They constantly remind you of your flaws
Gaslighters like to accuse you and attack you personally by constantly reminding you of your flaws. Whether it is at a personal relationship or workplace, you’re always subjected to being weak, undesirable and dull.
You will be made to feel like there’s always something wrong with you and what you do, and that you’re never good enough. The gaslighter does this to gain power over you and rule over you whilst claiming superiorty.
They will make you feel anxious and uncertain about yourself
When you’re in contact with a gaslighter, they will frequently make you feel anxious and uncertain about yourself. You would become wary of your behavior, you wouldn’t know what is expected of you and constantly be in fear of when the gaslighter will act up again. You will start questioning your self worth and if you’re good enough in a relationship or if you’re a good employee.
Expressing yourself will become difficult
While in a relationship with a gaslighter, you would be scared to express yourself openly. You’ll feel anything you do or say will go against you and cause problems in your relationship or at workplace. During the presence of the gaslighter, you will constantly feel anxious and tensed and tend to remain quiet as to not stir up a fight. You will constantly feel the need to correct yourself and take conscious decisions just so you don’t upset the gaslighter.
The gaslighter will rarely admit their own flaws
While accusing you of your shortcomings and making you see flaws in yourself, the gaslighter will rarely admit their own mistakes. If they are criticized and shown their true colors, this in turn will cause them to make excuses, blame you or show displeasure and anger towards you.
Through this tactic, the gaslighter is able to take the focus off themselves and turn the tables on you.
You will begin to re-evaluate and criticize yourself
Whatever the gaslighter says negatively about you will begin to seem true to you and you will constantly start to re-evaluate your self worth and criticize yourself. Additionally, you will also begin to apologize for mistakes you have not made.
You will seek the gaslighter’s validation everytime
Despite being poorly treated, you will seek the gaslighter’s praise, approval and validation. They will start to being codependent on the gaslighter for almost everything. In a a gaslighting relationship, the gaslighter has the power to grant acceptance, approval, respect, safety, and security.
You begin to cover up for the gaslighter’s mistakes
When concerned family and friends ask about your well being, you start putting up a brave face and try to cover up for the gaslighter. You start to feel powerless and in control of the gaslighter while feeling a sense of responsibilty to protect them.
You feel stuck and alone
Oftern victims of gaslighters feel stuck and alone as they feel they have no one to talk to while isolating themselves. Many victims know they deserve much better but still remain silent in such situations.
Yalghaar is on the verge of release. The film is Pakistan’s most expensive film till date and flaunts a stellar cast including Shaan Shahid, Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Bilal Ashraf, Ayesha Omer, Armeena Rana Khan among others. The film is slated to release on Eid.

Film/Drama actor and T.V host, Fahad Mustafa is reported to be next seen in an upcoming movie by the director of Zinda Bhaag, Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi. The story is written by Faseeh Bari but the title is yet to be given.

Dur-e-Fishan Saleem is a new addition to the Pakistani TV drama industry. She has started her showbiz career with her debut drama “Dil Ruba” and played the role of Hania Amir’s sister. She has recently appeared in her second drama “Bharaas” which is currently on air on ARY Digital. Born and raised in Lahore Dur-e-Fishan is the eldest of four siblings. She is the daughter of Saleem ul Hassan who is a former PTV producer/director. She has studied law before stepping into the field of acting and has also practiced law as an Intellectual Property Lawyer for a year.
Dur-e-fishan Saleem has recently appeared in The Mazedaar Show hosted by Faizan Sheikh and Aadi (Adeel Amjad) and aired on TV one.
In the show, Dur-e-fishan was asked about her dream character. She replied, “I want to do any character that has shades, any character that just wakes up and is not happy all the day because no human is like that. I enjoy playing the characters who react and that look human and relatable to people. I try to keep things natural and that’s what I tried to do in my drama serial “Pardes”.

With the same purpose, we tuned in to singer Bilal Saeed’s Instagram story and were hoping to find the singer entertaining his fans with his melodious voice, but as it happens, there was something else cooking entirely.
As it seems, Bilal’s Instagram story was dedicated to model turned actress Sabeeka Imam, where he made the revelation about the duo’s friendship and how they talked when Sabeeka was upset (which was 90% of the time they talked.)
What the singer stated implied that Sabeeka had been upset about him taking a call while talking to her.

I must say this fact brings a smile to my face that the moment I step into Pakistan, I get to hear my mother tongue in my surroundings. I think nothing beats the connection you feel the moment you hear Urdu all around you. No matter where you go, the relation & the bonding you feel with the people who share the same language as you is unexplainably appeasing.
Good Old Family:
For me, the best part about visiting Pakistan is meeting the grandparents & all the elders of your family, in fact the whole bunch of relatives. The peace & happiness that you feel after meeting your people, after seeing those familiar faces eradicates all the hassle of travelling. Nothing beats the warm welcome that you experience the moment you meet your family.
Shopping Till You’re Dropping:
Not sure about the gents but for the ladies, hands down, this has to be the best perk of visiting Pakistan. Discussions on the latest trends, the designers & all those shopping trips are the best part of the the whole journey. I mean who doesn’t like stocking up the apparels for your new wardrobe? Coming to Pakistan & not to shop till you drop is something impossible. I enjoy my fair share of those bargains with the ‘Pathan’ vendors, I must say they do come up with all sorts of tricky taglines to sell the fabric, which you can never think of & yes, the most important aspect of the trip to Pakistan is the regular trips to the family tailor, lol.
Cravings of Pakistani Food:
Ohkay, we know, we all have that one specific dhabba that we all want to visit before leaving Pakistan. I make sure I compile a list of the places that I want to visit & the food I want to eat because there are plenty of places that have helped in spoiling our taste buds. No matter where you eat, nothing beats Pakistani food & especially the food of those road-side stalls is to die for.
The Weddings:
No matter what time of the year it is when you visit Pakistan, you always get to attend the wedding functions during your stay. All those vibrant colors, the long discussion, everything related to the festivity is something to look forward to & luckily if the wedding that you get to attend is of the immediate family member then the excitement is sky-high.
The Night Long Discussions:
Who doesn’t do it? The best part of visiting your family is staying up till late hours of the night just so you talk about everything that has been happening in & around your life. I look forward to these sort of sessions with my cousins the most & I think everyone does it because those discussions are the best way of unwinding with your people.
Mini Trips:
That’s like taking a mini vacation within your vacation. Those short trips that you tend you plan with all the families of your immediate relatives are the most memorable moments of the whole trip. My ancestral home happens to be in Murree so for me, visiting Murree is a compulsory part of every trip that I make to Pakistan. All those gatherings & outings are something worth planning so as to experience a wholesome vacation & not to be forgotten the late-night outings with a bunch of cousins to settle the food cravings are another highlight of your stay.
Remembering The Routes:
Remembering the routes to everywhere you go. Remembering all the places, all the markets, all the roads, ways, even the sign boards has to be the best thing about being in your place & then all of a sudden you realize, things might’ve changed but a lot of them didn’t. I totally enjoy how the whole map is sketched into your memory & helps you in remembering everything related to the journeys you’ve taken on these roads.

A clip of the Nausheen Shah is doing rounds on social media from the show Zabaradast with Wasi Shah in which she has revealed that she has experienced a very embarrassing real life moment which she barely shares with anyone but is telling here in the live show. She said, “Please don’t judge me from it, I was in London for the awards, we went for breakfast at a buffet, I ate something which I thought was a hot dog or sausage, it had quite a different taste, I took two bites but obviously I didn’t eat, later on, I came to know that it was pig, I asked from the waiter about it, he then told me that it is this, so I did vomitting as well because I ate it mistakenly”

ATV’s Morning Show host Farah Hussain has been conducting the show very well. This time she interviewed the brother of Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed, who received Nishan-e-Haider. The brother of the Shaheed told her something that was really shocking. He told her that when his brother got the Nishan-e-Haider it was decided that the Shaheed’s dead body will be shifted to another grave. Many people were against the idea because naturally the corpse would have been eaten up by then.
He said that when the grave was dug six months after his brother passed away, a rain cloud appeared out of nowhere and it started drizzling. The grave smelled really good and when the coffin was being lifted there was fresh blood coming out of it. The body looked like it had been buried only minutes ago. Also, the flowers on the coffin were still fresh.
Hira and Mani are said to be the most original couple of the industry. Hira became a part of the limelight after getting married to Mani. Recently Hira and Mani came to Nida Yasir’s morning show “Good Morning Pakistan”.
Hira and Mani talked about the time when the most adorable celebrity couple Sarah and Falak invited them to their house. It is quite evident from the videos of Sarah and Falak that they both have such a sweet nature but Hira and Mani also praised the hospitality of Sarah Khan and Falak Shabir.

Taher Shah has succeeded in getting the publicity he was looking for when he came up with his new song “Angel”. He takes pride in the fact that his creativity has won him so many fans. In an interview he also said that he was getting a lot of offers for commercials and even special appearances in films including films from across the border and Hollywood.
Few American from the US Embassy in Islamabad were divided in a set of two each and were shown this music video for the first time. They were asked to say whatever they felt about the video out loud and the reactions were very amusing. Some felt sorry for the poor kid who was in the video and there were others who questioned what was meant by “mankind angel”!! There were also some who thought the tune was very catchy and many of them liked the cinematography and colors in the video. They also could not make out whether the people in the video were dressed as angels or fairies.
There is no doubt about that our writers had played a big role in making our dramas globally hit. Whether we talk about Umera Ahmed or Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, their thought provoking stories had given drama industry a recognition. Of course we do admire our actors/actresses, directors and production houses but what attracts audience is a brilliant storyline and a strong plot that send some positive messages as well to the audience. Cast, direction and Production is secondary and that’s the reason why we had witnessed many star studded downers recently.
Dragging is there and I accept it and we had indeed talked about it zillion of times. In my opinion dragging is acceptable unless a story of a particular play is entertaining us for example Pyaray Afzal, we all know that ARY had dragged this play up till 37 episodes but we all have enjoyed this drama and our emotions were quite high about it.However if our writers continue to provide us with stories that are full of clichés and controversies then soon there will be a decline of this growing industry.
Now let’s take a week review of those high budgeted dramas airing these days and analyse how our writers have failed us in terms of quality entertainment.
Aik Pal: This is supposed to be a mega project of HUM TV but I guess in production. Mega project nowadays means a large villa and some luxury cars. Ok for many of you out there the story might seems to be interesting but for me it’s actually very boring. The plot is good but storyline to be honest isn’t attractive at all. We all know that how flat is the story, there is one good guy and one bad guy that’s it. This drama got no curiosity as what will happen next neither it contains any suspense.
Dosri Biwi:“Naam hi kafi hai”, I mean do I need to say anything. Dosri biwi is the latest obsession from our drama writers and ARY Digital thought that promoting this kind of pathetic play would actually increase the TRP. Come on For God sake we don’t need picture quality we need thought provoking stories. I am not watching this brilliant stuff so can’t comment more about it.
Zid: WOOH! Yet another high budgeted drama shot in America, probably producers’ favourite country. So drama took off with a good pace and first five episodes were interesting but now it has gone totally baseless. Seriously what this drama is all about? What writers wants us to understand? All I could understand in this drama that everyone got their own thinking and they demand for their rights, however the way they demand for the rights is not correct. So now what else is remaining in this drama when all cards were already revealed by the writer? Saman left the house and Omar is not making any effort to bring her back. What Saman wants now? What Rukhi wants? What Omar wants? Scenes are incomplete and didn’t make any sense.
Chup Raho: wow! Wow! Wow! Yet another masterpiece brought to you by Samira Fazal and ARY Digital. “bahi pair pakar ke maafi maangte hain agar koi ghalti hogai hum audience se lekin is torture se bahar nikaalo”. This drama is surely on an endless path and making no sense at all. “Rameen ke adventure hain ke khatam hi nahi ho rhe”. Rameen’s infinite stupidity is making me sick and the story is just going round and round in circles. I would like to request samira fazal please stop writing for a while and make your return when you get some good logical stories in your mind. Let’s see what Alvida will offer us in future.
Jackson Heights: This 24 instalment drama could have been easily wrapped up in 16 to 18 episodes but our producers and directors love to drag it. “In ka khaana hazam jo nahi hota drag kiye bagher”. Forget dragging but seriously I witnessed many loopholes in the story. Salma is such a darling! I would like to ask Vasay Chaudhry where I can find this type of wife who can be treated as a doormat despite being an independent bread winner. On the other hand Michelle is such a cute baby who had rejected her trusted friend and is going to marry a boy who is half of her age and just arrived from Pakistan. Good Morning Pakistan is one of the most popular shows of the country. Nida Yasir has been hosting that morning show for years now and people love to hate it most of the time. There have been many controversies over the years and the show has seen many ups and downs remaining as the last standing show in the contemporary morning show space.
One such controversies happened with Shabbir Jan when he was pranked on the show and he got offended and walked off the show. Though he knew that he will be pranked a bit but what went on was too much and he just walked off the show.

Shabbir Jan was a guest on Nadir Ali’s podcast and he talked about what happened after the whole fiasco. Ali Zafar is one of those multi-talented people that received a lot of praise in both Pakistan and India. Recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Ali Zafar shared his views about both Pakistani and Indian film industries.
“I feel that just like Indian films release in Pakistan, Pakistani movies should also release in India. I am sure people here will like them.Over the past few years, many movies have been made in Pakistan. And with the growing competition, the quality is bound to improve. I have met many talented directors and writers with some great ideas, and I want to work with them.”
According to Ali Zafar, Bollywood has an edge over Pakistani film industry. “India has an edge when it comes to the infrastructure here, because this industry has been growing for decades. I am sure the Pakistani film industry will also become more systematic in the next few years.”
He is a singer, actor, producer but now he wants to try his luck as a director, too. “Multitasking is challenging, but I enjoy it. I would love to direct a movie in the future. Film direction has always fascinated me.”
Alamgir Khan, a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), started “Fix It” as a campaign on January 4, 2016 against the inability of authorities to cover Karachi’s manholes that were left open for way too long. Fix It basically was an initiative by Alamgir Khan to highlight problems faced by inhabitants of Karachi, during unstable socio-political times.
Initiator of Fix It that has become an organization now, Alamgir Khan recently came on the morning show hosted by Sanam Baloch and shared how he had started Fix It and what it represents. Alamgir said that Fix It is for the awareness of the public especially youth to know the problems and try to solve those problems. He said that the youngsters need this kind of empowerment so that they could go ahead and take their problems head on. He said the black shirts that team Fix It wear are a symbol of unity and power. If you are wearing that shirt no one would dare to ask for bribe from you, no one would be able to delay you work unnecessarily.
Fix It ignites hope that perhaps we are moving towards a change for the better, a change where the common man is more conscious of his role and rights in the society and is an active participant in ensuring their security. Alamgir calls it a silent protest that is not harming people but merely giving them a platform to address their problems.
Given that we are in the 21st century and that Pakistan’s education indicators are improving as well as media playing an active role to highlight the role and respect of women, one would expect that some positive impact would be made of our young generation too. But, it turns out, old habits die hard and eve-teasing has become one of our nation’s worst habits. Every time we believe that we have improved as a nation, as human beings, an incident surfaces that diminishes all hopes;we cannot even let women enjoy themselves at public places! .
