Jo Tu Chahay Episode 9 Story Review – 2 Scoops of Ice Cream

Opening Thoughts – Profound Message Gone Wrong:

Ohkay so, this episode of Jo Tu Chahay again focused more on the negativity and ill feelings that both Shama and Faseeha have towards each other. At one point I lost interest and didn’t really bother paying attention to some of the scenes. This drama surely has a very profound message but the fact that in order to dramatize it, they really have gone a bit too slow & have relied on such petty situations that it actually makes you question why you are even watching this as well as question the director that why did he even shoot these scenes & yes, also question the writer as to how could she even write such situations!

Don’t Be Like Mashal:

Mashal is beautiful, let’s keep this fact aside but what’s more there’s to her character to like or appreciate? I don’t see anything else apart from her perfectly shaped eyebrows, her big beautiful eyes, perfect lips and rosy complexion, yes, all of this definitely makes Mashal an eye-candy but her character is annoying as hell. Yes, I am using that strong word but this is what I see her as. Mashal baby hasn’t been able to get Arman’s proposal out of her mind, I mean a girl who speaks like a toddler and rolls her eyes like an infant demanding milk was ready to take on the married world, which is filled with a lot more hardships & obstacles she could even think of? Mashal was happy with the idea of marriage but did she even think for a second if she was mentally ready & mature enough to handle the lifelong commitment that a marriage is? Once again, her complaining & whining (though annoying) is still alright considering she has not been treated with love, care & attention by the people around her (supposedly) but to see her relating everything to her not getting married to Arman, the guy she didn’t even love with all her heart is making it very very hard to take her character seriously. Mashal is coming across as that desperate cousin who is obsessed with the idea of marriage to any tom, dick & harry. Mashal is like that cousin who just wants to get married for the sake of fancy clothes, bridal dresses, heavy jewelry, visits to parlors. Mashal is that girl who can’t even spell ‘marriage’ properly but wants it in her life. Don’t be like Mashal!!!

The fact that Mashal found herself ‘mariyal’ at the thought of not getting married & then found herself ‘zinda’ after eating 2 scoops of ice-cream speaks volumes about her & yes, like I said, it makes it very very hard for me to take her seriously. Mashal whines that no one loves her but then she has Appa Jee right next to her who doesn’t speak without addressing her as ‘meri jaan’, still this dimwit thinks she is not loved enough. Someone get her a bucket full of ice-cream from my side please so that her faith in humanity, love & Allah is restored!!!!

I really hope they had promoted this drama as a love story of Hashir & Bisma & not a story of a lost toddler like Mashal, because that would’ve shifted the perspective of the viewers. This is what I was thinking about while watching this episode because the focus has purely been on Hashir & Bisma’s families, so it would’ve been better to treat them as main leads & Mashal as a supporting character because there’s more content in their tracks. Mashal’s track has absolutely nothing to offer & it gets kind of frustrating because I watch this drama with that thing in mind where I am waiting to see her life kick-starting but because it doesn’t happen, it looks like the story is stagnant or moving around in circles. I guess this was the second time we got to see Bisma & Hashir having a tiff over Mashal!?! So, what’s next?

Hashir has asked Appa Jee to arrange his & Bisma’s marriage too. I don’t know, it is perfectly fine to have a liking for your cousin but this drama has shown cousin love a very different level, as if all these girls & boys don’t have a social circle, friends or other people in their lives that they literally grew up dreaming about any random cousin in sight. Arman liked Mashal. Mashal liked Arman. Areesha loved Arman. Areesha got married to Arman. Bisma loves Hashir. Hashir loves Bisma. Oh yes, as much as I enjoyed watching Imran Abbas & Alizeh Shah in one frame because they both are beautiful actors, I was kind of forced to think about the amount of makeup in that frame too & I was finding it hard to figure out who was wearing more because they both were pretty much on the same level of ‘glam’, Masha Allah!

Shama & Faseeha are still upset at Arman & Areesha’s Nikkah. Faseeha is not keeping Areesha in any bubble because she knows the kind of mother in law Shama will be but Areesha doesn’t pay heed to all of this because she is satisfied with the fact that she will go overseas. I mean if there was any ‘new’ or ‘different’ situation in this episode of Jo Tu Chahay that I must’ve missed discussing then please do remind me of it in the comments because I failed to see anything new or interesting. Bisma loves Hashir so it was nice to see her accepting the fact that she will do whatever Hashir expects from her, so it kind of made me think that it is only Hashir who can change her for the better, unless he gets attracted towards his Chutki. The amount of time Appa Jee referred to Hashir & Mashal as behan bhai made me giggle a bit, I hope they do stay as behan bhai forever, let’s see!

Closing Thoughts – !?!?!?!?!

Jo Tu Chahay does have some good moments to it, it still qualifies as a good drama to tune to but the fact that the scenarios are so repetitive & the focus on side characters is kind of making it a very typical story which only focuses on family politics & nothing else. I do understand Mashal’s perspective too but to see her sulking in the corners, near windows is annoying to be honest. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Jo Tu Chahay.

Jo Tu Chahay Episode 8 Story Review – Nothing Exciting

Opening Thoughts – Decent Episode But Nothing New:

Ohkay so, this episode of Jo Tu Chahay was decent. I think a lot of time has been dedicated to the family politics, the equation & the dynamics that the clan of Appa Jee shares with each other. So far, they have successfully established the fact that Mashal is the oppressed one & she is mistreated at the hands of her aunts, so I feel they should move the story forward & focus more on Mashal’s character development. Let’s see when will that happen.

Mashal’s Dismay Seems Unconvincing:

Appa Jee took it on her & proposed Armaan’s marriage to Areesha. She did not make it obvious what her reasons were & that it was Armaan who decided to get married to Areesha instead of Mashal now. Appa Jee knew that if she’ll go on discussing the nitty gritty, it will call an undue attention on Mashal & that way, everyone will hold her responsible for this chaos. That is why based on her wisdom & maturity, Appa Jee made it seem like she was the one who had come up with this idea. Even Armaan made it seem like it was Appa Jee’s idea & he was just obliging but he knows that Appa Jee as well as Mashal are well aware of the truth. Armaan kind of eased his way out of this & didn’t take the ownership of his decision in front of his mother but when it came to Appa Jee, he clearly let her know that he only got married to Areesha because she & Mashal wanted him to.

Shama & Faseeha were obviously not happy but Areesha got what she wanted. Armaan is pretty happy that everything happened just so seamlessly & most of the family members were on his side, supporting this decision. Appa Jee feels she has done the right thing by making Areesha’s dream come true & this way she feels, she’ll be able to keep both the families connected but she has no idea what is brewing in Shama & Faseesha’s minds. I once again find it a pretty black & white picture that has been painted by the writer here where all the men are the positive ones & the ladies of the house are negative nancies.

Mashal just became a spectator with a bucket full of grudges, complains & tears under her belt. I still fail to see the reason behind Mashal’s disappointment & her dismay at the thought of Armaan getting married to someone else & not her. I feel if they had shown that she had an immense amount of respect for Armaan even before he made an entry in the drama, her feelings would’ve seemed a bit justified but not sure why she is sporting a forlorn face when she herself has admitted that she didn’t ‘love’ Armaan? Some background I feel would’ve made these feelings & emotions seem a bit convincing but right now, it just looks out of the blue & is making Mashal look a little desperate, a little less than Areesha but definitely desperate. Yes, Mashal has always yearned for love & attention, but why is it that she thought her marriage to Armaan will provide her all of that, considering she immediately thought of the fact that Shama & Bisma have always been mean to her? For any other girl, she’d have been a little burdened with the fact that she’ll have to deal with the likes of Shama & Bisma after her marriage to Armaan but oh boy, Mashal ne to ye baat dil se hi laga li hai!

I know this story is about a girl who is discovering herself & her reliance on Allah, but I wish they now shift the story actually on her growth because I feel a lot of time has been invested in the supporting characters & their lives. I also want to see the focus shifting on Hashir’s character because right now he is looking like a supporting character too, not sure if he is even the lead or what? To be honest, as much as I enjoy watching this drama, I feel it is not a review-material because the situations are just so plain & there’s nothing detailed or complex about it. I also would love to see Mashal finding a purpose & not wasting her time thinking about ‘why’ no one loves her? I mean she should’ve been immune to it by now but no, she is stuck in a rut I feel. No doubt all the things that Appa Jee says to Mashal are insightful & hold a lot of meaning but to see no mental or emotional growth in Mashal makes it a little frustrating because it then looks like everything that Appa Jee says is going to waste!

I have mentioned this before that these surrounding circumstances are used to define the kind of mindset Mashal has & what she goes through but I feel due to so much of focus on these side characters, the purpose of Mashal’s journey is being lost somewhere. I will still say that this drama is worth a watch but yes, when it comes to discussing it, there’s nothing special in any episode to be honest, which I hope changes.

Closing Thoughts – Hoping For It To Wow Me:

Overall, this episode of Jo Tu Chahay was average & there wasn’t anything special that wowed me. I did however enjoy Nargis Rasheed’s performance like I always do. All the situations & scenarios are realistically portrayed but I feel everything has been-there-seen-that kind of feel to it that it has stopped appealing to me, which I hope changes. I have also noticed the new trend, that they rightly censor the unwanted physical contact between the characters/actors, I saw that happen in this week’s episode of Surkh Chandni & even in this episode they edited out the hug between Armaan & Areesha, so when they know that they can not show such stuff, then isn’t it better to not shoot it at all? It is obviously unwanted & doesn’t help the situation at all. Anyhow, please share your thoughts about this episode of Jo Tu Chahay.

Jo Tu Chahay Episode 7 Story Review – Change of Name

Opening Thoughts – Change of Name:

Ohkay so, they have changed the name of Kun Faya Kun to Jo Tu Chahay, which I think is the right decision. However, I do feel that the name should’ve been a bit more impactful, this one just looks like a last minute thought, as if they ran out of time so they decided to name it whatever. Well, the good part is that the name of the drama is not going to have any effect on the story or the plot so it’s all good. I hope they also edit out those dialogues where they have forcefully used the terms such as Kun, Faya Kun because no one uses such meaningful words just so casually, especially while discussing their personal matters.

Mashal Sacrificed Her Happiness:

So, Mashal once again told Appa Jee everything but this time around, Appa Jee didn’t really try to convince Mashal, she just heard all of Mashal’s reasons & understood where she was coming from. This entire episode focused on Mashal’s heartbreak & how she was yet again blaming God for testing her with something she so eagerly wanted!?! As far as I remember, Mashal never really thought of Armaan, she just heard that he was interested in her, so not sure why her heart was now broken into trillion pieces at the thought of Arman’s proposal slipping away from her? I totally understand that this is Mashal’s journey, her journey of discovering the mysterious ways of how The Creator fulfills one’s dreams & wishes but to be honest, I am getting a littttttttttle tired of Mashal’s complaining & blaming. Anyways, Mashal thought things through & she realized that she could not ignore everything that Areesha had told her. Mashal respected Areesha’s wishes & the love she had for Arman. Even though Mashal ended up revealing Areesha’s secret, she still held her ground & convinced Appa Jee that she could not get married to Arman.

Arman tried to fight Mashal but he really could not understand why she was adamant on getting him married to Areesha until he met Areesha himself. Areesha put up quite an act in front of Arman to convince him that she loved him madly. It took only one such act of Areesha to score a spot for herself in Arman’s heart. The crux of this entire scenario was that Arman never really understood Mashal as a person. He had absolutely no idea that Mashal was doing Areesha a favor but this was also a test that he was faced with as well. Arman had promised Mashal that he loved him but in the end, he actually believed what he saw but didn’t really have the sight to see through Mashal’s eyes, he really didn’t have the wisdom to read between the lines & to understand that Mashal wanted to become a part of his life too but she was too shy to say that out loud. I actually couldn’t believe that Arman was convinced about Areesha’s love for him because of the emotional act & the dramatic stunt that she pulled in front of him. Arman actually got confused & thought this was the idea of love that excited him, he wanted to be loved the way Areesha had promised but then, he will later realize how suffocating Areesha’s obsession with him is going to be.

Mashal still had this glimmer of hope in her heart that Arman will stand by his decision but she has yet to find out that she will be left broken-hearted yet again. Mashal once again put too much trust in Arman thinking he will oppose what she suggested & stand firm on his decision but she has no idea what will happen next. Once again, Mashal will be reminded that putting trust & faith in people is only going to be a let down, so instead she should trust her Creator & His Plans.

Bisma tried to normalize the tension between Shama & Faseeha but then Shama couldn’t stop noticing the keenness that Bisma was showing. Both Shama & Faseeha will obviously not easily accept Hashir & Bisma’s relationship. Hashir did however suggest that he was trying to talk about Bisma but I guess that hasn’t happened so far. May be he was talking about his attempts of bringing both the families together. Faseeha is rigid too, but it still seems that she might change her perspective but when it comes to Shama, she is on a whole new level.

Closing Thoughts – Excellent Acting by Arij Mohyuddin:

Overall, this episode of Jo Tu Chahay was good. The pace of this drama is comparatively slow so I guess the viewers will have to get used to it. I do however wish that we get to see more of Mashal & something more happening in her life than just her complaining & crying. I really wish Alizeh Shah had at least taken on-job classes from Arij Mohyuddin because when it comes to acting, she is on another level. The character of Areesha is obviously not anybody’s favorite but Arij Mohyuddin’s acting is excellent. Her controlled expressions & the pauses between delivering her dialogue shows the kind of amazing grip that she has on acting. Applaudable. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Jo Tu Chahay.

Jo Tu Chahay Episode 10 Story Review – Aflatooni Mohabbat What

Opening Thoughts – Aflatooni Mohabbat (Is that even a word/expression?)

Ohkay so, this episode of Jo Tu Chahay was pretty basic yet again. To be honest, even though they have changed the title of the drama, but still while watching this episode, I was wondering what ran through the writer’s mind that she decided to name this kind of cliched & below average story ‘Kun Faya Kun’. I remember when I heard the title, I automatically assumed that the story of this drama is going to be quite substantial, considering the kind of name it had, like these are some real powerful & meaningful words for us all, but now when I see this drama more & more, I really am glad that they have changed the title. I still feel Jo Tu Chahay is again a wrong title for it, because this drama could’ve easily passed as ‘Shadi, Khana Abadi’ or ‘Jethani Devrani Ki Jung’ or ‘Kunwari Larki Ke Khuwab’ or ‘Nashukri’ or ‘Mohallay Ki Mohabbatain’ or yes, going by what our Wise & Wicked Areesha said ‘Aflatooni Mohabbat’. Trust me, this is how basic & cliched the story of this drama is & I am still hoping that they will give me something substantial that will wow me but so far, I am feeling underwhelmed. I still feel this drama is worth watching, like even though it has a whole chunk of family politics but they still have kept it real, which makes it a decent drama to tune to but it is quite below average in terms of storyline!

Aflatooni Desperation:

After watching this episode, I am totally convinced that the story of this drama is based on desperate young girls who have been brought up with brain-feeding such as ‘miyan ke ghar jaogi to apne saray armaan puray kar lena’, because other than that I don’t see any reason behind all of them dying to get married, be it Bisma, be it Areesha or even our Bholi Masoom Shareef-e-Zamana Mashal. Every single episode shows one of them weaving the dream of getting married to the cousin-Bhaiyya-next-door. Areesha is lucky that she was the first one & this has made Bisma even more frustrated & our masoom Mashal has also tasted what it feels like to get approached by the cousin-bhaiyya-next-door & then just think about the idea of marriage, that is why she hasn’t been able to take that out of her masoomana mind.

I feel if the writer was going on the lines of making Mashal’s character like that of Kashaf from Zindagi Gulzar Hai, then she should’ve made Mashal a little different. I remember in the initial stages of Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Kashaf was full of grudges & complaints against Allah SWT too but then, her character was far more than that of an ungrateful woman who just cursed her own kismat & didn’t believe in doing the hard work. Kashaf changed her life & she did everything for her mother because she wanted to reward her for being her support system. Now this is what I will call a journey but now when I look at Mashal, going by what I have seen before in the form of Kashaf’s journey, I took Mashal’s complaining that way too because I felt she’ll snap out of this self-pity & focus on shaping her life but oh boy, for her, all of her dreams of studying & finding a job vanished into thin-air the moment Armaan ‘BHAI’ approached her. Mashal got all the more reasons to be ungrateful & indulge in self-pity because her armaan of getting married to Armaan BHAI couldn’t get materialized!!!

Areesha got her visa & now she was on cloud 9. To be honest, this entire situation was quite unrealistic where Hashir & Areesha started off with shadi ki shopping but no date was decided from Shama’s side? I mean where does a situation like this happen? Hashir is quite mature so I guess he should’ve analyzed the situation first. Also, I am not sure where does this happen too where a guy buys ticket for his wife when the official Rukhsati hasn’t taken place yet especially when this was not decided at the time of Nikkah? Anyways, Hashir has time & again proved that he is going to be there for Mashal & that he will take care of her smallest wishes too & oye hoye hoye hoyeeee, our masoom Mashal has started thinking about Hashir Bhai, oh no, I mean ‘un’. The preview made me roll my eyes so hard that I am now drinking a cup of black coffee to subside the headache. I wish they had edited out the scene where Mashal spoke about her future dreams which revolved around education & a career, rather they had shown her openly speaking about dreaming of getting married to her Cousin Charming because this is what her character has reduced to. I am not saying that dreaming about your marriage is a bad thing but to see all of these girls doing airee choti ka zorrrr for getting married, where one is going to Baba Jee, the other is glued to the window because that allows her to keep tabs on her boyfrand & this 12 year old Mashal is disappointed at one rishta getting wasted is really making all of them look like desperados!

So, Hashir has proved that he cares for Mashal & now after what he has heard where Mashal was yet again complaining to her friend, Hashir will go out of the way to do something nice for her & she will take this as an opportunity to think about ‘un’ yet again. I like how everyone tells Mashal that Hashir is her bhai but she has developed feelings for him, oh well, let’s ask Hashir what did he mix in those 2 scoops of ice-cream that Masoom Mashal ended up falling in Aflatooni Mohabbat for him? LOL!

Closing Thoughts – Aflatooni Cliched:

This episode of Jo Tu Chahay was Aflatooni One-dimensional. I guess the story overall of this drama is quite aflatooni cliched but let’s see if there’s something more to it than cousins longing for each other? *cringe alert*. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Jo Tu Chahay.

Jo Bichar Gaye Last Episode – Powerful and Emotional

Jo Bichar Gaye’s last episode was beautifully penned down and perfectly executed. Each track in the story ended in a way that made these characters and tracks unforgettable. This had to be the most powerful ending to a Pakistani drama and definitely well-suited for a drama that set the bar really high.

Rumi’s Revenge

This last episode of Jo Bichar Gaye opened with all those characters that played a major role in creating misunderstanding and hatred between the locals and the West Pakistanis celebrating their victory. Rumi’s track which had been a mystery for the past few episodes also took an unexpected turn. There was apparent darkness in Rumi ever since Haroon was killed but it was difficult to tell why! This opening scene solved the mystery when Rumi decided to take revenge on all those people who had to mislead him. This character’s evolution and its ending turned out to be more impactful than I was expecting it to be. Wahaj Ali showcased his acting skills like never before in the drama and most importantly in this final scene. The confidence and precision with which he translated so many different shades of this character at different stages was truly remarkable. I am extremely glad that he is finally being cast into roles that give him an opportunity to show his range as a performer. First in Dil Na Umeed Tu Nahin and now in Jo Bichar Gaye, he has given two solid performances back to back in roles that were completely different from each other.

Rumi’s character was etched-out brilliantly as well since it represented the youth that was misled by people they trusted and considered as their mentors, effectively. His journey made you understand the sentiments of a large segment of the population at the time, people who were educated and sensible but fell for the propaganda. Rumi’s track had a meaningful ending, especially because in the end, he used his madness to save others.

Jo Bichar Gaye Last Episode – Powerful and Emotional

The Surrender

The most emotional element of this episode had to be Farrukh’s track which has been such an apt representation of the sentiments of many such officers in the armed forces who were helpless yet determined to fight. Right from the beginning, Farrukh had the most realistic approach to this conflict. He picked up the signs of rebellion early on and also predicted where all of this was leading yet there was little he could do to change the situation. The chain of command at the time and the helplessness of those who were right in the middle of the conflict were shown in this drama with such clarity that it would have been easy for every viewer to understand the situation these soldiers were in. Many officers such as Farrukh fought right till the end and were not even willing to surrender yet they had to. Also, Sonia and Farrukh’s track coupled with the main protagonist’s sensitive nature added the human element to this conflict along with many other things.

In this episode as well Farrukh ran to save Sonia at a time when it was difficult for him to choose between his duty and his personal ordeals. This man fought multiple battles and it was pretty obvious that even though he was a dedicated officer, he was also a sensitive person who felt everything he went through. Since this track is based on a true story, you feel for this man even more. The writer’s approach has also been unbiased, without which this entire track would not have been as powerful as it was throughout. Talha Chahour deserves tons of praise for enacting this character in such a faultless manner on screen that you couldn’t help but feel every single thing Captain Farrukh went through. It is truly delightful to see young actors starting their acting careers with such challenging roles especially when they nail them completely. It will not be an exaggeration to say that Jo Bichar Gaye would not have been the same had Talha Chahour not been chosen to play this character.

The Human Cost

Sonia, Rumi, and even Farrukh’s track were the actual representation of the human cost of war. We fell in love with these characters and through them, we got to witness the tragedies and losses people suffered during the war and in the aftermath. The human cost of war usually does not get the attention it deserves because most often historic books do not focus on that! I feel that one of the biggest strengths of this drama was to give a proper face/s to all those people who will perhaps never get the opportunity to speak for themselves. Sonia’s track ended just as impactfully as all the other major ones. Even though she lost everyone she loved and even the cause she believed in, she still had the strength and determination to help others in need. Sonia was always shown as a strong and intelligent young lady therefore this ending went so well with the character. Maya Ali gave an outstanding performance in this episode and in the drama throughout. This character was a breath of fresh air right from the beginning and Maya Ali owned it right from the get-go.

Pure Genius

Jo Bichar Gaye overall was pure genius; an intelligent combination of history and emotions. This was not an easy script to handle since everyone has their own version and opinion about the separation of East Pakistan yet the writers of the drama did exceptionally well. The way they used international news reports to substantiate their stance was brilliant and intelligent. Apart from this, the characterizations were on point and most importantly the drama ended at the right time. The writer’s vision was quite clear from the beginning till the end. The director Haissam Hussain’s matchless direction definitely made all the difference; the locations he chose to shoot in were also perfect. This last episode in particular was directed so well that I could feel every single emotion of these characters especially the feeling of terror when Sonia was trying to save herself.

Jo Bichar Gaye’s makers definitely took a risk because this was the first time ever that a Pakistani drama attempted to tackle with such a sensitive and controversial historical fact in an unusual way. This experiment was an ultimate success therefore we hope we will get to watch more such dramas in the future. Special shout out to H2 Films for producing Jo Bichar Gaye; we need more producers who are willing to experiment.

Overall, Jo Bichar Gaye had a brilliant cast chosen to play roles which were well-suited for them. Every single actor gave the roles they were performing their best which made all these characters stand out irrespective of how much screen time they got. I especially loved Nadia Jamil in the role she played, what a brilliant comeback this was! The only reason Jo Bichar Gaye did not get the attention and viewership it deserved was bad or no marketing! This was truly unfortunate; I really hope that this does not stop the producers and actors from being part of such projects.

Jo Bichar Gaye will always be remembered as a masterpiece even though it did not get millions of views or ratings! Did you watch this last episode? Share your views.

Jo Bichar Gaye Episode 13 Story Review – The Best

This was one of the most emotional episodes of Jo Bichar Gaye since it covered the bitter realities of war in the most convincing manner. The makers showed these realities through the characters we fell in love with in these 12 weeks. Watching Jo Bichar Gaye has always been an intense experience but with time it is getting more impactful and distressing at the same time. It is definitely not easy sitting through this drama since it can be emotionally overwhelming. Tonight’s episode covered a great deal and much of it was one tragic turn after the other.

Bitter Realities

Tonight’s episode showed the events that took place months before Rumi surfaced. Much of what we watched in the first few minutes of this episode focused on the growing frustrations within the armed forces and the feeling of helplessness that has been there for some reason or the other right from the beginning. Apart from the military aspect, the political aspect of the conflict was yet again highlighted with utmost precision. In this episode as well, the makers made good use of the actual news clips which showed that on the political and diplomatic fronts, Pakistan and India both had completely different stances. This made me wonder why the US was so helpless in this situation since Pakistan was a close ally of the US at the time! The international community clearly did not do much to help Pakistan in the situation. This episode also covered how Bangladesh emerged as an independent state starting from the areas near the Indian border since they were getting a great deal of help from there. While the Pakistani military was completely helpless, these locals with the help of India had more control and confidence than ever.

Jo Bichar Gaye Episode 13 Story Review – The Best

Captain Farrukh’s expressions and his body language throughout have been such a great indicator of the mixed feelings within the armed forces at the time. Even though he is more than willing to do whatever it takes, the uncertainty and the lack of resources scares him. The fearful expressions on his face constantly remind the viewers of how difficult this situation would have been for these military men who were expected to engage in a war with such meager resources. Talha Chahour has done exceptionally well, especially in the scenes showing his character’s emotional, sensitive and vulnerable side. Adnan Jaffar also translated different aspects of his character brilliantly on screen. He understands the situation better than anyone else but he cannot show his vulnerabilities, especially to those soldiers who are putting their lives on the line for this mission. However, his conversations with Farrukh reflected how panicked he actually was.

The personal lives of the leading characters were the focus of attention as well in this episode. In the middle of all the chaos, the makers of the drama intelligently covered the internal and personal turmoil. Farrukh did not think about his own happiness while giving a reply to Sonia’s father. This meeting was penned down and executed so well. Similarly, the scenes covering the emotional burden on Sonia’s family were poignant. These were some of the most emotional scenes we have seen in this drama. Their initial conversations also covered how differently many others felt about the war. I have personally heard such stories from people who witnessed this war and watching dog fights was actually exciting for many! Sonia’s father’s tragic death and her mother’s state of mind depicted collateral damage like no other. The situation at the hospital was another true depiction of the ugly side of war. While for many this war was a means to an end, for many others such as Sonia this was a traumatic experience that led to the loss of their loved ones and they went through the most dreadful experiences. Sonia has for now lost every single family member. Will she reunite with her mother?

Final Remarks

Jo Bichar Gaye has managed to shed light on every aspect of this conflict and has done so with clarity. This episode was powerful; there were so many scenes tonight which were extremely emotional. The timeline however was confusing in this episode as well, especially Sonia’s father’s meeting with Farrukh considering the fact that they met for the first time after Haroon’s death in one of the previous episodes. I have to admit that the dates going back and forth tend to be confusing as well, especially for someone like me! Maya Ali’s performance was one of the best she has given in recent times. She breathed life into these scenes and that is why her loss and helplessness were amplified on-screen. The phenomenal performances by the cast make the emotions which the writer wanted to convey to the viewers come alive. The director Haissam Hussain always makes sure that the viewers form a strong emotional connection with his characters and he has definitely outdone himself this time around. This was definitely one of the best episodes of Jo Bichar Gaye.

Jo Bichar Gaye Episode 12 Story Review – Powerful

This latest episode of Jo Bichar Gaye was brilliantly put together; it was engaging and intriguing. Everything that was missing from the previous episode was a part of this one. There was fear, intrigue, and little hope! Things will only get serious from here on and since the whole feel of this drama is so real, sometimes it is really difficult sitting through an entire episode in one go. The reality of this tragedy sets in even more with every passing episode and the human element of this tragedy is definitely the most heart-wrenching one. The cinematography has been phenomenal throughout and the performances never disappoint.

Powerful and Impactful

Tonight’s episode of Jo Bichar Gaye opened with the kind of powerful scenes which I personally missed watching in the previous episode. The performances as well as the execution made these scenes impactful. Rumi and Sonia’s dangerous late-night adventure and the way Sonia’s mother reacted to it showed how much had changed and just how angry she still was. Her anger was quite clear in the previous episode as well but it definitely needed to be spelled out the way it was done in this scene. Nadia Jamil is an exceptional performer who gave this scene her best. I felt this mother’s pain and anger instantly. Rumi’s apology and Sonia’s shock made this scene even more wholesome. Sonia was never in favor of the movement for the creation of Bangladesh before too and in all this time nothing has changed. Which makes me wonder why she helped Rumi and whose side is he on? She is the face of those locals who identified as Pakistanis even though there was so much pressure on them. I am wondering what was it in Sonia’s house that her acquaintance came to get and how that is going to impact this track. Maya Ali’s performance has also been outstanding throughout; she makes sure that every single scene leaves an impact. Even though Sonia is a strong woman, she is also fearful of what is ahead.

Jo Bichar Gaye Episode 12 Story Review – Powerful

Sonia and captain Farrukh’s scene tonight was one of the most important ones since through this scene the writer highlighted the propaganda and bloodshed that was used to turn the Bengalis against the Pakistani army. His dialogues were penned down beautifully because he managed to get such an important message across without giving a long explanation. The love story which came to a standstill due to the circumstances moved forward once again and this time around as well by Farrukh. Talha Chahour’s performed brilliantly in this scene especially the helpless and sensitive side of this character has been translated on-screen so well by him. Even though the circumstances these two are in are anything but ideal, there is always a definite spark whenever they are together. I am glad the makers of the drama have added clips from actual news from the time and that too which is not local, in order to authenticate the stance of the writer. It does put things into perspective and must clarify things for those who are not too sure if Jo Bichar Gaye’s writer’s stance is right or not. The Indian interference in the conflict started early on yet there are many who deny that India played such an active role in the conflict and that they put forward the narrative that India only came to ‘help’ when the locals asked for it. This is an important part of the narrative and it is being told in the most convincing manner possible.

Even tonight, it was difficult to tell what Rumi’s actual ‘mission’ or intention was. Whose side is he on? Is he one of those people too who are convinced that the Pakistani army killed all those innocent civilians? It surely seems like the case. The writer has done exceptionally well when it comes to communicating how much distrust there was among people therefore it was much easier to create misunderstandings between them.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode was emotional, upsetting, and powerful. The intriguing element of the drama keeps you wondering how these tracks will unfold. The preview of the next episode suggested that something major will happen next week.

Jo Bichar Gaye Episode 11 – Six Months Later

Tonight’s episode of Jo Bichar Gaye was completely different from the previous one which focused more on the military aspect of the conflict. While Jo Bichar Gaye continues to highlight the basic elements which have been the strength of the drama right from the start, tonight’s episode was not the best. For the first time, the story lacked flow since the scenarios changed altogether. In my opinion, it would have been so much better had the story started right after Haroon’s tragic exit from the story in the previous episode. It was difficult to relate to the feelings of some of the characters after these 6 months since more than anyone else I was waiting to see Haroon’s mother’s reaction. For the longest time, she was shown as someone who literally slept through most of the political discussions and did not take this entire situation as seriously as the others were taking it. Haroon’s demise would have proved to be the most bitter reality check yet that aspect has been completely ignored or perhaps it was never there and I was reading between the lines unnecessarily! The performances were top-notch as always and the artsy feel of the drama goes well with its pace and content.

Latest Developments

Tonight’s episode opened by introducing a completely changed Rumi to the viewers. Haroon’s untimely demise changed so much for so many people around him. Rumi obviously felt he was responsible for what had happened and therefore he was now on a mission quite different from the one he was on before! The young man who was strictly against violence had now taken up arms and was not scared of taking extreme measures. His conversation with Sonia about the kind of life he was living also gave the viewers a clear-cut idea about how much had changed in these six months. Just a few months back, he was a part of a family which gave him both love and comfort. Now, he had Sonia and her father’s support and love but Haroon’s mother clearly felt differently. She was never comfortable with Haroon getting so involved in the movement and blamed Rumi for getting him involved. Her last meeting with Haroon was not ideal therefore the scene showing remorse as well as sadness resonated with me. However, all through this episode, I felt I needed to see more of her. It was evident from some of the scenes covering her state of mind that Haroon’s demise had altered her personality altogether. She was no longer the fun, witty, and talkative person anymore.

Rumi and Sonia’s scenes suggested that Sonia felt sorry for him more than anything else. These two were always close even though they had their differences. Captain Farrukh and Sonia’s first meeting was confusing, there was more bitterness than I had expected and it made me wonder if Sonia held him partially responsible for whatever happened to Haroon. However, as the episode moved forward, it was evident that Sonia still felt the same way for Farrukh yet she would not admit her feelings to him. Sonia’s father has always been shown as an open-minded individual therefore it was once again pleasing watching him welcome Farrukh and take him to the graveyard with him. It was surprising that Farrukh had waited this long to visit them! He had been staying away from this family because he did not want to make things difficult for them but even then six months was too long for someone like him to stay out of touch with them.

Jo Bichar Gaye Episode 11 – Six Months Later

The military aspect of the story was covered through the conversations between Farrukh and his associates. Whatever we heard was not too different from what we had been hearing six months back. The military’s stance has always been weak right from the beginning. Now with the passage of time they are losing more soldiers and are more limited than ever. The fact that Farrukh did not get the leave so that he could go and see his mother went to show how serious the situation was. Rumi also warned Sonia and told her to persuade her family to leave for West Pakistan. The war, it seems, is in its final stage. Some of the primary supporting characters who had been a part of the drama right from the beginning were completely missing from this episode.

Final Remarks

After watching this episode, I am hoping that Jo Bichar Gaye has enough substance to continue being as interesting as it was for the past 10 weeks. Tonight’s episode belonged to Wahaj Ali; he looked like a completely different person outwardly as well. Since there has been so much focus on Farrukh and Sonia in the past few episodes, it was confusing watching Sonia going all out to support Rumi even though it was evident that she felt for him.

Jo Bichar Gaye Episode 10 Story Review – Taking Up Arms

Jo Bichar Gaye has to be the most underrated gem on television right now. Every week it literally jolts the viewers to the core; showing those dark times which are perhaps somewhat of a ‘mystery’ even for viewers such as me who have studied history for years! The separation of East Pakistan has to be one of those painful topics which aren’t talked about a lot in mainstream media since even to date the causes are debatable. While on the one side Jo Bichar Gaye shows the military and political situation at the time, it also focuses more on the human aspect which makes the characters relatable and the journey emotional. Jo Bichar Gaye is such an apt title as well, the more I think about it the more I find myself appreciating the writer/s for coming up with this title. The honesty with which the story and emotions have been covered is beyond impressive since the writer has shown how terrified the military men were at the time and also the fact that the establishment miscalculated certain situations. Even today, historians question if this tragedy could have been averted had the people at the helm of affairs taken the right decisions at the right time.

Even though I have read so much about the separation of East Pakistan, watching this tragedy unfold on screen has an impact like no other. I could honestly not have imagined being this involved in a drama covering the tragedy. Team Jo Bichar Gaye deserves tons of credit for a job well done. The director Haissam Hussain has created the right kind of atmosphere for each scene. The leading men are heroes who are not perfect; you understand their failure to deal with the situation and realize why things got so out of control. Also, the writer has shown how the locals were exploited by those who wanted power and control.

Taking Up Arms

Tonight’s episode of Jo Bichar Gaye covered the military aspect of the movement more than anything else. Haroon became a victim of a movement that he thought was meant to protect him and others like him. I couldn’t help but wonder why Rumi allowed him to go to the university, given the situation. However, he was the face of all the collateral damage which is most often inevitable in war especially when it is a civil war such as this one. The writer has convincingly shown how those running this movement had motives different from the ones few of the other people such as Rumi and Haroon identified with. They used young people to their advantage and turned their backs when they felt they no longer needed them. Propaganda is an important tool during the war and here we see it being used to the maximum. Wahaj Ali has done exceptionally well as Rumi, it is the kind of role which truly gave him the opportunity to showcase his amazing acting skills. The scenes covering how Rumi desperately looked for Haroon and later on tried to escape with him couldn’t have been this powerful had Wahaj and Fazal Hussain not acted so brilliantly. Fazal Hussain was also extremely convincing in the role.

Jo Bichar Gaye Episode 10 Story Review – Taking Up Arms

Captain Farrukh’s worst fears came true one by one in this episode. He was one of those few officers who predicted early on where this movement was leading but he did not have the decision-making power. He is a young man who is in the middle of this conflict and is getting to see first-hand how things are changing yet there isn’t much he has been able to do about it. When you see through this drama how weak the military is getting with every passing phase even with all the manpower and gunpower, you realize why it ultimately surrendered. The final scene of this episode was the most impactful, those dialogues said so much about the state of affairs at the time. While the higher-ups were focused on preventing more damage, officers such as captain Farrukh were trying to understand how and why did the situation get so worse!

Watching each episode of this drama is like reliving these days which we have read about in books multiple times yet perhaps never understood the human cost of this tragedy and the havoc it played with those who were directly involved in it. I found myself feeling everything all these characters went through even though some of them put up a brave face, the underlying fear has been such a dominant element in all the recent episodes. This drama has encapsulated the lack of trust and fear of your own countrymen like no other.

Final Remarks

With this episode, the story took a more tragic turn than ever. The previous few episodes set the foundation for everything we witnessed today convincingly. The writer, director, and actors deserve tons of credit for breathing life in every scene. Talha Chahour, Wahaj Ali, Adnan Jaffar, Fazal Hussain, Rana Majid, and Fahad Hashmi truly stood out in this latest episode. This episode was just as emotional and reality-stricken as all the previous ones. It is truly sad that this drama is not getting the attention that it deserves. I did not even find out about it until two episodes had already aired because I hardly ever watch Geo dramas and most importantly because there was barely any mention of the drama on social media! While Geo goes out of its way to promote dramas such as Aye Musht-e-Khaak, it has done the bare minimum to promote the drama. Even Maya Ali did not go out of her way to promote the project. I won’t be surprised if so many viewers, such as me, who do not tune into Geo don’t even know that this drama is on air! It is unfortunate when such projects do not get the viewership they deserve.

Do you believe on the existence of unseen bodies with supernatural powers? If you do not, then Pakistani morning shows can be a good source to make you believe that there actually are. It was only a few days back that Sahir Lodhi conducted an entire show on the theme and adding much to that, he even shared his own experience where he encountered the presence of him (an unseen power).

Sahir Lodhi explained his experience in front of a scholarly panel and said that he and his assistant Raja. Who takes care of him, has experienced some unnatural moves in their lives. The first time it went into notice was when Sahir asked his assistant to make his LCD go on AV mode and when he was about to sleep, the mode changed to its normal telecast, though he didn’t had its remote.

He also mentioned that when he went to washroom, the lights got off themselves and the moment he came out, they glowed again. The same happened again and again.

As his third major experience, it was Raja again who was a joint witness of this. It was when he parked his automatic car in parking making Raja sit in car while he went out of it for something. On his return Raja, horrified with what has happened, told him that the car mode changed itself from Parking and the car started to move it.

As been written in the Holy Book of Quran, Jinns do exist and there are thousands of people who feel them, see them and even talk to them. However, believing on your real Lord for help and safety is all what you need to do to fight against their harmful deeds because just like every other being on earth, their Creator is none other than Allah.

So, do you think that unseen forces are following Sahir Lodhi everywhere? Do you have ever witnessed anything similar? Feel free to share your experiences.

God Bless You,

Nida Zaidi

Jimmy Khan Reintroduces Electric With “Madame”

Jimmy Khan has brought music and fashion together. The fusion that he has brought forward is what we can almost never forget. This time, after a long wait, he has come up with a new Electric song “Madame”.

Talking about his venture into music again, Khan said:

“For me, now that I think about it, it’s hard-hitting to know that people expect something from you. At one point, when nobody really knew me, there was nothing. Madame is a song with which I’ve ventured into a completely new dimension, and what I enjoyed the most, is that it is something that was not expected from me. I’m not trying to alter myself to expectations.”

“It’s not just a transition, it’s a dual role on purpose, and something I’ve added onto my wagon from what it only used to be. I’ve also indulged into commercial, mainstream music now, which is off the brand ‘Jimmy Khan’. I write for myself, but I do commission work as well.”

Madame was written a year ago, but wasn’t released due to some reservations. Clarifying his stance, he further said:

“It was a composition I worked with my very dear friend and lyricist, Danial last year and while writing it, or even when you’ll hear it, it could be very generic; it could be about anything. I honestly wasn’t in the mood to release it right now, but when Zain took it to the studio; played the electric guitar, he wanted to rearrange my sound as well and it was very interesting, the direction he wanted to take it in.”

Jimmy Khan is currently working along the lines of releasing a new album in the near future. We wish him all the best and believe that he will revive the pop music scene once again.

Jia Ali Reveals How She Evolved With Age

Jia Ali was very open about her age and she revealed that she has turned 53 years old this year. She was very confident unlike many other women her age and shared that this is not a very old age. The 70s and 80s are when you really become senior. She is now fully mature, her mind is stable and she is at peace with her life. She never hides her age from anyone and does not understand the wisdom behind doing it.

Jia Ali Reveals How She Evolved With Age

This is what she shared:

Jia Ali has also evolved over the years. She revealed that she uses mud utensils and wooden spatulas to cook her food. She has cut down chemicals from her life. Her food is cooked in mud pots while all those utensils are then cleaned with soda and lemon. She does not want synthetic materials to enter her food. Jia Ali is all praises about the present Pakistani film industry

0

Jia Ali who belongs to the supermodel catergory of models in Pakistan and who is also an actress and has worked in many dramas has recently said that the new generation of filmmakers are introducing the Pakistani cinema industry in the world through their quality and interesting films.

She also said that it is needed that such filmmakers should be encouraged as Pakistani filmmakers are going towards improvement with the passage of time.

She even announced that she’ll also do a film if something which suits her is offered to her.

“A filmmaker will not achieve success until he produces movies that are according to the standards of box office and temperament of the audience,” she said.

Jhootha – Mathira on her new video

0

While most of us do not like talking about her we must have definitely come across the viral video of hers with a 12-year old kid Arbaz Khan. So far the video titled “Jhootha” has earned for itself uncountable likes and shares over the social media which has sparkled the success of it.

“It’s a nice, lovable and cute video and there is nothing chichora (cheap) about it,” This is what mathira has to say about the video and she completely neglects the negative perception which has arisen from public on her video.

Mathira may sound shocked by what she likes to call a ‘strange’ response from the public, but the negative response has more to do with her cosying up to a 12-year-old than anything else. One might find the featuring of the young boy as a gimmick to get the attention, but Mathira believes that it’s just cute.

“What if a kid is praising me in a cute fashion?” she asks her critics.“What’s wrong with a young boy coming up to you and saying that you are so beautiful? After all, appreciation does come in many forms.”

She shared the concept behind the video, which was about a young fan that accidentally runs into Mathira, and starts praising her in his own way. Arbaz Khan is an upcoming rapper signed up by the same record label as Mathira, Beyond Records. Mathira believes Arbaz, who wrote all the lyrics himself, is a very talented musician and has done a great job.

“More than promoting new talent, it was an honour for me and Arbaaz to perform alongside one another, and haters will hate no matter what I do” she says.

The memes popping are mainly critical of Mathira’s wardrobe, deeming it to be vulgar.

“This is where the Pakistani double standard comes in,” she scoffs.

“What’s wrong with a kid being featured in a video along with a girl in a jumpsuit, when every other kid in Pakistan has listened to songs which are ten times more vulgar, such as Candy Shop.”

Mathira strongly believes that people tend to mix culture with entertainment, something that she had to argue about when she started her career as a late night show, and continues to do so with this video.

“We should not mix media and entertainment with culture. Media is flashy, glamorous and fake, so let be like that!”

We all know that the young lady does know how to remain in the lime light of the industry. She also contributed in an Indian Film performing an item number, then she also got hold of an Indian advertisement which also became a subject of concern in our industry but she is brave enough to fight with all and similarly she does with it too – The new video of hers with a kid

We wish her good luck and expect her to come with something  SENSIBLE, the next time which doesn’t at least get covered with controversies

Let us know whether you have also seen the video and do write to us about your take on her video’s popularity
