Ayesha Khan has lately being a part of projects which bring about new topics in audiences’ focus. She last was seen as a mother of a transgender child in Khuda Mera Bhi Hai and now she will be seen as the mother of a girl suffering from thalassemia. Alongside her, Gohar Rasheed is also a part of Mer Nanhi Pari. Here are the promos of the show:
This one really looks good. Are you looking forward to it?
Samina Peerzada’s latest show on youtube is a treat to watch and only because of the way Samina conducts her show. She politely asks different questions from her guests and never indulges in too much controversy. Her soft demeanour makes this a must watch celebrity show. So, Momina Mustehsan was also a guest and she told her fans about some interesting facts about her life. Here are some things she shared on the show:
1. Momina comes from an Army background and was born in Quetta. Her family is so scattered all over the globe that it becomes difficult for her to classify herself from initially belonging to a single city.
2. She had her schooling from different parts of the world and is super focused on her education. She is a biomedical engineer and a mathematician as she did her major n these two fields.
3. Her mother and elder brother are both doctors but she wanted to do something different. So, she chose a different field and excelled in it, and got selected for 40 under 40 most successful graduates at her university.
4. Singing is a hobby for Momina and all her family has really good voices too. She was very close to her grandmother and she and her grandma used to sing old songs.
5. She has developed a solar-powered vaccine transport cooler to help carry vaccines for polio which will help on the road to eradicating polio.
Ohkay so, another week, another very interesting & convincing episode of Khudgarz. The reason why I loved watching this episode was the fact that the writer didn’t leave any loose ends because just when I would think something wasn’t taken care of, the writer made sure that wasn’t the case.
Aairah was suffering. The girl who believed in herself was now doubting everything around her. It was suffocating to see everything going wrong for Aairah where Hassan was winning against her & Aairah being someone who keeps everything to herself was keeping every little detail bottled up. Aairah thought resorting to sleeping pills would be fine but sharing everything with someone wasn’t. Unfortunately, Aairah was left alone, she didn’t have her father, she didn’t have Junaid, no one that would at least listen to her & assure her that they believed in her.
Munawwar made some declarations the moment Junaid came back & even though Junaid decieded to do what Munawwar asked him to, like attending the meetings & fulfilling his duties, he didn’t believe a single word that was spoken against Aairah. For the first time, Junaid gave Munawwar a reality check that no matter what, he can’t deny the fact that Hassan can go to any extreme to prove himself right.
To be honest, just when I was getting ticked off by Salma’s helplessness, the writer surprised me pleasantly by showing that Salma decided to stand up for the right too, despite not having much authority. I love the direction & the scriptwriting of Khudgarz for the fact that the viewers are given a little backstory, just when needed. Munawwar never really treated Salma as his wife & he always made sure to let her know that he was only fulfilling his responsibility, due to which in the very early stages of her marital life, she got to know that she will never be allowed to have a voice or any authority. I liked the fact that the writer showed no matter how much mistreatment a woman puts up with, when it comes to her children, she does what it takes to protect them. Junaid got to hear the truth from Salma & because she knew that both Aairah & Junaid were wronged, she not only sympathized with them but decided to support them as well. I loved it when Salma told Junaid to go to Aairah without paying heed to anything else because she will now take care of everything. It was nice to see that no matter how little she could do, she decided to retaliate to show Munawwar that she won’t keep quiet & won’t put up with his attitude!
I really don’t know what to say about Inayat. Even though I had an idea that he will lose his child but still seeing it happen was heart wrenching. It was sad that in the middle of all this, Inayat was a victim as well where Hassan framed him & used him in such a way that he couldn’t say no as he wanted to provide the best of everything to his wife & child. Sadly, Inayat ended up paying a huge price & what’s worse is that he was at the verge of telling everything to Salma but Hassan stepped in!
Abeer provided Aairah with the support that she needed in such a dark phase of her life. Abeer was doing exactly what Aairah did for her & it was nice to see Abeer being by her side. For obvious reasons, Abeer grew suspicious & felt that Aairah was keeping things to herself. Just when I wondered when will Abeer find out about Aairah’s relation with Hassan, that aspect was taken care of as well. Who would know Hassan better than Abeer? She knew that he was the reason why Aairah was suffering so much & decided to let Aairah know that she knows about Hassan now!
To be honest, seeing Junaid getting stuck in one situation after another was hard for me to digest initially. Also, I was unhappy with the fact that both Aairah & Junaid lost contact with each other whereas they always used to stay in touch through the phone so not sure why their timing wasn’t matching or why they were hesitant in calling when they needed each other the most. Even though Hassan kept telling lies but both Junaid & Aairah chose not to believe him despite having some doubts because they knew what Hassan was capable of. I literally sighed with relief when Junaid finally came to meet Aairah & that’s when I realized how amazingly this drama has been directed & how amazingly all the charcters have been written because while watching this episode, I was feeling uneasy seeing Aairah & Junaid struggling & when they both met each other, I felt happy. This shows how convincingly this script has been executed because of which I as a viewer have formed a connection with the characters & seeing them suffer was making me feel suffocated as well!
It is sad that Inayat paid a price for what he did but I so want Munawwar & then Hassan to be facing the consequences too. Even though Munawwar got a little warning from his employees about Hassan & his activities but still that cold hearted fellow chose to doubt & question Junaid, more like trying to turn him into a culprit while being totally aware that his son wasn’t a saint as well!
Hassan thought he scored a win against Aairah & Junaid. All the reasons he gave showed how sickly twisted he is; full of complexes & jealousy. I am sure he won’t be able to get away with everything so easily but since he has Munawwar’s blind support with him, he feels powerful at the moment!
Overall, this episode was phenomenal like all the previous episodes of Khudgarz. Yasir Nawaz surely has outdone himself & I am impressed with his precise approach towards a script like this where he knows how he has to execute certain things & most importantly when & because of that reason, everything is making such an impact, which is amazing. All the actors; Mansha Pasha, Amina Sheikh, Sami Khan & Syed Jibran have outdone themselves. Also, because Salma chose to speak up, I will say Shaheen Khan did a good job too. Please share your thoughts about this amazing episode of Khudgarz.
Hamza Ali Abbasi is an avid Imran Khan fan and a very active supporter of his party; Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf. He was very expressive on social media in favor of Imran Khan for a long time, and then he started anchoring a talk show on Bol Tv which shows his political inclination very clearly. (thewriteofyourlife.org)
However, Hamza’s support to Imran Khan is not limited to politics. He is a very active participant in raising funds for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital. For that reason, he will be joining Imran Khan in Islamabad for a fundraising gala dinner to gather donations needed for continuing services of the cancer hospital.
The dinner is organised at Bahria Enclave for the fourth of February, so if you live in Islamabad or will be there that weekend, you can meet both the super heroes at one place, and all for a good cause.
Ohkay so, this drama is getting the much needed closure but since things are being wrapped up after 40 weeks/episodes, it is not making any impact that it should or would have if they had ended it at the right time!
Nazneen realized her mistake & understood that because she hurt Shahzeb, she failed at love, while completely forgetting that she once hurt Shammo too & got cursed by him. Anyways, Nazneen’s father once again got a chance to over-act now that he got some screen-time after ages! Nazneen met Shahzeb & also Zimmal. It is amusing how easily Nazneen enters everyone’s house as if the world owes it to her? Seriously, she should’ve refused to go to Shahzeb’s place because she is not a bechari anymore seeking shelter, she now has a chance to go back to her parent’s place after being forgiven by Shahzeb!
Shahzeb & Zimmal got married & found their happy ending/beginning. Zimmal got 3rd time lucky & Shahzeb the 2nd time. Finally!
Roshni making a pass at Basit is the most cheap & cringe worthy scenario of this entire drama. I thought Basit would accept her feelings but since he refused, Roshni should’ve let him be but looks like she picked the habit of being annoyingly clingy from Shaheer, considering she spent so much time with him before he hit Arsalan & went to jail. Not only this track is forced & unnecessary, the girl playing the role of Roshni makes it annoying to the core as well!
Rani went to see her mother but didn’t get the apology that she needed. Sad that Guddi got married at such a young age. Not sure why Barkat kept on crying for her daughter the whole time when she couldn’t bring herself to forgive her. Rani’s track & her supposed ending doesn’t interest me anymore. Shammo continues to be a filler & his flashback scene was also poorly done!
If they had cut down on the flashbacks, they could’ve easily wrapped this drama in this episode but oh well. I must say the producers should ask themselves as to what they achieved by ruining & dragging this drama? Nimra Khan, please take some acting classes if you want to pursue a career in acting because you’re really bad at it. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan.
If you have followed the story of Muniba Mazari, you will get to understand how one woman can conquer all the odds, win all the battles and smile through it all. Her troubles are not your mundane everyday ones but those of life, death, paralysis, divorce and infertility.
However, she made lemonade out of all the lemons thrown at her and is now an artist, a celebrity, a philanthropist, included in Forbes 30 under 30 list and above all, a proud single mother.
Last year, she mentioned her ex husband in a TED talk in Malaysia, telling that he was driving the car when the fatal accident took place and jumped out to save his own life. This was met with criticism, recounting of her old interviews which were contradictory to this story and ultimately sued for defamation by her ex husband.
There was a lot of backlash with some people supporting Muniba and some totally turned against her. In a recent Facebook post, she posted the end of this legal battle that she has been cleared of the defamation lawsuit and charges against her dropped.
What a profound moment of joy for Muniba Mazari !!!
Akhri Station is a social awareness mini series, directed by Sarmad Khoosat and starring Sanam Saeed, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Nimra Buccha in the lead roles.
It is backed by Kashaf Foundation and will be a purposeful play highlighting the issues faced by women in our social and culture setup.
The play will be airing on ARY Digital and will serve to address the mental health issues, economic stresses and how they affect the women and children.
Sanam Saeed is playing the role of a depression patient and if we go by her past performances, she will certainly be a very relatable and engrossing character in the drama.
Maya Ali is very generous as far as showing appreciation for talent and acknowledging good work is concerned. Saba Qamar is on the top of her game with Baaghi turning out as a hit and her Bollywood debut film Hindi Medium coming out as the best movie of the year 2017. Maya sent her congratulations to Saba on this success with some beautiful gifts and a card. Here is the friendly exchange between the two actresses:
PSL is back. All Pakistanis will again be under that spell where what matters most are the timings of the next match. And the anthem of the most anticipated event of the year is out and this time too it is sung by Ali Zafar. With the video featuring Ramiz Raja, Shahid Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Malik along with other stars, the video is sure a star-studded one. Get ready for Dil Se Jaan Laga De and watch the anthem here:
And yes Ramiz Raja is playing drums and dancing in case you thought if you imagined it ?
Both Shehroz Sabzwari and Mansha Pasha are parts of big projects airing on our television screens. Shehroz is playing a lead character in Teri Raza while Mansha Pasha is winning hearts in Aangan. Both the stars will be coming together in a new drama Parvarish.
Our dramas are working towards highlighting different issues prevailing in our society. Parvarish is also going to be one with the same objective. It will focus on the standards of upbringing a child and how the parents’ style of upbringing brings a difference to the life of the child as well as society.
Shehroz is playing two lead roles right now and none of them is super popular while Mansha is a part of a very entertaining project. How will Parvarish captivate the audiences? That will be a thing to watch!
Hira Mani has totally transformed herself in person and also professionally. She lost weight to appear in dramas and then she really worked on her acting and did a great job in her serials.
Being a working mother with two kids and a family to run and also work on yourself in this competitive world is no easy feat, so we are totally with Hira as she expressed her pride and joy at becoming the person she is and hopes to become in future.
The girl works hard and plays hard and believes in the striving for her dreams. She has hopes for the future and accepts that her heart might get broken on the way but she is ready to pick up the pieces and move on. Just the type of woman this world needs. Way to go Hira !!
Shehzad Roy is a celebrity who has made a name for himself in everything he has done. His music is loved by millions and his philanthropy is not a hidden thing either. Shehzad is now going to step towards the world of cinema and he will be creatively involved in the projects.
Shehzad has two scripts with him right now, one written by Faisal Qureshi and the other by Anwar Maqsood sahab. Right now he is busy with PSL which is starting in Dubai from 22nd February. After that, he will be involved in the filmmaking. Whether he is going to act in the project or not will depend upon the demand of the script and how the role fits Shehzad.
Fahad Mustafa has come a long way professionally. From getting minor roles to being one of the most expensive actors and game show hosts of today, he is success personified. He is also a doting dad to seven year old Fatima and two year old Moosa.
Recently, he held a birthday party for his kids, attended by stars and their families along with Fahad and Sana’s family and friends.
Here are some of the pictures from the well organised affair. You can spot Benita David and Sunita Marshal and Hassan Ahmed and their kids.
We can see that the birthday boy and girl had a great time. Wishing the cutie pies a very happy birthday.
I have said this many times before but I feel the need to say this again every time I watch an episode of this drama which is extremely complicated yet the director Shahid Shafat makes it a visual treat in an artistic manner. There are many dramas in which the director’s idea of a visually pleasing drama is perfect decor, actors who have the perfect looks and the perfect lighting, Shahid Shafat however clearly has a very different concept of making a drama visually pleasing. He has managed to do so by giving the right treatment to this play which is a major reason why this drama is working for me even now when it has crossed the 20th episode mark. The background score, the subtle yet impactful performances and scenes which are always to the point, make this drama more enjoyable.
Sami Khan’s performance in Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua has been outstanding throughout but tonight’s episode belonged to Imran Ashraf who completely stole the show yet again by breathing life into a really difficult character. Tipu finally let Maya go not because he was scared that she will drag him in court but because that is what Zoya wanted him to do. Even though Zoya did not like it when Maya asked her for this favor but she was more than willing to help Maya, something which was completely in line with her character. When Maya was in that car and by the time she reached Baila’s house, it seemed like for the first time she wasn’t trying to prove something. I am waiting to see a change in Maya’s character since it is long overdue.
Zoya and Tipu’s track took an unpredictable turn since it looked like Zoya wasn’t just feeling sorry for Tipu but she genuinely liked him. Tipu’s reaction and the preview of the next episode however suggested that Tipu is convinced that Zoya and Faris are meant to be together therefore he will continue doing whatever it takes to make sure they end up together. Lubna’s proposal to Faris was yet another surprise! Was she doing this to punish Saif or she really felt that Faris was the right man for her? Right now it seems like both of them are willing to go ahead with this idea because they want to punish Saif. Ayeza Khan performed brilliantly as usual but the whole situation would have been far more convincing if Maya’s parents got a little more screen time in every episode.
The drama is probably going to end soon yet Saif has not done anything tangible to take over Faris and Siraj. Saif has invested more time and energy intervening in Faris’ love life than his business. I wonder if the writer has an unexpected twist in store for the viewers in the upcoming episodes. Zahid Ahmed’s role in this drama doesn’t have a lot to offer and his acting leaves a lot to be desired too. Even at this point, it is impossible to predict what turn the story will take from here on. Right now, I am more interested in what Maya has in store for the viewers than anything else since her reaction to what Tipu did tonight was quite interesting as well as intriguing.
This episode belonged to the director Shahid Shafat and Imran Ashraf in particular. The overall treatment given to this play has been quite impressive throughout. However, it is time to wrap things up and I am looking forward to an interesting ending hopefully sometime soon.
How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.
February the second month of the year 2018 is starting in few days time. This month has one official holiday of Kashmir Day on 5th February. This year Kashmir day is falling on Monday thus making it a long weekend.
Apart from the Kashmir Day, the other notable event in this month is Valentines Day which falls on 14th February. Though not an official holiday, but a number of Bollywood films are lined up every year on the Valentines weekend.
The major sporting event of our country Pakistan Super League (PSL) also starts in the mid of February (15th February) and usually film makers avoid a direct clash with any popular sporting event like this.
Since 2013 with the resurgence of the Urdu cinema, the number of released films in this month are on lower side might be due to the factors like PSL, high number (2-3) of Bollywood films on the Valentine’s weekend. Last year in February 2017 only two Urdu films Balu Mahi and Whistle were released. Though Balu Mahi started decently at the box office but it failed to carry the momentum beyond first week, while Whistle was a washout. The most successful film released in this month since 2013 was Bachaana released on 27th February 2016. Bachaana earned 8 – 9 crore back then despite the direct clash with the first season PSL.
However things look promising this year with a total of four films releasing in February 2018. But perhaps to avoid the clash with the Bollywood releases on the Valentines weekend and PSL and to utilize the long weekend of Kashmir Day all the four films are releasing on the first two weekends of the month. Three out of these four films are releasing on the Kashmir Day weekend, which is a long weekend.
All the four films of this month are of different genres of horror, romcom, independent and animated drama which will provide ample choices to the cine goers to choose one as per their priority.

Allahyar and The Legend of Markhor (ATLOM) is an animated film. Since 2013 very few animated films have been released, which surprisingly have proved quite successful. Gradually it is becoming a popular genre.

So it concludes the introduction of the films coming in February 2018. All the four films are different
Farhan Saeed has ventured into acting now but the star will never leave his musical roots in the industry. He keeps giving us different musical numbers time and time again. This time Farhan has come out with a light-hearted song which can lighten anyone’s mood. While roaming in the streets, Farhan falls in love with his leading lady in the video and you will fall in love with the subtleness of the song. With the start of 2018, it is good to hear new music being added to Pakistani musical industry. Here watch the video:
This Tuesday Pakistani Twitter was enraged when the editor-in-chief of Newsweek Pakistan issued a series of tweets minimising child sexual abuse and made lewd comments to female critics.
Faish Ahmed, a former staff writer at the Wall Street Journal, tweeted:
“The sexual abuse of children will always exist. You can never eliminate it. Sometimes it leads to great art. So there’s also that.”
The comment was Ahmed’s take on the current furore in Pakistan surrounding the rape and murder of 12 children as young as 6 years old by a serial killer in the city of Kasur.
The Newsweek journalist also appeared to think it was a good thing that the killer’s victims were all female, tweeting:
“On the bright side, at least he’s straight.”
Ahmed also made light of rape more generally, joking,
”Rape by, say, Tom Cruise is everyone’s dream come true”,
and suggesting that sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein would be rape but sexual assault by cricketer Imran Khan would not be, “because one is ugly and one isn’t.”
Asked if he would make the same comments about child abuse producing “great art” regarding slavery, Ahmed asserted:
“Slavery did lead to incredible art. No questions there”.
People called him out for making a mockery out of child abuse. Alyssa Milano, the American actress who initiated the #MeToo campaign, tweeted to Newsweek about Fasih.
Recent tweets by Newsweek Pakistan editor @therealfasih do not represent the views of @Newsweek. We are reviewing our relationship with @NewsweekPak, which operates under a license agreement.
Fasih Ahmed also happened to be a board member of Lahore Literary Festival so this sparked a call for a boycott of LLF until Ahmed was removed from the board and later the LLF announced that Fasih Ahmed has resigned from the board of the Lahore Literary Festival.
Ahmed later issued a public apology on Twitter:
My tweets of yesterday were coming from anger, were poorly phrased, and misread. I’m sorry to have upset the people who have survived child abuse. I have been angry at the conspiracy of silence around this evil. #MeToo#StopChildAbuse
Personally I do not understand how those words can be excused in the name of “dark humor” and neither did the rest of the twitter so they didn’t stop until they made LLF remove Ahmed from the board. Let this be a reminder that be it Pakistani Elite or criminals with Political support no one is off the hook and if we stand together we can hold people accountable for their actions. Let it be known that their actions have consequences.
After huge success of this Saba Qamar Irrfan Khan starrer the producers of Hindi Medium have confirmed that the audience will definitely see a sequel. Hindi Medium was nominated in multiple categories at the recent Filmfare awards, including best actress for Saba Qamar. The film bagged two awards, best film and best actor (Irrfan).
Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series are reuniting and the script for Hindi Medium 2 is almost complete as reported by ‘Times Now’. About the project Dinesh said,
“We have just finished typing the second part. We are very excited about it. We need to be very responsible for it because now the film is everybody’s. Now we are happy on the paper. Just finishing touches are being put,”
He further added,
“We started writing immediately after May-June last year. It has taken us 6-7 months to finish. We had structured the first part in a way which can help us go ahead with the sequel because this kind of film deserves one. Also, it’s important to do franchisable films.”
Talking about his film’s success, Dinesh gushed,
“It is a very special film. It had this universal acceptance. It happens very rarely and I hope it happens more and more for the business. You don’t know about these things until you are there. But I am really happy with the way Filmfare has backed good content this year. It gives us a lot of encouragement. It will urge you to work harder. That’s what it’s about. I am really happy.”
Will we see the Mitho-Raj duo reunite for the sequel as well is a question yet to be answered but we are being told the cast will be announced soon. Fingers crossed.
Earlier this week we got to see the cinematic trailer of Rehan Sheikh’s Azad which was pretty intriguing given that nothing much was revealed about the plot and the movie has managed to keep the subtlety maintained in this new song called ‘Tehriye Hazoor’ as well.
The song is an ode to the black and white 60’s era beautifully combined with Jazz music. The song is sung and composed by Schumaila Hussain.
The film stars Rehan Sheikh, Sabreen Hisbani, Salman Shahid and Sanam Saeed. Azad will be making it’s way to big screens on 9th of February.
Khamoshi went totally senseless in this episode both in plot and the emotions expressed. The proposal from Shahram obviously was going to have a very negative effect on Arsala’s life in Bee Jaan’s house and that is what happened too. Nasreen and Zubiya who were introduced as manipulative characters in the drama behaved so irrationally. Why did they throw Arsala out? Because this way not only Shahram will hate them more, Arsala could have an open chance to go and marry him. Zubiya all of a sudden has the insecurity about her looks. Basit finally bowed in front of his wife and spoke against Bee Jaan. Bee Jaan also was behaving very senselessly in this episode and it was boring to watch her like that because she is also the most rational person in the drama after Shahram. Why was she trying to convince Shahram to not go after Arsala when she wanted to see both of them together.
Arsala’s “Main un se itni nafrat karti hoon jitni kisi ne kisi se nahin ki hogi” was plain stupid. She is a girl whose parents abandoned her even before she got married and she was hating Shahram for trying to help her and proposing her? She did not hate Atif until the very end and also gave many chances to her sister who was calling her characterless but she started hating Shahram for proposing her. Also, she did not go back and did not even try to call them. She already knows they are after her character and still she disappears for no reason at all. Zubiya and Nasreen are the ones who threw her out and there is no reason to not tell the others about this situation.
Shahram is the only character whose mind did not go off at writer’s hands in the episode. He is functioning properly and is leaving no stone unturned to get to Arsala. He even openly told Bee Jaan that she does not care about Zubiya and Nasreen. He has also gotten the NGO name where Arsala is right now but since its Khamoshi, he may not get to her in the next 2 or 3 episodes or so.
Naima has started her wicked tactics with her mother in law too. And her and Atif’s track has gone too boring to watch. All I wanted was to change the channel whenever she comes up on screen because there is nothing new there, not even the dialogues. The same wicked wife and the same whiny husband.
Looks like the next episode will also just be a drag in the story with Naima going off with allegations on Arsala (again!). Stay tuned for more!
So this week we saw this new drama called Umm E Haniya. It is certainly a promising one but had its flaws too. There are mainly three families at play here. First one is Romi’s who has a very supportive father played by Hashim Butt and a very typical and strict mother played by Rabia Noreen. Then there is her fiancé Kamil’s family who is also her bhabi’s brother. Wasim Trimzi is playing the role of Kamil. The third family is Rohan’s who is a close friend of Romi’s. Daniyal Afzal is playing Rohan and his deceased wealthy father had forcefully gotten him engaged to Rohan’s sister’s nand but he is in love with his secretary Saba. This has created a deep conflict between him and his mother and sister who are not willing to accept Saba at all.
Neelam Munir is a great choice for the protagonist of this story. She is giving perfect expressions for a girl who knows and respects her family values yet wishes to pursue her dreams as a cricketer. Thankfully, she is not like those liberal feminists who are rude and obnoxious to prove gender equality. She is a sweet girl who genuinely believes in the power of her dreams and wants to work hard for them. She does not want to let marriage and being a girl come in the way of her aspirations, and it was really encouraging to see her father and fiancé totally supportive of her decision despite her mother and future mother in law’s narrow mindedness. That’s all very realistic since it’s usually the women who are stopping other women from reaching their full potential.
The other characters however are not very convincing. Because so many stories have started all at once, only Romi’s seem refreshing. Rohan and his family are all quite lame and so is Saba. The actors playing these roles also seem to be doing a halfhearted job. Despite the enormous wealth Maham and Rohan’s dad have left them, the siblings have not had too much of an upbringing, which is quite evident from the way their mother’s personality is shown. It was good to see Saba growing a spine in the later part of the play otherwise we would be left surprised what Rohan saw in her lovestruck eyes and quivering lips. Good for them to start a life away from the scornful and terribly mean Maham and her mother.
The plot that Maham was immediately divorced because Rohan married Saba was outdated and done to death already. It seems all the families in the drama do watta satta since Kamil who is Romi’s fiancé is also her sister in law’s brother. But maybe they are showing this level of conservatism to show how Romi will take such a big decision to adopt that abandoned child in such orthodox environment.
All in all, it seemed an interesting play with an interesting start. Just hoping that the supporting cast will improve their acting in future episodes.
Saad and Hani finally met in this episode and the way this reunion was covered was absolutely flawless. Apart from some of the scenes which were stretched yet again, this episode as a whole was filled with meaningful scenes which gave the viewers an insight into what all these characters were going through at the moment. The background score was intoxicating throughout and the flashback scenes yet again were used effectively. The opening scene of this episode was detailed and covered a great deal from Saad’s first impression to his final judgment about what kind of a relationship Salar and Hani had.
Saad and Salar’s meeting, Saad knowing the truth even though Hani tried her best to hide it, Hani’s time alone and Tania’s rising curiosity were the highlights of this episode. The opening scene showed why Saad felt the need to go and see Hani right away; he could tell that there was something wrong when he heard his mother complaint how Hani did not stay in touch with her family any more. Saad’s mature approach this time around showed just how much he had changed. Although he still loved Hani just the way he did so many years back and he could also tell that Hani wasn’t happy with Salar but even then he did not get too emotional. Hani’s body language and expressions said a great deal about how she felt when Salar touched her; this was definitely not love but she was really scared of this man. The scene in which she entered her room and remembered all the beautiful moments she had shared with her best friend but reacted very differently when she came across Salar’s portrait was one of the most brilliantly directed and beautifully written scenes of this episode. When Hani made that sketch she was head over heels in love but now when she looked at it, it was almost as if she realized how wrong her opinion about this man was. The few scenes which covered Salar’s behavior towards Hani after their marriage couldn’t have been more to the point yet they managed to get the message across quite clearly. Also, Saad’s observation when he entered Hani’s house and few of his dialogues said a great deal about his accurate assessment about Salar’s personality. Sadia Khan performance was up to the mark tonight which made it easier for me to connect to her character. Uzair Jaswal has been underplaying Saad’s character right from the get-go which makes it even more likeable.
Tania had no idea that Hani was the love of Saad’s life therefore their conversations were quite interesting. The fact that Saad did not even mention Hani to Tania all this time went to show that he was never close to Tania which makes me wonder how long this relationship will last. Tania loves Saad the way he loves Hani therefore it won’t be surprising if she is willing to do whatever it takes to make him happy. Tania’s character is an interesting addition to Hani and Saad’s track since she is quite likeable. Mahpara’s scenes once again showed how she felt every time she met Shehryar or perhaps every time someone was getting married! The scene covering Shehryar and Mahpara’s meeting was stretched a lot and it didn’t have anything new to offer. While I understand Mahpara’s character and it has always made perfect sense but so far it doesn’t have a bigger role to play in the picture and her scenes always focus on one aspect of her personality.
Shayyad has managed to achieve what Bin Roye couldn’t by translating the story of undying love on screen in an impressive manner. These two plays have some similarities but Shayyad is a clear winner because of its solid storyline in particular as well as characters which are easy to connect to. Saad and Hani’s love story gets more interesting and intriguing with every passing episode and you can’t help rooting for them.
The preview of the next episode showed how Hani’s married life actually was like. Waiting to see more of Nauman Ijaz and can’t wait to find out what Saad is going to do next!
How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Do share your thoughts about it.
Ohkay so, it was yet another interesting episode of Aangan. The pace is great & since the writer has so much to tell & convey, you really never get bored because so much is happening for everyone to relate to. I enjoy watching Aangan, definitely for direction, acting, characters & situations but also for the fact that you can’t really keep track of time while watching its episodes. It sure is a treat to watch with everyone excelling in their respective jobs!
The highlight of this episode was Hajra & all that she said & did. Firstly, she steered Zaitoon clear of the misunderstanding that she had about Hajra’s pregnancy. Though that conversation was amusing but the best thing for me was that the moment Hajra found out that both Abba Jee & Zaitoon had no idea about what Hajra & Sajjad were expecting, Hajra hurried in informing Sajjad about it so that he stops feeling bitter about his parent’s ignorance which actually was their oblivion!
I loved the conversation Hajra had with Faseeha. She not only tried to tell Faseeha her perspective but also told her to stop judging Zoya because for her both Shaina & Zoya were the same. Hajra very well knows what her position is in the house & what everyone expects from her. It is like Hajra has tuned herself to fix things for everyone without them even knowing because she sees it as her responsibility. Even though Aqdas told his mother that he won’t be getting married to Zoya, he still didn’t hold back in letting her know that her reasons for refusal were unconvincing!
I found Laila’s offer to gift Zoya her jewellery really sweet. Even though she felt a little sad when she heard Rubina’s plans of saving her jewellery for her kids, she immediately snapped out of it & told Zaitoon what she had on her mind, which was beautiful.
Oh well, Zahid is giving Laila a hard time. Obviously, since Zahid is so used to making excuses for not working, he is nitpicking & magnifying every little detail to earn himself a termination letter but Laila is still putting up with him. At least Rubina is the voice of reason in their family unit & she once again reminded him of his responisibility which he had towards Zoya, since now her wedding was in talks.
Aqdas’s proposal not only made Zoya happy but his guidance & support also served as a boost of confidence, because of which she decided to publish her stories using her own name. It showed that Zoya actually wanted someone to put faith in her & just a few conversations here & there with Aqdas did it for her. Zoya could obviously feel the change in Aqdas’s tone but Shaina told her that everything was going to be alright. No matter what the circumstances are, Zoya & Shaina’s discussions about everything are a treat to watch. Finally Faseeha gave up & agreed for Aqdas’s marriage with Zoya. It was sweet that she accepted the fact that Zoya made her son happy & she decided to curb her dislikes.
Another highlight of this episode was a small but meaningful conversation between Hajra & Sajjad about Laila & Asim, where Hajra told Sajjad to ask whether Asim has had his tests done or not. I am sure this aspect was deliberately but rightfully added by the writer because this thing is prevalant in our society where everyone blames a woman for the delay in having a baby but everyone gives a clean chit to the man. It sure was a nice addition to the set of messages this drama imparts!
Well, the preview of the next episode suggested that hardships are far from being over for both Aqdas & Zoya. I really can’t wait to see that loud & vibrant wedding which we are shown in the OST. Sadaan & Afrah’s scenes & conversations are a bit too repetitive. Even though they get a very limited screen time but since Afrah’s proposals is all that they talk about, it makes their scenes unnecessary. Irsa Ghazal is the star of this show & it is commendable that she has given such a perfect treatment to Hajra’s character, not sure if anyone else could’ve done a job so well. I love Iffat Omar’s acting too & Uzma Hassan is doing a wonderful job as well. I really enjoyed watching this episode & can’t wait to see more. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aangan.
Mere Bewafa is an upcoming play with the popular on and off the screen couple Agha Ali and Sarah Khan as the male and female leads.
Agha Ali has also recently started singing and released his own video album, again starring Sarah Khan. This time he has paired up with Aima Baig to sing the OST of Mere Bewafa drama. It’s called Duhayiaan and the music is composed by Qasim Azhar. Agha Ali has written the lyrics himself too.
With Agha Ali who has enthusiastically become a singer with the hashtag ab music ki bari and Aima Baig who has established a name in the music industry, it will definitely be interesting to hear how the duo sound together.
Ohkay so, just when I was thinking about this entire journey like from where it began to where it has come now, the only apt description that came to my mind about it was ‘tasteless chewing gum’. I still remember how everyone including me in the beginning was raving about the ‘flavors’ that this drama had but look what has happened to it, a perfect example is that of chewing gum which loses its taste after being eaten for a while & loses its elasticity as well after being stretched too far & that my friends is what O Rangreza has reduced to!
I mean seriously, what do we have to do by seeing this anoki pagal family in financial crisis? Tipu spent money & then the entire family was going mad about it? If that was the case, why didn’t anyone bother keeping a check on Tipu before, especially Qasim with the help of Meena because Meena had spent enough time with Tipu to know that he was upto something? Qasim sirf hinhinanay aur minminanay ke liye rakha hua tha kya? Also, I must say the editing of this episode was just so baddd!!!
Now that Qasim is out of his kurtas & into his small sized dress shirts, his character has still shown zero growth. Yes, he was a kind hearted person before & he is a kind hearted person now too but still, some authority some command over things? All he did was send Tipu away & that’s it? What about all the other storms that have surrounded this family?
Oh dear, the amount of screaming that Mumtaz did left a hole in my ear I am pretty sure. Once again, Mumtaz found an easy way out; now that Sassi is crossing all the boundaries, she easily blamed Sonia for it? Ummm how about blaming your loser husband who was smitten by heroine & her adayein? Because he is the one who helped Sassi getting fascinated by Sonia Jahan. In the beginning Khayyam still showed some concerns about Sassi & the path that she was walking on but now, his aloofness is not only bizarre but idiotic too!
Psychotic Psyssi (Sassi) was now being conscious of her izzat without even thinking for a second before walking into a man’s house just like that? I am all for feminism but seriously, what the writer here is showing is totally twisted. I totally believe that Wajih should have stayed in his limits too but that implies on Psyssi as well. They can’t just show Wajih in a wrong light when Psyssi is equally responsible for giving Wajih the edge in the first place. There are certain boundaries that need to be respected by everyone irrespective of the gender, so not sure what the writer is trying to achieve here by showing Psyssi’s bebaaki & Wajih’s gandi neeyat!
I also don’t understand what is Psyssi’s issue with Sonia Jahan, like why is she torturing her & why has she turned against her? Sonia never said anything to her but is psychotic Psyssi se kya expect karna. Also, Psyssi is now getting jealous of Meena? Why? As far as I know, she was free from any such typical emotions to abb kya hua?
By showing everyone becoming a fan of Meena, the writer has contradicted himself. He was showing Psyssi as a strong, bold, unapologetically herself sort of a person who wanted to live life on her own terms, so why didn’t he show that even by being like that, she proved herself right & earned everyone’s support, respect & validation? Akhir mai to yehi dikhaya na ke typical si larki jo apni hadh mai rahay, khidmatain karay, ghar se kaam karay uske hi numbers bantay hain? LOL! I’m pretty sure the writer lost his chain of thought & forgot about what he wanted to show initially, hence the contradiction because even though Psyssi has fulfilled her dream, she has lost a place of hers in everyone’s heart, so kya faida hua writer ka kuch so called unique dikha ke?
Seriously, they should just end this drama & I am sure no one can deny the fact that O Rangreza has lost the purpose, it has lost the charm & has now turned out to be such a drama which people will only be associating one word with; bakwas. Please share your thoughts about this episode of O Rangreza.
It is a very famous quote that Whats in a name. You will believe it until you start watching Pakistani dramas. We are people whose religion also asks the parent to give their children beautiful names. So, we do know the importance of names. Right? I think the answer is no for some people who name their “baby projects” in a way that they would be bullied throughout their run and sadly (and honestly) they deserve the criticism. So here are some names which I found rather disturbing because they just not leave a good impression:
Main Maa Nahin Banna Chahti:
Go sit with your family and suddenly say it in a loud voice. Yes, you can try this even if you are a man because it is that awkward. I know it is just a name but still one does not even want to say it. The name alone was enough to make me not watch this drama. Though I did see a few episodes and you know it was all about maa banna. Everyone is not planning for a baby, I understand that too but trust me no one wants to say it. And that is the reason this drama got a lot of criticism on its launch promos because of this name.
Janam Jali:
Amna Ilyas, Juggan Kazim and Azfar Rehman starrer Janam Jali also focused on baby problems. The name of this drama was again extremely off-putting. Such an ugly, stupid and abusive name that leaves the character unattractive, even the viewers’ confidence will get shattered. One does not use this word until he/she is really out if their senses due to anger or grief and here we have it as a title to our drama.
Karam Jali:
Yes, another Jali in the list. This one aired on A Plus and I did not even know about it till I started assembling the list of some most horrendous names I have seen as drama titles. I myself was only aware of two Jalis but apparently there was a third and apparently, there were preferring sons over daughters problem going on this one. So, they thought a girl not wanted by her father should be a Karam Jali.
Naseebon Jali:
I see a pattern here now. So the makers are consciously choosing these abusive names as titles? This one is afresh drama airing on HUM TV. Why make a whole project, invest in it and at the end name it like some burnt stuff? I am not watching this one either but you will agree the name is again very off-putting.
Kambakht Tanno:
Like a lot of Jalis were not enough on screen, so they decided to add a Kambakht too. What is this name now? I am not a hardcore feminist and I find it offensive. Are there dramas like Naseebon Jala or Kambakht Parvez or anything like that? NO! We only make Naseebon Jalis and Kambakht Tannos. Such a bad name for a title.
Kal Moonhi:
Listening to this name what you will get are negative thoughts. And think about it both ways and you will get a bad taste in your mouth. The first thought that comes to one’s mind is a woman who is not fair and is it that bad to have dark skin that you are using it as a taunt? And even in the second way, if it is because of someone’s character, it is still so racist and off-putting. Urdu is a vast language and the desired expression can be expressed in many other ways rather than calling someone Kal Moonhi.
These are the names which make a viewer run away before even giving a chance to a project. There are many which keep coming out and haunt us in our dreams. Any others that come to your mind? Do share in the comments section!
Linkin Park is a name as familiar as home to every music lover worldwide, naturally the passing of Chester Bennington in summer last year left the whole world in tears and with an unfillable void.
Alamdar Khan, a Pakistani singer, recently released a video singing a cover of Linkin Park’s famous song Crawling. Set in a black and white backdrop, the video features Khan and some clips from Bennington’s last performance.
Khan has been into music for a long time. Talking to The Express Tribune, he revealed that Linkin Park is a major part of his life and interest in music.
“My cousin and I were jamming to Linkin Park’s song after Bennington had passed away and we thought of recording it. But he was flying back to the US soon so I got in touch with Sarmad Ghafoor, who recorded the song for us.”
Post recording, Khan thought of shooting a video as well so he got back in touch with Ghafoor and filmed it.
“All of this happened in the span of a few days. No one from our side of the world had paid a tribute to Bennington so I took it upon myself to honour him,”
Bennington passed away in July 2017. The singer was suffering from depression and committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in California. With his tribute, Khan aims to educate people about mental disorders as well. He explained,
“Mental illnesses are still considered a taboo in Pakistan. If you go see a shrink, people start to think you are crazy. So we’re trying to raise awareness that it is okay to go see a psychiatrist and get help,”
We hope more people take mental illnesses as seriously as they take cancer or AIDS and the world doesn’t have to lose another Chester Bennington or Robin Williams or Kurt Cobain to a mental illness.
Mahira Khan has seen the highs and lows of her life last year, 2017 has been one hell of a roller coaster ride for the ‘Bol’ starlet but we can all agree on one thing becoming the first Pakistani actress to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan has been the highlight of her year.
Today marks the one year anniversary of ‘Raees’ so Mahira Khan took to her Twitter and Instagram and shared some rare unseen on screen and off screen pictures from the film.
Mahira Khan and Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Raees’ was a hit last year, people not only loved SRK in a not so romantic gangster avatar but also want to see him return to the big screens soon with a sequel.
Recently when a German firm gave a list of most pirated films of 2017 ‘Raees’ topped that list that is when Rahul Dholakia the director tweeted and said,
“#Raees most Pirated film of the 2017. Now how does one react to this?”
To which producer Ritesh Sidhwani replied,
“Look at the brighter side the audience we have for the sequel #RaeesReturns.”
Look at the brighter side the audience we have for the sequel #RaeesReturns
Sequel to #Raees ? #RaeesReturns 🙄 But He died in the Climax. Wait , are you thinking about His Child 🤔 Faizan ? Revenge or kind of that ? Idea is nice han 😉😉 https://t.co/nEkU6z5FGX

Noor ul Ain is one of the most anticipated upcoming dramas.. and why wouldn’t it be? Imran Abbas and Sajal Ali are both raging popular these days.
The play just released its first promo, which shows the dynamics between the duo. It looks as if Sajal as Noor ul Ain is the twin of Sassi and Imran Abbas is playing a role like Bilal Abbas Khan from O Rangreza. Sajal, the arrogant, confident and supremely outspoken Noor and Imran Abbas as her lover who is docile, meek and totally head over heels in love with her. This is what you gather from the first promo. It could be that the drama itself will tell a whole different story.

Let us know in the comments if you also find a stark resemblance with the lead characters of O Rangreza from this promo.
Ohkay so, I am going to ask a very serious & important question ke writer ne kya kha ke Suhana ka character likha tha? I mean seriously, one can only say Tauba after seeing what this psychotic character is upto!
When I saw Suhana shedding tears I felt like throwing a punch on her face. She used to cry before, saying that her parents weren’t treating Rameez & Co. with respect, fine & now when her parents invited them over for dinner & treated them like a family, Suhana was again crying for a new set of reasons that she doesn’t want to go back, like seriously??? Does she even know how to be happy? Rameez was her so called happiness for which she forsake everything but now just because she has realized that Rameez was not an ideal & financially loaded man, the writer is giving her a clean chit, for what? Just because she has realized & apologized???
I think now that we have such weirdly named dramas like ‘Naseebon Jali’, ‘Mai Ma Nahi Banna Chahti’, no one would have batted an eyelid if the writer had named this drama as ‘Shadi Aik Gudda Guddi Ka Khel’, at least that would’ve made things crystal clear as to what the viewers should expect before tuning to this drama because this is exactly how Suhana is treating her marriage(s)!
Uf! This was the same father Suhana kicked out of her life because he called out on Rameez but now Suhana is like sticking to him, because she knows that only he is the one who can give her a luxury-laden life? If Suhana had known that her family wasn’t financially sound, she would have thought a million times before making a decision of leaving Rameez. No matter what her reasons are but she is acting like a typical rich spoiled brat who knows no matter what, she can do whatever she wants as her father is there.
It is amusing that now when Suhana has assessed Rameez & she has seen that he can’t even achieve an iota of wealth that Imtiyaz or Zafar have, she is now seeing him as a big mistake? Is she for real? When did Suhana Bibi become so practical that she decided to put everything before her feeling of ‘love’ for which she literally ruined everyone’s life & happiness!?!?! Suhana says she is sorry & does she really think that is going to be an excuse enough for another stuffed up marriage? LOL! I guess she was so adamant to have Rameez Badtameez respected, that she forgot to bring out the best in him & patiently teach him how to be responsible!
Seema & Jeena both need to get a life. They act like bunch of sore insecure losers who are obsessed with Suhana but then again, since the writer here is giving Suhana a clean chit every single time, no wonder why both Seema & Jeena are paranoid & dread that Suhana might come as a tsunami & wipe away their happiness!
I think if the writer really wants to convey a right message by showing what happens if someone goes against the Will of Allah, she should give Suhana a miserable ending where everyone else around is happy & settled & she is the one sulking alone, but I am pretty sure this won’t be happening as now the writer will show that by committing Halala, Suhana finally accepted Allah’s Raza after trying, testing & failing at her own raza. Seriously, hideousness just touched a sky! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Teri Raza & I wish both Shehroz & especially Sanam had used their vocal chords miserly because their high pitched voices are intolerable!
Lux Style Awards are among the most anticipated award shows in Pakistan, celebrating the forerunners in media, glamour and style.
Last year, Hassan Shehryar Yasin or as renowned, HSY had directed the ceremony after replacing Frieha Altaf and gained enormous appreciation for the way the function was carried out.
This year however, less than a month before the award show is expected to take place, it has been announced by HSY’s Team that he will not be directing the show this time. The message reads;
“With this message we want to inform you that Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY) will not be directing LSA 2018. His decision is due to budget constraints against his creative vision given”.
So apparently, his ideas are out of Lux Style Award’s organisers’ budget. So they must have chosen a directer who can conduct the show less expensively and more economically. Let’s wait and see who that new creative genius is going to be.
The best of the wedding season has mostly passed but it’s far from over. Till our weather continues to be coolly pleasant, wedding bells will keep on ringing.
From the showbiz, the latest marriage news is that actor Asad Mehmood got nikahfied with model Sarah Shehzad in a private ceremony. Both the bride and groom dazzled in white formals;
After losing Zainab to a heinous crime, the society slightly woke up from its slumber and decided to talk about the most disgusting issue of our society: Child Abuse! Yes, it is not new. Yes, people have been suffering from it since ages. And with Zainab’s tragedy at least everyone started talking about even if it is just for a while. Many celebrities came forward and shared their opinions on the situation. The boss ladies of our entertainment industry Nadia Jamil, Frieha Altaf and Maheen Khan should be applauded who came forward and shared their experience. Who talked about it with bravery and raised awareness that yes people it is happening and educate your child, talk about it. Farah Sadia is may be the only morning show host who did not make a drama out of this situation. She has done awareness programs about it. Frieha Altaf came in Farah’s show and told her story. It takes extreme courage to talk about this in our society if it has happened to you. But she did and pointed out that it is prevalent in every class of the society.
She also talked about her mother’s reaction towards the tragedy and openly shared that how this situation moulded her mind and how she suffered from it years after too and all this because the issue was never properly addressed. Here is what Frieha said on Farah’s show:
It is commendable how the victims who were once a victim are coming out and trying to raise awareness, trying to do their part and trying to help save others.
No one can doubt that Amir Liaquat Hussain is one of the biggest newsmakers of Pakistan. Be it AAm Khaayega or bashing his previous place of work, he stays in news and always finds a way to share his opinions with the public through morning shows, Ramadan transmissions and news talk shows. Recently though Amir has been banned by PEMRA from all sorts of airing media including TV channels and FM radio.
So after getting a ban from all media, Amir has launched his own news website on 14 January. The site will showcase all the viral news and Amir’s take on them in the shape of written columns and videos. The site features categories like business, technology and showbiz too. The website is in Urdu.
Let us see whether Amir’s site gets to some place like his shows or goes unnoticed!
