Lashkara Episode 12 Review – Intense!

Ohkay so, this episode of Lashkara opened up a new chapter in Bubbly’s life which was based on emotional struggles & depression that she was going through. It was interesting to see how this subject not only got introduced but was tackled & elaborated.

Bubbly was still struggling to cope up with what just happened – everything that Sunny did & despite knowing that it was Nikki behind all this, she chose to stay quiet. Bubbly’s only concern is Feeka, she just doesn’t want to hurt him therefore she didn’t even bother explaining anything to Nasreen as well because she feared that she might not actually believe her. Bubbly who was flying high with all the love & support that she was getting was now finding herself falling deep in a bottomless pit & sadly, that gave an opening to something that she was unaware of – depression.

Bubbly struggled hard but what pushed her to the limit was a declaration from Nikki about Tipu who committed suicide because of her. I almost guessed it right in the previous review as it was obvious that Nikki had this grudge against Bubbly because of someone & that happened to be Tipu who lost his life. It is unfortunate that Nikki had to go through it but what’s worst is that just because of her hatred for Bubbly, she is choosing to ignore the fact that Feeka is madly in love with her & she means the world to him. Nikki lost Tipu & she has firsthand experienced what it does to you, so it is ridiculous of her to overlook that everything that she will do to Bubbly will affect Feeka the same way as well. Yes, Nikki wants Bubbly to feel the pain of losing someone but then why can’t she be considerate of Feeka?

It was obvious that even Nasreen knew Nikki was behind everything that happened, may be that’s why she politely requested her to leave Feeka & Bubbly alone. Nasreen also subtly touched upon the past telling Nikki to let it go but then, I guess she was going easy on Nikki as being a mother she knows how troubled her child is. Nikki herself confessed that she cut her wrist for Tipu so obviously Nasreen is smart enough to connect the dots. Nasreen is not openly telling Nikki off, neither she is giving Bubbly that satisfaction to think she is not guilty but I feel if there’s someone who can fix everything, it is Nasreen!

Feeka’s concerns for Bubbly were so nicely portrayed, he just couldn’t understand what went wrong for Bubbly to become like this as on his own, he was doing everything to please her but still it wasn’t enough. To be honest, it is beautiful how hopelessly in love Feeka is with Bubbly & it is nice to see their equation where Bubbly’s personality works in perfect harmony with Feeka’s simplicity & gullibility but it has its cons too because these traits of Feeka scare Bubbly as she knows that he won’t be able to grasp everything & he will not think rationally if he will find out what happened that night. It is nice to see Bubbly still smiling for Feeka & loving him for who he is but also, it turns out she is suffering because of him too as she knows that she won’t be able to make him understand everything!

Sunny was spot on, he did figure out that it was Nikki who did everything but then, who is going to believe him & even before that who is going to hear him out? Sunny lost all the chances he had to fix things & now he lost his freedom too. I so hope he finds a way out to do right by Bubbly because she needs it. Kulsoom & her assumptions are going to cost her a lot of shame later but then I liked how Saima was able to see through Bubbly’s act & she could feel that something was just not right. Obviously Saima couldn’t say much but because she has spent her entire life with Bubbly, she knows her too well. I just hope in the middle of all this, Bubbly finds some support, she gets encouragement to fight Nikki because she has to hold onto her love, her husband, so she better bounce back & do what needs to be done!

I love Lashkara for everything that it has offered till date – intense acting, meaningful dialogues, captivating scenarios, it is amazing how a drama that started on such a different note has taken such a turn. If we put it in simple words, Lashkara is showing us the hardships a girl faces in her husband’s home but then the treatment that has been given to this script makes it a unique drama. I am loving the acting of all the actors & I can not wait to see what’s in store for us. Please share your thoughts.

“Of course, Meesha said something based on what she’s experienced” — Maya Ali

Ever since Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment the entertainment industry has been divided in two factions. Maya Ali found herself amidst all this owning to her latest flick with Ali Zafar titled Teefa In Trouble. TIT is a huge project for both Ali and Maya. Maya was constantly questioned in every interview what her stance on this harassment case is. In a recent interview with Express Tribune the actress gave her two cents on the matter and said,

“This episode is very separate from Teefa and there are a lot of people associated with it. Had it been in hot waters, would blame everyone who’s helped in making it? Also, I believe everybody has their own opinion and experiences.”

"Of course, Meesha said something based on what she’s experienced" --- Maya Ali

She further added that she hasn’t seen proof form either side and she really hopes now that the case is in the court the truth prevails and the guilty one pays,

“Of course, Meesha said something based on what she’s experienced but I haven’t seen any proof, from either side actually. Not to support or defend anyone but I’m waiting for things to come out in the open. This can happen to anyone, even me, and I hope we can be more patient and question people without judgment.”

She concluded,

“Now that things are in court, I hope that the truth prevails. It’s important for people to know who’s right and what the repercussions of something like this might be.”

"Of course, Meesha said something based on what she’s experienced" --- Maya Ali

When asked of her thoughts on the MeToo movement the Man Mayal starlet said,

“I don’t think we had #MeToo when I started off but I’m glad it’s here because it’s important. If something is benefiting people, it should be done. We need to eradicate evil doings. How we do it is something collective but we need to be mindful of what we say. I strongly believe we cannot judge a book by its cover.”

The actor who has been styled by Ania Fawad has mostly been seen in western outfits for promotions till now.

Here are some of her looks in which she served and slayed.

Ishq Tamasha Episode 19 Review-The Non-Sensical Selfishness!

Mirha has only been a ping pong ball in Ishq Tamasha. She has been thrown in every direction since the start and now she has ended up back where she started. Yes, at the same evil Chachi Jaan’s house. Mirha’s character is so all over the place.  I am still not able to decipher whether she has fallen in love with Mehrab or does she still like Wahaj? She wants to be independent yet her life depends on making breakfast for her kidnapper. But Mehrab finally kept his word and transported her back to Aqeela’s house.

Rushna has become second Naima. She is a character with not a single ounce of virtue in her. She just keeps plotting against everyone and the way she asks Maine Kya Kiya is the drama form of Mujhe Kyun Nikala! A girl who has such a high quotient of intelligence that she manipulates every situation to her gain should have common sense too. She should know what she is doing. Her whole allegation fiasco against Mirha combined with her AHSANAT was too annoying to tolerate. She, a girl who married the brother of the boy she had an affair with was judging Mirha. It was nothing short of a Wah SubhanAllah moment!

Ishq Tamasha Episode 19 Review-The Non-Sensical Selfishness!

Mehrab is not mature but an extremely impulsive person. He kidnapped Mirha then went back to get Rishta for Arham and finally ended up marrying Rushna. He is not really putting much effort to make Rushna’s life hell either. He did succeed in sending Mirha back but on what cost? She will never be respected again. She was disgraced everywhere as an eloped woman. Now sending her back will rectify everything? And how useless Wahaj is. He is simply okay with Mirha now, though he never believed her before. And what are they going to show us now? Mehrab falling for Rushna? Mirha marrying Wahaj, a guy who could not even trust her?

Palwasha’s track is another headache. The girl is too young for this plot. She is too young that one cannot make himself/herself okay with the idea of her and Ghufran together.

What are your thoughts on Rushna’s non-plighty plight? Share in comments!

Visaal Episode 16 Review – Story-telling At Its Finest!

Ohkay so, this episode like all the previous episodes of Visaal was very interesting. I like how the story is progressing & even after so many episodes, they have one thing or the other to offer in every episode.

This episode focused more & more on Pari’s wedding & everyone’s participation as well as feelings related to it. Pari feels she has no other option left that is why she has given in, despite not wanting to. Jumman Bua feels she has no say whatsoever in anyone’s personal matters because firstly no one feels the need to discuss anything with her & lastly, there’s not anything that she can do because she isn’t that self-sufficient herself to be taking care of & supporting Pari.

Ghufran finally accepted that his wife meant nothing but well for Pari, that is why he had a conversation with Pari to convince her that she should accept whatever is coming her way. It is nice to see Ghufran being so simple-minded & clean-hearted but I wish he was a little more aware of what his wife’s intentions actually are. Naheed was sent back to her house but Akram welcomed her with another hint that shook her to the core, just a little reminder to her of the day when she stabbed Pari in the back – her black shoes. Naheed obviously thinks she is dodging the bullet but I am looking forward to when she will learn the truth that Akram has all the actual details that claim she’s the culprit!

Naheed has been reminding Pari again & again that everything will sort out once Taimur will be back, but then she can not go into details to clarify the doubts Pari has in her heart against him as that will mean revealing her own secret which Naheed can not afford at this stage. Pari has pretty much lost all the hope that is why she always sounds so dejected, part of it is also because she sees her wedding looming in the future which she so wants to avoid but can not!

Akram is playing his cards well, he has picked the right person who is doing everything according to him as it will the guarantee his marriage with Pari but then again, it will be interesting to see if things will go against his plan? I do feel may be Naheed will step in once Akram will tell her how he wanted to get married to Pari, which is pretty much the next episode is going to be about but then again will Naheed choose to stay quiet in order to keep her secret hidden which Akram will threathen her with or she will put everything aside to save Pari from Akram in order to overrule the guilt that she has for ruining Pari’s life? Let’s see if this will turn out to be Akram’s mistake or he will eventually succeed if Naheed will stay silent?

Overall, this drama has surely exceeded my expectations. I must say the highlight of this episode for me was the coverage that Tariq’s feelings for Pari got. I just couldn’t stop laughing during that entire scenario where they depicted that he was in love with wind blowing in his hair, music in the background, with him jumping casually on his way back & then sitting by the wall engrossed in his thoughts – just how real I swear. Obviously Tariq is on the brink of a heart break as Akram loves Pari & he stands zero chance but then, he’s totally entitled to feel happy just with the idea of being in love with someone. Amazing acting, amazing script, even better story-telling & perfect direction – that’s Visaal for you. Please share your thoughts.

Salman Ahmed Gets Criticized On Mastung Blast Remark

A suicide bomber targeted the political corner meeting of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate on Friday. The death toll has crossed 200 and many are critically injured. As the nation mourns it’s countrymen former Junoon bassist Salman Ahmed’s thoughts on the matter caused an outrage on Twitter and otherwise. In a tweet, the musician wrote the lyrics of his song Junoon se and termed the deaths of the Pakistanis a ‘qurbani’ while seeking azaadi.

Ahmed was schooled by many on how the Mastung blast was massacre and not a necessary sacrifice for the greater good.

But even after much backlash, Ahmed defended his stance. He then tweeted his song and wrote, “Comparing shaheeds of today with the spirit of Jinnah’s Azadi. The psychology of martyrdom: making the ultimate sacrifice in the name of a cause.”

Twitter schooling wasn’t enough and we do not know what it would take for this politically active musician to realize that martyrdom is when someone dies fighting for something unlike those citizens who were only attending a political meeting totally unaware of what awaited them was death. It’s not martyrdom sir it’s massacre. Not a necessary sacrifice needed for a better tomorrow but an utter security failure.

When the whole country was sunk in a political frenzy, a huge tragedy hit us again. Mastung was bathed in the blood of our brothers. More than 128 people lost their lives in a suicide attack including a patriotic leader Nawabzada Siraj Raisani who fetched a World Record for Pakistani by making the longest flag in 2017. Our celebrities were also deeply shaken by the tragedy as they mourn the loss of their brethren:

Woh Mera Dil Tha Episodes 10 – 14 – Review

In these 5 weeks, the schedule of this drama changed over and over again and I had a difficult time keeping up with it! I was also waiting for ARY to finally decide what time and day they want to air this play so that I can finally catch up and review all the episodes together. A great deal happened in these 5 weeks and even after so many weeks Zaid and Naina continue to be the best part of this drama. The supporting characters and actors have an important role to play in the story but they are not always impressive and there are times when they keep you wondering as well. Naina’s character went through a major transformation in these episodes. Initially, she decided she needed to do the bare minimum in order to buy herself some time till she could finally figure out what she needs to do. Madihah Imam translated every emotion Naina went through in these episodes effortlessly. The writer has also shown the difficulties Naina faced in Zaid’s house and how ultimately she manages to fit in convincingly.

It is also good to see that Naina and Zaid haven’t fallen in love with each other just yet but they have learned to live with each other for completely different reasons. Naina and Zaid’s valima was covered really well, the way they feel awkward around each other and Zaid’s attitude in particular was shown realistically. He could not stand to be around Naina and he didn’t even try to make his behavior socially acceptable. Naina too was not surprised or disappointed when Saba came and told her that Zaid loved her. When Zaid said to Naina that he was not going to sleep on the sofa like heroes do in the movies reminded me of Dillagi! Mohid and Zaid surely are world apart but while I absolutely loved Mohid’s character, I find Zaid’s character interesting too.

Woh Mera Dil Tha Episodes 10 - 14 - Review

Zaid is greedy and selfish but Sami Khan’s performance makes you look forward to his scenes. Also, Zaid’s character is intriguing and somehow I don’t find myself judging him too much! Zaid decided to meet Naina’s mother when Naina wasn’t feeling well and he made the most of this meeting. He got a job through her connections and access to Naina’s bank account too. He paid Naina’s tuition fee with her own money but Naina felt like he was doing her a huge favour and therefore tried to put in some effort to please him. This turn in events was amusing. Naina’s character and the role she played in the latest episode reminded me of Dina’s character from Teri Meri Kahani. Naina has gradually changed herself and is doing whatever she can to help Shabana too. While Zaid is a thankless manipulator, Naina acknowledges every little thing which Zaid’s family does for her. Zaid’s father’s character played an important role in making his wife and daughter understand Naina situation and has been supportive throughout. Arham also found out about Naina’s wedding but he is not back just yet. In this episode, it seemed like Arham’s father felt bad about what he did.

Woh Mera Dil Tha has an interesting story, Sami Khan and Madiha Imam also keep on giving you a reason to tune into this drama. There were a few continuity bloopers in these episodes but overall the director has done a decent job. However, the production values and some of supporting actors are the weakest link in this play. This drama could have been far more enticing and appealing if it was visually pleasing as well. The preview of the next episode showed that Naina’s mother will now gift her a car as well and it is quite likely that her father might forgive her some time soon too.

Comedy And Patriotism-The Sale Points?

0

Yes, the industry is growing and we are seeing a number of movies coming out month after month. Pakistani cinema has gone years without any aesthetic and we came to a point when people around the world didn’t even know that Pakistanis make films too. A drastic change came after the release of Bilal Lashari’s Waar. People again started looking up towards cinemas. New filmmakers came up with a fresher approach towards the art and many films got a huge response from the audience. We have reached a point where four Pakistani movies were screened on Eid ul Fitr. But where are we content wise? This has become a huge question mark. I know we are a relatively new industry since the earlier position of the cinema was destroyed. So, I am not saying that we will get Godfather or Shawshank Redemption in the very start. Our drama industry is the prime example of our country’s talent. But unfortunately, the same prowess is not very visible in our films yet. The only two genres visible in the recent films are comedy and patriotism. I love both of these and has my picks from both but there are thousands of stories out there that could become good movies. Here is what we are getting right now from our flourishing industry: Comedies: We around the globe are surrounded by chaos. People are in turmoil financially as well as geographically. We see blood and death and don’t even get sad for more than an hour about it, such is the magnitude of this ongoing chaos. It has desensitized people but at the same time has ditched them into darkness. At this point, comedies provide people with a chance to shed the burden off their shoulders for a few hours. This proves as a huge reason for people becoming attracted more towards this genre. But we have kind of gone into an overdose. A good satire which has a message or a central theme is not what are comedies usually go for. There are stupid jokes sometimes even touching the line of obscenity which we mostly see in our comedies. There is no central story most of the time and sometimes these movies are just an amalgam for two or three Bollywood and Hollywood movies. Jawani Phir Nahin Aani was a movie which seemed got its central idea from Hangover (Hollywood) and Masti (Bollywood). Mehrunissa V Lub U was also a comedy which had so many double meaning jokes that it was extremely annoying to even watch it alone, let alone with family. And the movie’s central idea was, well,  a try to spread awareness about cleanliness. Na Maloom Afraad 2 was also not up to par content-wise. Actor In Law is a film which actually portrayed the gist of a true comedy. It was a perfect satire with good jokes and something which most of our films forget while their scripts are being finalized: A STORY! Comedy And Patriotism-The Sale Points? We still are getting a huge influx of comedies with 7DMI and Na Band Na Baraati released just now on Eid and Teefa In Trouble about to release on the 20th of July. The two biggest releases of the year Load Wedding and Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 are also comedies. All in all, this is the biggest genre we have right now with quantity over quality indeed. Patriotism: People fell in love with Waar. The film made over 20 crores in Pakistan in times when no one went to cinemas for a Pakistani film. This again started a trend of making films that bubbles up feelings of patriotism in the audience. A desperate sequel of Waar called Yalghaar came out. It was an amalgam so many story tracks that all it was relying to succeed on was the patriotism of the audiences. Azaadi is a recent example of the high ticket value of patriotism. Despite the small number of shows and not really a very positive response to its trailer, the film was earning equal to 7DMI which had Pakistan’s biggest star Mahira Khan as its lead. Comedy And Patriotism-The Sale Points? Another huge release scheduled for Eid ul Adha; Parwaaz Hai Junoon is also a patriotic film that will shed light on the life and sacrifices of Pakistani Airforce. Sherdil starring Armeena Rana Khan and Mikaal Zulfiqar is also a movie based on Airforce. So, we still have more and more movies coming out of this genre. The Others: Many good films have come out which not got that much of a hype. They were good and deserved more attention but didn’t get that much. Shah is such an example. It was a great movie, a beautiful biopic but it didn’t join the list of the bigwigs. The same thing happened to Motorcycle Girl which was a different story. Mah e Mir, Maalik (a different kind of patriotic) and Arth are also some films which did not get much appreciation in the sense some movies like Mehrunissa got. They were better than Wrong No. and even Parchi but were not really appreciated by the audience. Comedy And Patriotism-The Sale Points? Seems like the only two genres selling in Pakistan right now are Patriotic and Comedy. Many thoughtless and copied stories are coming out constantly which at the end of the day do not hold the attention of the audience after the first weekend. Do you agree with these two genres being cashed upon in Pakistan right now? Share in comments!

Zun Mureed Episode 20 Review – Strong Messages

Tonight’s episode of Zun Mureed yet again showed the impact Tabbbasum’s teachings on her students and how this was affecting her relationship with her brother. Tabbasum found relief in teaching the younger generation to not make the mistakes she did even when she was going through the lowest period of her life. Every episode has a new lesson and message for all the young girls out there and also those women who are suffering in silence. This drama continues to be realistic because the writer has been really honest when it comes to showing how difficult it is for a woman to stand against all odds. This episode put forward the message that women should help each other take a stand for what is right and raise their voice against injustice. I truly appreciate the way the writer has conveyed all these beautiful and apt messages and I still feel that even with its slow pace and repetition Zun Mureed continues to be a much better play than all those done-to-death dramas which promote clichés. Having said that, some of the scenes in this episode were difficult to sit through. The fact that Rubina isn’t reliable and is definitely not the ideal person to look after the children has been well-established by now and this part of the drama should be wrapped up. She shouldn’t be getting so much screen time because most of these are filler scenes which could easily have been chopped down.

In this episode, Tabbasum’s brother tries to convince her that she should somehow stop this divorce from happening. Although, right now Tabbasum doesn’t feel too “strong” but she isn’t confused any more about what she wants. (meta-calculator.com) Her conversation with Sidra helps her understand things better and she also gets a chance to analyze her own situation when she is teaching the girls. The writer has also shown that a teacher can play an important role in educating her students in such a manner that they are more informed about their rights. I find Tabbasum’s nieces’ discussions with their mother very interesting too because every time these girls say something it is simple yet more sensible than everything their mother has to say. Once again through their scenes the viewers were shown why the parents and guardians would be more comfortable teaching their daughters rules which are more in line with our social norms. It was funny watching a woman who completely controls her husband and is totally capable of brainwashing other men (Abid) telling her daughters that women should do whatever their husbands and in laws want once they are married!

I also really like the way it has been shown that how the absence of a responsible mother affects children’s lives. One really important message in this episode, which I completely agree with was that children shouldn’t be allowed to watch news channels and grown ups shouldn’t discuss issues which don’t concern children in front of them. This happens in our households all the time and most often people don’t even think about the repercussions. Sajjad’s boss told him off once again, this particular aspect of the story has also been well-established therefore this track also needs to be move forward. The viewers perfectly understand now the flaws in his personality and the reasons behind them. . I am waiting for the time when Sajjad will realize how wrong he was and still very interested in Tabbasum’s journey. I must say that I feel for the children more than anyone else at this point.

Teefa In Trouble – Best Music Album

One of the most anticipated movie of this year is Ali Zafar and Maya Ali starrer Teefa In Trouble. Where it’s trailer has raised the bar high, it’s songs have crossed Million views and have been trending in Pakistan.

Teefa In Trouble - Best Music Album

Recently Teefa In Trouble’s audio Jukebox was released and believe me this is the best music album of the Pakistani movies of recent time after Punjab Nahi Jaungi. The film has 6 songs and all of them beautiful to the core.
So, here I am rating the beautiful songs of Teefa In Trouble’s music album.

1- Nahin Jaana:

Nahin Jaana is a traditional Punjabi Wedding song composed by Shani Arshad and sung by Asma Abbas. I am in love with the melodious voice of Asma, beautiful composition and very touchy lyrics. I am sure that this song is going to be played on our Weddings from now on.

Sora Ni Sora Dil Da Khora
Utoon Mitha Te Wichon Kora
Main Aday Naal Nai Jaana
Asma Abbas you have won over me!!! <3

Teefa In Trouble - Best Music Album

2- Chan Ve:

Chan Ve’s music is composed by Ali Zafar and is sung by none other than Ali Zafar himself along with Aima Baig. The best part about this one is its’s light music and beautiful lyrics. Ali Zafar and Aima have sung it beautifully though I wish that they should have given Aima a few more lines.
Chan Ve’s video has also been released which has now more than 8M views.

Main Dil Rakhaan Saanbh Tere Lai
Mera Har Song Tere Lai
Raatan Long Tere Lai

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvqyHS-Rycs

3- Ishq Nachaunda:

Ishq Nachanda is the song that takes you to another world completely. Music composed by Ali Zafar & Baqar Abbas and sung by Ali Zafar, this song has very very deep lyrics. It’s composition and lyrics resemble very much to Aplus’ Main Mar Gai Shaukat Ali’s OST (Okhay Painday Lammiyan Ne Rawan Ishq Dian) also sung by Ali Zafar. This is the song that takes you to another world whenever you hear it. Simply Beautfiul!!!!

Sajjan Russ Gae Shaman Paiyan
Dil Diyan Gallan Dil Wich Raiyan
Akhiyan Rowan Dil Ghabraway
Ishqa Teri Samajh Na Away
Ik Zindagi Te Dard Hazaar
Ishq Nachaunda Yaar, Ishq Nachaunda Yaar……

4- Sajna Door:

Sajna Door is composed by Ali Zafar and Danyal Zafar and sung by Aima Baig & Ali Zafar. This song has the feeling of Ali Zafar’s old songs in it. It starts with Aima Baig’s English vocals ( and she has done that part brilliantly!!). It has beautiful composition and is a must listen indeed!!!

Sajna Door Teriyan Raahwan
Takkan Vey Meriyan Bahwaan
Mann Vich Tu Rehnda
Kyun Nai Kuj Kehnda

5- Item Number:

So this Non- Item Number ‘Item Number’ is composed by Naqash Haider and Ali Zafar and sung by Ali Zafar & Aima Baig. The party song has been trending on #1 on YouTube in Pakistan and has 5.9M views by now. It will make you dance for sure!!

6- Butt Sahab:

So Butt Sahab is sung and composed by Ali Zafar and is the only song of Teefa In Trouble that I didn’t like. Maybe it’s because that the song is about one of the characters of the film or because I am not a fan of rap.

Pukaar Last Episode Review – A Happy Ending!

Awww the last episode of Pukaar was sweet & I liked the way everything was addressed. I am glad that despite the extremely slow pace & the over dosage of flashbacks, Pukaar got a complete ending where all the things were given a proper closure without leaving a room for anything to be covered!

One of the best things of this episode was an end that Zamani met. She was made to pay for what she did – better late than never! Sultan & Tashfeen mourned the loss of their son Fahad & did realize that he never wanted to become a part of this political system that Sultan was running in his hometown. It did end up being the reason why Fahad died & both Sultan & Tashfeen knew that. It wasn’t surprising that Tashfeen showed up for a couple of seconds in this last episode because her role wasn’t important – just like her character. I also feel that Jia Ali was wasted in this drama & failed to leave a mark despite trying really hard.

Sultan assured Samra that Qasim belonged to her. This was his way of apologizing to her for all that she went through in his house where he just couldn’t protect her from the atrocities thrown her way. Rehan Sheikh did the best he could with this one dimensional character of Sultan but then that’s expected from an actor of his calibre.

It turned out that Laali Ma was basically aik bezti ki maar but having said that, it is worth mentioning that in a very brief conversation it was nicely elaborated how young widows in feudel setting are usually treated, where their urge to get settled again is suppressed & they are expected to become the torch bearer of family’s dignity. I also liked how Laali Ma admitted that she could not tolerate a girl who questioned her every step of the way, who was basically a newly wed – something which does tend to make ladies like Laali Ma envy their newly married daughters in law. Everything that Laali did was basically a reflection of her jealousy against Samra & then a chain reaction of everything that she herself endured when she got widowed, but it was good that she admitted & apologized for everything but I wish Samra had insulted her earlier so that this drama could’ve ended earlier too!

Finally, Samra overcame the guilt that she felt right from the beginning of her relationship with Sarang. Samra continuously labelled it as a betrayal against Fahad but then, even though dramatic, the entire scene was nicely done where Fahad communicates with her & talks her out of getting divorced. Even though they made it dramatic but it still had a touch of reality to it that those departed do tend to guide their loved ones through dreams!

Finally, Samra said it. I liked that they just didn’t end the drama by showing that Samra chose not to get divorced, in fact she worded her feelings & was the first one to admit that she was in love with Sarang. Obviously, he gave her plenty of reasons to fall in love with him & I am glad she did. Their chemistry was amazing & it was nice to see how comfortable Yumna Zaidi & Zahid Ahmed looked with each other on-screen.

Even though the story of this drama was predictable right from the beginning, there was something that kept the viewers coming back to it. I honestly believe that 16-18 episodes were enough for a story like Pukaar because the content wasn’t new. The unnecessary usage of flashbacks & extremely slow pace did at times made this drama a task to tune to but I will let it slide considering all’s well when it ends well. For me, the best thing about this drama was Sarang’s character. It was nice to see a positive soul with a positive outlook on life in the middle of so much of negativity. Zahid Ahmed did the best he could but I so wish he hadn’t just sat on the makeup chair without an input allowing the so-called MUA’s do their own thing because they well & truly messed his look with unnecessary amount of makeup which did affect his character’s personality – thanks to a well-written, well-conceived character & even better acting that Zahid Ahmed was able to save himself as well as Sarang. Yumna Zaidi did really well in terms of acting but now when the drama has ended, I don’t feel any connection with Samra’s character & I am happy at the happy ending only for Sarang’s sake. Anyways, please share your thoughts!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Noor Bukhari Denies All Marriage Rumours

This isn’t the first time Noor Bukhari has had to address rumors regarding her marriage but anyway here is what she has to say. Last month, Bushra and Noor were spotted performing Umrah together. The PTI chairman was also present in the Holy city of Makkah along with his delegates, which included Noor’s former husband Aoun Chaudhry as well. Rumours started spreading like wildfire when photos of Bushra and Noor surfaced across social media. Many claimed that Noor was all set to tie the knot with Khawar after Bushra suggested her to do so. However, the former actor has denied all such claims.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BkAb79ag7Fh/?utm_source=ig_embed

Noor explained,

“I am surprised by the interest that everyone is showing in my marriage – that too with a man who is my father’s age. How can I marry a man that is old enough to be my father?”

She continued,

“Nowadays, whenever I attend any public event or family gathering, people keep associating me with Khawar and wish me luck for my marriage to him. I don’t understand why they don’t realise that the man is a lot older than I am and I cannot be with such a man.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk5v2LEAxQd/?taken-by=realnoorbukhari

She further added,

“I want to clarify that I have no plans of getting married yet. In the past, whenever I tied the knot, I told the media and the public. I never had to hide it from anyone even though people in the showbiz industry tend to conceal such matters.”

Se concluded by adding,

“If anyone is interested in my marriage or my well-being, please associate my name with someone who is young and suitable instead of Khawar.”

The former actress also made it clear that her daughter is growing and right now she is her only priority. She also clarified that she is leading a happy life ever since she left show business and that she doesn’t plan on returing to TV unless it is for a religious program.

Haara Dil Episode 14 Review — More Death

So episode fourteen is here and oh how grim! It’s like the Grim Reaper has seen Abrar house and has decided not to leave it, he came, he saw, he stayed. The last episode ended with Fizza calling Momina but this episode didn’t reveal what the conversation was about. Contrary to my prediction Arham did show up at the coffee house to tell Momina that he will welcome her and Sami gladly in his life but as it turned out Momina never wanted Arham to accept her condition. She either deliberately suggested this idea because she was sure that Arham will not comply or it was something that Fizza said that made Momina change her mind afterwards. Either way it looks like Arham has had enough and there is no way he is going back to Momina after this rejection.

The next day when Arham shows up at the dining table he is pretty worked up and it is evident from the dark circles around his eyes; suggestive of how tired he is and probably symbolizing his defeat for he finally agrees to marry Fizza. Arham will be leaving for Dubai soon and the idea is to get him engaged before that but he makes it clear that he isn’t ready for marriage just yet which is smart of him. Marrying Fizza out of spite for Momina would have hurt Arham more than it would have hurt Momina.

In a rather grim turn of events Abrar is killed by a couple of petty phone snatchers. Surprisingly one of the snatchers is none other than the one and only not so good for anything Qasid. Now this part was a bit extra. It is so insulting when a writer over-explains something considering the audience is dumb and that is what happened when Abrar removed the cloth off of one of the snatcher’s face to reveal that it was Qasid and instead of just getting shocked and dying right there he had to add that overly used dramatic “QASID! TUM?”

Haara Dil Episode 14 Review --- More Death

Later the police finds out that there was a CCTV camera right at the street corner where Abrar was killed so it looks like Qasid doesn’t have much chance of escaping. I lauded the actor playing Qasid for his acting in the last episode but this time he was a bit of a disappointment. Being at your Khalu’s funeral the one that you actually killed but no one knows about it and consoling your Khala while getting interrogated by police there is so much potential in the scenario he is in right now but he didn’t avail any of that screen time well. He is not a professional killer and what he did was done in the spur of the moment he is clearly scared but it is too obvious yet very poorly done.

Abeer is still on her college trip as such events unfold back home. She isn’t answering any calls, probably the teenage angst, but she has no idea how much she will regret doing it. I also lauded Seemi Pasha’s character Amtul in the last episode and writers keep jinxing everything I appreciate. Amtul is really mean to Momina when she calls to inform that her father is dead and even after hearing the news Amtul didn’t have it in her to say a single word of kindness to Momina which is downright callous and inhumane. She might be prejudiced but she is a human being in the end and no human is heartless enough to hang up on a young girl who just called you to inform that she has been orphaned, it is hard to buy.

They are about to get engaged but Arham is as cold toward Fizza as he was before so Fizza’s inclination to marry him anyway is something hard to understand, this can only be explained by the fact she is stubborn and just needs to own Arham for the sake of it.

Overall this episode had really heart wrenching scenes when Momina is mourning her dead father and Danish also did well in this one but some of it as usual was average. The show has started losing it’s uniqueness in the regard that characters are now being portrayed as evil and we are back to the “the world is black and white” routine and the same old raqeeb routine. I have said this before and I will say it again those evil characters are boring, prosaic and over used. The only thing that is keeping this show going are the on and off deaths and events like babies getting kidnapped.

In coming episode we will see the return of Abeer and some more details about this angry teenager’s college life. Till then stay tuned.

Meri Gurya Episodes 3 & 4 Review – Highs and Lows!

These two episodes gave further insight into the personalities of all the central characters and their relationships with each other. It was just as disturbing as the first two episodes because it was shown in detail how a paedophile’s mind works. Dabeer’s scenes were the most frightening element of these two episodes. Mohsin Abbas Haider has once again nailed a character which isn’t easy to translate on screen. However, I must say that because lately we have seen a few really good dramas which highlighted the mindset of such sick people you can’t help but compare this drama with Udaari in particular and Dabeer’s character with that of Imtiaz. While Imtiaz was a more clever person who knew how to manipulate others and his personality characteristics definitely fit in more with the general profile of such criminals, there are certain aspects of Dabeer’s personality which are difficult to understand. It was shown that Dabeer always liked playing with dolls and still owned dolls, I am wondering how does this aspect of his personality fit in the whole picture and why is it considered “not normal” for a little boy to play with dolls. I feel that it would have made more sense if he kept these dolls to allure little girls as opposed to showing that because he played with girls as a child there was something wrong with him since he was little. I could be wrong but that is the impression I got from this scene.

Overall however the writer has intelligently conveyed how such people get all the details they need and the fact that this is someone who is really close to the family also hits home. In these two episodes, Dabeer made up his mind that Abida was going to be his next victim and he did whatever he could to get all the information he needed to execute his evil plan. All his interactions with Abida were terribly frightening and when Abida went missing I found myself hoping that she was still alive. I am glad that the writer didn’t rush things and I also hope that Abida is somehow saved in the upcoming episodes too. In these four episodes, Abida has been introduced as a sweet girl who unlike her sisters goes to a madrassah because the education there is for free. Although, she is the third girl her grandmother never wanted and wished she was a boy but she is also the one who is relatively closer to her since she doesn’t go to school and isn’t “liberal” like her sisters. The child actress playing Abida’s role has played her part really well. Sania Saeed’s acting as usual has been effortless and effective. She is convincing and likeable as a mother who does whatever she can for her daughters under the given circumstances. Safeena’s character is likeable but Sonya Hussyn’s hairdo and overall outlook isn’t up to the mark. This character could have been far more impressive had it been translated on screen differently. Having said that, it isn’t difficult connecting to the kind of relationship Safeena and Abida share and the genuine concern Safeena has not just for Abida but for everyone else too. Big Bang should give up this hairstyle for good, it didn’t look good on Saboor in Meeras and it doesn’t suit Sonya either. The production house is coming up with better stories but the supporting actors and the overall feel of their plays needs a makeover.

Meri Gurya Episodes 3 & 4 Review - Highs and Lows!

Although Safeena wanted Dabeer to divorce her whenever he could but now she has realized that she can fulfill her dream while being married to him therefore she has decided to make this relationship work. Dabeer’s withdrawn attitude around her made perfect sense. He was constantly planning his next step and thinking about all the information he had gathered so far. Safeena could tell that there was something wrong with him but she could never even imagine that the person who she thinks needs help, actually needs to be put behind bars. Dabeer mentioned that Jahan Ara’s father used to teach him Quran and he said so in a meaningful manner. I am wondering if he went through a traumatic experience in the past!

In this episode the viewers saw that Abida’s phupo Jahan Ara will ultimately end up “assisting” Dabeer without knowing it. Shehnaz’s close relationship with her daughters has been well established in these four episodes therefore it will be heart-wrenching watching her suffer in the upcoming episodes. The preview of the next two episodes was confusing and it was difficult to tell whether or not Dabeer will be able to execute his evil plan, which is definitely better than knowing exactly what will happen next! So far, Meri Gurya has been a decent watch and I am waiting to see how the story moves forward in the upcoming episodes. The way this drama shows that a murderer and rapist could be a seemingly harmless neighbor is yet another reminder that parents should not trust anyone with their children. Although, Udaari and Muqabil both gave the same message but I do feel that these things should be shown on television repeatedly since there are times when parents tend to overlook such aspects.

How many of you watched these latest episodes of Meri Gurya? Do share your thoughts about it.

Ahad Raza Mir Gets A Heartwarming Wish From Sajal Aly

Ahad Raza Mir‘s debut film ‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’ had it’s trailer launch recently in Karachi. Sajal Aly was seen standing next to the ‘Yaqeen Ka Safar’  co-star Ahad Raza all through the launch and she kept supporting him like any friend would.

Not just that Sajal penned a very heartwarming wish for him too. She took to her social media and wrote,

“I was forced into writing this congratulatory post, not only because of Ahad’s great reveal in Parwaaz Hai Junoon but mostly because of the spark I saw in his mother’s eyes.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk5l6orA_uS/?utm_source=ig_embed

She added,

“I can relate so much to this picture as this was my own mother rooting for me. Mother’s become your first fans, first love, first audience, first critics and only support system. So I have to tell you Ahad, we all may be proud of you but your mother is easily the proudest! Congratulations.”

Looks like this duo is as solid in real life together as they are in reel life. The reel-life couple will be coming back to share screen space with a period drama Aangan, which also stars Mawra Hocane, Ahsan Khan and others.

The festival is a great way to promote Pakistani cinema and a soft image of our country around the world.

Ishq Tamasha Episode 18 Review-Revenge Begins!

This episode has started Mehrab’s revenge spree against Rushna and one more thing it has established is YES! RUSHNA IS SUPER EVIL. Rushna got to know about Arham’s death in the very start and has no reaction to it. She was still indulged in her chocolate covered dreams. Mehrab has also become a constant confusion now. Not letting Rushna’s mother bring breakfast is his idea of taking revenge for his brother’ death? He didn’t even confide in his Phupho who has also suffered an immense loss. Her decision to leave Mehrab was the sanest scene in the whole episode.

Mirha bechari kya kare? Thanda paani pi maray! Yes, Mirha’s situation just reminded me of this nursery rhyme. She just started dreaming about her saviour (kidnapper) Mehrab and all her dreams were shattered in a second. Mehrab’s scheme of sending her back is also non-sensical. Pressurizing your wife to send Mirha back is not going to get Mirha her reputation. And Mirha was s settled in Mehrab’s house. Parr ye bhi Rushna le gayi!

Ishq Tamasha Episode 18 Review-Revenge Begins!

Rushna is a mature girl who knows how to scheme, trap boys and insult anyone. So, she must behave like that too. Her whole behaviour after reaching Mehrab’s house was like that of a child. She had no interest left in Mehrab who was her dream prince. All she wanted was to redecorate and wander around the house. Most annoyingly, she did not even ask Mehrab that why his family does not know about their marriage? And why there are no preparations for a Walima. Rushna is still not miserable. She is still scheming and being a jerk. Hopefully, in the next few episodes, we could see her regretting her attitude.

The whole Palwasha episode is super-weird. The girl is a very good actress indeed but she is too young to get scoldings for Gajras and have affairs with her cousin who is too grown up for her I must add. Aqeela really needs to take a hold of her daughters. They are literally messing up the balance everywhere. And it is high time that Wahaj starts taking practical decisions instead of lounging around and throwing unnecessary sarcasm!

Main Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka Episode 3 Review-Whateven!

This drama started like a high-speed roller coaster and deteriorated at the speed of the lightning. In just three episodes, the makers have forgotten what they were trying to go for. It started as a love triangle where two brothers fell for a single girl. Then we saw the scenario of adoption come into play. The adopted boy sacrificed his love for the sake of his mother’s satisfaction.

Dania is the worst I would say. First, you went blaming only Zaryab for the whole ordeal. She didn’t even try to take matters into her own hand. Then she is seen blaming Armaan. Armaan at least stuck with what he was going for. He divorced the girl and doesn’t want anything to do with her. But now the bechari Dania wants to keep living with a man who has divorced her. What kind of culture or mentality is being promoted here? Even if they wanted to show Dania as a bechari, they could have shown her ordeals after the divorce. But she is living with her ex-husband, making parathas for him. Like WHAT EVEN???

Main Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka Episode 3 Review-Whateven!

Zaryab and Armaan’s encounters are too childish to bear too. When you have already openly said woh tumhari biwi hai, then at least complete the conversation. And Armaan, a guy who divorced a girl in a second and has no regards for the society is waiting to talk openly about it with his brother. Why is he not cleaning up the mess? He didn’t ask Dania when he was divorcing her. So, why is he waiting for her approval to announce it?

The mother’s character is also so poorly etched out. She is trying to make Dania behave as Armaan’s mother or nanny rather than a life partner. At the same time, she is concerned about Zaryab’s marriage. If you loved Armaan so much and you knew he is such a sensitive soul, why you married him off to his brother’s girlfriend in the first place?

Moreover, the performances are so bad throughout this episode. Alamdaar needs serious work on his dialogue delivery as well as his expressions. Even Hareem seemed lost in all her scenes. The lack of depth has literally destroyed this drama in only the third episode.

Yes, many would say I have come harsher on it but they are showing a girl who wants to live with her ex-husband which is ridiculous!

Hareem Farooq Meets Justin Trudeau

On her latest trip to Canada the Parchi starlet had a chance to meet the Canadian Prime Minister Justice Trudeau. The actress deemed it as one of her peak career moments and described Trudeau to be as charming as the media claims.

Hareem Farooq took to her Instagram and penned,

“What a moment ‼️ An all time career high when I got to meet the charming and amazing @justinpjtrudeau as a part of my trip to Canada.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk4sv17gmtd/?utm_source=ig_embed

She went to add that the both conversed about how they can bridge the gaps between two countries through the entertainment industry and art,

“Had a talk about the entertainment industry of Pakistan and how we can work together on bridging the gaps between the two countries with collaborations of films, dramas, music and talent !!”

Hareem Farooq Meets Justin Trudeau

She further explained how much she loves her work and loves being an actress for this line of work brings great opportunities for her,

“Love my job as an actor and producer which opens such doors for me … and love my fans from all over the world whose unconditional love and support helps me keep pushing the boundaries for women in Pakistan.”
