This year will see some mega releases and among them is Yasir Nawaz’s Wrong No.2. The prequel Wrong No. was a hit and was nothing short of a dark horse as it surprised many by its numbers. The director then went on to make Mehrunnisa V Lub U, which got a lot of criticism for its content but still showed good numbers. Now, it is time for Wrong No.2 and the first look poster is out. The film has Neelam Muneer and Sami Khan in the lead roles while we will also watch Javed Sheikh, Ahmed Hassan and Danish Nawaz in some pivotal roles. Wrong No.2 will be released on Eid ul Fitr 2019 and will clash with the most anticipated movie of the year, The Legend of Maula Jatt.

This is going to be a full-fledged comedy so obviously totally different content than Maula Jatt. The trailer release will show what we are getting with Wrong No.2.

The year 2019 is going to see many releases and is already looking like a good year for Pakistani cinema, at least quantity wise. A mystery film which was announced a few months back is Laal Kabootar. Laal Kabootar has names like Mansha Pasha, Ali Kazmi and Ahmed Ali Akbar attached to the cast.

Laal Kabootar is a crime drama and is based basically in Karachi. It will revolve around Mansha’s character and the teaser already looks interesting. A new poster of the movie has been released where we can see both Mansha Pasha and Ahmed Ali Akbar in their character avatars and the film’s release date is out too.

Laal Kabootar will be released on 22nd of March and will probably clash with Sherdil, an army movie tarring Armeena Khan and Mikaal Zulfiqar, however, the release date for the latter has not been announced yet!

Farah Sadia is a morning show host for years now. To be accurate, Farah is the most decent morning show host and her content is always better than her contemporaries. The tension between Pakistan and India finally ended with a ban on Pakistani artists. Mostly that was the most affected side in the spat. Many artists like Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar who were doing really well there were banned from taking up any more projects.

The ban has been going on for quite some time now and singer Shafqat Amanat Ali has spoken about it. The singer has a huge fan following across the border and while speaking to an Indian news agency he expressed that the ban came on artists only because they are a soft target. This is what he had to say:

“Art and entertainment industry is a soft target. They know that they can’t fight back, so just ban it. It is very easy. Otherwise, there is lot of trade that is happening between India and Pakistan. If you go to the Attari-Wagah border, one can see trucks bringing goods and exchanging goods from both the sides. That import and export business is running full-fledged, If we stop that, it would lead to chaos. But they know that if they put a ban on artistes or actors or people who are related to art, they will express themselves through media or social media platforms. Nothing else.”

He also said that he misses performing in India:

“Of course, I do. If you talk to people who visited Pakistan to support their team in the last India-Pakistan match, (they will say) they went back after a very emotionally charged trip. They were given so much love. And we also received a lot of love, respect and appreciation for our work in India. I miss performing in India and it is high time that they lift the ban.”

Plagiarism in every field is s a common thing all over the world. From writing to scripts to designing, plagiarism happens everywhere and millions of times go unchecked and uncalled. A similar incident just happened when Republic by Omar Farooq’s official account posted a picture of a design claiming t as theirs while it originally belonged to Sadaf Fawad Khan’s SFK Bridals. SFK Bridals called out the action on their social media:

Republic by Omar Farooq was soon to realize the mistake and posted an apology with the explanation that an enthusiastic employee it while thinking that the design was actually by the Republic. The explanation was posted on the Republic’s official page:

The matter seems to be resolved now and it was definitely great at Republic’s behalf to accept the mistake and follow it with an explanation!

Depression is a major problem that is becoming a part of the lives of many. Many celebrities have suffered from the awful situation and have opened up to the world raising awareness and helping people realize this dilemma. Recently, star Mohsin Abbas Haider tweeted about his battle with depression. The actor has had a very bad time in his personal life when he lost his mother and his newborn daughter.

He always appears to be a very jolly fellow as he plays the DJ at the popular show Mazakraat but he opened up on Samina Peerzada’s show. The actor recently tweeted that how he is feeling like the depression will end his life and has received so much support from colleagues and fans. It is so brave of Mohsin to come out and speak about his depression. We wish the actor speedy recovery from his pain. Mohsin has shown the world how opening about mental health is important and we wish the actor finds peace soon!

Ali Saleem has always made waves and news due to different reasons. He used to host a show where he would pose as Begum Nawazish Ali. He used to interview celebrities and people loved his show hands down due to his unique style of interviewing. Ali since then has been a part of Big Boss in India where he also got a lot of fame and we have seen him in the news for different cases.

The celebrity host has been laying low since then and is now all set to make a comeback with a web series. We will see him again in his signature Begum Nawazish Ali avatar and he will be interviewing the most loved stars of the industry. Morning shows which started as something as fun and light to watch in the morning slowly became so annoying that you could not even swallow them without cringing. Our morning shows became a 2-hour parade of wedding gowns and makeup and saas-bahu drama every day. People have been cringing on them now too.

Well, Shaista Lodhi who began the culture of morning show Shaadis has announced that she is not doing those shows again and was finally able to speak what she really thought while she was hosting them. While talking to Images, she said:

“I started off the trend for weddings on shows, I’m the culprit but then it all went overboard. Even in a wedding-centric show, channels can abide by certain limits but that rarely happens. One of my very last shows was themed round how to get married in simplicity, within a small budget. It was a topic that I felt could be very helpful for viewers. But many times before, while enduring long wedding ceremonies on TV, I would wonder to myself what I was doing. I have hosted morning shows on veritably every major channel in Pakistan and, on every set, there is this pressure to win the ratings race. Often, as hosts, we end up negating our own personalities. We don’t want to wear heavily embellished clothes and slather on make-up early in the morning and shout and yell through a wedding ceremony. I’m a doctor and when I would sit next to a guest who would declare that depression could be cured by eating okra, I would cringe within. I would wonder if someday my medical license would be taken away because I was allowing unqualified people to speak out in my show.”

She further explained she had to do the shows because she was a single mother:

“Perhaps I’m able to say all this now because I’m no longer hosting a show. I got tired of it a long time ago but I couldn’t back out because I was a single mother at the time who had bills to pay. Now that I could leave the business, I immediately did so.”

So, Shaista Lodhi has retired from morning shows, Sanam Jung just left hers and Sanam Baloch is also out from the race leaving Nida Yasir to be the only veteran in the business. As PEMRA has directed channels to improve their content too, let’s see whether it happens or not as the change is coming at least in the hosts!

Reema Khan is the most successful actress from the old Lollywood. She made a special place for herself and people still love her. Wajahat Rauf is also among the filmmakers who started making films and rebuilding the film industry once again. The producer/director has made two movies, the road trip comedies Karachi Se Lahore and Karachi Se Lahore 2. He has also ventured into the world of web series with his latest venture Enaaya starring Mehwish Hayat, Azfar Rehman, Faryal Mehmood and Asad Siddiqui. Meanwhile, the director recently posted a picture of both Zara Noor Abbas and Mehwish Hayat announcing his third film whose title is not yet announced.

The director has previously talked about making Karachi Se Lahore 3 which was put on hold. However, now he has announced that the third instalment is never happening. He was talking to Instep where he confirmed that there will be no third film in the series since he does not want to become repetitive:

“We tried giving it a shot; we had the script and the cast but I felt it was repetitive, something we’ve seen before. I didn’t want people to feel like they’re watching my last two films again, with the same characters, plot twists, I felt like I needed more than that, so I had another story with me for over a year now and I wrote its dialogues immediately. Mehwish read it, and felt it was good stuff. My wife, Shazia read it and felt it was the right mix of comedy, emotion and had a message too. So with such positive feedback, I went ahead with it.”

The third film will release this year!

Depression is probably becoming the fastest spreading disease in the 21st century. People all over the world have suffered from the fatal condition due to the increased pressures of living and unhealthy environment. Celebrities all over the world are looked as people with perfect lives. They are known to have money and all the luxuries one’s heart could desire. But they are also the ones with sensitive hearts and are known to fall into dangerous depression. Many stars have taken their lives thus leaving the world in shock. Stars like Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga and Deepika Padukone have spoken about how they have fought their depression.

Our very own star Mohsin Abbas Haider has also been through a very trying time in his personal life. The actor lost his mother and infant daughter in a very close frame of time and has been in a depression since then. He opened up about his feelings in Samina Peerzada’s show too. Mohsin’s latest tweet left people shocked as the actor expressed how low he has been feeling:
