Haider Ali is a young and emerging Pakistani cricketer known for his excellent batting skills. He made his international debut for Pakistan in 2020 and has since played in 2 ODIs and 35 T20Is for the national side. Recently, the 24-year-old batter was on a tour to the UK as a senior player with Pakistan’s A side. The Pakistan Shaheens’ UK tour began on July 17 and continued until August 6, featuring two three-day games and three ODIs. The Pakistani side drew the Test matches and won the ODI series.
During the Pakistan team’s UK tour, Haider Ali was booked on charges of alleged sexual assault. According to reports, the 24-year-old player is facing rape allegations and was arrested in Manchester for three days before being released on bail. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that they received a report of an alleged rape and that investigations are currently underway. The PCB has assured its full support to UK police and stated that it fully respects the legal procedures of the United Kingdom, acknowledging the importance of the investigation. Even today the best of our actors are seen quoting how their skills were polished and how much they learned during the PTV era. We excelled in all forms of entertainment; be it drama, tragedy, action or COMEDY. Comedy is a genre loved by all. In today’s times when there is extremism and gloominess everywhere comedy can prove to be an even greater escape from all the sadness and an opportunity to feel fresh.
Pakistanis have known the gist of comedy from very start. PTV has produced some evergreen comedies that will forever be loved. Some examples are Alif Noon, Sona Chandi and Andhera Ujala. These shows were not mere comedies with cheap material but had impressive scripts and lessons for the masses. They made the actors in them stars and they are still loved by the masses. Like who can forget Irfan Khoosat’s ‘Oye Allah dittay” from Andhera Ujala . The show was not a mere comedy. It showed what our police go through and gave us an insight on the wrong doings occurring in our society. It was beautiful, emotional and hilarious. It was comedy with a message.
Sona Chandi made people realize everyday problems and showcased husband wife relationship beautifully. Alif Noon had a brand of its own. The show made Actor Rafi Khawar popularly known as Nanha a film star and he will always be remembered as one of the best comedians of the Pakistani entertainment industry. Talking about films Munawar Zareef’s style of comedy and even his movies were copied across the border and were huge successes making people laugh left and right.
But after all this glory like every other entertainment sphere comedy also fell into a dump and unfortunately we still have not discovered back our comedy streak and all we are left with are shows like Halka na lo, Dugdugi, Bulbulay and Qudusi sahab ki bewa. Let me sum up what is wrong with these shows:
The Script:
First and foremost thing makers of these shows need to understand a show might be comedy but it NEEDS A SCRIPT. It is not tolerable for audiences to see people running around here and there with no story at all. Best example of this are shows starring Barkat and Uzmi. People are laughing, running and looking stupid for no reason at all and they call it a comedy show. The makers desperately need to take some inspiration from the old shows and realize a script is necessary to run a show.
Unnecessary Vulgarity:
Our country has progressed a lot and we are far more modern from older times. From celebrity dresses to themes of our dramas and films everything has moved ahead but still many things which were inappropriate are still inappropriate and will remain as such. Does anyone remember when Momo was pregnant with Sona and Khoobsurat with Chandi in Bulbulay. The show is loved by people and I know babies are born every day and it is a natural process but believe me it is not a very beautiful sight when your 6 year old comes running to tell you “Woh Momo Maa banne wali hai na.” Imagine the horror as the biggest audiences of this show are children. Talking about films the only comedy left there is “Ooper dekhoonga to neechay se chirya ura do ge” from Wrong No.; let me remind you a small boy is saying this to “Ye aik banday ka kaam nahin hai” of Mehrunisa V Lub U and showing gayism in JPNA. The question to the makers is Do they really think this is comedy?
Fixed Actors:
Fixed actors are seen in sitcoms and comedy shows. Gone are the days of Family Front and Shashlik when actors like Waseem Abbas, Saba Hameed and Nadia Afghan used to do comedies. Only some fixed actors are seen doing comedy shows these days like Nabeel, Barkat, Uzmi, Mahmood Sahab and some more. The dilemma of fixed casting has made comedy confined to certain people and shows limiting the impact this genre can otherwise have.
So from glory of Alif Noon to unnecessary laughing of Mr. Shamim and Halka na lo our comedy has really gone from best to worst. We definitely need a lot of improvement and seeing the progress of the industry one should remain hopeful that one day the comedy will rise from sastay jokes and dheeli hassi to actual punch lines and comic scripts. But we will have to suffer till the day comes!

After restricting the intake of food items and smoking in Ramazan, the ministry has now recommended the closure of cinema houses all over the country.
Earlier, the committee suggested to close cinema houses for three hours during seher and three hours after Iftar during Ramazan. Now, the Minister of State for Religious Affairs, Pir Amin Ul Hansat Shah has asked to close the cinemas at all times during the whole month of Ramazan in Pakistan.
Those who violate the Ehtram-e-Ramazan Bill, will be fined RS 50,000 or more.
Post the India Pakistan conflict, media associations of both countries decided to ban each other’s content. India banned Pakistani artists and dramas where as, Pakistani cinema owners imposed ban on Bollywood films. However, Pakistani cinema owners are now all set to lift the ban on Indian films.
In conversation with The Express Tribune on Saturday, Chairman Film Exhibitors Association Zoraiz Lashari confirmed that cinema owners would begin screening Indian films across Pakistan from December 19 (Monday). “Cinema business has been hit immensely and all stakeholders felt it was the right time to begin screening Indian films. It was always a self imposed suspension, not a ban. So I’ll be releasing Freaky Ali in our cinemas and other cinema owners will follow suit,” said Lashari
“A big media group and film exhibitors/distributors in India are trying to release Dungal in Pakistan. They are testing public sentiments and also the government’s reaction by releasing Freaky Ali at CineStar cinema,” he added.
He went on to add how stakeholders in India were also being hit by the move by the self-imposed ban. “We will first test waters with these unreleased films and then begin negotiations with Indian distributors to continue the import of movies into Pakistan,” he added.

He has been accused of providing fraudulent documents to obtain the Computerized National Identity Card. Furthermore, the handsome man tried to exploit his “Celebrity status” by pressurizing the passport office to issue his passport.
According to a local News channel, Arshad Khan basically belongs to Kandar (Afghanistan) but in the fraudulent documents, Arshad and his family has shown themselves as members of Moosakhel tribe of Pakistan. According to the report, his parents were both Afghan refugees.
Saif Ali Khan’s blunt and rude remarks about Pakistan Censor Board and Pakistan in general have generated negative publicity for him in Pakistan. Saif Ali Khan passed these comments on twitter after his upcoming Indian film Phantom did not get passed by the Censor Board of Pakistan. Transgender mockery isn’t new to us it is how our society operates and growing up here we all took it for a norm and never questioned it’s dynamics but it is high time that transgender alienation is eliminated from this society and they are given their due rights.
Launched by the Asia Pacific Transgender Network, the new campaign #ChangeTheClap aims to change this mindset. It’s about time transgenders are given equal opportunities and respect. Kami Sid, Pakistan’s first transgender model joined hands to support the #ChangeTheClap campaign that addresses the need to appreciate transgenders and stop the mockery.
The campaign also intends to raise awareness about the hurdles faced by transgenders and make a difference by simply uploading a video of yourself changing the way you clap. Each video posted will contribute to creating equal opportunities and educational outreach for the transgender community.

5. Sara Loren:

Pakistani celebrity weddings are one of the most celebrated and anticipated events throughout the year. Every single year, whenever Pakistani celebrities tie the knot, they are showered with a lot of love by their fans who reside all across the globe. This year, the entire world saw a huge shift and were forced to adapt to new changes that they never knew would become the new normal. The entire world went into lockdown and with each passing day, the news related to Coronavirus started becoming a lot more grim. During this time, there were some Pakistani celebrities who decided to tie the knot and show it to the world that this was not the end and amidst such chaotic times, these new beginnings were nothing short of a pleasant surprise and a glimmer of hope.
In the year 2020, sadness and happiness persisted side by side. A lot of celebrities tied the knot and some also decided to keep it extremely simple and intimate, something that was not seen before and eventually ended up sending a great message to the Pakistani nation that weddings did not necessarily have to be very extravagant and lavish, a couple can tie the knot in a most intimate manner that too at the comfort of their homes. The year 2020 began on a high note for Saad Qureshi. He got married to Misha Chaudhry on January 7, 2020, and the couple had an elaborate wedding. They got married the traditional way with all the events beautifully designed and planned by event managers. Former actress Noor Bukhari also tied the knot to Awn Chaudhry, whom she was married to before. Awn happens to be the father of Noor’s daughter Fatima as well. The rumors started spreading about Noor’s wedding but nothing was confirmed until Noor decided to share a picture of her husband Awn Chaudhry on her social media handle, captioning it with ‘My Hero’. This was enough of confirmation from Noor and then she also shared the pictures of a newborn baby girl, which was enough to show that the couple was happily married and settled now. Asad and Nimra tied the knot on February 4, 2020. They were no celebrities before their marriage but soon after they got married, their pictures started circulating on social media. They became an overnight sensation in Pakistan and were then invited to Nida Yasir’s morning show to explain the reason behind getting married at such a young age. Asad & Nimra got famous because of their tender age. Asad’s sister Zarpash decided to take it to social media to address the reasons why Asad decided to get married at the age of 18. He had his family’s support and because he fell in love with Nimra he wanted to officialize and legalize his relationship with her. Armeena Rana Khan got engaged to Fesl Khan on their trip to the Maldives when he decided to propose to her in a most romantic setting. On February 15, 2020, Fesl Khan took it to his Instagram account to announce his marriage to Armeena Rana Khan. The couple shared that they wanted to have an elaborate wedding but by the time they decided to tie the knot, Covid had already started spreading all over the world. Aisam ul Haq was married before to Faha Alam Maukhdum, they were married for a short span of time and after tying the knot in 2011, they got divorced in 2012.

Actress Sadia Ghaffar tied the knot with singer and artist Hassan Hayat Khan at the end of February this year. By this time, the entire country was in lockdown, therefore they were the first celebrity couple to have opted for a simple Nikkah ceremony which was attended by their immediate family members. This was Manzar Sehbai’s first marriage and Samina Ahmed’s second marriage. Samina Ahmed was married to Fareed Ahmed but the couple parted ways in 1993. Nimra Khan

Nimra Khan took it to her social media handle and announced that she got married to Raja Iftekhar Azam on April 19, 2020. Ukhano
Another famous Pakistani YouTuber and content creator Umar Khan who goes by the name of Ukhano also tied the knot this year. He got married on November 14, 2020, in Islamabad and chose to share a few pictures of him and his wife having a great time at their wedding. The couple also danced at their wedding and seemed to have enjoyed their day together. Ukhano became a target of a harassment scandal that was used to frame him but after fighting the legal battle, he won the case and proved non-guilty.
Rabab Hashim
Pakistani TV actor Rabab Hashim also tied the knot with Shoaib this year. This happens to be the most recent celebrity wedding that has taken place. Rabab and Shoaib tied the knot on November 27, 2020, and had a traditional wedding with all the three functions such as a Mayon, Mehndi, and Nikkah.
