Making of the Tarang Telefilm ‘Aaina’

0

Just a month or so ago, Saba Qamar was seen in Faysal Qureshi’s morning show and they both expressed their wish to work together sometime. It seems like their wish to work together was heard by Sarmad Khoosat who happens to be their mutual friend and he casted them together for the remake of the movie ‘Aaina’ as we had earlier reported. Faysal Qureshi seems enthusiastic about his upcoming project and has continuously been posting pictures from the set of ‘Aaina’. The promos have gone on air and they have managed to capture the interest of many as Saba and Faysal’s chemistry is very apparent even in the promos

Here is a small song teaser of the telefilm:

Below are the videos from the making of the telefilm and a few pictures. The content below may contain spoilers:

An Exclusive Interview of Fawad Khan from Hello Magazine!!

It was only a few days ago that we shared a news that Fawad Khan gave an exclusive interview to the Hello! Magazine that placed him on Hello!’s cover. Since the day I aired the news, I had been in search of its soft copy and finally got a hold of it. The catchy line on its cover by fawad “I have transformed from  frog to a prince” is enough to make you read this interview where Fawad has revealed his heart out.

“Mera Naseeb” to air on an Indian Channel!

0

Pakistan’s drama industry has evolved significantly well over the last 10 years, making the country stand among the countries that are known for their quality in the world of entertainment. If you are following the series of remakes of Pakistani old movies, you would surely agree that there is a day soon expected when we would see our Lollywood industry flourishing as well. While we see the Turkish dramas running on our  local channels, it is more than a treat to find that even our dramas are now been watched by people all over the world and there are some Indian channels actually that are showing our tradition, our culture and our ideologies, also giving the credit.

It was humsafar that laid the foundation of this trend which never happened in the history of Pakistani entertainment where a pakistani show has been run on an Indian channel. Wonders, there was a time when the Pakistani audience went all nuts with the Indian drama craze, but now things seem viceversa.

Just after the successful airing of Humsafar on Rishtey TV, It is now Mera Naseeb which will be aired on the channel. The Indian audience seems anxious about the project and the  promo is already on air. Mera Naseeb is a Pakistani drama that went on air on HUM TV starring Syra Yusuf, Sanam Saeed, Adeel Hussain, Samina Peerzada, Rubina Ashraf, Bushra Ansari and many other names that contributed in making the drama a hit.

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 12 – A Heart-wrenching Episode!

0

This week’s episode was one of the best so far in my view. It had all the elements to make us sit on the edge of our seats. There was one twist after the other which kept me hooked throughout. The main focus of the episode was Silah finally realizing Zoya’s true intentions and trying her best to get Zoya out of their lives.

The episode started off with Adeel’s birthday and Silah brought a cake for him like she does every year. It reminded me of the episode where she brings a gift and cake for Adeel on his birthday last year and both of them along with Adeel’s mother celebrated his birthday. Wonderful times, weren’t they? Well, this year when she reached home she found that Zoya had already brought a cake for Adeel and then Zoya came along all dressed up and Adeel and Zoya both cut the cake while she was sidelined and ignored. This was the last straw for Silah and she openly showed her anger and dislike towards Zoya after this.

dmm 2

Silah’s attitude towards Zoya completely changed after this as she had finally realized what Zoya had been up to all this time and she had been too dense to sense it. She clearly asked her why she did not tell her that she took the money from her for Adeel’s birthday gift. Zoya was surprised and shocked at her question and tried to explain unsuccessfully. Zoya did not leave this golden chance to fill Adeel’s ears against Silah and she told him that Silah was upset that she brought a gift for him and this was not the end of her rant of course! She instigated him against Silah and said that she is from a big family and she treats you like her sole possession and has no respect for you and how he should have married someone of his own status. You can always depend on Zoya to twist word! I was completely seething throughout this scene and what made me angrier was that Adeel believed every word that Zoya said.

Silah then took the decision to get a new maid for Affan but Adeel was not happy about her decision and refused to allow her to replace Zoya with a maid. Silah completely lost control of her anger when she complained about Affan’s health and Adeel said that she is just trying to find a reason to blame Zoya. She finally told him that Zoya had been taking money from her from the very first day and what shocked me the most was that Adeel did not believe her! She then tried to reveal Zoya’s true intention to Adeel and in return got slapped by Adeel!

What happens next? Well, as expected Silah was the one who went and apologized to Adeel for her behavior and she even apologized to Zoya! I could not believe it when she went to Zoya and apologized for being rude to her and Zoya was pretending to be extremely upset by her. How pathetic! But I was glad to see that Adeel’s behavior towards her improved after this and both seemed concerned about Affan’s health. Silah also decided to leave her job which was the root cause of all her problems in the first place.

Zoya did not seem happy about Silah’s decision to leave her job when she heard it from Adeel and told Adeel that he should have stopped her. Adeel did not have much to say about this as he was concerned about Affan’s health which had been deteriorating for a while now. He made the biggest mistake by leaving Affan in the care of Zoya’s mother who seemed least concerned about the sick child.

The best episode of the scene was when Silah called Zoya and her mother picked up the phone and she heard Affan crying in the background. Just then she saw Adeel with Zoya on the bike and realized that Zoya was not there to take care of Affan. This made her panic even more as she already had this gut feeling that something was not right when she had called Adeel and he had told her that he was out to get Affan’s reports. The scene where she gets out of her car and runs to her house was brilliantly directed and Sanam Jung was too brilliant for words in this scene. Her acting completely stole my heart!

dil muzter 1

I really hope nothing happens to Affan when she reaches home. They ended the episode on a cliff hanger and now I cannot wait for the next episode. The preview for the next episode seems interesting as Silah will finally leave her house and go back to her old house. One thing that I found highly amusing in this episode was the Indian music playing in the background. It ruined the charm of a very intense scene!

Do share your views on the episode!

‘Aunn Zara’ to go on-air from May 25th!

0

What makes a channel hit is the quality of content been aired on it and most importantly, the celebrities that are seen on screen. After many years of trying really bad to survive in a highly competitive market, A-Plus,  a local channel has something spicy to attract some viewership finally.

“Aun Zaara” is an upcoming venture of the channel, featuring Maya Ali, Osman Khalid Butt, Sabrin Habsani , Hina Bayat and Nasreen Qureshi. Been produced by MNM productions, the serial is written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Haissem Hussain(director of Dastan,Durr-e-Shehwar), who himself is an added ingredient to support the possible success of this serial.

734396_502013879836176_527730166_n

The story of the serial revolves around the plot where the husband wants to seek his wife’s attention but the wife fails in keeping her husband happy, though she proves herself as an ideal daughter-in-law for his family. Osman Khaled will be seen in a  role of a rich, spoiled guy, which would be a new shade of his acting skills.

The drama will go on air from My 25th,
Stay tuned,

Zindagi Gulzar Hai Episode 25 – The Confrontation

This episode started off on a very positive note and I really did not see all the fireworks coming. Zaroon and Kashaf’s conversation about good parenting, sharing and not talking about problems was very mature and Zaroon deserved the credit for it completely. He wanted to listen to Kashaf’s problems and do something for her but Kashaf is still too used to solving her problems herself and won’t allow Zaroon to do so for her. The whole “sharing” conversation actually seemed ironic later on in more ways than one! Kashaf was so sure that Zaroon won’t hide anything from her ever …why would she expect that by the way if she believed in leading a “secret life” herself! Does Kashaf have double standards too? Okay that was a joke, lets not even go there!

episode 25episode 25 1

Of course we all knew that there was going to be a confrontation between the two but I had no idea it was going to be so intense and fiery. Sanam Saeed and Fawad Khan both were brilliant in that particular scene and the timing was perfect. Kashaf said everything to Zaroon that she should have said and Zaroon also came out with everything that had been weighing on his mind till now. The confrontation could have been even better if the same issue of “why did I ever get married to you in the first place” did not pop up and Kashaf did not accuse Zaroon of having an affair directly. Kashaf did prove today that she really is too emotional and too insecure for her own good. Zaroon’s reaction to the Osama proposal now seems much less unreasonable considering what Kashaf did today. The accusation just went to prove that deep inside Kashaf still feels the same way about Zaroon as she did years back and had never really learned to trust him fully. Yes Zaroon is a hypocrite, he has double standards but surely a wife should know her husband better. My thoughts are based on what we have seen till now, in the next episode it seems like Zaroon is actually going to be talking to Asmara about his marital problems (Fawad Khan Stop doing that! First Madiha, now Asmara!). That of course is something very very wrong, So, I may have something completely different to say after watching the next episode. I am all for Kashaf walking out on Zaroon but only to teach him a lesson and to make him realize how wrong he was with his double standards, not because she thought he was cheating on her.

episode 24

Everything that happened in the past few episodes went to show that Kashaf was still in the process of trusting Zaroon without any reservations, so this new revelation came as a rude shock. Kashaf may have walked away from Zaroon but her reaction to the “divorce nightmare” went to show that she was not ready to leave Zaroon. It is obviously not that easy to walk out of a relationship and Kashaf realizes that now.

episode 24 2

The most satisfying aspect of today’s episode had to be the way Rafia refused help from Murtaza. Not only this, but Rafia also feels for Murtaza because he managed to ruin his life with his own two hands. She feels she has managed to make the most out of her life whereas Murtaza completely lost everything. I loved the way Rafia explained to Kashaf how she had won and Murtaza was left with nothing. This whole time Rafia was being “polite” to Murtaza only because she felt sorry for him and not because she wanted recognition from him. Today, after so many days I felt the same way about Rafia’s character as I used to in the beginning episodes; absolutely loved the positivity of her thoughts and the way she looks at things.

rafiamurtaza

This episode proved to be very engaging and intense – I guess we all deserved it too! This was a great episode in terms of acting and the direction was excellent too. The only problem I have with the show is ke Kashaf ko shukar ki philosophy abhi tuk samajh nahi aye – wasn’t this shikway se shukar tuk ka safar? It seems like Zaroon and Kashaf’s problems will not be resolved in the next episode…how many more to go?

Adhoori Aurat Episode 5 – Fast Paced and Brilliant!

0

I am glad that we finally got to see a fast paced and extremely entertaining episode this week. It kept me hooked throughout and that does not happen often. I usually lose interest after a few minutes and skim through the rest of the episode to get an idea of what happened. The first 15 minutes were mainly focused on Maryam’s family contemplating and speculating whether to agree to Zayaan’s proposal or not. I am glad that they showed this because it would not make any sense if they agreed to the proposal wholeheartedly despite knowing that Zayaan’s family is not in favor of the marriage.

Zayaan had clearly told Maryam’s family that his mother is not happy with his marriage to Maryam as she wants him to marry someone else and she would not be present in his wedding either. He tried to convince them by giving them assurance that he would keep Maryam happy no matter what the circumstances are. Zareena was the only person in the whole family who was keen to get Maryam married to Zayaan but the rest were being more practical and thinking about Maryam’s future in Zayaan’s house.

Maryam’s father and her brother were not in favor of her marriage to Zayaan but when they heard Mariam’s opinion on the marriage, they also agreed. It was very apparent that Sultan was still not in favor of the marriage. Zareena was the happiest to hear this and she immediately Zayaan to give him the good news. I personally liked the way Maryam’s father clearly gave her a fair picture of what the circumstances would be once she marries Zayaan. She would face a lot of difficulties and would need to work really hard to make a place in that house and once she gets married, there would be no tuning back. Maryam’s final words, however, convinced him that she is up for the challenge:

“Ap Mujhe Per Yaqeen Ker Sakhte Hai, Mein Har Haal Mein Nibhaongi’

I personally think it was wrong of Zayaan to agree to his marriage with Faiza and then take his proposal to Maryam’s house at the same time. He should have said no to the marriage when Maryam agreed to get married to him but he remained silent and let all the arrangement for his marriage to happen. He was not right to break Faiza’s heart and dreams in such a cruel manner. He was being pressurized, I agree but he should have had enough sense not to create such a big mess! He should have at least thought about Afshah and how her life would be affected by his decision. It was very selfish on Zayaan’s part to keep his family in the dark and get married to Maryam and bring her to his house all of a sudden and shock everyone.

The scene in which he brings Maryam to his house after his Nikkah was too dramatic! He confidently came inside the house with a scared Maryam in tow and that too in the middle of the proceedings of his Dholki. He managed to shock everyone to the core and later his mother gave him a fair piece of her mind. Maryam had acted very brave before but his mother’s reaction shook her and she got extremely upset. However, Zayaan managed to console her and gave her the assurance that his mother would calm down very soon and accept her. It was one of my favorite scenes of the episode!

1df4ccd0-0d73-4f47-b0ca-764a48c90bf3wallpaper

I knew Khurram would not remain silent after what happened with his sister and he did the only thing that was in his hand in the current situation and that is to leave Afshah. He kicked her out of his house and told her not to come back! I always knew something like this would happen as Khurram has always been very sensitive whenever it comes to Faiza.

I am waiting to know what will happen next! The preview for the next episode seemed pretty interesting. I must say, Maheen Rizvi was brilliant today as Faiza. The scene where she breaks down in front of the mirror was just brilliant! The role suits her perfectly! I do not think I need to say anything about Faisal Qureshi, I can never find anything wrong with him. He can easily fit into any character very easily. Ayeza was also good but Maheen stood out more in this episode.

So did you guys like the episode?

Mirat-ul-Uroos Episode 27 – Review

This latest episode had nothing new to offer and I think that it is about time that Mirat-ul-Uroos came to an end! The dialogues and the happenings are getting very repetitive and there isn’t much to look forward to. The story picked up momentum in the previous few episodes but now we are at a standstill. I think the viewers know very well now that Ayza is fazool kharch so there is no point in repeating it over and over again since they have touched upon all the different aspects of her fazool kharch nature.

Faraan decided to take a stand against the engagement function and his reaction was not taken well by anyone. Even his father thought that there was nothing wrong with the idea of having a function but Faraan rightly believes that one thing leads to another so it was better that there was no confusion regarding his opinion on the issue. Akbari retaliated by leaving Nasir’s house and moving in with Ayza – I am waiting to find out how Hammad will react to this decision. Ayza is expecting again and making the most of it! Hammad’s conversation with his parents about him not being able to give kharcha and his father’s reaction had to be the best part of the episode. Indeed, some things cannot be bought with money!

Ayza and Akbari like always were on the same page as far as the engagement celebrations were concerned and Ayza even had the guts to talk to Ayza about the issue. I really liked the way Aima told Ayza off in a very apt way, she was right; surely Ayza should not be worried about keeping ties with family and all since she has done everything in her power to keep Hammad away from his own family. Hammad is not a child of course and he is just as much at fault as is Ayza. If he cannot understand what his parents are going through because of his selfish attitude then it would be wrong to expect Ayza to look out for his parents. Hammad does not agree with anything Ayza has to say but he still does not have the guts to stand up to her and not just that, he also follows his lead like he doesn’t have a mind of his own.

Faraan should get engaged and finally married to Hamna now; they will actually make a good match since they think on the same lines. When and how that is going to happen, I am waiting to find out and also I am wondering if Amna will be comfortable with the idea. She did say to Aima that she did not want her son to get married to a girl who was divorced. Aima’s biggest concern right now is to get her son in a good school and Askari believes that he shouldn’t necessarily go to a big school. Aima did not disagree with her but it seemed like she wanted to put him in a good school. I hope this “issue” is not dragged further like the car! This was the 27th episode and I have started wondering now, how many more to go? Did you watch this episode? Do you think it is time to wrap things up. Why are our dramas stretched unnecessarily? Doesn’t anyone out there care about what the viewers want?

Silvatein Episode 15 – Review.

0

Well I must say that Natasha’s repetitive nuisance is getting tedious. I hope to see some change in her may be equal to an ounce but some change in her please.

All this while the only thing that comes as a breath of fresh air of Zeb & Rayaan. Their growing chemistry & their relation is something appeasing. I absolutely love how they both are complimenting each other. I feel that this drama offers such chemistry between the leads which is far better than those few over-rated dramas. This drama, due to the plot may not have gotten the following which it deserves but once you get to know the characters, this is one good serial on-air & I’m glad I am not missing it at all.

All this while I kept on smiling whenever I saw Zeb & Rayaan together. I loved, I loved, I loved their kitchen scene & their confessions a lot. Rayaan is being extra cautious because he doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes which he thinks he committed while being married to Mahjabeen. & Zeb on the other hand is being cautious as she lost Mikaal because she was being head-strong. For now & for good Zeb is trying to be submissive & forgiving & they both are actually enjoying the benefits of being together just because they tried to make some changes after learning from their bad experiences. All the dialogues that Rayaan said to her came out of respect for her & of all the things he said to her the best one was pointing out why she was blaming herself for everything related to Natasha or how she was acting.

Another thing worth mentioning here was Rayaan’s utmost attention to Zeb & the annoying string attached to her as Natasha. He was being tolerant & ignored whatever Natasha blurted at Zeb’s face in front of her whole family. He wanted to take things in his hands & even tried to dictate Zeb at how she should handle the situation but when Zeb wanted to take over he backed out easily after understanding his wife’s point of view. This shows that he actually holds Zeb really close to his heart & will let her do anything that she deems fit.

I must say Bilal’s submissiveness & Natasha’s dominance is getting a bit boring now. This couple makes things look stagnant. Just when I see them I feel things have stopped & they have lowered the pace of the whole serial a couple of notches. I am seriously getting bored at Bilal now.

I know Bilal is an ideal guy who’d make any girl happy but being submissive doesn’t mean you’re playing your part completely & responsibly. I hate to see Natasha pushing all the wrong buttons & still walking with her head held high all the time. I loved how Rayaan summarized easily that Bilal is the one who bought the situation to this level & now he should handle it. He was so right.

One more thing was revealed about Bilal that he’s such a baby himself. He felt running away after a heated argument was the best way to escape a situation. At that point when Natasha was being chummy with him – I felt finally she has had a change of heart or may be a little but she was actually using the absence of her Jeth & Jethani to brain feed Bilal openly against his & her own sisters. I really hate to see Natasha use Bilal as a stooge & I hate to see him act like such a rain-soaked puppy who has lost his way & is ready to follow anyone blindly. I at first, felt that Bilal was such a perfect guy but ever since Rayaan’s character has jumped in, that feeling of mine has subsided completely.

I hope to see some changes & some progress in their story or else if they’re erased from the whole scene I can continue watching Zeb & Rayaan without a doubt. Similarly, I feel that the scene of Munize’s ban on entering her brother’s home is getting a bit too stretched now, they should either solve it or if not, just leave it at that. There’s no point in reminding us about what Munize’s feeling or is going through in each & every episode. Her character is another confused one because at one point she gets upset & on the other she is all praises for Zeb. By her frowning face & her phone calls, her character is at the verge of making people grow out of her as well.

Well I’m loving the serial in some bits & pieces but these riddles & puzzles are getting hard to handle. I hope I never get to see Natasha again. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Imran Abbas and His Stroke of Bad Luck!

0

Imran Abbas Naqvi is one of the finest young actors of recent times and has been in the industry for a long time now. He is popular for his striking good looks accompanied by his brilliant acting. He started his career as a model and turned into a Television actor later on. He initial plays include Umrao Jaan Ada, Love Stories and popular plays directed by Sultana Siddiqui like Qismat Ke Sitaray and Jannat. However, he came in the limelight and won the hearts of millions through his spectacular performance in Khuda aur Muhabbat, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishaan, Akhbari Asghari, and Mere Paas Paas Sequel. He is also seen in the show Dil-e-Muztar which is currently on air on Hum TV and was recently seen in the Tarang telefilm Anjuman opposite Sara Loren.

imran abbass 3

Like many other Pakistani actors, Imran Abbas has been trying for a long time to get into Bollywood. He has come close to signing many films but nothing really worked out in the past few years. However, he finally signed Anthony D’Souza’s film opposite Akshay Kumar called ‘Naam Hai Boss’ but bad luck played its part again and Imran lost the role as he violated the terms of contract.

Apparently, producer Ashwin Varde had signed Imran on an exclusive contract with his company. The deal prohibited the newbie from getting involved with any other film. “But Imran unknowingly auditioned for another project starring one of the big Khans. That irked the makers, who have been sponsoring Imran’s training, accommodation and other expenses all this while. After the breach of contract, Imran was dropped from the film. After the debacle, Imran immediately departed for Pakistan. He came back dejected and disappointed by the misfortune and signed Momina Duraid’s show Dil-e-Muztar and we saw him back on screen after a long time.

A friend of Imran stated: “Imran didn’t sign up for any film. If he had, the makers would have had all the right to fire him. But he only auditioned. I don’t understand how any contract can stop you from auditioning for random films.”

It was highly unfortunate for Imran to miss out on such a big opportunity. However, this was not the end of his bad luck. Apparently, he had been offered the Indian movie ‘Aashiqui 2’ produced by the Bhatt camp which he had declined. Though, the reason for not opting for this movie is not yet clear as we do not know whether he declined to do the role or if he could not do the movie as he had already signed a movie contract.

Aashiqui 2 had surprisingly turned out to be a SUPER blockbuster of the year 2013. It has earned 62 crores in India in just 17 days and 3 crores in overseas. It has got outstanding reviews and its music has become a rage all over. Imran Abbas highly regrets declining the movie as he posted on his twitter:

photo(87)

He was seen appreciating the movie and congratulated the makers on the success of Aashiqui 2 as he twitted to Mahesh Bhatt:

Well, this has turned out to be the biggest stroke of bad luck of his life as the leads of the movie, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor has become superstars overnight!

But now after a series of unfortunate events, he is finally making his debut with actor Bipasha Basu in a film titled “Creature” being produced by Bhushan Kumar and directed by Vikram Bhatt. Imran who was in Mumbai recently spoke to Times of India and said, “Yes it is true that I have signed the movie “Creature” where I shall act with Bipasha Basu. The shooting dates are yet to be finalized. I was in Mumbai for the final discussion and shall be back again for the shooting of the movie very soon.”

He had recently finished shooting for Dil-e-Muztar and is now heading off to Mumbai soon to start the shooting of his new movie according to his new tweet:

We wish the best of luck to Imran Abbas for his upcoming movie and hope that nothing ill meets his way this time!

Are Our Dramas Getting Too Serious?

0

The week just started and like every other week I am looking forward to watching the “few dramas” I watch on weekly basis. I have to admit that there was a time when I completely stopped watching dramas primarily because nothing appealed to me anymore and I got addicted to Star world since one can’t do without television of course….well I can’t for sure!! Star world had some very entertaining shows to offer, some used to make me sad and lots more that cheered me up. When my kids were old enough to notice what I was watching on television and started asking questions, I decided that Star World wasn’t exactly a family channel and slowly started resorting to watching Pakistani drama channels. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that things had changed a great deal since the last time I watched a drama channel; there were a lot of good dramas on air and now I can’t do without my prime time shows in particular.

Most of the times I cannot watch dramas on television except for the weekends, because I need to get the kids in bed at that time. So, most often I catch the dramas online and since dramasonline most often uploads those plays that go on air in prime time so they are always the ones I get hooked to and look forward to every week. Watching these plays is my favorite pastime once my kids go to bed. Now lately, I have started feeling that watching these dramas is no longer light entertainment but it is very heavy duty indeed. There is hardly a drama during the week which is a light play with a good story that will prove to be engaging as well. Here is what I watch throughout the week, let me know if I am missing out on any dramas that will not make me sad for a change.

Rehai

I watch Rehaii on Mondays; there is no denying the fact that it is a very good play that conveys all the right messages. It does not only highlight the hardships faced by women in our society but also gives solutions. The acting by all the actors is super; it has been written very well and directed superbly also. For the past few weeks I was enjoying Rehaii because things were looking up for the oppressed women in the play but this week’s episode brought in more problems for them and I was yet again left feeling for them and all the other women like them in our society. Yes, the play made me sad; in fact I found it difficult to sleep after watching it!!

ullu baraye farokht naiApart from watching Rehaii on Monday, I am also hooked to Nanhii…I know double dose of sadness!! It is also one of those plays which I can’t seem to miss and I must catch up with it during the week if not on the same day. Nanhii is also the story of how women are exploited in our society and the problems faced by people who live in the downtrodden areas…not exactly light entertainment but very heavy-duty indeed.
I wasn’t watching any play in particular on Tuesdays before but when Ullu Barai Farokht Nahi started I was very tempted to find out what it had to offer. For now, the good performances and the sheer curiosity to find out what happens next make me watch it every week. Ullu Barai Farokht Nahi Is about the feudal system prevalent in the rural areas…very depressing indeed. It is dark and definitely a little scary, it takes you into a world of its own and most certainly gives you tons to think about *sigh*.

nnhi

No dramas for me on Wednesdays, I guess because all the heavy duty “entertainment” starting from Monday takes its toll on me and I need a break! I know I could just stop watching these plays but I cannot!! If I do not watch these dramas I feel like I am missing out. Sometimes on Wednesdays I catch up with telefilms or Kitni Girhi Baaki Hai and trust me it does not help!! I am not saying at all that these dramas are not worth watching, not at all; all the dramas that I mentioned till now and will mention later on are definitely worth my time but all I am saying is that there are way too many serious dramas that go on air all through the week and you cannot watch these drams with your mind switched off while you are watching them and even later on they stay with you. Even the telefilms are too serious and can sometimes haunt you for days.

mirat ul uroos

I watch on Thursdays Mirat-ul-Uroos and Silvatein. Mirat-ul-Uroos is not as dark and gloomy as the rest of the plays that I have mentioned till now but it also deals with a lot of social issues and there is no comic element in the play. The play is serious by all standards. Silvatein does not deal with social issues and the likes but the different tracks and characters are so complicated that you can’t actually watch it with a carefree state of mind. It is definitely a little less serious and sad then rest of the plays, so yes it is always good to have a dose of Silvatein after watching all the sad and serious dramas.

Fridays of course are Zindagi Gulzar Hai nights…but kiya wakihi Zindagi Gulzar Hai? A question many of my friends have asked so many times – thank you for the line guys:). Zindagi Gulzar Hai for many weeks was the show I used to look forward to more than any other and watching it proved to be a relaxing experience. It can be a light-hearted play if one watches it with zero expectations and does not try to make sense out of the happenings…tough job I know!!

Dil-e-Muzter on Saturday has managed to keep me entertained without any stress involved but it seems like there is going to be a lot of rona dhona in Dil-e-Muzter as well in the upcoming episodes. But yes definitely better than the rest of the lot.

I watch Hamsnheen on Saturdays and I have to say that even with a very clichéd storyline, it has managed to keep me entertained. The story isn’t comical or light-hearted of course but the fact that I don’t take it very seriously helps!

Which plays are you following nowadays? Are you tired of watching sorrowful dramas that leave you gloomy and upset? Do you think that we have excess of sad dramas nowadays? Would you like a couple of meaningless, light hearted dramas during the week which you can watch with your thinking button switched off? Dramas that do not have underlying larger than life messages but just entertain us…..Please feel free to share your views.

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 16 – Review

0

The whole episode revolved around Minahil and Bilal’s breakup and how he Bilal tries to convince Minahil to come back to the house. However, it does not seem like Minahil is ready to forgive Bilal anytime soon! She has completely lost her trust in him and she finally makes the decision to go abroad to her brother’s house. Bilal seemed very upset at her decision and tried to stop her but it was all in vain as she had already made up her mind. I do not know what to think of Bilal. On one hand, he says he loves Minahil a lot and on the other hand, he lied to her and broke her trust. He admitted his mistake and apologized too but sometimes apology is just not enough! Let’s see if Minahil will come back or if she decides to end their relationship altogether?

Not much happened with Irfa and Shayan in this episode. There has been no contact between them after he came to give Irfa money. He has been having the same arguments with Maleeha over and over again. Maleeha is demanding only one thing from Shayan and that is to leave Irfa but Shayan still refuses to leave her. Adeel Farooqui once again tried to explain her to keep calm and not pressurize Shayan at his point because there is nothing left between Irfa and Shayan and he will leave her eventually. But Maleeha decided to take things in her own hands and ended up on Irfa’s doorstep. She had the guts to offer money to Irfa to leave Shayan! Irfa kept calm throughout her so called ‘deal’ and clearly refused to take money and gave Maleeha a fair piece of her mind. One dialogue spoken by Irfa got embedded in my mind:

“Shayan Ko Khush Karna Aasaan Hai Per Usse Khush Rakhna Bohat Muskil”

Who else would know how hard it is to keep Shayan happy other than Irfa? She had tried her best but failed. It will surely be a daunting task for Maleeha who neither has Irfa’s patience or love in her to deal with a person like Shayan. The scene where she got angry at Shayan because he spoke to some female fans said it all. Shayan is the kind of person who likes and craves attention and Maleeha cannot stand him even talking to some other woman. Her possessive nature would prove to be fatal for their relationship. It seems like Shayan will surely get fed up of her soon.

Bilal had helped Irfa in a very bad time and it was now Irfa’s turn to return the favor. She tried her best to take care of Bilal during Minahil’s absence. She also tried her best to morally support him through the tough time and he appreciates her for this.

What made my heart break is that Shayan even forgot about his daughter! He remembered her when a stranger came to him to ask for donation for kids and he then called Irfa to ask about Rahima. Irfa just could not control her anger when he called her as he knew Rahima needed money for her treatment and he did not send money as he was busy with Maleeha’s birthday. She gave him a good tongue lashing and told him that she had to sell her jewelry for Rahima’s treatment and if Rahima was not there then she would have left him a long time back! This was the first time Shayan actually got scared by Irfa’s outburst. I hope this drives some sense into Shayan and he would at least remember that his daughter is sick and Irfa needs his support at this stage.

I have simply no clue what will happen next! This show is so unpredictable and it really needs to move on already. They are dragging it way too much for my liking. Will Minahil leave Bilal? Will Shayan leave Irfa? Tune in to the show next week to find out!

Celebrities Supporting Imran Khan for his Political career!

0

Elections 2013 are over, declaring PML-N to be the largest party in the country but it seems like Imran Craze is still felt within the air. The former Cricketer and now famous for his political intelligence, Imran Khan earned the second rank for his Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Throughout the last two years, it was noticed that Khan was becoming significantly popular among the youth and finally he made it yesterday. With his slogan of “Naya Pakistan”, there were many celebrities along with the youth who joined hands in hands to show their support towards the idea.

Here are few of the popular faces who openly showed their support towards Imran Khan!

Pakistani Bowler Umar Gul had a Knee Surgery!

0

Just like other fields of Pakistan, it has been seen that our cricket has also revived from what it was 10 years back and the credit goes to few cricketers who have invested a great deal of hard work and consistency to earn respect for Pakistan cricket team. Out of so many bowlers of who came and went in cricket, Umar Gul is surely one of the most successful ones who have won the hearts of many cricket fans, not only within Pakistan but elsewhere as well.

However, things haven’t been in favor of the sportsman lately and complained of pain and swelling in his right knee while touring South Africa with the team early this year and was forced to miss a Test and three ODIs due to his problem.

263037_683554561670606_1459921009_n

An official source in the Pakistan Cricket Board said that Dr David Young, a well-known orthopaedic surgeon who has a lot of experience in treating sportsmen, had performed the surgery.

the source said:

“Gul is well and in high spirits but he has been told he can only began light exercises after two weeks and it could take him four to six weeks to make a complete recovery,”

Gul, 29, who is Pakistan’s most experienced bowler in the current team having taken 163 Test and 161 One-day wickets, was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to his knee problem.. He is now feeling much better after getting operated in Australia.

We pray for his quick Recovery,

Adhoori Aurat Episode 4 – A Perfect Episode!

0

Now this was a perfect episode in my view! I have been waiting for such an entertaining episode since the show went on air and this episode finally managed to fulfill all my expectations. I saw the perfect chemistry between Ayeza Khan and Faisal Qureshi which was missing in the previous episodes. The main focus on the episode was on Zayaan and Maryam and how Zayaan managed to convince Maryam to marry him.

At first, Maryam was not at all in the favor of the marriage as she had not gotten over Umair’s betrayal and she was not ready to trust any one yet. But Zayaan was adamant to know the reason behind her refusal and he ended up going to her house to talk to her. Maryam was reluctant to talk to him and clearly showed how unwelcome he was in her house. She was rude and cold towards him but this did not stop him from asking her the reason for her abrupt refusal and she finally gave him the reason that she cannot trust men anymore. Zayaan understood that there was someone in the past who broke her trust and now she is unable to trust anyone else. Zayaan tried to make her realize that all men are not the same but she was not ready to hear anything.

Maryam’s mother was extremely upset about Maryam’s behavior and her refusal for such a good proposal. Both her parents could not understand why she refused to marry Zayaan when there seems to be no problem with him. He is a well reputed person and they do not need his character certificate as he is known far and wide in the city. Maryam has hurt her parents a lot and it is high time that she forgets Umair’s betrayal and moves on in life!

On one hand, Maryam is not ready to marry him at any cost and on the other hand, Zayaan’s mother is emotionally blackmailing him that she would leave the house if he does not agree to marry Faiza. He finally says yes to Faiza’s proposal after coming under pressure from his mother. Afsha and his mother quickly took his proposal to Faiza’s house and they ended up fixing the marriage dates then and there. However, Zayaan did not seem the least bit happy about marrying Faiza because she is not the ideal life partner in his eyes. According to him his ideal partner would be a girl who is self confident and sure about herself. She should not have any kind of inferiority complex and should also know how to stand up for herself. These are the qualities which he liked and saw in Maryam and this is the reason why he took his proposal for her in the first place.

Zayaan’s determination to make Maryam agree to the marriage was seen when he told Maryam’s friend Ayesha to bring her to a restaurant without letting her know that he would also be there. Maryam got angry and upset by his behavior but he calmly tried to convince her to give him a chance. He promised to keep her happy and he also told her that he was being so stubborn because he liked her a lot and she is the only girl who meets the standard he had set for a perfect life partner. This meeting managed to change her opinion about him and she could not help but compare him to Umair and realize how different they both are.

fff

Maryam got fully convinced when Zayaan sent her flowers and called her later to tell her that he knew she was upset after seeing Umair and he just wanted her mood to get better. Maryam found the gesture very heartwarming and she spoke to Zayaan properly for the first time and finally gave her approval for the marriage. The phone conversion was no doubt the best scene of the episode! One thing that I found ironical was when Faiza sent Zayaan flowers; he told her that he does not like such gestures and practically threw the flowers away! And now he himself sent flowers to Maryam! Funny isn’t it?

Fazia seems clearly obsessed with Zayaan and she never minds even when Zayaan is extremely rude to her. I wonder what her reaction will be when he will come barging in the house with Maryam as his wife? I am eager to watch the next episode now! What will be Zayaans’ family’s reaction to his sudden marriage to Maryam? Do not miss the next episode to find out!

Elections 2013- an event again misjudged!

0

blastA nation of donkeys can survive better than a nation that we know as “Pakistan” and if you don’t agree with it, all you need to do is to watch your television screens now. The general elections of Pakistan are nothing but an event of brutally killing the silly people who think they are accountable for this country. I am not a political analyst, I am an ordinary person like you and probably that is a reason I am unable to conclude where this country is heading towards. All I can see is the fact that despite of having all the armed forces around, despite of all the security threats that all of us were aware of, there has had been more than 7 blasts within the country in just last 5 hours.

With the dial showing 8am, almost every news channel started to telecast about the lack of management, staff and material that was a must-to-have ingredient at every polling station and it was only after few minutes later that there were chain explosions all over in Pakistan-except Punjab.

It seems like an Indian movie as the current situation is seriously something which has never been seen in reality. It was expected to achieve a high turnover this time but now that the situation is getting worst every second, there are all chances that the entire idea of general elections would soon come to an end, leaving us with nothing but a high death-toll to cry on.

One question that always clicks me is that how would the political parties provide us security when they are unable to safeguard their own members? How would they stop the kidnap-for-ransom of ordinary people when they cannot protect their own children? I mean come on, what kind of a change are we expecting from our politicians? It is so interesting to see that the candidates, who are targeted by the “so-called” terrorists, manage to stay safe while people around them lose their lives.  What makes me speechless further is the reality that if Pakistan is a victim of terrorism, why is this terrorism only limited to three of the provinces only? Now my silly, stupid brain can find two possibilities for this, either these provinces are way too lenient towards the security measures, or the terrorists in Punjab are happy with the provincial government.

How do you take such an election where you see about 10 blasts in the first half, causing a loss of more than 20 lives and hundreds of injuries?  How can you expect to have a change in a nation whose armed-forces, including its Army is a complete failure? While the manifestos of different political parties still echo hard in the surroundings, there are no hopes within. As per reports, there are some districts where women are not even allowed to cast their vote and we talk about having a democracy!

11-5-2013-PAK-gh7-O

This is a strange country and strange indeed. Here, the president stays silent and out of scene on such a sensitive day and the duty of the Chief Justice and the Chief of Army staff is to cast their vote only. For God Sake I mean, till how long they would keep fooling us and for till when are we going to get kill this way? These are the unanswered questions that are common in majority of the people.

According to the updates, Jamaat-e-Islami, Sunni Itehad Council, Jamhoori Watan party and MQM have boycotted the elections making the election-rigging its reason. The Youth’s Favorite Imran Khan too has shown his dissatisfaction towards the elections and will be conducting a press conference to condemn how elections 2013 have turned out to be. There are no doubts that this day has provided good TRPs to news channels, interesting topics to the upcoming talk shows, and the loss of many lives that have affected hundreds of families.

This country, I regret to state, has got no true leader who can ensure a peaceful life to its people, I have got no clue what these elections will turn into, but the failure of providing security by Army as well, has taken away the hopes that were once associated with Martial-law been imposed!

May the souls of people who left us today, rest in peace,

Zindagi Gulzar Hai Episode 24 – Calm Before The Storm

Let me start by confessing that the excitement with which I look forward to the next episode of Zindagi Gulzar Hai every week was completely missing during this week. Honestly speaking I was not exactly looking forward to being disappointed more. The last two episodes of Zindagi Gulzar Hai did not work for me, although there were bits that I enjoyed but they were not the kind of episodes that would make you look forward to more.

Zaroon and Kashaf finally talked about some of the most important things in their lives today. Kashaf makes Zaroon understand that even if two people are married, they still need some breathing space and trusting each other was such an important part of any relationship. Zaroon and Kashaf both were much more mature about everything today which was a relief and the communication between the two was much better than it had been in the previous few episodes. Kashaf may have married Zaroon but she has not completely made him a part of “her” world. The reason for this obviously is that she does not want to be “rait ki dewar” because she is too scared of being led down. I was expecting Zaroon to start another fight over the loan issue but that did not happen – another thing to be thankful for. Kashaf also did not react immediately when she found out that Zaroon had been reading her mail and later on when they talked about the issue, they resolved it like grown ups.

kashaf letter zaroon 1

Zaroon shares how he felt about not having a mother by his side when he was young with Kashaf in detail and Kashaf briefly tells him about how difficult it was for her to trust men because of the kind of life she has lived. Kashaf may not write it in her diary or say it out loud but it was very apparent from her behavior that she still isn’t sure if Zaroon will value daughters just as much as a son. Honestly speaking, the last scene did not exactly leave me with anticipation to find out what would happen next because I am quite sure that Zaroon will have absolutely no problem with having two daughters. He will probably have something nice to say about having two daughters.

rafia kashaf

Ghazala had a complete change of heart today and she pleaded guilty! Kashaf has proved to be a role model for her which goes to show that she isn’t such a bad person after all…at least not even half as bad as Murtaza – the real culprit who seems to have gotten away with everything. Rafia’s reaction when she sees the roses in the living room was actually very cute. She asks Kashaf who bought the flowers and when she tells her that Zaroon brought them, she inquires “kis liye”!! I really felt for her at that point, obviously when you are married to someone like Murtaza such things do strike as odd!

murtaza rafia

So, Murtaza apologized in the previous episode, handed Hammad over to Rafia and we thought everything was sorted between them but it came as a surprise that Murtaza is not going to help Rafia out with her problems. So, it is still a one way road; Rafia is going to go out of her way and help Murtaza out with his problems but she should not expect Murtaza to do the same for her. It was good however to see Kashaf and Sidrah helping their mother out without even informing her – all parents should have children like that.

asmarazaroon

How many married men and women out there could relate to the line, “Yeh jo tum poochnay se pehle poochti hun na us se mujhe bara dur lagta hai”?  Apparently, Zaroon will only have coffee dates with Asmara only if he does not have prior commitments with Kashaf and the two are not on good terms with each other.  The preview for the next episode suggests that Zaroon’s ties with Asmara will cause a major rift between Zaroon and Kashaf. I hope that the entire issue is handled nicely and Zaroon finally realizes that in most cases the same rules apply to husband and wife both. I have to say that this episode covered a lot of things but it did seem like too little, too late. The preview for the next episode, however seems very enticing indeed, let’s hope that it delivers. Today’s episode can best be described as the calm before the storm. Please share your views about this recent episode.

General Elections 2013 are just few hours away from us and the air around seems to have different shades where half of the nation is enthusiastic about using its right and tune the future. However, according to the latest survey that was been conducted by a local news channel, out of 8.5 Million people who are eligible to cast their vote, there are only 2 Million of them who know where their respective polling station is. This leads to an approximation that there is only 23.5 % of the total population who will cast a vote tomorrow as per the latest stats revealed.

BALLOT-BOX-copy-450x238

There are no second thoughts about the risks and dangers that are expected for the big day which is one of the biggest contributing factors in making people sit at their homes and not going out to pay their responsibility. While we see the leaders continuously asking their followers to go out on May 11th and cast their vote, majority of the people are still confused about the thought. Moreover, there is a group of people who thinks that casting a vote is pretty useless because more or less, all the candidates and their hidden policies are same and not in favor of the local people of Pakistan.

What I have today to share with you all is a small message, a small motivation and a small proof. People are talking about the chances of rigging in elections, about the terrorist activities that are the biggest barriers, but what many of them don’t know is the fact that things are pretty different this time.

My mother is a 19th grade Government Officer and she has been given the charge of one of the most risky sectors of Karachi, that is, Orangi Town. Having a person that close in a family makes you much informed; I know that this time things are far much better with high security and well-managed system. This is to make you all remember that your government employees are doing their best to make it possible, they have families too and the risks are equal for them too but when it comes to accountability, we can see people who are up for it. Being the Presiding officer (PO), my mum, with all other presiding officers and their teams have reached their polling stations and will be there for two days, i.e. 10th, 11th and would go back to their homes not before 12th ‘s morning. They have initiated their part, now it’s our turn to feel accountable and take steps towards the betterment of the nation.

images (1)

We all are also aware that there are influences, strong indeed but keep that in mind that there will be no one who will be watching you while you will cast your vote. Cast your vote to anyone, whosoever, but please make a right decision because by the end of the day, you will have to answer Allah Almighty for your decision.

I Leave you with a thought to consider that if we wouldn’t come out now for our rights and welfare, there are no more tomorrows for the people of Pakistan then!

Cast Your Vote,

 Stay Safe,

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 15 – Betrayal and Lies!

0

We got a pretty shocking revelation in this episode! I never expected a person like Dr. Bilal to be so selfish. He seemed like a caring, loving and thoughtful person but we saw his selfish side in this episode. He had hurt Minahil so much with his lie as he kept on telling her that she was the one who could not become a mother when in reality, it was just the opposite. Minahil was in a state of disbelief when her brother informed her about her reports being clear but she was not convinced till she saw them with her own eyes. This is when she realized that Bilal had been playing with her feelings for so many years and had betrayed her in the most cruelest manner. Trust is a very important in any relationship and Bilal broke the one thing Minahil valued the most! Upon getting to know the truth, she took the decision of leaving Bilal and left the house.

Shayan is not ready to leave Irfa at this stage and he and Maleeha have a fight over this issue yet again! Maleeha got angry when she got to know that Shayan stopped Irfa from leaving the house. She wants Irfa out of Shayan’s life at all cost! Shayan still has some humanity left in him as he feels he has a responsibility towards Irfa and his kid, though he is rarely there for them when they need him. At least he has the decency to realise that Irfa has no one in the world except him and she needs his support. Also it will never be acceptable to his ego if Irfa leaves him but it will be completely fine with him if it is the other way round.

Adeel Farooqui was seen giving relationship advice to Maleeha yet again. I may dislike him but I can’t help but agree with what he says. He knows just how to handle and react to any kind of situation. Since he is so good at relationship advice, I wonder why his own marriages did not work? I guess his advice would only be applicable to other people!

We saw Bilal getting irritated and annoyed by Irfa for the first time in this episode. After Minahil and his confrontation about the his lie, he was emotionally disturbed and Irfa came at the wrong time and he vented his frustration on her. I would not blame Irfa for going to him again and again asking for help. She does not have anybody else to go to and when Rahima got sick, she quickly took her to Dr. Bilal who refused to help her.
One scene that I loved was Irfa and Nasir’s conversation in the car. Irfa always ends up finding one person or the other when she is in need of dire help. This time Nasir came when she was in need. It seems like nobody is happy with the way their life has turned out. Mahjabeen is still pinning for Shayan and refusing to acknowledge Nasir’s selfless love for her while Irfa can only dream to get Shayan’s love for whom she holds more or less no importance. She realises how lucky Mahjabeen is to have someone like Nasir in her life and she also tells Nasir to convey her message to Mahjabeen.
It seems like something is cooking in Maleeha’s head and she will get Irfa out of Shayan’s life Soon. Irfa’s heart broke when she saw Maleeha announcing on television that Shayan will leave his first wife very soon. Shayan gets irritated by Maleeha’s sudden announcement and goes to Irfa who thinks he has come to announce that he is leaving her. That was not his intention but for how long? It will be just a matter of time before he leaves her.
Okay, so i have had enough of Maleeha’s continuous complaining, Shayan’s careless attitude and Irfa’s constant crying! The story really needs to move on now. So what happens next? Will Shayan leave Irfa for good? What do you guys think? I hope the story picks up some pace in the next episode!

Mirat-ul-Uroos Episode 26 – Review

I was hoping that Hashim, Ayza or Akbari will have a change of heart in this episode or will in some way start thinking on different lines but none of that happened. All of them seem to be happy with the way they are and are doing quite well also! Ayza still gets to have things her way, no matter what. Hashim also fails to take a stand and continues blaming his parents rather than valuing them. Today’s episode’s main focus was Fahad’s birthday and Faraan’s engagement. It was another relatable episode that was very well executed too but I am getting tired of the same message being repeated over and over again.

Fahad’s lavish birthday party and the way Ayza treats her In Laws during the ceremony creates more cracks in the relationship between the two families. It was very evident that Ayza did not want to invite Hammad’s family to the function to begin with because she was very sure that they won’t be happy to see the celebrations. Well, I have to say that her assessment was very right. Hammad’s parents are shocked to see his lifestyle and could not help but wonder that why their son did not have more money to spare for them – a very valid question I would say. Ayza is a true replica of Akbari in every way – selfish and stubborn, what a bad combination.

I really enjoyed Faraan and Akbari’s conversations today despite of the fact that there were times when I felt that Faraan was being a little too blunt. We found out more about Akbari’s past life in today’s episode. She seems to have lived a very comfortable life despite of her selfish behavior and that is exactly the reason why she still wants her own way no matter what the circumstances.

Aima’s attitude towards Ayza was spot on today. She gave Ayza a piece of her mind and there wasn’t much that she could stay in return. Ayza’s father also puts his foot down and asks her to change her attitude towards her in laws. I am glad that he did that but the promo for the next episode suggests that there is absolutely no change in Ayza’s behavior at all. Ayza accuses Aima of ulterior motives, which was nothing new really because she has been saying all this for quite some time now.

Aima finally talks to Faraan about Hamnah and I am very sure now that these two will end up getting married. That is something I want to see happening. The promo of the next episode suggests that Nawaz breaks off the engagement himself – good riddance I would say! But I also got the feeling that Akbari will hold Faraan or his parents responsible for the broken engagement. I have started wondering now that how many more episodes to go because Ayza and Hashim show no signs of changing and the drama cannot possibly end until they do. I have to say that the fazool kharchi factor, although very relatable but has been done to death now and I want to hear and watch something new.

Silvatein Episode 14 – One thing leads to another!

0

I absolutely enjoyed the episode thoroughly. It was like a complete package which made me giggle at times too. I must say the writer has done a wonderful job in conceiving these characters & has beautifully executed the misapprehensions, confusions & happiness that each one of them goes through. This episode was based more on the aftermath consequences in regards to something that stirred in the previous episode. I loved how each one of them reacted differently to something that does not even exist or has started to mean something to Rayaan only.

Of all the scenes I just loved Rayaan’s & Zeb’s the most. Their chemistry, their timing was perfect & at one point I felt they make a great on-screen couple. I loved their kitchen scene where Zeb shed off her frustration on him & he kept calm because he knew she has been in such an awkward position ever since she came to US, so now it was the time when she had to let go off all the negativity that she has absorbed in these past few days. Rayaan stood their like an obedient mate who is ready to take anything that comes at him. His little gesture to make peace with Zeb was too sweet & I must say that Adeel Hussain & Amina Sheikh nailed that scene where she is trying to get rid of him but he is actually longing to spend sometime with her. Those minute expressions, those glances & those dialogues were perfect to the perfection.

I feel bad that the character of Natasha lacks even an ounce of positivity. I guess that was the plan that we shouldn’t see anything good in her, but we’re through more than half of the serial & all we have seen about her is how shallow she is. I guess the writer is saving something better for the last but I still doubt that even after such a detailed & long exposure to her negativity we’d be convinced somehow that she still has something good in her.

I hate to see Bilal being treated as a doormat. I know he is a kind-hearted, too-much-in-love kind of a husband, who – being youngest was treated in such a manner all his life that he didn’t need to stand up for anything because his family members held him closer to their hearts, understood him & vice versa. But Natasha is pushing all the wrong buttons & is mean to the core. When she ‘thought’ Bilal talked her parents out of Zeb-Rayaan wedding, she treated him with the respect just for a few seconds that he deserved through out, but later when she found out that things didn’t go the way she had wanted, she stooped to such a level & crossed all the limits that any husband would tolerate. I actually feel sorry for Bilal but I think he should sternly make Natasha understand what her position is & what’s his. Natasha blames Zeb for being materialistic but in reality she is the one who’s filled with materialism & for that particular reason she can not extend any such respect to her husband because he is not at a financial state where she had expected her husband to be.

The funniest scene was of Zeb’s parents. Their excitement, their visit to Rayaan’s mother’s & their awkwardness. It was all so sweet & realistic because any parents would want their daughter to get married to such a decent guy like Rayaan. I’m glad that everyone in the family especially Munize has understood the difference between Natasha & Zeb. Now everyone knows what Natasha is capable of & she is going to be in some deep trouble. Whereas, Rayaan, who hated Zeb like anything has started to find her opposite to what he had presumed about her. All the family members are getting the chance to get to know Zeb up-close & in person where Natasha is not their to cloud their opinions. Hence, Zeb will eventually make a place of her in every ones heart.

I loved the episode & special mention would be about the dialogues which are written with attention & perfection. I must say – hats off to the writer for handling such a story induced with so many small & rapid confusions & yet every time coming out of them so smoothly.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Few Reasons Why I Won’t Be Voting For PPP

0

Yes it is strictly everyone’s personal matter who we decide to vote for but we also have to bear in mind that our votes will collectively decide the fate of the entire nation. For this very reason it is very important that we make informed decisions and vote for the party who we think will be able to fulfill its promises and take our country out of this difficult situation. I am not going to mention here where my loyalties lie but one thing I know for sure is that I am not going to be voting in favor of the Pakistan People’s Party and I have some very solid reasons to support my case which I am going to share with you. Please feel free to share your thoughts. The reasons are as follows:

Pakistan People’s Party did nothing for the country or even the democratic process during its five years in tenure. Five years is a long enough time for a party to prove itself but PPP did nothing to make the life of the common man easy. Forget about the common man, even people who are affluent found it extremely difficult to cope with the energy crisis. Businesses suffered badly but despite of all this the PPP chairman still claims that PPP worked very hard to keep the economy stable in the most trying of times…a claim that makes me laugh!
Pakistan has parliamentary system, which means that the Prime Minister is the head of the government and is the main executive authority in the state but the changes that were made by Musharraf turned the Prime Minister into a puppet and the President exercised the executive powers. The PPP government did not amend the clause and the president continued enjoying the powers which are not rightfully his in a parliamentary system. The entire tenure of the PPP government was based on one man show. The five years of PP’s tenure were nothing short of torture in every sense of the word. There was insecurity, injustice and price hike beyond limits.

What is a party without a leader? Yes, this is a very strange but true fact that PPP lacks proper leadership. The party that was once known for its charismatic leadership seems to be lacking a proper leader who can communicate with the masses or represent the party properly. All those leaders who were very close to Benazir Bhutto were relegated to the background soon after her death and although Benazir’s son Bilawal “Bhutto” Zardari was made the chairman of the party but the fact is that he is only 20 years old, has absolutely no experience regarding politics and is merely being used as a pawn. What is worse is that it is common knowledge now that Bilawal and Zardari have been having disagreements and that is the exact reason why Bilawal did not even mention his own father when he addressed the nation and is not even going to be here in the country when the elections take place. Zardari has failed to rise as a true leader and others are probably not allowed to take a lead, which suggests that there are bifurcations within the party and for this very reason I don’t have high expectations from PPP.

zardariI don’t agree with the “Kabar ki siasat” theme of PPP’s election campaign. I am not going to talk ill of the dead; yes Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s charisma was unmatched and Benazir followed in her father’s footsteps and both of them were murdered in cold blood but ENOUGH ALREADY. For how long is PPP going to rely on the “shuhda” and keep on expecting people to give them sympathy vote. Why don’t they have any new leaders to show for? Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto will always be remembered in history as great political leaders but how can the PPP keep on asking people to vote for them when they are no longer alive and how can the voter say that they will vote for Bhutto when Bhutto is no longer alive. Can we please bury the dead and let them be at peace. The fact that PPP has to rely on kabar ki siasat goes to show that they have nothing else to their credit, which is very sad!

PPP’s slogan does not appeal to me at all because they did not do even half of what they promised in five years of their tenure. I agree, no political party has ever come up to the expectations of the people or has kept all the promises that it made during the elections, it is not humanely possible because there are external factors involved which may be out of anyone’s control but PPP has made a mockery out of its own slogan by going against everything they promised. Roti Kapra aur Makaan…anyone out there who got these three easily while PPP was in power? Maybe they should replace it with bijli, paani aur gas. Ilm, sehat, sab ko aam…this reminds me of all the doctors’ strikes and the government’s failure to resolve the issue. Dehshat se mahfooz awam…I cannot even count the bomb blasts that I have personally heard during the PPP tenure. The government’s inability to deal with the situation was nothing hidden. The mobile phones signals disappearing for days was the only solution the government could come up with. Ooncha ho jamhor ka naam…there is no democracy within the party itself so expecting them to promote democracy on the national level would be expecting too much.

I am sorry if I offended anyone with my arguments but consider this article more of venting out than anything else, you should feel free to do the same.

Saud.

Let’s Talk About Politics

0

The elections are just around the corner and this time around it seems that the political parties have put in more effort on their elction campaigns than other years. The reasons for this are many; PML (N) has not been in power for quite a long time and they will put in any amount of effort to get as many electorates on their side as is possible, PTI stands tall as a dominant political party which goes to prove that they have done their homework well and want to get substantial seats in the upcoming elections or maybe bag themselves an eminent position in the central government. PPP is one of the very few governments in the past few years which managed to stay in power for the entire tenure and would not like to be defeated in these elections too. MQM maintains its position as a party that only gets votes from few regions alone and manages to form coalition governemtns every now and then. The real competition for the central government seems to be between PML (N) and PTI more than any other party. There are of course parties like Awami National Party (ANP); which is only popular in the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province. The PTI seems to have worked hard in order to win the hearts of people in that particular province and may prove to be a threat to the ANP and Jamaat-e-Ulema Islami-Fazl ((JUI-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), which have always been neck to neck in the same region.

Sadly, the politics in Pakistan has usually been personality dominated. Most often people vote for personalities rather than what the parties stand for. Very often the electorate is not even well acquainted with what the party promises to do if it wins the elections but they vote for candidates solely because their loyalties have been with Nawaz Sharif or the Bhuttos for years. This time around Imran Khan is making his presence felt too and his charismatic appeal will also be the reason because of which many people may vote for him. Very often people give sympathy votes as well, people may vote for a party because it was ousted out of power in their last tenure or the leaders were exiled, people feel the party has been victimized and vote for them out of sympathy. A major part of the political campaigns of the parties are based on accusations which are followed by cross accusations and politics in turn becomes a very dirty game. The Election Commission of Pakistan requested the parties to avoid such accusations this year but that did not change much.

Lets take a look at what the leading parties have to offer; what is it that they have promised to do if they come in to power. Unfortunately our political history is full of many broken promises but nevertheless I think people have the right to know the manifestos of these political parties so that they can make a more informed decision.

Let’s start with Pakistan Muslim League (N); the slogan of PML (N) is “Hum Badlein Gay Pakistan” – Strong Economy – Strong Pakistan. The above statement is self explanatory; PML (N) intends to concentrate on economic development once it comes into power and will focus on agricultural as well as the industrial sector. This in turn would lead to a more economically viable Pakistan which PML (N) promises in the future. Anyone who is interested in reading the manifesto in detail can do so by clicking on this link

http://www.pmln.org/pmln-manifesto-english/

PML N

Pakistan Tehreek -e- Insaf stands for “Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem”, as the name of the part indicates justice is most important to this party and it believes in providing everyone with equal opportunities. PTI is a party which boasts of democratic foundations and promises to bring justice to the common man and give the common man his self esteem back. It vows to put an end to corruption and establish a new system that is transparent. PTI promises a “naya Pakistan built on Iqbal’s dream and Jinnah’s vision”. If you want to, you can read the detailed manifesto of PTI by clicking on this link

http://www.insaf.pk/AboutUs/Manifesto/tabid/138/Default.aspx

PTI

Pakistan People’s Party maintains the same slogan which it has carried for many years; a promise of the main provisions of livelihood for one and all “roti, kapra aur makaan”. Quite intestingly while all the other parties have quote Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal in the beginning o their manifestos, PPP has quoted Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in theirs. PPP vows to protect the people of Pakistan from external and internal Terrorism, promises accountability and has explained in detail what its policies are going to be regarding different provinces and Pakistan’s ties with other countries. Here is a link where you can read the manifesto in detail

http://www.ppp.org.pk/pppchange/manifestos/manifesto2013.pdf

PPP

Tell me honestly, how many of you actually read these manifestos before deciding which party you are going to vote for and if you haven’t gone through what a particular party promises to do once it comes in to power, how did you decide who you are going to vote for?

Dil-e-Muzter Episode 11 Review – Annoying Zoya!

0

A completely shocking episode! Zoya has managed to create havoc in Silah’s life! Silah has started to get irritated by Zoya’s constant interference in their life and she feels insecure with the new form bond between Adeel and Zoya. Adeel has a very high opinion of Zoya now and he keeps on taking her side whenever Silah complains about her interference in their life. Adeel has still not stopped taunting Silah about her job and her inability to fulfill all her duties as a wife and mother. Adeel thinks Zoya is doing them a huge favor by taking care of Affan and the house. Little does he know that Silah is fully compensating Zoyafor her ‘help’!

Zoya leaves no chance to fill Adeel’s ears against Silah and Adeel being unaware of Zoya’s real intentions believes everything that she says. Zoya’s ulterior motive behind all her help is pretty evident now. She is clearly interested in Adeel and leaves no chance to spend some alone time with him. The scene where Zoya and Adeel are talking and Zoya tells him that she is stubborn since childhood and always gets what she wants clearly had a double meaning. Her eyes are now on Adeel and she is playing her games to create misunderstandings between the Silah and Adeel. Honestly, she is getting on my nerves now!

I am surprised to see that Silah is still acting so patient with Zoya. She is clearly annoyed and angry at Zoya but is still trying her best to ignore her nosy behavior. She clearly did not like Zoya making changes to her house and when she tried to tell Zoya about the inconvenience she caused, Zoya emotionally blackmailed her and Silah dropped the topic. She was also not comfortable with Zoya making food for Adeel and for both of them to spend so much time together. It is funny how at first Zoya refused to take money from Silah and now she herself asked Silah for such a huge amount and the surprising part is that Silah does not even ask her why she needs it. She just gets the money and gives it to Zoya. And the irony of the situation is that Silah gets taunted by Adeel for spending money so carelessly and she could not even tell him that she was giving the money to Zoya as Zoya has told her not to as she wants to maintain her good impression on Adeel.

The worst scene of the episode was when Zoya came to Silah’s house with sweets and congratulated her and Silah had no clue what she was talking about. Zoya then made a surprised face and announced the good news about Adeel getting a job and Silah was totally heartbroken to hear this news from an outsider. Zoya was the first person Adeel gave this news to and this hurt Silah as she had expected him to tell her first. Her eyes spoke volumes in this scene. She was angry, upset, disappointed and on the verge of crying all at the same time. Sanam Jung was brilliant in this scene. Silah did not complain but simply asked Adeel why he had not told her about this news himself and Adeel again replied in a taunting manner. Adeel apparently thought that she would be too busy in her office and he did not want to disturb her! What is wrong with this guy? He leaves no chance to taunt Silah about her job.

What shocked me the most was the way Zoya had started to treat Affan! The poor baby was left crying half the time and Zoya did not even bother to look after him. The scene where she tells her mother to give Affan cough syrup so that he sleeps was pathetic! I hope nothing happens to him!

The preview for the next episode seems very interesting. A lot of twists and turns are coming up ahead and I am really looking forward to them! Silah has finally gotten the sense to hire a maid for Affan instead of leaving him in Zoya’s care. It’s about time she made this decision! So who else is tired of seeing Zoya’s constant interference in Adeel and Silah’s life? Do share your views!

Keep watching the show!

Sanam Jung and Furqan Qureshi to pair in an upcoming Drama Serial!

After attracting a considerable audience from her serial Dil-e- Muzter, Sanam Jung is now all ready to keep her followers entertained with an upcoming drama serial featuring Sanam Jung and Furqan Qureshi. The OST has been sung by Atif  Aslam and has already created a hype on social networking sites. It is yet difficult to state much about the venture as  the production house hasn’t revealed anything about it. What can be seen in the OST is enough to deduce the story of the project which seems to revolve around two people who belong to two different mediums.

It would be interesting to see Furqan Qureshi as an actor, as it is, audience is talking about the fact that the two of them really makes a cute couple.

Here is an OST, enjoy,

Meesha Shafi to be seen in “The Reluctant Fundimentalist”!

From award-winning director Mira Nair and based on the acclaimed novel by Mohsin Hamid, comes the explosive new film, ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’, which will be hitting Pakistani cinemas on May 17, 2013.

In 2010, as student demonstrations rage in Lahore, a young Pakistani professor Changez Khan (Riz Ahmed) is interviewed by American journalist Bobby Lincoln (Liev Schreiber). Princeton-educated Changez tells Lincoln of his past as a brilliant business analyst on Wall Street. He talks of the glittering future that lies before him, his mentor, Jim Cross (Kiefer Sutherland) and the beautiful and sophisticated Erica (Kate Hudson), with whom he was set to share that future.

In the aftermath of 9/11, the alienation and suspicion he is suddenly met with leads him back to his homeland and the family to whom he is very close. Leading us through the culturally rich and beguiling worlds of New York, Lahore and Istanbul, ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ is an exploration of bias and the phenomenon of globalisation that is both brilliant and unsettling. HKC Entertainment is releasing the film in Pakistan and Encyclomedia PR will handle the PR.

“Dil Mera Dharkan Teri”-Revival of Pakistan’s Film Industry?

0

There was a time when Pakistan’s film industry seemed more like a joke where the actresses had everything to show except their acting skills, and the heroes were all limited to the roles of “Gujjar” and “Chaudhry”, yes, that was a misery, but thankfully, things have changed in the last 10 years. Today, as most of the audience sees it, the nation is coming up with polished products that are appreciated not only within the country but also abroad.

I did share a news about Tarang’s house full upcoming telefilm “Dil mera Dharkan teri” that  went on air  on May 3rd and surprisingly, the telefilm was far much better than my expectations and the feeling compelled me to jot down a few points to share with you all.

Note:For those who missed the show, here is a link from where you can see the remake of old Pakistani film “Dil Mera Dharkan teri” starring Ahsan Khan, Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani.

http://www.dramasonline.com/tarang-telefilm-dil-mera-dhadkan-teri-on-geo-tv-3rd-may-2013/

Been directed by Mehreen Jabbar, the telefilm had everything to make it stand somewhere with Indian levels if we talk about good acting, pleasant graphics, effective editing and well-done costumes. By comparing the project with a good Indian entertainment venture, all I mean to say is that our entertainment industry has now reached to a point where our “once-loved” Indian movies stand nowhere in the race.

The remake of “Dil mera dharkan teri” is a good effort in reviving the film industry where the actors have given their best to make it a hit.  I was amused to see Sarwat Gillani in the role of Saira and the fact that she  is truly a versatile actress if you compare her acting skills as ‘Zoya’ of Dil-e- Muzter with what she had brought on screen in the telefilm.

As stated, the telefilm had all the ingredients to make it a hit, to be specific enough, from its direction to it production, from Ahsan’s natural personification of the character to Sarwat’s outstanding performance and yes, one thing that needs applause here is the role and acting of Sanam Saeed as ‘Beenish’. I loved her in every next scene for the reason that she knows how to make audience hate her and love her simultaneously.

Your opinion might differ from mine about Sanam’s performance in the telefilm, but what is quite noticeable is the reality that she can fit in any role, any character;changing her accent, her looks, her expressions and what not which is obviously a stand-alone quality of a good actor.

The telefilm also had few songs that are done pretty well. In the song “Qubool Kerlo”,Sanam’s  appearance resembled to that of Deepika in the movie ‘Race 2’, which further add some spice as watching her that way is something viewer are looking for after watching her in the role of ‘Kashaf’ in ‘Zindagi Gulzar hai’ .

All in all, the two-hour telefilm was surely not a disappointment and in fact, such ideas have opened the new doors in the entertainment industry where audience looks forward for such projects. It is easy to conclude that after the controversial phase of promoting foreign content, Geo TV has played it safe to come up with the House Full series.

Humsafar – The drama & The novel

0

Starting from the times of Ptv,novels have always been adapted and dramatized for our tv audiences.None of these dramas has gained the immense popularity that Humsafar earned. Humsafar is based on a popular novel by novelist and now drama writer Farhat Ishtiaq. This drama has fans all over the world and many credit it with reviving the Pakistani Drama Industry.Having read the novel and seen the drama adaptation,I thought it would be interesting to share with you differences between the drama and the novel

1- Sara’s character

In the novel Sara was just a cousin of Asher who liked him and wanted to marry him,she was never shown to be his business partner or working with him.Although Naveen Waqar portrayed the character brilliantly, however, she could not match the physical description given in the novel i.e. being very fair skinned and beautiful yet finding no favour with Asher.

2- Khizar’s character

In the novel Khizar was just a pawn used for creating mistrust between the lead couple Asher-Khirad. He wanted to pursue studies abroad but didn’t have the money. He was sponsored by Fareeda aunty and Sara’s mother in return for his ‘favour’ to them. The novel never saw Khizar interested in Sara nor did he ever return once he moved abroad for studies

3- Age difference between Asher-Khirad

Asher of the actual story was atleast 7 years older than Khirad and because of the age difference he suspected Khizar-Khirad relationship as he mistook that she might have mental compatibility with someone of her age.Notwithstanding how much we love the lead couple of drama, their age difference did not appear much.

4- The apartment and the house

Once Asher gets to know that he’s a daughter who’s seriously ill and needs treatment,he moves his wife and daughter to an apartment not his own house.

5- America & Northern Areas

The novel was set somewhere around 2006 wherein Fareeda Aunty goes to Northern Areas for doing earthquake relief work from the platform of her NGO. In the drama, we see her leaving for USA.

6- Self-realization & Khizar spilling the beans

It was self-realization on Asher’s part that Khirad can never be unfaithful to her after which he comes home and finds the letter while in the drama Khizar tells Asher that it was a plot hatched by Fareeda aunty, sara and sara’s mother with his help.Later on,he does find the letter.

7-Forgiveness

After finding out the truth,Asher stoops down to Khirad’s feet and asks her for forgiveness. No such thing happened in the drama.

Apart from these,Hareem had a bigger role to play in the novel where she was quite fond of dressing up and having mehndi etc which was not shown in drama. If you find any other dissimilarities between the novel and drama do let us know.
