Shamoon Abbasi is someone who is unfortunately known more for his failed marriages than anything else. Every time people discuss him it is mostly because of his failed marriages and not because of everything that he has done in his career. Shamoon Abbasi shared in Nadia Khan’s Morning Show today how it made him feel like when people passed comments which were hurtful and other things which suggest that he is a bad person. He said,
“I am not a hypocrite, I believe in having honest relationships. I marry the girls I wanted in my life, I did not have affairs. I can also have relationships outside marriage but I have been very conscious that being a Muslim it is wrong to live with a girl without being married to her. People have one wife and 13 girlfriends and that is okay with people but a person whose marriages have failed people judge them. Even if there is a picture of me with my co-star or friend people pass degrading comments which is upsetting but I don’t let it get to me.”
Shamoon said that somehow people always think that it must have been the man’s fault when that is not always the case. He said,
“I have also been rejected by my wives, women left me too. Why do people take it for granted that the man has to be at fault? I have cried and begged my wives not to leave me but they left me any way. I have been hurt and I have been rejected. Thankfully I have fans who love for my work and there is only a selected group of people on social media who are obsessed with marriages and divorces, that is all they want to talk about.”
Talking about why all his relationships failed, he said,
“In all my 3 marriages, I realized that women do not like everything to go steady. When everything is going right, they want that there should be some fluctuation. I felt like I needed someone who would be willing to change for me but women want me to change, they want a saint. I do not cheat, I do not gamble but I am not perfect either and I needed someone who would accept me for who I am.”
Shamoon Abbasi is currently busy shooting for an action series titled “Yeh Janoon” in which he will be playing the role of a police officer.
Repetitive, predictable, lame, sickening and extremely disappointing – these few words explain this particular episode more than any other! It was quite obvious that the “saza” Ayesha had in her mind for Shahwez would be that he stays in her mother’s house in “that” room for the rest of his life. Although the writer and the director have tried their best to convince the viewers that this indeed would be the ultimate “saza” for this man but somehow I find it extremely lame and can’t relate to this man’s misery. The scenes between Ayesha and Shahwez make me cringe now, although Ayesha is doing all of this to make him suffer but they are spending a little too much time together considering their history! Sometimes less is more therefore it would’ve been better if all of this could have been summed up in one final confrontation instead of showing Ayesha “punishing” this man over and over again because no matter how many times she does it I still don’t feel for him and I still am very sure that this “saza” is not “saza” enough!!!
After watching this episode and many more before it I am wondering if this drama really was about Ayesha’s “saza” or was it about Shahwez’s “saza”!! The way Shahwez treats Salma goes to show that he has actually learned nothing from his “mistake”!! He still has absolutely no respect for women, even if that woman is crazy enough to love him even after knowing everything about him. The way Shahwez told Salma off every single time he talked to her made me wonder what was going through the writer’s mind when he penned down those scenes. The focus on Salma’s “love” for Shahwez is sickening. I always thought that Salma will be the one who will help Ayesha punish Shahwez in some way that might resonate with the viewers but now I fail to understand why Salma’s character is there. Is the writer trying to show that Shahwez is still the bad guy but he is a totally different person around Ayesha – is that supposed to be impressive in some odd, sickening way??
Adnan is still “struggling”, well at least we got to see a glimpse of him too doing whatever he has been doing for the past 4 episodes or so. Therefore the entire episode wasn’t just dedicated to the new found relationship Ayesha has with her rapist! I am extremely disappointed with the recklessness with which this script has been written and handled. Next time our writers want to create some controversies to gain the attention of viewers they should be kind and sensitive enough not to base such a story on a highly sensitive topic like rape.
As if watching what is unfolding in this drama is not depressing enough, when you see the promos of upcoming dramas or even those that are currently on air in the break you’re even more disgusted to watch that every other drama shows women crying and pleading sometimes because they are helpless and at other times because their husband sold themselves off to another woman!! Our writers and directors rely heavily on showing women being insulted in some way in dramas to gain trps. I am utterly disappointed, appalled and disgusted by the everything that is being shown in Sangat and by everything else that is being shown in our dramas nowadays.
In Pakistan, currently three film censor boards are functional. To screen a film in civil administrated areas of Punjab and Sindh censor certificate from Punjab Borad of Film Certification (PBFC) and Sindh Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is required respectively. For all the rest of regions i.e. KPK, Balochistan, Federal Capital Islamabad as well as the cantonment areas of Sindh and Punjab censor certificacte from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is required.
These three censor boards often became a point of debate due to their inconsistence decisions. Majority of the members of the PFBC and SBFC are former artists or cultural activist, whereas the CBFC has a majority of bureaucrats and retired security officials.
The recent example of inconsistent decision making from censor boards is regarding the Bollywood film Bajirao Mastani due to release on Friday 18th December 2015. It is based on the historical events of famous Marhatta ruler Bajirao and his wife Mastani (Mastani is considered as Muslim by few historians). The PBFC has issued the censor certificate without any objection, the SBFC has allowed the screening after cutting a merely 20 second sequence. However the film is stuck in CBFC who have objections on its screening.
Speaking to Express Tribune the chairman of CBFC has explained their twisted logic as follows.
Mobasher Hasan, chairman of the CBFC, told The Express Tribune the reason behind the decision. “Firstly, the film is in Hindi and our ordinance does not allow Hindi films to be screened,” he said. “Secondly, it is a historical drama that is indirectly against Islam and Muslims,” he further added.
Although it was expected that intimate scenes and certain action sequences might prompt such a decision, Hasan clarified this was not the case. “There are intimate scenes in the film but they were not a major concern for the panel,” he noted. While the film was rejected by a panel initially, local distributors have called for a full board review of the film, once again.
With only one day left in its release the film is expected to get a censor certificate from CBFC today after review from the full board. In case the film fails to get a censor certificate from CBFC, it will only be released in the civil administrated areas of Punjab and Sindh. However such inconsistent decision making from the three censor boards always raise questions on the code of censor followed by these boards.
Earlier this year a Pakistani film Swaarangi was banned by CBFC but passed the knives of PBFC and SBFC without any cuts. Similarly a Bollywood film Ragini MMS 2 in 2014 was passed by CBFC and SBFC but was banned by PBFC.
Popularity of Indian Bollwyood’s films in Pakistan is beyond any comparison especially when it is full of star cast. Regardless of the political situation with neighboring India, Indian Bollywood films always perform well in Pakistan.
On Friday, 18th December 2015 two star cast Bollywood films are releasing Dilwale starring Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra.
As per press reports the advance booking of both the films is quite high especially Dilwale has a clear edge over Bajirao Mastani. Only in once city Karachi even before its release Dilwale has earned 20 lakh (200,000) rupees in advance bookings. Seeing this trend at few places the distributors of Dilwale have increased the ticket prices as well.
The star cast of Dilwale has also appeared in multiple morning shows on different Pakistani television channels to promote the film like on Hum Tv, Hum Sitaray and Dunya Tv.
From past three four years Bollywood films released in the month of December earn huge revenues on Pakistani box office. In 2013 December, Bollywood’s Dhoom 3 earend around 25 crore and became the highest earning film ever on Pakistani box office (The record is later broken by Fast and Furious 7 and Jawani Phir Nahin Aani in 2015). In December 2014, another Bollywood film Piku also earned 23 crore in Pakistan. Seeing past trend these two films are also expected to perform well especially Dilwale.

Ohkay so, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode of Mana Ka Gharana as well. Even though they are taking things forward slowly, I somehow like the pace for now because they aren’t giving everything away just yet & it is building the curiosity in me to find out more about all these characters.
I really like the relation both Mana & Khizer share. They are so candid & comfortable with each other & they somehow depict how best friends are & how best friends should be. I really like how at such young age they both are so mature & are always concerned about the well-being of their family. I loved the way Khizer persuaded Maalik to come back. Considering how rigid Maalik is, it was interesting to see him getting convinced by a guy half his age because he actually made sense. During their one on one conversation we also got to know that Khizer’s parents died when he was only 11 & that is why he is more responsible & even more mature than guys at his age are as he understands that he has to reciprocate the consideration his uncles showed towards him when he was a child & was facing such a tragedy in his life.
Even though this aspect got covered by the end of the episode but throughout the entire episode, I actually felt that Zarri was a bit too interested in Maalik & his personal life. Yes, some curiosity is good but the way she has started interfering in his life doesn’t seem appropriate. She is quite opinionated & doesn’t hold back in making it all about herself. Even though she did sound reasonable at times, but I don’t think I like her character for now. Yes, I did feel bad for her when Maalik told her off & gave her a reality check but I guess when she knows that Maalik doesn’t like to have a candid conversation with her, then she shouldn’t push the wrong buttons. She initiated an argument & he responded back. I felt bad for her when she cried over what Maalik said because I feel she has been through a lot in her life & she doesn’t want people to step a foot on her Achilles heel that is why she keeps on blabbering things about others to keep them engaged in explaining themselves because that way no one even thinks about asking her what she is going through or what forced her to come to this point in her life where she is finding a shelter in other people’s home.
I really like the concern each & every family member shows towards Maalik. It’s like they have this undeniable understanding about his nature & character that they like to keep things his way in order to make him feel better & comfortable. The sympathy Saleha has for Maalik is quite sweet actually. She takes care of him like an elder sister because I feel she not only knows what Maalik has been through but she also knows how hard things have been on him. The thing that surfaced about Maalik was his insecurity & the complexes he might have because just when he heard Zarri talking about all that, he went into a deep thought & indirectly ended up asking Khizer if he felt that way about Maalik as well, which showed that Maalik himself might be a bit aware of his shortcomings but doesn’t have the strength to deal with it.
The new character that got introduced today was of Gul Bahar (Ayesha Toor) who happens to be Maalik’s wife. They didn’t give away much details like whether they have been officially divorced or they are just separated but at least for now we know that the reason why Maalik as gone into this shell is none other than Gul Bahar. I thought it was totally inappropriate that Zarri not only went into his room but also searched through his stuff & ended up breaking Gul Bahar’s photo frame. It was obvious that Maalik would be ticked off but her reaction to it was quite odd. I think Zarri is someone who only believes in doing what she feels & has a huge ego problem where she fails to admit that she has committed a mistake too. It is so obvious that Saleha is also feeling a little awkward with Zarri’s presence because she can see that Zarri is not only ticking Maalik off but is causing distress to him by meddling in his personal life. Even though, I could feel it but Maalik confirmed that Zarri was once interested in him & he actually chose Gul Bahar over Zarri, which I am sure is still something that Zarri hasn’t gotten over with considering the fact that she is still unmarried & is still quite curious about him.
Overall, it was a very interesting episode & I love the music they have used in the background, it is quite soothing & gives a very nice feel to the drama. I feel each & every actor is doing a commendable job. I love how they are revealing little details about all the characters slowly & steadily like this time around we got to know that Mana dreams big & she wants to settle in a big city because she is bored of living a simple life in a small town. I must say, they really have uplifted the level of the drama by choosing such a beautiful location & also, the way they have added some comic relief in every episode is commendable too. It shows the level of friendship & the wavelength both Mana & Khizer, being cousins share. I am looking forward to the next episode. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mana Ka Gharana & let me know how much did you enjoy watching it?
Fawad Khan seems to be enjoying doing some small projects in Pakistan. He is not shooting for the films he has signed yet but we have recently seen him the Tapal commercial and now he is also seen endorsing the brand Republic. There are billboards everywhere in which we can see Fawad Khan because Pakistanis love him and anything that he promotes gets popular without any doubt. Fawad Khan has been busy in India but now that we are seeing him in advertisements and promoting brands hopefully we will see him on television too. Fawad Khan has always said that he is an introvert by nature so he avoids being seen in public and giving interviews as much as he can. He however had to overcome his introvert nature when he was busy promoting his film in India because you cannot refuse to promote a film you are playing a lead role in. Fawad Khan has signed four films in Pakistan. He will also be seen making a guest appearance in the film Ho Mann Jahan.
Here are some pictures from Fawad Khan’s latest photo shoot.
The most important development in tonight’s episode was Hira finding out the truth about who Shehryar was. Sadaf’s insecurities got the best of her and she decided to go to Shehryar’s office to request him to leave Sehr. Sadaf’s helplessness has been portrayed brilliantly by Samina Peerzada but like I said before I hate to see this strong woman play such a weak role. The way Sadaf pleaded in front of Shehryar and the manner in which he told her off was very unpleasant. Shehryar has not changed at all in all these years. He is arrogant and is very sure that he is indestructible. He is incapable of loving anyone and is selfish to the core. The way he treated his daughter went to show how low he could stoop. While Shehryar is one of the worst villains we have seen on screen in recent times, I must say that Sajjid Hassan has done complete justice to his character. You can’t help but hate Shehryar and want to see him paying for every life he has ruined.
Sehr still thinks that she has the perfect life and her phupo is there to reinforce that thinking! She is completely unaware of what Shehryar is capable of doing if he no longer wants to be with her. Shehryar’s dialogues clearly show that he would not think twice before leaving Sehr too if that is what suits him best. This marriage is nothing more than a joke for him and Sehr for now is also really happy with the change in her lifestyle and all the things she has in her life.
Hira is supposed to be the good girl in the play who should technically speaking come across as someone very likeable but I must say that I am having a very difficult time liking her character mainly because it has no spark and also because of the way Saboor Ali has translated it on screen. Saboor Ali needs to be a little more subtle with her dialogue delivery and most importantly with her expressions.
Waseem does not want anyone to stay in touch with Sehr but his sister is most certainly not complying. Although Javeria Abbasi’s role is typical and quite capable of being annoying, I have to admit that I am enjoying watching her play this character.
Overall, this episode of Beqasoor just like all the other ones was quite average. This drama is definitely based on the story of a bechari aurat but the bad guys keep your interest alive in the show. You do want Shehryar to pay for what he has done and you want to know how Sehr’s life with him will unfold. It is sad to see a woman who is so helpless and definitely not something you enjoy watching. Also, this drama relies heavily on showing Sadaf as the victim. The writer obviously wants people to feel for this woman and he wanted viewers to watch this drama for her. I absolutely love Samina Peerzada, she is a legend but I feel like she should be playing roles that are role models for young and old women and not characters which we see on screen all the time. Saboor Ali is the weakest link in this drama. Although her character is that of a strong girl but it does not inspire you in any way.
How many of you watched this latest episode of Beqasoor? Do share your thoughts about it.
Oh wow!!! I must say I am totally impressed with the script that Amna Mufti has come up with. It has everything ranging from emotions to drama to romance & most importantly the element of curiosity that remains just when the episode ends. I must say the director Ehtashamuddin has done a commendable job in directing such a powerful story because it actually needed this sort of direction to bring every character & every situation to life. Even though things are so dramatic in Preet Na Kariyo Koi, they still seem very real & convincing. I must say, I am grateful to the entire team of Preet Na Kariyo Koi for bringing such a powerful drama up for us. :)
Ilyas finally let the cat out of the bag in front of Fiaz & told him all the tiny little details he gathered about Shams. Fiaz obviously didn’t react much as he knew that nothing could be done but the only thing that gave him a little hope was the possibility of Khula that was mentioned by Ilyas. Fiaz actually underestimated Goshi’s stubbornness as he really thought that his child was oblivious of all the lies that Shams fabricated but his grounds were shaken when Goshi herself shamelessly admitted that she was well aware of everything. It actually broke my heart to see Fiaz suffering so much at the hands of Goshi & I fail to give it to her this time saying she acted immaturely. Goshi was only being selfish for the sake of her own gain & that is why, she didn’t even think twice before uttering such harsh words to her father who loved her more than she could ever imagine. As much as I felt sorry for Fiaz, I did feel sorry for Goshi too because she had no idea what she was going to lose. Goshi didn’t have a mother & the only parent she had, who would pray for her & worry for her was being sacrificed just like that because Goshi thought she was in love & her love needed her utmost attention.
The moment Goshi stepped out of her father’s home, I knew things would never be right for her & she actually was taking steps towards a life that she has never imagined. I actually thought it was wise of Saima’s mother to send Goshi away because she had already sensed that Goshi hasn’t married the right man & his background was a bit shady. It usually happens that when mothers come across such friends of their daughters who are involved in questionable situations, they make sure to draw a distance because they want to protect their daughters. Obviously, Saima didn’t understand the gravity of the situation that is why she wanted to help Goshi but her mother just exactly knew what she & her daughter would get into if they would agree to help Goshi by mistake.
The last resort for Goshi was contacting Suleri Sahab & just like that, he made things right for her. Even though Goshi herself sussed that everything that Suleri was doing for her & Shams was only because he must be having an ulterior motive, she chose to ignore it because she didn’t bother seeing the bigger picture & got satisfied with her short-lived happiness. Actually, I thought that it was only Shams who was under Suleri’s control but the way Mushtaq & his wife reacted when Suleri showed up at their doorstep went to show that he has a control over each & every member of Shams’s family. I think Suleri already has started playing games with the newly weds because just when Goshi asked him about Shams, he blatantly lied & said he had no idea where he was, whereas it was Suleri himself who told Shams to vanish into thin air. I think Suleri is quite far-sighted & that is why he told Shams to leave Goshi behind so that when she comes to seek help from him, he can save the day & be a hero in front of her & also to extend a favor to her so that when the time’s right, he can ask for a favor in return as well.
Honestly, I never knew that Shams would turn out to be such a puppet. Just because Suleri ordered him to settle down with Goshi, he chose to do that without questioning any further & he completely ignored Zareena. Shams himself isn’t being honest with Goshi, he might on her face that he fell for her but in real, she is just a responsibility imposed on him by Suleri that he is taking care of. I actually felt bad for Zareena because she really is in a difficult situation & she has no one who’d look after her. I think Suleri himself doesn’t see any potential in her that is why he didn’t bother telling Shams to take care of her as well. Also, it was heart breaking to see that when Suleri showed up, Zareena’s own sister started telling her off that Shams never belonged to her & also how she shouldn’t have high hopes in his regard, it showed that by the end of the day, it’s Suleri who runs things in their house!
It was actually heart breaking to see such a beautiful character of Fiaz meeting an end so soon. He died in a miserable state because he was so heart broken & almost lost that drive to live because he was hurt by Goshi. It was like Fiaz didn’t want to live because he knew he won’t be able to see Goshi facing any hardships in her life. Even though both Shams & Goshi share a very strong chemistry & the both were happy with each other, the way Goshi reached to that point didn’t allow me to enjoy her happiness. She was just being selfish & never once thought about her family. Goshi actually started living in a fool’s paradise when she saw things went her way so smoothly & that is why she didn’t even consider Zareena’s position for once & threw her out. Goshi always belittled Ilyas just because in her opinion he was a shopkeeper but why does she always forget that her father was a shopkeeper too & he earned a living for her through such simple means too. For her Ilyas was unacceptable but why didn’t she ever think that her father was the same too. Honestly speaking, I am interested to see how her bubble of self-proclaimed happiness will burst & how she will face the realities because then only she will understand that Ilyas was way better than Shams. It is interesting that Mushtaq has waged a war against his brother & I am sure it won’t end soon or at a good note & for that, I am looking forward to the next episode so eagerly.
As the preview suggested, things are totally going to turn upside down for Goshi & this time around, I am sure Suleri won’t help her too, even though I feel bad for her but after what she did to her family & especially her father, I think it’s just a karma’s way of getting back at her & soon enough just like Ilyas said, she will regret every decision that she has made so far. I so want to see how long will she be able to hold onto the ‘love’ that she thinks she feels for Shams after her life will become hard on her. I must say, I am totally impressed with the direction & also the acting. I think both Ahsan Khan & Hira have been commendable so far & they both have done justice to the characters of Shams & Goshi. Hira is emerging as a very strong actor & I somehow love her screen-presence, with or without heavy makeup, she is looking quite beautiful throughout the drama. It is too bad that we won’t get to see Irfan Khoosat anymore in this drama but despite it being a short performance by him, it was power-packed & stirred emotions every single time. I loved seeing him in Preet Na Kariyo Koi & now when the head of the family is gone, I do wish we do get to see Ilyas’s family every now & then. I must say all the supporting actors are doing a commendable job too & they are equally contributing in making this drama a complete package because each & everyone has a strong & unique role to play which is a rarity. Also, I think Rehan Sheikh has fitted the role perfectly & he is making Suleri look more intriguing & powerful! Full marks to the writer, the director, the actors & the whole creative team behind Preet Na Kariyo Koi, it for sure is a phenomenal drama. :) Please share your thoughts about tonight’s episode. :)
Mawra Hocane’s debut Bollywood film “Sanam Teri Kasam” has been in the news for a few weeks now after the poster of the film came out. Now the Pakistani fans and viewers will have much more to talk about since the trailer of the film shows that Mawra Hocane was very bold in the film. Talking about the shooting of the song Shakar Wandan. Mahira Khan said she had a fall and got injured a day before the shooting. She said,
“I rehearsed a lot for Shakar Wandan song and I was very sure that I was going to nail it but then you go to the sets and you fall on the second day of the shoot. Thank God I could come back on the set. The director said we will simmer the steps down. How could that be possible! It was Mehndi song, how could we simmer it down?”
Mahira Khan and all the others gave their best to this song. Even Shehryar Munawar fell while shooting for this song. Famous actress Nimra Bucha who is also a part of the film said Ho Mann Jahan is,
“The Rolls Royce of production!”
Here are some pictures from the show in which Mahira appeared.
For sure our actors/actresses possesses immense talent and each new entry enthrall us with their stunning performances. The fact cannot be denied that our actors/actresses are not only talented but they are hardworking as well and this contributes as a key success factor in making our dramas hit worldwide.
As new talent pours in everyday thereby increase competition, new entries fights to get mega project in order to showcase their skills. Undoubtedly skills gets undermined if script lacks depth and characters makes no sense at all, “Zidd”is the perfect example of it.
Like previous, in this year as well artists tried their efforts best towards their characters so that audience should not vent out. Hence artists who can conform well according to the characters deserve applauses.
As 2015 came to an end I have drafted out a list of ten those actors/actresses who have performed brilliantly in their respective projects.
10. Yumna Zaidi: She acted amazingly as a jolly girl in drama serial “Jugnoo”. There is nothing much to describe about her acting because of the fact that she never appeared in good dramas. Yumna really needs to work hard to mark her presence in the industry. Nevertheless her performance in Jugnoo was indeed appreciable that makes me mark her on top ten list of best actresses of 2015.
9. Zarnish Khan: She is another talented entrant in Pakistani Showbiz. Zarnish made her debut from drama serial “Muhabbat ab nahi hogi” alongside armeena rana khan as her younger sister. However her acting in Susral mera (soap) was so powerful that she is awarded as best actor female (soap) in Hum awards 2015 and this was literally her 2nd project. So in my opinion she deserves to be in top ten list of best actresses of 2015. In future I really want to see her in some good projects.
8. Sanam Jung: Sanam jung rose to prominence with her debut performance in drama serial “Dil-e-Muzter” which also earned her best television sensation female. Then with drama serial “Muhabbat subah ka sitara hai”, “Mere humdum mere dost” and “Alvida” she becomes a household name of the industry. Sanam Jung got kind of presence which makes people take notice. Indeed she is not only a great host but good actress as well.
7. Mahira Khan: The luck runs parallel with Mahira Khan. If you ponder over her career she had hardly done 5 to 6 projects and all those projects were hit. Whether you talk about “Shehr-e-zaat”, “humsafar” and recently “sadqey tumhaare”. I hope she will do more dramas in future.
6. Sana Javed: She is one of my favourite actress who also never failed to amaze audience with her exceptional acting skills. Her dialogue delivery and expressions are always spot on. Sana Javed is one of those actresses who has hardly faced criticism on her acting. She was without any doubt phenomenal in drama serial “Goya” which makes me include her on number 6th spot.
5. Saba Qamar: No one could have done justice with the role of Fareeda in drama serial “Digest writer” as Saba Qamar had portrayed with such perfection. With her dynamic personality and diverse portfolio she is still the queen of drama industry. Currently she is not picking good projects and I would like to see her more in future with some great projects.
4. Arij Fatyma: There are very few actresses in industry whose versatility cannot be questioned and Arij is one of them. She is one of those actresses who retains acting sense. Arij Fatyma never failed to enthrall audience with her impeccable performances. “Ishq parast” play wholly belongs to Arij’s tremendous performance.
3. Sarah Khan: From the start of her career Sarah Khan never impressed me as an actress. For sure she got the looks but I always thought that she needs to do lots of homework on her acting. With absolute stunning performance as negative character of Farisa in drama serial “Alvida” she finally proved me wrong. Her acting was so powerful in Alvida that in my opinion she deserves the number 3 spot as the best actress of 2015. Except “Alvida” she had done handy characters whereas fame requires some unique performance. Thus I want to see her performing some unique and difficult character in future.
2. Armeena Rana Khan: She is not only pretty but talented as well. Although armeena had not done handful projects but due to her charismatic personality and great acting skills she has marked her presence in the industry. She rose to eminence from drama serial “muhabbat ab nahi hogi” and again she won the hearts of audience with her performance in drama serial “ishq parast”.
1. Maya Ali: Year 2015 definitely belongs to Maya Ali, her performance in both projects “Diyar-e-Dil”and”Mera Naam Yousuf Hai”deserve applauses. She really worked hard and you can hardly find any loopholes in her acting in both projects. Maya Ali had surely struggled a long way to achieve this success and to make her mark in industry. Undoubtedly she is currently on peak of her career.
Hence my list for best actresses 2015 ends here, I know some of you may agree and some may disagree on it. Please give your opinion.
PS: THE BEST ACTORS 2015 LIST WILL BE FOLLOWED SHORTLY
The pace of the drama slowed down slightly in these two episodes but it still managed to hold my interest for a number of reasons. The first and the most important reason has to be the way the lead characters have been etched-out and the manner in which they have been translated on screen. Sara Khan and Faisal Qureshi both own their respective roles. You understand their characters and have absolutely no problem connecting to them. I must say that I am especially impressed by Sara Khan’s acting because it is not easy to grab the attention of the viewers when you are working with someone like Faysal Qureshi who has an incredible screen presence. The characters are different from what we see in dramas all the time – they are intelligent people with flaws who are caught in a difficult situation.
The presence of characters that add positivity to the drama is another aspect of this play which makes it different from many of the other dramas that are on air currently. Fariha’s parents’ attitude is a breath of fresh air. Unlike many other parents we see in dramas who are always worried about their daughters because they somehow or the other see them as a burden, these parents have faith in their daughter and are concerned for her and her husband’s well being. The reason they are looking out for their daughter is not because they are scared that if her marriage falls apart it will be a problem for them but it is because they love their daughter and want to do whatever they can to ensure her happiness.
Azlan’s character is very intriguing. Azlan is egoistic and no matter how worse his situation gets he cannot just change himself overnight. His attitude is wrong but that’s just who he is. There was a time when this confidence in his decisions earned him all the wealth he had but once his circumstances changed this aspect of his personality became his biggest obstacle. Azlan convinced himself to change but only when it was too late. When he had a job, he could not keep it and when he didn’t have the money to afford the apartment he refused to move out of it until he had absolutely no choice. When Azlan had enough money he considered it his responsibility to look after his family, to give them the very best and now that he cannot do that his ego won’t allow him to take favors from his in laws who he always looked down upon. Azlan has a lot of weaknesses but what I love about his character is that it is very real. He is not evil but he is just another person with a lot of flaws. When he was rich these flaws were easy to cover but now that his situation has changed these flaws are his biggest weakness. He did not plan to be in this situation and due to his nature he is having a very tough time adjusting to these changing circumstances.
Fariha, on the other hand has always been shown as someone who was practical. Fariha tried looking for practical solutions to the problems they were facing but Azlan’s “mein kuch krta hu” nature did not allow her to do much. Fariha’s decision to move to her parent’s house came only after she knew that Azlan was ignoring the obvious. She did not want to be forced out of the apartment therefore she moved out before the landlord came. Just like Azlan’s character, Fariha’s character is not perfect. Unlike many other perfect wives, we don’t see her putting up with everything silently. She tries her best to be there for her husband and keep things from falling apart but eventually she gets frustrated. While Sara Khan’s acting is flawless, I must say that like many other actresses she did not compromise on her looks! Fariha’s hairstyles and perfect make-up seems out of place considering the situation she is in. Sara Khan has a beautiful face and very pretty hair, even a soft blow dry and some foundations would do wonders for her. The curls and the heavy make-up is distracting to say the least.
Azlan’s friend Asad is another positive character in the play and he might have a bigger role to play in the story in the future. Ayesha’s character however is one which this drama could have done without.
These two episodes focused on how gradually Azlan and Fariha’s relations deteriorate mainly due to the clash in their personalities and Azlan’s failure to accept his situation. With the latest development regarding Fariha’s health, things will only get worse for Azlan and Fariha. This dramas shows how a man’s failure to accept his circumstances effects his entire life. It shows the struggle of a man who has always achieved what he desired but is now in a situation in which he is completely helpless. Overall, Naraz is different from rest of the dramas which are on air right now. It deals with marital problems but the fact that these marital problems are not saas bahu fights and the man for a change is the focus of attention too changes everything. Faysal Qureshi has brought out the best in his character; Azlan’s flaws are as clear as daylight but you can’t help but feel for and understand his character.

Veena Malik’s life took a turn for the better when she decided to get married and start a new life which is completely different from the one she had before she got married. There was a time when Veena Malik was only in the news when there was some controversy surrounding her but now we see Veena in the news because she is the perfect example of someone who has changed her priorities completely. Veena Malik never tweets about showbiz related matter now but all her tweets are about her family. She is enjoying being a mother and a wife. Veena Malik said that she has the perfect and complete family and she is very happy with her life.
Here are some tweets and status updates that show how happy she is with her life.
Here are some beautiful pictures of Veena Malik with her family.
Ohkay so, things are progressing quickly in this drama for now & I like how the script has been conducted so far. Yes, even though this drama has a been there, seen that feel to it, I still kind of enjoy watching it because the protagonist is quite amusing & I like watching her. I am interested to see how her life will unfold & what is in store for her.
Quite typically, Ali’s mother turned out to be the sort of a mother-in-law any girl & girl’s mother would dread. She made it very obvious that she wasn’t happy with how Ali & Nadia on their own decided to get married. In stead of blaming her son she blamed Nadia for getting ahead with the whole situation quickly. I think Ali’s mother herself saw how eager Ali was so she should’ve held him responsible. She didn’t leave the opportunity to make it very clear to Nighat that she isn’t too thrilled by the idea of Ali & Nadia’s marriage but somehow Ali saved the day & with his sincerity, convinced Nighat that he really wants to be with Nadia. I hope after marriage he keeps up with all the promises that he is making to both Nighat & Nadia because in my opinion, his mother won’t let things be smooth for both of them & I do feel Ali will end up succumbing to his mother’s pressures!
I liked how both Nadia & Sadia used the reverse psychology on Hareem, where they tried to stop her from going out but just because she wanted to make a point that she doesn’t listen to anyone & does what she deems fit, she went ahead with Areeba. So far, it has been made very clear that Hareem is quite gullible & she herself doesn’t know how easily she can get tricked into doing things that other expect from her. Her sisters wanted her out of the house till Ali & his mother would’ve stayed & Hareem ended up helping them with the situation. She happened to meet Fahad & the way he showed more interest in her huge car made it quite obvious that he is after Hareem’s wealth & he happens to be quite an opportunist. I somehow feel that even Fahad has pretty much understood that Hareem is very innocent & naive, that is why he has his eyes on her because he knows she’ll be an easy target.
I don’t understand why Nighat always feels the need to belittle Hareem in front of Nadia & Sadia. I don’t think she would ever discuss Nadia or Sadia’s weaknesses in front of Hareem so why does she do that when it comes to her? I don’t think Nighat is being fair in treating all her daughters equally. She clearly has her favorites & they are Nadia & Sadia & sadly when it comes to Hareem, she has nothing good to say about her. The way Nighat carries herself, she shows that she is an educated woman, so I really don’t understand why can’t she be a little more wise when it comes to treating Hareem? I think Nighat has missed the point that the moment she handed Hareem over to Shabbir & Zahida, she gave them the responsibility & allowed them to raise her whatever way they deemed fit, so now when she is back Nighat doesn’t leave an opportunity to show it to Hareem that she is unhappy with almost everything about her. Nighat shouldn’t be so hard on Hareem because she has not only lost her father, but she has lost her mother, all the luxuries & comforts of life that she was used to & she has all of a sudden stepped out of her comfort zone, so if she is a little more defensive & bitter, Nighat should treat her with respect. All this while, Nighat tried to project that she was incomplete without Hareem & she really wanted her back but ever since she has come back, I haven’t seen her being happy about the fact that she gets to be with Hareem now & in stead Nighat is making it very obvious that Hareem’s presence is bothering her. I find Nighat irrational when she speaks to Hareem harshly because Hareem is just a kid who has always lived in a bubble, who has always been treated like a princess so if she is used to that sort of a treatment then that’s not her fault & if Nighat can’t extend that to her, the least she can do is be a bit more patient & polite with her because that’s the only way she’ll be able to build a healthy relationship with Hareem, who happens to be her daughter as well.
Even though Salma doesn’t have much to contribute to the story, I like her for the fact that she sympathizes with Zahida & understands what she is going through. Even though she is bound by her husband but every now & then she tries to help Zahida & make her understand that she shouldn’t give up on anything that belongs to her. I am sure Salma will be the one who will reunite Hareem & Zahida, but for now, it is really hard on Zahida to be without Hareem, her daughter who she has raised for 23 years.
I like Hareem’s character for the fact that she is honest & clean-hearted, she speaks what is on her mind & she doesn’t believe in telling lies, that is why she was very clear in getting her point across that she was ticked off at Nadia’s engagement because she wants to get married to a guy like Ali. It is too obvious that she is falling for a wrong guy & I really think she deserves someone better because what has happened in her life is not her fault at all. She has been a victim of circumstances & her life has already become a bit too tough for her. I am sure she will be forced to face the consequences of falling for a guy like Fahad but I hope she comes out of every such situation with her head held high & deals with hardships bravely.
Overall, this episode was interesting too & I had a good time watching it. I must say, I love the way Sanam Chaudhry gesticulates, she really has adapted the body language of a girl who belongs to a small town but is trying to show to everyone around her that she is confident enough. I really like her acting because you actually can see the expressions in her eyes, it’s like her eyes talk most of the time & I really am glad that I decided to watch this drama by seeing the glimpse of Hareem’s character in the promos. Everyone else is doing a great job too. Can’t wait to see the next episode. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Tere Mere Beech. :)
Maya Ali and Osman Khalid Butt won many hearts when they walked the ramp few days ago in Fashion Pakistan Week. Fans could not stop praising this jodi and the pictures of their walk were shared everywhere. Now again this hit on screen couple and off screen best friends walked the ramp together in Bridal Couture Week for the well known designer Maria.B. The pictures of their ramp walk are already being shared by the fans over and over again.
Maya Ali and Osman Khalid Butt wore beautifully designed outfits. They looked amazing and happy together as usual. Quratulain Baloch was also seen in the picture, she sang the vocals while these two walked on the ramp.
Here are some pictures from the ramp walk of the hit couple and some pictures from backstage and practicing on stage.
LOL! I actually took a cup of black coffee to prepare myself to go through this torture named Tumhare Siwa & now when the episode has ended, I am going to grab another cup as I need it again to numb the headache that this drama has caused. Oh my, Samra is such a poor soul & the life is so tough on her, so so tough that she is making it tougher for us all too but you know what, I am having a hard time having sympathy for her because, she is not using her brains & isn’t smart enough to fend for herself that is why she is now being a burden on everyone around her like her husband, her sautan & her viewers too!!!
Honestly speaking, I am not sure who in what mental state told Mustafa Changezi that he could act & I am not sure who & in what mental state hired him to play this role? He is so expressionless that his even his eyes look blank & expressionless & to see him furrowing his brows to erupt some expression on his face was actually giving me a headache. Honestly boy, at this tender age, the world’s your oyster, you still have enough time & chance to make a career switch because acting is not your cup of tea but yes, I’d thank you for making me laugh with your expressionless-ness & the helplessness that you displayed when you were told by your Jeeja to get out of his office. I couldn’t stop laughing that a guy who was so furious ran out of Aazar’s office even faster than his fury after getting a mild shut up call from him. I find it really hard to believe that Rania never ever ever in the first 13 episodes informed her dupatta-less mother & her expression-less brother about the insurance fraud that she was planning on committing because to see them worrying sick about her all of a sudden after 13 episodes is a bit hard to absorb!
Aazar is ‘supposedly’ having a hard time whereas the way he’s reacting goes to show that he is pretty much happy & settled in this new routine of taking care of Samra & Naani all by himself. I really don’t understand the majboori he refers to every single time because right now his utmost priority should be clarifying the misunderstanding that has risen between him & his first cheesy weird love wife Rania but he is a bit too concerned about Samra? Also, by showing him in a uniform after 15 episodes doesn’t really justify that he is a pilot because he ain’t flying anymore & oh by the way, this time around, even that aeroplane poster was missing from the offices that they showed!!! LOL!
Oh well, I miss nintendo days because when I was Daada’s age, I had one of those to play with but to see Apple iPhone in his hands was annoying & what’s more annoying is seeing him misusing it for his age where he is calling his father like a boss!!! Also, I must say Daada’s timing is perfect, he happened to blurt out the secret about his father that he was at Samra Aunty’s place just when his mommy entered his room. Once again, the writer is pushing all the wrong buttons here by depending on these not to immature & child-like kids to take the story forward. Also, Naani’s fixation with her Papa # 2 is beyond me. I think she takes it after her mother because she knows every the tact of emotional blackmailing. She keeps on using her Papa # 1 as a reference to blackmail her Papa # 2 & what’s funny is that Samra cries buckets in stead of stopping her daughter from being such a nuisance & yes, I say nuisance because Naani then informed Rania that her Papa # 2 was the one who tucked her in bed last night & Samra was standing there like she has no control over this aunt who happens to be her 8 y/o daughter, like seriously, why didn’t I hear Samra say to Naani ke apne kaam se kaam rakho beta, pre-mature aunty na bano!!!
You know what? After seeing Baber’s bad-neeyati about Samra, I thought I had seen it all in this drama but they surprised me even more by showing the blooming comfort level between the newly weds Samra & Aazar & I guess that wasn’t all that that they intended to show, there’s more to it as they suggested in the promo of the next episode where Baber will attack Samra & Aazar will find her in more miserable condition than she actually is & I am sure he will fall in love with his damsel in distress!!! How new right?
It is so frustrating seeing Samra worrying about her situation without moving a muscle to make it any better. Like when she knows that she can not afford such a huge house, so why doesn’t she move to a small apartment & live life peacefully there? Obviously with Arsal gone, she doesn’t need such a huge space so to see her falling short of such a common sense forces me not to sympathize with her, at all. Also that whole siskiyaan on the phone call to Aazar & speaking to Arsal’s photo later made no sense whatsoever. They are trying to show that she is sort of getting over her previous husband & is now unconsciously depending on her new husband & this wholeee transition is absolutely ridiculous. She actually has asked for a divorce but the pain that she carried on her face while requesting that from Aazar went to show that she herself doesn’t want that to happen. Samra officially has entered the brain-dead zone for me. Period!
I really don’t understand why isn’t Aazar even trying to talk to Rania? She left the house without notifying him so when he got to know about it, what has he done to rectify the situation? Aazar has even stopped calling Rania & with this sort of ignorance, he’s making it look like he was waiting for Rania to leave so that he could become Samra’s husband wholeheartedly. Also, why is Tania so out of control? Why doesn’t Aazar keep a check on his sister that she goes around blurting whatever she wants & interferes in his life like it’s her business!!!
This script was hideous to begin with & the way it has been directed doesn’t make it any better. I am just wondering what the producers at Hum TV were thinking when they decided to produce this drama? Like seriously? After having such a huge experience in the dramas & having a complete know how of what appeals the most to the viewers, they decided to produce this crap? This is something that I am unable to digest & also, the actors all the actors who’re working in this drama are well-known faces & are those people who themselves have worked in amazing dramas, so what were they all thinking? This drama has crossed all the limits of sensibility & reasonability. I think they should end it ASAP! Please share your thoughts about it!
Our hero has fallen in love with the girl of his dreams. Adeel is attracted to Gul-e-Rana because unlike all the other girls around him she does not want to marry him and now that Rana has openly told Adeel that she is not interested in him, she has become unattainable therefore even more desirable. Adeel believes in getting what he wants even if he has to resort to extreme tactics to get it. This episode showed how desperately Adeel wants Gul-e-Rana in his life. He managed to stop his phupo, was there every time Zafri tried to get close to Rana and in the end declared his love for her. Laila and Maria’s scenes remained the same as all the other episodes. You see them fighting over the remote or perhaps breakfast and they are always trying to score points with Adeel.
Just like all the previous episodes the scenes between Adeel and Rana were not very convincing or clear. The scene in which Adeel puts the necklace on his cousin and Gul-e-Rana watches him do that was utterly confusing. The looks Adeel and Rana exchanged made it look like Rana was disappointed in Adeel and he felt the need to explain himself to her. Rana had no reason to look at Adeel when her phupo announced the proposal, it suggested that Rana expected Adeel to get effected by this news. Rana does not like Adeel but we are led to believe that she is somewhat ‘fascinated’ by him too. She is very aware of his presence and his interest in her and is not doing a very good job of ignoring him! The way Sajjal Ali has translated this character on screen reminds me a lot of Rameen who always kept you confused about her personality and her relationship with Numair. Even when Gul-e-Rana tells Adeel off she does not come across as a strong person but as someone who has no idea when to take a stand and when to ignore something.
I don’t understand the obsession with chai at all! There is so much talk about chai in every episode. Last week we saw Zafri begging his sister to make tea and in this one Adeel wanted Rana to make tea for him and when she refused Munira aunty made the perfect tea. Later on we saw Maria trying to prove no one could make tea like her!! Surely an affluent household like that of Adeel’s can afford a better cook than Gulab Khan who can make decent chai! I won’t be surprised if Adeel is bent on getting married to Rana because he wants to drink good chai for the rest of his life!!
Gul-e-Rana’s script lacks depth, the characters are unappealing and the happenings quite predictable. It is the kind of drama which you can easily follow by watching the promos of every episode. I haven’t been able to connect to any of the characters in the play so far and the preview of the next episode also did not give much hope. The relationship between Adeel and Rana will get abusive which cannot possibly be something to look forward to. Sajjal Ali should stop playing these roles ASAP, somehow directors think she is the perfect candidate for playing characters in which the leading lady gets abused verbally and physically. None of the other actresses of Sajjal’s stature have ever been treated as abusively on television as Sajjal has been. She really needs to do something different. Sajjal Ali looked absolutely stunning in the birthday scene, I wish and hope that this delicate and beautiful actress will give her fans something new to watch soon! Until then we will just have to do with watching her play characters like Rameen and Rana.

According to the latest news Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol will be appearing as guests on HUM’s Morning Show “Jago Pakistan Jago” to promote their upcoming comeback film as an on screen couple “Dilwale”. Shaista will also be interviewing the side cast of Dilwale so it appears.
Bridal Couture Week has started in full swing with all the best designers showcasing their designs and the top models displaying these designs on the ramp. It is always good to see these models adorning the clothes designed by such talented people in a way that adds something special to them. The clothes themselves are beautiful but so is the way these women carry them.
Here are some pictures from Day 1 of Bridal Couture Week:
Mahira Khan has been in the news a lot lately because of her upcoming Pakistani film and because of her first Bollywood venture too. This time she has made it to the news for something entirely different but equally good. Mahira Khan has been ranked the 10th most sexy Asian Woman through a poll conducted by UK-based newspaper Eastern Eye. Priyanka Chopra topped the list.
The newspaper has been publishing this list for 10 years now and this is the first time that Mahira Khan made it to the list. Deepika Padukone, who is also a very famous Indian actress was ranked fourth on the list. Last year Katrina Kaif topped the list but this year she was ranked 5th. Kareena Kapoor came 7th on the list. Mehreen Syed is another Pakistani model who has been part of the list for few years now. She was ranked 38th this year. The first Pakistani model to make it to top 10 however was Eman Ali. Mehwish Hayat was also ranked among top 10 in 2008 and also 2009.
Hadiqa Kiyani was also in the list in the year 2009. Humaima Malik was also in the list in the years 2013 and 2014.
While talking to NDTV Priyanka Chopra shared how she felt about winning this title. She said,
“Now that’s a title I’m happy to hold on to. I’m bringing sexy back. A big thank you to those who have voted for me. Also, thank you to Eastern Eye for making me feel sexy. Well, at least for another year. A piece of advice to the ladies – it’s all in the mind. Remember, sexy is as sexy does.”
A lot happened in these few episodes but Farwa hasn’t learned anything from everything that happened between her and Gogi in particular. The viewers were also kept in the dark about Gogi’s true intentions or his next move. Sir Mustansar kept on trying to save his marriage because he was very sure that Gogi would easily fall for any other girl. There were times when the viewers were led to believe that Sir Mustansar was succeeding but Gogi kept on coming back to Farwa for some reason or the other. Even when he left Farwa alone in the middle of the night and Mustansar was the one who was there for her at that time Farwa couldn’t tell the difference between these two men. Gogi is fun and easy going and Farwa can connect to him more easily but Mustansar is the kind of man who will stand by his woman. Farwa does not see a life partner in her husband and nothing that Mustansar does can change that.
Silky was given the assignment of making Gogi fall in love with her but she ended up falling for him. Surraya’s desperate attempts to win Gazanfar back had to be the most off putting and boring moments of all these episodes. Surraya’s character doesn’t quite fit in with all the other characters which have so many different shades and are overall much more than just another one of those characters you see in dramas all the time! Silky’s character on the other hand is turning out to be a strong one. She thinks positively and definitely deserves a good ending too.
Gogi’s meeting with Farwa’s parents was definitely the highlight of the latest episode! This man never fails to impress you, he is a great actor! The entire meeting was very well directed, scripted and acted out – very entertaining! Asma and Junaid are back in the picture and just like all the other people in this drama Asma too will do anything to make sure that Farwa and Gogi never get married. Everything that Junaid said in his meeting with Gogi came as a pleasant surprise. I couldn’t help but feel for Mustansar who has been led down by not one by two women. While Farwa’s faith in Gogi is genuine and you don’t want to see her getting hurt but at the same time you do not want Mustansar to end up alone. The things Gogi said about Farwa’s parents were absolutely hilarious!
Farwa Ki ABC has always given me something to laugh about and at the same time there are always dialogues which sometimes even come from a character like Gogi which give you a lot to reflect upon. The story has always been unpredictable and even now it is impossible to guess how it will end or unfold in the upcoming episodes. Some of the scenes which focused on Mustansar and Surraya seemed repetitive in these episodes but overall the variety of characters keeps you engaged. Gogi is always there to save the day if no one else gives you something to cherish! Ahmed Hassan and Sonia Hussain have been phenomenal in their respective roles and Adnan Jaffar always manages to do complete justice to all the characters he plays. It is good to see him taking up different roles and giving a brilliant performance every time.
Will Gogi sacrifice his love because he does not want to break rules or hearts any more? I am still wondering why this drama is titled Farwa Ki ABC because in these 19 episodes Farwa hasn’t gained a single lesson from everything she has gone through. She remains the careless and happy go lucky girl she was in the first episode. It would have been good to see some character development by now.
Ho Mann Jahan is an upcoming film releasing on the 1st January 2015.
The music of the film is released on 1st November 2015 having nine songs in a variety of voices. Asrar, Atif Aslam, Tina Saani, Jimmy Khan, Zoheb Hassan, Zebunnisa Bangash have provided the vocals.
The videos of the two songsShakkar Wandan and Dil Kare are already released. The video of third song Baarish in the voice of Jimmy Khan is released today.
So far the perception about the film was of being a triangle love story, however the song suggest it is a square not triangle as Sonia Jehan is also paired with Sheharyar Munnawar in this film.
Mahira Khan’s character in her upcoming Pakistani film is named “Manizeh”. Mahira has been invited to a lot of Morning Shows but she has never talked about her character in the film till now. Today Mahira Khan was invited to “Satrangi” in which she talked about her character in “Ho Mann Jahan” and what was the response of the fans when the team went to different colleges and universities to promote their film.
Talking about her character, Mahira Khan said that Manizeh was,
“Confident, secure, determined. She will be an inspiration for all the young girls out there. I would say that even I am not like that but I wish I was and many other young girls who will watch this film will find themselves wishing they were more like Manizeh.”
When Javeria Saud asked Mahira Khan about the love and reaction she gets when she goes out with the rest of the team to promote her film, she had a totally different story to tell! She said,
“Forget about my fans, boys are much more contained. Sheheryar and Adeel’s female fans are the ones who make all the noise and grab them in a way that sometimes I feel they will rip their shirts off. We let girls get away with a lot of things so they do many things which boys cannot dream of doing.”
Sonya Jahan has also joined the “Ho Mann Jahan” team in promoting the film. She was also there to talk about the film and her experience in the Morning Show.

Another episode, another misunderstanding! That pretty much sums it up! The good thing about this latest episode was that it gave a glimmer of hope that this drama might be ending very soon. We found out today that Ayesha threw Sangat in the bin! Wasn’t Eidhi ka jhoola a better option? I completely understand Ayesha’s state of mind but it would have been good to see this woman mustering up the courage to give everything up and move out of the house. Right from the start we have seen Ayesha protecting other people around her, for once we need to see her looking after her own self. She should turn to her mother for support. Adnan’s reaction is realistic but it is not pleasant to watch. It is disturbing watching him turn to alcohol for comfort. While the man plays the victim and wants to escape the situation, the real victim is left to look out for him, for herself and for her daughter!
The story is going around in circles and honestly speaking at this point I don’t even care how it ends! This episode focused mainly on how the recent developments have effected Ayesha’s thought process and her relationship with Adnan. Sangat’s disappearance and what happened afterwards was quite predictable. Hopefully this would be the last time that Sangat’s disappearance is used to add some more outbursts and twists in the story. Zubeida aunty’s concern for Shahwez and her complete lack of interest in her own son in law came across as strange as usual but definitely not surprising!! When she called Ayesha to inquire about Adnan, I was quite sure it wasn’t Adnan she was worried about! Ayesha’s confrontation with Shahwez in which she tells him he was aik thappar ki maar could have been far more powerful if Shahwez didn’t appear to be dead scared of Ayesha! It is almost as if the writer and the director on bent on focusing on Shahwez’s “saza” just as much as that of Ayesha’s! While I do not feel an ounce of sympathy for Shahwez, I have always felt everything Ayesha has ever gone through. The only saving grace of this drama has to be Saba Qamar’s superb acting which has been top notch right from the first episode.
There was a time when I had hope that we would see Shahwez getting punished but tonight’s episode and the preview of the next one clearly showed that this punishment is not going to be one which many of us have been hoping for. Staying in Zubeida aunty’s house in Ayesha’s room is going to be Shahwez’s punishment which really does not resonate with me!! Shahwez tried yet again to leave aunty Zubeida’s house but it is like a curse which won’t leave him! I find it very difficult to relate to his situation, if this man could go ahead and ruin someone’s life single handedly, he can most certainly break a few more hearts to earn Ayesha’s forgiveness!
Shahwez’s meeting with Ayesha’s mother in law went to show how much aunties love this guy and they somehow think he is the perfect person to lecture! I found that scene entirely senseless! Shahwez has to be around for some reason or the other every time something of great consequence happens in Ayesha’s life which seems like a little too much of a coincidence!
The drama has reached a point where you find yourself wishing the next episode would be the last one! We have seen enough of everything – the confrontations, the emotional turmoil and the ups and downs, time to wrap it up guys!

Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor’s wedding was the most talked about wedding of last year. It over shadowed all the other events that were held at around the same time. People only wanted to see Ayeza and Danish together and couldn’t stop talking about them. Ayeza and Danish were never this popular individually as they were as a couple. While Danish Taimoor’s career took off after the wedding with him being part of films and taking up more projects Ayeza Khan completely disappeared from dramas and wasn’t even seen in talk shows. Ayeza Khan made the first appearance in a talk show with Danish Taimoor and their daughter Hoorain in Ek Nayee Subha With Farah.
Farah Hussain recently revamped her Morning Show and inviting Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor to her show was part of this desire to bring something to the show which will attract everyone’s attention. While talking about why Ayeza Khan left acting altogether after getting married she said,
“People blame my husband for it but that is not true at all. I didn’t take up any new projects after I got married because it was the beginning of a new life with a new family and I wanted to dedicate my time to the family. After that I was expecting Hoorain so I could not take up any work.”
Danish Taimoor has been very busy with shooting and promoting his films so it is an obvious question if he had time for Ayeza. Ayeza said,
“Danish really pampered me when I was expecting Hoorain. He is never busy when he is at work, he is only busy when he is with his family. I married Danish because I knew no one else could take care of me like he does. It is only when I step outside the house I realize what a big star he is otherwise he helps me out in the house and is very supportive.”
Talking about their private life, Ayeza said,
“We are not stars at home, it is nice of people that they give us attention and love but that does not mean we should forget our responsibilities as family members. We do not consider ourselves stars that is why we share our personal lives in the form of pictures with our fans.”
Danish Taimoor also shared some of his fears he had when he was going to get married,
“When I was going to get married I was thinking maybe my female fan following will decrease after marriage but I was surprised when it increased.”
Ayeza Khan said that her relationships and marriage comes first and fan following is second. She said,
“I was more worried about my marriage than my work. Just wanted everything to be alright with us. If you are meant to do a work and succeed in it then it will happen, I couldn’t delay my marriage because of my work.”
Danish Taimoor said that family always come first so he never works on Sundays. He said,
“Family always comes first. If you are head of the family, you are responsible for your family.”

Beqasoor is primarily the story of Waseem’s household. Waseem’s second wife Sadaf (Samina Peerzada) plays an important role in the story but not one that is free of clichés. Waseem married Sadaf after her husband Shehryar (Sajjid Hassan) divorced her unexpectedly because she gave birth to a girl. Sadaf does her best to run Waseem’s house the way he wants and raises his daughter Sehr (Aiman Khan) in the best way possible. Waseem gives Sadaf the status of a wife and looks after her and her daughter but he never gives them the respect they deserve. He is a completely different person with his own daughter and even his sister (Javeria Abbasi). Sadaf and her daughter Hira (Saboor Ali) however are thankful and love Waseem genuinely too. In a strange twist of fate Sadaf’s past comes to haunt her when her step-daughter Sehr marries her ex-husband. Sehr doesn’t know who he is and marries him only for his money!
Waseem’s character is a lot like many other characters which Waseem Abbas has played before too. Waseem’s double standards remind you of the role he played in the drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai. His overall attitude towards his second wife and step daughter reminds you of the character he played in drama serial Main Bushra. There is absolutely nothing new about his character or acting which is sad because he is a very talented actor who can play any role given to him with perfection. Somehow directors have confided him to these roles in which he is shown as a failure as a husband and a father. He played a similar role in Mera Naam Yousuf Hai too.
Sadaf’s character is that of a wise woman who is a victim of unfortunate circumstances. This character too is a lot like the character Samina Peerzada played in the drama serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Sadaf isn’t just another one of those bechari women we see on screen but just like Rafia of Zindagi Gulzar Hai she is highly sensible and quite capable of being brave but she does not allow her strength to show. She wants to hold on to this man and this marriage and is very scared of losing him. She feels guilty for not raising Sehr well although it is not her fault that Sehr turned out to be the way she is. I cannot complain about Samina Peerzada’s acting because that would be unfair but I must say that after watching her play the role of a very strong woman in Rehaii, it seems like she is being wasted playing these roles which any other actress could have played. There is however no denying the fact that the grace with which Samina Peerzada translates all her characters on screen is unparallel.
Hira is a nice girl – sometimes she appears to be too good to be true. She is the perfect child in every way and is a complete opposite of her step-sister. Saboor Ali wears too much make-up in all these episodes which does not go well with some situations or even with her character. Her acting is quite average and somehow she comes across as a ‘meesni’ instead of someone nice who you would like!! The character of course is meant to show the contrast between the two sisters and Hira is definitely the ideal daughter but there is nothing about her character or acting that makes her stand out in the crowd.
Muneeb Butt plays the role of Babar who likes Hira and wants to marry her. He is a very nice person just like Hira but just like her there is nothing about his character or acting that truly impresses you.
Sehr is materialistic and selfish but it is truly refreshing watching Aiman Khan play this role. I must say that every episode of this play has belonged to Sehr and Aiman Khan right from the get-go. Even though Aiman’s character has no positive traits but the actress still manages to have a screen presence which makes you want to watch this drama for her alone. Also, you do see Sehr as a young girl who really does not know any better especially because she cannot see beyond materialistic things. Her marriage with Sheheryar was purely based on her love for money. Right now Sheheryar’s house and car and pampering are making everything work but gradually Sehr will realize what has done was very wrong.
Sheheryar’s character has been played brilliantly by Sajjid Hassan. He is just as selfish as Sehr but the difference between them is that Sheheryar is old enough to know better! He divorced his wife in the middle of the road because she gave birth to a girl and had no problem getting married to a girl who was old enough to be his daughter. Even now he flirts with other girls and he does not feel like he is ‘committed’ to Sehr in any way.
Javeria Abbasi’s character is clichéd to the core – she is a drama queen and someone who is very reckless with her life but I must say that I find her character and acting both very amusing. We have always seen Javeria Abbasi play more refined roles therefore it is good to see her in a different avatar even if the character isn’t unique in any way!
Beqasoor is crowded with characters that are black and white. People who are nice can do no wrong and others seem to be completely self-absorbed and incapable of loving someone. Although the story of the play revolves primarily around Sadaf’s character but it is Sehr’s track and the way Aiman Khan has portrayed her character on screen which keeps your interest alive in the drama. Saboor Ali’s acting and character both are unimpressive to say the least. The negative characters in the play keep your interest alive and the other characters remain predictable and boring throughout these 5 episodes. The director has kept the scenes short and to the point. I especially liked the use of sunlight in many scenes. This drama of course comes with a big warning because it has been produced by Big Bang Entertainment!

Ohkay so, production of Momina Duraid, writing of Aliya Bukhari & direction of Shehzad Kashmiri; Mana Ka Gharana hit our TV screens tonight. Honestly speaking, the promos enticed me to give this drama a go & to be honest, I actually liked the very first episode. The only thing that still keeps me a from expecting much from this drama is the writer herself because she happens to have Aahista Aahista & Mausam to her credit, but on the other hand Shehzad Kashmiri is known for working in quality projects, so I hope that the reason why Shehzad Kashmiri decided to direct Mana Ka Gharana was because it happened to be a good script & it is because of him that I am giving this drama a chance to see how it evolves & also in a hope that this time around Aliya Bukhari has come up with something different, interesting & great.
Mana Ka Gharana actually includes Mana’s (Sana Javed) father Ghalib (Humayun Fazal Chaudhry), her mother Saleha (Raheela Agha), her cousin Khizer (Shehroz Sabzwari) & her paternal uncle Maalik (Shamil Khan). They all are a close knit family & they happen to live in a small hill station. Ghalib & Maalik are Khizer’s maternal uncles & looks like after Khizer’s parents passed away, Ghalib decided to raise Khizer himself. Khizer is a patissier, he owns a bakery named ‘Bakeology’ & he is very passionate about his job. It looks like Khizer is a bit mature & responsible for his age & he is doing really well for himself. Also it was too evident that Khizer has a soft spot for Mana & he believes in doing every little thing that Mana asks him to because he wants to make her happy.
Maalik happens to be a professor & looks like he has a daunting past that has forced him to resort to isolation. Even though he shares a very cordial relation with everyone in the family, he likes to maintain his distance & isolation in order to deal with his stuff himself. As far as I could understand, Maalik was once betrayed by someone that he truly loved & that is why he has become quite bitter when it comes to females & doesn’t believe in coming in contact with them ever, even if she happens to be a house maid.
Saleha has worked really hard to keep the whole family together & just because of her compassionate nature, she decides to invite Ghalib’s first cousin Zarri (Erum Akhtar) who is being ill treated by her own sister in law. Zarri grabs the opprtunity & informs them that she has decided to shift to their home for good & that’s when everyone starts worrying about Maalik’s reaction as they know he doesn’t like any sort of interference & can’t tolerate anyone’s presence in his home. Maalik finds out about Zarri’s plans after she arrives & that’s when he decides that he won’t be staying in the same house. Ghalib tries to persuade Maalik so that he can be a bit more understanding about Zarri’s tough circumstances but he doesn’t budge at all.
That’s where the first episode ended but I liked how they introduced all the characters & told us about their natures. Mana is a care-free girl but when it comes to her family, she is quite considerate, like she was worried for her uncle Maalik & she was also concerend about Khizer’s work. I really liked the relation both Khizer & Mana share, they are just like typical cousins who fall in the same age bracket which allows them to be friends with each other without any formalities. Zarri’s character seemed a bit mysterious & I am sure she is going to change the dynamics of Mana’s Gharana because she seems to be a bit opinionated & doesn’t hold back in voicing out her opinions.
Overall the first episode was quite impressive & I had a good time watching it. There were a little comical moments that evoked a smile & this is what I feel made things a bit relatable & realistic because even in our daily lives, we do experience such moments. I loved the locations that they have chosen & the direction was superb. The production value was great which is a done deal for any drama that makes its way on Hum TV. The camera quality was crisp & the visuals were beautiful. I also loved the house they have chosen as their location, there was something earthly & warm about it. Sana Javed looked beautiful & it was refreshing to see Erum Akhtar back after such a long time. She has been out of the picture for quite some while now but I am glad she has decided to make an appearance again. I really liked the look Shamil Khan is sporting, he really looks refined & mature because of that. I didn’t like the OST that much & I hope it isn’t used a lot in the episodes to come because it can get a bit overbearing I feel. Just a little thing that I felt was odd was a little too much usage of English in their communication, they all belong to a small town & yes, they are educated but the way they spoke didn’t really suggest that they belonged to that place as their language was more like what we hear in the cities. So, this is it from my side for the very first episode of Mana Ka Gharana. Please share your thoughts about it & let me know if you liked the very first episode or not? :)
