Kankar Episode 09 – A Perfect Beginning

0

This latest installment like all the previous ones did not only focus on the lead pair but it covered all the different tracks in the story. With the exception of a couple of scenes that seemed like they were stretched unnecessarily, the rest of the scenes were very well shot. I must confess though that I would have liked it better if we got to see more of Sikandar and Kiran. Also, the fact that Kiran’s father wasn’t home when she came to visit and there wasn’t a single scene with the two of them in it was rather disappointing, maybe because I was expecting the father and daughter relationship to be given a  little more importance.

Kiran’s wedding has been like a fairytale come true till now. Sikandar has been an ideal husband and because of his strong personality Shaista does not have the courage to show how she feels about this marriage. Shaista focused her energies on winning her sister back; I must say that those two scenes were a lot longer than they should have been. Faiqa manages to find a good proposal for her daughter and Arzoo will be getting married soon although she is not very keen on getting married into the family that her mother has hand picked for her.

kankar1

Everyone’s reactions to Kiran and Sikandar’s marriage were shown very well. Adnan obviously could not muster up the courage to show up at the wedding. The whole scenario would have appeared more real if we would have been shown that Adnan’s disappearance was noticed more than it actually was. When Kiran comes to visit her mother, she does not meet her father or Adnan; two very important people in her life. It was much more important to show these two scenes rather than the long scenes between Shaista and Faiqa and even the one with Faiqa and Arzoo seemed too long.

kankar2

Rukhsar’s fiance Zubair finally made an appearance in today’s episode as well. I must say that he was much older than I was expecting him to be. It is ironic that Rukhsar cannot seem to understand Zubair’s situation since she is the one who forcefully put her brother in the exact same situation. Rukhsar’s conversation with Zubair was very well written. For once we actually heard a man’s perspective and how he must feel being in that situation. Zubair and Adnan’s positions are very similar and one can’t help but feel for them. Rukhsar has turned bitter due to the never ending wait but she also knows that she cannot break a five year old engagement and just move on with life.

kankar4kankar5

The scene in the balcony was very confusing because it was badly shot and poorly edited. One minute Kiran was standing alone and the other minute Sikandar appeared out of nowhere. The “tuk nahi memories bana raha hun” dialogue was very interesting though.

kankar3

The preview for the next episode showed that Kiran tries to mend ties with Arzoo but she does not reciprocate her feelings. Arzoo meets her fiancé and does not seem very interested in him. What I am looking forward to the most is Sikandar’s reaction to Kiran attending what appeared to be either her sister’s dholak or that of Arzoo. Will Sikandar and Kiran stay happily married? I guess we all have a fair idea that they will be some serious issues between the two. Right now everything is so perfect; one can’t imagine how that is going to happen.

Overall, tonight’s episode could have been more engaging if some of the scenes were shorter and there was a little more emphasis on Sikandar and Kiran. Please share your views about this latest installment.

Aunn Zara Episode 06 – Going Strong!

0

Ohkay so it goes without saying that I thoroughly enjoyed this episode of Aunn Zara too. For me the best thing about the whole drama is the growth in the story every time. Ever since it has started we have moved on so much & have for sure fallen in love with all the characters because we have been exposed to each one of them appropriately, plus one thing that I’ve noticed is the mood of every episode. Seems like they have decided a certain standard & the mood for each one of them on which, in particular they work.

This time the main focus was on Aunn Zara & how they are working on their relationship. Manzar has extended his help perfectly this time & the good thing is that Aunn has understood the intricacy of the situation. He has started to understand the importance Zara carries in his life & he is longing for a companionship too. All his life Aunn has seen so many female figures & he’s loaded with the motherly affections & attentions. Hence, he doesn’t want Zara to boss him over especially even if she is showing some love towards him. It was sweet when he admitted that he has started to like Zara a lot but he hates it obviously when she tries to act like some lady. He has accepted her like a girl she is with her tom-boyish traits & her carelessness & hence, he needs her to be like that in front of him. He might nag at how she treats him badly but eventually has fallen for all of that.

Zara on the other hand has started to feel butterflies at the thought of being with him as his wife but it still too egoistic & naive at the same time where she doesn’t want to repeat anything she does or says for him. She wants him to understand her subliminal feelings as well, which Aunn is at the moment incapable of because he has not had been in contact with any girl that way before. I absolutely adored the ‘mailay kapre’ thing because no matter who the girl is, any wife would smile to herself while doing anything small related to her husband. That’s the beauty of this relationship & they portrayed it perfectly & realistically.

I am sure no one could’ve been happier as I was when I heard Jamshed’s friend uttering the I word (Ishq). I like so many others sussed it way before that Jamshed & Nighat have the ability to be together (being the complete opposites like Aunn Zara) & therefore, Jamshed revealed being worried about Zara because of Nighat. I think the best option for him & for the well-being of his daughter would be to take Nighat to his home by marrying her, so then Zara would be in peace. Haha! I must say Adnan Jaffar has acted so so sooo well as Jamshed, he seems so uncomfortable at the sight of Nighat but still is hesitant in letting his feelings surface. What a decent man he is.

Manzar’s ‘garaj nahi, baras ja’ & Aunn’s ‘Ammi mai barasna chahta hoon’ was way too funny. I’m glad that the guy who seemed handicapped intelligently is giving out amazing pointers to his poor friend in need. Therefore, Aunn actually found himself putting up what he wants in front of his family with ease. Whereas, Zara who puts everyone ahead of Aunn can not understand the privacy Aunn wanted for them both. She tagged along everyone with her because she is far more considerate towards her in-laws than Aunn actually is. I liked how she grasped Aunn’s inconsideration towards his family & tried to cover his bad mood. I like Zara’s character for this because where she has a child-like innocence still she is capable of tackling situations with ease & maturity at the same time too. It clearly showed that she couldn’t relate to Aunn being sad at the attention his family members extend towards him because she has longed for that all her life. That’s why she is walking an extra mile for her in-laws because she wants the love & care too.

There were few really funny moments especially the one where Zara tagged her Daada with Aunn’s Daadi. Nighat’s self-assumed cafe date at the signal. ‘Chai ya Paani’ debate & the car scene where Husna can rely on a girl as a driver but is too scared of seeing her son take a driver’s seat. I loved the episode for sure & I am enjoying how Aunn & Zara are taking steps in order to get close to each other. Zara’s still oblivious but has her feelings growing deep inside. Can’t wait to see their good patch together.

Please share what you feel & bring it on once again please!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Rare Friendship Seen Amongst Celebrities!

0

We rarely see friendship between celebrities nowadays because of the tough competition and jealousy factor. Usually celebs greet each other formally at various events and show professionalism by keeping their differences at bay. However, in such an environment there are still some celebrities who have turned out be genuine friends.

Here is a list of the celebrities who can be considered as good friends in the Industry:

photo(58)

Faisal Qureshi and Aijaz Aslam:

These two tops my list because their friendship is pretty well known and has been going on for many years now. They have done various shows together such as Main Aur Tum, Kis Din Mera Vyah Hoga series, Yariyan, Meri Unsuni Kahani and many more. Their chemistry on screen is brilliant because they are very good friends off screen. They both have also launched a clothing line together a few years back and both were seen together recently modeling for their Eid Collection 2013.

photo(76)

Ayesha Khan and Humayun Saeed:

We have been seeing Ayesha Khan and Humayun Saeed together on screen for more than a decade now and they surely sizzle on screen together. Their first serial together ‘Mehendi’ was a full blown hit and after that they appeared in one hit show after the other like Ijazat, Tum Ho Ke Chup, Kaafir and the list goes on. Both of them are good friends off screen too and prefer working with each other. Since the past few years, Ayesha Khan has been seen in a lot of shows produced by Humayun Saeed and in most shows Ayesha happens to be his first choice for the female lead.

Unfortunately, they have also been linked together a lot of times in the past few years and last year, there were even rumors of their ‘secret’ marriage. Well, their friendship did get a bit sour after that but I am sure with time their friendship will be back on track and we will see them in a show together. Humayun Saeed has stated in many interviews that he is planning to make a sequel of Ijazat and Ayesha will be his first choice for the lead.

photo(75)

Mahira Khan and Sarmat Khoosat:

Mahira and Sarmad became fast friends on the sets of Humsafar and their friendship strengthened more on the sets of ‘Shehr-e-Zaat’. Mahira considers Sarmat to be one of her closest friends in the Industry and Sarmad has the same view about her. They are often seen together with a group of friends which includes Nirmra Bucha and the famous director Mehreen Jabbar. Mahira once stated in an interview that it is a must for them four to meet when Mehreen Jabbar comes to visit Pakistan from the US. I must say, I have rarely seen such a bonding amongst stars!

photo(73)

Ayeza Khan, Arij Fatima and Maya Ali:

Ayeza khan has been in the Industry for a few years now but Maya Ali (who made her debut from Aik Nayee Cinderella) and Arij Fatima (Currently seen in Humansheen) have just entered the industry and it seems like these three have bonded pretty well. They were seen hanging out in different places together and seemed to be enjoying themselves. I hope their friendship blossoms and we also get to see them doing a show together soon.

photo(72)

Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali:

Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali both made their debut on Television together from the show ‘Aik Nayee Cinderella’ and they are also currently seen in the show Aunn Zara. Their chemistry in both shows was absolutely amazing and the main reason why they seem so comfortable on screen is because they also happen to be buddies off screen. It is very common to have link up rumors when you are friends with the opposite gender and the same was the case with these two. They were rumored to be dating and their pictures from their upcoming show were considered to be their wedding pictures! Osman Khalid Butt quickly rubbished the news on his official facebook page and clarified about the pictures. This news; however, did not affect their friendship at all and they both were seen laughing it off in an interview.

photo(71)

Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani:

Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani were first seen together in the tele film ‘Dil Mera Dhadkan Teri’ opposite Ahsan Khan. They bonded well on the sets of this movie and became really good friends during their stage show ‘Dhaani’ which became a huge hit. When Sanam Saeed was asked about her favorite co star in an interview, she quickly named Sarwat Gillani as she was very easy going and fun to work with. Their superb chemistry was apparent during their play which was liked and appreciated by everyone. I hope we get to see them together on screen once again.

photo(74)

Fawad Khan and Ahmed Ali Butt:

Fawad Khan and Ahmed Ali Butt have been friends even before they formed their band Entity Paradigm and have been close friends ever since. Fawad and Ahmed might be polar opposites of each other in terms of personality as Fawad happens to be reserved while Ahmed is more outgoing, but this never stopped them from becoming best friends. Even now when their band has disbanded, they are seen together on various occasions and have remained in contact.

So yes, celebrities can also be good friends. Feel free to add to the list!

Aamir Liaquat’s Insulting Behaviour Towards His Guest

0

Did you ever think that an “Islamic Scholar” hosting a Ramazan special show would invite a singer to his set and ask him to sing for rest of the audience including more Islamic scholars? Apart from that as you can see in the video Aamir Liaquat humiliated his guest to the limit. The way he is getting physical with him and mocking him with his words is definitely not part of any Islamic teaching. Would anyone believe that this host is an Islamic scholar and not some comedian who is there to make people laugh? What happened to the Islamic tradition of giving respect to others, no matter who they are? And is singing and mocking allowed in Islam? Even ordinary people like me who are not Islamic intellectuals know that none of what we see in the video is in line with our basic Islamic teachings. This is very sad indeed.

http://youtu.be/l8Pm65Snj_0

Geo has totally lost it when it comes to coming first in the race of TRPs, they are doing everything in their power to grab the attention of the audience from inviting “controversial” people to having wild animals on their stage. This is highly ridiculous. The show looks more like Neelam Ghur than a Ramazan show. There is no decency in the manner in which the show is being hosted. We should all stop and think where we are going as a society. Why do we put up with all this in the name of religion? It is about time that we raised our voices against the way our religion is being wrongly portrayed. Do you think Aamir Liaquat’s behavior is decent? Do you think he should have insulted his guest like this? What was the purpose behind calling a singer to a Ramazan show?

Mathira’s Vulgarity At Its Peak

0

This particular video which is part of the live Morning Show is by far the sickest thing that any of us has watched on television this Ramazan. First of all there was no reason at all to invite a person like Mathira to a Ramazan special Morning Show and if she was invited the host could have made sure that no controversial topics were discussed in the show in order to show respect to this month. Not only this, a Morning Show is a family show or a show which usually women watch. No one wants to see Mathira discussing her condom advertisement and all the other cheap stuff on the show.

As if Mathira’s vulgar acts and the vulgar topic of discussion were not repulsive enough, Maani added in a very crude way, “Aap ne Mathira ko bula ke lakhon caroron Muslamanon ke eman ka test liya hai”. Not only this, he also said “Roza nahi rakhta kyunke rozay ka taaluq eman se hai aur mera eman buhat mazboot hai”. So, basically these people were seen openly making fun of Ramazan in a Ramazan show. Not only this, we see Mathira giving women tips on how to seduce their husbands on a family channel and a family show and most importantly on a Ramazan special show in which the women have their heads covered but they show just how dirty minded they are. Wearing a duppata on your head does not mean that you have respect for the Holy month; one must show it by their actions. Maani’s vulgarity was at its peak in the show, I wonder how his wife or any of the family members can bear to see him on screen like this when a decent viewer finds it hard to digest all that they discussed.

It is a shame that our channels promote such disgusting things during the month of Ramazan. It is our duty to condemn such acts so that the people who are running these channels know that such cheap tactics will not get them TRPs but will drive their viewers away. Shame on the Morning Shows organizers who allowed all this to happen, not only this but they clearly facilitated it. For God’s sake stop making fun of religion, if you people cannot do anything to promote good during this Holy month then do not promote vulgarity too. Shame on you Ary, shame on you Nida Yasir, shame on you Maani, shame on you Mathira and most of all shame on all the people who sat there and laughed at those filthy jokes.

Yeh Shaadi Nahi Hosakhti Episode 3 & 4 – The Persuasion!

The pace of this show is just right as it is neither very fast paced nor slow paced. The acting of a few people of the cast are not up to the mark as they even tend to overact at times but some are so perfect with their spot on comic timing that one can overlook the flaws of the rest of the cast. My personal favorites are Chacha (Waseem Abbas), Soni (Kaif Ghaznavi), Chammi Tai (Humaira Ali), Zahid (Saif-e-Hassan), Humza (Ahmed Hassan) and Dada Jaan (Qazi Wajid). They all have done a wonderful job!

photo(54)

There were a lot of developments in the show this week. It started off with Sikander bringing actors to pose as his fake in laws and his plan almost failed because of the overacting done by the ‘Anokha Bhatt’. But in the end, things finally worked out when Anokha Bhatt insulted Sikander by calling him a ‘non-Bhatt’ and he pretended to be offended and emotionally blackmailed the family members that he would not marry within their family. Before their plan could fully work, the truth got out about the fake in laws and this time Sikander clearly told his family members that he will only marry Alishba and surprisingly, Badi Ammi agreed. But unfortunately this was not the end of his problems! He now had to convince his Taya and Tai and this took another session of emotional blackmailing. The overacting done by Mohib was very annoying at times because it took away the charm from the scene; he definitely needs to brush up on his comic timing.

photo(55)

Once Sikander’s family had agreed to take his proposal for Alishba, the next hurdle was to talk to Alishba’s Dadi Jaan. This task was given to Zahid (Alishba’s father) who just could not gather enough courage to talk to his mother and as soon as he mentioned about Alishba’s proposal to her, Dadi Jaan announced that she had already set Alishba’s rishta with Ahmed Nafees, Alishba’s phupho’s son. Very surprisingly, the very coward Dada Jaan stood up at this point and showed his support for Alishba. The cute conversation between Alishba and her Dada Jaan was extremely adorable!

photo(56)

Like Sikander, Alishba also have some unique characters in her house. A father who is dead scared of his mother (Saif-e-Hassan is a very good actor), Dada Jaan who has come serious hearing issues (I love all his scenes as they are absolutely hilarious!) and Dadi Jaan who likes to order around and expects everyone to obey them without questioning. Alishba and Salma (Alishba’s mother) are the only two normal people in the family. Amber’s acting gets unbearable at times because of her weak dialogue delivery and expressions but overall I love her character as the supporting mother.

Salman Saeed finally made his entry this week. He plays the role of Ahmed Nafees (Alishba’s phupho’s son) whom her Dadi has chosen for her. Salman Saeed plays the character of the typical Sindhi Wadera with more or less no education and trunks full of money. The scene where he offers to take Alishba in his newest ‘Prado’ showed how much he liked to show off! How typical! He is another addition to the unique characters in Alishba’s family. It is too early to judge Salman Saeed as an actor because he barely had one scene this week. But it does look like he really needs to work on his expressions. I am definitely looking forward to see how his character shapes up.

photo

There are also a few other characters that I would like to mention. I just love the chemistry between Haniyah and Hamza, their constant bickering is fun to watch and I am already a huge fan of the actor playing the character of Hamza; he has the most perfect comic timing. Chammi Tai’s brother Channi Mammu (I laughed for a good 2 minutes at his name) who came to convince her to agree on Alishba and Sikander’s marriage is another interesting character. Soni did not have many scenes but I liked the one scene she had with Sikander because her shayari is truly amusing.

photo(53)

Now Alishba’s family has the huge task of talking to their phupho about ending Alishba’s rishta with Ahmed Nafees. Dadi Jaan refused to talk to her daughter and as usual Alishba’s father is too scared to talk to his sister. We will see the entry of Saba Hameed in the next episode playing the role of Alishba’s phupho.

I am definitely looking forward to next week’s episode. A lot of interesting things are coming up ahead so do not miss the show.

Do share your views about this week’s episodes!

Till Next Week

Pakistan’s first Zombie Movie ‘Walking Dead’ to Release Soon!

0

Not being the first one in any trend going viral in any field, Pakistan will now be adopting the foreign trend of introducing zombie movies within the country. As per news received, ‘Walking Dead’ will be the first Pakistani zombie movie which will be entertaining the viewers with its said thriller. There have been some worth appreciating horror movies which were nicely done in a low budget including Siyaah, Zinda Laash, etc.

579596-Zomcom-1374333619-287-640x480-300x225

The movies is been directed by Usman Mukhtar and has been filmed in Dubai. As a result of collaboration in between Usman Mukhtar and Muse Dubai, the movie also has some Dubai faces who will be seen doing leading roles such as like Nidhi Jha, Nadia Williams and Nitin Mirani. The screenplay has been written by Shahana Khan and so far, the project has been quite satisfactory for Roha Daud, co-founder of Muse Dubai. He said:

“A zomcom in particular, hasn’t been shot on this scale locally, making it a great collaboration between South Asia and the Middle East, based on talent. Although the film industry in UAE is steadily growing, I haven’t heard of any [movies] being made in this genre”.

14539468928e429f2da74154ccea470c_Generic

It was recently seen that zombies had been a hot topic for both Bollywood and Hollywood movies that also did an average business. While India’s ‘Go Goa Gone’, starring Saif Ali Khan had been a disappointment for his followers, Brad pit’s  World War Z is still running on box office and doing a significant business.

Now that Pakistan is too planning to coup up with the race, ‘Walking Dead’ is considered to be an important move in Pakistan’s film industry.

The movie will be releasing in two months so hold on your breaths to find what will be coming out your way under the said banner.

Kadurat Episode 02 – Meena The Troublemaker!

0

Today’s episode like the last one focused on Meena’s childhood and it was actually good to see more of Meena as a child because that gave the viewers an opportunity to understand her personality better. Has anyone heard of the Sadistic Personality Disorder? If you haven’t I suggest you look it up and you will understand why I have brought it up in this review. I think Meena is a classic case of that disorder; she derives pleasure out of causing pain to others and she does it impulsively. Whenever things get out of control for Meena, mostly emotionally, she resorts to such measures in order to feel like she is still in control. That is what I derived from everything that I saw Meena doing in today’s episode.

k1

Meena’s father finally makes up his mind about sending her to the hostel. Mahmood’s decision to send Meena to the hostel without trying further to address her issues did remind me of Deepak Perwani’s character in Mere Pass Pass. Before dropping her off, her father does give her a choice, if she could get along with her new family she wouldn’t have to go to the hostel. That was such a meaningful scene which said so much about Meena’s personality. Meena does not mingle with other kids, she did make a “friend” right in the beginning of her hostel life but we never saw the two friends talking to one another but it seemed more like Shaista envied Meena maybe because she didn’t come from a very affluent household. Everything that Meena did with her roommate today went to show that it wasn’t just her step siblings who were victims of her “adventures” but she would gladly put anyone in that position. The whole purpose is to inflict pain on someone; it could be anyone at all!!

k4

Mahmood’s second wife gradually takes over his business and the two get on really well with each other with Meena out of the way. I did get the feeling that Mahmood’s decision to send Meena to the hostel was somewhat selfish. He is obviously hoping that she will grow up and learn to deal with and accept things by the time she comes back home but I guess we all know too well that non of that is going to happen. If Meena gets closer to Shaheen (her new friend), I think they may turn out to be a lethal combination. I must add here that I find Meena’s character very intriguing indeed. It has been very well etched out and the child star playing the character is doing an impeccable job.

k2

Today’s episode was a treat to watch especially because of the brilliant acting by the child star playing Meena in particular and because of the way it was directed. The background score added a more dramatic effect to all the scenes. All the scenes had been very intelligently put together. Until now I am quite impressed with Zoha Hassan’s script as well especially because of the way she has penned down Meena’s character.

k3

The preview of the next episode showed that Meena has not changed at all even after all these years. How will Meena’s step family and father deal with Meena now that she is not a kid anymore? I have very high hopes from Sanam Saeed, therefore I am surely waiting for her to make her presence felt in the upcoming episode. The best thing about tonight’s episode was that it established the fact that Kadurat is going to be very different from Zard Mausam because Meena is no Aimen, her character is very different. Aimen was a very weak, insecure but spoiled nevertheless. Meena is a much more strong person and a lot more negative as well.  Did you watch the latest episode of Kadurat? Please share your views about the episode in general and Meena’s character in particular.

Jinns drive Sahir Lodhi Crazy- Watch Video!

0

Do you believe on the existence of unseen bodies with supernatural powers? If you do not, then Pakistani morning shows can be a good source to make you believe that there actually are. It was only a few days back that Sahir Lodhi conducted an entire show on the theme and adding much to that, he even shared his own experience where he encountered the presence of him (an unseen power).

Sahir Lodhi explained his experience in front of a scholarly panel and said that he and his assistant Raja. Who takes care of him, has experienced some unnatural moves in their lives. The first time it went into notice was when Sahir asked his assistant to make his LCD go on AV mode and when he was about to sleep, the mode changed to its normal telecast, though he didn’t had its remote.

He also mentioned that when he went to washroom, the lights got off themselves and the moment he came out, they glowed again. The same happened again and again.

As his third major experience, it was Raja again who was a joint witness of this. It was when he parked his automatic car in parking making Raja sit in car while he went out of it for something. On his return Raja, horrified with what has happened, told him that the car mode changed itself from Parking and the car started to move it.

As been written in the Holy Book of Quran, Jinns do exist and there are thousands of people who feel them, see them and even talk to them. However, believing on your real Lord for help and safety is all what you need to do to fight against their harmful deeds because just like every other being on earth, their Creator is none other than Allah.

So, do you think that unseen forces are following Sahir Lodhi everywhere? Do you have ever witnessed anything similar? Feel free to share your experiences.

God Bless You,

Indian Movie Arth to be remade as joint Indo-Pak Venture!

0

India and Pakistan, both are the two countries that keep sharing something in common, if not traditionally, then for the moves taken in the entertainment industry in both of neighboring territories. It is now the remake of old movie Arth which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt back in 1982, that has open new hopes for the slogan of ‘Aman ki Asha’ where it is Pakistani actor/director Shaan who has asked Mahesh Bhatt for the rights to remake the movie in Pakistan.

Untitled

Offering a leverage to the Indian owners of the movie, he asked Mahesh Bhatt to  withhold his credits and allow the remake under the tag of a joint Indo-Pak effort. It was lately in an Indian newspaper that Bhatt confirmed the news by mentioning the call he received from Shaan to seek permission to adapt the film. Giving a welcoming response, Mahesh then asked the film producer, Kuljit Pal regarding the issue.

In response to his appeal been made, Kuljit Pal said:

“Mr Mahesh Bhatt had sent a letter some time back to me through some office bearer. But I did not receive it, on the contrary I asked him to tell Mukesh Bhatt to call me up,I shall discuss with him. Well In my telephonic conversation with Producer Mukesh Bhatt I clearly stated I can not give the remake right to any other country. On his insistence I did tell him if at all Pakistani producer intends to remake my film Arth, he should make it in Urdu language only. I further also confirmed that if at all the film is remade in any Indian language I will be looking forward for financial gains. However, The Bhatts’ are big people,I was shocked to read in the newspapers stating that I have consented for giving away the remake rights of my film Arth. This I feel is just the high headedness of the Bhatts.”

It is now Shagufta Rafique who will be writing its script and will be playing an important role in cast selection which will comprise of Pakistani actresses only, She said:

“As the film is going to be based in Pakistan, we will cast Pakistani girls. Apart from writing, I will also be involved in the casting of the film.”

Arth is one of the most popular legendary Bollywood movie that even won four major awards in in Filmfare awards ceremony in 1984 and it is highly hoped that the movie will again spread its colors on screen with its remake. It would not be wrong to give the  credit of the project to Mahesh Bhatt who has always shown signs of goodwill towards Pakistani celebrities who belong to his own domain of expertise.

We wish Shaan and the Bhatts all the very best for this joint venture,

Dil-e-Muzter Episode 21 – Affan’s Secret Out!

0

We got to see another engaging episode this week as there were a lot of twist and turns that left us all in shock. The first shock was when Zoya went to Silah’s office and created a scene there. When I saw this scene in the preview last week, I had a fair idea of what she would say to Silah. What I did not expect to see was Silah’s self control, she did not raise her voice or even blink at Zoya’s accusations; she just answered Zoya in an even tone when Zoya told her to leave Adeel alone. It was after Zoya left that we saw actually how angry Silah really was. I loved her even more for not arguing with someone like Zoya because she is just not worth it and I am glad she realized this too. Zoya also got the desired response from his all drama as Silah finally fired Adeel from his job.

photo(203)    The second shock was Adeel’s misunderstanding about Affan being Ahmer’s son. I agree Adeel does not know about Affan being his son and he would never have guessed it either but his jealousy and accusations on Silah were unjustified. He went to Silah’s house and accused her of having a relationship with Ahmer and that too on her face! I wish Silah had slapped him right there and then. Silah then finally cleared the air and told him that Affan is his own son and her most prized possession. Sanam Jung and Imran Abbas both were absolutely brilliant in this scene. You could just feel the raw emotions just around the surface. Adeel’s expressions after hearing this news were mind-blowing; first he resorted to pleading with Silah to let him meet his son and then he started threatening her that he will take his son from her.

photo(204)

The third shock- more like surprise – was Silah’s obvious reluctance to sign the divorce papers. It was evident that she did not want to sign the papers as she was not ready yet but Safeena kept on pressurizing her and Silah tried to avoid her as long as possible. Silah even told her to let things stay this way but Safeena wants Silah to make a decision once and for all. The irony in this whole situation was that Affan ruined the divorce papers and while Safeena was angry at this, Silah looked relieved and a little happy about it. To me, it looked like some kind of a sign. Another surprising thing was when she scolded Affan on his messiness by saying ‘Bilkul Apne Baap Per Gaya Hai’. She then got stunned for a second when she realized what she had said!

photo(202)

Even after the papers got ruined, Safeena did not give up and told Ahmer to get the divorce papers made because their lawyer was away. Silah could not help but say that the divorce can wait but this led to another lecture by Safeena on ‘Kiya abhi bhi tumhe umeed hai Adeel se’ and this time Silah finally agreed on signing the papers and it looks like she is going to sign them.

Zoya was happy that her plan had succeeded and now Silah would be out of their lives. But she was totally wrong; Silah was never out of the picture and after Adeel got to know about his son he got pretty restless and remembered Silah even more now. Adeel will do anything to get his son and according to the preview, he will go to the court and even end up pleading Silah on the middle of the road.  Affan can be the only reason for both of them to get back together at this stage.

Even Zoya’s mother is telling her to come out of her fantasy now. Its time she accepts that Adeel never loved her and she was lying to herself all this time. She thinks all her problems will be solved if she has a kid but this is yet another lie that she has been telling to herself and even her mother pointed this out. Will Zoya ever realize that she has no place in Adeel’s life?

There are only 2 episodes left now and let’s see how the ending will be. I am still confused about Silah’s decision because a part of her still does not want to divorce Adeel and she is doing this mostly under pressure and surprisingly, Baba is the only person who realizes this.

I am totally hooked to this show and I simply cannot wait for next week now!

Indian Movie “D-Day” banned to release in Pakistan by Pakistani censor board

These days it is very common for Indian movies to be banned to release in Pakistan because of their sensitive subject. When we see movies like Ranjhaana, Shootout at Wadala, Ek tha Tiger, and David etc. banned to release in Pakistan by Pakistani censor board, another movie named “D-Day” is also banned to release in Pakistan by Pakistani censor board.

The movie has a powerful cast that includes Rishi Kapoor, Irfan Khan, Arjun Rampal, Huma Qureshi, and Shruti Hassan. The movie has managed to generate a lot of interest in India. The movie has been banned to release in Pakistan because of its synopsis. Like all the previous Indian movies that have been banned to release in Pakistan, this movie also has a sensitive subject that may cause conflicts in Pakistan.

d day 2

It is good to see Pakistani censor board banning contents that they know will hurt Pakistanis and cause conflicts. We appreciate them for banning the content that will hurt Pakistanis and cause conflicts.

What are your views on the ban on release of Indian movies in Pakistan that have a sensitive subject? Your feedback is appreciated!

Geo News insulted by a caller Live in Amir Liaquat’s Show

0

The channel which had been lately in the news for supporting the airing of foreign content has once again received another blow to its popularity among the viewers.    It has been noticed that Geo Network seems to follow its own strategy of making money without keeping in view the customs and traditions of the country it actually represents.

The foreign influence on the channel has finally forced the citizens of Pakistan to speak openly over the issue and it was only today in the live transmission of Ramadan that a caller criticized the channel for giving importance to the Indian celebrities who actually do not even exist for half of the people in Pakistan.

Calling in Amir Liaquat Hussain’s show, he said that charity begins at home and when it comes to protecting Islam and its teaching, there is no point of showing which Bollywood actress has celebrated her birthday and which Bollywood movie will now be releasing. The caller was basically pointing towards the news which was recently shared by Geo News about Katrina Kaif’s celebration of her birthday. The news was a part of a headline “Hindi Nahi ati par Hindustan par raaj kerti hoon”.

Trying his best to ignore the question been raised on their own policies, Amir Liaquat played it safe and did not cover much of its details. Audience, however, seems delighted with the point been raised by a caller and as a matter of fact, it is really important now  that we, as a nation should start questioning the authorities about their diplomacies which are been imposed under the title of ‘Entertainment’.

Two big Bollywood ventures banned in Pakistan this Eid-Cinemas to suffer!

0

This Eid really holds a lot of significance for the local producers and movie makers as 4 high-budget Pakistani movies will be making their way to cinemas. We have been sharing all about the upcoming ventures of Pakistan which include the release of movie ‘Josh’, ‘Main Shahid Afridi hoon’, ‘Ishq Khuda’ and ‘Waar’ but what is new is the fact that due to these four local movies, Pakistani Cinemas will not be showing Bollywood’s two major movies, specifically Chennai Express and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai again.

Untitled

Both of the said movies are considered as important movies for the box office and planning a complete blackout towards them will be causing Pakistani cinemas a loss of more than Rs.  20 Crore. Although the Box office is unhappy with the decision knowing about the loss, the distributors are anxious to give the local movies a clean platform.

One of the leading Distributer, Abdul Rashid said:

“Yes, we are not releasing Chennai Express and Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai – 2 in Pakistan. Our government wants to protect the interests of the Pakistan film fraternity. We don’t mind rescheduling the two films to August 15. But piracy would have reduced the business prospects of the two films by then. We cannot overrule our government’s decision.”

While it seems like a good move for majority of the Pakistanis who are loving the fact that officials are taking steps to conserve the local culture by promoting homemade products, it is important to mention that although the stated movies will not be releasing in Cinemas, people can still watch them online as majority of the people normally do. Even ‘Ek tha Tiger’ too was banned in Pakistan last year for a pretty similar issue; the movie enjoyed a decent number of fans within Pakistan too.

It is, therefore, a high time that the law making bodies should come up with new strategies to offer a better framework as a reason of what and why a film is banned or shown in the country.

Drama Serial Justuju to replace Silvatein on ARY

0

It was only on this Thursday that dram serial Silvatein has reached its end with a happy ending, bringing the two sisters closer to one another and giving Natasha a lesson of life. Now that the slot has to be filled with a new drama, it is Misbah Khalid’s Justuju that will be going on-air on every Thursday 8PM on ARY Digital from July 25th, 2013.

The drama is written by Naushaba Brohi and highlights the bitter reality of the society where a woman who is unable to give birth to a child is considered to be an ‘extra’ being and is out casted. It is interesting to see that ARY is giving a tough competition to its rival Hum TV, where both of these channels are focusing on real life issues so that the viewers can relate with them.

Justuju is a high-budget venture where we see a rich cast including Maria Wasti, Shamoon Abbasi, Zhalay Sarhadi, Hassan Ahmed and other popular celebrities. The drama is a story of two couples where Sabiha and Tahir are leading an ideal life but the loss of their son changes everything in between them. Just like any other couple, Tahir turns into rigid and frustrated person, who is not willing to contribute anymore to make his relation work and Sabiha, too gets into depression after the death of their son.

On the other hand, Hashim and Aliya’s marital life is too suffering because Hashim is an unloving husband who is not willing to have children, while his wife has a serious urge to be a mother.

All in all, the drama holds a new story where we will see celebrities doing something new on-screen. Shamoon Abbasi seems, however, typecasting himself where he is seen doing similar roles in all his ventures.

Let us see how this drama turns out to be,

Kankar Episode 8 – Lost In Love!

0

Today’s episode had a lot of meaningful conversations to its credit and the direction was superb like always. Kiran finally warmed up to the man she was forcefully engaged to; all it took was one meeting and a few conversations. I have to say that today Sikandar did come across as a very lovable person – he values Kiran and is not afraid of showing just how much she means to him. The episode started with Kiran showing her disinterest and dislike for her upcoming marriage but things changed enormously by the time the episode ended.

There were so many scenes in today’s episode that definitely moved me. The love that Irim and Kiran share has been portrayed so beautifully. Even after everything that happened Irim does not hold anything against her sister, she understands that it was not her fault and is genuinely happy for her.

Irimkiran

The second scene that was very nicely shot and acted out was the one in which Sikandar and Kiran have the conversation in the car when Sikandar’s mother goes inside the house. Sikandar’s confession was very sweet. The way he kept on looking at Kiran in the back view mirror despite of the fact that it was really annoying his mother was also very sweet! I find Sikandar’s character very interesting because his character has many layers; sometimes you don’t like him at all and sometimes you feel like he is flawless.

kankar

Kiran’s character is a very balanced one as well, she comes across as a very real person – not one of those holier than thou heroines who can do no wrong. Despite of all her claims that she would never marry Sikandar even if he was the last man on earth and despite of feeling that she is letting Arzoo down by getting married to Sikandar, she still can’t help but like him because he is likeable!

Another scene that was very well done was the conversation between Kiran and Adnan. The entire conversation was very meaningful. The way Adnan looked at Kiran and her complete ignorance of his feelings was done perfectly. There was nothing predictable or clichéd about that scene, it was very original indeed. Adnan looks at the bird Kiran knows she can trust him with and wonders why she couldn’t trust him with her heart as well! He would have loved to take care of Kiran all his life too and not just her pet – that was a very sad scene.

kankar

Kiran’s parents are happy for their daughter. When Kiran’s mother asks her who gave her the flowers her reply was hilarious “Sikandar ne ap ke liye bhaije hein’! Shaista warns her son not to “spoil” Kiran so much but he is so sure that she is completely worth it, infact he thinks that she is incapable of being spoiled. Sikandra’s love for Kiran and the confidence he has in her is very charming.

Adnan may have succumbed to her sister’s demands but he finds it hard to have a normal relationship with his sister now. Rukhsar fails to see what is it that she did wrong when she should clearly know what it was! Faiqa’s conversations with her husband are getting repetitive. It seems she has nothing better to talk about, Faiqa keeps on blaming Kamal for destroying her daughter’s life and keeps on going on and on about his brother. The truth is revealed soon enough but Faiqa continues to blame Kiran and her family.

kankar

The Sikandar and Kiran jodi definitely scored an ace with me today. The way Sikandar won Kiran over was very adorable. There is no ambiguity as to why Kiran changed her mind all of a sudden and the viewers were not left wondering. The acting, the camera shots and the script has been very impressive since the last episode. I have most certainly warmed up to the characters and am looking forward to more, what about you? Please feel free to share your views.

Aunn Zara Episode 05 – CUTE!

0

What a fulfilling episode hit our screens last night. It is just getting better & better as the episodes are progressing. The story seems to get more stronger & I am loving the fact that every single time they have something new to reveal. Everything about this drama is nothing less than just awesome.

Apart from the humor, revelations to both Aunn & Zara about their pre-wedding feelings for one-another was superbly done. Those conversations were written so well that just in a flow it was expressed which gave them a new dimension as well as to the feelings they have for one another. I loved that at that very moment they were touched & ecstatic by the idea but whenever they came across each other they just had zero tolerance level. It was really cute to see them bickering continuously because that’s how they are going to understand each other well. It’s actually really enjoyable to see them taking each other so lightly & innocently that they are actually not understanding the needs they have to fulfill of each other, because they are too busy in their own agendas & this definitely makes it better.

I actually find it commendable that during the course of the comedy, the drama doesn’t miss a chance to give you those moments where you can say ‘aweeeeeeeeeeee’. The drama sheds a light on those never-ending emotions one feels normally as well. Zara’s father, who looks so stiff is actually finding it hard to accept the fact that she has left his home for good. Aun, who dreads his FIL’s presence could actually yearn for his hug seeing the emotional moment. It was sweet but what made it better was Aunn’s childish expression & his self-uttered thought that his FIL would actually ‘koochi koo’ him. LOL! That scene had me laugh so hard.

Another thing I love about this drama is that all the characters get to share the screen time as well. Even though the main focus is on Aunn & Zara but all the characters are not left out. They all share their moments & never fail to leave an impact. I must say I sympathized with Nighat &  how sad her divorce story was. :( lol. Chachi’s imagination rolled really quick in regards to Zara’s health & her ice-cream havoc was way too funny. But the best one in this episode for me was ‘Lanat Joga’, ‘Manhoos Mara’ & obviously the ‘2 Kilo Doodh’. I just can’t imagine how do they make things appear so funny to us which we actually experience in our personal lives too. Trust me if you’re a true Urdu/Punjabi lover, you have used these words a hundred times too.

Seeing Manzar back was great. He did try to help Aunn once again as usual but this time his idea was a hit in stead of a miss. Aunn has actually started working on the new project Manzar has assigned to him & Zara on her own is working unknowingly in that direction too, whereas Manzar has set a new goal for himself & she is Zara’s friend. ;) Aunn wants to get away with all the attention & Zara, being the only girl in her family without a mother-figure just can’t tolerate how her husband gets pampered all the time. She is being innocently selfish but is for sure spreading lots of smiles there. Husna seems to enjoy the relation Aunn & Zara share because Zara has no stopping & she is ready to take things in her hands.

The cockroach thing was the funniest because I can relate to Aunn in that matter too. The moment a cockroach walks in, I am sure me & so many out there try to reach to the highest point in their rooms because it’s just so creepy. The ‘bewa cockroachni’ was something which I never thought of but from now on I sure am going to give it some consideration too before I become a cockroach ‘kaatil’ like Zara. Haha.

This episode seemed more calm & quiet because now that Aunn has returned everyone is at peace & they are done with Zaras’ father’s deal too. Daadi can see the ‘apple of her eye’ all day long & the added bonus for the whole family is proving to be Zara now. Nighat Pupho & Chachi are scheming something because they just can’t tolerate a few seconds of Aunn not being in the limelight. I am sure they are going to give Zara a tough time in getting smitten by her tactics. It for sure is such an experience which you just don’t want to enjoy alone. I always tag my family along & we watch it together because it’s just something I don’t want anyone to miss. I must say the star of today’s episode undoubtedly for me was Osman Khalid Butt as Aunn. I must admit he is really cute & has done a marvelous job in giving out those millions expressions each in micro-seconds. His eye popping, his gulp, his awe, his disgust, his anxiety, his frustration – every thing is just praise-worthy. WELL DONE OKB, YOU ROCK!

Applause once again to the whole team for giving us another brilliant episode. I must say I love the quick scenes hence the editor has his job well done & every time it ends I just feel it wasn’t enough. I just can’t wait for more. Bring it on ASAP please. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

The Flop Shows Of This Season

0

A show needs to have a few special ingredients to impress the viewers and make a place in their hearts. The first important ingredient is the cast; a good cast always creates interest in the viewers. The second most important thing is the story, followed by the direction. Hits and flops go hand in hand; where a few shows may become hits, the others might not be able to strike a cord with the audiences.

Here is a list of shows that can be considered as flop shows of this season because they lack the ingredients to impress the viewers:

kaala jadu 2

Kaala Jaadu 2:

If the first season was torture, the second season was worse. It is really hard to stomach the concept of these kinds of shows and this show has already been stretched to limit. The script written by Rukhsana Nigar may not be so strong but she has written Wasim Abbas’s character very well, as it is very close to reality. The show may not be worth watching but Waseem Abbas’s flawless acting definitely is. Waseem Abbas different role shows his versatility and it is the only plus point in this show.

dmkh

Dil Mohalay Ki Haveli:

I have never been able to understand the concept of this show. Samina Ahmed plays the role of a woman who is obsessed with culture and tradition especially when it comes to food. The writer Amna Mufti tried to come up with a new concept but her attempt failed to impress the audiences. The only highlight of this show is Sami Khan, who has finally showed some versatility as he is no longer playing the character of a ‘guy who never gets the girl’. I was personally fed up of seeing him in the same kind of roles in every show but his unique character in this show is refreshing to watch.

meri dulari

Meri Dulari:

The reason why Meri Dulari is a flop is because of its script which has nothing new to offer and its direction which could have been way better. This show is Yumna Zaidi’s best work so far as she has managed to done justice to her role. I have always found her a very weak actor who needed to brush up on her acting skills and slowly and gradually, she is improving. Sana Askari and Sami Khan’s same monotonous roles have nothing new to offer to the audiences. Saba Hameed has performed exceptionally in her role as the strict mother in law. The show, however, failed to connect with the audiences because of many essential ingredients missing.

jiya na jaye

Jiya Na Jaye:

The cast of this show has performed exceptionally and the script and direction both are also satisfactory. The reason why it failed to click with the audiences is because there is still an ingredient which is missing in the show. There was just no ‘wow’ factor in it which would woo the audiences. Imran Aslam has done full justice to his negative character, Fatima Effendi just keeps on getting better and Adeel Hussain’s acting was also up to the mark. In the beginning, the story had its charm but now it is just dragging and it is about time they end this show.

shab e

Shab-e-Aarzoo Ka Aalam:

This is another show which failed to make a place in the audiences’ heart. The story revolves around a couple madly in love who are driven apart by circumstances. Mohib Mirza and Armeena Rana Khan have superb chemistry and both have outdone themselves but the cast is not enough to make a show hit. The pace of this show is very slow and the story is not so impressive either.

dehleez

Dehleez:

Dehleez and Parchaiyaan started almost together and where Parchaiyaan became a huge hit, Dehleez was not able to gather enough audiences. Rubina Ashraf has performed brilliantly in both the shows and proved how versatile she can be. Dehleez was not half bad in the beginning but now after 83 episodes, I really think the time has come for this show to end!

meenu ka sasural

Meenu Ka Susral:

Frankly, I have never seen more than a scene or two of this show and that too while changing channels. The show never managed to capture my interest. The cast is not impressive and the story has nothing that we haven’t seen before in other shows.

Share your opinion about these shows and feel free to add to the list!

Yeh Shaadi Nahi Hosakhti Episode 1 & 2 – A Hilarious Sitcom

Amidst all the shows based on social issues that are on air right now, Yeh Shaadi Nahi Hosakhti is a breath of fresh for me. There have been many attempts to make sitcoms but they usually turn out be full of vulgar and cheap content which one cannot watch with their families. I have been looking forward to review a sitcom for quite some time now and this show instantly attracted me; firstly because of its writer Vasay Chaudhry and secondly because of its decent storyline and content.

The story of this show revolves around two characters: Alishba and Sikander. Here is a small introduction to both of their characters:

photo(191)  Sikander Bhatt (Mohib Mirza) belongs to the famous ‘Bhatt family’ of Lahore owner of the Bhatt Sweet chain. All the members of his family are typical Punjabis except him. He does not have the build nor the appetite or habits of a true Bhatt which is constantly pointed by every member of the family. He happens to be the only grandson of the family and despite of being devoid of any quality of a true Bhatt, he is adored by everyone. The over protective environment of his family causes him to run away from them and he settles in Karachi as soon as he gets a job. He meets Alishba in his university and she had been waiting for more than 3 years now for him to propose. But the problem is; how will he convince his Punjabi family who does not believe in marrying outside the family?

photo(193)

Alishba (Urwa Hocane) belongs to the famous ‘Barood’ family of Karachi. Her parents might be liberal in their views but her Dadi (Badar Khalil) is not. She wants Alishba to get married and this is how the whole problem starts. Alishba convinces Sikander to ask her hand from her family and she even emotionally blackmails her father to say yes but he keeps one condition: that he would not accept the proposal until Sikander comes with his family to ask for Alishba’s hand in marriage.

photo(197)

The first two episodes revolved around the introduction of the characters and Sikander’s family’s reaction to this big news. He came to his house with the intention of convincing his family to take his proposal to Alishba’s house but as soon as his Badi Ammi (played by the veteran actor Sangeeta) hears that he is interested in a girl outside the family, she goes on a protest and refuses to eat anything. To put an end to this situation, Sikander finally comes up with a plan and takes the help of his Chacha (Waseem Abbas) to execute it. Will he be successful in trying to convince Badi Ammi that he is ready to marry within their family?

photo(194)

Sikander has some unique and exceptional characters in his family. I am already in love with Waseem Abbas’s character as the fun loving Chacha as he has performed exceptionally well. Another character which I adored was of Sikander’s cousin Soni, who constantly tries to impress Sikander with her colorful yet failed attempt at Shayari. The very clever Tai and her stammering daughter Guddi also comes in the list of the unique and exceptional characters. Sikander’s mother and Taya seem to be the only normal people in the family.

While Sikander was trying to deal with the tense situation in his house, Alishba and her parents were trying to get rid of the family that was sent by Dadi for Alishba’s proposal. They quickly came up with a plan and by the end of their plan the family was long gone and they all were gloating at their victory.

photo(198)

Other than the two families I loved the relationship of Alishba and Sikander with their best friends. Hamza is Sikander’s best friend while Haniya is Alishba’s best friend and both are helping their best friends through this tough time. The introductory scene where Hamza starts acting to waste the client’s time so that Sikander can reach the office to give the presentation was absolutely hilarious. I really liked the comic timing of the actor played by Hamza.

Well, now the question is: How will Sikander convince his family to agree to his marriage with Alishba? Will his plan succeed? There are many things coming up so don’t forget to watch the show!

Just on a side note: What is wrong with Mohib’s hair? He needs to consult a hairstylist as soon as possible. His hair was distracting me throughout the episode. His long hair suited him way better than this horrendous hairstyle!

Do share your views about this new show!

Silvatein Last Episode – The End! Thank God.

0

Ohkay, I know I will sound really harsh but I am literally glad that this serial has ended. I am utterly disappointed that a serial which started off at such a nice note can decline to such an extent. I have come across a lot of serials, where, by the end I wished I wouldn’t have seen them because I was unable to draw any conclusion or take anything with me but just regret of wasting so much of a time. Alas! Silvatein has left me empty handed as well. It’s in the category of Zard Mausam, Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Mile, Madiha Maliha for me where by the end I’d say that I & the rest of the viewers wouldn’t have missed much if this drama didn’t hit our screens.

To me this family ONLY seemed good at eavesdropping & then making juices & drinking them, LOL! Because trust me it looked as silly as it sounds right now. Ohkay, there were some itsy bitsy parts where I for sure enjoyed the serial & over-looked the flaws but the end has left me speechless. What did we get to understand after watching this drama? That a few years of bully can make you a NUT like Natasha? Or that amulets & these fake fakirs are not to be trusted? Or that a sister can stoop to such a low level where she wishes such ill for her own sister? I am sorry but I fail to understand all these issues. I know, no one takes a drama to take some preaching from it but yeah a viewer who puts in so much time into it really needs something by the end.

Editing of the drama was absolutely ridiculous where Natasha at one point is crying at the hospital for her baby & on the other is sitting calmly besides her bed wondering what went wrong? Where at such a critical point all the family members should’ve been at the hospital but in stead were fighting & eavesdropping at home.

I totally loved Zeb/Rayaan’s relationship but by the end, seeing how cleanly Natasha walked out of all the mess, I just can not understand why Zeb & Rayaan had to go through such a rough patch. At the beginning of their relationship they promised to stand by each other through thick & thin but how could things turn so turbulent for them? Taweez were doing nothing so why that drive was given to their relation? The whole Mikaal thing seemed un-necessary along with so many other things that surfaced in the last few episodes, because the drama became stagnant in between. If they had covered these things way before they actually did, I am sure it would’ve changed the whole scenario of the drama because the unnecessary prolonging & dragging spoiled everything.

The writer & the director made their point CLEAR again & again & again that Natasha was the evil one who would drive her sister to the death-bed by being pretty much at ease with her conscience but just a minor incident could flip her completely seems a bit hard to digest. Ohkay ohkay, let’s get to that ‘Hidayat’ part that she was guided by her miseries so she eventually came back to her senses but then does it really matter by the end? Sorry, to me it doesn’t. Because I am just not satisfied by a few ‘dhamkis‘ that Bilal terribly gave to her. I must say, Bilal just couldn’t act his heart out during such an intended intense scene & rather looked really uncomfortable raising his voice or crying. Where all this while he was just being a softy for his wife, he should have easily cried too, fitting the image he had set for himself during the course of the drama. I am just not happy that Natasha could shed just a few tears after all the things & in the end can take a walk of ‘happily-ever-after’ with her beau.

Once again I’d mention that in the whole serial, Rayaan was my favorite character who never lost the nerves or the calm even in such horrendous situations. He was too good to be true among all these characters who were bought as a reality but couldn’t make a mark. It was pointed out during one of my reviews by the writer that the two sisters understood each other so well? I mean where did that come from? Because even if we tried hard to see that through our imagination, we just couldn’t. To me one sister was just being silly & the other one was being sillier by acting like a Mother Teressa. I’ll say once again that this was the least in this drama where I could expect seeing the whole peer fakir things. May be it was taken after the new trend of sister rivalry but to add some more spice to it the peer fakir thing was added as a bonus.

During all this while & seeing the parents in the end I just couldn’t imagine how oblivious they were shown as parents. Even by the end they just couldn’t figure out what & why & because of whom Zeb was going through all this. Even in the end where Zeb mentions to Rayaan ‘hamare rishte ki silvatain…’ I mean excuse me? Bilal & Natasha are square after all the lies & deceit & Bilal is smiling satisfactorily after all the bickering & insults but Zeb & Rayaan are still thinking on those lines. It should have been shown completely opposite where Natasha still lingered to earn a respect whereas Rayaan & Zeb walked with their heads held high. Because I really didn’t want them to suffer at all, at all for all the things they did & how they acted as elders for their younger siblings. Zeb, who didn’t have a reason, still took all the blame on herself & took things in her hands to mend the situations but still was belittled by Natasha. I actually disliked seeing Natasha turn into the main lead of the drama with her leap of improvement & all the others were put to shame by not being in the limelight. All the attention shifted to the most negative character of the drama in the end & that isn’t what I expected to see.

Along with Zeb’s job resume, Mikaal’s flick, Rayaan’s unease along with the whole end scene where Rayaan & Zeb still sympathized with the make-believe sacrifices of Natasha was un-necessary for me. I mean were they still so blind or so ‘seedhay saadhay’ to actually see that Natasha could never mean good for them because she was selfish to the core. But I did hear Rayaan (after the exposure of the situation) utter that I understood Natasha way back & way too clearly, so then why was he seen feeling guilty by the thought of Natasha’s gesture of Dua & Taweez for their baby? Another flaw in the dialogues then I guess.

It was a good effort which started off really well but the un-necessary stretch & the weak script left it dangling in between. I came across positive & negative, both the feed-backs about the play but the end put a seal to the verdict that the drama was wasted. I don’t know who is to be blamed but let’s call it even seeing the efforts they have put into this. The cast seems really innocent in this matter because they did put in a lot of effort in doing their best but they themselves didn’t know what they were getting into. I really salute Adeel Hussain & Amina Sheikh for doing justice to their characters & providing us with such a subtle chemistry which really left an impact because if there’s one thing I am going to remember about this drama, it’s going to be their couple.

Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Resham’s Zakat Distribution Event turned into a battlefield-See Video

0

Ramadan is a month of blessings where all the Muslims fast to seek closeness of Allah and it is this month only which holds the maximum reward of doing charity to share your wealth with the needy and suffering ones of the society.

Like many other Muslims, Pakistani actress Resham also takes out a part of her wealth as Zakat and share the money with the junior artists of her own industry. She has been doing so since years but unfortunately, this year the event turned out to be a different experience where some aged-women started fighting over the share in the event and resulted in a real coos. The event turned into a battlefield as people rushed over one another to grab their hands on Zakat money. Adding more to this, even the lack of management also made things worse. Avoiding further wicked situation, Resham had no other option but to escape from the place from backstage, leaving the candidates empty hands.

resham1

Film star Resham is one of those few celebrities who love to aid the suffering ones of the society and is always up for a good cause. She has been visiting Shaukat Khanum Memorial hospital to spend time with cancer patients and out of good-will and human care. She also annually holds such events to make a difference in the lives of junior artists who hardly earn enough to meet their livings.

See Filmstar Resham’s Zakat Distribution Ceremony Exclusively with ARY News Lahore here.

Although the event turned into a total mess, we still appreciate her ideology.

Share your views and let us know what more shall our celebrities should do to play their role for the betterment of society rather than just coming on live shows and talking senseless.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 14 – Ashiya’s Entry!

0

This week’s episode was beyond depressing! Maryam was on top of this world when her daughter Ashiya was born and Zayaan came to meet her in the hospital in high spirits. Her relationship with Zayaan had been strained for the past few months and she was happy to see that Ashiya became the reason for the change in Zayaan’s attitude towards her. But sadly, the change in his attitude did not last for long.

photo(188)

Nusrat wanted Zayaan to know about the birth of his daughter as late as possible so that Maryam would be kept waiting at the hospital but her plan was unsuccessful as Amna called him and informed him about the good news, and he immediately rushed to the hospital. After her first plan failed, she quickly thought of a new plan. As soon as Zayaan came home, she started her melodrama about ‘not being told about her grand daughter earlier’ and asked him to bring Maryam to their house immediately.

Afshah and Nusrat’s treatment with Maryam after she came home was just terrible, I could not help but pity Maryam’s situation. Nusrat was taking such good care of her daughter while Maryam was neglected and nobody bothered about her health. Maryam was ordered by her mother-in-law to start working as soon as she came home from the hospital. Nusrat simply showed no pity towards Maryam even when she saw that all the work is taking a toll on her health. Nobody was even ready to offer her some help; when she asked Afshah to take care of Ashiya for a little while, she rudely told her that she cannot handle Arij and Ashia at the same time. Even when she went to Afshah’s room to see Afshah’s son Arij for the first time, she made it clear that she was not welcomed there. On top of that, Nusrat also did not forget to taunt Maryam about coming to meet Arij for the first time empty handed.

Khurram’s whole family came to Zayaan’s house for dinner to congratulate him on the birth of his daughter and while everybody was playing with and praising Ashiya, Maryam was standing nearby and enjoying the scene until Afshah told her to go and serve dinner. Maryam desperately wanted to be part of the celebration and she looked longingly at them from afar with tears in her eyes.

photo(189)

There was absolutely no expectation from Nusrat that she would take care of Maryam, but Zayaan should have at least thought about Maryam’s health. Maryam was busy looking after the house the whole day and then she used to be up all night because of Ashiya. If this was not enough, she was also given the responsibility of Arij when Afshah was unwell. She just looked wishfully at Khurram when she saw how he took care of Arij and was up because of him the whole night so that Afshah could rest. Her case was just the opposite; when she fell asleep because she was unwell, Zayaan accused her of not taking care of his daughter well because she did not want a child in the first place. Her words hurt Maryam a lot but she knew that there was no point saying anything to Zayaan to convince him of her innocence.

Instead of understanding her situation and taking care of her, Zayaan constantly blamed her for being careless and when she got extremely sick, he even got angry at her for not telling him about her deteriorating health! She then clearly told him that she had no time to look after herself because she had so many responsibilities and even this offended him. Everything that Maryam says or does now offends him, thanks to the brain washing done by Nusrat. The only thing good in the episode was that Zayaan is no longer paying any attention to Faiza.

The preview for the next episode is pretty shocking as it is a twist I did not expect. I really hope nothing happens to Ashiya because of Maryam’s condition. Let’s see what happens next!

Till then!

Drama Serial Kadurat’s official photoshoot!

0

The drama most awaited has finally made its way to the heart of the viewers and with its first episode been on air, the drama-lovers have found their next venture to stick with. Replacing ‘Tanhai’ on Wednesdays, ‘Kadurat’ is a different story which is been written by Zoha Hassan and directed by Aabis Raza. Just like most of the Hum TV projects, even this one too belongs to the Moomal Productions and probably this is one of the major reasons that we see the cream actors being a part of this drama. The cast of the drama is enough to drag a considerable audience which loves to see actors like Sanam Saeed, Omal Sheikh, Imran Aslam, Deepak Perwani, Angeline Malik, Nida, Junaid Khan and Adnan Jaffer.

The drama highlights the agony of a girl whose father remarries after the death of her mother and her step-mother, along with her two children, enters in her house and life. The second mother however isn’t shown as a typical step-mother but Meera is really not willing to watch her replacing her mother in her father’s life. Giving a hard time to the entire family, Meera’s conduct forces her father to send her to a hostel where she really experiences a hard time as being away from her home.

Coming towards the characters of the drama, it was really amazing to find that the child artists have done a great job and even their getups are been done closely to give them a touch of the celebrities they would turn into on-screen.

Here are a few high quality pictures that are been revealed as official clicks of the drama.

Have a look!

Kadurat Episode 01 – A Good Start

0

After watching the promos and reading the synopsis of the story of Kadurat online, I guess we all had a fair idea what we were in for. For me Sanam Saeed and Deepak Perwani in particular had to be the key reason for looking forward to this show. Besides that the promos seemed very enticing, mainly because they made it look like this was going to be a very happening play! I haven’t watched another play written by Zoha Hassan, so I am not sure what to expect, which actually is a good feeling. The play has been directed by Aabis Raza – the same director who has directed Kankar. Apart from Kankar, he has directed many other plays as well for instance Zard Mausam and Mujhe Roothne Na Dena.

kadurat 1

One thing that I wasn’t expecting at all was that the first episode actually reminded me of Zard Mausam quite a lot – yes the circumstances of this particular household are world apart but the fact that the same child star who played Aimen is playing the character of Meena brought back a lot of memories because the two characters are very similar. The only difference is that the father’s attitude is completely different towards her daughter in this particular play.

kadurat 2

Kadurat is the story of Mahmood’s (Deepak Perwani) household. Mahmood had a happy, stable life until his wife Zainab (Zhalay Sarhadi) passed away in an accident. We didn’t find out just how much time has elapsed since his wife passed away but it seemed like she died only recently. Mahmood marries another woman (Angeline Malik) mainly because he needs someone to look after his daughter. His second wife had an abusive husband who never trusted her and he divorced her over a petty issue. She has two kids Asad (Fazal Hussain) and Aleena (Yashal Nadeem) and as his second wife points out she got married to Mahmood only because of “zarurat”. Mahmood’s daughter Meena is not willing to accept her step mother and siblings; she turns violent and resorts to all kinds of mischievous tactics to get the kids and the mother out of her house. Meena’s father never even told her before bringing this new family in the house and it was quite evident that Meena is not ready for such a big change. I definitely hold the father’s wrong decision partially responsible for the outcome. She was very fond of her mother and would not allow any other woman to take her place. Mahmood finds it very difficult to deal with this complicated situation especially because Meena’s behavior goes from bad to worse. Her step mother also tries her utmost to deal with the situation in an apt manner but Meena turns into a stubborn child who won’t listen to any amount of reasoning. Her greatest fear is that “these people” will take her father away from her and that fear is going to come true in the next episode. She is too young to understand that it is her own behavior that will lead to what is coming ahead. The preview of the next episode showed that Mahmood decides to send Meena to the hostel.

kadurat 3

Mahmood’s inability to deal with the situation was actually quite relatable. Women are far better at dealing with children than men. Overall, this first episode was well directed and very well acted out. All the child stars in particular did an outstanding job but I do feel for the child star playing Meena because this young girl is so talented but the producers seem to be typecasting her.I especially noticed the way the flashbacks were shown in black and white , that added a good effect to the overall feel of this first episode. I really liked the fact that the story starts from Meena’s childhood, that way the viewers will understand better why Meena is the way she is. Having said that Meena’s character is a little on the extreme side, I wish we could have seen a gradual worsening of behavior as opposed to this evil child who has actually been raised by two very good hearted people. I know that something so tragic as a mother’s sudden death can be very disturbing for a child and he or she can react in any possible manner but even then Meena’s character did seem a little unbelievable since she wasn’t always so evil. Meena, even with all her negativity seemed like a child who wanted attention and did not know what to do to fill the void in her life that was left by her mother’s demise.

Did you watch the first episode of Kadurat? Share your views about it. I am really looking forward to Sanam Saeed’s “entry” in the next episode and all the drama that will ensue!

The Most Promising Newcomers

0

It has been quite a while since I made a list of talented newcomers in the television industry because honestly speaking many of the newcomers in the industry lately seemed to be more disappointing than promising. Things have change in the past few months though, there are a few new actors and actresses who have greatly impressed many with their acting skills and sometimes it is difficult to tell that they are newbies. Here is a list of newcomers who are very talented and are sure to go a long way.

1. Sanam Jung

Sanam Jung is just plain adorable; seeing her on screen is always refreshing. I admit that there are times when her acting can leave a lot to be desired for but there are also times when she completely steals the show. Dil-e-Muztar is Sanam’s first television play but she has been associated with the world of showbiz for many years now. Sanam Jung does need to polish her acting skills more but for a newbie she is doing a great job. I am sure all she needs to do is to work with a few good directors and she will be one of the most sought after actresses around. You know what I really like about this girl – her confidence and of course her beautiful smile. Sanam Jung seems like a go-getter and I honestly believe that the right attitude can take anyone a long way. She is full of energy and vibrant, I especially noticed that when she hosted the Zindagi Gulzar Hai special show.

2. Mira Sethi

Yes Natasha is very annoying! Probably one of the most annoying and negative characters that we have seen on screen in a long time but the fact that we hate her so much goes to prove that the actress Mira Sethi who is playing this character is doing a brilliant job. I have to say that there have been many times when I have sided with Natasha’s character and tried defending her outrageous behavior only because I love the actress. It is difficult to tell that Silvatein is Mira Sethi’s first play because she is performing so well. I hope that we will be seeing more of Mira Sethi very soon and I also hope the next time around she does something completely different.

3. Mukarram Kaleem

Mukarram Kaleem started his acting career from the play Aik Nayee Cinderella but for me he really stands out in the play Aunn Zara. Mukarram Kaleem plays the Leading character’s best friend Manzar. The two friends are very close to one another so Manzar’s character is an important one in the show. Acting comes very naturally to this young man, he has the confidence to face the camera and his body language and expressions are just perfect. Will we be seeing Mukarram Kaleem in comedy roles only in the future too? I hope not, I hope we see him in more diverse roles.

mukaram kaleem

4. Suniya Shamshad

Suniya is not a newcomer in the strict sense of the word but Rehaii proved to be the first break through for her. Suniya proved that if she works with a good director and a strong script, she has very good potential. She is unquestionably another actress who is likely to go a long way if given the opportunity.

rehaii

5. Sundus Tariq

I have Sundas Tariq act in Hamnasheen and in Maan Ke Moti, she has completely different roles in both the plays but she does complete justice to both of them. She deserves to get meatier roles in the future so that she can prove her talent further.

hamnasheen3

Would you like to add any other names to the list? Are there any other new actors who you think have a lot of potential? Feel free to add to the list.

Mira Sethi’s Interview Published in a Magazine

0

Mira Sethi who made her debut in the field of acting as Natasha in drama serial Silvetien is now enjoying a significant limelight for her acting skills. Being the daughter of a senior journalist Najam Sethi who happened to be the former (caretaker) chief minister of Punjab, Mira is too fond of writing and is a known editor and writer. Her acting in her debut drama is highly appreciated by the drama-lovers who love to hate her as Natasha these days. Mira has truly given her role all what it needed.

Silvatein is an on-going drama serial on ARY which revolves around two sisters, Zaib and Natasha and the mixed feelings the two always had for one another. Natasha, who was always overshadowed by her elder sister, starts hating her and wants to get rid of her existence in her life but destiny plays even meeker and Zaib is married to Natasha’s brother-in-law.

Mira has done a fabulous job and though she portrays a negative character on-screen, audience can still not neglect what a wonderful actress she is. It was only last week that her exclusive interview was published in a magazine where she shared all about herself and answered all what her fans always wanted to know.

Here are the clips of Interview taken. Have a look!

The Most Lovable On-Screen Couples

0

What makes an on-screen couple melt your heart and sizzle the screen? In my opinion the success of any on-screen couple is due to two reasons, firstly the chemistry between the pair and secondly the script. The script makes a big difference because even if the chemistry is mind blowing but the dialogues and the story does not click to the audience than the couple’s good chemistry may not prove to be any good. A classic example is that of Amna and Urooj from Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley, the viewers were drooling over the couple because their love was portrayed wonderfully but then when Amna fell in love with the villain, Urooj’s character was reduced to a caricature and things took a spiral turn. Some couples don’t have the perfect ending but their entire journey all through the play is so touching that the viewers love them till the end. Here is a list of couples from recent times who have blown away the audience, they are the on-screen couples who will be remembered forever.

Mansoor and Shehwar

Mansoor and Shehwar’s characters were played impeccably by Meekal Zulfiqar/ Mohammad Qavi and Sanam Baloch/Samina Peerzada. What was about this couple that set it apart from rest of the on-screen couples of recent times? I think that it was that their misunderstandings and problems were very real and the love that ensued later on was very inspiring. To me, Mansoor and Durr-e-Shehwar’s story was the most amazing love story of recent times. I can never forget the last scene of the final episode and the dialogues. Mansoor and Durr-e-Shehwar in young and old age both melted my heart, I will never forget them.

 mlc1mlc3

Asher and Khirad

These two need absolutely no introduction; Hamsafar was a hit only because Asher and Khirad bowled people over by their innocent love. Both the characters were shaped out faultlessly; also the chemistry between these two was unparalleled. It is also a fact that the good looks were a big factor that contributed to the success of this couple. Ever since Hamsafar has ended people have been dying to see this couple together again on-screen. The story of Hamsafar was not outstanding, I think that the only reason it was such a huge success was because of Sarmad Khoosat’s stupendous direction and the chemistry between the leading pair.

 mlc5

Bano and Hassan

Bano and Hassan never had their happy ending but it is also true that Dastaan was not a love story. Bano’s character essentially portrayed ever single person in the subcontinent which had fought hard to acquire a piece of land for the Muslims. Bano’s expectations from this land of pure reflected the hopes of many Muslims at that time. Even though Dastaan was the story of the freedom struggle in the subcontinent but Bano and Hassan were the central characters in the story. Their love was pure and the chemistry between Fawad Khan and Sanam Baloch set the screen on fire. In the end when Bano and Hassan did not get married, many of the viewers were very disappointed. Many people thought that the ending was heartbreaking. Many of the Bano/Hassan fans have also shown their wish to see the same lead pair again too.

 mlc2

Aabi and Haniya

Ah! I can never forget Aabi and Haniya, their romance was a fairytale without a doubt which ended with a grave tragedy. Adeel Hussain and Sarwat Gillani looked very cute together. Aabi was the perfect fairytale hero; he showered Haniya with all the love and care in the world. Some people thought that their love was too cheesy but I thought it was very sweet.

 mlc7

Serena and Kishmish

I must confess that there wasn’t much that I liked about Tanhaiyaan Nayee Silsilay. The only reason I kept on watching the play till the end was Serena’s character and later on the sugary love that blossomed between Kishmish and Serena. The scene in which Kishmish proposes Serena was out of this world and their romance was very cute. Out of all the plays that I have seen recently, Serena and Kishmish are the ones who stand out for me. Syra Yousuf and Shehroz Sabzwari got married when the play was on air. The real life wedding pictures added to the love I felt for this on-screen couple.

mlc8mlc9

This looks like a very pro Hum TV list but that wasn’t intentional at all. Which were the couples in the recent dramas which you found most lovable? Do share.

Actress Meera is done with her Certified English Course from Canada!

0

Pakistan is a country which owns Urdu as its national language, where english is also one of the major languages and is officially used in judiciary, legislature and education. Despite of the constant press on the significance of the language, there are about 60% of the population which cannot speak english and as a matter of fact, the said issue is no more considered as a flaw. In our entertainment industry, however, speaking english is an added charm for the celebrities and who are not good at it try to either hide it as their weakness or try to learn it.

Meera1

The most controversial one in this matter, Meera, has recently completed her two months certified english course from Canada and will be getting her certificate in coming weeks. She, who had been criticized for her wrong english most of the time repeatedly have said in different shows that though she didn’t know how to speak english, she still wants to learn the language. Now that she has done all what she could for the learning process, there are people and her fans especially who are delighted with the news. According to the latest reveals, the actress recently attended a fashion show in Lahore and while she was questioned about it, she answered media confidently in english which was quite smooth.

IND1777A.JPG

It is so rightly said that there is no age limit specified to learn and Meera has proved it.

With she, even we hope that media will spare her now and will no more be making her wrong english a fun.

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 20 – Silah’s Dilemma!

0

As the show is nearing towards it end, the curiosity amongst the viewers is riding higher. This week’s episode was based on Silah’s dilemma; she did know what to believe and what path to choose. On one hand, Adeel’s confession about his love for her is ringing in her ears and on the other hand, Safeena is emotionally blackmailing her to sign the divorce papers. There is no doubt that Safeena has the best interest at heart but she just cannot understand how hard it is for Silah to take such a huge step.

Silah’s inner turmoil is making her uneasy so she turns to the only person she can confide in in such a complex situation. Ahmer’s baba is very close to Silah’s heart and she goes to him to discuss her problem and take his advice. When she came to his house out of the blue, he understood that something was wrong and when Silah explained him the situation, he gave her true and unbiased advice. Even though he desperately wants Silah to marry Ahmer, he refused to talk to Safeena about it because she would pressurize Silah and she might make the decision that would make her unhappy. Baba told Ahmer clearly that he needs to talk to Silah directly and let her make the final decision.

It is just astonishing to see this new side of Ahmer, even Silah was taken aback by his boldness. When he saw her in his house making coffee in the kitchen, he hinted how happy he was to see her in his house. Silah definitely knows how to deal with such an awkward situation; she just smiles and changes the topic so that Ahmer would not get offended.

 photo(180)

Sami apologized to Adeel for Nabeela’s behavior and clearly told him that the only person who truly deserves his explanation is Silah and Adeel finally gathered courage and went to Silah’s cabin to talk to her. His first attempt to talk to her turned out to be unsuccessful as Silah rudely told him that she is busy. Adeel, however, does not give up and goes up to her cabin again the very next day and this time he remains stubborn when she refuses to talk to him and they finally talk about what happened about 5 years ago. Their misunderstanding did not clear because Silah did not let him explain and ordered him to ‘get out’. Adeel had kept his ego aside for the first time in his life and initiated the conversation with Silah. He even admitted to her that marrying Zoya was the worst decision of his life (Isn’t it too late to realize this Adeel?) and he never loved her but Silah cannot forget what she saw with her own eyes on the day of Affan’s death and for her all that Adeel says is a complete lie. In this way, I doubt their misunderstanding will ever get cleared!

dm 01

Zoya’s mother is again filing her ears with total nonsense. They think if Adeel apologizes to Silah, she might promote him to a higher position in her office. How pathetic! She even tells Zoya to go to Silah’s office and apologize to her and according to the preview for the next episode; this is exactly what she does. As if Silah does not have enough problems to deal with already!

dm 02Adeel sudden interest in Silah’s welfare was very surprising. He gave up the pretense of being ‘formal’ and spoke to her like he genuinely cared. Silah just chose to ignore his words and acted like she was least bothered. But as soon as she comes home, she could help but recall Adeel’s words and she was still struggling to make the biggest decision of her life, that is whether to sign the divorce papers or not. She even recalled Affan’s words when she asked him what he wants as a gift, and he replied that he wants his ‘papa’. The innocent demand from the small child left her shocked and speechless and the decision to leave Adeel got even harder.

The last scene where she picks up the divorce papers left us all in suspense. Will Silah finally sign the papers? Well, we would need to wait till next week to find out!

Share your opinion about the episode! Should Silah sign the divorce papers?

Iram Parveen Bilal To Cast Shahrukh Khan in her next Film?

It is certainly a pleasure to see our Film industry reviving and truly, the credit goes to the filmmakers like Sharmeen Obaid, Sarmad Khoosat, Shoaib Mansoor and Iram Parveen Bilal who have not only entertained the local audience with their work, but have also earned respect, fame and recognition in world outside. Iram Parveen Bilal is one of those realistic filmmakers who pick issues audience can relate with. Her upcoming movie ‘Josh’ has already created enough of hype and will be making its way to cinemas this eid. The promos have gone on-air and have received applause by the audience.

Natural Beauties Of Our Television Industry

0

There are many beautiful and attractive actresses in our television industry but it is also a fact that not all of them are natural beauties. Some of them look good only when they wear a lot of make up and many others have undergone plastic surgeries as well. I would like to point out the names of those actresses here who are natural beauties, this doesn’t mean that there are prettier than all others in the industry but it means that they look good even if they don’t wear very heavy make-up.

Mahira Khan

Mahira is one of the very few actresses who actually wears very little make-up and still looks good. In fact she has the sort of face that will probably not look that good with too much make-up. Take for instance these picture, Mahira was the brand ambassador for some cosmetic company so she wore heavy make up (the first picture) but in my opinion the natural look suits her much more.

Ayesha Omer

Ayesha Omer also looks great in a casual look. Even if she wears no make up at all, she looks cute. The fair skin makes a big difference and she has cute features too. We don’t usually see Ayesha wearing tons of eye shadow or with very made-up hair in most of her dramas but she looks lovely nevertheless.

Alishba Yousuf

I think Alishba looked her best in Ek Nazar Meri Taraf because she wore minimal make-up especially in the later half of the play. Alishba is most certainly one of those actresses who actually don’t look good in heavy make-up. A little foundation, mascara and lip gloss and this beauty is good to go! Her features are almost perfect too so there is no need for contouring.

Juggan Kazim

I know Juggan does not fall in the category of a typical Pakistani beauty but she is cute and looks just as good in absolutely no make-up look as she does in a lot of make-up. I have seen her many times in real life too, she looks a lot younger in real life than she does on screen and is equally pretty.

Zeba Bakhtiar

Although Zeba Bakhtiar is much older than the actresses I mentioned above but she definitely falls in the same category. She is also one of those actresses who actually look better with very little make-up than with a lot of make up. She has a glowing skin and very cute features.

Sanam Baloch

I have never liked Sanam Baloch in a lot of make-up, it makes her look a lot older than her age. On the other hand she looks adorable in a little make-up because she has a naturally cute face which does not require much decorating.

Samina Peerzada

Samina Peerzada is an ageless beauty. Her beautiful features combined with her brilliant acting skills still make her a show stealer. She gets just as much praise for her work as any leading actresses who people love. This list would be incomplete without her.

Ayza Khan

I saw two episodes of Ghalti Se Mistake Ho Gayee, Ayza is wearing excessive make-up in that sitcom and it does not suit her at all. She looked great in Kahi Unkahi and Zard Mausam in which she had a more natural look. Ayza also has one of those faces that actually look better with less make-up.

Syra Yousuf

Syra Yousuf is hip and trendy. Her style is very casual and it suits her very well. I have never liked Syra in outrageous hairdos or red lipsticks. She carries the natural look much more nicely, she has very pretty hair which do not need a lot of work. Like many of the actresses in this list she is not a classic beauty like she does not have big eyes or a sharp nose etc but she is very cute and very stylish.

 syra yusyra yussyra yuse

There are many actresses in our industry who look great in make-up. Amina Sheikh is the prime example, no one looks as great in make-up as she does because the make-up completely transforms her. Do you agree with the list? Feel free to disagree. Also add to the list if you think there are other actresses who fall in this category.

Top 7 VJ turned Actresses!

0

Our Industry is full of talent that is waiting to be explored and this is the reason that the ultimate destination for every singer, Video Jokey (VJ), Radio Jokey (RJ), anchor is acting. Some have turned out to be a major hit while some have just vanished after their first show. The most appreciated lot so far is of the VJ turned actresses. Here is the list of the Top 7 VJ turned actresses:

1

Mahira Khan:

mahira khan

Mahira Khan had started her career as a VJ on MTV Pakistan and her LIVE show was one of the highest rated shows on MTV. She also hosted the show ‘Weekends with Mahira’ on Aag TV. She got her first break as an actress from the movie ‘Bol’ which was directed by Shoaib Mansoor. I remember seeing the movie and saying ‘She needs to learn how to act’. Then Neeyat went on air and my only thought was ‘She really needs to go back to being a VJ, acting is just not her thing’. But her next show bowled everyone over, her drastic improvement was astonishing and we all know which show that was! She recently won the ‘Best Actress Award – Satellite’ for Humsafar in LSA 2013 and the ‘Best Actress’ for Shehr-e-Zaat in Hum TV Awards. After Humsafar, she was even better in Shehr-e-Zaat where she played a totally different character from all her previous shows. So yes, she tops my list!

Mawra Hocane:

Mawra Hocane started her career as a VJ on ATV Pakistan. She then started appearing in advertisements and was also seen in small roles in different television shows. She finally got her big break from the show ‘Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai’ where she was seen in a parallel lead and played a negative character. After that she appeared in one popular show after the other. The best quality about her is that she can play both a negative and positive character to perfection and this is the reason why she comes second in my list. She can easily mould herself into the innocent character that she played in ‘Ik Tamanna Lahasil Si’ and ‘Main Guneghar Nahi’ or the extremely negative character in ‘Mera Harjai’ and ‘Yahan Pyar Nahi Hai’. She has proved her acting skills in a very short time.

Alishba Yousuf:

alishab yousuf

Alishba started her career as a VJ on Aag TV and then made her debut as an actress from the show ‘Chaand Pe Dastak’. She was, however, noticed for the first time in the serial ‘Main Abdul Qadir Hoon’. Her performance in this show was below average and I could not see a bright future ahead of her but she surprised everyone with her performance in ‘Ek Nazar Meri Taraf’. I was amazed at her improvement and I started looking forward to more of her work after that. Her phenomenal performance in her last two shows ‘Tanhaiyan-Naye Silsilay’ and ‘Mere Dard Ko Zuban Mile’ has managed to awe the audiences.

4

Sanam Jung:

sanam jung

Sanam started her career as a VJ on Aag TV and debuted as an actress from the show ‘Dil-e-Muztar’. Sanam Jung comes 4th in my list of the Top 7 VJs. Why? Because amongst all the people in this list, she has made the best debut. Usually actors perform poorly in their first serial but she has performed like an experienced actor in her very first show. I have great expectation from her in the future!

5

Syra Yousuf:

syra yousuf

Syra was initially seen as a VJ on MTV Pakistan and later she moved towards acting and was seen in a major role in the popular show ‘Mera Naseeb’ which turned out to be a hit. Her acting in her first serial can be considered as average but with each passing show her performance became better. Her roles in ‘Bilquees Kaur’ and ‘Tanhaiyaan-Naye Silsilay’ were liked and appreciated by everyone.

6

Urwa Hocane:

urwa

Urwa started her career as a VJ on Ary Musik and gained popularity in a very short time. She debuted as an actress from the show ‘Meri Ladli’ which became a huge hit. After that there was no stopping her, she came in one show after the other and proved herself as an actress. In most of her serials she has played negative roles but now she has slowly becoming more versatile. She is now doing a comedy sitcom called ‘Namak Paray’ and another show called ‘Aik Pagal Si larki’ and it is refreshing to see her in new roles.

7

Naveen Waqar:

naveen waqar

Naveen Waqar started her career with the live music request show, “Pick and Choose with Fuse” on Aag TV. Not many people know that she started her career as an actor from a Tele film ‘Ab Set Hai’ but she got noticed by audiences by her negative role in Humsafar. Her role as ‘Sara’ in Humsafar was very well received by the audiences as she had done an excellent for a new comer. Her role in ‘Ainie Ki Ayegi Barat’ was also liked by the audiences.

Feel free to add to the list and do share your opinion about the ranking!
