Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 2 Review – Well-Executed

This episode belonged to Sami Khan all the way and also to Shahid Shafat, the director who has given this script the kind of treatment which highlights the beauty in the dialogues. Unlike the actors in Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei (MTSNH), all the actors in this drama so far are acting naturally instead of speaking like philosophers who are always thinking deep thoughts! Sami Khan’s dialogue delivery and body language was beyond impressive in tonight’s episode. I think Khalil-ur-Rehman’s dialogues should be delivered in a certain manner otherwise they lose their impact and can also sound like sermons! Also, the fact that the director has been kind enough to keep all these situations subtle, although they are far more complicated and serious than in MTSNH, definitely helps.

The pace of the drama is going to be slow, just like most of us anticipated but hopefully this time around the story, the direction and the performances are going to be way better. The divorce is not likely to take place anytime soon and after watching tonight’s episode, I really don’t mind waiting since I can’t help but feel for Faris’ character. Even after everything Maya did to him, he is still willing to forgive and forget given she apologizes or comes back to him. The previous episode did not really do justice to Faris’ state of mind but this one focused entirely on how he actually felt as opposed to pretending that he wasn’t the least bit effected by this whole situation. Faris wants a final goodbye if nothing else before he gives Maya a divorce. He wants to feel once more what it was like sharing his life with Maya. All the scenes which covered Faris’ state of mind were a treat to watch. I really like how the writer has shown that everyone else around Maya is deeply upset because of her decision while she is completely happy with it. Although Maya’s character isn’t likeable but I like the way Ayeza Khan translated it on screen in these two episodes. This time around I also felt like Maya was emotionally vulnerable when it came to Saif and not really clever. Zoya’s meeting with Faris was also very well directed and acted out which is why there were some parts of it which were touching although it had the potential of being over-dramatic. Khalil-ur-Rehman’s excessive use of pronouns also did not stick out like a sore thumb in this episode because of the way these dialogues were delivered.

This episode had plenty of meaningful and interesting conversations to its credit. Dania and Siraj Uncle’s conversation about Dania’s “role” once Faris gets divorced was one such conversation. Dania isn’t one of those desperate women who will wait for a man to get divorced so that she can get married to him. Her character has substance and Mansha Pasha has done complete justice to it till now. Although, Dania loves Faris but she has accepted the fact that they will never be anything more than good friends. Tipu seems to be interested in Zoya because he got jealous when she said that she was very close to Faris.

We still don’t know Faris’ background story and his relationship with Siraj Uncle but I really like the way this character has been portrayed by Sami Khan. Saif did not get a lot of screen time in this episode therefore his character too is still a mystery. The preview of the next episode was intriguing especially the new information about Saif. I have to say that I enjoyed watching this episode and am definitely looking forward to the next one. This episode also gave me Bunty I Love You vibes because of the dialogues and the variety in characters. The characters are complex yet intriguing.

I highly recommend this episode to all those people who like Khalil-ur-Rehman’s meaningful conversations and powerful dialogues.

How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

When question answer session started between audience and the twins a girl asked Minal when is she getting married. On this Minal answered being very certain. Watch video to know what she said:

Sanam Jung’s Rishta Story!

We all know the awkwardness of the rishta days. When girls come up with all those bazaar ke items and chai ke tray and their parents tell the possible groom’s family ke sabb issi ne banaya hai. So Sanam had to face a situation when Qassam’s family came to her house. What followed and how she handled it will be answered in the video below where Sanam is telling how she did the tray task infront of her in-laws:

Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Aly Praised By Indian Critics

Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Ali are two of three the main characters of Indian movie Mom which revolves around a step daughter and her mother who has accepted her as her own.

As the movie released a day ago, there were loads of Indian tabloids, bloggers and critics who have given their reviews and none of them fail to notice the performances by Sajal and Adnan, even though the praises come in very limited words;

The Times Of India says;

Sridevi demonstrates why she is the high-priestess of desi cinema. Supporting her ably is her onscreen husband Anand (Adnan), who plays the polished gent with flair. Dew fresh Sajal Ali, who seems to have grown up watching Kareena Kapoor films, seems like a clone of the senior actor. But this is not to take away from her otherwise adept performance.”

The Hindu publishes;

It’s the father-daughter duo of Anand Sabharwal and Arya (Pakistani actors Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Ali) that is more measured as compared to Sridevi, whose easy give and take with a child star, takes you back for a moment to Mr India.”

NDTV review takes a very positive approach and gives where credit is due;

Sajal Ali, in the role of the troubled daughter, matches the veteran (Sri Devi) of 300 films step for step. Adnan Siddiqui is unwaveringly solid as the doting father and ever-beholden husband who stand like a rock by the two women.”

The Hindustan Times praises Sajal Ali but conveniently omits her name, even though she was the reason behind all the investigation carried out in the movie;

“The supporting cast turns out to be a great asset for director Ravi Udyawar’s film, which brings out the mental trauma experienced by the rape victim just as much as it celebrates Sridevi’s valour.”

The Indian Express believes Adnan Siddiqui was not given enough space on the screen;

”Sajal Ali, who plays the young victim, is particularly effective. Adnan Siddiqui, as Sridevi’s husband, is very dishy, but suffers from the same problem the rest of the cast: not enough heft”.

Have You Seen Junaid Safdar?

There is a lot of heat among Pakistani politics these days but today we will show another kind of hottie from the family. Junaid Safdar is the 22 years old son of Captain Safdar and Maryam Nawaz. There have been his pics circulating recently and you can well see that the young lad gets an A+ plus for handsomeness and style.

According to his mother Maryam Nawaz, he has no interest in politics and would prefer going into the Army. With his looks and style, though, there is always a backup plan for this sher in the form of modelling, lest everything else fails. Here, take a look at his pictures;

A Humble Answer For Yasir Nawaz’s Letter!

As we all know Mehrunisa V Lub U released this Eid and the movie has been a hit as far as  numbers are concerned but on the other hand the movie straight up failed to impress many bloggers and audience too. Director of the movie Yasir Nawaz is not happy with the negative reviews Mehrunisa got and after not being able to contain his childish fit at trailer launch of Punjab Nahin Jaongi he posted this as an open letter to all the people who reviewed his movie.

A Humble Answer For Yasir Nawaz's Letter!

A Humble Answer For Yasir Nawaz's Letter!

First of all as you are calling the critics and bloggers teachers, the first lesson is you should never disrespect the teacher by calling them “Arrogant”. Secondly one should never be such an arrogant parent that whatever your children may do you will defend them just because they are your children as this will turn them into some intolerable creatures when they grow up (considering your film is still a child this advice will help you a lot in brought up). Thirdly we know that it takes effort to make a film specially in the circumstances our industry is facing right now. Don’t you think that is the reason we give coverage to your movies? Write about them even if we are not down right impressed by them? You are a producer you know publicity is publicity; doesn’t matter if it is good or bad and Mehrunisa has got it whatever you may say now. Fourth you agree the reviews do not affect the money a film makes then what the whole fuss is about? Yeah I know film is a child but in the real world it was a business project and because it is earning all should be hail and hearty. Fifth and the most important you cannot go on making excuses forever that the industry is new so come, watch and support whatever is being made because the same approach led to the devastating Gandasa Era our industry faced. Films from all over the world get criticised. If you do not watch news let me tell you on the same Eid Salman Khan’s Tubelight has been crushed because of low quality script and has got real bad reviews too. Mummy faced the same fate and it was a hollywood flick. Now the power; you also have got the power to influence the audience with the use of your camera and characters, you should also learn to use it in a constructive way. At last I would like to say that this time when the industry will move forward and InshaAllah reach new heights; all us critics and bloggers will be there to keep on eye on the quality so we do not fall back to same pit we are trying to rise from and yes criticism is constructive for those only who know how to handle it and take it in a positive way!

The Richest Poor Man Abdul Sattar Edhi ; yes the father of humanity he is! Edhi Sahab’s education was humanity, his religion was humanity and he served the humanity selflessly. One year is passed since he left this mortal world. But have we forgotten him? Can anyone forget him? No! Because Edhi is not a just a name, Edhi was not just a man; Edhi is an ideology.

Edhi Will Remain In Our Hearts!

Born in 1928 in Indian sub-continent a boy was taught by his mother to give half of what he has to the needy. He never wished anything for himself. He gave society more than was his due share. People called him names, tried to defame him and even called him kaafir. But as the truth is “Wa Tuizzu man tasha Wa tu zillu man tasha” , his honour and respect is of the level that whenever you will be wanting to donate to any charity the first name is always Edhi Foundation. From an elite official to a small child everyone knew that Edhi is genuine, that Edhi will always work for humanity and not for his personal causes. Today marks the death anniversary of the Father Of Humanity Abdul Sattar Edhi.

Edhi foundation is still working with the same zeal under Faisal Edhi today as it worked under Abdul Sattar Edhi Sahab. So stand with Edhi as nation as always stood before with him. Because millions living in Edhi homes, the needy women, the old parents who have no where to go and the children who only know Abdul Sattar and Bilqees as their parents need you.

We at reviewit remember the Father Of Humanity today and wish that all of you will remember him in your duas and will stand for what he stood because as he said: “No religion is higher than humanity.”

3 Dramas Faisal Believes he Didn’t Need to do

When someone enters the showbiz, they are grateful for any roles that are offered to them and easily accept it, regardless of the plot or character role. The goal of the initial, small roles is to showcase your talent on TV screens to attract the eye of a big producer to cast you in a reputable, (most preferably) lead role.

However, once you manage to create a name for yourself in the Entertainment Industry, you can spread all your wings in the open and take as much space as you require meaning you can live comfortably without having to worry about impressing producers for a job. At this stage you have proven yourself enough to have them come to you, not the other way round. This is the place where the veteran actor, Faisal Qureshi, stands today.

Despite all the fame and fortune, it is not advisable for an actor to disclose the roles he regrets doing, unless the role was not popular in public. But, in a recent interview, Faisal informed the 3 dramas he felt he didn’t need to do in his career. Watch the video to find out which dramas they are:

Vasay Chaudhry asks Ayesha Omar her Age on TV

What is the saying?

Never ask a man his salary and a woman her age. Vasay Chaudhry totally ignored this and straight up asked the beautiful Ayesha Omar her age!

Faisal Qureshi was also present when this happened and his reaction at the answer the actress gave was priceless. He definitely wasn’t expecting the host to ask the female artist this question, without any warning whatsoever.

Ayesha Omar is among those Pakistani actresses who have crossed their 30s’ and are still single. So do you think she answered the question? If yes, then was it an honest answer? Watch the video to find out:

Faisal Qureshi’s Celebrity Crushes!

Celebrities — sometimes they really are just like us! Sometimes they swoon over the same handsome/pretty celebrities that we swoon over. And sometimes, they publicly admit their crushes pretty much like we do to our friends and siblings! Those are the best times, of course!

Faisal Qureshi was recently asked about his celebrity crushes and the veteran actor didn’t hesitate in giving his answer. We quite agree with his answer as did the hosts of the interview and other guests. It is to be noted that Faisal is a happily married man, a great father and that all of this was just for fun, nothing serious.

But, we are sure you are curious about his answer! So watch the video below to find out what Faisal’s answer was:

Mikaal’s Reaction When Asked to do an Intimate Scene in India

In the past few years many of our actors and singers have crossed borders to India to showcase their talent in that country and create a fanbase of themselves in India too. Many have returned back to our homeland successful and many disgraced. Mikaal is also one of the many that went to India to act in a film. The cultures in both the countries differ on the basis of religion and hence, things that are acceptable to be shot in an Indian film aren’t in Pakistani.

In a recent interview, Mikaal Zulfiqar explains his reaction and thoughts in detail when he was asked to do an intimate scene with a girl. His story had both the hosts of the show and the guest hooked. Watch the video below to find out what all of this is really about:

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 14 Review – Finally A Good Episode!

I thought I would never say this but there were quite a few developments in this episode which were interesting as well as intriguing. After watching the same scenarios over and over again, it was definitely refreshing watching the story move forward like it should in every other episode (ideally speaking!). There were scenes which were needlessly stretched and the first 5 minutes or so of the drama covered the scenes which had already been shown in the previous episode so basically the episode that went on air live did not start from where it should have started from and I was wondering if they were showing the previous episode all over again! If this was supposed to be the precap then it was painfully long.

This episode however proved that if the story focused throughout on the main leads, their feelings and interactions with each other more than the side characters who are most often annoying then this drama could have been far more interesting. A simple love triangle with few complications here and there, some powerful dialogues, leading actors with good on screen chemistry and an unpredictable storyline is always better than a love triangle which is blown out of proportion for no reason when the leads hardly ever interact with one another! Maheen and Waqar’s feelings were much easier to relate to tonight. Gulrez’s character however does not have the same impact which it had in the first 2 episodes or so which is the main reason why Mehreen’s decision seems all wrong and I think that is the reason why Gulrez’s character is so unappealing. There is an undeniable chemistry between Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan which makes you root for them even when the story and direction is as weak as it is in this play.

The first scene of this episode (online version!!) translated those emotions which have been missing from the previous many episodes in an apt manner. Maheen’s attempts to prove herself, Gulrez’s lack of confidence, Waqar’s decision to lose the match to make Maheen happy and most importantly a more sensitive reaction from Ami begum at that time made this scene a winner. Later on too all those scenes in particular which covered Waqar and Maheen’s state of mind were right on point for a change although the background music at times was extremely inappropriate. Imran Abbas in particular acted brilliantly in this episode. I found myself wishing that the drama could go on like this for the next few weeks as well but then I was reminded of all the thappars and those reactions and situations in the past 8 weeks or so which made very little sense!

Jia’s track had a secret in store as well, although her father’s dialogues and the way they were delivered was not that impactful but it seems like Jia’s mother had an affair with Maheen’s deceased father. It remains to be seen how this recent revelation will effect the story. Maheen’s mother also mentioned her fate and remembered how things did not go as planned multiple times in tonight’s episode. Jia finally forgave her father and now that they will have a ‘normal’ relationship, I am wondering if he will accompany Jia to Maheen’s house at some point and figure out the connection between her and Aurangzeb.

The conversation between Fajr and Waqar after their team lost the match had to be the best conversation in this entire episode. The whole scenario now is quite interesting and there are no unnecessary complications but I doubt that the story will move forward with the same momentum given the history of this play!

How many of you watched this recent episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

First Song Of Rangreza is Out!

Rangreza is an upcoming movie starring Bilal Ashraf and Urwa Hocane in the lead. The movie will be a musical romance where Bilal will play the role of a singer. As it is a musical we surely have high hopes in the music department. So the first song is out and we are definitely impressed. The song is sung by legendary Abida Parveen and the very talented Asrar. The melody of the song will sooth your core surely. Listen and be floored!

Chein Aye Na Releases Its Music Album

Chein Aye Na’s trailer release last month was met with an uproar since it seemed quite cheap and lacking substance. In all fairness though, the movie might be met with a different response. We cannot be sure of anything before hand.

The audio album has also been released and while some songs are okay, some unimpressive, on the whole the album fails to make a mark.

There is a remix from Moammar Rana’s film Chooriyan, Karan Main Nazara, which has been revamped to make it more suitable for this era’s cinema goers.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has sung Hona Tha Pyar Hogya, and even though the lyrics are not awesome, Rahat Fateh Ali’s intonation does give this one an edge over others in the album.

The title track Chein Aye Na has been sung by  Ammar Baig and its lyrics and tone makes it one of the good ones in the album. It is a very romantic song.

Aisi Basi Dil Mai Tu by Waris Baig is nothing special at all. It sounds very much like his older songs, nothing new.

Nazr Se Nazr is a duet by Bina Khan and Waris Baig and does not do anything for the album, good or bad. It’s more like a filler song.

Meri Wafa Meray Waday is a remix of the old Barbra Sharif starrer, but the original version was far better than this new one.

Lahore nachda is a typical shadi dance number. It is not different but fits in nicely as an addition to the songs usually played on my Pakistani weddings.

Dulhan Chali is a rukhsati song by Bina Khan. It is one of the good ones and might become popular as a wedding song as well.

Na Jala is also sung by Bina Khan and the singer did not do great in this one. It is quite an unimpressive number.

Yalghaar – Film Review

The Pakistani cinema has recently revived itself from the ashes to compete with the Bollywood and Hollywood productions, and although it’s brilliant to see the appreciative initiative it has taken,and the definite underlying potential, I think it’ll be a while before we can reach those heights.

Does that put you in a pessimistic mood already? Well I’m here to assure you that the Mind Works Media Production, released on the 26th of June, written and directed by Hassan Rana, isn’t entirely a bad watch. But be sure not to compare it to the other abroad films at the cinema, or it’ll definitely make you gloom sorely about the money you spent. That being said, I can be brutally honest to say that at least I’ve done my part of sitting in the show-time of approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes to support the Pakistan cinematic industry.

First things first: let’s politely applaud Hasan Waqas Rana’s aim about creating awareness among the ordinary citizens of Pakistan about the horrors of war and its traumatic scars that wound the families whose sons, brothers or husbands are martyred while defending the borders and honor of the country. It is undoubtedly a difficult choice for both of them and something that we tend to forget amidst the chaotic routines of our own life. But I think, that with the hassle of trying to do three different parts at once (director, writer and actor), the man missed the finer points of production which I’m here to review, one by one.

Yalghaar - Film Review

The first 20 minutes of the movie start off by the execution of an operation, where Col Asad (Shaan Shahid) from Special Services Group of Pakistan army (SSG) is leading a rescue mission for Col. Jogezai (Ayub Khoso) who is in terrorist captivity. Asad and his team, which comprises of Capt. Bilal (Bilal Ashraf), Capt Umair (Umair Jaswal) and few other SSG specialists, drop over the enemy installment. It could have been highly constructive and exciting, except it never happens because as they enter the captivity zone and take down the enemies, the movie closes itself in a still-scene which ends quite abruptly and the next thing you know, you’re back at the headquarters.

This isn’t the only time when you’ll notice the awkward transition of scenes. The movie paces in time with action-romance-humor-repeat with little or no amalgamation of all four aspects at one point.

The film continues to introduce the malefactor, Tro Jan (Humayun Saeed) who is the militant leader of a convict group supposedly very evil, and merciless to his enemies. How do we know this? He’s the only good-looking Pakistani actor who has been purposefully made to look not-so-appealing by his long shabby mane of hair and weird outfits, the obvious act of terrorism by shooting anyone who comes within his sight and his malicious laugh after he’s done with them. His character could have been more in depth and yet there’s no obvious explanation of his history as a felon or whether he has any link to a religious/terrorist group but I guess it saved the director from being a victim to any outbursts and critiques from the distinctive communal groups of the country.

Yalghaar - Film Review

Tro Jan forces one of his (newbie?) followers Baran (Gohar Rasheed) to gatecrash an old friend’s wedding, killing everyone and kidnapping his wife Zarmina (Ayesha Omar) as spoils of a war. His only intention is to scare her enough into marrying him which again, doesn’t make much sense given his character but it works. The character of Zarmina came as a shock since the actress had absolutely no pivotal role in the entire movie, with a maximum of 5-6 dialogues, never-ending crying and the consistent repetition of ‘Tum insaan nahi darinda ho!’

Concocted in between the good and bad sides are the personal lives and love interest of the soldiers.  Cocky Bilal is secretly in love with the vivacious Jero (Armeena Khan) while his good-humored friend Capt. Asif (Ahmad Taha Ghani) wishes to seek the hand of the serious and studious military gynecologist Samia (Uzma Khan). Col. Imran (Adnan Siddique) is happily married to his beautiful wife Fareeha (Aleeze Nasser), who is expecting soon and finally the complicated lovers-to-friends-to-lovers relationship, shown in fragments of scenes between Col. Asad and journalist Sadia (Sana Bucha) is perhaps highlighted the most. As far as chemistry goes, I personally believed that that of Adnan and Aleeze seemed to appear much more natural and believable as compared to the rest. Samia looked much more attractive onscreen than her friend Armeena, whose acting hasn’t quite improved since the release of Janaan. Even Sana Bucha, who is apparently a celebrated hardcore journalist in the film, has no strong character and is more keen about Shan’s life and whereabouts, than doing her actual job.

This is serious mishap in the movie but one that wasn’t completely unexpected. With no reference to sexism, I do believe that the lack of any strong-willed woman characters, as well as their noted absence in any army positions (with the exception of Samia) should not be over-looked. It’s 2017 and about time that the women are represented as something other than the conceptual idea of a damsel-in-distress.

Yalghaar - Film Review

One thing’s for sure. Ahmad Taha Ghani, probably intended as sidekick, stole most of the show with his comical acting and nearly perfect deliverance of hilarious dialogues, making it your time’s worth. The small telepathic exchange of thoughts in Punjabi between Armeena and Bilal were funny too, but improperly set in.

Speaking of Punjabi, we wish that the screen-play had induced more of our national languages and less of English jargon and slangs which seemed quite out of place. After all, isn’t that is one of the objectives of resuscitating the country’s cinema?

So after flitting in and out between the scenes of the movie, which seems more and more as a flick visualizing the lavish and posh lifestyle of the army, the film finally brings us to its actual story in the last 30-45 minutes when a military operation conducted in the Piochar region of Swat district was carried out to terminate Humayun’s terrorist group once and for all. This, is where we can actually give some credit to Hassan Rana for his direction and writing for these last minutes are suspenseful as the enemy is attacked; and patriotic as soldiers are bombed or bullet-ed to the ground serving their country and sacrificing themselves for their fellow comrades-in-arms. It’s also where the entire emotion builds up and you can actually hear and see a few people in the audience, sniffing and shedding a few tears silently, especially when the song  Ae Watan Pyaray Watan resonates through the hall.

Yalghaar - Film Review

All in all, Yalghaar could (obviously) have been better in so many terms. The songs were good but played in and tuned out too early, probably because there wasn’t enough time. Most of the actors had no less than 2 or 3 lines and came on screen for not more than 20 seconds such as Umair Jaswal, Ali Rehman Khan, Ashir Azeem and Haris Bukhari, which makes us wonder why did they agree to take on such small roles anyway. My guess is that the director wanted as many good-looking and charming army civilians displayed, in spite of whatever role they had or whether or not they could even manage to pull it off. The characters didn’t have sagacity. The scenes had no coherence in between them. The closing credits rolled in with the pictures of APS victims and other victims of terrorism, played on the backdrop of an emotionally penned song composed by Xulfi, making you ponder over the number of ways this story could have laid itself out in so many possibilities so that its intended moral could have been impressed effectively from the very beginning.

Nevertheless, the sense of nationalism will generally appeal to you as will the film itself, if you are passionate about the army. But considering it as a sequel of Waar, it was consequently, rather disappointing.
