Honor Killing is a British Indian film starring British, Indian and Pakistani artists. The film covers the sensitive issue of Honor Killing which is a prevailing issue in South Asia like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan. A large South Asian community is now active part of British society, where cases of honor killing are regularly reported every year.

Honor Killing also stars Pakistani artists like Zara Sheikh and Javed Sheikh. Zara Sheikh has played the role of a British Pakistani girl who loves and Indian boy. The film has already been released in UK and India last year (2014).

The film was due to release in Pakistan last week (27th February 2015) but it was not screened after conflicting decisions by two different censor boards of our country. The federal censor board refused to issue a censor certificate, however Sindh Censor Board issued a censor certificate for the film. The story not finishes over here, as Federal Censor board has revoked the powers of provincial censor boards after this decision of Sindh censor board. As per new rules now only Federal Censor Board can issue the censor certificates to foreign films.

It is the second film banned this year by a censor board, previously Indian film BABY was banned by Sindh Censor Board.

Before 2011 there was only one federal censor board in Pakistan. However after 18th Amendment in the constitution in 2011 the duty is shifted to provinces. As per constitution each province can have its own censor board.However currently only Punjab and Sindh have established their censor boards. There is no cinema functioning in the province of Balochistan whereas Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is yet to setup its censor board. The federal censor board has jurisdiction over federal capital Islamabad, Azad Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, FATA and cantonment areas in various cities. Also since Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is yet to setup its own censor board, so it is currently served by Federal Censor Board.

In past the decisions of various censor boards sometimes negate others decision as well. In 2014 a Bollywood film Ragini MMS2 was denied censor certificate by Punjab Censor Board. However Sindh censor board and Federal board allowed its screening under Adult censor certificate. It led to an interesting situation as the film was not allowed to release in parts of Punjab controlled by local bodies, but cinemas in cantonment areas can release the film as the cantonment area were under the jurisdiction of Federal Censor Board.

I have few limits when it comes to working in Bollywood which I will never cross. Being a Pakistani I will never perform a kiss scene or a bold scene on silver screen. These are the words of Ali Zafar while talking to BBC Urdu service recently.

Ali told, whether he gets work or not, he will stand by his limits. ‘Salman Khan is a super star despite never an on screen kiss scene’ argues Ali. But his film London, Paris, Newyork has a kiss scene of Ali, so what he has to say on this?

As per Ali that kiss was necessary, but it was performed by his body double int he film.

Ali is a die hard fan of Indian artist Amitabh Bachan. Morning shows are the most-watched segments on television. Many ladies watch them while doing their household chores. They can learn new recipes, tips to enhance beauty, benefits of natural products and many more just by watching a morning show. Now, every channel has its own morning show segment and the best host is hired to improve their show’s rating. 

On every special event like Ramzan, Defence Day, Eid, etc, set of morning shows are decorated accordingly. On Eid special, guests are invited to celebrate their eid with them and the audience. But this time, PEMRA has requested news channels not to air re-recorded or live special programs on Eid-ul-Adha in solidarity with Kashmir. 

According to electronic media regulatory, the airing of festive segments can hurt sentiments of not only our nation but also of the Kashmiri brethren. Therefore, the day will be celebrated with simplicity as a religious event. 

PEMRA announced that 14 August will also be observed in solidarity day with brave Kashmiris. Whereas 15 August will be observed as black day and the national flag will fly at half-mast. They even requested media to turn their logos black and white to highlight Indian atrocities in India occupied Kashmir.

Usman Mukhtar recently appeared in a podcast with a Vlogger and his friend , where he told people about his struggles. He said no body sees the struggle but success. He said I was a 130 Kg guy and a Binge eater ,I used to remain in my room and it was difficult for me to face the world. I was coping up with depression. People used to think a lot of things are bothering me  but I knew inside that nothing is bothering me in real , it just became life style for no reason. I thought I’d never lose that 130 kg weight.

He said success wasn’t easy to me I worked a lot as a film maker, director and Director of Photography but till janan no one knew me , then I came into commercial work and now after Anaa people have started to know me.  He said I thank people who love me but I feel I have a long way to go.

Talking about the controversy of Mohsin Abbas Haider he said that
“I had heard a lot about Mohsin Abbas but you cannot believe in the things that you hear but the day you raise hand on a women then it is over.  It shows the character of a man if you hit a woman you are not a man”.

He has said it was Naimal who has forced me to do Anaa together, we were friends before Anaa.

He has said Sara Khan is great actress , she is humble and decent and I haven’t seen such decent girl before in the industry.

He said I thank and love all who supported me in Anaa and its goodbye to Altamash and moving on to other projects.

One of Pakistan’s heartthrobs, Ali Zafar was reported to be replaced with Raj Bhasin (the Karan Rastogi of film Mardaani) in Gauri Shinde’s upcoming film Dear Zindagi starring Alia Bhatt and Shahrukh Khan. Due to political issues between Pakistan and India, the singer of Madhubala was sent back to Pakistan.

The good news for all the Ali Zafar fans is that Ali Zafar is no longer being replaced in the film by Gauri Shinde.

The well-known actress of Pakistan appeared in an interview with Wajahat Rauf where the host asked her, “Tell the names of three persons other than me who are ‘virgin’.”

She smiled and replied after thinking a lot, “It’s very difficult to say. No one is a virgin in the Pakistan industry.”

During the interview, she further talked about people on social media believe that I wake up every morning use injections and get pretty.

Sarwat said, “Apparently I wake up every morning and get pretty after using injections.”

She also talked about whitening injections and said, “They are ‘overrated’. It’s actually a myth that they work. Actresses use whitening creams to get pretty.”

“These injections give you harm than to glow or white your skin,” she added.

Bulbul-e-Hind (Nightingale of India) Lata Mangeshkar the legendary voice of indian sub-continent has turned 85 few days ago. Talking to reporter Khalid Mahmood of Urdu Daily Jang, Lata told that no one has invited her to visit Pakistan in past twenty-six years. “It is an irony that I have never visited Pakistan. I eagerly look forward to visiting Pakistan.” Lata further told once she was scheduled to tour Pakistan however it was cancelled just one day before departing to Pakistan. As per Lata, under General Ziaul Haq (former dictator who ruled from 1977-1988) government a cultural organization in Pakistan arranged the visit, however it was cancelled at the very last moment. As per Lata she will happily accept any formal invitation to visit Pakistan.

Lata has a strong bonding with Madam Noor Jehan another legendary artist of Indian sub-continent who migrated to Pakistan after partition in 1947. She was in contact with Madam Noor Jehan till her death in 2000. Lata is amazed that a website consisting of her early songs is prepared and operated from Lahore, Pakistan.

He is best known for portraying the character of Bhola that won the hearts of people, and Imran got immense acknowledgment from everywhere. Imran is the most humble actor who knows how to impress people with his simplicity and talent. He is likewise a fine writer who has just started wring dramas.

Imran Ashraf got married to Kiran Ashfaq in 2018. The couple is blessed with a baby boy, Roham Ashraf.

 Many famous celebrities are criticized many times for different reasons. Imran Ashraf is one of the most humble person who handles the haters in his own way. He always writes something good in reply to the bad comments given by people. 

Recently Imran shared a picture on his instagram account with Humayun Saeed and Iqrar-ul-Hassan, and someone started criticizing on his picture. This is the way Imran Ashraf replied to his comment in a very good manner.

Wajahat Rauf is also among the filmmakers who started making films and rebuilding the film industry once again. The producer/director has made two movies, the road trip comedies Karachi Se Lahore and Karachi Se Lahore 2. He has also ventured into the world of web series with his latest venture Enaaya starring Mehwish Hayat, Azfar Rehman, Faryal Mehmood and Asad Siddiqui. Meanwhile, the director recently posted a picture of both Zara Noor Abbas and Mehwish Hayat announcing his third film whose title is not yet announced.

The director has previously talked about making Karachi Se Lahore 3 which was put on hold. However, now he has announced that the third instalment is never happening. He was talking to Instep where he confirmed that there will be no third film in the series since he does not want to become repetitive:

“We tried giving it a shot; we had the script and the cast but I felt it was repetitive, something we’ve seen before. I didn’t want people to feel like they’re watching my last two films again, with the same characters, plot twists, I felt like I needed more than that, so I had another story with me for over a year now and I wrote its dialogues immediately. Mehwish read it, and felt it was good stuff. My wife, Shazia read it and felt it was the right mix of comedy, emotion and had a message too. So with such positive feedback, I went ahead with it.”

The third film will release this year!

Pakistani Film Industry is flourishing both in the terms of content as well as business. Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha are the two most important occasions when Pakistani films do decent business. Indian films have been the sole source of entertainment for many years till Pakistani cinema revived. Indian films still hinder the business of Pakistani films. Taking this into account, The Ministry of Information has finally taken a good step. The screening of Indian films has been restricted on the occasions of Eid. No Indian film will be screened from two days prior Eid to two weeks after the auspicious occasion. This is a great step as it will give Pakistani movies a lot more chance to flourish in the market. This is the order from the ministry:

Saat Din Mohabbat In and Wajood are releasing on Eid and Parwaz Hai Junoon has been postponed. However after the order Salman Khan’s Race 3 will not be screened!

Eid ul Adha has been a constant slot for Humayun Saeed for quite some years now. The actor has been releasing his film every year on Bari Eid and his films have been doing extremely well. The trend started with the release of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani. Well, Humayun Saeed has already announced that his next film Love You Jatta is in the pipelines and it was a sure shot assumption that it will release on Eid ul Adha but we have seen that the actor is busy with PSL right now and there have been no announcements regarding the cast.

Well, the confusion is cleared and Love You Jatt is still in the finalization phase with work being done on its script. The other cast has not been finalized either and Humayun Saeed has no plans to release Love You Jatt this Eid ul Adha.

The film will release this year but in some later months and Humayun is busy with his upcoming drama Mere Paas Tum Ho right now. So, there will be no Humayun Saeed this Eid ul Adha thus making Parey Hutt Love the only confirmed huge release for Bari Eid!

The Presidential award winner and a famous TV and radio artist Noshaba Bibi, on Monday made an appeal to higher official of PTV to help her in providing the treatment for her son who is suffering from kidney failure.

In a news conference Noshaba shared that her son is 29 and she has no money left to further continue his treatment .

Noshaba said , “I started my career as an artiste from PTV in 1979, performing in different Pashtu, Hindko and Urdu plays, and due to my best performances and services I was awarded the presidential award. I served for long time and the viewers and listeners have much reverence for me for my work.”

She shared that the money she earned throughout her career she constructed a house worth of rupees six million. She said, “Now, I have sold the house for the sake of my son’s treatment.” Noshaba Bibi shared that she is spending on her ill so n from one and a half and now she is out of funds.

The actress said that she has asked for help from both the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa culture department and PTV general manager, but both the officials refused saying they could help he in case if she was ill but can not help her son. She said the KP health minister had also phoned her and assured for her son’s free medical treatment, but to no avail.

She said as her husband has died and the entire responsibility is now on her shoulders.
She said, “I never begged in my whole life but today I am compelled for my son’s life to stretch hands before others, especially to well-off people.”

I wonder we can have face- off concerts amongst our musicians for fun, lavish bridal and baby showers, birthday parties but why don’t the celebrities join hands with each other and conduct fund raising for Noshaba Bibi’ son, Government or Government officials won’t play there role like always but why don’t the individuals belonging to same profession help the lady in so much trouble.

Pakistani Actress,VJ and host Mahira Khan is happy working in her own country. She said that its not an actor that makes a drama successful; Its story of drama and drama itself that makes an artist famous and successful. People still recognize me with the roles I performed.

I love it when people praise me for my work and suggest me which roles I should perform in future.She further declared that neither did I get any offer for any drama or movie from neighboring country nor am I interested in working there as I already have so many work to do in my country. She said my talent is property of my country so I would want it be used here rather than for other countries.

Mahira’s graph seemed to increasing with every role she performed. We have so many expectations from her upcoming drama Bin Roye Ansu too.

Censor Board has refused to issue clearance to Bollywood’s Bangistan which is due to release on 7th August 2015.  The film is the story of the mission of two suicide bombers one each from the extremist elements of two major religions of India.

The producer of the film in a statement to Times of India has expressed disappointment over this decision of Pakistan censor board, saying the decision is immature and is made merely on the trailer of the film. The actual content of this film is quite different from what is depicted in the trailer. (Meta-Calculator)

This year censor board has refused to issue clearance to few Bollywood films like Baby in February 2015. Such decision of censor board halts the release of the banned Bollywood film in cinemas. However pirated copies of all such banned film are openly aired on local cable networks without any restrictions. All such films are also openly available on DVD as well.

Bollywood film Baby due to release in Pakistan on 23rd January has failed to get the censor certificate means this film is denied screening. Thus the film will not release in theaters in Pakistan.

The film also stars veteran artist Rasheed Naaz as well as Mikaal Zulfiqaar in supporting roles. Famous Bollywood artist Akshay Kumar is in the lead role.

The major reason to ban a Bollywood film is content against Pakistan or Muslims. There are few exceptions as well like one film Raanjhana (2013) was banned as it featured romance of a Muslim Girl with a Non-muslim boy.

As per constitution each province can have its own censor board.However currently only Punjab and Sindh have established their censor boards.  There is no cinema functioning in the province of Balochistan whereas Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is yet to setup its censor board.

The decisions of various censor boards sometimes negate others decision as well. In 2014 a Bollywood film Ragini MMS2 was denied censor certificate by Punjab Censor Board. However Sindh censor board and Federal board allowed its screening under Adult censor certificate. It led to an interesting situation as the film was not allowed to release in parts of Punjab controlled by local bodies, but cinemas in cantonment areas can release the film. As the cantonment area falls under the jurisdiction of Federal Censor Board.

The political unrest between both the countries Pakistan and India has scared the Indian director Nitin Kakkar. As he is now denying that he has not signed Fawad Khan for his next film which is being produced under the banner of Salman Khan Films.

The Indian Express has revealed that Nitin Kakkar said, “I haven’t signed Fawad. I have read the news in papers which is surprising because I haven’t signed Fawad yet. I am doing a film for Salman Khan’s production and B.R. Chopra’s co-production. We are meeting several actors. Nothing has been signed yet or put to paper yet.”

The most interesting thing to be noted is that many Papers published that Nitin is engaging Fawad for his upcoming project and Nitin did not made any comment immediately that it is not true. But now as things has got worse between the two countries Nitin has clearly refused that he has not taken Fawad in the film.

When Nitin was asked that Papers are saying opposite to what he is saying, Nitin said, “Someone over enthusiastic wrote that. I am not making any urban love story with Fawad Khan. Nothing like that. We are still in the process of casting actors. Nothing concrete yet. And as soon as someone is signed, we will also announce. Right now speculations are being made.”
