Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 11 – Interesting Developments

The treatment given to this amazing script by the director Shahid Shafat has made this drama one-of-a-kind. It isn’t very often that we get to see dramas on our channels which are shot and written in such a unique manner. TDKKH has an artistic feel to it; it is slow-paced yet appealing. Watching this drama is like reading a novel, the slow pace of the drama and the manner in which it has been directed allows you to savor all the wonderful moments. I can’t praise Shahid Shafat enough for doing complete justice to the script because had he not done so it could have been a complete disaster! Mansha Pasha and Sami Khan stole the show yet again! Dariya and Faris are two beautifully etched-out characters which you can easily fall in love with really quickly. Their interactions are a treat to watch and are always the highlight of every single episode. Dariya and Faris have their own weaknesses which make their characters even more appealing and easy to connect to. Their honesty as well as their confusions add more layers to their characters.

Dariya’s character in particular is like a breath of fresh air. We are watching a female character like hers for the first time on screen. She is confident but she is not batameez – in our drama most often confident also means the girl goes around telling everyone off! She loves someone who has friend zoned her but she never once has been shown feeling sorry for herself. Also, she has made it clear multiple times that she will never beg Faris for his love. I absolutely loved the dialogue about internship, this is the kind of confidence which makes Dariya’s character one of the best female characters we have seen in Pakistani dramas. She is modern, confident, kind, loving, straightforward, practical, well-educated and extremely likeable. Siraj Uncle and Dariya’s scenes are always directed and acted out so well too. It is great watching Rehan Sheikh excelling in another wonderful role.

Maya finally decided to call her mother and apparently the divorce is not final yet so she still has the option of going back to Faris. Although Faris said that he hated Maya now but that just sounded like something he did not really mean. Maya has been shown as an egoistic girl who would much rather break than bend therefore I am waiting to find out what her next move will be since she will probably not go back to Faris either unless he asks her to come back to him. Ayeza Khan in particular gave a brilliant performance tonight. Her expressions were beyond impressive in all the scenes.

Faris and Zoya’s relationship is equally interesting and also one which keeps you guessing. Is Maya the reason why they are so close to each other or is there some underlying attraction between these two? The way Zoya hung up when Faris told her how he carried her to the hospital suggested something like that and Faris also proposed to Zoya once. Even though he did so because at that time he was desperately trying to get a closure but the preview of the next episode also suggested that he will say something to that effect again to her.

Thankfully, Saif is not being given a lot of screen time lately! His track is more appealing if it does not get a lot of screen time otherwise Zahid Ahmed’s acting tends to disappoint. Overall, tonight’s episode was yet another brilliant episode of a drama which is proving to be unique and entertaining.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 10 Review – A Change Of Heart

I am terribly disappointed with HUM, moving a drama like TDKKH to 9pm slot and replacing it with a cliché-ridden play like Tumhari Marium was a terribly unfair decision. While I understand that a drama like TDKKH cannot possibly be a commercial hit but while allotting or moving these slots the channel should also keep into consideration the quality of a drama and the amount of effort which the entire team has put into it. TDKKH is unusual but definitely worthy of a good slot! I am certain, I am not the only one who feels this way since there are many other viewers who can clearly see that TDKKH has some major strengths.

These 10 episodes of TDKKH have been beyond amazing. Every single conversation and the entire feel of the play is brand new. This has to be one of the most beautifully written plays which is filled with deep and meaningful dialogues. The director and the actors have translated all the scenarios on screen impeccably. Just like every other episode of TDKKH, this one too had a special surprise in store. The previous episode already suggested that Maya was regretting her decision of leaving someone like Faris who loved and respected her for a crook like Saif. This episode ended with Maya admitting that she had made the biggest mistake of her life and she loved Faris more today than she ever did. I had absolutely no trouble connecting to everything Maya was going through since this change of heart did not occur overnight. It took a man like Saif to make her realize what a gem Faris was. I absolutely love the way the tables have been turned. Not very long ago Faris was the one who was desperate to have Maya back and now Maya wants to go back to him. Different scenes in this episode suggested that Faris was getting closer to Dariya; it seemed like he was more emotionally dependent on her now than ever and he needs her in his life although he does not want to get married to her just yet. Like Uncle Siraj said, in the end the person who cheats pays the price for it and not the person who has been wronged.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 10 Review - A Change Of Heart

Although almost all the characters in this drama are appealing in their own way but Faris and Dariya’s characters as well as the relationship between these two has to be the highlight of every episode. Sami Khan and Mansha Pasha’s on screen chemistry coupled with their brilliant performances make their scenes a treat to watch. Both these characters have so many different shades to their personalities and all of them are equally appealing. Also, the fact that even with all their niceness, they are still really strong people makes them even more likeable. Maya’s character has been etched-out brilliantly too and Ayeza Khan has breathed life into this character in such a way that even with all her flaws you can’t help but feel for Maya. She comes across as someone who is naive and gullible as opposed to negative or wicked.

My favorite parts of this episode were Faris’ conversation with Zoya and everything Baila said to Maya after which she admitted that she wanted to go back to Faris. The conversations Lubna, Baila and Maya had and the kind of relationship these women share was also truly refreshing. For a change it is good to see women being there for one another although their circumstances don’t make it easy for them to support each other. Baila has always been the voice of reason; she is wise, practical and outspoken – we don’t get to see women like her in our dramas very often. Lubna too has also been quite honest about her feelings for Saif and also about her views regarding Maya’s situation. It is great to see these women being honest with one another.

Like every other episode of TDKKH, this one too had some impressive dialogues to its credit. My favorite one however was, “Mard ki jaib agr khali bhi ho na tu biwi ki wafadari apni jaib mei daal kr kehta hei k I am the richest man.”

The preview of the next episode was very enticing! Does Faris really hate Maya? Do Dariya and Faris have a future together? I am looking forward to finding out!

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 1 Review – Complicated Situations!

Writer: Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar
Director: Shahid Shafat
Producers: Momina Duraid, Tariq Shah, Sana Shahnawaz & Samina Humayun
Schedule: Every Sunday at 8pm on HUM

The first episode of Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua was a lot like the first episode of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai since it started with highlighting a major issue between the leading characters instead of introducing them in a normal setting. While starting the drama in such a way can pique the curiosity of the viewers because even after watching the first episode you don’t really find out much about the characters, but at the same time such a beginning makes things complicated right from the start. Even after watching this entire episode the viewers do not really know the background of any of the characters even vaguely and we also don’t know how some of these characters are interrelated. While I am all for keeping the viewers at the edge of their seats but not introducing the characters properly in the first episode does not really serve the said purpose. Yes, I am curious to find out a lot about all these characters but I also feel that there is no need to keep the viewers guessing in this particular way! How is Faris (Sami Khan) related to Siraj Uncle (Rehan Sheikh)? Where are his parents? How are Seemi Pasha and Behroze Sabzwari’s character related to Faris? Basically, these are not the kind of questions that should be in the viewers minds after watching an introductory episode.

This episode opened with Faris (Sami Khan) complaining about the fact that his wife Maya (Ayeza Khan) left the house earlier than he had asked her to. Maya wants a divorce from her husband because she wants to go back to Saif (Zahid Ahmed), who is someone she had a relationship with before getting married but she married Faris because she had broken up with Saif. Uncle Siraj has taught Faris the art of losing well and therefore he is taking this recent development very differently from how any other husband would. He is heart broken and feels used but is pretending to be okay with everything. Maya could not care less about her marriage coming to an end and she is already looking forward to being with Saif. She thinks it is her right to be with the person she loves therefore she does not think she is doing something wrong. Saif came across as someone who won’t go the extra mile for someone. This episode did not reveal much about his character except that he is also romantically involved with Maya and isn’t stopping her from leaving her husband. Maya’s father Namdar Mirza (Usman Peerzada) is a lawyer who is naturally not too happy with his daughter’s decision and decides to talk her out of it but Maya has her mind all made up. Dania (Mansha Pasha) is related to Uncle Siraj and also likes Faris. Maya’s sister (Noor Khan) is very different from her but she knows that there is no point of arguing with Maya.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 1 Review - Complicated Situations!

This entire episode covered the divorce, which is yet to happen. It showed how different characters feel about it and that is how the viewers found out about the central characters in the story. The best thing about this episode was the way it was directed and there was a lot of focus on everyone’s looks. All the characters looked trim and proper, it was quite apparent that the director focused on making the whole experience more visually pleasing for the viewers. However because of the script, just like MTSNH, the scenarios and the characters appeared to be staged as opposed to living and breathing human beings who the viewers could easily relate to. Sami Khan looked good and acted well, Faris was the only character I warmed up to in this episode. Ayeza Khan is once again playing a role which isn’t likeable but this time around she is not all over the place. Maya’s character also appears to be slightly more well defined than Maheen’s. Zahid Ahmed has a definite screen presence but his body language was too calculated in this episode, since we don’t know much about his character therefore it is impossible to guess why he was acting like that.

The preview of the next episode suggested that the divorce will not take place in the upcoming episode and I have a feeling that this is going to be another slow-paced drama. I just hope that it has enough substance to keep the viewers coming back for more.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua – Last Episode Review

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua finally ended tonight and unfortunately this last episode wasn’t as powerful or gratifying as I was hoping it would be. All the mysteries were solved and just like every other ending written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar a death changed a great deal but there were certain changes in some of the characters which were sudden and some of the mysteries didn’t interest me one bit. This ending could have been way better if it focused on the main characters alone.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed watching and reviewing this play but after watching this last episode, I am convinced that this ending and the drama as a whole could have been much more powerful if there weren’t so many tracks and characters in it. Saif’s character had an important role to play in the story yet he did not get a lot of screen time and Zahid Ahmed’s performance left a lot to be desired. Another reason why this ending wasn’t really satisfying was that I never really warmed up to Zoya and Faris’ relationship with each other. Dariya and Faris on the other hand had made for each other written all over them. Dariya’s character and Mansha Pasha’s acting too was far more superior than that of Zoya and Noor Khan’s acting was the weakest link in a play which had some amazing performances overall.

The change in Maya’s personality was rather sudden therefore although it was good to see her doing something for someone else for a change but it wasn’t relatable. The dialogues were well written and Ayeza Khan’s performance just like every other episode was right on point but this entire development overall wasn’t convincing. Dariya’s phone call gave hope that she might come back but that didn’t happen and it was sad watching her end up alone. Although, she was always shown as a strong woman who didn’t need a man to save her but even then the fact that she never got married went to show that she loved Faris so much that she couldn’t settle down with any other man. Tipu and Dariya had the most unhappy endings and these two were the best characters in this play.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua - Last Episode Review

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua as a whole was brilliantly executed. The director Shahid Shafat deserves all the credit for making me tune into this drama every week. He made this drama a visual treat. Sami Khan, Mansha Pasha, Rehan Sheikh, Ayeza Khan and Imran Ashraf’s phenomenal performances were another reason why most of the episodes were brilliant even when the story got a little too complicated. This play also had tons of beautiful dialogues which explored the concept of love from a brand new perspective. The first 12 episodes or so had some of the most amazing conversations and kept me hooked. The background score throughout was remarkable and the overall feel of the play was quite unlike other Pakistani dramas yet quite appealing. The person incharge of the styling also deserves tons of appreciation for a job well done.

The channel did not do justice to this drama and it didn’t bag any awards either but for me Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua overall was a winner. Had it been slightly less complicated it would have been even better. This last episode however didn’t work for me overall.

A special thank you to all those wonderful people who read the reviews every week and shared their thoughts here. I really appreciate your feedback.

Tattoo on Hina Altaf’s Arm. Who Is That Someone Special?

Hina Altaf literally spoke her heart out when she sat down to talk to Samina Peerza on her show. She did not hold back which is why her interview got an amazing response from the audience. This year on Mother’s day when all the celebrities were paying tribute to their mothers, Hina Altaf got someone’s name tattooed on her arm and said that this was the man who stood by her in the darkest of hours. Hina Altaf also turned the comments off for this post because clearly she did not want to discuss who she was referring to and what this man meant to him. When this picture and Hina’s post was shared on other pages, most people starting speculating that Hina had found her soul mate. Hina did not start talking about him until recently. She talked about him when she was a guest at Sanam Baloch’s show and also when she shared everything about her life at Samina Peerzada’s show. 41991394_316659982430034_7186922609240440832_n 41889099_374527956420234_2480656037951045632_n Hina shared that this man was not her romantic interest or a soul mate but he was a doctor. Dr. Alam, is someone who helped Hina come out of a very dark phase of her life. While narrating how she met him and how he impacted her life, Hina said that her friend’s mother used to work for Dr. Alam, that is how she met him. In the beginning Hina was only in contact with him via emails but later on he asked to meet her and that is when Hina’s journey towards a better life started. Hina shared that she was 20 when she met this man and within a few years, he turned her life around. 41849008_1929472913776809_3060475549169221632_n Hina shared that sometimes all you need in your life is a mentor – someone who can guide you in the right direction and give you hope. Hina talked about how Dr. Alam helped her heal by helping her forgive everyone who had hurt her. She said that Dr. Alam had helped a lot of girls like her but he kept his work discreet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=695elLqBSh8&feature=youtu.be&t=1341

Tarang Housefull Telefilms – An Overview

0

I have always been a big fan of telefilms, if they are made well, they provide perfect entertainment. The fact that the Tarang housefull telefilms were inspired by some of the old classics made me look forward to them and I had very high expectations from almost all these telefilms. Also, all these telefilms had some very big names attached to them, so one couldn’t help but expect a masterpiece. I have to say though that the telefilms I had very high expectations from did not seem up to the mark and others which I thought may not deliver were so much better than my expectations. Here is an overview of all the telefilms, please feel free to share your opinion.

Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun:

Writer: Vasay Chaudhry
Director: Nadeem Baig
Cast: Meekal, Ayesha Khan, Atiqa Odhu, Bushra Ansari, Saba Hameed, Usman Peerzada and others.

Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun was very refreshing in every way. It was truly wonderful to see Meekaal do something completely different from what he does usually. Not only that he completely stole the show because of his remarkable acting. All the actors senior and junior shared amazing chemistry. Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hun is a romantic comedy with quite a few decent and very intelligent jokes to its credit. Vasay Chaudhry’s script is flawless, Nadeem Baig did a spectacular job with the direction and everyone is very well suited for their roles. The song Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun has been sung brilliantly and has been shot very well too. Aysha Khan looks great and the lead pair clicked with me instantly, unlike some of the other telefilms where I wasn’t too sure if the lead pair really had any real chemistry.

atmjh
The telefilm was not just funny but very engaging as well, it kept me glued right from the get go and gave me nothing to complaint about. It was refreshing to see Saba Hameed in a different role as well, Bushra Ansari was her brilliant self as usual and Atiqa Udho fit in perfectly in her character. It isn’t very easy for a relatively new artist to shine amongst such big stars but Meekaal managed to do that almost effortlessly.
If you want to watch something that will give you some good laughs then ATMJH is a must watch for you. It has all the right ingredients in the right proportions and gives you nothing to complaint about.

Anjuman:

Writer: Zanjabeel Shah
Director: Yasir Nawaz
Cast: Imran Abbass, Sara Loren, Ally Khan, Iffat Umar, Sohai Abro and others.

Anjuman was the second telefilm to go on air. I must confess that I wasn’t actually looking forward to watching it and there were no high expectations from the telefilm as well, mainly because of the way it was promoted. I wasn’t much interested in wathcing “the item number of the year” because a good telefilm really should have more to its credit. The only reason I ended up watching Anjuman was because I had nothing better to do. Once I started watching it, there was no forwarding or stopping in between. Anjuman was perfect acting wise; all the actors were simply brilliant. The story was nothing special but some of the dialogues were very touching and had the kind of depth which one can only wish for most of the times. All the characters were superbly etched out and the songs were beautifully sung. Sara Loren, Ally Khan, Iffat Rahim and Sohai Abro were the stars of the show and unfortunately Imran Abbas was the weakest link. The beauty of this film lies in its characterization, acting and definitely the direction. The director turned an ordinary (almost unbelievable) story into something that keeps you glued to your TV screens. Sunidhi Chauhan added a new life to the old songs “Aap Dil Ki Anjuman Mein” and “Dil Dhadkay”.

anjuman
If you missed Anjuman for some reason, I suggest that you give it a go. It will take you in a world of its own and you will love the ending. I also like and appreciate the message that was put forward through this movie. It is definitely a must-watch.

Dil Mera Dhadkhan Teri:

Writer: Mohammad Ahmed
Director: Mehreen Jabbar
Cast: Sarwat Gillani, Sanam Saeed, Ahsan Khan, Shamim Hilali and others.

Let me start by saying that I had enormous expectations from this telefilm in particular because I expected nothing short of a masterpiece from a talented writer like Muhammad Ahmed, a gifted director like Mehreen Jabbar and a stellar cast. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed after watching the telefilm because the story lacked depth and everything seemed rushed. Sarwat Gillani and Ahsan Khan lacked the on-screen chemistry needed to make me relate to their undying love. Sanam Saeed on the other hand made her presence felt and stood out more than anyone else in the telefilm. The song “Rakh Diya Qadmo Mie Dil Nazrana” had a lot of energy but It came and went and I failed to understand the context.

dmdt
The “twists and turns” in the telefilm weren’t exactly exciting, in fact I kept on waiting for the time when the telefilm will completely keep me hooked but it never came. The characters were not very well established at all; we know that Beenish is the villain and Saira is the victim but that is that. I did not fall in love with Saira’s character; yes she was very cute but that was it. I did not hate Beenish’s character maybe because Sanam Saeed was so well suited for the role or perhaps I just wasn’t given enough time to warm up to the characters or the story. In short DMDT did not work for me at all because I failed to connect to the characters.

Devar Bhabi:

Writer, Director and Producer: Syed Noor
Cast: Saima, Sami Khan, Sadia Khan, Saud and others.

I was expecting this telefilm to be very filmi because it has been written, directed and produced by Syed Noor. I have never watched a Pakistani commercial movie so I had no idea what kind of an actress Saima was but I assumed she would be great since she ruled over the industry for a very long time; surely one can’t do that without some good talent (so I thought)!! I wasn’t exactly blown away by Saima’s performance partially because her character had not been etched out properly. The bhabi should have come across as someone very graceful who commanded immediate respect from the audience but that did not happen. All the latkas and jhatkas, the body language and the dialogues as well were over the top and did not fit in at all. I can think of many television actresses who could have done justice to this role.

devar bhabi
Sami Khan’s performance was mediocre to say the least, even with all the emotional dialogues, the bhabi dewar jodi failed to move me. Until now, this had to be the telefilm with most number of songs but the songs had an old feel to them. They were very melodious no doubt but they didn’t seem like the 2013 version of a 1960s movie. I found it difficult to sit through most of them because they were too slow and the presentation wasn’t very modern too. Sadia Khan; the heroine, a new actress, didn’t have much of a role to play but whatever acting she didn’t wasn’t actually impressive. Saud and Saima jodi didn’t click with me at all as well.

Overall, this was yet another disappointing telefilm, I have definitely watched better telefilms on many other channels and some with much stronger messages, much more emotions and much better script too

Armaan:

Writer: Vasay Chaudhry
Director: Anjum Shehzad
Cast: Fawad Khan, Amina Sheikh, Vasay Chaudhry and others.

This was another one of those telefilms that I was anxiously looking forward to primarily because Fawad Khan was playing the lead. I had my serious apprehensions about Amina Sheikh playing the lead with Fawad Khan because I wondered if the two will look good on-screen together. Nonetheless, I was totally willing to be pleasantly surprised. Honestly speaking I felt like there was hardly any chemistry between Fawad Khan and Amina Sheikh. Both of them performed brilliantly, there is no denying that but the sizzling chemistry that makes you go awww was completely missing.

armaan
The story was very interesting and had a lot of potential but the direction wasn’t very impressive and the production values were low. Some of the locations were exactly the same as Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hum, which was rather disappointing considering that it would have been quite easy for the director and producer to use new locations. I like the comical element in Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hun much more than in Armaan; some of the jokes were not very clean! One can easily make people laugh without crossing the line of decency and it is always better that way. Armaan wasn’t exactly a masterpiece, in fact I couldn’t even watch it one sitting. Definitely not a must watch on my list but if you love Fawad Khan – go for it!

I haven’t watched Aaina yet, will definitely add what I think about it once I am done watching it…the promos looked very promising. Did you watch the Tarang Housefull telefilms? Please share your opinion about them.

Tapal’s Latest TVC

Tapal’s Latest tvc starring the very handsome Adeel Hussain and gorgeous Sanam Saeed is set to make waves. The new advertisement will make all of you fall in love with Adeel Hussain all over again! Tapal yet again breaks the stereotype of a wife always cooking for the husband, since in the ad, Adeel Hussain makes tea for his tired wife.

The tag line ‘Tum, mein aur aik cup chai’ encompasses the same concept of gender role-reversal; it tells men that doing things together will only bring you closer, so why not begin with making a cup of tea! Not only does this ad send out a positive message to society but has a visual appeal too. Adeel Hussain and Sanam Saeed look adorable in the tvc.

Tapal’s another tvc starring Saba Qamar released earlier today and is intense with a pinch of boldness. Saba Qamar’s beauty can never be neglected as she looks extremely beautiful in the tvc. It’s all about #mereMannKiDhunn.

Tanzeela Mazhar resigns following PTV harassment case

0

Tanzeela Mazhar, anchor at Pakistan Television (PTV) has resigned from her job and post after authorities showed lack of interest in responding to her harrassment complaint.

Mazhar mentioned in her resignation which she also tweeted, said:

“Things were made very difficult for me and I was facing huge psychological torture every day. PTV is being hijacked by perverts. I did my bit to improve things but moral corruption won over morals.”

In January, she had filed a complaint regarding harassment that she was being harassed by Agha Masood Shorish, PTV Current Affairs Director.

She had also recently tweeted about how it is useless to pursue a lost cause considering the society we live in and the only option on her hands is to resign from her post.

It shows from her resignation that the PTV management would rather save the reputation of one individual at a higher post and not address such a serious issue regarding women.

It is indeed a sad state of affairs.

Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay: Episode 4 – A Must Watch

0

I must start this review with some of Bibi’s dialogues because she did a great job of explaining who and what Qabacha is! “

“Us ko tu sara zamana janta hai vo andhi toofan jo hai na apni jaib mei liye phirta hai”.

“Khuda ke liye sub sheeshay ki cheezen sambhal lo”

“Jab Saniya us ke samne aati thi tu vo bechara bawla ho jata tha”

For those people who have not seen the prequel and are not acquainted with the character, Bibi summed everything up very well. I think this was a great way of introducing people, who have not seen the play, to the character and it must have refreshed the memories of those who have seen the prequel. Another very interesting aspect of today’s episode was that Serena and Zeenia already knew all about Qabacha, so he is no stranger to them. They know that Qabacha was interested in Sanya and everything else that they need to know about him. Qabacha’s son’s name is also very unique Shamsuddin Iltakwish, I think we should just stick to kishmish!

Saniya and Aani hope that Qabacha will bring Faran back to life and I enjoyed the part where they sat and wondered if Qabacha will still be eager to keep close ties with them or not. Even after so many years Behroz Sabzwari was spot on as Qabacha and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him on-screen.

Serena is more than willing to be Easternized and one can see that in her attire and how she feels about her surroundings. On the other hand Zeenia is still planning to go away and the incident with the robbers helped her make up her mind further. When the robbery scene came I was wondering what could possibly be the relevance of this scene but I found out soon enough that it was meant to create some confusion in Zain’s mind since he just decided to stay on in Pakistan and start a business.

Qabacha’s meeting with the entire family was amazingly well done but I liked his first encounter with Sanya and Faran the best. I am waiting to see just how long it takes Faran to welcome Qabacha back in his life. We know this much by now that the reason for change in Faran’s personality is due to some big loss in business mainly because someone close to him cheated him. I must say I am somewhat disappointed to hear that because there is no emotional value attached to the loss but we don’t know for sure right now.

The last episode ended with Qabacha’s entry and this one with Shehryaar Munawwar entering into Zeenia’s life and what a filmi scene that was! It was nicely done and the passport falling into the aquarium sort of made it less romantic and more ironic! I am definitely looking forward to the next installment and more than anything else I m waiting to see more of Qabacha and also Serena and Zeenia.

Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay Episode 9 – Extremely Engaging & Funny

This latest episode opened with Kabacha attaining the impossible; making Faraan uncle smile and restoring his faith in the people around him. I absolutely loved this first scene, it was touching and sweet. Kabacha is spot on with his ‘kabhi ap mere dil se khelti hai, kabhi meri jaan se’ dialogues and the poor man is facing a predicament now with Sanya telling him she will kill him if Faraan uncle and Aani move out! Marina Khan and Behroze Sabzwari still have the same chemistry which they did years back and you can’t help but smile every time these two come on screen.

Why does Zeenia have such a wrong impression of her father? She actually expects him to be interested in other women. I have a feeling that she derived the wrong conclusions from the arguments that Zain and Zara had in the past. When Sofia said to Zain “kiya tumhei isi liye tu use dekh ke ghussa ata hai kyun ke vo Zara ke jaisi lagti hai”, it really made me think what she meant. There is definitely a lot of mystery surrounding this family and it just makes me want to know more. Syra Yusef and Alishba Yusef make the perfect sisters on screen. Shehryaar Munawar’s acting was much more convincing today and he acted perfectly all through the “interview’ scene with Serena’s father. I really like Zarak’s character; he is a very patriotic person and is very positive as well. Zeenia has finally approved of him and we also found out that Zain also knows Zarak’s family. Zeenia refuses to stay in Pakistan and Zarak cannot hear anything against his country. Mona and Serena’s commentary in the background when Zarak and Zeenia are having an argument just added to the fun. The script has been brilliantly written and the acting and direction is just as good.

Faraan uncle is finally out of his room and actively participating in what is happening around the house. Zeenia is already willing to make changes for Zarak and the way Sanya convinced her to wear shalwar kameez was so appropriate. Later on when Bibi jaan says that she will not leave without getting the two engaged, Zain looks at all the elders in the room before saying yes. These are small details which we really don’t get to see that often anymore. The engagement scene was very nicely done and it looked like there were happy times ahead. Zain really needs to act like a grown up and sort things out with Zeenia.

In my opinion this latest episode was the best one so far. Shehryaar Munawar’s acting is improving by leaps and bounds and I am looking forward to seeing more of him. I really missed the Kishmish/Serena scenes today and I hope we get to see enough of them in the next episode. Kabacha’s dialogues are so in line with his character and so are Sanya’s. They are the same people there were so many years back. TNS is just getting better and making me smile without even trying very hard.

Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay Episode 7 – Love Is In The Air!

Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay has given us some of the cutest characters and I can’t help but fall in love with them. It is a simple and honest story that helps me unwind on a Saturday night. Every character is different from the other but equally adorable. Kishmish se kisi ki pareshani dekhi nahi jati and the way he tried to help Serena out was too sweet. I don’t blame Serena for falling for this young gentleman; even with all his flaws he is very likeable indeed. Shehroz Sabzwari has done complete justice to his character and whoever chose him to play this role made a very wise choice. Chandni has definitely grown on me and I enjoyed the bickering between Chandi and Bibi. I must agree with Bibi it must be very painful for Chandni to stay quiet even for a few seconds! The two have a love-hate relationship and I can totally relate to Bibi’s character, that is how most people get in their old age. No one that age would have the patience for someone like Chandni.

The Mona-Serena scenes were also a treat to watch today; the dialogues were brilliant and so was the direction and acting. Serena maybe like Sanya in many ways but unlike Sanya she does not seem like the kind of girl who would wait forever to find the perfect man. In fact Serena is obsessed with Sanya khala’s shadi and Sanya won’t hear of it. The scene on the dinner table was very well-done too. TNS has a very sitcom feel to it and half of the credit goes to the script and the direction. Everyone in this play has such an eventful life, I feel like my own life is very grim compared to theirs!

Zeenia is finally warming up to Zarak; well the poor guy has worked hard enough, so that is well deserved. The way the two sisters have a heart to heart conversation at night is also another thing that is so relatable. I am sure all sisters who share a bedroom have these conversations before sleeping. Zeenia and Serena may argue all the time but the fact is that they cannot do without each other.

Behroze Sabzwari is absolutely brilliant and I enjoyed all his disguises and his repeated attempts to get close to Sanya. It does not seem likely that Sanya will ever accept Kabacha’s proposal but I really do wish that the two end up together! So, how many marriages will take place in this sequel? I can’t help but wonder. Kabacha is a man on a mission and something tells me that he will be able to achieve what he is working on. He maybe simple but he is also very smart.

Zarak Khan has much more to his credit than what appears on the surface and the traditions of his family were nicely portrayed too. The young man has a lot going for him so in my opinion Zeenia should not even think twice now!

Today’s episode revolved around all the “girls” (young and old, after all they are all girls at heart). The episode ended on an exciting note and I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of TNS. These are Naye Silsilay for sure and I have no reason to complain. I must appreciate the way Mohammad Ahmed has taken the story forward and Marina Khan has done a very good job with the direction.

Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay Episode 5 – Going Strong

0

You know what I like about this sequel the most till now; the fact that it is not a thought provoking drama but it still manages to stir all the right emotions in you. All these episodes of TNS have made me cry a tear or two and they have surely made me laugh as well. I think this is nothing short of an achievement. I simply love the simple but heart tugging dialogues and the perfection with which they are delivered is equally impressive. Each episode of TNS leaves me with a nice feeling and definitely makes me come back for more.

I am glad that I was wrong in assuming that there was no emotional value attached to Faran’s loss. It was Apa begum’s son who was responsible for everything that happened to Faran. Some of you may not know who Apa Begum was, she was Faran’s sister, a very strict woman with a rigid set of rules and regulations to run the house.

Even after so many years Sanya still enjoys torturing Qabacha and I absolutely loved all the scenes with Qabacha and Sanya in them. Qabacha is exceptionally cute; innocent like a grown up baby and only Behroze Sabzwari could have pulled off such a complicated character with such ease. After all how many such actors are out there who can look cute playing such a character. I am absolutely certain that the chemistry that exists between Behroze Sabzwari and Marina Khan is unparalleled, the timing, the dialogue delivery and the expressions, all are always spot-on. Muhammad Ahmed and Haseena Moin have done a superb job with writing the script as well otherwise these characters could not have come alive on-screen with such perfection after so many years. All of Qabacha’s dialogues were masterpieces, lines like “Zehn mei kuch sawalat machal rahe thay”, “tandoor wale sahib, majazi khuda, Chandni ke aba”, “alfaz ka aik samandar tha jo behta ja raha tha”…okay they don’t sound that good when you only read them but they were a delight to hear coming from the legend himself!

Must move forward, enough about Qabacha….I could go on forever though and can you blame me? He is so adorable! Some of the viewers were hoping that Zara may still be alive but Aani said it out loud today “Zara hamei chor ke chali gaye ab vo is duniya mei nahi hai”.

Zain’s helplessness regarding Zeenia’s attitude and Zeenia’s attitude towards her father raised a lot of questions in today’s episode as well. The scene where Zeenia shows Zain her passport and Sanya hugs her was wonderfully done. I got a felling that Sophia, the new character, with whom Zain was talking to on the phone has something to do with the tension between the father and daughter.

There was enough of Zarak Khan (Shehryar Munawar) in this episode and I must say that it may take me sometime to like him. I find the excessive make up that our male actors wear extremely distracting and Shehryaar Munawar was wearing a lot of it. Zarak Khan will have to try harder to win me over unlike all the other characters with whom I fell in love with almost immediately. The Zeenia/Zarak Khan confrontations seemed a little over done maybe because I am not being very fair and comparing them to Qabacha and Saniya!

Tanhaiyaan undoubtedly is going strong and gives me something to look forward to every week. I am hoping that the Zeenia/Zarak track grows on me soon!

None of the secrets were revealed in today’s episode but does that mean this episode was any less engaging…most certainly not. There were so many things I liked about this latest episode that honestly speaking I have no idea where to start from. The Opening scene was extremely moving…..who says Zara is not part of this sequel, I feel even though the character may not be a part of the play but the story to a large extent revolves around Zara and she has been given her due position in the show even though Shehnaz Sheik refused to be a part of this play due to personal reasons. Sania’s conversation with Zara was absolutely heart-wrenching and totally made up for Zara’s absence. The way Sania listens and responds to Zara went to show that the two sisters still shared the same bond which they did years back.

I absolutely love Serena, she is a breath of fresh air and Syra Yusef is very well-suited for this role. I thoroughly enjoyed the way Serena “handled” Zeenia’s reaction to Zain’s decision. She knows her sister too well and did not waste her time arguing with her or trying to talk her out of going against Zain’s decision. But instead she very conveniently put the passport away and went away to have some fun with her Sania Khala, way to go girl!

I can’t help but like Zeenia too, it is also very nice to see Alishba Yusef playing this character. Whoever is responsible for the casting has done a fabulous job. I have so many relatives living abroad who feel the way Zeenia feels about Pakistan. They think that it is not the safest place to live in and most of them just lock themselves up in the house when they come to visit. I am waiting to see how and when Zeenia’s opinion about the country and its people changes. What did Zara tell her about her country that has made her so scared of living here? I can’t help but wonder. Zeenia and Serena do remind me of Zara and Sania and the pillow fighting scene really took me down the memory lane….very well done.

Bibi made me go into fits of laughter today and Chandni was equally hilarious. “Yeh koi angrazi kisam ka dora hai…kiya apna ghonsala bana rahi hai? kiya yeh suitcase mei rahe gi”…absolutely brilliant. Durdana Butt still has the magic she had years back and she is an absolute delight to watch. The way Zain finally approaches Sania was also very sweet “Bachoo ki tarah kutti kur ke beith jana” reference was very cute.

The end of this latest episode gave me something to look forward to but I must say that even though I was waiting to see Qabacha more than anyone else, only after three episodes I am so into the characters that I simple love all of them.

Haseena Moin and Mohammad Ahmed have come up with a superb script which has all the right ingredients in the right proportions. Marina Khan has directed it to perfection and the entire cast, old and new is totally into their characters. I will definitely be watching this episode one more time again before the next one goes on air…great job everyone.

Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay – The Finale

Tanhiyaan aur Mohabeitin azal se jari hei aur abad tuk jari rahe gi

Raaston mein andheri atay rahe gay pur charagh bhi jalte rahe gay

Faraan Uncle summed up the essence of life in these two lines, life is all about hope and despair; there are times when we laugh so much that our bellies hurt and others when we are so disillusioned that we don’t know what the next moment holds for us but having faith that there will betnsss better times is what helps everyone go through life. After years of living a very difficult life Zain finally got his family and friends back. Faraan uncle’s faith in relationships was restored and his loss redeemed. Zeenia and Zarak realized that life is about so much more than proving your point, putting oneself first and taking revenge. Sanya holds friendship before everything else and Kabacha will continue loving Sanya just like he always has.

The light hearted family scenes were all wonderfully scripted and acted out to perfection. The way the entire family overhears all the conversations and very actively participates in convincing Zeenia to stop Zarak from going back was beautifully done. I have to say that like many other previous episodes Syra Yusef yet again stole the show today. Every girl should have a sister like Serena in her life, who is wise, fun, intelligent and caring. The way Serena explains to Zeenia how relationships work in Pakistan made for few of my favorite lines, ‘yahan aisa hi hota hai, dusru pe haq jitana, dusru se apna huq mangna, beghair bataye ghur puhanch jana, khana mangna….apni murzi ke kupre pehnana…yeh sub yahan ke culture mei hai, is se apnayat zahir hoti hai”.

TNSI have to say that I wanted this finale to be a little bit more about everyone than the main focus being on Zeenia and Zarak mainly because Alishba Yusef and Shehryar Munawar failed to connect with me and although there were few times when I wanted the two of them to be together but my heart was not with them, the way it was with Kishmish/Serena and Kabacha/Sanya. The way it was done was more fun than touching because of the reason I mentioned already. The Zeenia/Zarak confrontation had the potential to be extremely powerful but the scene completely fell flat because of the lack of chemistry between the two artists.

My favorite scene of this finale had to the very brief King Kong and pink panther scene in the end because it reminded me of the old times and the way Sanya and Zain used to be. I wish we could have seen more of that. Seeing the family back together again, happy and smiling with all the problems sorted out surely brought a smile to my face.

I really wanted Sanya and Kabacha to end up together but honestly speaking I am TNSglad it happened the way it did because I was having a very tough time imagining the two of them being married. Friendship no doubt is a very strong bond and one that can see people through thick and thin. Sanya holds Kabacha’s friendship and the way he feels about her very dear and she confesses that she missed him when he was away.

Overall I really enjoyed every episode of Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay right from the start and I am going to miss Serena and Kishmish and Kabacha and Sanya in particular. It was a simple story told in a very honest way. I have to say that Haseena Moin, Mohammad Ahmed and Jaleel Akhtar did a commendable job of carrying the Tanhaiyan silsilay forward and the effort Marina Khan put into directing the show was quite evident. For me all the old artists were a delight to watch all over again but Behroze Sabzwari in particular managed to achieve the impossible by brining Kabacha alive on screen after so many years. Kabacha always was and always will be my most favorite character. Out of all the new additions I have to say that Syra Yusef was the most impressive, she was simply adorable as Serena and totally won my heart.

A very special thanks to the entire team of Tanhaiyaan Naye Silsilay for brining this fun filled family drama to our television screens. I have to give special credit to the writers for very gracefully tackling with the ‘disappearance’ of Zara. I am going to miss this play; it was short, sweet and gave me a break from all the routine dramas.

Tanhaiyaan Nayee Silsilay Episode 8 – Smiles All The Way!

First thing is first, someone please tell me what is in the box? I am guessing Zara’s photos, diary and letters. But if that is the case than why is Zain hiding them from Serena and Zeenia? I can’t wait to find out! Serena is too cute for words…have I said this before? well I must say it again then! Syra Yusef has an excellent chemistry with all her co-stars and I must give her the entire credit. I thoroughly enjoy her “confrontations” with Zeenia and all of the scenes with her father are too sweet. I thought the way Serena explained to her father who Zarak Barak was and what he does was too funny. I must give due credit to Jaleel Akhtar and Mohammad Ahmed for the script, coming up with the new characters and the screenplay. If anyone noticed in the credentials three different writers were credited, the credits went something like this , original story and characters developed by: Haseena Moin, story Nayee Silsilay: Jaleel Akhtar , screenplay and dialogue: Mohammad Ahmed… good job all of you, the end product is spot on so overall it is a good team effort.

Zarak and Zeenia have more in common than they could ever have imagined. The Zarak/Zeenia scene in the coffee shop was very well written and directed but I must say that Shehryaar Munawar’s weak dialogue delivery killed half of the fun for me. Zarak Khan the character is absolutely adorable, he is kind, intelligent and caring but Shehryaar Munawar really needs to work harder on his expressions and dialogue delivery. Despite of this I am hoping that Zeenia will decide to stay and Zarak will manage to change her mind.

Serena makes me laugh every time she comes on-screen. Kishmish and Serena are picture perfect and both the actors are ideal for their roles. Serena has everyone wrapped around her little finger and the way she convinced Kishmish to invite her for dinner was just out of this world. Not only this, she is also trying very hard to get Sanya married even against all the odds. The rishta interviews were another very interesting part of this latest episode. I really enjoyed Saife Hassan’s guest appearance as one of the candidates and the duel scene.

I think it is rather odd that even after so much time Zain and Sanya are not talking to each other and I really feel that Sanya needs to ask Zain things directly rather than jumping into conclusions since she has proven time and again that she still trusts Zain.

Overall, Tanhiayaan Nayee Silsilay is an absolute delight to watch. I love the pace of the show and all the characters are simple and sweet, nothing complicated or heavy duty. Today’s episode ended on an emotional and happy note. I have to say that I am really looking forward to watching more of Serena and Kishmish more than anyone else.

Tanhaiyaan Nayee Silsilay Episode 6 – Simple And Sweet

There wasn’t much development in the story in today’s episode but it had quite a few scenes that made me laugh and one scene in particular which was very moving. The scene when Serena and Zain are having a heart-to-heart conversation with each other right after Zeenia once again makes her father feel like he has never been a good father or husband. I simply love the faith Serena has in her dad and when Zain said “mujhe tum se batein kur ke aik dafa phir apne aap pe yakeen aa jata hai”, I could feel his pain. It happens so often with everyone of us when people who we love make us feel like we are not good enough or that we don’t give our relationships our best. It seems like Zain and Zara had a rocky relationship. Was it that Zara was very possessive about Zain and they fought a lot because of that? That is what I gathered from all the conversations regarding Zain and Zara today. Zeenia says to Zain that he used to shout at his mother like he was shouting at her and that Zara never liked it that Zain worked with women. Zeenia’s stubbornness and her attitude not just towards her father but also towards her sister and everyone else around her is getting to me. Serena lives life to the fullest but is sensitive and caring at the same time. While I understand that Zeenia is still trying to recover from the shock of her mother’s death but even then it seems like she is stubborn by nature. I am definitely loving Serena’s character; she is bubbly, fun and loving. Syra Yusef is turning into a brilliant actress and I expect a lot more from her in the future too.

Aani is always the voice of reason and I like how she explains everything to everyone without sounding too assertive. Kabacha is on a new mission to take revenge from the people who got Faraan into trouble and his plans made it sound like there are many interesting things to look forward to…bring it on Kabaacha.

I felt really sorry for poor Kishmish today, Serena will do anything to be a part of his film and the poor fellow does not know how to deal with Serena and Chandni both. I must add here that today for the first time I really enjoyed Chandni’s scenes, they were so hilarious! But I would not want a maid like her in my house, God the woman talks so much! Kaif Ghaznavi (Chandni) performed really well today and she is another person I am looking forward to seeing more of now.

Zeenia and Zarak Khan are still fighting like they just walked out of a Bollywood flick. These two actors definitely don’t have the kind of chemistry that one would wish for. Shehryaar Munawar was much better in today’s episode as compared to the last one but I am not exactly sold yet! By the way I did not quite get it, where did Zarak Khan get Zeenia’s number from since he had her number saved in his phone…maybe Sanya gave it to him since everyone is trying so hard that they should be friends. It was great to see Nosheen (Sophia) on-screen after such a long time, even though it was only for a minute or so. She looked radiant even after so many years.

Overall, this was an engaging episode, I definitely enjoyed most of the comedy scenes and in my opinion today’s episode belonged to Syra Yusef.

Tanhaiyaan Nayee Silsilay Episode 10 – Kabaacha You Are Adorable!

Kabaacha is too cute and adorable for words and I may have said this before but I have to say it again that only Behroz Sabzwari could have done such a brilliant job of portraying such a difficult character. Kabaacha may love Saniya a lot but he is not selfish, he wants Saniya to be happy even if it means she marries Iftikhar. Kabaacha may have many flaws but I have to say Saniya is truly blessed to have someone like him to love her; I would really like it if Saniya has a change of heart and the two live happily ever after. Although for now all this seems next to impossible.

It was so good to see Faraan uncle resolving Kabaacha’s problems and even nicer to see him ignoring Saniya’s lies which she is telling so that she could avoid the marriage. Saniya is trying her best to convince her family that she actually wants to marry Iftikhar but no one is being fooled although they are playing along with it all.

Zeenia is still not sure whether she wants to stay in Pakistan or not and I absolutely love Zarak’s attitude. He is optimistic and has faith in his love for Zeenia. He is most certainly one of his kind too, very liberal but also much attached to his country. Zarak’s life takes an ugly turn in today’s episode and the moment I heard the news, I started wondering how Zeenia would react to it. She is already so scared of staying in Pakistan and after such an incident she will be even more convinced that this country is not the safest place to live in. or will she decide to stay by Zarak’s side now that he needs her the most? For now Zeenia’s biggest concern is Zarak’s safety but what Zarak had to say in response to Zeenia’s question was not at all like him. I would not expect someone so positive to even think about taking someone’s life; I have a feeling that his plan does not include killing anyone.

Kishmish finds out Kabaacha’s “masterpiece” and shared the details with Serena instantly. The scene in which he tells his father about the ‘script’ was too cute. I find it hilarious the way Kabaacha can never figure these things out; like the time he was wondering just how Faraan uncle knew that his love life was in trouble and won’t tell him the name of the girl he loved! Kabaacha is one person who never bores me and I would like to see Behroze Sabzwari doing more comedy roles.

This latest episode had bits and pieces of everyone’s life, like all the previous episodes and I really enjoyed watching each of these characters on screen. The part where Iftikhar tells Saniya how someone told everyone about the marriage via facebook was also very interesting. I am waiting to find out how Zarak avenges his parents’ and uncle’s death and now I am really into the Zarak/Zeenia track as well, hoping that Zeenia will accept Zarak and living in the country whole heartedly.

Tanhaiyaan Naye Silsilay Episode 12 – The Secret Is Out

Dilon mei jo phul khile unhe chupanay nahi chahyeh….Waada torne se agr dosti bachti ho, koye kasam torne se agur zindagi bachti ho tu sochna nahi chahyeh.

Wow what beautiful and moving dialogues, it was like listening to heart warming poetry and they were delivered perfectly by Asif Raza Mir in particular. This was a moving episode right from the very first fiery scene till the end. Zerena’s confrontation with her father revealed the secret in the box and it was no surprise that the box contained Zara’s pictures and memories. The reason Zain held the box so close to him was that he never got over the guilt he felt because of how he did not work on his relationship with Zara and also because he still loved Zara dearly. Now we know the reason behind Zeenia’s cold and very often offensive attitude towards Zain. Zara who was very afraid of living alone was left to deal with everything on her own with no relatives to rely on. Even if Zara had relatives around she was not the one to depend on anyone. Zara did not learn anything from the mistakes she committed in the past and that is the reason she kept herself distant even from Sanya because Zara always depended on her own self for resolving her problems and until those problems got resolved she shut herself from the world. When Zain told everyone that Zara started taking anti depressants without prescription, my first instinct was how was that possible and Faraan uncle asked that question too. So who was it in Pakistan who was sending Zara the pills?

Serena was mostly away from home so all of what Zain told everyone was completely new to her. And that has to be the reason why she stayed so carefree and bubbly, ignorance is bliss. Zerena saw her mother going through such a difficult time and also saw the way her father treated her therefore she was right in not being able to forgive Zain. But at the same time Zeenia never shared any of this with Serena, which just goes to show how much she loves her sister. She did not want Serena to be affected by what was happening in the house. Zeenia only saw the fights between her parents but never knew about her mother’s medical condition, so she did not know just how hard her father fought to get Zara treated.

Zain’s conversation with Sanya brought tears to my eyes. Asif Raza Mir and Marina Khan both were absolutely brilliant today. Zain’s love for Zara and the way he explained everything was beautifully scripted. Zeenia finally realizes what her father went through and how wrong she was in doubting him. I just hope that Zeenia does not commit the same mistake that Zara did and manages to put her feelings for Zarak before her ego.

The Serena/Kishmish meeting was directed to perfection; the rose petals on the floor and the conversation that followed brought a smile to my face like always. Syra Yusef and Shehroz Sabzwari share amazing chemistry and I am hoping we will be getting to see more of them in the future too. But I must also say that no one can beat Sanya and Kabaacha. Sanya’s emergency fiancé backfired and Kabacha was relieved to know that he still had a chance. Will Sanya have a change of heart? Although I cannot imagine these two being married but I really want to see Kabaacha happy. His love for Sanya is so pure and innocent.

I must say that this was my most favorite episode of TNS, it was wonderfully written, very well directed and brilliantly acted out by everyone. Kudos to the entire team of TNS for a job well done. I am really looking forward to a happy ending.
