What got you into the field of acting?
Acting is something that just happened to me. I never wanted to be an actor. Although I was quite long-winded and convivial since my childhood but being an actor was never my dream. Even my first play Kaalak, I was coaxed to do it and after that, I thought that’s it – not anymore. I’m sure you would’ve heard about overnight success stories. People often talk about overnight success stories and this was indeed one of them for me. The telefilm got aired in the night and in the morning I was flooded with the huge feedback of calls and messages and what not.

What’s your favourite genre when it comes to acting?
Everything I can relate too. I’ve done a lot of drama particularly but comedy has always been something I look forward to doing.

What type of role would excite you the most and you would take it in a blink of an eye?
Again something I can relate to in some way. By relate I mean a role that has some depth in its sequence. Baano was one of the roles, Kiran and Marium Mukhtiar you know. A story of someone inevitable, a journey that can bring a change I guess. Don’t you think it was quite necessary to bring the story of Marium Mukhtiar on television for the people, to aware them who she was? It was, right? She was a national hero. Such roles always excite me and to be honest these all were the roles I took in a blink of an eye.

What did you do with your first pay cheque?
I don’t even remember. But yes I was very sterling kind of a person since my childhood. So when I was offered the drama, I had no car but I told the producers that I’ll come on my own car and they don’t need to pick me up. Without much ado, I actually rented a car back then and used to drive that to the sets and guess what all my pay cheque went on to pay the rentals.

What do you enjoy the most acting or hosting & why?
To epitomise, both. Acting is my passion and hosting is my work and I try to do everything from my heart, whatever it may be.

If you had to pick three things from a grocery store, what would you take?
This is a tough one, hahaha but I’d probably go for Davidoff Coffee, Milk and Chocolates.

Any funny incident from the sets that still makes you laugh?
From Kuch Pyaar Ka Pagalpan, there’s a scene where I go and slap Fawad for snapping my trust and all that, in the middle of the road. I’m barmy about my work and so is Fawad, ready to give 10 shots in a row without whining about it. Well since this was an intense scene, during the shots my tone was a bit erratic and we had to do the entire scene a couple of times again – and trust me on this, he didn’t say a word … so yes, such things, giving shots in the middle of the road again and again was I still think funny.

Do you get along with your co-stars easily?
Well, I try. But this is a two way process right.

Whenever you feel down or sad what do you do to make yourself feel better?
I go to my mother’s place, meet some friends and off course unwind with a good pedicure and manicure maybe.

Any character played by you so far which you think is close to your personality?
If you want me to answer it honestly; None. Off course all the characters may have a certain percentage in the kind of person I am but I don’t think I have played a role so far that can relate to me personally to a great extent.

If you were stuck in an airport where your flight was late what would you do to kill time?
This happened to me last year in summers’ when I was off to Thailand. I usually keep myself busy in conversations on the phone and also indulge with the person I’m travelling with. Also reading a book can be a good option.

What’s the best advice given to you by someone?
Be yourself!

How do you stay fit, do you follow any diet regime?
I go to gym – like two or three times in a week. And ahh… as far as my diet is concerned I don’t take junk food and soft drinks are out of the question for me. Once a week for Junk Food and Burgers when there’s an irresistible craving, otherwise I eat everything but in less quantity. Everyone clearly asks me not to reduce any more weight and be a skeleton skinny.

Any drama project you are currently working on?
I wouldn’t really talk about it right now. But, just to live up to the puffery post Ek Thi Marium, I have a script I’m working on, but I’ll not like to delve much into it before things get finalized and we go on the floor.

What’s your idea of a good human being?
We all know what is expected of us but we don’t do it. We all can distinguish between the good and bad, we’re well aware but still, we go for the bad path and when I think about it all I realize is that we’re the weak people compelled with the things, we’ve made ourselves – the non-living gubbins. We all need to revamp our destinations. So, I think a tolerant person, open to possibilities and naïve behind or at persons’ face is a good human being. I know there’s nobody perfect in this world, but we can try for perfection in some way. No?

I don’t have any regrets in my life except if I look at my professional life, so no advice particularly. I do believe in everything that happens for a reason and good but to some extent, everything that happens lies in our acts as well.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Still doing the morning show, working on a film and maybe running for elections, just kidding.Haha you know I always wanted to be the Prime Minister of Pakistan since childhood. So yeah, I don’t plan things in life, let’s see where the waves take me. Learning and doing better is a never ending process. Right now at this particular frame of time, I’m just thinking to go with the flow and be a maestro at whatever I do. I look forward creating a new wave in popular culture that builds on our social identity through the exploration of our home-grown and inherited art forms.

Ace writer and the grand daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Fatima Bhutto has tied the knot in an intimate family event. Fatima Bhutto got married to Graham (Gibran) in a private family function which was held in their house in Clifton. The news was shared by Fatima Bhutto’s brother Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He announced the news of his sister’s marriage on his Twitter account. Zulfikar Bhutto also shared the beautiful picture of bride and groom from private Nikah ceremony.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto wrote, “On behalf of our father, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto and the Bhutto family, I’m very happy to share some happy news. My sister Fatima and Graham were married in an intimate nikah ceremony yesterday at our home, 70 Clifton.”. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto further said that the event was attended by the loved ones of Fatima and family. He also briefly explained why they didn’t celebrate the wedding in a lavish manner. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto wrote, “The ceremony was attended by Fatima’s loved ones in our grandfather’s library, a place that means a lot to my dear sister. Due to the difficult circumstances felt by our fellow countrymen and women, we all felt it would be inappropriate to celebrate lavishly” He further urged public to pray for his sister, “Please keep Fatima and Graham (Gibran) in your prayers. Kanwal Ahmed, the founder of women’s Facebook group Soul Sisters Pakistan, has been featured by Cartier at the Women’s Pavilion at Dubai’s Expo 2020. Dubbed as the “Pakistani Oprah”, Ahmed hosts and produces a digital talk show titled Conversations with Kanwal, which is centered around providing a safe space for women to tell their stories and is currently on its third season.

The audience highly praised Kanwal’s effort, meanwhile one of the social media site accused Kanwal after being featured in Dubai Expo 2020. Naseeruddin Shah is a veteran Indian actor who has also appeared in Pakistani film, Shoaib Mansoor’s Khuda Kay Liye.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Naseeruddin Shah compared the actors of India with that of Pakistan and said, “Hindi actors have always been dying to go to Hollywood. They would give their arms to go to there. It’s like Pakistani actors are dying to come to India. Pakistani people consider Bollywood to be the ultimate! I go there and they say ‘waah kya films banai hai.”

In Pakistan, there are many actors, like Shan, who are not ecstatic about Pakistani actors working in India. Similarly, Naseeruddin Shah is not happy with Indian actors making their way into Hollywood. “These people who are tom-tomming their entry into Hollywood are all going to come back very soon. Because Hollywood has no place for an Asian to play a lead. It’s a one-off thing.”

Muneeb Butt and Aiman Khan were recently seen as the guests at The Couple Show which is hosted by Hina Altaf and Agha Ali. In one of the segments when Aagha Ali and the Male guest have one to one question-answer session. Aagha Ali asked Muneeb Butt: “Muneeb who do you think is PARCHI among the youngsters of the industry?” Muneeb replied: “I think as compared to other actors it was easy for Azaan Sami Khan”

Faysal Qureshi in his recent interview revealed that powerful characters of women are not much liked by the audience in our society.

Faysal Quraishi mentioned that they have many times tried to build strong and powerful character of a women in dramas, they have shown that how a girl can fight and stand up for her rights and strongly face the society. “But to be honest, we don’t get ratings for these kinds of dramas”, added Faysal.

“There are many drama serials in which we tried to give strong messages to the society, but unfortunately the audience didn’t liked to watch those dramas”, said Faysal.

Furthermore, Faysal said that “Mostly our audience likes to watch dramas which consist of the women who gives up and does not fight for her rights, these kind of stories get more ratings as compared to the ones consisting of strong characters”.

Abdullah is a young, tall and good looking Pakistani singer and a musician who has gained his position in the industry in a short time with his mellifluous voice. He also opened up about working with the big stars and how he puts in effort to make the scenes look beautiful.

In the recent episode, we saw Mohid falling into the pool and how he was taken to the hospital after rescue. Abu Huraiara said that he is not a swimmer in real life and did not know how to swim when he performed that scene. He has an interesting story to tell going forward.

Abu Huraira spoke about shooting this scene for Meem Se Mohabbat. He said that he recited a lot of duas and prepared himself before he jumped into the pool. He added that it was shot on 25th December and it was very cold when he performed those scenes. He is also happy with the outcome and shared that he was not scared while jumping in.

Abu Aleeha is right now the most successful film director of Pakistan. He has made several films like Taxali Gate, Super Punjabi and Javed Iqbal. He knows how to make a film on a small budget and his films have largely been financially successful. The director was a guest on The Wire podcast and spoke about the future and past of the film industry in Pakistan.

He spoke about the ban on Indian films and how it has affected the cinemas. He said that banning Indian films stopped footfalls from coming to cinemas which was a bad decision for our industry. He also shared that it is not actually the Pakistani government that banned Bollywood films but the other way around.

Abu Aleeha said that Indians stopped taking any distributors for Bollywood films in Pakistan and it is them who did not want to release any work here. He added that they banned Pakistani artists and talent from working in India and we just stopped releasing Bollywood films as a counter measure.

Absolut Manto was performed at the International Theatre and Music Festival of the National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa) on Sunday.

A production of Olomopolo Media from Lahore, director Kanwal Khoosat presented Karachiites with a glimpse of Manto, his life, his work and philosophy of tolerance, and several of his short stories were brought to life by actors Sania Saeed, Sarmad Khoosat, Feryal Ali Gauhar and Erfan Khoosat.

Saeed began the dramatic reading with Manto’s Yazid and her performance was brilliant.

There were some technica difficulties in the play. However, that did not affect the actor’s performance at all.

Erfan Khoosat’s rendition of Manto’s Toba Tek Singh was also done well. It is a popular story which was well-received by most in the audience

The Napa International Theatre and Music Festival will run till April 2 with different plays and musical performances as part of the offering.

Famous TV personality and PTI MNA Aamir Liaquat Hussain who passed away in Karachi on Thursday was laid at rest on Friday at the Abdullah Shah Ghazi graveyard in Karachi, after a long delay over an autopsy. Aamir Liaquat’s son Ahmed Aamir led the funereal prayers, which was attended by a large number of people, including showbiz stars, politicians, family and friends. According to Chippa welfare organization Aamir had already booked a grave in the graveyard of Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine, next to his parents grave.

Recently, famous Pakistani actor Faysal Qureshi turned to his official Instagram account to share his thoughts on the absence of prominent celebrities on Aamir Liaquat’s funereal. Faysal while showering his anger on the use of social media these days, mentioned that “Yeah duniya sirf social media tak reh gayi hai, koi jiye mary bas status laga do. Shirkat na bhi ho bas kuch likh do taakay her jagah chap jaye.”

Baby Shark is a song with a catchy tune and flashy visuals, that has caught the fancy of children across the world and made a number of parents and teachers roll their eyes. Although it is unclear who the original writer of the song is, it is said to be a popular American campfire song that has been sung and recreated a couple of times. However, Baby Shark became a global sensation after it was remixed and recreated by the Seoul-based production company Pinkfong. Sung by 10-year-old Korean-American singer Hope Segoine, the video of the English version of the song, released in June 2016, broke the record of being the most-watched. The Baby Shark became the most favorite song of children in Pakistan too. In school, at birthday parties, at home, while feeding food to babies, the “Baby Shark” has become a must for our children.

Abrar-ul-Haq recently while addressing the audience during a national event said that when we were young our mothers used to teach us Kalma, now mothers give phones to their children with “Baby Shark” playing on it. The way Abrar-ul-Haq said it made everyone laugh out loud.

Bollywood is now making headlines in Pakistan because of their unethical act of copying Pakistani songs and dramas, the world’s popular industry is solely relying on plagiarism. In recent past, they have copied numerous Pakistani songs and videos including Royyiaan, Bol Kaffara, Buhey Bariaan, Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, Ki Jaana and now they copied the popular and block buster song Nach Punjaban. The singer Abrar Ul Haq is extremely angry and he has given a long video statement on the matter. Upon a question, “There is an Indian Movie Jug Jug Jio, your song Nach Punjaban has been added into their film, what would you say?

The singer replied, “I was told by someone that my song has been stolen, I haven’t sold my song, I don’t even know about it, it is a theft, no one even asked and its my fourth or fifth song,copied by Bollywood, they make movies worth billions of rupees and astonishingly they don’t have their own content for those movies. I have hired lawyers’ team, it’s a digital world and it is the game of revenues and they still believe in copying, also, I could give song to them but they have sung it so bad, one puts effort in singing, they didn’t even do that, I don’t want to give my song this way, I will give away if I would want, I will ask my people”.

“Maybe I can give them on a single thing like showing solidarity with Kashmir. Bollywood has no content, no creativity, yes, they have good writers but they are failed in music. A good music piece like Billo changes life and stealing a song is a biggest crime”, he further added.

Abrar ul Haq and Jawad Ahmed are two huge stars of Pakistan. They have been at loggerheads since the start of their careers and Jawad has time and again called Abrar names and they have fought very publicly. The duo have never had a moment of peace and though their career trajectories were similar, they never saw eye to eye.

Abrar ul Haq was a guest on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast and shared that he has tried many times to be at peace with Jawad but he was too skeptical of him. She said to me, ‘I am not well, I am going to recite Namaz, you always tease me’, and I went to pick the call up but when I came back in to the room, I saw my mother lying still. I saw if she was breathing, which she was. I went outside but then I thought to check again, my mother’s heart wasn’t beating, she peacefully passed, the way she used to pray. I was just shocked, I could not cry. We started reciting Darood Sharif. My father, also came into the room, he was seeing her again and again. I didn’t let my family cry. One of my sisters said, ‘Ya Allah we accepted your decision, now you forgive her’. Then I cried.

He also said that children should do charity after the passing of their parents. He said, “I urge my friends to do maximum charity in the name of their parents”.

He also gave message to the people who treat their parents badly. He said, “it is unacceptable and unforgivable deed. Ask for forgiveness from parents otherwise you won’t be forgiven by Allah”

Abrar ul Haq and Mishi Khan are two big names of the industry. They have been engaged in a war of words for some days now after Mishi Khan gave her opinion on Abrar ul Haq’s statement. What happened was Abrar ul Haq appeared on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast and opened up about getting a film offer opposite Katrina Kaif. He revealed that he rejected the offer as he was not comfortable with the contract and gag on freedom of speech. Mishi Khan came out and criticized him that if he had gotten an offer, why is he even sharing this now.

Abrar ul Haq also came with a rebuttal where he said that he does not know who Mishi is and she might die if she ever gets an offer from Bollywood.
