Amna Malik’s Tea @ 5

0

Amna Malik is well known and experienced host of Pakistani television industry. She has hosted many morning shows on several popular channels of Pakistan including Dunya News, Abb Takk Television, News One and Jaag Television. During the past few years, she has proved herself as attractive host with her unique style of hosting shows and is back with yet another interesting show which is T @ 5. Tea at 5 will be an entertainment show with a lot gossips, interviews, information and many more and will air on channel 5, every Thursday to Sunday at 5 pm. She is also currently seen essaying a relatively small role in drama Saanp Sehri.

Hip recently got in touch with Amna and when asked what made her say yes to a small channel, she said:

“Nothing is big or small, I don’t believe in that, if you are good in your work and are part of a show which is knowledgeable and does not stoop to mindless activities just to get a good rating then I feel that the audiences do tune in irrespective of how big a channel is.”

Amna further added,

“If you look at Shahid Masood and Jasmine then they too joined relatively new channels but since they are loved by people their shows were watched with great interest.”

When asked Malik how difficult it would be to do a show from Lahore when she is based in Karachi?

“It’s actually easier for me because I will shoot in Lahore for few days in a week and since it’s an evening show it will give me ample of time to pursue my acting career as well. I liked the concept behind Tea @ 5 because I don’t believe in doing morning shows where one is pressurised to follow others like doing a shaadi week or calling spirits. That is just not my thing and I am much happier in doing a show where I know my fans won’t be disappointed at all” said the mother of two, Amna.

FilmFare Awards 2017 – Winners Announced

0

Bollywood’s most acclaimed award show, Filmfare Awards 2017 shocked the entertainment fraternity of both India and Pakistan by nominating Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Qurut-ul-Ain Baloch despite the ban on Pakistani artists but as it is said Art is beyond borders.

Four Pakistani stars made it to the nominations list of 2017 but none of them were awarded at the event which held last night. Fawad Khan couldn’t bag his second Filmfare award for Kapoor & Sons, since his co-star Rishi Kapoor won it in the Best Actor In A Supporting Role category. Fawad Khan was awarded as Best Debut Male in FilmFare 2014 and he even bagged the Diversity Award at the 2016 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

Qurat ul Ain Balouch lost out to Neha Bhasin, who was the singer of ‘Jag Ghoomeya’, in the Best Playback Singer (Female) category.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam were nominated in the Best Playback Singer Male Category but the award was won by Arijit Singh for Ae Dil Hai Muskil. Both Atif and Rahat have been nominated several times earlier too and this time turned out to be like every other one.

American actress Lindsay Lohan, has believed to be converted to Islam and Muslims from around the world are flooding her twitter with congratulatory and welcoming tweets. Lindsay has scrubbed clean two of her social media accounts and posted the message “Alaikum salam” on Instagram, which has been widely interpreted as a sign that she’s converted to Islam. Muslims around the world are welcoming a new sister to their religion.

Lindsay has dropped hints about converting to Islam in the last few years too and has been vocal about her interest in the religion. In 2015, she had faced a backlash in the US after she was photographed with a Quran in her hands in New York. “They crucified me for it in America. They made me seem like Satan. I was a bad person for holding that Quran,” said Lindsay.

When she moved to London, she said one of her Saudi friend gave her the Quran she was pictured holding. “My very close friends, who have been there for me a lot, in London are Saudi and they gave me the Quran and I brought it to New York because I was learning,” she revealed on Turkish TV show Haber Turk. “The Quran opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am.”

Lindsay has not announced anything officially yet but if she has actually converted to Islam, she would not be the first celebrity to do so. Cat Stevens, Mike Tyson, Ice Cube and Muhammad Ali all converted to Islam during the prime of their careers.

Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 12 Review – Love Story Done Right!

Ohkay so, this episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat was a bit on the slower side but nevertheless I had a great time watching it because it still had some very crucial developments to its credit. I liked the fact that this episode had a lesser number of flashbacks & the to & fro was mostly between the events that were taking place in the present. I really like how the team of Khuda Aur Mohabbat never falters in stirring some emotions in every other episode because this time around too, there came a couple of scenes which touched me & left me feeling overwhelmed. When the drama or the characters start affecting & touching the viewers on an emotional level, it definitely seals the deal that everything has been done to perfection! Well done Team Khuda Aur Mohabbat!

So, Kamran & Ebaad got to meet Hammad & they came up with the solution that Hammad’s choices should be respected & nothing should be done which might push Hammad away from them as well. Even though seeing Hammad’s mother crying for her son did make Kamran & Ebaad feel bad for her but it was good to see that they chose to stick with their decision of keeping Hammad’s whereabouts a secret. I did feel bad for Hammad’s mother though because may be for the first time she realized her mistakes & she realized how she took her son for granted. It is sad that Abrina has so much of say in that house, that too in those matters where she can see a son & a mother have drifted apart because of her & her sister. It is actually quite immature & selfish of Abrina to think everyone in her husband’s family should put her younger sister ahead of Hammad, the son of this family too!

Abdullah decided to address the issue that was bothering him & that was to find out about Imaan’s perspective about this marriage that was decided by her father. Even though Imaan did try to come clean with Abdullah but the answer that she gave him was enough for him to know that she was only following the orders of her father & didn’t have her heart into it. Abdullah might not have reacted but his expressions were enough to tell a tale of what he was going through when he got to know that Imaan was not emotionally involved in this relationship that they both were about to form.

It was good to see that at least Haya decided to put things into perspective for Imaan. Haya can see that just by seeing Hammad in pain, Imaan is not herself anymore as well & as much as Hammad needs, Imaan also needs a closure. Haya knows that Imaan feels guilty & she also knows that her entire family is the reason why Hammad is punishing himself, so Haya decided to take the matter in her hands where she wanted to do something for Hammad so that he stops torturing himself because of Imaan – because of a girl who he can never be with. Even though Imaan retaliated but it was good to see that she understood Haya’s perspective too & realized that everything that Haya was saying wasn’t a lie & yes, Imaan herself has been feeling guilty for Hammad’s current situation, that is why she gave in & sent him a letter. It was heart-wrenching to see Hammad all lost in his thoughts when he got a message from Nighat that Imaan wanted to send him a message, it looked like he wasn’t himself because the anticipation was getting the better of him & he only had one thing on his mind, which was his upcoming meeting with either Haya or Imaan!

The best scene of this episode for me was the conversation Siddique, Najma & Hammad had about Hammad’s further education & the way Najma showed him a path through which Hammad could shape up his future. It is sad that everyone knows Imaan is practically out of Hammad’s life therefore they all feel burdened & responsible for the fact that they can’t let Hammad ruin his life while chasing a shadow which he can never get his hands on. Najma’s idea behind the thesis was actually based on Hammad’s personal struggle, his entire journey which has taught him so much & she knew, that Hammad had to put this experience to good use because this is the only thing which is going to help him move on in his life.

Hammad sent a letter back to Imaan & that made her even more restless. The way Imaan broke down after reading what Hammad wrote went to show that she was not only feeling guilty for him but she was also in love with him as well, so much that her heart ached when she got to know what Hammad was feeling. Another beautiful scene was the conversation between Haya & Imaan, where Haya addressed the elephant in the room & tried to get to the root cause of what actually it was that was bothering Imaan & making her restless? Haya did try to put a label on what it was that Imaan was feeling & she asked her sister if it was the emotion of love that unwillingly Imaan developed for Hammad? I loved how Haya suggested that Imaan should at least meet Hammad once to get to a conclusion & understand what is it that is making her so anxious.

Overall, this episode was beautiful & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I love how strategically they use the OST, it just adds so much charm to the entire scenario. However, I will say that in few of the scenes, I found the background music to be quite loud & annoying, I really hope they stop using that particular piece because I literally had to mute my TV as that sound was so irritating. Also, I will say I am so disappointed with those people working at GEO TV who are responsible for uploading the online episodes because where last week we all were requesting them to improve the quality, this time around the audio was not in sync with the video & it just killed like literally ruined the charm of the episode. I really think they need to be considerate towards the viewers & their wishes because this is most certainly not the right way to treat the fans of GEO’s drama. Anyways, needless to say that Imran Abbas was perfect in this episode as well. I just absolutely love how expressive his eyes are like you can feel the pain & intensity of each & every emotion that the character of Hammad is going through & that is only because of Imran Abbas’s perfect portrayal. The rest of the cast did a beautiful job too but the one who stood out for me in this episode was the girl who is playing the role of Haya, she actually seemed like a concerned younger sister who wanted to make things right & was doing everything to play her part, she seemed so genuinely concerned & it looked just so realistic. I can’t wait to see what’s more in store for us, please share your thoughts about this episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 13 Review – Time To Move On?

Zain and Mahgul’s track was covered flawlessly in this episode but I can’t say the same about the way Mahgul/Noor and Mikael’s track was handled. I still have a tough time relating to Mahgul and Zain’s undying love for each other and their marital status but all the conversations today which covered their feelings were well-executed; the dialogues were not clichéd or over the top. This episode opened with Mahgul sharing how she felt about Zain and it was actually quite refreshing watching a strong woman who can look out for herself accepting that she loves a man like that. It goes to show that she does not feel that loving Zain makes her weak in any way. Mahgul and Zain’s relationship might not be relatable but it is definitely positive.

The timeline in tonight’s episode was slightly confusing because of some of the dialogues. When Kashmala’s mother invited Zain to talk to him she made it sound like Kashmala and Zain had been “friends” for years even though it seemed like they had known each other only for a few weeks. Arshi once again tried to brain wash Zain and after 7 years we were not shown what Zain’s relationship status was. What I truly missed in tonight’s episode was Mahgul’s presence in Noor’s life. Mahgul was shown busy in her office most of the times in this episode and the previous one too and ever since Mikael entered Noor’s life Mahgul has taken a backseat in his life. This drama should have been about Noor and Mahgul’s struggle together. While it is good to see so many people who have supported Mahgul through all these years, it was somehow strange watching Mikael tell Mahi that it was time to have that conversation with Noor. Noor and Mahi’s over dependence on Mikael isn’t the best part of this drama. Also, I felt like I did not know Noor well enough. It would have been so much better if the viewers saw how difficult it was for Noor to adjust in the society and what issues he faced. That one scene summed up why he was a misfit but it just wasn’t enough.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 13 Review - Time To Move On?

All these years Noor has been going to the same “classroom” and even now Mikael is his only teacher. Mahi was going to make him fit into the society but on the contrary his world is limited to that house, the class room and a few people so basically he is over-protected. The writer definitely did not delve into the details of this particular track and at this point I feel like Mahi and Zain’s relationship is the focus of attention and Noor is merely an irritant. There was a definite focus on Noor and on Mahi’s life vis-à-vis Noor but after Mikael’s entry into their lives things have changed completely.

The most refreshing aspect of this episode was Mahi’s reaction to Arshi’s visit to her house. She did not try to distance herself further from Mikael or rethink the choices she had made so far as a reaction but did something which a practical and sensible woman like her should have done. The meeting between Zain and Mikael was also very well written and directed. Everything that Mikael said to Zain was right on point.

Although this episode wasn’t flawless and few of the things did not work for me but it was very well directed and all the actors did complete justice to the roles assigned to them. The story however has lost its charm because of Mahi’s over-dependence on Mikael, this was Mahi’s war and it would have been good to see her fighting it on her own with some support from other people. Also, Noor’s character and his struggles for now have been relegated to the background or are not getting as much attention as they should have.

The preview of the next episode suggested that perhaps Mahi has “moved on”. Also we will see another leap of many years in the upcoming episode, hopefully then Noor will be the centre of attention.

Imran Qureshi Becomes First Pakistani Artist To Be Honored With A Medal Of Arts Award

0

Internationally acclaimed award winning Pakistani artist Imran Qureshi has been honoured with a Medal of Arts Award by the US State Department for 2017, making him the first Pakistani ever to receive this honour. The awardees for this year also include Nick Cave, Jenny Holzer, Wolf Kahn and Rachel Whiteread. Qureshi was honoured in a ceremony hosted by Deputy US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington D.C on 12th January.

Qureshi has been exhibiting his paintings internationally for almost 20 years. The Medal of Arts award is given to artists who have promoted cultural diplomacy through the visual arts and international cultural exchange. He was also made ‘Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year’ in 2013 with an exhibition at the Kunsthalle, Berlin, Macro Museum Rome and Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, in 2014.

Speaking on receiving the award, Qureshi said, “It is not just for me but for Pakistan. This especially holds true for the nation’s contemporary art scene. The reality is that the West is only exposed to Pakistan through what their media tells them, this is often one-sided and myopic. Contemporary art is the most exciting thing happening in Pakistan courtesy the diversity of ideas, concepts and approaches.”

He added, “As an artist, I have always assumed a sense of responsibility to make a significant contribution to furthering harmony between different cultures and countries. As a Pakistani I am proud to accept the award in the spirit of making this world a better place through art for our future generations.”

BBC Declares Pakistani Skin Lightening Creams Poisonous & Illegal

0

The usage of skin lightening and whitening creams have been a trend since years. Some companies are making millions, capitalising on these creams which cause cancer, diabetes, severe skin conditions and other diseases. Many recent revelations have proved how harmful these products are, and the recent one is by BBC.

According to a video by BBC, these whitening creams include harmful and poisonous chemicals like hydroquinone and mercury which can cause organ failure and cancer. Among the list are few famous Pakistani brands; Faiza beauty cream, Golden pearl beauty cream and Stillman’s cream.

The video stated, 15 shops have been caught by London trading standards. They were fined record amounts on average 11,000 pounds each. And for the first time some shop owners were given suspended ail sentences.

“The courts are looking at this as a criminal activity as its poisoning someone for profit. It’s not the kind of activity where people can think they can run a legitimate business and sell these kinds of products,” said Cenred Elworthy in the video released yesterday.

Atif Aslam’s Pehli Dafa Under Threat!

0

Pakistan’s heartthrob Atif Aslam has come with his new music video ‘Pehle Dafa’, which has been produced by an Indian music label, featuring Atif and Bollywood actor Ileana D’Cruz, has not gone down too well with India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party has condemned T-Series(the music label which produced the video) for uniting with Pakistani artists despite extreme cross-border issues reported Indian media. Other than Atif, the composer, Shiraz Uppal and the lyricist, Shakeel Sohail has also contributed to the music video.

“Why does our entertainment industry need to go there for talent when relations between the two countries have hit the lowest ebb? Are we so short of talent ourselves? I see no point in hurting sentiments”, said BJP spokesperson, Shaina NC

What is more, BJP is highly annoyed on why Filmfare Awards 2017 allowed 4 Pakistani celebrities to be a part of the nomination.

“Relations with Pakistan have deteriorated to such an extent that there is a move now to declare Pakistan a terror state on an international level. Given the current crisis, I don’t think we can have Pakistani artistes coming here,” said the BJP member.

Seems like India has been really annoyed lately due to the nominations of Pakistani artists in Fimfare and Atif Aslam’s song. Only time will tell if Pakistani artists will remain in the nominations list.

January the first month of the new year 2017 has already started and with respect to the Urdu cinema so far it is a mild month. Dil Banjara Episode 13 Review – Foolish Decisions

This episode had quite a few developments to its credit some of which were quite clichéd and had done-to-death written all over them but all of them were shown in a convincing manner. I also hope that we are ultimately being led to a climax which will be worth the wait! Nida’s Taya abu wants this marriage to take place at any cost and watching him going the extra mile to please phupo was nerve-racking. The viewers also found out the shocking truth; phupo knows about Zaman’s not-so-secret nikkah. Zaman also shared his “grand plans” with his mother and honestly speaking this track reminded me of Safeer and his mother’s track in Bin Roye mainly because of the fact that Zaman’s mother wants to get her son married to Nida so desperately that she is willing to cheat her close family in the worst way possible in order to have a bahu of her choice. Also, Zaman will only get the haveli if he gets married to Nida. The overall scenario of course is different because Nida already knows that Zaman is married but even then she is willing to go ahead with this marriage because she would much rather suffer herself than to make her family suffer. Nida’s character has turned into a complete Allah mian ki gaye. While you completely understand why she was unable to share the truth with her father, it is difficult watching a girl ruin her life like this. Nida’s father’s majazi khuda, koi bhi faisla le sakte hei dialogues were quite disappointing because he was shown as a person with a thinking quite different from the typical mindset.

Rida and Zaman’s scene showed that he was not going to tell her about the wedding. Zaman’s character is turning into one of those black characters which are introduced in the story only to add a major twist and they don’t have much going for them. There were times when phupo felt guilty about what she was doing but it looked liked she was majboor because she did not want to let her son down. Taya Abu was majboor because of other reasons therefore this whole affair finally got this far because of all these majbooris.

Dil Banjara Episode 13 Review - Foolish Decisions

The reason behind Mehtab aunty’s heart attack had to be one of the most clichéd part of this episode. She was introduced as a strong woman who actually raised someone’s son and her own daughter all on her own but now even after being sure that Sikandar isn’t even sure whether he should marry Shama or not she wants this marriage to take place like he is the last man on earth! Sure Shama would be heart broken if she found out Sikandar never really loved her like that but then getting her married to someone who does not even feel that way about her isn’t really a wise thing to do. Watching someone like Mehtab forcing her daughter to marry Sikandar was definitely not the best part of this episode. After hearing the conversation between Shama and her mother, Sikandar decided to delay or perhaps cancel his trip. This particular scene in which he was shown listening to their conversation was the weakest scene of this episode in terms of direction. He was standing in the middle of a half-open door for the longest time yet no one noticed he was there! Nida’s scene with her mother was the only one in this episode which I truly enjoyed watching. Watching Nida think about how she felt about this entire situation would have helped the viewers relate to her character.

The preview of the next episode gave me hope that Sharmeen might tell Nida’s father and this marriage may not take place. Looking forward to Nida’s father taking a stand for his daughter in the upcoming episodes.

Yasra Rizvi has been a part of industry for over a decade and has some great work to her credit. She recently tied knot with Abdul Hadi, who is much younger than her. Her marriage sparked a debate online and people started to criticize her due to the age difference and the meher decision. The brave lady, then decided to shut the haters in the classiest way with a video message. Yasra yet again opened up about the issue at Faisal Qureshi’s moring show, and we must say we agree to every bit she said. She spoke about gender bias and social differences in our community.

Girl Affected Badly After People Trolled Her On Internet For An Innocent Mistake!

0

Recently, a video of Aspire College students visiting Murree went viral on the social media. The girls who couldn’t contain their excitement around the Local news reporter made some bloopers when asked about their experience in the city. The news reporter then posted the video on Facebook which went insanely viral in no time.

One of the girl in the video was quoted saying “Hum Aspire sae hai tou inspire tou kare gay hi” and the other said “Boht maza aa raha hai, We are proud of you”. The girl, who accidentally said that “We are proud of you” was massively trolled on social media. Some people and even Facebook pages posted memes to further humiliate the girl and mock her English speaking skill.

Girl Affected Badly After People Trolled Her On Internet For An Innocent Mistake!

A post was brought to attention from a person who goes to school with the ladies and shared how the girl is being affected due all the trolling. Atika Ahmed wrote, “I asked sir about this girl. He said trip ke baad wo aik din bhi college nahi aai. He even asked this girl’s friend about her. The friend said that the last time she talked to her, she was crying on top of her voice and was continuously saying that she can never face the world and that she just wants to die now and that all she wanted to say was that she is proud of her teachers and the college but with all the chaos and energy around she just got confused. I’m sure her confidence has been shattered for the rest of her life”, she concluded.

People trolled her and made memes but did not even think once about the girl who just lost her confidence because of us. She was excited and made a mistake, anybody else could’ve made a mistake either but she certainly did not deserved this. The insensitivity of the new trolling culture bared all of the them to see how it was affecting the girl. All those who humiliated her need to apologize and think before targeting an individual because we never know what our actions can lead to.

Seeta Bagri Episode 08 & 09 Review – Absolutely Boring!!!

0

I think it’s about time that I bid farewell to this drama because it is offering absolutely nothing. Seeta Bagri sadly has turned out to be a drama which I expected it not to be, it is just too filmy & has nothing when it comes to story-line. I tuned to it last week but I didn’t feel like writing a review on that episode as it gave me nothing to talk about & now this week once again I am left feeling disappointed to an extent where I feel I have wasted my time. It is actually quite sad that this drama has no substance, be it in terms of story or in terms of character sketching. It is actually an opportunity wasted & no wonder why it hasn’t gained any popularity whatsoever because nothing is right about this drama.

To be honest, I am actually quite shocked to see the way the characters have been developed, like if I put it in simple words, there is no development or growth when it comes to any character. 9 episodes have gone by & all the characters have started looking like robots with no personality whatsoever, like they actually look lifeless to me. Now that Aakash has entered in their lives, it is like he is running things & not even getting exposed. It is funny how everyone knows about everything but they all choose to stay quiet when it comes to Aakash. It is actually quite annoying to see him being treated as a royalty in Badrinath’s family that too after he has misbehaved with Seeta time & again. I am not sure what is it that is stopping Seeta from telling the truth to Badrinath, like where did that Seeta go who was so self-sufficient & knew how to take a stand for herself?

Ratan & Nandini have brought me to a point where I feel disgusted when I see them romancing & being absolutely sick with each other. There is always a fine line between doing things tastefully or absolutely looking distasteful & sadly both such experienced actors like Syed Jibran & Bushra Ansari have made their track together gross & cringe-worthy. When I saw that Ratan was proposed to buy the carpentry shop from Haji Sahab, I thought it will change some sort of dynamics but absolutely nothing happened. To be honest, out of all the characters, I feel Ratan’s character is the worst because you just don’t understand why he is reacting a certain way, like the writer did a poor job in etching out his character in particular. All Ratan does is yell & scream, throw tantrums at Nandini like a 10 year old & then all of a sudden he gets chummy with her, leaving you wondering why was he agitated in the first place & then what made him completely fine the next moment?

I find it actually quite funny how Aleezay & Taimur are doing everything theoretically & not practically. It was good that Taimur saved Badrinath from that police officer but then I find it absolutely unconvincing that Taimur started dealing with Aakash to such an extent where he made him in-charge of everything that they are planning in the Hindu Mohalla. It seems as if Badrinath’s family is the only family in Hindu Mohalla because Taimur & Aleezay have only been discussing things with him & doing what he tells them to do, like Badrinath introduced them to Aakash & he took his word & without even assessing his qualifications or eligibility, he made him an in-charge just like that? I think it would’ve been better if they had shown that Aleezay & Taimur spoke to all the residents of Hindi Mohalla & had come to a decision of helping them with their consent. I think it would’ve been better if they had shown at least 10-15 elders from the Mohalla who Taimur & Aleezay discussed the matters with.

I actually cringed when I saw Ratan getting cozy & comfortable with Seeta & also the way Seeta was finding it perfectly alright to listen to his gibberish without even having the decency to cut him off because he is already married & then in this episode we saw that Ratan was confessing his love to Nandini for everything that she has done for him till date? That entire situation was a very bad attempt of twisting things because the effect of it fizzled out pretty quickly because it had zero substance in the first place. I am sure the director added that bit only for Badrinaht to force Aakash in Seeta’s life & I am sure this is exactly what is eventually going to happen. I so wish in stead of showing Seeta hovering from one room to another aimlessly with a few books in her hands, they had shown how Seeta got involved with the NGO workers & started bringing a change in her Mohalla practically. Mala Rani is a filler in this drama & she is absolutely annoying, the character & also the actress playing her role has a tendency to get on your nerves. Similarly, the guy playing the role of Aakash is intolerable too!

I am actually done with this drama for now & may be I will check back again in a few weeks, if it will grab my attention, then may be I will resume reviewing it but I think I’ve had my dose of Seeta Bagri enough & I need some time off to digest it. I hate to say this but it is actually quite sad how the director couldn’t put such a huge star cast to good use & couldn’t bring them to create magic on our TV screens. They all seem just so purposeless & boring, it is sad! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Seeta Bagri!

Teaser Of ‘Kesaria’ By Mai Dhai & Natasha Baig

0

Mai Dhai may have come to the forefront just a few years back, but has proved to be different yet entertaining. She rose to national prominence after appearing as a featured artist in eight season of music series Coke Studio. Her demure looks give no way to her prowess of capturing the audience with her wide range of rhythm, merged with the high-pitched and high-strung vocals that compel you to listen.

Dhai has collaborated with emerging singer Natasha Baig for the upcoming soundtrack. Produced by Saad Hayat, the song titled Kesaria is in Marvari language and will be released on January 15. The music video which has been directed by Hassan Ali Effendi and shot by Aamir Mughal explores the culture of Tharparkar. The teaser of Kesaria is out.

In conversation with the Hip, Natasha Baig stated, “The video of the song was shot in Thar. The song is in Marwari but there will be subtitles in the video, and I hope people appreciate the lyrics.”

According to Natasha, Mai Dhai came up with the idea for the collaboration. “We speak different languages, but we managed to build a bond.”

Sharing more on the theme of the song Natasha Baig said, “Kesaria means beloved, and anyone could be your beloved. This includes a lover, a friend , a parent, or even God.”

When asked about the theme of the video, Natasha stated, “We have shown a lot of peace and harmony in the video because in the place where it’s shot, Hindus and muslims live peacefully. They all dress the same and there’s now segregation based on religion.”

0

An Indian filmmaker has refused to attend the 62nd Filmfare awards over the nominations of Pakistani artists. The filmmaker who is a recipient of several Filmfare awards has taken the move as a show of protest and said that will not attend any ceremony in which Pakistani artists are invited.

At least four Pakistani artists have been nominated for the 62nd Jio Filmfare Awards 2017. Fawad Khan has been nominated in the Best supporting actor category for his role in ‘Kapoor and Sons’, while Atif Aslam has been nominated for his song ‘Tere Sang Yara’ from ‘Rustom’. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been nominated for his song ‘Jag Ghoomya’ from the movie ‘Sultan’. Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch has been nominated in the Best Playback Singer (Female) category for her song Kari Kari in Pink

It is reported by Bollywood Hungama that a celebrated Indian filmmaker has protested against the nominations out of respect of the Uri attack martyrs.

“It’s a matter of self-respect. We are not welcome in Pakistan. They brutally kill and maim our soldiers. And we behave as if our cinema can’t do without their artists? Kuch toh sharm karo (have some shame).” did not name the filmmaker, reported Bollywood Hungama.

Sang e Marmar Episode 20 Review – Picking Up The Pieces!

Ohkay so, this was for the first time that I procrastinated in tuning to Sang e Marmar, not for any other reason but because I knew that this episode will be very intense & heart-wrenching too because we will see each & every single character going through the pain of losing their loved ones & they will still be mourning their deaths. I knew that in this episode, we will be shown how every single one of them would be picking up the pieces & trying to move on which would be a very sad situation & this is exactly what this episode was all about. I loved how the director created this feel of sadness & grief in this episode by taking away the vibrancy & making everything dim & dull, like right from the first frame till the very last moment, I could feel that this episode had a very sad feel to it & was dedicated to the storm that had taken over their lives. This aspect goes to show the attention to detail that has gone into making this drama & how the director took care of each & everything. Where the writer did his job in giving us a very strong & unique script, the director made sure to do full justice to it by even taking care of the mood of every single episode & that is why, where the director has made us laugh by adding a few comic situations, he is now helping us in experiencing the loss that everyone has suffered, which is absolutely incredible!

For the first time, I abhorred Torah Khan, only because I saw how heart-broken & emotionally shattered Shireen was. Only for the sake of avenging his mother’s death, Torah Khan transpired the entire situation where he gained some sort of satisfaction, but Shireen was the one at the losing end. Shireen lost her brother & her husband & I seriously think, Torah & Durkhane, both are equally responsible for Shireen’s ordeal. I loved how Gulistan Khan stepped ahead & gave Shireen a shoulder to cry on. Yes, he was being nice to her because he wanted a grandchild from her, but now that Safiullah’s gone, even Gulistan Khan is forced to do some thinking & he seemed so aloof to his needs & desires, that right now, all he could think of was to console a young girl, who probably lost everything.

I must say, I love the way Torah Khan’s character has been conceived by the writer, like where at one point, I was feeling a strong sense of detest for him, the very next moment when I saw him looking at his mother’s pictures, I felt sympathy for him as well & that is the beauty of this script & his character specifically. Torah is just blinded by revenge that is why he is unable to see that in the pursuit of achieving his goals, he has actually turned into a monster. But I won’t be lying if I say that Torah seems justified because his mother Rakshi didn’t deserve what she went through & also, Torah didn’t deserve the ill-treatment that he got at the hands of Gulistan & probably all of his children excluding Aurang, all his life, so yes, it is amazing how you just can not hate his character because you understand his thought process!

Shameem…it was the most powerful scene of tonight’s episode where Gulistan Khan called his wife by his name. That particular scene was a blend of so many emotions & experiences, because of which it became one of my favorite scenes from the entire drama. Gulistan referred to his wife as Safiullah Ki Ma, out of his habit but, he chose to call her by her name because he knew that calling her through Safiullah’s reference might only hurt her – this was actually something that Gulistan Khan did due to some consideration for his wife, but little did he know that even her name had so many hurtful memories attached to it that it’ll cause her more pain. They took us back to the moment when Gulsitan & Shameem started their life together & just in the first interaction with his wife, Gulistan showed Shameem her the place she had in his life. Gulistan believed in treating his wife like a nobody or probably a doormat & he wanted to show her that he will always boss around her. That was the first memory Shameem had of her marriage, of her name & also of an identity that she never really had. Despite having a name, Shameem never really had it, she didn’t have an identity & that is why, she realized that after giving up so much, she earned it, she earned a name & now at this stage, she earned an identity which she probably longed for all her life.

I loved how they showed Gulistan Khan in a very different light in this episode, he is not the same Gulistan Khan anymore that we were introduced to because at this stage, he has lost almost everything, he has lost his pride, his has lost his honor, he has lost his arrogance, his confidence, everything & that is why, we saw him doing a very sweet gesture for his wife because somehow where he wanted to give her a shoulder to cry on, he also felt like relying on her emotionally as well. It was beautiful!

So, Torah Khan succeeded in dodging the bullet. He never really imagined that Gulistan Khan will question him, even though he just did it out of speculation, completely based on ‘what if’, but the way Torah stuttered showed how he was still scared of Gulistan Khan. I somehow have a feeling that if Gulistan will get some sort of hint about the fact that Torah actually was with Safiullah, he will surely get to the crux of the matter by just having a conversation with Torah Khan. Right now, Torah might think that he succeeded in distracting Gulistan, but it is only because Gulistan himself is so mentally & emotionally scattered, that he couldn’t see through Torah’s discomfort with which he was replying to Gulistan. The way Gulistan started questioning Aurang & Torah both went to show that he was unable to comprehend why Safiullah went against Gulistan’s word because if there was one thing that Safiullah had done all his life, that was showing obedience to his father, no matter what he said. But there was another thing that made Gulistan doubt Safiullah was the fact when Aurang confirmed that it was Safiullah who told him to take Gullalai to the hospital in the city, like I loved how that little conversation was added which changed everything that Gulistan was thinking & trying to figure out because after getting to know about it, he realized that if Safiullah could go against his father’s wishes & send his wife to the city, he could also not care about the promise that his father made regarding Saif ur Rehman as well!

Sadly after Gullalai, Sherbano has Shireen on her hit-list & she wants Shireen out from her parent’s house because she says Shireen reminds her of her brothers. Sherbano girl, you seriously need something in your life, some sort of activity, some hobby, try painting or book reading may be, because the way you only devise plans to insult & ruin people’s lives, it makes you look like you have nothing to do & you’re absolutely jobless. Yes, I do understand that Sherbano has lost her brothers, but how can she evaluate that her pain is bigger than Shireen or Shameem even? Sherbano seriously has gotten used to the idea of negativity & bitterness that she lives off of it. I loved the conversation Shameem had with Sherbano where she snubbed her & told her to leave her place. Seriously, I am wondering is there ‘anything/anyone’ that makes Sherbano happy? Is there ‘anything/anyone’ that Sherbano’s content with? Sherbano has a problem with each & every single thing & person in her life & seriously, it makes me feel sad for her because she has no idea how bitter she has become & how it is taking a toll on her!

Oh dear, the way Pari reacted was something that I surely wasn’t expecting. I love love loveeeeee how unpredictable everything in this drama is, right till this stage, like we’re done with 20 episodes & you just can not predict how a certain character will react. Where like all the usual dramas, I thought Saif ur Rehman’s death will force Pari to do some thinking, where her husband’s death will force her to reflect on all of her wrongdoings, there she was appreciating her beauty, blaming her husband for being a coward & for choosing to die? I thought may be Pari will try to get in contact with Shireen & she might be sorry for what she did but this lady took my by surprise, haha. I love how excruciatingly thick-skinned she is, like where I was thinking she will be feeling guilty for what she did with her dead husband’s ikloti sister, there she was, not even scared to admit that she wasn’t sad at her husband’s death. What a unique & beautifully twisted character, haha! Saif ur Rehman’s relatives actually underestimated Pari & her intelligence, she knew why they came to meet her & I loved the way she shooed them away, she sure is a one-woman-army & I am sure she won’t let anyone have things their way!

Another beautiful scene from tonight’s episode was the conversation that Gulistan & Aurang had. Gulistan & Aurang opened up to each other & just when Aurang was feeling that he should give up & that he should let everyone stay where they are because he felt they were happy with how miserable their life was, just a single conversation with Gulistan changed the way he was thinking & put things into perspective. Gulistan Khan did admit that Aurang hurt his ego & out of all his children, he knew that Aurang would be the one who could threaten his power, his authority, his position because he was different & he was rebellious. This is exactly what I said weeks ago in one of my reviews that the way Aurang took a stand for his mother, it made Gulistan realize that he had to draw a line because like Gohar & Safiullah, Aurang might not do what Gulistan would want him to do. I loved how like a defeated father who lost pretty much everything, Gulistan ended up admitting that he never physically abused Shameem after that day because his youngest son taught him something completely different to what he learned from his father. I loved how both Aurang & Gulistan came clean but where Gulistan’s confession was completely unexpected, it told Aurang that he could actually bring some changes because he brought a change in his father when he himself was very young & somehow this is what his father would allow him to do now. I think after this conversation, Aurang will get the confidence to take matters in his hands & somehow I feel Gulistan will start relying on him & he will begin to trust Aurang & his intelligence too as he already knows how Aurang has a control over his emotions & how he is different from Gohar & Safiullah. I think we will get to see a fresh & a very strong bond between Gulistan & Aurang which will actually be quite beautiful!

Oh well, seems like everything is done & is over from Torah Khan’s side, but I have a feeling things are about to begin. Torah has successfully avenged his mother’s death & he seems to be at a happy place, but I am sure things are far from being over. Torah even prayed that he never gets to use his mind to play games ever again but I am sure he’s in for a ride, but now that I am saying this, I am not too sure because things have been so so so unpredictable in this drama that where you expect one thing, something entirely different happens, so let’s see!

Overall, this episode was intense & powerful. Each & every single scene of this episode was perfectly done, was absolutely important & was just so intense. Be it Gulistan trying to pick up the pieces, be it Shameem crying at her loss, be it Shireen mourning the death of her husband & her brother, be it Pari assuring herself, be it Sherbano spewing venom against Shireen, be it Aurang trying to figure out what he should do or be it Torah trying to dodge the bullet, each & every single situation was spot on & all of them were in sync with their characters. It is actually quite amazing that you know how a certain character will react yet you are not sure of what they’re going to do next. The script of this drama is absolutely incredible & it has been directed beautifully & perfectly by the director. I loved the dialogues in this episode as well, like each & every single conversation is meaningful & has so much of depth in it. The star of tonight’s episode for sure was Sania Saeed, for that one powerful & intense scene. Noman Ejaz, Mikaal Zulfikar, Masroor Paras, Uzma Hassan, Kaif Ghaznavi, Kubra Khan & Sharmeen Ali did a wonderful wonderful wonderful job too. Hmmmmm, now that I have written all the names, it makes me sad how few of them are left & so many of them have died. :( Anyways, please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of Sang e Marmar.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

PS: On a lighter note, I so wish Mikaal Zulfikar hadn’t shared Noman Ejaz’s funny picture last week saying ‘When Daa Jee realized he is stuck with Aurang’ because when both of them were having such an intense conversation, I was actually laughing while thinking about that photo, haha! :)

Udi Udi Jaye: Mahira Khan Sizzles Yet Again!

With every passing day, the craze for the release of Mahira and SRK’s much-awaited film Raees seems to be reaching its zenith and the stars dancing to the tunes in Udi Udi Jaye is making us even more impatient. Mahira Khan’s song Udi Udi Jaye released today and she looked as glamorous as ever. The two of the most talented entertainers in the film industry look absolutely phenomenal and are killing it in the tunes. Udi Udi Jaye is a romantic song set to garba beats. The song shows the journey of SRK and Mahira meeting in Raees, then falling in love and getting married. The song released just a couple of days before India’s famous kite festival Makar Sakranti.

Composed by Ram Sampath, it has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Bhoomi Trivedi and Karsan Sagathia. The lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. Mahira and SRK’s crackling chemistry is so beautiful that we just can’t get over it.

Dumpukht-Atish-e-Ishq Episode 26- Have you ever really loved a woman?

What power does a man have over a woman that keeps her subdued into submission? Kulsoom proved her mettle by exposing Habibullah in front of Bibi and I expected fireworks. Unfortunately for both of these women, men like Habib know only too well that they are truly masters of their womenfolk. While Bibi was clearly hurt, she was ready to look beyond Habibullah’s infidelity and move on. However, Habib was even more determined to have Kulsoom now that the cat is out of the bag. After all, what’s preventing him any more from fulfilling his desires.

Bibi mocked him for never having loved any woman and the reason behind that was the love of his power was greater than any other feeling. His lust for Kulsoom and his maddening desires are completely out of control. Habibullah has become accustomed to having people worship and obey him and Kulsoom’s rejection of him has made him stubborn. He’s like a spoilt child who has made up his mind that he wants a toy- and Kulsoom is nothing more than a toy who he’s going to use and then dispose of once he’s bored. Habibullah hasn’t been faithful to any relationship- yet he thinks nothing of it.

Seeing Bibi accept his misdeeds yet forgiving him didn’t surprise me but seeing her whimper hearing his threats to divorce her were not in line with her character. Even though Bibi is a far cry from the woman she started out as, I expected more from her realizing that she is finally aware of her husband’s true intentions. What sort of a life is she hoping for knowing she’s expecting her first born and finding out her husband is not the man she thought he was?

Bilal’s quest for vengeance doesn’t seem to be going anywhere- he knows that Habibullah is at the centre of Kulsoom’s nightmare yet he’s delaying any action. I don’t get why he’s not doing anything constructive knowing the gravity of the situation. Nimmo’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance proved yet again that there can be no better friend than her. Kulsoom’s parents have finally realized they should get their daughter back and this has turned their home into a battleground. Kulsoom’s attempts at getting through to Haroon are in vain and I hope next week he gets a jolt of reality.

The promos for next week look intense and I’m looking forward to seeing it. Sonia Mishaal is a fine new addition to the acting field and I hope she chooses her projects wisely and spreads them out. Noman Ejaz continues to impress and each time he takes up a new role I feel confident this will be his most hated character but he never disappoints.

What will be the turning point? What do you think?

Mahira Khan’s Raees In Trouble!

0

One of the most awaited film Raees is geared up to release on January 25, 2017. The film has been a part of many controversies till date due to the inclusion of Mahira Khan. The controversy was smartly averted after SRK assured Raj Thackery that Mahira would not be a part of any film promotions but seems like the film is in trouble all over again!

According to recent reports from Indian Express, film exhibitors in central Indian state Chhattisgarh are now receiving threats from Shiv Sena. In a threat letter delivered to all exhibitors in Chhattisgarh, Rakesh Shinde, Chattisgarh Shiv Sena head, has asked exhibitors in Durg and Bhilai to not screen Raees in their theatres, failing which they will be solely responsible for the consequences.

It looks like Shah Rukh Khan just can’t seem to catch a break.

SRK had struck a deal with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena that he would not involve his Pakistani co-star Mahira Khan in their film’s promotions in exchange for the peaceful release of Raees.

Talking to indianexpress.com, Akshaye Rathi said, “All of us exhibitors in Chhattisgarh have got these letter which the subject reads a request for ban on Raees. The body of the letter asks all exhibitors to not screen any ‘deshdrohi’s film’ and if the cinema owners do so, they will be solely responsible for all the consequences. It’s signed by Rakesh Shinde, Chhattisgarh Shiv Sena head. It’s letter dated 5th January and was delivered to us day before yesterday.”

Exhibitors have to take threats of disruption seriously, Akshaye shared.

“It’s illegal to say that you will stall a film that has been certified by the CBFC for release. Also something needs to be done about this threat letter. We have informed the police about it. When PK was released, one of the cinemas in Bhilai was seriously vandalised and the damage cost me Rs6 lacs. Dilwale too has not yet released in Durg. Even if one cinema gets vandalised, people who want to watch the film will get scared and prefer staying at home and buying pirated copies which will affect the industry,” said Akshaye.

The threats have been reported to the police and the exhibitors plan to approach the Chief Minister for the smooth release of the film.

Shehrnaz Episode 11 Review – Off-Track

0

This drama serial is turning out to be a huge disappointment mainly because of the fact that it is another one of those dramas in which the heroine is introduced as a headstrong, confident, focused and ambitious young girl but after a few episodes she turns into one of those typical heroines who have done-to-death written all over them. Usually in dramas these women change after they get married and lose their identity completely but in this particular case Shehrnaz’s priorities changed after her dreams started coming true. Shehrnaz was introduced as an extremely determined woman who wouldn’t let anything or anyone stand in her way but things started to go haywire when Sherry got engaged and since then the story is no longer about Shehrnaz making her dreams come true. It is almost as if Shehrnaz feels that she has done everything she wanted to and now the story has moved on to a phase where she is madly in love with a married man and that is what her track is all about. I have to say that this story does not have any impact also because what we are watching right now looks a lot like an affair yet the viewers are supposed to believe that this relationship is strictly “platonic”! It is impossible to relate to the relationship between these two individuals because of this vagueness and probably an attempt by the writer to keep Shehrnaz’s character dignified.

KK too is head over heels in love with Shehrnaz which is something brand new for him. This was the 3rd episode in a row in which the viewers saw KK admitting that Shehrnaz wasn’t just any other girl in his life. I don’t know what to make of this track but I definitely felt like the script lacked substance and depth at this point. Watching Shehrnaz cry for Sherry few episodes back and now for KK in these recent episodes has completely ruined this character for me. Ayeza Khan and Aly Khan’s performance is right on point but the actors don’t have much scope when their characters do not have a lot to offer.

Shehrnaz Episode 11 Review - Off-Track

Naina Pardesi’s visit to Naseeb Gul’s outlet and her proposal should have been the highlight of this episode but it was also one of those developments which make you wonder why it happened. There was no background story to this track therefore this proposal came and went without any impact. One can only assume that Naseeb Gul is doing really well but even then why would a top designer want a collaboration with him? It would have been more convincing if the viewers saw Naina Paredesi discussing this plan with someone beforehand so that the viewers knew what was on her mind. This wasn’t the only side track which was executed poorly. Why couldn’t KK switch off his phone or switch it to silence mode when Shehrnaz was calling?

Shehrnaz’s unprofessional attitude in this episode and the previous one is not helping her character in any way. She refuses to work every time she has a fight with KK! This character is fast becoming a really annoying character and the script is extremely immature at this point. Also, KK and his wife’s track is putting me to sleep. This play had tons of potential but sadly it is going downhill fast! I am sorely disappointment with the recent developments.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 10 Review – Quite Interesting!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was definitely good & I had a great time watching it. Finally, things moved forward & brought some very nice changes in the story. I am glad that the youngsters ran the show this time & I’d appreciate if things remain that way. I think the first half of the drama has already been dedicated to the elders & their issues, so now they all need to take a back seat!

Nimra finally had a heart-to-heart conversation with Kabeer, where she told him everything that she has felt all these years. I liked how Nimra got a chance to say everything that she had on her mind & then in the end, Kabeer ended their conversation on a funny note, like it was good to see them both having a father-daughter moment. Once again, a tiny little thing that I picked up which bothered me was Nimra’s mention of the fact that Kabeer took Anas with him & going by how things were rolling, Zakia & even Nimra were in contact with Anas throughout the time he was away, so why was it shown that Kabeer came to Pakistan on his own & met Ghaziyan by chance that too as a stranger? Like are they trying to tell that Anas NEVER mentioned it in front of Zakia or Nimra that Kabeer was going to Pakistan? Then seeing how Zakia & Nimra have always treated Ghaziyan as an integral part of his family, so I am not sure how they all were oblivious of Kabeer & his plans of coming to Pakistan? I somehow am unable to digest the fact that 1 family member i-e Anas seemed to be in contact with his family in Pakistan, so how come no one knew about the 2nd family member i-e Kabeer? No one had an idea about Kabeer; neither Nimra (through Anas) nor Farah (through Altamash), which seems quite odd. I know these things don’t really matter much but since so many episodes were dedicated to this gypsy mysterious uncle named Kabeer, I feel the writer & the director failed to establish solid grounds behind him being MIA. Also, I don’t see any justification for him being out of the picture like he never existed & everyone speaking about him as if he vanished into thin air because quite a few people around him were already linked to the rest of the family members in Pakistan, so I am not sure why everyone in the initial part of the drama made it look like they had ZERO idea of where Kabeer went, especially now when it was suggested that Anas lived with him all these years? LOL!

Anyways, Zakia got a chance to scream her lungs out too but before she could’ve deafened me, I chose to forward her scene because I knew she’d be whining about why Nimra chose to go to Kabeer’s house. Zakia has left that place ages ago & she couldn’t accept the fact that Nimra decided to fulfill Kabeer’s wish. Zakia seriously has some psychological issues because where she wrecked havoc in her husband’s home years ago & she is still doing the same in her brother’s home now. Zakia surely wants everyone wrapped around her little finger & when things go out of her hand, she just can not bring herself to accept it. Finally, Waris decided to have a say on this matter too & I liked the fact that he acknowledged that the dynamics were about to change because the youngsters were going to take charge of everything. Waris knows that Zakia can not impose her wishes on everyone & she can not rule everyone’s life, that is why he could foresee how things were about to change.

Nimra & Zubaria got a chance to have a conversation. I liked the fact that Nimra apologized to Zubaria for the way Zakia misbehaved with her & then she ended up inviting her cousin to her Nikkah ceremony as well. Nimra started to feel that everything was turning out to be wrong & she was committing once mistake after another. Nimra could feel that Ghaziyan was not happy with the decision that the elders made on his behalf & he was just keeping a promise he made, that too halfheartedly. Ghaziyan on his own was suffering but he was keeping everything inside as he knew that no one would listen to him & no one would understand how he was feeling as well. Yes, he chose to share his feelings with Gul Zeb but even he knew that Gul Zeb herself has been a victim of Zakia’s wrongdoings all her life, so even if she wanted to, she couldn’t help him!

Finally, the time arrived when Nimra had to face the reality. At first, I was shocked to see that Zakia chose not to attend her daughter’s Nikkah, but then later I was thankful that she didn’t because Nimra wouldn’t have done what she did. Nimra chose not to get married to Ghaziyan because she could see that his heart wasn’t into this relationship & he lost control of his emotions the moment he saw Zubaria. It was good to see that Nimra had more sense & wisdom in comparison to all the elderlirs of the family combined where they were bent on forming a relationship that wouldn’t have given any happiness to anyone. Everything that Nimra said to her father was nothing but the truth & she made a lot of sense because she knew that Ghaziyan would only get married to her but he’d always be in love with Zubaria. Just a little side note, even though I am glad that Zakia didn’t attend the function, but her protest didn’t seem justified because the ceremony was in any case being held in a function hall & not at Kabeer’s place? LOL! So, for her to attend the function, she’d had to go to the function hall & not to Kabeer’s house, right? Then what was the entire fuss about? *smh*

Overall, this episode was pretty good & everything was done nicely. The pace of the drama has slowed down but it wouldn’t matter much if they’ll keep on moving things forward because a lot of episodes have been dedicated to the family politics & riddles which are hardly making any sense at this stage. I feel as the episodes are progressing, the loopholes of this family drama are becoming more evident. To be honest, I am actually disappointed to see Anas’ character because he has zero contribution in the story & I am sure it will stay like that, similarly, I have lost hope in Altamash’s character too because I am sure his arrival won’t make any difference as well. I am not sure what & why is it that the writer & the director have chosen to keep Altamash locked inside the laptop or a cellphone till the 10th episode lol, let him come outside, I am sure he needs a breather as well! Altamash’s character seems like a purposeless filler because when Kabeer told Nimra that she is the only sister of 2 brothers, I actually started thinking if this was another riddle that we’ll have to solve but then Kabeer took Altamash’s name along with Anas’ & I was like ohhh accha wo bhi hai. Anyways, the preview of the next episode seemed interesting, seems like the rest of the episodes will go by where Nimra will keep on convincing Zakia to accept Zubaria as Ghaziyan’s wife & Ghaziyan will keep on convincing Zubaria to become his wife! Overall, it’s a very decent play to tune to & I have a good time watching it, also why not when the cast is so good, the background score seems to work & the locations are beautiful! :) Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Muqabil Episode 6 Review – Solid Performances

This episode laid the foundations for what is coming ahead. Arman is now completely trapped and he has no choice but to get married to someone he could never even consider marrying. I must say that Mohsin Abbas yet again was the star of the show tonight. His exceptional and mature performance has completely won me over. Asif Raza Mir and Kubra Khan are equally impressive. Shaheen Khan got way too much “scream” time in this episode. The preview of the next episode however suggested that there is a reason why her character is being given so much screen time. The conversation between Pareesa and Mehmood which most of us were looking forward to turned out to be a dream sequence or so it seemed. This conversation showed Mehmood telling Pareesa how his life completely changed after he violated her. He turned towards religion hoping that he will be forgiven but he still continued working in the same house and the way he talked to Pareesa in the previous episode went to show that he had not changed much.

Muqabil Episode 6 Review - Solid Performances

Arman turned towards his college friend Zara (Sundas Tariq) for help, which basically went to show that he was going to leave no stone unturned to ensure that this marriage did not take place. I cannot praise Arman’s character enough. He is extremely likable and you completely understand why he does not want to get married to Pareesa. I am however having a tough time relating to Pareesa’s mother’s fixation with her marriage. She was shown giving Pareesa other options a few times but now she has stopped trying to understand her daughter and thinks that marriage alone is the solution to her problems. It would have been nice if she also gave her the option of staying single for a few years and it was Pareesa who insisted that she wanted to get married since we know why she is so eager to get married to Arman.

Pareesa has been reliving what happened to her so many years back every single day and at the same time it seems like she was looking for a time and opportunity to channel all her anger and hatred towards something which would torment Mehmood. We don’t know yet what Pareesa has in mind but for now we do know that she thinks that living in Mehmood’s house and getting married to his son would be a punishment for him. Pareesa is emotionally disengaged from her surroundings all the time. Her only attachment is with her plants or with her maid’s daughter and that too because she feels she needs to protect them. Because of her frame of her mind, she does not care how her decisions are effecting the people around her. Also, deep down she feels that her parents were not there for her, they could not protect her therefore she owes them nothing. Pareesa’s character is complicated and so far it has been translated on screen quite well. Except for Kubran Khan’s outlook everything else about this character makes perfect sense. A simple look would have suited Pareesa’s character more than this made up look.

Muqabil Episode 6 Review - Solid Performances

Some of the scenes in Arman’s house were not very entertaining because of all the screaming but other than that the story took an interesting turn with this episode. Muqabil has some exceptionally impressive performances to its credit, the story is unpredictable and it keeps on giving me a reason to look forward to more.
