Must-Watch Dramas Of This Season

With so many dramas on air nowadays on innumerable entertainment channels, sometimes it can be difficult for the viewers to decide which drama is worth watching and which one they should not even bother tuning into. There was a time not very long ago when it was difficult to make even one list of must-watch dramas of the season in a year because there weren’t enough dramas which were truly worth watching but things have changed for the better now since there are many writers and producers who have come up with quality scripts which have also been executed brilliantly on screen by skillful directors.

Here is a list of must-watch dramas of this season. The list is in alphabetical order.

Munkir

Written by: Zafar Mairaj
Directed by: Nadeem Siddique
Produced by: Everready Group of Companies
Channel: TvOne
Timing: Sunday 8PM
Cast: Nida Khan, Osman Khalid Butt, Ahmed Ali, Mahjabeen, Nayla Jaffery & others.

Munkir has just recently hit our TV screens and the very first episode seemed to be quite promising. Munkir is going to be a story of a girl who falls in love with a terrorist that too when she herself is at the verge of getting married to someone else. The first episode laid a foundation of how the girl’s life is about to get changed because she makes a choice to please herself just before she is getting married. The first episode of Munkir seemed straight forward with a lot of detailing about the characters and their priorities in life. The conversations in the very first episode seemed meaningful and interesting. The best part so far was the relationship that has been shown between a stepmother & a daughter. Even though this drama is going to revolve around a love triangle but the different plot definitely makes it a must watch.

Must-Watch Dramas Of This Season

Muqabil

Written by: Zafar Mairaj
Directed by: Ali Hassan
Produced by: Big Bang Entertainment
Channel: ARY
Timing: Tuesday 8pm
Cast: Mohsin Abbas Khan, Kubra Khan, Asif Raza Mir, Saba Hameed, Saife Hassan, Shaheen Khan & others.

It is always refreshing as well as entertaining to watch dramas which break free from the usual formulas and dare to be different. Not all dramas which attempt to be different succeed in doing so intelligently. Muqabil definitely manages to be not just different but also unpredictable and extremely enticing. Muqabil can easily be termed as a complete package which has some spell-binding performances, a strong, well-thought-out script and has been directed superbly. Muqabil will keep you at the edge of your seat. Mohsin Abbas Haider, Kubra Khan and Asif Raza Mir’s performances in particular are bound to sweep the viewers off of their feet and the plot will keep the audience hooked to their television screens.

Among all the dramas on air right now and those which have aired in the recent past which dealt with the issue of child abuse or rape Muqabil is the best one so far. If you haven’t watched Muqabil already, tune into it as soon as you can and you will definitely enjoy the ride.

Must-Watch Dramas Of This Season

Nazr-e-Bad

Written by: Imran Nazir
Directed by: Iqbal Hussain
Produced by: Moomal Entertainment
Channel: Hum TV
Timing: Wednesday & Thursday 9PM
Cast: Azfar Rehman, Sara Khan, Ali Abbas, Waseem Abbas, Sakina Samo, Fazila Qazi & others.

If you are in a mood for a rollercoaster ride of reality based story, then Nazr e Bad is the drama for you. Nazr e Bad’s story depicts how envy, hatred, jealousy and stubbornness can get the better of people and push them to the limit where they start playing with fire by resorting to black magic. The fact that makes Nazr e Bad a very interesting and gripping story is that the drama makers have stayed true to the message that they are trying to convey because everything has been presented realistically, after a lot of research.

This drama is showing the evil that is widespread in our society and it is a done deal that those who themselves have been affected or know of someone who is going through it can actually relate to what is being portrayed in the drama. Nazr e Bad surely is one of a kind drama because we haven’t seen any such drama in ages, which depicted black magic and its grave consequences in such an apt manner.

Must-Watch Dramas Of This Season

Pinjra

Written by: Imran Nazir
Directed by: Kashif Nisar
Produced by: Twenty Sixth Frame Entertainment
Channel: Aplus
Timing: Wednesday 8pm
Cast: Yumna Zaidi, Hassan Ahmed, Samina Ahmed, Hassan Niazi, Faiza Gillani, Kiran Haq, Azra Aftab, Daniyal Raheal, Farah Tufail, Sonia Nazir & others.

Pinjra is a must-watch for all those viewers out there who like a heavy dose of reality depicted on screen impeccably by a strong cast. It is also a different take on Vani which involves a lot of raw emotions. This isn’t the first time that Kashif Nisar has done complete justice to a complicated script by making it come alive on screen in a realistic manner. Imran Nazir’s powerful script enacted on screen brilliantly by a team which put in a lot of hard work into making this serial a drama which is bound to transport you to another world which is very different and dark from the one we live in.

Must-Watch Dramas Of This Season

Rasm-e-Duniya

Written by: Imran Nazir
Directed by: Roomi Insha
Produced by: Abdullah Seja
Channel: ARY
Timing: Thursday 8pm
Cast: Armeena Rana Khan, Bilal Abbas Khan, Sami Khan, Javed Sheikh, Samina Peerzada, Dia Mughal, Dania Anwar, Saba Bukhari, Nida Mumtaz & others.

Only one episode of Rasme-e-Duniya has gone air so far but even then it is in this list because this drama will remind you of dramas like Mera Naseeb and even Sadqay Tumhare because of the complicated relationships, secrets which are not yet revealed. Also, the chemistry between Armeena Rana Khan and Bilal Abbas Khan makes it a must-watch. Those viewers who enjoyed watching Armeena Rana Khan nail her role in Mohabbat Ab Nahi Hogi will love watching her play the role of a simple girl for whom life will very soon get complicated. Bilal Abbas Khan is one of the most powerful performers among all the newcomers and he once again is all set to make his presence felt in Rasm-e-Duniya. Do watch the first episode of Rasm-e-Duniya and you will have tons of reasons to tune into it next week too.

Must-Watch Dramas Of This Season

Titlee

Written by: Sameena Ejaz
Directed by: Ahmed Bhatti
Produced by: Gold Bridge Media
Channel: Urdu1
Timing: Friday 8pm
Cast: Hania Amir, Ali Abbas, Abid Ali, Saba Faisal, Seemi Pasha, Atif Rathore, Shahmeen Khan, Tauqeer Ahmed, Shazia Shah, Taqi Ahmed, Neha Laj & others.

Titlee marks the debut of Hania Amir on the small screen and she makes her presence felt in a role which definitely does not qualify as those run-of-the-mill characters which most actresses choose to begin their acting careers with. One of the main reasons why Titli is a must-watch is that for a change it isn’t just the story of a woman but the male protagonist’s story is just as important as that of a female. We have seen women getting married to men who don’t value them a little too often, Titli tells a different story of a man who is in that situation. Titli manages to achieve what many drama serials in the recent past failed to do; it shows that sometimes men can also be victims of marital abuse. (Xanax) The latest turn in the story clearly indicated that the viewers will get to see many interesting twists in the story. Also, for a change it is good to see a female protagonist who is not perfect but she is someone you will love to hate!

Must-Watch Dramas Of This Season

Yeh Raha Dil

Written by: Mustafa Afridi
Directed by: Siraj ul Haq
Produced by: MD Productions
Channel: Hum TV
Timing: Monday 8PM
Cast: Ahmed Ali, Yumna Zaidi, Anam Ahmed & others.

After impressing people with a phenomenal script like Sang e Marmar, writer Mustafa Afridi has another treat for the viewers and it is Yeh Raha Dil. There is no doubt about the fact that this drama got a lot of attention because Mustafa Afridi’s name was attached to it and also because the drama makers promised it to be a romantic comedy. Yeh Raha Dil happens to be a story of three people belonging to different walks of life and having completely different personalities. It is obvious that the viewers are going to get a love triangle but there’s nothing objectionable about it if it falls in the category of romantic comedy. Till date only one episode has gone on air and it surely gave it a promising start, especially the witty and humor filled dialogues made it a very entertaining drama. All those who are a fan of Yumna Zaidi’s acting and Mustafa Afridi’s writing, then this drama is surely for you.

Must-Watch Dramas Of 2015

The most important factor which makes a drama a must-watch is how well it manages to hold the attention of the viewers right till the end. Even if there are loopholes in the script and if there are some editing mistakes, they can easily be overlooked if the drama as a whole provides the viewers with good entertainment. Nowadays unpredictable scripts, strong characters and a drama that ends without being stretched is considered as a winner in everyone’s eyes. The viewers who are hooked on Pakistani dramas kept on watching whatever different channels had to offer in the hope that one of these dramas will provide the kind of entertainment they were looking for. But there were very few dramas which made their mark because most of the dramas banked on clichéd scripts and most importantly there were many dramas that went off-track because they were stretched.

In my opinion following plays count as must-watch plays of 2015 because of different reasons that have been mentioned below. The list is in alphabetical order.

Alvida

Writer: Samira Fazal

Director: Shehzad Kashmiri

Produced By: Momina Duraid, Humayun Saeed, Shahzad Naseeb.

Cast: Imran Abbas, Sanam Jung, Naveen Waqar, Zahid Ahmed, Mahmood Aslam, Sara Khan, Haris Waheed & others.

What makes Alvida a must-watch is its pace and an unpredictable storyline. Like all other plays written by Samira Fazal, this one too has some unexpected twists and turns that will keep you at the edge of your seats and characters that will give the viewers a lot to discuss. For the first time Zahid Ahmed’s performance in a negative role was highly appreciated by the viewers when he played the character of Rameez in this play. Sara Khan outshone in a negative role and surprised the viewers with her brilliant acting and screen-presence. Sanam Jung was seen in a drama for the first time after Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai and Haya although was reckless and immature but her character was far more appealing than that of Romaissa. Imran Abbas played his role brilliantly too. There were some loopholes in the script that made you question certain developments but overall it was a very entertaining play free of clichés.

It was one of those rare dramas which had the perfect ending in which everyone got what they deserved in the end.

alvida

Digest writer

Writer: Madiha Shahid

Director: Syed Ahmed Kamran

Produced By: Larachi Entertainment

Cast: Saba Qamar, Gohar Rasheed, Maheen Jaffri, Aiman Khan, Mehmood Akhtar, Sajida Syed, Parveen Akbar, Agha Ali & others.

Digest Writer was lauded by the viewers for a realistic script, characters which viewers had absolutely no problem connecting to and direction which did complete justice to the script. Digest writer was the story of Fareeda who had a passion for writing; her journey as a digest writer and later on as a script writer along with her personal struggles was what the story of the drama revolved around. The perfect execution of the drama won the hearts of many. People who were sick and tired of watching the same old stories unravel on their television screens welcomed Digest Writer like a breath of fresh air. All the actors were absolutely brilliant in their respective roles but Saba Qamar, Agha Ali and Gauhar Rasheed owned their characters more than any other.

drama1

Diyar-e-Dil

Writer: Farhat Ishtiaq

Director: Haseeb Hassan

Produced by: Momina Duraid

Cast: Abid Ali, Sanam Saeed, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Maya Ali, Osman Khalid Butt, Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan, Behroze Sabzwari, Tara Mehmood, Rasheed Naz, Eshita & others.

Diyar-e-Dil was Pyare Afzal of this year; it was on air for 33 weeks but even then the viewers missed it once it ended. Diyar-e-Dil enticed the viewers right from the get-go because of its breathtaking locations and a very happening first episode. Gradually the viewers fell in love with the characters which were intriguing and unforgettable. Abid Ali’s brilliant performance along with Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali’s on-screen chemistry made the viewers fall in love with the Aunn Zara jodi once again. The one thing that set this drama apart from all others was the emotional connection the viewers had with all the characters and the drama as a whole. The manner in which some very complex family ties were impeccably translated on screen was appreciated by the viewers as well. It was a story which covered many generations and showing all these generations and their relationships with each other with absolute brilliance was a huge accomplishment.

drama7

Mera Naam Yousuf Hai

Writer: Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar

Director: Mehreen Jabbar

Produced by: Sadia Jabbar

Cast: Imran Abbas, Maya Ali, Hina Bayat, Behroze Sabzwari, Waseem Abbas, Mizna Waqas, Taqi Ahmed, Ali Sheikh, Seema Sehr & others.

Mera Naam Yousuf Hai was emotional, filmy and had some very strong and unconventional female leads to its credit. Just like all the plays written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar this one too did not only focus on the lead but had side characters that sometimes made you connect to them more than the leading characters. Apart from some very impactful characters, powerful dialogues and smooth direction this play is one of those very few plays of this season which was not stretched at all. It ended when the ending was least expected with a twist which put a smile on everyone’s face. The viewers got to see some memorable performances by all the actors young and old. A deep and meaningful script brought beautifully to life by a team of dedicated individuals, Mera Naam Yousuf Hai was a personal favorite.

drama10

Sadqay Tumhare

Writer: Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar

Director: Ehteshamuddin

Produced By: Momina Duraid, Samina Hamayun Saeed and Tariq Shah

Cast: Mahira Khan, Adnan Malik, Sammiya Mumtaz, Sanya Shamshad, Qavi Khan, Aamir Qureshi, Farhan Ali Agha, Irfan Khosat, Rehan Sheikh, Shamil Khan & others

Sadqay Tumhare had some stellar performances to its credit, the viewers got to see Sammiya Mumtaz in a negative role for the first time in a play and she gave a spell binding performance every step of the way. Mahira Khan and Adnan Malik’s on-screen chemistry coupled with characters which were unusual and appealing made this love story much more than just another love story. Sadqay Tumhare’s script was bold like all of Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s scripts and this play had some of the most complicated characters to its credit. Sadqay Tumhare is a must watch for all those viewers who want to see all the actors in the cast in some of the most impressive roles and performances of their entire career.

Musicians Are Spoiled, Says Asim Azhar

0

Asim Azhar comes from a family of artists. His father, Azhar Hussain was an ace in playing Piano and he was one of the renowned musicians of Pakistan. His mother Gul-e-Rana is a senior and fruitful TV performing artist.

Musicians Are Spoiled, Says Asim Azhar

Asim on a recent interview with Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, said that in comparison to actors who spent so much energy and effort and have to stay in heavy light and heavy makeup for most of the day, musicians are comparatively spoiled. He said that musicians without a doubt, have to work really hard to get somewhere but acting is a very tough job when compared to any other profession. He said that he has seen his mother and other actors on the sets so he knows how tough the drill is.

Asim further added that with diminishing music channels and record label companies, Musicians have become more independent and they can do anything and everything without any time crunch but this is not the case with actors.

Musicians Are Spoiled, Says Asim Azhar

HSY while adding to the point that Asim had made, said that actors spend twenty hours on sets pouring in their sweat and blood but singers and musicians come in with one or two songs and they become a hit.

Mushtaq Ahmed Warns Wasim Akram & Waqar Younis

Pakistani cricket is in the news due to the cricket team’s poor performance in ICC events, and all the senior Pakistani players are blaming the former players serving in the PCB. Recently, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis questioned Mushtaq Ahmed’s coaching.

Mushtaq Ahmed Warns Wasim Akram & Waqar Younis

Mushtaq Ahmed did not appreciate their blame game and responded to both cricketers, and also warned them of legal action.

Mushtaq Ahmed Warns Wasim Akram & Waqar Younis

Speaking about it, he said, “Fakhr e Alam, through your show, I want to record my protest against two bigwigs of cricket. Questioning my coaching is their right, but I would like to inform them that this is the digital media era. So, I am sending them a message that I will soon initiate legal proceedings. I want to tell Waqar that you don’t fight on the basis of height. I may be short, but I will fight a legal case—15 crore against Wasim and 20 crore against Waqar. I also have bitter memories of Wasim and Waqar trying to shatter my confidence, which falls under harassment. I am now recalling that. Whatever they are saying about me, I have taken offence to that.”

Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis also responded to that video. Wasim Akram said, “Well done Mushi, we love you, don’t be upset with us but I will stick to my words, I still believe that you were not the right person for the night watchman as every time I sent you, you scored a zero. Rest, we will see you in the court”. Waqar Younis apologized and said that he doesn’t have 20 crores to pay as a fine. He said , “I am sorry if you didn’t like what I said, I apologize but if you won’t forgive them we will see someone other way”. Here is the link to the video:

Fans are coming up with mixed reactions. Many are supporting Mushtaq Ahmed and a few are also taking side of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis but most fans are saying that all former Pakistani players are part of the corrupt system. Read comments:

Pakistani dramas are a rollercoaster ride from intrigues to murders and of course the love stories. What people actually love to see is a good leading couple and how they come together despite all odds and opposition from their families and another lady desperate to get the leading man. Though 8 p.m. slots are considered the prime time slots with the dramas airing at 8 p.m. given extra importance but with time the trends have changed. Now 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. dramas are also loved by the audiences and we get to see our favourite stars in them. Plus a drama airing whole week is another attraction for the audience. Mushkil is another winner which got big on rating charts and YouTube views.

Mushk Last Episode Story Review – Perfect Ending

This last episode of Mushk was well-paced and it focused mainly on Adam and Guddi which was the perfect way to end the drama. Every character got the kind of ending which was truly gratifying and befitting. Imran Ashraf deserves a lot of credit and appreciation for wrapping up different tracks gradually instead of rushing towards an ending in the last episode. Mushk will always be remembered as a drama with the most well-etched-out supporting characters and the most intriguing storyline. Every character came into its own towards the end and there were some surprises even in this last episode. Tonight’s episode was short and to the point which was definitely better than unnecessarily adding filler scenes.

Bright New Dawn

This last episode started off on a grim note but everything that happened in the opening scenes eventually led towards a new beginning, bright new dawn after the longest and darkest night. We watched so many of these characters struggling for all these weeks and tonight all of them reached their destinations. Mehak and Shayyan’s ending was the most promising one since even though watching them helpless for the longest time was annoying, it was good to see Shayyan in control at last! He is a sensitive, educated, and intelligent man who would surely change the system for the better now that he has the finances and the power. Muqaddar Khan’s wife’s scene was also an interesting addition to this episode.

Mushk Last Episode Story Review – Perfect Ending

Adam and Guddi’s track was not stretched needlessly; their happy ending was quick and effortless since they had been through more than their fair share of troubles already. Right till the end Guddi wasn’t sure if she should stay and decided to go back to her mother but in the end, the prayer of a faqeer helped Adam put an end to his lifelong search. Guddi got her family back and she also had the love of the only man she ever loved. Adam was more prim and proper tonight than he was ever before which added to the appeal of this character. With dada out of the way, Mehak could easily start a new life without the fear of repercussions. Although, I am usually not in favor of killing off any character in the end, this time around however I feel that it was a really good decision since this was the only way to ensure that Mehak moved on in life without being punished further.

Mushk Last Episode Story Review – Perfect Ending

Goodbye Mushk

Overall, watching and reviewing Mushk turned out to be an exciting journey. Imran Ashraf did not play it safe while penning down the script for the drama and he succeeded at keeping the element of intrigue alive right till the end. Mushk managed to achieve what Ye Dil Mera couldn’t since Aehsun Talish gave this action thriller the right treatment while giving another impactful performance as Muqaddar Khan. The beautiful OST of Mushk was also used intelligently throughout. Urwa Hocane and Imran Ashraf’s on-screen chemistry coupled with the way their story progressed made this one of the most appealing love stories of recent times. Imran Ashraf’s look for the drama and his performance was outstanding throughout. Adam was a really likable character with some strong personality traits which made his character unforgettable. Guddi had my undivided attention throughout since even though her character had so many shortcomings, it was always logical and enticing. There are few such characters that are as engaging as this one was.

Hassan Ahmed’s outstanding performance as the chota Malik and his screen presence made me wonder why he is not seen on the screen more often. I missed watching Qavi Khan in the last few episodes since his short appearances were always so powerful but I am so glad that he made an appearance in the last episode. Raja Haider got to play a completely different role this time around and he nailed it completely, he has come a long way! His performance also went to show that a quality script and a skillful director can bring out the best in an actor. Manzoor Qureshi and Zara Tareen were perhaps those actors who couldn’t get all their scenes shot due to COVID therefore they were missing from these last two episodes except for the last scene in which dada passed away. Sehar Khan performed exceptionally well even when some of her dialogues were not easy to deliver. Raza Talish was equally convincing as a young man with a troubled past. I also really liked the equation between Imran Ashraf and Areeba Ali Hamdani (Guriya). Sami Khan deserves a special mention here for his solid performance and for being part of the drama right till the end. Sohail Sameer also gave an unforgettable performance even though he was part of the drama for a few weeks only. Although Shayyan and Mehak’s track never appealed to me, I was genuinely pleased to see them together and happy in the end.

Mushk gave us some unforgettable moments, well-defined characters, and meaningful dialogues. In a subtle manner, Mushk also highlighted the importance of consent and the double standards of society. Imran Ashraf’s script was novel and appealing at the same time. I am certain that his next script will even be better therefore I will be looking forward to what he has in store next. I am glad that this drama got the attention it deserved.

I would like to thank all those readers who commented regulalry even though there has been an ongoing issue with the comments section.

Drama serial Mushk created a lot of hype when it started. The story consisted of many small tracks apart from the main track.

Mushk Last Episode - Public Loved It

The story mainly revolved around Mehak (Momal Sheikh), Shayan (Osama Tahir), Guddi (Urwa Hocane), and Adam (Imran Ashraf). The casting of the drama was done much rightly, even the supporting cast performed so well inarguably. Whether it’s Zulekha (Zara Tareen), Roshni (Sehar Khan), Saqib (Raza Talish), Munna (Sami Khan), Dr. Rana (Raja Haider), Chotay Peer (Hassan Ahmed), or the villainous Muqaddar Khan (Aehsun Talish) entire cast literally nailed their characters. The drama was penned down beautifully by Imran Ashraf himself whereas, Aehsun Talish directed it and it was produced under the banner of MD Productions.

Today all the Mushk followers bidded farewell to their favorite drama. The drama serial Mushk ended on a high note. Chota Peer got arrested by police for his evil deeds. Mehak and Shayan have a happy ending so did Guddi and Adam. Mehak’s dada dies in the last episode without getting to know about Mehak’s secret marriage with Shayan. Muqaddar Khan, on the other hand, got paralyzed and had a miserable ending. Overall it was a nice episode and everything got wrapped up nicely. Tayi Zulakha’s mysterious exit from Chooty Peer’s house is the only unsolved mystery of drama serial Mushk but overall it was executed perfectly.

Mushk Episode 9 Story Review – Brilliant

Tonight’s episode of Mushk was fast-paced and excellently put together. All the characters got plenty of screen time and their tracks moved forward. There wasn’t a single scene that was out of place and all the conversations added something to the story. There were so many meaningful scenes that gave further insight into the characters. Most of the characters are well established by now but we are still getting to know Adam. This was perhaps the first episode that revealed so much about Adam’s personality without showing much of him. Imran Ashraf’s script continues to entertain and intrigue; I have a feeling that Mushk is going to be one of those dramas that get even more interesting as the story progresses. I absolutely loved Guddi’s scenes in this episode as well. This character has been etched-out brilliantly, her backstory explained her motives so well; it also explained her cleverness and lack of empathy. Akram’s track ended with this episode with Sohail Sameer leaving a lasting impression. His dialogues were also written so beautifully throughout. His track goes to show that all the tracks in the story have been written in detail and with a definite purpose in mind.

I must commend the camerawork in this episode and I appreciate the fact that all the actors get close shots, unlike many other dramas. Although Imran Ashraf has written the script, he has not given a lot of screen time to Adam. In fact, he has gone out of his way to make people fall in love, hate, or feel for all the other characters. Having said that, he makes his presence felt in every scene and his interactions with Guddi are the perfect mix of fire and ice!

Final Goodbyes

Akram’s exit from the story left the only two people who cared for him in a difficult situation. Both of them lost someone they loved yet they were not allowed to mourn his loss. Muqaddar Khan’s reaction was also interesting especially the way he reacted when he found out the news. For a few seconds, he was actually angry. I was waiting to see if he was going to show some remorse but there was none. At the same time, these scenes also suggested that he did not want Akram to die. Had he wanted him dead, he would have killed him before. His wife and Shayan’s reaction was the most emotional part of this track. This situation, like many other situations in this episode, showed two completely different sides of the picture. Although they were heartbroken, both of them had to continue pleasing the man who was responsible for causing them so much pain. Ahson Talish has been phenomenal in this role. His performance has been outstanding throughout.

Mushk Episode 9 Story Review – Brilliant

Shayan bid farewell to his friend who kept on motivating him even though he was suffering himself. Muqaddar’s wife broke those bangles which she had kept for all these years – this suggested that she held on to hope until she found out that Akram was dead.

Planning Ahead

It was interesting how Guddi and Zulekha both planned ahead but both of them had completely different motives. While Guddi was found collecting ‘evidence’ and doing her homework in order to ensure that she can execute her plan perfectly, Zulekha was in a rush to show everyone that she had things under control. Zulekha is turning out to be one of those people with inflated ego which gets hurt rather too quickly. She wasn’t too happy about the fact that Adam’s mother was coming with the proposal since she knew that this would work in Mehak’s favor. She was in a rush to get Roshni married before Mehak just to satisfy her ego! She is a full-grown woman who competes with others like a spoiled child. She is manipulative and evil but when it comes to intelligence, Guddi is way ahead of the game. I am surprised Zulekha’s impulsiveness never got her in trouble before.

Mushk Episode 9 Story Review – Brilliant

Guddi already has Roshni’s future decided which would lead to humiliating Zulekha in a way she never imagined. She also took the used injection from the trash and she will definitely find out soon what Zulekha has been up to. Although Guddi lacks empathy and she has a sadistic side as well but she is not evil the way Zulekha is. She is not the kind of person who would damage someone the way Zulekha is. The way Zulekha manipulated Roshni into marrying and couldn’t care less about what she was going through says a great deal about her character. Guddi’s scorning remarks towards Mehak and whatever she said to Adam once again showed that she lacked empathy altogether.

Mehak’s relationship with her son and the hope that she will meet Shayan someday showed an optimistic side of her personality. In the previous episode also she talked about how much faith she had in God. The way she consoled her son after Guddi said all those bitter things was heartwarming. Momal Sheikh acted so well tonight.

Guddi and Adam

I really liked Guddi and Adam’s second meeting tonight. It gave an insight into Adam’s character and his motives. Both of them are poles apart yet there is a spark between them. Guddi complimented Adam but only after belittling him. He is the only person she has ever complimented, which would mean that she likes him. Adam’s response to Guddi indicated that he was the kind of person who would help anyone out if they needed him. His mother’s dialogue also suggested that he had a heart of gold.

Mushk Episode 9 Story Review – Brilliant

Even though Adam is such a sensitive and caring person, he also knows how to have his own way. When Zulekha tried to stop him from going with Mehak in one of the previous episodes, he told her off and tonight he respectfully asked for more time instead of accepting the wedding plans instantly. I think this part of Adam’s personality sets him apart from many other caring and sensitive leading men of our dramas. Guddi is too loud therefore it would be surprising if no one hears her say all these things at some point. Urwa Hocane and Imran Ashraf’s on-screen chemistry coupled with their brilliant performances makes their scenes a treat to watch. I am genuinely pleased that they decided to work together.

Final Remarks

This was another well written and skillfully directed episode of Mushk with some outstanding performances. The preview of the next episode was equally enticing! Guddi will be executing her revenge plan in the upcoming episode and this would only be the beginning. There is so much to look forward to!

Mushk Episode 8 Story Review – Trials Continue

This was yet another episode of Mushk with some substantial developments but there were also some conversations that could have been chopped down. This episode laid the foundations for those crucial developments which will eventually change the course of the story. Mehak’s over-reliance and expectations from Adam showed another side of her personality. We know now that these two have been really close since childhood and their current interactions suggest that Adam is perhaps the only person Mehak can ask for a favor without putting in a lot of thought into it. Mehak’s attitude has been quite selfish but then she is in a desperate situation. The fact that Adam is in love with her makes the viewers perceive this track from a different angle altogether.

Guddi continued to work on her plan; this track is being handled convincingly since Roshni is not the kind of girl who would instantly rebel against her mother. There wasn’t a single interaction covering Guddi and Zulekha which was rather odd. Dada’s attitude towards Mehak continued to be the same, even though she swore on her dead parents, he still wanted her to do exactly what he wanted. Had he told her that he believed her but wanted her to marry Adam anyway, it would have been more convincing. Mehak would have married Adam had Dada requested her to do so. We finally know Shayan’s fellow captive’s name but it seems his track came to an end with this episode. Sohail Sameer acted impressively throughout and I was hoping that he would be in the picture till the end.

The Trials Continue

Every character in this drama is going through a different kind of conflicting situation. Adam is in love with Mehak and he is being tested repeatedly in the most painful manner possible. Mehak is suffering due to the decisions she made and how fate turned out against her. Roshni is going through a similar situation and Shayan too. Muqaddar Khan’s wife also lost in love and now that she knows what her husband did things are even harder for her. Tonight’s episode opened with Adam’s scene, he was still trying to wrap his head around Malik sahab’s proposal when Mehak asked him for yet another favor. Mehak has found out about Shayan’s whereabouts and she wants Adam to help her find him. Imran Ashraf and Moomal Sheikh both acted so well in all their scenes. The conversation they had at Adam’s house was beautifully penned down, it also went to show that Mehak was smart enough to know that getting married to Adam would prove to be a way out ultimately. This was the first heartfelt conversation these characters had in the drama and while Mehak consoled Adam, her suggestion made things even more difficult for him. Ultimately, Adam decided to do exactly what Mehak wanted him to.

Mushk Episode 8 Story Review – Trials Continue

Shayan tried to run away once again, it was highly naïve of him to think that Muqaddar Khan would be careless enough to leave him unsupervised. The exchange of dialogues between Shayan and the guard was rather long; this was one of those scenes which could have been chopped down. Although he was asked to be cautious and patient but Shayan is too eager to escape and at times he comes across as someone who is a little too simple.

Roshni’s mother continued playing mind games with her and Guddi is gradually trying to convince Roshni that her mother is not being honest with her. I was expecting this track to move forward quickly but I am glad that the writer is in no rush. Guddi isn’t like Shayan at all; she makes sure that all her plans are well executed. I missed watching Guddi interact with the rest of the characters, Urwa Hocane’s performance was superb as usual.

Mushk Episode 8 Story Review – Trials Continue

Akram’s character, it seems will perhaps exit from the story. I am glad the preview of the next episode did not give away a lot. We don’t know yet whether Guddi will be able to do what she is aiming for. Her conversation with Saqib suggested that although he gave in to his greed, he might do something outrageous to have Roshni back in his life. Guddi used the suicide story to persuade him in this first conversation which should be convincing enough for someone who wants Roshni to live. The writer is keeping the viewers guessing since we do not yet know much about Saqib or his feelings for Roshni.

Final Remarks

This episode was not as happening as some of the previous episodes of Mushk but there was enough substance in it to keep me interested and looking forward to more. Unlike all the previous episodes, a lot of side characters were missing from this one. I am waiting to watch how Adam and Mehak’s track is handled in the upcoming episodes. Also, Urwa Hocane and Imran Ashraf’s scenes are bound to be really interesting in the upcoming episodes.

Mushk Episode 7 Story Review – Beautifully Written

Watching one more episode of Mushk this week was nothing short of a treat. Tonight’s episode covered the aftermath of Roshni and Saqib’s meeting. Through these developments the writer indirectly made the viewers understand how Malik sahib would have reacted had he found out the truth about the baby and Mehak’s past. Guddi’s character is turning out to be truly refreshing in so many ways; she is the only one who can give Zulekha a taste of her own medicine. There are however some elements of her character which are not the least bit likable. Overall however, this drama wouldn’t have been the same without Guddi.

Even though Zulekha is extremely bitter and evil, Zara Tareen’s performance makes her scenes interesting. While I appreciate the fact that Imran Ashraf let other characters take the lead, I do feel that we are not getting to see enough of Adam. It was so important to show how Mehak’s shocking secret affected him but so far that bit has been left to the viewer’s imagination. Like every other episode of Mushk, this one too had some powerful dialogues to its credit. Guddi’s dialogues about a woman’s tears were remarkable. Roshni is another character which has different shades. Mushk’s characters and their journeys have a lot of substance. The fact that all the actors have performed their respective roles so well definitely adds to the appeal. Aehsun Talish’s direction pulls you completely into the narrative since every scene is short and precise.

Decisions Made Out of Fear & Greed

There were some really crucial decisions made in this episode for different reasons. The opening scenes of tonight’s episode covered Zulekha’s bold stance even though she was lying. Just like Guddi, she has clear goals and she does not care how her actions affect those around her. She wants to be in control even if that means leaving her daughter heartbroken. What I understood from this entire development was that dada was more scared than anything else. He was confused and after listening to what Zulekha had to say he was scared as well. Therefore the decision that he made was more out of fear of getting disgraced and dishonored more than anything else. He was the only person who went all out to support Mehak and was introduced as someone who had a lot of faith in her as well. It was therefore disappointing to watch him believing everything Zulekha told him and in turn treat Mehak the way he did. He handled the Guddi and Zulekha situation so intelligently in the previous episode but tonight he let his emotions take over completely. It was at the end of this episode that dada informed Adam about his decision. Adam will make this sacrifice and this might make things easier for Mehak as well since she is desperately in need of a savior.

Mushk Episode 7 Story Review – Beautifully Written

Saqib also made a decision but for completely different reasons. The conversation between him and Zulekha was written exceptionally well. It would have been even more exciting had the 15 lakh dialogue not been shown in the promo. He decided to do exactly what Zulekha wanted and proved that he indeed did not believe in following his heart. The scene showing Saqib lying down with all that money under the open sky was most unconvincing. However, this scene was written well since it suggested that he was reevaluating his decision and ultimately came to the conclusion that the money will help him forget Roshni!

Shayan already made the decision to marry in the previous episode. Tonight’s episode showed the emotional last day he spent in captivity. The bond these two prisoners share has been shown remarkably. After listening to his friend’s story, he wanted to do something for him too once he was free. His friend however repeatedly kept on telling him to not rush things and to be wise. Sohail Sameer’s character is turning out to be such a wise and warm addition to the play. Even though he is in such a difficult situation he does whatever he can to help Shayan. There is a comradeship between these two which makes you root for both of them equally. They feel each other’s pain and have formed a special bond in the most unusual circumstances. I must add that I loved Muqaddar Khan’s dialogues tonight; short but meaningful! It was time now to give Shayan a warm welcome only because he was finally going to do what he wanted him to. Aehsun Talish is brilliant in this role.

Guddi, Roshni and Zulekha

These three characters and their stories had my undivided attention tonight. Roshni is nothing like her mother, she has a conscience and she is also naïve. Guddi figured that out quickly and that was the reason why she decided that Roshni could help her get the revenge from her mother. Zulekha also knows her daughter well therefore she was on guard. She made sure that Roshni did not tell dada the truth. Once she had taken care of that, her guard was down and that is when Guddi decided to talk to Roshni. Guddi’s meeting with the doctor was also quite interesting. She is really clever and can immediately tell what someone is thinking. She can literally see through people, I find her intelligence likable but her sadistic side is equally unpleasant. The way she made Mehak realize what could happen if dada ever found out the truth about her once again showed that she doesn’t have an ounce of sympathy for her.

Mushk Episode 7 Story Review – Beautifully Written

Zulekha and the doctor’s meeting tonight too showed that these two were pure evil. Zulekha is the one making all the plans and the doctor is more than willing to help. His interest in Guddi however suggested that she might be able to manipulate him as well! These two women are equally clever, manipulative and selfish yet their scenes are always remarkable; beautifully written and brilliantly acted out.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode of Mushk took the story forward considerably and yet again left me with so many questions. Urwa Hocane’s outstanding performance makes Guddi a character which we won’t be forgetting for a long time. Imran Ashraf has etched-out all the characters so well; I am waiting to see more of him in the drama. Adam’s love will be tested in a way he never thought it could be tested. Once Shayan is out, there might be hope for his friend as well. There are endless possibilities since all these tracks can go in so many different directions. I am eagerly looking forward to the next episode.

Mushk Episode 6 Story Review – Secrets Revealed

This was another exciting episode of Mushk which revealed a great deal about the characters. Even though this drama has been on air for 6 weeks, there is still so much that we do not know. Imran Ashraf deserves due credit for penning down a script which is the perfect mix of mystery and drama. He has made sure that the viewers get some important information in every episode so that they do not get impatient or lose their interest. That was really intelligent of him, most of the writers stretch the mysteries so much that the viewers get agitated rather than getting excited!

Some of the characters are turning out to be more negative than I had anticipated. The story has the potential to be really dark but so far it is more entertaining than dark. While you absolutely hate Guddi for being so manipulative and selfish, this drama wouldn’t have been the same without her. Guddi continues to be an appealing character despite all her flaws. Urwa Hocane has been absolutely phenomenal in this role, I love her energy and understanding of the character she is playing. Adam once again took a backseat in this episode and he wasn’t shown crying over what had happened. His relationship with Mehak remains a mystery, we found out today that he belongs to an affluent family, has done law, and is working for Malik sahab. We don’t know yet whether there is a family connection or not. The story is unpredictable and convincing so far. Shayan’s fellow prisoner’s story was also revealed in this episode. Zulekha has a dirty secret of her own which makes this entire situation even more interesting especially considering the fact that Guddi wants to take revenge from her.

Guddi Decides To Stay

Last week’s episode ended on such a note that there was no way of telling what turn the story will take. Once Guddi was back home, I was wondering why will she ultimately stay back. The reason for her decision to stay made perfect sense. She is in dire need of money therefore she decided not to run away with the baby. That also proved that she is not as ‘evil’ as she was pretending to be. Later on, she decided she was not going to leave Mehak’s house until she got back at Zulekha. She clearly was willing to put up with much more.

Mushk Episode 6 Story Review - Secrets Revealed

Mehak is turning out to be a really meek character which actually in some ways makes sense too. Although she went ahead and entered into a nikkah with Shayan without her family’s consent, she does not have the guts to face the consequences. That is why she trusted a complete stranger and would allow Guddi to manipulate her in the future too. It isn’t fun watching her cry all the time but that is who she is! I have a feeling she and Adam will be forced into a marriage because of the recent developments. When dada actually believed tayee’s lie I was really disappointed but then Guddi said exactly what was going on in the viewers’ mind at that given moment. That is what intelligent writing is all about! That was the writer’s way of telling his viewers that he did think this one through as well! If you are thinking how could dada believe this lie then guess what that is what Guddi is thinking as well. Once again Guddi did not feel for Mehak at all, she was like a spectator enjoying what was going on! Guddi has this sadist side to her and if something does not affect her in any way, she doesn’t do anything to change the situation. She feels absolutely no connection with Mehak and all of this is nothing more than a business deal for her.

Adam’s scenes were not as intense as I was hoping for them to be since he has gone through so much in these past few hours. For now, all we know is that Adam fell in love with Mehak at a really young age and his love is unconditional. He somehow associates love with pain and therefore is more than willing to do whatever it takes to please Mehak. Imran Ashraf’s dialogue delivery and his overall look for this drama make you forget all the other characters he played recently. For the first time, I feel that this is not the same actor who played Bhola’s role.

More Secrets Revealed

Shayan’s fellow prisoner’s backstory was also revealed tonight. He was Muqaddar Khan’s best friend and his wife’s love interest. I am wondering why someone as vicious as Muqaddar Khan did not kill him because his presence could be a constant threat. He is not killing Shayan because he needs something from him but why isn’t he killing this man? I am sure there is a plausible explanation for this.

Zulekha is responsible for her husband’s deteriorating health. I wasn’t expecting her character to be this evil! She is having an affair with the doctor who is working on killing her husband gradually. She is a lot like Guddi as well, the only difference is that she has more power and wealth than Guddi. The way she covered up for Roshni went to show that she would do whatever it takes to achieve her ends. Roshni also took a really big risk and as it turned out Saqib is not as sincere with her as it seems to be the case.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode was just as entertaining and exciting as the previous few. Mushk has a different storyline, some superb performances, and quite a few unusual scenarios. The preview of the next episode was even more enticing!

Did you watch tonight’s episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

Mushk Episode 5 Story Review – Continues To Impress

Mushk continues to be a thoroughly entertaining play with the most appealing characters. Tonight’s episode belonged to Guddi and Adam, through this first meeting the writer intelligently revealed more about Guddi and even Adam! Their dialogues were really well written, they were meaningful and interesting. The multiple tracks in the story are interlinked, an aspect that makes all these tracks even more interesting. As the story is progressing, my fascination with the characters is growing. It is always refreshing watching a drama with grey characters with such intense internal struggles. I am so glad that Imran Ashraf did not play it safe while penning down these characters. The fact that all these characters are lead by their own desires more than anything else and are not seen ‘pleading their case’ makes them highly unpredictable as well as easy to connect to. The story flows smoothly because of this reason. Their backgrounds, flaws, vulnerabilities, and goals make these characters wholesome. Urwa Hocane’s outstanding performance makes her scenes an absolute treat to watch even though Guddi is clearly a manipulative con artist. Imran Ashraf has brought out the different shades of Adam’s character faultlessly on screen. I couldn’t help noticing the beautiful windy weather and the cloudy sky which set the perfect background for this unusual union between Guddi and Adam.

Latest Developments

Shayan’s sister was introduced in this episode and as it turns out, she has no clue that her brother is being held captive by the mamu she so adores! Even though Muqaddar Khan is ruthless, he does not use force where it is not needed. He showed affection towards his niece and she clearly trusts him a lot which basically shows that he proceeds in a tactful manner. He has allied with Shayan’s brother-in-law to put more pressure on him. The ‘politics’ within these families make their tracks even more interesting. There is always some surprise or the other in store.

Mushk Episode 5 Story Review - Continues To Impress

Guddi did not hold back while narrating her story to Adam perhaps because she wanted him to know that she was capable of doing whatever it took to get what she needed/wanted. I actually liked her unapologetic attitude until she made some remarks again which suggested that she was capable of being heartless as well. As was evident from the flashback scene in the previous episode, Guddi indeed had done much more than just stealing in order to meet the demands of her family. The way she analyzed Adam’s personality was really amusing. She was partially right as well, Adam is not as seedha as he seemed to be at first. He also tried to manipulate her into staying but Guddi, it seems, wants more now that she knows that Adam will do anything to get her back. One thing is for sure both of these characters have certain similarities already! They have strong nerves and are really focused, none of them was willing to give up but in the end, it seemed like Guddi was the one who would have the final word. I don’t remember the last time I enjoyed watching such a long first meeting so much. The transition of the scenes throughout made this episode more engaging.

Mushk Episode 5 Story Review - Continues To Impress

There were instances when it seemed like Guddi was flirting with Adam. Adam on the other hand was too caught up with the challenging task to even think about his own loss. This meeting and the changing moods of both these characters made this episode one which I will be watching once more. Mehak has been well established as someone who does not have the confidence to stand up for herself or even her child, she needs someone’s assistance to get her through. Her character isn’t the most appealing one but it makes perfect sense. Watching her blame herself for letting Guddi take away her child made her situation even more relatable. She is fully conscious of her weaknesses but she does not have the confidence to do what needs to be done in order to overcome these weaknesses. Imran Ashraf has made sure that just like all the other characters, Mehak’s frame of mind is also easy to understand.

Mushk Episode 5 Story Review - Continues To Impress

The way dada dealt with the situation was also refreshing! He proved his wisdom and took charge without causing any trouble. Qutbuddin’s dialogues were hilarious, his fixation with politics is amusing! It is rarely ever that every single character in a drama has this kind of presence. All of them add something to the story and have some role or the other to play.

Sohail Sameer’s character as it turned out was Muqaddar Khan’s wife’s love interest. I am waiting to find out more about him and also want to see how the wife reacts when she finds out that her husband is keeping him captive.

Final Remarks

Mushk is definitely a must-watch for all those viewers who enjoy watching unusual and appealing characters on screen. The story has a lot to offer and every episode gives you so much to look forward to. Every single scene in this episode added something to the story or revealed something about the characters. Most of the performances continue to impress. Apart from Urwa Hocane and Imran Ashraf, Zara Tareen’s performance stands out more than any other.

Mushk Episode 4 Story Review – Thoroughly Entertaining

This was another engaging episode of Mushk which ended too quickly! The story is getting more interesting with every passing episode. The best thing about this drama is that the writer is not in a rush to tell the story, he is taking his time and is making sure that he keeps on giving the viewers something to look forward to every week. There is some important development or the other in every episode and other than one or two scenes which might seem unnecessarily long, all the other scenes are short and precise. While penning down such a script, it is really important that the writer keeps on revealing some minute detail in every episode otherwise it is frustrating waiting for the story to unravel.

It can safely be stated that Imran Ashraf has managed to do just that. It seems like Mushk is the kind of drama that will be holding the interest of the viewers for a long time mainly because of its solid plot and characters. Tonight’s episode of Mushk was exciting and just like every week waiting another week to watch the next episode will be tough! The kidnapping scene seems was a bad dream and nothing more. Although I was looking forward to watching how the story will progress if Mehak’s child is kidnapped, I am glad that the story didn’t take such a dark turn this soon. It was really intelligent of the editing team to add this scene to the promo of this episode, they had me convinced completely!

Guddi’s Backstory

All of us have been waiting to find out more about Guddi’s backstory and a lot of what was shown tonight centered around her. Although there are still so many questions that remain unanswered, there were many which were answered in this episode. Most of us were wondering why Mehak could not recall Guddi’s name even though she had known her for a long time. Well, as it turns out, Mehak was foolish and desperate enough to trust a complete stranger with her secret. Mehak’s desperation made perfect sense and her story also suggested that her grandfather trusted her completely. If her visa had not expired, she could have stayed on longer but had to eventually come back home. This scene in which Mehak told Adam her story was slightly stretched especially considering the circumstances.

Mushk Episode 4 Story Review - Thoroughly Entertaining

Guddi was hiding from the police when she met Mehak which makes her story even more interesting. For the first time Guddi’s character came across as shady, something that added to my excitement but this was the first time that I felt she could have done something extreme and would do it again to get the money her mother is so desperately in need of. She always came across as selfish and reckless but her conversations with her mother suggested that Guddi was not doing any of this for herself. You would think that someone like Guddi will probably never go the extra mile to help anyone out but that is not the case. At the same time, while interacting with Mehak in the past and even tonight she came across as extremely insensitive, to say the least. She has not been answering Mehak’s calls ever since she was thrown out of the haveli and was actually amused to hear her message. Urwa Hocane’s portrayal has been faultless as well which definitely adds to the appeal this character has. Even though Guddi has quite a few traits which are not the least bit likable, I find myself looking forward to her scenes.

Adam Finds Out The Truth

We had seen a very gentle side of Adam’s character till now but tonight his interaction with Zulekha showed that he was completely capable of putting his foot down if needed. He was shocked and of course upset when he found out the truth but at the same time, he was practical and willing to help. Mehak has a strong ally by her side now even though it will be tormenting for Adam to give her the kind of support she needs. Adam’s prayers have been heard but not in the way he would have wanted. Mehak needs him but in a completely different manner. Imran Ashraf completely owns his character, he has definitely worked on his dialogue delivery in order to ensure that Adam’s way of talking is different from all the other characters played by him. While he has been really convincing as the die-hard romantic, he was equally convincing tonight as the man who wouldn’t allow anyone to stand in his way. Just like all the other characters in the story, Adam also has different shades to his personality. Even though Adam is a likable person so far, we don’t know enough about his character even now.

Mushk Episode 4 Story Review - Thoroughly Entertaining

The opening scene of this episode revealed the identity of the girl who was caught by the police. The reaction of the police officer came as a pleasant surprise since this was a good way of showing the kind of respect Malik Noor-ud-Din had earned over the years.

Mushk Episode 4 Story Review - Thoroughly Entertaining

Final Remarks

Mushk continues to intrigue, engage, and excite. I am waiting to find out how this revelation actually affects Adam since in this episode we were not shown how he felt since he was completely focused on helping Mehak. It is good to see a man being hopelessly and unconditionally in love with a woman. I am definitely looking forward to finding out how this love story is taken forward in the upcoming weeks. All the tracks in the story are equally interesting since every character has a solid backstory which gives these characters a definite personality. Mushk has the perfect pace and storyline, it also has some really impressive performances to its credit.

Mushk Episode 3 Story Review – Thrilling & Intriguing

Mushk is turning out to be an entertaining drama that has a little bit of everything; mystery, romance, and even comedy. Mushk gives you old PTV dramas’ feel because some of the tracks in it and even the treatment given to it is somewhat the same. The story is being revealed gradually, there are multiple tracks, and watching every episode is like reading one chapter of a novel and waiting an entire week to read the next one! One of the main reasons why I waited 3 weeks to review this drama was that the mystery was too much to handle and I needed a little more information in order to be more ‘comfortable’ with the story.

Tonight’s episode had to be the most thrilling and exciting one so far since there was a major development in the story. This was the kind of episode that keeps you on the edge and leaves you looking forward to more. Imran Ashraf’s overall look for this drama is different and even though he has written the script, Adam, his character, has not been the center of attention. He however leaves his mark every time he makes an appearance. Guddi and Adam’s characters have been the most appealing ones so far. Urwa Hocane played her role in Punjab Nahi Jaungi so well, Guddi’s character reminds me of Durdana. I loved Urwa Hocane in the role therefore it is definitely pleasing watching her play such a character in a drama as well. Surely there is more to Guddi than what meets the eyes, I am waiting to find out more about her backstory and the reason why she was willing to strike this deal with Mehak.

Latest Developments

Tonight’s episode opened with revealing how Shayan (Osama Tahir) ended up being his mamu’s prisoner. Muqaddar Khan’s (Aehsun Talish) ruthless nature was established through that one scene in the previous episode which pretty much summed up what this man was capable of doing if things did not go his way. This opening scene was quite meaningful and it gave a lot of information about the characters involved. Tonight, it almost seemed like Muqaddar Khan knew that Shayan was already married but he did not want to hear about it. Shayan’s shocking reaction clearly showed that he was completely unaware of the fact that his mamu was capable of doing something like this. The fact that Shayan stood his ground back then and did not give up even when he was imprisoned shows that he has a strong personality. Osama Tahir and Aehsun Talish both performed exceptionally well in this opening scene. I am actually glad that after Dar Si Jati Hei Sila we are getting to watch Osama Tahir in a meaty role.

Mushk Episode 3 Story Review - Thrilling & Intriguing

Adam and his sister’s scenes have been the lighter side of the drama. Adam seems to be living a rather simple life. He is a hopeless romantic who is head over heels in love with Mehak and he has a friend in his sister, someone who understands his feelings and looks out for him. This hero is quite similar to the romantic male leads penned down by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. You feel an instant connection to this character even though he doesn’t get a lot of screen time, his scenes are meaningful.

Hassan Ahmed’s character’s backstory was revealed tonight as well. His wife Zulekha (Zara Tareen) is a fierce woman but we found out today that she wasn’t always like this. Zara Tareen’s performed impressively in this episode. Right from the beginning, the taye had a definite screen presence and now we know why! She ended up being the reason why Guddi was thrown out of the house. Guddi and taye’s scene was the highlight of this episode, well written and executed. I must say that I was rooting for Guddi but whatever happened made perfect sense! I am glad Imran Ashraf has not held back while showing what such powerful people are capable of doing and that they leave no stone unturned while letting others know where they stand. Mehak has been shown as a rather meek character right from the beginning therefore it made perfect sense that she did not go after Guddi.

The fact that Guddi actually left with the baby and there was nothing Mehak could do about it showed that we will continue watching more unexpected twists and turns in the upcoming weeks. The preview of the next episode was seriously disturbing, will Mehak’s baby be kidnapped? I am sure I am not the only one who wants to find out more about the Sehar Khan and Raza Talish’s track.

Mushk Episode 3 Story Review - Thrilling & Intriguing

I absolutely love Sami Khan’s energy and his confidence, he never goes overboard and is superb in every single scene. After watching the first episode, I did get ‘DJ’ vibes from his character but as the story is progressing it is also turning out to be another interesting character.

Final Remarks

This is the first time that I am watching a drama written by Imran Ashraf and there are times when I feel that his writing style is somewhat like Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s. The dialogues have often been detailed and verbose, he also seems to have his own ‘philosophy’ regarding romance, which he wants to share with his viewers. He is also not afraid to experiment which is always a good sign!

As far as the basic storyline and characterizations are concerned, I feel that Imran Ashraf as a writer has added a lot of meaning and detailing which makes Mushk a drama that promises to be a journey worth looking forward to. He seems to be enjoying playing Adam’s character, who would understand it better than the person who wrote it! I am waiting to see how Adam reacts when he finds out Mehak’s secret if he finds it out! I must say that the promos of the upcoming episodes have been put together well since they are often misleading and you don’t know what to expect.

Mushk Episode 25 Story Review – Fast-Paced

This second last episode of Mushk was fast-paced, action-packed, and quite filmi. The good thing is that the drama is headed towards a happy ending and it is going to be one of those few dramas which end without unnecessary dragging. Whether this ending will be convincing or not is a completely different debate. I must say though that I feel a really strong connection with all the characters at this point since their journeys were covered in detail and quite impressively throughout therefore even though some of the developments tonight were somewhat laughable, it was definitely pleasing watching Mehak and Shayyan in the same frame. I honestly never thought that I would actually be rooting for these two because both of them were the weakest characters in the drama but after watching them suffer for so long, it was good to see them together. Dr. Rana, Zulekha, and Muqaddar Khan’s track ended in the previous episode which was an intelligent move by the writer since now the focus can be entirely on the leading couples. Roshni and Saqib’s track was also wrapped up tonight. Adam once again saved the day in more ways than one and this recent development made him realize more than ever how much Guddi meant to him. Muna also played a significant role in this episode.

The Reunion and Realizations

Tonight’s episode opened with Saqib and Roshni saying their final goodbyes or perhaps this would be a new beginning for them as well. Saqib apologized for betraying Roshni and she got a chance to stay everything that was weighing on her mind for the longest time. Sehar Khan’s performance in this scene was impressive and Raza Talish has always been convincing as a young boy who has a disturbing past. This reunion was not too pleasant but this could either be the closure Roshni needed or she might give Saqib another chance.

Mushk Episode 25 Story Review – Fast-Paced

Chota Malik decided to enter into a nikkah with Guddi and it was good watching her take a stand the way a woman like her would. The way Adam saved the day was not the least bit convincing, it would have been so much better if these action scenes were executed more convincingly. All it took was a push for Chota Malik to be unconscious. This was an important development since had Guddi not been in such a condition; Adam wouldn’t have realized what she meant to him. This was a powerful start to the next phase of their relationship and for a second last episode. I am looking forward to their union. The place where Guddi was kept by the Chota Malik had the strangest wall, isn’t cow dung supposed to be outside and not inside and that on a board?! Imran Ashraf did talk about the limitations while shooting these last few scenes due to COVID therefore I am guessing that they had to make the most of the locations they had.

Apart from Guddi and Adam’s track, Mehak and Shayyan’s track for a change was the highlight of this episode. Momal Sheikh acted brilliantly tonight and the impactful dialogues added to the intensity of these scenes. Mehak wanted to believe Shayyan but she was also scared because she did not want to put herself in a situation again where she would end up with heartbreak. However, when Shayyan mentioned that Adam would testify for him since he knew everything that had happened to him, Mehak was instantly convinced. I liked how Muna was kept in the picture right till the end since he has always been so close to Mehak. His bond with Shahmir has also always been such an important part of this entire track. It did feel odd though that they managed to have this meeting inside the haveli since surely they must have guards and dada is completely missing in action. Even with all these questions popping in my mind while I was watching this scene, I was genuinely happy for Mehak and Shayyan.

Final Remarks

Mushk has stayed true to its main theme and it has always given me something to look forward to every week. Even though the preview of the next episode revealed the end of the Chota Malik entirely, Guddi and Adam’s track it seems will stay intriguing right till the end. I was looking forward to watching how Malik’s track will end but the preview did not leave a lot to wonder about! Guddi will go back to her mother and once again Adam will be going after her. I feel for Adam, he has been running after someone or the other for the longest time now, he deserves a happy ending more than anyone else. Even though this second last episode wasn’t too convincing, the fast pace and the reunions made it worthwhile.

Mushk Episode 24 Story Review – What’s Next

This was another action-packed episode of Mushk which yet again left me with a lot of questions. Mushk is headed towards a ‘happy ending’ it seems. Adam has successfully managed to save every single character in the drama by now. The drama continues to be intriguing but some of the developments in this episode were not too convincing. The way Adam rescued Shayan was somewhat far-fetched and it wasn’t executed convincingly as well. Instead of worrying about her mother, Roshni was shown thinking about Saqib. The timeline was also confusing in this episode because when Adam’s mother was talking to Guddi she said that she had seen them together last night. As if Mehak’s character wasn’t selfish and annoying enough, watching her sleep soundly while Adam put his life on the line for her was precious! I am glad Adam’s mother pointed out Mehak’s selfishness while she assured Guddi that she was going to support her.

Adam’s entire family has a really positive vibe which definitely helps the viewers relate to Adam’s kindness and integrity even more. Any man who has been raised in such an environment is bound to be this protective and caring of the people he loves. Having said that, I hope that Adam will not be the one to rescue Guddi as well, since that would be a little too much rescuing for one character. Guddi is perfectly capable of rescuing herself and even killing the Chota Chaudhry perhaps! The rest of the tracks will possibly have happy endings; I am waiting to watch how Chauhdry’s track is wrapped up since he is all over the place at the moment.

Important Developments

There were quite a few important developments in this episode starting from the opening scene. Dr. Rana’s exit from the story was actually quite interesting. Even though he knew he was going to die, he made sure that the Chaudhry had enough on his mind to keep him awake at night! He knew that Zulekha had run away therefore Chaudhry could not harm her now. I am glad that the writer did not give this character an opportunity to redeem itself. Dr. Rana’s character definitely had more of an impact due to Raja Haider’s brilliant performance throughout. He was a twisted character who got the kind of ending he deserved. It was however surprising to see him trusting Chaudhry when he said he wanted to thank him but at the same time he was rather amused when he saw the syringe – this was the perfect example of poetic justice. I am wondering if there will be some of that for the Chaudhry as well!

Mushk Episode 24 Story Review – What’s Next

Shayan’s rescue mission did not work for me at all. I am glad that he is finally out and this track has moved on but this particular development was perhaps the weakest link of this latest episode. Muqaddar Khan allowed Shayan to meet his guest unsupervised, not only this; he gave him enough time to narrate the entire story to Adam. Later on, Adam single-handedly knocked all the guards down and in the end, Muqaddar Khan had an attack of paralysis, which was somewhat predictable owing to the buddua in one of the previous episodes. Muqaddar Khan’s condition however made sense since he always held his daughter so near and was constantly worrying about her. Watching Shayan divorce her right in front of his eyes broke him completely. I must say however that Shayan did not do the poor child a favor by giving this verbal divorce, this scene was quite disturbing since there could have been better ways to ask for forgiveness and giving the divorce. Osama Tahir is a phenomenal actor otherwise but his performance tonight left a lot to be desired. The flashback scenes while Shayan was telling Adam his story were too elaborate as well.

Mushk Episode 24 Story Review – What’s Next

The Chota Chaudhry used Muna to get to Guddi and she did not suspect him for a second. This particular development was handled intelligently and convincingly. After that conversation with Adam’s mother, Guddi knows that she has her support and might have a future with Adam which gives her more of a reason to fight for herself. Roshni and Guddi had their first real conversation tonight and it revolved around Saqib for some odd reason since right now her mother’s disappearance should have been the only thing on her mind!

Final Remarks

Even though this wasn’t the best episode of Mushk since some of the developments did not make a lot of sense, it definitely gave me a reason to tune into the next episode of the drama. I am wondering how Guddi will manage to escape. What will be Chaudhry’s ending? Most importantly once Shayan is back, how will Mehak explain everything to dada?

Mushk Episode 23 Story Review – Revenge and Regrets

Tonight’s episode of Mushk was thrilling for the most part. However, some of the scenes were extended unnecessarily. The best thing about Mushk is that every single episode so far had at least one important development to its credit. In this episode as well there was a great deal of development in the story and for once the romantic tracks took a backseat. The gradual character development is one of the biggest strengths of Mushk. Guddi did everything in her power to do damage control and once again Adam tried his best to be the savior. Guddi and Roshni interacted for the first time ever since Roshni returned. Chota chaudhry let his father in on the secret so he could easily go ahead with his revenge plan. The most important development tonight was Shayyan and Adam’s meeting. Hassan Ahmed’s performance has been phenomenal, he is actually quite scary and you know anything can be expected from this man. Imran Ashraf’s strong grip on the screenplay and attention to detail yet again stood out in this episode.

Guddi and Adam In Action

Guddi realized tonight more than ever that she had unleashed a monster. Even though she wanted to see Zulekha suffer, she does not want blood on her hands. That was the reason why she tried her best to ‘save’ Zulekha. This scene however was stretched perhaps because the writer wanted us to wait before letting us know whether Zulekha was alive or not. Guddi has some really strong positive traits. She refused to tell Roshni the truth and even with all the hatred she feels for Zulekha, she couldn’t just sit back and watch her die. She turned to Adam for help and he complied as usual. Dr. Rana however was more than willing to accept whatever was coming his way. I am waiting to find out why he is so comfortable with this face-off with chota Chaudhry. Like every other character in this drama, Dr. Rana also has an element of intrigue about him since right now it is rather difficult to figure out what he is thinking.

Mushk Episode 23 Story Review – Revenge and Regrets

Adam also finally met Shayyan in this episode and already found out about his wedding to her little cousin. This meeting was intelligently shortened so that the viewers have yet another reason to look forward to the upcoming episode.

Chota Chaudhry Wants Revenge

Chota Chaudhry went on a revenge spree tonight after letting his father know what Zulekha was planning to do. His plan to kill Zulekha completely failed since she managed to run away. Guddi was the one who provided him with all the information and helped him get on his feet and tonight she was the one who could have been the biggest hurdle in his way. He is in love with Guddi and hearing that she is in love with someone else did not make him angry at all. He was willing to do whatever it would take to ‘fix’ the situation. There are times when you feel that Zulekha was perhaps doing everyone a favor by killing him! He kept on blaming his wife but never thought he was also cheating on his wife and made her life hell. He is a really twisted character, perhaps the only character with a dark side and hardly any positive traits. The fact that his wife cheated on him and tried to kill him does not justify his actions.

Mushk Episode 23 Story Review – Revenge and Regrets

I am waiting to find out how his ‘meeting’ with the doctor ends since Chaudhry can also be unpredictable at times. Why would he sit down and have tea with the person who tried to kill him? Perhaps because he is the same person who ended up saving his life! This was an interesting situation that was quite a lot like Khalil-ur-Rehman’s style of writing.

Muqaddar Khan’s Guilt & Regret

The change in Muqaddar Khan’s character and the focus on the effect this wedding had on him because his daughter was constantly suffering has been covered in such a manner that the viewers have a reason to expect the unexpected from him. Just when I thought that he was getting weak, he took control when he found out that someone had come to visit Shayyan. The reason why he married Masooma to Shayyan was revealed in detail tonight. We were also shown that the fake peer gave him this advice and since he trusts him so much, he went ahead with it. He did not expect Shayyan to act the way he is acting and somehow he never even realized how it would affect his daughter. Aehsun Talish is such a remarkable actor; he performed exceptionally well tonight in all the scenes. The way he ‘threatened’ Adam by telling him about his mehman nawazi was brilliant! In such a subtle manner he made sure Adam knew that he was the one in control. I wonder why we were shown that Muqaddar Khan’s closest employee was listening to his conversation with Shayyan’s brother-in-law.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode belonged to Hassan Ahmed, Imran Ashraf, and Raja Haider. Their performances and the situations they were in were outstanding throughout. Mushk is headed towards an unpredictable and exciting finale! I am waiting to find out how the writer wraps up the story.

Mushk Episode 22 Story Review – Interesting

Tonight’s episode of Mushk was Romance/thriller/mystery all mixed in one, it ended too soon and I must admit that even with so much going on, I am most interested in the love triangle more than anything else right now. There were quite a few meaningful scenes and situations in this latest episode. Yet again, the writer highlighted another social issue by showing the fake peer’s conversation with his wife in a way that was rather amusing. There was finally some character development in Shayan and Mehak’s track. Dada also made an appearance in this episode. I am also waiting to watch how chota Chaudhry’s track is wrapped up.

My favorite conversation tonight was the one between Adam and his mother. Guddi’s willingness to ‘gift’ the only man she had ever loved unconditionally over to Mehak showed that she had learned to give without questioning from Adam! Guddi’s track has been penned down brilliantly since the writer chose to be an advocate for a flawed person and he managed to make the viewers fall in love with her. I think the fact that most of us find ourselves rooting for Guddi even with all her flaws makes Imran Ashraf’s character exceptional and Urwa Hocane’s performance simply unforgettable.

Adam’s Confusion

There was a time when all Adam wanted was to spend the rest of his life with Mehak and now that he has that opportunity, he is not sure what he should do. For once Adam needed time to answer Mehak’s question and although he offered her his ‘jaan’, he wasn’t sure if he could make the commitment she wanted. Adam has fallen for Guddi and I must say that this particular track has been carried forward in the most convincing manner. Just when Adam thought he could allow himself to fall in love with someone else, Mehak asked him for a favor which made things really difficult for him once again. This is the kind of conflict that piques the interest of the viewers especially at a point when the story is headed towards its ending. Mehak has always asked Adam for the biggest favors as if he owes it to her. Their childhood scenes shown in some of the previous episodes helped me understand why she feels so comfortable asking him for so much. Adam did not want Mehak to go ahead with the divorce and he was sane enough to question her about her reaction when she witnessed Shayan’s nikkah. This is yet another thing to look forward to; Adam getting in touch with Shayan to ask him the question which Mehak never asked him.

Adam needed some time and clarity to answer Mehak therefore he decided to make up an excuse. The conversation he had with his mother showed that she knew that he will perhaps be happier with Guddi since right now it seems as if getting married to Mehak will just be a way to support her and make her happy. Adam was more than willing to put Mehak’s happiness before his own before but now perhaps he is thinking about how it would impact Guddi as well. Since he is someone who cannot let people who have expectations from him down, it was easy to understand his state of mind. Imran Ashraf’s performance tonight translated all the different phases Adam went through perfectly.

Mushk Episode 22 Story Review – Interesting

Guddi’s Character Development

Guddi has taken her revenge and since the last two episodes, she was completely focused on Adam. However, when she heard Mehak asking Adam for that favor, she was sure that Adam will never say no to her. That is why she congratulated her beforehand and for once Guddi was willing to give something up without fighting! She also accepted Adam’s ‘apology’ in advance. Guddi finds Chaudhry’s advances off-putting and she does not feel scared telling him off. She has not once reconsidered her decision to unleash this monster; I would have liked to know what Guddi is thinking right now. I was also hoping that she would at least have one conversation with Roshni and perhaps find out that she unknowingly put her in such a difficult situation. Urwa Hocane deserves due credit for translating her character effectively and effortlessly on screen throughout.

Chaudhry and Zulekha

Zulekha has turned into a lost cause at the moment; it seems that her character will be killed off. Chota Chaudhry has two different sides to his personality, when he is with Zulekha and her brother he is a completely different person. I am wondering how he will eventually be punished. I cannot praise Hassan Ahmed enough for making his character look extremely terrifying on screen. While watching his scenes, it is easy to understand why Zulekha is so scared.

Roshni’s Track

Roshni’s track was impactful in the episodes covering her running away from home and rescue; right now however her track has completely been relegated to the background. One of the previous episodes also hinted that Roshni might be falling for Adam, that aspect of this track has also not been taken forward. I am glad that the focus is on the main tracks but I would like to see more of Roshni as well since she has been such an important part of the story throughout. Roshni’s dialogue when she heard the drum beating outside showed just how scared she still was after everything had happened. This was perhaps also a hint for the viewers regarding what can be expected in the upcoming episodes. There wasn’t a single scene covering Roshni’s reunion with her father, it seemed as if she was also not happy to know that he was well now.

Shayan Remains Undeterred

Quite unexpectedly Shayan used the marriage to put pressure on Muqaddar Khan in a way we couldn’t have imagined two weeks back! He is fierce now, like a man who has nothing to lose. It seems as if after the forced nikkah he feels that nothing worse can happen now and he has a bargaining chip as well. Muqaddar Khan turned to his peer for advice since he was the one who suggested that in order to keep the family inheritance, marrying off his young daughter to Shayan would be the ‘safest’ bet. Muqaddar Khan did not see this coming at all for obvious reasons. This makes me wonder if killing Shayan off and getting the property papers signed by his sister would have been an easier way out for Muqaddar Khan. He would have thought it through if he didn’t rely on the peer so much. It was definitely good watching Shayan stand up for himself for a change!

Mushk Episode 22 Story Review – Interesting

Final Remarks

Mushk has always left me with so many questions and this episode was the same. We are headed towards a happy ending it seems since there is a chance that Mehak and Shayan might end up together once Adam steps in and talks to Shayan. Guddi and Adam are meant to be together therefore I am looking forward to their union more than anything else. What does the future hold for chota Chaudhry and Roshni? I am waiting to find out.
