If you’ll do good to others, you’ll surely get a reward for it. Try to balance everything, it will make your life easier, rather than complaining every time.

Hina Bayat said, “Jokes aside, this is another major problem in our society—may Allah forgive us—that now girls are attracted to girls and boys are attracted to boys. These things are hidden by people; they get married, and lives are ruined. Relationships break, and there is no way to avoid it if people keep hiding the truth. So at least be thankful if your child is attracted to the opposite gender. There should also be an engagement period to observe both the boy and the girl.”

Munazzah Arif, while talking about relationships, said, “Social media is the biggest factor that is ruining the relationships between the spouses. It develops misconceptions, jealousy, and undue expectations—like “he did this” or “his fiancée gifted her that.” This creates pressure on every girl, and she starts comparing herself to others. Comparisons are so volatile for relationships and should be avoided. I would urge girls not to compare their situations, and I would also say that you should avoid meeting your fiancé physically; virtual meetings can be arranged instead. Nowadays, social media is the biggest reason behind fights.”

Rashid Nazir Ali

Mumkin – The End!

Ohkay so, it’s all well when it ends well. This episode marked the ending of the drama Mumkin & to be honest, I really liked the way they wrapped the drama up & it makes me say that Mumkin was a very good drama. It’s that sort of a drama that I would recommend to anyone any time of the day. I myself started watching it when the first 10 episodes had already aired so I didn’t find it slow but when I started following it on weekly basis; I felt that the pace slowed down but overall it has been a very nice, decent & family drama with some very realistic & likeable characters & very good direction. I feel now when it has ended, it can be followed & enjoyed even more because now when somebody would watch it, they wouldn’t have to wait for a weeks’ time & this way may be the slower pace after the first 10 episodes wouldn’t make any difference as they’d have a choice to follow it through or skip a few repetitive parts in between. In my opinion, Mumkin was a great drama which had a very appeasing feel to it & those of you who’re considering giving it a go, you guys must if you want to watch a simple drama with a simple story but very nice execution.

I liked that Muneeb was the one who let the truth out because he has always been quite honest & sincere with everyone. Yes, he did lose the plot in between but it was good to see him coming back to his senses pretty soon & understanding what Hina had to say. Muneeb always was an open minded person that is why may be without knowing the reality; he misunderstood Maira because he thought that she didn’t opt for honesty as he expected only that from her. Later when he learnt the truth that Maira was just as oblivious as he was, it was good to see him subsiding his ego, accepting his mistakes & taking charge of the situation to rectify everything.

Hina takes the crown for being the best character in this lot. She showed how a wise & rational woman can turn even the worst of situations into everyone’s favor. Hina showed how big hearted she was because she not only took care of her husband’s promise, image & word she also dealt with Nageen with a lot of patience just because she believed in letting go of others mistakes. I loved the way Hina was a binding force of both the families because she stepped up when the time was right & took a back seat when she felt there was no use of making an issue out of a certain situation. I loved her character & feel that the writer did the best job by writing Hina’s character, she gave an insight in regards to so many aspects & she surely was a respectable character.

I am glad that both Nageen & Natasha understood what a great person Aziz was that he abandoned his own family for their sake & for the sake of a promise he made to Nageen’s brother. Nageen & Natasha used to be so arrogant because they thought they had everything but when Nageen understood that the one she was holding onto wasn’t hers right from the beginning, she decided to accept everything & forgive Aziz even though he himself was a victim. Even though Nageen & Natasha were the negative Nancies of this drama, they still weren’t completely bad because I always liked the way they respected Aziz & how their whole world revolved around him. They were possessive about Aziz & that is why they would get annoyed if someone tried to get close to him but that also makes their attitude & nature understandable because that’s how they were.

Overall, Mumkin was a very decent family play that I used to enjoy watching after Diyar-e-Dil on Tuesdays, it had a very comforting feel to it even though there was some part of it that revolved around family politics, nothing was done in a bad taste & everything was done realistically. Mehreen’s character was sweet too & so was Maira’s. I loved their bonding but the best one for me was the bonding that both Hina & Maira shared. It was a breath of fresh air seeing a mother & daughter in law duo getting along so well with each other. The direction of the drama & the acting done by all the actors is what I genuinely liked in this drama & oh I must say, the pairing of Junaid Khan & Sara Khan was great & she looked gorgeous throughout the play. Sadia Faisal was very convincing as Natasha & she looked beautiful too. Irsa Ghazal was graceful & she carried herself really well. Each & everyone contributed in making Mumkin a very good drama & all the supporting characters/actors were great too. Please share your thoughts about the journey that ended last night & let me know what did you guys like the most about the drama Mumkin?

Mumkin – Episode 18 & 19!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Mumkin have been great because finally the story moved on. I really enjoyed watching these two episodes & I hope they maintain the same pace till the drama ends. :)

I am glad that Aziz stood up for Mehreen & let everyone know that Mehreen wasn’t involved with him in an affair but was his lawfully wedded wife. Just when I thought he was being serious in his approach, the following scenes suggested something totally opposite. I really didn’t understand why was it so difficult for him to state the obvious that he got married to Mehreen even before Nageen came into his life & after when he decided to come clean about the whole situation, his attempts of convincing Nageen were quite odd too. It looked like Aziz was too tired to even make a decent attempt or have a serious discussion with both Nageen & Natasha.

To be honest, I found Nageen’s reactions quite realistic because the way Aziz threw a curve-ball at her, anyone else would’ve reacted the same way. All her life she has seen Aziz as a perfect husband who was a perfect father to her daughter & now all of a sudden to find out that her perfect husband wasn’t so perfect right from the beginning made her baffled & furious. It is obvious that she felt betrayed & cheated & instead of giving her a proper reason for keeping her in the dark for all these years, Aziz had nothing decent to say to her at all? No decent explanation, nothing at all.

Well, actually, I found Muneeb’s reaction quite odd. He didn’t have to take such a firm hand at Maira but then I think his reactions were pushed a little too much to make his presence felt in the drama because ever since he got married to Maira, he didn’t have much contribution in the drama anyways. So, Muneeb thought Maira was just as blameworthy as Mehreen because she deceived him all this while but how clueless could he be because if Maira had been aware of it all, she wouldn’t be meeting Kamran uncle. I don’t understand why it was so hard for Muneeb to put two & two together. Maira has always been honest & loyal to him, so to see him doubting his wife & not only that, considering parting ways with her makes him a little less likeable then he used to be. Muneeb not only doubted Maira but he chose to believe whatever Natasha & Waleed told him which makes him look like a different person altogether. Muneeb was always the sane one who didn’t care much about what people said because when Maira had doubts about Mehreen’s second marriage, it was Muneeb who convinced her saying that people’s opinions didn’t matter at all & now he was seen complaining about how he would respond to people’s objections & questions?

Of all the people, I really like Muneeb’s mother Hina, she really is a wise person who knows how to handle any sort of situation. I really loved how instead of siding with Muneeb, she blamed him for being unreasonable & unfair with Maira. Her character is such a breath of fresh air because she is not like those typical mother in laws that we get to see on our screen in every other drama. The way she hid the envelop & the way Aziz didn’t allow her to spill the beans, definitely sheds a light on the fact that there’s more to this story & there’s some sort of bigger reason & justification behind Aziz’s decision of getting married to Nageen.

Nageen now has understood that Natasha depends a lot more on Aziz than she should. She is like a spoiled adult-child who chooses not to grow up but I think it would be better for her if she does because then she would be able to handle the truth gracefully about Aziz not being hers but Maira’s real father. Nageen knows how hard it must be for her that is why she tried to tell Natasha to pay attention to her husband but now Natasha will give a hard time to Nageen too. Waleed really thinks he has hit the jackpot because he pretty much talked Muneeb into divorcing Maira & he did all that so that he could demand the business ownership from Aziz as he knows he would do anything to save Mehreen & Maira from facing any sort of brunt. Waleed has turned this fiasco into a golden chance for himself & I so want to see what he will eventually get, probably a kick from Natasha for being such a mean opportunist?

I am glad that Maira got the news that would save her marriage & Hina tried to knock some sense into Muneeb but then, I think he lost his credibility big time by doubting Maira & blaming her for the thing she wasn’t responsible for in the first place. Aziz & Mehreen are out to prove their marriage but looks like they don’t have enough evidence but this brings me to a question that if Mehreen had gotten rid of the pictures, I am sure she would’ve kept her Nikkah-nama somewhere because no matter what happens, no one ever gets rid of such an important legal document ever? Looks like Aziz & Mehreen will have to face a lot of difficulties to make people believe that they got married 20 years ago & Maira is their daughter. The drama has once again become interesting & I hope they take 2 – 3 more episodes to sort things out & wrap the drama up. Please share your thoughts about Mumkin. :)

Mumkin – Episode 17!

Ohkay so, this episode was really interesting & now when the cat’s almost out of the bag now, I really hope this is their way of wrapping the drama up because if they don’t end it within next 2 – 3 episodes, that for sure would take the fun out of this great drama.

So, Waleed knew that he hit a jackpot the moment he witnessed Aziz & Mehreen spending some time together. Going by the smiles on their faces & their body language, it was so obvious that anyone could understand the comfort level between the two, that is why without giving a benefit of doubt to Aziz, Waleed planned to make the most of the situation.

To be honest, I knew that Waleed was quite a business minded & a practical person, but I never knew that he would be this much practical to literally blackmail someone into getting what he wanted. Waleed felt this was the perfect time to change things in his life because the way Natasha used to look down at him, really bothered him a lot & also, Natasha’s constant reminders about the family business belonging to Aziz also forced Waleed to do everything to own the business so that he could put a stop to Natasha’s taunts.

The showdown between Waleed & Aziz was interesting because the way Aziz stood up for his relation was good. He has said it a million times & he actually means that he doesn’t care about anything or anyone, anymore, that is why even when Waleed threatened him, Aziz didn’t stutter & told him to do anything he wanted because he wasn’t going to back off. Yes, it was kind of interesting to see Aziz agreeing to consider Waleed’s proposal but it was too late. Waleed had already spoken to Nageen & it didn’t take her a lot of time to put two & two together because she had already been sussing out on something & she needed some assurance to get straight to the conclusion. To be honest, seeing all these developments that too, so suddenly really made me happy because I knew that the story was now going somewhere.

Even though Mehreen has gone back to the phase where she has accepted Aziz as her husband, she still is keeping herself mentally prepared to part with him if the time arises because she knows, their reconciliation can create a lot of problems for not only Aziz but for Maira too, so even though she wants to be with her husband, she is tackling this whole situation with a lot of practicality & also this is the reason why she isn’t as mentally prepared to disclose the secret, as much as Aziz.

The showdown at Maira’s birthday gathering was done well. This is exactly what you can expect from a person like Nageen, she has always looked down at both Mehreen & Maira so now when she got a chance, without blaming her husband, she straight away jumped to conclusion that Mehreen is the real culprit. To be honest, as much as Aziz portrays to be a man of his word, the way he stammers & lets Nagreen overshadow him, shows that he still hasn’t mustered up enough courage to speak up in front of Nageen. It kind of shows that Aziz is intimidated by Nageen that is why even when Mehreen was being insulted, he didn’t step in to stop everything & to stop Nageen from accusing Mehreen so bluntly.

This episode for sure was interesting & it also gave us some special moments of Maira & Muneeb but to be honest, their track has been completely overshadowed by Mehreen & Aziz’s track because it seems more enticing now. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mumkin.

Mumkin – Episode 16!

Ohkay so, this episode of Mumkin was quite interesting & amusing at the same time. Interesting because the cat’s almost out of the bag now & amusing because of some directional glitches.

Well, I think no one taught Mr. Kamran the courtesy one has to abide by while visiting the house of a single lady who is your prospective wife, because if someone would’ve taught him the basics, he wouldn’t have just barged into Mehreen’s home so casually even if the door was open, as if he was visiting a hotel. The bickering between Kamran & Aziz was the most amusing thing about this episode because to see two suited, booted gentlemen in their late 40’s or early 50’s fighting over a woman was kind of awkward. Aziz has let Mehreen know that he is not going to bother about anyone & nothing can stop him anymore. He wants to be with Mehreen & more than that, he wants to be a father to Maira, the bond she has never been familiar with. I really thought Kamran would leave, but the way he chose to stay & chose to get insulted was also amusing. He goes like ‘appki beti aur damaad mujhe *pasand* kar ke gaye hain aur app meri hone wali biwi hain’, it really showed that he was in a hurry to get married too but sadly ‘dil ke armaan, anso’on mai beh gaye’.

I am glad that Raafia came at the right time too because if she wouldn’t have come, the drama would’ve dragged a bit more & it was about time that at least one of Mehreen’s peers found out about her relation with Aziz. Raafia’s only purpose of life for now is to see her best friend getting settled & now when she got to know about Aziz, she looked relieved because most of her work was done & all there was left for her to do was convince Mehreen of letting Maira know about Aziz too.

Natasha, is being unreasonable. She hasn’t given Waleed a chance to form a normal & a healthy relationship with her, so why does she expect him to go out of the way for her whereas her only priority has only been her mother & her father? Waleed nowhere is Natasha’s priority & just because he is working with a female colleague means he is interested in her? I really think Natasha’s character has been spoiled because now there’s nothing much her character can offer anyways, so, just to give her some screen time, she is made to do all this because it doesn’t really make much sense at all.

Another amusing scene of this episode was that it was Aziz himself, who was preaching Waleed about loyalty & honesty & attaining Natasha’s trust because she feels a little insecure & later he had to get busted by Waleed who caught him red-handed, dating Mehreen out in the open, ha-ha! Even though I am glad that the secret has pretty much unraveled, but the way Mehreen adorned herself & all those close ups & Raafia’s suggestion of wearing a ‘red’ dress for her date were the things that were kind of awkward to be honest. Yes, I do agree that they have kept it all very subtle & realistic & there is still something nice about it but I can’t curb the awkwardness as well. Overall, I have a mixed up feeling about the romance that is going on between Mehreen/Aziz but yes, I am glad that they are still shown as a husband & wife so that makes it decent for sure.

I really like how Maira always has a scene or two with her mother-in-law because there’s something very special about their conversations. I am so glad to see a MIL & a DIL sharing a healthy relationship because that’s a rarity these days in our dramas. Overall, it was a very decent episode with a few giggles-provoking scenes, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mumkin. :)

Mumkin – Episode 15!

Hmmmm, this episode was slow too but I don’t mind watching Mumkin after Diyar-e-Dil, at least it isn’t as heavy as the latter, but I really think they should move the story forward because it’s been a while since they have revealed that Mehreen is Ahmed’s first wife & Nageen has picked up on some hints, but other than that they haven’t shown any progress in the story.

Maira & Muneeb really liked Kamran but I find it a bit amusing that without even Mehreen’s consent they not only met him but also gave a heads up to him. Maira should know that Mehreen never really bothered getting married because if she would’ve wanted, she could’ve gotten married when she actually needed someone to depend upon while Maira was still a child, so now when Mehreen has lived all these years alone, how can she decided to get married to a stranger all of a sudden just because Maira wants a daddy? I think Aziz has already become a father figure to Maira so she should settle down for that.

I am glad that Aziz came back to his home because that whole get up of the bandage on his round head left me hysterical because he looked like a Pakistani version of the Vatican Pope. I mean what were they thinking? If they wanted to show the signs of his wounds, they could’ve used some decent dressing for it but I don’t know if it was Sajid Hassan himself or it was the placement of the bandage that was funny.

1

I must say if Waleed sacrifices half the time he does on makeup, for Natasha, she wouldn’t be having so much of complaints about him being MIA from her life. It is obvious, Natasha is a newly married girl too & I don’t think her demand of Waleed paying a tiny bit of attention to her or her ill father is unreasonable. Waleed himself doesn’t want Muneeb to become too involved in the business so he should inform about it to Nageen because the way she taunts Muneeb of not paying attention to the family business sounds unreasonable. I am glad that Natasha has somewhat changed after Aziz’s accident.

I think instead of just sitting around & making assumptions, Nageen should start tailing Aziz whenever he goes out because it is important for her to find out the reality & I really hope it happens soon because that way the story will move forward. Once again, I was shocked to see Maira & Muneeb dignifying that hideous bedsheet in one of their scenes. I really wish they get rid of it ASAP. Anyways, this is it from my side; please share your thoughts about tonight’s episode of Mumkin.

Mumkin – Episode 14!

Ohkay so, it was an interesting episode of Mumkin but I still feel the pace has slowed down because the focus of each & every episode is more or less one a single situation & then they make sure to cover it in so much detail that at times a few of the scenes & conversations become repetitive.

Finally, Aziz has finally let go of the secret as to why he couldn’t come back to Mehreen after leaving for UK. He struggled a lot & got married to Nageen for the sake of money. I remember someone commented in one of the previous reviews that Natasha might not be Aziz’s biological daughter & I was surprised to see it being the case. Natasha is Nageen’s daughter but Aziz loves her as his own, which is why Natasha always sides with Aziz a lot more & never questions or doubts him, because he has been a perfect father figure for her all these years. To be honest, as sincere Aziz sounds, I don’t think his justification was a justification enough for leaving his newly wedded expectant wife in the lurch & never making an effort to get in contact with her ever. Yes, he went through a tough phase & got busier in his life that he had no time for Mehreen but then, how long would’ve it taken for him to settle down? 5 years, 6 or 10 at tops? So, for that to see him being missing for 20 years & never paying heed to Mehreen, doesn’t really make him look as sincere as he poses to be. It only would’ve taken a single phone call for Aziz to contact Mehreen but he cut her out of his life. If he hadn’t come across Mehreen at Maira’s Nikkah, he would’ve never bothered about his first wife because he had pretty much moved on & going by how he was before, he seemed pretty comfortable in his life, so I really don’t find his urge to reconcile with his first wife quite appealing.

It was good to see Waleed knocking some sense into Natasha. Even though, she has changed a lot after Aziz’s accident but Waleed tried to make her understand how she can be rude at times & how she puts others down. That is why I liked the slight change in her attitude by the end of the episode. She was always like that, controlling, rude & arrogant but she wouldn’t bother much about some intricate situations until Nageen forced her to think about them, that is why she found it easy to own her mistakes & apologize to Maira too.

To be honest, as much as they’ve kept it simple & decent, I find Sajid Hassan’s attempts at being romantic with Irsa Ghazal a bit odd. The way Irsa Ghazal melts every time she comes across her oldie but a goodie husband is a bit awkward too, lol. But, I am interested to see how things will roll as far as their relation is concerned. Obviously, Aziz wants Mehreen back but she is not ready as she can see the bigger picture & being a woman, she knows how hard it will be on her & on her daughter as well, so for this reason, I find her stance a bit more logical & justified than that of Aziz’s.

It was interesting to see Nageen picking up the hints about what was happening & plus it was so obvious, Nageen & Natasha are always hovering around Aziz, so it was a mistake on Mehreen’s part to visit him repeatedly at the hospital because anyone would eventually find out about it, but still I believe they’ve been realistic in taking the story this far & I am sure it will continue to be that way unless they decide to give it the ARY treatment. Mumkin indeed is a decent play to watch & I like it for this reason. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mumkin.

ps: As far as I know, Muneeb’s family is quite well-off, so I hope Maira goes out & buys some new bed-sheets for her room, because that loud printed hideous flowery messy bed-sheet is screaming for a change ASAP.

Mumkin – Episode 13!

Ohkay so, this episode of Mumkin was quite interesting. Yes, it was slow in a sense that it focused on one aspect but nevertheless, I enjoyed watching it because this will mark the progress in the plot & story as the secrets are about to get unravelled & the strings attached to those secrets are about to get unfolded.

I really find Natasha unreasonable. Yes, she is a spoiled brat & she loves being the centre of attention, but that doesn’t mean that she has to act like a teenager who hates sharing her father’s attention with someone else. The whole ‘stay-away-from-my-father’ scenario showcased how unreasonably immature she was. She needs to understand that attention & care is earned, it’s not just showered upon you when you barely work for it. She never has treated people around her nicely & then she expects people to ignore everyone else & praise her for the things she has not even done?

Aziz is obviously persistent on getting Mehreen back. What made him upset the most was the news of how Rafia & Maira were considering getting Mehreen married to someone else. Even though Mehreen has stayed strong all this while & she has never given away the hint of how much she wants to be by her husband’s side but the accident finally broke the ice & she experienced the emotions she never thought she’d have for her husband even after so many years have passed. Yes, she has all the reasons to be mad at him & she has all the reasons to ignore him, but just the thought of him of going away once again melted her as she couldn’t take it anymore.

The way the driver gave away the details to Nageen was something that was done very realistically. Nageen is obviously feeling the change in Aziz’s behaviour but she also remains concerned about how he shouldn’t be on his own behind the wheel, therefore her conversation with the driver seemed very genuine. She just reminded him of his duties but then ended up finding something that she never imagined. I think it was quite smart of Nageen & an intelligent way of storytelling that she immediately put two & two together right after she heard about the whereabouts of this specific friend of Aziz that Nageen had no idea of & also when she found out that some lady accompanied Aziz to the hospital. Nageen obviously will work things through but this accident has taken a toll on her emotionally, that is why it may take a while for her to process & reconsider the things to figure out the truth.

I liked how Natasha softened up after Aziz’s accident. At least, it’s good to know that there’s someone who matters the most to Natasha & that is why, this incident moved her a lot, because of which she was able to see how everyone was concerned & how everyone was trying to stay by her side when she hit the rock bottom. At least, it would make her understand that this is what a family is all about, sticking together through ups & downs & how she shouldn’t always misunderstand them.

This drama is very interesting. The story may be simple, but it has been executed intelligently. All the actors have done an amazing job & everyone fits their respective characters to the T. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mumkin & let me know how much are you looking forward to Aziz & Mehreen’s reconciliation? :)

Mumkin – Episode 12!

Ohkay so, things are moving a bit slow for now in Mumkin but overall, it still makes a good drama to watch on a weekday. It was obviously expected that the pace of the drama will become a lot more stagnant after they’d cross a 10 episode mark & this is exactly what is happening because now every episode only deals with one situation at a time but IF they’ll wrap this drama up before 20 episodes, I think it would be great.

Natasha obviously is having a hard time seeing Maira getting along so well with everyone in the family. Natasha never wants to be a part of that family but she dislikes when someone tries to do that. She should know that everyone is different, so if there are things that might not be important to her, they can be important for someone else, so she should just let that person be & do her own thing. For Natasha, the only thing that set her apart from Maira was her social status but now when Maira is standing at the same platform as hers, she can’t seem to cope with it.

Rafia & her husband want Mehreen to settle down now when she has no one to look after her. Rafia, like a true friend wants the best for Mehreen & ever since the incident of someone trying to break into her home, Rafia is more of an opinion that Mehreen should have a companion in her life, who she can depend on. Even though Maira feels this is the right thing to do, the little hesitation that she had was subsided by the opinions Muneeb shared with her. It was actually very sweet to see Muneeb being considerate about Mehreen just as much as he always is about his own mother.

What Aziz is doing for Muneeb, Maira & indirectly for Mehreen is calling all sorts of suspicion on him but it seems that he really doesn’t care about what Nageen & Natasha would have to say when they’ll find out. Going by the way Waleed reacted, it actually showed that he doesn’t want Muneeb to be a partner in that business & he also doesn’t like anyone’s interference. Aziz obviously is a shareholder so he gets to have a check or say in the business matters but Waleed doesn’t like it. The way Aziz tried to cross check Waleed actually showed that he has picked on how Waleed has kept Muneeb away from the family business because he doesn’t want anyone as a partner. Aziz doesn’t understand that the way he is showering his love on Muneeb & Maira to be precise can put them in an awkward position because Natasha obviously is giving Maira a hard time so she will really make their lives miserable if she will pick on something of that sort seeing her father going through so much trouble for them.

I think it’s about time they let us know the reason why Aziz left & couldn’t come back to Mehreen because their phone conversations are becoming a bit monotonous. Yes, I think the whole scenario of Mehreen’s marriage might make Aziz come out clean about the relationship he shares with her as he obviously doesn’t want to lose her. I am guessing Mehreen will say yes to this marriage thinking she’d be able to keep Aziz away from herself so I am expecting a lot more drama to come. Over all it’s an interesting watch, so let’s see what more do they have in store for us. I am glad they added a few scenes of Muneeb & Maira together; it’s always a treat to watch them both. Share your say please. :)

Mumkin – Episode 11!

Ohkay so, I must say we’re 11 episodes down with Mumkin & this drama is getting better & better. I like how they have still kept the story so engaging & interesting but I just wish it doesn’t get the treatment any other good drama of ARY gets & that is the treatment of dragging. I am hooked to this show completely & I actually look forward to Tuesdays to see how the story of Mumkin going to unravel.

Well well well, for a change it is so nice to see a daughter in law sharing a good relationship with a mother in law. I like how Maria & Hina have become more like friends to each other. Hina knows that Maira is a very innocent girl & she doesn’t have much exposure in a sense that she hasn’t dealt with different or mean people in her life that is why Hina feels it’s her duty to protect & guide her, which is the thing I love the most about their whole relationship. I like how Maira is resorting to transparency in her relation with Hina because just when she got a bit confused about what Natasha said to her, she thought the best thing to do was to get to know Hina’s point of view on this.

Apparently, Natasha thinks Maira is just trying to win everyone over with her antics but sad is that Natasha has forgotten that this is who Maira is & this is exactly the reason why Natahsa befriended her because she always got the help she needed from Maira. I don’t know why but I still understand where Nageen & Natasha are coming from. They are obviously very authoritative & also rude to a certain point but that’s just who they are & I still don’t find them completely negative. I know it would sound a bit odd but I kind of enjoy the bickering between Nageen & Aziz too because they look like a typical couple who have sticked together for so many years & now they are in such a comfort zone where they can be their true self in front of each other. I also somehow enjoy watching the way Nageen & Natasha give utmost attention & importance to Aziz. He indeed is the most important person in their life & that is why I always like their family scenes together. Nageen may have a lot of complains with Aziz & she might also boss around him but she actually depends a lot on him & he is the only person who affects her the most which I really feel is something sweet & good about her character.

Aziz is obviously missing the point here. By giving extra attention to Maira & by acting a bit sneaky lately, he is inviting all sorts of questions & suspicion on him. Aziz should understand that Nageen has already started to pick up the hints because she already senses something wrong in the way he has been behaving lately, so it wouldn’t take too long for Nageen to figure out what is actually going on.

Mehreen is obviously in no mood to give an edge to Aziz because he has moved on & Aziz is such a chapter in her life that she doesn’t want to go through again. She knows that he now has a wife & a daughter & more than that Mehreen is pretty much settled in her life. She knows that now if she allows anything of such sort to happen, she won’t be alone in facing the consequences because Maira would also face the brunt, which is something she dreads the most. I really like Rafia’s character too. She is such a good friend to Mehreen because she has always been there every time Mehreen needed her. I think Mehreen shouldn’t lie to Rafia because she has been such a good friend to her & she can actually help her in dealing with the situation properly.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode & can’t wait to see what happens next. I must say I love the way they have kept everything & every relation just so natural, whether it’s a relationship of a father & a daughter, a relationship of a husband & wife, a relationship of friends or a relationship between a mother & daughter in law, everything is done just so nicely & naturally that you actually understand them & relate to them even better. There are always a few things that warm up your heart & a few things that always give you a proper perspective about what’s going through a character’s mind, which for me makes Mumkin work completely. Please share your thoughts about tonight’s episode & let me know how much do you enjoy watching it? :)

Mumkin – An Overview!

Ohkay so, on a lot of recommendations I decided to give Mumkin a go & I was pleasantly surprised because I wasn’t expecting Mumkin to be this good. Writing of Sarwat Nazeer, Direction of Furqan Khan & Production of Six Sigma Productions; Mumkin currently airs on Tuesdays on ARY & is 10 episodes down. Even though I wasn’t expecting this but Mumkin turned out to be really good because there are so many things in this drama that work for me. The direction is absolutely brilliant because without over-doing anything, they have shown a lot of characters & their personal relationships to perfection. The plot is quite interesting & the cast has done an amazing job too. I like Mumkin for the fact that even though there are so many characters, everyone gets a due time & coverage & the way their tracks are interlinked makes it a very interesting watch. There might not be a lot of big or star names associated with Mumkin, but there is absolutely no need for any addition in this drama because it is a complete package that will give you a lot to look forward to & will make the drama-watching experience enjoyable.

I liked how they started the plot by showing two girls who were best of friends but were totally & completely opposite to each other & later as the story progressed, they showed how their life kept on getting interlinked & they ended up sharing more relations with each other than they ever imagined.

We have Maira (Sara Khan) who is the only child & the only relation she ever knows & has shared all her life with is of her mother Mehreen (Irsa Ghazal). Mehreen has always kept Maira in a very protected & secured environment because she knows that her daughter is very simple minded & is quite innocent. Mehreen has kept her life very private because she has a lot to hide & that is why she has kept her past hidden from her daughter as she doesn’t want it to affect her daughter in any way. There are a lot of qualities that set Maira apart from the rest of the girls of her age because even though she is confident & positive, she is still very child-like.

Coll 1

Then we have Natasha (Sadia Faisal) who is also the only child of her parents Nageen (Farah Shah) & Aziz (Sajid Hassan). Nageen is your typical practical woman who treats people according to their status & that is why Natasha takes it after her mother which is why she also doesn’t believe in being courteous. She is mean, she is dominating & she likes to have all the attention wherever she goes & the good thing is she knows all this about her because this is what her mother has taught her.

Then we have a family of Hina (Tahira Imam) who has two sons Waleed (Yasir Mazhar) & Muneeb (Junaid Khan). Hina happens to be a sister in law of Nageen but she is a very easy going person & that is why she often lets Nageen run things in her household too. Waleed was engaged to his first cousin Natasha & on a recommendation of Nageen, Muneeb was engaged to Tanya, who happens to be a daughter of Aziz’s business partner. Nageen knows that this marriage will bring a lot of benefits to their family business, which is why she persists on getting Muneeb married to Tanya.

The family of Hina experiences the real deal of problems when Muneeb & Tanya start to have a difference of opinion. Tanya being born & bred in UK demands Muneeb to settle down in London after their marriage, which Muneeb refuses to do as he doesn’t want to leave his mother at all. Natasha always depends upon Maira for everything as she knows that Maira is a very easy going person & she doesn’t involve herself much in intricacies, therefore, Natasha remain friends with Maira as she can boss around Maira & keep her wrapped around her finger without having to worry much about what Maira would think or feel & actually Maira has such a high opinion & regard of Natasha that even when Mehreen tries to warn her about Natasha, Maira chooses to ignore it completely.

Coll 2

Maira gets introduced to Natasha’s in-laws on one of the pre-wedding get togethers & the moment Muneeb meets Maira, he feels attracted & connected to her. After coming across a few indecent pictures of Tanya on her Facebook profile, Muneeb decides to call it quits because he can easily foresee that both he & his fiancée are two different people who are not at all compatible to each other. Muneeb then starts taking interest in Maira but when Nageen tells Natasha the main reason behind getting Muneeb married to Tanya, Natasha makes sure to brain feed Maira against Muneeb so that she doesn’t accept his proposal.

Just because Natasha tells her, Maira half-heartedly decides to get engaged to her family friend Adil (Asad Siddique) who actually likes Maira a lot. Maira thinks by doing this she will be able to keep Muneeb from showing interest in her but Muneeb understands it pretty well that Maira is only faking an engagement. Adil comes across Tanya on Natasha’s wedding & being an opportunist, just because Tanya promises to get him settled in UK, he backs off from his engagement & decides to get married to Tanya. Muneeb then grabs the opportunity & introduces himself to Mehreen to let her know that he is interested in her daughter; Maira & wants to get married to her. This is how they get married & now the story has gotten a lot more interesting because a new person has emerged in Maira’s life that she thinks of as a father figure to her & now she has to find out that he actually is her father.

Even though Mehreen has stayed calm & composed all these years & has stayed focused because of her daughter, she is often seen reminiscing about how her husband left her in the lurch & for that she is often seen heart-broken. Aziz decides to give Natasha a surprise by showing up on her wedding & immediately after that, he gets to attend the Nikkah ceremony of Muneeb & Maira, that is when he comes across Mehreen & realizes that Maira is his daughter as Mehreen was his first wife. From the person he seemed in the reminisce scenes to a person he has become now; he came across as a lot more courteous & apologetic towards Mehreen becasue it looks like he has understood Mehreen’s value & importance while he was away. He wants to make things right & he wants another chance because he wants to let Mehreen know about what happened back then that he couldn’t return to her & he can do that because he never divorced Mehreen & was still married to her when he left for UK which makes Mehreen his lawfully wedded wife till date for sure. Maira has never known much about her father because Mehreen chose not to share much with her & instead told her that her father died when Mehreen was expecting Maira, that is why Maira feels drawn towards Aziz as she respects him like a father. After seeing Maira & getting to know how loveable she is, Aziz lets his fatherly instincts rule him & because of both Mehreen & Maira, he decides to stay in Pakistan for a while.

This is what has happened till now but I must say, the way the story is being told is commendable. It was probably around the 6th episode or so when I guessed that Aziz would be Mehreen’s husband & Maira’s father & I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that happening. I am glad that once Maira will get to know the truth, she will get all the love & support she has ever dreamt of. Even though the way Aziz vanished & banished Mehreen from his life, makes him a bigger culprit but the way he projected himself now goes to show that he has regretted that decision every single day of his life, for the past 20 years.

Coll 3

I must say I am totally impressed by Sara Khan’s acting here & in fact all the actors fit so well in their respective roles that they make this drama a complete success for me. I love how calm Mehreen is, I love how positive Maira is & I must say Sadia Faisal has done an amazing job as an irritable spoiled young girl. There are so many shades in every character that you can easily understand them. Tahira Imam once again takes the crown for playing the role of an adorable mother to perfection & oh I must say, Farah Shah has done a commendable job in portraying the negative role of Nageen so effortlessly. I must confess, it’s for the first time that I have liked Junaid Khan in any drama. He should go for more such roles where he gets to be a positive & caring person. I absolutely love seeing Sara Khan & Junaid Khan together because their chemistry is amazing & they make a great on-screen couple. There’s something so special while watching these two together in this drama that I actually find myself smiling during their scenes together. I enjoy watching Mumkin for the fact that even though each & every character has a dominant personality trait in them, their different reactions at times often show us the other side of them too which is actually quite appeasing.

In my case, I’d say ‘better late than never’, so I am really glad that I decided to watch Mumkin before it ended & yes, I will be reviewing it on weekly basis from now on. Share your thoughts about Mumkin please & let me know how much are you guys enjoying watching it. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

ps: Please stay tuned for an overview of Jugnoo as well & then the weekly reviews will follow too. ;)
