This year was definitely slightly better than the last one because it had more than just one decent drama to its credit. Last year Pyare Afzal was the only real sensation which blew the viewers away. This year too while there was only one play which truly hit a home run with majority of the viewers but overall there were quite a few dramas which were executed really well, gave the viewers some unforgettable performances to watch and were followed and appreciated by many viewers.
Having said that I must admit that the quality of dramas on both these leading channels has deteriorated over the years mostly because of the fact that there is a rat-race because of which everything needs to be done quickly. The writers do not get adequate time to pen down the script, the producers most often tell the writers what kind of a storyline they should follow therefore writers cannot entirely put their creativity to good use, the directors too are pressurized to get the drama wrapped up in a certain period of time and the actors also have very little choice because they have to choose one of these projects since almost everyone is playing it safe nowadays. Also, some very talented actors are being typecast.
Since last year we have been comparing HUM and ARY Digital as opposed to writing an overview of all the dramas of the year. The reason for this is that even though HUM and ARY Digital aren’t exactly giving the viewers the kind of dramas which were once the benchmark of these channels but these two channels are watched the most by the viewers. Geo television unfortunately did not give a single hit this year. In fact there wasn’t a single drama on Geo TV that truly attracted the attention of the viewers. The dramas on Geo TV lately seem to be influenced heavily by Turkish and Indian dramas.
When the year 2015 started HUM was airing plays like Sadqay Tumhare, Digest Writer, Zid, Aik Paland Mehram among others. These dramas started in 2014 but they ended in the year 2015 therefore we will be counting them as 2015 dramas. Digest Writer was highly appreciated by people because of the script, direction and acting. Many people felt that it was the best drama of the season. Sadqay Tumhare was Mahira’s comeback play after Shehr-e-Zaat and it was also Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s first play that went on air after Pyare Afzal. The expectations from this drama were huge. The script of the drama was bold, the execution impressive and it had a stellar cast that gave their best performances. Sadqay Tumhare’s bold dialogues however did not resonate with many of the viewers but it also had a good fan following.
Zid was a complete disaster mainly because of the weak script. Bee Gul, who is popular for her “artistic” dramas was forced to write a commercial script by HUM and the result was a complete train wreck. While Aik Pal had some following, Mehram did not gain a lot of popularity. In the first season HUM did offer two dramas which attracted the attention of the viewers and kept many glued till the end.
ARY Digital started the year 2015 with plays like Chup Raho, Mein Bushra, Doosri Biwi and Goya among others. All these dramas started in 2014 but they were still on air and being watched by the viewers in the year 2015. All these dramas had one thing in common – they started off as engaging plays but after a few episodes all these dramas went downhill and by the time they ended the viewers were happy to see them coming to an end!! ARY set new standards in terms of stretching dramas to a point that a lot of people stopped watching ARY’s dramas altogether. The characters and the story did not even make much sense by the time these dramas ended. Chup Raho was promoted as the most watched play of the season by ARY but it got nothing but criticism from the viewers.
Goya was shifted to 9 pm slot few weeks after it went on air and it was replaced by drama serial Dil Nahin Manta, the only attraction of the play Mein Bushra was Bushra’s character which was turned into another one of those bechari heroines after a few episodes and Doosri Biwi was literally just another Doosri Biwi play which made a mockery of marriage. Dil Nahin Manta and Nazdeekiyan were two more plays that aired in the first season and they don’t even deserve a mention here.
In the first season, HUM definitely took the lead with Digest Writer and Sadqay Tumhare. Both these dramas were appreciated by the viewers and were the most talked about dramas of the first season. ARY Digital was discussed mostly by the viewers for the twisted story lines and the way in which the dramas on ARY were stretched beyond limit.
Second season of the year started with brand new dramas on HUM like Alvida, Diyar-e-Dil, Jugnoo, Mol, Karband Kitna Satatay Ho. Diyar-e-Dil was undoubtedly the biggest hit of this season, it was liked by many because it was a complete package. It proved to be one of those rare dramas which the viewers remember for a long time.
Alvida was enticing and it brought the Dil-e-Muztar jodi back on screen therefore it was followed by many. It also marked the comeback of Naveen Waqar in dramas and was fast paced. Jugnoo was enjoyed by those people who wanted to see something different and Mol also was considered a popular drama. Karb and Kitna Satatay Ho didn’t get a lot of popularity but they didn’t go unnoticed either.
Mohabbat Aag Siand Muqaddas were also popular although they aired at 9pm. The strategy of showing enticing dramas which aired more than once a week worked for HUM for the 9pm slot.
The dramas that aired on ARY in the second season were Meray Dard Ki Tujhe kya Khabar, Zinda Dargour, Tere DarPar, Aitraz, Mumkinand Daraar. Some of these plays are still on air because the plays on ARY end only when the producers are very sure that they got their money’s worth!
None of the dramas which aired on ARY in the second season were popular among the viewers. They did not even boast of a star cast and the only drama Aitraz which had a star cast had a very weak storyline. Mumkin and Meray Dard Ki Tujhe Kya Khabar were followed by the viewers but they couldn’t pass as dramas which were hits. HUM, on the other hand gave the biggest hit of the season and the year in this season. It also showed a couple of dramas which were definitely a lot better than the dramas ARY Digital showed therefore clearly HUM was the winner in the second season as well.
There has been a complete and utter disregard of viewers’ choice by ARY this year. The fact that the biggest hit of last year Pyare Afzal was replaced by a drama like Chup Raho pretty much says it all!
HUM was a clear winner this year not because it gave a lot of quality dramas to its viewers to watch but only because it gave a handful of quality dramas which were in every way much better than anything which ARY had to offer. Diyar-e-Dil was the biggest accomplishment of HUM this year. There is a lot of room for improvement however because the promos of the latest dramas on HUM TV clearly suggest that HUM is all set to take the bechari aurat route too!! Also plays like Sangat and Gul-e-Rana are following in the footpath of drama serial Chup Raho, which people probably watched out of curiosity but was most definitely not a favorite. Viewers still have huge expectations from HUM and hope that they will deliver this year. There was a time when plays like Vasl, Dastan, Qaid-e-tanhai, Mastana Mahi, Meera Naseeb. Pani Jaisa Pyar, Mein Abdul Qadir Hoon, Maat and Hamsafar all went on air within a span of only 2 years. And HUM TV’s “average” dramas in these two years were plays like Parsa, Meray Qatil Meray Dildar and Sanjha.
ARY Digital definitely delivered when it came to revival of cinema in Pakistan but failed miserably in giving its viewers quality dramas to watch. Jawani Phir Nahi Aani was the biggest hit of all times and Ho Mann Jahan is already making waves as the most awaited film of the year 2016.
Do share your thoughts about the dramas you watched in 2015. Do you agree that HUM was a clear winner this year?
Most of the dramas of 2014 were a mix of controversies and clichés! The scripts of majority of the dramas reflected a lack of creativity. Star casts and great production values were used to entice the viewers and issues related to marital life remained the focus of our dramas.
Unlike the past three years or so HUM failed to keep up the high standards which it had set for itself a few years back when Hamsafar and Durr-e-Shahwar went on air. HUM started this year by airing dramas like Mohabbat Subha Ka Siatara Hai, Bunty I Love You, Zindagi Tere Bina, Rubaru, Ishq Mein Tere, Main Deewani, Izteraaband many more which mostly lacked the must-watch factor. Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai was written by Umera Ahmed but it failed to leave an impact on the viewers. Most of the viewers failed to relate to Romaissa’s character and for the most part the supporting characters got more screen time than the leading lady herself. Bunty I Love You was written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and it was anything but the usual love story we see on screen. This drama was definitely different but somewhat heavy duty as well and definitely not the sort of drama many people could relate to because of the unusual storyline. Mein Dewani was a weekend play which was completely sidelined by drama serial Shukk.
ARY Digital on the other hand welcomed 2014 with dramas like Pyare Afzal, Shukk, Sannata, Meri Beti, Mere Apne and Zara Aur Mehrunissa. The fact is that Pyare Afzal and Shukk were the most watched and talked about plays of the first season of 2014. While Shukk disappointed its viewers in more ways than one Pyare Afzal proved to be a play which will be remembered for a long time. The characters of the actors playing the lead in the play became their new introduction. Khalil-ur-Rehman’s script and a different storyline proved to be a breath of fresh air for the viewers. Most of the viewers who were sick and tired of watching gherulu problems on screen felt like a romantic play with some very impressive and memorable characters was just what the doctor ordered. PyareAfzal had to be the biggest hit of this year which basically goes to show that ARY definitely won the first half of the race between these two channels.
In the second half of the year HUM aired dramas like Mausam, Aahista Aahista, Laa, Firaaq, Shanakht, MohabbatAb Nahi Hogi, Du Saal Ki Aurat andMere Meherban among others. All the weekend plays of HUM in this season did not get enough attention or appreciation from the viewers. Mausam and Aahista Aahista had weak storylines, mediocre characters and both these plays were slow paced. Laa had a different storyline but it did not get a massive viewership mainly because people were not impressed by the direction or the acting. Firaaq went from being a masterpiece to a complete disaster in only 10 weeks! Plays like Shanakht and Mohabbat Ab NahiHogi were appreciated more by the viewers than those dramas which boasted of a star cast and had big names attached to them.
ARY Digital started the second half of the year with dramas like Shikwa, Koi Nahi Apna, Soteli, Bhabi and Pyare Afzal had not gone off air even till now when all the dramas that started at about the same when Pyare Afzal went on air had ended. All these dramas were the kind of dramas that keep you hooked for some time but completely go off track after a while. Most of the dramas that aired on HUM in the second half were not impressive in any way but they were certainly followed by the viewers more than the ones which aired on ARY Digital. The fact that PyareAfzal was still being watched by many people proved to be a plus for ARY.
The plays that are currently on air on HUM include Sadqay Tumhare, Digest writer, Aik Pal, Mehram, Tum Mere Hi Rehna, Zidand Nikkah will be replacing Firaaq on Sundays. Until now Sadqay Tumhare and Digest Writer have proven to be far better than the plays which HUM aired on weekends in the last season but it remains to be seen how the stories unfold in the future and what kind of a response they get from the viewers.
The dramas that are presently airing on ARY include, Chup Raho, Mein Bushra, Khataa, Khuda Na Karay, Goyaa, Dil Nahi Manta, Doosri Biwiand Na Katro Pankh Meray. There are no clear winners in this list till now. Chup Raho and Mein Bushra are being followed by many viewers but are they being liked as well?? I guess not. They are more like guilty pleasures or plays which people continue watching out of curiosity. It looks like HUM will have more to offer to its viewers than ARY at the start of this new year but one cannot be too sure since many of the dramas which started off really well on HUM this year did not deliver in the last few episodes.
Do you think we have a clear winner here? I think the fact that ARY had two hits to its credit this year and HUM had none makes ARY a clear winner. While HUM failed to live up to its hard earned reputation this year ARY managed to come up as a strong contender. Sadqay Tumhare and Digest Writer might prove to be a step in the right direction for HUM if they manage to keep the viewers engaged till the end but airing dramas like Nikkah and that too on weekends might prove to be fatal for HUM. Unfortunately, our channels greatly compromised on quality this year therefore while evaluating their dramas one has to be very generous in order to reach a logical conclusion!
Let’s hope that this year these channels and all the others have more to offer than showing us the same stories over and over again!

HUM and ARY are the leading channels that most viewers tune into for watching dramas. Both channels have evolved over the years. These channels have also contributed to the revival of Pakistani dramas. This year too if we take a look at the kind of dramas that are being aired on both these channels, their basic philosophy is quite clear.
Honestly speaking, this philosophy became more clear to me when I sat down to draw these comparisons and consciously looked for which dramas were airing on a specific day on these channels. The results were as clear as daylight by the time I was done with my ‘research’. As a drama buff with keen observation and also as someone who has been writing about dramas for more than 8 years now, I find it interesting how channels keep on changing their policies and priorities.
It is also upsetting to see just how invested some producers are in winning the TRPs race. Thankfully, there are still those production houses which believe in innovation and meaningful entertainment. Broadly speaking, there are two different kinds of viewers watching these dramas; those who love watching fast-paced done-to-death stories as long as they are ‘entertaining’ and others who find new concepts refreshing.
Personally, I believe that dramas should be intelligently written, executed and the end product should be entertaining, everything else is secondary. My definition of an exceptional drama is one that entertains and enlightens at the same time.
I decided to draw a fair comparison between dramas that are airing at 8 pm on HUM and ARY on specific days. Since the 8 pm is the prime slot in which the channels air their best dramas.
Monday 8 pm Dramas on HUM and ARY
Monday is the most difficult day of the week for some people who do not always start the week with the same enthusiasm as others. You would think that the channels will prefer showing something fun and entertaining on television to help people unwind on Monday but that is definitely not the case!
Daasi airs on HUM on Monday and ARY is showing drama serial Ishqiya. Ishqiya is more ‘popular’ among the masses but I would put both these dramas in the same category. Both the dramas involve clichéd love stories which have been executed poorly. Both these dramas have a star cast but that does not make up for the slow pace and unappealing storylines.
I tried watching both Ishqiya and Daasi. Daasi was boring right from the start and the most disappointing aspect has been Adeel Hussein’s acting and the character he chose to play. After all, this was his comeback serial, he could have done better. Ishqiya first few episodes were average but it seems to be going downhill with every passing episode.
It seems like, both these channels do not take the Monday slot too seriously and are not too keen on airing dramas with quality content. They are clearly relying more on star power than anything else.
What’s on Air on Tuesday
Mein Na Janoo was on air for more than 20 weeks on HUM and it ended recently. It is going to be replaced with Kashf which hopefully won’t be as lame and disappointing as Mein Na Janoo. Mein Na Janoo was the worst play that aired in the 8 pm slot on any of the leading channels. Even Zahid Ahmed publicly apologized for being a part of this project.
ARY airs Ruswai on Tuesday which is an issue-based drama. Although Ruswai has completely gone off track, even then it has been way better than Mein Na Janoo. Ruswai is also ending soon. It has been stretched to the limit and people are waiting for it to end.
Therefore we will soon get to watch two new dramas on both these channels on Tuesday. Kashf seems promising and will hopefully be another serial that is worth watching.
A Clear Winner on Wednesday
Well, let’s just say that there is absolutely no competition between the two dramas which air on these channels on Wednesday. On ARY we have Thora Sa Haq and on HUM we have Ye Dil Mera. While Ye Dil Mera is engaging and inventive, Thora Sa Haq is full of clichés.
Thora Sa Haq banks on the most ghisse pitay scenarios and star power. On the other hand, Ye Dil Mera has both star power and a storyline which keeps you on the edge even though the execution isn’t always perfect.
HUM is a clear winner in this slot since it provides the perfect quality entertainment which the viewers truly deserve after watching the most pathetic dramas at the start of the week.
Another Victory For HUM on Thursday
Pyar Ke Sadqay airs on HUM on Thursday and Ghalati on ARY. Once again, it would be unfair to even put these two dramas in the same category. While Ghalati is yet another rocky marriage and inconsiderate in laws story, Pyar Ke Sadqay is a light-hearted yet extremely touching drama serial.
Pyar Ke Sadqay is getting better with every passing episode. It has a quality script, a brand new on-screen couple and so much more going for it. Ghalati on the other hands banks solely on the Du Bol on-screen jodi, Saba Hameed plays the evil saas yet again and it fails miserably in providing quality entertainment. I watched it for a few weeks and gave up on it completely. It was frustrating watching someone educated and enlightened going through hell for no reason!
On the other hand, I watched Pyar Ke Sadqay only after watching the clips on social media. I wasn’t expecting much from this drama since Cheekh did not work for me at all and Pyar Ke Sadqay has been written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah too. It is currently my favorite drama mainly because of the script. HUM has proved yet again that it is completely capable of airing dramas that offer something new and attractive.
Game Show vs. An Over-Stretched Drama On Friday
ARY does not even air a drama on Friday but relies on the popularity of Jeeto Pakistan to bring in the TRPs. HUM airs Jo Tu Chahey on Friday which is another drama which has been dragged for the longest time. Most people probably are tuning into another channel or the crowd which watches the game show has that option.
Jo Tu Chahey was initially titled Kun Fayakun which resulted in a controversy and consequently, it went off air. Right now, it has lost all its appeal and most people are waiting for it to end.
So, there isn’t anything worth watching on HUM or ARY on Friday. While HUM is at least airing a drama in the time slot, ARY isn’t doing so.
Jhooti and Dil Ruba on Saturday
Dil Ruba recently aired on HUM after Deewar-e-Shab ended. Jhooti has been on air for more than 10 weeks now on ARY. Jhooti and Dil Ruba have a few things in common. Both dramas have female protagonists who are clever and manipulative. Dil Ruba so far is making more sense than Jhooti did in its initial episodes. Jhooti has turned into one of those dramas which bank wholly on the negative traits of the female protagonist. It is mostly unconvincing and annoying.
Dil Ruba’s protagonist does not have the negative streak which is usually off-putting but it is another commercial drama that may or may not deliver in the long run.
HUM Leads on Sunday
ARY doesn’t show any drama on Sunday whereas HUM was showing Ehd-e-Wafa before and Sabaat now. HUM definitely takes the weekend dramas more seriously than ARY. Ehd-e-Wafa was an entertaining and meaningful drama. Sabaat is also off to a good start.
HUM definitely has been making sure that they give the viewers something to look forward to on Sunday and therefore for the drama buffs, it definitely leads this slot.
The Verdict
HUM is clearly leading more slots than ARY. It is also evident that ARY has been more focused on getting the ratings, ticking all the boxes to attract the masses but compromising on quality as a result. HUM has also been experimenting more than ARY. Also, the fact that ARY is depending so much on a game show in the slot which is actually meant for dramas, shows that the channel doesn’t take its dramas too seriously!
There isn’t a single drama on ARY in the 8 pm slot which I personally like or look forward to. In fact making this list was an eye-opener since I did not realize just how many mediocre dramas ARY was airing during the week. Although HUM has also aired disasters like Mein Na Janoo and Daasi, it has many good dramas to its credit as well.
I really hope that ARY will give us something good to watch soon and stop using these shortcuts to get TRPs. HUM is on the right track and is a clear winner right now.

Are you ready to witness the two heartthrobs together on the big screen? If yes! Then HUM TV productions bring you the handsome Hamza Ali Abbasi and the cool hunk Osman Khalid Butt in its upcoming venture “Parwaaz hay Junoon.”
According to the sources this upcoming film is a tribute to the Pakistani air force. The director of the film is Haseeb Hassan, who has previously directed dramas like Diyar -e- dil and Mann Mayal. He will be making his debut through this project. The writer of the film is the famous Farhat Ishtiaq.
The actors are super excited for acting in the film. Osman Khalid Butt shared with the media, “Not many people know that when I was 7 or 8 years old, I was quite the daredevil,” shared Osman of his childhood. “In [amusement park] rides, most people feel nauseated, but I used to feel thrilled. I remember this family came to my sister and told her that I should be a pilot. This thing stuck with me. I still remember the face of the man who said it.”
He continued, “When I grew up, the thrill turned into romanticism, like fighting for my country and soaring through the skies. Unfortunately, due to some circumstances, I’m an actor now. I could not become a pilot but I’m very grateful to the air force, to Hum Films, to Momina Duraid and especially Haseeb Hasan who gave me this opportunity.”
Hamza also shared his views, “There are very few chances for actors or media people to do something for their own country apart from entertaining them. And I think this one is those opportunities. This film is being made for a particular institute, but I think it’s an honor and privilege to be given this chance to show the face of the air force to the world.”
“Yesterday, I was attending a Defence Day program in Multan. Many families of our martyrs were present. We read or watch their stories, but when you meet with their families, we actually feel that they are real people, people [whose sacrifices allow us] to have press conferences in luxury hotels. I’m thankful to Sultana Aapa and Momina that they gave us a chance as an actor. We will definitely put our heart and soul in it.”
For the female lead role, Momina has not shared the details yet. According to Momina they will reveal the name of heroine next month. As they want viewers to share whom they want to see with Hamza and Osman. Apart from this main cast for keeping movie near to reality cast also include individuals form Pakistan Air force. The movie is based on real events of Pakistani air force and the major portion of revenue from the movie will be donated to the Pakistani air force.
The movie is expected to release on Eid –ul-Azha in 2017.

Jafaa is an upcoming drama serial that will soon be airing on Hum TV. The show has a star-studded cast of talented Pakistani actors. It has been directed by Danish Nawaz and written by Samira Fazal. Momina Duraid has produced the drama serial.

Hum TV is considered a pioneer in special Ramadan plays. After Suno Chanda became a massive hit, we got to see many new Ramadan plays every year and sometimes two on the channel. The Ramadan plays were able to become mega hits and the stars in these dramas became sensations. An anonymous group of hackers that identify itself as “Hexlook” has hacked HUM TV’s official website & has left quite a thought provoking note on their homepage.
I know some people would take it as an immature way of tackling the situation but in my opinion, they are at least better than those who do nothing about it & show acceptance towards the boldness that Media throws at us. Even though they really have taken a #bold step but I believe it will serve some sort of a purpose at least.

Hum Tv Ratings shoot to number one on Friday followed by most views on all the drama which surpassed big Indian channels like Sony Tv, Star plus, colours, colours rishtay the weekly rating was given by starbizAsia.
The main highlights of Hum Tv was ishq Zahe naseeb which got highest views followed by jaal and Kun Fayakun, (currently the changed name)

Ishq Zahe naseeb got 54,200 views, jal got 53,200 views and kun fayakun got 30,000 views which was actually a win win situation for Pakistani channel surpassing indian channels.
On Geo tv piya naam ka dia topped with most views of 39,000 among other of its shows.

If you have watched the latest episode of ‘Humnasheen’ that went on-air this Sunday, June 9th’ 13, you must be knowing what the news is all about. The drama showed Gays making love with a blurred picture, still intimate enough to guess what the channel was trying to show. Living in a Muslim Country, the audience who watched it took a notice against this and up till now PEMRA has received a lot of complaints, asking it to take right actions against the channel, which is trying to promote unethical acts within the country (as stated in the complaints).
HUM TV, in response to the fingers pointed at it stated that the channel had no intentions of promoting vulgarity and the motive of letting such a scene going on air was to show the bitter reality of the society. It is not the first time that HUM TV landed up in this scenario, in fact it was before too that the channel was criticized for a drama called ‘Larki Chahie?’.

Hum Tv will be re-telecasting their blockbuster drama ‘Diyar-e-Dil’. The drama which ruled the trp charts and was a masterpiece in itself is all set to hit our screens once again and we couldn’t be more happier. Consisting of a stellar cast, Diyar-e-Dil first aired in 2015 and completed 33 episodes. The fast paced drama was loved by the audiences for it’s gripping story line and top notch performances.
Diyar-e-Dil portrayed Pakistan from a realistic point of view. The story highlighted the honour and obedience one practises towards their parents as well as the importance of family. It will air on Hum Tv Starting from Tonight at 10:20 PM, every Monday to Thursday.
Aangan is a period Hum TV drama that started airing in December 2018, starring Sajal Aly, Ahad Raza Mir, Mawra Hocane, Sonya Hussyn, Ahsan Khan, Abid Ali ( Late) , Shahroz Sabzwari, Hassan Noman and others. The story is inspired by Khadija Mastoor’s award-winning Partition novel. Soon after Aangan aired, Hum TV removed the drama from YouTube, and it was never re-watched by the drama buffs due to its unavailability on Digital media.

Hum TV celebrated its 8th Anniversary today by airing a show tellybrations 2013, which was hosted by many prominent stars of the industry and countless celebrities from showbiz were invited as guests who paid tribute to the channel by appreciating the quality of work that has been done by Hum TV over the years. Hum TV undoubtedly has done a tremendous job in these eight years and the star studded event was an excellent way of celebrating the special place Hum TV has made in the viewer’s heart in a very short span of time amidst all the tough competition. Hum TV also changed its logo and promises many other changes in the future too, something to look forward to by all television viewers in Pakistan and abroad. Hum TV has turned into the biggest entertainment provider of Pakistan offering its viewer the best quality of dramas consistently. As per the latest news, Eye Television Network will soon going to re-launch Hum 2 as Hum Sitara where it will going to air new serials in hope of making the channel something as big as HUM TV.
Adding new channels in their existing domain is nothing new. We hope that Hum Sitara will do better than Geo Kahani anyway and will not only target the foreign, low price content, but will meet the hopes of its local audience attached to it.
It is difficult to analyse whether it is Hum TV or ARY Digital that would take up the market this year. Both the channels are known for the quality dramas going on air through their platform and this year, both of them seems to have their strategies clear. It has been lately noticed that Hum TV has come up with some great dramas that are expected to enjoy a good business and ratings like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Humnasheen, Tanhai, etc, while on the other hand, its ARY trying real hard to maintain its pace with serials like Silvatien, Siskiyaan and Parchaiyaan. It is interesting to find that in this race of winning TRPs, Geo TV and Express entertainment seems no more interested and have decided to follow their own path.
2012 has recently come to an end, leaving the drama industry with some golden stars and again much of them belong to the two channels stated above. Now that people have started loving their own dramas in Pakistan, the channels and production houses are coming up with dramas that let people link to them. Taking a closer look of the strategy been adopted by ARY and HUM TV this year, it can be seen that both of them are all set to come up with reality shows, highlighting the talent of Pakistan. ARY, which has always been coming up with such shows like Nach Baliye, madventures and if not local, then the neighboring Big Boss has now again introduced the star talent hunt show, similar to that of Indian Idol, while Hum TV has also got the Indian reality dance shows to keep your weekends occupied. Moreover, Hum TV’s new efforts of paying a tribute to its hits of last year, Hum TV Awards are again one of the opportunities to bring more popularity to the channel.
It was seen few months back that the foreign content, namely the Turkish Dramas kept the showbiz industry busy with controversies against few channels. Many programs were conducted where the Pakistani Celebrities condemn the channels for promoting foreign content, leaving the rights and interests of the local artists, neglected. However, it seems like just like the common citizens of the nation, the Celebrities of this country has no say in their domain as the Turkish Dramas are still on air on Geo, It was only Noor previously, but the next Turkish Drama to go on air is leaked through its promo and is known under the label Rafta Rafta. Although Geo is also offering local dramas like Viraasat, Ghao, Cindrella, etc, the channel has lost its charm in general.
Coming back the two channels that are high in the viewers choice, Hum and ARY are more or less following the same line where same actors are seen on both of the channels. 2013 can be predicted as a lucky year for Adeel Hussain, Azfer Rehman, Ayesha Omer, Ayza Khan, Sajjal and Adnan Siddiqui as all of these actors are seen in every next project going on air either on Hum TV or ARY-Good Enough!

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) imposed a fine of Rs1 million on Hum TV for airing ‘objectionable content’.
The leading entertainment channel aired an episode titled ‘Chewing Gum’ for its drama series ‘Kitni Girhain Baqi Hain’ having objectionable and indecent content on January 29.
Due to the violation of Pemra clause, Hum TV has been fined Rs. 1 million, which is to be paid within 3 weeks of its issuance. PEMRA warned the channel to be careful while selecting the themes for its content and to consider the values and social norms of Pakistan.
