody in my family is in this field. However, after much persuasion, they eventually agreed to it. This gave me the confidence to sing in college and university, where I would participate in similar co-curricular activities.”

"I am Blunt & Straight forward" - Aima Baig

Aima Baig looks up to Shiraz Uppal who has advised and helped her right from the beginning of her career. Talking about him, she said,

“I met Shiraz at his studio where he asked me to audition. Initially, I thought I was only supposed to give harmonies as a back-up singer, for there were other singers present to audition as well, but later found out that all the three songs in the movie are to be sung by me including solo tracks Befikriyan and Kalabaaz Dil, which I proudly call my songs all because of Shiraz’s belief in me.”

"I am Blunt & Straight forward" - Aima Baig

Aima Baig also said that she was expecting to get an award so early in her career but when she got the award the way she felt could not be described in words.

“I hadn’t prepared a speech and didn’t know what to say. Being nominated was more than enough for me. However, when I won it, I thanked God and wondered kuch tou acha kia hoga ya maa ki duayain kaam agayin. Then I thanked Shiraz for giving me a shot at playback singing.”

Aima Baig also shared,

“I am glad that I’m a singer and don’t have to pretend, because I’m not pretentious at all. I’m pretty straightforward and blunt. When I don’t like someone or something, I don’t act like I do.”

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 11 Review – Change of Scenario!

Ohkay so, with this episode of Yaar e Bewafa, the story took a completely different turn which was good & refreshing to see. Even though the episode was once again on the slower side but the progress in the story compensated a great deal for it. This drama might not give you a lot to talk about but the overall story & execution of the play is quite nice which makes it easier for the viewer to tune to it.

So, with Fizza out of the picture & the neighbor aunty finding it hard to take care of Humera, Zaid had to find someone who’d be able to do that. It was good that Zaid’s friend once again came up with the suitable idea that Zaid could hire someone to look after his mother. I liked how they showed that one thing lead to another because Zaid’s colleague heard about it & she immediately thought of Amna as shew knew that Amna was in dire need of a job that would pay her a decent amount to make the ends meet.

Amna obviously at first showed hesitation because she assumed that her husband wouldn’t allow her to do this job but upon her friend’s persistence, Amna decided to meet Zaid & his mother. Amna’s friend had a point that since Saleem didn’t want Amna to do a job at any such place that would have men around her, this one was the best opportunity that she was going to get. Zaid hired Amna without much hesitation because he knew that he couldn’t afford not to as he was already having a hard time managing his job & household chores on his own.

At first Humera gave Amna a hard time but Amna decided to open up a bit. I liked seeing their subtle bonding, especially over the mention of Amna’s son. I am sure it won’t be too long when Humera would want Amna to bring her son with her, since she already misses her grandson.

I must say I was riled at the way Saleem was treating Amna & how he was making it obvious to her that even if she is the one making money, he is still the head of the family & was still going to boss around her because he is the ‘husband’. It was absolutely heart-wrenching seeing Saleem not moving a muscle even after he knew that his son was hungry. It is ironic that at one hand Saleem expects Amna to do the heavy-lifting like any head of the family would, but on the other hand he reminds her every single time that she has no authority over anything, basically implying that she is a nobody!

Anyways, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was pretty good. Even though the scenarios are simple, the way the emotions have been portrayed is brilliant. Sara Khan looks absolutely beautiful even in zero makeup, amusing but true that it seems Imran Abbas did the makeup on Sara Khan’s behalf as well because in some of the scenes his eye-shadow to his lipstick to his foundation, everything was screaming its presence on his face but apart from that, his acting compensates a great deal for the wrong foundation shade that in some scenes made him look green! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Daldal Episode 5 Review – Realistic Portrayal!

Ohkay so, this episode of Daldal took the story forward & showed how someone’s dream can force them to turn a blind eye to the one they love. This drama for sure is a decent watch & even though it doesn’t have that charm to draw viewer’s attention immediately, what they are showing is a true depiction of a certain class of society that dreams of settling abroad with preconceived notions in mind that all their problems will vanish the moment they will step outside Pakistan.

So, Shuja threw Hira out of the house & thought this will teach her a lesson, even though it did but it was good to see Kamran standing up for Hira because he could see that Shuja was at fault here. Kamran tried to knock sense into Shuja that by doing this, he was compromising on his family’s dignity but since Shuja only has his mind set on one mission, he didn’t think things through & thought that his irrational decision would yield him the results he is keen on. Kamran did what he could but he also understood that at that moment it was better for Hira to go to her mother’s place. It is good to see that at least after Sadiq, there’s Kamran in the family who is not only rational & sane but mature enough to understand the intricacies of all the relationships. Another appreciable quality of Kamran is that he knows the difference between right & wrong, exactly like his father.

Hira obviously tried to convince her mother but Shaheen didn’t budge. Shaheen can not see her daughter suffering without her husband just the way she did but right now, Hira is unable to understand that. Even though Hira did tell Sakina that despite having everything she never saw her mother happy as she longed for her husband’s presence but when it came to her, Hira ended up expecting her mother to do what Shuja demanded. Right now, Hira’s top most priority is to save her marriage & she knows that this is the only option because Shuja already showed Hira what he is capable of. Just upon hearing Shaheen’s opinion, he threw Hira out of the house so Hira obviously is well aware of the extent he can go to!

Hira came back & tried to do everything to convince Shuja that she supports his decision & that she will do everything to make sure that he gets what he wants. Shuja really has scored a big win in the form of Hira because she is not only submissive but is madly in love with him. Shuja’s change of behavior after hearing what he wanted to from Hira was so ironic yet realistic. Another thing that I found was a depiction of reality was how Sakina kept on brain-feeding Shuja against Shaheen & Hira. People might find it odd that a sister was wishing ill for her sister but this is something that happens in real life too where aunts don’t let their sons have a peaceful marital life with their nieces & in Sakina’s case, since she is suffering from inferiority complex, she now feels empowered that she has her sister’s Achilles heel, her daughter in her possession, therefore she plans on using it to her benefit!

Saniya is also going through a tough time because she is not too happy about her father’s work ethics & also feels burdened when she sees her mother talking about some rich guy that she’d want Saniya to get married to. Saniya knows that her family will never approve of her & Kamran’s marriage but since Saniya is someone who knows how to take a stand for herself, it is a done deal that she will fight for her right & will end up convincing her parents.

Overall, this episode of Daldal was decent. I know the characters of Puphos are quite OTT but I somehow see them as a comic yet realistic portrayal of such relatives, therefore I enjoy their bits. Even though both of them are meddlesome & have a hard time minding their own business but this time around they stood up for Hira & at least conveyed the entire scenario to the right person; Sadiq, because he would make sure that Shuja never does what he did ever again. All the actors are doing a great job, however in this episode Muneeb Butt stood out the most. His acting was not only convincing but effortless as well especially in the scene where he had a spat with Shuja for Hira’s sake. Zahid Ahmed seems to be emoting a bit too much & even his dialogue delivery sounds fake as if he is chewing his words & having a hard time in saying what he wants to say. I hope in the episodes to come, Zahid Ahmed tones his acting down a bit. Armeena Rana Khan is convincing as Hira & I find her acting perfect too, there’s a very small margin for her to perform since the character of Hira is very subtle & shy but still Armeena has done a great job. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Daldal.

Waseem Badami And Sanam Baloch Remember Junaid Jamshed

Waseem Badami And Sanam Baloch Remember Junaid Jamshed

“There was not a single day of Hajj when I did not miss Jaunid bhai.”

Juanid Jamshed is never far from memories and conversations in Pakistan. He was an enigma in his own self and not easily forgotten by anyone who came across him.

In yesterday’s show, Sanam Baloch invited Waseem Badami and Dua Malik as they had been to Hajj this year and she wanted to talk about their experiences and feelings on return from the scared journey. At one point, Sanam asked Waseem Badami about Junaid Jamshed. That caused him to break down in tears and he told how there was never a single day during Hajj when he did not miss the man who was like an elder brother to him. He said he kept on wishing he had come last year with Junaid bhai himself or that he was still alive so they could have gone together.

He also told how he is reminded of Junaid Jamshed everytime he thinks of him by something or someone who is related to the late scholar. It is like a signal that he is still with him, in one way or the other.

Baaghi Episode 8 Review – Rushed Yet Entertaining

Baaghi’s story has finally taken off with Fauzia Batool starting the new journey of a life she dreamed of for a really long time and one she is so willing to live! The fact that she barely paused to think about what she had left behind went to show that Fauzia’s ambition came before everything else – she didn’t even let the thoughts of her child, who she clearly loved, derail her. This episode was executed well with the exception of the timeline which was yet again confusing and some details which were not covered. So far the impressive performances by all the actors involved have to be the best aspect of Baaghi. Just like every other episode of Baaghi Saba Qamar’s effortless portrayal of a girl who was doing everything she could to play the role she had “rehearsed for” and waited for, for years now, was faultless. The manner in which her etiquette changed the second she entered the office which she felt was going to be the place which will alter her life forever was the first scene which showed that she was more than ready to fit into this new environment. The coffee scene was amusing and what followed later on was entertaining but somewhat rushed as well.

This episode opened with Fauzia trying to convince Abid to let her go to the city to avail the modeling opportunity. She however wasn’t going to hear no for an answer. The way Fauzia continuously asked Abid for a divorce even before this showed that she wanted this relationship to end. The fact that this job offer came after Fauzia found out about Abid’s affair is also another reason why she does not feel the need to invest more time and energy into this marriage. While it is good to see a woman who knows that she deserves better and that she shouldn’t be forced to live with a husband who is abusive and is cheating on her, Fauzia is definitely not someone who thinks things through when it comes to pursuing her dream. The fact that she does not let anyone or anything stand in her way is her greatest strength and it is also her biggest weakness! Firstly, she blindly trusted Abid and took a stand to get married to him only because he promised that he will help her make her dreams come true. Then, she went ahead and trusted all these people in a completely new place solely because they are helping her start a career in showbiz. Fauzia has been shown as a strong headed girl with tons of confidence who is more naive than anything else.

Baaghi Episode 8 Review - Rushed Yet Entertaining

Overall, this episode of Baaghi was fast-paced and entertaining. There were however some developments which seemed rushed and some scenes could have been added to fill in a few gaps between the scenes which effected continuity. For example one minute Fauzia was standing in Abid’s house and crying and the other moment she was in the bus travelling to the city. Also, her reaction after her makeover should have been covered since this was a major change in her outlook and could be shown as the first time when she realized that she was nearer to her dreams today than she ever was. Also, why is Fauzia’s brother completely out of the picture?

Apart from Saba Qamar, Ali Kazmi and Saba Faisal have given outstanding performances throughout. Seemi Raheel and Irfan Khoosat are also Phenomenal actors who nail every role assigned to them. All these actors look and act the roles they are playing which makes their characters easy to connect to. The impressive performances have definitely elevated the level of this drama.

I am waiting to find out what Fauzia’s new “mentor” wants in return for all the favors he is doing for her since polishing and grooming a girl like Fauzia seems like more of an investment than anything else. Also, I hope that Fauzia’s journey is covered in more detail and not the way the few days (or perhaps one??) of her new life were covered in this episode.

Teri Raza Episode 11 Review – All Over The Place!

Ohkay so, with this episode of Teri Raza, the story made quite a lot of progress but I am not too convinced with how things rolled. I feel the characters have been written with such clumsiness that you just can not form a definite opinion about them. Apart from Imtiyaz, every other character behaves irrationally especially the main lead Suhana, which makes it impossible for you to like anything about her.

I must say Talat should pat herself on her back after what she has done. Rameez had Suhana out of his sight, out of his mind but just because Talat instigated the entire scenario, Suhana got the chance to tell him that he still means so much to her & after that Rameez was thinking about Suhana too. It is amusing that Talat keeps on saying that she feels tensed ever since Suhana has gotten married because according to her Suhana is doing everything to ruin her marriage but then I guess someone needs to give her a reality check that it is not Suhana but Talat herself who makes sure to do everything which will drift Suhana & Imtiyaz apart. This woman is a piece of work I swear & I just can not stand her as a motherly character because she is an insult to all the mothers out there!

Imtiyaz has done so much for Suhana & her consistency at finding faults in him or his gestures is praiseworthy. I found it amusing that Suhana started off by saying she wants to do a job & then told everyone that she wants to own a business. I was waiting for her to show up her forlorn face & felt relieved when she did because it wouldn’t be Suhana without her typical roni shakal. It is amusing that Suhana could use her husband’s money to finance her business but she didn’t appreciate his effort with which he made it possible for her to get the model to showcase her dress? Suhana is like that spoiled brat who wants everyone to do everything that she wants but for others she would never budge because hey, she’s spoiled & that’s all there’s to her personality!

Let’s talk about the most awkward scenario in the history of Pakistani dramas – yes, I am talking about Paa Mmtyaz’s BUDDAY scene. Seriously, after Suhana was done confessing her feelings to Rameez for like a millionth time, after eavesdropping like a typical aunty, she remembered she had a husband to attend to as well, therefore she arranged a birthday surprise for him to keep everything smooth & running in her life. I mean it is sickening but seeing Suhana taking care of both her marital life & then her long-died affair made me uncomfortable. This girl needs to learn about a thing called transperancy but oh well, like everyone said, she lives in her own bubble!

I know I am not a fan of Jeena’s character but she for once made sense & did the right thing by knocking some sense into Suhana as well. It is amusing that Suhana claimed Imtiyaz loves her therefore he would never cheat on her, while completely forgetting how she takes him for granted & how she is still cheating on him by having Rameez in her heart. Like Suhana grew uncomfortable the moment Jeena tried to tell her that Seema seems far too comfortable with Imtiyaz but she never for once thought about how she was treating her husband. Suhana is like that immature child who doesn’t know how to own her mistakes & she thinks everything is just perfect because she turns a blind eye to her wrongdoings!

I must say, Seema needs to find a hobby for herself because her availability for Imtiyaz even at the late hours is a joke. Seema seems far more concerned for Imtiyaz as if in stead of Suhana, she is married to Imtiyaz. Seema is another insane character in this insane lot because even she is still stuck on the fact that Suhana tried to get her & Imtiyaz hitched but now when it hasn’t happened, she still feels she has some kind of authority over Imtiyaz. The showdown between the two ladies over Imtiyaz was quite funny. I wonder why every-time Seema’s car breaks down or every-time she has an emergency, she chooses Imtiyaz to play the role of her chauffeur. Anyways, looks like both Imtiyaz & Suhana are expecting a child & Daadi is still going to survive to see her great grandchild’s Rukhsati too, since this is how her heart works!

I know Sanam Baloch gives her 100% to her characters & it is good to see her dedication but literally not keeping a track of sweaty upper-lip or sliva in her mouth is a bit too much. Talat’s character & Shaheen Khan’s acting, both are out of order. I found it amusing how Talat was trying to ignore what Seema was trying to say about Suhana & her weird approach towards her marriage, not that it is Seema’s business but still she had a point. I think in stead of blaming Suhana for her immaturity, Talat should blame herself for a faulty upbringing but I love how every single character in this drama doesn’t believe in owning their mistakes & that is the reason why Talat is so aloof to how she has raised a little monster called Suhana! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this all-over-the-place episode of Teri Raza & oh can I take a moment to talk about the precap of next episode? Suhana crying buckets over Jeena & Rameez’s engagement & trying to prove something by saying that Jeena didn’t care for Rameez as much as she did when he went missing, like seriously? A pregnant married woman crying over her ex-boyfriend’s engagement with her class-fellow is beyond ridiculous!
