Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has recorded a song for upcoming Bollywood film Maatr-The Mother, starring Raveena Tondon. According to the producer, the song was recorded before tensions between India and Pakistan which surfaced post Uri attack.

“Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had recorded the song Zindagi Ae Zindagi. It’s an emotional track mapping Raveena’s journey as a mother for the film. We have decided to retain the song as it was recorded before the India, Pakistan tension began,” producer Anjum Rizvi confirmed in a statement.

Maatr – The Mother director Ashtar Sayed, who finds Rahat’s voice mesmerising, said: “The film originally didn’t have any music, but when we started editing the movie, we felt the need for it. So we got some beautiful songs and lyrics for our film.”

“The music has been given by a Pakistani Sufi rock band Fuzön. They had composed one beautiful song, which is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.” he said.

After Uri attack, India imposed a ban on Pakistani artists. However, there was news that film-maker Mahesh Bhatt had approached Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali to sing for his upcoming play Milne Do, which will be staged in Delhi in June. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s nephew Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is going back to his roots and has decided to celebrate 2018 as the year of qawwali. According to a private news channel the renowned singer has planned 100 shows around the world.

The shows will be held in different countries such as United States, Canada, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Morocco, South Africa, Kenya, Nepal, Bangladesh, and of course, Pakistan.

According to Rahat the 100 concerts seek to pay a tribute to the lasting legacy of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

“I am basically a qawwal and the poetry of sufi saints runs in my veins. Qawwali is at the heart of our family traditions, and my ancestors have worked hard to develop this genre of music and introduce it to the world.”

He further added,

“Qawwali and I are inseparable. It runs in my blood. Whatever I am performing, qawwali is always at the heart of it. It gives me the unique edge in all the music that I do,”

Appreciating the contributions of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to the world of music, Khan said,

“The world of music has not seen a qawwal that is parallel to Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He glorified the art of qawwali and took the art of international audiences. He won many awards and accolades for his performances.”

Famous singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been injured in a traffic accident. The incident took place on Bedian Road, Lahore, his driver was driving the car. As per rescue team in Lahore, Rahat Fateh Ali had some injuries on back and face, after treatment in hospital he was allowed to go home however his driver had fractured his leg.

As per media reports, Rahat was going back from his farm house when his car collided with another car coming from opposite direction.

The President of council Ahmed Shah said, “Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the first artist from the world of music to get the award. Before him Zia Mohyeddin, Anwar Maqsood, Iftikhar Arif and Amar Jaleel had received it.” After that he read a citation: “the singer is the nephew of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and grandson of Ustad Fateh Ali Khan. He was three years old when he took his first lesson in music and only seven when he started to get training in classical music. He has come out up playback artist, and has performed all over the world. He is also the recipient of the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.” Mr. Rahat has dedicated this award to his family, friends in Pakistan.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also became emotional while singing for his daughter; however, a few people said that he looked unwell with the flu. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan arrived at the Hyderabad Airport yesterday because he had to perform on a new year eve function. The singer was not allowed access to the city and was deported because of “technical reasons”. India has special laws for nationals of Pakistan and Rahat Fateh Ali did not confirm with some of these laws. Pakistani nationals cannot enter India through Hyderabad, they can only do so through Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.

Talking to the media one of the officials said,

“If a Pakistani national enters through any other airport, except the four metros, his/her travel to India cannot be recorded. Hence it is mandatory that they stick to the four ports. This system has been put in place to monitor the movement of Pakistani nationals in and out of the country.”

The customs officials however said that the reason for his deportation were flaws in his travel documents.

Prince Charles has appointed Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan ambassador of the British Asian Trust at the trust’s fourth annual dinner at the Guildhall in London.

More than 450 ambassadors and supporters were present at the event while Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, who is the President of the trust, made the announcement. At the annual dinner, About £850,000 was raised to support the trust and it’s projects in South Asia.
