Finally an emotional episode of Sabaat which was not perfect but it was engaging throughout. Muhammad Ahmed, Mawra Hocane and Seemi Raheal nailed their respective performances. Muhammad Ahmed is such a gem, no other actor emotes the way he does. He makes you feel his pain and love almost effortlessly. The on-screen chemistry he shared with Mawra Hocane throughout made this father-daughter duo the best we have seen on our television screens this year. Although, his character has passed away in so many dramas, everytime he makes an exit it is equally powerful and emotional. Perhaps that is the reason why after Durr-e-Shehwar, there have been barely any dramas in which his character got a happy ending. His dialogue delivery and the treatment given to the characters he plays is always so outstanding that even if he exits the play early on, he leaves a lasting impression. It won’t be wrong to say that it was due to his performance that Anaya’s relationship with her father dominated all the other relationships in Sabaat. This makes me wonder if watching Sabaat would have been a different experience all together if all the characters were given a different treatment. Adding some warmth to relationships and even some emotional moments can change so much.
The scenes in the second part of the episode were confusing since the transition from one scene to the other was rather abrupt. These scenes reminded me of the few scenes from the first episode. All of a sudden the director rushed everything when there was room for adding some detail there.
Harris Caught ‘Red-Handed’
While all of us could tell that Harris’ grand plan would not work out, he was utterly surprised by Miraal’s reaction. We have all repeatedly talked about how ‘blind’ Harris’ love for Miraal is and how he cannot predict her reactions. He comes across as those submissive wives in Pakistani dramas who are constantly under pressure and cannot think straight. All these character traits do not go well with his ‘credentials’. A psychiatrist can have problems in his life too but he most certainly would be a better judge of toxicity in relationships. It actually made me laugh how Miraal caught him ‘red handed’! The way she walked out of his room was even funnier, like she was superwoman. The treatment given to Miraal’s character has been worst than the way this character has been written.
Miraal’s reaction however made perfect sense. Her ego was hurt and while she has no moral compass herself she expects everyone else to be perfect! For a change her friend tried to make her understand the situation but she couldn’t do much to change her point of view. Miraal and Harris’ track continues to be the most absurd part of the drama. It provided some comic relief today since Anaya’s track was extremely upsetting.
The Only Sane Person
Hassan’s mother continues to be the only sane person in the family who has fear of God and some sense. It was good watching her trying to knock some sense into her son. Whatever she said made sense and hopefully the story will turn in that direction at some point. So far, most of such dialogues have fallen flat because all of us hoped that they would have some deeper meaning but they turned out to be totally meaningless. There were a few good dialogues in this episode but like I said most of them were merely words which did not have a profound effect. Laila Zuberi acted really well tonight, the fear was quite apparent on her face. The sad part is that no one listens to her.
Anaya Loses Her Best Friend
Anaya’s father was her best friend, the only person who loved her unconditionally. The last few scenes of Anaya with her father were so poignant and beautiful. Anaya felt lost because she was not used to dealing with something so huge all on her own. She had to deal with that and then there was unbearable pain of knowing that she might lose her father at any given moment. The ambulance scene wasn’t covered properly since Anaya was asking her father to get up and go to the ambulance! The director has definitely not done his job right especially when it comes to covering such minor details. If it wasn’t for the remarkable acting by the actors involved, this scene could have been completely void of emotions due to such execution errors. This was one of my favorite scenes tonight:
The patients in our dramas need to stop taking off their masks and saying their final goodbyes. I give Muhammad Ahmed tons of credit for pulling this scene off in the most dignified manner possible but our writers need to stop writing such scenes. An oxygen mask is there for a reason, a patient cannot breathe without it, when you cannot breathe you cannot talk! As someone who has gone through a similar experience, I would like to request all the writers to stop writing such scenes altogether because they are beyond ridiculous and highly insensitive.
The Questions
So Atif somehow found out that Anaya’s father passed away. This scene was highly predictable since Atif somehow knows everything that happens in Anaya’s life but we can only wonder how he found out about her father’s death! Even if someone from the university informed him, howcome they did not inform Hassan since they were class fellows? If the writer wanted to show just how evil Miraal was, he should have shown how Atif found this out and why didn’t Hassan know. Hassan seems to be living under a rock ever since he left his home and came back. He looks at the world from Atif’s eyes, which is quite lame considering the fact that he used to be an intelligent and opinionated young man. Atif’s “har khabar par nazar’ reporting style is getting more annoying with every passing episode.
Final Remarks
Anaya and her parents’ scenes were the highlight of this episode yet again. The writer and the actors did complete justice to this particular track. Apart from Hassan’s mother, all the other characters seem to be a lost cause at the moment. I am extremely disappointed with the director since the last few scenes were so rushed and haphazard. However, for a change, I am actually looking forward to the next episode.
While I absolutely dislike Miraal, I am finding it really difficult to feel for Harris. He is a meesna and a bonga who simply should have known better. Ali had more common sense than him because when he saw the red flags he ran away as fast as he could. This ‘psychiatrist’ did not only marry a narcissist but also suggested that having children would make their life easier and then lied like an immature young boy. Seems like this track is going to go further down in the upcoming weeks.

But the best thing about this series that makes it a stand out one is that all the characters in this series are of equal importance. That is the reason that if you name any character from the season anyone who have followed the series will tell you the complete story of that character and also its role in the evolvement of the story.

One can’t forget the horrible PIA plane crash on September 26, 2020, which took the lives of many people. However, luckily two people survived and one of them was Zafar Masud.
Zafar Masud is the CEO of Bank of Punjab who survived the plane crash. After surviving the plane crash, he developed a fear of travelling but he has come up with a solution to overcome his fear.
He announced that he will be travelling in PIA again and wrote, “Looking forward to flying again tomorrow for the first time post my air crash with @Official_PIA, our national asset. We must support it and work towards it’s revival and improvement. I wish to support it all out for it’s restructuring. Hope to see it regaining it’s former glory. This is important for faith and confidence of people in our own asset but also for my own self, to overcome the fear of travel, and that also on the same airline that I had suffered the accident. The first few scenes of Mushk prepared the viewers for the journey by incorporating an element of spirituality in the theme. Gratitude is all about valuing every little thing and through this scene the viewers learn the importance of gratitude from someone who appears to be a layman but has so much wisdom to impart. Qadar karo is a message that would resonate with all those who are grateful and also those who are not!
Having Faith in Allah
There are so many Pakistani dramas which showed attempted suicides by the leading ladies and men. It is a trend that is getting more common in our dramas with every passing day. No one in these dramas ever talks about suicide from a religious perspective. There is no such hint even in most of these dramas. In this scene when Mehak was narrating her sad story to Guddi, the timing of the Azaan and the reason why Mehak did not take her life made this scene one of the best. For the first time someone actually in a subtle way put forward the message that having faith in Allah’s plan and relying on him is always better than taking things in your own hands.
The Unusual yet Emotional Bond
The strong bond between Shayan and the person he is being held captive with was highlighted impeccably through this scene. When Shayan returns to the cell after getting caught while trying to escape, his fellow captive’s true feelings were reflected through these soulful dialogues. Through this scene more than ever before, the viewers found out how these two prisoners had come close to each other in the most unusual circumstances. When Shayan ran away it wasn’t just a happy moment for him but also for this person who had nothing to gain from it. Such friendship is rarely seen in dramas therefore this emotional bond is one of the many best aspects of Mushk.
Beautiful Thoughts
When Guddi was kicked out of the haveli by Zulekha, she went to the train station long before the train was there. That is when she met the porter and once again through this old man, the writer gave another important message to his viewers. He said something really simple while extending help to Guddi but this simple gesture was also so meaningful. Through his words he once again put across the most beautiful message that even when we help another person we should be thankful for being the chosen ones. These are such small things which usually are not mentioned in simple conversations but when they are said, they leave a lasting impression. These are definitely the kind of dialogues which make you reflect upon the simple everyday actions and help you look at them from a completely different perspective.
Guddi and Adam’s First Meeting
A lot of screen time was dedicated to this first meeting therefore it had so many moments and dialogues which were simply the best. Through this scene, the writer revealed different personality traits of both these characters. The dialogues were crisp and meaningful. Imran Ashraf and Urwa Hocane’s mind-blowing performances and the artistic backdrop added to the beauty of these scenes. It won’t be wrong to say that there wasn’t a single dull moment when these two leading characters met, it was worth the wait!
The Power of Gratitude
This was another scene in which Qavi sahib’s character explained gratitude and how much Allah loves it in this simple scene. His excitement and energy is contagious in every scene. Although he is a side character but every time he appears on screen he leaves an unforgettable message. This is a man who does not take anything for granted, not even everyday thing like the arrival of passengers and train on the station.
Mehak’s Union with Her Son
This was a really short scene but the events that led to it made it the best. Momal Sheikh and Urwa Hocane’s acting made it realistic and impactful as well. The viewers had no way of knowing whether Mehak would meet her son again or not therefore this union was a happy ending to a tragic turn in the story. Guddi’s expressions suggested she was still as stubborn and uninterested as ever. Mehak’s eagerness to hold her son and cuddle him made this scene the best.
A Painful Discovery
Every character in drama serial Mushk has a proper background and each one of them have stories of their own. Muqaddar Khan’s wife found out about her husband’s captives totally unexpectedly. Little did she know that her husband had lied to get married to her. Watching the man she had loved so deeply suffer because he loved her was a painful discovery. Instead of making this revelation one sided, the writer showed that both of them figured out what Muqaddar Khan had done instantly. This scene was directed exceptionally well, the camerawork was impressive and the performances too were perfect.
Guddi Decides To Stay
Zulekha gave Guddi the permission to come back to the haveli so that she could make her life hell but in an interesting twist of events, it was Guddi who decided she won’t leave until she destroys Zulekha completely. This was an important development which was covered so convincingly. This was also good news for all the viewers who wanted Guddi to stay in the picture for long.
Guddi Puts Her Plan into Action
When Roshni feels completely dejected because Saqib has disappeared after getting caught, Guddi decides to step in. The way she entered the room and completely took over was simply mind-blowing. The dialogues were so on point and both these actresses performed superbly. The precision with which Guddi put her plan into action suggests that she will win! Did you enjoy watching these scenes? Watching one more episode of Mushk this week was nothing short of a treat. Tonight’s episode covered the aftermath of Roshni and Saqib’s meeting. Through these developments the writer indirectly made the viewers understand how Malik sahib would have reacted had he found out the truth about the baby and Mehak’s past. Guddi’s character is turning out to be truly refreshing in so many ways; she is the only one who can give Zulekha a taste of her own medicine. There are however some elements of her character which are not the least bit likable. Overall however, this drama wouldn’t have been the same without Guddi.
Even though Zulekha is extremely bitter and evil, Zara Tareen’s performance makes her scenes interesting. While I appreciate the fact that Imran Ashraf let other characters take the lead, I do feel that we are not getting to see enough of Adam. It was so important to show how Mehak’s shocking secret affected him but so far that bit has been left to the viewer’s imagination. Like every other episode of Mushk, this one too had some powerful dialogues to its credit. Guddi’s dialogues about a woman’s tears were remarkable. Roshni is another character which has different shades. Mushk’s characters and their journeys have a lot of substance. The fact that all the actors have performed their respective roles so well definitely adds to the appeal. Aehsun Talish’s direction pulls you completely into the narrative since every scene is short and precise.
Decisions Made Out of Fear & Greed
There were some really crucial decisions made in this episode for different reasons. The opening scenes of tonight’s episode covered Zulekha’s bold stance even though she was lying. Just like Guddi, she has clear goals and she does not care how her actions affect those around her. She wants to be in control even if that means leaving her daughter heartbroken. What I understood from this entire development was that dada was more scared than anything else. He was confused and after listening to what Zulekha had to say he was scared as well. Therefore the decision that he made was more out of fear of getting disgraced and dishonored more than anything else. He was the only person who went all out to support Mehak and was introduced as someone who had a lot of faith in her as well. It was therefore disappointing to watch him believing everything Zulekha told him and in turn treat Mehak the way he did. He handled the Guddi and Zulekha situation so intelligently in the previous episode but tonight he let his emotions take over completely. It was at the end of this episode that dada informed Adam about his decision. Adam will make this sacrifice and this might make things easier for Mehak as well since she is desperately in need of a savior.
Saqib also made a decision but for completely different reasons. The conversation between him and Zulekha was written exceptionally well. It would have been even more exciting had the 15 lakh dialogue not been shown in the promo. He decided to do exactly what Zulekha wanted and proved that he indeed did not believe in following his heart. The scene showing Saqib lying down with all that money under the open sky was most unconvincing. However, this scene was written well since it suggested that he was reevaluating his decision and ultimately came to the conclusion that the money will help him forget Roshni!
Shayan already made the decision to marry in the previous episode. Tonight’s episode showed the emotional last day he spent in captivity. The bond these two prisoners share has been shown remarkably. After listening to his friend’s story, he wanted to do something for him too once he was free. His friend however repeatedly kept on telling him to not rush things and to be wise. Sohail Sameer’s character is turning out to be such a wise and warm addition to the play. Even though he is in such a difficult situation he does whatever he can to help Shayan. There is a comradeship between these two which makes you root for both of them equally. They feel each other’s pain and have formed a special bond in the most unusual circumstances. I must add that I loved Muqaddar Khan’s dialogues tonight; short but meaningful! It was time now to give Shayan a warm welcome only because he was finally going to do what he wanted him to. Aehsun Talish is brilliant in this role.
Guddi, Roshni and Zulekha
These three characters and their stories had my undivided attention tonight. Roshni is nothing like her mother, she has a conscience and she is also naïve. Guddi figured that out quickly and that was the reason why she decided that Roshni could help her get the revenge from her mother. Zulekha also knows her daughter well therefore she was on guard. She made sure that Roshni did not tell dada the truth. Once she had taken care of that, her guard was down and that is when Guddi decided to talk to Roshni. Guddi’s meeting with the doctor was also quite interesting. She is really clever and can immediately tell what someone is thinking. She can literally see through people, I find her intelligence likable but her sadistic side is equally unpleasant. The way she made Mehak realize what could happen if dada ever found out the truth about her once again showed that she doesn’t have an ounce of sympathy for her.
Zulekha and the doctor’s meeting tonight too showed that these two were pure evil. Zulekha is the one making all the plans and the doctor is more than willing to help. His interest in Guddi however suggested that she might be able to manipulate him as well! These two women are equally clever, manipulative and selfish yet their scenes are always remarkable; beautifully written and brilliantly acted out.
Final Remarks
Tonight’s episode of Mushk took the story forward considerably and yet again left me with so many questions. Urwa Hocane’s outstanding performance makes Guddi a character which we won’t be forgetting for a long time. Imran Ashraf has etched-out all the characters so well; I am waiting to see more of him in the drama. Adam’s love will be tested in a way he never thought it could be tested. Once Shayan is out, there might be hope for his friend as well. There are endless possibilities since all these tracks can go in so many different directions. I am eagerly looking forward to the next episode.

Actress and host Juggun Kazim is expecting her third child and she has shared her complete pregnancy journey in a video.
In her Vlog, she shared how she came to know about it, her experiences, health conditions and everything in her pregnancy time.
She shared, “Today I am going to talk about my pregnancy and my experiences. In the first trimester, I had constant vomiting and then expecting during COVID, then reaching to doctor, then mostly bed rest and back pain. You can’t sleep at night and your body changes and then people fat shame you.”
Talking about her experience, she said, “Last year I had a very bad miscarriage after that I became depressed and upset. I thought I will have a daughter but I had a miscarriage so I was not expecting to get expected. In February, I came to know that I am a few weeks pregnant. I was excited but scared because Hamza was born and after that, I had a miscarriage and then Hassan was born and again miscarriage. So I and my husband had a conversation and he said to me that our family is complete as from the previous marriage he has kids and from this marriage as well.”
Juggun Kazim also shared that she had a severe cough during March and April but later when she got her tests done she came to knew that she had COVID but she got recovered.
She also shared that during Ramadan transmission she had major back pain and different other issues, so she had to bed rest. She said, “So you can imagine about the depression because I am a workaholic and an active mother. Due to all this, I also gained lots of weight around 50 pounds. Still, if I talk I have breathing issues and my feet are swelled up. So this is my pregnancy so far.”
Talking about how she was fat-shamed, Juggun shared, “The thing which has hurt me the most is that how people make fun of you when you gain weight. See when anyone gains weight they know about it so you don’t have to go to them and tell them about it. I recently uploaded a shout out video many people sent me lovely messages but some made fun of me. Many people mocked me and said ‘haye, moti hogae ho, Haye isko kya hogaya hai?'”
Juggun clearly said that fat-shaming is not a nice thing. She advised that we must not judge and hurt people just because of their looks. In the end, she asked everyone to pray for her and the baby.

In a recent interview, he talked about how male actors are required to look good and they are chosen on the basis of their looks.
He shared, “The problem is we are going with a go-to look that he must be white, have spotless skin, beard and good hairstyle. All of these things are required in male actors. Sometimes when I have been considered it’s due to my looks because my complexion is white. Due to this, many boys copy this go-to look to get work. I understand that.”
“The problem is you all end up looking same and how will you look different? I said all this because your talent matters. If you are not a talented actor then work on it, do practice and make your own identity.”
Osama Tahir took names of top Pakistani actors like Fawad Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Ahsan Khan and said that they all fit in a box and their look is go-to look like their hairstyle and beard.

He said, “Initially it makes you angry because nobody gives you chance and listen to you but what I like is that I gave auditions, I worked hard and then I got dramas and films. Even for the film ‘Chalay Thay Saath’, I was not their first choice. They wanted a leading actor and already known face but I went and auditioned and based on that I got work. Initially, I wanted that I must have some contacts but then without any contact, it motivated me to work harder.”
Drama serial Jalan has garnered a lot of negative attention even before it started airing. It was because, through the teasers and promos, the fans and viewers of Pakistani dramas clearly understood what the plot and story of Jalan were about. It caused an uproar and people didn’t hold back in stating what they felt about the theme of a girl falling in love with her brother-in-law. The theme of the drama has been controversial and it is upsetting to see that a leading channel and one of the biggest production houses of Pakistan still resorted to this kind of story to bring in ratings and viewership.
The team and cast of Jalan have passed quite a lot of statements to justify whatever they are showing but the fact remains that these kinds of stories are not well received by the audiences for whom these dramas are created and produced. Jalan has remained consistently controversial and this is the reason it also got banned but unfortunately, the ban was overruled and the drama continued to air at prime time.
There have been quite a lot of scenes in this drama that are unethical and immoral. They have tried to show it how it is perfectly alright for a girl to woo her brother in law and how a guy thinks he is entitled to change the mood and opt for a girl who happens to be his wife’s younger sister. In this situation, both the leading characters are wrong but the female lead remains in the limelight.

In this scene, Nisha is seen speaking against the proposal that her parents approved for Misha. However, it is ironic to see that she gets to say so much & her parents actually are so absent-minded to understand what she is trying to convey. In this entire equation, her parents are shown to be the innocent victims as well but they are equally responsible for not being mature or wise enough to understand the kind of mentality their daughter in general has.
Nisha Removing Her Engagement Ring
This scene showed that for Nisha, her own engagement ring lost its value and importance the moment she saw a diamond ring that she was going to get from Asfand. At this stage, she was already smitten by him, therefore she fancied the idea of Asfand putting a ring on her finger. It is amusing to see that her parents and no one else took notice of what she did, except Ahmer who could clearly see where she was going with this.
Nisha Comparing Ahmer & Asfand’s Houses
In this scene, Nisha is seen openly speaking about all the luxuries that her sister was enjoying after her marriage. Asfand too hears her and finds it absolutely bizarre. The writer has tried to show that for a girl, it is perfectly fine to dream of having a lavish lifestyle but her only option happens to be a marriage to a wealthy businessman. She shouldn’t have any other aspirations and she will get what she wants!
Nisha Sneaking Into Her Sister’s Bed
This has to be one of the most sickening scenes of this entire drama, where Nisha deliberately sneaks into her sister’s bed. At this point, Nisha knows that this is the time when Asfand usually returns from office after a long day, therefore she pretends to be sleeping in his bed so that he comes close and gets startled upon finding her there. The victorious smile that Nisha gives when he leaves the room was disgusting.
Nisha & Asfand Planning To Lie To Misha
In this scene, Nisha is trying to convince Asfand to lie to Misha that he took her for an outing at late hours of the night. Asfand also fancies the idea and stays silent after Misha inquires. At this point, it was pretty obvious that Asfand was also enjoying the attention that he was getting from Nisha and was already feeling burdened with Misha’s presence.
Asfand Smitten By Nisha & Leaving Misha Alone
This scene depicted the physical attraction Asfand felt towards Nisha, especially when he saw her all dolled up for him. This is what Nisha used to her advantage and knew that she had her looks and style to attract Asfand towards her. Asfand felt unattracted to his wife who wasn’t feeling well and because he couldn’t contain his excitement to go on a date with his beautiful sister in law, he left his wife to suffer alone.
Asfand Being Emotionally Abusive Towards Misha
In this scene, it was shown that Asfand found a reason to be mad and upset at Misha, all because he wanted her to take care of a file for him. Asfand created havoc and held Misha responsible, although he knew that she was always meticulous when it came to dealing with anything related to him.
Nisha Forcing Herself Onto Asfand
Nisha had already confessed her feelings to Asfand and because she saw that he was feeling burdened with the fact that he and Misha had a child on its way, and also because she saw that he was having a hard time making up his mind, she literally barged into his office and forced herself onto him. Nisha literally harassed Asfand to agree to what she wants because she continued to emotionally blackmail him. Nisha also told Asfand that she’d love him the way Misha won’t be able to and Asfand found that a reason enough to reciprocate her feelings!
Asfand Showing His Ugly Real Face & Ditching Misha
Asfand felt it was important for him to tell his pregnant wife Misha that he doesn’t love her, in fact, he never ever loved her. Instead of feeling remorse or being sorry that he cheated upon his wife, he continued to justify it by stating that he doesn’t love her anymore!
Nisha Commenting About Misha’s Iddat
In this scene, Nisha yet again stooped low and showed what a vile person she was. When she sees a white dress picked up by her mother for her forced Nikkah, she comments that this white outfit should be saved for Misha because it will suit her when she will get to observe Iddat after her divorce from Asfand!
Misha Covering Up For Asfand & Still Being In Denial
Misha has been a reasonable character in this drama but for her to not see her husband at fault puts a big question mark on the kind of person she is. She doesn’t mind holding her sister responsible for destroying her life but does not blame her husband for being disloyal to her and shattering her trust. Misha says she will forgive Asfand because she is carrying his child. It is understandable that Misha wants to mend ways only for the sake of her child but for her to give her husband a clean chit is cringe-worthy.
Asfand Shamelessly Talking About Abortion
Not that Asfand was an ideal character or he had a good track record, but he touched the lowest low when he shamelessly spoke about Misha aborting a baby because he felt this pregnancy was making him lose the chances of getting married to Nisha. His sister continued to make him understand that he was being unreasonable but he showed that he was not only unreasonable but a sick human being to even think about killing his own child!
Talaq Talaq Talaq
Just like all the other dramas, this one too had to have a fair share of Talaq, therefore Asfand barged into Misha’s parents’ house and divorced her. He not only just verbally scarred her, he pushed her away to show that he could not stand her presence in his life in a literal sense. Asfand is a vile character and he deserves nothing but the worst!
