Five Pakistani films will be screened at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Film Festival in Qingdao, China.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Parchi, Bin Roye and Chalay Thay Saath will be showcased at the first SCO Film Festival which opened in east China’s Shandong Province on Wednesday.

According to sources in the Pakistani Embassy, Sultana Sidddiqui is among the panel consisting of members from each SCO member and observer country to select winners.

The festival will run for five days from June 13 to June 17 and will screen 55 movies from 12 countries, and hold more than 30 themed activities.

Wang Xiaohui, Executive Vice Minister of Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee and Head of State Film Administration of China, welcomed delegations from SCO member and observer states.

He termed the film festival an important cultural exchange event which shall enhance the people to people contacts between the SCO member states and shall help in building the community.

Xiaohui further said that China which produces over 700 films annually and has more than 55,000 cinema screens is one of the largest film industries worldwide.

China is willing to share its expertise with the film industries of SCO member states, he added.

The film festival is co-hosted by the State Film Administration and Shandong provincial government.

Fans said that the end was completely messed up, only the first ten episodes were lit. The drama was carved by Hamza and Mehmal who were no where in the end.

Fan said that this was the most overrated drama but eventually it garnered views. They said that they watched it for Wahaj Ali otherwise could have not wasted time. A few fans said that they wanted to see more of a romantic plot between Dilnasheen and Haider. They loved ending but their normal scenes were less in the drama. Drama serial Fitna is a Hum Television Network’s famous soap serial which aired daily at 7:00 Pm. The drama is written by Seema Sheikh. It is directed by Haseeb Ali. The drama was produced by Momina Duraid. The cast of the drama features Sukaina Khan, Omer Shahzad, Shuja Asad, Maria Malik, Daniyal Afzal, Seema Sheikh and Haseeb Ali.

Today, the last episode of the drama serial Fitna aired on Hum TV. Fans didn’t like the ending of the drama. They are angry at the writer and director for showing an unexpected and unsatisfactory ending.

Viewers are of the view that Huda and Shaheer deserved to be with each other. They are also questioning Huda for marrying Azmir. Fans are of the view that Huda lacks self respect and that’s why she chose a person like Azmir. One fan wrote, “it is extremely bad ending, they have shown all the injustices with the one family, Shaheer deserved happiness”. They also criticized the abrupt ending of the drama. The much awaited sequel of Karachi Se Lahore , “Lahore se Agey” is under production. The film is a Pakistani road-comedy directed and produced by Wajahat Rauf and is written by Yasir Hussain. The film will be starring Saba Qamar and Yasir Hussain in the lead roles. The film is scheduled for release on November 11, 2016 under the production banner of Showcase Productions.

Lately the first Video song of the film “Kalabaaz” is released. The song is featuring Saba Qamar , Yasir Hussain and Atiqa Odho. The song looks quite similar to the Bollywood number “Ghaagra” from the film “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.” The set, costumes and main idea are quite close to that Indian song.

No matter how hard we try not to discuss about the foreign content and the controversial realities attached to it, the idea is turning into a giant monster which is haunting the local drama-makers and now the filmmakers are not exempted here.

Turkish dramas have been airing with their urdu dubbing been done and from Ishq-e-Mamnu to Fatima Gul, have gathered quite an audience so far. Now that we see our film industry flourishing with the improved efforts made by celebrities and organizers, Turkish films will now be coming to Pakistan to add in the competition which our movies have to face from Indian and Hollywood movies. Turkish movie, ‘Ask Tesadüfleri Sever’, translated as Mohabbat ek Itefaq in Urdu will soon be making its way to the Pakistani cinemas. It is interesting that the especially dubbed movie will also hit the Indian and Bangladeshi cinemas soon.

Been released in in February 2011, the movie earned a huge business of 50 million USD and is one of the highest grossing Turkish films, with a first weekend hit of 1,779,485 USD, of the year and investors hope that the movie will now add up into the revenue with its global launch in different language.

The story of the movie revolves around the life of a famous actress who is into a strong relationship but the family of her love does not approve her profession at all. She then meets a photographer during one of her shoots who falls for her and that is the point where the trio love angle starts.

The upcoming project is a result of the mutual efforts of Pakistani production team-Sohail Productions and will be releasing in Pakistan this Eid-ul-Azha. There are 18 targeted cinemas in Pakistan which will support the Turkish movie that are mainly located in Karachi,Lahore and Rawalpindi.

The movie is half way done with its translation and voice recording and it is expected to see its promos releasing not only on E-media but in newspapers too.

It is yet difficult for me to judge this move because the idea would be facilitating the cinema houses anyway but it still creates a question about how will our local industry survive in the given circumstances! The release of Chennai Express ate up all the good for the Pakistani releases on Eid as it is, and now that this Turkish movie will release on coming Eid too, it is more like a threat to other expected Pakistani movies been scheduled to release on the occasion.

Turkish film ‘Mohabbat Ek Ittefaq’ has recently received the censor certificate from federal censor board. Preparation for its nationwide release are underway, and 17th January 2014 is announced as release date. Dubbed in Urdu it will be the first Turkish film ever to be released in Pakistan. While Turkish dramas are ruling the television screen and enjoy huge viewership, its still early to predict how cinema goers will respond to this new experiment of Turkish film in cinemas. Express media house is the official media group to promote this film.

It will be an interesting fact for readers that it is not the first time that a film from a country with majority Muslim population is releasing in Pakistan. Previously few Egyptian Arabic films have been released in Paksitan like Abida in 1990’s which were not much successful.

About Mohabbat Ek Ittifaq

The film, Mohabbat Ek Ittifaq, is the Turkish blockbuster Ask Tesadulfleri Sever, which grossed over $50 million when it was released in Turkey in 2011. The film is being imported to Pakistan by Kayzee Enterprises, and has also been dubbed locally. The importers also own the rights to releasing the same version in Bangladesh and India.

The film is directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak, starring Mehmet Günsür and Belçim Bilgin Erdoğan as star crossed lovers whose lives are intertwined by a series of coincidence. The film was shot on location in Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey.

Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir’s upcoming and the most anticipated project is “Dhoop Ki Deewar” which is a web series for Zee5. According to initial information, it is going to be a story of love across the borders. And like real life the characters will be sharing a love-hate relationship. Ahad Raza Mir will be playing the character of an Indian boy Vishal, whereas; Sajal will be seen playing double roles and one of her character’s names would be Sara. Other cast members include Manzar Sahebi, Samina Ahmed, Sawera Nadeem, Zoya Nasir, Raza Talish, Zeb Rehman, and more.

The web series will be released soon and the first trailer of “Dhoop Ki Deewar” is out now. The trailer has given away much of the storyline. Both Sara and Vishal’s fathers will be army officers of the respective countries and shot dead in an exchange for firing on the borders. Sharing the same grief Sara and Vishal will come close to each other and that’s how the story will proceed further.

People are absolutely in love with the trailer of Dhoop Ki Deewar and can’t wait to see the whole series that will be out on the 25th of June.

Dhoop ki Dewaar, consists of an ensemble cast including Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir. Dhoop ki Dewaar is written by the phenomenal writer, Umera Ahmed.
