Negativity Much – In Our Dramas?

0

Right now when we all know that the Pakistani drama industry is in all it’s glory, our industry is not only being appreciated in Pakistan but worldwide as well. I feel the content that our respected writers are exposing us to, is fictitious. I have seen so many weak story-lines coming into execution just because they were dealing with some sort of taboos of our society. I hate to say but even the rules of Islam are being ridiculed just because some writer somewhere thought that there wasn’t anything else left to write a story about so why not play with our very fragile concepts of Islam too?

Without taking any names of the dramas I’ll speak about so many negativity that the writers & then the whole production team has shown to us over the last few years. Divorce has now become a major part of our story line. If one or the other couple in any of our drama is NOT divorced then according to the writer, the drama won’t be a hit. It’s ohkay, divorce has gotten a lot more common but that is just because the society is moving away from the teachings of Islam & that doesn’t mean that they have to use these close to real-life incidents to actually bring it on our screens for their own revenue.

The term ‘Halala’ was taught to us by our parents as something which depicted a severe punishment set by Allah in response to the divorce. While surfing through some channels I actually started watching this so called comedy serial on one of our well-reputed channels & there the guy who jokingly told the girl that why don’t you get married to this guy & divorce him & ‘phir tum Halala kar lena’. I think these are the fine lines which should never be joked about consciously or unconsciously, because the media is our mind-controlling machine & it is set to program the viewers minds. We learn mostly what we see on the TV & this fact can not be doubted. Anyways, listening to this term actually made me cringe because I don’t think it gives a right to any of the content or dialogue writer to just blurt out anything in the name of a comedy?

Came across one of the drama serials about an year ago where a wife’s husband gets into a serious situation with wife’s sister & then the ‘satti savitri’ sister gets divorced just because her husband couldn’t hold his horses, after getting married to the younger sister he realizes that his ex-wife was better & then he comes back telling her that if she agrees for Halala, he’ll be fine with it. I mean what sort of a message was being conveyed through such a drama? That it’s the guy who was at fault & just because NOW he wants his wife back, he wants her to go through such a huge thing.

Ohkie, now all the sisters in the world according to our media are evil. This is the new trend set off after Maat. I didn’t dislike the story or the concept of Maat because yes for the whole audience it was something new to see. But ever since it seems like the writers limited their thinking prowess & got stuck in the Maat era, literally trashing every single relation that two sisters can experience in their life. Be it a sister’s husband, or sister’s fiance, nothing was spared & rather maligned just for the sake of entertainment. What we came to see in Maat was even based on reality that the husband or the wife does tend to grow out of each other in years & this is what the character of Saba Qamar did just because she had other standards in life, therefore choosing a more well-settled husband for herself. But after this serial so many other dramas came to surface with similar story line but with actually a lot more sickness that one couldn’t even think of.

I know so many of our writers are well respected for one writing of theirs or the other, but in this matter I do appreciate Umera Ahmed because she does highlight all the negatives of our societies but every time she has a lesson to be conveyed through them, to which most of us in fact all of us can relate to, but her caliber is different. The wavelength of her stories is far beyond than many of the writers out there, who later try to make stories by picking up a few bits & bobs from her original stories. I saw so many dramas which were always similar to Umera Ahmed’s writings but the level was completely different or in simple terms a bit more commercial with some ‘tarka’.

A whole new campaign I would say prevalent on our screen these days is the marriage of a girl & then her ordeals. Her saas, her nand, her irresponsible husband & what not. The one who stands up for herself becomes the negative character & the one who works like a ‘massi’ & doesn’t demand anything in return becomes the best example of a ‘bahu’. Every girl knows that marriage comes with a lot of happiness but with certain baggage attached so why only focus on the bad side of the picture in stead of maintaining a balance?

Another interesting in fact disgusting thing that I noticed was that every younger one of the sister’s duo is a gold-digger. Each & every drama told the story of a younger sister being the evil & the materialistic one, to such a point that she is ready to take her sister’s place. These days this drama is on-air in which some Nikkah got wrong (a whole new level of ignorance shown) but just because the youngest sister has seen where her eldest is going to be married, she now is having thoughts of staying in the Nikkah with her jeeja. Another, in fact so many of the dramas have been been on-air showing that the younger sisters are the evil ones & the elders are better than the saints which actually is completely false. In real lives, I have seen so many of the younger sisters actually a bit more mature than the elder ones.

For once I want to see ONE such drama in which the sisters bonding is shown nicely. I think Khoya Khoya Chand is the currently on-air drama which shows that the two sisters have a good relationship (though I didn’t see but could figure out from some of the glimpses). & a few months ago Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay showed some refreshing bonding of two sisters, though I was not a fan but because it walked on the lines set by the original Tanhaiyaan, it showed some nice bonding between the sisters & apart from these I just can not recall any other drama? Extra-marital affair is another spicy aspect of one’s married life that our drama writers are resorting too. Every other guy in the drama these days is shown having an extra marital affair & when exposed he gives such insane arguments that we just can’t help nodding our heads in disbelief. The current on-air & much hyped drama has taken such a sick turn which I would definitely wouldn’t want to see where a girl is framing her own father with some evil schemes & taking a help of her own friend. I think this was the last thing which I ever even thought of seeing on Pakistani Television??? The same girl goes around proposing her step-brother, I think we have now taken liberalism to a whole new level!

I feel there are so many aspects of our life which can be represented through our dramas & in such a time of distress I don’t think anyone would want to switch on the TV to actually get hold of a bit more of a negativity around. A few dramas do touch some norms but in such a way that tackling them doesn’t become difficult & we actually want to see what happens more but I feel all the time focusing on the similar story lines again & again makes it a lot more tiresome & nothing to be amazed about.

I do see dramas of other ethnicity in which they also speak about their social standards & even the love stories but I feel they are more decent in approach towards their social norms than we are. We always tend to cross just so many lines even when we see a love story, sadly! It is interesting that even those countries are known for their negativeness but the way they portray their lifestyle is commendable. Speaking of India & about their lifestyle – which I know on a personal level too, strategically what we see on their TV screen is completely opposite. All those glamorous ladies with extravagant lavish homes, even to the point where it looks unreal (in fact it is unreal obviously) but this is what we call as image management. They show things which only represents a certain class of India but in Pakistan where the lifestyle & standards are so much better than so many countries, sadly our drama writers are trying to spoil everything – be it our image, our relations, our culture & so much more.

Every-time I have a discussion with any of the people around me & even whenever I read the comments, it is quite satisfying to know that people think on all these lines & never hold back in labeling them as cheapness. I, then fail to understand that which percentage of Pakistanis are these who approve of all this on coming on to our TV screens??? I hope that we see some reality based dramas in a whole different light & the aspect which makes our norms & life look more real without any such ‘mirch masala’ or any such tag lines which may scream that Pakistan is a depressed country with depressed people.

Mere Humrahi Episode 7 – The Story Progresses!

0

After watching this show for 7 weeks, I have come to the conclusion that this show is not going to become fast paced. It was very slow in the beginning, but now gradually it is progressing at a steady pace. The story is getting more focused now and this episode mainly revolved around three characters; Haaniyah, Ahmed and Ahad.

photo(53)The sad part is that Ahad does not feel even a bit guilty, and he actually had the audacity to put the blame on Haaniyah for not waiting for him. The flashback scene was brilliantly executed, and I am glad it was shown as it gave more insight to what kind of a rapport Ahad and Haaniyah shared. I simply loved Haaniyah’s jovial and talkative kind of nature which is a stark contrast from what she has become now; serious and quiet. Ahad has managed to break the spirit of Haaniyah who once used to be full of life.

We also got to know why Haaniyah is so cold towards Ahmed and why she is not able to adjust to the new situation. She thinks that Ahmed has made a huge sacrifice for her and this seems like a huge burden to live with.

photo(54)‘Mein Thoopi Gaee Hoon Un Per’, this is what Haaniyah said to her mother when she asked the reason behind her cold behavior towards Ahmed. Haaniyah knows that he has married her just to save her and his family’s reputation, and this hurts her self-respect. What she does not know yet is that Ahmed has whole heartedly accepted her and intends to keep her happy. She just needs to give him a chance!

Ahad is now trying to contact Haaniyah so that he can get answers to his questions and blame her for being unfaithful to him. After Haaniyah ignored his calls, he misbehaved with Haaniyah and they had a pretty intense scene. Technically, Haaniyah should be the one blaming him for leaving her but the case was the other way round. Haaniyah has been very calm so far but she lost all control when he accused her, and her reaction was fierce. Ahmed has faith in Ahad that he would respect Haaniyah as she is his wife now, but I do not think Ahad has plans to leave Haaniyah alone anytime soon. Soniya performed well in this scene, though she did go a bit overboard. Shehzaad had the same expression throughout the scene once again; he really needs to work on his expressions.

photo(49)Of course, Samina cannot be left out in any episode and she did get her share of screen space in this episode; though not as much as before. Her haughty attitude is just unbearable! Ahsan really has a lot of patience to withstand her intolerable attitude. Zaheer and Afshah’s scenes are still more bearable and I do not mind watching their scenes. Zaheer and Afshah is an ideal couple who understand each other; they are poles apart from Ahsan and Samina. But I still fail to understand the reason behind the focus on the problems they are facing in their house. Sidetracks can get really annoying at times!

photo(51)The scene where Ahmed sees Haaniyah hurt and lovingly puts medicine on her wounds was the best scene in the episode for me. For the first time, Haaniyah let him care for her and did not try to keep distance from him. She was moved by his concern for her and could not help but realize what a caring person he is. One brother gives the wound while the other brother heals it! Their chemistry in this scene was just superb!

The story is finally moving forward and we can now see an understanding developing between Ahmed and Haaniyah. I am looking forward to see more of their scenes in the upcoming episodes.

The preview of the next episode shows that Ahad is not ready to leave Haaniyah alone. Let’s see how Haaniyah deals with him!

Do share your opinion about the episode; I would love to hear them!

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Episode 07.

So once again we’re left to solve the riddles all by ourselves & trust me it’s getting tedious. I mean I don’t find myself handling the whole ‘Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai’ dialogue again & again & again along with the unsolved mystery. I feel we’d be pushed to such a point; when the real issue will be revealed, we’d not be bothered at all.

Narmeen’s getting evil day by day & whose more evil is her mother. I mean all this while, when she knows that Narmeen is mentally handicapped, still she goes around helping her transpiring more malicious schemes in her married life. I think Narmeen’s mother’s suggestion of filing a complaint against Arham to the police was way too much. She unnecessarily blew things out of proportion. Narmeen is not only bothering Arham but her own husband as well, whom she herself fell for. I think the whole family is way too lenient in handling Narmeen. Arham who keeps on yelling to the point where his vocal chords hurt still can not make his point clear & Narmeen, who being in a joint family ignorantly keeps on paying her ‘devar’ some meaningless visits. This just all look so unrealistic. I don’t think in a joint family (no matter how big the bungalow is) it is possible to just go to anyone’s room. Even if we take it as a drama, I feel somethings should be made real.

I find the to’s & fro’s from present to the past & vice versa a bit too confusing to follow. All this while I kept on wondering if Arham was recollecting some of the bad memories from the past or was Shakeel having those outbursts again in the present day. May be some B&W effects would’ve made it easier for us to follow through their patterns of Arham’s miseries, like it was still easier when he was in the Islamic get up but ever since he changed himself for Narmeen, things have gotten difficult…for Narmeen & for us; the viewers too.

Finally one particular twist that seemed interesting was Narmeen’s one on one conversation with Areeba. I never expected such a calm person like Areeba to actually react the way she did & I think it was a high time she got her point clear & through Narmeen’s head. This was one move of Narmeen which was spot on in a sense that she herself told the driver to let Arham know, so that he can be tortured & then eventually he will end up blaming Areeba for not being the first one to let him know about Narmeen’s visit.

I still find it really odd that being their family friends since childhood, Narmeen was actually telling Areeba that she was Arham’s ex-fiancée. Even though they try revealing something new but it’s just one or two scenes in the whole episode, which is why the whole drama is becoming bore-some. Rest of the episode is always like the very first episode in which they kept on beating around the bush.

I kind of laughed that Areeba at first stated ‘Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai’ (almost making me bang my head into the cushion) & later just by Narmeen’s say, she was having second thoughts. I know she will over-come Narmeen’s negativity & won’t pay heed but for that moment I found it amusing. So, hoping to see some progress in the story next week but preparing myself to hear one thing from Mr. Shakeel, Mrs. Shakeel, Sarah, Shahiq, Arham & Areeba that ‘MUJHE KHUDA PE YAKEEN HAI BHAI’. lol!

The direction seems really unprofessional & the editing tops the unprofessional-ism. I see that they have not paid attention to minor details like in every scene their dresses changed just in a jiffy, which disrupts the continuity of the episode. Like Narmeen walked away after taunting Arham in front of the whole family in some other dress, but when she walks in her room & Shahiq is waiting for an explanation, she has a completely different ensemble. I don’t even find the dialogues appealing. Didn’t even come across a single dialogue that I could remember & sadly all the conversations just seem so repetitive with same words being uttered again & again & for this reason I fear that by the end of the serial my own reviews don’t end up sounding similar. lol!

Plus I never say that about anyone but I feel Momal Sheikh needs some good makeup artist who can actually enhance her beauty appropriately but sadly every time the case is otherwise.

Kadurat turns controversial-Is it a little too much?

0

Hum TV’s Kadurat is currently the most happening drama serial going on air which is enjoying a huge viewership and decent TRP in general. The drama is more like a ride where the viewer often lands up in a difficult state; all confused whether to hate Mina for her silly pranks she plans with her friend Shaheen to take revenge of her sufferings or to feel for her for all what she has been witnessing from her childhood.

The drama, written by Zoha Hassan, is a beautiful script which is quite near to the real world where the children suffer really hard when their father remarries, bringing them a step-mother after the death of their mother. However, Kadurat is now taking a new turn where the excitement of the plot is turning all controversial, especially after the recent promo which is now going on air. At one end where a pious relation of a brother and sister is put on stake with Mina now offering her brother to marry her, Shaheen’s greed and Mina’s revenge has crossed all the boundaries of decency with their latest move.

Untitledds

As been shown in the promo, Shaheen calls Mina’s father Mehmood at her place, telling him a lie about Mina’s health where Mehmood is drugged and the two girls capture his indecent photos while he lies unconscious.  Deepak Parwani is all exposed shirtless giving a real sick intuition to the audience about the story.

Untitled

Watch Promo here.

The drama no more seems to be a Pakistani project but reflects an old Indian touch where all one can do to avenge is to make the story go this way. Knowing that we have some very broad minded readers here, I would not be passing my personal views over the issue, but would definitely like to add that watching such promos while your father and brother been seated beside you is really awkward and there seems no difference in between our culture and the foreign traditions we are often criticizing.

Aseer Zadi Episode 6 – Misunderstandings!

0

This show is getting more interesting by the week. This week’s episode concentrated on the development of Maira and Shahab’s relationship, and the problems both of them faced in their relationship.

photo(42)The stark reality of the people in the haveli was revealed in front of Maira the very first day. She had every right to be upset and disappointed with the way things had turned out. Her conversation with her mother showed her frustration, and how she feels about the whole situation. Like any parent, her mother was also upset after seeing her daughter so unhappy. If she thought that the situation was going to get better after she speaks to Badi Sarkar, then she was wrong. Amna gave her a reality check and made her realize what she had done to her daughter’s life. She seemed worried and scared for her daughter’s fate after that; but she also knows that it is too late to do anything for her daughter now.

photo(43)Shahab does not know how to deal with the situation he is in right now. Yasmeen is becoming more and more difficult to handle. He got a very cold response from her when he went to apologize to her for the slap, on the behest of Maira. Technically, he should have gone and apologized to her before Maira told him too. I love the fact that he always discusses all his problems with the Bibis, and give importance to their suggestions. Amna always cracks me up with her extremely weird suggestions.

It was a very sweet gesture from Maira’s side to think about Yasmeen’s feelings. But if she expected Yasmeen’s behavior to improve with her after that, then she was totally wrong. Yasmeen never leaves a chance to taunt her and always remind her that she would also suffer the same fate as her. This show highlights how some people believe in traditions that are pure nonsense. The concept of getting the heir from the third wife beats me! It is hard to believe that some people follow and believe in orthodox traditions which are highly illogical. Hopefully, Maira will break their highly illogical tradition very soon.

photo(48)I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between Shahab and Maira, and all their conversations were the highlight of the episode. First the cute breakfast scene and then the ‘honey’ and the ‘moon’ scene was a total treat to watch. Maira is slowly realizing now that Shahab is very different from what she had initially thought, and is finally opening towards him. Shahab and Maira’s laughter during the scene where he gives her the present seemed a bit forced to me though. Ainie Jaffri and Noor Hassan have excellent chemistry and I am looking forward to see more interaction between them.

photo(45)Just when Maira and Shahab were finally adjusting to the new situation; Fatima had to come and create problems for both of them. Her indecent behavior was ridiculous, and Maira’s anger was totally justified. But unfortunately, Shahab got all the blame even though he was innocent. Shahab can barely stand Fatima, but he has no say in who he wants to marry. Fatima is Badi Sarkar’s choice to be Shahab’s third and real wife, and Fatima always uses this to her advantage. She was gloating when Badi Sarkar was insulting Maira, and purposely showed the picture of her and Shahab’s house after marriage to Badi Sarkar in front of her.

photo(44)Fatima became the reason for Shahab and Maira’s first argument. A little credit also goes to Yasmeen who instigated Maira in the first place. The preview for the next episode seems promising as Shahab will show Fatima her true place, and her reaction will also be worth looking forward too.

Fatima will not spare Maira for insulting her, and she will get back to her through Badi Sarkar. Next week’s episode will definitely be worth watching.

Do share your opinion about this week’s episode. I would love to hear your views!

Woh Episode 04 – Brilliant Performances

0

Nyla Jafferi was absolutely flawless in tonight’s episode; I could relate to Ruqqaiya’s growing fears more than anything else in the play today. If I compare Rubina Ashraf and Nyla Jafferi in this particular drama then Nyla Jafferi takes the lead without a doubt. Rubina Ashraf needs to change her style a little in order to make her characters stand out. I am a big fan of Rubina Ashraf but lately I have felt that the way she breathes in between her dialogues is getting repetitive. My favorite scene from tonight’s episode was the one in which Ruqqaiya is saying her prayers and she can feel the demon’s presence in the room. This scene was sheer brilliance on  part of the person behind the camera, the one guiding him and most importantly because of the superb acting by Nyla Jafferi. The amount of thinking that has gone into each of the scenes shows clearly in the play.

woh6

The most important development in this recent episode was that Faisal finally gets convinced that Mehr is possessed. The demon does not speak or act through Mehr now but it has an existence of its own. It is only getting stronger and will perish anyone who tries to harm it in any way. Shamoon Abbasi portrayed Faisal’s confusion and fear very well. The way Faisal gets convinced of paranormal activity was sheer brilliance too. The only thing that I find missing in the play is that the demon doesn’t actually do anything to harm the people in the house. It does not even destroy things but just scares people. Usually such creatures are very determined and they want something in particular that is why they show themselves to people. In this case the ultimate goal maybe to get Mehr divorced.

woh6

Mehr’s brother decides to take her to the mazar again so that the could once again seek help from the person who helped them befor eonly to know that he had died. The demon confesses to the crime and that makes Mehr’s mother even more concerned. Arij Fatima has proved in this play that she is not just another pretty face but she is talented as well brave enough to opt for such a difficult character.

woh4

Ruqqaiya decides that the best way to get out of this difficult situation is that Faisal leaves Mehr because she thinks that Mehr and her mother are involved in black magic. Ruqqaiya and Faisal’s conversation was also very nicely written and directed. Ruqqaiya’s friend is taking advantage of the situation and minting money out of her. The actress playing Surraiya always plays these kid of roles, she is the official trouble maker of our drama industry now!

The scene in the car when Faisal is driving Saba and Mehr back home could conveniently be shorter. The purpose of the scene was to show Faisal’s state of mind which was something that could have easily been done in a much shorter scene. The ending suggested that Faisal has finally decided to something about the situation but I couldn’t help but think that leaving his family alone at that time was not the wisest thing to do! the preview of the next episode showed that the demon is taking things to the next level and Faisal decides to find out more about Mehr’s state.

woh7

Woh has been a very engaging play till now. It has its flaws but it has definitely managed to serve the purpose. It has the right amount of horror and drama in it. The story is convincing and entertaining, the direction and camera work are very impressive most of the times and the acting is worth raving about over and over again.

Zinda Bhaag Movie Premiere – Celebrities showed appreciation!

0

The most anticipated movie of the year, which will also be representing Pakistani entertainment industry in Oscars this time made its grand release last Friday, that is, September 20th, 2013. The movie is a joint venture of India and Pakistan where we see Indian director adding in his experiences of direction in the movie and the Indian flawless actor Naseeruddin Shah doing a major role in the movie. The story is based on the lives of three friends in Lahore who are more than willing to do anything to get their green cards done.

The movie made its premiere recently and interestingly, many of our renowned celebrities made their appearance in the premiere and also appreciated the movie.  The premiere was held at the ‘Ocean Tower’ (and not the atrium mall this time) last Wednesday where the presence of stars like including  Zeba Bakhtiar, Samina Peerzada, Yusaf Bashir, Behroz Sabzwari, Faisal Qureshi, Nabeel, Junaid Khan, Amina Sheikh, Azfar, Nadia Jamil, Sarmad Khoosat, Noor-ul-Hassan, Aisha Khan, Sajal Ali, Momal Sheikh and Ainy Jaffri glowed up the evening further.

It is yet shocking that the movie hardly conducted any promotional campaigns apart from the promos that were seen going on air on ARY Digital, being a major contributor in the film’s production, yet, the movie is now ruling all the cinema houses all over the world.

Here are a few clicks of the night,

Have a look!

Top Pakistani Dramas Of The Week

0

Many new dramas have started recently, the viewers have a wide range of storylines, cast and crew to choose from. While the viewers may start watching a drama based on its cast and crew but the fact of the matter is that at the end of the day what really matters is that how engaging a play actually is. Many dramas which were not on top of the list previously have made their way on the top and some plays which people started watching enthusiastically have gone down because they failed to keep the audience engaged.

dramasThe first episode of Aasmano Pe Likha tops the list despite of the fact that it had some good competition on other channels. People watched this first episode more than giving their time to plays like Kadurat and Darmiyan which air on the same day.

Aunn Zara is second on the list beating plays like Khoya Khoya Chand, Maan Ke Moti and Justuju on the leading channels. This is a great success for Aplus, one which many couldn’t have predicted at all.

Kankar is third on the list which means that it has some loyal viewers who did not stop watching the play although the play Kabhi Kabhi which is also very appealing has started on ARY.

Adhoori Aurat is the fourth on the list. With the drama drawing to a close and some dramatic twists and turns in the story, the viewers are more interested in finding out how the story will unwind.

Mera Hamrahi even with its weak storyline and slow pace is number fifth on the list leaving behind a much more engaging play Halki Si Khalish, which did not make it to the list at all.

Kadurat is on sixth, which means that Darmiyan is gradually lagging behind.

Tar e Ankaboot is on number seventh although the story of Rishtey Kuch Adhoorey Se has gotten much more entertaining too.

Darmiyan is on number eight and it is surprising that Aseer Zadi and Numm even with a star cast have bagged TRPs that are not very impressive. Out of all the plays that are in the last five positions, Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewa is the most unbelievable one since it has been on air for the longest time but still is always there in the top charts.

This list looks very realistic, do share your opinion about it.

Rishtey Kuch Adhooray Sai – An Unsolved Enigma

0

Finally, we have seen some developments in this serial today. Aliya received divorce papers and went into serious mental trauma after that.

On hearing Aliya’s divorce news, Gaiti’s father made it very clear that Arsal could have taken a step to eradicate that fuss created by him only because of his marriage. His one step could have saved Aliya’s life. He was,no doubt, right at his place but at the same time Aliya’s parents were also right that if they would have accomplished one of his demands now,he will ask for more and more in future. They were not expecting him to be such a coward and narrow minded human who can ruin his own life just to pamper and spoil his sister much more than before.

Gaiti is now realizing that she should take some serious step to solve out Nikah issue and for that she is continuously thinking to dug out a possible way through which she can solve out the issue. To maintain her relations, she also went to talk to Kiran that she went through a phase of tension soon after that Nikah incident and for that Kiran owes an apology from her.

While their discussion, Kiran came across shining Kangan that were carried by Gaiti so beautifully. Kiran is now getting serious for Arsal.Even if she is not ready to ruin her sister’s life still she can’t stop herself from thinking and observing every step that Gaiti takes. Her curiosity while Gaiti was on call with Arsal said it all.

Germs of jealousy are getting multiplied in Kiran with every passing day.She cant bear Gaiti’s late night phone calls. It can be easily observed that Kiran is messed up between her concern for her sister and that Nikah. All we have to wait for is which aspect of her will lead and which will lag.

On hearing about telephonic and asking about a situation closer to Gaiti’s issue, Gaiti’s mother considered it as a ray of hope that this Nikah is not a problem anymore. Still, Gaiti wants to confirm this matter from some religious scholar.

Last scene was quite interesting as Gaiti goes to her father and narrates everything to him.His fierce and angry looks were enough to kill any one.I was thinking that after that angry look,he will slap Gaiti but he stood up and went out of the room. And then,we heard a fired bullet sound..

Is this a dream of Gaiti or her father has seriously committed suicide? What will happen  after Gaiti’s  mother will come to know that Gaiti is not wed locked with Arsal.? Will she be able to get a possible way out of trouble or not ?

For all that and many more, Keep on reading.

Three Worst Novel Based Dramas

0

Novel based dramas are not new for our TV screens.Since the times of Ptv various novels of A.R.Khatoon, Zubaida Khatoon and Naheed Sultana Akhtar have been dramatized under the titles Shama,Afshan,Uroosa,Tasweer and Aanch etc.The advent of private television programming took this trend further and the stories, novels and novelettes of different digest writers were dramatized. Some of them proved to be super duper hits while others fail to leave a mark.In the following,we present our list of three worst drama based novels. 1- Amar Bail
This is a very popular story of Umera Ahmed. It is a love story of Umar Jahangir and Aleezay Sikandar set against the backdrop of Pakistan’s bureaucracy. How these two individuals fight their battles and complexes is the crux of the story. TVOne made a drama on it which was aired a few years ago. It starred Adnan Siddiqui and Maria Rabab (of Daak Time fame). However, Maria Rabab couldn’t do justice to her role and was much criticized by everyone for her poor acting skills and physical features also. A remake of the story featuring Fawad Khan and Nida Khan (Sanam’s friend in Kadoorat) was doing the rounds on social media sometime back but it remained a rumour as no such drama is under consideration atleast for now.It remains the most hated drama specially by fans of Umera Ahmed.

2- Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu
It is a popular novel by ace novelist and superhit drama writer Farhat Ishtiaq. The story revolves around Ibaad Uzair (Aabi),his extreme love for his parents and what happens when he comes across Haniya Sajjad in foreign land and falls for while his parents has selected someone else for him back home in Karachi. The tragic death of Aabi as he’s coming back to convince his parents to accept his marriage with Haniya was the turning point of the story and the events thereafter took the graph of the story upwards.A drama was made on it and aired by Hum TV. It was scripted by Farhat herself and directed by Mehreen Jabbar. However, the suspense factor was missing for the large part in the story plus the casting of Adeel Hussain as Aabi disappointed a lot of Farhat Ishtiaq fans and was probably one of the reasons that the drama never saw the kind of ratings that the earlier blockbuster Humsafar had seen. It would be pertinent to mention here that Fawad Khan was originally to play Aabi but he couldn’t get the visa on time, hence came in Adeel Hussain.

3- Jo Chalay To Jaan Se Guzar Gaye
This novel of Maha Malik has been dramatized not once but twice, however, both times the drama version failed to impress the audience. It was a tale of a powerful person falling in love with a girl and getting her forcefully. The girl initially hates him but with time their relationship evolves. The second drama version starred Nauman Ejaz and Saba Qamar in leads but due to many differences from the actual story, added twists and turns and change in events led to this drama not getting much popularity.

Interview with Sharaz Ali – All You Need is a Vision!

0

2013 has brought glory for the Pakistani Entertainment Industry. Independent movies made by amateur Pakistanis have reached different movie festivals all over the world. Pakistani talent is being appreciated far and wide, and recently a Pakistani movie ‘Zinda Bhaag’ has also reached the Oscars.

Sharaz Ali is the director of the movie ‘Writhe’, which had the opportunity to feature in the Cannes Film Festival 2013. The short film has Armeena Rana Khan and Geoff Cooper as the leads. The story revolves around a woman’s mental pain and suffering due to an incident that occurred in her life.

1044972_407845032664529_1431193908_nSharaz might have lived in Derby for most of his life, but his roots are still from Pakistan. He aspired to make an independent film, and though he faced many difficulties; he stayed determined and finally managed to complete his film with a lot of hard work and dedication. He had stated that he had no high hopes for the movie to get selected at the Cannes Film Festival, and had entered it in the spur of the moment, but he was in for a pleasant surprise when he got the acceptance mail. His film gave him an opportunity to mingle with the Hollywood’s elite crowd which included names like the Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and James Franco; the star from the Spiderman series. All the stars had nothing but praise for his spectacular short film. Writhe was also premiered in London after its success in the Cannes Film Festival.

Here is an interview of Sharaz Ali where he talks about his movie Writhe, his experience of working with Armeena Rana Khan, and why his movie has not released in Pakistan yet.

  • How did the concept of ‘Writhe’ evolve? Is it based on any true incident?

‘Writhe is based on a true story’, I said standing this in front of the packed screening room…

Followed by ‘no, not really’, after receiving some raised eye brows!

Even though it is not based on a true story, the core ingredients are all very much true and one that the audiences of countries such as Pakistan have seen much too often- domestic violence, rape and suicide due to depression and lack of support from the community. Writhe touches on all these in a way where the beauty of the shots, the audience don’t get hit with it until they have walked away- once the film has finished and discussion begins of the intentionally multilayered story.

  • Armeena Rana Khan is a new sensation of Pakistan. How was the experience of working with her?

She is a director’s dream, as she takes direction very well, easy to work with and gives 110% each take. I am really pleased and have every faith in her that she will keep surpassing audience expectations and be a force to reckon with in the future.

The first day of shooting was on a brisk winter morning- the sun was out but not everyone could tell the temperature was in the minus! Everyone was layered up and freezing yet thanks to me, Armeena had to be a thin red dress- she was feeling like an ice cube, but kept marching on with each take! I think that was the point I knew she in it with me and her professional commitment showed.

  •  Do you think that Armeena has portrayed the character well? Would you like to work with her in future as well?

I pictured this almost innocent, beautiful woman in this big, bad world of London and she played that to perfection. Armeena has a beautiful face but her eyes were the key and window to her pain and suffering, as seen in the poster. Not only that, you also see something sinister brewing in there and that is why she was perfect for the role!

Armeena is a pleasure to work with and we have become a close friend since our shoot together, we have complete faith in each others talent. We have been eager to work together since Writhe, but time has been the only barrier for our future collaborations. We have many interesting projects in development so watch this space!

  •  Do you have any intention to release ‘Writhe’ in Pakistan? If no, then how Pakistani fans of Armeena will be able to see it?

I think most of the Pakistani audiences would have heard of Writhe in the Writhe special bulletin on ARY. ARY was there exclusively to cover the screening, and had exclusive access to some of the footage for their report.

I am finalizing a deal with some online/on demand companies where the film will eventually be available for audiences from around the world.

  •  What according to you is the secret ingredient for making a successful film?

Making a successful film needs a team – a tight, well-polished and hardworking team. You can have a great script, but it could get ruined in the shoot, or have a great shoot and ruin it in post, and even having the best actor sometimes doesn’t help if you take big Hollywood examples; if the rest of the team didn’t perform! Overall, you need a well-oiled machine and each cog needs to be on the same page – once you have that, success will follow.

So in this instance, I had a great idea I was enthusiastic about, great team and a beautiful actress who was made for the role! I knew exactly what I want to shoot with and how to get the shots I require, which I believe gave the rest of the team more confidence in me and believed in my vision. Just knowing that they trusted me was humbling, and also stressful- as it’s all on me!

  •  Don’t you think parallel cinema is only for a limited audience as mostly people would not be able to digest the stories?

Parallel cinema is, at the starting point for a niche audience, which then spills over to slightly more mainstream when audience hunger for different, creative or new age cinema content grows.

In Pakistan, I know my film maybe bold for the general audience, but I know the younger generation will grasp this as an alternative to the norm. I am not saying Pakistani cinema needs a change or is dead as many reports suggest, but more so that as a global audience, I would like to give Pakistanis next generations something more rewarding to watch and something that’s not entertaining, but brings to light many issues in a creative way.

I know finance is also a very key issue here but if we can push/fund quality instead of quantity, younger filmmakers who see things differently like myself and born in Pakistan to share the vision and voice- eventually this will bring our Lollywood industry up to date and up to scratch.

This will eventually, bring a blurred line between mainstream and parallel cinema which in return will do what cinema is supposed to; give the audience a choice of what they would like to watch.

I believe in coming years, we need to move with the times but also not forget our roots. This will bring a positive change to the industry, the audience acceptance and the country’s stand in the film world.

  •  What message would you like to give to the young film makers in Pakistan?

As a filmmaker, I know sometimes you have to compromise your vision to get to the end result… As an individual who has seen change from the outside, lived in Pakistan and seen it from both sides. The best advice I can offer is to keep working on your art, keep your focus and patience as it’s not an easy industry- anywhere in the world to break into and we have a saying here, ‘You’re only as good as your last work!’ so make sure each projects counts.

Finally, as I am sure you already know, the more you do the more you learn, so don’t stop or give up at the first hurdle, the race is long and only with yourself- so only you can push yourself to the finish line!

  •  Would you ever consider working in Pakistan?

I would love to work in Pakistan- either in the TV or Film world. Besides being a challenge, I think I can teach and learn from a country that I would like to push into the world via its creative platforms.

This year was the first time I had gone to the Cannes Film Festival with my films, and to hear people saying that my film was the ONLY Pakistani film in the festival was astonishing. I thought to myself, how could an industry as large as Lollywood not have anything here?

For this reason, I would like to come and help develop, change and mold the industry to help get positive recognition, show its talent and of course that we can and are a competitive force in the film industry!

Numm Episode 05 – The Tragedy

0

Zinda logon ka kya ho ga? Un ka kon khayal kare ga?

Neelam asked a very thought provoking question fom her mother. Her elders believe in going to any length to fulfill the promises made by those people who are not alive anymore. Is it more important to carry out the plans made by people who are dead or to take into consideration the happiness of those who are living? Neelam lost the only person who truly understood her and that too at a time when she needed Amo the most. It was quite apparent by Neelam’s attitude in the last episode that she wants Wali all to herself and today she told her mother and sister just that. Her biggest problem with Mahjabeen is that she is Wali’s wife, it does not matter to her that she is vani.

numm1

I really fail to understand Mahjabeen’s position in the house. Yes, she is mazloom no doubt because she was married off to a boy who was old enough to be her son, she brought him up like a mother and will never be his wife but she is considered as part of the family nevertheless. If that wasn’t so then she wouldn’t have gone to Neelam’s house for condolence. Bare Sahab also has consideration for her feelings because when in one of the previous episodes Neelam called herself the second wife, Bare Sahab did not call Mahjabeen vani in front of her. I have read that girls who are given as vani are treated like slaves because the whole purpose of the ritual is to seek revenge. In Mahjabeen’s case things are very different. Apart from that, honestly speaking I fail to see Mahjabeen and Wali as a “couple” because of the age difference. I hope that there will be more flashback scenes in the upcoming episode, that will help the viewers understand Mahjabeen’s situation better.

numm4

Neelam is finally willing to give her relationship with Wali a chance. Her conversation with her sister was written very nicely but the acting by the actress playing Neelam’s sister completely ruined that particular scene for me. Kanza Wyne portrayed Neelam’s innocence very well in some of the scenes but in others she went overboard. Sometimes it is not the dialogue delivery or the body language that is flawed but the timing of a particular expression or dialogue makes a huge difference. Sania Saeed and Fawad Khan both are brilliant actors and one can’t help but expect the rest of the cast to be at somewhat the same level. The actress playing Neelam’s mother is also doing a commendable job. I would definitely want to see more of her. Her character is not very likeable but she makes is endearing because of her expressions and overall acting.

Everything that Amo had to say to Neelam and Wali was extremely touching. She summed up the bond of marriage beautifully. Amo sees the beauty in Neelam’s personality which everyone else around her fails to see. Wali conveniently blames Mahjabeen for everything that transpired. I felt for Mahjabeen at that time, she is nothing more than the housekeeper. When Wali addresses the servants, he is actually putting the message across to Mahjabeen too.

numm

The beauty of this play is that it has been directed very well. I really like the way the story is gradually moving ahead, it keeps the viewers looking forward to more. The flashback scenes take you to another world. When Wali tells Mahjabeen off, she is reminded of the time when he was little and she had just arrived at the haveli. Even after putting in so much effort into raising this kid, she does not get an ounce of respect from him. The soyem scene however could have been far better. The entire gathering was covered in detail but  there were no family and friends at the soyem, which was very strange.

numm3

Usman Peerzada was the perfect choice for playing the role of Bare Sahab. There have been times when I haven’t liked some of his work but he totally owns this character. The last scene was very confusing. The viewers were left to wonder who the boy in that scene was. The preview of the next episode suggested that Wali may finally realize what Mahjabeen has gone through till now. The real question is that will Neelam be able to live in the same house as Mahjabeen for long? Will there be a soft corner in Wali’s heart for Mahjabeen in the future because of Neelam’s attitude?

Kabhi Kabhi Episode 02 – So Far So Good.

0

Another week of an interesting episode with no such disappointments except for one that in the first episode the name I heard & checked on ARY’s official website was Shahraiz & now it has become Shahveer? Apart from this bit of a confusion I enjoyed watching the whole episode.

Arez is making Eshaal live the life she has never experienced before. Be it a road-side green tea or a bike ride, she has enjoyed his company & has opened up to him in just no time. Arez on his own is getting quite comfortable with Eshaal & has no issues in helping with her bouts, also h is happily lending her a shoulder to cry for which he looks like a really nice person. I liked the chemistry that they both shared & their scenes were nicely directed with some really nice & light hearted conversations.

Ehsaal’s father is going over-board in getting his plan materialized of making Eshaal fall for Shahveer/Shahraiz. He may be the eligible bachelor but he doesn’t make Ehsaal’s heart skip a beat. He can no doubt provide her with everything but that’s just not what Eshaal wants. Arez tells her that he finds her different from those rich stereotype girls & he is spot on when it comes to that conclusion because Ehsaal just wants to enjoy her life; her way, & her way of leading a life is definitely different than her family’s idea of a happy one.

Rehbar continues to poke his nose in Ehsaal’s matter & her father has planned a grand wedding or engagement without even letting her know. Being a father, no doubt he wants the best for her but is that the only reason he is so keen on getting Eshaal hooked to the rich guy? I am sure there’s some sort of a business benefit hidden behind this proposal too.

Ohkay, I think we all should get ready to see some serious over-acting by both Sana Askari & Bushra Ansari. Even if they are those mean ones, doesn’t really mean that they actually have to over do it. Bushra Ansari did seem reasonable but Sana Askari is stooping to over-acting. In this episode, it has been made pretty clear that they know how to blow simple things out of proportion & it was rather funny to see Arez giving his reasoning on the cross-questioning that was happening. How sneakily he tip-toed in his own home was utterly amusing. Ehsaal thinks his family is easy to tackle but only Arez knows what he has to face every single time, but still despite all this, he has started to like Ehsaal & spending time with her because according to him, no one can help falling in love with a girl like her.

So, I am looking forward to the next episode & the whole direction & the screenplay is amazing too. So far the drama does look refreshing & definitely for boring. Even though the story can be predictable but I actually feel & want to believe that there’s no harm in giving this one a try, given the kick start it has taken.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Khoya Khoya Chaand – The regret

0

Today’s episode had nothing new to offer once again but there are a lot of things that are required to be discussed and ponder upon . Right from the first scene where Beena was asking her parents to  say a big NO to khala jaan on Ahmereen’s proposal,I thought that Angabeen will lie about Ahmereen. Her parents asked her whether Ahmereen has issue with this marriage or not? Thankfully, Beena didnot lie and tell them truth that she even don’t know about proposal. This clearly depicted that Beena is not in state of enmity, instead, she can’t see her sister getting married to the person whom she loved throughout her life.

Two sisters share beautiful onscreen chemistry and there every minutest concern narrates that they are completely sincere, faithful and loyal to each other as far as siblings relation is concerned. I am happy with fact that siblings rivalry issue has not been raised in this very serial too. Because with it, this serial would have become some typical serial.. wesai hai tou abhi bhi.. still its better..

Due to Beena’s pathetic expressions (I don’t like her expressions today ), her sister guessed that there is something going between Aarib and Beena due to which Beena is upset. She discussed this scenario with her mother too. Like all other mothers,at first ,Beena’s mother said same words, Abb tum mujhe wehem mai naa daalo. But as soon as she heard beena’s call when  Beena asked her  while crying that she want to visit her.Beena’s mother discussion with Ahmereen that she was right put Ahmereen on fire and she went to Beena’s place. I really like how situation turned out and everyone was laughing instead of having some typical gharailoo laraie jhagra.

Ahmereen and Aarib’s part was well directed. From that horn to Ahmereen afraid look on hearing dog bark, all went really well. On serious note, Ahsan Khan and Maya Ali look really nice as a couple.I hope that they will get casted in some serial as a couple very soon.

Beena’s state of continuous tension is an alarming situation for her marital life.Since Farooq broke up his engagement, she is no more interested in Aarib. All she is thinking about is Farooq and that will pay her off soon. I also found that Farooq is not at all interested in marrying Ahmereen and so was Ahmereen but they have to do it for the sake of their families. With every passing day,Beena is regretting that why she got married so early ?

One thing that is being adored by me is OST of this serial. The lyrics, music and video create a very different aura and I always enjoy watching its OST. Overall, this serial has bunch of some really good looking artists, nice locations and very soothing music that makes it liked by everyone warna story is not that much engaging.

Will Ahmereen be able to find out Beena’s hidden secret? Will Ahmereen and Farooq get married?  All of answers will be given in next couple of episodes.

Kankar – A comparison with actual story

0

Kankar (Pebble in english), famous serial of HUM TV is based upon a short story (افسانہ) of Umera Ahmed “Wohi Dil ke thehr janay ka mausam

وہی دل کے ٹھہر جانے کا موسم”. It is a short story of few pages, not a lengthy novel which is dramatized into a 20+ episode drama.

946866_509071475825372_1272168968_n

The main idea of this short story is the essence of element of mutual respect in marital relationship and domestic violence and physical abuse against women in upper class or educated families, posh families whichever way one interprets it. Domestic violence is a known fact in lower and uneducated circles of our society, and it is considered a part of norm of life of women in these circles, but in educated and upper class, though such things do happens but they are normally pushed under the rug and not talked about.

safe_image

While kankar is based on “Wohi dil ke thehr janay ka mausam”, a reading of actual short story makes it clear that only the main idea of the story is same, the rest has been modified as per drama and screening demands. There have been several additions to actual story for dramatizations purpose. Here is a comparison of drama and actual story. Since drama has not ended, so this comparison is also till the point story has progressed so far till recent Episode 16. Once the play is completed a full comparison can be published again.

  • Name of main characters in actual story are Haider and Sara, while in drama these are changed to Sikandar and Kiran.
  • In actual story, kiran is an orphan single child raised by her father’s family, tayas and chachas, in drama she has a family and parents.
  • Actual story, is a single track narrative of mainly two characters, kiran and sikandar, there are no side tracks. In drama additional two side tracks are shown, First one is Kiran’s own family, her sisters, brother and parents. Second one is Kiran’s phuphoo (Humera Abid Ali) family of Adnan (Hassan Niazi) and Rrukhsaar (Uroosa Sidiqi). So all the events covering these two tracks are not part of actual story.
  • In actual story, sikandar is son of sister of chachi of kiran, in drama he is son of sister of tayee of kiran.
  • Name of chachi of kiran in actual story is Nadeema, in drama name of tayee of kiran is Faiqa. Also in actual story chachi of kiran is not hostile towards her.
  • Name of sikandar’s mother is nighat in actual story, in drama its shaista.
  • Name of character of aarzoo in actual story is zareen, she is daughter of mamoon of sikandar and has no direct connection or relationship with kiran. In drama aarzoo is daughter of khala of sikandar and is also cousin of kiran.
  • In actual story, first meeting of kiran and sikandar occurs in a different way as shown in drama, kiran has routine visit to sikandar home with her chachi and then co-incidentally she comes in his room. In drama she visits sikandar’s home for wedding of her cousin.
  • In actual story sikandar has three sisters, in drama he is a single child.
  • In actual story, sikandar’s mother has been a fiercer saas (mother in law)  than in the drama. She has been critical of each activity of Kiran, in drama there are some scenes where both kiran and mother of sikandar had shared some pleasant moments.
  • In actual story, there is no incident of any physical abuse among parents of sikandar.
  • In actual story, there is no mention of any event of kiran conceiving, or miscarriage incident as they shown in episode 15 of drama.
  • In actual story, only one incident of domestic violence is mentioned and it is quite violent. In drama there are more than one scenes of physical abuse occurred at different occasions.
  • In actual story, kiran leaves the home and demands for divorce immediately after only occurrence of abuse whereas in dramas she gradually made up her mind after repeated incidents of physical abuse.

Have you got a chance to read this actual short story, do share your views for any other differences in drama and actual story. But please do not comment about end and future proceedings as they mentioned in the actual story. Let there be an element of suspense for those who have not read the story. But for those who have read the story like me, the play is still appealing as some things in drama are quite different and even better than actual story.

Kankar Episode 16 – Can Money Buy Happiness?

0

This latest episode of Kankar further highlighted the different circumstances in which Kiran and Sikandar grew up. A lot of what the viewers had already concluded from everything that transpired till now was shown in detail today, maybe for those viewers who may still have some ambiguity in their minds regarding the reason behind Sikandar and Kiran’s opposite approaches. Kiran has come to the point where she is certain that nothing will ever change, therefore she wants her relationship with Sikandar to end, whether her parents agree or not.  We do live in a society in which divorce is a total no no, no matter what the circumstances a girl must try her best to reconcile with her husband. Therefore, Kiran’s parents reaction was very relatable. Kiran’s mother feels that she is being immature, her statements along with the preview actually scared me because I have a bad feeling that this drama may be putting forward a completely different message from what many of us have been interpreting till now.

k2

The scene in which Kiran finally tells her mother about the reason for her miscarriage was very touching. The way she shares with her how she feels that it was a blessing in disguise was very moving. Kiran feels betrayed because she never expected her husband to do all this to her. She is sure that her children will meet the same fate because she has seen a living example of a child who was brought up in a hostile environment.

k3

The flashback scene of Kiran and Sikandar’s conversation also revealed that Sikandar has already told Kiran about what went on between his parents. He saw things getting from worse to perfectly fine and that is the reason why he thinks that it is perfectly normal for a husband to hit his wife and for the wife to forgive him.

Shaista was just as unreasonable in tonight’s episode as she was in all the previous ones. Her attitude has never come as a surprise to me, in fact I would expect a woman like her to do just that.

Tonight’s episode of Kankar actually left me with a very confused state of mind, not because I did not understand the underlying messages but because I got the feeling that the writer may just be putting forward a completely different message from what we have been concluding till now. Kiran’s parents conversation and her mother’s attitude in particular went to show that her husband wasn’t always the perfect husband that he is now. The preview of the next episode also suggested that there is something about Kiran’s father which she does not know. I really hope that I am wrong about all this but if Kiran’s father also used to hit her mother then I won’t be happy with it at all. I remember when Shandana in Durr-e-Shehwar decided to give her marriage a second chance after her mother tells her the realities of marriage, I actually liked it but if Kiran does the same I will surely be left with tons of questions in my mind and it would be like sending the wrong message to the men. It is not just the women folk who watch plays but many men watch them too. It is not normal for any man to hit his wife no matter how big their differences may be and putting up with abuse isn’t something that should be accepted as normal.

k6

I must say that Sikandar seemed genuinely sorry today but then he has been that sorry before too. Sikandar’s patient and submissive attitude in front of Kiran’s parents was a complete surprise for me. It is not easy for a man like him to hear everything that Kiran’s father had to say to him. Sikandar did not only listen to him but he also did not react to everything that Kiran said. Was that because the loss of his child proved to be an eye opener for him or was it because people like him do not want to ruin their image in front of others? We will know soon enough.  Do you people think that Kiran should give Sikandar another chance?

Ary Films, Footprint Entertainment and Matteela Films joint venture “Zinda Bhaag” is about to release this month. Initially, its release date was Sept 6th,2013. But due to some issues,it was delayed and is finally releasing on Sept 20th,2013.

The plot of this film revolves around three friends Khaldi(Khuram Patras),Taambi(Zohaib) and Chitta(Salman Ahmed). All of them want to achieve something n their lives and for that they are desperate to dig out any possible shortcut leading to success. This story clearly depicts life of young men and women of our country who are so keen to go to West for sake of fulfilling their desperation to prove themselves in front of everyone that they have potential to do everything.

5232c8438c76dI want to add up here that classical song BUBULA that was originally sing by Yaqub Atif was a big hit whenever it was played in TV dramas.

“I used to sing other people’s songs and I used to copy them very well. Then one day a famous singer got offended that I had sung his song. After that I prayed that may Allah give me a special talent so that I have a unique style of singing which is my own.”

“Since then, I have written and sung my own songs only. I have received so much recognition for my song that now I’m popularly known as ‘Bulbula ji”. — Yaqub Atif

Aunn Zara Episode 14 – Satyanaas.

0

So it was that ‘manhoos nashta’ that made Aunn’s imagination rolling & that’s how he got hold of stirring the trouble around in his home just because he saw Husna understand the misunderstanding & over-reacted on that. Whatever she felt was justified just because she didn’t think things through but unfortunately Aunn understood how he can distant Zara from the others.

I least expected to see Jamshed act so unreasonably. At one side he has shared how he feels for Nighat with his friend yet he just insulted Nighat which she didn’t deserve. Even though Jamshed was caught off-guard because of a sudden ring ceremony which was about to take place but his fault was trying to make it look like he hates his name being affiliated with ‘mohtarmma’ whereas completely denying that has given this relation a thought of possibility quite sometimes on his own. Where Daadi was ecstatic enough to show off her ‘chaar chaar angootiyaan’ to Daada Jaan, they all just didn’t see the chaos coming.

I must say Aunn has played his cards really well but the sad part is that everyone has started to take him seriously. Daadi, Husna & Zara, all three of them have fallen prey to his tactics. I think they were better off when they extended everything towards Aunn but the attention. Zara was wise enough to never follow his lead & because of that carelessness of hers, she rocked as a bahu all this while. But now when she has started to do what Aunn’s telling her to, she is in deep trouble & no one is ready to understand her.

Even though Zara did owe an explanation to the whole family & especially to Nighat for how she thought things through, she just couldn’t come to terms of understanding how the things went wrong. I laughed where at one scene Aunn was making fun of Zara hilariously and in the next he was fighting with his Daadi & mother like a ‘faffay kuttni’. Such a close knit family can scatter like that in a jiffy was actually heart-wrenching to see.

I think Aunn has tackled the situation very selfishly & he is taking all the wrong decisions. I though to myself that in normal situations it’s always the mother-in-law who creates issues between the couple because she hates sharing her son but here it’s the son who is creating hideous issues between his mother and his wife. But even during all the mayhem & even though Husna was hurt, she still managed to convey her feelings & honest advice to Zara with a kiss on her forehead, telling her that things will be alright and showing actually how dear Zara is to her.

Even Daadi who was hurt just because of the embarrassment Nighat had to face, she went back to being the old Daadi when Zara came to have a conversation with her, proving that she just can not ignore her grand-bahu. Zara is trying hard to undo the mess Aunn has created but I wonder how everyone will react once they’ll find that Aunn was the mastermind behind these uneasy situations. It was – after a long long time, refreshing to see females making peace & being considerate towards each other, even though Daadi & Husna did feel bad & betrayed because of Zara but still just couldn’t ignore her completely.

I loved the fact that even though from the outside, these things may look petty & not worth paying attention to, but those who are facing the situations tend to forget what others mean to them. They have highlighted the bitter reality in such a nice way because when the drama began I read the writer’s comment which stated that this story will not be all comical through out. I now understand that these things happen in real life just as shown because at one point where the whole family laughs at a dinner table, ends up not seeing each other’s faces due to some emotional turbulence. Right now it’s just so easy for Nighat to go & speak to Zara about how she conceived of such an idea but in stead she is choosing the otherwise. Similarly, Husna can talk things with Zara too but she thinks it’s better to ignore because she is getting hurt. Such are the minor issues that grow big over the years & hats off to the writer to show what smallest misunderstandings can lead to, in such a nice way. For sure, it is a reality check to those who don’t want to let go.

Anyways, Aunn thinks by doing all this he will be able to seclude Zara for himself but sadly for now he just can not see how depressed Zara is. I hate to see anything bad happening to this family, because we love them they way they are. I want Aunn to go through another round of ‘chappairs’ & ‘chittars’, because he for sure deserves all this. ;)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 22 – Maryam’s Outburst!

0

The story further progressed in the episode this week. Finally, there is something for Maryam’s family to rejoice on after a long time. Everybody was happy when Bilal’s mother came to ask for Amna’s proposal once again, and the best part was that she was not interested in knowing the reason behind Maryam’s divorce, even when Maryam’s mother tried to explain the reason.

Maryam succeeded in making Amna agree for the haste marriage and the marriage finally happened with a lot of simplicity. Maryam was finally seen content and happy after a long time, and the depressing feel of the show vanished for a while. Bilal seems like an open minded and loving guy and Maryam was happy to see her sister married to the right person.

photo(41)Faiza always manages to stay two steps ahead of both Afshah and Nusrat. Here Nusrat was planning to convince Zayaan to give Afshah her share in the property, and there the very clever and cunning Faiza had already convinced him to transfer all his property to her name. Afshah and Nusrat got extremely shocked to hear this news because none of them were expecting Zayaan to do such a thing without even informing them.

photo(40)One of the best scenes of the episode was when Maryam goes to Zayaan house after she gets to know that Zayaan is the reason for her brother and father’s accident. We got to see the outburst of her feelings that she had stored inside of her for a long time. She had never wished anything bad for Zayaan even after what he had done to her, but this time she did not keep quiet and all her words came directly from her heart. It was truly a spectacular scene and Ayeza was the star of the episode. Her performance in this scene is definitely worth an applause!

photo(39)The surprising part was that Zayaan kept quiet throughout which irked both Nusrat and Faiza. But what could he have said when all of Maryam’s accusation were true! A part of Zayaan is guilty and though he tries to push his conscience away but it keeps on creeping up from time to time. This is the main reason why he refused to take any sort of revenge from Maryam even when Faiza insisted. He did not give a nod to Nusrat’s plan either when she insisted to take Ashiya away from Maryam. I am loving this meek and helpless side of Zayaan. He deserves every bit of the treatment he gets from Faiza.

Zayaan is no longer in Nusrat’s control and Afshah gave her an idea to get the hold back on Zayaan. These two have not an ounce of humanity left in them. How can they possibly think of taking such a small child away from her mother? They made Maryam life pure hell when she was Zayaan’s wife, and even now they are not ready to leave her alone.

photo(37)Just when Maryam had finally come to terms with the situation and things were getting better, she was faced with another huge problem. Maryam is not meek and submissive like before; now she knows how to stand up for herself. She would never let Zayaan take her most prized possession away from her. She still has the biggest card in her hand, and she can use it anytime to make Zayaan agree to whatever she wants. She is the only one who knows his secret and she would not think even once before revealing it if he does not give Ashiya back to her.

I thoroughly enjoyed the episode and there was not a single scene that I wanted to skip. Faysal Qureshi and Maheen Rizvi both were superb in their scenes too. The direction of this show has been brilliant from the start. Every scene is so brilliantly captured, and every minute detail is taken into account. I have always loved the background music of this show; it makes all the scenes so intense.

I am looking forward to see if Zayaan would give Ashiya back to Maryam or not. The next episode would definitely be worth looking forward to.

Drama Serial ‘Sannata’ coming soon on ARY Digital!

It has been quite a while that we haven’t seen Saba Qamar doing something really big on screen but seems like the wait is now over as the actress will now soon be seen in an upcoming drama serial ‘Sannata’ which will go on air on ARY Digital.

Been produced by iDream Productions, the drama is a beautiful write-up of Sajji Gul. The direction has been done by Kashif Nisar and the cast includes some popular actors like Saba Qamar, Danish Taimoor and Sajal Ali in lead roles.

The drama is a difficult story where a man is made married to two women the same day which is certainly an unusual act to accept and probably because of the new idea highlighted here, the drama has started building its potential audience with its first few promos that are all on-air now on the channel.

It is yet not possible to make any guesses about the storyline as the team has kept the story much as a secret. However, with whatever been  available of social media websites, it can be concluded that the story revolves around the silence and miseries that are found within an individual.

Students as Beggars in Lahore

Recently our new government has completed its hundred days. Some days ago finance minister Ishaaq Daar has announced that Pakistan is getting a loan of twelve billion dollars from International Monetary Fund (IMF). While the federal government of PML-N is keeping its policy of begging loans from IMF and other countries of world, government of same party in Punjab has taken a step in different direction.  The step is to discourage begging, but its not government begging, its to discourage individuals from begging.

download

City district government has launched a campaign against beggars, and whoever find begging will be sent to social welfare homes. So far eighty seven (87) beggars have been caught and taken to welfare homes. Going further city government has taken a strange step to include students in this campaign too. Students will convince general public to not to give amount to beggars, but how will they do that. Well here is the planned activity for students.

Students will act as beggars on traffic signals of Lahore. They will beg amount like beggars (faqirs) from general public. But after begging the amount they will return it back, and tell that person giving amount to beggar is not the right thing to do. This way students will raise awareness among general public against beggars. City government thinks by creating awareness in such way eventually there will be a decline in amount given to beggars which eventually will discourage beggars as this field will become less lucrative.

To encourage participation of students, there is cash prize of One lakh for the student with the best performance, second prize is of fifty thousand rupees. So far the institutes participating in this campaign are GC University, University of Education and University of Veterenary and Animal Sciences. Here is the actual news published one day ago.

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 1 – A Good Start!

0

This show captured my interest when I was once flipping through the channels and I saw its promo with the beautiful OST in the background. The show attracted me enough to watch it and review it too. And after watching the first show, I am glad that I gave this show a try because the story looks amazing so far!

photo(33)The first episode revolved around the wedding celebrations of Qudsiya (Sajal Ali), the female protagonist of the show. She is an average middle class girl with no big dreams and a practical approach towards life; she just wants to lead a happy married life like any other girl. But unfortunately, her to be in-laws are one of those people who put pressure on the girl’s family to give huge dowry which they simply cannot afford.

photo(34)I never understand why the girl’s parents think that if they fulfill the demands of her to be-in laws then she would stay happy there. Qudsiya could have gotten better proposals than Shehzads’ and I failed to understand why her parents kept on fulfilling their demands one after the other when they should have broken the rishta a long time ago. Qudsiya was upset to see the way her parents were worried all the time because of her dowry, and she even made the decision to break the marriage. But thanks to the emotional blackmail done by her father, she had to give in and change her decision.

aasmanon pe likhaWe saw Aaliyan (Shehryar Munawar) in only one scene, but that scene was enough to make me fall in love with his character. He is the son of an established business man, and he may seem like a stern and practical business man, but there is softness in him that shows that he might be rich, but he is not arrogant or spoilt in any way. He treated Zaheer (Qudsiya’s father) with respect when he came to his office and although he refused him to give him the loan he wanted; he did not insult him in anyway but just straight forwardly told him the reason why he could not give him the loan, and I found his reason somewhat reasonable too. No firm would loan their employee an amount as big as 10 lakhs after it had already provided him with financial aid.

photo(36)The rest of the episode mainly revolved around the taunts and humiliation that Qudsiya’s family had to suffer because they could not live up to the expectations of her to be mother-in-law. Now Qudsiya’s marriage depends on the car that her in-laws had demanded, and this will most probably be the reason why her marriage would break. Cliched, right? Dowry is a social evil and the sad fact is that it still highly influences our society, and there are many people like Qudsiya’s in-laws that still exist in our society.

Sajjal Ali was truly brilliant in all of her scenes in this episode and her performance is definitely worth looking forward to. Shehryar Munawar was seen in only one scene but his performance in that scene was power packed, and I am really looking forward to see more of his scenes in the show. I want to get more insight into his character as I found his character very intriguing. Mohsin Mirza has also done a superb job with the direction of the show! Each scene had depth to it and was very well directed.

We all know what is going to happen next, thanks to the promos. I really wish they had not revealed this suspense though. It would have been more exciting to watch the show if we did not know how Aaliyan would get married to Qudsiya.

I feel that this show has a lot of potential and its pace is also very smooth so far. Those who have not seen the episode yet, do watch it for Sajjal and Shehryar’s performance. You would find some scenes worth skipping too, but overall it was a good episode.

Do share your opinion about the first episode as I would love to hear them!

Ehsam-ul-Haq Confirms his marriage failure –Sources!

0

Marriage is a beautiful bond which ties not only two people into a relationship but unite two different families as one. Now that the weddings are more like an attention seeking event in the showbiz industry, the audience always wants to know all about their favorite celebrities and the happenings in their personal lives.

Ehsam-ul-Haq has recently been going through a real tough time in his personal life. He was married to Faha Akmal, a Britain resident, the event was covered by media, making it as one of the most prominent marriages of the year. The couple also appeared on different shows and was seen passing cheesy compliments about their newly settled life but seems like things couldn’t work out for the two of them who have finally signed the divorce papers and are free all over again.

Aisam-ul-Haq-ties-the-knot-with-Faha-Makhdoom

The news is surely not a new one and has been a controversial topic in the showbiz industry since July when the news first emerged on Media. Though, the parents of both the parties denied the news by claiming that there is no major dispute in between the couple but Faha was honest in replying that things will soon be ending between her and Ehsam.

download (2)

Ehsam, who recently visited ‘special children home’ at Lahore, told media bluntly that all his bonds, relations and memories with Faha have reached their end and they share nothing in between at all. He said that he is now all focusing over his career and has no plan to remarry for a while. Though, he is hopeful that at some point in life, he will surely think about his second marriage.

Have a look at the video here:

It is really unpleasing news that the most anticipated marriage has failed badly.

Mere Humrahi Episode 6 – Ahad Is Back!

0

This week the story of the show progressed a bit further and we got to see some interesting scenes in the episode. The main highlight of the show was Ahad’s return, and how he reacted to the news of Haaniyah’s marriage to Ahmed. I would have preferred if his entry would have been a bit delayed so that we could see some progress in Ahmed and Haaniyah’s relationship before he re-entered their lives.

Ahad returned with no sense of remorse for abandoning Haaniyah one day before the wedding. He got a good tongue lashing from his father along with a slap that he truly deserved, but as expected it had no effect on him. In his opinion, he had the right to make his life’s decision and he did not want to be forced to get married when he was not ready.

photo(32)Haaniyah and Ahmed are now in an extremely awkward situation and Haaniyah is still not able to accept that Ahmed is a part of her life now. She pushes him back whenever he tries to make the situation less awkward between them. The situation is not easy for Ahmed to accept either, but he is trying his best to come to terms with it.

photo(31)‘Tum Aankhein Band Kerke Is Baat Se Moun Nahi Mour Sakhti Ke Ab Hume Saath Rehna Hai’

Haaniyah is trying her best to ignore Ahmed, but for how long? She would need to accept the situation one day or the other. I really felt bad for Ahmed in the scene where he tries to wipe Haaniyah’s tears and she moves back. Despite of her behavior, he is being extremely patient and understanding and this is one thing I really like about him.

photo(30)Ahad was in for a huge shock when he got to know about Ahmed and Haaniyah’s wedding. He looked at everyone like they had committed a huge crime! And I was glad that his mother finally gave him a piece of her mind. I loved the scene where she taunted him on his face that why he cares who Haaniyah gets married to since he already left her without a second thought! Shehzad sheikh really needs to work on his expressions; he had the same expression on his face when he was surprised, shocked and angry.

photo(28)What annoyed me the most was Haaniyah’s reaction when Ahad came back; she was all happy and her whole face lit up until she remembered that she was now married to his brother. Technically, she should hate him for what he had done to her, but it seems that she is still incapable of showing such an emotion.

Samina is not going to change her ways anytime soon and I agree with Zaheer (Samina’s brother) that she has turned like this because of all the support she gets from her mother. He even tried to explain to his mother to leave her alone and let her get settled in her own life, but she took it in the wrong way and blamed Afshah for brainwashing his son. I have always liked the patient and understanding nature of Afshah and I like the fact that she always uses a practical approach to deal with all her problems.

photo(29)Haaniyah’s parents were shown extremely worried about her future and were impatiently waiting for her to come at their house to see if she was okay. Haaniyah has always had a very strong bond with her father, and I loved the flashbacks they showed in this episode. She has not spoken much after her wedding but she finally opened up in front of her father and shared her feelings with him. Her father consoled her and gave her the assurance that time will make you adjust with the situation. I am pretty sure time is what Ahmed and Haaniyah’s relationship needs right now.

They are still using Humsafar’s back ground music in many scenes and I cannot seem to concentrate on the scene whenever it plays in the background! The show has a nice OST which can be used in the background; I wish they would use it!

From the next episode, the concentration would be on Ahmed and Haaniyah’s relationship hopefully, and I am really looking forward to that.

Do share your opinion about the episode as I would love to hear them.

Woh – Episode 03

0

The horror element of the play stayed intact even in this third episode but I have to say that I was slightly disappointed because the first few minutes of the episode were completely wasted in showing the entire scene from the previous episode all over again. A precap of what had happened in the last episode would have been enough. Apart from that I felt like two of the scenes in this episode were inspired by the film “Jeepers Creepers”. The scene in which Mehr’s brother has no eyes and the other one in which Mehr’s possessed side gets up from the bed to take a closer look at Faisal. I remember this was the exact same way the creature in Jeepers Creepers used to sniff his prey before eating it. If we put these minor shortcomings and lack of creativity here and there aside, the fact is that Woh is very scary and entertaining indeed and I really appreciate that.

woh

The demon has decided to reveal itself to Faisal’s mother and Saba, which has caused Faisal to reconsider his non belief in paranormal creatures. Sadly enough, those of us who read the “plot” of the play online know only too well where the story is going to go from here. Even the ending has already been given away while elaborating the plot. I would like to request the people responsible for this huge blooper to kindly be more careful. The idea of summing up the plot is that you give the viewer a short synopsis of what the story is basically about and not tell them how things will be resolved in the end. if  i hadn’t read the plot outline online i would have thought that there maybe some murders and gruesome acts coming our way in the future but now I know the story will not take that turn. I must appreciate the writer for not overdoing the demon bit but still keeping the horror element alive and the director deserves credit for filming the horror scenes in such a way that they keep you at the edge of your seat.

The most important development in this recent episode was the change of mind that Faisal is having and also the way Mehr and Faisal are getting closer to each other. I would have liked some of the scenes to be shorter and wrapped up quickly. There was plenty of Mehr and Faisal in this episode, it would have been nice to see Mehr interacting with Saba as well but there were no such scenes. It has been well established that Mehr and Faisal are meant to be together  – a match made in heaven truly. Shamoon Abbasi and Arij Fatima definitely have a good on screen chemistry.

woh2

Ruqqaiya’s growing fears were portrayed very well; she asks the maid to stay for the night because she is very sure that she doesn’t want to be alone at night. If I hadn’t read the plot I would have expected that Ruqqaiya will eventually pressurize Faisal into ending the marriage but that is not going to happen. I am glad though that the play will have a happy ending because I wanted just that but I would have been happier if the happy ending came as a surprise!

The good news is that the play is doing well in terms of viewership so the Woh team has announced that there will be a part 2 of the show soon after this one ends. I have a feeling that it is going to be something brand new and not a sequel. The Woh team has done a commendable job till now but it is my request to people who  run the web page that they should not give away the entire plot as well as the ending because that kills more than half of the fun for the viewers who do not like spoilers.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 01.

The drama has begun on a good note with decent characterization & more importantly no such difficult character till now. I liked how the whole idea progressed & that is just too good for a start. The cast has been chosen wisely for which I am definitely giving a try to this one. But yeah, I did find the names a bit too hard to understand & pronounce, I guess simpler names would’ve sufficed too. :)

The plot of the story revealed a bit too clearly when the encounter of ‘burger’ & ‘bun kabab’ happened. Ahsan Khan (Arez) belongs to a middle class, where he is the bread-earner of the family with his fair share of responsibilities which he has to fulfill. His family consists of his mother, a sister & his brother. Where the whole family is dependent on Arez, his mother wants him to not even think of getting married before his younger sister does.

The other family is that of Javed Sheikh’s who is a business tycoon with two of his daughters. I found the idea of ‘ghar damad’ in the elite class a bit too nicely clad because if a son-in-law lives with his wife’s family in the middle class, it is considered as something awful whereas being in the upper social class, I guess this taboo is totally ignored beneath the wad of cash. Ally Khan (Rehbar) is married to Nosheen Shah (Eva) – the eldest daughter living with her father. Rehbar, who not only is involved in his father-in-law’s business is also quite interested in the life of sister-in-law Mehwish Hayat (Ishaal). Ishal, who has studied in the UK, the youngest & for now the center of everyone’s attention, is actually being forced to get married whereas she thinks she just isn’t ready for such a commitment. Ishal’s father is being a bit too keen to hook her up with this over-aged (as compared to Ishaal of course) but well-settled businessman Shahraiz, but I kind of liked the idea that Ishaal at first got uncomfortable & then candid with Arez, who happens to be his employee. Even though Shahraiz is also well settled but he is ‘down-to-earth’ like Ishaal’s father labeled him as, which seemed to be something unacceptable in their mind-set.

Ishaal’s character so far looks boisterous & that of a strong-headed extrovert girl who loves things her way. Arez who is confident about himself for sure is calm & decent with just one motivation & focus to do everything well for his own family. His family seems really close-knit where his mother completely relies on him as he is the eldest.

I found it odd that even though Ishaal disagreed & showed clear signs of not being interested in Shahraiz, her father still insisted her meeting with him. He does look like a decent man but defintely he’s not the types Ishaal would fall for. Interestingly, he has given the responsibility to Arez for taking care of Ishaal all this while she refurbishes their office which for sure will lead things the way they both couldn’t have imagined.

I liked the feel of the drama & all the characters as well. I feel the actors are doing their jobs nicely & I wish, I really wish that this drama in terms of story-line proves to be a good roller-coaster ride rather than the characters taking those flips & turns which would get too tedious to follow. I say that after giving a thought to writer’s recent drama ‘Silvatein’. So for now I am really excited to see how the story progresses as it has started off really well.

Aseer Zadi Episode 5 – Shahab’s Second Marriage!

0

This week’s episode was way better than the previous one. The story has finally progressed and we saw a quick wedding of Maira and Shahab, and the behavior of all the members of the family towards Maira. The two Bibi’s were the only people who gave her a heart-warming welcome. Maira finally saw the trailer of what happens with the people who go against Badi Sarkar’s wishes. What surprised me the most was Yasmeen’s behavior; it is understandable that it must be really hard for her to see Shahab with his second wife, but gifting Maira white clothes and predicting a same fate for her as her own was not right in my opinionphoto(25)Shahab is a very calm and patient person and seeing him slapping Yasmeen was a big shock for me. But Yasmeen words were plain cruel and maybe anyone would have reacted in the same way. She pushed Shahab away from herself when Shahab did not want that, and now she cannot bear to see him with anyone else. Shahab tried his best to stand up for his wife but he became helpless in front of Badi Sarkar. He has tried to go against Badi Sarkar many times in the past too for his Bibis but Badi Sarkar listens to nobody, not even her husband.

photo(26)Peer Jalal keeps away from the matters of the haveli and they are left to Badi Sarkar. Shahab is always left disappointed when he fails to convince Badi Sarkar and complains to his father about the situation, who in turn advices him to compromise instead of trying to reason with Badi Sarkar. In this episode when he complained about Badi Sarkar’s treatment with Maira, Peer Jalal told him not to give the matter so much importance as it is best left to the women of the house. Women are simply a shugal for Peer Jalal and the only advice he ever has for his son is to give absolutely no importance to women. Sometimes I wonder how Shahab can be the son of Badi Sarkar and Peer Jalal; he is the complete opposite of them both. Their way of thinking and mindset has never influenced him and he respects every person in the family.

photo(21)I absolutely loved the chemistry between Maira and Shahab. The scene where he takes her hand and brings her inside the haveli with all the respect she deserves was one of my favorite scenes in the episode. Their sizzling chemistry was evident from the few scenes they had together in this episode. Another scene which I loved was the one in which Shahab rudely tells Fatima to sit at the back and politely asks Maira to come sit in the front with him in the car. He showed Fatima her place by doing this and she was highly offended by his rude behavior. She is surely going to take revenge from Maira for her humiliation in the near future.

photo(24)Fatima’s head is always on the seventh sky because she is regarded by Badi Sarkar as the asli bahu of the haveli. I was completely shocked by the way she grabbed Shahab’s hand and practically dragged him to the car and that too in front of everyone! In her mind, she is already the real bahu of the haveli which makes her think that she has a right to do anything she likes.

Shahab showed how much he respects the Bibis when he took Maira to their room first instead of Badi Sarkars’. For him, Bibi’s dua’s were more important to him than his own mothers’. He was even upset that they did not come outside to greet Maira. Amna was once again hilarious in her scene where she gives the sukoon ki tablets to Maira as a gift. Her scenes always make me laugh out loud!

Overall the episode was entertaining and now we will get to see how Maira would adjust herself in the haveli. Shahab will always try to support her in all situations, and judging from the preview of the next episode he will also prove to be a caring husband.

Ainie Jafferi and Noor Hassan both were brilliant in this episode. I always found both of them as weak actors, but they have finally showed improvement in this show.

Do share your opinion about the episode; I would love to hear them!

Till Next Week

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Episode 06.

Finally Arham & Areeba are tying the knot & everybody is stoked about it. Even though Arham is skeptical about hiding the truth from his wife-to-be, Samina & even Areeba don’t feel it’s the right thing to do. Areeba is ready to accept Arham for his present & the upcoming future but is least bothered about the past. I think it is the right thing to do but for our sake, the reality should be revealed. ;)

Ohkay, this episode made it clear that Narmeen is not only evil or negative but is also a psychopath. She at first wanted Arham all by herself & just exactly the way she liked it. But just the sight of Shahiq made her regret the decision she took. I was shocked to see the changing colors of both ‘ma, beti’. Chalo, Narmeen is mentally handicapped to think things through but how can her mother just support her daughter in every move that she makes?

I found one thing as a finality that Arham has no opinion of his own. He just likes to follow the lead of others. He changed himself for Narmeen, changed what he loved doing & what he liked to carry just for the sake of this girl. Then just because Narmeen had brain-fed him, he was ready to get into argument with his father. At this point I thought ‘mutawwa baghawat pe utar aya’. I mean it sounded just so unlike Arham to get into some sort of uneasy dialogue with his father where all this while he was seen as a modest person. Even coming to the present, where he feels it’s right to let Areeba know about the past, he just followed the lead of his mother. I think this trait of him makes him a weakling.

Once again I had to listen to the dialogue ‘Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai’. OHKAY! A shout out to the whole team & the dialogue writer in particular that WE KNOW what the name of the drama serial is, can we please NOT listen to this again. I don’t know how can such facts be ignored which we were taught in class 6th I guess. I remember our Urdu teacher taught us that the word used for Almighty is only Allah, Khuda is not the right term & also ‘Allah Miyan’ whereas Areeba said it. Not exaggerating but I swear I cringe every time I hear the word Khuda. It just sounds so odd & inappropriate.

Anyhow, things have progressed a bit more & we’re close to unveiling of the reality. Till now the grounds have been established pretty well that Narmeen would be the one at fault. It was nice to see that Arham & Shahiq shared such a nice brotherly bonding before everything happened but now it’s just Shahiq who is busy in his business & Arham who is depressed & they have no relation left whatsoever plus I don’t see Shahiq making any effort towards fixing his relation with Arham too, either he is busy with himself or his wife. Arham has started to change towards the good so let’s see what more can Areeba do in order to sort the uneasy situations.

I appreciate that Ayesha Khan has undone her funny braids which just looked like some unsuccessful attempts at looking younger, she looks fine this way but I feel she has started to pout a bit too much while talking which shows that she is putting a lot more effort in speaking. For the first time I noticed the shades of dyes Shakeel Sahab has used in his beard. I think the hair-dresser must’ve had a hard time in getting those shades right. I think it’s important to age gracefully rather than the otherwise.

Rishtey Kuch Adhoorai se – Sisters Rivalry

0

This episode has nothing new to tell yet it gave us certain minutes issues to discuss.Starting from Gaiti curiosity to solve out Nikah issue arosed due to her absence from home, her every action shows that she loves Arsal and want him in her life desperately. For that purpose ,her argument with mother was a complete dose of emotional drama.Once again Irsa gee and Gaiti stole the show.

I really like how Gaiti’s father show concern towards his daughters , despite of the fact that he is not at all a perfect husband. He didnot arise any question when Arsal sent a cell phone gift for Gaiti.Or aiteraaz hota bhi kaisai..Gaiti and Arsal are an official couple now.Gaiti was so confused that what should be her next step and in the meanwhile Arsal called him. I was really shocked to see that Arsal is no more different from typical husbands.I can see clear difference in his attitude after Nikah. But at the same time, it was natural too.Because for him,Gaiti is his wife and any wife on very first day after Nikah cannot disconnect phone call when her husband tries to congratulate him.

Kiran reaction after coming to know that Arsal is coming to take Gaiti along with him was quite surprising for me. I thought that after that Nikah incident ,she will wholly solely try to make her sister satisfied and happy.. Par yahan kuch or he daikhnay ko mila.Kiran was considering herself to be his official wife and at many points like on their way to home and when Dadi gave those Family Kangan to Gaiti, Kiran’s jealousy was at its peak. Gaiti ,on the other hand was equally feeling uncomfortable after observing ultra friendly attitude of Kiran with Arsal.

Today,I also came to know that “saas tou saas he hoti hai”. One can easily observe that jealousy in Arsal’s mother eyes, when Dadi gave those Kangan to Gaiti. And Alia’s post-meeting discussion with her mother narrated rest of the story too. Alia, finally got succeeded in influencing her mother regarding her views about Gaiti.

Gaiti wanted to tell everything to her Dad and for that purpose she went to her Dad and inspite of narrating whole story, she returned to her mother. It was only because of her father’s height of frustration and anger for new millennium youth. He said it rightly that youth of our country is ruining itself.

Till now, every scene of this show is perfectly executed and performed well by every single character. But I am really looking forward for some unexpected twists and turns that will make every episode eventful.
