Ramazan Transmission 2017 Ratings: Bol Boasts Record Breaking Viewership, ARY Leads The TRP Chart!

Back in 2000’s Ramzan transmission meant listening to naats and watching shows which interpreted the real meaning of Islam. Come 2017 and the audiences are silently praying for the return of sanity and secretly wondering what will the hosts do this Ramazan to sway the rating chart?

All the channels are playing it safe to have the highest TRP. So, let’s see who’s ruling the Trp charts this Ramzan.

This year, the top most popular leading hosts are of ARY Digital and Bol TV.Ramazan Transmission 2017 Ratings: Bol Boasts Record Breaking Viewership, ARY Leads The TRP Chart!

Bol Tv might just have guaranteed themselves a top spot on the ratings chart for Ramazan by locking deal with Amir Liaquat. While, the man of the moment, Fahad Mustafa continues to host his ever-popular game show, Jeeto Pakistan after Iftar.

At one hand, Bol’s game show ‘Aesay Nahi Chalega’ being hosted by Amir Liaquat is giving away mini airplanes. On the other hand, Ary Digital’s show ‘Jeeto Pakistan’ hosted by Fahad Mustafa is giving away around 10 cars per show.

ARY Digital has released its official ratings which also includes statistics of various other channels like Geo Entertainment, Hum TV and TV One. ARY leads with 379 GRPs for the 1st and 2nd of Ramadan transmissions 2017 for Shan e Ramzan and Jeeto Pakistan.

Ushna Shah Speaks Up About Ramzan Transmissions

Ushna Shah Speaks Up About Ramzan Transmissions

Ushna Shah has comes leaps and bounds in terms of acting and performance. For last six weeks, Alif Allah Or Insan’s most magical moments have been due to her breathtaking portrayal of an ambitious beggress.

The phenomenal actress has now shown that she is aware of the social conflicts in our society and wants to speak up about them. I, for one, find it commendable that coming from the same industry, she had the guts to outrightly criticise its most profitable business at the moment.

Everything she said was on spot. There is one thing to be religious because that aspect and its decision lies solely with the Almighty. But this is another altogether to pretend to be someone you are not and that’s not being judgmental. The taking on of dopattas only in Ramzan and calling religious scholars in dozens suddenly to appear on the show as if they have just now became aware of their existence in the society and those grand sets with swans roaming behind hosts and giving extravagant gifts every day to audience, all speaks for itself.

We certainly do live in a commercial era and everything that possible can be is on sale, but it would save our generations if we are able to draw the line somewhere and atleast not sell religion by decorating it and marketing it in its most glamorous form.

So hats off to Ushna Shah for speaking up against this hypocrisy and also explaining that by doing this, she is not trying to elevate herself on a moral pedestal. More power to you, girl !!!

Amir Liaqat Replies With Even More Love To Fahad Mustafa

Recently Fahad Mustafa praised Amir Liaqat on live television during a running of his show Jeeto Pakistan. He stopped midway through the show and told the audience to clap, with him, for Amir Liaqat and it was quite obvious that the crowd seemed perplexed at first. He went on to say ‘Chai aap manain na manain, aap (Amir Liaqat) ka aur mera rishta likh diya gaya hai’, adding that ‘ab aap ko mein acha lagoon na lagoon aap ko mujhay bardash karna paray ga kyun k mein aap say dil say muhabbat karta hoon‘. The unexpected display of affection for Amir Liaqat from Fahad Mustafa’s side in no time received a reply from none other than Amir Liaqat himself. The infamous host dedicated a ‘yeh cheez‘ to Fahad and further said ‘agar Fahad aik kadam agay barhain gain tou mein unhay apnay seenay say lagaon ga‘. Watch the full video here:

Alif Allah Aur Insaan Episode 06 Review – Pretty Good!

Ohkay so, this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan was interesting but slow at the same time. It did have some developments to its credit & for the first time I enjoyed watching Nazneen’s track too because it offered something new other than her tantrums. I feel the direction is the strongest point of this drama & the way everything has been laid out really makes Alif Allah Aur Insaan an enjoyable experience to tune to.

Rani, a free bird has been locked down in a golden cage & unexpectedly she learnt the bitter truth a bit too early. Just when Rani assumed that she was learning to fly on her own, she got a reality check that she wasn’t as free as she thought she was because this cage belonged to Nigaar Begum. I think this realization was sudden but somehow still quite convincing because Rani might be innocent but she is not dumb or naive to not understand the intricacies of life because the background that she comes from has taught her a lot already. For the first time Rani regretted choosing this path as now she knows she has no turning back but I am sure the fighter that she is, she will pave her way out of this cage. I enjoyed the conversation that Nigaar had with Rani, like I already see Nigaar getting a bit uncomfortable with Rani & her persona, may be she is already feeling insecure as based on her experience, she can see the heights Rani can go to & this is something that Nigaar won’t tolerate, that too in her realm which she rules, because other than that, she has nothing to hold onto. Nigaar can sense a change in Rani’s attitude & that is why she has already started drawing a few lines.

So, now that Nazneen’s out in the city, living her dream, she feels she has nothing to do with Shahzeb & that is why she didn’t reciprocate the feelings that he was constantly reminding her of from his side. Nazneen got what she wanted & now she has nothing to do with Shahzeb, even though she didn’t make it too obvious in the past but now she gave a loud & clear message to him which obviously hurt him. Shahzeb’s mother Zaitoon could see that the reason behind Shahzeb’s bad mood was Nazneen & her attitude, like she could sense that Nazneen might not be in love with Shahzeb but I liked the fact that in stead of saying any such thing in front of her son, she tried to make him understand Nazneen’s perspective where she asked him to give her some space to allow her to concentrate on her education. On the other hand Zaitoon felt the need to speak to Nazneen & remind her of a certain responsibility that she as a fiancée had towards Shahzeb, which again wasn’t well-received by Nazneen as she is too self-absorbed & immature to understand.

Just when I thought that may be Nazneen’s friends will exploit her I found it interesting how they tried to shape up her character & tried to show her the bigger picture. I think these friends will help Nazneen a great deal & will teach her to not judge everyone based on their status & social standing. Nazneen’s outing with her friends & their comments about Basit were the least impressive scenes of this episode, however I liked Shehzad sheikh‘s limited performance. I think it is actually quite sweet that Basit is taking his job quite seriously & is quite responsible when it comes to Nazneen. I can already see Nazneen getting interested in Basit, but I am actually more interested in seeing what Basit will have to say when he will find that out.

So, Rani showcased another talent that she had, which wasn’t well-received by Chaman Begum. I think Chaman has read Nigaar in detail, that is why she ignited the spark & warned Nigaar that may be Rani was trying to take her place. Chaman knows about Nigaar’s insecurities a bit too well, that is why she made sure to convey the matter in such a tone that would get a reaction out of her. I am sure Rani is going to get herself into a lot of trouble but I want to see her fighting back & not succumbing to any of the pressures.

Overall, this episode covered some little details which were conveyed nicely. At this stage I can say I am looking forward to Nazneen & Basit’s track. I wish Kubra Khan had relied a little less on the makeup, yes I know she is carrying a look of a girl from an affluent family but her neat curls & silk dresses would’ve done the job perfectly, as seeing her waking up from sleep with her makeup on-fleek did seem a bit unrealistic. We all have seen her looking absolutely pretty with no makeup look in Sang e Marmar, so she could’ve brought that in again, in some of these scenes, also she had a great example in the form of Ushna Shah in front of her, who has given a perfect treatment to Rani’s character in terms of makeup & overall get up, so yes, Kubra could’ve done that too. Shehzad sheikh is another actor who has really been impressive acting wise in the limited coverage that he gets. Rani’s outburst was conveyed beautifully by Ushna. Also, Nargis Rasheed has portrayed the worries of a loving mother to perfection. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

Hamza Ali Abbasi Fires Back at Ushna Shah

The Alif Allah Aur Insaan star, Ushna Shah recently unleashed a rant against hypocrisy during Ramadan on her facebook page. Her strongly worded post quickly gained her much media attention. She called people out on “selling Islam and being a shameless hypocrite” during the holy month and especially pointed to women who “make millions off Ramzam transmission by preaching the word of God on Iftar shows and become tutti fruitties a month later“. The post has gone viral since and has started strongly heated debates regarding the merit of what she said. However few celebrities have spoken up about her open letter until now.

Hamza Ali Abbasi, known for his strong opinions and not holding back when it comes to conveying them, also took to facebook saying: Hamza Ali Abbasi Fires Back at Ushna Shah

Though he did not name Ushna directly, the time of his post and the way it’s phrased strongly suggest it is a reply to her open letter. Especially “Don’t call them hypocrites” seems to be in response to the central theme of what Ushna was trying to say.

An Open Letter To Mr. Sahir Loathe-ee

Dear Imposter with an inflated ego,

We were kind enough to ignore your outlandish behavior when your film completely flopped at the box office only because we thought that this would be the last time that you will use the common man and patriotism to make your point. In fact we didn’t feel it was important to give you any attention that you were stirring the pot for, however this time around you have gone too far and you deserve to be shown the right place for what you have done. You termed people who criticized you, as demi-gods but the fact is that you are the one who thinks has the right to insult people without even thinking how your uncouth behavior might affect these people who you pass judgments on like you are perfect! Are you really so naive that you have no idea just how ill mannered and bossy you are or do you have sick justifications in your head for your obnoxious behavior?

You might think that people have forgotten all the atrocities that you have committed over the years in the name of entertainment on your different shows be it your Orange Patiala Shalwar paired with Pink Kurti or your unsightly dances on Bolly tunes on Eid shows, but let us burst the bubble, we haven’t. We still remember how you would call regular people (those regular people who you termed as your fans when trying to sell your movie) to your shows and insult them because you thought you were better off than them and also because it made you feel a tad bit better about your sorry existence? This is exactly why the card that you tried to sell using ‘common man’ didn’t really strike the chord as you yourself are guilty of ‘disrespecting’ the common man time and again. This has become a national debate as to why people love to hate Sahir Loathe-ee, some might have solid reasons and some don’t and every time we think you are just a nobody, doing your job so you should be left alone, you push all the wrong buttons and show your reality to the world, justifying exactly why people should ‘Loathe’ you even more.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4zaG5i080g

The female student that you invited on your Ramadan show to participate in a debate had a valid point and she was clearly not saying anything against Quaid-e-Azam but you couldn’t stand the fact that the audience there appreciated her without you ordering them to applaud for her. Thank you for defying the essence of Ramadan which teaches people patience, forgiveness and the art of letting go. Thank you for proving that for you ratings stand above the lessons that Ramadan brings with it. There is a limit to showing off one’s narcissist personality traits in public and to thinking that you actually have the right to treat people like this. You are a clear example of a loser who has been trying to make a place for himself in the entertainment industry for such a long time yet he still has to resort to shortcuts like these to get ratings and attention from people in order to get your presence acknowledged.

Also, correct us if we’re wrong, but didn’t you bring your mother, a woman, into a limelight to seek sympathy from people when your movie got bad reviews? Didn’t you drag your mother’s name to show what a cry-baby you are? So, what does this tell us? In the hour of need you would use a woman as a shield and in the hour of rating, you would use another woman again but for all the wrong reasons? Why so rating-hungry Mr. Loathe-ee? Why so hungry? I wish some ‘woman’ in your ‘family’ had taught you how to respect women and how to put forth your opinion in a respectful manner especially when the one at the receiving end of your scripted, calculated and unnecessary fury is a woman.

You know what, it isn’t just your fault that you are such a twisted character, those people who sat there and watched you insult that strong and intelligent woman are equally responsible for creating a monster like you. Also, those channels and producers who think you are worthy to host such a show should be penalized for putting a sorry excuse for a human being like yourself in charge of Ramadan transmission. Also, let us resort to your tone and now ask you, ‘who gave you the right to come on TV?’, ‘who gave you the right to think you are capable enough to host shows?’, ‘who gave you the right to think you are intellectual enough to be insulting people left, right and center’ and in the end ‘who gave you the right to come on TV to spread T.B’?

From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely advise you to see a psychiatrist ASAP and get a proper diagnosis for your condition. Also, while you’re at it, please hire someone to deflate that balloon of an ego which keeps on expanding inside your tiny body. Just in case you want to use our names in your next Live Facebook Rant, then there you go:

Hamza Ali Abbasi Is Done With Ramzan Transmissions

The handsome hunk, Hamza Ali Abbasi is known for holding strong opinions and speaking his mind. However, at times, his honest thoughts come as a refreshing change.

The actor who hosted a Ramzan show last year has ruled out the possibility of his participation in the Ramzan special transmissions this year during the holy month of Ramzan. He also took a jibe at media for not highlighting real issues.

Last year, Hamza Ali Abbasi landed himself in hot waters and got banned after calling for equal rights for minority Ahmadiyya community.

Fahad Mustafa Said He Loves Amir Liaquat & We’re Speechless!

With the arrival of Ramazan, television channels sprinkle virtuous goodness, whether it’s in the form of game shows or Ramzan shows. However, Fahad Mustafa’s show, ‘Jeeto Pakistan’ has slayed all competition be it Amir Liaquat’s shows or other game shows which are completely blown out of proportion.

Fahad Mustafa’s show is certainly ruling the TRP charts beating all other games show, and the man is giving a tough time to all other popular hosts, predominantly Amir Liaquat.

However, just recently Fahad Mustafa did something which surprised us all. He stopped during his show and sent out his love for Amir Liaquat! Not believing us? See for yourself.

Fahad Mustafa is surely an admirable person and the audience is in awe of the actor and producer who has been part of some of the best television shows and movies as well.

Pictures from Ramadan Pakistan Proving Ahsan Khan is The Cutest

The star has won Pakistan over by his recent role in Udaari as Paa Imitiaz, a challenging role that many would not have been able to do justice. His portrayal of the character was astounding and managed to uplift the drama and HumTV into new heights. Even more unprecedented is the work Ahsan Khan has been doing after the show in an effort to make sure that the issue of child abuse does not die down with the show. In his acceptance speech for Best TV Actor at Lux Style Awards 2017, he mentioned the responsibility many of those in the entertainment industry have. “Television is such an effective medium and there is so much happening around you that you have to make socially aware content.”

He, along with Muniba Mazari and Juggun Kazim, will feature in a live Iftaar transmission aired on PTV Home everyday this Ramzan and the photos from the set show the three having a great time and Ahsan Khan being nothing less than his charming self.

Here’s a picture Ahsan shared on Instagram of him and Muniba, making us all wish we were a part of that conversation too.

Momina Opens Up & Encourages People To Talk About Depression!

Momina Mustehsan made waves in Pakistan with her songs in Coke Studio, and since then there has been no stopping her! The nation has become obsessed with the singer and we have just the news to make you adore her even more.

The singer who came into the public eye all of a sudden was a victim of depression. She was attacked on social media, and became a bit depressed and didn’t leave her room for a few days. With stardom, comes great trivialities and depression is one of them!

Momina Mustehsan is now taking an initiative to encourage people to talk about depression. She took to Instagram and shared the message,

Have any of you ever had anxiety? Have you ever experienced depression? I know I have! Did you reach out for help? Did you talk about it? Let’s start a dialogue. Let’s break the silence. I’m ready to talk. Are you?

Seems like the afreen afreen singer is starting a campaign against depression.

Adnan Malik talked about his debut film Cake!

Adnan Malik who was loved by all as Khalil in Sadqay Tumhare and seen this year in Dil Banjara is all set to star in the movie cake starring Amina Sheikh and Sanam Saeed as sisters. The film also stars Faris Khalid and Hira hussain. The film is being termed as a family drama focusing on the story of two sisters. Adnan talked to images recently in an interview and had some interesting things to say. Check out!

Adnan Malik talked about his debut film Cake!

Images: From an insider’s perspective, tell us why cine-goers should look forward to Cake’s release.

Adnan Malik: Because it’s a heartfelt story, beautifully told, with top-shelf performances. It’s honest, it’s funny and it’s touching. It’s not a film on the surface, but deals with family dynamics and relationships in the same way that I look at them.

I remember when I first read the script I was both laughing and had tears in my eyes. If reading a script can do that to you, if it can move you, and make you reflect on your own life and your own choices, then it’s something powerful.

I don’t act for fame, money or recognition; I do it because I have something to say. Something in the character needs to resonate with me, and Cake has definitely got something for everyone. I don’t think Pakistan has seen a film like this before. It’s hip, current, and will emotionally move you. And my character will totally surprise you.

Adnan Malik talked about his debut film Cake!

Images: Is that what moved you to make your big screen debut with an apparently non-commercial; film like Cake?

Adnan: I think Cake is very much commercial. Internationally, look at Kapoor & Sons, it became popular because of its storyline. Cake’s independent in the sense that it doesn’t have a big production house backing it as of yet.

I think we all choose our own paths and at the end of the day, I for one, only want to do projects that allow me to express my worldview, or a worldview that I resonate with. Performance should always work at two levels, what it seems to be and what it actually is.

Images: Tell us a bit about your experience shooting with co-stars, Sanam Saeed and Aamina Sheikh, and director, Asim Abbasi.

Adnan: Sanam and I had just came out of a project together and I feel she’s very professional, always well-prepared. She’s a class act. I’ve known Aamina for very long as well, we hosted a segment together at a recent award show and I directed her in a video called ‘My Punjabi Love for You’. I really like her emotional rawness and I do learn a lot from the both of them.

We all instantly created our own world and I share great chemistry on and off-screen with the both of them. Even Ahmed sahab, Beo aunty, Faris and Hira are all very good. The film has been very intelligently cast. I think Asim’s a very disciplined and organised director. He’s also deeply intuitive. Since he’s also the writer, he was so deeply involved in the film, everything was considered beforehand. He actually worked on ‘untraining’ us from the drama-acting. We spent a couple of months rehearsing and he would never tell us to do things one way or the other. He wanted us to own the characters and make choices from within that discovered space. It was about being present and feeling the moments. It was a real pleasure working with him and learning from him.

Adnan Malik talked about his debut film Cake!

Images: What can one expect in terms of execution, considering that Asim and his team are from London?

Adnan: Well Cake had a very young and fresh atmosphere on set with well read and well exposed people and everyone was treated as an equal. The cinematographer is the incredibly talented Mo Azmi, so I trust the team because I know they’re thorough professionals. Cake is by no means a small film, it looks great and despite being directed by a first-timer, I think the film will have a ‘seasoned’ feel.

At the end of the day, I would always watch a movie for its story and performances and this film is strong on both those fronts. I am excited to see myself on the big screen, but what I’m more excited about is what my character stands for. I think the audiences will have a strong and hopefully a positive reaction to him.

Cake is a really cool film that will hopefully appeal to people of all age groups and not only in Pakistan. I feel it’s one of those very few films that will give local cinema a face internationally. It’s real, it’s funny, it’s sad and that’s why it’s called Cake – it has so many layers to it.

Cake marks Adnan Malik’s film debut and is directed by Asim Abbasi. The film will hopefully release this year.

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 16 Review – I’m Floored!

OMG, this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was absolute perfection, like it gave me so many beautiful moments that I actually lost count of them. Week after week, I am all praises for this drama & it is absolutely incredible how the team of Yeh Raha Dil has succeeded in achieving these heights, be it in terms of direction, writing, acting or dialogues – everything always hits the spot. While watching this perfect episode, I wished I didn’t have to review this episode because that way I would’ve enjoyed it even more without concentrating much about what needs to be discussed or spoken about. Anyways, long story short, this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was love!!!

So, how often do we come across such a sister who wants to do everything to make her younger sister feel at the top of the world? Even though Nida has done everything to guilt-trip Hayat & anything good that Nida says or does come from her heart but then again, is her plan evil? Nope. Is her plan destroying someone’s life? Nope. I really think the writer deserves credit here for bringing in such a unique scenario where if you look at it from the surface, you might think of it as another sister rivalry story but when you magnify into it, you get to see the intricacies. Hayat really understands the gravity of the situation, also, it was quite interesting to see how she was feeling burdened from both the sides, where she can see how happy Nida is, so she doesn’t want anything to happen that might ruin Nida’s happiness. Also, from another side, just because Hayat knows Zaki is not in love with Nida anymore & she is the reason why Zaki is behaving this way, she is feeling guilty. I really enjoyed watching this entire episode of Hayat’s guilt because it was conveyed with so much of clarity & perfection.

I absolutely loved Hayat & Zaki’s conversation at the beach, like it showed that both of them were right in their own accord. Zaki is being transparent with Hayat at least, yes his mistake is that he hasn’t come clean in front of Nida yet but at least he has mustered up enough courage to share the truth with Hayat. Hayat on her own was right where she was trying to convince Zaki to go back to Nida as she is still in love with her. I am sure, even if Hayat would’ve known that Nida was faking this entire sisterly relationship with her, she still wouldn’t have given an edge to Zaki because she is quite dignified. Right now, Hayat might not know about Nida’s true intentions but what she knows is that her sister loves Zaki & that is why she wants to do everything to bring them together. I liked the comfort level that Hayat has developed with Zaki after his confession, like every time he says something on those lines, she just brushes it off her shoulders casually & continued sharing her perspective with him, as if she is trying to make a point that his feelings don’t matter to her because right now she is focused on what Nida wants & what’ll make her happy.

I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting of Hayat, Nida, Zaki & Jimmy. Even though Nida found out that Zaki went to that Dhabba with Hayat before but she ignored it. I think it is quite smart of Nida to be quite cautious, where she is being extra careful to not do anything that might give Zaki any reason to say what’s on his mind out loud. Nida could sense that Zaki might finally let the cat out of the bag but she didn’t allow that to happen. I think this showed another cute side of Zaki where he was now trying to tell Hayat that he likes everything that she likes, like this is usually what happens when you’re in love, you try to adapt to all those things that your beloved enjoys. Jimmy & Nida were exactly reacting how Zaki reacted when Hayat brought him to this Dhabba but now he was trying to show Hayat that he enjoys everything that she likes, which was cute.

Oh well, shall we talk about that ‘I love you’, I seriously don’t remember the last time I saw a confession this beautiful. Hayat was furious, Zaki was trying to calm her down & just when he hurt her, Hayat let go of her anger because she genuinely felt bad for hurting him & that’s when Zaki turned it into an opportunity to confess his love to her. Zaki’s tears, Hayat’s speechlessness & then Hayat’s attempt of ignoring what she just heard & Zaki’s pain when Hayat didn’t reciprocate his feelings, everything was done so subtly but just so beautifully. Both Ahmed Ali & Yumna Zaidi gave their 100% & their chemistry as Zaki & Hayat is just incredible. Haye! Such a beautiful scene, which I am going to watch again after completing this review, haha!

Well, even though this episode had so many amazing dialogues but I always enjoy the ones that Haroon has in store for us always. I loved how he was teasing Zaki because he knew he was already in a difficult situation. ‘Ishq-e-Mazaji appko Ishq-e-Haqeeqi ki taraf le gaya hai’, ‘tum apne appko shayad Allah ki rah mai waqf karne walay ho’, lol, Haroon tried to push Zaki to the limit in order to motivate him to do the right thing. It was amazing how Haroon was all praises for Hayat because he knew that she is a tough cookie to crack & she is giving Zaki a run for his money. I found it sweet how Haroon actually prayed for Hayat to accept Zaki’s feelings because he sees her as a better partner for Zaki than in comparison to Nida.

Overall, this episode was incredible & beautiful, it was filled with such amazing moments that I thorougly enjoyed watching it. Another aspect that I enjoyed the most was how they shed a light on a relationship that Nida & Hayat are sharing, like even though Nida is faking it but it is good to see them spending time & developing understanding with each other because this way, Nida will actually realize that Hayat is not into Zaki & she never initiated anything. Even though Jimmy did side with Hayat but Nida chose to overlook what he said as she chooses not to trust Hayat at this point. The writer added another dimension to Hayat’s thought process by showing a session that she had with her student because Hayat immediately put herself & Nida in the similar situation, it’s like that student helped Hayat to understand Nida’s perspective even more because she could see how heart-broken Nida would be if Zaki will ditch her citing his love for Hayat as a reason. The level of writing of this drama is phenomenal & I love how effortlessly Mustafa Afridi has penned out such intricacies of these type of relationships. The director has done full justice to the script & the amount of hard work that has gone into keeping things simple & straight forward goes to show his grip on the story. All the actors once again nailed their characters in this episode but special crown goes to Ahmed Ali & also Yumna Zaidi for acting that ‘I love you’ scene beautifully. Yumna looked beautiful & Ahmed like Hayat said looked like a pakka filmy hero. The preview of the next episode obviously promised a lot of drama because looks like Zaki will take Haroon’s words seriously & take the second step forward. Oh yes, I think I enjoy the male version of the OST more in comparison to the female version, so let’s hope they don’t use the latter one more often. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yeh Raha Dil.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

Armeena Khan Shows Off New Haircut On The Set of Daldal

Back in May 17th, the star of Janaan, Armeena Khan chopped off her golden locks for a more carefree bob and she seems to be thrilled with it. She’s posted a few pictures on Instagram sporting her new look.Armeena Khan Shows Off New Haircut On The Set of Daldal
‘GONE! Chopped! Got rid! Sorry about the cheesy snapchat filter’, she captioned, adding: ‘I Feel better! #Celebratinglife’. Considering how quickly the temperature has peaked, its not surprising people would want to ditch their long hair for something more breezy.

The 30 year-old Pakistani sweetheart also rocked the style on the set of HumTV’s new drama series, Daldal. The actress will be working alongside the likes of Zahid Ahmed, Asma Abbas, Abid Ali and Muneeb Butt for this project. Little is know about the project so far but looking at other instagram posts of the cast, the show seems to be based in a rural setting. Zahid Ahmed took to instagram to say ‘Nihayat ghareeb aur nihayat dilchasp. Shooting daldal’. With the recent surge in dramas raising awareness for serious social issues in fresh new settings and innovative plots, one can also expect this to be turning heads too. However, it seems like we won’t be seeing much of Armeena’s new do as Muneeb Butt’s snapchat story on the set shows her wearing extensions but looking angelic nonetheless.

Recipe to make a Ramadan transmission!

It is difficult to define whether to compare Ramadan transmissions these days to a complicated biryani or two minute noodles. Let us look upon some ingredients that will help us decide the answer to this question.

The look of “MODESTY”:

I don’t even know where to start on this. Sometimes when I tune into a channel I get confused whether the hosts are ready for hosting a “Ramadan Transmission” or their “Chachu ka Waleema”. Heavily embroidered kurtay and sherwaniyan adorned by men and women with their heavy Anarkalis and shararas make me wonder how on earth these people are going to preach simplicity and the need to cut off our extra expenses and help the needy while looking like Mughal-e-Azam’s themselves. Styling is a whole debate in itself with our perfect hosts adorning blinding highlights and hostesses with their beautiful hairstyles dangling out of the dupattas pinned on their heads.

Recipe to make a Ramadan transmission!

The lavish sets:

It seems like there is a race among channels that who will have the biggest set in the history of sets. I am not talking about the size of sets here but the built in aquariums they have and peacocks and expensive birds walking around. But then they help homeless people (which is a remarkable and positive thing) but make those people sit on their Sang e Marmar ke farsh and Italian furniture.

Recipe to make a Ramadan transmission!

The Hosts:

Yes we do have hosts like Muneeba Mazari and Juggan Kazim who never go OTT and who can forget the Late Junaid Jamshed (May Allah bless him with high ranks in Jannah) who always brought smiles on his audience’s faces. BUT ALSO we have hosts who bad mouth people they have worked with and used to defend fiercely under the banner Aisa nahin chalega! We also have hosts who got banned by PEMRA due to inappropriate dance moves. And yes people they are acting as our guides in this auspicious month.

The 360˚ turn:

You cannot actually fool the public as easily as you think but I think they do not understand this statement easily. Like you display yourself as the most pious person on planet earth for 29/30 days and on the very next day you start dancing on KARR GAYI CHULL on the same channel on which yesterday you were preaching how the changes we bring in our lives in Ramadan should be kept with us throughout the year too and now you are showing your moves kyunki bhai abb to Eid transmission hai na. Why do this to your own dignity and to your fans? *sigh of sadness*

The gift bazaar:

The transmission must act like a big bazaar too and must have a lot of gifts for the audiences. In my opinion keeping motorbikes, cars and specially the Umrah packages is nice and these too in a limited number but lawn ke joray and electrical appliances are just too unnecessary when the television already has a lot of game shows now offering these goods and even Hawai jahaz now. Leave the gifts to the game shows.

Recipe to make a Ramadan transmission!

Competitions:

Some transmissions are actually showing healthy activities like debates, quizzes and bait baazi. Many talented speakers are seen in them which is a delight to watch but in some shows these competitions really look staged with the host getting more attention than the participants.

The cooking show:

Each transmission has its own chef who teaches the audience new and easy dishes to make throughout Ramadan. Yes they also commercialize products again and again like the chef will mention the name of the cooking oil a million times which sometimes gets annoying but we understand it is your job.

Some uncontrolled audiences:

People jumping over each other and snatching the pillows and gift hampers being distributed by the team are also a must have of every Ramadan transmission. People must keep their integrity specially when Islamic scholars and renowned personalities are sitting in front of you. Why showcase yourself like that when you know whole Pakistan is watching and making fun of you.

Some really good things:

There are some really tasty ingredients in the recipe too. Let’s try them out. These transmissions are actually offering some very good opportunities to the audiences. Many respectable scholars and muftis are called to these shows as guests providing many people the opportunity to ask them about their problems. This makes reaching the ones who have command on masails very easy. The tales of our Holy Prophets are also narrated on these shows. PTV provided whole Pakistan with the opportunity to listen to Maulana Tariq Jameel’s bayans which was a commendable effort. Help reaches to many poor people by people’s zakaat and sadqaat; some of them ill who cannot afford to get treatment otherwise. These transmissions have naat khawans who make our hearts warm when the recite beautiful poetry written about our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

These are some necessary ingredients of a Ramadan show. Please comment whether you like the final dish or not.

PEMRA Issues Notice To Geo Entertainment For Showing Game Shows During Ramazan

The holy month of Ramazan is here and it’s the chance to enhance our knowledge about Islam.

With so many channels and shows these days, it is difficult to keep tabs on everything that’s being aired, however, Pemra doesn’t fail to stay active on a few matters, to say the least.

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has issued show cause notices to three TV channels, including Geo Entertainment, for violating the guidelines regarding Ramazan transmission.

Pemra accused the channels of broadcasting the quiz programmes before 9 pm in violation of para V of the directions.

The watchdog had issued guidelines for media outlets to follow during the month of Ramazan and the notification stated that the game shows would not be aired on any channel before 9 PM. Moreover, the game shows will be banned completely during last ten days of Ramazan.

Jeeto Pakistan has broken the TRP records!

According to the news Fahad Mustafa’s Jeeto Pakistan has broken all the TRP records on the first day of Ramadan. The show left behind all other channels in the race.

With Amir Liaquat giving out helicopters this season Fahad’s SOCH LO still stood out as a winner. The show is as usual packed with prizes with the gold increased to 100 Tolas.

Sahir Lodhi Loses Cool During Ramazan Show! Reality Or Scripted?

The Ramzan show of every channel is the first thing that pops up on our screens as soon as we turn on the TV during the holy month of Ramzan. The content of these shows is becoming bizarre each passing year.

The host of Tv One’s Ramazan Transmission Sahir Lodhi has been running a Ramazan Transmission. Just recently, a young girl, challenged Quaid-e-Azam, the founder of the nation, during the speech segment in his show. Predominantly, Sahir Lodhi lost his control and stopped her speech immediately.

The victim of mockery was once again criticised on social media as some people thought that he overreacted.

Break the News, Don’t make the News:

Today we live in a society where each day begins with a breaking news. From Imran Khan wearing black shalwar kameez and halwa puri being distributed in his dharna to different dramatic versions of Tayyaba’s heart-wrenching story, from the Pakistan Cricket players getting bombarded with questions without proven guilty to propaganda against TV channels in order to earn more ratings, from talk shows being highly controversial to the race of being the number 1 channel by breaking fake news, being broadcasted on the TV channels of Pakistan…

Yes, this is what media is doing in the name of freedom. This, unfortunately remains a sad fact that our media, just for the sake of ratings, has to gone too far when it comes to lack of professionalism and putting up a sensational melodrama on TV. The freedom was retrieved during the rule of a dictator which, so far has been getting misused by the channels.

Media plays a very productive role in a particular society and without media, the society gets deprived of information regarding what it is surrounded by. If it realizes the responsibility it has on its shoulders when it comes to imparting information within the society, the society will be destined to progress and prosper in a more effective way

The sole purpose of media is to facilitate the nation with news based on objectivity and facts but all our media does is creating hype over self-made fake stories in order to keep the audience glued to the TV screens of theirs.

We have all seen the fake shows popping up on our Tv boxes every now and then in order to earn more fame. Recently, Mubasshar Lucman, a popular anchor and a rather controversial personality, was convicted of several fake news breaks which eventually resulted in his ban from a reputed channel for the time being.

Orders were carried out by Pemra in order to address the issue:

It is directed to ensure with immediate effect that Mubashir Luqman does not participate in any programme on ARY News or on any other TV channel being aired in Pakistan either as a host or as an observer or as a participant

The TV channels in Pakistan do not hesitate from supporting a particular political party and acting as its mouthpiece openly. The elections of 2013 clearly depicted this when we saw some of the channels supporting a certain political party for the reasons they were able to justify in their shows and campaigns, while the others supported other political parties for the reasons they could “fairly” justify. This battle continued and meanwhile, the news broken by one political channel would portray a certain political leader as a more worthy candidate while the other channel would depict the same political leader as less worthy candidate or else , completely different  Some news channels also broke false news regarding  the poltical parties battling against each other

The very recent controversy that portrayed one of news channel victimized by two news groups, resulted in the latter group, reporting fake news based on the blasphemous grounds, to apologize for the propaganda going on air. Here, we can all question the credibility of news we stick to our televisions for.

Moreover, media has also been fueling the fire by showing these shows where the hosts openly claim to catch the criminals and wrongdoers (the law makers and police be damned).

“Nobody’s life was in danger from that show. No one was harmed.”

“The problem was real. We were not making up an issue; it exists…I was accused of invasion of privacy. Well keeping that in mind, we used actors to ensure no one was harmed.”

This was the statement of one of the Tv show host after her planned show went terribly wrong. This shows how these Tv show hosts get their own actors to perform in order to make it all  look real. On getting caught , the host pleaded for forgiveness :

“Okay well, for the people who got me till here, those who cared for me and respected me…what happened, whether that was right or wrong, I won’t talk about that, but whomever  I have ever effected in a positive way, I apologize to you. Please forgive me.”

Such acts by media put them in great trouble and an open apology might seem to work but the question remains that would they be still trusted like they were before?

The media has also been responsible for creating tensions between the celebrity couples (Muhammad Amir and his wife Farayal and shoaib Malik and his wife Sania Mirza) . Farayal’s parents were reduced to tears and begged the Media to stay out of the happy married life of their daughter and her husband. To this, the media responded by putting allegations on not only Farayal but her parents as well.

The Panama Leaks has been a recent center of attention to media. Each channel is trying to win the race by spicing up the news with sizzling hot claims.

The purpose stated by the hosts is to show what remains hidden otherwise, whereas, the real purpose is to get high ratings. One such show revolves around a controversial host running around in parks to catch the wrongdoers (apparently she thought so). This also resulted in her ban from the channel she worked for.

A private TV channel producer, recently claimed at a renowned University that 50% of the stories they come up with in their famous tv programs are “fake stories” .The reason behind this is clearly to get more people to like their shows by adding as much spice as they can muster. These TV shows mostly include a producer, an assistant producer and the host who takes the responsibility of producing most of content himself for he will be the one who will have to face the criticism of the viewer’s later, after the show goes on air. This gives a fair representation of the amount of credibility they lack Media plays a significant role in building up societies. It is a tool that can be used in so many ways. It plays its own important role in spreading awareness amongst people and also to provide them with good healthy entertainment along with information that is not taken from false sources that might misguide the people. In so many ways does media influence people? If put to good use, media can enrich the nation with knowledge and zeal to accomplish much more than what they desire but if the same media strives to get more TRP and to earn more money only, then the nation will not be able to prosper.

Media can reshape the nation through the positivity of content they show and also destroy it. It all comes down to what role the media plays when it comes to building the nation

Urwa and Farhan, Back At It Again!

Urwa Hocane and Farhan Saeed are arguably the most iconic couple of Pakistan showbiz these days. This couple has a chemistry that leaves you hoping to find someone like them in your life. They make you believe in soulmate, match made in heaven and the romantic novels.  The on-screen couple of the super hit TV show Udaari, is ready to grace your TV screens again on Nadeem Baig’s telefilm this Eid-ul-Fitr.

Farhan and Urwa have played pretty intense roles in the past, but according to the director of the untitled telefilm, this telefilm will be unlike the roles these actors have played together in the past. This project’s script is majorly a comedic script but it entails romance and drama too. The plot is nothing special; a young couple wanting to get married but facing hindrances in their unity by the hands of their family. However, Mr.Baig promises that the way the script is written is what will leave the audience captivated and engaged. The fact that one of the real-life fan-favorite couples (OTP) is starring in it just makes this telefilm more interest worthy. Farhan and wifey, both have excelled in the field of acting, both separately and together.  It’s time to watch their ‘together’ magic again!

The photos that have been posted on the internet only make one more curious and excited about the project. Have a look yourself:

Salman Khan Replaces Fawad Khan In Karan Johar’s Next

Fawad Khan is undoubtedly the most successful Pakistani actor across the borders. After winning hearts with his striking performance in Kapoor & Sons, the star was set to give the Indian actors a run for their money. However, seems like Bollywood has no plans to uplift the ban on Pakistani celebrities working in India.

A post shared by Celeblime (@celeblime1) on

Last year, a news surfaced that Fawad will be starring in Dharma Productions’ next venture opposite Katrina Kaif. The film titled Raat Baaki will be directed by Aditya Dhar under the banner of Karan Johar Films.

It was earlier reported that Fawad Khan will be replaced by Saif Ali Khan in the upcoming venture, however recent reports suggest that Karan Johar has plans of signing Salman Khan, replacing the Pakistani heartthrob opposite Katrina Kaif.

A source told DNA, “While KJo’s next directorial will be with Ranbir Kapoor, he wants to produce a film with Salman and Katrina in the lead as he finds their chemistry sizzling. Earlier, the same film was to star Pakistani actor Fawad Khan along with Katrina, but with the ban on Pakistani actors during Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, that is not happening.”

He further added, “Hence, the film-maker was keen to rope in Salman. The script is being reworked for Dabangg Khan, to make the character more suitable to him. The pre-production work on the film has begun.”

Hamza Ali Abbasi Shuts Rumours Of Dating Ayesha Khan

Hamza Ali Abbasi always has the attention of the media, whether it’s about his career or his outrageous comments, he’s always making the headlines. Apart from being a versatile actor, he also has a strong social stance and what we truly love about him is that he has never shied away from speaking his heart out.

Hamza Ali Abbasi along with Mahira Khan graced the Tonite With HSY last night and made some revelations.

The internet is always filled with the rumours that Ayesha Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi might be more than just friends. Hamza opened up about the rumour mill and shocked Mahira Khan, he said, “When Ayesha Khan gets married, I will be sitting right next to her, as a brother!”

P.s. sorry guys, I don’t have the link to the complete episode since it’s not available at dramasonline.

Shooting wraps up for Ainy Jaffri’s next!

Ainy Jaffri who was last seen in Balu Mahi is shooting in London for her next film Haraam. Ainy posted this on instagram after the shoot wrapped up:

Shooting wraps up for Ainy Jaffri’s next!

Ainy termed the movie as a story of unrequited love. While talking to images she said:

“Haraam is a story of love, the unrequited kind.” She further added:

“What happens when you fall in love with a friend who can never see you as more even if they tried? As unique and painful as it may feel, it’s actually a common human experience and [also] a direct experience of the writer (who is also the director). Haraam explores themes of love, cultural diversity and religion.”

The movie is directed by Serge Rashidi Zakuani who has made two independent films under his production company Stepping Stonez before this; Haraam being his third. Ainy added:

“They are currently in post production and Haraam will be his third film. SRZ (as he’s known as) tells independent stories that give a true reflection of London and its diverse ethnic make up.”

She also gave some insight into her character:

“My character’s name is Layla. The film follows the adventures of this group of young ethnically diverse adults who work in a picture framing store. It’s Layla’s last day, her best friend Geo is in love with her but due to cultural and religious differences he is scared to open up to her about his feelings.”

Serge Rashidi Zakuani also talked to images about his film. He said:  “I wanted to showcase my admiration of and for the Muslim community, especially in this day and age where the focus is centered around elements that divide us rather than unite us.”

SRZ had some really good things to say about his experience on working with Ainy. He said: “Working with Ainy has been nothing short of amazing. From the first script read-through until her very last scene, Ainy has been incredibly focused, gracious and humble considering her growing success.” He further added: “I feel fortunate we managed to get her attached to the project and I’m super excited for audiences to watch the depth, vulnerability and honesty she brings to the role of Layla. With a beauty that transcends physical appearance, Ainy is a global rising star and I couldn’t be prouder to list her as a cast member of our film.”

Ramzan Apka Hua!

We are once again blessed with the Holy month of Ramadan. It is the month of blessings and redemption. We’ve all been taught to try to do good as much as possible during the span of these blessed days, as each virtuous act is rewarded 7 times more during this lunar month. All of your Islamiat teachers probably told you that this is the month you get to harvest for your afterlife. However, it is pretty hard to work for the afterlife when you hear of all the rewards that are being rewarded to people in this life on your TV screens, right?

As I am sitting in my room, writing this article, I can hear Shahid Afridi (retired cricketer), the new host of ARY’s Ramadan transmission after the sad demise of Junaid Jamshaid, awarding bikes to some “lucky winners”. Till a few years back, this was the time I would hear Tilawat of Quran in my ears, but now, it’s “Firdos ki lawn apki hui” and “Dubai ka ticket apka hua”.

The Ramadan TV shows that entailed various learned religious scholars illuminating different aspects of Islam to the audience while answering different queries regarding religion are long gone, replaced with shows in which we find the audience begging the host for “gifts”. Can one even call these gifts? From personal experience, I’ve never received a gift after being ridiculed or insulted and these shows do just that.

The hosts of these shows do a great job at disrespecting and degrading their audience. They have been doing so since quite some time now. Is this the reason the audience seems to have become immune to all the insult they go through in order to attain a “gift”? The “motay motay uncle and auntiyan” that Fahad Mustafa calls on his stage for dancing can’t seem to shake the grins off of their faces when the entire crowd (and the rest of Pakistan) laughs at them for their obesity. These shows impart a very negative view of our nation and country. In pursuit of these gifts, people are willing to go to any length , and in doing so, exhibit to the world just how greedy and immature we can be.

Islam teaches unity and brotherhood; these shows encourage their audience to step over one another, make fun of each other- just to ‘earn’ a pair of service’ shoes! The chaos that take place to attain that the pair of shoes leaves one wondering whether the feet that are supposed to wear them are left in such a state to be able to do so.

Religion is used as a marketing tool in these transmissions as the actors and singers that we see singing and dancing all year, promoting the most vulgar fashions, completely change their persona during this month. Not only does their wardrobe take a 180-degree U-turn- the ripped jeans and short T-shirts being replaced by shalwar kameez- but they even begin preaching Islam! The level of hypocrisy one witnesses from their side is on another level. Every year these actors use these fake, pious personas to cash in on Ramadan.

It’s hard to pin-point when exactly it all went wrong. When did the Islamic quiz shoes get replaced by shows that offered a chance to win bikes, cars and now even airplanes? When did the TV transmissions that included informative discussion about Islam get replaced by transmissions that have people being forced to eat ‘aam’ for a bike?

One can argue that quizzes do take place during these transmissions. I am sorry to inform, but insane questions like “which coloured shirt was I wearing in my last show” don’t count as an informative question of a quiz show!

Have we lost the spirit of Ramadan to the race of ratings?

Our TV industry has clearly lost all sense of responsibility that it ever had towards the Pakistani nation in the blindfold of ratings that covers their eyes. However, this does not mean that we should negate our responsibility as individuals too. We should hold our morals, dignity, and integrity high and not give into the vile of shows that offer Mercedes Benz, and other materialistic things that force people to forget the true essence of Ramadan.

During the month of Ramadan, one should try to make effort to get closer to Allah rather than get tempted to win an airplane, and in the process, wasting the entire day to get in the hall where the show takes place. This month offers us ample amount of time for prayers and charity. It is high time for us, as a nation, to improve our state. We need to work for our own betterment and start rejecting these Ramadan transmissions that are nothing but a means to ridicule not only us but our beloved country Pakistan.

Today is 28th of May, the day Pakistan performed its first nuclear test. Let ‘youm-e-Takbir’ remind us what self-integrity and dignity is!

A very Ramadan Mubarak to all of you.

Sammi Episode 18 Review – Going Strong

When this serial started most of us were under the impression that this drama is going to be about the custom of vanni alone and it will explore this practice by showing the leading character live her life as a vanni. I am glad that Sammi is about much more than that. Every episode has something new to offer and the character development in the drama has been great throughout.

I love the way the writer highlighted Waqas’ frame of mind in this episode, he was a loving brother who turned into a monster who was out to prove that he was gherat mand mainly due to the pressure of his father and peers. When Chaudhry Rab Nawaz asked him to kill someone for him Waqas said that he did not want to be a murderer. Later on when his father asked him to do what Chaudhry wanted him to do and kill Sammi as well, he once again reflect upon the way his life once ways and the turn his life took after the incident on Sammi’s wedding. Although, Pervaiz’s death was an accident but Waqas got scared and he was willing to do anything it took to stay out of jail so that he could save his own life. Waqas has been shown as someone who is easily influenced but now for a change he is questioning everything he did and no longer wants to be a part of all this. Haris Waheed and Irfan Khoosat were phenomenal in tonight’s episode. Haris Waheed’s outlook and performance both are beyond brilliant. Irfan Khoosat’s portrayal of a father who is the perfect example of an ignorant man was brilliant. The conversation between Waqas and his father was actually extremely disturbing. Watching a father pressurizing his son to kill his only daughter was very upsetting and my heart went out to all such women who have to live under such circumstances.

My second favorite conversation/scene of tonight’s episode was the one which covered Naheed’s state of mind and the way her sister in law tried to make her feel guilty for doing something which was completely legal. I absolutely love Naheed’s confidence, although she does not have a lot of resources but she is a strong woman who makes the most of her circumstances. Hearing Naheed admit that she married Ghulam Rasool so that she could have a child was shocking but it once again showed how different this woman was from all the other women around her. The dialogues about haram and halal were right on point! I am waiting for the time when Ghulam Rasool will finally be back because I have a feeling that Naheed will get her happy ending at some point. Once again Nadia Afghan translated her character faultlessly on screen.

Chaudhry Nawaz wants both Waqas and Rashid out of his way so that he can marry Sammi. If Waqas kills Rashid, he would want Chaudhry Nawaz to fulfill his end of the bargain, Chaudhry does not want to do that which is why he wants Waqas dead too. Chaudhrani’s role in the entire scenario is also very interesting. Madiha Rizvi and Rehan Sheikh both own their roles completely. I did not really like the way Aalyan looked at Sammi today and once again Mawra Hocane was a complete disappointment. She did not do justice to those beautiful and touching dialogues and made it very difficult for me to connect to her character. However, I cannot appreciate the writer enough for asserting the fact that the consent of a woman at the time of nikkah is more important than anything else once again in this episode.

Chandni made her way into the haveli by the end of the episode and I can’t wait to find out what her plan is. Like every other episode of Sammi, this one too had some strong messages and the story moved forward considerably. This time around I really missed Shahzaib and even Rashid’s mother. All the characters add something special to the story and have a presence of their own therefore even if one of them is missing, they are truly missed!! The director and the writer deserve tons of credit for paying attention to minute details and for giving all the tracks adequate screen time in every episode. It isn’t easy handling a story with so many different tracks and it is even more difficult to make every track in the story count!

The preview of the next episode suggested that Salima is going to have another girl and Rashid and Chandni will finally be face to face! Looking forward to how the story unfolds from here on.

How many of you watched this episode? Do share your thoughts about.

Ushna Shah spoke the ultimate truth regarding Ramadan hypocrisy!

Love her or hate her but you cannot ignore her. We are speaking about none other than Alif Allah aur Insan star Ushna Shah. Ushna spoke her heart out about the Ramadan hypocrisy and this is what she had to say:

“I’ll jump on the ‘Ramzan Mubarak’ status bandwagon and leave my two cents here:
(Note: this does not apply to everyone, but it applies to a LOT of people we all know).

If you’re a di*k before Ramadan and if you’re a di*k after Ramadan, please don’t send me those ‘Ramzan Mubarak’ graphics captioned with speeches about how auspicious the month is and how holy you feel and how you seek forgiveness from Allah and send me the holiest of greetings.
You’re going back to being a di*k after eid and you know it!
It’s the same people every year.
The same directors who have hit on me and not given me work because some other actress gave in. The same people who have spread disgusting lies about me or exaggerated truths to blacken my name. The same jealous people who have gone out of their way to wish ill for me. The same people I have seen hurt myself and/or others for personal gains or even for no reason at all. The same people that will be bystanders as our minorities are tormented on a daily basis. The same people that could give zero effs about the plight of the voiceless in this country; be it the poor, be it animals, be it minorities, be it anyone.

You’d be surprised at how many people do this, and they do this every year! Every. Year
For some, this is a holy month of prayer, discipline and ablution. *For others, it’s the month of selling Islam and being a shameless hypocrite.* And ladies (you know who you are) You can wear your white veils, put on the most angelic makeup with the lightest glowing highlighter, pronounce your Arabic vowels from deep within your esophagus, pretend to be descended straight from above (especially some of my favourite television personalities), but your souls will remain rotten and ugly as long as your behaviour is the same for every other month. You’ll go back to lying, spreading malicious gossip, being cruel, selling yourselves to get ahead, screwing people over etc etc..

I’m not very religious, that is obvious, but I will take being a bystander and being deemed whatever the hell they deem me, over exploiting our religion any day! I have zero respect for the veil dawning Virgin Marys who make millions off Ramzam transmission by preaching the word of God on Iftar shows and become tutti fruitties a month later.

Many people will pretend to be someone they are not for a mere 30 days to cash in on this holy month, I may not keep all my fasts or say all my prayers, but I sure as hell won’t disrespect Islam and the millions of people fasting and truly abiding by the faith by pretending to do so just to gain the respect and the money I do not deserve.

Ramzan Mubarak :-)
Note: before you criticize, read this post carefully and try to understand that I am not targeting people who truly believe in the spirit of Islam, I’m targeting the hypocrites fake it every year for either pseudo respect or money.”

Short summary of the post: Sirf Ramadan main khud ko badal ke ye saabit na karein ke jaise aap ko baandh diya gaya hai! LOL!

Ushna’s post was applauded by many and people are saying she just spoke the ultimate truth about Ramadan hypocrisy. What do you say?

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 8 Review – Snoozefest

It was awfully difficult sitting through tonight’s episode which once again was one-dimensional because the focus of the story yet again was entirely on who should get married to whom! So far the story lacks depth and the characters have nothing grand to offer, in fact this drama has plenty of annoying characters. This episode did not have a single impactful or even entertaining scene to its credit. Watching these characters which are so plain, talking about love and commitment like they are experts in the field definitely makes it even more difficult to connect to their characters. Maheen has not yet given an answer to Gulrez’s proposal yet Ami Begum thinks it is a good time to force Waqar into getting married to someone he clearly does not want to get married to. I definitely expected better from Ami Begum’s character. What she did today was just plain shocking and not in line with her character at all. She has been shown as a really cool nani/dadi who has given Maheen plenty of time to think about Gulrez’s proposal but wants Waqar to marry Jia because he is friends with her. She is also very sure that Waqar is in love with Jia!! This had to be the most forced development in tonight’s episode.

The conversations in Gulrez’s house are even more monotonous and repetitive than the ones in Maheen’s house. Gulrez’s state of mind, his sister’s fears and his brother in law’s role in the entire scenario has been shown clearly in the past few episodes, now this track needs to move forward. No one in Maheen’s house except for her sister has talked about the proposal again. It is strange that Ami Begum is pursuing Waqar’s relationship with Jia more passionately than Gulrez’s proposal for Maheen. Everyone invested more time in talking about why Waqar left the match than discussing what to say to Gulrez’s sister or how to make Maheen come up with a decision. I hate to see talented actors like Saman Ansari and Malik Raza being wasted playing these useless characters which are like props more than anything else.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 8 Review - Snoozefest

The lyrics of the OST of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai are far more deep and meaningful than this drama as a whole. I hate to say this but this episode reminded me of Mann Mayal, the only difference is that back then I had more patience and stamina!! This episode proved that Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai is not likely to take off because it does not have enough substance. I definitely expected better from a writer like Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and right now I am very tempted to tune into Zakham because even though it is simple but it is much more entertaining than this play! It is impossible to connect to any of the characters, Jia and Ami begum are turning out to be two very unreasonable people! I was shocked when Jia sent Ami begum her father’s phone number since she hates him so much. This episode once again had some of the most dull conversations and the characters are losing their charm with every passing episode. Everything about this drama is too staged, from the scenarios to the way they have been enacted on screen. All those annoying commercials promoting shows which are going to be part of Geo’s Ramazan transmission made the whole experience of watching this drama live on television even more torturous! I am beyond disappointed with Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai and have no reason to look forward to the next episode!

Social Media: A Disaster OR Bliss?

0

With the outburst of social media usage in the recent times; one is always bombarded with viral videos, pictures and incidents from all across the world. Apart from providing easy connectivity to users it is a platform for promotions and business too. Many people today in the entertainment industry have been social media sensations prior to their breakthroughs. Yes; social media provided us an opportunity to see some immensely talented people but it has also been source of some dreadful disasters. Let us take a look at some people who have now become household names:

OSMAN KHALID BUTT:

The talented Osman Khalid is the jack of all trades. Talk about doing a task and he can do it. He is a good actor, a nice dancer which he just proved in Balu Mahi and a talented writer as he has written screenplays for movies Siyaah and Janaan. He recently wrote the script for Lux Style Awards 2017. But before all this he was known for his hilarious videos on YouTube; who can forget the hilarious parody of Humsafar that MUMMY AAP KYA KEH RAHI HAIN! He is also the co-founder, creative lead and poetry editor at Desi Writers Lounge, an online, 24/7, 365 days a year writers’ workshop and community that aims to showcase new voices in South Asian writing through their biannual publication, ‘Papercuts’. He is indeed a very talented addition to the industry.

SYED SHAFAAT ALI:

He doesn’t even need any introduction now. In my opinion he is even a better Bilawal than Bilawal himself. From Altaf Hussain to Imran Khan; he can mimic any politician and he is the only person in Pakistan who can make your wish come true of listening to the voices of your politicians speaking the truth. His latest video where he mimicked 24 singers is a proof of his immense talent. We will soon be able to see him in the upcoming movie Parwaz Hai Junoon alongside Hamza Ali Abbasi and he is certainly going to rock it too!

HANIA AMIR:

The cute and bubbly Hania Amir is a fresh addition to the entertainment industry. She made her debut with the movie Janaan where she played the character of Palwasha and won the hearts of millions with her acting. But before this she used to make dubsmash videos. And how did the makers of Janaan approached her? THROUGH A FACEBOOK MESSAGE! A place where all the girls get  WILL YOU FRAANDSHIP ME messages; Hania got the offer to play Palwasha and we had our very own Preity Zinta (Well she resembles her a lot I think) and became a refreshing addition to the industry.

Zaid Ali, Shaam Idrees and Shahveer Jaffery:

We all have known these boys making brown vs white parents videos and making us smile with their hilarious ideas. They became sensations being followed by millions and their videos were watched and shared by people from all age groups. This immense popularity helped them to make some place of their own in the entertainment industry. As Zaid performed his gig in Hum Style Awards 2016; Shaam and Shahveer got the opportunity to perform in the Lux style Awards 2017 landing them the opportunity to be a part of the entertainment industry.

ARSHAD KHAN AKA CHAI WALA:

Ooper wala jab bhi deta hai chappar phaar ke deta hai. From a tea stall to the modeling world his journey is a true example of the power of social media. As everyone knows a picture of him got viral while making tea and next he was getting makeovers at Nabila’s Salon and starring in music videos. The drastic change of his lifestyle showed the true power of social media.

But all that glitters is not gold; social media has a dark face too. It not only works as a talent hunt agency; it also provides opportunities to people who misuse it and defame not only themselves but the whole nation. The most accurate example of it is Qandeel Baloch (May she rest in peace). First time I saw her on a show called Desi Kurriyan where her name tag appeared with GULUKARA (singer) written under it. But after some time like every other Pakistani I was tagged in her video on facebook and found out that she was definitely not a GULUKARA. The scene which followed was witnessed by whole Pakistan and resulted in the loss of a young soul. She did mistakes but was she the only one who made them big? NO! All of us tagging our friends in her videos, liking them and actually taking out enough time from our schedules to comment on her videos and abuse her also made her mistake huge. If the social media had avoided her in her first video she may have been alive. In her case social media really proved to be a HUGE DISASTER! As of  now we are repeating the same mistake by trying to learn how to eat a tomato through Nasir Khan Jan’s videos, making memes on him and HAVING THE FAMOUS ’FUN’. Another deserving addition in the disaster list is none other than Taher Shah; though he is an ANGEL kind of disaster but obviously the guy would never have got this much attention if not for the social media and maybe the kid in the ANGEL video would have been saved from being a part of this disaster.

These are some pros and cons of the social media. If it is a bliss or disaster you decide! Plus Ramadan Kareem to all!

Titlee Episode 19 Review – The Most Selfish Mother Ever!

The story is being stretched to the limit now and even some of the primary characters like Naila’s parents are completely missing from the picture. Naila’s attitude has been the same right from the first episode and there has been zero character development. Now every time she thinks she might get into trouble for something or if she needs something, she bribes her husband and children! It was funny watching Naila buying all those gifts for her daughters after Amna saw her with Rehan. It went to show her materialistic approach once again but Amna has been brought up differently because her grandparents have more of an influence on her therefore she was not going to forget what she saw so easily. Naila is completely lost in this extra marital affair and thinks she is invincible. Even after Amna saw her, she did not change her attitude at all. Rehan is the only person for whom Naila goes the extra mile, she has never even done so much for her own daughters. This basically goes to show what her priorities in life are. It also makes me wonder how different her whole life could have been if she was married to a good looking man with money!!

Titlee Episode 19 Review - The Most Selfish Mother Ever!

Naila has been shown as a very selfish and reckless woman; she is not only having an affair but she is doing so quite openly. Even when her children are in the house and it is time for their kids to come back home from school, she does not make an effort to make sure that Rehan is not around at that time. Although, I want the drama to wrap up quickly and I am sick and tired of watching Naila getting away with everything but I have to say that the whole approach which the writer has taken vis-à-vis Naila’s attitude throughout the drama has been very realistic. Although she does not have a single good quality but somehow you don’t see her as a “black” character but you see her as someone who is very flawed. Even right now, the way she continues to spend time with Rehan even though she got a reality check more than once shows just how far Naila can go to please herself. Right from the beginning, she has been shown as someone who lives to please herself and is very rigid too. She is only flexible when she knows that showing flexibility will benefit her in some way. The affair also shows how two people who are involved in such a relationship do not pause to think about the consequences. Rehan does not have a lot to lose but Naila could lose everything if Ahmed finds out what is going on.

I am very disappointed with Ahmed’s character because sometimes it is very difficult to connect to his feelings. Even after going through so much, he still falls for Naila’s lies and gets exploited and manipulated over and over again. It is difficult to predict what turn the story will take from here but I hope that this will be the final twist in the story which will eventually make Naila realize how wrong she has been. She does not deserve to be loved by all these wonderful people and should pay for her actions! I absolutely ove Hania Amir in this role, she is such a brilliant actress.
