Shagufta Ejaz happens to be one of the best actresses on Pakistan television. The range of emotions that this wonderful actress can display is very rare. We absolutely love and adore this veteran actress for having given us such memorable performances one after another.
Recently, Shagufta Ejaz took to her Instagram account to introduce her daughters on social media. And alongside the pictures, we absolutely loved the captions Shagufta Ejaz wrote.
Introducing her first, eldest daughter, Haiya, Shagufta Ejaz wrote,”My first born ❤️ Eldest daughters are the true shadow of their mothers because they spend the most time to learn and to teach.”
“My second Born! My Friend, my partner in everything, my support system, my shoulder to cry on, my doctor,” wrote the actress about her second daughter.
Shagufta Ejaz introduced her third daughter with a beautiful caption writing, “My third born. The naughty, witty, sensitive and caring one. Makes everyone in a gathering laugh and steals the show with her beautiful voice!”
It seems like, Shagufta Ejaz’s fourth daughter is her dearest kiddo, as the actress wrote how she loved her little munchkin a bit too much.
After watching the previous episode, I didn’t have high expectations from this particular episode. Tonight’s episode however was pleasantly surprising. Although Hasan and Anaya’s reactions when Hasan’s mother suggested that they should move out of the episode were not too convincing, the overall development was quite likable. This was one of those few episodes which showed the bonding between Hasan and his mother. The best part of this episode was watching Hasan’s mother turn from a caricature to a really strong character. I do feel however feel that Laila Zuberi has underplayed this character a little more than needed. This episode would have been faultless had the writer not tried so hard to make Anaya so ‘politically correct’! Even after everything that happened, she was still willing to live in the same house as Miraal although she had been given the option of moving out of the house. The writer deserves credit for penning down Hasan and Anaya’s scene in the apparent so beautifully. Ameer Gillani and Mawra Hocane’s brilliant performances made these scenes extremely realistic. I must say that Mawra Hocane’s performance, in particular, was simply outstanding. I still feel that the thappar in the previous episode was completely unnecessary since Miraal’s insults were a good enough reason for Hasan and Anaya to leave the house.
The New Beginning
Most of us were hoping that it would eventually be Hasan who would make the decision to live independently but that was not the case. The writer change in Hasan’s mother’s stance more convincingly than anything else in the first part of this episode. In the beginning, she tried to convince her husband to get Miraal married but he has already decided that she will continue living in this house even after getting married. She could have talked to him about Hasan and Anaya living independently but she chose not to do that. There were times when Fareed seemed like the kind of man who could show some flexibility but clearly when it comes to pleasing Miraal, he does not even use his common sense! He is more than willing to let his only son go because he knows if he tries to stop him, Miraal will get upset.
Although Fareed’s attitude is extremely annoying, it is also the perfect explanation for Miraal’s present condition. Any child who is brought up in this manner would find it impossible to hear no for an answer as an adult. I think the writer has intelligently shown how important it is for parents to do their job right! A parent’s job is not to ‘please’ their child at all costs but their job is to ensure that their child grows up to be a balanced and responsible adult.
I couldn’t understand why Anaya was all dressed up when Hasan’s mother came to meet her since last week she was not willing to go back at all. Also, Anaya has not been shown taking any big decisions lately. It is as if the writer wants to portray a ‘perfect’ image of a wife and a daughter-in-law but in doing so he has taken the human element away from this character. Taking important decisions or stance does not mean that a woman is rebellious, she could have taken this decision and carried it out as gracefully as Hasan’s mother did.
The scenes showing how much support Hasan got from his mother, the childhood stories and the lunchbox were some of those scenes which made me wish we could have seen more of this and less of Miraal’s repetitive craziness. The director deserves tons of praise for shooting the apartment scenes so well. The way he captured the emotions of these characters and showed what it was like to move into a new place which isn’t yet ‘home’ was extremely relatable!
Hasan and Anaya
Hasan and Anaya’s scenes in the apartment were better than those which covered their honeymoon. Mawra Hocane did exceptionally well in the scene in which Hasan asks her if she liked the apartment. Everything happened suddenly, this was not the kind of change she planned or looked forward to. A girl who was always used to being around parents and family now had to start a new life. These scenes were beautiful and realistic because they covered convincingly how their life had changed all of a sudden.
Hasan and Anaya are finally free! They can live their lives on their own terms and conditions, clearly, they are more than willing to give this new life their best. They literally were like two love birds who had just been freed from a cage! I am glad there was more friendship and support shown in these scenes than the done-to-death romance.
It was also good to see Hasan reacting to Miraal’s insulting behavior for a change! Anaya put those pictures of Facebook and Hasan the video but later on, she said she did not want anyone to know yet that they had moved out of the house.
Harris (Absent) and Miraal
So after all these weeks of waiting for Usman Mukhtar to finally make his entry, we only got to watch a few unimpressive scenes so far and now Dr. Harris is absent from the scene. Even if he is not in touch with Miraal, the viewers should have been at least introduced to the character itself in this episode. I have watched all the episodes with Dr. Harris in them and I still don’t know him! What kind of a person is he? Does he have a family? Does he have a story to tell? It has been 15 weeks, the viewers at least should have been introduced to his character properly. So far he is Miraal psychiatrist/psychologist (even that has not been determined yet) who now wants to be her friend and is, therefore, taking a ‘break’!
Miraal is clearly not ‘cured’, she still has the same mission in life and she is not seeing a professional any more either. This entire track literally gets on my nerves because it is highly repetitive. The fact that Miraal is a narcissist is well-established by now, can we please move on! She is still planning to somehow end Hasan’s marriage with Anaya which basically shows she is a dimwit too! This is definitely the track that has been the most unappealing aspect of Sabaat.
Final Remarks
I am definitely rooting for Hasan and Anaya after watching this episode. I just wish, the writer wouldn’t have been so focused on making Anaya so ‘perfect’. Tonight’s episode belonged to Mawra Hocane, her performance was outstanding throughout. Hasan and Anaya’s scenes were well written and executed, they made this episode engaging and quite likable as well.

Our Sindhi Industry has taken an initiative and has produced something similar to Ertugrul Gahzi.
A new Sindhi Series is all set to hit the screen on KTN which is a local Sindhi channel. The drama stars the famous Sindhi actress Rubi Ali.
Well from the trailer it looks like the drama makers are deeply inspired from Ertugrul and they have also made a drama based on war. Probably it is also based on historical events but not many details are revealed yet. Anyhow, it is good initiative. We must look towards the brighter sides rather than criticizing Ertugrul.

Mann Jogi is a series worth waiting for. It stars the superstars of our Industry Saba Qamar and Naumaan Ijaz in lead roles. Other cast includes Agha Mustafa Hassan, Uzma Hassan, Gul-e-Rana and others. Mann Jogi is written by Saji Gul and directed by Kashif Nisar.
The series has been shoot-ed at different locations of Lahore. The production house has been keeping pretty tight lips regarding the story line of this series but we are sure that this series will take the audience to an emotional roller coaster ride.
2. Dhoop Ki Deewar
If we dig down deep in the details of drama, it is written by the legendary Umera Ahmed who has already given us a lot of big hits. The drama is directed by the famous and talented Haseeb Hassan (he directed Alif as well). According to the initial information this is probably be a web series. It will be love story beyond the borders featuring Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir in lead cast. Ahad Raza Mir will be playing the character of an Indian boy Vishal , whereas; Sajal will be seen playing double roles and one of her character’s name would be Sara. The shooting of the drama is almost done and we will soon be able to watch it on any digital platform.
Talking about the story, the drama is not based on a a typical love story, it is a love-hate relationship based on the typical love-hate relationship between the people of India and Pakistan.
There story revolved around two families that that are united by their father’s death. One family is of an Indian soldier and other is of Pakistani’s. It will show that how the martyrdom affects the family and their realization that peace is better than war.
3. Abdullahpur Ka Devdas
Another exciting series starring Bilal Abbas Khan, Sarah Khan, Naumaan Ijaz, Saveera Nadeem, Anoushay Abbasi, Raza Talish, Ali Ansari, Shahzad Nawaz and many others.
The series spikes up the exhilaration of the audience merely by its unique name that gives us an idea that this series would be offering something different. Written by Shahid Dogar and directed by Anjum Shahzad we are sure that this new venture will prove out to be a treat for viewers.

Yasir Hussain said, “She must come here for one year and work hard as our actresses do and then she deserves a brand. She must collaborate with us, she is shooting in Turkey even. If she has came to Pakistan and then shoots in Peshawar or in Karachi for the mobile ad but now in this way your people have no work. What did you get? Even you didn’t get business from it.”
Anushay Ashraf gave her point of view and said, “I don’t think so due to one or two campaigns studios don’t shut down. Like Kareena Kapoor did work for Faraz Manan.”
On this, Yasir Hussain said, “I am so surprised that a person like you is not getting my point then how will common people understand this.”
Anushay Ashraf responded, “Because I was happy when I watched the series and I thought she should come and this is how brands are earning and selling their product.”
In the end, Yasir Hussain said, “This is my opinion but why are you getting offended by this? I am not getting offended by your statement. I am talking about all those actresses who have worked day and night and now they deserve to be a brand ambassador. After all the years of hard work, they deserve this but no, your own brand hired someone from another country and giving out all the money.”

I will also say that all those drama makers who are quite a fan of flashbacks should watch Dushman e Jaan keenly because they will get a lot of pointers on how & when to use flashbacks to add more depth to any situation. I am so glad that Dushman e Jaan ended on such a strong note. It began with a bang & continued flying higher with each passing episode.
Sarwat Nazir, Amin Iqbal, the producers & the entire cast of Dushman e Jaan should be very proud of themselves because it won’t be an overstatement but it actually feels so good that we still have such drama makers who are capable of bringing something like this to the table. A strong storyline, flawless direction, phenomenal performances & consistent developments, as well as the perfect pace, made Dushman e Jaan a must-watch. I will say that I absolutely didn’t see it ending this soon & as much as I am happy with the end, I am a bit sad that I won’t get to watch it again next week. I guess it’s time for a re-run!
Hatim’s Secret & Rubab’s Stance
This set of episodes wrapped the story up in such a phenomenal manner. It all started with the blackmailing & then Hatim getting exposed. What I really liked was that Hatim never gave up & although he knew that the chances of him getting exposed were high, he still didn’t sit still & kept on doing what he could to keep things under control. The way Rubab found out the truth was also very convincing; she started getting hints & then picked up the pieces. It also goes to show that when things were in Hatim’s favor, he continued to dodge the bullets with Rubab not overhearing his conversations with Fiza & Uzair but when his secret had to be out, it didn’t take much effort for Rubab to find out. I really liked how the element of reality was integrated throughout these events because nothing seemed out of the blue & poorly conceived.
The highlight of these last episodes was Kamal’s efforts in making amends. He actually deserved a second chance & even though Hatim did not allow him the luxury, Kamal ended up finding a way to prove his fatherly love to his only son. It was actually quite beautiful & emotional when Kamal confessed what Hatim meant to him & how he too longed for his presence in his life. Kamal & Fiza were very much on the same page, they both took a long time to realize that all that they were running after was nothing in comparison to the love that they had for Hatim. It was also realistic that it actually had to be something huge for Hatim to actually believe that Kamal had changed & that he actually was looking to start afresh. Kamal ended up proving & redeeming himself & for the first time, Hatim was now experiencing how important these relationships were as well.
Rubab turned out to be a stronger character than what the viewers usually perceived her as. She stood firm & upon finding the half-baked truth, the way she reacted went to show that she was never going to shy away from voicing her opinions & letting others cloud her judgment. Rubab grew as a person & Ramsha’s death didn’t turn her bitter, but made her stronger to the point that she realized she too could fight the toughest battles. I was at the brink of being super upset with Ehsan when he walked to the police station with Rubab because at first he never showed interest in putting the culprits responsible for Ramsha’s death behind bars, but now he was very much supportive of the idea that Hatim should be punished, that too when he did so much for the entire family. However, he too redeemed himself when he told Rubab to let go of the grudge because she actually found out the truth about Hatim.
Fiza & Uzair were really strong & nice characters too. The way they always supported Hatim & helped him deal with his guilt was one of the best aspects of the story. Rameez’s faith in Hatim was another commendable factor because he could see through Hatim’s sincerity. The way they all came together to show support to Hatim was quite sweet. I am usually always against the overuse of flashbacks & in some cases OST’s too but when it comes to Dushman e Jaan, I for the first time loved the flashbacks which were used when Fiza told Rubab Hatim’s side of the story because they included all the scenes of Ramsha – the character that all the viewers of Dushman e Jaan fell in love with. The OST of Dushman e Jaan was brilliantly used throughout the drama as well because it always added more emotional quotient to all the scenes.
Phenomenal Performances, Strong Direction & Brilliant Script
Sarwat Nazir definitely writes some of the best love stories that I have come across. Hatim & Rubab’s love story was beautiful too & these characters were performed phenomenally by Mohib Mirza & Madiha Imam. Mohib Mirza should take a bow for carrying this entire drama on his shoulders. If it weren’t for him, Dushman e Jaan wouldn’t have been what it is. The way he embraced the character of Hatim & portrayed it actually goes to show his caliber as an actor & I am sure after this project, he is going to be one such actor whose projects will be looked forward to by drama viewers.
Madiha Imam should be super proud of herself for elevating the level of this drama with her display of emotions as Rubab. It was beautiful how in the beginning, Hatim & Rubab seemed to be such a mismatch but they worked on their relationship & continued to help each other become better versions of themselves. Tooba Siddique also got to prove herself. I am sure it is because of her performance that everyone fell in love with Ramsha’s character & she turned out to be the main reason initially why people started keenly following Dushman e Jaan. I am so glad they decided to keep these ending episodes purely about Hatim & Rubab & subtracted all the side tracks because they wouldn’t have helped the situation at all.
I will be completely honest, when I saw Kashif Mehmood in the beginning, I was actually looking forward to his performance & thought his character will have a lot more to offer. Although Aqeel was a negative character I found Kashif Mehmood’s acting quite underwhelming. I guess in this entire drama, the only actor who didn’t quite perform well happened to be Kashif Mehmood, that is why his scenes lacked impact & didn’t really have that in them to make the viewers curious. While watching his scenes, I actually felt he was bringing down the overall excitement that I had to see the ending Hatim & Rubab will have.
Imran Peerzada’s acting also improved in the last couple of episodes & I felt his assertiveness actually added a lot more appeal to his scenes as Hatim’s father – his dialogue delivery actually worked this time around. Saba Hameed & the actor playing the role of Uzair were brilliant. I am glad Sarwat Nazir showed us a mother like Fiza who not only acknowledged where she went wrong but continued to do what it takes to make everything right. The rest of the supporting actors also performed well & they too did justice to the assigned roles. Director Amin Iqbal led this entire drama with a lot of finesse & attention to detail, his approach towards this script was commendable & I am so glad he did not add any situations that would’ve slowed down the progress of the story. Sarwat Nazir deserves full points for bringing such an interesting script & keeping all the situations realistic. The dialogues were meaningful & some of the conversations were beautifully written. The entire team of Dushman e Jaan should take a bow. Please share your thoughts about the final episodes of Dushman e Jaan.
