Ayesha Omer kicked off her entertainment journey with a not-so-known singer, later on becoming a very popular actress and then venturing again into singing. She has donned many different shoes in her journey, but this time she is taking on a new role.
Ayesha Omer is now the celebrity mentor for Miss Veet Pakistan 2017, replacing the famous model Faiza Ansari for this season. She has already stepped onto her role, beginning with Karachi Auditions. Here are some of her pictures of the audition:
She has already started prepping herself for the role of a mentor by styling herself and being stern in judgement for the girls. She will be helping all those girls who will come to Miss Veet Pakistan for fulfilling their dreams of becoming the modelling face of the country.
We wish Ayeha Omer a best of luck for this new venture, and hope that Miss Veet Pakistan turns out to be as fairly judged as we expect it to be.
Pakistani movie Saawan has been making waves internationally before its release. Earlier, it had won “The Best Foreign Language Feature Film Award” in Madrid at The International Film Festival.
This time the movie has bagged two more award “Best Film” and “Best Director” at The Social World Film Festival” in Italy.
Saawan is written by Mashood Qadri, directed by Farhan Alam and tells the story of a disabled boy from remote areas who will be shown fighting against the society evils. He is faced by feudal lords, child abductors and natural calamities but his grit and resilience wins them all.
The movie will be releasing on the 15th of September and hopefully, will be having the same impact on audience in Pakistan that it had globally.
Nimra Khan is a versatile celebrity who has done acting, modelling, singing and directing in showbiz, along with running her own beauty salon and playing squash.
She was in the news a couple of years back due to her accident which had left her bed ridden for many months. Thankfully she is all out of that phase now, healthier and fitter than before and all the more beautiful.
Recently, we have found her vacationing in London with family. The pictures tell a story of fun times for Nimra and her little brother and sister and what seems to be like a group of cousins with them. Have a look at these pictures from a beautiful house in Hellingdon, London where the summers are bright and vibrant and Nimra has such an innocent clan to keep her company;
Over the past decade, Coke Studio has definitely made a name for itself. In fact, it has become one of the biggest shows in the sub-continent. A lot of super hit songs have been produced on the show and we are all very thankful to Coke Studio for giving those hits to us. But producing amazing tracks requires not only artists working hard but also the house band of Coke Studio.
In 2013, after five years, Hyatt stepped down from the position of executive producer of Coke Studio and handed her mantle over to the Strings members Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia.
Most of us will agree that these guys produce great music but what we all also want to know is how they are as the bosses? Well, in a recent interview to a local news agency, members of the Coke Studio’s House band answered this question:
They’re both gems! Being a good musician is a whole different thing but they’re incredible human beings.
Haider Ali further praised his bosses,
Most importantly, I’ve been given full liberty to play whatever I want. I’ve worked with so many artists but the moment I joined Strings I knew I could not go anywhere else.
Asif Nicky, another member of the band, said,
I’ve been associated with the entertainment industry for over 15-16 years but have worked with Strings for the past 5-6 years. Working with Strings has been really good.
The experienced musicians also talked about what he finds special working with the Strings boys,
To me, quality in work is a priority and that’s why being associated with Strings is special for me,
The house band this season includes: Aahad Nayani, Kamran Zafar, Babar Khanna, Aziz Kazi, Imran Akhoond, Haider Ali, Omran Shafique, Shahab Hussain, Rachel Viccaji, Natasha Khan, Joshua, Bradley and Adeel.
It seems like Strings are getting a five-star review from the house band. Let’s hope they continue making everyone feel as welcomed and as comfortable that they do now.
Muhammad Amir is a force to be reckoned with, according to most crickets at least. As you all might remember, Rohit Sharma didn’t share the same thoughts about our young bowler. In fact, in an interview in the past, the Indian Cricketer had said “Mohammad Amir ‘is just a normal bowler’ ” and there’s nothing special about him or his bowling.
There were his exact words,
There is just so much hype around him, I don’t think it is right to give him too much hype after one match”
“He is just a normal bowler, on that given day if he is good, he is good. It is not as if he turns up and blows everyone away. Stop talking about him already.
When our ace bowler was asked about Mr.Sharma, this is what he had to say,
Maybe his opinion about me has now changed. But let’s get one thing clear, I would never call him an ordinary batsman.
In fact, I would call him an extraordinary batsman. His record for India is superb and I respect him.
Pakistan and Afghanistan may have several political issues forming a divide between their ‘brotherhood’ but just like other countries, the artists of both the countries act as a means of bridge of prosperity between the neighbours.
On Friday, 28 July 2017, a documentary focusing on human rights issues was presented at the Centre for Excellence in Journalism in Karachi. It contained audio and video works by both Pakistanis and Afghanis. The Pakistani and Afghani makers seemed to have really hard on their masterpiece.
These documentaries were produced in a first-of-its-kind residential training programme that brought together documentary makers from Pakistan and Afghanistan in Karachi from 17-28 July 2017. The training was led by award-winning journalists from Serbia, Sonja Ristic and Zoran Ćulafić.
In an interview shared by Pakistan Today, Mohammad Behroozian from Afghanistan said,
Bringing different people together is always a fascinating idea. You get different perspectives, skill sets and different ways of thinking.
Talking about the benefits of Pakistan and Afghanistan working together he said,
It is even more important when the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan come together. The people-to-people diplomacy will, hopefully, result in better relations between the people of the two countries.
From Pakistani side, Saed Nazir said,
here is a wide gap between the journalists of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Such types of training definitely help build better understanding among professionals and improve the prospects of peace, because these people have the power to build public opinion.
This film ‘Sound is Silence’ revolves around a 15-year-old girl Fariah, who was born hearing impaired. Following this girl’s story the film brings into light the struggles a deaf person has to face living in Karachi. It further explores how this disability brings different obstacles in their way of success. This heart touching and eye opening film is made by Nameera Ahmad from Pakistan with 2 fellows from Afghanistan.
Radio journalist Saed Nazir from Pakistan produced an audio documentary tapping into a somewhat taboo topic in our country; transgenders and their struggles to survive in Pakistan as well as the hindrances they face to enter into the mainstream professions and maintain their positions.
This episode of Ghairat covered all the developments flawlessly and I definitely liked it more than the first episode. I feel that this entire episode however could have been far more impactful if the promos of the drama did not reveal so much. Viewers (like me) who had already watched the promos knew that Iqra’s character would end up like this therefore there was no surprise factor at all. For instance when Usman pretended he had forgiven Iqra, I wasn’t wondering what his next move was going to be. Overall, the situation leading to Iqra’s decision and Usman’s actions were covered convincingly. Some of the dialogues in tonight’s episode however sounded too artificial perhaps because of the way they were delivered. Sundas Tariq was phenomenal in the scenes in which she had no dialogues because her expressions and body language was faultless but her dialogue delivery in tonight’s episode especially when she tells Saba to change her outlook towards life was disappointing. Iqra Aziz and Muneeb Butt on the other hand have been performing surprisingly well throughout. Both of them are likeable in their respective roles and look good together too.
This episode opened with Shagufta telling Saba’s mother that her brother had spotted her with Zohaib. This particular situation was handled in a wise manner by her mother and as a result of that Saba had reason to hope that it won’t be that difficult to get married to Zohaib after all. The entire situation changed drastically when Iqra decided to elope with Junaid. This part of the story was shown brilliantly and it was covered quickly. The fact that Iqra was killed after she entered into nikkah with Junaid gives him the right to file a case against her murderers. Also, Junaid’s SHO friend is not going to let Usman get away with this easily. I feel that ultimately Usman’s mother will forgive him and that is how he will be released. While talking to her friend, Iqra mentioned that her phupo too had been killed which basically goes to show that what happened to Iqra wasn’t happening for the first time in the family. I also liked how the mother’s reaction to this entire situation was covered. It was good to see that the writer did not make the mother an accomplice to the murder. She tried to stop Usman but she was dragged away. She has been shown as someone who does not have a lot of influence in the house but at the same time it was hard to believe that she could not predict what Usman was going to do to her daughter and tried a little harder especially since this wasn’t the first murder in the family. Overall however it was much better than showing that the mother supported Usman and did not try to stop him.
The contrast between Zohaib’s family and that of Saba’s was once again very obvious in this episode as well. Zohaib’s character has been translated on screen in a fine manner by Muneeb Butt. Zohaib can give Saba the kind of life every girl deserves but it is not going to be easy because Shagufta will probably want Saba to get married to her brother. Saman Ansari is continuously seen playing characters which are completely different from each other and she excels in each one of these roles; I truly appreciate her versatility.
The last scene of tonight’s episode was directed really well which is why it was also very disturbing. It made you question the sanity of all such brothers out there who kill their sisters to save their so-called “honour”!
This episode of Ghairat was fast-paced and had a lot of important developments to its credit. I am looking forward to the next episode and most importantly want to see how this entire incident has effected Saba.
How many of you watched this latest installment? Do share your thoughts about it.
Ohkay so, let me get this out of the way first, I am sure this episode would’ve worked for a lot of viewers but sadly it didn’t work for me. The only good thing that I saw in this episode was a development in Nida’s character which was again long due, so I am glad things finally moved in that direction where her character went through an emotional transition but that’s where it all stopped for me because I didn’t enjoy Zaki & Hayat’s scenes nor their behavior!
So, Tabrez only tried to exploit Nida as he knew that she is emotionally weak, so he thought he would once again use her to make himself feel better. Tabrez’s ego didn’t allow him to accept that Nida was finally moving on in her life & that is why even after breaking up with her, he was tailing her because of which he knew that she was getting married. Tabrez himself is a weak man who by making the most of others’ weaknesses feels good about himself. Nida actually got scared & thought may be she had left something with Tabrez that he was trying to use against her.
It was good to see Hayat trying to comfort Nida but that’s where her character stopped making sense for me in this episode. All her lectures to Zaki & her overly portrayed concerns for Nida were off-putting, to the point where I started seeing Hayat as an Agony Aunt. For the first time it looked like Hayat was arguing for the sake of it, only to test Zaki further to see if he will actually stand by his word & will protect Nida. Again, seeing Hayat taking the ‘credit’ for lecturing Zaki on dignity was off-putting. Hayat needs to sort her own mess before trying to fix others’ problems as it looks like Hayat really is interested in others’ lives more than she is in hers & that makes her look lifeless & aimless at times. Yes, to be honest, in the beginning it was good to see Hayat being this strong, level headed, independent sort of a girl who wasn’t weak but now seeing all that she has been doing from last so many episodes, that thing is making her look annoying rather than interesting. For me, in this episode, Hayat came out as an Agony Aunt who had a hard time minding her own business. Yes, Hayat wanted to protect her sister Nida but then seeing everything that she directed at Zaki was uncalled for & then the way she tried to argue with him a bit more to get back at him really made it look like she was trying to pick a fight & when Zaki wasn’t giving her that chance, she was getting agitated!
It was good that Zaki took a stand for Nida & told Tabrez that nothing that he’d say or do will make Zaki change his mind. Tabrez, like I said being a weak man only needed this dose to know that Nida was not alone & that’s why he lost the confidence he had when he threatened Nida. To be honest, I didn’t feel a thing for Hayat when she was standing there shedding tears on her ‘majboori’ where she is backing out of her love to give Nida the love of her life, sorry, she has done this to herself so no sympathies there!!!
Now, coming over to the good thing about this episode, it was Nida’s realization. Finally, Nida was tired of playing games, she was tried of manipulating people, she was tired of exploiting Zaki & she was tired of doing everything that she has done till date, that is why even when Jimmy tried to show her the brighter side of the picture that things will sort out after her marriage, Nida didn’t seem thrilled by the idea as she could finally see that everything was wrong. She has really played games with Zaki, Hayat & has also involved her mother to achieve her goal, so now when everything was under control, she could see that she wasn’t at peace as her conscience was making her realize that she was wrong all this while & she won’t be able to have that happiness that she dreams of while having so many burdens on her heart & mind.
Overall, this episode was just alright. I enjoyed a few light-hearted conversations that Affaq, Haroon, Azra & then Azra & Zaki had. Anum Goher’s dressing (except that white kurta near the pool) in this episode was hideous, I guess she forgot that she was playing the character of a fashion model in this drama. Yes, Nida’s character was going through a transition but that shouldn’t have affected her dressing in such a bad manner. Yumna Zaidi’s bright blue shirt was nice & it suited her complexion, probably one of those very few dresses in Hayat’s collection that were good! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yeh Raha Dil.
Farhad Humayun – the singer, video artist, drummer and producer – is all set to release his first single ever. Titled as Mur K Dekho, it is soon going to hit the music scene across Pakistan.
While talking about his song with a local publication house, he said:
“Mur Ke Dekho is a song with a beat that’s danceable and a melody that’s sing-able and catchy. In a sense it is about looking forward to life, embracing all the dark adventures it holds, dealing with them with a smile and dropping all the baggage we collect. The future always holds promise.
This is going to be my most definitive work as an artist and songwriter. I’m playing all instruments myself except piano and ethnic instruments. I felt I was so close to these compositions that I wanted to transfer my truest emotions on tape by playing guitar, drums, bass and some keys myself, apart from singing and writing, Sarmad and I have worked closely on lyrics melodies and arrangements. He’s truly awesome.”
Here is the official teaser of the song:
Mur K Dekho will launch on 2nd August, and we are anticipating what it is actually going to be about. Farhad is the man of many talents, and has donned many shoes to rule the music arena. We wish him all the best for his upcoming song, and we are sure that it is definitely going to be a hit.
Syra Shahroz is one of the cutest celebrities that have ever existed. Her marriage with Shahroz Sabzwari was one of the biggest shocks we ever had, because we never knew that they were even dating. But, the loving and adorable couple definitely stole our hearts from Day 1. Since then, there is no stopping their relationship growth.
This absolutely adorable couple still go on dinner dates and have some time out alone, despite of the ever-growing daughter Nooreh. That’s how love grows. Right? But, their naughty daughter spoiled their date this time.
Syra had a date night with Shahroz at Sakura to catch up on life with yummiest Sushi. But the lil and the cutest date crasher was also there. Being the momma she is, she had to obviously take her too.
We wish that this family remains completely the same and as adorable as they are.
Anum Fayyaz is the renowned talented actress of Pakistan. She has starred in many plays and has proved her worth as an entertainer from time and again. The actress got married in a secret ceremony, leaving her fans guessing who her husband is.
However, after much ado, she has introduced her husband Asad Anwar on TV and discussed about her serene and satisfying life after marriage. Though she appeared before, this time she talked about her marital life with Sanam Jung on HUM TV’s morning show, Jaago Pakistan Jaago.
Here are some of her lovely pictures with husband and the audience at JPJ:
We wish the couple a long life of happiness and togetherness.
Recently our morning shows have started coming up with some very strange ideas . There have been shows like recreating the bridal look to finding the cutest baby among the participating toddlers .
Finding the cutest baby does not seem like a really good idea in the first place but in all fairness they did happen to consider the feelings of the parents and the kids involved to some extent by repeating that it’s hard to choose from them. During the first two shows there were just eliminations . In the last show, however the present or the award was given to all the kids who were finalists. I don’t know if that was because the producers had decided so in the first instance or it was because of Nadeem Jafri as he was very insistent that he has been called to judge so he does not want to see any baby left out without the present.
Apart from the conceptual the differences that some people might have with finding one baby who has to act and look the cutest, the program was very interesting to watch. The kids had stimulating activities and judges of the first episode, Sara Kashif and Khushi Maheen were very cute.
If you are a child lover and enjoy the antics that toddlers and preschoolers can produce when in the mood, then you must watch the recording of this program. You will not be disappointed as there were some very cute babies and very loving parents and very funny hosts and judges in Salam Zindagi in these three episodes, aired on the 28th, 29th and 31st of July. It is something you can enjoy if you want to watch a common Tv show with your kids.
One thing that really stood out in today’s episode, on the last day of competition was Faysal Quraishi’s dressing.
The much hyped comeback of Pepsi Battle of the Bands is finally here. It is the second season of the show with the first being aired in 2002; more than a decade ago. The contestants of the season one are now the judges. The judges panel will include Fawad Khan, Meesha Shafi, Atif Aslam, Farooq Ahmed and Shahi Hassan. The show is hosted by Ayesha Omer.
Working Of The Show:
The show is currently in audition phase. The judges will first listen to all the participants and will short-list the ones they like. The short-listed ones then once again will battle to reach the final round. At the end only six bands will compete to win the battle of bands in the finale.
Judges and Hosting:
The first episode had Fawad Khan, Meesha Shafi and Farooq Ahmed (lead vocalist of Aaroh) in the judges seats. Though the main judges were Fawad and Meesha as was shown in the promos and Farooq was a guest judge but Farooq was the only one who was seen mentoring the contestants. Fawad and Meesha were almost agreeing with everything what Farooq said. Fawad’s focus was more on the stage presence and the same was the case with Meesha. Farooq on the other hand told the musicians what they were doing right and wrong and what should they work on. In short the only true judge in the episode was Farooq. The hosting was okay. Ayesha looked beautiful undoubtedly but for most part her hosting seemed like she was reading out of paper. Maybe this is the first episode and things will hopefully take off as the show moves forward.
The Bands:
There were many bands which impressed the judges and their music was unique too. Aitebar’s cover by the band OB Positive was the best of the evening. The way they performed created a beautiful nostalgia; it was very close to the original as well as unique at the same time which made the whole rendition beautiful. Another band named Jasim and Pindi Boyz performed their own song and it was hilarious and great. Positive created divine feels with Kalab and all the judges were impressed. Positive had also participated in the first season of the show where Fawad and Farooq were themselves participants. Naksh who played Bolo Bolo also got very positive remarks but I didn’t find them unique; their music was okay and their lead vocalist doesn’t seem very polished. Kashmir was another band who performed beautifully. Madlock and Shajr though got yes from the judges were not up to the mark as Madlock should work on coordination more and the lead vocalist’s voice in Shajr was not matching the music they created though their music was very powerful. The music seen in the first episode was very raw and native. The bands will improve more as the show will move forward and the coming episode will hopefully bring more unique bands out on the scene.
This is only the first episode and had a lot of short-comings. Possibly the coming episodes will showcase improvements on the judging side and maybe we could see Atif too. Did you watch the first episode? Which bands you liked? Share in the comments!
Hira Mani might have kicked off us the wife of just another comedy actor, but she has managed to make a personality of her own. It won’t be wrong to say that she has become even more popular than her husband Salman aka Mani. Her list of fans is increasing day by day with more producers and directors taking the lead. There is no doubt that she is overshadowing all the actress in drama serials with her strong roles.
If there was one thing we hadn’t seen till yet, it was Hira’s photoshoot which showcases her inner bubbly character. This time she has channeled her inner charisma with makeup artist and photographer Akif Ilyas for a latest photoshoot. Have a look at pictures and see how versatile a person she is!
Ali Zafar and Maya Ali are making their Pakistani debut with ‘Teefa in Trouble’. Needles to say, we have high expectations with both. The shooting of the movie has just wrapped up and it seems that both the stars have fell short of words for the amount of fun they had on-sets and the love they received.
After Maya Ali and her emotional tribute to the end of her Teefa journey, Ali Zafar has also penned down a letter and we must say that is far more touching than we expected. Uploading the picture on his Instagram account, the ace singer wrote:
Words fall short to express. #teefaintrouble the experience. #TNT, reads his Insta caption.
Ali Zafar will be playing the lead character ‘Teefa’ while Maya Ali will be starring opposite him as ‘Anya’. We hope that the film rules box office as much as it has ruled our heart.
Humaima Malick has already appeared in a film across the border with Imran Hashmi. But, she is coming back with another Bollywood film, but with Sanjay Dutt this time. Dutt is the legend in India, and is the stepping stone of India’s entertainment industry.
Just recently, a horde of pictures of the duo surfaced on social media. The pictures clearly indicated the companionship between the two actors. However, Humaima’s birthday wish for Dutt is something that will definitely melt your hearts.
She posted two pictures on social media alongside a very heartwarming caption:
Her caption with these two pictures read:
This picture defines our relationship. You are such a pure soul to know, a heart of gold. I love the love you have for your mom because of which you’re the best kind of man a woman can know, your wife can vouch for this ❤ all the hardships that you have faced and still face only make you stronger and I pray to God that easier times come to you sooner than soon. I’m so lucky to have known and worked with a man of your esteem and I wish nothing but the best upon you and your wonderful as ever family. Happy birthday ❤ @dutt1
Humaima has signed the film titled “Sher” with Sanjay Dutt in 2012. But, unfortunately, her Bollywood debut with Dutt was postponed due to his imprisonment. The production has once again been resumed, after his release, and Humaima Malick will be playing the wife of Sanjay Dutt. She will take over her husband’s empire after his death. No tentative release date has been announced yet.
Our very own Meera Jee is finally getting married in August. She has not disclosed about her groom due to nazr e bad issues but according to all reports its none other than Captain Naveed. The functions will take place in Lahore. The grooms family is already in Lahore and now Meera Jee is out shopping for her bridal jora. And who will design her dress? The ace and much loved Indian designer Manish Malhotra. Meera Jee has posted a selfie with him too.
So finally the wedding is happening. We hope Meera Jee looks the way she has imagined on her big day and we wish her all the best for her future!
The pace of this drama is slow but it has my undivided attention nevertheless. The leading characters in the play and their complicated yet intriguing relationships with each other are the main reason why so far this drama continues to be unpredictable and hasn’t lost its appeal even with its slow pace. Every episode reveals something new about the characters. The story is moving forward with a flow and I can’t help but look forward to what surprises this drama might have in store for the viewers. The fact that every character’s thought process is being shown to the viewers in some way or the other as the story progresses forward also makes it easier for the viewers to connect to these characters. Every episode also has few dialogues which you can listen to and enjoy over and over again. I have always enjoyed Khalil-ur-Rehman’s unusual stories because if they are well executed they can be really powerful. I also find myself comparing this drama to Bunty I Love You over and over again, which too had an unconventional story and was very well put together.
“Koi ap ko dukh de kr khush ho jaye tu us se dukh le kr khush ho jao. Koi aap ko chor kr jane lage tu use salam kr ke khao, aap hamare nahi janab tu hum bhi aap ke nahin.”
Faris was shown struggling to end this relationship in a way that would prove to him, more than anyone else, that he was not hurting and that he was ready to start afresh. The fact however seems to be very different, he is constantly struggling to be at peace with the decision Maya took and he has to go along with because he has no choice. While Maya is more than ready to end this relationship, Faris does not want to say goodbye but he has absolutely no control over the situation. He is trying his best to take the higher road but then there are also instances when he thinks about doing something which would hurt Maya too. His proposal to Zoya was somehow something I could see coming especially because of the way Tipu reacted when Zoya was talking about Faris so fondly. Faris’ character is very interesting; a male protagonist like no other! It is good to see a male lead being the centre of attention for a change especially because Faris’ character is brilliantly etched-out and translated on screen faultlessly by Sami Khan. The body language and dialogue delivery has been perfect throughout and Sami Khan’s performance is the main reason why I am enjoying this character so much. I never thought a divorce party would make so much sense to me but the writer, director and of course the actors involved have succeeded in “selling” the idea! The reasons behind this divorce party are such that you can’t help but feel for the person throwing the party and actually look forward to the outcome!
Mansha Pasha has breathed life into Dariya’s character in such a beautiful manner. Her performance is right on point right from the first episode. Tonight, the viewers got an insight into how Maya felt about Dariya when she got married to Faris. Ayeza Khan’s acting in this flashback scene was brilliant; her expressions were superb. It is good to see Ayeza Khan performing so well in a character which is anything but typical.
Overall, I enjoyed watching this episode thanks to the perfect execution, beautiful dialogues and great performances. Some of the conversations could have been chopped down but in general all the conversations added something new to the whole scenario. I am glad Saif did not get a lot of screen time in this episode.
How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Do share your thoughts about it.
Our country is definitely the most beautiful on earth, but sometimes you need to escape the heat in these months of the year. So, when we saw Imran Abbas’s pictures in such beautiful cities around Europe, with the hashtag travel diaries, they just had to be shared.
Here is the handsome actor on the streets of Amsterdam in Netherlands, eating, exploring and having fun.
The following pictures are from the historic city of Rome in Italy.

Here is a picture of him near the mighty rivers of Germany.
And now from the world renowned tourist destination, Switzerland. The country is almost flawlessly beautiful with its alps, rivers, valleys, ski resorts and hiking trails unparalleled in the world.

Punjab Nahi Jaungi is running a huge promotional campaign all over Pakistan and especially Punjab. We had recently reported their photos and video from Lahore, meeting the fans, singing to them and promoting their upcoming movie.
This time the cast arrived in Faisalabad with even more grandeur and originality. The pictures and video clips show Humayun Saeed and Urwa Hocane. Mehwish Hayat was probably occupied somewhere else.
The duo were wearing matching bright kurtas by Mohsin Naveed Ranjha with “punjab nahi jaungi” embroidered on them , along with their onscreen names; Fawwad Khagga and Durdana.
The original even was held in Cinepax Faisalabad, where the movie will be appearing on the screens on Eid ul Adha.
How the movie turns out to be remains a surprise because you often cannot judge a book accurately by its cover. However, how Urwa and Humayun arrive in Faisalabad is certainly a scene to watch and enjoy on its own. There were horses and drums and Punjabi Bhangra and the hero and herione waving from the horse cart ;
This episode was not only interesting but also important because today’s events contribute to Maria’s character development; up until now she’d been unwilling to help the dead but in the future episodes she won’t be so reluctant as she is brought to the realization that her job as a medium is important to those who no longer have a voice.
Imran, dude, you might as well be dead – your vengeful pehli biwi wants you dead and your dusri biwi doesn’t want to have anything to do with you either. :P Turns out that Arjumand is Imran’s first wife and holds him responsible for the death of her daughter, Neeni. Now, the thing is, Arjumand was Imran’s first wife but Imran was not her first husband, so that makes Imran Neeni’s stepfather. Don’t worry, I’ll wait while you take a moment to grasp how these characters are related to each other ;)
The question remains: Why does Arjumand blame Imran for Neeni’s death? Why didn’t Imran sever all ties with Arjumand? And I also want to learn why Maria married Imran knowing he was already married?
I’m not gonna lie, the other track is a bit difficult to describe and explain but I’ll try! Ahmed and Sakina – we don’t meet these two – elope, and Sakina’s brother, Zain and father kidnap Ahmed’s sister, Rida to make Ahmed’s family suffer the consequences. What makes this track interesting and layered is another couple from a different time – the Partition of 1947. A Hindu girl, Surghanda (probably misspelling the name, apologies in advance) is madly in love with Mehmood but their love story is a sad one. Surghanda’s story broke my heart, and the actress playing her role was fantastic. Mohammad Ahmed’s writing remains sharp and here, some of the dialogues about love and religious animosity were achingly touching. This was a deeply distressing and cutting account of honour killings, and religious and sectarian animosity, made more so by the fact that we also get to view it from the eyes of the spirits of Surghanda and Mehmood. Ahmed, Sakina,Rida, Zain – all meet a tragic end.
This track, however, was not without its faults. Why did we focus on Rida and Zain and didn’t even get a glimpse of Ahmed and Sakina? I think the episodes should be a bit longer so that the tracks are more nicely fleshed out and don’t leave the viewers confused.
I also really enjoyed the scenes of Maria’s maid, Nasreen Apa. Seems like all the spirits like to scare the wits out of the poor woman! I want to see more of Nana Syed in the future episodes because I find his character quite intriguing.

Panama Case has caused quite a disruption in the country, and entertainment world is no less. Just after the political uncertainty and chaos caused in the country due to the decision, Patari Music has released a new track, making a Pajama of Panama.
Captioned alongside this video was; “Mian k naaray toh nahi wajjay, magar band zarur baj gaya hai.. Patari per. The songs that come to our mind right after the #PanamaVerdict-“
Isn’t that simply hilarious? It already adds to the joy of the number of tweets and jokes that we have been hearing since yesterday. Other than this music compilation, Patari also released a picture that depicts the sad reality of this nation.
Other than this, Patari also released a compilation of 13 tracks to go alongside Nawaz Sharif’s political drama. Songs including, ‘Chief Saab’, ‘Chor’, ‘Jhoot ki Loot’, ‘Money’ and ‘O Sheeday’.
You can already expect Patari to be this hilarious and funny with the music at the time when country has been divided into two different political fronts.

And when Khan’s efforts, double up with the king of puns – Zaid Ali – we know something definitely exciting will be brewing in. We can’t wait for the show to go on air, especially the episode where Pakistani American Zaid will be making us laugh our heads off.
Every Pakistani is familiar with ‘Parchi’. Either you have become a victim of it or has used it for your own good but surely you have come across it in your life time. We have a lot of Parchis running from government to clerkship and even showbiz. Sometimes Parchi proves to be a break in chance, a help, and the other times the whole career is based on it turning a meager Parchi into a Parcha. In showbiz we have many people who got chances with Parchis and polished their kills to become stars. And we have many who used their Parchis only to survive in the industry and keep getting low-grade projects despite not improving themselves. Here is a list of artists who have got big breaks and then went on to become stars because of their talents and some who sustained in the industry due to the help they got:
Momal Sheikh:
She is the daughter of veteran actor Javed Sheikh. Momal has been around for many years now but there is no single project of hers which became memorable. She also went to Bollywood and made her debut with Happy Bhaag Jaayegi with you guessed it right; her father’s help. She is a big example of Parchi gone wrong.
Here comes another Sheikh. He is the son of Javed Sheikh and brother of Momal Sheikh. He also entered the industry under his father’s umbrella and struggled for many years due to his plastic acting. He has now improved a lot and have given good projects like Choti Si Zindagi and Alif Allah aur Insaan which is on-air right now. But his Parchi did help him to survive for so long.
Shahroze Sabzwari:
He is the son of veteran actor Behroze Sabzwari and nephew of Javed Sheikh. Shahroze is also married to Syra Yousaf and couple remains in the news for being ‘cute’. Shahroze is also working in the industry for a long time now and will make his film debut soon too. But did he ever impress the audience? No! Does he still get projects? Yes! I think the Parchi is quite obvious here.
Ins E Yazdan:
The picture is quite self-explanatory. Ins E Yazdan is the brother of Hocane sisters. And when you are the brother of Hocane sisters; you get to debut in a project like Udaari. Whoever has watched Udaari knows the level of Parchi this one was when he used to call ZEAABOO in his dead voice. And he had NO expressions when Zebo’s mother gets arrested. But despite of all lacks; sister dear got him debut in a big project.
Danyal Zafar:
He is becoming a sensation these days. He will make his debut in Coke Studio too and his debut has been hyped extremely. Not just that Danyal will perform in two songs in Coke Studio. But what has he done to get two songs and this much hype with his debut and all. You got it right! He was born as the younger brother of Ali Zafar. Ahemmm! Quite a good eligibility.
Zaw Ali:
While talking about Coke Studio we have another artist who is debuting this year. Zaw Ali is the daughter of legendary Sajjad Ali. Yes I do hope she turns out to be as melodious as Sajjad himself but getting such a big opportunity in the start of your career is not as easy as it was for Zaw. Many voices just stay as background singers for years before they get their debuts.
Anzala Abbasi:
Anzala Abbasi is the daughter of actors Shamoon Abbasi and Javeria Abbasi. She comes from a family of stars as the they are related with the showbiz for two generations now. Anzala made her acting debut with a soap Gila on HUM TV. Her mother insisted on Anzala for joining the acting field and Jeveria told this on Faysal Qureshi’s show herself.
Sadia Faisal:
Sadia Faisal is the daughter of talented actress Saba Faisal. Sadia is in industry for quite some time too but has failed to leave a mark and impress the audience. But she still gets a lot of projects and supporting roles and is seen on screens in different dramas.
Meesha Shafi:
This is a case of good use of opportunity. Meesha is a talent house herself. She is the daughter of Saba Hameed. She debuted as a model in Jawad Ahmed’s music video “Bin Tere Kya Hai Jeena”. She also acted on small screen and in films with her negative role in Waar getting her a lot of critical acclaim. Meesha has not used Parchi in advancing her career but it cannot be ignored that she got a good break at a meager age of 17. Her brother Faris Shafi could not make big in the industry. Thus Meesha is a person who advanced on the basis of her own talent and didn’t need her Parchi throughout like some people mentioned above.
Ahad Raza Mir is a newcomer in the industry. He has appeared on our television screens in two successful projects. One being Sammi and the other Yaqeen Ka Safar which is on-air right now. He will be seen in the movie Parwaaz Hai Junoon too which is based on Air Force. He is the son of renowned actor and producer Asif Raza Mir. He has garnered all big projects upon his debut. Though he seems a promising actor, the support he got is obviously visible.
Shaan Shahid:
Another example where support proved in giving the industry a talented actor. A little help leading a talent to success one could say for him. Shaan is the son of veteran actress Neelo and writer and film maker Riaz Shahid. Shaan didn’t take acting seriously in the beginning but later joined family business of his father Riaz Shahid Films at that time and his acting debut was Bulandi which was a huge film at that time with names such as Nadeem, Samina Peerzada attached to the cast. Though the success he got later and the way he got position of a superstar in Pakistan is due to his own talent and hardwork.
This sums up my list for people who got into the industry with back support. Who else do you think should be added? Share your opinion!
Mehak Ali has given us some very beautiful songs including the famous Kala Doria, Main Te Mera Dilbar Jani and Bandhi.
This time she has released another very good song in her soulful voice call Beparwah. The music is given by Shajar and Fakhar. The lyrics are by Raheel Minhas.
Here is the video of the song which tells the story of regret of a husband who doubts his wife needlessly and then drowns in grief over the rift his suspicions have caused between them.
Team Chain Aye Na is releasing the songs one by one. The movie faced a lot of crticism when a whooping 4 minute long trailer launched that consisted of everything from slow motion fights to ketchup splashes. Now after a wedding song and the title track; another song is out and it is a romantic number. The song gives all the 90’s feels from its melody to the video. Watch the new song Nazar se Nazar below:
What do you think of Shahroze playing a chocolate boy? Share your thoughts!
“Yehi tu burai hai tum logo mein, khushi mile tu chuti kr lete ho, ghum mile tu bhi chutti kr lete ho. yeh tu ghum k samnay ghutne tekne wali baat ho gaye na!!”
This had to be my favorite dialogue in tonight’s episode. I have to admit that after watching a few episodes of this drama which won me over completely, I had huge expectations from this one as well. Although the story moved forward considerably in this episode but the dialogue delivery by some of the actors and the scenes in general could have been a lot better if they weren’t so slow! The story has definitely taken off but the way this drama has been directed is flawed in more ways than one. ” lrkiya phansne k angrezi tareeqe” was the funniest dialogue in tonight’s episode.
Maheen decided to finally meet Gulrez so that she could talk to him about the decision she took. This conversation was completely in line with Maheen and Gulrez’s character. Maheen took the lead and Gulrez wasn’t left with a lot of choice. It was good to see these two finally face to face since they have hardly had any scenes together since the first episode. Maheen is still not confessing her love for Waqar but she is very sure that she does not want to get married to Gulrez. Just like always the actress playing Maheen’s mother’s role went completely overboard and ruined the scene in which she tells Maheen off! Ayeza Khan however performed brilliantly in tonight’s episode.
Jia’s track took an interesting turn with this episode but I am still wondering where Jia’s father got this cassette from after all this time!! Also, the way Jia’s mother’s story was told was too slow and the dialogue delivery was quite average. The story however was another interesting twist in the story. It gave Jia an even bigger reason to do something to hurt Maheen. Her conversation with Waqar showed that she was going to take her “revenge” by doing whatever she could to ensure that Maheen and Waqar did not get married. Jia and Waqar have not talked to each other since he told her that he did not want to get married to her. Their relationship with each other sort of ended with that conversation they had and Waqar never really apologized to her the way Maheen did to Gulrez therefore I am definitely wondering how these two are still such good friends! Also, how could Waqar be talking about his love life with someone he was about to get married to? I think the writer should have covered this aspect of Waqar and Jia’s track before showing that Waqar was turning to Jia for advice.
Ami Begum continued to blame Waqar entirely and the rest of the family concluded that this was because she was missing him!! I have to say that this side of Ami Begum’s personality is very difficult to like. It sounds belittling whenever these grown ups use insulting words for the youngsters. After a long time I felt for Gulrez’s character especially when Maheen did not even give him the choice to decide whether he wanted to listen to her apology or not.
Overall, this episode was alright, I expected it to be better. The story however has taken an interesting turn and I am waiting to find out how it unfolds in the upcoming episodes. Do share your thoughts about this episode.
Ohkay so, the writing of Saji Gul, direction of Kashif Nisar & the production of Moomal Entertainment; O Rangreza aired tonight for the first time with a bang. The first episode was not only promising but had so much to offer especially when it came to the characters & what’s commendable is how effortlessly the dynamics of Khayyam’s family were elaborated. The promos of this drama did promise a lot & to be honest, I had high expectations when I tuned to this episode & it is definitely safe to say that the first episode met my expectations & I can’t wait to see what the team of O Rungreza has in store for the viewers!
So, it is a story of Abdul Khayyam Sani’s (Noman Ejaz) family, who is married to Mumtaz (Irsa Ghazal) & have a daughter who Khayyam being a poet has named Sassi (Sajal Ali). Mumtaz’s sister & brother in law passed away leaving their only child Qasim (Bilal Abbas Khan) behind, therefore he lives with his Aunt who he calls Mammo. Qasim is a student & he also runs a Fabric Dyeing Shop which Khayyam has financed. There’s also Kareemi Bua who lives with them, who usually takes care of the household chores.
Khayyam is Sassi’s ideal & she sees him as a perfect man. For Sassi, her father can never do anything wrong & that is the reason why she doesn’t see anything wrong with the way he mistreats her mother. Sassi thinks she knows what her father’s ideology is & to some extent she is right, because she understands him. Just because Sassi has allowed her father to influence her & her attitude so much, she doesn’t see the pain & suffering of her mother as she believes her mother doesn’t match her father’s caliber & standards, therefore Khayyam is entitled to treat Mumtaz like a doormat.
Even though it wasn’t revealed yet but it was interesting to see that Sassi was aware of the fact that Khayyam idealized Sonia Jahan & just because she sees the world through his eyes, in her own mind she has formed this picture of Sonia Jahan where she is this perfect ideal woman who even Sassi strives to be like. I am sure this will definitely turn out to be the reason where Sassi & Khayyam will stand against each other, because Sassi has seen her father being in awe of Sonia Jahan so may be when she will try to be like her, Khayyam wouldn’t condone her choices & that’s where Sassi will have issues with him because she would struggle to understand why Khayyam has different standards, for the woman he idealized all his life & for how & who he would want his daughter to be!
Qasim is an unconventional sort of a guy, who is different from most of the men. Qasim believes in solving matters by reasoning & not by showcasing unnecessary rage & may be that’s the reason why Sassi doesn’t see him worthy of being treated with respect. I found it amusing how every single time Sassi manipulated Qasim & he happily allowed her to do that because he is so nice to say no to Sassi especially. The only person who feels for Mumtaz is Qasim because he can totally see how her husband Khayyam treats her like a punching bag & a doormat whereas she tries really hard to please him. Qasim even voices his opinion on this matter in front of Sassi but since she is so blinded by the idea that her father is a perfect man, she doesn’t get Qasim’s point. I liked how they showed similarities between Khayyam Sassi & Qasim Mumtaz, it really highlighted the fact that they belong to same set of families.
Khayyam & Mumtaz are two different people. Khayyam being a poet had this different idea of a life partner that he wanted but Mumtaz is completely opposite to his dreams. She is a simpleton, a conservative housewife who believes in fulfilling her wifely duties without faltering & just because she puts up with everything that Khayyam directs at her, he has developed this habit of insulting her casually because he thinks that’s the only way to converse with her. All the things that Mumtaz tries to instill in her daughter Sassi do tell the tale of the sort of upbringing she got where girls were told to be subdued & probably never have an opinion or freedom to make some decisions in their life for themselves & this is exactly why she keeps on guiding Sassi to be like her!
I must say the direction was flawless throughout the episode, it did feel like the director extracted the best acting out of all the actors, that is why in the last scene where Khayyam laughs at his wife & she feels insulted, it was so amazing that without any dialogues, such intense emotions were conveyed. At that moment I thought may be Sassi felt for her mother & wanted to make her feel special that is why she took interest in what she wanted but then I realized that Sassi only did that to make her father happy because she is someone who can go to such extremes like getting someone explore the rubbish bin for her father’s sake. I so wish to see if there will ever come a moment in Sassi’s life where she will realize her father’s mistakes & will feel her mother’s pain? Will Sassi be ever able to see the emotional sufferings of her mother? I liked how it was shown that in a household where everything looked perfect from the surface or from the distance, things were far more messier & complicated when magnified. I really liked the equation that Sassi & Qasim shared, like Qasim always seemed cautious in front of Sassi yet he shared this much of comfort level with her that he could speak his mind to her, though Sassi may not be interested in what he has to say but at least he felt heard!
Overall, this episode was epic. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing, the direction, the art direction, everything was perfect. I enjoyed the dialogues a lot too especially the Sassi & Mumtaz reference, like the conversations had so much of wit that it sparked the perfect amount of comedy which made things quite interesting. I must say all the actors nailed their characters, Bilal Abbas Khan was perfect as simple Qasim, Irsa Ghazal did really well as a suppressed wife & I must say I am impressed with the change in her dialogue delivery & her voice modulation as well, like she really portrayed that ‘bechari biwi’ character perfectly because it was evident in each & every expression of hers. Noman Ejaz was in his element but then that’s given, considering he is Noman Ejaz, the one who nails every single character that is assigned to him. Now coming to the star of this episode, hands down it was Sajal Ali for me, not even for a second I felt that she went overboard & in fact after seeing her in heavy-duty dramas where she is the one doing most of the emotional heavy lifting, it was so refreshing to see her in a character like Sassi who has so many shades to her, like she is carefree, she is boisterous, she is manipulative, she is also someone who understands emotions, she can be snappy but she can be sweet too, so much to offer & every single thing conveyed perfectly by Sajal. I enjoyed all the scenes where Sassi teased her cousin Qasim & treated him like that ‘chota’ of the family. Her hand gesture & expression in that particular moment where she says ‘ye tum mujhe tartay kya rehte ho’ was so natural & amazing that it literally made me laugh out loud. I am sure she is going to do justice to this complex character of Sassi who has so many shades. I loved the vibrancy of this episode & I also enjoyed the soundtrack. Really really impressed & totally recommending this drama to those who are still on the fence about it. Please share your thoughts about this episode of O Rangreza!
Farhan Saeed might be the heartthrob of many, but he is privy to a lot of hate comments and thrashing too. People of Pakistan and the entertainment audience never leave a chance to bash celebrities if they think there is something wrong in what they are doing.
Saeed recently posted a picture, in which he is all dressed up in an embellished jacket, geared up to perform for Levis Live. However, it did not sit well with all his Instagram followers, and they came up front with a lot of negative comments and thrashing. Here is the picture, which became a topic of debate within a matter of hours:
Here is what some of the people had to say:
Despite of all the hate, there were people who supported him too. All I would want to say in the end is that celebrities are human too. Nobody gives anyone the right to thrash them so bad or to call them names. Regardless that they should care about their fans, sometimes overboard comments could hurt their feelings too. Obviously, they are also human and prone to heart.
Many Pakistani films have come out this year but many didn’t live up to the expectations. Only financial success was Mehrunisa V Lub U. Recently two films which were to come out were postponed including Project Ghazi due to technical issues and and Chain Aaye Na for getting a lot of backlash on its trailer. Now release date for another movie is announced.
Rangreza will be releasing on 21st December 2017. Gohar Rasheed announced the date on his Instagram.
As Arth-the destination is also coming out in December this year; we may see a competition in both movies. December will indeed be a good month for Pakistan film industry. Who will turn out as the winner? Only time will tell!
