Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 1 Review – Impressive Beginning

Writer: Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar
Director: Farooq Rind
Produced by: 7th Sky Entertainment
Channel & Schedule: Geo Entertainment – Every Saturday at 8pm

This had to be the most unusual first episode which piqued my curiosity because of the overall feel of the play and the manner in which the story was introduced. I didn’t feel like I was watching a drama on television but the pace of the play and dialogues were such that it felt like I was reading a novel; when you take the time to absorb every single word and occurrence. It was the kind of first episode which leaves you with a lot of questions and like any other script written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar it had quite a few concise yet meaningful one-liners which were truly impactful. “Meri adhi jaidad aur puri nafrat ka malik hai vo” was one such one-liner! “Jis ko maal mil gaya, kisi ki mohabbat na mili, us ko mila hi kya” was another one which I absolutely loved.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 1 Review - Impressive Beginning

Generally the first episode of any drama introduces the viewers to the central characters and establishes their relationship with each other. This first episode however focused more on the feelings of all the characters for Waqar Ahmed (Imran Abbas) more than anything else. I am certain I am not the only one who is wondering why everyone hates Waqar so much. There were hints in tonight’s episode which suggested that he had betrayed someone (most probably Maheen – Ayeza Khan) he loved dearly because of which not only did Maheen suffer but everyone around her suffered in some way. Waqar thinks he had a valid reason for hurting everyone like that but the fact that Ami Begum (Saba Faisal) and everyone associated with him feels extreme hatred towards him suggests that he is the only one who thinks he is innocent.

This first episode opened with Waqar Ahmed landing in Pakistan after eight years of staying abroad while Ami Begum talked about her will because she did not expect to live for long. The story started in 2017 which means that the viewers will see the background story in flashback scenes. The drama has a lot of characters but not all of them were properly introduced in this episode. Ami Begum’s love for Maheen was just as intense as her hatred for Waqar. It did however seem like while Ami Begum could never forgive Waqar but she could not forget him either. Ami Begum’s hatred for English language and Munshi’s dialogues about Waqar spending his youth in England went to show that when Waqar left for England Ami Begum did not expect him to stay there for so long.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 1 Review - Impressive Beginning

Waqar and Munshi’s conversations were the highlight of this episode. Imran Abbas and the actor playing Munshi’s role owned their respective characters and apart from the ever-present and rather loud background score everything else about these scenes was picture perfect. The enthralling performances, the impressive makeovers and situations which definitely give you a reason to tune into this drama next week made this episode a complete winner. Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas have an amazing on screen chemistry which even made a drama like Tum Kon Piya a treat to watch therefore I can’t wait to find out more about Maheen and Waqar’s past and their story. Saba Faisal is turning out to be one of the best on-screen mothers who is constantly experimenting with different roles. The rest of the cast is also impressive, Sabreen Hisbani and Saman Ansari are personal favorites who always give every role assigned to them their best.

Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai promises to be a story of love, betrayal, perhaps misunderstandings and bitterness. What makes someone who loves you with all their heart, hate you so much? Can’t wait to find out. This first episode suggested that emotions will reign supreme in this drama. The OST of the drama is beautiful and completely in line with the overall feel of the play. I was expecting something more commercial but it was definitely great watching a somewhat unorthodox start to this play.

How many of you watched this first episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Films in April 2017

0

April the fourth month of the year 2017 has started. This month has no official holiday means no long weekend window for prolonged cinema business. This is the month in which summer starts in most parts of our country. Though no official holiday falls in this month, but the encouraging sign for the cinema industry is the absence of any major sporting event. In February and March cinema business is impacted due to the Pakistan Super League.

So far this year has been disappointing for Urdu films. All four Urdu films released in the first three months of 2017 so far have failed to leave much impact. Two Urdu films are releasing in April 2017.

Tum Hee Ho (تم ہی ہو)
Tum Hee Ho is the comeback of veteran film director Sangeeta on big screen. Sangeeta has been the most successful female director of our country directing more than 70 films in Urdu, Punjabi and Pashto. Sangeeta’s first film as a director was Society Girl in 1976 which proved successful.Till late 1980s Sangeeta was known for experimenting and making films with different subject. However with the decline in the production of Urdu films, she also directed many Punjabi films which easily falls in the category of Pulp cinema.

Tum Hee Ho is a story based on youth, romance of college students where Danish Tamoor and Quratulain are playing the lead roles. After the successful film Wrong No. in July 2015 it is the first film of Danish Tamoor. Quratulain last appeared in Swaal 700 Crore Dollar Ka (SSCDK) in July 2016. SSCDK failed at box office and Quratulain also struggled to register her presence.

The second lead artists in the film is Sheraz Sikandar and Mathira. Sheraz Sikandar has worked in few low budget films released last year like Fiker Not (March 2016) and Jazba (December 2016).

Mathira whose last film Blind Love (August 2016) bombed at the box office is back in action from Tum Hee Ho. Like her previous two films Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi (2013) and Blind Love (2016), Mathira is again performing in a flashy song.

Other prominent names playing the supporting roles in this film are Sajid Hassan, Umber Khan, Sangeeta, Ghana Ali.

Tum Hee Ho was under production for past two years and is shot entirely in Pakistan. Its trailer was released on 8th March 2017 and the film is releasing on 14th April 2017.

From the trailer anyone following Sangeeta’s work can easily conclude that it is far below her past work. The music of the film (apart from one song by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan)is not impressive, acting looks below par, story looks disjointed and the unnecessary steamy song on Mathira is beyond distasteful. The promotion of the film has also been quite dull, apart from releasing the trailer Geo Films and Sangeeta has not done any considerable marketing.

Film: Tum Hee Ho (تم ہی ہو)

Chalay Thay Saath (چلے تھے ساتھ)
Chalay Thay Saath (CTS) is the first film of Syra Shehroz in a lead role where her first film was Ho Mann Jahan (January 2016) in which she had a small cameo appearance. The unique aspect of the CTS is the male lead played by Canadian (of Chinese origin) artist Kent S Leong.

China is known as an all weather friend of Pakistan and it is the first film based on the romance of a Chinese and Pakistani. Previously Pakistan Television (PTV) has produced two tele films back in the 1980s based on the Pak-China friendship. One of these telefilms featured Behroz Sabzwari who is also playing an important role in CTS.

CTS also stars Zhalay Sarhadi, Mansha Pasha, Faris Khalid and Shamim Hilali. CTS is shot on the scenic locations of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) the area along the border with China. GB is known for its scenic locations and plenty of these from the Hunza valley can be seen in CTS.

The trailer of CTS was released in March 2016 and instantly get noticed due to its relatively fresh treatment. From the trailer the film looks decent, understated and subtle. But it somewhat lacks the ingredient termed as filminess, a must have aspect of films of sub-continent.

The music of the film is composed by Abbas Ali Khan and is quite light if evaluated on the scale of film music. It will be interesting to see how CTS performs on the box office. The success of such films can bring the element of subtlety in our films which at times became too loud to absorb.

Film: Chalay Thay Saath (چلے تھے ساتھ)
Release Date: 21st April 2017

So this sums up the Urdu films releasing in April 2017. So far no Urdu film is announced to be released in the next month i.e. May 2017, so after April, further Urdu films are lined up in the end of June 2017 on Eidul Fitr.

Gohar Rasheed To Do A Song With 100 Transgender Performers, Here’s What He Has To Say

Gohar Rasheed will be doing an item song with hundred transgenders in his upcoming film Rangreza. According to Gohar, the idea is to acknowledge the transgender community in our society and show life from their perspective and respect them at the same time. The song has been sung by Asrar Shah and penned by Akhtar Qayoum.

“It’s a celebration song shot in suburban Karachi,” Rasheed told The Express Tribune. “My character is a dholak player, who stumbles upon this celebration of a newborn baby where a hundred transgenders are dancing and participates in it.”

“It is an item song because of the elaborate and colourful set, mainly. The song is done in good fun and not meant to degrade them. In fact, you will find many transgenders dancing and celebrating with people on many occasions across Pakistan so it is not out of the ordinary,” he added.

A post shared by The SiddySays Blog (@siddysays) on

He further said, “When I was working on this song, I never thought about what the audience would perceive. The idea is to give transgender community an opportunity to be a part of the entertainment industry so they can be perceived as equals. But when we were working with them, I realised they were equally talented as anyone else, maybe even better. So, the purpose is to show that they can be good entertainers and deserve equal opportunities and equal rights.”

“When we talk about trans community, it’s always a little uncomfortable. But working on the song made me realise that it’s okay to hang out, chill and dance with them. This song is a statement on its own way because we wanted to generate a certain thought.”

Rangreza is a musical-romance film featuring a love triangle between Gohar Rasheed, Urwa Hocane and Bilal Ashraf. Gohar will be seen as a Dholak player who is in love with Urwa’s character. While Urwa falls for the rockstar played by Bilal. “But I would say it is thematically connected. The film is about injustice and how only the rich get the most opportunities. So, in that way, this song fits right into the narrative and conveys a strong message about providing equal opportunities to everyone,” said Gohar.

Rangreza is directed by Aamir Mohiuddin, written by Akhtar Qayoum and co-produced by Usman Malkani and Akhlaque Mahesar.

Nazr e Bad Episode 21 & 22 Review – Interesting So Far!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Nazr r Bad were a bit on the slower side but that doesn’t meant they didn’t have new developments to their credit. It is actually quite interesting how the course of the drama has changed & now the focus is more on the things Parvez is & will be facing. I actually hope that they also bring the story to that point now where Nusrat & Maham will find out the truth about Parvez & then Almas. So far, it is going quite interesting & has now become one such drama which I discuss with my family over Whatsapp, lol & we all unanimously think that everything that the team of Nazr e Bad has shown so far is convincing & based on reality!

I must say, I really liked how Nusrat tried to show Maham the bigger picture when she found her down & depressed. We actually never get to see such mothers in our dramas who uplift & encourage their daughters to think about shaping their future, that is why when I heard Nusrat saying all of that to Maham, it came as a pleasant surprise. So, Maham is officially out of Aftab’s life & what closed all the doors of hope for her was the divorce & then the final meeting which she had with Aftab where he came to return her belongings to her. I must say, it was another pleasant surprise that Maham didn’t try to take sides with Aftab & didn’t try to rationalize his behavior in front of her mother by defending him, rather Maham held him responsible for his weaknesses & realized that he couldn’t stay true to all the promises that he made to her.

I must say, Salma should be doing a victory dance now, now that her son is divorced. Salma must’ve gotten her son back & she must be thinking that everything is falling in its place but she doesn’t know that her son has almost become an addict. Even though their characters have gone out of the picture but Aqmal’s character was really good, like he was a father, a mentor & a guide to his son, who always made Aftab familiar with all of his wrongdoings. I so wish one day, they all find the actual reason behind everything that they all went through!

So, Aneesa presented a deal in front of Parvez. Even though she knows that Parvez can be of a great help to her business, but more than that, she also knows that Parvez is someone who can do anything for money, that is why without beating around the bush, she offered him such a huge amount to sign a contract of marriage with her. Even though Aneesa tried to put a blame on her husband Shafqat but her single interaction with him put things into perspective that she is the one who doesn’t want to be with him because Aneesa & Shafqat are two different people & more than that, Aneesa is a bit too ambitious & career oriented. At first, she got Hashim divorced so that she can get married to him but now when she thinks her husband might cause harm to her, she decided to use Parvez as a scapegoat.

At first, I wasn’t too sure about Aneesa’s character but while watching these episodes, I understood her importance in the story because if there’s one person who can give Parvez a run for his money, it is Aneesa. Parvez obviously had to agree to the proposal that Aneesa made because it was coming with a huge amount of money but Parvez actually didn’t know that Aneesa is a business woman for a reason & she knows how to play her game. The contract that Aneesa presented came with a lot of conditions which obviously didn’t go well with Parvez as he intends to get married to Maham ASAP but then again, he decided to give it a whirl as he knew he has other ways to save himself as well if things will get a bit too difficult for him!

So, after Iddat, Nusrat once again wanted Maham to mentally prepare herself for another marriage, this was something that I didn’t really like. Of all the people, Nusrat should be the one who should understand what Maham has gone through & she should be wise enough to know that a few months are never enough to heal the mental & emotional damage that a loss of pregnancy & a divorce may cause to a woman. Maham’s stance at that point was definitely right where she clearly told her mother that she wanted to do something for herself, she wanted to empower herself & build self-confidence, which obviously wasn’t going to happen if she’d get married again. I think this is a step that Maham has taken in the right direction. Obviously, things had to be a bit coincidental where Maham landed herself a job in Aneesa’s company. What I like the most about Aneesa’s character is that she does what she deems right, like she is a boss & she doesn’t take orders from anyone, that is why despite being told by Parvez that Maham shouldn’t be accepted, Aneesa personally made a call to Maham & told her to come to the office the next day.

Almas didn’t get much coverage in these episodes & Shazia got way more coverage than required. I know she likes Parvez but seeing her going out of the way for him knowing that she can never have him is something quite hard to believe, like Shazia takes desperation to another level. I am glad that Abeera got her visa & she’ll be leaving soon because her character was unimpressive & unnecessary at that!

Overall, these two episodes were interesting. Just when I was looking forward to how Aneesa will make things difficult for Parvez, the preview suggested that Parvez is going to get rid of her. I wish Aneesa doesn’t die because things just got interesting. All the actors once again did a great job. I must say the stylists have done a commendable job, where they have given each & every character a proper treatment to make their characters stand out, where Aneesa looks like a wealthy business woman, Almas always has a lot of negative energy around her & then there’s Parvez, who has such negative aura about him. The stylists along with the actors made a great joint effort in bringing so much of depth & detailing into these characters which is great. Let’s see what more do they have in store for us. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Nazr e Bad.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

Punjab Nahi Jaungi’s Teaser Is Out & Its The Best Thing You’ll See Today

It’s been a while since Nadeem Baig’s upcoming film Punjab Nahi Jaungi has been creating a buzz. And finally the teaser of the much-awaited film starring Humayun Saeed, Urwa Hocane, Mehwish Hayat and Ahmed Ali Butt, is out and we’re totally in love.

The first look of Punjab Nahi Jaungi is grand and dynamic with a desi feel to it. The teaser opens up with Humayun Saeed’s royal entry followed by some ups and downs. Mehwish Hayat as usual looks amazeballs and her chemistry with Humayun Saeed is just perfect. Urwa Hocane looks beautiful, and we managed to get a glimpse of Azfer Rehman as well. The teaser offers some desi and Punjabi wedding vibes.

Have a look at the teaser here:

Written by Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar and directed by Nadeem Baig, Punjab Nahi Jaungi is slated to release on Eid-ul-Azha. It might sound too early to say, but BLOCKBUSTER is written all over it.

Titlee Episode 12 Review – Shocking Twist!

This episode was going really well until the twist in the end came as a complete shock and wasn’t as convincing as rest of this episode because of obvious reasons! However overall, like all the previous episodes of Titlee, this one too was interesting enough. Although this drama deals with shadi shuda zindagi ke masail but the fact that this is a simple and for the most part a convincing story makes it interesting enough. Also, the writer did not rely on clichés and misunderstandings to take the story forward. Naila’s father and Ahmed’s parents are also a breath of fresh air although at times Ahmed’s parents are too sweet and tolerant but then all those “sharif” people out there who believe in making relationships last look for solutions therefore I find their characters relatable particularly because of the way the writer has made the viewers understand their thought process through their dialogues.

There are some people like Naila who look for trouble and create problems and then there are people like Ahmed’s parents who find their way out of these problems in the best manner possible. Ahmed’s state of mind was translated on screen realistically; he finally decided to end his relationship with Naila because he was certain that she was never going to change. This was his breaking point and it would have been so much better if Naila suffered a little before she finally went back to live with her in laws. So far Naila hasn’t paid any price for taking people she loves for granted and for controlling everyone around her therefore I am wondering if it is possible for someone like her to change at this point. I absolutely loved Ahmed’s father’s wisdom today and I think this drama is sending out a very important message; parents can play a very important role in guiding their children in the right direction. Although Naila is a troublemaker and she is selfish but she is not a negative person. She does everything to make her own life easy but she has never been seen plotting and planning to make someone else miserable therefore I have always felt like if she mends her ways, she should be forgiven.

Titlee Episode 12 Review - Shocking Twist!

Naila’s father’s conversation with Kamran about Naila’s behaviour when she was little went to show that she was controlling ever since she was a child and no one ever tried to make her understand that things cannot always go according to your wishes. Naila needs to learn all that and more! I am waiting to see how she will eventually learn to live without controlling others. The scene in which Naila threatens to leave the house when her brother and father tried to take her back to her in laws was executed really well. Naila knew that her mother will stop her and she was never really going to leave the house. Someone like her cannot live without all the help and comfort she is so used to.

This was an entertaining episode which could have been perfect if it ended at a different note. The convincing and polished performances by all the actors involved make this drama one of those very few dramas you enjoy watching even though the story isn’t grand. Also, the story definitely has a different feel to it and all the characters are brilliantly etched-out. The director also deserves credit for executing all the scenes intelligently.

How many of you watched this latest episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Indian Actress Sara Khan Detained In Pakistan?

Recently, the news of Indian actress being jailed in Pakistan caught everyone’s attention. The actress was in Pakistan shooting for her second drama Laikin. As per reports, she was detained in Pakistan because she did not leave the country despite the expiration of her visa.

However, in an interview with Bollywood Life, Sara slammed the rumours, saying “I was told to stay back for my No Objection Certificate (NOC) and I stayed in my five-star hotel not in police custody. I don’t know who is spreading such news. I was not doing anything illegal there. I stayed back to get the NOC.”

“I was two days above my visa because of flight issues. Then, the immigration people told me that I need to take the NOC. So I stayed back there, got the NOC and came back to Mumbai. I was not detained, I was retained there. The NOC is needed from the Ministry level, and I stayed back. Throughout my trip, I have been active on social media, how can people spread such stupid rumours. I was shooting for my show there,” she added.

Watch Video: Sahir Lodhi Lashes Out At People, Criticizing Him & His Fans

Sahir Lodhi’s Raasta released on March 31st and opened to negative reviews. The film, made on a budget of Rs 85 million, only managed to collect a sum of Rs 2 million on the first day of its release.

Many popular bloggers reviewed Raasta and mostly gave negative reviews. However, Sahir Lodhi feels that the bloggers labeled the whole nation. At a press conference, Sahir spoke about the matter and stressed upon the comments which stated: ‘Sahir is a cheap actor and has cheap fans.’ The comments apparently didn’t go well with Sahir, and he decided to hit back at the bloggers.

He questioned the individuals and asked who gave them the right to differentiate between the audiences. He said, “I am standing with the people of Pakistan.” He further asked, “How can you call them cheap.”

Here’s what he has to say.

Earlier this month, Sahir also appeared live with comedian Junaid Akram, who feels that the reviews he read were more like a personal hate frustration. He also shared that he’s uncertain to why Sahir always receives hate from the audiences. Apparently, the bloggers who reviewed Raasta also stated: “If you watch Raasta, you’ll be judged.”

“I had to put on weight for my character,” Saba Qamar Shares About ‘Hindi Medium’

Saba Qamar has already floored the critics with the trailer of her Bollywood debut ‘Hindi Medium’. After such an impressive trailer, one can only wonder how impactful the full-fledged film will be. The diva’s smashing debut across the borders is the most trending topic in Pakistan right now.

Speaking to Something Haute, Saba finally shared some details about her experience and the character.

“We had a great experience. Irrfan is such a great actor and such a humble man. It was amazing. At the end of the day all human beings are the same but then Bollywood is an established industry; the scale is very different.”

“I had to put on weight for my character,” she shared more about her experience. “And I had to train to get my Hindi right. I wanted to get the character right. There were times when I knew I looked bad but that’s what the role demanded. I feel that you have to work freely in cinema. You have to work without inhibitions.”

When asked, will she promote Hindi Medium with her crew?

“Absolutely,” she responded. “I’ll be traveling for the premieres in Dubai, Canada, and Australia.” Not India obviously. “In fact Raabta, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon, is also releasing shortly afterwards and the four of us will be touring together.”

Saba then laughed at the way the media blew her Salman Khan comments out of proportion. “I am a no-filter kind of person,” she laughed,

Tere Bina – Bucketful of Cliches!

I am a bit odd. Well, to rephrase that – my choices in dramas can be a bit odd. There may be dramas on air that everyone is raving about but for some reason I do not watch even one episode. Then there are some which are not so popular but I genuinely like. And again, there are those which are cringe-cringe and (did I say cringe?!) cringe worthy and I have no idea why but I watch them right down to the last episode. For example, the drama on Geo a while ago, Ye Chahatein Ye Shiddatein. I would never recommend it to anyone and there is nothing good I can say about it – yet I watched it each week, ha!

One such drama that happens to fall in this third category is being aired by Geo nowadays – Tere Bina. Written by Saqlain Abbas, directed by Syed Ali Raza Usama and produced by Aijaz Aslam, Tere Bina airs every Tuesday at 8pm PST on Geo TV. For those of you who have read my reviews/articles, you are used to my references of cooking and even if I tried to skip the reference here, I just could not resist this one time. Tere Bina is an example of a chef throwing in all the right ingredients and masalas – onions, ginger, salt, spices – all there and he/she envisions a korma because they’ve done it all right, but what you end up with is a very average chicken curry and that too lacking something. The team of Tere Bina seems to have skimmed through all the dramas on air recently and picked out common factors thinking that would make this a super hit – but fell quite short, in my opinion. Let me explain. In no particular order.

‘Mein mar jaoon ga, meri mohabbat nahin maray gi’.
No, I don’t think that actual dialogue was uttered in this drama. Not sure if that is an actual dialogue uttered ever but hey, the underlying meaning is the same. Romeo and Juliet, Laila Majnu all take a backseat – this couple’s love reaches new heights. While I get love stories do boast of passionate love, the dialogues in this one lacked conviction. When Umair (Sami Khan) tells Pakeezah (Neelum Munir) nobody will ever love her as much as he can and each time he grasps her hand with the – wait for it – ‘yeh haath chornay kay leeyay nahin thaama’ line, man, the romantic in me does not stand up and jump, rather hides its head in the ground like an ostrich!

The heart attack
Because let’s face it, the link with the heart (quite literally) in a love story has only deepened with time. Except the one whose heart lands him/her in the hospital is not the one involved in the earth shattering love in the first place. Sigh. When Pakeezah ran away and her father clasped his chest – face palm, face palm, face palm!

Coincidences galore
Eavesdropping was my go to coincidence. The must have in a drama. Tere Bina introduced me to a plethora of many unique ones. Pakeezah has second thoughts about leaving and rushes back home but alas, her brother has come back and closed the gate. She has no choice but to elope. Shame. Ha! Pakeezah goes to the hospital and is sitting with someone else’s child on her lap so does not notice nor is seen when her family walks past her. Maa, baap, bhai all sat in the same car – do not realize it is Pakeezah in the passenger seat. Brother out looking for Pakeezah chances upon Umair to ask for directions. Pakeezah off to the mazaar where her mother and brother are present too and they do not run into each other. Hell, at this rate I want to put on my own thinking cap and throw in some for good measure. What are the odds those will happen too?!

Signature move & signature dialogue
When the movie Dilwale Dulhaniya Lejayengay came out, we were all gushing over the line Shahrukh Khan uttered many a time. Then there are the one liners that make us shake our heads like Jeena’s ‘meray tau maa baap bhi nahin’ or Erum’s mother in law in Faltu Larki with her ‘aap jayen yahaan se’. Tere Bina has the ‘yeh haath mein nay chornay kay leeyay nahin thaama’ line followed by Pakeezah’s speech on being his wife and how she is near yet so far, etc. Then a simple ‘sunno’ or ‘psst’ or tap on the shoulder I am sure would do the same job that Umair’s sudden yanking Pakeezah’s arm to catch her attention does. And I will say yanking for she seemed to almost fall down the stairs in one of those scenes! Within seven episodes, I have seen and heard both of the above a couple of times – I am sure there are more instances to come!

Tere Bina - Bucketful of Cliches!

The emotional blackmail into second shaadi to save khaandan ki izzat
The age old, ‘once they’re married all will be well’ or marry the desperate cousin or else I will never be able to face my brother/sister again. Uggh. The actual wedding has not happened yet but Umair has agreed and the wedding functions have begun.

The bittersweet ‘sajaoon husband’s second wife apnay haathon se’
So nobody knows Pakeezah is Umair’s wife. Umair is marrying another woman. Second wife to be’s make up arrangements are messed up last minute and who is asked and agrees, with pathar on her heart to dress up her husband’s second wife. Why Pakeezah of course! Dramatic much!

Baji Sherlock
Because there is always someone who is curious. Oh so curious. And has a lot of spare time on their hands and sleuthing skills in abundance. In this case, Umair’s aunt who finds something fishy about Pakeezah’s presence in the first place and is constantly up and down the stairs trying to catch them out.

Tere Bina - Bucketful of Cliches!

Sughar bahu
I have moved quite a lot since I got married and it takes me some time at least to get my bearings. In an empty house. Pakeezah however not only manages to figure out whose room is where, where all the ingredients in the kitchen are and rolls up her sleeves to have a scrumptious breakfast ready – when she is a guest in the house herself! Her in laws love her yet do not know who she is. Ah, the cruelty, uggh!

Tere Bina - Bucketful of Cliches!

Filmy touch
The dance at Pakeezah’s mehndi, the a bit too-close-for-comfort close ups each time Umair yanks Pakeezah’s arm, Pakeezah running her hand over Umair’s bed. I mean, not to be a killjoy but even though I am all for music and intense emotions portrayed between the lead couple – something about the way these aspects are dealt in this drama failed to make the impression I feel they head out to make.

Tere Bina - Bucketful of Cliches!

But ek baat hai. When Pakeezah fainted upon hearing that Umair is getting married, I thought oh man. Khuskhabri – but it did not happen! I was actually disappointed – I had thought I was on top of the predictability game here but oh well.

So even though it feels like I have torn apart the drama, can I just mention here that I am still watching it? I was watching it on and off and then watched three episodes together and all these thoughts just ran through my mind and I could not help but pen them down. It’s as if someone picked up a handbook and planned the drama according to it. Cliché upon Cliché! I actually began watching it because the first couple of episodes were quite fast paced and I thought it was a drama about how life is after the couple gets married. Their life. The two of them. Not the second wife and the emotional blackmail, etc. Humayun Ashraf plays Umair’s brother and I feel has a fairly pivotal role to play so I am mildly curious to see what that may be. If Umair goes ahead with the second marriage and Pakeezah spends a few more episodes just weeping them away, I suppose I will stop watching. But for now having it play in the background on TV while I am surfing the net – works for me. There is one thing I can not get enough of though and that is the OST. It is addictive and I have been trying to find a version minus the drama scenes. The acting is nothing to really write home about.

Would I recommend it? I honestly can not say. Like I said, we all have different tastes and I feel I may stop somewhere midway but it has been an entertaining watch on a Wednesday morning when I have nothing else recorded on TV. How many of you have been watching this drama? Or let me start with how many of you have even heard of this drama?  Would love to hear your thoughts.

Saba Qamar’s Hindi Medium’s Trailer Is Out & Its Hilarious

Saba Qamar is riding high on the horse of success these days. After appearing in a number of television shows in Pakistan, the diva is casting her magic across the borders as well. Saba Qamar’s Bollywood debut Hindi Medium’s official trailer is out and she’s nailing it in full swing.

Irrfan Khan who is known for his versatility is bringing us a fun-filled ride. The trailer shows the journey of a couple trying hard to get their daughter into a good English school.

Saba Qamar shines in every scene, making every situation relatable and stands out in the trailer. Her role in the new film seems to be quite powerful as she’s perfectly playing the role of a bossy wife. The trailer starts off on a hilarious note and shows the struggle of the commoners and we’re loving the dollops of sarcasm it offers.

Directed by Sakit Chaudhry and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Bhushan Kumar, Hindi Medium is slated to release on May 12.

After the first song Pariyan, Chalay Thay Saath’s complete soundtrack is released on Patari and we must say, we’re impressed. And yes, the music of the film is just as interesting as the trailer. The score of the film has been done by producer Abbas Ali Khan, and a few artists such as Mooroo and Sikandar Ka Mandar have also lent their music for the film.

After listening to the music, one can surely say that we finally have some good, authentic and original Pakistani music which is not inspired by Bollywood.

The original soundtrack of Chalay Thay Saath consists of six songs.

1) The song Pariyaan by Bell is refreshing and gives a peaceful feeling, it’s written in depth and offers a music that touches the core.
2) Mariam by Moro is more like a full of life song with some cool tone.
3) Jeep Racey by East Side Story is a fun song with a touch of desi music and lyrics. It’s enjoyable and truly Pakistani.
4) Khalis Makhan by Bakshi brothers & Natasha Noorani is a soft song. It gives the feeling of serenity with soulful music which is extremely pleasing and a soothing to the ears.
5) The Jinn by Behroze Sabzwari is an ordinary song and doesn’t have much to offer.
6) The last but not the least, Bolo by Sikandar ka Mandar & Natasha Noorani gives a good feeling with some exceptional voices.

“Who’s Humaima Malick,” Ayesha Khan Hits Back

We smell something coming up, wonder how Humaima will react to this!

For those who don’t know, this all started when Ayesha was seen at Tonite with HSY and the host HSY gave Ayesha three options, Ali Zafar, Imran Abbas and Mawra Hocane, asking who had the worst debut, however, Ayesha Khan said “Humaima”, (even though Humaima wasn’t an option).

Indian Actor Rishi Kapoor Wants Pakistani Players In ‘Indian Premier League’

Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor believes Pakistani players should also play in the IPL (Indian Premier League) and has made a plea for the same.

He took to Twitter asking the decision makers to invite Pakistani players in IPL. “IPL. You got world players. Afghanistan makes debut. My plea is please consider Pakistani players. Phir match hoga! Hum bade log hain. Please!”

Rishi Kapoor has requested the organizers of IPL to include cricketers from Pakistan as well. No Pakistani player has participated in the IPL after its inaugural season in 2008. After last year’s Uri attacks, relations between India and Pakistan have been tense.

Seems like the veteran actor is impressed by the performances of our cricket players in the Pakistan Super League. He was last seen in Fawad Khan starer Kapoor & Sons.

Tribute Video for APS victims wins silver medal at US based global music awards

Story of Gulsher – Tehzeeb Foundation’s tribute video which is made for the victims of the Army Public School (APS) attack, has won a silver medal at the Global Music Awards in the United States.

The track was released in December which tells the story of two brothers,Gulsher and Shamsher.
The 13-year-old Gulsher lost his life in the attack while the younger Shamsher survived and then returned to his school with renewed spirit.
Story of Gulsher is part of the Action Moves People United album sponsored by UNESCO, and has been produced by Sharif Awan, general secretary of  the Tehzeeb Foundation and producer of Indus Raag.
Sharif told The Express Tribune he is honoured to have won the coveted prize:

“It was our artistic response to terrorism because that’s all we can do. We can’t pick up arms and go fight,” he said. “I didn’t get any personal benefit from this but I believe it was a scholastic response to the incident. I’m glad Pakistan is getting more international recognition.”
“December 16 is such a tragic date in our history that we wish to avoid it like the 1971’s Bangladesh split. But now, it’s forever etched in our minds. Lyricist Harris Khalique summed it better at the launch last year when he said he hoped he never has to write such a poem again,” Sharif admitted. “Earlier, we were unable to commemorate December 16 but now we must capitalise on it like all responsible nations.”

Watch the video here:

https://youtu.be/Y9AO1ONgKkY

Sharif also thanked his team for bringing Story of Gulsher to life. “Zoe Viccaji, Nafees Ahmed, Zia Mohyeddin and Arshad Mehmud worked free of cost. This was a personal project and we didn’t have many resources but still, they helped out. Even the Sindh government lent a hand,” he revealed. “Even Indus Raag 2 is nominated for a Lux Style Award (LSA) this year, marking the first time this kind of indigenous music is acknowledged by them. I will just say music will play its part. Each part of history has been reactive and responsive to the situations around. Now we are also making history by reacting and I’m thankful to everyone for making it possible.”

Bidding Farewell To Naml

What an awesome journey it had been! A novel which initially laid the foundation of taking revenge of  Murders++I should say, by a family which was dismantled by the rich relatives ended at pretty much the same note. The Kardaars horrific story ended at exactly the same point where Sonia the daughter of Hashim has taken over the charge of taking revenge without exactly knowing the truth behind all this fiasco. Well said by Nemrah Ahmed that the cycle of revenge keeps on going and passes down to generation after generation. The true wisdom behind the forgiveness  of Murder at the time of conquer of Makkah by our beloved Prophet Muahmmad S.A.W was to put a seal to this whole cycle of revenge which keeps on going and becomes the main reason of destroying families and spreading hatred.

Well, the most prominent thing about this novel for me had been the character development of all the characters. I believe in a writing which is relatable and that will actually hit the chords of your heart and shake your mind to contemplate and question about your deeds and that only happens if the characters are shown more human than angelic or evil. Apart from Hashim and Javahirat all the other character’s life is somehow inspirational and urges us to ponder our lifes.

The journey of Saadi, has been inspirational where a boy who was full of self- confidence was shattered and humiliated by the guilt of killing someone in self-defense was a clever way to show his dark side as well and to make the viewers understand that every person will face something in their lives which would change him forever whether it be for the better or worse depends on our way of dealing with the trauma.

I am damn sure, the character of Haneen has been an eye-opener for many girls. A girl falling for someone and then raising herself back was such an amazing way for putting forth the lesson that ‘’ you are your own hero’’. Thankyou so much Haneen for that!

Zumar, my love for this character is so much that I don’t know if I will ever come across a lady with such personality in other novels except Aks. This lady has gown through so much but damn look at her way of coming back and fight for the family…. We will always miss Zumar.

Faris Ghazi this dou number insan was the hero in disguise from the very beginning and we were thinking Zumar will be the one to hit the nail in the coffin but it was none other than Faris Ghazi with his heroic actions and humble heart that surely made him the hero.

Red Lady- I honestly felt for her, I know she has been evil to gain her love ,she troubled the life of Zumar and Faris but at the end she tried to save her and got killed and yes Thank God she got killed after confessing all and choosing the right path why I said Thank God for her being killed is because Suicide would have led her to other complications and atleast here we can pray for her.

Let’s assemble all the evils together Lol, Hahsim Kardaar nahi sudharne waala, I was one of those wishful thinkers who optimistically wished for a change of heart in Hashim but Alas, we had to face this. We had to read all this because there are people who never change and Hashims’s end will be written by Sonia’s life for that we have to wait for Naml part 2. It was such a relief to see all the plastic beauty draining out while the Sulphuric acid was dripping from her face… you deserved it Javahirat! I am unapologetically being inhumane here Lol.

All the side characters had their significance and they played their role beautifully. I cannot thank Nemrah Ahmed enough for this masterpiece although I didn’t like the ending but we cannot always have a conventional end though.

A little Award Ceremony here and I want you guys to share yours as well and Let’s see who gets the best suitable title complementing its personality.

Saadi – Mr. Over Confident

Faris- Dau Number insan

Zumar- Nakchari Queen

Haneen- Main apni hero khud hun

Hashim Kardaar- Main Sambhaal lunga

Javahirat- Miss Plastic plus Fake Beauty.

Nausheravn- Mr. Drug Addict.

Dr.Sarah- Main Darpoak hun.

This is it from me add more from yours and share your views about the Last Episode of NAML and yes yes yes waiting anxiously for the new Novel ” Haalim” starting this May!

Can’t wait to discuss it with you guys!

P.S Sorry for being late and late doesn’t mean it would never happen

Asma

April Fool’s day has become a really big deal all over the world. From you family to your friends, celebrities to online publications, everyone tries their hand at it on April 1st.

A well known publication reported on April 1 as a prank that the new Islamabad Airport would be named after China’s President name ‘Xi Jinping’.

Many people fell for it who did not bother to read the whole article which mentioned in the end that it was a prank.

However, model Rabia Butt fell for it too and posted about it on her instagram when she found this news shocking.

Right after finding out it was a prank as another publication pointed it out, Rabia was not pleased either.

She posted a screenshot of the article which pointed her out as falling for the prank. She wrote:

“Wow I just thought that one can never joke about the county or may be I’m way too sensitive about my homeland.”

Hence, she slammed the publication by naming it on her instagram to her 78K followers.

Muqabil Episode 18 Review – Phenomenal Performances

This episode of Muqabil laid down the foundations for what is coming ahead. Although everything that the viewers were shown in this episode needed to be seen but it also had a lot of scenes which could have been chopped down. The pace of the drama has slowed down considerably but it is still unpredictable and has some phenomenal performances to its credit. Every episode has some new development which gives you a reason to tune into this drama the coming week. This play could have been a game changer if it maintained its fast pace and there weren’t a lot of filler scenes which are clearly meant to kill time. This episode however was not a filler episode overall because with this episode Pareesa learned a few things about her which she was not willing to accept before and the dynamics of Arman and Pareesa’s relationship also changed completely this week.

Half of this episode covered everyone’s mindset while they were desperately looking for Arman. In my opinion this could have been one of those episodes which keep you at the edge of your seat if the preview of the next episode did not reveal that Arman was in the hospital. The song covering Pareesa and Arman’s past scenes and the visit to Sara’s house did not serve any purpose at all. The only important aspect of Sara and Pareesa’s conversation was that for the first time the viewers watched Pareesa acknowledge the fact that she was in love with Arman. The biggest purpose that these recent developments served is that Pareesa has finally accepted her true feelings for Arman, she is not afraid to love him and she is not scared of admitting how much he means to her. Pareesa, Arman and Mahmood’s characters are the lifeline of this drama, no matter how meaningless an episode is as a whole, these three characters always add meaning to every episode and keep it from getting too dull.

Muqabil Episode 18 Review - Phenomenal Performances

My favorite scene in tonight’s episode was the one in which Arman looked at Pareesa and his father for the first time after his accident (suicide attempt?). It was brilliantly directed and Mohsin Abbas’ acting was beyond remarkable in this scene. It showed exactly how Arman felt at that moment but was unable to express his feelings in any way. Honestly speaking, I was expecting a lot more from this episode but it did not cover Pareesa and Arman’s scenes the way one would have hoped it would but on the contrary focused on showing the aftermath of Arman’s disappearance. I have always been a big fan of Asif Raza Mir but now I am completely sold. His expressions when he warned Pareesa that she should never share her secret with Arman were remarkable. He brings out all the shades of Mahmood’s personality effortlessly on screen. Shehnaz and Aftab’s scenes covered Aftab’s guilt and also a different side of Shehnaz’s personality. Saba Hameed is also an all time favorite and Saife Hassan is very convincing as Aftab. These people may run a big business but they have no clue how to handle their daughter, that is something they are still learning to do!

The preview of the next episode suggested that Arman will take his time coming into terms with the fact that his father was the one who violated the woman who is now his wife. So far Muqabil has picked up pace every time the viewers thought it had lost its momentum therefore I have high hopes that the next episode will deliver.
