Tonight’s episode of Udaari just like the previous episodes highlighted the obstacles in Zebu’s way. The writer Farhat Ishtiaq has kept everything very real so far so that the viewers are not fooled into thinking that taking such a case to the court is a walk in the park. Even without Malik’s support Imtiaz’s lawyer is fighting the case aggressively because for him now it is a matter of his reputation! He has never lost a case in his entire career and he is not going to let this case spoil his record. This latest development went to show how two people who are in the same profession are fighting battles on completely opposite fronts. For Imtiaz’s lawyer his reputation as a lawyer comes before everything else, although he knows that Imtiaz is guilty but for Arsh winning is important because he wants to save Sajida and he does not want to let Zebu down. The viewers also saw Malik supporting Kashf foundation in order to save his reputation. The trial was covered in detail yet again in this episode but the turning point of this episode was when the viewers saw the man who witnessed everything that night for the first time after that incident. This man has turned over a new leaf perhaps due to some tragedy in his life and in his present condition he will be very interested in helping Zebu and Sajida. This latest development wasn’t too shocking since the repeated references to there being a need for a solid witness clearly indicated that this man will surface at some point. Now the real question is that how will he come forward. 
The strength with which Zebu faced the lawyer in the court and narrated everything that happened and Sajida’s emotional testimony in the court were the most emotional scenes of this episode. Hina Altaf and Sammiya Mumtaz translated all the emotions involved in these scenes flawlessly. Their performances and the way these scenes were shot and written made them very effective. Zebu is most certainly the heroine of her life and not a victim! She is a fighter who knows that the road she has decided to take is not an easy one but she is willing to face all the hardships that come her way. Meeran’s decision to support Zebu without thinking about the consequences was another development which was covered really well. Arsh warned her about the consequences but she decided to take this step nevertheless. At the end of this episode Sajida confessed to her crime and even with all the witnesses and testimonies the evidence against Imtiaz was not strong enough. Imtiaz’s expressions at the end of this episode suggested that his old ‘friend’ had come to visit him but the preview of the next episode showed Imtiaz’s lawyer telling him that he will win his freedom very soon. 
Even someone like me who wanted to see this case going to trial and also wanted to watch the proceedings of the trial in detail cannot help but question the pace of the drama. Every episode of Udaari has quite a few emotional and powerful scenes to its credit but even then the drama needs to pick up pace. Every episode has a lot of scenes which can easily be covered in a few seconds but they are covered in detail. For instance Imtiaz’s conversation with his lawyer in this episode, Munira’s interview to the reporter, Arsh’s partner giving her details of the case and few other scenes could easily have been chopped down. It remains to be seen how this final witness will make it to the court and I really hope that Udaari wraps up soon because there is no need to stretch the story further. As Momina made her debut in the Coke Studio she is in the limelight. Where many individuals feel that she is very beautiful, one individual feels that she looks like… a ‘maid’.
It was on the Facebook page of Momina that a person rudely commented on the physical appearance of Momina, that she resembles to the girl working as a maid in his house. He wrote, “… no offense but she resembles the maid girl in my house.”
To which Momina decently replied, “… resembling your maid isn’t offensive, I’m glad I have lookalikes who work hard, even if it’s a maid at someone’s house #RespectAll.”
The issue is not that Momina was targeted like this, the real problem lies that what kind of society are we turning into? Completely inhuman, so indecent that the servant which work at our home for hours and make our life easier we tag them as demeaning “kaam waali massi or Maid”. It should be understood it’s a maid or a GM in a company they all belong to the working group of our society who get paid for the work they do!
Another issue which is too important to be noticed is, that what are we using social media for? Increasing our knowledge, intellect? Getting entertained? For work? Or just for INSULTING others? It is a high time to realize that when one is making comments on social media he/she is depicting his/her own mentality and not causing much harm to the other person. Same goes for Momina. Atif Alsam is completely focused towards his career, the star is not just collaborating with national rock stars but is also teaming up internationally. According to source Atif Aslam is collaborating with the acclaimed international artists Akon, who is also the Grammy award-nominated musician. Both the singers will be singing a song for the Bollywood movie Tum Bin 2.
According to a source the song composition will be done by Ankit Tiwari. It will be a romantic number sung by Atif Aslam with Akon singing the hook-line in Hindi. The video of the song is to be shot in a five star vintage hotel in India.
Tum Bin 2 is a sequel of Tum Bin which will be directed by Anubhav Sinha who also aims to reproduce the song Tumhare Siva Kuch Na.
About Akon’s comeback in Bollywood, Sinha said, “It’s too early to divulge details as we are in the initial stages of discussion with Akon’s team.”

Lately Atif Aslam collaborated with Maher Zain and sang a song “Im Alive”. Maher Zain is a songwriter & music producer of Lebanese origin. He released 2 albums with Awakening Records, Thank You Allah (2009) & Forgive Me (2012). Maher worked in New York with internationally renowned producer RedOne (Akon, Lady Gaga, etc.) but he chose instead to make music that reflects his roots.
The song is extremely spiritual and gives a very soothing effect. Both the singers have done a great job. This collaboration is something which I as a Pakistani feel proud of. Such team work results in more creativity and also leads to transformation of Pakistan’s image internationally.

This eid Urwa Hoccane was invited as a guest in the mazaaq Raat. When Vasay Chaudhry insisted Urwa, She sang the song “Abhi Na Jao Chor k”. It seems the gal has been taking singing lessons from Farhan Saeed. Though the song sung by Urwa does not match to the standard of original sound track but as she said she likes “gun gunana”, it seemed to be a nice try.

So this episode was not as engaging as the previous one but the note at which it ended and the preview for next week has definitely caught my interest as I had not anticipated this turn of events! Rafiq and his wife have done a runner and Bari Sahab demands no stone be left unturned in the search for the couple. Despite the police having taken Jahanzeb off to jail and the policeman not seeming the sort to be bribed or intimidated by them, Bari Sahab is still fairly confident Jahanzeb will be released from jail. She is very proud though of what Jahanzeb has done although I find her constant jibes and taunts regarding her son not being like a ‘zanani’ and being a ‘mard’ a bit odd as surely she knows she is in a way mocking herself too?! I mean, I doubt she is but she is a woman after all and when she draws comparisons with women it is done in a demeaning and condescending way so it does seem strange.
Eavesdropping, eavesdropping, eavesdropping! Sneak behind open doors, stand behind curtains, walk softly so you may walk in on a conversation and learn something valuable. Seriously – if a law was passed that eavesdropping scenes could not be used to move a story forward in a drama anymore, a lot of dramas would not know how to go on! Alisha ‘overhears’ Bari Sahab tell Shahzeb the truth and gulping like a goldfish out of water she is shocked and then outraged. She shares her thoughts with Shahzeb and Bari Sahab walks in on them and demands she leave. Even though I know Bari Sahab is more often out of line yet I find her character and her statements often amusing and the scene where she tells Alisha what she thinks of her with Alisha gulping furiously was entertaining. ‘Bari Sahab ko kehna unn ki kissi baat ka bura nahin manaya’ are her parting words to Shahzeb and all I could think was – as if Bari Sahab cares!
Alisha is either delusional or Shahzeb has fed her some silly notions for despite Bari Sahab having made her dislike of Alisha very clear, she still feels she can make a change and has decided to adopt the village and its people. Alisha’s character does not ring very true to me. Yes, she is portrayed as someone who is clear headed and ‘for the people’ and wanting to bring a revolution – yet Sabeeka as Alisha is so not convincing. She seems more like someone who wants Shahzeb and live in the city and maybe try to bring some change in the village while not really living amongst the village people. Her article has apparently caused an ‘uproar’ although she claims she has not mentioned Shahzeb’s village or his family.
Zainab is desperate to have Jahanzeb released and does not share Bari Sahab’s confidence and faith in his return so easily. It is interesting how Bari Sahab loves Zainab and worries about her too when she feeds her herself – I wish Zainab could confide in her about her feelings for Jahanzeb. Sikander’s plan is also disclosed – he feels killing Bari Sahab and her sons is too easy, quick and mindless a revenge. He prefers ‘ maarna nahin, ghaseetna hai’. The episode ends with Mannat feeling unwell and Zainab reporting back to Bari Sahab that Mannat is pregnant. Bari Sahab decides to have Mannat remarry as soon as possible and orders Zainab not to tell anyone about Mannat’s pregnancy – except one of the housemaids overhears the conversation and I suppose the whole point of us seeing her overhear is that she will talk.
Although this episode was not very happening, it was still watchable especially with the preview for next week showing a twist I had clearly not expected and taking the story forward in an interesting way. I enjoy watching Asma Abbas as Bari Sahab – her dialogues at times are really interesting especially her analogy of a snake and Sikander. I missed Kamran Jillani in tonight’s episode and there was far too much of Sabeeka and I really can not take much of her. Her acting is extremely mediocre and her goldfish antics do take the attention away from the entire scene being played out.
Definitely looking forward to next week’s episode and to see how things go from there. Is Alisha able to make any changes or is she just another small fish in a big pond – pun intended! Will Jahanzeb be released? Although not mind blowing – Laaj still holds my interest – what do you think?

It was on the show Subah Savere Samaa K Saath hosted by Sadia Imam that Om puri reacted in a very funny way when Mehwish Hayat was invited on the stage. Om Puri was already on the stage when Sadia Imam called Mehwish Hayat’s name and Om Puri fainted as if he has seen the world’ most beautiful lady. Later Sadia Imam added more drama to the entire situation by calling herself and Mehwish as “Hoor’s” and told Om Puri that he is in heaven.
The entire things started looking odd and irritating instead of funny. But looking at the positive side it is good that actors from both the countries are developing good relationships and are comfortable working with eachother. It is a pleasure that our stars working in India like Imran Abbass, Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Sajjal Ali are being respected and stars coming from India to work in Pakistan like Om Puri, Sara Khan are also reciprocating in a positive way.

Actor In Law has all the right ingredients of a commercial film in the right proportions. It is entertaining, crisp and definitely different. The makers of this film especially the writer Fizza Ali Meerza did not rely on done-to-death formulas and most certainly did not play it safe. Actor In Law dares to question many of the social vices in our society and does so with finesse while keeping the comic element intact. The messages in the film are not only relevant but also very well put together, the credit for this goes to the director Nabeel Qureshi who proved yet again that he can achieve the unachievable! The film Actor In Law manages to say a great deal in a very short period of time because of the succinct and eloquent dialogues and a truly effective screenplay. The film has a star cast and each one of these stars translate the characters assigned to them effortlessly and impeccably on screen. People who have lived or are living in Pakistan will be able to relate to this film completely.

Actor In Law is the story of Shan Mirza (Fahad Mustafa) who dreams to be an actor. He is fully convinced that he has the talent to be a great actor but fails to get the right kind of opportunities. His father Rafaqat Mirza (Om Puri) is a lawyer who believes in sticking to the truth even if it means losing every single case! Rafaqat Mirza looks down upon his son’s ambitions and does not approve of him at all. The relationship between Shan and his father was the highlight of this film. This film is all about how Shan Mirza ultimately manages to make his dreams come true and in the process wins the approval of his father. The actor in him gets a stage and tons of attention in the courtroom when someone in need mistakes him for a lawyer. The journey from there on is very interesting and exciting.
The film questions everything from child labor, the rat race for ratings, hypocrisy in general, politics, load shedding and harassment of women and does so without getting very preachy. The writer covers many topics which the Pakistani awaam can easily relate to; yes there is something for everyone in this film! Actor In Law has quite a few upbeat and fun songs to its credit which are very well choreographed. The most positive aspect of Actor In Law is that it does not drag at all, you will enjoy every single minute of this film.
Fahad Mustafa is a brilliant actor who completely stole the show in Actor In Law. His acting is effortless and his dance moves are very impressive. Even though he has used glycerin excessively in the film but you can very easily ignore that because otherwise he is truly brilliant. Mehwish Hayat does complete justice to the role assigned to her although the role does not have a lot to offer because this is the story of Shan Mirza.
There was a definite chemistry between the leads and rest of the cast. Om Puri has also performed his role like a pro without going overboard. Saboor Ali, Aly Khan, Saife Hassan, Mohammad Ehteshamuddin, Hamayun Saeed, Talat Hussain, Rehan Sheikh and all the other actors who made short appearances in the film made their presence felt. Nayyar Ejaz is a very talented actor who has been typecast for the longest time now, it would be nice to see him being cast in a positive role one of these days. Saleem Mairaj proved once again that he knows the art of acting only too well!
Although Actor In Law is a satire on many serious issues of our society but it does so without getting too serious. It is a feel-good light-hearted film which dares to touch upon some very sensitive issues, which is indeed a very rare combination. It is also one of the best edited films of recent times. Anyone who wants to be thoroughly entertained should go watch this film! The story, screenplay, direction, dialogues and production values are top-notch. It will keep you awake and very interested! Go watch this movie with your friends! It is great to see Pakistani filmmakers experimenting and excelling at it!
It is already known that Ali Azmat is obsessed with travelling on his bike. This time Ali is ready to do the adventure with his gang to China. It was in 2011 that Ali went to Lahore from Karachi.In 2013 Ali went on a Pakistan tour.But this time Ali will be on a long tour, that is to China and its bordering areas.

Jitna aap se duur bhaagnay ki koshish karti hoon, aap utnay he shiddat se apni taraf kheenchtay hain. So Zoya has started to develop feelings for Shariq but still refuses to admit them to him. Her confession gives hope to Shariq though. I do wonder, and not for the first time, what it is in Zoya that has Shariq fallen for her hook,line and sinker?!Except for her ever constant monotone, big mournful eyes and lethargic state – there is nothing else of herself that Zoya has shown or expressed to us or Shariq so really?! An educated, good looking and successful man like him – was waiting for Zoya all this while? Love knows no reason – absolutely!
Mein biwi nahin hoon aap ki. Tau ban jao na! Wah. Talk about naye naye andaaz kay proposals. Ghar mein pyaz khatam ho gaye hain. Tau aur lay ao na! Uff! The proposal fell flat anyway – no surprise there but Zoya seems to be opening up and appearing to be more friendly and warm to Shariq the following day only for her Chacha to swoop in. I find it really odd and disturbing the way her Chacha’s eyes gleam at the mention of his grandson. It is not love as such that you see in his eyes, more like a prized possession, feather in his cap kind of thing. Anyways, he is successful in bringing Zoya home despite Shariq’s mein tumhein bhool nahin sakoon ga, ye baat tum mat bhoolna. I really liked that dialogue for some reason – made me stop and ponder over those words.
Saba’s despair over Zoya leaving was very apparent and as she confesses to her phuppo later, Zoya was her ticket to freedom. By having Shariq marry Zoya, she felt she could be free again. It is really sad to see how her mother has forced her into this marriage when clearly that is not what Zoya needs. She is beginning to see things more clearly though and use her brain to send the ‘extras’ away from home so she could focus on getting Shariq and Zoya married and I am sure that this is not what the psychiatrist had in mind when she suggested marriage and at this point I doubt the writer is trying to make us believe that having to deal with this problem is what will help Zoya overcome her fears but the scene where she addresses Zoya’s Chacha although showed her to be agitated yet she was able to control herself. If that makes any sense.
They say you should be careful what you wish for. ‘Allah us ki har chahat poori karay’ . Zoya’s mother’s dua for Shariq may just be something she regrets for Shariq’s chahat is Zoya. Zoya seems to be tuning into her feelings now and shares her thoughts and feelings with her mother and Azmeer’s mother. Next week’s promo shows Chacha trying to force his son to marry Zoya so as to keep his ‘heir’ close to him and I am interested to see if Zoya takes a stand for herself and what her parents and Azmeer’s mother have to say to this proposal.
Shariq’s mother confuses me. She insisted he marry Saba even though she could quite evidently see how much Shariq wanted to marry Zoya and now she gives him her blessing to marry Zoya. How does she plan on managing, rather imagine Shariq to manage two marriages under one roof. I liked the first few episodes of this drama and then was thrown off by the introduction of the new characters and their confusing personalities and thoughts. But I find myself interested again.Supposing Zoya does marry Shariq, then what? Do they ‘together’ help heal Saba? That sounds rather lame, except I am interested to see that if that happens then how it is all played out.
Sana Javed was her usual monotonous self except in a few scenes but I liked Mikaal Zulfiqar’s acting tonight. I liked how his expression managed to convey his feelings in the scene when Zoya’s chacha asks her to come home with him.I have grown used to Saba I suppose and at least Anam Fayyaz is consistent in her acting so I am beginning to relate to her as Saba. I have to say the OST that plays in the back and the dialogues at times are what stand out for me in this drama.
Will Zoya flee from her parent’s house again or will Shariq convince her to marry him? And what becomes of pota and Saba? Waiting to find out. How do you feel about how the story is developing – would love to hear your thoughts.

A Pakistani student Syed Owais Ali received a grant from the University back in 2014 for making a documentary. Ali is a Pakistani student at Northwestern University in Qatar who decided to highlight the plight of migrant workers in the international media with the project.
According to sources, Ali said ” When I received the grant it was then that, No Place like Home came into being. Before moving to Qatar, I lived in Dubai with my family and often interacted with the migrant workers there. Unsurprisingly, each one of them had a story to tell and I didn’t appreciate the way they had been presented in the international media,” recalled Ali. “I feel like they are just talked about as numbers or statistics. What I have attempted to do through my film is to humanize their story.”
The main character of the documentary is Sharif, it is a true story. He is 28 years old, who has been living in a remote village of Hakimwala in Punjab as a farmer. When Sharif debts kept on increasing due to loss in cultivation of crops, he decided to travel abroad and make money. Sharif family did not support his decision as he was the only person who knew driving in the entire village.
So Sharif sold his Suzuki Mehran and the remaining lands for going to Dubai. It is this journey of Sharif that urged the debut director Syed Owais Ali to make a documentary film in Pakistan: No Place like Home. The film was picked up by international news channel Al Jazeera English just recently.
The documentary followed Sharif when he left Hakimwala and entered a foreign land for the first time in his life. Ali said to media that “We need to understand the motivations behind their actions. There are many factors at play here … Some of them need to pay back debts, others have to support their families.”
Ali decided to record Sharif’s life after every three months by visiting him, as Ali also had classes to attend at the university. But just after four months Sharif went back to Pakistan.
Ali shared that “Interestingly, Sharif’s friend Zubair — who had also left Hakimwala at the same time — had decided to stay back in Dubai. I already knew it would be difficult for Sharif to adjust. Zubair may be shy but he is more strong-willed than Sharif, who is more outspoken, funny and attached to home,” said Ali. “Still, it was quite surprising that he returned within four months only.”
As Sharif left Ali had to change the entire narrative of Pakistan: No Place like Home had to be changed. Ali willingly obliged and followed up on Sharif’s return to Hakimwala. Soon Ali finished the film with the new narrative and submitted it to his university. Further Ali shared that he was not expecting that movie will be picked by Al- Jazeera it was one of his students at the channel who showed the film to the channel and they contacted him.
The most interesting part is that those who watched this documentary wanted to reach Sharif for helping him. Ali also conducted a fundraiser for buying a new car for Sharif. Ali said, “We raised more money than we even needed and bought him a Suzuki Bolan this time. He can accommodate more people in it.”
Now Ali is working on his new project about what happened after Hakimwala received the new car and how it changed lives. “That’s the power of documentary, isn’t it?” he said, with a smile.
The premiere of Actor in Law was a completely a mismanaged event. The place was over crowded, it seemed that entire city was invited to have a cinematic experience. The seating arrangement was for fewer people and invited guests were more in number.
The star cast made to the cinema 15 minutes late and the film was already started. Therefore people were busy watching the film and did not even notice that star cast has finally made to the cinema.After a few minutes film was stopped and Fizza Meerza stood up and informed the audience that movie will be played from the beginning as many people have missed the starting of the film. People resisted to the entire idea of playing the movie from the start but nothing changed.
After a while the rock star Atif Aslam left the show , the reason is still unknown. The entire event was a real mess. We hope next time Fizza Meerza and Nabeel Qureshi give us a more organized premiere.
Fizza Ali Meerza’s Actor In Law, directed by Nabeel Qureshi and written by both is released on this Eid-ul-Azha 2016. Starring the dashing Fahad Mustafa, the beautiful Mehwish Hayat and the brilliant Om Puri in the cast, Actor In Law is easily leading the race that also features Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai and Janaan.

The British Boxer Amir Khan who has a Pakistani Nationality. The boxer is is lately known not for his excellent performance in the ring. He got married in 2013.
Amir married Faryal Makhdoom , a Pakistani-American .She is 23 years old. The girl is tall, smart with very captivating looks. She graduated from Rutgers University School Of Arts & Sciences with a double major in political science and journalism. She met Amir through a mutual friend.
This episode of Sang e Marmar was not only powerful but was beautiful in so many different ways. I am in love with so many characters & I am quite impressed the way the writer & the director have made the characters evolve in just the first 3 episodes. This entire journey of Sang e Marmar seems quite well thought out, that is why every single aspect is being established & covered in great detail & even though they haven’t made it too obvious, you still feel the connection & the flow between the situations.
Aurang is bent on helping his sister in law Gullalai. Aurang knows that Gullalai needs help, that is why starting from Saifullah to Shehrbano, he pleaded her case as he knows that certain things should not be taken lightly. Aurang knows that Gullalai will never say a word because the ladies of his family have accepted their husbands as the ultimate authority of their lives, that is why his sister in law will never do something that her husband will disapprove of. It is actually quite heart-warming how the ladies of Gulistan’s family, in such grave situations have made a way for themselves where they find solace in the things which might come across as oppression to others. They live in such a setting, with such men & they most certainly are well aware of the fact that they can never change the situation, so they, with their wisdom have learned to live in tough situations peacefully.
In the previous episode, even though I had no issues with the discussion about Gullalai’s fragile health, I actually didn’t have an idea that this aspect will be developed further to uncover a lot of different shades of Gulistan’s personality & what I loved the most about the director’s approach is that it just didn’t stop there & it took us back to tell a tale of how things in Gulistan’s life haven’t changed & how his personality has always been the same, in the past & even in the present too. Aurang knew that if there was one person who will be able to convince Gulistan, it will be Sherbano as he knows that Gulistan has given her the freedom & the edge that even Aurang, being a male of the house doesn’t have. Sherbano didn’t see the necessity to go out of the way to help Gullalai as she is so self-absorbed & engrossed in her self-pity that she doesn’t see the sufferings of the people around her. When Gulistan finally got the heed of what Aurang was trying to transpire, he called Gullalai to explain it to Aurang that she is perfectly alright as even though Gulistan knew what Aurang was trying to do wasn’t wrong, he knew that Gullalai will never say something that Gulistan & Saifullah wouldn’t like to hear. Gullalai brushed everything off her shoulders & that’s when Gulistan closed the case & Aurang was forced to face the reality that things in this house will never change & will always be like how they have always been.
I must say, it was a pleasant surprise to hear Durkhani’s mother’s thoughts about the proposal of a 50 y/o man for her daughter. It is actually a relief to see such women in this drama who are far more broad-minded & intelligent than the men they are surrounded with. Even though all these women don’t really have much power to change things around them, they still don’t give up or hold back in playing their part which might ensure someone’s safety & happiness. I just loved how Shireen knew she had to do something after Durkhani told her that her brother Sharifullah was trying to get her married to a man of her father’s age. Even though their tracks are yet to be developed, I love Durkhani & Shireen’s characters already, they are so admirable & positive & the way they stand by each other’s side proves that no matter how dire the situation is, it takes love & courage to nurture a friendship. Shireen herself is in love with a guy she met in her childhood, who she has no idea of & even though she herself understands the emotion of love & she knows how being in love can make people do silliest of things, like a true friend Shireen never stops telling Durkhani to be cautious & to not fall in a trap that she won’t be able to come out of. Shireen knows she can’t do much, but she also doesn’t hold back from doing what she can & that is commendable.
Finally, the secret that we all were waiting for was unveiled in this episode. Aurang addressed the elephant in the room & asked about Torah Khan’s mother Rakshi. I must say, it was only because of such a powerful direction that Rakhsi’s very limited screen-time made me fall in love with her character. I just automatically warmed up to her & actually shed a tear at her ordeal. I must say, massive props to the director for making us feel for Rakshi & for showing us her journey in such a beautiful manner. The director did justice to her character completely & elaborated her journey in such a way that it made me form a connection with her immediately. So, Gulistan’s younger brother Shehbaz married her out of love when he was settled in Bangladesh for the sake of his family business. Even though Shehbaz knew that his father Baraan Khan & brother Gulistan Khan will never approve of his marriage with Rakhsi, he had enough courage & backbone to bring her to his home when things got rough in Dhakka. Shehbaz did his work by elevating her status where, very politely but with a lot of pride he faced Baraan Khan & Gulistan & introduced Rakshi to them as his life partner without even allowing them to have this sense of satisfaction that he will leave Rakshi if they will tell him to. Shehbaz’s work was done there & now it was Rakshi’s turn to show how much she loved Shehbaz.
I must say, the transition that they showed of Rakhsi was so powerful & beautiful at the same time. It showed the amount of love & respect she had not only for Shehbaz, but also for his family traditions, customs, values & culture that she went out of the way to embrace it. From her clothing to her personality to her attitude, Rakshi did everything to change herself in a hope that she will get acceptance & validation from Gulistan Khan. It was actually quite surprising to see Baraan Khan’s approach on Shehbaz’s marriage with Rakshi because he accepted her & their son but it was Gulistan who couldn’t do that. Then came the night in their lives which changed everything & that actually connected things to how they work in Gulistan’s family till date. He is the same man he was years & years ago where he couldn’t tolerate a lady having a me-time in the absence of everyone in their house, that is why even now, he doesn’t see the need of Gullalai getting a medical assistance, since he is so used to the idea of ignoring women’s needs, oppressing them & depriving them of their basic rights as human beings. It was actually quite disturbing to see that one sight of Rakshi’s moment of glory that she stole for herself was enough for Gulistan to forget all the efforts that she made in the past to earn his acceptance. What Rakshi did was within the vicinity of her home & any human being has a right to have such moments that make them happy, but Gulistan, who was awaiting an opportunity to show her the place she had in his eyes, saw it as a golden chance to show what a barbarian he was.
The way Aurang’s mother broke down & said ‘abb kya ro’on bhi nahi’ clearly told a tale of how helpless she has been all her life because she spent a life with a man like Gulistan Khan. Her tears told a tale of how much remorse she has in her heart for Rakshi & how deeply sorry she is for what her husband did. Even though Gulistan’s wife has made herself understand how things roll in Gulistan’s house & she seemingly looks satisfied, her reaction about Rakhsi’s sufferings told what she has in her heart. Just knowing that Torah was standing there when Gulistan was beating Rakshi inhumanely broke my heart. No child in his life should ever experience such a thing that Torah experienced. Even though they didn’t visually cover what happened afterwards, it still was so impactful that it took me to Torah’s side of the picture, where he must’ve felt so helpless to see his mother in such a condition, while being absolutely clueless as to why she had to go through all of that as he must not have understood that what his mother did that instigated Gulistan to react in such a way? A child, probably 10-12 years old was forced to see his mother in such a condition that must’ve scarred his heart & soul for his entire life, that is why a few years forward, we see Torah as a man who is indifferent to everyone, who has a problem forming a connection with his wife, who does everything to help those who are being oppressed as he knows that he has some power & wisdom to do that because when he was a child, he was unable to do anything to help the one he loved the most; his mother.
This episode was so beautiful & intense. The way this episode was directed shows that the director knows what he is doing & he will be staying true to the job that he has assigned to himself. I loved loved loved the treatment that the director gave to the character of Rakshi, it is amazing that they showed us all about Rakshi’s journey & all that there was to it, but it still has touched me & a lot of other viewers a great deal. Even though Rakshi died but now we will be looking forward to what Shehbaz & Torah went through & how they picked up the pieces. I hope Torah & Rakshi get the justice they deserve & Torah breaks the pride & empire of Gulistan that he has established by crushing so many people during the course of it. The scene between Rakshi & Gulistan was so so so well-directed & was so intense that it made me clench my fists, it made me hate Gulistan to the core but it also made me cry at what Rakshi must be feeling at that moment. I must say, all the actors have breathed life into all the characters & that is why where we all have warmed up to some characters, we have also developed a feeling of detest for some too. Sania Saeed, Noman Ejaz, Mikaal Zulfikar, Paras Masroor, Kubra Khan, the actress playing the role of Durkhani & even all those actors who got a limited screen time so far have done a beautiful & phenomenal job. I am so glad that I am watching a drama like Sang e Marmar which keeps me looking forward to more by the end of every episode. Today’s episode had some very memorable performances. Sonia Mishaal ( Kulchu) stole the show with her flawless acting while narrating her dream to Nimmo. She looked like she had seen a ghost and every inch of her body was shaking with fear. Kulchu is constantly abused by her mother and fears her dreams will be crushed before her eyes. Tahira leaves no stones unturned in ensuring Kulchu knows how passionately she despises Bilal. Even then, I found Tahira going to extremes wishing death upon her daughter. She can’t accept the fact even though Murshid Saeein has supposedly blessed the Union of Kulchu and Billu. Her husband is losing patience with her yet she continues her rampage. I don’t know what it’ll take for her to simmer down but for now, she’s a raging bull who’s only seeing red everywhere.
Habibullah’s visit to the Dargah revealed his desperation and his ghulaam Wali used it to his advantage. One look at Wali and you’ll know he’s up to no good but that’s exactly the guy Habibullah needs on his side if he wants to have Kulchu. He seems convinced that he can find peace once he’s with Kulchu who reminds him of his ex. Of course, a very obvious argument would be that just because she looks like her doesn’t mean she is going to return his feelings but at this point, Habibullah is obsessed with having her more so because he failed the last time around.
What is Bibi’s game? Twice I noticed she was tearing up but she was quick to mask her pain. Is she miserable because she knows Habibullah doesn’t love her and is still fixated on his ex? Does she feel incompetent in some way? Does she want out of this marriage or does she just want to be happy with Habibullah the way every woman would want to be with their husband? Or is she extracting revenge on him for marrying her? Bibi’s character is very interesting and keeps you guessing- there are so many facets of her personality that are yet to be revealed.
Billu’s journey of love has to be the strongest depiction of resilience I’ve seen in a very long time. Who would’ve thought a guy like Bilal would accept the tasks assigned to him at the Dargah. Tahira derives pleasure from the knowledge that he’s living the life of a bhangi. Meher Nigar has silently accepted that her son won’t give up and continues encouraging him to stay true to his promise despite the hardships. Both of these mothers are polar opposites- Tahira can’t seem to grasp the concept of acceptance and Meher Nigar is willing to sacrifice her happiness for the sake of her son.
Looks like Billu is up for a challenge with Wali targeting him. How much worse can things get for the poor guy- this torture must end. On the other end, Kulchu isn’t exactly on a bed of roses either but somehow things will be getting hotter for her as well. It’s heart- breaking to know that through no fault of their own, both of these lovers are being exploited. First it was Bibi who was playing games but now Habibullah seems to have made it his life’s mission to separate the lovers and make Kulchu his baandi. Let’s see what the future holds for them.

These films are Janaan, Actor In Law and Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai. Out of these Janaan and Actor in Law are also released overseas in various countries.
Here are un-official box office collections for all the three films on Eid first day.
Janaan (جانان)
Janaan (جانان) is considered as the biggest film coming on Eid being distributed by ARY Films in Pakistan and B4U films outside Pakistan. Apart from Pakistan the film is also released in almost 15 countries of Europe (UK), North America (USA , Canada), Africa (South Africa, Mauritius), Middle East (UAE, Omann, Qatar), Asia-Pacific (Singapore, Fiji, Australia).
Outside Pakistan Janaan was released on 8th or 9th September 2016, in Pakistan it is released on 13th September 2016.
In Pakistan on first day of Eid the film has collected 1.04 crore PKR which is a strong figure for any film on Pakistani box office.
Outside Pakistan apart from UK there has been no reports of any worthwhile business. In UK the film has performed really well as it was expected. Bin Roye a film of similar genre performed exceedingly well in UK last year which raises the expectation for better business of Janaan here.
In UK the film was released on Friday 9th September 2016. In five day of business it has gathered 146k Pounds Sterling which is nearly 2.03 crore in Pakistan rupees. The film had a dull opening over the weekend but gathered momentum on Eid Day 12th September 2016 (In UK Eid was on 12th September).

Actor in Law
A film of comedy genre always appeal to audience in Pakistan. Actor In Law a social comedy has out performed all the rest of films in Pakistan on first day of Eid. Actor in Law is distributed by Urdu 1 Films. The film is also released in Middle East UAE on 8th September 2016 but so far no box office collection figure has been received from UAE.
In Pakistan Actor in Law is released on 13th September 2016. The film has earned a massive 1.65 crore PKR on its first day in Pakistan. It is the best opening day record for a Pakistani film in 2016 leaving behind Ho Mann Jahan. It is also the second best figure for opening day for any Pakistani film after Jawani Phirr Nahin Aani.
Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai
Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai is the third film released on Eid by Geo Films. Full of emotions and based on the relationship of a young couple this film has also performed well. It is only released in Pakistan.
The film has earned nearly 75 lakh on its opening day which is a more than decent figure for any film in Pakistan.
So going by these figures the film leading the race in Pakistan is Actor In Law and overseas it is Janaan.
Two major multiplexes of our country Cinepax Fortress (Lahore) and Centaurus Cineplex (Islamabad) were closed on the first day of Eid and are opening from the second day of Eid i.e. 14th September 2016 so the collections of all three films are expected to increase on the second day of Eid.

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani was interesting. Things are moving forward at a decent pace & I like how the situations keep on changing with every single episode. It just gives us an insight into all the characters in a very unique manner & tells us how family members stick by each others side in the times of need.
Dhaani, Raja & Shaani are wise but immature in a very admirable way. Even though they understand how Kaleem’s mind works & how rigid he is, they still snatch some moments of glory & score a big win in their favor. This episode revolved around the proposal predicament that was presented in front of Dhaani. It is so obvious that she has fallen for Sameer & that is why she is now going to do everything to be by his side, even if it means deceiving innocent Bee Jee or innocent people who show interest in her.
Dhaani took the matter in her hands & she decided to do everything she can to prevent Amjad Ali from showing up at her doorstep to seek her proposal from Kaleem. She started off by fooling Bee Jee once again by fabricating a lie but the more interesting thing that she did was how she partnered with Raja & asked for his help too. It is so amazing that Dhaani & Raja have this level of understanding where Dhaani knows that if there’s one person who will cross a river for her, it is Raja. Where Dhaani had her ulterior motive that Raja is unaware of, Raja also had an ulterior motive of helping Dhaani that she is unaware of as well. Raja actually got happy the moment he found out that Dhaani didn’t want to get married, because he thought that he stands a chance in Dhaani’s life now but little does he know that she is doing everything for Sameer.
I know in dramas where they have a love triangle, the writers focus more on showing the happy ending of a girl & the nicest guy who loves her ends up backing out just for the sake of happiness of the girl he loves. I have a feeling that may be Raja will back out too once he will find out about Dhaani & Sameer but after seeing both the guys & despite knowing that this won’t be happening, I am rooting for Raja & Dhaani because he genuinely is a nice guy & Sameer, not that much. I know Dhaani loves him for who he is but in this drama, I would love to see a guy getting a happy ending & not the girl, who has fallen for such a self-absorbed person. I actually thought that as the episodes will progress, I will understand & like Sameer’s character but that hasn’t happened till date & Dhaani clearly overshadows him. I like Raja better than Sameer for Dhaani, that is why I want to see them both ending up together because Raja has loved her & will continue to love her.
Well, Raja fulfilled the duty that Dhaani assigned to him with complete devotion as he knew that this would assure no marriage but the family of Amjad Ali paid no heed to the rumors they heard about her over the telephone & they came to put the proposal forward for Dhaani as they saw Kaleem’s decency & kindness. Dhaani found herself in deep trouble because even though she tried to prevent this from happening stealthily, she had to face Kaleem but luckily for her, even though Amjad’s family didn’t pay attention to the phone call they received, Bee Jee ended up conveying the things she heard from a stranger to Kaleem. I am sure Kaleem won’t ignore what Bee Jee told him because in any case he is trying hard to procrastinate the marriage of his daughters as he is not mentally ready for it & he has seen that ever since this proposal has been initiated, things have gone wrong one after another, so he will have all the reasons to say no to Amjad’s family.
Overall, this episode was quite interesting & I enjoyed watching it. I love the chemistry between Dhaani, Raja & Shaani, I love how they stick together as partners in crime & try to help each other to the best of their abilities, without questioning each other or without asking for explanations. The writer has written the script & the characters quite intelligently & I must say, the director has added a magical touch in this script through his flawless direction. Janaan promised to be a romantic comedy which would highlight the Pakhtoon culture. All the messages the film attempted to convey are relevant but does it manage to encapsulate the beauty of Swat and the attributes of the Pakhtoon culture? I would say not! The film challenges clichés about Pakhtoons but are the portrayals realistic or too modern? The best thing about this film is not its story but those two actors who make it worthwhile and its music. Bilal Ashraf and Hania Amir’s performances and perhaps good looks are the main reason why the viewers will have a reason to look forward to their upcoming projects and sit through Janaan. Janaan‘s soulful music adds some life to an otherwise lifeless story.
*Spoiler Alert*
Janaan opens with a verse from a Pashtu poet, which talks about attributes of Pakhtoon people. This opening raises the expectations of the viewers because all of a sudden you are looking forward to a very emotional drama which will have something bigger to offer instead of a romantic comedy.
The film opens with Meena (Armeena Rana Khan) packing her suitcases to leave for Pakistan. She is going to meet her family in Swat after 11 years of living in Canada. She goes there with a lot of preconceived notions. This opening gave the impression that the story was about Meena finding an identity in Swat, discovering her people and falling in love with them. All this eventually happened but at the end of the film you don’t feel like this was Meena’s story, this is Asfandyar’s (Bilal Ashraf) story more than it is Meena’s therefore it would have been much better if the story started in Swat and not in Canada! The first song Jhoom Le was beautifully shot; this song introduced the viewers to the natural beauty of Swat and its people. You expect to see more of this natural beauty as the story progresses forward but it doesn’t happen!

Its really sad when we see our own actresses arguing on live shows and its not just arguing rather they start insulting each other. Lately in the live show “Siyasi Theatre” on express news which is hosted by the famous Wasi Shah invited the film actresses Meera and Laila.
It was on the show when Meera passed a comment on Laila’s conversation and Laila started speaking wrong English and tried her level best to insult her to the max. Firstly ,this is so disturbing that our celebrities who are not fluent in English forcefully speak the language. Secondly these celebrities being public figures should not insult each other on live shows like that
