The Best On-Screen Couples Of 2016

This year the viewers got to watch many gifted actors sharing screen space but only few of them managed to create that magic on screen which blew the viewers away and made their on screen couples memorable. When the viewers find themselves completely engrossed in whatever is going on in the lives of two people who are shown as a couple in a drama and they can’t help but root for them then you know they have the chemistry needed to make their on screen couple a complete success. There are some actors in our industry who are so capable that they manage to pull off every character assigned to them but they don’t always manage to click perfectly with the other actor they might be sharing screen with. Therefore creating magic on screen takes not just two people but a whole team which knows how to create this magic.

Writing and direction also plays a crucial role in make an on-screen couple a success. The characters, circumstances, dialogues and how all this is shown on screen determines whether the viewers will be able to relate to these couples or not. Sometimes the relationships of the actors with each other in real life also influence their chemistry on screen.

Here is the list of the best on-screen couples of 2016, the list is in alphabetical order in terms of drama title.

Washma and Shaheer (Aap Ke Liye)

This couple was a true depiction of ‘opposites attract’. Washma, a boisterous, loud, carefree, childlike girl and Shaheer a disciplined, mature, focused and serious man, actually came together and fell in love because they both completed and complemented each other in so many different ways. Shaheer brought Washma into his life because he wanted to prove to his ex-wife that he was doing just fine without her, but never did he imagine that he would actually fall in love with a girl like her as she introduced him to a completely different perspective and approach towards life. Shaheer never imagined that a care-free girl like Washma could actually exemplify what loyalty means.

Washma gives this entire marriage with the boss a whirl because of being on a look out for a new adventure in her life after getting rejected by her fiancé, only to realize what true love meant after being with Shaheer for such a short span of time. What made this couple’s journey even better was how they both realized that they were missing out on so much in life when they were not together. Washma, who was indifferent to everything grew so much into this relationship that she made Shaheer’s concerns her own and wanted to protect him from getting hurt. Arij Fatima and Faysal Qureshi shared the screen as Washma and Shaheer and elevated the level of the drama because their characters and their acting were only the good things about Aap Ke Liye. Faysal Qureshi and Arif Fatima had to make their odd couple look good and they most certainly achieved that by creating a perfect chemistry between each other with their flawless performances.

shaheer-washma

Haider and Mishi (Besharam)

Besharam drama definitely was a portrayal of a unique love story, but what made this love story shine more was the chemistry between Zahid Ahmed and Saba Qamar. The writer Sarwat Nazeer even though wrote the characters of Mishi and Haider beautifully, but what those characters unique and even more beautiful was the perfect portrayal conducted by Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmed. Both Saba and Zahid are effortless when it comes to acting on their own, but together, having such a harmony and understanding in making their on-screen couple look realistic was something phenomenal.

The viewers fell in love with Haider and Mishi’s couple because of the way their situations were written and how they both worked, every step of the way to nurture their relationship. Haider and Mishi’s couple was one such couple that actually seemed normal because they did everything that usually all the married couples do, like have a conversation over a cup of coffee, surprise each other with gifts, compliment each other, discuss their daily routines, appreciate each other’s efforts, show respect and understanding towards each other’s decisions and most importantly, motivate each other to achieve their goals. Haider and Mishi’s couple came as a breath of fresh air because where everyone assumed that they will fall prey to the circumstances and will fall apart by succumbing to the external pressures, Haider and Mishi strengthened their relationship more by passing through all these tests. Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmed surely looked comfortable with each other, that is why in all those couple scenes, they didn’t seem to be acting at all. It is safe to say that if it wasn’t for Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmed’s perfect acting and beautiful chemistry, Haider and Mishi’s couple wouldn’t have made such an impact.

haider-mishi

Mohid and Anmol (Dillagi)

Anmol and Mohid were two powerful characters who were complete opposites and who proved very convincingly that opposites really do attract! The relationship between these characters was complicated and that was the beauty of this on-screen couple. The way these complications turned into a gratifying happy ending was another beautiful aspect of this drama as a whole. Although Dillagi had quite a few strong supporting characters to its credit but an episode in which Anmol and Mohid didn’t have one of those deep, meaningful and emotional conversations did not work for the viewers. Mohid’s conviction in his love for Anmol and his wisdom was completely different from Anmol’s rigidity and impulsiveness. The manner in which Anmol gradually fell for Mohid and they ultimately lived happily ever after without making any changes or compromises was just plain perfect!

Mohid and Anmol’s couple is in this list because drama serial Dillagi banked heavily on their “connection” and their scenes together. the credit for the success of this on-screen couple goes to the writer, director and the actors involved. All these talented individuals put in their best effort to make Dillagi a love story which was simple amazing. These two characters gave Hamayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat a new introduction which is another reason why this couple should be in this list.

dil-lagi

Malik and Zarri (Mana Ka Gharana)

Even though Shamil Khan and Erum Akhtar were playing the role of supporting characters, they definitely took a front seat in terms of being the best on-screen couple in the drama Mana Ka Gharana because of the subdued yet amazing chemistry between both of them. Malik and Zarri came into each other’s lives when they both were going through a rough patch, where Malik was still struggling with the betrayal of his wife and Zarri still had the same feelings about Malik years after Malik called their engagement off because he fell in love with someone else. At first, Zarri did seem meddlesome but as their story progressed, it became evident that Zarri hadn’t forgiven Malik for how he left her in the lurch but still she chose to remain unmarried as she couldn’t move on. There were so many unspoken confessions which didn’t need words because both Malik and Zarri’s eyes were a declaration of their feelings towards each other.

Mana Ka Gharana was probably one such unique drama where the viewers were rooting for supporting on-screen couple more than the main lead couple because their chemistry outbid everyone else’s. Shamil Khan & Erum Akhtar portrayed the characters with so much maturity that the viewers became more interested in their track. If there’s one word that can describe their on-screen couple and their chemistry, it would be ‘charming’.

malik-zarri

Ramish and Elma (Tum Kon Piya)

This was the most unusual love story of a couple which was not meant to be together yet their scenes together and their relationship with each other was a constant part of this drama. Ramish and Elma’s love story was shown in a creative manner; those long beautiful romantic conversations were always imagined and Ramish was Elma’s guardian angel right till the end. Ramish’s character was delightful and believable, Elma’s character was quite simple and didn’t have anything new to offer but Ayeza Khan managed to make the most of it. At the end of the day it was Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan’s undeniable chemistry which made them a complete success. Also, Yasir Nawaz’s appealing direction and Maha Malik’s eloquent dialogues raised this typical love story into something many viewers enjoyed watching.

The viewers who followed this drama never had a difficult time relating to the feelings of these characters. In this relationship love meant giving the other person unconditional respect which also made the connection between Ramish and Elma unique. This was also one of those rare love stories in which there were absolutely no misunderstandings.

tum-kon-piya

Arsh and Meeran (Udaari)

Farhan Saeed and Urwa Hocane’s magical on-screen chemistry was not a coincidence because they are a real-life couple as well. Arsh and Meeran’s love story wasn’t just another love story either. It was a relationship between two people, one of whom was very willing to accept the other but Meeran, because of her past was unable to accept Arsh’s proposal or express her love for him. Farhan Saeed’s charm and natural acting made his character more appealing. Urwa Hocane was very convincing as Meeran as well.

Arsh and Meeran both had unique personality characteristics which made their on-screen couple more interesting. There were times when Arsh decided to stop making an effort and there were also episodes in which Meeran decided she needed to draw a line. The viewers were rooting for these two to be together throughout and the ending pleased everyone.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

The best on-screen characters are those which are unusual, intriguing, realistic, easy to connect to, deep and layered. The viewers got to see many interesting characters in dramas this year which challenged stereotypes and were etched-out brilliantly. These characters retained their charm and were appealing right till the end of the shows they were a part of. A proper introduction, defining the relationship of these characters with rest of the characters around them and a certain degree of character development also played an important role in making the viewers relate to these characters. A well-etched-out character doesn’t always have to be a positive one, sometimes the negative characters have the same pull as the positive ones and at times even more.

Here is a list of the best on-screen characters of 2017.

Shamim (Sang e Marmar)

A woman who lived her entire life as an obedient wife and a doting mother and even after doing so much for her family, she had no control over any matter but even then, it didn’t stop her from speaking her heart out when it came to truth and honesty. Shamim was all about being just and when it came to it, she didn’t even mind standing up to her husband or even her children. A woman who could be stern one moment but a complete mother figure the next, it was endearing to see a character like her on-screen!

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Torah Khan (Sang e Marmar)

Despite being a negative and dark character, Torah Khan was the talk of the town because he was running the show. He was a victim and he was a villain as well but the best part about his character what that even when he emerged as a villain, everyone still had sympathy for him because of what he went through. A man who could instigate wars without even batting an eyelid, he sure was a treat to watch.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Arman (Muqabil)

Arman’s character was anything but typical. Usually the heroes in our drama are men who are affluent and have certain personality traits. Arman on the other hand was a typical boy who didn’t even have a proper career but what worked in his favour was the fact that he was honest, reliable as well as practical. Usually most heroes in Pakistani dramas fall in love with their good-looking heroines mainly because of their looks but Arman only fell in love with Pareesa after he found out that she felt he could protect her. Arman’s character broke the stereotypical hero image and made the viewers fall in love with his character.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Pareesa (Muqabil)

Pareesa was a child abuse victim who grew up to be a girl fighting a war within herself and with everyone else around her. Although Pareesa had completely lost her faith in relationships but the love she felt for her flowers and the way she felt about her maid’s daughter went to show that she felt the need to protect someone(something) which was vulnerable. Pareesa’s messed up state of mind was shown brilliantly through her actions, getting married to Arman was one such decision which showed how self-destructive she was. Pareesa’s character was powerful and intriguing.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Aalyan (Sammi)

Aalyan’s character in Sammi was like a breath of fresh air, he was the only person who stood up for the rights of others in a community where everyone looked after their own interests. Everything he said or did was backed by solid logic. His character was written beautifully and enacted equally well on screen. This character showed how proper education and exposure can open people’s minds in more ways than one.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Naheed (Sammi)

Naheed’s character in Sammi highlighted how even a working woman who is fully aware of her rights can easily be subjugated by a brother who fails to see her as a living and breathing human being let a lone a sister. Naheed’s continuous attempts to help other people she crossed paths with even though her own circumstances were quite grim made her a positive character. Naheed’s trials and her strengths were penned down perfectly by the writer and translated superbly on screen by Nadia Afghan.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Naheed’s Brother (Sammi)

Although Naheed’s brother’s character was a negative one but it showed a certain mindset with perfection. A brother who thought it was his right to usurp his sister’s share and charge her for living in her parents house and one who did not allow her to get married even because he was afraid that her spouse might help her get her share. This character was a perfect representation of all such brothers out there and must have given a few people a reason to reflect upon their actions.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Shahzaib, Chota Chaudhry (Sammi)

Like many other characters in drama serial Sammi, this one too had a story to tell. Shahzaib’s character showed how children adopt things from their surroundings whether good or bad. Shahzaib’s character development also showed how proper education and a mentor could turn things around for children like Shahzaib.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Dariya (Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua)

Dariya’s character is in this list because although she is part of a love triangle yet there isn’t an ounce of desperation in the way she interacts with the man she loves but has very little hope of getting. The amount of self-respect she has sets her apart from other characters which the viewers would put in the same category. Dariya is practical, sensitive, intelligent and extremely likeable.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Naheed (Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hei)

Naheed had to be one of the finest female protagonists this year. Naheed’s character was that of a brave woman who fought against all odds to live her life independently with integrity on her own terms and conditions. A woman who refused to let the men in her life exploit her and proved that if a woman wants she can achieve everything she wants.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Bibi Sahiba (Dumpukht – Aatish-e-Ishq)

Bibi Sahiba’s character was another one this year which was powerful as well as intriguing. Bibi Sahiba had some major strengths and a few vulnerabilities which at times made it look like she could do anything at all for the man she so dearly loved. In the end however she turned out to be the real hero and just like every other character played by Saman Ansari, Bibi Sahiba too had a big surprise in store for the viewers. Bibi Sahiba’s poise and elegance was another aspect of her personality which made her character look even more appealing on screen. Bibi Sahiba’s character and the manner in which it was translated on screen was one of the best aspects of drama serial Dumpukht – Aatish-e-Ishq.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Najma (Khuda Aur Mohabbat)

One positive character that despite not having a family of her own knew how to form such relationships with love, respect and care. Najma came in Hammad’s life as a sister, a guide and a support system when he had no where to go to and it was only because of Najma, that he decided to shape up his future. Hammad and Najma’s conversations were not only meaningful and deep but used to be the highlight of the episodes.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Ghafoor (Khuda Aur Mohabbat)

Ghafoor was one such person who had nothing to give to Hammad except his support and time, which were two such things that Hammad needed the most. Ghafoor’s character depicted that you don’t have to be rich to influence someone, all you need is a good and a big heart to accommodate someone in your life.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Daniyal (Yakeen Ka Safar)

A man who stood by the right, against all odds. Daniyal was a man of his word and that is why despite facing one obstacle after the other, he didn’t back out from the promise he made to the rape victim that he was supporting. Daniyal knew that his life was in danger but even that didn’t stop him because for him, bringing justice to one person was worth sacrificing his life for. Daniyal surely made a place in the heart for the viewers that is why his death left everyone teary eyed.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Zubiya (Yakeen Ka Safar)

After coming from a dysfunctional family and committing a big mistake in her early life, Zubiya not only picked herself up but made sure to become so strong that she could empower all such women who she found weak and vulnerable. Zubiya spent years and years facing the brunt of her past mistakes but she didn’t let it deter her once she made up her mind that she was not going to let her past shape up her future.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Asfand Yar (Yakeen Ka Safar)

A happy go lucky guy who never ever imagined that his life will take away a few of people that he dearly loved; his brother and his fiancée and after facing such hardships, he was forced to change but only for the better. Asfand believed in helping others no matter what and even though he closed the doors of his heart completely, he never really allowed that to stop him from doing good to others. Asfand also happens to be someone who was truly dedicated to his profession, that is why he ended up garnering so much of respect for his selfless efforts.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Haroon (Yeh Raha Dil)

After a long time, the drama buffs came across a dad as cool as Haroon who had a great sense of humor but a lot of wisdom as well. Haroon was one of those rare fathers who saw fault in his own son and was completely aware of his son’s shortcomings. All the things that Haroon would say to his son Zaki made his character likeable because he not only gave him lessons to lead a good life but also kept him in check of his deeds.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Fatima (Yeh Raha Dil)

Fatima was honest and someone who unapologetically owned everything that she did. She was a mix of sugar and spice, where despite having a rocky relationship with her husband, she did everything to make sure that her daughter doesn’t face the brunt of it and she was open to correction, that is why after her step daughter tried to show her the right path, she happily followed.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Hayat (Yeh Raha Dil)

A girl who selflessly loved her people, be it her friends or her family. Hayat was all about honesty and she was so self-sufficient that when faced with one of the biggest challenges of her life, she accepted it with a smile on her face. It was refreshing to see a character like Hayat who had nothing but a whole lot of confidence in herself that she can achieve whatever she dreams of.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Sassi (O Rangreza)

A girl who is unapologetically herself, who doesn’t have any filters and she is someone who doesn’t believe in societal boundaries. Sassi even at such a tender age has no hesitation in going all out for what she wants to achieve even if it means putting herself in danger. Sassi wants nothing but a thrilling life that too which she will shape up on her own terms and it is interesting to see a character like her that has so many shades.

The Best On-Screen Characters Of 2017

Do share your thoughts about these characters and don’t forget to add new names to the list. We would love to hear from you guys!

The Best On-Screen Characters

A drama needs a strong storyline and well etched-out characters in order to stand out in the crowd. Also, the right cast which is given the task of translating these characters on screen makes a huge difference too. Sometimes a character which is rather simple becomes extraordinary because the actor playing the role brings out the best in his or her character. At other times the acting skills might not be top-notch all the time but the character is written so well that the viewers find it easy to connect to it even if the dialogue delivery or body language does not fit the bill every now and then.

best characters1_Fotor

Nowadays many of the writers bank on shortcuts to make their characters attractive. The bechari aurat is the easiest and most commonly used shortcut. Black and white characters are also considered an easy way to gain the sympathies of the viewers or to make them hate a character. What makes an on-screen character truly impressive is firstly when it is not clichéd, secondly it is not one-dimensional and most importantly the viewers should be able to relate to the character. Whether the character is good, bad or grey the motives and personality traits of the character should not confuse the viewers. If a character is unpredictable then that is great but if they do something which is completely opposite to their main personality traits which define that character then the viewers lose interest and feel frustrated.

Out of all the plays I am currently following, here is the list of the characters which can easily be termed as the best!

Sitara from Mein Sitara

Mein Sitara is the story of a young girl who is born in a poor family but fate has something completely different planned for her future. Sitara’s character was intriguing and appealing right from the first episode. Her own personality and the relationship she shared with all the other characters has been very well defined from the beginning. Even as a child Sitara was not just another child, she was a misfit in her family and also very stubborn. The reason why Sitara’s character is on top of this list is that it is a unique character and it is one of those rare characters whose journey is shown to the viewers from childhood therefore the viewers understand her character even more. You don’t get to hear how Sitara’s childhood was but you see it on screen. The actress who played the young Sitara was just as phenomenal as Saba Qamar as Sitara.

Sitaraa

This character holds your attention and makes you look forward to more because it is etched-out impeccably and has been translated on-screen faultlessly. Sitara’s journey and her character both are enthralling.

Imtiaz from Udaari

Imtiaz’s character is all black but the reason why it is in this list is that it is the perfect portrayal of a very ugly face of not just our society but of every such pedophile. Imtiaz’s character helps people understand the mindset behind such heinous crimes and also gives all the right messages to the parents and anyone involved. Firstly, this character shows that a pedophile isn’t always someone who has a bad reputation. Imtiaz has a great reputation, he is respected by all and trusted by everyone too including his wife. Also, it shows how these people use rewards to gain the trust of children and use intimidating tactics after committing the crime to frighten children.

imtiaz_Fotor

Ahsan Khan has been beyond brilliant as Imtiaz. He makes you forget every other character he has played till date because he owns this character. He said in an interview that he wanted to kill Imtiaz while reading the script but he decided to do this role because he knew it would be noticed.

Sheedan from Udaari

Sheedan is a breath of fresh air, not because she is funny and loud but because she is self-reliant! There are hardly any women in our dramas who are as independent and strong as Sheedan is. Sheedan relied on her husband for emotional needs only, other than that she can make important decisions, earn money and protect her kids all on her own. Bushra Ansari has proved that she was the perfect choice for playing this character.

Sheedan_Fotor

Sheedan is also a role-model as a mother – she believed her daughter and took a stand for her even when the odds were against her. Sheedan is not modern or educated, sometimes she even lacks basic manners but in many ways she is more ‘enlightened’ than many other modern mothers we see in our dramas very often. Bushra Ansari has nailed this character  not only because she is a gifted actress but also because she sings very beautifully too.

Mohid and Anmol’s mothers from Dil Lagi

Saba Hameed is a versatile actress who always manages to give her best performance in every drama. She also has her own style in every drama which somehow shows her ‘interpretation’ of the character she is performing. Mohid’s mother can be very unreasonable at times but whatever she does, she does it because she wants to protect her children. She is the perfect example of a strong woman who thinks that a woman does not need a man to live a happy life. The way her relationship with her daughter-in-law has been shown is also another reason why she is one of my favorite characters right now; although she clearly has issues with Anmol yet she also has a life!!! She is not shown conspiring all the time to break this marriage which is definitely brand new!! Mohid’s mother is not perfect, she has her flaws but her character is still one-of-a-kind!

mohidanmolmothers

Asma Abbas is playing the character of Anmol’s mother in drama serial Dil Lagi. She is also a remarkable actress who adds a special touch to all the characters she plays. She plays the role of a mother who is somewhat conventional but she has raised two very unconventional and outspoken daughters. Instead of letting these daughters have their way all the time, she knows when to put her foot down. She tells Anmol right from wrong not because she is afraid of what people will say but because she wants the best for her daughters. Her character stands out because generally the mothers in our dramas play second fiddle to the fathers or are completely helpless when they have strong headed daughters.

Ramish from Tum Kon Piya

Drama Serial Tum Kon Piya is definitely not in the same league as the rest of the dramas on the list but so far it has been a decent watch. Imran Abbas is playing the character of Ramish – a character which stands out in a family of stereotypes. Ramish knows how to take a stand for himself and he also believes in loving unconditionally. There are times when Imran Abbas’ acting is not up to the mark but on the whole he is well-suited for this role and the writer deserves credit for creating a levelheaded character which the viewers can relate to.

ramish

I am sure there are many viewers out there who will have a lot of new names to add to this list, please feel free to do so and also share your reasons for adding these characters to the list!

Looking forward to your feedback.

The Ban On Geo TV Is Null and Void

0

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) committee suspended the licenses of three television channels, Geo News, Geo Tez and Geo Entertainment, owned by the Geo TV network due to the recent controversy. However, after an hour of statements and counter-statements and utter confusion, the management of the authority said that the meeting itself was illegal, adding that any decisions taken by it were null and void.

The senior journalists and people attached with the media expressed their sentiments on Social Networking Sites. Most of these people were against this ban because of different reasons. Here is what they had to say

The ultimate decision on the revocation of the licenses will be announced on May 28, when the next PEMRA meeting is to be held which will also be attended by government representatives.

Mir Shakeel, the owner of the channel said in a petition that why wasn’t action being taken against ARY channel. Shaista has apologized 26 times but on the other hand ARY aired the same programme 60 times.

He also said that because blasphemy laws have become more strict, there was a tendency to label the accusation of blasphemy by Muslims against Muslims for settling their scores.

He said that he did not play any role in script writing, production or direction of the said episode even then he has been implicated in the case.

The Art Of Break- Up

0

If you have ever been in a relationship then you would know the most difficult part of any relationship is, no; not telling the other person how you feel about them, no; not saving up to take the love of your life on a date, and no certainly not telling your parents about your soul mate. It is coming up with that one, convincing break up line that will set you free after you have spent enough time or more than enough time in a saturated relationship.

You ponder for hours, try to imagine her reaction, how will she take it and then you have to choose a safe place to take her to perform this much anticipated act of bravery that will inevitably result in your freedom. That will open the path way for brighter horizons and greener pastures.

You have everything in order, you have practiced that heart wrenching tone over and over again, your heart breaking expression is perfect with hours of practice in front of a mirror (that you did of course ages ago before your first break up) but still you have doubts about that one final blow that will end your misery. You have therefore rehearsed a number of break-up lines, just in case. If one doesn’t deliver the desired results, you can always have the other to fall back on. But since you are a pacifist at heart, you want to keep it as humane as possible, least possible pain and still the eradication of the problem.

Untitled

You will of course start with that one, innocent line that you know is harmless “You Deserve Better”, how ingenious and crafty, it will not only make your intentions clear, it will also get you the status of a Martyr. You want whats best for her, you are willing to get your own heart broken to pieces but still want her to be happy. Ahhhhhhh, you are a gentleman.

And when the waterworks start and tears start coming out, “Burre Tum Nahi, Burra Main Hoon”, yes its true but say it like you are taking the blame for getting your own heart ripped out of your chest. Release her from any blame, if this doesn’t get you the martyred status, then she is selfish and self-centered to the core.

“Mayray Gharwalay Nahi Maan Rahay”, if she is as stubborn and thick headed as a mule and doesn’t show any signs of getting the hint and leaving you alone then use this Time Honored One Liner. Put the blame on the dreaded in-laws, yes she will have someone to blame and hate, it will relieve the pain and anger and you would still manage to come out as a poor, wronged, heart broken eastern “Obedient Son” , who gave preference to his parents wishes over his own.

“Ho Sakay To Mughay Maaf Kardayna, Aur mughay Bhool Kar Khush Raihna” what appears as the most selfless, heart felt and sincere last advice of a heart broken lover are in fact the future plans of a man whose soul has just tasted the sweet taste of freedom. Now that who have got the desired results, its time to do the damage control, for that bring atleast a box of tissues so that when she is done calling you every name in the book and has cried her eyes out, you can still be the gentleman that you assume you are and help her clean up her over flowing maskara.

Congratulations, mission successful, you are now free to move on with your other pending relationships and break-ups.

The Americans Cast In Real Life

This article will give you every detail you need to know about the favorite star members of The Americans cast in real life.

The Americans Cast In Real Life

The plot of the series revolve around who two Russian spies, who are married to each other and have children together,  pose as Americans while living in Washington DC during the cold war situation. The couple of spies shown in this series are communist and they are faced with those two issues that stand in opposition to collectivism as a world view: individuality (Philip meets this through EST and Elisabeth meets this through art) – and religion (their relationship to their daughter and her pastor). Also, the eternal political conflict between integrity, humanity, and moderation on the one side and self-sacrifice, brutality, and duty on the other is explored to its core. Finally, the acting is overwhelmingly heartfelt and on the highest level: Characters like Stan, Philip, Elizabeth, Paige, Martha, Oleg, Nina, and Grannie seem as real as “real” people. This series won the Golden Globes this year for Best Drama TV Series and the leads (Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys) each won.

The Actor-in-Law Team Talks About The Film

0

In the event of the trailer launch of Actor in Law, there was a question and answer session in which Fahad Mustafa, Nabeel Qureshi, Fizza Ali Meerza and Mehwish Hayat talked about the film.

There is a scene in the trailer where Fahad Mustafa’s character says something like, ‘‘Quaid-e-Azam bhi actor banna chahte thay.” The journalists present at the event found this to be a bit offensive. Fahad Mustafa responded by saying that it’s a film, and the line was part of its content. He said in films such things came up and he would like all to see it first. He assured the media that there’s nothing offensive about the film, so people should watch the film and support Pakistani cinema.

IMG_20160629_225351

Nabeel Qureshi explained that the media had seen the trailer in a ‘scattered’ way so they didn’t know of its [line’s] background. He said he hadn’t included the line out of nowhere. He said it was based on facts and actually the idea for the film generated from it. He reiterated that the Quaid-i-Azam wanted to be an actor because when he went to London to study law, he had tried to do Shakespeare. He said the Quaid wrote this to his father in a letter, to which his father said he couldn’t betray his family. He said that made the Quaid into a great lawyer and he helped us gain independence.

Fahad Mustafa emphasized that this [project] was all entertainment.

FB_IMG_1467210770894

Fizza Ali Meerza said that the film is a product of a lot of hard work and is made with the ‘right intention’. She said they had tried to entertain the audiences, adding that only after watching the film (which is set to be released on Eidul Azha) one could tell how successful the team was in entertaining cine-goers.

Nabeel Qureshi said earlier in the day when he logged onto his Facebook page he realised that it was on June 27, 2014 that the trailer of Namaloom Afraad was launched. He called it nostalgic. He said the last time he was very ‘confident’ but this time round he was ‘conscious’, because previously no one knew him.

FB_IMG_1467210774027

Actress Mehwish Hayat, who plays the female lead in the story, said her experience of working in Actor-in-Law was very good. She said it was a privilege for her to be a part of the venture. She said hers was a challenging character for which she had to rehearse many times. She said her role had quite a few ‘shades’ and the movie was a ‘social comedy’.

Fahad Mustafa  termed the film a ‘brave attempt’ saying that it wasn’t the conventional comedy. He said it touched upon social issues that we all wanted to speak about but couldn’t. He said the characterisation was good and probably the audience would leave the theatre after watching the story with a message.

So, when movies are made on political figures, they sure get a lot of thumbs ups and thumbs downs. The “Sapnon Ki Rani” Spree!

Mere sapnon ki rani kab ayegi tu!

The rant of every hero nowadays. Life is so mean to them na!  First they find their girl after so many coincidences and then she is snatched away from them! haww!!

The golden tips (note sarcasm) for finding soul mates are:

1.  She’s probably the daughter of your khaala or phuppo.Better pray your cousins are beautiful like Khirad and others.

2.  If you are zabardasti-ly getting married to someone, better not protest. That’s how you’ll find your soul mate.

3. Have your eyes on your cousin? Tell you grandmother or mother or dad to become ill and then call a family meeting in which she will set the wedding date for you two or threaten to die.

blah

4. If not that, then at least ask her to TALK to your love interest. But NOT in a less dramatic way.

5. Avoid telling your cousin about him/her. Hide it from your best friend as well. They’ll turn into your worst enemies once they hear about the special one.

The “Heroines” finally getting recognition!

Pakistan women’s cricket team is in the game for past two decades. They have worked hard throughout and finally got recognized when the team got themselves a place under PCB in 2005. But it was not until 2009 they started getting their due share when they won gold in Asian games in 2009.

The "Heroines" finally getting recognition!

The team won the gold again in 2014. In one of the winning moments it can be seen that the captain’s jersey had a tape due to lack of sponsors.

The "Heroines" finally getting recognition!

But the struggle of the team is finally bearing fruit as the team just got an official sponsor for their kits and its Bonanza Satrangi. Pakistan Women’s Team Sponsorship and ICC World Cup 2017 Kit unveiling took place at National Cricket Academy Lahore and was attended by ODI Captain Sana Mir and T20 Captain Bismah Maroof among others.

Bismah said: “There are many parents now who encourage their daughters to play cricket. This is an achievement.”

Sana Mir also expressed her delight on the occasion. She said: “Finally getting an official kit sponsor for women cricket team is an indication that the hard work this team has put in since 2005 has finally started to bear fruit.”

The "Heroines" finally getting recognition!

Mr. Hanif Bilwani, Chairman Bonanza said, “It’s an honor for Bonanza Satrangi to be associated with Pakistan cricket as an official team sponsor for women’s cricket team. We believe that sport is particularly powerful in reaching out to the young, who represent the future of our country.”

We wish Pakistan Women’s Team best of luck for their future games! The "Heroines" finally getting recognition!

The ‘Other’ Side Of Our TV Industry

0

Commercialism attracts everyone. Glittery dresses, popular actors, romantic stories with a ‘twist’, couples separating and re-uniting, sisters rivalry, dukhyari khwateen, revenge drams.. These are the stories that we often see on our tv screens mostly and are loved by all.

But there is another section of audience who prefer something different. Just like Bollywood industry is divided into sections like art and commercial cinema, similarly we have also had some ‘arty’ serials that do not get their due recognition in terms of ratings. But kudos to those writers for still trying and not falling prey of commercialism.

Here are some of the ‘hatke’ serials that have hit our screen in recent past.

Talkhiyan:

Starring Sanam Saeed, Hina Bayat Khan, Hassan Niazi, Shamim Hilali, Mehak Khan and others. It is inspired by Indian author Arundhati Roy’s 1997 novel The God of Small Things, which is a story of fraternal twins whose childhood experiences have defined how they should love others. Written by Bee Gul and directed by Khalid Ahmad. The story, the characterization and the direction is very different from what we see on our TV screens regularly. The drama is presented by Zoya (Mehak), who narrates the tale of her mother Bibi (played by Sanam), who has suffered and been abused. In a role different from her usually characters, Hina Bayat plays Appu, Zoya’s angry aunt. All the actors perform to the best of their ability.

talkhiyan

Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi:

This one has a stellar cast which includes Saba Qamar, Noman Ejaz, Irsa Ghazal, Noman Masood, Yumna Zaidi and Soahil Ahmad. Written by Amna Mufti and directed by Kashif Nisar. It is based on the novel of same name written by same writer. With such a talented cast you expected nothing but a masterpiece and it does not disappoint the viewers. Set in a village, the story revolves around the families of two landowning brothers, Mian Yacoob (older) and Mianji (younger), who are estranged. Their children are married as Vatta Satta (exchange marriage).

ubfn

Pehchan:

Another masterpiece by the team of talkhiyan. This one had Iffet Umer, Alishba Yousuf, Sohail Sameer, Anita camphore and others. The story is about individuals finding their ‘pehchan’ (identity). It is the journey of Laila (Alishba Yousuf) who comes face to face to bitter reality of life after marriage & Kukoo (Iffet Umer) who needs to find her real identity and what she wants from life. The serial is directed brilliantly and all the actors did a fab job. The serial was shot in outskirts of Islamabad and the scenic beauty was captured brilliantly plus the background music was melodious.

Untitled

Mohabbat Jaye Bhar Mein:

Okay, this drama does not exactly fall in ‘arty’ category but it had a different story. The only problem I had with this one was that it was too bold for family audience. The cast included Resham, Hina Dilpazir, Adnan Siddique, Sajjal Ali, Minaal Khan, Imran Aslam and others. The story was about different people, belonging to lower middle class, living in a chawl in Karachi. Adnan Siddique and Hina Dilpazir efforlessly played the role of parents to 7 childer (including Sajjal and Minaal) and 8th one on the way ;). Resham plays Shagufta who lives with her mother and brother (both not normal). The serial depicts bitter realities of life of people living in such areas. There is plenty of humor in this serial hence it does not get boring to watch. Sajjal Ali, Minaal Khan, Imran Aslam and Resham perfectly fits into their character and perform will full conviction. The OST by Shibani Kashyap, is very much apt for the serial.

mjbm

Laa:

Written by playwright and poet Sarmad Sehbai, and directed by Farooq Rind and produced by Momina Duraid. It stars Meekal Zulfiqar, Sadia Khan and Sabreen Hisbani in lead roles. Story revolves around Danyal Malik (Meekal Zulfiqar), a rich and humble person who has bet with his friends that he would make Naina syed (sadia khan) fall in love with him, while her stay at Daniyal’s house with her family. The story then takes a turns when Daniyal’s came to know about his past and the two part ways to find eternal peace. It was a 13 episode serial. Certain audience had mixed feeling about the ending episodes since they thought it wasn’t tackled properly.

Untitled

This is it from my side, you all can add more serials which do not fall in ‘commercial’ category. Some of the content has been taken from Wikipedia.

P.S This is my first article on this website. Comments (postive or negative) are whole heartedly welcome.:)

The ‘Kabab Mein Haddis’ In Pakistani Dramas

0

The phrase kabab mein haddi is commonly used by people who speak Urdu. It won’t be wrong to say that it is the most ‘popular’ Urdu phrases. It essentially means that when someone is not wanted yet they insist on being around. It could also refer to someone who does not allow two people who are romantically involved to have quality time together. It is used for fun and also out of frustration! Some people become kabab mei haddi unknowingly and others make a special effort to make sure that they serve this purpose! In Pakistani dramas, these kabab mei haddis are usually the ones who play a key role in ensuring that two people who are in love don’t get their happy ending easily. It is safe to say that most of the Pakistani dramas are incomplete without these characters.

When you are eating a delicious and soft kabab and all of a sudden a haddi (bone) interrupts your enjoyment, what do you do? You throw it out! It definitely ruins the kabab eating experience and there is a fear at the back of your mind that there might be another haddi which would make your kabab eating experience rather annoying! Well therefore a kabab mei haddi in a non-literal sense is always annoying. It is even more so in our dramas because Pakistani dramas sometimes take the haddis more seriously than the kababs! Think of these writers as those cooks who want to consciously feed these haddis to their viewers while they eat the kababs! I am sure you get my message.

There are so many times when you want this haddi to have a downfall or to just disappear so that our beautiful kababs (hero and heroines) can get more happy time together. Unfortunately, in Pakistani dramas that is most often not the case since these haddis are quite hard and not easy to digest for the viewers.

Here are the most annoying kabab mei haddis which we absolutely hate and they have successfully ruined the kabab eating experience for the viewers more than once!

Shanzay (Pyar Ke Sadqay)

Shanzay is the most annoying example of kabab mein haddi who ruined a perfectly workable relationship between two people who loved each other so much. Had she not been in the picture, Abdullah and Mahjabeen could have had a great life together. After her own marriage did not work out, Shanzay decided it would be perfectly fine for her to work her way into Abdullah’s life again. Like many other kabab mein haddis in this list, she also used extreme measures to ensure that Abdullah is convinced. If it wasn’t for her suicide attempt, the viewers could have enjoyed watching Abdullah and Mahjabeen’s relationship grow stronger on screen.

The 'Kabab Mein Haddis' In Pakistani Dramas

Sarwar (Pyar Ke Sadqay)

Sarwar has to be one of the most evil names in this list. Although all these individuals who play the role of kabab mein haddis are negative, Sarwar takes this negativity to a whole new level! He is the prime reason why Abdullah and Mahjabeen split up. There are so many viewers out there who just don’t like watching his scene and wish he was not in the picture.

The 'Kabab Mein Haddis' In Pakistani Dramas

Zoya (Kashf)

Zoya is another kabab mein haddi who takes her role really seriously. She is extremely clever and uses all of this chalaki to monitor Wajdan and Kashf who are in love. Zoya has more than once been the reason for creating a rift between the families because she wants to get married to Wajdan. It won’t be wrong to say that as far as kabab mein haddis go, Zoya is the most dheet and shameless of them all!

The 'Kabab Mein Haddis' In Pakistani Dramas

Sara (Tera Ghum Aur Hum)

Sara’s role as kabab mein haddi has became even more obvious than ever when Mahi insisted that she should go with her and Ali when they were going out on a dinner date. She was left alone on the table when Ali who is the more sensible man in this list decided Sara was indeed a kabab mein haddi! Sara’s ‘supposed’ that Ali loved her and when he declared his love for Mahi, she was not able to get over the shock. Just like all the other kabab mein haddis in this list, Sara’s sole purpose in life now is to destroy Ali and Mahi’s marriage.

The 'Kabab Mein Haddis' In Pakistani Dramas

Miraal (Sabaat)

Miraal has too many control issues, she could be running a business, enjoying holidays, partying with friends but she has decided to take up the role of kabab mein haddi and break off her brother’s Hassan’s marriage with the love of his life Anaya. Anaya and Hassan make a sweet couple, viewers want to see more of them and they want to see them happy but Miraal so far has been doing whatever it takes to ensure that doesn’t happen. The fact that she set Hassan’s room on fire goes to show she is the most dangerous one on the list! Unlike the other haddis in the list, Miraal has no love interest involves only severe control issues!

The 'Kabab Mein Haddis' In Pakistani Dramas

Shafaq (Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida)

Out of all the annoying haddis in the list, Shafaq has to be the most sophisticated one! So far it is difficult to understand why a seemingly decent and well-balanced intelligent single woman like her would want to ruin someone’s marriage. She has fallen for Shahaan for some odd reason and now she will buy Ulfat’s husband in the upcoming episodes! Of all the haddis in this list, Shafaq has to be the one who is most difficult to understand.

The 'Kabab Mein Haddis' In Pakistani Dramas

Natasha (Dil Ruba)

Natasha has the perfect haddi look and she is just as annoying as all the others. The big difference here is that she has actually succeeded in being the ‘legal’ haddi by entering into a nikkah with Sanam’s husband. Khurram and Natasha were always in a relationship but ever since he got married, she has tried harder to pull her away from Sanam. Although Sanam was never in love with Khurram, she did try to make the relationship work. Had it not been for the haddi Natasha, this relationship might have worked out.

The 'Kabab Mein Haddis' In Pakistani Dramas

Did you notice something? Most of these kabab mein haddis are way more clever and westernized when compared to the ‘kababs’ ;)

The ‘Bay’ Syndrome!

The ‘Bay’ Syndrome; a syndrome which compels its victims to imagine & pen down such characters that embody all the characteristics that begin with ‘bay’, examples include ‘bay’ghairat, ‘bay’sharam, ‘bay’shaoor, ‘bay’haya, ‘bay’tukkay, ‘bay’charay so on & so forth.

Surprise surprise, I am writing about the latest trends that our writers have started & the bandwagon of writing the ‘bay’ghairati filled dramas that our writers have hopped on & for that reason, I most certainly believe that most of our writers are down with ‘the ‘bay’ syndrome’ because other than that, there’s no justification to the idiocy that our writers are churning out, one after another. Gone are the days when our writers used to feel the pressure & found it as their moral & ethical duty to pen down such scripts that had some purpose. Gone are the days when our writers used to write such stories that actually contained a message that they felt that needed to be conveyed. Gone are the days when the writers took their job seriously & actually considered what the viewers would want to see & gone are the days when the definition of entertainment was entirely different & definitely better!

These days, it seems like our writers have gotten a wrong idea of what qualifies as an entertainment. Ages ago our writers stopped experimenting with different genres & shoved saas bahu sagas down our throats time & again. It was so obvious that our writers clearly ran out of ideas so they gave a different spin to the stories of domestic issues which were more or less the same. The masses still showed acceptance towards such dramas because they had no other option than to tune to what was being shown but seems like the writers stopped taking their work seriously & came up with a hideous idea of twisting the logic & concepts of Divorce & when they felt that this idea was getting old & rusty, they took their fixation a step further & started exploring (read exploiting) the concept of Halala too!

A few years ago, channels like HUM TV & ARY Digital actually brought back people to Pakistani dramas & made them forget the never-ending hideous dramas of Star Plus which had everything except good stories. We Pakistanis, used to take pride in our Pakistani dramas because we knew that our dramas were completely different & had a meaning but sadly, that is not the case anymore. From the last 3 – 4 years, the quality of our dramas has only deteriorated because it is so obvious that all the toms, dicks & harry’s think they can become a writer & they end up writing down the most idiotic scripts that leave the viewers baffled & furious at their audacity for coming up with such level of ‘bay’ghairti.

FotorCreated

There was a time when all our writers were fixated with the sister rivalry & we got so many photocopies of same idea as the writers thought that this is what was going to sell their scripts. After that came a trend in our dramas where everyone got married to the one they were not in love with & planned on eloping with their beloved from the past. Then came a trend of such dramas where each & every female lead was being accused of infidelity. Then came the most amazing trend of ‘dusri biwi’ which some writers once again took a notch higher & threw in 3 – 4 biwis too. I am talking about these trends because they show the lack of creativity that our writers suffer from, where they take it as their duty to follow the lead of those dramas that might do a good job rating wise & this is the reason why we see so many copies of one idea for a certain amount of time.

I am sure by now you guys must’ve understood where I am going with this. Yes, I am talking about the trend that has compelled the writers to play with the concepts of Divorces & Halalas because of which we are seeing so many photocopies of this sickening idea & honestly speaking, I am actually unable to figure out what makes these so-called writers think they can write such pathetic scripts & get away with it? Are they so rating-hungry that they find it totally cool to play with such concepts so brutally? Since our writers have even taught the kids about what divorce is, I am sure when asked, the kids will also say that a divorce means no turning back but here we are, getting to see such dramas where divorce is treated as a cancelled meeting where the involved party tries to arrange a meeting again while completely forgetting about what had transpired between them already. These days in our dramas written by the writers that are down with the ‘bay’ syndrome, we are shown that after getting divorced, the wife tries to go back to her husband citing kids as an excuse conveniently. If the ‘bay’ syndrome writers actually think that their miserable couple can still do well together then why do they shove in the phase of divorce? Only because that’s the easiest way to earn ratings? In stead of exploring the opportunities of how they can show divorce & reconciliation in different lights, why don’t these bay syndrome victims try to explore their heads & see if they have a thing called ‘brain’ inside it or not & if by chance or by luck, they do spot a thing called ‘brain’ then how about putting it to good use because everything is there for a reason so why not use it & see how they go? There was a time when our writers used divorce as a last stage & also as a sign of freedom which put the kibosh on the misery of the couple involved but these days, seems like even divorce doesn’t put an end to the misery & the ex husband & wife still find it in their hearts to get back together, thinking everything will be alright while completely forgetting about the fact that they are divorced!?!?!?!

Coll 2

Mann Mayal; as declared by its creative team, #lovestoryof2016, #bestdramaever – also showed that ‘bay’shaoor & ‘bay’chari Mannu, even after getting divorced was ready to go back to ‘bay’ghairat Mikaeel & even he was thinking of taking her back saying everything will be alright & their cupid Mr. Sallahuddin told his mother that this is a ‘new zamana’ & things like these happen or rather, casual & temporary divorces like these happen so she should just chillax & that is why in the latest episode he was wondering if he could settle a divorced couple abroad for the sake of their kids? How amusing, right!

Even though I haven’t watched Pakeeza but a commenter told me that even after getting divorced, ‘bay’sharam Pakeeza lives with her ex-husband only for the sake of her daughter. I didn’t watch this drama but I did see the promos when it was about to go on-air, where the writer; Bushra Ansari requested people to feel Pakeeza’s journey & relate to it, well sorry writer sahiba, I can not relate to such a story which makes no sense to begin with? Things like these can be expected from Samira Fazal as #naamhikaafihai but I actually believed that Bushra Ansari; being such a seasoned actor with so much of experience knew better & could definitely do better, but sigh!!!

Then we have the most unique writer of recent times; Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, who actually twisted the concept of Halala so badly that my head hurts the moment I think about it. This drama showed that a ‘bay’ghairat girl got divorced because she was in a mood for a new adventure & when she got bored of it, she wanted to get back to her ex-husband so bad that these days she’s on a hunt for some ‘bay’ghairat who’ll become her temporary husband. Can someone please tell Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, that a marriage done with the intention of getting divorced is not valid in the first place, so why did he put so much of pressure on his ‘brain’ & come up with this script & not only that, wasn’t there even a single person in the entire creative unit who could’ve told him ke Uncle jee appse blunder ho gaya hai & this story can not be dramatized as it doesn’t make sense & doesn’t do justice to the concept of Halala actually?

Our writers need to understand that they have a responsibility & they have a duty towards those who tune to their dramas, that is why they just can not show something that happens to be their fantasy as it affects the mentality of others & reaches out to so many people out there. In the recent times, every time I have watched these dramas, I have felt that these writers need to enroll in the schools again & they need to pay attention to their Islamiyat classes because these are the concepts that are taught at a school level but seems like these writers were the famous bunkers of their times & they bunked most of their Islamiyat classes because if they had attended at least 2 – 3 of those lectures, they would’ve known better & they would’ve understood that they are psychotically twisting such basic concepts which serves no purpose at all.

The way these ‘bay’ syndrome victims are twisting the basic & straight forward concepts of divorce & halala is quite alarming. I actually feel infuriated to see that how easily these unqualified individuals believe themselves to be the writers & not only that, they take pride & joy in their writings which actually look like papers that were puked upon & deserved getting dumped into the dustbin but made it to the hands of the producers & they decided to produce it because of being money & rating mongers.

Coll 3

Being a fan & an avid viewer of Pakistani Dramas, I still have hope because in such dark times we still are getting dramas like Diyar-e-Dil, Besharam, Dil Lagi & Udaari, which have nothing to do with divorces still they keep the interest of the viewers alive & are being spoken about for all the right reasons. I hope that these ‘bay’ syndrome victims take inspiration from these drama-writers & come up with something better that has nothing to do with divorces & halalas. Also, I wish the producers curb their hunger for ratings & money & expand their vision to be able to see that those dramas who had nothing to do with divorces & halalas did good in terms of ratings too. I wish to see a better quality dramas with amazing scripts & an actual quotient of entertainment because what we see these days in the name of entertainment is everything but that. It is actually quite sad to see that the channel heads have become so commercialized that for the sake of their commercialism, they are taking such scripts that actually have quite a questionable content that doesn’t really sync with our religious & cultural values. Please share your thoughts about the writers that are suffering from the ‘bay’ syndrome & do let us know if you wish to see these victims getting treated professionally.

Zahra Mirza.

Thays Episode 3 And 4 Review-Hard-Headedness!

The people of this family are not very rational. They are more in touch with their extreme side of emotions. Zahra’s life story came into focus and now it is hard to feel for her. She is not just overly possessive and controlling, she does not trust anyone either. The whole scene where she accuses her husband of infidelity showed how she reacts to everything around her. She is doing the same thing with her daughter now. She didn’t even try to rationalize in the whole situation and went after her daughter like she went after her husband years ago.

Rubab’s father has the same reflexive issues may be. Yes, they are lesser than Zahra’s but he has them. With everything that happened and the love he has for Zahra, he should have at least tried to clarify the situation. But he left the country, married the same woman his wife doubted him about and did not care about his first wife and daughter. His character till now seems a lot calmer than Zahra’s which makes such rash decisions by him look a bit unrelatable.

Thays Episode 3 And 4 Review-Hard-Headedness!

Since this family has a habit of being sentimental, Asher couldn’t save himself. Like his phupo he started doubting Zoya just upon seeing her with her cousin. He knows Zoya is liberal and her behaviour with her cousin should not be a shock to him. She was just being friendly with him. But he went on to driving like a bull-head because that somehow solves all issues. Yes, Zoya is not yet fully interested in him. So, he should stop behaving like her husband and may think about the whole situation again. But he is too under pressure to escape phupi ki beti se shaadi to rationally think about what he wants in his potential life partner.

Rubab’s behaviour with her father is also uncalled for. She is shown as a student but she doesn’t look too young to not understand or question the whole situation between her parents. She is a very gharelu and masoom larki so she better cut her father some slack and gets things straight.

P.S: Teddy bears are cute but as presents for such grown-up children? Ajeeb!

Thays Episode 1 And 2 Review-A Steady Start!

Writer: Imran Nazeer

Director: Kashif Saleem

Cast: Junaid Khan, Hira Mani, Farah Shah and Nazish Jahangir

As the promos were showing and these two episodes have established, it is going to be a love triangle. But what made it enjoyable is that it is not just a love triangle, the sub-plots look interesting as well as enjoyable. Just talking about these two episodes since one never knows what might come ahead, the direction is phenomenal. In an effortless manner, the director has introduced all the characters and now we know where the story stands and what is the nature of lead characters. This particular point if executed correctly always helps the audience to connect easily with the drama.

We have Ashar(Junaid Khan) and Rubab(Hira Mani) in the lead roles who are cousins and live in the same house. Rubab is smitten by Asher who does not give her any time of his day. Asher wants to marry Zoya(Nazish Jahangir) and he is not interested in his cousin. But like every Pakistani family, Asher’s family also does not care about his choice and are emotionally blackmailing him to marry Rubab.

Thays Episode 1 And 2 Review-A Steady Start!

Rubab’s character is not very likeable to me but it is relatable. Only children can either be very aggressive or they can be Rubab, so yeah Rubab is Rubab! She is a smitten teenager trapped in a grown woman’s body. She actually has a fork wrapped in ribbons because Asher used it to eat his food. Also, the whole Mama aap sulayein na was very annoying. Yes, they have shown her mother babies her but still, it is too much to digest. I hope she gets better as the drama furthers.

The star of this show is hands down Farah Shah. Her character Zehra has so many dimensions that I have not yet figured out whether she is good or evil. There is some backstory going on which is not revealed yet. She is a strong woman who is facing many challenges and has raised a daughter alone. Her whole demeanour on the issue when she was uncomfortable around her co-worker was flawlessly acted out. She is super controlling and cannot get past things or people she hates. She cannot tolerate her nephew because he looks like her husband. We do not know yet whether she was wrong or she was wronged but it is easy to say that Farah will be keeping the audience hooked to Thays.

Thays is off to a good start overall. Let’s see how the story progresses in the coming weeks!

P.S: I have special sympathy for this man.👇 Yes, I was also shocked to my core on finding out that she was Hira’s mother!

There is something very wrong with the perception of the people around regarding the looks of our celebrities who always look so prim and proper on the screen that their fans start fanaticizing the real-world as a glamor industry itself. Yes, a bit of self-care and hygiene is a significant part of a healthy life but it is practically impossible to stay at home while putting on all the beautiful makeup and couture dresses.
