I took the half interview and I was feeling that I am looking so pretty but when the break happened and we were getting our t-shirts signed from Shahid, he asked, ‘whose picture is this on the shirt?’, I got too upset and all my excitement went away, I replied, ‘this is me’. Shaista Lodhi is the queen of morning shows. She became super famous after she transitioned to being a host on morning shows and she has since then grown a lot in life and in her career. Later on, she completely announced that she would never be returning to morning shows again and that it is the end of her hosting career. By the start of this year, she once again premiered to Geo and then everything went blank from her end. However, the confused lady is back again.

She said that “In start I carried on with showbiz for a certain life style as I had to send my children in school and things like that but I feel I have missed my golden time and the childhood cherishing moments of my children”.

She further said that “I was lost in glitz and glam of showbiz for a while  but it didn’t hold me for long then I balanced my self . I think there was a point in my life where  I distanced my self from fame. And also there was a thought in my mind that morning show platforms were used wrongly. It could have been message-driven.”

She said “I think every morning show host must have thought about it. We could do much better as women are basis of society and society solely stands on them and it was a good medium that utilized wrongly.”

She emphasised on changing the heads and editorial control teams and said they should be administered by women because only then things could change as those male bosses  needs rating and she had to be abide by that rule. She said ” I could have done better by not compromising but I did.”

She said “I strove to do my sort of shows about simple life style and weddings which can be done simpler.  we did wrong and I admit it. We don’t dare to change content. I started to fear that this loud mode will be part of my life and I used to become louder and dominant. Now I am composed and calm person. I got peace that I was missing. Although it’s a financial loss but it is for sure a personal growth”.

To this question Shaista replied that, ” yes, It was difficult for me to raise my children as a single mother. I had to be strong in front of my kids, which I pretended to be but there was the time when I used to see the negative comments about me, I felt hurt. I felt this battle is way too big for me just because I was a public figure and was exposed to a direct backlash.

She said, ” My ex husband was a really good person he was a great father and a good human being. It isn’t always necessary that two wrong people opt for divorce sometimes both are right in their opinions and are good at their ends but divorce becomes impending.”

She also revealed that my ex husband has now passed away. He was a good person I respect him.

Disclosing about her new marriage she said, “my new husband is my first cousin , we grew up playing together. He was never married and I was the person who used to strive about his match making but Allah had other plans for us. He is too good with my kids. He is hands on support to my children because he knew my children and family. He accepted me with them, now they four have a grouping against me, they share a strong bond ”

She further added that, ” I sometimes think my husband Adnan is a big blessing and a gift from Allah on my hidden good deeds, about which I do not know .

Shaista Lodhi further said that Fahad Mustafa would not be knowing about it but vendors come to her and give her this advice, ‘what if we start selling injections with Fahad Mustafa’s name’. Fahad Mustafa also revealed that dermatologists come to him with the same idea.

Shaista Lodhi, the famous morning show host is about to make her debut in Pakistani Drama serial “Khwaab Nagar”, the drama is the joint production of Dr. Ali Kazmi and Fahad Mustafa and directed by Syed Atif Hussain. Previously Shaista was doing a morning show on Sitaray ki Subah on HUM Sitaray and presently doing a morning show on SEE TV. As Shaista is quite famous as a host, acting in a drama will give real boost to her career.

In a statement Shaista shared that she is doing a lead role in the drama and the drama will be on air somewhere in October/November 2016.

This will be Shahista’s first project onto the small screen- she will only take up more ventures if she receives good feedback from the one she has already signed.

Morning shows which started as something as fun and light to watch in the morning slowly became so annoying that you could not even swallow them without cringing. Our morning shows became a 2-hour parade of wedding gowns and makeup and saas-bahu drama every day. People have been cringing on them now too.

Well, Shaista Lodhi who began the culture of morning show Shaadis has announced that she is not doing those shows again and was finally able to speak what she really thought while she was hosting them. While talking to Images, she said:

“I started off the trend for weddings on shows, I’m the culprit but then it all went overboard. Even in a wedding-centric show, channels can abide by certain limits but that rarely happens. One of my very last shows was themed round how to get married in simplicity, within a small budget. It was a topic that I felt could be very helpful for viewers. But many times before, while enduring long wedding ceremonies on TV, I would wonder to myself what I was doing. I have hosted morning shows on veritably every major channel in Pakistan and, on every set, there is this pressure to win the ratings race. Often, as hosts, we end up negating our own personalities. We don’t want to wear heavily embellished clothes and slather on make-up early in the morning and shout and yell through a wedding ceremony. I’m a doctor and when I would sit next to a guest who would declare that depression could be cured by eating okra, I would cringe within. I would wonder if someday my medical license would be taken away because I was allowing unqualified people to speak out in my show.”

She further explained she had to do the shows because she was a single mother:

“Perhaps I’m able to say all this now because I’m no longer hosting a show. I got tired of it a long time ago but I couldn’t back out because I was a single mother at the time who had bills to pay. Now that I could leave the business, I immediately did so.”

So, Shaista Lodhi has retired from morning shows, Sanam Jung just left hers and Sanam Baloch is also out from the race leaving Nida Yasir to be the only veteran in the business. As PEMRA has directed channels to improve their content too, let’s see whether it happens or not as the change is coming at least in the hosts!

I find it very demeaning when a big artist is in front of you and you’re playing ridiculous games like ‘finish this apple in three bites.’ I do hope my treatment can give morning shows a better image because it has gone down recently with silly shenanigans. Shaista’s new show will run from 9am to 11am. While she hasn’t disclosed the TV channel on which it will be aired, she’s hinted that it’s “a channel I have already worked for”.
