‘Times TV To Shut Soon’, Sources!

0

The news is not very old where we saw this new channel emerging with lots of foreign shows all lined up to entertain the Pakistani audience but recently, it has been heard that the newly born channel is really not coming over the expectations Express Entertainment had from it and will soon be disappearing from screen.

Pakistani journalists have reported that the channel was going through serious financial constraints and since its launch, that is, June 1st, the channel failed badly to build a healthy viewership.  It is important to mention here that the channel promised to offer its potential viewers a balance between entertainment and news which was nearly true as well. The channel was doing well in the later part but still its entertainment was all limited to the Indian and Turkish dramas.

Times-TV

This sudden switching off the service is nothing new in the history of this group as it was only two years before that Express group shut down its English language channel for the same reason.

We hope that the group comes prepared next time to meet up the expectations of audience so that things may work out for the channel in near future.

Blessings,

Saqib Malik Turns into A Filmmaker!

It was previously the drama industry which we saw flourishing but adding another medal in the history of Pakistani entertainment, the film industry is coming up with a revolution where the film directors seem to understand what quality is expected from them by the audience. As per the latest reveals from the showbiz world, Saqib Malik is now planning to come up with a movie after directing many OSTs and small projects. He is one of the perfectionist in the field of direction so it is easy to predict that he has some real healthy idea with him to make his debut as a filmmaker.

images (1)

Saqib is busy deciding the cast for his movie and according to the reveals, he is considering Ali Zafar for the main lead in the movie. It has been quite a while that Ali has not done much for his own country and with this movie, it is more likely that he will re-boost his fan following back at home also.

It is yet difficult to speak more about the concept and genre of the movie but with  Saqib’s tag attached to it, it can be expected that the audience will be getting some real entertaining package which it will surely enjoy.

Numm Episode 04 – The Apology

0

Neelam’s disappearance was the highlight of tonight’s episode; it gave all the characters in the play something to ponder upon and it gave the viewer’s more of an insight into different characters. For me the most important as well as the most unexpected outcome of tonight’s happenings was that I finally saw Neelam as the sensitive girl that she actually is. Under that very tough exterior is a soft hearted sensitive young girl who doesn’t know much about the world but is kind enough to go against her own wishes to make her Amo happy and to keep the integrity of her family intact. I must confess that I didn’t warm up to Neelam’s character until today and I never felt the warmth that Neelam shares with her Amo before too.

numm3

Wali Bakht got a lot of time to think about what he had done. He went from being fully convinced that what he had done was right to being very sure that he owed Neelam an apology. The difference between Wali Bakht and Neelam is that Wali married Neelam because he couldn’t bear to part with all the wealth but Neelam married Wali solely for the happiness of her family. Neelam follows her heart but Wali Bakht follows his mind.

The Scene from Mahjabeen’s past was yet again beautifully shot and Sarmad Khoosat acted brilliantly.  We found out more about the plans that both of them had for the future. I am sure everyone is eagerly waiting to find out what went wrong and how.

numm5

This episode was very slow considering that the story didn’t move forward much but I really enjoyed watching it nonetheless because it was beautifully shot and also because I think this event may prove to be the tuning point in Wali and Neelam’s relationship. The mysterious background music however seemed very inappropriate in some of the scenes. The background score is definitely not as loud as it was in the first two episodes but it is still excessive for my taste.

numm2

Neelam’s mother could not help but question her decision when Neelam goes missing but as soon as she finds Neelam, the emotional blackmail starts all over again. The last scene in which Wali finally manages to “catch” Neelam and apologizes was absolutely fantastic, mainly because of Fawad Khan. I doubt that Neelam will be able to ignore that apology. Wali’s conversation with the Nun must have helped him in changing his mind too. I agree with all those people who believe that this show wouldn’t have been what is without Fawad Khan. His presence does make a huge difference.

The preview of the next episode showed that someone passed away – I am guessing that it must be Amo. How will Neelam and Mahjabeen continue to live under one roof? Will Neelam change her ways or will she still question things? (primetimetallahassee.com) Today Neelam did succeed even if the success did not last for long – her mother was forced to question the old traditions, that to me was Neelam’s success.

I wonder how many people were able to connect with the different characters today or did most of you feel like it was a very slow episode? Do share your views.

Khoya Khoya Chaand – Episode 5

0

Well,on serious note, I am unable to make up my mind to sit for another episode of this serial.Last couple of episodes have made this drama serial quite dull and boring.

Story is revolving around Angabeen and Aarib relation again and again.. or wohe Bina and farooq ka relation. While on the other side, just like last episode Aarib is making up his mind to stay away from Ahmereen but every time he come across her or just hear her voice, his nostalgia was there to haunt him.

p1

Poor Aarib’s efforts failed once again. He asked Bina for dinner and shopping. She was happy that Aarib has no issues with her and so was Aarib. And then after hearing news about Farooq, she was completely shattered. She was feeling disgusted at her own fate. It was Farooq because of which she agreed to get married to Aarib and now he is single again. Kaisai karti bardaasht phir..

As we know, our Sohai Abroo always perform to perfection  whenever it comes to sad roles.Yahan par bhi she was looking and sounding  more than perfect.

p3In this episode,we also came across of the fact that why Ahmereen and Farooq issue was given importance and was put into limelight. Mamoo jaan appeared to be such a stubborn person whereas Farooq was also considering this matter as his insult and for that he was reluctant to patch up with his ex-fiancé.

Attitude and behavior of Farooq’s mother is beyond my level of understanding. Firstly, she appeared to be detesting Ahmereen and suddenly she asked Bina’s mother for Farooq and Ahmereen’s marriage. How come ? I know that its Farooq because of whom questions were raised on Ahmereen character and Khala is feeling pity on Ahmereen ,still, it was such an abrupt change in Khala. Yahan par write up fail ho jata hai.

p2Aarib is giving his 100 percent to be a perfect husband and for that when he saw Beena sad,he asked her immediately. As soon as he came to know that his wife is sad because of her family,he asked her to go to Islamabad to meet her parents. Beena is not at all valuing her husband’s pure concern for her and she will have to pay for it very soon when Aarib will come to know about her attempts to get Farooq even after getting married.

p4How can Beena tolerate her sister as wife of the one she loved throughout her life. For that and many more, she is completely against this marriage and is making efforts to convince her parents to say a big NO to Khala g.

Next episode’s preview is sounding a bit interesting as I can smell two sisters rivalry in it.

Let’s see what happens next.

Kankar Episode 15 – Happiness Is Short-Lived

0

k1Wah Sikandar, Kya baat hai ap ke double standards ki!! I really thought that nothing that Sikandar would ever do now would come as a surprise to me but his shocking double standards became even more obvious today. The sole reason Sikandar had that argument and confrontation with Kiran was that she discussed their “personal matters” with Sikandar’s mother. Today we saw Sikandar pouring his heart out to his friend, discussing every intricate detail of his married life. Not only this but he also lets his friend call his wife “bewakoof aur haddharam” – that to me was more inappropriate than Kiran discussing anything with Shaista because Shaista is Sikandar’s mother and therefore has more of a right to intervene in what is going on in their lives, if there is a need to do so. Sikandar’s conversation with his friend proved further that he had no respect for Kiran at all.k3

The way Sikandar associates love with material things has been portrayed brilliantly. His cluelessness regarding what Kiran expects from him comes from what he has seen in his own house. His mother never demanded that kind of a respect from her husband so he doesn’t know what Kiran wants. Shaista was happy when her husband “compensated” for the abuse by showering her with gifts so why should Kiran feel any differently? Even Kiran’s mother has a completely different mindset; she thinks that her daughter should put up with everything because she is blessed with all the luxuries of life. This way of thinking is very common in out society. People very often envy girls who get married into big houses with big cars!! No one really knows what happens behind closed doors and even if people do know they still consider such girls lucky because happiness is associated with material things.

k4

I actually feel for Faiqa’s character now, just how low is this woman going to sink? When will she ever move on?  It was quite apparent from her reactions to everything that Shaista informed her about from Sikandar and Kiran’s fight to the miscarriage that she is still hoping that the marriage may not last very long. Which means that she wants even now that Arzoo will somehow end up getting married to Sikandar. Arzoo and Faiqa’s conversation after Shaista leaves went to show that although Shaista genuinely loves her sister but she feels nothing like that for her.

k5

The miscarriage incident reminded me a lot of Doraha, although I watched the play a very long time back. But I clearly remembered feeling for the mother when she lost her baby because of her husband. The way Shaista covered up for her son was very shameful, not because she didn’t tell anyone that it was because of Sikandar that Kiran lost the baby but because she kept on indirectly blaming Kiran for it. If what Sikandar was doing was so right then why was she so ashamed of telling people about it? And if it was so wrong then why did she hold Kiran responsible for it? Shaista keeps on reminding Waqar how he used to be which goes to show that she still hasn’t forgiven him but at the same time she thinks it is perfectly fine to victimize Kiran.

k7

It was rather odd that Kiran was taken to the hospital in an ambulance when there was a transport handy. Ambulances usually take so much time to arrive and if a patient can easily be taken to the hospital in a car most people will choose that option. Sikandar’s confessions of love after everything he did seemed like a mockery and rightly so too. He thinks that a trip abroad can make up for what happened and will help Kiran move on.

The preview of the next episode showed that Kiran’s father will finally take a stand for his daughter. I really hope that Aysha will not be bale to talk him out of it. Sanam Baloch’s brilliant performance throughout this play till now has made it a delight to watch. In fact Kankar is one of the very few plays on air right now in which all the actors are doing a commendable job.

Aunn Zara Episode 13 – Attention Seeking Much?

0

At last, Husna brain-stormed a little more to get the meaning right of Zara’s subliminal messages & then Zara found herself at comfort to let the secret go in front of Husna. Loved how Husna has gotten more candid with Zara now, seems like she speaks to her ‘bahu’ by coming to her level so that she can connect well with her. Zara succeeded in convincing Husna about Nighat & Jamshed but the funny & usual thing is they both still have to know that their fates have been sealed.

Our ‘be-hidayata’  & ‘athra’ Aunn has finally understood what he wants & how he wants it. That is for sure that he is the attention seeker, I mean in a sense that he has always been showered with undivided attention that even when he finally got rid of everybody else’s attention, he has certainly started to have a million issues. He wants the attention his way. Is it just me or everyone else found him comical even when he was trying his best to show all the tantrums? He hates ‘bajray di laatthi’ & even the thought of it that Zara is dissing her ‘mahiya’. When Aunn bangs the door, Husna says ‘Aunn a gaya’, it shows how much everyone has gotten hold of his attitude but no one is bothered to pay attention to him because they’re too busy praising Zara.

The hell apparently broke loose when Daadi felt ‘ona de chattay tay kisi ne sua’a paa dita’. She was just not amused with the thought of Nighat getting in a relationship with Jamshed when her own daughters have grown taller till her shoulders. Obviously, what made it more funny is that Nighat herself doesn’t know anything about it, in fact she doesn’t even has a hint of any such feelings that Zara feels Jamshed has towards her. I loved Daadi’s ‘wawela’ & how she hid herself behind her see-through dupatta just so that she can protect herself from being embarrassed in front of Husna. I feel that bit was definitely something Daadi did on her own because it came out as so natural & looked like a perfect move at the spur of a moment. She is such a brilliant Punjabi daadi & I love her.

Aunn for sure has been thinking through the situation thoroughly & he feels there’s a dire need to steal Zara away from everyone so that he can actually get his marital life grooving. Even though Manzar dissed the ‘bhaandh’, Aunn is persistent & knows what he is doing because without any help & support, he has his plan ready. I feel everyone is underestimating Aunn’s intelligence & his trouble stirring prowess. The whole ‘Haw Haye’ scene at the table by Daadi was such an enjoyable one where Husna felt she was being targeting & things got out of Aunn’s hands just because Zara chose to stay silent. Aunn for sure is trying to snatch Zara away but then he is so considerate that he felt bad seeing Zara frowning because of her awkwardness. No matter what Zara does, Aunn will be Aunn for every single member of the family & that was proved just because he posed having a stomach ache & what topped his sympathy more was ‘chai mai biscuit dubo dubo k kha loonga’, I mean a married guy eating biscuits…Whoa! That’s a no no in front of everyone.

On Nighat & Jamshed situation only one quote fits well right now i-e ‘the funny thing about rumor is that you get to know things which you don’t even know about yourself’. That’s the case here with both of them, where they both were gone to meet their friends, Zara still found her ways to confirm things which Nighat didn’t know about because as per Husna ‘larka larki akele nahi hote, unke beech shaitaan hota hai’. Zara could have died of a stroke when she thought Nighat was at Jamshed’s place all alone but Nighat made things a bit more explanatory & too difficult for Zara to grasp when she sang ‘hum tum ek kamre mai band hon’. LOL!

Over all & as usual the episode was amazing & I am glad that Aunn just didn’t stoop to negativity which I thought he would. He is for sure getting furious day by day but still his character is too cute to feel bad about. I loved how he hid behind the pillow when he taunted Zara for not being a Cinderella. That was a perfect end to yet another perfect episode. I just can’t wait to see Nighat’s reaction when Daada Jaan would come asking for her proposal for Jamshed. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Kadurat Episode 09 – Interesting Developments

0

The story definitely took a big leap forward in this latest episode and the “pattern” that was being followed till now was broken. Mina’s decision to patch things up with Asad may just have a very positive impact on her life. For now she maybe staging everything to win Asad’s confidence but gradually when he starts giving her the love and attention she has been looking for, she might just change for good. But then Asad’s new secretary may prove to be a threat; I find Asad’s interest in his secretary off putting perhaps because I don’t like her at all. Her confidence and khuddari hasn’t appealed to me one bit till now. The character could have been very impressive if it was being played by someone else.

Shaheen’s efforts seem to be bearing fruit. It is quite apparent that Mahmood will not be falling for Shaheen anytime soon but Atiqa feels insecure because of Shaheen’s behavior. The confrontation between Shaheen and Atiqa went to show that Atiqa will do anything to keep Shaheen away from her husband; I am waiting to find out what she is capable of doing because until now she seems like a very harmless person.

kadurat2

The mystery regarding Mina’s sessions with the psychiatrist was solved today too. The viewers were wondering whether the psychiatrist actually was falling for Mina’s lies or he knew that she was only making up stories. How is the psychiatrist going to deal with Mina now that he knows that she was telling lies? Until now he has been confused but I must say that he took a great deal of time to talk to someone in the family in order to clear this confusion. The psychiatrist has not been able to help Mina in any way at all apart from helping her vent out her anger.

                                 kadurat6kadurat7

This episode did not revolve around Mina alone like all the previous episodes. An equal amount of time was given to Shaheen and Asad’s track. For a change the latest developments in the Shaheen/Mahmood track have made it more engaging but I could happily fast forward the scenes with Asad and Asma in them. Just like Daniyal and Alina’s romance, this new relationship has absolutely no charm.

kadurat1

Despite of everything that Mina has done till now, I still feel for her character and hold her father responsible for her condition. Even today what Mahmood says today after hitting her was very wrong. This episode was much more entertaining than the last one. I hope that the show moves in the right direction now that the pattern of Mina’s adventures has been broken for some time. Right now, I am more interested in finding out how Atiqa teaches Shaheen a lesson. I have a feeling that there might just be trouble ahead for Atiqa and Mahmood. Sanam Saeed like all the other episodes was the star of the show even today. She has added small touches to this character that makes it stand out.

Best OST’s Nowadays

0

Original Song Tune (OST) is an integral part of any show. A unique title song for every show emerged as a trend a few years back, and now a show seems incomplete without its OST. There are countless number of OST’s of shows that I absolutely love, and though the shows have ended, the OST’s will always be cherished. A few shows whose OST’s will always be remembered include names like Dastaan, Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Mastana Mahi, Shehr-e-Zaat and the list goes on.

If I start naming OST’s of all the shows that aired in the past, then it will be a never ending list. So, I am going to stick with the OST’s of current shows that I simply adore and are a pleasure to hear.

Here are the names of a few OSTs:

numm

The OST that tops my list of favorites nowadays is the OST of the show Numm. I have always liked slow and melodious tunes and ‘Mumkin Hai…’ fits perfectly in this criterion. It has the most unique poetry as it lyrics which were penned down by the director Ahsan Talish himself, and the composition is done by Muhammad Agha. It is sung by Faiza Mujahid who gained fame from her song ‘Bandya Ho’ from the movie Khuda Ke Liye.

darmiyaan

The OST that comes 2nd in my list is the OST of the show Darmiyaan airing on ARY Digital. ‘Khalish aur Khushi Ke Darmiyaan…’ is sung by the very famous Nabeel  Shaukat Ali who won the singing reality show Sur-kshetra . The song is brilliantly composed by Sahir Ali Bagga and makes you want to sing along.

mujhe

The 3rd in my list is the OST of the show Mujhe Khuda Pe Yaqeen Hai airing on Hum TV. ‘Jalta Asman Sulagti Zameen Meri…’ has a very emotional touch to it which reaches one’s heart. It is sung by Shariar Tiwana and written by Asad Ali Shah.

kankar

The 4th in my list is ‘Yeh Sheesha Dil Maskan Tera’ from the show Kankar. It is sung by my favorite singer Alycia Dias and written by Fatima Najeeb. The composition is of Waqar Ali, the most oldest and popular composer. He has given countless hit OST’s over the years of shows like Humsafar, Mata-e-Jaan, Talkiyaan and many more.

aasmanon

The 5th in my list is the OST of the upcoming show on Geo, ‘Aasmanon Pe Likha’. The OST got very popular when the promos went on air, and the full version was recently released over the internet because of the high pubic demand for the OST. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful and the composition is superb.  It is truly an OST you will fall in love with!

meri zindagi

The 6th position is taken by the OST of the upcoming show on Geo, Zindagi Hai Tu. It is a very soft and soothing song which will be a treat for the listeners. I liked the song when I heard it in the promos and now when the full version released, I realized that it was better than I first thought. One song I will definitely recommend everyone to listen.

kadurat

On the 7th number comes the OST of Kadurat which is an intense song and Shaibi has done a very good job with the composition. The lyrics are written by Sabir Zafar, and voice is lent by the singer Saima.

kabhi kabhi

Kabhi Kabhi is an upcoming show on ARY and its OST ranks on the 8th position in my list. The OST has a very unique tune and composition and is sung by none other than Alycia Dias. A very beautiful OST in my opinion and a must listen for everyone.

khoya khoya

The 9th on my list is the OST of Khoya Khoya Chand which has a faster ring to it. I personally think it is a song more apt for a movie. It is written and composed by Sohail Haider and sung by Dua Malik and Ahsan Khan.

ranj e aashnai

Ranj-e-Ashnai is the show airing on A-plus and its OST ranks on the 10th number in my list. It is a different OST which a Punjabi touch to it which makes it stand out from the rest. The OST is beautifully sung by Fariha Parvez and Sahir Ali Bagga. Fariha Parvez is another one of my favorite singers and she has a certain talent for singing Punjabi songs. She has previously sung OSTs of Main Guneghar Nahi and Teri Rah Mein Rul Gai Way.

Feel free to add to the list!

For all those who dont know about Bigg Boss.Let me give you a brief introduction of this reality show.Indian,Pakistani and Hollywood Celebrities are heavily paid to participate in this show every year, they have to spend 90 days in a very cool and cozy house of Bigg Boss where they will get commands and instructions by invisible person BIG BOSS. I have seen common trend in all bigg boss seasons that fights and planning ,plotting usually starts when one or few members of Big boss want to take complete charge of kitchen.Members are also given with luxury budget tasks with the help of which they are able to get any luxury edible item they want to have from the list given by Bigg Boss. Secret tasks are one of the interesting part of Bigg Boss house.

UntitledOur very own controversial queen Miss Veena Malick also got famous in Bollywood while living in Bigg Boss house and having an affair with Bollywood actor and model Ashmit Patel. For me, all those stars who are not getting any role in any of serials, movies or not asked by any modelling agency should take part in Bigg boss,if lucky enough to be asked out by Bigg Boss creators to take part.

This time Salman Khan will be the host again and he will be doing double role. He will be an Angel on one side and a Shaitaan at another end too. It has also been said that 7 contestants from previous 6 seasons and other new contestants will have a competition this time. If this would happen than TRP of show will attain new heights.

No matter what, I am a really big fan of Bigg Boss and really looking forward to it.

Mere Humrahi Episode 5 – The Wedding!

0

So the wedding finally happened this week. That was sure a long wait for the viewers who had been waiting for the wedding since the past 4 episodes. Once again I found the episode a bit dragged with the whole wedding and the never ending rituals.

photo(11)Till the last minute, Haaniyah was waiting for Ahad to come back. She might have agreed to marry Ahmed, but she is not going to forget Ahad anytime soon. It is going to take a long time for her to adjust to this new situation. Ahmed and Haaniyah both were feeling awkward in each other’s company as it was clearly seen during the wedding and in their bedroom later on. Though Ahmed did try to act normal but Haaniyah barely looked at him and tried her best to maintain distance. I personally would have preferred if they had shown some interaction between Ahmed and Haaniyah when Haaniyah was about to get married to Ahad. I was expecting the scene from the promo to be shown where Ahmed asks Haaniyah to find a bride for her, but the scene was most probably edited out. I could barely relate with their scenes because I did not know what equation they shared with each other before marriage.

photo(14)I was also expecting to see the ring scene from the promo, but that too was not shown. After seeing how uncomfortable Haaniyah was, Ahmed decided not to give her the wedding ring just now. I hope he gives her the ring in the future when Haaniyah has come to terms with the situation.

They also showed people’s reaction when they saw Ahmed in place of Ahad on the stage and the two families reluctance to answer their questions. I am glad they showed these scenes because it would have been completely illogical for people not to notice such a big change. That would have been a huge loophole in the story.

photo(10)There were two scenes which I really liked in this episode. First was the one in which Ahmed gives Haaniyah his hand to help her out of the car. The second was the one in which he feed her kheer to do the rasam. Soniya Hussain did not have many dialogues in this episode but she still managed to convey her feelings well through her expressions in some scenes. In other scenes, she had that stoned expression with the resigned look on her face. She looked absolutely lovely in the wedding dress she had adorned. Even Fahad Mustafa did a wonderful job as Ahmed, his expressions during the whole wedding and then later was spot on.

photo(13)It is going to be interesting to watch how Ahmed and Haaniyah both adjust to the new situation and what will be Haaniyah’s reaction once Ahad comes back in the house. We will see him returning back to the house very soon.  We can expect some violent reaction from him after seeing Haaniyah as his brother’s wife.

They really need to progress the story now! It took 4 episodes for one day to finish; I hope we do not have to wait another four weeks for the next day to get over. The story has a lot of potential and from the spoilers I have seen so far, there are a lot of interesting sequences coming up in the show. I hope our patience would be rewarded soon and we would see some progress in the storyline.

Do share your views about the episode!

Till Next Week

Rishtey Kuch Adoorai Sai ( Arsal’s wife – Gaiti or Kiran? )

Every episode of this serial comes up with twists and turns. This time ,it was the basic theme around which episode revolved.

Thoughts of returning back to home were continuously pinching in Gaiti’s mind. Even when Rahat Fateh arrived at the venue of auditions ,Gaiti was reluctant to meet him and was eagerly waiting to go back home. This depicted her concern for her family rather than her selfish, self centered and self concerned attitude towards her life. She knew that its not only about her. When it comes toher  life, its also about people associated to her. Keeping this in mind and many more, she shouted at Kiran’s friend and ask her to drop her home right now.

Slide1On the other side, Gaiti’s mother was so much confused and tensed by the situation and she asked Kiran to take Gaiti’s place til Gaiti reaches home.It wasnt her plan that Kiran will remain there even for Nikah. All she was thinking is that as soon as Gaiti will return back, she will take Kiran’s place and everyone will remain unaware of the situation.Poor Gaiti  was unable to make it in time. And Kiran was the one who got wed-locked with Arsal but the name taken was of Gaiti.

Slide2

And when Gaiti came back, this whole scenario became an unsolved enigma for her. After that , this Nikah issue was stretched too much.I became sick and tired of watching lame face of Kiran , questioning eyes of Gaiti and her mother feeling sorry for what she had done.

I always get surprised by Gaiti’s father concern for his daughters and Gaiti was right that what would have done by her father if he came to know that she wasnt home.. Atleast ye sab jo hua ye tou na hota..

Slide3This Nikah thingee is not done and has to be done again as far as my knowledge of Nikah is concerned.I mean, no one is wedlocked with Arsal, neither Geeti nor Kiran.

Overall episode was yet again a well packaged except for that prolonged scene of Gaiti’s questions.Once again Isra ge have performed really well while I hated Alia today.Atleast she should be happy at her brother’s Nikah.

Next week’s preview was really interesting to watch as Gaiti will now ask Arsal for Nikah again. One point that got stuck in my mind was that Alia received a letter. Was it a letter for Arsal from Gaitai or were they divorce papers from Alia’s husband?

Fawad Khan – Some interesting similarities

0

Fawad Khan needs no introduction a superstar of our country having a huge fan following.
This article is on some of the similarities observed in the roles, story and cast of dramas Fawad has worked in.
Doosri Aurat (The other lady)
“Doosri Aurat” is a popular phenomenon in our dramas and films; this character is typically interested in the hero and steps in between romance or marriage of lead couple of drama. It is a tried and tested recipe which mostly adds spice in a drama or film. Interestingly almost in all dramas of Fawad there is a “Doosri Aurat”, between Fawad and her lead female cast. In some dramas, this “doosri aurat” has been successful in settling with Fawad, or failed in her intentions, or settled as a second wife.
Let’s glance through each drama serial of Fawad on different channels to locate this “Doosri Aurat”.

fkk

HUM TV
Dastaan: Fawad Khan (Hasan) and Sanam Baloch (Bano) were in lead roles, Mehreen Raheel (Rabia) comes in the life of Fawad ended up marrying Mehreen.
• Akbari Asghari: Fawad Khan (Asghar) and Sanam Baloch (Akbari/Becky) are married, but Kiran Haq (Shabbo) also loves Fawad and tries to seduce Fawad to end his marriage.
• Humsafar: Fawad Khan (Ashar) and Mahira Khan (Khirad) are happily married, but Naveen Waqar (Sara) is also madly in love with Fawad and makes full effort to set both Fawad and Mahira apart.
• Zindagi Gulzar Hai: Fawad Khan (Zaroon) and Sanam Saeed (Kashf) are in lead roles, while Mehreen Raheel (Asmara) was an ex fiancé of Fawad, and her return stirs married life of Fawad and Sanam.
ARY Digital
• Kuch Pyar Ka Pagal Pan: Fawad Khan (Mujtaba) and Aisha Khan (Denize) were married, but Sanam Baloch (Kiran), Fawad’s ex fiancé, want to take revenge from Fawad, by raising misunderstandings between Fawad and Aisha with the help of Meekal Zulfiqar (Shamraiz) who was cousin of Aisha Khan in drama.

fawad khan (2)

Geo TV

• Ashk: Fawad Khan (Rohail) and Neelum Munir (Zaibunnisa/Zebu) are the lead pair while Mehreen Raheel (Madiha) is Fawad’s friend who also wants him to divorce Neelum and marry her. This drama was unique as there was also a role of third lady (perhaps “teesri aurat”) with Fawad which was played by Resham (Mehrunnisa/Mehru)

• Numm: Fawad Khan (Wali Bakht) and Sania Saeed (Mahjabeen) are married, it is a forced marriage due to some feudal customs where Sania is quite elder than Fawad. Later Fawad marries Kinza Wyne (Neelum) as his second wife.

Mehreen Raheel:

Mehreen Raheel is another similarity in dramas of Fawad Khan. She is the most hit “Doosri Aurat” for Fawad and appeared thrice in such role (most by any actress) in Dastaan and Zindagi Gulzar Hai on HUM TV and Ashk on Geo TV. Mehreen is portrayed as an ardent lover of Fawad in all these dramas.

Sanam Baloch:

To some extent Sanam Baloch can be considered as another similarity in Fawad’s dramas too, she has played the lead role against Fawad most number of times than any other actress. In Dastaan and Akbari Asghari on Hum TV they were in lead roles while in Kuch Pyar ka Pagal Pan on ARY Digital she was initially heroine of Fawad but later she also transforms into character of “Doosri Aurat”.
Please do share your thoughts regarding any similarities in Fawad Khan dramas.

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Episode 05.

Finally the moment has arrived that the story has moved from the present to the past. The misunderstanding that we all have been waiting for is going to unveil soon & I feel the drama has actually began now with a great kick.

So many things got clear today & I enjoyed watching the drama for the first time. Didn’t see much of the flaws as they tried to cover the past by merging it with the present appropriately. It was actually saddening to see Arham being a happy, content person because now what he has become is absolutely opposite to whom he was. Arham looked like a man of substance & devotion till he got rid of his own personality just to make Narmeen happy. Narmeen played her way into their family very cleverly by literally showering her feelings on Arham & her mother was supportive of the idea as well but what I just couldn’t digest were the little conversations they had about one’s personal beliefs. ‘Deen mai darhi, darhi mai deen nahi’ reminded me so much…in fact only of the movie Khuda Kay Liye, but the context was different this time. Arham actually liked showing what he believed in as he was not fishing for a disguise of innocence or religion behind the beard. He liked carrying what he felt & believed in but Alas! Narmeen changed it all for him.

The looks Shakeel & Narmeen shared in the promos were some mystery to me but now I got hold of the situation pretty well. It was interesting to know that Shakeel didn’t approve of Narmeen for Arham as he thought she was bold & this is why Shakeel seemed uncomfortable during their engagement ceremony. I actually disliked seeing Arham change completely for Narmeen where he took her out for a date etc. It just showed that he has was a shallow person who had no ideas of his own & just wanted to please someone who just once confronted him about his lifestyle & choices.

Coming to the present, Narmeen’s mother actually stirred a lie saying Shahiq hit her, I mean before blaming her mother it is actually Narmeen who should be blamed. She is one of those who can never be satisfied or be happy in life because when she got a caring partner like Arham who turned everything upside down to make her happy, she got over him & later she got Shahiq again according to her will, she is ready to ruin his life too just because she doesn’t know how to be happy. Shakeel saw the right moment & spoke about Arham & Areeba’s wedding. I really liked how he shunned Narmeen & told her that she ain’t the decision maker of the family.

I hated seeing Shakeel turn against Arham because seems like he loves him a little too much. He was furious when Arham changed his lifestyle because he was actually proud of who he was & loved him out of respect for his feelings towards being a practicing Muslim. He was furious for the unknown reason which turned him against Arham once again, I feel Shakeel loved him completely but failed to understand his own son.

The episode was a reasonable one out of the total 5 that we have seen till now. I am liking the past phase of the drama & want to see more of how things changed once Narmeen walked into this family.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Aseer Zadi Episode 4 – Review

0

I found the episode a bit slow and dull this week, maybe because I am used to the constant electrifying and extremely engaging scenes in this show. The story is progressing on a steady pace though, and a few developments occurred in the episode this week.

photo(22)Maira, after being emotionally blackmailed by her parents, agreed to the marriage. She had no intention of marrying Peer Shahab as she was interested in her cousin Bilal, but had to given in when her father pointed fingers at her character. I believe her father crossed his limits by accusing her of a grave deed which he knew in his heart that she would never commit. What was more shocking is that in the end, he just casually laughed it off by stating that he had said it in anger. For a parent, the child’s happiness should be of paramount importance and if Maira was not happy with the marriage, then he had no right to force her. For Maira’s father, Peer Jalal words are the law, and he did want to disappoint him again as he had been given a last chance to rectify his mistake.

photo(18)Bilal dug a pit for himself by contacting Badi Sarkar in the hope that she would help unite him and Maira. It did not take much time for Badi Sarkar to put false allegations on Bilal, and put him behind the bars. After getting to know that he is the reason why Maira said no for the marriage and insulted her, she would have never spared him as she never forgets an insult. I truly felt bad for the innocent Bilal who became the target of Badi Sarkar’s wrath. He would not be able to get out of the situation easily after the papers he had signed.

photo(19)Badi Sarkar never loses a challenge, and she took Amna’s words as a challenge when she announced the wedding date in front of her brother. Amna wanted to humiliate her, but she herself got humiliated in the process. Badi Sarkar was determined to get Shahab married on that exact same date and accomplished her goal very easily. The aura and power that she emits is truly awe-inspiring. She seems like a truly indestructible force who can turn the events in her favor by a simple snap of her fingers.

photo(20)Fatima is the spitting image of Badi Sarkar with her cunning ways, and her habit of getting her way by any means possible. It was made obvious in the first episode that she enjoys humiliating and degrading people and she has mastered the art of manipulating Badi Sarkar. Badi Sarkar may be the most vicious and cunning woman, but even she falls for Fatima’s trap every time. Fatima happens to be the most favored person of Badi Sarkar and the asli bahu of the Haveli. Badi Sarkar wants her to rule the Haveli just like her by marrying her to Shahab for the third time. I am still unable to grasp this concept of the third wife being the real wife and the mother of the heir. It just does not make sense to me. I sincerely hope Maira breaks this tradition!

So far, every actor in this show is performing up to mark. Sania Shamshad is looking quite convincing in her negative character which is a huge contrast from her character in Rehaai. She is a new comer in the industry and is already proving her versatility. I have never really liked Ainnie Jafferi’s acting but I must admit that she has improved a lot now.

The preview of the next episode seems interesting. Maira is surely in for a tough time now. She made the grave mistake of messing with Badi Sarkar, and now she will definitely pay the price. But on the bright side, it seems that Shahab will support her and save her from Badi Sarkar’s wrath.

Do share your opinion about the episode as I would love to read them!

Till Next Week

Khoya Khoya Chand – Episode 4

0

This week’s episode had so much to ponder upon.First and foremost, the relation of Aaarib and Angabeen and secondly Ahmereen and Farooq’s issue.

Firstly,I would like to put Angabeen and Aarib relation into limelight. Angabeen is wholly and solely trying to make her relation stout with Aarib. She is giving her best to give Aarib a glance that this relation can be as much sturdy and strong as any couple’s relation. On the other hand, everytime she tries to move one step ahead of her current situation, she gets badly seized by those memories of Farooq that left a mark on her mind for lifetime.

Aarib is equally giving an effort to extract the best aspects out of him for Angabeen. As for him,Angabeen is a pure sole and she deserves to be loved and cared. His solicitude ,always leaves Beena in an uncomfortable situation because according to her,she is not doing justice to Aarib’s soulful emotions.

There are many Aarib and Angabeen in our society who are married and are forcefully put into such situations. All they have to do is just to forget the past and move on with life. Never curse yourself for what you have done in past because your past can’t come back. A person only ruins his present by abhorring and detesting himself for his past. Past is past , you can’t change it. Try to face the reality. I know it would be difficult in the  beginning. Try to convince yourself that you have to live with it and if this is your fate than why not accepting it and welcoming it with gratitude ?  Once you are done with accepting the fact, life will be no more a series of disgust for you.

Coming to Ahmereen and Farooq’s relation, they are good buddies and more than that they are cousins. But keeping the scenario in mind, they come from a generation where a girl and a boy’s ultra-frank attitude towards each other is not at all considered to be vicious. Similarly, their parents and other elders came from a generation where moral values and ethics are there life time achievement.

Now for our generation, this point was lame that how can an engagement be broken up for this reason that they are good buddies. But seriously, every fiancé is over protective about one’s partner and what Farooq’s fiancé did was not at all new. Par engagement torr daina was not a sensible act.

His to be father-in-law- could have listened to what they wanted to explain but he did not. Now, Ahmereen will be considered as culprit of whole stance.

Preview of next episode was really interesting as Beena will now attempt to contact Farooq again. What will be the future of Aarib and Beena’s relation? To know this and many more, keep on reading.

Shehzad Roy to Perform in Los Angeles for Education Awareness

0

Pakistani singer and social worker Shehzad Roy is back with a cause. Since a long time after establishing himself as a successful pop singer within the country, he started to spend more of his wealth and concern for the welfare of the society, considering education as the foremost important thing.

As per his plans of spreading awareness and collecting funds for his organization, Shehzad Roy will soon be performing with one of the most prominent US bands, the Guns ‘N’ Roses in Los Angeles.

Excited about the move, Roy said:

“It’s a big honor to perform with such names. Guns N’ Roses is the number one band in US. [Sadly], Pakistan is known internationally to export other items however, this is something different and way beyond it,”

On the other hand, Storum is delighted about their upcoming venture and shared:

“I feel this collaboration is a solid step towards building bridges of peace between the East and West. Music is the universal language of humanity. If Shehzad and I can join hands to help children, then maybe others will join us in a global effort to educate younger generations about each other’s cultures,”

Shehzad Roy enjoyed a huge applause for his initiated ‘Chal Parha’ program which he started with the collaboration of Geo TV but much to surprise; Roy will not be performing his latest song in the Music Gala, but will be performing a new song called Land of pure.

We wish him all the very best for his future endeavors.

Blessings,

Woh Episode 02 – The Demon Fights Back!

0

The best thing about this second episode was that I could totally feel the paranormal activity in Mehr’s house and everywhere she went. This latest episode established the fact that the demon that has overtaken Mehr is very powerful. It will ruin anything or anyone who tries to destroy it. The “Allah ka banda” who provided Mehr’s mother with the antidote was hunted down by the demon because it was very apparent that whatever he suggests that Mehr’s mother should do really was working. In this episode Mehr seemed more like a real person and not someone who was possessed. Her eyes had more life in them whereas in the last episode she didn’t seem like a living person at all. In the last episode, it was almost as if Mehr had completely been overtaken by the demon but in this one she was scared of the strange happenings around her. Sadly, Mehr’s mother could not follow the instructions till the end because of the interference of the demon. Right at the time when she is about to take the final step she is interrupted, which means that the demon is bound to retaliate even more aggressively now.

woh1

The scary scenes in tonight’s episode were more suggestive; we didn’t get to see any real ghosts or demons but whatever was shown was convincing enough. If you watch this drama late at night and no one is around , you will most certainly look around you many times to ensure that you really are alone!!! That to me is the success of this play till now. I have seen many documentaries which show people who are possessed and I have to say that the way the mystery man was killed was shot in the exact same way as the documentaries on National geographic. The acting, direction and the timing was absolutely perfect. The sounds and the music in the background as well was perfect throughout this episode.

woh5

I must say that there were a few times when I felt like scenes were a little dragged like for example the scene in which Mehr’s bhabi wakes up in the middle of the night would have been much better if it was slightly shorter.

Surraiya, Ruqaiya’s nosy friend was very apprehensive about Mehr’s condition, her family and everything else but it was actually very good to see that Faisal talked to his mother immediately. The bond that these two share has been portrayed beautifully, in fact all the characters and their relationship with each other has been shown very nicely. After watching these two episodes, most viewers will be able to relate to every single character in the play and will be able to feel what they are going through.

woh7

Woh till now seems to be a very good product of team effort. All the actors are very well suited for their respective roles, the attention that the director has paid to minor details shows in every single scene and the plot is very convincing. Making a horror drama or film is not an easy job at all; I think making quality comedy and horror plays is tougher than making a regular drama. It is really good to know that there are still creative people in our industry who are not scared of experimenting with new ideas. Sticking with the formula that is being followed by most writers and producers is so easy because it seems to work like a charm every time. The team of Woh deserves special appreciation for taking this bold initiative and doing very well too. The fact that this play will be a short mini serial is also very promising because most of the plays lose their charm when they are dragged without end. How many of you are following this show? Those of you who like Mystery and horror should definitely give this play a go; I assure you that you will be pleasantly surprised.

More excitingly, the world premiere of the said movie was also arranged in Toronto, Canada before its official release in Pakistan and the Canadians appreciated the work and found the Pakistani content interesting.

ishq-e-Khuda-4

The entire team is delighted with the news and would soon be leaving for Norway to find new goals for the movie which had to face a tough competition within country soon after its release.

Meera, who played the lead in the movie ‘Ishq Khuda’ declared the venture as the best movie of her career and despite of the statement she passed that the movie would be her last film, Meera is enthusiastic again to do more films after the success the movie has earned.

It is certainly a pleasure to see our Lollywood movies sustaining the pressure and earning good ratings not only in Pakistan but all over the world.

Darmiyan Episode 4- Aliya makes her entry!

0

In this episode, Aliya made her entry into Raheel’s house but before stepping into his house as a nanny to his kids, she had to have a good impression. Aliya can go to any limits to get revenge from Raheel. I do understand that she and her family have gone through a lot and Raheel not only ruined Farishtay’s life but the whole family but the question is ‘Is it justified for her to get revenge?’ In my opinion, it is not justified for her to get revenge because panchon ungliyaan barabar nahin hoti. She herself has seen how one feels when a family gets ruined yet she’s doing what happened to her family to another family. I know that she’s ruining the family of the person who ruined her family but she still shouldn’t do that and wait for Allah to get back to Raheel.

Nida tells Raheel about the famous baba and tells him that she wants to get her palm read by him. Raheel tells her that he doesn’t want to go but Nida still takes him with her. The baba telling her that her happiness is not going to stay long is a reflection of what is going to happen in the future. I myself do not believe in palm reading and the baba was telling her to spend more in Allah’s way yet he doesn’t know that palm reading is a sin. Nida also has a nightmare that night and this again is a reflection of what is going to happen in the future.

d5

Aliya goes sees Hassan(Raheel’s son) in the school and gives him chocolate. Haniya(Raheel’s daughter) sees Aliya giving Hassan chocolate so she calls him. Aliya tells Aafaq(we still don’t know how he is related to Aliya) to kidnap Hassan and Aafaq does so very smartly. He takes Hassan to the play land and to the mall while a worried Raheel and Nida try to find their lost son.

d1

Aliya takes Hassan home at night and becomes a farishta for Nida and her family. She introduces herself as Alina and tells Nida that she’s alone and has come to Karachi to search for a job. Nida thinks that Aliya would be the perfect caretaker of her kids. The next day Aliya goes to her house for the job and Nida is surprised to see her. She tells Raheel to guess who she is and Raheel says he knows who she is. Aliya gets worried thinking that Raheel has recognized her even after 15 years.

Overall, the episode was interesting and entertaining. Everyone acted really well including the child artists. The promo for the next episode seems interesting because Haniya tells her parents that her(Aliya’s) name is not Alina and she saw her giving chocolate to Hassan in school. Let’s see how Haniya finds out that Alina is not Aliya’s real name and if her parents believe her. Can’t wait for the next episode!

‘One Pound Fish’ Man’s Arrest Warrant released!

0

Shahid Nazir, who is well-known for his crazy track ‘One pound fish’ is going through a bad phase of his life where his popularity seems to turn into a bad name which is lately brought to him for not paying his loans and for that, his arrest warrants are been issued last Friday.

Often known for his song which received much of the recognition in UK, Shahid Nazir turn into a celebrity overnight where all the Pakistanis seemed proud of him for spreading his talent in UK and making his country shine in the field of singing and music. Soon after his prominence in UK, he was also seen in endorsements and Ads by big companies like PTCL.

download (2)

As per the reports revealed yet, Shahid took a loan of Rs. 6.6 Million from a private company in Lahore which he failed to pay at all. Due to his non-payment, the Lahore court has released his arrest warrant on the request of the victim company.

The news is really more than a shock for his fans who are disappointed with the fact that their once-liked-‘One pound Fish’ man is not following the legal ties he once agreed to follow. Shahid, however, has not passed any remarks over the issue which is too adding more spice in the hot air revolving around the matter.

We hope that Shahid Nazir deals with the matter as per the rules of the nation and clear his dues which are unpaid according to the terms and conditions he signed.

Fawad Afzal Khan Is Doing The Bollywood Flick!

0

It was recently rumored that Fawad Afzal Khan might make his entry in the world of Bollywood. But now it has been confirmed that Fawad Afzal Khan will be seen in a Bollywood flick pretty soon

This news was reported a few days back:

Fawad Afzal Khan has already left to shoot his Bollywood movie. He was offered a role in Bin Roe Aansu, but rejected it due to his Bollywood commitments. After he returns from his shooting for the Bollywood movie, he will start shooting for the upcoming Pakistani movie by Sultana Siddiqui

It has been a few days since he left to shoot his Bollywood movie. So, most probably we would not see him on the Television for at least a year or so. But the good news is that he will come back and shoot for the untitled movie produced by Sultana Siddiqui, which has been in news for quite some time now. Previously, it was in the news that Humayun Saeed has been casted instead, but that turned out to be a rumor. Following the lead of Humayun Saeed, Zeba Bakhtiar and many other big budgeted movie producers in town; now Sultana Siddiqui will also invest in a movie with a grand cast whose male lead has been finalized as Fawad Afzal Khan. Sultana Siddiqui is still searching for the female lead and hopefully, she will also get finalized very soon. It has also been in the news that the shooting of her movie will be held in Malaysia.

Fans have been enraged as to why Fawad Afzal Khan was not casted for Bin Roye Aansu since its cast has been revealed. There was a lot of hue and cry by fans for not casting their favorite leads of ‘Humsafar’ together. Well, now they have the answer to their question. He had his dates filed with his upcoming Bollywood movie, and that is the reason why he could not take up the show.

In the meantime, Fawad Afzal Khan would also be seen in The Green Star Charity Fund Raiser this Eid in London. There will be a huge event on the 20th October, 2013, and he will be accompanied by stars like Sajjad Ali, Qurait-ul-ain Baloch, Shafqat Amanat Ali and Umer Sharif. Fawad Khan has always been an active participant in charities, and we hope that this event will also be a huge success!

photo(9)The downside of this news is that we would not get to see Fawad on Television for at least a year or two, but the upside is that he is not going anywhere, and will be seen in Sultana Siddiqui’s movie next! The revival of Pakistani cinema has just started; after the success of Main Hoon Shahid Afridi, it has been heard that Humayun Saeed is looking at three more scripts and is planning to return with more movies that will be a notch higher than Main Hoon Shahid Afridi!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Numm Episode 03 – Mystery Solved?

0

Yes, Neelam did seem to have everyone wrapped around her little finger all through tonight’s episode; the thought crossed my mind few minutes after the play started and even before Neelam said so herself. Her “adventurous” nature coupled with her my way or the highway attitude has certainly given Wali Bakht something to worry about. Everything that Neelam does goes to show that she will leave no stone unturned to make Sikandar  Bakht regret the day he got his grandson married to her but Sikandar Bakht does not let Neelam’s attitude effect him in any way; he is cool and calm because he probably knows that eventually Neelam will become a part of the haveli as well as the system!

numm6

The first scene was very well directed and acted out. Kanza Wyne did very well in that scene but when she starts screaming in the scenes that followed, I really felt like she could have done better. Neelam hates the fact that she was married off to Wali Bakht solely because the elders of the family decided many years back that the two were meant to be together but at the same time her hatred for Mahjabeen goes to show that she wants Wali Bakht all to herself and that may be the primary reason for not getting closer to Wali Bakht. Yes, Neelam isn’t actually warming up to anyone in the family but her hatred for Mahjabeen is more obvious than for anyone else. The scene in which she tells the maid to seek her approval before going ahead with things also showed that she has a major issue with Mahjabeen, although Bare Sahab told her clearly that there was no comparison between her and Mahjabeen but she cannot ignore the fact that Mahjabeen is Wali Bakht’s wife and also the woman who has raised him and has been running the house for a very long time. Neelam came across as a very typical girl today because of this side if her personality.

numm4

We found out a little bit more about Mahjabeen’s past today and I am sure much more will be revealed later on. Mahjabeen like any other girl fell in love a long time back but ended up leading a life which she had never even imagined. Sarmad Khoosat’s guest appearance was a nice surprise and that particular scene was also very well directed. The location was perfect and so was the lighting and the entire atmosphere. This scene was very important because it hinted towards how Mahjbaeen ended up becoming a victim of the custom of Vaani.  Mahjabeen’s brother or father must have seen them both together and one of them murdered Wali’s uncle (the man she was with). Wali Bakht’s father went to avenge his brother’s murder but he was killed too and as a result Mahjabeen was given as Vanni to Wali Bakht. This of course is just an assumption on my part, I could be wrong. Mahjabeen does not want to be a part of Wali Bakht’s life any longer for obvious reasons but Bare Sahab feels that she is still needed in the haveli because Neelam is still very young – how young is she by the way! I am waiting to find out more about her past and am also hoping that we will be seen some more flashbacks because knowing more about her past will help the viewers relate to her character and feel for her. Sania Saeed ‘s acting was simple flawless in tonight’s episode; seeing more of her definitely was a pleasure.

numm7The conversation between Neelam and Sikandar Bakht was the highlight of tonight’s episode for me. The dialogues were very meaningful and the contrast in their personalities has been depicted wonderfully. Apart from that the tactful manner in which Sikandar Bakht “handles” Neelam is actually very  amusing. On one hand Neelam thinks that she will turn the world around and on the other hand Bare Sahad is very confident that nothing like that will ever happen. Usman Peerzada is brilliant as the self assured Bare Sahab, I have never liked him better in any other character.

numm2

Wali Bakht tries his best to put up with Neelam’s attitude but when he finally decides to talk to her about the way things were, he ends up doing something which I think he will regret later on. How will Neelam react to the physical abuse, I am waiting to find out. Will she finally accept the situation or retaliate even more? The preview for the next episode showed that Neelam leaves the haveli. Will Wali Bakht apologize for his behavior? Fawad Khan portrayed Wali Bakht’s helplessness and annoyance superbly. I would really like to see Wali Bakht and Mahjabeen interact more often because we still don’t know if there is something more between them then what appears at the surface. If Mahjabeen brought Wali up surely he must have some respect in his heart for her if not love.

numm1

Tonight’s episode of Numm was actually very entertaining. It wasn’t dull and boring but the story unfolded gradually in a manner which was very enjoyable. The background score unlike the previous two episodes was not loud at all. It was a very well directed episode as well except for one scene in which Bare Sahab is addressing a gathering; that scene was stretched for too long. Honestly speaking, I thought  I couldn’t sit through another episode  after watching the last one but this episode proved to be very interesting.

The show might be nearing towards its end but it is getting more interesting by the week. This episode revolved around Maryam’s reaction to Faiza and Zayaan’s marriage. Ayeza Khan simply stole the stole with her flawless acting, and even Maheen Rizvi did a fantastic job in this episode.

It has just been a day and Faiza has already started to show her true face. Nusrat’s expression when Faiza told her ‘Mein Apni Marzi Ki Malik Hoon’ was definitely worth watching! I did not feel bad for her one bit, as she got the same treatment that she had given to Maryam, and made her life a living hell in the house. Faiza is slowly taking away Zayaan from every member of the house, and now everything happens the way she wants.

photo(8)Zayaan has become a mere puppet in her hand and does everything that she says. This was clearly seen when Afshah came to Zayaan’s house, and since Faiza did not want her to be there, she made sure she was gone from the house. Zayaan did not say a word and simply dropped Afshah to her house. Nusrat and Afshah were the ones who wanted Faiza and Zayaan to get married in the first place, and now they are paying the price for their wrong choice. This is just the beginning; Faiza is going to give a tougher time to both of them. Soon they will realize Maryam’s importance! Well, that’s my favorite part of any story; that is when the karma walks in and gives oppressors a reality check.

photo(7)The scene where Maryam just looks at all her clothes thrown on the floor including her wedding dress and remembers her parents was one of my favorite scenes in the episode. Ayeza spoke volumes just through her expressions without a single dialogue and that’s a big feat in itself.

photo(5)Zayaan’s insensitivity has reached heights now. He should have had the decency to at least inform Maryam about Faiza and his wedding. The way Faiza announced ‘Ab Yeh Mere Ghar Hai’ in front of Maryam and informed her about the marriage was just not the way Maryam should have gotten to know about the marriage. Maryam was thinking ‘Kitne Pathar Dil Hai Ap Zayaan’ just because he did not even contact her once after the tragedy that befell her, but the case here was far worse. He did not even care that she was going through the difficult phase of her life and gave her the biggest shock of her life.

photo(6)Another scene which was brilliantly directed and executed by the actors was the one in which Maryam goes to Zayaan to get answers to her questions, and all she gets is the divorce papers. I initially thought that Zayaan would not be able to handle Faiza’s dominating attitude but it seems that he has no problem fulfilling all her demands. Maybe because he has absolutely no choice now?

So finally, Zayaan did think about Ashiya! At least he thought about her future, but not for long because Faiza did not like him thinking about the past, and she was not ready to allow Ashiya to be in her house. How can Zayaan suddenly turn so submissive? This is definitely out of his character to act in this way.

All of Maryam scenes with her family were full of emotions and I really liked her heart-to-heart conversations with Amna and Ajji. The way she hid the truth from her family about the divorce was simply unbelievable. Nobody could be that strong! They will get to know soon according to the preview for the next episode.

The next episode is definitely worth looking forward too!

Pakistan Idol – Coming Soon

0

Singing talent shows have been a part of Pakistani television Industry for so long but I am sorry to say none of them clicked me and I did not watch an entire season of any singing shows. Pakistanis always lagged behind other countries in producing quality reality shows whether that reality show is of singing, dancing or physical tasks based.

All of us are familiar of singing talent hunt named as Indian Idol. Many of us also came across American and Australian Idol.Recenty, first journey of Indian Idol Junior came to ended that was surely a treat to watch.

15indian-idol-junior11

I am privileged to announce that Pakistan Idol is about to begin on GEO TV. Geo TV ,in association with Fremantle Media, has finally got the rights of broadcasting this talent show exclusively for Pakistanis.

During last two weeks, I was thinking of writing about lack of opportunities for Pakistanis. Like in India, there are singing schools, dancing schools and what not. Whereas, our children and people are deprived of taking any recreational activity and see my wish came true. Back to Back news of MasterChef Pakistan and Pakistan Idol made me really glad and satisfied.

All we want now is to look upon the fact that who will be able to bring true form of entertainment for us. Whether it will be MasterChef Pakistan to be shown on Urdu1 or it will be Pakistan Idol that will be soon aired on Geo Tv.

imagesI am dead sure that there will be a clash of titans on weekends and those who will watch MasterChef Pakistan will be deprived of watching Pakistan Idol and vice versa. But my suggestion is, give a try to both of them. You can switch on other channels during commercials else simply download one of them from Internet.

Let’s see which talent will win people`s heart. Cooking or Singing?

Do share your views about Pakistan Idol.

Aseer Zaadi Episode 3 – A Superb Show!

0

I was primarily intrigued by this show because of one person: Sania Saeed. I have rarely seen her in pure negative roles, and the role she is playing right now is very different from the ones she had played before. Badi Sarkar (Sania Saeed) is a woman who lives and acts likes a queen. She has a certain grace and aura around her, and Sania Saeed’s brilliant acting has brought her character to a next level. Her dialogue delivery, expressions and her body language all emits power. Badi Sarkar is definitely not a person to mess with, because she never forgive nor forgets. She is the mother of the only Waris of the Haveli, which gives her a sense of superiority and her status is considered above all others. The difference between the three characters she is playing in three different shows is remarkable. In Darmiyaan she plays a happily married working woman, in Numm she is playing a very soft spoken and graceful woman and a stern and powerful woman in Aseer Zaadi. Hats off to her!

photo(3)The first two episodes focused more around the introduction of the characters and their status in the family. I was initially shocked at the way the first two wives were treated, their status was not more than servants, and they had to act like widows just because they were unable to give heir to the Haveli. They looked more like some Hindu widows with the white clothes to me. Badi Sarkar’s treatment with them was totally repulsive and though I do not prefer watching shows revolving around the concept of ‘Peer-Mureedi’ and ill treatment of wives, still Sania Saeed’s character made me watch this show every week.

photo(4)The third episode revolved around Badi Sarkar and the rest taking proposal for Shahab’s (Noor Hasan) second marriage. The history is repeating itself as Shahab’s first wife was unable to give Haveli an heir and now Badi Sarkar wants him to get married again. What Badi Sarkar did not expect was Maira’s (Ainie Jafferi) refusal for the marriage. It was a hard blow to her inflated ego that a mere slip of a girl rejected her proposal. I was really confused with her reaction at first; she pretended not to be offended by the rejection, but she took her no as a challenge and now she is adamant on making her the daughter-in-law of the Haveli by hook or by crook.

photo(2)Another shocking character for me in this show is of Amna played by Sakina Sammo. I have always had the image of her as a graceful lady. Her character in Mastana Mahi is still engraved in my mind as I loved her in that role. Now seeing her as the witless Amna who is on the verge of insanity was pretty unexpected and surprising. The madness she showed in this episode by angering Badi Sarkar purposely, and gloating on her insult was brilliantly acted out by her. I did not know whether I should pity her or get amused by her madness! Naseemi’s character on the other hand, is of a calm and composed woman who has come to terms with her status in the house.

photo(1)Another character that I have really liked so far is of Shahab’s. His character is the opposite of his mother; he loves the two Bibis and gives them the respect they deserve, and has even stood up for them many times. He is not in the favor of the second marriage, but nobody can say anything once Badi Sarkar makes a decision. He loves and respects his first wife and cares for her feelings, which is a huge contrast from the way his father treats his other wives.

photoMaira has made the biggest mistake of her life by messing with Badi Sarkar and she is in for a rough time ahead. The tradition of the Peer family is that Waris is only borne by the third wife and her fear of marrying in the family is acceptable. I was wondering in the beginning why any parents would marry their daughter to a guy who is already married, but my confusion got cleared in this episode. Manager Sahab is in huge debt of Peer Jalal and getting his daughter married in the Haveli is a way of paying back the debt.

If Maira does not marry Shahab, Badi Sarkar would not let her marry her cousin either. She will make her agree at any cost, and now her cousin will pay the cost of her decision as was shown in the preview for the next episode.

I really like the show so far and I am really looking forward to what happens next!

I would love to hear your opinion about the episode, so do not forget to comment!

Kankar Episode 14 – The Ordeal Continues

0

Aap ka sawal yeh nahi hona chayeh tha ke meinay kya kiya, aap ka sawal yeh hona chahyeh ke mujhe takleef tu nahi hui!

Few things that were highlighted the most in tonight’s episode were 1) majority of the people are more interested in what is happening in other people’s lives rather than their own. 2) Most of us care more about what others think about us rather than looking out for the interest of those we love.  3) If things go wrong in a marriage, people will be quick to believe that it must be the girl who is at fault. How could Kiran’s mother not give her a chance to explain herself even, very sad indeed but was it unreal? Most certainly not! Umera Ahmed has depicted the circumstances faced by many girls in our society perfectly. Once a girl gets married, she has to o everything in her power to make her marriage work even if that means putting her integrity at stake. And if someone tries to walk out of an abusive relationship, she is most likely to meet the fate that Kiran did. I really felt for Kiran in tonight’s episode.

k5

Sikandar did not abuse Kiran physically again but the verbal abuse went on non stop; it kept on aggravating because Sikandar and his mother could not stop Kiran from expressing her opinion! This was another aspect of tonight’s episode to which many viewers could definitely relate to; married women most often are not expected to express their opinions openly and if they do then mothers in law feel insecure and husbands feel like their wives are too opinionated. When Kiran asks Sikandar why he didn’t support her, his answer was “Tumhei meri hamayat ki kya zarurat hai, tum khud he kafi ho apna case lrne ke liye” and that is exactly what she is getting punished for. I am certain there are many people who feel that if Kiran stops expressing how she feels things will get better, so why not do it? In my opinion even if Kiran stops expressing herself the way she does, things will continue to the way they are because Sikandar and his mother have shown that they do not have an ounce of respect for Kiran because of her “choti aukat”.

k3

I couldn’t help but think that it was very ironic when Sikandar said to Kiran “Tu kya chahti hun laroon apni maa se tumhare liye”? Wasn’t Kiran the same girl who Sikandar was dying to get married to a few months back and he completely sidelined his mother’s wishes in order to do that? Now that Kiran is part of his life, he wants everything exactly the way he wishes and he fails to treat Kiran as an individual.

k7

Shaista conveyed the pack of lies she had come up with to Kiran’s mother and Faiqa communicated the same to the rest of the family. The growing tensions between Kiran and Sikandar were the topic of the day; everyone discussed the matter and no one held Sikandar responsible except for Adnan.

All through the episode, I was hoping that Kiran’s mother will feel for her daughter at some point. Even if she didn’t express her concern for her openly, deep inside she would think that what had happened was wrong but nothing like that happened. How could she be so convinced that it was her daughter who was entirely at fault? Maybe because Sikandar has always been so good to Kiran and her family and also because of all the lies that Shaista told her. I was equally disappointed and shocked at Kiran’s father’s reaction. But then there are many parents who would expect their daughter to put up with much more as long as they have “loving” husband who can provide them with all the luxuries of life.

k2

Sikandar’s remark “Tum se ziada beghairat aurat waise meinay dekhi nahi apni zindagi mei” proved that he actually had no respect for Kiran. The preview for the next episode showed that Sikandar subjects Kiran to physical abuse again. It was bound to happen because the way Kiran’s mother dragged her back to her in laws proved to them that Kiran did not have any place to run to. She is more helpless and vulnerable now then she ever was.

kankar

This play is definitely very close to real life; I am sure there are many women out there who have had such troubled marriages and many men too who have taken their wives for granted. This world unfortunately is full of Shaista’s and Faiqa’s and not to mention women like Kiran’s mother too. Tonight’s episode was very well directed, the camera angles were perfect and the scenes were short and to the point. The acting like always stayed top notch.

International Antique Furniture Exhibition by Sonia Rehman!

0

Cashing their earned name as a brand is what we have been witnessing in our entertainment industry where our celebrities, once earning fan following come up with a brand, a boutique, a saloon or something similar and related to the fashion industry but what Sonia Rehman has recently came up with is much interesting as compared to the businesses I shared above,

Sonia Rehman who we enjoy watching on screen has recently conducted an international antique furniture exhibition targeting the different eras  and presenting a camouflage of years. The idea she focused on was to collect the ancient styles of furnitures of different civilizations like the British Raj, Indus Valley Civilization, Mughal Courts and things similar to them. She has individually selected each masterpiece and personally been involved in restoring each item in her signature style. These exquisite pieces are sure to be cherished by not only those who own them today but also future generations.

Showing their love and support towards Sonia Rehman, many Pakistani stars visited the exhibition and applauded Sonia for the magnificent idea she just turned into really. The event got a good media coverage and celebrities like Sania Saeed,  Humayun Saeed, Marina  Khan and Mahira Khan were spotted in the event.

Here are a few clicks taken and been shared, have a look!

Showing her interest in preserving the antique things like furniture is surely a new idea which has delighted Sonia Rehman’s fans.

Let us see what next she comes up with after enjoying a great success in the first attempt.

Aunn Zara Episode 12 – The Best One!

0

Not because of those tummy tickling humorous moments but because of some over whelming, heart to heart conversations between Husna & Zara, which broke the ice and showed how bitter a reality can be behind a smiling face, those fears which no one can relate to, this episode for me was the best one so far.

Didn’t know the episode that started at such a comical note would end leaving us absolutely gutted about the sufferings of Aun’s mother. Aun Zara just couldn’t imagine a little we-time of theirs would lead them to such a deep pit. The leader of the ‘Anti-Aun Gang’ Nighat showed up at exactly the right time when apparently Aun & Zara were in a fist fight. No one actually noticed Aunn lying on the ground too but all they could see was Zara’s frowning face. Where Daadi thought she had to be all ‘waari jawan’ on ‘peeli patak’  Zara, Zara just couldn’t relate how & exactly why the things were being blown out of proportion. During the course of the drama, Daadi always had some issues in bonding with Nighat but this time Daadi actually took a leap of faith blindly by depending on wherever would Daadi’s ‘Nigho’ lead her to. I actually loved how Daadi strengthen her bond with her partner-in-crime by calling her daughter Nigho. It was just so interesting how Nighat spoke about Jamshed’s feelings towards Zara, actually showing she knows & thinks a bit more about him & she actually is considerate towards his feelings.

Aunn who thought it was a high time for returning a favor to Manzar by getting him hooked with Zara’s friend, came up with a brilliant plan of a dual-date. Nighat has to be appreciated for always swooping in at the right time and taking the eavesdropping to another level. Husna who at first was hesitant later actually didn’t hold back & let Daadi & Nighat on the loose knowing whatever they intended & were upto meant saving the relation of Zara. Daadi had to insult the ‘talangri & mashoomri’  Shehna because of her she knew Aunn & her whole family was in ‘ishq da sayappa’

From restaurant to their home, from the clarification of the misunderstandings to Zara’s laughter fit, I felt the whole series of events were absolutely perfect not only in terms of acting but also in terms of timing, in terms of direction & everything else. No one could ever imagine the emotional & abusive drone attack Daadi & Nighat would open at their ‘iklota laadla, ankhon ka taara’ Aun. I must admit that I appreciate Daadi for her spontaneity & honesty because during all such chaos, she didn’t forget teaching Husna as to how she should slap Aunn, as Daadi actually outdone herself in all those ‘chands’ (slaps) she awarded Aunn with. I actually feel bad for what Shehna had to go through just because the poor thing fell into the trap set by Aunn for her marriage. I think this would be the last thing on anyone’s mind in regards to the marriage proposal. The funniest thing to me was that Manzar still had guts to propose her up front for the first time knowing but simply ignoring the humility she went through. The way Aunn was dragged to the home & how Zara took responsibility in telling what actually happened was spot on because I think a further delay about this confusion would make things a bit dragged.

I absolutely loved the intelligent choices of word which lead to some delicately well-knit confusions where Zara’s unspecific ‘unhain’  forced Husna to lead her think-tank to the wrong path. Zara who actually came to terms with Jamshed & Nighat’s love flick didn’t know on what lines Husna was taking her permission as. Jamshed handing over THE RING to Nighat & Zara arriving at the ‘moqa-e-wardaat’ made it just perfect. Loved that uncomfortable grin on Jamshed’s face because he knew what he was thinking but actually spoke the opposite. How Nighat’s daughters have become Zara’s look-alike to Jamshed speaks volume as to how much he wants ‘mohtarma & her rehmat’s’ to be a part of him now.

Last but not the least the way Husna yearned and convinced Zara in making a promise about never shattering & staying strong actually showed her fears & those years which she spent in negativity herself. It was absolutely heart-wrenching to see Husna relating to Zara & admitting why she became so possessive about Aunn because she didn’t want to fail in her upbringing as Aunn was her only asset. She just couldn’t tolerate Aunn failing her values which she taught him as a mother. For this very reason Husna apologized to Zara out of no where because she thought she just couldn’t make Aunn the man she wanted him to be & she hated seeing his father’s reflection in him. Zara has for sure earned the respect & love everyone extends towards her because she has given everything she had to her family & for this Husna has opened up those deep secrets which she carried with her all these years. During the first conversation I thought Husna was a victim of domestic violence but thank god Daadi made it clear in her spat with Aunn that at least his father never hit Husna. Phew!

Aunn’s deep thoughts gave a negative vibe for a moment. I think he will get into that state of mind where he will dislike everyone’s shift of attitude towards him because of Zara. I hope she doesn’t pay the price because every now & then it did occur to Aunn how everyone treated him differently than before, I think even though he wanted things to change & the attention of everyone towards him getting a notch lower, he still won’t be able to keep up with it as he is used to being the center of attention.

& finally a little in fact a louder shout out for the best acting of the best cast brought out by the best director for the sake of best writing piece from the best writer. I loved every single expression, every single ‘haye’ every single detail of this episode, hence, it was THE BEST EPISODE. PERIOD! :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Microsoft Takes over Nokia for $7.2 Billion

0

While the world is still found confused with the news, the two major technology contributors are now joint under a single identity- The Microsoft. If you are a Nokia fan and have been using the Finnish products that once leaded the Mobile industry, the news is really a critical one. It was only few days back that Microsoft has officially purchased Nokia for $ 7.2 Billion dividing the world into halves in terms of opinion where one supports the move while other accuses Nokia CEO Elop for selling out the soul of Finland for something as low as $7.2 Billion.

Nokia and Microsoft-The Deal!

The about-to-retire Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmar had been into much of the news for his announcement of retirement in a year as a result of the continuous criticism and lack of support within the company and seems like Ballmar has taken a smart move to prove his rivals that it was pointless to consider him as a trash and a bad luck for Microsoft. Presenting his last, yet the biggest hit to the shares in general, Steve Ballmar signed a deal with Elop, the CEO of Nokia and has now taken over the once recognized Finnish best-seller mobile company, Nokia.

bits-mountgroup-custom2

Microsoft becomes the owner of Nokia-Thank to Elop!

The man who is hated by the majority of population in Finland is now enthusiastic about the move he has taken which has changed the status of not only Nokia, but of the entire Finland overnight. Since the day Elop has gotten into power in 2010, he seems to be a Microsoft supporter who proved it for the first time in 2011 when he chose ‘Microsoft Windows Phone’ to be the next major product to compete with the increasing dominance of smartphones from other manufacturers. The company had a series of arguments where many of the senior stakeholders proposed that Nokia should come up with its own powerful mechanism to sustain the global pressure but Elop was quite sure that once Nokia earned the banner of Microsoft, Nokia will grow with a higher pace.

The idea failed badly bringing the assets of the company down from $200 Billion to somewhere here at $7 Billion. The wounds become severe when we see Elop selling the world-recognized mobile company to Microsoft only.

What made Microsoft buy the brand?

Microsoft-Nokia-merger

Spending $7 billion to add a huge brand in the hit list is something which is seriously not an issue for the world’s richest man and for his company. If you have been following the trends of Microsoft like me, it is easy to conclude that Microsoft is never good in its first attempt but brings wonders to the world after picking up the idea of its rivals always. Now that Apple Inc rules the iPhone world and Google is banging up the world with its Android power, Microsoft is now already to cash the label ‘Nokia’ now.

For now it is really not appropriate to comment on the latest move in the tech world.

Let us see how the merger works out for Microsoft and the Nokia Fans.

First Turkish Movie to Hit Pakistani Cinemas Soon!

0

No matter how hard we try not to discuss about the foreign content and the controversial realities attached to it, the idea is turning into a giant monster which is haunting the local drama-makers and now the filmmakers are not exempted here.

Turkish dramas have been airing with their urdu dubbing been done and from Ishq-e-Mamnu to Fatima Gul, have gathered quite an audience so far. Now that we see our film industry flourishing with the improved efforts made by celebrities and organizers, Turkish films will now be coming to Pakistan to add in the competition which our movies have to face from Indian and Hollywood movies. Turkish movie, ‘Ask Tesadüfleri Sever’, translated as Mohabbat ek Itefaq in Urdu will soon be making its way to the Pakistani cinemas. It is interesting that the especially dubbed movie will also hit the Indian and Bangladeshi cinemas soon.

download

Been released in in February 2011, the movie earned a huge business of 50 million USD and is one of the highest grossing Turkish films, with a first weekend hit of 1,779,485 USD, of the year and investors hope that the movie will now add up into the revenue with its global launch in different language.

The story of the movie revolves around the life of a famous actress who is into a strong relationship but the family of her love does not approve her profession at all. She then meets a photographer during one of her shoots who falls for her and that is the point where the trio love angle starts.

download (1)

The upcoming project is a result of the mutual efforts of Pakistani production team-Sohail Productions and will be releasing in Pakistan this Eid-ul-Azha. There are 18 targeted cinemas in Pakistan which will support the Turkish movie that are mainly located in Karachi,Lahore and Rawalpindi.

The movie is half way done with its translation and voice recording and it is expected to see its promos releasing not only on E-media but in newspapers too.

images

It is yet difficult for me to judge this move because the idea would be facilitating the cinema houses anyway but it still creates a question about how will our local industry survive in the given circumstances! The release of Chennai Express ate up all the good for the Pakistani releases on Eid as it is, and now that this Turkish movie will release on coming Eid too, it is more like a threat to other expected Pakistani movies been scheduled to release on the occasion.

Kadurat – Episode 08

0

Honestly speaking, even after everything that Mina has put her family through I find it impossible to dislike her character. It could be because Sanam Saeed has played this character so brilliantly that she has completely overshadowed every other character in the play. I am not quite warming up to Aleena and Daniyal’s romance; they do not come across as cute at all. Aleena’s character is likeable but the romance between Aleena and Daniyal seems forced. The highlight of tonight’s episode was Mina’s attempt to kill Aleena. I couldn’t help but wonder that why didn’t the “poison” that Mina add to the tea made it taste bitter! This particular development was very unconvincing and why did Aleena have to think so much when Mahmood asked her that who made the tea for her! Since, she wasn’t sure how good Mina’s intentions were in the first place.

k2

Mina’s plan to fire the secretary on the other hand was very intelligently planned and executed. The blackmail worked like a charm and Mahmood was left with no choice but to side with Mina. Asad, like always could clearly see through Mina but was completely helpless. The introduction of the new character Asma seemed a bit out of place. Asma’s character failed to impress me primarily because the acting of the actress playing the role was extremely unconvincing. The dialogues were not very impressive either. It was quite evident that Asad was completely swayed away from this girl’s confidence but aren’t secretaries supposed to be the kind of girls who follow orders as opposed to telling their bosses right from wrong? She could have been fit for any other job but definitely not for the job that Asad wants to hire her for.

k6

Shaheen’s attempts to woo Mina’s father continued throughout the episode; Mahmood is not “warming up to her” at all. I do not like this particular track of the story at all; it is sad to see a young girl belittling herself the way Shaheen is. I must confess that the only character that truly leaves an impact on the audience is that of Mina and the only reason for it being so is Sanam Saeed’s brilliant performance.

k4

Asad finally decides to retaliate to what Mina has been doing. He seems like one of those people who either ignore things or retaliate in a very ruthless manner. Unlike, the past few episodes, the direction wasn’t very impressive in this one. There were times when I felt that the scenes ended abruptly. Like, when Atiqa gets up to ask Aleena about her consent and we were taken straight to Asma’s house. Atiqa’s reaction to whatever happened to Aleena was once again very strange. I would have expected her to go frantic but she was calm enough.

k5

The preview of the next episode showed that Mahmood will stop trusting Mina altogether. For once she tells him the truth but he reacts in the worst manner. This is only going to make Mina’s condition worse; where is the psychiatrist in all this? The counseling is not helping Mina at all but it almost feels like Mina is taking the psychiatrist for a ride too!

This best thing about this latest installment just like all the previous ones was Sanam Saeed’s flawless portrayal of Mina. She is the one who makes this show worth watching and she actually makes it hard to dislike Mina’s character because she portrays Mina’s insecurities and fears just as well as her negative side.

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Episode 04.

So things have started to shape up a bit in the drama. Story is progressing but there were some of those moments where connecting the dots seemed difficult. Was it a flaw in the direction or bad editing – some scenes just didn’t go with the flow in the revelation of the story.

Arham has actually started to open up in front of Areeba & he is showing interest in her. That was in fact shown nicely that Arham felt degraded at the mention of the word sympathy where he himself expected it to be love. He uttered to himself that he has failed in love before but didn’t want it to happen again, which eventually will now. Everyone has become quite vocal about Arham & Areeba. Areeba’s never ending questions about Arham & her insightful conversations with Arham have been noticed by the whole family. Sara is taking her pride in being the first one to speak openly about Areeba’s feelings towards Arham. It was such a white lie where Areeba claims to only have the emotional sympathy with him instead of letting her friend know what her true feelings were. I think it was a bit odd that knowing Narmeen & her attitude, Areeba still asked her about the tiff between her & Arham.

Where Shahiq himself is conscious of Narmeen’s meaningless displays of public affections, he on the other hand is also trying for his marriage to work out with Narmeen. He was all furious at what she did in front of Arham & his parents but still he managed to tell how much he missed her. Where Shahiq is coming to terms with the fact that he is married to Narmeen & he is trying his best to accept her as his wife, Narmeen, by all means is perfectly pushing all the wrong buttons to disappoint him.

Even though when Narmeen knew how shallow her relation was with her Mamu & his family, why did she get married to her cousin in the first place? She knew that she almost hates them all, so why destroy the peace of their family? I really couldn’t get why she stepped back when Shakeel tried to bless his Bahu? It is kind of annoying to see Narmeen blowing every single thing out of proportion.

What I couldn’t quite get was that at one point Arham leaves the house at the mention of Areeba’s sympathy with him but on the other hand Shahiq & Narmeen are seen discussing their wedding? Parents, who have never made it obvious & are unaware of the growing feelings between them, Shahiq mentions that Areeba is quite happy with the proposal? I really didn’t get how did the situation surface without any sound background?

Arham & Areeba still have to patch things up but Narmeen actually has left the house because of their discussion on their wedding? I feel this was quite a flaw in either the direction or the editing. Where Areeba herself has not even admitted to anyone that she likes Arham, Shahiq made such a statement about her being happy with the idea of their wedding? Where did it come from? & even when nothing has actually happened, Narmeen found her ways to voice her opinions about their relation. I think what Shahiq did was absolutely right because Narmeen did cross her limits. Where Shahiq on his own is happy about Areeba being Arham’s wife, Narmeen has accused him of his hidden ulterior motive of having Areeba around him.

The episode was a bit interesting but there were some loop-holes which were quite clear. Arham once again didn’t forget to mention k ‘Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai’ & I was like ohkay bhai jaan, we get your point, can we move ahead? & I don’t really understand the use of the word Khuda where as the only word suitable for our Almighty is Allah! For the sake of the drama, the title fits well but in the dialogues I guess the lesser or no use of this word would be perfect.

The preview of the next episode was interesting as well & what seemed more interesting was a lie that Narmeen’s mother uttered about Shahiq hitting his wife. I really want to see what happens next because despite some flaws I am interested in knowing how the things will unfold.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

5th International Children Film Festival to be held at Lahore!

It is more than a dilemma that there is hardly any local content left that can be associated with the children of the nation where we see no dedicated programs or channels that work on child grooming and skill motivation for the young souls who, as a result of this seek interest in foreign content and follow Indian talent hunt shows and movies.

It is not only in India that special projects are been rendered to this specific age group of viewers but the trend is more like a need in west. It was recently a creative idea of Burka Avengers but again it too failed to attract a pretty huge audience probably because of the lack of promotions been done by the channel itself.

Much to our delight, a non-profit organization The Little Art (TLA) is working on Children’s cinema and for that it will soon be holding an international children’s film festival in Lahore from 16th to 21st September, 2013.

This 6-day festival is being held at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore in collaboration of Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs, Government of Punjab.

The significance of this film festival is the fact that the movies been chosen for the festival highlight the problems faced by children in general. The researchers claim that the idea of spreading awareness and learning through the visual arts among the children is a great way to enhance the capabilities of the children in different domains.

The Little Art (TLA) has also announced a national art competition named ArtBeat. Festival director, Shoaib Iqbal told in an interview:

“ArtBeat is a visual arts project to raise awareness about identity, rights, and social justice among children and youth.”

With the theme “Me/My Rights”, the competition aims at providing children with a platform to express their inner feelings. Children and youngsters of 3-18 years of age from all over Pakistan submitted their work early this year. The winners will be given 30 different prizes and TLA has announced to fully sponsor two brilliant artists for Sharjah International Biennial for Children’s Arts.

TLA has done a great deal of work in motivating the children grooming through quality films and this would be its 5th major move in the said domain.

We wish the team a very good luck for the event,

More power,
