Talat Hussain is a legend who is like a walking talking academy of arts. Talat Hussain started working as a gate keeper in a cinema house due to some financial restraints when he was in high school, later on he got an opportunity in radio Pakistan and that is where his career in acting started from. Talat Hussain has worked in some very famous Pakistani films and dramas. Nowadays he keeps himself busy in teaching aspiring actors the art of acting and giving lectures in different colleges.

He was invited as a guest in Nadia Khan’s Morning Show and in this show he shared his feelings about drama industry right now. He is very disappointed with the present state of affairs. He said,

“We have picked up some really bad things from India although they were the ones who always took inspiration from our dramas but somehow now our dramas are inspired from theirs. The whole atmosphere of the media has changed, it has become a commercial thing.”

He also said that in a small country like Pakistan there was no need to have 24 hours channels. He also said that there are so many channels, on top of it the people involved are copying ideas but want ratings too. He also said,

“The biggest duty of the media is to retain cultural identity. Truth should be shown the way it is, it should not be spiced up. Are our television programs following this rule? For PTV, BBC was the role model. Now there are no role models, the only role model is money.”

Maidaan
Based on a true story of a Pakistani man who coached a team of 12 street children for the ‘Street Child World Cup’ in Brazil three years ago, Maidaan is one film Gohar has full faith in.

“Since day 1, when I heard the story, I believed in it,” said the actor. He was so inspired by the story that he went up to several film producers in hopes of finding a few takers. Unfortunately, “none of them were willing to produce it.”

“So I put my foot down and said I’ll produce it myself. I have complete faith in the story and the idea because it is about Pakistan and it lifts up the image of our country,” he explained.

His choice to play the role of the coach is Nauman Ijaz, when asked why, Gohar replied: “Who else could be a better choice? Nauman Ijaz is a versatile actor, he has a presence, he has his novelty for cinema, and after Ramchand Pakistani he will be doing this film. He is devoted, dedicated and willing to give me ample time to transform him into his character and to work on it.”

Maidaan is currently in the pre-production phase and is slated to go on floors early summer.

Mujhay Jeene Do
Following in the footsteps of Udaari, Khuda Mera Bhi Hai and Sammi, Gohar Rasheed’s Urdu1 drama is centered around the topic of child marriages.

“My character [Naseeb] is the guy who happens to get married to a child,” said Gohar.

He added that the drama unveils “how his character gets into the guilt [of marrying a child] and the repercussions he faces. It’a s journey and story which talks about the society, the unspoken truth about the society.”

“It’s a very horrific kind of a reality that we will be talking about. My character faces remorse and what happens in a child marriage, the human needs in a marriage. The discomfort, the birth… our society’s jahalat, the ugly truth about our society.”

A project of John Hopkins University, Mujhay Jeene Do is currently in the production phase and is being shot in the rural areas of Punjab.

Rangreza
A far cry from his usual roles of the antagonist, Gohar’s romantic drama Rangreza features him in a new avatar.

“My next role is going to be the most exciting one yet,” said the actor of playing Waseem in the film. “He [Waseem] is someone I think people haven’t seen me like [on-screen] yet. It’s going to be new for the people.”

Speaking about the film he said, “It’s a commercial film, a complete family entertainment project. Some really exciting and good performances from all the actors and good writing, it’s a good mix and good team, we are trying our level best to give our best product to the audience so that they are entertained and it’s [the film] paisa wasool.”

The film is based on music, which will explore the contrast between classical qawwali and modern pop music with a love story intertwined. The film also stars Urwa Hocane and Bilal Ashraf in lead roles.

Yalghaar
When asked will Yalghaar really release in 2017?

“Now finally the film is about to release this Eid ul Fitr,” confirmed the actor.

When asked about the prolonged delay, Gohar said: “The only reason is the creative process. It’s an ensemble cast; justifying all the characters, marketing, making plans… considering Pakistani cinema doesn’t have a proper infrastructure, everything is trial and error.”

The film revolves around the lives of valiant soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of eradicating terrorism. It’s based on true events of the 48-hour Peochar operation conducted in 2008.

Being typecast in the industry isn’t something most actors wish for, surprisingly, it doesn’t feel like a career-threat to him.

“The roles I do are risky and unconventional, not many actors can do them.” he said.

“Playing the antagonist is not easy, heroes are very simple, there’s not much to do [in those roles] as an actor — all the work the antagonist has to do. I’m comfortable taking risks so if any character is risky and demanding whether it’s [the role of an] antagonist or protagonist I don’t mind doing it.”

And it reflects on his script selection, because neither TV ratings or box office collections bother him, he trusts his intuition. “It comes from the gut. When my gut says it, I’ll go with it.”

“Mera koi criteria nahi hai (I don’t have a criteria) that it [the role] should be a certain way. I read about the character and if I feel I should do it it should be fun, then I take it up, regardless of the result.”

A celebrated actor, model and singer in Pakistan, Fawad Khan made an instant impact on the audiences with his role in Humsafar and has been ruling hearts since then. Every time Fawad Khan speaks, he leaves us swooning over him sine he’s really very charming. In a recent interview with Images, he revealed a lot about himself and it’s never enough to more about him.

Images: What’s the most important thing in your life right now?

Fawad Khan: The most important thing to me right now is my daughter. We’ve just had a baby and she takes up most of my time, and I’m finally getting to spend quality time with my family.

Images: A lot of people, especially young people and fans across the border, think you’ve become a big star over the past three years when actually you’ve been in the public eye for over a decade. How has ‘being famous’ changed in that time and how has your response to it changed… or not?

FK: With social media I think it becomes a little more intrusive. People have more access to you. It’s obviously very flattering, all the love and affection that you get, and then there’s also the downside of it, sometimes things don’t go your way. But in light of freedom of speech, people can say whatever they want, they can hold whatever opinions they want and I think I’ve taken it in my stride. But getting in your face can be a bit problematic.

I feel being on a public platform and especially in this day and age with smartphone culture, I myself having had endorsed the selfie – the ‘grandfie’ [laughs] – I can’t argue about it much. I wouldn’t say I enjoy it, but if someone wants a picture, that’s fine. Yes, it can get a bit out of hand like if you go to the gym and someone says ‘yaar yahan pe bhi kechnee hai’, and keep pressing. But then I feel… how far will it go, will they get into the shower and take pictures with you as well? That can be problematic, otherwise I think its fine, I’ve not experienced anything obscene as yet, they respect me and I respect them.

Images: In previous interviews you’ve mentioned that you went through a ‘dark phase’ in your younger days. Your friends have described you as ‘resilient’ because you managed to move past those times to become who you are now. Could you elaborate?

FK: Well, I could be wrong since I feel there is no ‘objective truth’ and everything is subjective – but the way I look at things is that when you’re younger, you have too many expectations from life. I think there comes a time when you start dropping expectations. Because the world doesn’t owe you anything, and you don’t owe the world anything in return. Things, feelings, are a very simple transaction. If you get it, be grateful. If you don’t, be alright with it.

When I was younger I’d be like, I also want to make some money, I want a slice of the pie. So those could be the dark times. And yes, health was one thing that used to bother me. And that’s still something that’s with me, but I take it in my stride.

Interestingly, yesterday I was having a conversation with my wife and I was just appreciating, or maybe I was just in a very emotional moment, that had I not experienced the downs in life I wouldn’t be able to appreciate the ups, and my life would have plateaued. And when life plateaus, it becomes suicidal. You need to have a reality check from time and time again.

So whatever that dark period was, I’m glad for it. Yeah, I’ve been penniless. I’ve had to struggle a bit. But now I enjoy thinking about that because it just makes me feel better about my achievements.

Images: There’s been some talk in the local industry about how you’ve become ‘inaccessible’ or ‘aloof’ of late. You said you don’t really enjoy being in the public eye, but when I spoke to one of your longtime colleagues, he said your reserve was a ‘smart move’ because in today’s world it’s easy to overexpose yourself. So I’m wondering if this is just your personality or—

FK: Or whether it’s part of my strategy?

Images: Yeah.

FK: Well, I think both. I’d rather speak less because I don’t consider myself a very intelligent person. So I think rather than being a victim of ‘foot-in-mouth’ disease one should refrain from talking as much as possible. I do tend to ramble and I can ramble with my friends and be expressive. But I feel – and this goes back to social media and freedom of speech – when you’re on a public platform and you put something out there in front of people who don’t know you, they might just perceive it in a very different way altogether.

Some people may say it’s wrong and that you should stand up for what’s right, but my argument is: it’s all so grey, how can you say what’s right or wrong? You stand up for one thing and there will always be someone who’s an opponent of that idea.

I’m not a person for confrontation. You may call me a coward, but I just don’t like confrontation. I don’t like upsetting people or getting upset myself. I don’t think I’m unfriendly, but it’s got to do with me being timid and having a serious case of stage fright. It’s not so much about being an introvert as it is about being slightly reserved about my opinions. I like to keep things that way.

But just last year or so, I started hosting parties for people and I found it to just be such a wonderful experience. It’s so much fun to watch people mingle in a dignified fashion yet still have so much fun. I’d love to get to know people, but I don’t want there to be a context to it. I don’t want there to be some outcome expected from it, because again, I’m not a man of expectations.

Images: What about an artist’s responsibility to speak about matters that might be of the public interest, whether it’s politics or human rights or something else? Or do you feel an artist should feel no such compulsion?

FK: The motto of my life is ‘the best advice is no advice at all.’ Yes, there’s a lot of sadness and grief in the world. But my belief is if one wants to take a stand on something, one must be very educated about it.

We live in a Wikipedia generation, it’s a very sad fact that people are not well-versed in subjects and tend to get into heated arguments without knowing the context of things. I’ve been a victim of that myself. If I’m going to talk about something, I need to be educated about it and I need to have seen all the perspectives.

Images: But in Kapoor & Sons, for example, you played a character who was in the closet. It was a pretty progressive film. So in some way or the other, through your acting, you are taking a stand on certain issues. Right?

FK: Not consciously, no. When you start labeling intentions to things, they become very… materialistic, and in a way, selfish. If I get into something I get into it for the pure joy of it.

Images: Speaking of acting – I’d like to talk about your co-stars in India. You seem like you’re genuinely good friends with them. How have these friendships been affected by the ban against Pakistani artists in India?

FK: I’m still in touch with a lot of my friends there. Nothing’s really changed. Obviously, I’m not a man of steel in that people’s words don’t affect me. They might hurt me. But I am becoming immune to it as time goes by. I have no expectations from them, and that’s what I think has developed this camaraderie. Even if I don’t work with them ever again, I’ll still always have love and regard for them, and I assume that’s how they feel as well. That’s why we’re still in touch. We even make plans to meet, to catch-up.

Images: What do you think you gained as an actor from your work in Bollywood?

FK: Thing is, in Bollywood they’ve got their systems in place. It’s a monster machine that’s churning out like 400 films a year, consistently. They’re able to efficiently process things.

For example, when I was on the set of Khoobsurat there would be a team of auditors who’d be analyzing the cost of each day. Seeing it practically kind of reinforces your belief that planning is very important. There are a few producers who are doing that here and it’s encouraging to see that. But other than that, if you talk about acting, I think I’ve learned as much there as I have here [Pakistan].

Images: About Pakistan — you mentioned previously that you weren’t interested in TV as a medium anymore. Would you ever go back to TV?

FK: Well that probably has to do with content. We’re actually in the process of engineering something. I can’t talk too much about it, and it might not work but there’s something that might just usher my return to television.

Images: People I’ve spoken to have said you’re successful largely because you’re extremely strategic about the roles you choose. You’ve got a two major projects coming up in Pakistan, Bilal Lashari’s film and Albela Rahi. How did you pick these projects, and how do you choose a role generally?

FK: Well I think popstar Alamgir’s life [which is what Albela Rahi is about] is just very interesting. I feel some of the greatest content comes out of bio pics, out of the lives of real people. For those who know about Alamgir’s life, well, he’s had a very dramatic life.

I’ve not stepped into the shoes of a real life character in my earlier work. But yes, I’ve tried to – or maybe it’s just happened – that the work I’ve done has been different from what I’d done previously.

Like I started off as Sarmad in Khuda Kay Liye, and then doing a partition play like Dastaan. And actually people romanticise that play as a story of partition when actually it’s got a very horrific ending, about people who aspire to do something great in life and where they ended up. It’s less about patriotism and more about the personal journey of a man who loses everything, almost. And then I did a village oaf role in Akbari Asghari… so I’ve been fortunate to have those kinds of roles.

You know, I’ve always felt I’d be better behind the camera than an object in front of the camera. Who knows, I might fall short of my claims. But I do think I have an eye for roles. I depend on my team to help me pick my roles, and by that I mean my managers, my wife… we throw ideas across the table and talk about the pros and cons.

We’ve been offered many scripts, but we do one out of all of them at any given time. There are actors out there who are so talented they can jump between three sets in a day but I’m not that talented. I’d rather do one thing and give it 200 percent.

Images: If you could pick on one thing (or several) that was the biggest problem in the Pakistani entertainment scene… what would that be?

FK: That’s not ground I want to tread on. That’s very thin ice and I’m standing on that ice as well. I don’t want to fix things for anyone else. I can fix things for myself but I can’t make tall claims, at least not in an interview.

Images: Don’t you think it’s the responsibility of leading actors, especially those who’ve worked in Bollywood, to help us raise our own standards?

FK: Kehne aur karne mein bohat farq hai (there’s a huge difference between saying something and actually doing it) [laughs]. Today I’ll say something and people will start telling me I have nakhras (demands)!

Images: But people already say that!

FK: That’s what I’m saying [laughs]!

We could use more diverse content. I used to feel that – and by the way, please state that this is my opinion and not a fact – like, when you’re a budding actor, you want to give every expression you know to a project. Or if you’re a writer, you want to write everything [in one script] because you’ve got some nice jokes, some quips… but I think… save it. Space it out.

I also think we could do more work set in rural Pakistan. That’s us, there’s nothing paindu about us. We should own our culture.

If we talk about writers – when people say, because the audience likes a certain kind of cinema, let’s do that kind of cinema — well I feel that’s the wrong argument.

Images: What are you watching these days?

FK: Well these past few days I’ve been watching Richard Pryor and George Carlin. I’ve been watching the ‘Richard Pryor Show’ for NBC made during the 70s. I’m a big fan of his work. I’ve been watching Andy Kaufman as well.

Images: And what about Pakistani cinema?

FK: I’ll be very honest, I’ve not seen much work. A big reason is that no one lets me watch films or TV in peace [laughs]. The last film I saw was Jawani Phir Nahi Ani. My lovely friends are in it. I’ve heard rave reviews for Manto and Moor. I’d like to see them.

Images: Now that acting in India is off the table, at least for the near future – what avenues outside Pakistan are you exploring?

FK: Wherever the wind blows me, I’ll go! My eventual goal is to have enough experience to produce something on my own.

Images: A friend of yours told me what motivates you most now is your family. Do you agree?

FK: Yeah. They are the pillars, my cornerstones. They hold me up. My kids are the light of my life. I aspire to be a better family man, and now that I have more time, I’m learning the ropes again.

Our Drama Industry completely failed to satisfy its viewers in terms of great story lines but Pakistani Film Industry is seemed to be flourishing this fall.

Sharmeen Obaid’s Saving Face has been awarded two Emmy Awards at 34th Annual News and Documentary Ammy Awards Ceremony. This documentary won awards for Best Documentary and Outstanding Editing, Zinda Bhaag is another investment that got submitted from Pakistan in Oscars after 50 years, Waar broke all Box Office Records and if it is not enough, Ayesha Gazdar’s short documentary “The Honor deception” won the Jury award for Best Documentary at Second Delhi Shorts International Films Festival.

She earlier told The Express Tribune, “I feel honoured that this film is being screened, amongst a host of others.”

  The Honor Deception was screened at Delhi Film Festival on October 12th,2013 where 80 films (feature and documentary) were showcased from countries around the world including, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Belgium, New Zealand and India.

The Honor Deception is 16 minutes documentary that has been made in collaboration with Action Aid Pakistan. Documentary is about the tribal customs of honor killing and how it got re-demolished in our Modern lives through law of Qisas and Diyat (retribution and Blood Money) that allows the family of a victim to make a strong compromise with the one accused. As majority of marriages in rural areas of Pakistan take place within extended family, so these laws are a fine way to escape. This documentary also put a light on how can we made an effort to put a full stop to this practice.

Ayesha’s previous file “Silent Voices” was based on women who work from home. That movie also won an award at the Canadian Labor International Film Festival in 2011.

For all those who dont know Aisha’s background, Let me tell you that her father, (Late) Mushtaq Gazdar, was an eminent documentary film maker. Her mother, Saeeda Gazdar is well know short story writer.

I expect and hope that our Media Industries will flourish in heaps and bounds.

Teefa in Trouble is another Pakistani movie that is going to hit the cinemas with much fanfare. The Teefa team has already pulled up a lot of stunts to make this movie already popular among the masses. But, we definitely know that it is going to sky-rocket to fame, no matter what the story is. Obviously, Ali Zafar and Maya Ali, who is gonna ignore that?

Now, director of the movie Ahsan Rahim has promised people that his upcoming flick will in no matter disappoint people. He said that extremely dangerous and death defying stunts were performed by Ali Zafar himself to give the movie more realistic touch. This clearly shows the dedication of the cast towards the movie.

Ahsan Rahim further revealed that the complete shooting of the movie has already been wrapped up in Europe. He once again confirmed the complete cast including; Javed Sheikh, Maya Ali, Ali Zafar, Mahnoor Haider, Fia Khan, Faisal Qureshi and several others.

Previously, Ali Zafar has dubbed the movie as comedy and romance filled, while Maya said that her experience working for the very first time in the movie was a best one. The latter further went on to thank Ahsan Rahim for giving her the opportunity to act in the movie alongside providing every chance to be herself.

Though the shooting of Teefa in Trouble has been wrapped up, post-production is yet to be done. The tentative release date expects the movie be launched December this year.

Mahira Khan, Pakistan’s favorite diva is always loved by the audience. The actress who recently made her Bollywood debut with Raees. She vowed on Sunday to use her platform to encourage people and transform lives just as her teachers shaped hers.

In a moving tribute to her teachers while addressing the Global Teacher Prize ceremony in Dubai, Mahira said:

“Teachers have the power to make a shy little girl like me believe in her dreams, so yes, teachers do matter.”

“We walk on red carpets, we get to support the causes close to our hearts. People like us, I talk about sportsmen, actors. We do all kinds of things and people around the world celebrate our success but the world’s teachers, the very people who shape the next generation aren’t thanked enough. You [teachers] are the true stars,” she said.

From what we gather from the promos, it looks as if Ayeza Khan has cheated on her husband Sami Khan by getting involved with Zahid Ahmed and the betrayed husband then decides to take revenge and Mansha Pasha seems to be the beneficiary of this marital conflict.. But let’s not jump to conclusions and wait for the drama to air to clarify how black and how white these characters are on reel.

“Tanaa Banaa” is one of the most anticipated upcoming dramas of HUM TV. It is a light-hearted romantic comedy, starring Danyal Zafar and Alizeh Shah in the leading roles. Danyal Zafar will be making his television debut with this drama.

The drama is produced under the banner of MD Productions and it is directed by Safe Hassan. Stop making issue out of nothing!!!! Stop this nonsense stop hatred.”

Juggun Kazim has always been very open about her past experiences with people and about her abusive marriage which ended in a divorce. Recently she got married again and was blessed with another son.

Sarmad Khoosat doesn’t cease to amaze me – we all know that he can act and direct, flawlessly, may I add, but listen to this: he can cook, too! Our favourite director will be seen on Urdu1 with his own production, ”Star Iftar”. This show will air from the first of Ramadan, everyday at 6:00 pm.

Talking to Dawn Images, Sarmad Khoosat revealed, “I am cooking and chatting with celebrity friends; it’s a recorded show. It’s the first production of my recently launched company, Khoosat Films and my sister, Kanwal Khoosat is directing it.”

We will be seeing many celebrities including Mahira Khan, Maya Ali, Junaid Khan, Reema, Mawra Hocane, Amina Sheikh. I don’t know about you, but I am excited!

Sarmad Khoosat also added, “All I can say is that I am not competing with anyone, at least not the grand, big shows. Mine is a small, cozy and personal show.”

Actress Noor has made a major shift from films to television after her comeback in the entertainment industry. While talking to Nida Yasir on her show she shared that the actresses in the film industry always gave a very tough time to new actresses and that is exactly what happened with her too. “Many actresses could not survive due to this behaviour of old actresses but somehow I survived because I had the support of my parents which gave me strength,” said the actresses who is now busy hosting a Morning Show.

“One thing I have learned in life is that nothing is permanent. That is the lesson I learned especially after my father passed away. I thought to myself if I can survive this I can survive everything. I always used to think I was weak but after my father’s death I realized how strong I was,” revealed Noor. She also said that she was single-handedly taking care of her mother, her sister and her daughter.

Noor said that she love cleanliness and she really likes taking care of her house. She also said, “Sometimes I want to leave this country and go somewhere where no one knows me. Sometimes you get tired of the hypocrisy in our industry, people are never what they appear to be. These things hurt me and I feel like running away.”

Noor said that the best moment of her life was when he first film was released because ever since she was young she wanted to be a film heroine.

This Sharmeen Obaid Vs AKUH doctor fiasco needs no previous context anymore, everyone knows when and how everything went down.

Sharmeen shared a note on her twitter earlier today to justify her stance and her previous tweets. It is a general agreement that what the doctor did was unethical and unprofessional and can’t be justified as “alright” under any circumstances but the way Sharmeen Obaid handled the situation and especially her choice of words blew the whole thing out of proportion.

While Celebrities like Ushna Shah and Mahira Khan supported her stance Hamza Ali Abbasi and Haroon Shahid disagreed, this lead to a massive media debate and still is catching more fire.

In her recent tweet Sharmeen had the following to say,

Firstly Sharmeen agreed that her choice of words was rather poor and has lead people astray from the matter at hand, she further explained that her “wrong women in the wrong family” expression didn’t stem out of some wrongly placed sense of power or privileged-ness she merely meant that women in her family are strong and can stand for themselves.

She went on to add that the examination that AKUH doctor conducted was of rather private nature after which he not only sent her sister a friend request but also commented on some of her pictures. It is a breach of trust and shows severe lack of professional code of conduct. She stated that all she did was voice her concerns whether that doctor stays at the hospital or leaves will be decided by AKUH’s own investigation team and she doesn’t have anything to do with that.

So far the AKUH administration has given no updates on the development.

“The AKUH always maintains the highest standards of confidentiality and will not release any information on either employees or patients.”

Aamir Liaquat sang praises of Shaista saying that he respected her because she was a very strong woman. He said,

How did you react to the response your show got in India?
It was amazing. I recently joined Twitter and have experienced craziness since. Yesterday, I was at a mall and people kept coming up to meet me. It has been quite humbling.

Have you watched any Indian serials?
In school, I saw Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (KSBKBT), but I haven’t seen any other shows. Kudos to the actors who were part of that show, as it (KSBKBT) went on forever. I freak out even when I get a drama with 29 episodes; I feel the story gets too long.

What do you think of Bollywood films?
They are far more advanced, while our film industry is still re-emerging right now. I loved the black-and-white movies of the ’50s and ’60s, including films like Guru Dutt’s Pyaasa (1957) and Dilip Kumar’s Tarana (1951). Shah Rukh Khan’s movies are my favourite. As a teenager, I watched Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995) during breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was obsessed with it.

Are you interested in working in Bollywood?
I would love to. There were some rumours about a film with Ranveer Singh, but they were untrue. Right now, I am not working on any Hindi film.

Does your marital status affect the kind of work you get?
Not in Pakistan. You tend to take up lesser work as you give more time to your personal life once you have a family. I’m lucky to be offered good work, and I maintain a balance between my work and personal life. Our industry has a family-friendly environment. Cinema is still considered an art in Pakistan and not a business.

There are very few actors in our industry who have emerged as script writers too. Vasay Chaudhry is one of those very few actors who have not just written scripts but who are responsible for giving us some very hit serials which were not only popular but also different from all the other dramas viewers get to see on television nowadays. While talking MAG Weekly about his decision to start scrip writing Vasay said, “I didn’t go for writing per se; I came into this field to become an actor but sadly, I realised very soon that it’s all about the ‘script’. I use the word ‘sadly’ because script writing is the toughest job of all. In theatre, television or film, you are only as good as your script and I have learnt that by reading Mushtaq Ahmed Yusufi and Anwar Maqsood sahib. So if you can produce a good script, acting becomes the easier part.”

Vasay thinks that acting is much easier if the actor is working on a project which has a strong script. Talking about how he came up with the script of his upcoming film Jawani Phir Nahi Aani Vasay said, “The idea came to me long before I was hired by Humayun Saeed to write Main Hoon Shahid Afridi in 2011. During its filming, Abhi Tu Main Jawan Hoon happened and thankfully, the telefilm was shown on the big screen as part of some festival by Geo TV. It was liked by all and I was given a go-ahead by Humayun Saeed to complete the script of JPNA. I wrote the entire script in 13 months and hope the film ends up engaging you as much as it did the producer and director while working together to make a family entertainer for our audiences.”

Vasay Chaudhry also shared that Nauman Ijaz and Saba Hameed were his favorite actors from Pakistani drama industry. When asked if he would like to work in India, he said, “Why India? [Smiles] Yes, I want to see the Taj Mahal!” Vasay Chaudhry wants to do a lot of good work in the future too.

Bushra Ansari has been seen in a lot of talk shows and what people love the most about her is that she is very blunt about whatever she feels. Bushra Ansari always compares the time when she started her career and the way things are nowadays in the showbiz industry whenever she is talking as a host or as a guest.

Bushra Ansari was invited to Nadia Khan’s Show in which she talked about many things like why she left hosting Geo’s Morning Show and how she enjoyed working even now. While playing a game in which she was shown the pictures of different celebrities and she was asked to say something about them she said something that may come as a surprise to many about Sahir Lodhi. Bushra Ansari did not recognize Sahir Lodhi at first but when she did, she knew exactly how she felt about him.

“Today I am going to give a statement about Sahir Lodhi which has always been in my heart. People say he is like Shah Rukh Khan and all those things, okay that is fine. The truth is that he is immensely talented. But it is also a fact that no one has ever groomed him. He is very strong intellectually too. He knows how to covey his message in an impressive manner. He talks very logically, he is not a duffer. He is an intelligent man who needs the right kind of guidance just like all the newbie artists nowadays.”

Bushra Ansari also said that when she started her career she was very lucky to have some superb mentors. Sahir Lodhi would have been much more successful if her got proper guidance when he started his career.

Everyone knows that Sabreen Hisbani and Sanam Baloch are sisters but a lot of people don’t know who started working in the entertainment industry first. While talking to Yasir Hussein on his show, Sanam Baloch shared a few interesting details about how she entered into showbiz and what it feels like to have a sister who is also a celebrity.

She said,

“Sabreen is the reason why I started getting roles in dramas. The producers used to cast me because I was Sabreen’s sister and they thought that Sabreen’s sister must be a good actress and must be committed. That’s how I got work in the beginning.”

Sanam Baloch also talked about the way their family members criticized them. She also said that sometimes the criticism is unbearable. She also said,

“My family members at times praise me more than Sabreen but I feel I have no competition with her, she is a far better actress than me!”

After Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s demise in 1997, his wife Naheed and his only child, a daughter Nida moved to Canada and never came back. Most of the world had forgotten about the two, however 20 years later, Nida came to Lahore and held a press conference.

At the press conference, Nida told media that she would be taking action against everyone who has used her father’s music without permission as she owns the rights. Rahat responded to Nida’s statements stating that he was the successor after Nusrat, which is why he doesn’t need to ask anyone for permission

In a recent interview Nida stated,

“I have decided to fight a legal war against those who are misusing his music and making profit without giving him due credit.”

She further added,

“After my mother’s passing, I kept working to save my father’s music. Now, I have a few targets that I need to achieve. Everyone, including Rahat, who tried to benefit from my father’s music, will be held accountable. I am determined to fight this battle alone.”

She added that she will help them produce albums using the legendary singer’s unreleased tunes.

To conclude, Nida shared,

 “I’ve passionately returned back to Pakistan to keep his name alive and promote his music. I want to tell everyone that this is just the beginning and I have a long way to go.”

Seems like we will have to wait for Umera Ahmed’s “Amar Bail” as according to the latest update, the idea of remaking the drama has been delayed. It was only few hours back that we shared a news that was circulating on the social media and Drama forums that Umera Ahmed’ popular novel “Amar Bail” will be coming up somewhere this year with Fawad Khan and Nida Khan in the roles of Umar and Alizay. The news, which already shook half of the fans further added new levels of excitement and the social media was all loaded with gossips. While few fans discussed how the first picturization of the drama disappointed Umera Ahmed’s fans, other too kept themselves busy in criticizing Nida’s selection for the role.

As stated in the original piece of information, the relevancy of the news was quite in danger and the fears have turned into a reality as Umera Ahmed’s  Official Page has confirmed that currently no  such project is been done. It is true that “Amar Bail” would soon be reproduced but the idea has been delayed for some time.

Moreover, the spokesman of the page mentioned that they haven’t decided the casts yet and for the stated cast in the rumor, Fawad and Nida are not even considered!

Been directed by Hasan Zaidi, the show is expected to grab a good audience due to the fact that there are people within Pakistan who love to know everything about United States. The show will start from April 27^th, that is, Saturday at 6:30 pm.

Film and TV actor Ali Kazmi, who appeared in Mehreen Jabbar’s Dobara Phir Se last year, has a lot going on. The actor who is currently playing a pivotal role in ongoing drama serial Moray Saiyaan, is all set to appear in Qandeel Baloch’s biopic called ‘Baaghi’. He’s currently busy shooting for the biopic that features Saba Qamar as Qandeel Baloch (who will soon be making her Bollywood debut with Hindi Medium alongside Irrfan Khan) opposite him. Speaking to Instep Ali Kazmi shared his thoughts about honour killing and the biopic.

“We have no right to be a judge, jury or executioner for anyone,” Kazmi told Instep. “Qandeel Baloch was a troubled individual who made some very questionable choices and videos but she did not deserve to die like the many other women that have been killed under the guise of ‘honor killing’. It is a dishonorable choice of an archaic custom and in no way it is part of our religious beliefs or our culture/traditions. In the cyber world we live in today, it’s quite easy and we are all quick to judge people by their photos or their videos and create a profile in our heads. But the truth is we truly don’t know their story or what they have been through to get where they are at that point in life.”

“I am proud to be a part of Baaghi,” Kazmi shared. “It addresses issues like literacy, women’s rights, honor killing, multiple marriages and abuse. Like our lives have many different aspects that define it, Baaghi will take you up, down and round like a roller coaster. The play isn’t one dimensional. I hope it turns out to be a meaningful piece with the right amount of drama and a message that people will be able to hold onto in their hearts and minds,” he concluded.

Talking to a newspaper Reema said that she is not conscious about her age at all, that is why she hasn’t ruined her face with plastic surgeries like the other actresses. She said that she has always tried her best to make her own future without relying on other people. She also said that many actresses got plastic surgery because they want to look like Angelina Jolie.

Reema said that she is working on a new project, the paperwork is under way. She said that she really wants to interview Sheikh Rasheed, that way she will also find out why he smiles every time when Reema’s name is mentioned.

Reema also said that ever since she has started reading books there has come a good change in her life.

Daniyal Raheal is one of those actors who do very selected projects but he is also one of those people who make their mark whenever they are part of a drama. Some people may not know that Daniyal Raheal is the brother and son of celebrities. He is Mehreen Raheal’s brother and Seemi Raheal’s son. Although he was born in a family associated with the drama industry but he never really wanted to be an actor himself. Daniyal was recently seen in drama serial Dua and now viewers are enjoying watching him in Mana Ka Gharana.

Talking to MAG Weekly about how he took fame and being an actor he said,

“Initially I wanted to do something different from my family, I didn’t want to fall into the same line of work but by default it just happened. Fame is something different for me because I have grown up on sets, I have grown up with actors being approached by people, so I perceived fame very differently and it was just a by-product of the line of work my mother was in, so it didn’t entice me and even to this day, I’m very reserved publicly in how I project myself as an actor.”

Danial Raheal is the proud of the fact that he has played many different kinds of characters in dramas and he promises that viewers will see a lot more from him in the future too. He said,

“So far I have done a grey role in Dua, I have already done a really simple character in Silvatein, then I have one coming up in which I play a young, hip and cool character. Apart from this, you will also see me as a psychotic insane younger brother, where I’m setting my brother’s room on fire and stealing his wife.”

Just like all the other actors nowadays Daniyal is also tired of the kind of scripts which drama writers and production houses are relying on. Talking about that he said,

“Production houses are basing scripts on focused groups, households which are surveyed to check ratings and to find out what kind of dramas people like, which I think, is ridiculous as it curtails your creativity down to the 10 per cent of the people and because of that they end up making the same dramas again and again.”

He also talked about how this trend can be changed. He said,

“There are a handful of people who can write and they are the ones who are persistently writing, making the scripts somewhat conventional. If we get new people onboard, such as students from NCA, then I think there will be a massive change in the narrative.”

Daniya also said that the working hours for actors are crazy, there is no proper time for the shootings and sometimes they go on for long hours therefore he said,

“The thing is if you are spending so much time focusing on work, you don’t get much time to do certain things that are essential for you to be an actor, like rest, sleep and hit the gym. These things need to be managed by an actor and you have to fight for them when you shouldn’t have to.”

Daniyal Raheal biggest wish is to work in another film with the director Jami, who is very well known for his craft and creativity.

Veena Malik has been staying away from the world of showbiz eversince she got married. In an interview Veena Malik and her husband Asad Bashir made it very clear that there was no pressure from Veena’s In laws to leave her career but she chose to give her family more time. After the court order against Veena Malik and her husband the couple does not have much of a choice then to stay away from Pakistan. Currently the couple is residing in Dubai.
