Abrar ul Haq is the Bhangra King of Punjab. He started his music career with Billo De Ghar after completing his studies and starting a teaching job at Aitchison College. He went on to become music royalty and created the best music of all time. His songs are played and loved universally during festivals and weddings.
It was Abrar ul Haq’s niece Amna’s wedding and it became viral on the internet. Abrar was in attendance alongside his beautiful wife Hareem Abrar. The couple enjoyed the wedding as they gave their blessings to the newlyweds. Here are some moments from the family event:
Abrar ul Haq is a famous politician, singer and philanthropist. He has given some of the most iconic bhangra songs in Pakistan’s music history. The way he has brought Billo and Nach Punjaban to the bhangra scene is phenomenal. After the sharp decline of democratic environment in Pakistani politics, he has completely shifted towards concerts and he is focusing on his Sahara Trust.
Abrar ul Haq was under criticism sometime back while he was performing at a charity concert. A man brought his baby to him and he put a 5 dollar bill into his pocket which was basically charity money. People had said a lot about him at the time.
Now as Abrar ul Haq was in the UK for another charity concert, he had a heated argument with a journalist who accused him of taking that charity money. He was also angry at these accusations. He passionately revealed how he put the money in his pocket at the time as he had to hold the baby. He also called out people who are trying to gain views by this wrongful propaganda.
This is how a heated exchange took place between the star and a journalist:
Abrar ul Haq is a phenomenal Pakistani singer who gained timeless fame through his hit Punjabi Bhangra and pop songs in the early nineties. His popular chart-buster songs include Billo, Cycle, Jatt, Rang Rang, Pardesi, December, Sanu Tere Naal, Nach Punjaban, and Chamkeeli, among others. Abrar ul Haq is currently admired for his charity work and his services in the health sector. He was previously part of PTI, which he left years ago when state oppression against the party started after Imran Khan was ousted.
Recently, Abrar ul Haq appeared on Hasna Mana Hai, where he revealed why he left politics and PTI.
Replying to an audience member’s question, “Why did you leave PTI?” Abrar ul Haq said, “First of all, we should not talk about politics here on this entertainment platform. However, I believe that some things are obvious and known facts. You already know the reality behind it. Now you belong to PML-N, so what can I say to you? I just humbly listened to what you said.”
He further added, “I would like to say that I am not in to politics anymore and everyone knows why, I won’t go into details, as you all know what happened. But I would like to address the youth: we are indoctrinated to believe that this country cannot be fixed, that corruption cannot end. We have been hypnotized to the extent that good people do not even think to come forward. They deliberately keep good people away so that nothing good happens in this country, and we keep being governed by corrupt people. But you cannot imagine the benefits of the Youth Parliament.”
Abrar Ul Haq and Jawad Ahmed are two popular Pakistani Bhangra and pop singers who have seen a huge popularity in the nineties. The two singers got timeless fame through their iconic Punjabi hit bhangra songs. The singers were always considered big rivals. Both the singers are also known for their charity work and philanthropy. Well,Jawad Ahmed often initiates the fights with Abrar Ul Haq through his rude and harsh statements.
Lately, Abrar Ul Haq responded to Jawad Ahmed’s accusations against him in Public News’s show. While replying to the question, “Jawad Ahmed says that you are a religious hypocrite, what do you say about it?”. He replied, “God Forbid! it is only Allah’s decision if I am a hypocrite or not, but even if he’s saying it then I should revisit myself, but I think his statement about me is not right, I am saying this after revisiting myself. I always talk about Allah in my statements and he doesn’t like this thing about me, he says that a sinner is talking about Allah. Actually, people are jealous, I pray to Allah to keep me safe from jealousy of such people. Actually, it is the inner aggression and frustration of the people who are a failure in life, it is a famous quote that a jealous person will always stay in anger because of his failures.
Talking about him being a competitor, Abrar Ul Haq said, “I used to get awards because of either my popularity, or jury’s decision or the public voting, I used to feel sorry for him. He also copied me in charity, in the start he used to say those who are doing charity are the ones who failed in their professions. He used to send fake callers to sabotage my charity collections but it never harmed me”. Here is the link to the video:
Also read the post of Jawad Ahmed where he wrote that Abrar Ul Haq is a religious hypocrite:

He also said, ‘once my father urged me to help someone with money, the poor man needed a hefty amount for building his rooftop, I gave half of the amount, meanwhile, I was praying from Allah for the success of my new songs. It was the moment when I realized that Allah has given me a lot and I am still asking for more, and I am not willing to give money to the poor guy, Allah is giving me without judging me and I judged that person on merit. I shared this with my father too, who said, ‘that is why I say you to be generous’. So, I learnt a lot from my father.

He has always given her respect and having respect for your wife is not being joru ka ghulam. It was just the love and appreciation that a husband should have for his wife.
Here is what he shared:
He also spoke about how many actors have married more than once. They had multiple wives and many kids. They did not think how they will be able to provide for these families once their prime is over. Therefore, he will never ever be able to understand this practice of having more than one wife.
Abid Brohi, the rapper from Sibbi who collaborated with SomeWhatSuper with the Sibbi Song through the platform of Patari made his voice and presence heard and felt.
The song took the social media by a storm. It was part of Tabeer, a project by Patari which aimed to feature those voices of Pakistan which would never find big platforms. It featured office boys and people from rural and working class backgrounds.
Instep got into touch with Abid Brohi and Talha Dar and Feroze Faisal from SomeWhatSuper related to his newfound fame and success.
Brohi had to say:
“People used to laugh at me, everyone would just tell me to give up; ‘this will not take you anywhere in life’ they said to me.”
Whatever he was earning wasn’t enough for him to travel far in order to meet musicians who would appreciate his talent. He talked about the kind of jobs he was doing:
“I was working in a cloth store for Rs.100 a day. I then shifted to Quetta and got a better paying job that gave me Rs.6000 per month.”
He even tried his best to reach Lahore and he did when a Pakistani established musician invited him. However, when he reached Lahore, the musician was unavailable on his cellphone and later, Brohi found out that the musician wasn’t even in the country. Brohi expressed:
“I was so heartbroken that day. I came all the way to Lahore facing so many difficulties. I had really high hopes.”
Later, a documentary filmmaker met him at Sibbi’s annual mela.
“Raza (Shah) met Brohi and heard him sing. He then recorded his vocals and sent them over to us, and we started working on the song,” shared Dar with instep.
“I kept pestering SomeWhatSuper for a whole year then,” said Brohi.
And, after a year, he received a phone call to come to Karachi.
“I was prepared this time. I asked for the contact details of at least five, six other people. Someone or the other had to answer my call!”
And hence, the Sibbi song came into being.
“One day my brother came running to tell me I’m on TV. And there I saw myself. I couldn’t believe it. I started shivering and crying out of happiness. My dream had finally come true.I couldn’t even eat for a whole week because I was so happy!”
This response by Brohi is rather heartwarming and amazing.
All three of them now have corporates lined behind them wanting to work with them. SomeWhatSuper is currently working on a film’s soundtrack while Brohi has a big corporate project to look forward to.
“My friends now call me ‘kadday’ jokingly from the song’s line ‘Kadday milda se’ meaning when will we meet again?” concluded Brohi.

Legendary actor Abid Ali’s daughter Raahmaa Ali shared the marriage story of her father and mother and how they were deeply in love with each other.
Abid Ali married Humaira Chaudhry and the couple has three daughters Maryam Ali, Iman Ali and Raahmaa Ali.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “A beautiful picture from the day my parents got married. They were insanely in love! My mother was a very young yet known actor and singer at PTV. My father, a boy who had come all the way from Quetta to Lahore to become an actor, walked into PTV Station and eventually my mother’s life. They had both developed a liking for each other from a distance and had their little ‘stare at each other’ contest going on till they finally worked in a project together.Papa fell in love with the pretty and happy-go-lucky girl and kept chasing her till she finally said yes (who wouldn’t, he was one handsome guy with a very charming personality) and the two started ‘going out’.”
Raahmaa Ali shared, “They decided to get married a cpl of years later. The families weren’t too happy but my parents forced their parents and made it happen because they couldn’t ‘live without each other’ anymore. But like, almost every other love, their’s started to fade too. He’d be too busy working and being indulged in all the things men do outside of marriages. It all started to fall apart. She was home (back in Lahore tho) giving birth to and raising children and he was out there, shining bright like a diamond. It does get annoying. They had serious problems but somehow managed to hold it together for good 30 years.”
“It had become weak enough for another woman to take full advantage of the gap between the two. So the second, unannounced, marriage happened. And whatever little, imperfect world we had, came crashing down. Nothing ever went back to normal! And now he’s gone forever.”
In the end, she said, “I wonder why love is so fragile. I wonder why it almost never lasts forever. P.S. This is what I like abt pictures. They’re proof that once, even if just for a heartbeat, everything was perfect!”
The daughter of Abid Ali took to Instagram to inform the public about her father’s death. He passed away at the age of 67. He took his last breath at Karachi’s Liaquat National Hospital. He was diagnosed with liver disease.

The Asia Cup buzz has been going strong for the past three weeks, especially with the back-to-back Pakistan vs India matches on Sundays. This Sunday, the two traditional rivals will meet again in the final match, which has already stirred heated debates across the border. Meanwhile, a recent slip of tongue by Shoaib Akhtar, the Rawalpindi Express, is also making waves on social media.
In his video, Shoaib Akhtar, while giving a strategy to Team Pakistan, mistakenly mentioned Abhishek Bachchan’s name instead of Abhishek Sharma. He said, “If Pakistan takes Abhishek Bachchan’s wicket early on, their middle order is weak and Pakistan can make a better playing strategy.” He was corrected in the middle, as he himself didn’t even realize what he had said—it was simply a slip of tongue while analyzing the upcoming match plans. Here is the link to the video:
Abhishek Bachan replied to the slip of tongue by posting it on his X saying, “Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that! And I’m not even good at playing cricket.” He also taunted Shoaib Akhtar that Pakistani team won’t even manage to win even if they will take Abhishek Sharma’s wicket early on.
Social media users, mainly Pakistanis, are trolling Abhishek Bachchan’s post, with many saying that Shoaib Akhtar has once again made Abhishek Bachan relevant in India and Pakistan. A fan wrote, “With due respect, you’re not even good in your own field.” Another commented, “An actor with a career spanning 20 years, zero blockbusters, and only side roles is trying to get attention like this. Stick to your career, sir. Oh wait, you can’t even manage that.” One social media user taunted, “Judging by your movies, I hope you’re a better cricketer than you are an actor.” Another stated, “You wouldn’t even survive in Bollywood without Aishwarya Rai and Amitabh Bachchan. But you think you can survive on the cricket field?” Read the comments:

Heaven have mercy! We’re nearing 50 episode now! And into what seems like Season 3 or something. I have lost count of the time lapses in this serial- I’m also completely clueless about how old the actor are supposed to be! If my memory serves me right, when the drama started, Jaani was a 9 year old- when he first set eyes on the newly divorced Mehtaab who came seeking shelter in his home, Mehtaab was at least in her mid twenties if not more. Ten years elapsed and Janni was a young man of 19 smitten by the mid thirty Mehtaab… a couple more years of stupidity passed by until Mehtaab was framed for negligence and murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment (14 years). That would make Jaani around 34 and Mehtaab at least 50. Tht’s when Jaani agreed to marrying his much younger cousin Meena who was at least 7 or 8 years younger than him- making Meena around 26 when she married Jaani. So at one point, Jaani was married to a 20 something wife and took the 50 year old Mehtaab as his second wife! After Meena gave birth to his son, Jaani gifted his son to Mehtaab who was far too old to get preggers herself. Meena grew frustrated and afer the demise of her sister, convinced Jaani to set her free to marry her one true love- Ahmer and raise his 3 kids… 20 years elapsed, and at this point, Mehtaab would be 70, Jaani would be 54 and Meena would be 46… With me, so far?
Now out of nowhere, we’re reintroduced to the characters of Shaqoor Bhai ( the evil dude who framed Mehtaab) who’s now a God-fearing man and has adopted an orphan girl (Moorni – peacock? who looks not more than 16) and also adopted an ageing tawaif as a mother in the hopes of redemption for his countless sins. As they say, karma comes back to bite you when you least expect it and he finds himself framed for multiple murders he didn’t commit! Deja vu much?
Moorni manages to track the biggest hotshot lawyer in town and challenges Jahangir to take on her father’s case in exchange for working as a caretaker… seeing the chulbuli Moorni, Mehtaab ki dil mein phir ek khwaish jaag uthi hai- that Jaani should get married a third time and find marital bliss. Poor Jaani – kabhi becharey ko sahi waqt pe apni humumar biwi nahin naseeb hui! Jaani finds himself enamoured by Moorni’s badd lehaazi and Mehtaab senses his growing affection and needs. So she forgives Shaqoor Bhai and asks for his daughter’s hand in marriage for her Jaani. I mean why not? The two are such an obvious match!
At this point, I can’t help but wonder who’s responsible for keeping this drama alive? Who is funding this stupid excuse of a serial and how long before it ends?

2015 is the year, in which our Censor Board has banned quite many films. First it was Bollywood’s Baby (February 2015), then Bangistan (August 2015). Both movies were refused censor certificates for their objectionable content. In August 2015, another Bollywood film Phantom was banned by Lahore High Court.
The story not ends here, few Pakistani films are also banned. First the Central Borad for Film Censors (CBFC), refused to issue screening certificate to Swaarangi saying the film portrays Pakistan in a negative way. Ironically the same film was issues censor certificate without any cuts by the Punjab and Sindh censor boards. Swaarangi was released on 11th September 2015 in Punjab and Sindh, however it was not released in the Federal terrorities (Islambad, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu Kashmir) and the Cantonement areas in all the cities.
After Swaarangi, now another film Abdullah – The Final Witness has also been banned by Central Board for Film Censors (CBFC). The twisted “gol mol” logic stated by censor board is “the topic is controversial in the current security situation of the country”.
In response to this argument of CBFC, Hashim Nadeem the producer and director of the film has also written a letter to the CBFC. Interestingly it was the first major Pakistani film screened at Cannes Festival. However CBFC, considered it unsuitable for screening in Pakistan.

The trailer of the film was released in January 2015 while the film was expected to release in the summer of 2015. However as the subject of the film involves the role of security agencies, which is considered sensitive; the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) refused to issue the censor certificate required to screen a film in cinemas despite multiple meetings with Hashim Nadeem.
The fate of the film became uncertain until today when the distributor announced that the film is finally releasing.
