Hum Bridal Couture Week is Pakistan’s biggest bridal fashion show. The reputed fashion show is produced by HUM Television Network in collaboration with Pantene. Pakistani celebrities have come in the support of Indian failed attempt to reach the moon. They have said that being happy with others failure is not going to make us big but being practically working would help us.

These are our celebrities who are urging Pakistanis to stop shaming and trolling India on this as at least they have tried to reach the moon which is commendable. Our celebrities are somehow right that we shouldn’t troll India and should rather work on us which we agree and we believe that our scientists and people have commendable achievements. Pakistanis are not fond of trolling.

The whole episode is because of Indian trolling that they did to Pakistan right before sending their shuttle into the moon, the trollers said the only way Pakistan steps on the moon is, by stepping up on their flag. Is this kind of trolling and bullying allowed.  The communication they are cutting off for Kashmiris , the destruction they are doing in Kashmir would save them from being trolled.

It is sane to preach about praising failures of such big missions but no mission is bigger than humanity , once India has to be good at it , all it’s missions will be successful.

It is just a point to ponder for all of us.

Pakistan is in a state of emergency owing to the global pandemic coronavirus. The cases have been growing in number and three deaths have already been reported owing to the deadly virus. Anam Tanoli’s tragic demise has left everyone in shock. Some from the Fashion fraternity whether knew her personally or not took to social media and talked about mental health and cyber bullying. Upcoming model, Anam Naveed Tanoli’s body was found yesterday from DHA Lahore.

Her death nevertheless started a new debate. Many are talking about the importance of mental health and the stigmas surrounding it and some of the stars are using their star power for the cause.

Armeena Khan is known for being vocal about her political views and she isn’t quietly sitting around this time either. The Janaan starlet took to her twitter and said,

“I didn’t know her personally but I’m devastated that a young beautiful girl succumbed to the bullies around her, I spoke to a close friend of hers who told me how deeply she was affected by social media trolling and bullying at work.”

She continued,

“She was suffering from depression and the world was ruthless regardless. I wish she was stronger but I also wish that we were kinder, all of us. Be on a watch, anyone around us could be suffering from depression and your words can take someone’s life,”

Momina Mustehsan has talked about her own experience with mental illness before, this time around she posted,

“This is a picture of me from when I was going through turmoil not very long ago. It happens to the best of us. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and we all hit points in our lives sometimes when all seems to be falling out of our control.”

Rizwan Beyg

The fashion designer took to Facebook to share his thoughts on mental illness. He wrote,

“Amidst all the awards and celebration, the tragic suicide of Anam Tanoli has been totally sidelined and not been addressed by the fashion fraternity,” 

Further adding he said,

“I never knew Anam or worked with her but the awful stories surrounding her suicide are a wake up call for all those of us who still have a conscience and some shred of humanity left,”

He continued,

“Stories of body shaming and downright vicious attacks on a young vulnerable girl are hugely disturbing and what is even more disturbing is a total lack of remorse, sadness or indignation on her passing,” 

He concluded,

“I am ashamed Anam and sorry I was silent at the injustice you faced at the hands of the fraternity I am part of. Rest in peace Anam because I certainly cannot,”

Social media bullying in general and bullying in the fashion industry in particular can break the strongest. The only way we can fight mental illness is by taking it as seriously as physical illnesses. We do not know the fights each of us is fighting so try to be as kind as you can be and save lives.

Following the pathetic backlash that Maulana Tariq Jameel received for his speech and dua during the Prime Minister’s Ehsaas Telethon, the respected cleric has issued an apology for his certain remarks that might have upset a certain sect of the society.

A tweet from Maulana Tariq Jameel’s official Twitter account state, “During the conversation on Prime Minister’s program “Ehsas Telethon,” the mention of lies and obscenity was meant to indicate the avoidance of these deadly diseases, it was not meant to offend any individual or institution.”

Turkish dramas airing in Pakistan is nothing odd. Nor is it a new feat. Pakistan started airing Turkish dramas about a decade ago and they became all the rage then too. Ishq E Mamnoon was a big hit and it started of a chain reaction of sorts where one Turkish drama after another was dubbed in Urdu and aired on popular channel.

In fact if Pakistani drama industry has had a strong rival after Indian soaps, it has to be Turkish dramas, that brought about a strong storyline and rather engaging cast. A number of celebrities spoke out back when Ishq E Mamnoon aired.

““I don’t want to see a future where I am going to do voice acting on someone else’s face; that is simply outrageous,” Humayun Saeed had said back then.

Now, ever since another Turkish series, Ertugrul started airing on PTV, a lot of celebrities have again called out the Pakistani government for airing foreign content and not supporting their own. Yasir Hussain, Shaan Shahid, Reeman and others have voiced their opinions strongly against the airing of Dirilis Ertugrul on PTV.

However, a number of celebrities have appreciated the government’s stance, stating how cultural exchange through content is a commendable feat.

Aamir Liaquat got married to an 18 year old girl Dania Shah. The move itself got criticized a lot as soon as Aamir Liaquat shared the news on Instagram.

Demanding teacher-assessed grades, dozens of students of the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) system staged a protest against the planned O and A Level examinations in April and May. After studying online for the whole year, they said that they would not appear for tests in classrooms. The protesting students and their parents demanded the federal government to cancel the CAIE examinations in light of the pandemic. Like other countries, they asked for marking to be done on the basis of teacher assessed grades.

However, today the Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood announced that examinations across the country will be held from the third week of May. Meanwhile, Cambridge exams will be held as per schedule.

This is extremely shocking that our very own celebrities are supporting an abuser. On the one hand, we appreciate women who come out of abusive relationships while on the other hand, we support abusers.

Shahid Afridi’s statements few days back that he gets more love from Indian crowds than he does from the Pakistani crowds was not taken well by some people. There were people and also journalists from both sides who wanted to know how different celebrities thought about Shahid Afridi’s statement since Pakistani fans love Shahid Afridi and such a statement can cause resentment.

Naimal Khawar is a former actress and wife of superstar Hamza Ali Abbasi. She is a famous influencer herself and people have always loved her since she made her debut with the film Verna. Naimal has always been known for her beauty as she has a gorgeous face and her looks became talk of the town as soon as she made her acting debut. Her look as a bride was copied by thousands as she looked beautiful on her wedding.

Naimal is right now under a lot of controversy as she changed her look and netizens think that she had a nose surgery done allegedly. People have been talking about it no-stop and she has been trending on all the social media apps.

Television host Syed Iqrarul Hassan’s claim to fame is his show Sar-e-Aam but over the weekend, he was trending for a different reason that was his tweets.

“India vs Pakistan. Iqrar didn’t stop there. Further he pointed out how the Pakistani passport and rupee are of a much lower value as compared to other countries, especially Pakistan’s South Asian counterparts. “May God give us the ability to turn Pakistan into the true meaning of ‘zindabad’,” he concluded.

The tweets weren’t received well by the public, with some going as far as labelling him a traitor. Soon, the hashtag #ApologiseToTheCountry started trending on social media. Later however, Iqrar found support from celebrities who helped another hashtag #WeSupportIqrar trend.

Akshay Kumar starrer ‘PadMan’ that focuses on menstrual hygiene and awareness regarding menstruation was reportedly banned in Pakistan due to it’s content because apparently the topic is “taboo” and damaging to our culture. The article can be read here,

Armeena Khan gave her two cents on the matter and said,

It is hard to understand how movies that sexualize women and are filled with nudity and profanity find their way to big screens but when it comes to movies that focus on awareness be it about menstruation, sex education, child molestation or rape our censor board finds them unfit for this culture because we are simply proud of our jahalat.
