Jugnoo – Episode 06!

Ohkay so, it was another humour filled episode of Jugnoo which showcased new set of problems that are about to enter Jugnoo’s life & that makes it engaging enough as I’m interested to know how she will deal with everything & everyone on her own.

It’s actually quite sad that as much as both Shahjahan & Jugnoo want to move out of Khala Jahangir’s house, they are forced to stick with her because of the tough circumstances. Khala Jahangir actually may pose a lot about being courteous towards her younger widow sister & her niece but in actual, she is bound to help them because going by what Jugnoo said, Shahjahan has helped Khala Jahangir’s sons in settling abroad. Khala Jahangir is someone who can never be nice to anyone but to see her tolerating both Shahjahan & Jugnoo; who she believes has a ‘das gaz lambi zubaan’ actually shows that she is indebted to them & even if she doesn’t want to help them, she can’t deny the favour Shahjahan did for her sons. It was odd to see Khala Jahangir treating Shahjahan as a substitute of Jugnoo by asking her to take care of the household chores. I actually like how easily all these ladies find a way out of everything & most of the times, how swiftly they pull themselves out of a certain situation that they don’t want to be involved in.

So, as far as Jugnoo & Zulfi’s marriage is concerned, the cat’s out of the bag now because Baba Sahab paid a visit to Zulfi with the intention of surprising his beloved son but instead he ended up getting the biggest surprise & a shock of his life. Baba Sahab obviously has double standards because on one hand he suggested that Zulfi should’ve treated Jugnoo as a time pass & on the other he cannot accept a divorcee as his daughter in law. He may allow Zulfi to befriend as many girls as he likes but he hasn’t given him an edge to marry a girl of his choice because like a typical patriarch, his daughter-in-law’s family background & status means a lot to Baba Sahab.

I must say I like Jugnoo’s character for the fact that even though her life has never been smooth, she never lets anything knock her down. She always holds her head high & is always ready to fight with anything odd that comes her way. She may go on an emotional spree every time but she snaps out of it pretty quickly & buckles herself up to face the new challenge every day. Zulfi may be smitten with his wife & even though Jugnoo knows she can depend on him to some extent, she has already learned the truth that she will have to bring Baba Sahab down all by herself because Zulfi won’t back her up in this fight as he can’t utter a single word in front of his father. I really thought may be Zulfi will stand by his wife but he comes across as someone who chooses to stay on the fence instead of swooping in between someone else’s matters.

Looks like Bakshi Jee’s loyalty changed once again the moment Baba Sahab came into the picture. He was loyal to Zulfi till he was getting paid for keeping his secrets but as soon as he saw Baba Sahab, he knew it was another golden chance of making money this time by telling Baba Sahab the things he wanted to hear. Bakshi Jee can never be loyal to anyone & he had all the more reasons to badmouth Jugnoo because she was on his case since the day she stepped into Zulfi’s life as she doesn’t trust him & she comes from more or less the same social background, so she knew how far Bakshi Jee could go to in order to earn some money.

This episode indeed was interesting & I thoroughly enjoyed Baba Sahab’s reactions & dialogues. Jugnoo is one tough cookie & I am ready to see the battle between the father in law & the daughter in law & obviously, I am rooting for the daughter-in-law; Jugnoo. To be honest, I am actually now eager to see how things will unravel because the story has gotten pretty interesting & intense. The acting indeed was top-notch & Yumna Zaidi has given this character her 100% that too so effortlessly, that I believe it’s safe to say, it looks like this character was tailored for her. Share your thoughts about tonight’s episode please & let me know how much did you guys enjoy watching the showdown between the bloody massi & Baba Sahab? :)

Drama Serial Mol To Go On Air Soon On HUM

0

Drama serial Mol has been in the pipeline for two years now. After drama serial Ashk went on air the project head of the show started promoting his drama saying that he was going to cast Fawad Khan in the lead because those were the days when the rising star was a very hot commodity. There were also rumors that Mahira Khan may be seen opposite Fawad Khan but after a few months the Mol team stopped promoting the drama altogether. Now after 2 years the drama is finally going to be aired on HUM. The promos of the drama without the title are being shown on HUM too.

Naveen Waqar and Faysal Quairshi will be seen playing the lead in the drama. Faysal Quraishi recently started working with HUM otherwise he was always seen in Geo TV dramas. Faysal is also hosting a show on HUM titled Jeet Ka Dum after he stopped hosting Morning Shows on another channel.

Faysal Quraishi is very excited about this play and spoke a little about his character on facebook too.

1

While talking to Express Tribune about his upcoming drama serial Faysal said, “Mol is a very inspiring story about family and love. It suggests that true love is not just the fairytale way in which it is mostly portrayed in novels and the movies.”

Talking further about his character he said, “My character Sheharyar is somebody who I can relate to on many levels. He might not be very expressive, but he is fiercely loyal towards his loved ones. It is a very unique character and of course the total opposite of how the audience is currently seeing me in Rang Laaga.”

Jugnoo – An Overview!

Ohkay so, based on a novel ‘Shehzori’ written by Mirza Azeem Baig Chughtai, scripted by Amna Mufti, directed by Farooq Rind & produced by Momina Duraid; Jugnoo is a story of a girl whose life is full of some harsh realities but it has been conveyed in a very comical & light-hearted manner, which makes it interesting & a fun thing to watch. Jugnoo is currently airing on HUM TV on Fridays & 5 episodes have already gone on-air.

The central idea of this story is based on the life of a girl named Jugnoo (Yumna Zaidi) who has lost her father but lives with her mother Shahjahan (Humera Bano) at her Khala Jahangir’s (Ismat Zaidi) place. To describe her character in simple words, Jugnoo is someone for whom her pride & honor is everything & she is ready to go to any extreme to protect it. Jugnoo has been more like an errand girl in this house & that is because now when her Khala Jahangir has given her & her mother a shelter to survive, Jugnoo is expected to pay back by helping around with the household chores. The brutal realities of life have forced Jugnoo to become a lot more defensive & brusque because her life has never offered her the things that are normal. For Jugnoo, the only way to escape this gulag of Khala Jahangir & incessant taunts of Khala Kissho is to get married & that’s how she unconsciously welcomes more trials & tribulations in her life.

Collage 1

Right next to Jugnoo’s place; the neighbouring bungalow belongs to Baba Sahab (Rehan Sheikh) who himself lives in a Hill Station but he has appointed a caretaker Bakhsi Jee (Malik Raza) who looks after this property. Baba Sahab has two sons Tanveer (Saad Azhar) & Zulfikaar (Zahid Ahmed). Tanveer helps his father in the family business whereas Zulfikaar comes to the city to pursue his studies & starts living in the bungalow all by himself.

Bakshi Jee is someone whose loyalty is mostly on sale for the sake of few pennies. He is a money hoarder & that is why he allows all sorts of media people to shoot commercials on Baba Sahab’s property as he gets to make money on it through commission & more so, he knows that Zulfi doesn’t bother much about what’s happening in his surroundings.

Jugnoo comes across Imran (Aqeel Abbas) an assistant who is helping with the shooting of a commercial at Zulfi’s place & that’s when Imran starts to follow her & makes her believe that he owns a studio & has a decent life style. Jugnoo; who is on a lookout for an escape from her current life-offering falls prey to Imran’s tacts & decides to get married to him. Even though Khala Jahangir tries to knock some sense into her, Jugnoo, who has a love-hate relationship with her Khala, more of a hate-hate relationship, feels that Khala doesn’t want to let go of Jugnoo as she will lose a precious servant. However, Jugnoo doesn’t pay heed to anyone & gets married to Imran to find out that he lied to her about each & everything. I must say the reaction of Jugnoo that followed after she finds out the reality of Imran was hilarious & I really had a great time watching Jugnoo teaching her husband a good lesson. That’s when the reality starts dawning on her that now she has to live up to everyone’s expectations as she really raised the bar high herself by resorting to unnecessary false claims & for that, Jugnoo starts lying to her family to make them believe that Imran actually is quite well-off & she is really happy.

Collage 2

Imran who actually comes across as a sincere husband later turns out to be quite mean who just takes Jugnoo as a cash cow & thinks she can help him in making a lot of money, because of which he asks Jugnoo to step into modelling. Imran then decides to click a few pictures of Jugnoo on Zulfi’s residence for the sake of her portfolio but that’s when Zulfi stumbles across Jugnoo & gets to meet her for the first time properly because he does get to see her in passing & that’s when he actually falls for her. Zulfi believes Jugnoo is the one for him & for that he decides to meet her again to propose a marriage to her. Imran tries to make Jugnoo understand that she has to lie about being single in order to progress in this field but the moment Zulfi proposes her, she decides to come clean & tells him everything about Imran not being her manager but her husband. Imran & Zulfi make a deal where Imran has to divorce Jugnoo so that Zulfi can have her & in return Zulfi gives him a vintage car that belongs to his father because that’s what Imran’s boss wants & that’s the only way Imran can save his job.

Jugnoo being rough & tough that she is, learns the truth on her own that her marriage was spoiled due to the barter bargain between these two men & she decides to barge her way into Zulfi’s life as she holds him responsible for ruining her marriage but then she does get to know that it was Imran who initiated the deal as he was never sincere with her. Zulfi gets married to her & that’s how Jugnoo gets to show off to her Khala Jahangir & Khala Kissho that she has bagged a very good partner who is not only presentable & well-educated but has a sound background too.

Zulfikaar’s sister in law Ayesha (Saman Ansari) decides on her own that Zulfi should get married to her sister Ghazala & she easily convinces her husband Tanveer & her father-in-law Baba Sahab too. Ayesha has an ulterior motive behind getting Ghazala married to Zulfikaar because she is well aware of her sister’s calibre & she also knows that if Ghazala will become a daughter in law of this family, her future will be secure. Even though Tanveer is quite protective of his younger brother, he still believes in maintaining a distance from him as he wants to take care of the family business singlehandedly & doesn’t want Zulfikaar to pay heed to it at all. Zulfi hasn’t told about his marriage to anyone in the family but going by the preview of the next episode, his father will learn the truth on his own because he will pay a visit to Zulfi & I am sure it will be an interesting encounter between Jugnoo & Baba Sahab.

Collage 03

So, that’s what has happened in the first 5 episodes of the drama & I kind of enjoyed watching it. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical & concerned to see the way they portrayed Jugnoo’s first marriage, then her divorce & then her remarriage as such a normal thing because no matter how comical a drama or a story is, somethings are better left untouched & divorce is nothing to be made fun of & brushed under the carpet. I don’t believe it is something that can be or should be shown or dealt with so casually as well. I later understood that this drama has a comical tinge to it & this treatment will dominate the whole drama & that’s the way the story will be told, so for that, I am fine with it but my suggestion to all those who will tune to this play after reading this overview is that they should just take it as a fictional drama which may have some aspects of reality but doesn’t actually involve reality to some extent because with this approach you won’t have such a hard time seeing divorce being tackled so lightly, like I had. Having said that, if I take it as a good fictional drama, I actually enjoyed watching it because for a change it’s sometimes good to escape a reality & just watch some characters & a story from which you don’t have to extract anything out because then you can just go with the flow & watch it purely for the sake of entertainment.

I must say Yumna Zaidi has taken this drama to a different level & she has elevated it singlehandedly due to her effortless & flawless acting. I don’t know why but the very first episode did remind me of Dhoop Kinare because the backdrop setting was somewhat similar including that long unconstructed road surrounded by the trees & I could see a similarity in Jugnoo of Jugnoo & Zoya of Dhoop Kinare. Yumna Zaidi should be proud of herself for acting so brilliantly in this drama & I believe she has gotten a perfect chance & a perfect character to compliment it with the loudness of her expressions & gesticulation. I actually enjoy the dialogues a lot & all the conversations of Khala Kissho, Khala Jahangir & Shahjahan are written brilliantly. Malik Raza has been great as Bakshi Jee & I actually look forward to his scenes because his character is also a star of the show & the actor has done a complete justice while portraying the mean & commercial character so aptly. Zahid Ahmed has been great as Zulfi too so let’s see what do these guys have more in store for us & oh, I do like the OST as well. Please share your say about this drama & let me know your thoughts. :)

Rashid Nazir Ali

Alvida – Episode 15

I must say that I am no longer on the fence about this drama but on the contrary I am completely sold! There are some developments in the play which most of us were anticipating because of the twists and turns which the promos of the play had already revealed but the way the story is being taken forward is definitely not easy to predict. I wasn’t expecting Rameez’s character to be this sneaky; I was expecting him to take his anger out on Haya instantly and I was most definitely not expecting him to give Haya and Haadi an opportunity to be alone just so that he could confirm his suspicions and that too after the marriage. Rameez’s reaction however is not difficult to relate to at all, the man has some serious issues and I must say that Samira Fazal is good at crafting such characters. Rameez obviously knew already that Haya and Haadi had feelings for each other that is why he made an excuse to go away and then spy on them. Rameez’s character definitely has my attention now even more than ever because after watching tonight’s episode I am quite sure that we are in for a ride we won’t forget! The fact that Rameez took pictures of Haya and Haadi when they were holding hands went to show that he intends to hold on that moment! He has no intentions of forgetting what his wife was upto behind his back which would mean that he is someone who can harbour a lot of grudge in his heart without letting any of it show. Rameez is clingy and annoying and that ought to be punishment enough for Haya!!

The best part of this episode was that Farisa had absolutely nothing to do with what is about to go wrong with Haya’s life. It is really good to see Farisa not obsessing with Haya but digging a trap for her own self. Saim’s re-entry had to be one of the most intelligent twists in the story otherwise watching Farisa fret over Haadi and Haya for rest of the drama wouldn’t have been appealing at all. Farisa and Saim intend to meet more often now and something big is bound to happen before Saim returns to the US.

I wasn’t expecting Haya to put up with abuse in the given situation therefore I am very happy that Rameez did not reveal anything just yet. Things however changed a great deal in tonight’s episode. The way Haadi pushed Haya away once again will definitely bruise her ego. Haya had just started trusting Haadi once again with her true feelings for him only because Haadi gave her that confidence but now that Haadi has asked her to leave him alone because he knows that there is no point of making Haya feel like he even wants her around Haya will make sure that she stays away from him. Tayee’s advice to Haadi was the primary reason why he decided to tell Haya off, he realized that he could not continue leading Haya on because that would ruin her marriage. Haadi definitely feels a lot more for Haya than he shows but he is a realistic man who puts practical aspects of situations ahead of anything else. Haadi is also convinced that Rameez will keep Haya happy therefore he has absolutely no reason to make Haya feel like he has any kind of feelings for her.

Farisa and Haadi did not have a relationship to begin with but whatever chances there were of these two ever getting closer to one another are completely dead and buried now. Farisa is clearly in love with Saim all over again perhaps because she is getting all the luxuries she needs by being Haadi’s wife and all she needs now is love! Otherwise Farisa is not the kind of woman who would compromise on her lifestyle! Haadi is in the process of falling in and out of love with Haya therefore his priorities lie somewhere else too. This drama truly depicts how a wrong decision regarding marriage made in haste and for all the wrong reasons can ruin so many lives.

Imran Abbas and Sanam Jung stole the show yet again; every expression and every gesture was spot on! Zahid Ahmed is brilliant as a man who hides more than he reveals about his personality. I love the way every single scene in this episode was shot with perfection. Haya looked like she had seen a ghost when Rameez entered the room dressed up like a groom. Haadi looked terrified at his latest “discovery” as he sat beside Haya in the hospital. I must give the director full marks for ensuring that Haya wore her wedding dress even in the hospital because a change of clothing would have appeared strange.

Taya Abu came to pick Haya from her house and was also there at the hospital but we did not see him again in this episode, it would have been better if we were told that he had to go abroad since it is quite obvious that for some reason Mahmood Aslam could not be there when these episodes were being shot therefore making a good excuse for his character’s disappearance would have been much better than making the viewers feel like he is around but we can’t seem him! Haya’s suitcase when she was leaving for her Taya’s house was a little too big but these little things don’t change the fact that overall this was a very engaging episode which made it very easy for me to relate to the recent developments.

Even though the preview of the next episode suggested something entirely different but I am not expecting Rameez to show his true colors this soon. I really don’t want to witness excessive abuse on screen and I am quite sure too that Shehzad Kashmiri will not put us through that torture. He has kept things very subtle and decent till now and I expect nothing different from him in the future too.

Thank you team Alvida for another entertaining episode which kept me hooked to the TV screen and gave me something to look forward to.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Sarfraz Ahmed Gets Married

0

Pakistani cricketer Sarfraz Ahmed got married yesterday to Khushbakht Aftab. While talking about his marriage plans at the start of the year Sarfraz shared that his marriage was going to be a combination of love and arranged marriage. He wanted to get married to Khushbakht Aftab and later when his mother went to her house with the proposal she liked her too.

The television channels were there when Sarfraz went to try his Sherwani. Sarfraz said that wearing helmet was easy but wearing this turban on his head doesn’t appear to be that easy.

Mumkin – An Overview!

Ohkay so, on a lot of recommendations I decided to give Mumkin a go & I was pleasantly surprised because I wasn’t expecting Mumkin to be this good. Writing of Sarwat Nazeer, Direction of Furqan Khan & Production of Six Sigma Productions; Mumkin currently airs on Tuesdays on ARY & is 10 episodes down. Even though I wasn’t expecting this but Mumkin turned out to be really good because there are so many things in this drama that work for me. The direction is absolutely brilliant because without over-doing anything, they have shown a lot of characters & their personal relationships to perfection. The plot is quite interesting & the cast has done an amazing job too. I like Mumkin for the fact that even though there are so many characters, everyone gets a due time & coverage & the way their tracks are interlinked makes it a very interesting watch. There might not be a lot of big or star names associated with Mumkin, but there is absolutely no need for any addition in this drama because it is a complete package that will give you a lot to look forward to & will make the drama-watching experience enjoyable.

I liked how they started the plot by showing two girls who were best of friends but were totally & completely opposite to each other & later as the story progressed, they showed how their life kept on getting interlinked & they ended up sharing more relations with each other than they ever imagined.

We have Maira (Sara Khan) who is the only child & the only relation she ever knows & has shared all her life with is of her mother Mehreen (Irsa Ghazal). Mehreen has always kept Maira in a very protected & secured environment because she knows that her daughter is very simple minded & is quite innocent. Mehreen has kept her life very private because she has a lot to hide & that is why she has kept her past hidden from her daughter as she doesn’t want it to affect her daughter in any way. There are a lot of qualities that set Maira apart from the rest of the girls of her age because even though she is confident & positive, she is still very child-like.

Coll 1

Then we have Natasha (Sadia Faisal) who is also the only child of her parents Nageen (Farah Shah) & Aziz (Sajid Hassan). Nageen is your typical practical woman who treats people according to their status & that is why Natasha takes it after her mother which is why she also doesn’t believe in being courteous. She is mean, she is dominating & she likes to have all the attention wherever she goes & the good thing is she knows all this about her because this is what her mother has taught her.

Then we have a family of Hina (Tahira Imam) who has two sons Waleed (Yasir Mazhar) & Muneeb (Junaid Khan). Hina happens to be a sister in law of Nageen but she is a very easy going person & that is why she often lets Nageen run things in her household too. Waleed was engaged to his first cousin Natasha & on a recommendation of Nageen, Muneeb was engaged to Tanya, who happens to be a daughter of Aziz’s business partner. Nageen knows that this marriage will bring a lot of benefits to their family business, which is why she persists on getting Muneeb married to Tanya.

The family of Hina experiences the real deal of problems when Muneeb & Tanya start to have a difference of opinion. Tanya being born & bred in UK demands Muneeb to settle down in London after their marriage, which Muneeb refuses to do as he doesn’t want to leave his mother at all. Natasha always depends upon Maira for everything as she knows that Maira is a very easy going person & she doesn’t involve herself much in intricacies, therefore, Natasha remain friends with Maira as she can boss around Maira & keep her wrapped around her finger without having to worry much about what Maira would think or feel & actually Maira has such a high opinion & regard of Natasha that even when Mehreen tries to warn her about Natasha, Maira chooses to ignore it completely.

Coll 2

Maira gets introduced to Natasha’s in-laws on one of the pre-wedding get togethers & the moment Muneeb meets Maira, he feels attracted & connected to her. After coming across a few indecent pictures of Tanya on her Facebook profile, Muneeb decides to call it quits because he can easily foresee that both he & his fiancée are two different people who are not at all compatible to each other. Muneeb then starts taking interest in Maira but when Nageen tells Natasha the main reason behind getting Muneeb married to Tanya, Natasha makes sure to brain feed Maira against Muneeb so that she doesn’t accept his proposal.

Just because Natasha tells her, Maira half-heartedly decides to get engaged to her family friend Adil (Asad Siddique) who actually likes Maira a lot. Maira thinks by doing this she will be able to keep Muneeb from showing interest in her but Muneeb understands it pretty well that Maira is only faking an engagement. Adil comes across Tanya on Natasha’s wedding & being an opportunist, just because Tanya promises to get him settled in UK, he backs off from his engagement & decides to get married to Tanya. Muneeb then grabs the opportunity & introduces himself to Mehreen to let her know that he is interested in her daughter; Maira & wants to get married to her. This is how they get married & now the story has gotten a lot more interesting because a new person has emerged in Maira’s life that she thinks of as a father figure to her & now she has to find out that he actually is her father.

Even though Mehreen has stayed calm & composed all these years & has stayed focused because of her daughter, she is often seen reminiscing about how her husband left her in the lurch & for that she is often seen heart-broken. Aziz decides to give Natasha a surprise by showing up on her wedding & immediately after that, he gets to attend the Nikkah ceremony of Muneeb & Maira, that is when he comes across Mehreen & realizes that Maira is his daughter as Mehreen was his first wife. From the person he seemed in the reminisce scenes to a person he has become now; he came across as a lot more courteous & apologetic towards Mehreen becasue it looks like he has understood Mehreen’s value & importance while he was away. He wants to make things right & he wants another chance because he wants to let Mehreen know about what happened back then that he couldn’t return to her & he can do that because he never divorced Mehreen & was still married to her when he left for UK which makes Mehreen his lawfully wedded wife till date for sure. Maira has never known much about her father because Mehreen chose not to share much with her & instead told her that her father died when Mehreen was expecting Maira, that is why Maira feels drawn towards Aziz as she respects him like a father. After seeing Maira & getting to know how loveable she is, Aziz lets his fatherly instincts rule him & because of both Mehreen & Maira, he decides to stay in Pakistan for a while.

This is what has happened till now but I must say, the way the story is being told is commendable. It was probably around the 6th episode or so when I guessed that Aziz would be Mehreen’s husband & Maira’s father & I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that happening. I am glad that once Maira will get to know the truth, she will get all the love & support she has ever dreamt of. Even though the way Aziz vanished & banished Mehreen from his life, makes him a bigger culprit but the way he projected himself now goes to show that he has regretted that decision every single day of his life, for the past 20 years.

Coll 3

I must say I am totally impressed by Sara Khan’s acting here & in fact all the actors fit so well in their respective roles that they make this drama a complete success for me. I love how calm Mehreen is, I love how positive Maira is & I must say Sadia Faisal has done an amazing job as an irritable spoiled young girl. There are so many shades in every character that you can easily understand them. Tahira Imam once again takes the crown for playing the role of an adorable mother to perfection & oh I must say, Farah Shah has done a commendable job in portraying the negative role of Nageen so effortlessly. I must confess, it’s for the first time that I have liked Junaid Khan in any drama. He should go for more such roles where he gets to be a positive & caring person. I absolutely love seeing Sara Khan & Junaid Khan together because their chemistry is amazing & they make a great on-screen couple. There’s something so special while watching these two together in this drama that I actually find myself smiling during their scenes together. I enjoy watching Mumkin for the fact that even though each & every character has a dominant personality trait in them, their different reactions at times often show us the other side of them too which is actually quite appeasing.

In my case, I’d say ‘better late than never’, so I am really glad that I decided to watch Mumkin before it ended & yes, I will be reviewing it on weekly basis from now on. Share your thoughts about Mumkin please & let me know how much are you guys enjoying watching it. :)

Celebrities We Love To Hate

0

A celebrity is a famous person who is liked by many people but sometimes there are some famous people who are not always popular in all circles. There are especially some celebrities whose fame depends on things that are controversial because of which while they could have some fans but very often people love to criticize them. There are many such celebrities in our country too who are very popular but they are not always in the good books of people because of their actions or personalities. One thing that is common among all these people in the list is that they have been involved in controversies over and over again except Sahir Lodhi. Many people who criticize these celebrities obviously think that they do not deserve all the love and attention that they are getting from the public. Being famous has its perks but it comes with a price and that price is that people can say whatever they want about you and they have full freedom to hold an opinion about you.

Here is a list of some very famous celebrities who we love to hate!

Veena Malik

Veena Malik is in the list because for the longest time Veena was also one such celebrity which people loved to hate but since she got married most people have changed their opinion about her. She is also out of country and out of limelight so people don’t have much to criticize her for but when she was in the limelight she was called the drama queen and the controversy queen because she was always involved in something controversial. Veena Malik is living a life of exile now because of the cases against her in Pakistan but even now when she asks people to support her not too many people speak in her favor.

veena

Shaista Lodhi

Shaista Lodhi is also one of those famous people who have fans but there is also a large group of people who can’t stop criticizing her. Shaista Lodhi was not part of a lot of controversies in her career but her career ended because of one big controversy and now she is out of showbiz too. It was not because of Shaista’s controversial personality that people disliked her but because of her overall behavior which people did not like.

Meera

There is a very simple reason why people don’t like Meera and that is that she is too dumb and not that accomplished either. Meera is most certainly very well known but most often for all the wrong reasons. Meera’s obsession with English language and her unintelligent statements make people hate her.

meera

Sahir Lodhi

Sahir Lodhi tries his best to please people by doing everything right but even then there is something in his personality that makes people hate him. We see people making fun of him on all forums and there isn’t very often when people appreciate his talents!

sahir lodhi

Aamir Liaquat

Aamir Liaquat is one person who is somehow very popular and very hated at the same time. It is sometimes hard to believe that someone who is hated so much is still appearing on television! He is loved by people he gifts things to but hated by all others. The main reason for people hating him is that he does not respect others and he does not have the decent mannerism which a person who is in his position should have.

Mathira lives on controversy so people can’t help noticing but hating her at the same time. Mathira has always been one of those personalities who are known more because of their controversies than their talent. When someone uses controversies to get popularity they are automatically not liked by people.

Maya Khan

Maya Khan is hated by most people because of her hypocrisy. No one had a problem with this bubbly and full of life host until she started raiding on people dating in parks and gave lectures on morality and later on her own pictures in mini skirt were revealed which showed that she was a two faced person. Maya Khan has more haters than fans because of some very big mistakes she made in her career.

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 10!

Like always, this episode was beautiful & was packed with a lot of different emotions that were elaborated beautifully on screen tonight. I really like how the director here is taking things slow for a while before stepping into the second phase of the story. Even though, Suhaib was not present, what I loved the most about this episode was that he wasn’t just forgotten & each & every conversation revolved around him because he was absolutely special for each one of them.

Agha Jaan (read Abid Ali) made me cry once again with his brilliant performance in this episode. I have never seen such a powerful depiction of emotions coming from any other actor but Abid Ali for sure is phenomenal. Indeed, it wasn’t difficult at all to understand what he was going through. He has lost the best & the most valued person in his life; his son Suhaib, who was not just a son but was more than that because he gave Agha Jaan more than what he ever thought of & asked for, that is why it was so hard for Agha Jaan to accept that Suhaib is gone forever & his death scarred him more than anyone could’ve imagined. It is so evident that Behroz is trying so hard to fill the void but he can never reach the bar that Suhaib has set so high.

It was so heartbreaking so see Zarmeenay & Arjumand completely shattered. It was indeed another powerful performance by Hareem Farooq in this particular episode. She depicted the emotions of someone who lost everything to perfection. Suhaib indeed was her shelter & to see it being torn away & buried somewhere was the most difficult thing that Arjumand had to go through.

The highlight of this episode for me was the conversation between Behroz & Wali. Not only because Behroz realized how similar Wali was to his father but also because it showed how much Suhaib loved Behroz to let his children know about him, which is why despite the fact that Wali met him for the first time, he met him like he has known him all his life & he wasn’t hesitant at all. This thing also sheds a light on how different Behroz & Suhaib were & how differently they raised their children because Suhaib made sure that both Wali & Zarmeenay knew their Baray Baba & he made sure that his kids be familiar with Behroz just because if there comes a time when the family gets back together, both Wali & Zarmeenay should know what Behroz meant to Suhaib & how he was always a part of the family even if he wasn’t around. Then it took me back to how Faarah was being raised, where the only family she knows about is the family of Tajjamul & how easily Behroz has kept her oblivious of her paternal relatives. The way Behroz lied to Faarah about the gifts that were from Suhaib actually shows what a weak person he is & how ‘important’ Suhaib was for him, which is why now when he said ‘Suhaib mera sab kuch tha’, I really had a hard time believing him.

Well, I have a request for all those who’ve read the novel, I am giving you guys a single but golden chance to share a spoiler alert with me here; please please please let me know that something bad happens to Tajjamul because I so want Ruhina to learn a few lessons in life as well. I so want her to lose her brother to comprehend how it is to be in that position & then I will see how worried she’d be about Behroz & Faarah. The things she said actually made me want to smack her because ohkay, if she is clinging onto that bad memory & those insults are still lingering on in her head, that’s perfectly fine but is she so low on humanity that she cannot even sympathize or feel bad that someone in Behroz’s family has passed away? For the first time in 20 years, Behroz chose to speak to her about his father & his brother & all she had to do was remind him of his carelessness? Behroz has taken care of her for the last 20 years & has filled her life with so much love so why can’t she move on & forget all that she went through back then? She still doesn’t believe in giving Behroz an edge even though she knows that he is going through a very difficult time right now? Even though we shouldn’t expect anything from Behroz as he is so smitten by this emotionless statue that he calls his wife but I so hope he shows her the right place because seems like she got a lot more than what she actually deserved.

I am looking forward to what Laila has to say to Behroz. I really liked the fact that even though Laila & Suhaib shared a cordial relation for a very little time, the way she was there for Suhaib’s family in this difficult hour showed that she may have moved on in her life but the bonding that she shared with Suhaib is still very special to her because they both parted at a good note & most importantly, she knows what a gem of a person Suhaib was. I really like Laila’s character for the fact that she has such a high regard for Suhaib who didn’t do anything for her but that is only because she knows everything about him & his struggles.

This episode was beautiful & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I so want to see Ruhina’s face when Behroz will break the news of Faarah & Wali’s marriage. Yes, he wants to make things right & he wants to compensate for all the sorrows he has inflicted upon Agha Jaan but I think Behroz like always is making an irrational & hasty decision because now; with Faarah, he is doing exactly the same thing that Agha Jaan asked him to do by marrying Arjumand; someone he didn’t love & didn’t want to be with, 20 years ago.

I must say, being a newbie the girl playing the role of Zarmeenay is doing a brilliant job. I am glad that Osman Khalid Butt got a good coverage in this episode but I still felt his acting was a bit forced, as if the emotions weren’t coming naturally to him & he really was trying hard to get them across. I am sure as the episodes will pass by, he won’t give us a chance to complain but for now, I found his acting a little too weak in comparison to all the other actors who are doing a brilliant job. Please share your say with us & let me know how much you enjoyed watching this episode. :)

Top 5 stunners with substance

Pakistani drama are becoming quite popular all over the world because of their heart touching plots, mesmerizing performances and crispy climaxes. Nobody can deny the beauty of our dramas that hold the attention of all the viewers by strong characterization along with some glitz and glamour.

Nowadays, dramas are followed by natural yet outstanding performances that induce me to praise our stylish actors in return of their hard work which is highly challenging. Let’s have a look at those five sparkling stars who deserve a great round of applause:

Yumna Zaidi in Jugnoo

Well, this lady really stands out alone in the que of best ever seen acting. She portrays a character of middle class girl who is simple, immature and out spoken. Her facial expressions, delivery of words and care free walk all altogether provide a crunch to the role. Yumna proofs herself best in this unique script that pushes her on screen with full of uncertain actions and short exposition of comedy.

jugnoo

Sara Khan in Alvida

Sara Khan is yet another fresh talent who appeals the audience with her fantastic artistic qualities. She plays a negative role in drama serial “Alvida” introducing her as a cunning, stubborn and greedy woman who can do anything for the sake of materialistic life. The situation become more complex when she feels insecure from her husband’s attitude. Well, I must say she unfolds great acting sense and make herself picture perfect for this serial. Full marks!

farisa

Gul-e-Rana in Sartaj Mera Tou Raaj Mera

First of all, a big woo for her! Although she is not as attractive as the other young actresses are but still she reached the height of fame with classic impersonation and fanciful expressions. Her role in “Sartaj mera tou raaj mera” is of an old woman who is sharp, outspoken and happening. I would say queen of exaggeration is the justified word for this role :)

sartaj mera

Sonia Hussain in Nikkah

Sonia Hussain is another deserving name that i come across these days. With her innocent and bubbly looks, Sonia really rules over thousands of heart from a couple years past. Her character in” Nikkah” poses a sincere, kind and forgiving housewife who sacrificed her love for the wish of her husband. Cherry on the top is her super girl attitude that is required for the success of this serial.

nikkah

Nausheen Shah in Zid

O, the lady with versatility and demeanor. Nausheen Shah is one of my favorite actresses, who could not get the limelight like other successful heroines but placed herself fit for any kind of role. In “Zid” she dares to act of a drug addict obsessed with the love and care. The character also has colors of vicious plans which she made for attaining the attention of her ex-husband.

So, this is all for today. I hope my personalized list did not bother you. I found the above stated people best in their skins with loads of acting power and magnetizing personalities.

Dear Pakistani drama producers stop abusing women for ratings

0

Ever since Pakistani drama industry has gotten back on it’s feet our drama writers are following the same set of rules in each and every drama. The story petty much revolves around a young girl who is facing all sorts of troubles. This is referred to as the infamous ‘mazloom aurat’ storyline. In these dramas the women literally start crying after every 10 minutes.

In these dramas women are made to endure all sorts of physical, mental and emotional abuse. They are slapped, shoved and even kicked around on screen in front of millions of viewers that includes women, men and children of impressionable age. In a country where women already face high levels of domestic abuse it is highly condemnable that our writers and directors instead of working to change this mindset are actively promoting it! I mean seriously what kind of message are you sending out there? That it is OK to abuse women. I know husbands who frequently abuse their wives who are avid watchers of these shows. One such despicable being was a regular watcher of Geo’s infamous ‘kalmoohi’ a show which was created to make the life of the heroine as tragic as possible. However kalmoohi was not unique. Drama after drama brought forward such kind of eternally crying women with Mawra hocane, Sumbl Iqbal, Ayeza khan crying at each possible instance Ad nauseam.

kalmoohi
I once read an interview of Faseeh bari khan where he said his producers asked him to add violence against women saying that this will boost TRP’s. He even stated how producers are even stooping so low as to have writers write scenes where women’s heads are shaved! (aurat ko ganja kerna saza ke liye). This is a new low even for our producers.

chup raho
What is most disturbing in these dramas are how frequently women are being shown as being sexually abused. This is followed not by women overcoming this incident or bringing the perpetrator to justice but are shown as being helpless, constantly crying and being blamed by the society for loosing their ‘honor’. Chup Raho is a recent example which reached a new low in all these categories. Here the lead actor Rameen was abused physically and emotionally. What was worse was how they showed these things repeatedly and how her tormentors escaped justice and were only punished in a ridiculous and totally unrealistic way.

What really shocks me is how many of these serials are written by WOMEN themselves. Either these ladies have no sense of right and wrong or they are self-hating women. Women who hate their own gender and keep degrading other women for the delight of millions. Or maybe these women are actually men writing under a female name! LOL

The impact of these dramas can be judged by the fact that domestic abuse rather then being something to be ashamed of is being accepted in mainstream society with even educated people arguing that it is permitted to hit women if they misbehave or disobey! Some people might say I’m exaggerating but it is sadly the truth. But what is even sadder that we are not doing any thing to change this mindset.

In these serials Women are shown as fragile dolls who must seek the protection of men or are stubborn women who get what is coming to them. It seems there are no normal women in these dramas. Every women is either a vamp or an angel!

Every entertainment channel airs these kinds of dramas with currently Geo leading this trend with ARY on a close second position. These channel rather then bringing forth quality entertainment are churning out such rubbish. It is time to send a clear message to these drama writers and producers. Stop exploiting women!

Imran Abbas Wants Producers/Writers To Show More Creativity

0

Imran Abbas is enjoying working in Pakistani dramas once again, something that is very apparent from his excitement on facebook vis a vis the drama that he is working in and undoubtedly also his performances in the dramas which he has worked in. Imran Abbas has been getting a lot of offers from different production houses but he says that he does not want to work in a play unless it is based on a different story. He thinks that the producers and directors are concentrating on run of the mill formulas of love triangles and family dramas when there is so much more that they can experiment with.

2

Imran Abbas’ latest statement goes to prove that viewers are not the only ones who are tired of watching the same kind of stories in dramas but the actors too no longer want to work in dramas which revolve around the same old stories. If we look at the history of dramas which Imran Abbas has worked in we can see that he has played versatile roles which is why he is looking for the same variety now too.

1

Speaking up about something like this might invite a lot of criticism from different circles but looks like Imran Abbas means business so he does not really care what the outcome of this honesty would be. It is very clear that the actor had no intentions of hurting anyone by expressing his feelings about the situation in the drama industry.

We have seen him in advertisements and he was also keeping himself occupied doing charity work for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital. We have also heard that he has signed two Lollywood Films which he will most probably be doing with MD productions.

Fawad Khan endorsed Omer Farooq’s brand Republic. Here are pictures of the photoshoot:

Ayesha Khan and Ahsan Khan have been a part of the drama industry for many years now. Someone would think that in this day and age of intense competition we would never see them playing the leading roles in another drama ever again but that is not the case with our evergreen hero and heroine. Ahsan khan and Ayesha Khan will be seen playing leading characters in HUM’s upcoming play Tumhare Siwa which has been directed by Sakina Samo. Ahsan Khan plays the role of a pilot in it and some of the shooting of the play has been done in Dubai. Shart – Episode 07!

& the loser of the year award goes to….Emaaaaaad. Woo hoo!!! Wow, I am so impressed by the writer’s mentality here (coughing sarcasm). He has not only treated home-wreckage as something adventurous but has also suggested that home wrecking can serve the purpose of future reconciliation between a divorced pair & I say that because Sameer’s friend suggested Halala so casually that it made me want to puke!

I am amazed that even though Emaad knew all the passes Moomal was making at him were due to the bet she had with Afroz but he chose to believe that his ‘mohabbat’ was coming back to him? I mean in this scenario, a guy should’ve been furious at his wife & friend both. At his wife; for treating him as a betting bait & at his friend; for even thinking so sickly about him but instead, Emaad thought it was his time of glory so he decided to go with the flow because he not only was enjoying it, but also because he thought the illuminator on his cheeks attracted Moomal towards him. He wants Moomal & it is totally clear that he couldn’t get her out of his mind even when he was married to Afroz for these couple of years, so that is why now when the opportunity presented itself, he decided to grab it without a further a due.

I so want to see Afroz’s face when she will fall flat on it. I so want to see her shattered & broken because the so called Emaad whom she trusted blindly wasn’t worthy to begin with & she is the one to be blamed for literally nurturing her husband’s desire of second marriage with so much love. I so hope without making her guilty for going ahead with this bet, Emaad comes clean with Afroz for once that he has always loved Moomal & it wasn’t only because of this bet that he got interested in her but going by how easily he lies to his wife on her face, I am sure he doesn’t have a backbone to profess.

Can someone also tell me the purpose of this purposeless soul Afroz in this drama? Does she really think that such a difficult person like Moomal has moved on & is ready to get married again? I mean Afroz for once needs something to do in her life, some activity or something of that sort to keep herself busy because the way she drools over every other guy as a perfect match for Moomal is hideous. She hardly has two dialogues to speak firstly she has to remind Moomal about the bet & secondly, she has to stop Moomal from leaving, too bad now when the shart is over, her dialogues will be cut down a chunk.

I really thought Sameer was the sane one in this lot & he actually is but to instill the idea of depression-ke-marz-ki-dawa-drinking is sickening. I am actually disgusted to see how drinking is made a part of every other drama these days. They can resort to any other way if they want to show someone down & depressed but to show a man losing his mind because he drank is absolutely disgusting & oh by the way, the sound effects & that bhompoo at the background is so annoying, it makes me lose my mind. Appni taraf se they have added a very elegant, classy & suggestive in an odd manner feel to the whole drama but it is annoying to the core!

I must say if there’s an award made to be given to someone for being a shameless being, hands down it belongs to Moomal. Now when she has won the bet because Emaad was too desperate, if she is blessed with an ounce of self-respect & conscious, she should pack her bags & leave their place right away but seems like she is going to stay. The last thing I wanted to see in this drama were Moomal’s hissy fits but seems like we’ll get to experience more of them in the upcoming episodes. Oh, the way Emaad & Moomal were both at a hill station suggested that they might’ve gotten married & now Moomal was hallucinating or if not, then Sameer must’ve come back to take his wife with him but seems like, like his friend suggested, this drama will also result in a sickening, puke-worthy & blood-boiling Halala scenario because Moomal will obviously go back to Sameer, leaving both Afroz & Emaad devastated. Share your thoughts on this hideous drama please!

Mera Naam Yousuf Hai – Episode 11

After watching these 11 episodes of Mera Naam Yousuf Hai I have come to the conclusion that emotions reign supreme in this play just like all the other dramas written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. These emotions outpour in every single scene irrespective of which character or situation that scene focuses on. Every character has a story to tell which is unraveling with every passing episode.

Honestly speaking I felt for Yousuf’s father more than anyone else in this episode. Behroze Sabzwari is absolutely flawless as the soft-hearted caring father who tries to put some sense into his son when its needed but when that doesn’t work he is more than willing to go the extra mile to make his son happy even when the odds are completely against him. There is no logical reason why someone like him would go ahead with everything that Yousuf wanted him to do except that he does not want to cause any more pain to his son or perhaps because he knows only too well what it feels like to love someone the way Yousuf loves Zulekha. Or it could be destiny which lead him to Afia’s house so that their paths could meet once again. I got the feeling that Waji Ahmed did not go to Zulekha’s house to talk her out of this relationship but when he saw Afia he realized that his son couldn’t possibly get married to Afia’s daughter. We know that these two share a history and that everyone related to them knows what happened between them but the details were not revealed in this episode except that it was a “ghalti” which everyone knows about. How dark is this secret? And why does everyone know about it? I am waiting to find out!

Afia Begum seems like all talk for now, the poor woman can only wage wars, she has the will to fight but in the end it seems like she is quite helpless. Zulekha is like her mother too, she does not have the guts to take a stand in front of her father. She wants to be different but she lacks the courage to put her plans into action. Yousuf on the other hand is willing to do anything for Zulekha even though right now whatever he is going through for her doesn’t seem to be getting him closer to her.

The two conversations that stood out in this episode more than any other were the ones which Madiha had with Zulekha on the phone urging her to do her bit and whatever Hajra said to Waji and his wife about what she had learnt about marriages till now. Hajra’s tone is always humorous but she says things which go to show that she is very mature. Being the youngest in the house she keeps on observing the things that are happening around her and whatever she has to say about these things is always spot on. Is it really that wrong to give a man who loves your daughter a chance? On the contrary like Hajra says the man who loves your daughter becomes your biggest enemy and you get her married to someone who does not even love her and keep on hoping and praying that one day that marriage will be successful! How ironic is that!

Madiha continues to be a very positive character played flawlessly by Mansha Pasha. The writer and the director both deserve due credit for exploiting the potential in Madiha’s character to the maximum by letting her be much more than just a victim. I must applaud the writer for showing that love can be this selfless and the director has done us a huge favor by keeping the rona dhona to the minimum. Maya Ali seems to be very comfortable in her character and I am liking her more with every passing episode. Imran Abbas is in full form ever since he made a comeback so no complaints there!

Overall this episode had its high points as usual but I must say that the part in the prison is not exactly something I look forward to or am enjoying watching. The preview of the next episode quite clearly showed that whatever happened between Afia and Waji is so deep rooted that even someone like Waji is unable to show flexibility in the matter. Will Zulekha finally take a stand for Yousuf? The Policeman suggested that if the girl involved gives a statement that favors Yousuf in the court he will be free of all charges. Am I the only one who wants Yousuf out of jail and I don’t ever want him back there again? The scenes are becoming repetitive and are definitely not my favorite part of the drama.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Khuda Dekh Raha Hai – Episode 12 & 13!

Well well well, the story of this drama is getting so depressing that it’s hard to watch it. Yes, what they are showing is reality but their approach is very unrealistic & then comes Sajjal Ali in the picture, I really want to know how come she never gets tired of getting manhandled so brutally in every other drama? I must commend her confidence & lack of sensitivity with which she allows all that to happen to herself. I know it’s only for the sake of a drama that she’s doing & also because it is a demand of most of the characters she plays but then, like really, isn’t she tired? As much as I feel for the character she is playing; Zoya, when it comes to Sajjal Ali, she is so off-putting & that’s a shame because she is such a good actor, but sadly, she is wasting her talent in such roles.

I must commend Khalida for being so inconsiderate. Even after Zoya told her clearly that Adnan drinks & mistreats her, it only took a single class from Sanam for Khalida to come back to her senses & later when Akhtar questioned about Zoya, Khalida straight away said Zoya should be left alone to deal with whatever she is facing because apparently, that’s how she will gel in her new home. Yes, Khalida is having depression pangs & she is feeling guilty but the way she has blinded herself from Zoya & her problems makes her the ultimate villain & in fact a bigger villain than Sanam.

Sanam is quite clever & so is her mother but I really don’t understand why do Khalida & Zoya both, fall prey to their trap? As far as I remember, Zoya was the logical one in that family, she would always reason with her mother & that being said, it was quite clear that when it comes to voicing out her thoughts & opinions, Zoya never held back, so what is stopping her now? Yes, she knows that her family wouldn’t jump to her rescue straight away but why can’t she be more precise in what she is going through? Khalida is definitely not on good terms with Sanam but why does she always run out of words in front of her? Zoya comes to meet her family but Sanam doesn’t let her stay there & Khalida doesn’t feel the need to jump in to stop Sanam from running things? It’s actually quite odd.

I liked the aspect of Zoya’s faith getting shattered. It made her look like any other human being who feels & goes through the same phase when they hit a rock bottom. Zoya has lost her faith & for that, Khalida should blame herself, as she is the one who has ruined Zoya’s life & if Zoya feels that way, no one can undo that because only she knows what she is going through.

I found the whole Talaaq & the cover up scenario completely baseless & unrealistic. Even though Zoya tells Khalida clearly that Adnan has divorced her, Khalida easily forgets it & tells Zoya that she has to live in this house till she dies? The way Adnan’s mother convinces Zoya that she didn’t get divorced was also unrealistic? Where does it happen these days? Zoya is well aware of her rights & like I said, she has always been the one who used to be logical, so why can’t she put two & two together? Someone divorces her, someone tells her the otherwise & she chooses to believe everything? Yes, she is mazloom & what not but now I feel the writer has flawed Zoya’s character & seeing Sajjal Ali play this role reminds me so much of Rameen of Chup Raho as well. I think playing a strong headed girl in the initial stages of the drama to later become a clueless miserable soul is Sajjal Ali’s forte & comfort zone & I hope to see her snapping out of it ASAP.

I am glad that Adnan finally divorced her clearly in front of everyone where Zoya wasn’t in such a state that someone would be able to delude her again. I am glad she got divorced when her mind was awake & she could register what was happening because now we’ll see an end to some sort of misery that has been inflicted on Zoya & oh, the whole scene of Zoya (read Sajjal Ali) lying on a bed after getting beaten up was so indecent, especially to see two uncles in the frame made it a lot more uncomfortable. I really hope Sajjal Ali does some self-policing when it comes to these sorts of scenes as they don’t really suit her at all. Share your thoughts please.

Here was another emotionally and tragically packed episode of Maryam. Mawra, Uzma Gillani and Faisal Qureshi were brilliant in their acting. We are seeing the after effects of fake will as the couple is treated terribly in the house and even refused to be allowed to sit at the breakfast table. Maryam is still showing her spine and answering Firdous Begum appropriately and sometimes a little too rudely if you consider that she, after all is her mother in law, though being the horrible one that she is, we can’t really blame Maryam.

Amman is unceremoniously thrown out of the office by Sheraz who has grabbed everything as he has always dreamed of. I would have expected Amman to show some courage and anger and not break down like he did but retrospectively if you think of a little motherless child and growing up trying to make his step relations his own and even stupidly ignoring their greed to avoid a rift between himself and his mother and siblings, I can well imagine what he must be feeling. A grown up and accomplished man who has seen it all and yet mourns the loss of relations rather than money goes back to his efforts in keeping these relations in the first place :(

Maryam on the other hand is also facing the pain and anguish in her house. Firdous is stopping to low tactics like taking back her car, forbidding her to go to her parents and even insulting Noor when she comes. I wish Salman has some other use rather than calling Noor. If he takes Amman as his brother, then he should not be quiet at all that’s happening.

On a lighter note, if Amman had the sense to take a taxi rather than strolling through the whole city with his picture in his hand, than he would not have been mocked by Behram or robbed. He says he doesn’t have any taxi money but why didn’t he take one before the motorbike thieves arrived.

The episode ends with Maryam trying to make Sheraz and Firdous feel bad about what they have done but obviously a fight erupted. I wish Amman had told Firdous when she said that Maryam has made two brothers fight, that Sheraz’s attitude with him in the office earlier in the day was not very brotherly and Maryam wasn’t even there.
So now Amman and Maryam are being thrown out of the house. How will they take it? And how will Maryam’s family take it and how is Behram going to take advantage of this situation remains to be seen..

Karb – Episode 2

0

Hello everyone,

Two days ago, we saw the second episode of Karb and i was not too thrilled to be honest. It was just the second one but im wishing for the relation between Hamza and Hania to start sooner and despite all my effort, i just dont understand why the characters of Fahad and Mahnoor were given to such aged people, though im a big Behroz Sabzwari fan but he just does not suit here :( and Mahnoor is even worse. i dont want to sound unkind but she just does not evoke the sympathy that a younger woman would have scored in such trials that she is facing after marriage and trying to keep respect and dignity between her parents and husband.

Finally we see Saman Ansari as Aliya and she seems exactly Hamza’s type, mature, sensible, kind and responsible. What will provoke Hamza to marry Hania instead of her has to be a major factor or maybe it will just be the Cupid :) She even looked better than Hania to me who didn’t seem all that beautiful with untidy hair and a forgotten rubber band on the end to one side, smooshing the cake batter with her hands and rubbing dirty hands on her face. She looked totally upto no good. And her antic in giving the cake to begger who returns with it and buying from bakery to replace didn’t seem all that funny. More like silly I would say.

The financial trouble in Hamza’s sister’s household is increasing that she had to take up tuitions but as they say; trouble comes in battalions. Fahad is getting into quarrels with everyone and lands in the jail. I’m complaining about the same thing again but Behroz Sabzwari is just too old for this angry young man’s character who has been wronged so becomes angry at everyone. The way he barges in his partner’s office and grabs his collar is more like UNCLE PAGAL HO GYAY HAIN than the heartbroken businessman he was meant to be playing. I can understand Adnan Siddiqui being cast as the hero, maybe the producer thought he would better suit a mature man than any of the younger actors but why the whole cast or some of them atleast is beyond me.

Hamza’s other sister is getting married and everyone is worried about the financial aspects of wedding. I really liked Aina’s dialogue that if Hamza has to spend the next year repaying loans, she would never be happy. Love her for this :) If more girls that age think like this, our society might change the mindset of valuing a bride on what she brings with her.

Then there was this typical aulad wala problem in Hania’s house between his mother and bhabi. Sadly Saba Faisal is not as great a mother in law as I thought.

Let’s see how Hania wins over Hamza in the next episode.

Do share your views about this episode. Cheers :-)

Best performances in Negative Role!

Having variety of characters in a play is important in order to attract audience. It is the responsibility on actors that they understand the nature of character well and give their performance accordingly. The writer might have etched out the character well but if actors don’t give their best towards the character then audience will not enjoy the true feeling of a particular role. On many occasions actors have done justice with their respective role through brilliant performances but on many occasions they have also failed to deliver the requirements of character as well.

Hence actors are awarded if they fulfilled the demand of character provided in the story. Many plays in the past were successful just because of character driven narratives like Pyaray Afzal, Zindagi Gulzar hai, Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan, Bilquess Kaur, Durr e Shahwar, Aunn Zara etc. Different characters in the story gives negative and positive vibes and hence actor will only become successful if he/she can conform according to the demand of character.

In past we have appreciated lots of actors/actresses on their performances in the positive role but recently I came across with some brilliant performances done in negative roles that have actually won the audience attention against positive roles. Obviously the success of negative role is that when audience completely starting hating the character.

Here is the list of those actors who in my opinion had done a commendable job in a negative role.

Jibran as Numair in Chup Raho: In my point of view Jibran truly deserves some special award for his performance in Chup Raho. Jibran no doubt is a gem of Industry as he always do justice with every roles. However if you ask me about his best performance ever then for sure I will say that his negative role in Chup raho was the best one. Jibran without any doubt is a versatile actor and I want him to appear more in high budgeted dramas with good script.

jibran

Sajal as Bisma in Laadon mein palli: Probably the most touched lady, I don’t know why she choose to play such characters that sensualize abuse whether talk about chup raho or khuda dekh raha hai. Sajal Ali is a smart actress who retains acting sense and that’s the reason why she is still in demand despite immense competition. Moreover Sajal Ali had a diverse portfolio and if we talk about her negative roles then her role as bisma in Laadon mein palli was so far the best one. Although the drama was below par and didn’t attract the audience much but Sajal ali was totally outstanding in this play and the attitude she conformed in her character was exceptional. I would love to see her again playing this type of negative role in some other drama.

sajal ali

Yumna as Shazia in Mausam: Where she can act amazingly as a jolly girl in drama serial “Jugnoo”, on the flip side she also possess a talent for performing negative roles beautifully. Yumna Zaidi was not impressive from the start because of the fact she never chose good dramas. Mausam too was also an average drama but in this drama her negative role as shazia was indeed an impressive one. Despite her debut performance in a negative role, Yumna was successful to irritate people through her negative character. Let’s see how Yumna will capture audience hearts in positive roles in future and for this she really needs to work hard in this competitive era.

yumna zaidi

Samiya mumtaz as rasheeda in sadqey tumhaare: Like I previously mentioned in one of my article that in past Samiya Mumtaz had always performed a role of “Dukhyaari Aurat” which definitely had questioned her versatility. To prove audience wrong that she cannot do any other role, Samiya Mumtaz had flawlessly performed the negative role of Rasheeda in drama serial “Sadqey Tumhaare”. Well I have not watched the whole drama but even by watching only few episodes anyone can pass a remark that she was indeed brilliant.

Sadqay-Tumhare-Episode-16-23rd-January-2015

Sarah Khan as Farisa in Alvida: Entering in showbiz in 2012 Sarah Khan had never impressed me as an actress. I used to think that either she needs to speak loudly or work on her dialogue delivery. Also before drama serial “Alvida” she was never a part of any Mega Projects. Currently her negative performance in “Alvida” had totally left me speechless. She had done absolute justice with the character Farisa. Sarah Khan finally proved herself that she is not a novice in Industry and can stunned audience from her performance if given a chance in high budgeted dramas. Sarah Khan is currently dominating the Industry by performing in various dramas Alvida, sultanat e dil, Mumkin anda dil nahi manta.

So do you have any more names who had a done tremendous job in a negative role?

Aamir Liaqut angry over his parody

Aamir Liaqut Hussain is a famous media personality in our country and his shows are known for their high TRPs. His programs are widely viewed at least in those 800 (approx.) households with people meters in our total population of 190 million, which decide the TRP. More than 50% of these 800 households are located in Karachi.

Aamir Liaqut Hussain has recently concluded his morning show Subh Pakistan and game show Inaam Ghar both on Geo Tv. Aamir Liaqut is expected to return on television screen in the coming month of Ramazan. Before that, he might also appear in Shabe Mairaj and Sahbe Barraat special transmission of Geo Tv

Few weeks ago Samaa a Karachi based news channel aired a parody of Aamir Liaqut Hussain in a show hosted by Azfar Ali. Here is the video

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2pssxm_this-show-is-the-reason-of-aamir-liaquat-threatens-samaa-tv-and-his-team-must-watch_news

In response Aamir Liaqut Hussain, expressed his discontent over this parody. As per Aamir Liaqut, Karamatullah Ghamro the producer of Sammaa TV has a personal grudge with him.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2ppwoq_aamir-liaquat-blasted-on-samaa-tv-for-doing-his-parody_news?start=0

Though on the same forum I, many times have criticized the programs of Aamir Liaqut Hussain. But here what Aamir Liaqut Hussain saying is partially right, parody of any person should be within limits and all the channels must have some code of conduct.

The trend of parody is quite old phenomena on television, it got popular with parodies of artists by Bushra Ansari and Moeen Akhtar in the 1980’s. Then in 1980’s the parodies performed by Bushra Ansari and Moeen Akhtar were praised for their decency.

After a quiet 90’s the parodies re-emerged on our screen with the arrival of private satellite channels. Among these Geo News headed the race of parodies with its program Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain (HSUSH)The program aired parodies of politicians, sports persons, anchors, journalists and artists and it is still aired twice a week. Sadly the decency associated with the parodies of 80’s was missing in HSUSH. The parodies of Late Benazir Bhutto and Meera were quite degrading and insulting. So it was the Geo News which started this sad trend of degrading others in the name of parodies beyond anylimits.

If Aamir Liaqut Hussain thinks that such things are crossing limits, then why not start cleansing this sad trend from your home channel. Geo still airs programs like HSUSH and BNN, so why can’t the content of both these program be curtailed within limits as per the wordings of Aamir Liaqut Hussain as a role model for other media houses.

Alvida – Episode 14

I must say that Shehzad Kashmiri’s direction has given this drama the edge it needed to stand out in the crowd. The beautifully shot scenes which are perfectly timed actually help understand the characters even better when they don’t say much. The fact that the camera focuses on a character only for as long as it is needed really helps because I have watched many dramas in which a scene loses its significance and does not hold your attention only because the camera stays on a certain character for much longer than needed. Short but significant scenes like the one in which Haya is sitting on the stairs waiting for Haadi but runs to her room when he comes and peeps out of her door to take one look at him, Haadi’s body language and expressions after Farisa asks him to sleep in the other room and so many more went to show that sometimes less is more! The way the actual feelings of the characters were shown in this manner and the feelings which they were faking were conveyed through dialogues was a very nice mix. The essence of those hidden feelings would have been lost if the scenes showing them were not shot the way they had been shot.

6 8

It was quite evident in tonight’s episode that Haadi too knows only too well that He and Haya are meant to be together but the odds are against them. Haadi is married and Haya is about to get married – non of that makes sense because Haadi does not love Farisa and Haya has no such feelings for Rameez either but since both of them know that there is no way that both of them can be together therefore they need to move on. Haadi does not even want to admit that he has feelings for Haya because he is married and has a child. Unlike the last episode in this episode we saw Haadi convincing Haya to go ahead with the marriage which meant that Rameez’s hard work was paying off! Haadi is finally convinced that Rameez will keep Haya happy therefore he no longer has a problem with Haya marrying him. Farisa and Saim are getting close to the point that Farisa does not feel the need to work on her relationship with her husband any more. Haadi and Farisa are constantly finding ways to hurt each other.

2 3

Haya’s room was beautifully decorated, very esthetically pleasing as usual! It was weird though that someone as liberal as Haya’s Tayee was confining her to a room like that. I wouldn’t have expected someone like Haya to go along with such an idea but apparently she did not have a problem with being a traditional bride.

The highlight of this episode had to be the way Haya and Haadi’s feelings for each other were shown; they found it impossible to let go of each other. Also the manner in which Rameez’s insecurities were highlighted in this episode went to show that he had the sort of connection with Haya that he could understand that all was not good yet he was willing to take the risk. Haya’s conversation with her Tayee showed what she was really feeling but she would never admit her true feelings in front of anyone else except Haadi.

11 13

Sanam Jung looked very pretty and acted exceptionally well all through tonight’s episode. Imran Abbas made me feel for Haadi’s character which is actually shaping out to be good! Sara Khan and Zahid Ahmed are performing their roles really well. The scene in which the Khala was checking out how heavy the gold set was made me laugh! Where was Haya’s Taya in this episode?

14 15

The preview of the next episode showed that Haya will soon find out that she made a huge mistake by getting married to someone she did not love. Moving on is not that simple and getting married does not solve any problems but it creates more problems. Rameez expects Haya to love him…will she be able to do that when she still has feelings for Haadi?

Overall, this episode of Alvida yet again made it very easy for me to relate to all the characters and I can’t wait to find out how the story unfolds in the upcoming episode. Thank you Samira Fazal, Shehzad Kashmiri and all the actors who are part of this show for keeping us hooked to Alvida till now.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Zee Zindagi In Trouble For Airing Dastaan

0

When Dastaan went on air the Pakistani viewers more than the Indian ones could somewhat see why this drama might not be a hit amongst the Indian viewers. The news that there have been several complaints lodges against Zee Zindagi for airing this drama to the authorities does not come as a surprise at all. Drama Serial Dastaan aired with the title “Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam” few weeks ago on Zee Zindagi. The drama was edited a great deal to make it look like a tragic love story but that trick did not work. The Indian people still see it as the Pakistani version of the partition which makes India look bad.

dastan

While talking to an Indian newspaper Zee Zindagi spokesman said, “The soap could be set against the backdrop of any country that underwent the harsh reality of Partition. The show was telecast as Dastaan in Pakistan and we have made necessary changes to telecast it for the Indian audience. We have followed all broadcast guidelines.”

dastan1

We don’t know for sure whether the authorities will ask the channel to take the drama off air completely or ask them to edit it even further. The final decision will be taken on May 22nd.

Drama serial Dastaan which was an adaptation of Razia Butt’s novel “Bano” starred people’s favorite stars Fawad Khan and Sanam Baloch. The Play was a huge hit when it aired in Pakistan and was given many awards. It is now considered a classic.

What will be the fate of Dastaan in India? It remains to be seen!

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 09!

Hmmmm!!! I am actually not sure what to say about this episode of Diyar-e-Dil as in how to say it. This episode was done so well but it marked the exit of our favourite character Suhaib. This episode was just so emotional & I still am trying to gather myself. I love this play for the fact that each & every situation strikes a chord every single time because the crux of it is conveyed so beautifully that you just can’t help getting engrossed in it. I must commend the director for giving such a beautiful picture to an equally beautiful script.

Suhaib knew something big was about to happen. He knew that he needed to take a few steps before he left because his intuition was warning him of something unavoidable. He could predict but he couldn’t prevent that is why he was so particular as he could feel that’s the only time he would get to spend with his family. An outing with the whole family, a heart-to-heart conversation with Arjumand & Agha Jaan made his journey complete. He died after doing all that he has done his whole life & that was giving an utmost attention to his family. He got to spend time with his children, he got to know how content his wife was with him & in the end, he succeeded in convincing Agha Jaan to overrule his word & welcome Behroz back in his life as he knew, his departure will leave a void which now only Behroz would be able to fill. Suhaib did reunite his father & his brother but what’s sad is that where Suhaib slept peacefully that night with a feeling of victory, knowing what he has done what was right, he has now left a lot of regret in his brother’s life & has left a dent in Agha Jaan’s heart which can’t be mended.

I loved the conversations Suhaib had with his wife, it showed the transparency they both shared where he also told her about the meeting he & Laila had. I couldn’t help draw a comparison between their relation & the relation Behroz & Ruhina share because they might’ve begun their lives on the basis of love, they lack the strength & emotional dependency on each other whereas both Suhaib & Arjumand didn’t have the factor of love in their lives when they got married, their relation grew to be perfect & was so strong that they both had nothing but honesty to offer to each other. I loved the way Suhaib talked so highly of Arjumand in front of Laila, it showed how much of a high regard he had of his wife & how much he truly he loved her.

The conversation Suhaib had with Agha Jaan obviously set the grounds for what will & what should happen next. All he wanted was for Behroz to know that he had no such plans which he accused Suhaib of & he wanted Agha Jaan to not only forgive but accept Behroz wholeheartedly as he wanted all the misunderstandings to subside because Suhaib proved it time & again that the only thing that mattered to him the most was his whole family. His whole life revolved around his family; his people which is why he wanted to complete the family picture by mending the broken ties of Agha Jaan & Behroz. I absolutely loved the reactions & the replies of Agha Jaan too. I also felt bad for him because Behroz is so big on his ego that now it had to be Agha Jaan again, who was supposed to ask him to come back. Yes, Behroz did try once, but that’s it! I feel he should’ve tried harder but sadly, he is a weak person who let his ego rule, rather ruin his whole life.

I know it is supposed to be that way, Behroz will spend the rest of his life in deep sorrow & regret but then I find his character unforgiveable. He may indulge in a deep sense of regret, he may now do everything that Suhaib wanted & he may do everything to please Agha Jaan but somehow I don’t think I’ll be able to like his character ever. Seems like Ruhina spends a lot of time ‘chatting’ with her Bhabhi-love. If she had spent half as much time on her husband as much as she spends in paying attention to her Bhabhi, she would’ve been able to understand what Behroz was going through every single day of his life. It seems that Ruhina kind of feels relieved when Behroz doesn’t let her know what he is feeling because then she then goes back to her bubble of perfect life without having to worry about anything.

I don’t know how many times I’ve used to word ‘love’ in this review but yes; I absolutely loved the way things were told. I obviously hated seeing an end to Suhaib’s character but the way they took us through that journey was beautiful, emotional & heart-wrenching; all at the same time & this is what I have always loved about Diyar-e-Dil; the way they complete every scenario by giving us that extra something to connect to & relish.

It goes without saying that the acting of every single one of them was spot on. Abid Ali conveyed the feelings of a grieving father to a T. Ali Rehman was remarkable in this episode as well especially because he was able to carry that sad look in his eyes even though he was trying to act all normal & happy, he totally nailed it. Everything about this episode was perfect except for the fact that the Chaandi on Ruhina’s hair kept on disappearing & reappearing in different scenes. So far I believe Sanam Saeed is a weak addition to the lot because when a certain star name gets associated with a character, you tend to expect a lot but so far, she hasn’t delivered & looks like it will remain this way & oh, I think Osman Khalid Butt doesn’t need this amount of makeup. He naturally has a good face, so yes, a little touch ups are understandable because they’re a demand of the camera but he doesn’t need to have a heavy-hand on the makeup as it makes his face look expressionless. I am sure he has done an amazing job as far as the acting is concerned, so for that I can’t wait to see more interactions between Wali & Faarah. Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil & let me know how emotional did you guys get because I cried a bucket. :/

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Junaid Jamshed Speaks Up About How Much Aamir Liaquat Hurt Him

0

Aamir Liaquat has always been very vocal about everything which he thinks is wrong in the society or even with a fellow colleague. That is why when Junaid Jamshed committed a mistake he did not take long to react. When he reacted his statement on live TV was very harsh. He called Junaid Jamshed’s dead mother names and said so many other things to him. Junaid Jamshed was heart broken even at that time not only because of what Aamir Liaquat said but also because even when he begged the public to forgive him they did not.

Junaid Jamshed had to leave the country because there was threat to his life but he has obviously not forgotten what happened. On Mother’s Day Junaid Jamshed’s tweet proved that Aamir Liaquat’s statements about his mother had hurt him and his family very badly.
