Dil-e-Muztar Episode 2 – Keeping Me Hooked!

0

This is what I call a full package! This show has a brilliant cast, superb direction, an outstanding screenplay and lastly beautiful background music. This show keeps you on the edge of your seat because of the emotionally loaded scenes, the smooth pace, the twists and turns and the mind blowing acting. Every actor in this show so far has done a wonderful job.

We finally got to see everyone’s reaction when Silah announced that she wants to marry Adeel. Adeel and her mother were shocked and taken aback as both could not have even imagined of such a thing. Safeena, Zamaan and the rest were shocked, upset and angry all at the same time. As predicted they blamed Zehra and Adeel for trapping their daughter to make their conditions better. Adeel blatantly rejected Silah and announced that he would never marry her. He was extremely angry at Silah’s foolishness and it is evident that he dislikes her immensely now.

Adeel was blamed yet again when Silah left her home. He looked for her far and wide to get her home safely and remove the accusations that Safeena and Zamaan had blamed him off. He was successful in finding her and took her home immediately just in time to see Muneeb insulting his mother and he gave Muneeb the slap he rightfully deserved. Adeel’s one weakness is his mother and he could not stand anyone misbehaving with her. I had a huge grin on my face when he slapped him! Imran Abbas was the star of this episode!

The Silah leaving home fiasco led to Adeel and Silah’s Nikkah. Zehra coerced Adeel by emotionally blackmailing him and he did the Nikkah just to make his mother happy. According to Adeel ‘He cannot live with an emotional girl like Silah’ and every time he sees her he will remember the humiliation he suffered at the hands of her parents. Silah, on the other hand, was ecstatic as her wish was finally coming true. Silah should have atleast asked Adeel about his opinion. It was a very selfish and immature decision of her to announce her liking for Adeel and expect everyone to agree wholeheartedly and on top of that, leave the house without telling anyone. She should have thought about Adeel and his mother as they would be the first ones to be blamed for her sudden disappearance. Adeel agreed to the Nikkah to make Zehra happy but he is no mood to accept Silah anytime soon.

Silah has no idea what she has signed up for. Adeel hates her and she is no more than a burden for him at this point. She crushed the one thing that he was proud of; his self respect. He is in no mood to forgive her and a rough time is ahead of her as his treatment of her will be very bad initially. How will Silah win Adeel’s heart? It will be interesting to watch the upcoming episodes. It seems like Adeel and Silah will move out of her house and Zamaan and Safeena will disown them.

I would like to specially mention the lyrics of the OST which was spoken by Imran Abbas himself.

Dil e Muzter ko samjhaya bohot hai
Magar is dil nay tarpaaya bohot hai
Qayamat hai ye tark e arzoo bhi
Mujhe aksar wo yaad aya bohot hai
Magar is dil nay tarpaya bohot hai

dil e muzter 1

Hearing some of these beautiful lyrics in Imran Abbas’s voice made my day. It was played in the background during the emotionally charged scene when Adeel finds Silah and he looks at her with hate and anger in his eyes while Silah looks at him lovingly. They had no dialogues but their expressions were enough to show their emotional turmoil. It was one of the best scenes of the episode for me! Sanam Jung is doing a great job as Silah. She has not disappointed me so far. I hope her performance will not disappoint me in the future either. Imran Abbas is perfect for the role of Adeel as he depicts all his emotions very well. His expressions in today’s episode were too good!

Keep watching the show! A lot of things are coming up!

The showbiz industry is unique, people can surely do anything to earn fame and follower-ship and a good example of it is Ali Saleem. The very talented Ali who is known for his endless talent in the field of acting and hosting started his career with a program where he acted like a political leader, Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) and earned a great deal of appreciation for this impersonation . Soon after that Ali Saleem re-launched himself as Begum Nawazish Ali and hosted a talk show on a private channel. He was then seen in Big Boss Season 4 , with Veena Malik in the same avatar.

Preconceived Notions of Audiences of the Television Industry

0

Audiences of our Television industry have grown in the past decades. Pakistani shows are not only watched in Pakistan but by Pakistanis and other nationalities living all over the world. They have won everyone’s heart because of their quality story, beautiful direction and realistic acting. But as they became more popular many preconceived or stereotypical notions developed among the audiences. These notions are infectious and they spread among the audiences like wild fire. They change the mindset of many people who had not even thought about them before. Here are a few preconceived notions of our audiences:

Any novel based show is a must watch!

Audiences have become biased when it comes to watching shows. One of the top categories for watching a show is that it should be written by popular novelist like Umera Ahmed, Faiza Iftikhar, Farhat Ishtiaq, Razia Butt who have given us popular shows like Humsafar, Shehr e Zaat, Dastaan, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Meri Zaat Zarre Benishan, Najia, Saiqa, Aik Nayee Cinderella, Haroon Toh Piya Teri and the list goes on. It is true that novel based dramas are good and people have high expectations from them but most of the time, the script of the drama is very different from the actual novel which disappoints the audiences and they complain about it. If only they would stop expecting from novel adopted dramas and give new writers a chance then the viewership of many other shows would increase.

Once a hit always a hit!

Another common belief among the audiences is that once an actor/director gives a hit, they are supposed to give hits all the time. It is normal for the expectations of the audiences to rise after a show becomes a hit but they need to understand that hits and misses are common in our industry. You cannot expect directors/actors to give one hit after the other. If some shows are brilliant, the others may not be able to match up to that standard. One of the examples would be of the popular director Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, the expectations from him rose to a very high level after his blockbuster show Humsafar, he was immensely praised for his work and was tagged as one of the best directors in the industry but as soon as people saw the show Ashk which was also directed by him, the tag went down the drain and apparently he was a huge disappointment! Another example would be of Haissam Hussain, audiences could not stop praising him for his brilliant direction in Dastaan but as soon as they saw Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan Bhi Tha, he was highly criticized for his work. The audiences need to understand that a show consists of many elements like story, screenplay, acting, direction and last but not the least good editing. All these factors combine together to make a good show and one person is not responsible for a show being a hit or a flop. To expect them to give one hit after the other only manages to pressurize them and they go as far as disowning their flop shows as with the case of Sarmat Khoosat who refuses to talk about any of his flop shows (especially Ashk).

The shows with the clichéd story lines are the worst!

Another preconceived notion of many audiences is that shows based on the concept of step-mothers, evil mother–in-laws and second marriages are just not worth their time. When they see the promos, the only thing that comes to their mind is ‘Oh God… not the same story again’ but the amusing part here is that the shows with such clichéd concepts are highest rated dramas. We get to hear a lot of criticism and complain from the audiences in the beginning but these are the people who eventually watch it too! This is what we call hypocrisy! The recently aired show Aik Tamanna Lahasil Si which was based on the concept of evil mother-in-law was one of the highest rated dramas during its airing time. Other examples include Mera Yaqeen and the currently popular show Daagh; both are based on the concept of second marriages. Audiences complain that the shows are too depressing for their taste, but they are the ones who watch it and increase the ratings. The reason why we get to see the same concepts over and over again is because it is liked and watched by the masses.

Oh it’s a Momina Duraid Production; I will watch it for sure!

Another common practice among the audiences is to judge shows by their production houses. I agree that Momina Duraid, A & B productions and Humayun Saeed production houses are the best production houses in our industry but they are not the only production houses. These three production houses rule the industry with an iron fist and people prefer to see shows from these production houses only. The reason why they attracted so many viewers is because of the quality of shows they offered. However, new production houses with good quality shows are emerging to compete with these popular banners. One of the emerging production houses is Natak Entertainment, Producers of the show Ghaao which is currently airing on Geo TV. This production house definitely has a future!

A big NO for any other channel except Hum TV, ARY and Geo TV

Another preconceived notion of our audiences is that quality dramas are only offered by these three channels. If someone had asked me this question a few years ago, I would have agreed wholeheartedly but now many other channels have emerged who have much to offer to the audiences. The new emerging channels are Aplus and Express entertainment. Aplus is offering quality dramas such as Barf and Koyla Hogai Main while express is offering shows like Talkhiyaan, Tishnagi and Sirat e Mustaqeem. Even PTV has improved a lot in past few years and is offering quality shows, but few people watch it as they have created a mindset of their own. All we need to do is change our mindset! Gone are the days when these three channels ruled the Television industry…

Rare Snaps from the Set of Talkhiyaan!

The private channels have given a boost to the new projects, keeping the audience entertained with something or the other. These days it seems like Sanam Saeed is enjoying a great time in her career and no doubt, she deserves that equally. Though her acting is much popular for her current drama Zindagi Gulzar hai, her another drama which is been aired on Express entertainment, Talkhiyan is also one of her magnificent pieces of work. Here are the few random snaps from the set of Talkhiyan, Have a look!

Zindagi Gulzar Hai Episode 14 – Zaroon Grow Up!

Today’s episode reminded me of the few Kashaf/Zaroon interaction scenes from college since there was absolutely no change in Zaroon’s behavior towards Kashaf and Kashaf’s behavior towards Zaroon remained the same too. Kashaf’s attitude towards Zaroon was quite justified but watching Zaroon resort to the same old tactics was actually quite disappointing and somewhat annoying! Has he forgotten that he is engaged? He expects Asmara to change her ways because she is engaged to him now but he obviously feels that the same rule does not apply to him. I could not help but wonder what Zaroon meant when he said that Kashaf had changed. She was always confident and distant just like she is now. Was Zaroon talking about her appearance? It was actually nice to see Kashaf snub Zaroon when he talked to her right in the beginning of the episode since that was more in line with Kashaf’s character than Kashaf’s behavior in the brief scene at the end of the last episode.

ZGH6

Kashaf has to be the only girl in Zaroon’s life who did not fall for his charm immediately (remember the one week deadline) and that could possibly be the reason why Zaroon finds it impossible to let go of her. After Zaroon and Kashaf’s meeting I really missed Sidrah and was delighted to see Kashaf having a conversation with Sidrah later on. I am glad that Sidrah is still in the picture because Kashaf’s conversations with her give us more of an insight into what is going on in Kashaf’s head than anything else.

This episode proved further that Murtaza is void of all feelings and is easily allured by whatever works for his benefit. His attitude towards his second wife and son has greatly changed and so has his behavior towards Rafia. I was hoping that Murtaza would have realized that he was wrong but I think that he is only being nice to Rafia because of Kashaf’s new status.

dinner

Osama and Kashaf have grown into good friends since they have been in touch with each other all these years. I was as surprised as Zaroon when Osama told him that he was in touch with Kashaf because no one mentioned it before this, not even Kashaf while talking to her sisters or writing her diary. It was somewhat surprising that Osama decided to propose Kashaf even after his conversation with Zaroon. But I must give the guy credit, he has guts! I am waiting to find out how Kashaf will respond since there was talk of a proposal in the next episode’s promo. I remember Kashaf was very happy for Sidrah when she got married and thought that her husband was a nice man, since Kashaf has known Osama for so long she should know that he has the “character” she has been looking for in a man. I see absolutely no reason for her to reject this proposal but I wonder what is going to happen if she decides to consider it.

zaroon

I am sure that other people have also noticed that the background music can be extremely strange (somewhat cartoonish) sometimes especially in scenes with Zaroon in them. Fawad Khan was absolutely brilliant in today’s episode, his body language and dialogue delivery could not have been better. This latest episode gave me something to look forward to and I can’t wait to find out how the story unfolds now.

Silvatein Episode 4 – Get Over With Confusions Please

0

Once again the whole episode kept on stirring the confusions in each & every matter. All this while, it was actually getting on my nerves that why things couldn’t go easy & smooth? Why each & every member of the family was weaving something on their own & feeding it to others. I know, it looked interesting at first, but now it’s nothing less than a mind-teaser.

Natasha, finally got what she deserved. Grabbed Bilal from her sister, when understood that Zeb let go off him, she lost interest in him. Found out about his side job & dependence on his elder brother, she again lost interest in him because now she knows that her ex-bf is going to be well-settled in Nairobi. Like her mother said, that Natasha always wanted what Zeb got, but the moment Zeb gave it to her, she lost interest & now if we look at it, the same thing happened with Bilal’s proposal as well. She was frowning & mentioned in front of Yawar that Zeb has gotten such a nice proposal but when Zeb passed it on to her, she was happy but now she is not. This was the only reason, she was trying to convince her mother to reject the proposal & tried to tell her that she doesn’t want to get married to Bilal using Zeb as an excuse but she wasn’t actually feeling for Zeb, in stead, she was just doing what she is used to, rejecting after getting what she wanted to snatch away from Zeb.

I was once again amazed at how bluntly she lied to Yawar’s face just in a nick of time when that moment arose. She made him suffer & convinced him so cleverly that it was his fault for which she is getting married now. Wow! I couldn’t stop wondering about the speed with which her brain works.

Zeb, on the other hand, once again tried to save Natasha from her Pupho’s suspision. She took Yawar’s blame on her & told her Pupho that if she tells anyone about it a hell would break loose. Natasha should be happy to have found a sister like Zeb, who doesn’t let anything bad slide on her younger sister.

Natasha has now clearly learned that Bilal actually liked the girl to whom he spoke on the phone. Natasha knows it was Zeb & still she kept quiet in front of him. But she came raving about it to Zeb & tried to blame her for getting her hooked to Bilal. I actually do not like her character at all, for all the things she is doing now. She is mean, conceited & someone who only feels for herself & wants the best. Why is she trying to blame Zeb for her condition now? Like Zeb said, she tried to impress Bilal but when she understood that he is not interested, she took a back-track & moved on, but Natasha is now unhappy & trying to make Zeb feel bad.

When the drama began, I thought this would be based on anything but sister rivalry but I was sort of wrong. Zeb, at one hand, states that she is perfectly alright & she herself let go off Bilal but deep inside she is suffering, she is sad & was least interested when she had to attend the function of her sister. Zeb, may not be putting up her opinion about her sister so harshly but Natasha does it all the time.

What I did not enjoy was the lies & a line of lies over & over again that were exchanged from one family member to the other. All I know is that family ties are known for sharing secrets & sharing the inner-most feelings but here it looked like anything but that. Mother was telling a lie to the daughter, daughter was lying to the mother, sisters are lying to each other  I kind of hope that the whole scene of Natasha’s wedding gets over ASAP because it is making me lose interest in this drama. I want to see more of Zeb & how her life turns out to be with Bilal’s elder brother.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Mirat-ul-Uroos Episode 14 & 15 – Review

Aima and Hashim finally got married in this episode and the shaky start of their marriage was not surprising at all. Hashim wanted a grand wedding and most of all he can’t seem to get over his obsession with the car. I really liked the way Aima stood up for what she thought was right and was quite happy with a simple wedding. Akbari’s annoyance with everything that goes on in her son’s house made me laugh; Ayesha Khan is doing a commendable job and although I may not agree with Akbari’s thinking but I am enjoying her character now. Hashim’s father’s statement “Billi ko chichray nahi miley” was very true and funny as well. Hashim really needs to grow up and there is definitely a big communication gap between Aima and Hashim. Not to mention the fact that both are poles apart.

Hamnah continued to be selfish and just like her other siblings she has absolutely no regard for what her parents say. While it is important that when two people are engaged they should communicate with each other in order to know each other better and find out if they get along or not but at the same time it creates problems for parents too. Hamnah’s fiancé is constantly dictating to her how he wants things to be and she would much rather listen to him than her parents and grandmother. The only reason Hammad had a grand wedding too was because Ayza kept on telling him how she wanted things to be and everything happened according to Ayza’s wishes. There are times when I feel that Aima is being a little too preachy but I do feel that if more girls and boys start thinking like her, it will put an end of most of the problems that parents face while getting their children married. The way most people think Aima is being unreasonable was very nicely shown and the dialogues “Yehi tu masla ho gaya hai hamare masharay ka Sahi kaam kurne wala ab ajeeb hai” was so true.

I have to agree with one of the readers now who commented earlier on that Ayza’s insecurity was the main reason why she did not want Aima to get married in the same house. Ayza thought Aima’s idea of a simple marriage was “chichorpuna/dikhawa” and felt that by appreciating Ayza her In Laws were putting her down. I was actually surprised when Rafia kept on blaming Aima and Hashim’s engagement for all the bad things that were happening in the house. But I also like the fact that Rafia does not blame Ayza every time Hammad lets her down in any way. I really liked the way Asghari explained to Rafia about rights and duties and how Hammad was not doing them a favor by helping them with the finances. I could not help but wonder though that why can’t Hammad’s father still work somewhere since I have seen many men older than him working even after they get retired.

The entire issue regarding Guddu was also something that should serve as a good warning for some people. And even after everything that happened Akbari kept on blaming Amna’s servant in public, although in her heart she knew that Guddu was the one at fault. I am actually enjoying Akbari’s character now since it is one of a kind and I do know people like that who will do anything to prove themselves right.

Overall these two episodes highlighted a lot of important issues and like always were very relatable. The reasons why this play fails to win one over completely is because of the repetition and also because the picture quality is not that impressive. Everyone acted well in these episodes, so no complaints there. I am looking forward to seeing how Aima manages to resolve the issues with Hashim but at the same time the car issue has been blown out of proportion and it is about time we moved on.

Adnan Sami to become a writer!

0

Adnan Sami Khan is one of those popular celebrities who never let their charm dim in anyway.  Starting his career as a composer, singer and actor in Pakistan Adnan was quick to find the most suitable destination for himself. Soon after his debut album in India, Adnan Sami became the most wanted singer and Composer in the neighboring country. Adnan has taken a new turn in his career and has decided to jot down the most significant points from his life and give them a shape.

adnan-sami

While he was asked about this, he replied:

”if I have to make a film about how my life has been so far, then it will be a full-of-masala flick, I know that! In any case, my independent music albums are biographical but penning it down is something I have just started. I’m writing notes because there are so many incidents which I don’t want to forget and maybe one day, who knows, a biopic might be made out of those notes. I am writing notes which could be possibly used for biography in the form of a book. Let’s see if somebody want to do a biopic at least I have got my notes ready. I have signed a movie and I am playing a conman, who is inefficient and not a bright person, a clumsy character. It’s an intelligent script. In the next few months, the film will go on floors.

This means that we  will be having  a double dose from this celebrity in the upcoming days,

Kahi Unkahi Episode 17 – All About Sherry.

0

This episode completely revolved around Sherry. His feelings, his family’s treatment, his hatred & somewhat his regret. Too bad to see that he is still under a false idea about Zoya. We didn’t get to know much about Zoya.

The story is progressing a lot at Ansar’s side. His strings to Seema have been attached to quite some while now & it doesn’t only stay confined to baseless meetings but has a house involved. This can be called another one of those flicks of elite class’s men which they have portrayed. Ansar mentioned that he never committed her for wedding, so why did he buy her a whole big house? What is she giving for taking so much from him. Mariam’s real nightmare has started after finding out the lipstick clad tissue. I hope she doesn’t stay quiet & involve the whole family in between, but then again if she’d do it, Ansar will detest her more. I guess her wisdom in this given situation will make Ansar fall in love with her.

Sherry was all over the place in this episode. From Rajjo’s hostel to garden, to car, to his room. I liked his intensity when he stood up against Mr. Kamal. His father needed to realize it big time that Sherry is no more a helpless child, for whom he can still take decisions or impose himself on him. Whatever Sherry said was true & I hated to see Mr. Kamal act like a spoilt brat who wasn’t ready to listen to his son & still, after so much, he insisted that Sherry should get committed to Anam.

I really liked Sherry & Mariam’s conversation, more of his actually but was really aweful to see Mariam, despite of understanding how he feels was still trying to convince him. I think Sherry needs some support at this stage & Mariam, acting like his sister should extend some to him. Most of the episode was spent in the flashbacks where Sherry is struggling between the image he knew of Zoya & the image Anam made him see. Let’s hope things get sorted out ASAP & we see a happy ending soon enough.

Loved seeing how Anam was thrown out of Sherry’s room by him in the preview of next episode. Can’t wait for it, lol.

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 5 – Totally Hooked!

0

A brilliant episode once again! The pace of the show and its twists and turns are keeping me hooked to the show. Mohib Mirza and Saba Qamar have done a spectacular job. At first, I was a bit skeptical about Mohib doing the role of Shayan, even his new look seemed like it would not suit him, but I must say he is the perfect person for the role of Shayan and his look completely complements his character of a beauty loving artist. Sohail Javed has done a wonderful job as the director and Maha Malik’s script is like a cherry on top.

Finally Shayan marries Irfa in this episode. It was about time he realized how important Irfa was in his life. He never valued her before because she was always around but when he realized that he would lose her forever he got scared and finally proposed her on the night of her Mehendi. Well, Thank God it wasn’t during her Nikkah! That would have been extremely clichéd! Shayan compromised on one thing he values the most and that is beauty. Outer beauty is a very important factor to a person like him. He compromised because he was scared of his loneliness but for how long? At one point or the other the beauty worshiping nature of his personality will become dominant. Will he regret his decision then?

Irfa and Shayan have a great chemistry and I loved all their scenes in this episode. To some extent, Irfa does feel inferior in front of Shayan. In the scene where Shayan takes her out, Irfa could not help but recall Shayan’s dialogues of unmatched pairs roaming around together. She also took Mahjabeen’s dialogues to heart when she told her that a person like Shayan gets bored of colors easily and need new colors in his life all the time. She got extremely upset when Mahjabeen said “Rang Peekha parhne mein time nahi lagega” and Shayan’s preferences will soon change.

I must say Juggan Kazim is doing a great job as Mahjabeen. Her comic character balances the highly emotional scenes in the episode. She got more than what she deserved. Shayan ditched her and she got married to Nasir who treats her like a princess and she dominates him in every way possible. They make a perfect pair! Their after marriage scenes were extremely hilarious. Especially the one when Irfa sees the newlyweds and their lovey dovey moments and she could not help but laugh, and the awkward way Nasir greeted her. Now she is Irfa Baji for him! Extremely hilarious scene!

“Mein Duniya ki Kisi bhi larki to thukra sakhta hun per Irfa ko nahi”

These dialogues were spoken by Shayan after he and Irfa got married and Irfa was voicing out her doubts about their future relationship. Shayan is a very unpredictable character. His mood and his preferences change very quickly. Let’s see if Shayan would remain true to his words.

I loved all the dialogues spoken by Irfa in this episode. She is surprised and happy at the same time because of the change in Shayan’s attitude towards her. A beautiful line that remained in my memory while watching the episode was when Shayan told her that I may be unpredictable but at the end of the day I will always come back to you and Irfa said that I will always wait for you no matter what. Wow! That’s one beautiful dialogue!

Shayan’s non serious attitude towards life has started to irk me a little. I thought after her mother’s death he would start taking his life seriously but I was wrong. He still refuses to do a job despite Irfa’s persistence. He actually took her advice in a bad sense which made Irfa give up on him. On the whole, it was a great episode. I am curious to know what will happen next! I am sure this show will manage to take the top spot if its pace remains the same.

Keep watching this wonderful show and do leave your valuable comments!

Daagh Episode 18 – Height of Insensitvity!

0

I have no words after watching this heart breaking episode. I have no respect left for Murad after this episode. He finally spilled to Umama what was in his heart all this time.

“Tumne mujhe aj tak diya hee kiya hai siwaye 4 betiyon ke, Deeba ne mujhe mere waris, mere bête diye hai”

The heart wrenching cries of Umama after hearing these words made me switch the channel. Meher Bano’s acting was spot on! Murad finally voiced out the one thing she dreaded to hear the most. Umama was quiet as long as her daughters were given their rights but now Murad’s attitude towards his daughters has changed drastically after the arrival of his two precious soon; Azher and Waleed.

Deeba has become adamant on making Umama and her daughters’ life miserable. Her tactics are extremely annoying and cheap. First, she kicked the kids out of their own room as she wanted the room for Azher and Waleed. Then she told Murad to shift the 4 of them upstairs in a store like room and if this wasn’t enough she wrongly blamed Hira for dropping her son purposely which led to an argument between Deeba and Umama and resulted in Murad slapping Umama! This was the last straw and Umama’s patience completely gave away and she moved back to her father’s house.
This time she told everything to her father about how she was being treated in the house and he supported her and her decision. At least she can live peacefully there. I really hope she does not go back after this humiliation. Murad has completely become Deeba’s personal puppet and does everything that she asks. She asked Murad to transfer the house to her son’s name and he agreed despite Umama’s protest. I could not help but laugh at the irony of the situation when I saw Murad tailing after Deeba. Previously, Deeba followed Murad and he did not pay heed to her and now Murad is completely at Deeba’s mercy.

The only person in the house who still values and cares about Umama is Rehana. The main reason for her concern is because she is indebted to her as she gave her the child she always craved for. Rehana tried a lot to make Murad realize his mistake but it was all to no avail as he did not pay any heed to her words. I loved Rehana’s dialogue when Murad said that Umama will regret leaving the house and she bluntly told him ‘Kahi pachtana tumhe hee na parh jaye’. This dialogue brought a huge smile to my face. Murad and his selfish mother will definitely regret the way they have treated Umama. Rehana also tried to make Murad realize that Deeba is not capable of providing a good upbringing to his sons, only Umama can do that. So true! Her upbringing is brilliant and it reflects in her daughters.

Here we go again! Whenever Aqeela feels like she cannot do the house chores alone anymore, she remembers Umama. How pathetic! She only sees Umama as a working machine with no feelings and emotions. How insensitive can people get? She wants Umama back in the house so that she would do all the work 24/7 while she lays back and get some rest. Umama has become nothing but a scape goat for everybody! Its time she realizes her own value and leaves these selfish, good for nothing people. I hope she takes Atiqa’s advice and start her studies again and stand on her own feet. It is about time she learns to live without the support of others.

Fahad Mustafa never fails to disappoint me with his superb acting. The character of Deeba suits Sana Askari perfectly. Her acting is so convincing that I cannot help but hate Deeba from the bottom of my heart! She can do positive as well as negative roles perfectly and this is one quality which few actors possess. I really hope Umama does not return to that torture house! I am eager to know what happens next. I really hope we get to see Murad and Aqeela regretting their behavior soon.
Keep watching to find out what happens next!

Humaima Malik and Mika Singh to perform Together in HUM Awards 2013!

0

It is always a pleasure to see that the people of Pakistan have come out of the foreign craze and are cherishing their own dramas in every sense. While the half of the credit goes to the audience, it is to be remembered that the private channels  are also responsible for creating a good local market in the field of talent and entertainment. Now that the dramas are leading the entertainment industry, an appreciation to the artists is something that must be given for their work. As announced few days back, It is Hum TV that would soon be coming up with the HUM Awards 2013, paying a tribute to the great projects of the previous year.

What is new in this regard is about Lux Style award Winner, Humaima Malik who would be performing in the ceremony with none other than Mika Singh. Mika is  an Indian pop singer who is known for his never ending controversies when it comes to woman. Mika  would be coming to Pakistan to show his presence and for his performance in Karachi soon. As for  Humaima, she is  one of the most talented actresses of the country. She made the screen hers after her flawless acting in Ishq  Junoon Deewangi, having co-stars like Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui and Faisal  Qureshi. It was  then Akbari Asghari that turned out to be  lucky enugh to bring her  praises.

Saba Hameed’s Talented Family Tree!

0

Saba Hameed is one of the most popular veteran actors of Television Industry. She has been seen in the most popular drama serials like Dastaan, Main Abdul Qadir Hoon, Qaid e Tanhai, Aks, The Baraat series and the recently ended show Aik Tamanna Lahasil Si. It would not be wrong to say that she is the vamp of our drama industry. She is usually seen in negative or grey shaded roles which are played to perfection by her. However, she has also shown versatility by doing positive roles in Dastaan and the Baraat series and a comic role in the show Family Front. Saba has proved time and time again what a brilliant actress she is. Her acting is so natural that you want to hate her when she plays a negative role but you also cannot help but love her in her positive roles. This actress who is in her late 50’s (believe it or not) has impressed everyone with her talent.

Her family is filled with talents of all sorts. She is the daughter of a renowned columnist and writer Hamid Akhtar. She has two kids from her first marriage to Syed Pervaiz Shafi; Meesha Shafi and Faris Shafi who are both equally talented like their mother. Her second husband Waseem Abbas is also renowned actor of our industry. However, they are divorced now. (Not sure if this is a rumor or actually true!)

meeshaMeesha Shafi:
Meesha Shafi is the daughter of Saba Hameed and has made her own name in the entertainment industry. She is a singer, actor as well as a model.
She started her career by appearing in Jawad Ahmed video Bin Teray Kya Hai Jeena. She started her career as a model soon after that. She was the spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris Pakistan and has appeared in International magazines such as Vogue. She then entered the television industry and was seen in shows like Muhabbat Khawab ki Soorat and Ye Zindagi To Woh Nahi. Her biggest career breakthrough was when she signed the Hollywood movie, The Reluctant Fundamentalist. She was seen alongside popular actors like Kate Hudson and Liev Schreiber in the movie. She will also be seen in the Bollywood movie, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

Her versatility did not end here. She then tried her luck in singing and was the lead vocalist in the band called Overload. And who can forget her famous song from Coke Studio Jugni Allah Wali which she sang alongside Arif Lahor. It is the most popular Coke Studio song yet with about 10+ million views on YouTube. She also contributed to the soundtrack of her movie, The Reluctant Fundamentalist.

FarisFaris Shafi:
Faris Shafi is the son of Saba Hameed and Syed Pervaiz Shafi. He started his career as a rapper/singer and is known for his video Awaam. He is another addition to the talented family of Saba Hameed. He then tried his luck in acting and was seen in the popular show Manjali which aired on Geo TV. It came as a surprise when I got to know that he is the son of Saba Hameed and that too after the show Manjali ended! He performed well for a newcomer and we hope to see him in other shows too.

His second video Tere Bina was not as successful as his first video but it did manage to entertain the viewers. His videos cannot compete with the Saeein AKA Ali Gul Pir’s standard, but they have made loyal viewers of their own.

waseemWaseem Abbas:
Waseem Abbas is the second husband (or ex husband) of Saba Hameed and he is also the son of the popular actor Inayat Hussain Bhatti. He is a famous veteran actor and director. He started his career in the 1980’s and is seen in films like Badaltey Mausam, Manzil and Zara Si Baat. He has done many TV shows such as Family Front, Landa Bazaar, Mera Saeein 2 and is recently seen in Zindagi Gulzar Hai. He had taken a break from acting and resumed it after many years with the show Mera Saeein 2. He will also be seen in the show Kaala Jaadu very soon.

Salman Ahmed Talks about Naya Pakistan to BBC

0

Pakistan is a country of music having a rich history in this field and is still producing the best singers who are making the country proud by working all over the world. There was a time few years back when the patriotism was easy to see among the singers who used to come up with music, especially dedicating their piece of work to the nation. However, things seemed a but different in the recent years and nothing like ‘Hai Jazba Junoon..’ was seen. You might have heard about the Naya Pakistan- Inshallah song that has emerged on screen few days  back, which can be considered as an attempt to rejoin the broken pieces of two bands, namely, Vital Signs and Junoon.

1

Naya Pakistan is a song been done by Salman Ahmed and Junaid Jamshed who are the lead vocalists of  the song. Salman recently talked to BBC news about their new work and revealed that writing the lyrics of the song was as spontaneous as anything as he was sleeping when he heard the phrase ‘Insha’Allah.. Insha’Aallah’, he immediately got up and wrote the lyrics.  He was quick enough to respond over it  and shared it with Shahzad and Junaid.

images

What makes it interesting is the  fact that Junaid Jamshed left music long time back for his religion and was not up for this new idea but it was Salman who made it clear that the idea wouldn’t go against the teachings of  Islam and no instrument would be used for music.

The Song is quite energetic and by now it is leading the charts.

We wish more power to the nation and the singers affiliated to it,

Best Wishes

Dil e Muzter Episode 1 – A Brilliant Start!

0

Bravo! Brilliant first episode! After two weeks of delay, we finally got to see the most awaited show of the season. First episodes are usually boring and slow but this episode had a very steady pace. The story is not new but it has been portrayed differently by the director and Hats off to him as his efforts have paid off and the result is beautiful. Now coming to the characters:

 photo rrf

Imran Abbas plays the role of Adeel who lives with his mother in his Chacha’s house. They moved there after the demise of his father. He and his mother are treated more or less like servants by her Chacha and Chachi but they never complain as they owe them a lot. Adeel is shown as a serious guy with a 9 to 5 job and the only person he is close to is his mother. They share a very strong bond and he is always concerned about her and her constant working schedule and dislikes the way her mother is treated by the other members of the house. The only person in the house who cares about both Adeel and his mother is his cousin, Silah.

photo

Sanam Jang plays the role of Silah who is shown as a very loving, caring and helpful character. She is the only daughter of her parents but is not shown as the typical spoil brat. She is actually the complete opposite of her parents and treats both Adeel and his mother with respect and tries to help them in every way possible. She is well aware of the insensitive nature of her parents and tries to make up to Adeel and her Chachi on their behalf. I loved the way she helped Adeel when his bike stopped working and arranged for the car. She also shares a very close bond with her Zehra Chachi (Ismat Zaidi) and helps her out with her work whenever she can get away from the prying eyes of her mother. She likes her cousin Adeel who seems unaware of her feelings. She cares about every tiny little detail related to him and the scene where she brings the cake on his birthday was one of the best scenes of the episode for me!

Saba Hameed plays the role of Safeena, Silah’s step mother. Saba has again played the same grey shaded role and is seen degrading Zehra Bhabhi in every way possible. She considers both Zehra and Adeel as a burden and leaves no chance to treat them like servants. Thankfully, we did not get to see the typical stepmother as Safeena loves Silah like her own daughter. Thank god for small mercies! I absolutely love Saba’s new look. She looks extremely fresh and young on screen with her new haircut and just the right amount of makeup. Now who can say that this woman is in her late fifties?

Ismat Zaidi is doing a wonderful job as Zehra. Mohsin Gilani as Zamaan (Silah’s father) did not manage to impress me though. I have already started to dislike his character because of the way he treats his nephew with a cold and nonchalant attitude.

Finally, we got to see Imran Abbas in a drama after a long time. He never fails to impress me and I am already in love with his character. Sanam Jang does not seem like a newcomer at all! She is doing wonders onscreen. I loved the way she openly rejects her cousin Muneeb and tells everyone that she wants to marry Adeel instead. I will give this episode an 8/10 for its brilliant pace and excellent acting by all the characters. This show was definitely worth the wait! I am really excited for the next episode! What will be her parent’s reaction to this news? Will they agree to get her married to Adeel? Does Adeel also have feelings for her?
Keep watching to find out!

Junaid Jamshed’s and Salman Ahmed’s Naya Pakistan Released- Motivational Effort!

0

As the rumors caught fire in the social media with the news that Junaid Jamshed is returning to music and has been seen in a studio with the Vital signs again, is now easy to be disclosed with the latest patriotic song been released few hours back.

The country of greens, the nation that came into existence after a long struggle is now loosing its credibility in the world for the tag that has been placed on it that is, Terrorism.  The increasing poverty and instability within the country has made the youth of the nation pretty hopeless and heart broken. All what the country needs at this time is an honest leader and a motivation for the youth of today, and a similar attempt has been made by the real living heroes in the field of patriotic music.

Junaid Jamshed, a lead vocal of Vital Signs, did give songs like Hum Hain Pakistani-Hum to Jeetenge han Jeetayge, left music following the teachings of Islam and switched his career. Similarly, Salman Ahmed, a guitarist and a singer from the band Junoon, gave historical songs like, “Hai Jazba Junoon to himmat na haar” and “Junoon se aur  ishq se milti hai Azaadi”, too stayed away from music after having few issues within the band.  It is amazing to find that the two of them have come forward with a new song for the nation, called a NAYA PAKISTAN-INSHALLAH!

The Lyrics of the Song is written by Aania Shah and Salman Ahmed Himself. Here are  the Lyrics:

InshAllah…. InshAllah
Naya Pakistan…… InshAllah

InshAllah… InshAllah (2)
Naya Pakistan… Naya Pakistan
Naya Pakistan.. Naya Pakistan

Insaaf ki awaaz uthay
zulm ki deewaar giray
Haq baatil pe ho chaa’ya
Haath utha kar maang dua..
Naya Pakistan…
InshAllah…. InshAllah(2)

Khawaab apna ta’beer ho
Sha’heen ki parwaaz bano
Naya Pakistaan… InshAllah

Naya pakistan..

Insaaf ki awaaz uthay… Zulm ki deewaar giray (InshAllah)
Haq baatil pe ho cha’ya… Haath utha kar maang dua (InshAllah)

Naya Pakistan….

Badlay ga waqt apna.. Ab waqt apna.. ab waqt apna
Dekhay ga… dekhay ga.. Sara jahaan.. sara jahaan
Naya pakistan… InshAllah
InshAllah

The song has been composed  by the entire team, including Salman Ahmad, Shahi Hasan, Nusrat Hussain & Junaid Jamshed, with the backing vocals Nusrat Hussain. Aania Shah. Sherjan Ahmad. Imraan Eelloo Ahmad.

It has been a nice experience to hear Junaid Jamshed all over again,

May this piece of work turns out to be a beneficial one for the nation,

Zindagi Gulzar Hai Episode 13 – Asmara/Zaroon – Farhan/Sara – Ghazala/Junaid!

They say that all good things come to those who wait so I sat through most part of this latest episode waiting for the time when Zaroon and Kashaf will finally meet again and the last few minutes were just not rewarding enough. I must confess that I feel somewhat cheated because I had very high expectations from this episode.  There have been many episodes of Zindagi Gulzar Hai in the past too when there were hardly any Zaroon/Kashaf interactions but I enjoyed them nevertheless because they had a great deal to offer. The first half of today’s episode was extremely repetitive with the same issues resurfacing over and over again. Am I the only one who wants to skip the scenes with Asmra in them? I am sorry I do not want to sound biased but honestly speaking there is nothing new about Mehreen Raheal’s character or her acting. The arguments that Asmara and Zaroon had were nothing new either. The Zaroon/Asmara track could have been easily wrapped up by now. The fact that Sara and Farhan are having the same issues does not help at all. I think both these relationships and the different issues Zaroon/Asmara and Farhan/Sara are having have been dragged on for way too long.

Osama

Zaroon’s conversation with Osama was a breath of fresh air because Zaroon opened up with Osama more than he has with anyone else till now. Just when I started wondering where Osama had gone and whether he was going to be back or not and what became of HIS infatuation with Kashaf, I was pleasantly surprised to see him telling Zaroon exactly what we all have been debating about for so long now. He told Zaroon right in the face that he talked to other girls openly too and that he was being a hypocrite. I do not think that Zaroon was comparing Asmara to Kashaf all this time even subconsciously but Kashaf is definitely closer to his ideals than any other girl he has met till now. His major issue with Asmara is that she does not give what he says and how he feels enough consideration and that she goes out with her male friends who Zaroon does not like. Honestly speaking any other girl who wants to make her relationship work would gladly compromise on these issues without feeling like a “slave” or “kaneez” but these women have a mind of their own.

The highlight of the episode had to be that Murtaza finally realized that he has not done anything for his daughters and they owe him nothing. I expected him to still go ahead and ask Kashaf for favors but the fact that he did not do that went to show that he knows better now. I found Kashaf’s dialogue regarding the “bemar zehnayat” and the reason why most people opt for CSS and do not become doctors, engineers etc self contradictory. I wish we could all have a clearer idea as to why Kashaf opted for government service after doing MBA if this is how she feels about people who would rather get into government service than go into any other profession. She said herself that any other private job could have been more lucrative monetarily. Rafia defended government service more than Kashaf so was it Rafia who wanted Kashaf to do CSS all along? I thought clearing CSS exams and getting into that kind of a job was Kashaf’s dream.

Junaid finally decided to say out loud how he felt about Ghazala ignoring her kids all these years but the way he did it was quite unimpressive and I must say that it is too late for all of that now. Ghazala’s attitude later on when Junaid tells her that Farhan is going ahead with the divorce went to show that nothing that Junaid says to her matters in any way. It is almost annoying the way all these three women completely fail to understand what their men mean when they ask them to compromise or to teach their kids to compromise.

Kashaf family

Rafia’s dialogues about how people’s attitudes change towards others and the reason why most people work so hard to change their circumstances was something that truly made me think. I love how some of these dialogues have so much depth. I liked it when Kashaf asked her mother if Murtaza had apologized for his wrongdoings. Since the change in Murtaza’s attitude has come right after Kashaf’s success so I am wondering if the remorse is genuine, after all that he has done it can’t be too easy for Kashaf to forgive and forget.

Kashaf and Zaroon’s meeting which was the reason I looked forward to this episode all week was so brief that there isn’t much that I can say about it. The precap suggested that Kashaf’s attitude towards Zaroon is not going to be any different even after all this time maybe because she does not forgive and forget easily. I am really looking forward to finding out what Osama has to say to Kashaf.

Do the Children today know more than they should? What Is the Role of Media?

0

With the world getting modern each second, the rituals and the traditions are also changing accordingly.  What our parents used to like in their childhood was what that completely differed to our hobbies and interests and similarly, the kids of today have their own life in which they have new trends, which is obvious and  quite understandable too. However, what makes this topic relevant enough to be discussed is the fact that are the children of today know a little too much than what they should know in their age?  Let us see in detail.

Going back to few years, say 90’s, children and the childhood seemed much civilized.  Getting up at 7am and doing breakfast watching the daily telecast of DODO cartoon on STN (the only private channel that kept the people of the nation entertained along with PTV) and leaving for school, having the sweet thoughts of how amazing the cartoon series were, was certainly bliss. Returning from the school and taking nap with an excitement to get up at 5 to watch the Cartoon Network which used to be aired on STN for two hours. Watching Camp Candy and Tom and Jerry had its own charm in every way. While the children used to enjoy two dedicated hours of the channels, parents too, on the other hand, used to be much relaxed about the secured content been watched by their children.  All in all, watching television was a source of entertainment and not a source of living as it has become now.

camp candy

If you analyze the blessings of few channels in past, you would see that the children were far better students in the past as compared to now. There were special magazines been printed for the kids like Taleem-o-Tarbiyat and Hamdard Naunehal that encouraged the young learners to pay attention on their reading and understanding skills!  Even watching news was a part of learning where students were been directed by their teachers to watch the News been aired at 9pm, where students could learn about the current happenings within the country and the world, which is now obviously pretty different these days.

59706_404001883027286_177224601_n

Hamdard Naunehal August 2012

Now that the world has taken new moves in every sense, the living standards and the life styles have also changed drastically. These days the routine of the children is such that a child sleeps late at night, probably because he is either watching Big Boss late at night or his favorite movie and gets up late for school, often feeling dizzy and mentally tired. Leaving for  school without breakfast and spending at least half an hour in dressing up like John Abraham and setting up the spikes (The mountains as I call them) over their  head. The class discussions are no more limited to the course but often revolve around the latest movies, the celebrity updates and the latest songs. Now that the media has grown much rapidly, no household can avoid the melodramas and the weird topics that are enough to make children someone above their age.

The 24/7 telecast of Cartoon Network, Nick, Disney, etc., has made the cartoon world a less interesting place as now children are much interested in the daily soaps and the love stories that are a must-to-have part. Think about the serial Cinderella, isn’t it funny to change the entire theme of the fairytale under the same slogan? Think about the new spiderman drama where a mother-in-law keeps on sticking to her son’s room, never leaving a chance of privacy. I mean, this is something that is not only dangerous for the nourishment of the little minds but also a threat to the literature and history.

1113 1115

The question still remains, do the children know more than they should, according to me, yes, and thanks to media for this. Even if we skip the drama industry for now, the news and the street shows are enough to do the remaining task. Take my example, I didn’t know anything about the gay society till my O levels, Too dumb of me I guess, but now there are  special shows with bold headings going on, showing interviews of the gays and the live shoot across the streets. How does it possible that first you show everything to the young minds and then expect them to stay away? There are families who do not approve  such shows in front of their children but again, for how long they can protect them from watching the 24/7 online dirt? It’s merely impossible!

111 112

222

Children are becoming bold, losing the sense of boundaries and even a grade VI student can identify whether his teacher is pregnant or not. These are the facts that seem quite absurd to hear or to talk about but really, there is a serious need of recalculating our moral values.

The Media is not the only one to be blamed here, but an overall change of mentalities is needed in the country. Being a part of a Muslim state, it is important to match the fakeness of today with the reality of the religion-and-civilization.

Silvatein Episode 3 – Going Strong.

0

So this was another interesting episode of Silvatein with a little more revelation about the two main characters Zeb & Natasha. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it & I give all the credit to Aminah Sheikh for playing the character so realistically. I was never a fan of her but this drama has changed my perspective towards her.

Once again, I was not pleased to see Natasha acting totally weird. She got involved with a guy but when the moment arose she lied right to his face using her sister’s name. No doubt, she is an introvert & may be ‘seedhi saadi, bholi bhali’ to her mother but she is everything but that. I can understand, how all these years she managed to fool her mother but her simplicity but deep inside she is very clever who knows how to act, given the circumstances. The way she lied to her boyfriend & tried to get rid of him was a shocker.

Zeb’s conversation over the phone was once again funny. She acted like Natasha but wanted to hear what Bilal actually feels about Zeb. It was rather cute to see her defend herself as Zeb while she was being Natasha. What I liked about Zeb was that at first she was over the moon with the idea of such a nice guy proposing to her but when she understood the complication of the situation & that their preference was Natasha, she smoothly backed out & not only that, she ended up convincing her mother that she is perfectly fine with the fact that Bilal wanted to see Natasha first. I loved how he untangled the whole situation just by her wisdom & her wholeheartedness.

Natasha, got a boost when she found out that Zeb was rejected by Bilal & he was all in for Natasha. Previously, she was seen a bit depressed by the opportunity that Zeb was getting in terms of Bilal but now she found all the reasons to rub that to Zeb’s face. I totally agreed to Zeb when she mentioned that Natasha is mean & a liar. She acted just in the nick of time & didn’t let Bilal slip out of her hands. If she wanted to be honest, to herself or to her husband-to-be, she could’ve mentioned straight away to Bilal, that it was Zeb who spoke to him on the phone. She is under a false idea that Bilal liked her, however, Bilal in reality liked Zeb after he spoke to her on the phone thinking she was different.

At this point, I can feel that Natasha, due to her cunningness & planning, might see some hard times once she gets married to Bilal, because right now she has begun her relation with him with a lie. I wonder, what will happen when once Bilal will find out that he spoke to Zeb on the phone thinking it was Natasha. One thing that I really couldn’t understand was that when Natasha was already so focused on getting married to a guy who lives abroad, so why did she start her flick with her neighbour? Till now, she is exposed as a person who is not at all emotionally attached to anyone & only feels for herself. I hope things unwind a bit harshly for her, so that she can understand the unfair she has been doing to Zeb.

Till now, I am enjoying Zeb’s character a lot because she is so real. She gets hurt but doesn’t show, she expects people to understand her but no one does, she is outspoken but does feel deep inside. Can’t wait to see more of all this.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Mirat-ul-Uroos Episode 12 & 13 – Review

0

I have seen many plays in which one constantly feels for the bahu and the saas is continuously being unfair to her son’s wife but this is one play that generates feelings that are completely different. While watching both these episodes I felt for Rafia and Asghari more than anyone else. I must say that there are many girls like Ayza who want their husbands all to themselves and do not stop for a second to think about the family they are married in. It is actually good to see a play which for a change focuses on the problems the boys’ parents and family have to put up with after their sons get married. These two episodes focused more on how Ayza has changed things in Hammad’s house and the way Hammad listens to everything his wife says and completely discredits his family because he is the one who is paying the bills. While there were scenes in these episodes which I wanted to fast forward but I must say there were many scenes that were highly relatable, to a surprising extent. For now these relatable happenings and scenes have to be the reason I continue to watch this play.

The rifts over the servants in both the houses, was something which I am sure many people can relate to. Aima wanting to quit working once she gets married is how many girls think. Although Aima has decided to leave her job once she gets married because she cannot manage her house and work at the same time but I do feel that she should also not work after marriage if she is going to marry someone like Hashim. Hashim is not the perfect husband-to-be in any way at all. He is the kind of person who would make his wife work so that he can get some easy money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a woman contributing financially after marriage but I think it should be the woman’s decisions whether she wants to work or not and Hashim does seem rather “greedy”. The way he mentioned the car yet again to his colleague even after Aima told him repeatedly that she was not going to ask her parents for the car goes to show his immature thinking and also that he will happily accept whatever he gets from Aima’s parents. By the way the 70 plus package and the pick and drop facility did remind me of Kashaf!

Although Akbari and Ayza tried their level best to ensure that Aima and Hashim do not get married but the proposal was finalized nevertheless. Hammad hardly ever asks Ayza to show his parents some respect and she is allowed to say whatever she wants to about anyone in the house, even daadi. Not only this but he stands up for his wife every time she asks him too and I have to say that I am really looking forward to the time when he realizes just how unfair he is being to his family. It was rather strange that Asghari let Ayza take Humnah out for shopping because she should have known that they will end up buying very expensive things. It is almost as if Hammad’s wedding has opened new avenues for his siblings and Humnah is making the most of it. Another thing that may have been very relatable for many was Humnah’s reaction when she found out that there maybe a joint wedding. I have seen many girls in particular who do not like this idea very much.

It was good to see Aima being happy about the baby who is on the way and the conversation that the two sisters had went to show that even after everything that Ayza has done, Aima holds nothing against her. At the same time Aima held her ground when Aima tries to talk her out of the marriage and that was another conversation which I really enjoyed.

Another extremely relatable scene for me had to be when Daadi was taking out old clothes out of the trunk to gift to Humanh’s in laws and when she said that they just don’t make these clothes anymore…how many times have I heard that before! Seriously this definitely happens and usually it is the mothers or the grandmothers who take out all their old clothes to give to the bride or her In Laws as if they are a treasure and would be considered a very special gift.

Overall, I found these two episodes interesting because of how real some of the scenes were. It really felt like I had seen all this happening somewhere before, around me. I could have enjoyed the play even more if there was a little less repetition and the focus was more on Aima and Ayza and the scenes with the grown ups and their issues were chopped up. I am especially not enjoying the Amna-Akbari confrontations/problems. Right now I am waiting to see what happens once Hashim and Aima get married because I think Aima will really have to work on Hashim in order to change him in a good way.

Resham’s Swaarangi – “The Melting Embers” To release Soon!

0

Seems like the future of Lollywood is changing. After a back to bacl success of Shoaib Mansoor’s Khuda k Liye and Bol, it is evident that the audience is interested to watch the targeted stories that hold a reflection of their cultures and the miseries that the nation is facing. The movie after Lamha-The Seedlings, that is predicted to do a  great business is Swaarangi- the Melting Embers which is a reflection of life of  woman of village.

The story-line is written by Phida Hussain, who is  also the director of the film. The screenplay has also been done Phidda Hussain himself with Mazhar Abbas. The movie has a good cast where every actor is unique and great with the role been played by him. The cast includes,  Resham, Ayub Khosa, Naveed Akbar, Waseem Manzoor,Zulfiqar Gullshahi, Aftab Nisar, Hamza Mushtaq, Shahzaib Johar.

The story revolves around a character Salma, been played by Resham, who is extremely worried and unhappy due to her Husband’s addiction to drug. Her husband Jamal (Naveed Akbar), is a truly addicted person who only loves his drugs and nothing else matters to him. Making Salma’s life more difficult, it is Zaryaab (Waseem Manzoor) who makes sure that Jamal doesn’t comes out it.

Behind the Screen on the set of Bulbulay!

0

Bulbulay is surely one of the most watched sitcoms in Pakistan where every house in town loves to go wild with the crazy family onscreen. Besides the fact that the cast is wisely chosen, it is the script that keeps the hidden beauty  going on. As mentioned in my previous post, Bulbulay seems to be like the CID of India which keeps the viewers entertained through its repeats telecast too.  What makes every episode of the show, a hit, is the phenomenal acting of Hina  Dilpazeer as Momo and Ayesha Omar as Khoobsoorat. This saas bahu chemistry is something that was never seen on screen for sure.

While I was going through the official page of the show, I found some interesting photos behind the scene on the set of Bulbulay, Here are they, Have a look!

The world is turning into a high-tech place where the imaginations of yesterday are becoming a reality of today. It was Hollywood initially that made the fiction look like a reality and gradually the trend was introduced in India too with Koi Mil Gaya, Kkrish, Robot and RaOne type of movies which were based on superhero idealogies and now it is Pakistan to catch up the race with its first Superhero Movie.

Kahi Unkahi Episode 16 – Interesting.

0

Ohkay so this was the role of Shahzeb for which was was seen every now & then in the drama. He was to be used as a puppet by his own sister. Drama has made some interesting developments but seem nothing less than a bollywood movie. All these scheming & plottings still seems unreal to me even though we have seen a lot of such happenings in numerous Pakistani dramas.

Zeeshan could’ve used the blackmailing to improve his career line or to get a promotion but he proved himself to be Anam’s brother first. His blackmailing was right & he dealt with Ansar exactly how he had been dealing with Zeeshan previously. I want to see more of Ansar & Mariam’s scenes because I think it’s a high time Mariam should start realizing that there is some serious issue with her husband because we don’t see him spending time with her & Mariam is too busy in her devar’s life than hers, which seems a bit out of the place, because newly wedded girls spend most of the time with their husbands in stead of involving themselves in the family flicks. Ansar; after his conversation with Zeeshan, shed off his tension at Mariam saying that she supported Sherry for what he did with Anam. I mean excuse me? When was Ansar even seen interested in what his wife was doing, or when did he even spend time with her, for which he came to such a conclusion. Ansar’s character is a big disappointment in this drama & Mariam’s attitude towards her husband is more than that.

Anam & Ayza’s plan hit the bullseye & they both succeeded in maligning the feelings Sherry had for Zoya. I couldn’t stop wondering why couldn’t Zoya open her mouth once & for all so that she could clarify her image? I guess this would go to Shahzeb once again & he will let Sherry know of the reality. Anam is acting like nothing but a loser. Where did her ego & all that dignity vanish, for which she was proud of? A guy who has dumped her in front of his & her whole family, she is still seen crawling towards him & trying to win him over once again? If she was a girl with an ounce of dignity, she wouldn’t have even paid heed to him for all that he has done.

Mr. Kamal finally got rid of Zoya who was nothing less than a fish-bone in his throat through out these years. I was happy to see her father supporting her even though Sherry spilled what he saw at Shahzeb’s place. It would’ve been much better if Zoya had said what actually happened but I am tired of seeing her panting in stead of uttering a word at such situations. She is someone who always takes a stand where she sees something wrong is happening but why was she quiet all this while, that too when the unfair was happening to her own-self?

The preview of the next episode seems al-right  nothing promising or something worth waiting for because we all can somehow predict what is going to happen. One good thing that might happen would be Shahzeb getting aware of the game Anam played with Zoya involving his sister. Let’s see where it goes now.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Daagh Episode 17- Injustice!

0

Finally, Murad and Aqeela’s wish came true as Deeba gave birth to not one, but two sons. Can things get better for Murad and worse for Umama? Umama had never wished ill for anyone despite everyone’s’ intolerable behavior towards her but she could not help but get sad after hearing news of the twin sons. She could not help but complain to God that if he wanted to give Murad sons then why not from her? I felt extremely bad for her and I got even sadder thinking that many women in our society face similar situations. It is extremely upsetting to see that despite being so educated people still have such orthodox views.

Unfortunately, there are still people in our society who discriminate between sons and daughter and Murad is shown as one such character. He is the most disappointing character in this show for me. At first, it seemed like he cared about his daughters but now we can see a totally different side of him. He did not even care when Umama told him that his daughter Fiza was unwell. Instead of taking her to the doctor, he chose to take Deeba to the doctor and then they were seen shopping for their unborn sons while Umama was worried about her daughter’s worsening condition. Umama was aware of the fact that she had been replaced in Murad’s life but she seemed satisfied to see that Murad still cared about his daughters, but now even that illusion is broken. Umama’s mother in law also showed no concern for her daughter. How indifferent can people get!

Murad’s change of attitude is very hard to digest. I cannot believe that this is the same Murad who loved Umama so much. Umama still never complains about Deeba’s demanding behavior and her servant like treatment towards her. Murad has just become a selfish person and only cares about his sons. He even puts up with the annoying and demanding attitude of Deeba for the sake of his sons. I literally clenched my teeth when he got angry and told Umama to stop competing with Deeba when she told him to keep his daughters’ Aqeeqa with Azhar and Waleed’s Aqeeqa. But I was really glad to see that Umama and her daughters did not go to the Aqeeqa as a form of retaliation. One of the best scenes of the episode for me was Atiqa and Umama’s conversation. Atiqa was trying to console Umama and was telling her to be patient and be thankful to God for whatever he has bestowed on you because there are a lot of people in the world who are not blessed with a single child. It is easy to advice someone to be patient in such a situation but very hard to implement. (rockstarjackets.com)

Umama is slowly realizing that she made a huge mistake giving Soha to Rehana because her sacrifice did not bear any fruit. Murad still got married again and she was not able to make a place in her mother in law’s heart either. Umama is still tolerating all the injustice done to her but for how long? She is on the verge of a mental breakdown and her anger and frustration is now visible to her daughters and it will also affect their lives. Will the situation ever get better for Umama?

Meher Bano was the star of this episode! I have no words after seeing her wonderful performance in this episode. The pain and emotional trauma was depicted perfectly by her. Her expressions, dialogue delivery and timing were just perfect!

Do keep watching this wonderful show!

Mera Pehla Pyar Episode 13 – 15 – Review

0

Sorry for the long gap but I’m back with Mera Pehla Pyar reviews. Episodes 13-15 had some stuff going on, especially the 10 last ten minutes of episode 15. We start with Episodes 13 and 14, in which Taha and family decide to take a vacation to take Hira’s mind off of the divorce and the neglect by her mother. Taha also invites Maira and Bilal on the trip. Bilal is actually happy and wants to go. I felt sorry for him when he said that he thought all men were like his father. Can’t imagine what such kids go through. They all actually end up going on vacation and having a good time. Maira and Taha seemed perfect as parents and were really acting like a couple. Bilal and Hira fought like siblings, making it an actual family. Coincidentally enough (or maybe not) Ayesha was also there to shoot for her movie and saw them together. She gets jealous and takes her anger out on the director (clearly she hasn’t grown up still). After they all return from vacation, one morning while driving Maira notices that she is being followed. She recognizes the guy to be someone who used to be friends with her ex-husband Irfan. She justifiably freaks our and calls Taha when she gets home. He tells her to pack up as her and Bilal are coming with his to his house, where he can protect them. Of course Maira agrees and they are off to Taha’s and episode 14 ends there.

Here’s my question…does that not sound weird? I know that his intentions are well and he even has the support of his parents. Actually it’s a very smooth transition, but honestly, does it sound normal that your girlfriends from 12 years ago is in trouble and you automatically invite her and her son to come stay at your house. Couldn’t they have stayed at a hotel nearby? I mean I realize why this was done, but to me it all seemed strange.

Episode 15 starts out with Taha requesting Hira to be nice to Bilal while these guys are there and of course Hira says ok, but these two are always fighting going forward. Once at the office Taha is distracted and can’t find a file. Zara reminds him that he took it home with him. He then tells Zara about what happened to Maira and that’s why he is distracted…and of course Maira over reacts. Apparently it is her birthday and she even wore a new suit that Taha didn’t notice…nor did he remember that it was her birthday. Dear Zara, take a bloody hin!!! This guy doesn’t even remember your birthday!! She even tells Ziad that she is in love with Taha and would never fall for someone like him (Ziad). Of course Ziad relays this to Maira who is now feeling insecure as she suddenly decides to leave Taha’s place. Aisa lagta hai sab pagal hain! Ziad also tells Taha this who then talks to Zara about this. OK, another thing I don’t get. In most of their scenes, Taha and Zara are always in the privacy of his office, but today when Taha rejects Zara and they are having that conversation, why are they standing in the middle of the hall way? Of course after Taha is ‘samjhaeing’ Zara, she understands and says yes to Ziad.

The last 10 minutes of episode 15 were probably the most important. Zara says yes to Ziad, Hira and Bial on their own decides to never fight again as they will miss each other if Bilal leaves, and last but obviously not the least, Taha proposes to Maira.

Mera Pehla Pyar began with such promise…it was fresh, it kept me waiting each week to find out what happens, but somehow the story seemed to have gotten lost in the last few episodes and came back in the last 10 minutes of episode 15. Acting wise, no complaints at all (although I could have done without seeing Maira sleeping with so much make-up even in so much tension). The script sometimes is fantastic and other times it feels like someone completely different has written some parts, and that is the biggest problem. No consistency. Lets see what happens in episode 16.

Latest Clicks from the PhotoShoot of Tanhai(HUM TV)

0

February seems to be  happening month for Hum TV as after a couple of successful projects, the channel is now all set with the new projects to go on air this month. As seen the promo of Tanhai, it is Gohar Mumtaz, A singer and Guitarist from Jal-The Band, who is making his debut as an actor. The drama enjoys a popular cast including Ayesha Omer and Azfar Rehman.

The drama is based on the same trio, which is a must to have feature in all the dramas, but what makes it appealing enough to follow is the fact that it has been shoot pretty well. According to the official page of the drama, here are the latest photos of the celebrities for the promotion of the serial. Have a look!

The photos seem really interesting, though they reveal pretty less about the story. Lets see how far this serial goes in terms of TRPs.

My Thoughts On Hum TV’s Nominations For Viewer’s Choice Awards

0

All of you must know by now that this year Hum TV has decided to have its own award function, the nominations for the viewer’s choice award have been made public. Nida already mentioned in her post that out of 32 categories, seven are for the viewer’s to decide who will bag an award. Since my primary interest is in dramas only so I want to share with all of you how I felt about the nominations for viewer’s choice related to the drama industry. First of all lets discuss the nominations for best drama. The nominations are

Best Drama

Maat

Shehr-e-Zaat

Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar

Yahan Pyar Nahi Hai

Roshan Sitara

Bari Apa

Why are plays like Roshan Sitara and Mere Qatil Mere Dildar there and not Hamsafar, Durr-e-Shehwar or Bilquees Kaur? Hamsafar may have been criticized by the critics for its cliché storyline and the stereotyped characters but there is no denying the fact that it was one of the most popular dramas of its time. Hamsafar was not only popular in Pakistan but also in other countries where people watch Pakistani dramas.
Durr-e-Shehwar had amazing dialogues, the direction was flawless, the underlying message was in line with our social norms and the acting was top notch, but it almost seems like Durr-e-Shehwar has been left out on purpose, although I see no reason for it except that two of Umera Ahmed’s plays have been nominated already so they did not want to nominate a third one. Bilquess Kaur is another play that deserved to be nominated much more than a drama like Roshan Sitara in particular that was a complete flop because the storyline totally went haywire.

Now take a look at these nominations

Best Actor Female

Mehwish Hayat For Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar

Saba Qamar For Maat

Mahira Khan For Shehrzaat

Sania Saaed For Zard Mausam

Sanam Baloch For Roshan Sitara

Savera Nadeem For Bari Apa

I was definitely expecting that Bushra Ansari would be nominated for Bilquees Kaur but like Durr-e-Shehwar, Bilquees Kaur has also been left out of the nominations although both the plays were incredibly popular among public and these are after all nominations for viewer’s choice! Sanam Baloch has been nominated for Roshan Sitara and not Durr-e-Shehwar, which is somewhat unfair because had she been nominated for Durr-e-Shehwar she had a far greater chance of winning this award. I am not entirely happy with Mehwish Hayat’s nomination too because I think Syra Yusef’s and Sadia Imam’s performances were far more powerful in Bilquees Kaur.

Here is the next category

Best Actor Male

Ahsan Khan For Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar

Adnan Siddiqui For Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar

Noman Ejaz For Bari Apa

Mikaal Zulfiqar For Shehrzaat

Imran Aslam For Sanjha

Faisal Rehmaan For Zard Mausam

Ahsan Khan for Mere Qatil Mere Dildar and not Bilquees Kaur? Mikaal Zulfiqar for Shehr-e-Zaat and not Durr-e-Shehwar? So is Durr-e-Shehwar not going to be nominated in any category and neither is Bilquees Kaur? I am sure many of the viewer’s would have much rather chosen their favorites out of these two plays than any other play.

The last drama related category in Viewer’s Choice is

Best On-screen Couple

Fawad Khan & Mahira Khan For Humsafar

Mikaal Zulfiqar & Mahira Khan For Shehrzaat

Ahsan Khan & Mehwish Hayat For Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar

I may sound like a die hard Durr-e-Shehwar fan but in my opinion Mikaal Zulfiqar and Sanam Baloch deserved to be in this category too. And I would much rather have the option of voting for Ahsan Khan and Syra Yusef for Bilquees Kaur rather than Ahsan Khan and Mehwish Hayat.

These were just some random thoughts about the nominations. What do you people think about these nominations? I think Durr-e-Shehwar, Bilquees Kaur and Hamsafar deserved a little more recognition.

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 4 – Tragedy Strikes!

0

Another beautiful episode! This show is attracting me like a magnet because of its different concept and brilliant depiction. The director Sohail Javed has done a very good job and Mohib and Saba’s performance is worth an applause! They fit perfectly in Shayan and Irfa’s shoes. Whoever casted them did a wonderful job! And last but not the least; Maha Malik’s script is brilliant and unique!

We saw a tragic incident in this episode, the loss of an important person in both Shayan and Irfa’s life. Shayan’s mothers’ death shook both their lives and they sought comfort in each other. But unfortunately, the world never ceases to talk and people objected about Shayan and Irfa staying together in one house. And since Irfa’s wedding was just a few days away she decided to shift to a hostel.

Shayan realized how important Irfa is in his life when he left her at the hostel. He tried to stop her from going but Irfa refused. His dialogue about how sad and upset he was after she left his house showed how much he cares about her. His words ‘Itni takleef to mujhe Ammi ko dafnane mein nahi huwi jitni tumhe chor ke aani mein huwi’ shows his dependence on her. I still do not understand why he is still not agreeing to get married to her. He cares a lot about her and is attached to her the most but still all he cares about is the external beauty! He is not happy to see her with her fiancé and tries to convince her not to get married to someone who is not compatible to her. I loved the scene when her bubble burst and she straight forwardly told him that she loves him a lot but cannot beg for his love as she still has her self respect intact and prefers to get married to someone who would appreciate her. Way to go Irfa!

The death of Shayan’s mother has made Shayan look at life from a different perspective. His attitude towards life has changed and he is no longer seen as a care free person. Shayan even sold his precious paintings to a renowned artist who would forge it and put his own signature and sell the paintings. Shayan was strictly against this but made an exception for Irfa so that he can get the money for Irfa’s wedding.

What a turn of events! As soon as Mahjabeen and her mother saw that Shayan’s paintings are being sold at a very good price, they decided to trap him once again. Apparently, the guy who sent the Dubai proposal turned out to be a fraud and Mahjabeen is trying to win over Shayan again. How pathetic! Shayan is so afraid of his loneliness that he is actually considering getting married to Mahjabeen. Even Irfa tells him to accept the proposal as she knows he cannot live in isolation. Irfa knows him in and out and is aware of the fact that he needs a companion whom he can talk to and someone who can take care of him.

The most hilarious scene of the episode was when Irfa’s fiancé came to meet her. Poor guy kept on asking her to go out with him at least once but he only got Irfa’s straight forward refusal. I could not help but pity him!

On the whole, it was a very enjoyable episode. I hope this show does not lose its fast pace and we get to see more development in the story. Will Shayan finally agree to marry Irfa?

Keep watching to find out!

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 17 – Pretty Slow!

0

It is about time this show ends! It has been dragging for the past few weeks and has completely lost its charm. I fail to understand how Meesha can trust a stranger and go along with him! I liked the show because of its light heartiness and a refreshing concept, but the introduction of the villain Shah Baba has made the story more dramatic. It looks more like a suspense thriller now!

Meesha and Mayer scenes were hilarious! Mayer’s character is the most disappointing character in the show. Wasn’t he supposed to be the Prince Charming? Instead he has turned out be a rich, spoiled brat who complains about everything and instead of taking care of Meesha when they were stuck at the station, he expected Meesha to look after him. He expected Meesha to sort out all the problems as he was too fragile to do anything. Meesha is also in no mood to forgive him for the way he treated her and finally takes her revenge by giving him a tight slap! Her attitude towards him is cold and she leaves no opportunity to taunt him. Way to go Meesha! It was the best scene of the episode for me! Maya Ali has done a very god job and Osman Khalid Butt’s expressions were extremely comical!

Farjad finally got the guts to free Aimee and the duo were seeing running in the forest. Aimee kept on complaining that she was hungry and her wonderful hairstyle made me stare at her with a look of fascination in my eyes. I cannot believe someone can carry such a hairstyle… I mean hair disaster so well! Why is Aimee so cute? Warda Butt has become one of my favorite comedy actors who can never fail to make you laugh. She has also given a brilliant performance in her other show, Ghaoo where she has played the role of a girl who is mentally challenged. She does not seem like a new comer from any angle as she seems so comfortable in front of the camera.

According to Mayer ‘Meesha has changed’. He does not like the change in Meesha as he does not give him importance anymore. He thinks that she has become proud after getting to know that she belongs to a rich family and now does not consider him worthy of herself. You were not worthy of Meesha before either Mayer! Someone like Zaini is the perfect match for you. I hope they get back together and live Happily Never After! Shah Baba has also started playing his games and is trying to convince Meesha to leave Mayer as he is not worthy of her anymore. I hope Meesha leaves Mayer soon!

Roman has come to Meesha’s’ rescue! After hearing everything from Dado, he goes after Meesha to save her from Shah Baba’s evil plans. Roman also helps Aimee and Farjad when they were running from Shah Baba. He helps them by telling them a place to hide. Roman has become the savior of so many people. I hope Meesha finally sees what a wonderful person he is!

The preview for the next episode seems interesting. Roman finally manages to get into Shah Baba’s house. I am waiting for next week now! I hope we get to see a fast paced episode next week and the show is not dragged for more than one or two more episodes. It will be interesting to watch how Roman saves Meesha from Shah Baba.
Keep watching the show!

Bari Appa Last Episode – The End!

0

So finally the last episode of Bari Appa hit our screens last night. It was a complete package but left me feeling heart-broken, no doubt they justified each & everything but I can’t help feel sorry for the main character. I must say that the dialogues were written beyond perfection. At almost each & every scene I kept on thinking how great the dialogues were & how simply such deep feelings were conveyed by the characters.

In this episode I loved all the conversations, be it of Zubaida-Ghazanfar, Firdous-Ghazanfar, Neelam-Sharmeen & in the end that of Farmaan & Zubaida’s. Each and every conversation had so much going on but was executed perfectly. So many dialogues caught my attention & the best one was ‘Qayamat k anay mai aik lamha bhi bohat hota hai’.

Now beginning from the first scene of the episode, Firdous took a right decision in talking to Ghazanfar on her own. No doubt she was worried about their son but their argument lead to their patch up. One thing for sure was commendable about Firdous that even though she thought she had lost her marriage, her husband, her home but still she was worried about their son & how he was being treated by his father. That took Ghazanfar by surprise & he decided to let go of his ego & take Firdous home. All the things that Ghazanfar said to Firdous in order to convince her were so positive & good to listen to. ‘Girra hua nahi, aam insaan se uncha samjha hai, isi liye keh raha hoon ghar chalo’. All such dialogues that Ghazanfar said to Firdous were much needed because she had never given him any reason or chance to have second thoughts about her being his wife. She was always loyal & her life revolved around her husband & their son, so she needed such words from her husband.

Most of the conversations weren’t told & were discussed in between the two characters. Like Neelam’s meeting with Zubaida, Zubaida’s decision which she told to Sharmeen after Fajr & Essa’s confession in front of Adeel, all such conversations were just told through the dialogues & left viewers wondering what they actually spoke about, but it was justified given the time & considering the end of the serial. Otherwise, it would’ve gotten repetitive & would’ve dragged the whole situation because these were the scenes that we had already seen in the previous episodes.

Farmaan left a mark in the previous episode but then once again he became like a puppet who was willing to do everything that Zubaida would suggest. At one point, he even mentioned leaving Neelam which was a downer because she doesn’t deserve to be used as a scapegoat. Coming to Zubaida & Farman’s conversation, I couldn’t stop wondering how fool Zubaida was & how blindfolded she was due to her one-sided first love. All this while, when she was telling Farmaan about her feelings for Ghazanfar, I felt where has her dignity gone & that ego for which she could sacrifice everything? The flash back & all those scenes of reminiscence were worth a laugh & I couldn’t resist myself because Zubaida looked like someone with no sanity. No doubt, I do blame Ghazanfar for being too sweet & at some point flirtatious with her but then like he said he did all that as a token of sympathy, it was Zubaida herself who mistook his feelings all this while & saw what she wanted to see.

How easily she confessed to Ghazanfar without even thinking for a moment that she was still married to Farmaan. Ghazanfar’s assurance of love & care to Firdous reached to a certain level after he confessed everything in front of Zubaida about how he felt for Firdous & how highly he thinks of her. After that scene I felt Ghanzafar’s silence through out was broken but at a perfect time. He gave Zubaida a reality check & the way Zubaida flipped like a coin was so like her. At that moment I was like this is what Zubaida was good at, scheming & covering herself even when she had nothing left in her hand.

& finally talking about the last scene, once again Farman did what was necessary & supported Neelam because all this while she stood by him & thank God he realized it & mentioned it in front of Zubaida. One doubtful thing was that in the previous episode Farman gave Zubaida only one divorce & now when she came back he mentioned that we can not reconcile as I’ve divorced you. This was a thought provoking mistake because I find it a bit odd that how easily they can manipulate the rules & regulations that have been set in regards to the couple getting divorced.

Essa-Sharmeen got back together, there was no scene of Zubaida’s family too. I would’ve loved to see them having a say on Firdous’s reconciliation with her husband or any other scene of them. & I feel I wouldn’t do justice if I do not mention Riffat here. The drama started with her being a strong supporting role but as the drama progressed her role got sub-sided & overshadowed & by the end it was totally non-existent. All this while she was just seen sitting on a sofa without having much to say about anything. I think they shouldn’t have made her such a low profile as the drama was progressing.

& now last thing from my side would be about Zubaida. I know she was dominant, hard-to-be-with kind of a wife, did not love her husband, had her first love etched in her heart but in the end I felt really sorry for her seeing her ending up like this. Why is it that a man can not handle a strong-headed female? Why is it that a man always wants sati-savitri-gungi type of a wife to live a happy life with? Why is it that a woman needs to make all the sacrifices & if she fails the man can easily walk through her like a doormat & start his own life? Why is it that when a woman openly confesses that she loves someone else (after the husband has deceived her) the husband can not tolerate? No doubt Neelam’s was a positive character but Farman should not have let go of Zubaida because it was Farman who deceived his first wife & got married to Neelam without seeking permission of his wife. Zubaida no doubt deep inside loved Ghazanfar but never took any step that would hurt her husband or her family but it was Farmaan who drove her to this situation. I know many might not agree but when Farman spent 25 years acting according to how Zubaida wanted & all this while he knew that Zubaida had Ghazanfar in her heart, so he could have forgiven this bit of her mistake too. I know she took a very big step & stepped out of the house but why did Farman beg her to stay? Either he should have stood by his decision when he gave her a divorce so that she wouldn’t have come back or he shouldn’t have begged her to stay. I actually disliked Zubaida but after the end I feel absolutely sorry for her because why is it always that a man can not handle a head-strong woman who makes her own decisions? By saying this I am not approving of her going out of the house to be with Ghazanfar but all the other things she did for Farman are worth a consideration.

Anyhow, I feel that Hum TV should for sure conduct a show to appreciate the whole team & should dedicate a show to Bari Appa because it had so much to offer, so much originality & the best of the best characters performed by best actors who will remain with us in our memories for a long long time. We always see Hum TV conducting shows after the most-hyped programs end like Humsafar & Shehr-e-Zaat, so I feel this project named Bari Appa deserves that much of an acknowledgement from the channel too. I thank the whole team starting from the writer to the director to the actors for making this serial what is it today. Going to miss it for sure.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.
