Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood on Wednesday briefed the media regrading updates on the closure of schools after an important meeting of education and health ministers at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). He said the educational institutions which were closed earlier due to high positivity rates, will remain shut till April 11.
Provincial governments and authorities in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan are empowered to take the final decision in this regard, keeping the latest situation in mind, he added. Famous Pakistani actress Naila Jaffery passed away today after fighting prolonged illness. She had been suffering from cancer. Despite her illness she was quite vocal about social issues and human rights. The actress was valiantly fighting cancer and also got treated for it. In last few days she again got sick and remained hospitalized.
The final rituals of the veteran actress will be performed at 9:00 Pm after Isha prayers. Naila Jaffery’s brother Atif Jaffery said that his sister’s funeral prayers will be offered later today in Defense Phase II and burial will be held at Army Cemetery on Kala Pul.
The actress suffered from Ovarian Cancer which was detected at third stage however she regained health and moved to Northern areas of Pakistan and lived there for about two to three years.
Naila Jaffery’s loss will be considered as huge one and her efforts and work will be remembered for life time. Fans are really sad on her demise.

Turkish dramas are seen all over the world. They have been able to make a global audience, all thanks to their strong scripts and high production values. There are many Turkish stars who are as famous in Pakistan as they are in Turkey. One such name is Burak Ozcivit who played the role of Usman Ghazi in Kurulus Usman, the sequel to Ertugrul Ghazi. Although Pakistani Drama industry is attracting viewers where they are finding these dramas interesting enough to follow, it has recently been noticed that foreign dramas are somehow trying to make their entry in the country. Just like ‘Maria-Mummy Papa ki Jaan’, Ishq-e-Mamnoon, a Turkish Serial was aired and ended up conquering high ratings. Where people are enjoying this change, it is turning out to be a real threat to the integrity and local industry of the nation.
For the readers who want to know more about the policy that is been used behind the idea, it is important to highlight the two modules that are followed worldwide. Countries that follow the first module allow the producers to have complete authority to air their dramas anywhere in the world, provided that the drama is first aired in the local country. “These dramas show a more liberal Muslim society which our viewers want to see and feel, but does that mean that these programmes should be allowed in Pakistan? Certainly not — until or unless a dubbed Pakistani drama is playing in Turkey,”

Few months ago a serial started on Urdu1.Every time, I came across Urdu1 that drama serial was repeating like for 4-5 times a day..And then came a day when while sitting in my room,I heard some really weird voices.The voices were pretty unpredictable for me to guess.And I kept on asking myself that which drama serial my family is watching?

But after few minutes,I left the room as it was so mess in that serial that it was not at all understandable for me or woh bhi in the very first go.. not possible man..

My mother and sister started watching it from the day 1.One day after watching a Pakistani Serial,I had nothing to do.I sat with my mother and sister aimlessly and that was the time when Fatima Gul was about to get aired.I sat and literally “tried” to watch and bear those dubbed voices and all..My mother was the one who was doing commentary for me and was explaining me the relation of every single person with Fatima Gul.I was least interested in it,phir bhi murawwat mai sun lea..kuch samjhi kuch bhooli.. And when episode ended, I considered that it wasn’t that bad experience to watch any Turkish serial and that experience went, obviously, against my expectations.
Next day I sat with my mother again and deep inside started feeling bad for that poor girl. All I knew in this serial was Fatima Gul’s family.Rest of the families were unknown to me and I was not even interested in knowing them.Phir bhi my mother started telling me about them.Aik tou itnai ziada log,phir itnay ziada naam.I still remember that I was unable to memorize Kareem’s name,always mixed him with Saleem.And then my younger sister told me , “Aapi, ye black hair waala Kareem hai” and I memorized his name like that “ Ka se Kaalai baal or Ka se Kareem” .. :D..
I started liking the locations,the story line and specially that Mukaddas Khatoon made me attracted towards that serial..:p .. Aisi khatoon mai ne aaj tak kisi Pakistani setial mai nahi daikhi thei na.. :P..
Then I started watching the serial on alternate days.and then came the time when my mother started calling me in her room … Drama lag gaya aajao.. Or mai bhi chali jaati thei..
Gradually, that magic started mesmerizing me and I got much more inclined towards that serial. I started watching it regularly.And then came the time,when I sat infront of television much earlier than my mother and sister. :P..
Alas ! I got the fever of Turkish Serial too.. :P
I have heard many people saying that promoting Turkish serials is somehow making our television industry affected.But,according to my point of view,not even a single of viewers of any channel or any drama are lost because of these Turkish serials.
Pakistani Serials have,still,that spark left in them that they can make the people stick to them.I am not saying that people don’t watch Turkish Serials.They do watch them but alongwith Pakistani Serials.Because Turkish serials have that factor in them which attracts people towards them,maybe locations or maybe the artists..
So,I am not at all against Turkish Serials.They can’t harm our television Industry because our Pakistani Serials have strong roots within everyone’s hearts and minds.

After many delays, the Turkish film Mohabbat Ek Ittefaq is finally releasing on 14 February 2014 which is also Valentines Day. The Turkish name of film is ‘ Aşk Tesadüfleri Sever‘. It was released in 2011 and is one of highest grossing Turkish movies. The main cast of film includes Mehmet Günsür, Batuhan Karacakaya and Belçim Bilgin Erdoğan. It is a triangular love story.
In Pakistan the film is released with Urdu dubbing. It will be interesting to see what type of reception it receives. Turkish dramas are quite popular in our country, now its turn of Turkish film.
A turkish film dubbed in Urdu has been launched in a premier show at Nueplex, Karachi in last week of December 2013. Name of film is ‘Zarb-e-Momin’ and it is based upon israeli atrocities on Palestinians. The event is first of its kind where a Turkish film is dubbed in urdu is introduced to audience. After release in cinema, this film will also be presented on television as a series.

Like Pakistan, Indian films/dramas are also widely viewed in Afghanistan, the western neighbor of Pakistan. But now this popularity is outshined by Turkish dramas. Currently around 200 Turkish dramas are being telecasted across various television channels in Afghanistan.
One such drama is ‘Valley of Wolves’ which is very popular in Afghanistan. The drama is based on a fight between Turkey and American forces in a village of Iraq. Apart from Television channels, the sale of merchandise of this drama is also on the rise in Afghanistan which includes tea shirts and other stuff. According to one such salesman, he easily sells 500-600 such tea shirts daily. The characters and artists of this drama are seen in posters and on cars and buses and even chewing gum wrappers in Afghanistan too.
The latest news is that Hum TV is going to be the next in line to air dubbed Turkish plays despite of all the criticism that the other channels that are airing the dramas are facing. It is a very disappointing development because Hum TV is one of the most favorite Pakistani channels. Hum TV has always promoted good Pakistani dramas. It has made a unique name for itself in all these years. It is very sad that Hum TV feels that they may lose the TRP race if they do not air Turkish dramas.
Even with all the wonderful dramas that are airing on Hum TV right now, they must feel that it is not enough. We may hear a lot of criticism against Turkish dramas but this move by Hum TV goes to prove that people do in fact follow these plays and even prefer them over some of the Pakistani plays.
It seems like the craze for Turkish plays is rising like an epidemic and all the fears and insecurities of our celebrities who were against these plays are turning out to be true.
Since its inception in 2005 Hum TV has worked very actively to revive the drama industry in Pakistan and has done a very good job of it too. From time to time some Indian shows were being aired on Hum TV but never has been a foreign drama aired on the channel. He has decided to open up a Turkish restaurant in Pakistan which will be a chain of his restaurant, ‘Hatay Medeniyetler Sofrasi’. To strengthen the friendship between Pakistan and Turkey, he will be bringing the true taste of Turkish food to Pakistan.
Ozdemir is currently on a visit to Pakistan and he wished to explore Nathia Gali, Murree, and Lahore. Till yet, he has visited different parts of Islamabad and enjoyed his trip.

Indian content and celebrities are seen in abundance on our screens from past one decade since the beginning of age of private satellite channels. The other country which successfully challenged and replaced the Indian content (to some extent) is undoubtedly Turkey. Turkish dramas were welcomed whole heartedly and now all the media houses play Turkish dramas. The pioneer in this trend is Urdu One, which aired the super hit drama Ishqe Mamnu paving the way for others too. In compariosn Turkish drama are of superior production quality and story wise much better than then the crap and senseless Indian drama.

This popularity also compelled a textile brand to cast a turkish celebrity as its brand ambassador. Popularity wise Baren Saat (Ishqe Mamnu, Fatima Gul) and Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ (Ishqe Mamnu, Manahil aur Khalil, Noor, Kuzey Guney) perhaps tops the list of the famous turkish celebrities among Pakistani viewers. Apart from Pakistan, turkish celebrities are also widely followed in whole middle east, north africa and balkans region.

As per TRT (state run broadcasting corporation of turkey) Baren Saat has received a heavy endorsement offer from Firdose Textiles to work as brand ambassador. The total worth of this deal is 1.5 million (15 laakh) US dollars. Baren Saat has to work as brand ambassador for the product range of 2015. The endorsement deal covers Pakistan as well as whole middle east region as Firdose Textile has plans to expand its business to lucrative market of Middle East. Middle East especially Arabian peninsular countries are known for their demand of luxurious items. Firdose Textiles has already opened its shops in Dubai for this purpose. As per TRT Firdose Textiles has sent the endorsement offer through their Administrator-Manufacturing named Asad Shoaib. Firdose Textiles had also signed Indian celebrities in recent years as brand ambassadors at huge amounts citing their massive following among Pakistani public. However the endorsement amount for Baren Saat is much higher as compared to Indian celebrities.
Ironically, it is not the first occasion to cast a turkish celebrity in Pakistan for a brand. During 1980’s a Turkish artist Naazan Sanchi had already appeared in commercial of Lux.
The general manager of Turkish Airlines announced the investments and facilitation that airline would be offering to the Pakistani feature film Wajood.
The airline would be investing for Jawed Sheikh’s directorial and production venture Wajood.
Jawed Sheikh revealed at the conference:
“Turkish film production company Azat Films has also been roped in for part of the filming that will take place in the country. The cast of Wajood will also include renowned names from the Turkish along with Pakistani and Indian film industry. As part of the agreement, more than 45 scenes from the film will be shot at different scenic locations in the gorgeous Turkey including songs and some integral parts of the movie.”
Up until today, only a few Hollywood stars have managed to get Turkish Airlines to invest for their projects hence this is a big achievement for Sheikh as well as the Pakistani film industry.
It seems that now Priyanka will be dealt harshly and will face a scrutiny globally. Recently a Famous Turkish actress Ersa Bilgic who has played character of Haleema sultan in Famous Turkish series Dirilisurtugrul has called on Priyanka that being hateful and chant about war isn’t something good for a responsible person, who is the Goodwill ambassador to UN.
Commented on instagram showing her disappointment on how she behaved in the beatycon ‘s event with a pakistani girl she said ” being patriotic doesn’t mean you should encourage the war.
