Suno Chanda Episode 1 to 5 Review – Thoroughly Entertaining

Written By: Saima Akram Chaudhry
Directed By: Aehsun Talish
Produced By: MD Productions

Suno Chanda is delightful, entertaining and gripping Ramazan special show. The overall concept of the show is somewhat like Aangan but unlike Aangan, it doesn’t have any underlying messages so far and is pure entertainment. Also, unlike Aangan, all the characters are not equally appealing but the main protagonists Jiya and Arsal are the main attraction of the show. Their track and relationship gives this comedy serial a definite edge. Iqra Aziz and Farhan Saeed’s on-screen chemistry and their performances are the highlight of every episode. The witty and humorous script makes it a must-watch. Apart from the unnecessary thappars which seem completely out of place and are in bad taste, everything else about this show is picture perfect. The fact that Arsal and Jiya get a lot of screen time in every episode also makes the show more interesting. The pace of this drama is perfect and even though it airs daily, it still entertains. Jiya and Arsal’s nok/jhok and relationship has been penned down and executed brilliantly.

Suno Chanda is the story of a joint family – 2 brothers, their wives and children and their sister and brother in law who are very involved in everything which happens in the house. Jiya and Arsal were forced into a nikkah by their grandfather before he passed away and now even though they are poles apart and cannot stand each other, they are going to get formally married really soon. The pace of these first 5 episodes couldn’t have been better. These episodes focused entirely on highlighting the reasons why Jiya and Arsal cannot stand each other and how desperately they are constantly trying to ensure that this marriage doesn’t take place. Some of the situations aren’t always convincing but then this isn’t the kind of show that should be over analyzed.

Suno Chanda Episode 1 to 5 Review - Thoroughly Entertaining

Bi Jaan (Samina Ahmed) is the head of this household and Agha Ji (Syed Muhammad Ahmed) is her dead husband’s brother and also someone she was romantically involved with beofre getting married. Samina Ahmed and Muhammad Ahmed both are remarkable actors and it is a delight watching them performing these roles. There are plenty of situations in the drama in which the comic element takes the lead even when there is a history and emotions attached to a certain situation. Right now Agha Ji’s son seems like the perfect match for Jiya and Kinza could be the ideal partner for Arsal but it is also highly likely that at some point Arsal and Jiya’s feelings for each other will completely change. Arsal and Jiya are constantly shown plotting and planning to get each other in trouble basically to make sure that they don’t get married. Some of these plans are funny, others are just plain cruel and few of them totally backfire. Arsal’s latest adventure was one such plan which backfired. The recent episode turned the story around because for the first time Arsal might have a reason to feel guilty although right now he is wrongfully blaming Jiya for whatever happened. DJ’s character is hilarious, the child star Sami playing the role has nailed his character. He is a natural, who always enjoys and does justice to every role assigned to him, I am very impressed by his acting.

Suno Chanda is a nice break from all those comic drama serials which rely heavily on cheap comedy. It is witty, hilarious, involving and definitely a must watch!

The Not So Often Of Pakistani Dramas!

0

After the Oh so often, there has to be a NOT SO OFTEN! And here it is. From character shamming the leading lady to zaalim susrals, we get these sequences like in every second drama we watch. But here are some sequences which made our days in one way or the other. Some points we would like to see getting along more often. Let’s start with some not so oftens of Pakistani dramas:

No Muafi:

Forgiveness is a part of our faith. It is indeed a very important thing and is taught to us from the very beginning of our lives. Be it parents, teachers, entertainment or general curriculum, we are always taught to forgive the ones who have wronged us. This concept is used again and again in our dramas too. There is always a heroine who is crushed and humiliated by 5000 people and what does she do? She FORGIVES! I know this sounds poetic and is a good thing to preach but it is not very relatable all the time. There are times when forgiveness by our heroine ruins the whole drama. Dil e Muzter is an example where Sila forgiving Adil literally ruined the whole ending. People who do wrong should be punished a little. All the time muafi is not something viewers look forward to. Maat is a drama where no muafi at the end made my year, yes not day, the whole year. Amina Sheikh’s Sheh Maat showed how the real world works. A human cannot be a fairy godmother who keeps forgiving for no reason at all. Maat’s ending was a strong not so often of Pakistani dramas and the scene is something that can be watched thousands of times.

The Not So Often Of Pakistani Dramas!

A Jerk Is A Jerk Even If Handsome:

Another concept of Pakistani dramas is that you can get away with literally anything if you are a gora chitta malai boti jaisa boy. And the girl will keep following you like a pet because your beauty has hindered her common sense and self-respect. In every second drama, we see a handsome actor is cast and the whole drama his character wander around misbehaving with every human being and every piece of furniture for no reason at all. But we saw a scene which does not happen often in our dramas and this was when an average looking Kashaf showed a handsome Zaroon his real face. Zindagi Gulzar Hai talked about women empowerment and the power of education but one sequence which will always be remembered is that girls have other things to do in life than keep swooning after a boy with zero manners. It showed that people are actually judged on their deeds and not on their looks even if they think of themselves as some kind of Greek gods.

The Not So Often Of Pakistani Dramas!

Abuse Is Not Acceptable:

We have a hero who will slap the heroine, emotionally abuse her and things will still become normal in the last episode. Unfortunately, in many dramas, this is shown as a very normal practice and is not even mentioned to be a crime. Kankar, however, came out as a drama with many sequences redeeming the practice totally unacceptable. Sanam Baloch portrayed the girl who fights against domestic abuse to perfection and from standing up against an abusive husband to fighting for herself with her parents, the drama had countless sequences which are not shown often in our dramas and should be portrayed more. Its high time we stop showing masculinity in the power of a slap.

The Not So Often Of Pakistani Dramas!

Imtiaz Is In Our Own Homes:

Countless dramas are coming out about the topic of abuse but what started this all and is still the best in all regards is Udaari. Udaari is a drama which talked about the untalked. It started the debate and is the pioneer in every sense in bringing society’s attention to this topic and making them talk about it openly. The other thing which was openly shown was that Imtiaz is always someone near you. He is the one you trust the most. Hats off to Ahsan Khan for taking up this role and showing people that wolves reside behind innocent faces. After Udaari we saw many more dramas which showed that how people near to you can rip your life apart in the most heinous way.

The Not So Often Of Pakistani Dramas!

Maulvis Are Not Always Extremist:

Maulvis are shown as some hell-bent creatures in our dramas. They make their women wear abayas forcefully and try to force Islam on people. But then Pyaare Afzal came out with Maulvi SubhanAllah and he indeed made me say SubhanAllah. He was a man of religion, an imam masjid who adored his wife, loved his daughter and cared deeply for his son. He was soft natured and brought coconut wale biscuits for a girl whom his son “LOVED”, yes loved, and he was not against his son loving a girl. A character we never see on our screens. Hopefully, the dramas will come out with more characters like that who represent the true essence of Islam and show how beautiful and peaceful Islam really is.

The Not So Often Of Pakistani Dramas!

These are some sequences we do not often see in our dramas. Any more which come to your mind? Share in the comments!

PIA Invites Royal Couple To Visit Pakistan’s Northern Areas

Ever since this weekend the royal wedding and the royal couple is all over the news. Just in Pakistan International Airlines has offered the Duke of Sussex Harry and the Duchess of Sussex Meghan to visit Pakistan.

PIA Invites Royal Couple To Visit Pakistan's Northern Areas

The national carrier took to Twitter to post a picture of Princess Diana during her visit to the northern areas and requested the royal couple who tied the knot on Saturday to visit as well.

“We watched the #RoyalWeddding & remembered #PrincessDiana & her trip to the northern areas of Pakistan, & we thought how wonderful it would be for the newly weds to visit our northern splendours as well! So #PrinceHarry & #PrincessMeghan, we are ready, just let us know when! #PIA”

Twitteratis had mixed feelings about this invitation while some appreciated the gesture others suggested that if the royal couple chooses to visit Pakistan they should rather choose any other airline.

Ishq Tamasha Episode 12 Review-Slow!

This episode of Ishq Tamasha was very slow and the story moved with smooth pace. The focus was more on the relationship between Mehrab and Arham. Mehrab loves Arham to an unnatural extent. He has always done everything in his power to get Arham what he wants. He even got caught up in this whole scenario because of him. All these things combined have made Arham a stubborn human. He cares just for himself and his desires and has no regard for his brother’s love. Their phupo is a mysterious character up till now. It is not clear whether she is good or evil. But she cares for the brothers and Arham has no respect for her either. His obsession with Rushna has reached an unhealthy level where he does not care about his family or his self-respect.

One thing I am liking in Ishq Tamasha is the chachi’s attitude. It is very relatable and true. One of her daughters called a stranger for Rishta and she did not question her. The other is romantically interested in her cousin at such a young age and she does not care to check on her. But the same woman threw out a young girl out of her house at night. Reason; she was not her own daughter. This hypocrisy is very common in our society. If we are doing something, it is right but we will crush any other even if there is a doubt that he or she is doing it.

Ishq Tamasha Episode 12 Review-Slow!

Mehrab is badly stuck, all thanks to his brother. Arham is making him do things he would never even think of doing and is still unhappy. From some stranger girl’s home to jail, Arham has made Mehrab wander around the whole city. The activities these brothers use for taking out frustration look really funny though. One goes out to do some teenage one-wheeling stuff and one starts gyming. At least Arham’s stupid activities are making Mehrab concentrate on his health.

Wahaj now knows about the situation and will be home in the next episode. He seems like a person who will not trust Mirha. And Rushna will finally know that she has fallen for the future Jeth jee in place of the future husband. Let’s see how things work out!

Noor ul Ain Episode 15 – Review!

Ohkay so, this episode of Noor ul Ain was somewhat better, no I haven’t warmed up to the characters, nor do I think that Noor’s ordeals were shown convincingly but I felt that the execution of this episode was better plus for the first time in weeks, I didn’t have a hard time watching this episode, or may be because I watched this episode in 3 intervals, I didn’t find it too boring!

Well, like I said, Noman’s sister is going out with this guy who doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to marry her. This entire scenario has only been added to justify whatever Noor did because this way Noman’s mother will get a reality check that all this while she was judging someone else’s daughter, her own was dating this guy & planning to marry him. Noman’s mother is another boring & one-dimensional character, plus now that she knows that no one in the family is paying heed to what she is saying, she should just forget everything & be happy for Noman. I totally see her torturing Sofie in the future, which I feel is going to be another boring scenario of this drama!

Well, I don’t know why those who state the obvious & the truth are shown to be the villains in this drama. Mahrukh is shown to be the negative character where she is maligning Noor’s heart against Khizar but in all honesty, I found her totally right & felt that she was telling Noor the truth. I just don’t really understand why Noor tells everything to Mahrukh when she can’t handle her honesty & her opinions? Noor airs her dirty laundry herself & then disses those who pass judgments on it? This should serve Noor a good lesson that she should then keep her things to herself when she can’t handle the truth. Ghazala who also spoke about Noor was shown as a villain. Bhai is drama mai sabbb hi buray hain siwaye Noor ke!

Khizar is turning out to be a disappointment day after day & Noor is having a hard time with him but he just doesn’t understand. It is funny that the wealth that Khizar left without even thinking about for a second has left him so blinded that he is reminded of his old lifestyle every other day. Fine, Khizar is like that, but then what is Noor doing to motivate him? Yes, I get it, Noor working to provide for herself & Khizar should be enough reason for him to do something on his own but then the way Noor keeps things from him just doesn’t help the situation either. Noor should discuss everything with her husband based on how she says that she trusts him the most plus from what I have seen, Khizar’s immaturity aside, he makes sure to always ask her to tell him everything but Noor just keeps it to herself? Unnecessarily!

Anyways, Noor herself left her family for Khizar so she should stop being so salty about every little thing related to them because she herself announced that she doesn’t have anything to do with them. Plus, if she is missing her family so much, she can always break the ice, take the initiative & go to her home to see them all. Please share your thoughts.

Khamoshi Episode 33 Review-Star Plus Vibes!

We are all familiar with the star plus vibe. It is when there is something meant to happen but it takes 2000 episodes to happen. Same is the case with Shahram and Zubiya’s engagement. The venue has changed about 5 times now and we are still on the way to the much-awaited engagement. Well, that is not the highlight since it is a must for Khamoshi, yes dragging.

The worst thing today was Naima’s extreme behaviour. It was so unrelatable even for Naima’s character. We have seen Naima as a pawn of the devil for 33 episodes now. We know she is a bad person. incapable of good. But why on earth was she behaving like that with Atif? The whole demeanour which she adopted from the invitation to the ceremony looked less evil and more childish. Her reaction towards Shahram was also absurd. Like do you not remember what you did to him and your sister? She was just focused on Baray Logon Ka Function!

Khamoshi Episode 33 Review-Star Plus Vibes!

Shahram’s assistant is also fed up now. I just loved his presence in today’s episode. He just plainly said ke itna bhi selfless nahin hona chahiye. He even went on to explain to Shahram that how life works and that you have to work to get your happiness. But Shahram is still fixated on begging Arsala every chance he gets. Now he was begging her to attend his engagement. His only goal in life is to get insulted by Arsala and still keep helping her and her stupid family.

Bee Jaan’s track has deteriorated to an annoying level now. Why on earth has Shahram not tried to call her? Bee Jaan lives in 2018 and can naturally use the phone. She owned one before Nasreen took it. According to Nasreen and Basit’s story, Bee Jaan is in Saudi Arabia so she should be carrying a phone which Shahram can call. Parr Arsala hi bhai ko sukoon nahin aane de rahi.

I hope Arsala gets the top position in 2018’s worst characters. She just keeps whining, is annoying and spineless, has no self-respect and wears that so not good looking pink lipstick all the time.

I hope Bee Jaan’s track gets wrapped up in the next one at least because the shooting has ended for Khamoshi!

Pukaar Episode 15 & 16 – Review!

Ohkay so, I am glad that the double episodes of shows like Pukaar are being aired because it not only speeds up the pace but also shows some progress in the story. I enjoyed watching these episodes of Pukaar because I felt things moved forward, which was something totally needed!

I liked Sarang’s character a lot. It is good that in such a grim scenario, there is someone who believes in making things light-hearted. Even though on the surface everything that Sarang did for Samra was because he wanted to change the impression she had of him but in reality, it was because he had a soft spot for her even before meeting her in person because he heard from Samra’s mom about everything that she was going through. Sarang has a lot of sympathy for Samra & it is good that someone who has some power & authority believes in doing something for her!

Sarang’s mother wasn’t too happy or satisfied with whatever Sarang was being put through but other than that, I didn’t see much of her role but the overall equation she & Sarang share is quite nice too.

Sarang is learning more & more about the new lifestyle & all the expectations that Sultan has from him. I feel another reason why Sarang wants to connect to Samra is because he finds there’s quite a lot that is common between them as she comes from Karachi too & she is just as alien to all these scenarios as Sarang himself is. I liked their interactions as well.

I found that scene totally unnecessary where Laali slapped Samra only because she ran to hug her mother. Also, what’s weird was that no one even bothered saying anything to her & everyone got back to their normal routine as if nothing happened. Anyways, good that Samra got a little introduction to the fact that Sarang was going to do what he pleases & won’t really bother about what the rest of the people want. That entire scene was silly that no one wanted Samra’s mother to be a part of her baby shower? & also that Zamani felt the need to part Samra from her mother when they both hugged each other!

I feel the flashbacks really have been pushed too far & the entire slow-mo has been unnecessarily relied upon, like there are so many scenes that just get to me & I can’t wait for them to get over quickly because of the repetition & slowness. I must also say, the amount of whitewash that has been used on everyone’s face is ridiculous. I feel if they were really after such fair skin look then they should have hired those actors who are naturally fair because it is too obvious that a lot of unnecessary effort has been put into making everyone look fair. Saba Faisal who has a beautiful complexion has been whitewashed to such an extent that her mouth area looked green. Zahid Ahmed has been whitewashed so ridiculously that his natural dusky complexion peeked through his collar where the foundation wasn’t applied on his neck. Jia Ali looks unflattering & way too ashy & what’s worst is that her face & neck do not match either. Also, everyone’s hands look way too dark in comparison to their unnecessarily whitewashed faces that they all look like a joke. The orange eyeshadow used on Zahid Ahmed is pretty bad too. The makeup artists of this drama should be fired for such a bad job. Anyways, Yumna Zaidi looked pretty in the minimal makeup during baby shower scene. Please share your thoughts.

Its “We Too” After “Me Too”!

The world was shaken after many of the A-list celebrities came out with accusations of sexual harassment against a renowned producer. Since then many cases have come out at different places with many women voicing their stories. The movement reached Pakistan when Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment. Both the stars are engaged in a legal battle right now. A male model Mujahid took to Instagram as he also has spoken about facing similar issues while using the hashtags me too and we too. He explained how male models are also facing the same dilemma. This is his post as he explained the whole situation clearly:

Its "We Too" After "Me Too"!

Its "We Too" After "Me Too"!

Its "We Too" After "Me Too"!

Its "We Too" After "Me Too"!

After Mujahid came out with his story, Meesha Shafi also asked her friends from the designer community that if this is the reason for them not supporting her at this time:

Its "We Too" After "Me Too"!

We hope we as a nation can get to a point where we can stop this practice and empower the victims!

Zun Mureed Episode 12 Review – Poignant & Perfect

Tonight’s episode of Zun Mureed was emotional, powerful and the messages it delivered were right on point as usual. The shift in Tabbsum’s character was poignant as well as convincing. Tabbasum lost the job she was relying on, she feels that she hasn’t done a great job raising her son because she is being made to feel that way and most importantly she just met a woman who was unable to leave her abusive husband even though she was financially stable and educated. This change in Tabbasum’s character makes her more relatable than ever, I have always liked the “human” element in her character. She is a strong woman but she is also sensitive. Unlike her husband, she is constantly reflecting upon her situation and she is not afraid to admit when she feels she has gone wrong somewhere. Her sister kept on reminding her why she took this step in the first place but for now it looks like Tabbasum made a decision simply because she is “tired”. Will Sajjad’s cold behaviour give her energy to go on? Will it remind her why she took this step and why she needs to continue? Meeting Sidra didn’t help Tabbasum in any way perhaps because their meeting ended abruptly and Tabbasum made certain conclusions from the little information she got from Sidra. The fact that Tabbasum admitted that she was “tired” was enough to justify what she was about to do.

All the developments in tonight’s episode were covered perfectly, this was one of the best episodes of Zun Mureed because it covered so much in such a short time. From Bi Jaan’s sick mindset to Maryam’s controlling tactics – the writer, the director and the actors involved translated each scenario impeccably on screen! All these people are mentally sick in their own way. Sajjad’s reaction to this latest development was the highlight of this episode since it showed a side of this man which hasn’t been shown before. Sajjad is actually a coward who cannot forgive his wife for being so brave! He is scared of Tabbasum and what she can do and his rudeness seems to be his defence mechanism! The message here is loud and clear – there is nothing normal about hitting women and men who hit their wives are like Sajjad and Jamil! The mindset of such men has been shown impressively, they feel threatened by women for no reason and do whatever they can to assure themselves that they are in control. Sajjad’s attitude before and even when he met Tabbasum went to show that he was not going to be flexible since he had convinced himself that his wife was a stubborn and unreasonable woman.

Zun Mureed Episode 12 Review - Poignant & PerfectThe point regarding how women who back out in such situations are often judged was also very true and important. Basically, no matter what Tabbasum does next, she will be judged and she will have to suffer the consequences in some way or the other. While Tabbasum seems willing to show some flexibility because of her kids, Sajjad has never once thought about his children in that way. Sajjad only wants to be forgiven right now, he doesn’t care much about anything else.  Maryam also made it clear number of times tonight that Tabbasum was not going to come back to the house therefore the sole purpose of this entire exercise is to make sure that Sajjad is safe. Bi Jaan wants Tabbasum dead simply because that thought gives her something to be happy about! Shamim Hilali and Hina Bayat’s expressions in this scene were brilliant. Their expressions clearly showed how differently they wanted to hurt Tabbasum. While Maryam wants Tabbasum to live to regret her decision, Bi Jaan’s negativity has no end. Omair Rana and Khalid Anum’s performances have been outstanding throughout.

I absolutely loved this latest episode of Zun Mureed and it ended on a perfect note too.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Khasara Episode 7 Review – Below Average!

Ohkay so, another week, another average episode of Khasara. I for once do not understand the unnecessary focus, did I say unnecessary, focus on Sila’s beauty because I really rub my eyes, blink hard but still fail to see what they want me to!

Sila has not only succeeded in having Mohtasim’s sights on her but it seems Linta’s unmarried cousin who was hopelessly in love with her just a couple of episodes ago also started picturing himself with Sila, despite knowing that she is a mum of 2. It was funny that Sila turned out to be the reason why that cousin got excited for moving back to Pakistan? Desperate alert!

Mohtasim started playing mind games with Linta only to have her appoint Moanis as his secretary, so that he can keep his sights on Sila & often meet her as she seems to mindlessly open the doors of her home for him. Linta despite having issues agreed because she could see that her husband was so-called struggling with the work load. I must say I couldn’t really believe that Mohtasim, after being caught with Arzoo at her place was still casually taking her name in front of his wife, that she shouldn’t have fired her in haste? Matlab dhitai to khatam hai in pe! & what was even more bizarre was that Linta didn’t seem to mind at all?

Ahzar happened be another predator who tried his luck on Sila, the beauty queen!?!?!?!?! Moanis’ reaction was natural & justified, he served Azhar what he deserved but I was shocked seeing Sila’s calm after going through something so disgusting. Yes, she was upset but she bounced back pretty quickly & went back to being her usual, normal, stupid self & she was once again being chummy with Mohtasim, the guy who has already held her hand indecently once or may be twice. At least they should have shown that Sila grew a little uncomfortable around men after what just happened. The way Azhar treated Sila, it should have come as such a huge shock for her to at least take some time to recover but it looked like she forgot all about it the next day.

Sila’s rants & incessant nagging about wanting a better lifestyle has become monotonous to the point of being annoying. Also, the dialogues coming from Sila suggested that she wouldn’t mind playing with the fire as she might then name it as something she did out of curiosity for it. Areeba said the right thing, Sila is lucky to have a husband like Moanis but she wouldn’t understand, obviously Areeba does because she has to deal with a loser like Azhar who is good for nothing but has a huge ego!

I must say, the way these ladies rub their husband’s egoes is weird. Areeba continues to blame herself for not being able to have a child while completely ignoring the fact that her husband is not an ideal man to have a child with because he won’t change even after becoming a father. Simiarly, Linta thinks being overly affectionate to the point of being clingy to Mohtasim will keep him away from cheating on her whereas she doesn’t know that he has moved on from Arzoo pretty quickly & is now stuck at Sila. Very average story & the characters are below average! Please share your thoughts.

Haara Dil Episode 6 Review — Establishing Order

Last two episodes of Haara Dil have been very chaotic, life as known by our characters has gone upside down. As our characters lurk through this unknown territory that their life has become, in this episode, each one of them seeks to establish some sort of order in this chaotic universe and tries to look for ways to make things normal again.

So far the pace has been amazing, we have witnessed so much in the span of just six episodes that it feels like we have been a part of this Haara Dil Universe for a long long time which, I believe, is a win win for the whole team. There were some strong performances again starting with Rabya Kulsoom as Abeer. Abeer’s character development has been one of my favorite so far. She was portrayed as a jolly, hot headed yet immature baby sister character of the lead role Momina in the beginning but she has now grown into a wise woman. Call it the wisdom acquired by ‘gardish e dauran’ but seeing her spread wisdom to her already wise elder sister Momina is very reassuring. She is still very hot headed though.

Momina on the other hand has gone from a level headed person to someone whose better judgement has been clouded by emotions. She struggles to establish a balance between her kind nature and her need to stay true to her mother’s memory by becoming distant and callous to everyone who caused her mother harm. She finds herself in love with Arham but is unable to oversee the fact that he is Amtul’s son; the woman who is the cause of all this misery according to Momina. Naturally Arham and Momina’s love life is in turbulence right now.

Talking of some powerful scenes and quotes we finally see Afaan talk some sense into Amtul. He directly calls her out on how psychotic her obsession with destroying the people she dislikes is. And finally asks her ‘ke bhai masla kya hai tumhein Abrar ki family se?’ That was a heartfelt conversation they had especially when Afaan points out that she is the reason why nobody’s happy, if only she could be happy for her son and in general for everyone no one will be in this much agony. Even though she didn’t say anything in return her expressions looked like she actually agreed a bit with her husband for once.

Haara Dil Episode 6 Review --- Establishing Order

Arham said which, I believe, was the strongest quote of today’s episode. Amtul keeps yapping about family honor and respect and what not, as usual, and Arham says “Jis izat ki apko itni parwa hai wohi izat kabhi kabhi dusron ko bhi de dia karein”. As for Arham we see him fighting both his family (his mother) and Momina to keep this relationship from breaking.

On Abrar’s front the baby is named Sami and we get to see more of Zeba Behen who is the friendly neighbor and was very good friends with Shagufta. Abrar is struggling with his newly gained status of  ‘single dad’ and constantly needs Zeba’s help to take care of his son since both of his daughters refuse to accept Sami as their responsibility or brother. Zeba does seem like someone who genuinely cares about this family but in doing so she causes more tension between Abrar and his daughters.

In new developments we are introduced to Fehmi who is a nurse and Zeba’s old friend and possibly the woman Abrar will marry in the coming episodes. Fehmi is a single very lively character assayed by Javeriya Abassi. By the end of the episode Zeba suggests that Abrar should get married because his son needs a mother and that is overheard by Momina who is naturally shell shocked by the idea.

Abeer tries to talk Momina into marrying Arham as soon as possible through out the episode because according to her the only thing their father cares about now is his son and they both need to secure their future one way or another. Abrar on the other hand is disappointed by how cold his daughters have become. Arham yearns to establish the lost connection with Momina and we can see that his patience is running thin.

The drama is about to tackle another taboo, old age marriage and second marriage and we are anxiously waiting for how it does so.

How did you find this episode of Haara Dil? Yay or Nay or Yanny (pun totally intended)?

Bela Pur Ki Dayan Episode 14 Review – Interesting Developments

Bela Pur Ki Dayan never disappoints because every episode offers something new and interesting. Even though a great deal was covered in this episode but there is still so much more which has to be revealed. The script, its execution and some of the performances in particular continue to be the highlight of every episode. The Dayan continues to be the most frighteningly appealing part of this drama which is definitely the number one reason why this drama is different from all the other horror/mystery shows we have seen so far. The characters and their stories have been presented in an intriguing manner as well but a single horror scene has more impact than everything else.

This was one of my favorite episodes of Bela Pur Ki Dayan because it didn’t only focus on the past but took the story forward in the present day too. The past story was shown from Aziz’s perspective yet again and there were times when I couldn’t help questioning his version of the story. Was his mother really so overburdened because of Neelo and her family or was Aziz looking at things from his own perspective? When Neelo was shown thinking about the past, her relationship with Aziz’s mother suggested something entirely different. The viewers also found out today that Aziz’s mother is buried in the backyard which could also be the reason why this house is haunted. It remains to be seen if Aziz really is as big of a victim as he claims to be. Rehmat’s story makes more sense right now and I am waiting to see more of him.

Bela Pur Ki Dayan Episode 14 Review - Interesting Developments

The fact that Neelo isn’t “eager” to meet Shakir makes this entire scenario more interesting and gives the viewers something to look forward to. Shakir never had any children and his wife died in an accident, a development which makes you wonder if Neelo had something to do with it! It was great watching Tasha’s mother finally doing something tangible to help her daughter. Tasha has to fight Neelo herself by being strong but right now it looks like Tasha is no match for Neelo. Gainda is out of the picture once again although he was bent on getting rid of the Dayan before and the viewers weren’t really shown why he is no longer as interested in fighting this demon as he was before. His involvement was an important and exciting part of the story.

Alia’s insecurities made perfect sense and therefore were easy to relate to. Rameez continues to play an important role in the story and I am glad he got plenty of screen time in this episode. Tasha too finally seems to be more aware of what Neelo is capable of and therefore her role in the story has intensified. All the characters have opened up more in the past few episodes and this character development has been quite convincing since the story was not rushed at any point.

This episode was engrossing and intriguing. I love the pace of this show and even though there are times when you feel that some of the characters don’t get as much time as they should, every episode takes the story forward considerably. When will the actual truth come out? And will Neelo ever rest in peace? I am waiting to find out!

How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

Visaal Episode 8 Review – Interesting!

Ohkay so, this episode of Visaal revolved around Naheed’s marriage & Pari’s continued suffering. This drama is very likeable, though simple but the team of Visaal has shown how simple dramas if done well, work well too. Things have become pretty intense, so let’s see how the story will unfold!

Naheed tried to convince Pari that she should attend her wedding but even though Shabbir gave her the permission, Pari knew that she couldn’t really face the world. Pari did the right thing by not going because the ladies there were still judging her except Jumman Bua who genuinely wanted Pari to attend her best friend’s wedding as she knew what Naheed meant to her & what sort of relationship they both shared. Jumman Bua is the only one who feels for both Shabbir & Pari & that is why despite being told not to, she keeps on visiting them as she knows that they are going through a hard time.

Naheed gave her one last try to find Taimur & fix things up but that couldn’t happen because he had left. At least Taimur did leave a message behind & as he said, he was trying to contact Naheed too but he couldn’t get through. The misunderstanding between Taimur, Pari & Shabbir is not going to get resolved it seems because what he wrote in his letter is what Pari has told her father a million times but not sure if he will ever be able to trust her again. I hope Pari hands over the letter to Shabbir but then again, she will be scared because he might misunderstand her again too as to how did she get a letter from Taimur?

Well, Akram got married & even with all the lies, everything worked in his favor only for him to find out that he got married to the wrong girl. I don’t know why but I found that entire situation quite funny especially Dilbar’s questions & reactions made it more humorous. Akram got fooled but he just didn’t give up. It is unfortunate that he still hasn’t dropped the idea of finding Pari because in all honesty, he wasn’t in love with Naheed so he won’t be considering the fact that he will be ruining her life. Akram is someone who will go to any extreme to get what he wants & he also wouldn’t care if he will end up hurting people because he is just cold & selfish like that. I am interested to see how Pari’s love will bring any changes in his personality, if any?

Overall, it was a very interesting episode that I had a good time watching. Yes, some of the scenes showing Pari’s sorrow were a little stretched but then that’s alright. I’m really liking everyone’s acting but I really have a good time watching Saife Hassan as Dilbar, he is really funny. Hania Amir, Saboor Ali & Zahid Ahmed have done a good job too. Aangan Episode 31 Review – Super!

Ohkay so, this episode showed how everyone was trying to cope up with everything that has happened over the past few days, their reactions & conversations were elaborated a bit more but the focal points remained the same; Asim & Sadaan’s marriage!

Well, I’ll be honest, I am getting ticked off with Hajra’s attitude. It was quite shocking to hear her putting herself at the same pedestal as Laila. She is forgetting that Sadaan begged her for months & she didn’t budge & what happened with Laila was something no one in this family could relate to because their husbands didn’t cheat on them or betray their trust like that, so Hajra at that moment seemed quite shallow to be comparing the two situations to justify her wrong childish behavior. Laila’s expression said it all but she knows that there’s no other option than to just ignore all such statements because they will be slurred every now & then!

Afrah is trying hard to not upset Hajra but at this moment it looks like she is banging her head against a wall. At least it is good to know that Afrah has Abba Jee’s support!

Well, Zoya has left quite an impression on everyone in the family. No one could relate to this version of Zoya because the drastic change left everyone wondering what went wrong with her after her marriage. Well, one thing’s for sure, Aqdas is so not going to turn into Allauddin part 2 because he tried to reason with Zoya & tried to make her realize that everyone had a right to make their decisions. I am not sure what has gone into Zoya’s head? She was always just a part of the family & never the one who had influenced people’s decisions, so why does she think that now after she has gone out of the house, she will be treated as a royalty where people will be wary of her & consider her likes & dislikes before making any decision? Everything that Zoya said to Aqdas went to show that even though on the surface Zoya has everything working for her, like getting married to a decent guy coming from a very good family background, but within her heart & mind she has harboured so many complexes & even if people don’t mean it, she assumes that she is being taunted for everything. Zoya has spent quite a lot of time in her parents house after Anila’s marriage so she has seen how everyone used to dread her visits, so it is sad that Zoya is not even considering it & is just making it all about herself. I really wish to see Aqdas snapping Zoya out of her complexes & turning her negative perspective into a positive one.

Asim tried to convey his messages to Laila but Laila is not ready to give him a chance because for now, Laila is just done with him & is picking up the pieces to move on. Laila for now is learning how to be self-sufficient, even though she was but now she is trying not to rely on Asim emotionally as well as financially. I loved how Zaitoon tried to make Laila feel better but then Rubina & Zaitoon also spoke about how they should just let Laila be because that way she will learn how to deal with her pain.

Asim is not at a happy place, obviously did he actually expect that the news of his 2nd marriage will be welcomed whole-heartedly? It was obvious that he was getting irritated because of Haseena but he is just putting up with her. Asim himself is in the dark because he hasn’t gotten a chance to speak to Laila, to tell her how he feels & to listen to how she feels too, till that happens I am sure he will just be distressed, well I’ll say it serves him right. Haseena on the other hand also looks like a victim because now she has to deal with Asim’s mood swings but then, she also knew that it wasn’t going to be a smooth sail. Even though Haseena hasn’t gotten any place in Asim’s family yet but she still seems a bit at peace with the fact that now their marriage is not a secret, that is why she even demanded Asim to come & take her to the doctor. Haseena’s definitely not the culprit here.

Oh well, I laughed when two victims of attention deprivation had a conversation; Shafiq & Anila, lol. Anila obviously is trying to trap Shafiq so that he gets Waleed married to one of his daughters but I have a feeling he will be interested in Shaina. Let’s see!

Loved every bit of this episode too. I must say in one of the scenes Iffat Omar wasn’t wearing heavy kajal & she looked really fresh & young, loved that natural makeup look on her. Zahid is nowhere to be seen, I really wish to see his contribution too in the future episodes. I can’t believe we’re through 31 episodes & we still aren’t bored of this drama. Team Aangan should take a bow *thumbs up*. Please share your thoughts!

She also posted her pictures during the rally. Here is her tweet:

Khasara Episode 6 – Review!

Ohkay so, this was yet another average episode of Khasara with Sila on the loop about wanting the best for her boys & Mohtasim scoring brownie points in front of Sila Bhabhi while having weird thoughts about her as well!

Sila & Moanis are not on the same page anymore. Moanis has tried to make Sila understand that they have everything to lead a decently comfortable life but Sila doesn’t buy that. Sila uses her kids’ name to convince Moanis that whatever he does is just not enough for them but in reality, it is Sila herself who isn’t happy or satisfied. If she was, she would’ve been thankful for all that Moanis does but she just wants more & more.

I fail to understand how come a mother of two grown up kids is such a dim-wit that she couldn’t decipher the subtle hints of Ahzar. Again, I couldn’t help but notice how much effort was put into making Sila look like a hoor pari that every other guy around her is going bonkers for her despite the fact that she is a mother of 2 kids!?!?!?! I really believe these guys need to book an appointment with an optician. Anyways, Areeba continued to rub Azhar’s ego & I still fail to see the importance of their track let alone their characters. Just a forced bechari & forced zalim shohar!

Mohtasim has really made an impression on Sila that is why more than relying on her husband, she is relying on Mohtasim, be it for her husband’s better future or her kid’s medical condition. Sila’s rants about her gaaon wali life & raves about sheher wali life are monotonous & torturous!

I thought Linta will draw some lines & teach Mohtasim some lifelong lessons but the best she could come up with was an idea that she will hire a male secretary for her tharki husband? Lol! Anyways, we all know that place will be filled by Moanis which will give Mohtasim a fair chance to stay in touch with Sila, plus his Sila bhabhi also wouldn’t mind since she is in such an awe of his perfection! Linta also decided to pay Arzoo so that she stays away from Mohtasim, is it just me or the ladies in this drama are mentally challenged? Both Sila & Linta? Surprised to see such a writing from a female herself! Anyways, please share your thoughts!

Aangan Episode 30 Review – Emotional & Beautiful!

I never ever ever thought that the drama that makes me laugh so hard will eventually make me cry too. I am sure everyone knows which scene in particular I’m talking about but will discuss it later. I must say, Faiza Iftikhar should take a bow, we need more dramas like these where the writers in such a non-preachy manner force the masses to re-think & re-evaluate how they treat their daughters in law. I am sure after watching Aangan, a lot of people must’ve been reflecting upon how they treat their family members. I love how Faiza Iftikhar has emphasized on the importance of daughters in law & has also shown us such parents in law who know how to most importantly respect them.

Laila made up her mind to leave because the thought of being in Asim’s home & facing him was overwhelming for her. Even though Abba Jee told her not to but she decided the otherwise. I must say I am totally with Laila on this, I was with her when she decided to leave & I’m still with her now that she has chosen to stay. Even though Laila hasn’t given birth to a baby but taking care of Abdullah & nourishing him has given birth to her motherly instincts & feelings. When Laila returned & was unpacking her bags, all I could see in her was a mother who was ready to face anything & everything but couldn’t even think of ruining her child’s life for her personal reasons. Laila decided to put Abdullah before her & isn’t it what mothers do? They always always put their children before them & face everything that comes their way, similarly, Laila decided to put up with what life threw at her but she didn’t want to part Abdullah with the only family that he’d ever know.

The highlight of this episode for me was the conversation between Laila, Zaitoon & Abba Jee. The way they assured her that this home belonged to her, the way they let her know that she was important, that she was their daughter & not daughter in law, the way they cried with her because they could feel her pain was absolutely beautiful & that scene left me teary eyed too. Such a strong & beautiful message that has been conveyed. I love Abba Jee & Zaitoon’s characters that even though they do have their fair share of differences with their daughters in law but when the time comes, they are the first one to support them & stand by them. They have such a big heart when it comes to Laila, Hajra & Rubina because they are aware of their sons’ shortcomings too – beautiful. Well, Asim landed in a guest room & I can’t wait for a confrontation between Laila & Asim but I hope they don’t give it a comic touch because it will be a defining & very important moment which needs to be conveyed a certain way!

Haseena was also finding it hard to cope up with whatever her husband was going through. She was feeling bad for Asim & as much as she wanted to help, she knew there was nothing that she could do & Asim had to deal with everything singlehandedly. If we keep her relationship with Asim aside, her colorful personality is interesting & I find her amusing. She is nice & for that reason I don’t know why I have a feeling that she might leave Asim & walk away? Let’s see.

Well well well Zoya came back or let’s say Anila’s younger version made an appearance. Even though it was funny but I would have liked if Zoya had remained the same or had even changed for the better, at least different to Anila because wo 1 hi kafi hai. Hajra was still not ready to forgive Afrah but I liked how Zaitoon & Abba Jee kept on reminding her time & again that she should accept this marriage & give Afrah some break!

Overall, a very beautiful episode with a very strong & beautiful message. Qavi Khan, Samina Ahmed & Iffat Omar stole the show. Haye, I so wish Rubina stops torturing Zahid but I guess their love-hate well mostly hate-hate relationship is going to stay the same & we won’t see any changes. Love it so far. Please share your thoughts.

Ishq Tamasha Episode 11 Review-Average!

This was an average episode of Ishq Tamasha. It mostly focused on the aftermath of kidnapping scene. So, Mirha has taken the meaning of isse apna ghar hi samjho literally. She is nicely settled in Mehrab’s home like she somehow owns it. Her clothing has changed ad she no longer makes braids. Her kidnapping has definitely refined her sense of fashion. Mehrab, on the other hand, is still stuck. He is buying clothes for Mirha and is not trying one bit to help her get back because why not? They have all the time in the world.

Rushna is a complete brat. Though what Mirha did to her should have happened when her chachi accused her of getting gifts but better late than never. She loves Mirha but she loves herself more. Instead of making plans to tell the truth and get Mirha back, she is trying to get Arham and his family arrested. She is a person who did not tell what happened to her mother but she went all the way to make Arham’s life hell, a guy whose family is far more powerful than hers.

Ishq Tamasha Episode 11 Review-Average!

Bratty Rushna’s Arham is also bratty. I have first time seen that riding a heavy bike represents nakaam ashiqui. His whole demeanour regarding Rushna is extremely childish. She is like a toy which he has to buy or he will throw a tantrum and start riding a crore rupee bike because that is how grown up brats throw tantrums. I am happy Mehrab slapped him because at that point I wanted to do it too. Why our dramas keep showing main uss ke beghair jee nahin sakta again and again. That concept is not just humanly applicable.

The writer has somehow forgotten that a girl has been kidnapped from her home. She is leading a heart and mighty life while kidnapper has a business to run so no time for solving the situation.
