Other than that, the show gets on the top trending list in Ramzan as families feel fresh after having delicious Iftar and laugh hard watching people playing funny games to win gifts.

Due to coronavirus, all the shooting projects have been postponed because it requires a large number of people in a team to handle everything on the set. Five different teams are competing against each other, five captains are supporting their respective teams.

Every day different Pakistani celebrities appear as guests on the show and support the teams. Today, two gorgeous ladies of showbiz, Sanam Jung and Ushna Shah were the special guests on Jeeto Pakistan League Ramzan Special. Sanam supported Adnan Siddiqui and Ushna was on Sarfaraz’s side.

Sanam Jung and Shaista Lodhi Make Fun of Morning Shows

0

Shaista Lodhi and Sanam Jung both have hosted morning shows but after doing so for many years, they have finally decided to move in a different direction. Currently, Sanam Jung is focusing more on acting and Shaista Lodhi is hosting her on show on YouTube. Shaista Lodhi keeps on inviting different celebrities both old and new to her show and the show is usually insightful as well as entertaining.

Gupshup with Shaista

Shaista Lodhi invited Sanam Jung to her show and that’s when they started talking about morning shows. While they discussed the ‘challenges’ and the ‘pressures’, they also made fun of how they were asked to do things which made very little sense but got the required ratings. They mocked the content of the morning shows they had hosted and also mentioned how all the people running these shows had the same mentality.

Sanam Jung

They also talked about how they were ask to copy each others ideas. Both of them shared that whenever someone’s show was a hit, they were asked to copy it.

Shaista Lodhi 2 1

Morning shows have come under criticism a lot especially in the last few years because of the content they cover. It was therefore interesting to see what Sanam Jung and Shaista Lodhi had to reveal about how these morning shows work. It is after all, all about the ratings and not about quality. Sanam Jung and Shaista Lodhi’s conversation shows how most of the time it was not easy for them to do shows on the most silly topics which did not require so much screen time. These two hosts also made fun of the ridiculous expectations of the people running these shows but also shared that they had no choice but to do exactly what they were asked to do.

She often takes to her Instagram to share a picture or two with her daughter and these mommy daughter moments are heart meltingly adorable. Sanam recently took to her Instagram and posted,

Sanam Episode 21 Review – Mann Mayal 2!

OMG! It is absolutely pathetic how the director had so many chances to end this drama decently but he chose not to because he was hell bent on turning Sanam into Mann Mayal 2 & this episode pretty much sealed the deal. Now everyone should buckle up & get ready to see 10 or probably 12 meaningless episodes of Sanam because it looks like Haseeb Hassan thinks he can not end a drama before 33 episodes. No wonder why 13 & 33 are considered to be jinxed numbers, Haseeb Hassan has made my belief firm on these numbers too now! Absolute Shame!

The moment I saw Aila’s mother out of nowhere, I knew I was in for a Mann Mayal 2 ride because even in Mann Mayal, Mannu’s parents made an appearance as the director deemed fit. After leaving their mad daughter on her own for like 12+ episodes & allowing her to commit all sorts of atrocities, Aila’s mother grew overly concerned for her & she thought just by saying ‘mai kitni dafa ai milne, kitni calls kin’, she will convince the viewers that she is a very good, very concerned mother who wasn’t MIA & was doing her job properly. Duh!!!

Even though it is amusing that Shabnam’s death was used as a plot twister, it made me happy because I then got to watch a 40 minute episode in 20 minutes because I knew Maya’s crying & caterwauling will give me cramps so I didn’t take a chance & forwarded her mourning. Oh, if I am not wrong, Shabnam told Harib ‘Bitto ka khayal rakhna’ before she took a flight off to another world but in the preview of the next episode, looks like Harib will be taking care of Bitto a bit too well lol!

Just when I was happy & expecting that this drama is about to end & I won’t have to deal with that weird & bizarre Qasab family, the director decided to rub them on our faces. Like is there even a SINGLE thing that has it going for this drama? Is there a SINGLE thing that is working in Sanam? The answer is a clear cut no. Another chance that the director got to finish this crap off was with when Taya asked Aan if she liked someone & wanted to get married to him, but like a sore loser, Aan said NO. Sorry, I am done with Aan’s meesni saadgi, why did she choose to say no when all she did in the last few episodes was hug Harib every chance she got & confessed her love to him? Abb itni sharam aur haya aur saadgi kahan se aa gai & most importantly KYUN? Oh, I know, because the director is profit hungry & seems like he was unable to reach a profit figure till 20th episode that he had in his mind, so he decided to drag the drama a bit further to make some more money!

The preview of the next episode is giving me anxiety already. Aan is going to play hide & seek with Harib but while she’ll be at it, Harib being a spineless loser that he is will now scurry to Aila saying he needs to give her some support for her madness. After literally treating Aila & her psychological disorder as an after thought in the first 21 episodes, the director & the writer have all of a sudden started showing signs of humanity LOL! I think this was writer’s way of telling to the world that she is not as insensitive as the first 21 episodes made her look like, so she is trying to do some redemption in the name of dragging the drama so that her husband brings in more bucks as well, like this is her way of assisting her husband’s hunger. It is ridiculous how the viewers put so much faith in Haseeb Hassan but I believe he just got lucky with Farhat Ishtiyaq’s amazing script, whereas his caliber is that of Aahista Aahista, Mann Mayal & now Sanam, like he has proved himself enough that he is also one of those rating monger directors who do not care a dime about what the viewers want, which is basically a story with some meaning & some purpose. I really hope & pray that the next drama of Haseeb Hassan turns out to be a bigger flop to serve as a reality check to him because he can not sell crap to the viewers again & again & again. Shame on Mr. & Mrs. Haseeb once again!

Sanam Episode 20 Review – Hum (Viewers) Itne Seedhay Kyun Hain!

Just when the team of this drama had a good opportunity to put an end to everything by showing that Harib saved the day & got married to Aan, the promo of the next episode gave me a panic attack because looks like the hunger for ratings & money didn’t allow Haseeb Hassan to stop & he is going to continue with the torturous drama for may be another 10 or more episodes? How shallow is that & how bizarre too. It is absolutely ridiculous how greed can make a very sane person commit such weird blunders, first Mann Mayal & then Sanam? LOL!

It is funny how you absolutely feel nothing for any character because the predicament that they are facing is a result of their own patheticness & stupidity. I felt zero sympathy for Sara because karma came to bite her back but then again, Sara was a result of writer’s weird imagination where she thought that a married woman even after having a kid can still be in love with her ex-boyfriend. Usually I apologize in advance when I use such words for writers or directors but I think the amount of dhitai Mr. & Mrs. Haseeb have shown, I am not going to be apologetic about anything that I am going to say. Sara’s character is a result of Mona Haseeb’s SICK imagination. It is ridiculous how everyone has lost the plot just because the writer & the director were bent on generating ratings & had no concern with making a drama that provides entertainment for the viewers. The episodes have become absolutely slow & boring & the purpose of the drama (which didn’t have much purpose anyways) is lost!

Faisal blamed Harib for not being able to have a normal relationship with Sara but then again, Sara left Harib for everything that Faisal had, so why was she unhappy with him? To be honest, I wasn’t in a mood to see a happy reunion of Sara & Faisal because it wouldn’t have made sense but yes, it is good to know that Fatima will now live with her father, away from a mother like Sara who I repeat, is a result of writer’s sick imagination because honestly, no matter how shallow or selfish a woman is, she changes completely when she becomes a mother but if only the writer had a ounce of decency left in her, she would have understood!

Aan Dulhan se ziyada sona to Amman ne charhaya hua tha. Anyways, Shabnam kept on waiting for the Baraat, only to know ke unki apni baraat next episode mai rukhsat ho jayegi. I can’t imagine the prowess the director & the writer have where they can turn a favorite character into a nightmare. I remember the episodes when I used to enjoy Shabnam’s scenes so much & she was my favorite character out of this bipolar lot because she seemed like a true mother to me, but the way her character has been turned into a nightmare is sickening. I so wanted to feel bad for her & what she was going through but I couldn’t because to be honest, she invited this herself. Shabnam, despite seeing how Aan wasn’t happy about this entire situation kept on pushing her luck & she didn’t sit still till she got a heart attack, so let me ask my patent question in Punjabi ‘hun araam ee’?!? Weird!!!

Once again, Harib & his constipated bechargi on his face. ‘Aik dafa Amaan theek ho jayein dekhna mai un logon ka kya hashar karoonga’…alay lay lay lay, tum bas anday parathay khao, itni bali bali batain kaltay hue tum achay nai lagtayyy!!! I am sure anday parathay khatay khatay muh mai ulcers ho gaye honge isi liye Harib muh mai dahi jama ke beth gaya takay thandak bhi mile aur sachai bhi na batani pare. Like what was he waiting for? Like what majboori did he have? Like Aan said, aj nahi to kal Amaan ne jana hi tha, so at least till she was alive, Harib could have told her & could’ve gotten married to Aan in front of her but then again, is episode tak writer aur director ki pockets nahi bhari hongi na isi liye! It is funny how the writer has made Harib the center of everyone’s universe without him having any attraction. He is a loser who can’t do anything, can’t think straight & just can not handle the situation like a man, still we have women drooling over him including the seedhi saadhi bholi bhaali Aan!

Aan said ‘hum log itnay seedhay kyu hain’, which made me say exactly, we as viewers should be saying the same thing like ‘hum viewers itney seedhay kyu hain (jo aisay dhokay mai aa gaye)’. I think after Samira Fazal, Haseeb Hassan has earned a spot in that list too where people would be screening his dramas & if they will decide to watch it, they will be very skeptical about it! The preview of the next episode made me laugh & cringe at the same time. Shabnam’s done making Anda Parathas & now looks like Khurram will try to get married to Aan. Aan’s Taya will ask her but I am sure being a patient of asthma, Aan won’t be able to say that she would like to get married to Harib. Bas bhai wohi baat hai, jab tak 10 talaqain, 20 halalay nahi honge, ye drama end nahi hoga aur Harib Aan ka millan nahi hoga. Shame on you Mr. & Mrs. Haseeb for giving out such a pathetic drama to the viewers! Please share your thoughts about this pathetic episode of Sanam & also Maya, stop crying because you can’t act out emotional scenes!!!

Sanam Episode 19 Review – Yawwwwnnnnnnn!

Oh ho, you know what, I was actually waiting to watch Sanam this week because the last two dramas that I review (Sang e Marmar & Khuda Aur Mohabbat) are so intense, power-packed & amazing that I use Sanam as a laughing therapy, where I have a great time watching it because to me it is nothing less than a sit-com but I will confess, I am disappointed, because this episode in stead of making me laugh made me so bored that I couldn’t even bring myself to look at the TV screen & while it ran in the background as a noise, when I checked after probably 2 hours, the episode still had 13 minutes left!!! This episode of Sanam was not only boring but sooooo slooowwww that I am sure a turtle could’ve won the race in its comparison!

So, after getting to know what Harib feels for Aan, Aan ended up confessing her love for him too but they both are so becharas, so majboor that they can’t speak because Harib’s mouth is stuffed with all the Anda Parathas that he can’t open it up in front of Shabnam to tell her the truth & Aan is being a bechari dukyari for no reason because I think she still hasn’t recovered from Mannu hangover, so she is just being a Mannu again. I must say, when I saw this scene in the promo after the drama began, as I was looking for its OST, I liked this scene & I actually got so excited because I was like I can’t wait for this moment as it will be so heart-touching & emotional but now that I saw this scene, I felt cheated because so many bizarre things & situations have happened before & after this particular moment that it just killed the charm & seeing this scene actually didn’t stir any emotions. Aur Aan ki sharafat ki to misaal dunya bhar mai nahi milti. Yes, she has been hugging & bugging Harib as a friend but this time around, she confessed her feelings to him to matlab ye hug dena zaroori tha? I am not sure if her name is Aan or Jalebi, since she is so soo sooo soooo seedhi na? Hai na?

Chalo jee, Gugu ka shadi kalnay ka mood nahi ayeee, alay lay lay lay layyyy, Gugu ko ghuccha aw gayawwww. Farhan was only ready to get married to Aan because he thought he will get millions & millions from her & his life will be sorted but he got a reality check & now he is not in a MOOD to get married, exactly like someone in this drama has said (not sure who it was because I wasn’t paying attention) ke ye gudday guriyon ka khel nahi hai but seems like the writer’s past time was getting her barbies & kens married, divorced & halala’ed because of which she came up with such a hideous script & this is exactly what is happening in this drama. This goes to show how NICE & SORTED the writer’s mentality is, hai na? Tauba!

Anyways, Shabnam is getting insulted & literally slapped with shame because of the way Nayla & Farhaan are treating her but I am sure heart-attack mai Shabnam ke deemagh ke saath saath ankhain bhi kaam karna band kar chuki hain, since the writer made her totally handicapped, both mentally & physically, due to which she is unable to see how she & her daughter are being treated by Farhan & his mother. Also, you know what made me believe that Shabnam has her eye-sights going, it was the Electric Blue suit that she bought for Farhaan, hahahahahahahah!!! Aan ko waisay hi shock laga hua hai, Shabnam ne pura intezaam kar liya ke abb unki beti ko Current bhi lag jaye!

Anyways, see, I told you guys na, ke writer ki hobby rahi hogi gudday aur guriyon ki shadi, talaqain aur halalay karwanay ki, because of which she threw in a discussion about Halala just so casually, as if Aila was planning to make Chinese for dinner & she was thinking of buying spring onions for Chinese rice. Aila was like Halala kar lete hain…awwwwwwww, how cuteeee & innocent na? Shame on Mona Haseeb for literally mocking this severe punishment & literally using it as a TRP generator, how ridiculous is that, I swear!!! I prayed last week & I will pray once again, Ya Allah, miraculously aj ke baad wo saray PENS toot jayein jo Mona Haseeb apne haath mai pakrain script likhne ke liye. Please say Ameeeeeeeeeeeeen!

Sara & Nayla had a nasty confrontration. It was funny how both the negative nancys were trying to put each other down. I must say hosla hai Sara ka itna besharam hone ke liye, like your daughter just recovered from a fatal accident & there you are obsessing over Harib like a nymphomaniac. Sharam ani chahiye. Khair, I don’t think Faisal’s masoomana ‘I pity you’ would be enough for a besharam nymphomaniac like Sara!

This episode was ridiculously long & boring, but somehow I am seeing the light at the end of tunnel because I have a feeling this crappiest crappy crap is going to end pretty soon, InshaAllah. I honestly lol’ed at the precap of the next episode because looks like jo Electric Blue Suit Shabnam ne Gugu ke liye khareeda tha, us ka current unhain khud hi lag jayega LOL! Please share your say about this oh-so-ah-mazing episode of Sanam!

Sanam Episode 18 Review – Bitto Bani Bechari!

Ohkay so, in the last 40 minutes, I have looked everywhere but not on my TV screen because I didn’t have to & also because I couldn’t tolerate the roni shaklain of these forced becharas in this drama. While looking at the walls of my TV lounge, I was wondering about those dramas (Sang e Marmar & Khuda Aur Mohabbat) that made the viewers cry just recently because of such convincing situations & then here’s this drama, where when the characters cry, people find it amusing because they are crying for no good reason. Anyways, before I begin my review, can some Allah Ka Banda tell me when does this torture end & the one who will give me a confirmed news, usay meri taraf se Anda Paratha free free free!

Can someone tell me ke kisi ne aisi Ma dekhi hai, jo beti ka BURA rishta na hone pe Dunya-e-Faani se Kooch kar jayegi? If you guys have not seen a mother like that, then please look no further & take a closer look at Shabnam because she is that anokhi amman who might die after finding out that her son-in-law-to-be is Mr. Fraudiya, wohi wala Fraudiya jiss pe aik song bhi bana tha, which goes like Mr. Fraudiye, bajwan tun kinna set ayein. As usual, Maya Ali ka drama ho aur BECHARGI na ho, aisay to halaat nahi. I was cringing the whole time Bitto was being turned into a Bechari forcefully by the writer where Aan was like ‘mai kuch nahi kar sakti’, like hello, why was she introduced as a strong independent girl when the writer only had to turn her into a bechari at this stage of the drama, also aisi kya majboori aa gai hai Shabnam ke uncombed hair ke ilawa ke Aan apni amman jaan ko kuch bata nahi sakti Farhaan ke baray mai? I swear the way these SO-CALLED SELF-PROCLAIMED WRITERS twist the characters for the worst is just beyond me, oh bhai/behan jab likhna nahi ata to mat likha karo, simple si baat hai!!!

I lol’ed at Sara tonight, Fatima ke theek hote hi sir se dupatta, haath se Quran Majeed aur Tasbeeh sab ghayab, LOL @ Sara’s Musalmaan hazb-e-zaiqa approach. Also, it just didn’t stop there, now that Fatima is recovering, Sara was once again thinking about Harib like a desperado & was reminding herself of the promise she made that she’d get rid of Aan so that Harib can stop obsessing over her. Tauba I think in stead of saying ‘bhalai ka koi zamana hi nahi hai’, Sara should’ve said ‘sharam o haya ka koi zamana hi nahi hai’!

Ta-Daaaaa, this episode compelled me to do something which I hadn’t done so far..any guesses? Yes, you guessed it right, I forwarded Shabnam & Aan’s scenes a bit because I just couldn’t take the bechargi anymore. Shabnam goes like rishta aik naimat hai, us se muh nahi pherna chahiye, na shukri hoti hai, hmmmmmm since both these Ma-Beti are into food industry, I am going to give them an example based on food items too. So, Shabnam’s logic of nashukri when it comes to rishta was exactly like saying that despite knowing ke Dahi 20 days purana hai, kharab hai, aur app khainge to phir hospital mai bethe rahainge, but still just because it is a food item & a naimat, it shouldn’t be wasted & should be consumed no matter what…how stupid right? This is exactly how Shabnam sounded when she spoke about rishta being a naimat & not to diss it because it will count as a nashukri, like Shabnam herself has been feeling odd about the entire situation & she can CLEARLY see that Aan isn’t happy as well, but in stead of addressing these concerns, she is focused on getting rid of Aan, like whatttt! So much for the love of your ikloti bitto!!!

Harib aj lagta hai 3 months ki paternity leave ke baad office gaya tha pehli dafa, isi liye nazar nahi aya aur late night wapis aya. Yehi hoti hai office janay walon ki routine, so not sure wo kaunsa chakkar tha jahan Harib park, to shopping mall, to car park, to ghar, har jagah mojood hua karta tha. Anyways, Aan & Harib discussed the subject of this episode as well, which was bechargi & after looking like ultimate becharas, which the writer wanted them to look like, they ended their conversation. I swear the way Aan was giving Harib hints about how she wants to keep him etched in her eyes forever made me say one thing & that was MEESNI!!!

Anyways, in all honesty this episode was cringe-worthy. There is no reason for Aan to hide the truth from Shabnam because I’m sure Shabnam won’t die after finding out the truth about Farhaan Fraudiya. I just can’t wait for the truth to unravel & I am thinking aisa kya hoga ke Shabnam ke samne sachai ayegi because the director & the writer are trying hard to keep things hidden from Shabnam because hey, Shabnam ka heart pateint hona to aik bahana hai, aslee baat ye hai ke revenue bhi to generate karwana hai na drama drag kar kar ke. Also, can someone tell me wo kaun mariyal hai jo peechay wawela macha deti hai Hawwwnnnnnnnnnnn kar ke as if kisi ne uski kalai marori hai aur gala daba diya hai, I swear such annoying voice & background noise! Please share your thoughts about this pathetic episode of Becharan!

Sanam Episode 17 Review – Akela Hai Mr. Bechara, Ms. Bechari Chahiye!

Ohkay so, aj tak mujhe coffee itni karhwi nahi lagi par abb kya karain. There are few such dramas where when their episodes begin & end, the viewers really can’t keep a track of time because they are so engrossing, but these past 40 minutes were the longest 40 minutes of 2017 & honestly speaking, I kept on checking the timeline of the uploaded video again & again because I just wanted it to end as it was just so slow, boring & uninteresting!

Can someone please tell me how is Aila affording to stay in such a huge house that too on rental? Like Aila is not in contact with her parents, so that thing is out of the picture that they must be sponsoring her spying-spree, plus her house-mate, Shehroz is Masha Allah se so gaya ghuzra that he can’t even afford an anday wala burger for himself, so it is actually quite nonsensical to show that both Aila & Shehroz are living in such an area, in such a huge house that too on a rental, without having any financial support or backing from anyone. Shehroz’s insaniyat pangs were just like him, boring & uninteresting. I find it quite amusing that Shehroz doesn’t forget to push Aila’s agenda in front of Harib that she still wants to be with him? Like the conversations in this drama have become so repetitive & boring that if you watch this drama on mute, you’d still be able to figure out what these guys are talking about, because they have nothing new to talk about in the first place. Chalo jee, acha hua Harib ko 5 mahinay baad sharam o haya ka khayal aa gaya because of which he told Shehroz that it was quite odd that he was sharing a roof with Aila & next thing we know, Shehroz packed his bags & left, matlab he is so besharam & beghairat, that if it wasn’t for Harib’s late lecture, he wouldn’t have left on his own, haan bhai muft ki chatth aur anday parathay kisay buray lagtay hain!

Oh PHULEEEEZZZ Shabnam, stop trying so hard to make it to the list of worst mothers of 2017, because everything that you are doing goes to show you want to score a top position in that list this year. Honestly speaking, Shabnam’s character was the only good thing about this entire drama & it is a shame to see that thing turning into a disaster. Shabnam has so much of an insight into everything & she seems quite concerned about a lot of intricacies too like she can sense some ‘pareshaani’ on Aan’s face & she even feels it is inappropriate for Aan to be with Harib at such an odd hour, but if there’s one thing she is unable to see, that is Farhan & Nayla’s motives & the 12AM look on Aan’s face. I heard Harib talking about Aan’s 6th sense, like I am bringing that up because this is such a phenomenon that the writer is aware of, so why did she forget that when it comes to their daughters, mothers are quite intuitive themselves. Every mother knows what her daughter is going through & in stead of turning a blind eye from it, every mother tries to communicate with her daughter, especially those mothers who’re a single parent & have only one daughter in their lives, so, I wish in stead of showing Shabnam being so indifferent to Aan’s feelings, the writer had shown that Shabnam grew even more concerned when she didn’t see Aan as happy as she was expecting her to be!

Wah Ri Mohabbat, kya kya karwati hai, jaisay aik dupattay wali bechari ko aik na-mehram becharay ke galay lagwa deti hai. So, Aan couldn’t find anyone else & that is why the moment Shabnam spoke about Harib’s dinner, Aan scurried to him, yes, I like their friendship, I do understand that Aan has no one else to talk to & confide in, so it’s alright, but there was no need of showing that ‘friendly’ hug, that too after Harib has confessed his feelings to Aan. Aan’s entire act of ‘app kya keh rahay hain’, ‘appne kya kaha’, ‘kaho na, kaho na pyaar hai’, ‘kaha na, kaha na pyaar hai’ was actually quite annoying & her oblivion seemed quite forced because all of a sudden Aan started looking like a patient of Short Term Memory Loss, because the way Harib’s dialogues were hinting about his love for Aan should have been enough but in stead Aan started questioning what Harib was saying & why? Behan jee, us din chullu bhar aag mai dubki maarte hue Harib miyan ne izhar-e-mohabbat kiya tha, app wo bhool gain yan GUGU ka khitaab app lena chahti hain yan itni chalaak hain ke Harib se phir se aik confession ugalwana chahti hain masoooooom ban ke? I think in stead of shoving Anda Parathas down Harib’s throat, Shabnam should give Aan some Badaams in the morning in stead kyunki BITTU ka haafza kamzor ho gaya hai!

Anyways, the entire conversation that Harib & Aan had about Farhan’s dhoka & Shabnam’s damma was sooooooooooo long that even my coffee finished but that scene was still going on. Seriously, this entire conversation has been happening from the past so many weeks where Harib is in a fix thinking whether he should tell Shabnam & Aan about Farhaan or not. Anyways, it was good that Aan decided that she would tell the truth but seeing Shabnam’s uncombed hair compelled her to stay quiet. Chalo jee, looks like this drama & Aan’s on Mann Mayal & Mannu track, but here’s a little bonus for Aan, because in this drama, Farhan already has 2 kids, so she wouldn’t have to wait till she gives birth to her own so that she could return to Harib after getting divorced from Farhan.

The entire conversation about Qasab being khatarnaak & Qasab doing Farhan & Nayla’s tukray wasn’t funny actually & in fact it seemed quite forced. This episode was boring & I thought it couldn’t get boring than this but the preview of the next episode proved me wrong because it told me that things are going to get even more boring in the episodes yet to come. Shabnam aunty, sudhar jayein, nahi to appko worst mothers ki list mai dalna hi parega. Oh, I always thought that Aan’s full name would be Aan Shaukat Qureshi but she was like Aan Ahmed Qureshi, hmmmm, Sanam ho aur loopholes na hon, aisay to halaat nahi! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this BEAUTIFULLLLLLL (ahem ahem ahem) episode of Sanam!

Sanam Episode 16 Review – Yawn-Provoking!

Ohkay so, this episode practically offered nothing. It was just a filler episode filled with a whole bunch of patients who wore off the effects of my coffee a bit too quickly. This was probably the slowest episode of Sanam with such repetitive conversations & scenarios that I barely got anything to talk about.

The first half of the drama was dedicated to one such character whom I have no sympathy for & that is Fatima. Harib was worried, Sara was worried, Shehroz was worried, Aan was worried & Shabnam was worried for Fatima. They all had nothing else to talk about & kept on discussing how special Fatima is to them. Yawn!!!

Shehroz once again proved that he is Mr. PPB (Ping Pong Ball), where at one hand he was telling Harib that he is going to stand by him & on the other, he was telling that Aila wasn’t wrong in her assumptions about his & Sara’s relations. Ugh, hello, for your kind information Shehroz, Aila & Harib are divorced, so why are you bothered about what Aila thinks of Harib? They have nothing to do with each other. I am actually quite tired of seeing Mr. Short Term Memory Loss Shehroz getting so much of coverage, like the situations are just so one-dimensional & just so so so boring but they keep on using Shehroz as a Mister Twister, who twists his words to spice up the situations which fall flat & sound just so bland like Harib’s favorite ‘anda paratha’!

Chalo jee, the best todka that Hakim Shehroz prescribed for Halaat Ka Mara Harib was that to shut everyone up, he should get married & just when he was about to take Aan’s name, their conversation was interrupted, like that particular moment made me feel that the direction & the approach of the director was just so old-school & outdated, like seriously wohi purana tareeqa drag karne ka, ke bas baat ko incomplete hi rehne do takay aur episodes tak stretch karne ka mauqa mil jaye! Yawnnnn!!!!

Shabnam is feeling anxious & she is unable to understand why Farhan & Nayla have turned a blind eye from her & Aan. Even though Shabnam’s instincts are telling her that something is off about this entire proposal but just because she thinks Aan has landed herself ‘Defence ka Rishta’, she is continuing to act blind to all the faults, because hey, who cares about the future of their daughter, all they should rejoice about is the fact that their daughter is going to get married to a guy from Defence. All this while I was thinking Shabnam had a heart attack, but the way the writer has butchered the bipolar disease, I won’t be surprised if the not-so-intelligent Mona Haseeb mistook heart as brain & made Shabnam so deluded to look like someone who just suffered from a brain attack in stead of heart-attack!!! Yawnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!

Also, can Shabnam walk & talk straight & can she comb her hair? Sorry, I have personally seen a lot of heart patients around me & Masha Allah se, they look nothing like Shabnam, because they don’t need someone to hold their hand while they are walking, they don’t stutter while talking & last but not the least, they don’t have messy uncombed hair. I love Shabnam but sorry, I was cringing at the whole ‘mai-beemar-hoon’ act because it was just so so sooooo off-putting! Yawwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!

Chalo jee, Nayla wants Aan & Farhan to get married ASAP. Shabnam is not thrilled with the entire idea but she is going to go ahead with it because hey, Defence ka GUGU hai bhai. Like I said in the previous review, I was actually glad that Sara didn’t prove me wrong & she continued to showcase what a DESPERADO she is, I was actually cringing with the entire Dupatta, Tasbeeh & Holy Qur’an act because what she was insinuating was just so unholy. Just because Harib was taking care of Fatima, she tried to use that to push her agenda that Harib has done more than what Fatima’s father Faisal has done for their daughter, so she wanted to evoke the fatherly instincts in Harib, to step into his life. I am seriously disgusted that I feel like puking when I see a bunch of desperados throwing themselves over Harib. Shame on the writer for coming up with such insulting & pathetic characters like Aila & Sara who have no shame & no self-respect whatsoever!

Anyways, please share your thoughts about this hideously boring & yawn-provoking episode of Sanam!

Sanam Episode 15 Review – Saday Teen Aurtain, Saday Teen Kahaniyaan!

Ohkay so, let me be completely honest with you guys, when the episode began I actually started liking what I was watching because the first half of the episode all of a sudden started making sense to me & I felt may be this was the time when Osman Khalid Butt took over the script as I remember someone told me that he was re-writing the last few episodes of Sanam to give a proper closure to everything, so I actually thought that may be this episode was written by him or something & I even thought that I will title this episode as ‘fairly decent’ but sense, logic & all that jazz was short-lived, rather it lived till the commercial break swooped in & ruined everything. The second half of the episode was not only nonsensical but it was so boring that comparatively looking at the ceiling of my humble abode seemed far more interesting than what was happening on my TV Screen!

Harib is not only a bechara but he is a poster child of ‘haye Allah Jee, mai kya karoon’, looks like this is Harib’s pet question where he keeps on repeating it as he is always just so clueless. I am wondering why aren’t all the parathas & that beautifully cooked food working for him because his mind seems to be shrinking with each passing episode. I have yet to see an episode where Harib took a stand & a clear one at that, because where Harib should have thrown Shehroz out of his life after how he created the situation to get Harib & Aila divorced, also how he created all the misunderstandings between them, we now see Harib seeking help & advice from the same Shehroz who himself is a patient suffering from short term memory loss, where he forgets who he was supporting just 5 minutes ago!

Anyways, in the initial part of the episode, I did understand Harib’s concerns & for that matter I felt that the build up was actually quite nice where Harib was confused & he was overthinking, as he was worried that people will once again misunderstand his concerns for Aan as his love for her & despite loving her, he didn’t want to validate the rumors that people were spreading about them as he also didn’t want to put a dent on Aan’s image. Even though I also believed that Harib should’ve told everything to Aan the moment he saw how she confronted Farhan for the way he mistreated Harib, but still I could understand Harib’s thought process because he was being way too cautious considering the fragility of Shabnam’s health. At that point I was like it is getting interesting that things are building up on the basis of assumptions & it will take one final conversation where Harib & Aan will spill the beans by telling each other what they feel about Farhan & this entire engagement scenario but that thing was brushed under the carpet as the writer all of a sudden remembered that she had an XS-sized Daadi Amman to take the story forward in the most hideous manner ever known to the drama buffs!

Just when the writers start relying heavily on the child artists or smally packaged Dadi Ammans, that’s when you know that the writer was touching new heights of desperation to make things work & to also stir the sympathy in the viewer’s hearts for all the characters in general. I don’t know about you guys & I am not sure about how Sara & her husband might be feeling, but I was yawning all this while when Fatima was being mentally & physically tortured by the writer because what Fatima did & said before meeting an accident was lame & boring!!!

I didn’t know that at such a young age, girls can become BBC Reporters & can do their job with so much of dedication & determination. Fatima ended up telling Aan & Harib everything that Nayla & Farhan said about them. Who said Fatima was bipolar or something, she is a genius kid blessed with a photographic memory because she not only reported everything to Harib & Aan but she repeated the exact words too. Once again, it’s time for my public service message where I will request the parents of this child artist to pay heed to the dialogues that their kid is being forced to say because it is seriously not good for a girl her age. Anyways, Fatima also got to hear everything from Aila, about how her mommy wasn’t interested in keeping Fatima because she was too desperate to rekindle an old affair, once again, cameraman Haseeb Hassan ke saath, news-reporter Fatima from Karachi reported every single little detail to her father in London. As if the writer wasn’t tired of using Fatima again & again & again that she ended up using her for the final blow, which was to bring Aan to a confrontational park & then to get her hit by a car, to drag the drama further.

Time for a public service message once again not to the child artist’s parents but to all the parents in general, please have a look at Fatima (the character) clearly & understand that this is how your daughters shouldn’t be. Fatima is a result of an epic parenting fail, she is a result of those shameful mothers who are not interested in their kids. Everything that happened with Fatima also sheds a light on how parents should always hold the hand of their kids while crossing the road because you never know when a driver will confuse them as a lifafa & run them over. Also, please make sure your kids don’t have an access to telephones because without you even knowing, they will end up broadcasting every single thing that happens behind your closed doors. Shurkiya!

Well well well, just when Harib was getting jabbed by the jeans-clad jealous ladies, there came dupatta-clad dukhyari Aan, who swooped into that conversation out of nowhere. I thought that entire conversation was happening between Aila, Sara & Harib where Aila was holding Sara responsible for getting divorced but then Aan came in & started reciting qaseedas of how masoom she is because she wears shalwar kameez, ties her hair in a braid & knows how to make parathas, andas & kababs. HUH! Pay heed to that Aila & Sara that Aan is nothing like you guys & she is better because the writer has shown her as your contrast & the writer is endorsing the clichés that duppattay wali, braid wali, 2 in 1 maasi aur bawarchan hi shadi material hoti hai!

Anyways, this episode was such a disappointment because it started off at such a strong note but ended up losing the plot completely. I hate the way Fatima’s character is being used to drag things further & to prove a point which is best known to the writer herself. Honestly speaking, I won’t be surprised if I see Sara turning Fatima’s accident into an opportunity to grow closer to Harib as she would seek more sympathy from him citing her emotional weakness as an excuse, because anything is possible in Sanam, since the writer has turned Harib into the most sought after bechara that every girl is dying to be with him. Even though I have said it a million times, I will say it once again, I hate the way Aila has been turned into a villain, whereas she was introduced as a girl with psychological issues. Please don’t tell me that the small-brained writer thinks all those who suffer from psychological disorders are actually psychotic. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this nonsensical episode of Sanam!

Sanam Episode 14 Review – Gugu Bana Ghunda!

Ohkay so, honestly speaking, just when I was at the verge of thinking that this episode was definitely better than the previous episodes, it derailed in such a way that made my belief firm that my first impression of Sanam was going to last till the very last episode of this drama because Sanam has nothing to do with logic & sense. It is so so so obvious that the drama-makers are just adding more situations & throwing in unwanted characters to drag a drama because the main motive of this story is to show Aan & Harib’s union, so in order to make that happen, the drama-makers are trying hard to stir the emotions of the viewers by adding in such scenarios which are senseless & are not so gripping to begin with. Harib & Aan are just soooooooo sweet that they give me a toothache, I think they should’ve added a little disclaimer that before & after watching Sanam, viewers need to brush their teeth & I guess Colgate or Sensodyne should’ve powered this drama in stead of Q-Mobile, because that would’ve been more appropriate!

Well, honestly speaking, I find it ridiculous that most of the times Harib is unable to comprehend what is happening around him & when he does, he comes up with the silliest of solutions. Alright, I did like the way Harib was taking care of Shabnam & how he wanted to protect her from getting stressed any further but seeing how calm & composed Aan was, Harib should’ve spoken to her about Farhan the first thing. According to Harib, he kept silent & wanted Shehroz to stay quiet too because he assumed that may be Aan was in ‘love’ with Farhan, so he didn’t want to ruin their relationship? Like seriously? What sort of a twisted logic is this? Harib has spent more time with Aan than Farhan has, also Harib knows that Farhan came out of nowhere in Aan’s life, that too at the recommendation of Sara, so how can he ‘assume’ that Aan ‘loves’ Farhan? Also, if I know that my best friend is going to get married to a man who has been divorced & already has two kids, irrespective of what she feels for him, I would swoop in, in order to save her life because no matter how much a girl is in love, if I would know that she has been kept in the dark about the guy’s past, as a friend, it is my duty to put everything aside & let her know everything about the the reality!!! It is actually quite frustrating how the writer has tried to over-complicate simplest of situations because it is so obvious that they don’t want to end a drama in 16 episodes, so they are just adding such silliest of things to drag the story!!!

Please don’t tell me Shehroz & Aila are living together? Matlab in logon ka koi deen emaan hai ya nahi? Kiss haq se Shehroz is sharing a roof with Aila? Like these drama-makers are besharam or behiss or what? They showed us that Shehroz felt bad for Aila because he thought that Harib was at fault & he was cheating on Aila, so it’s alright, on the basis of humanity, his concerns for Aila were understandable, but ye kahan ki tuk banti hai ke yan to Shehroz ne yan Aila ne aik dusre ko GAUD le liya hai & they are inseparable? It is absolutely SICK & DISGUSTING! Also, I don’t really understand why does Mr. Ping Pong Ball (PPB) get so much of coverage in every single episode? Mr. PPB once again had an INSANIYAT KA DAURA where he started blaming Aila for what she did & how she was the reason behind Aan’s mother being in the hospital, so like what are you doing with her in her home Mr. PPB? How IDIOTIC are you or how DUMB can you be!?!?!?!

Anyways, Mr. Gugu-Bana-Ghunda (GBG) Farhan isn’t only divorced but has 2 kids now, it is funny how the director is revealing ‘awesome’ (read gruesome) details about Farhan one by one in each episode, as if we are so interested to know what Mr. GBG has done in his past? I am so not looking forward to another detail about Mr. GBG being revealed in the next episode because clearly I am not interested. Mr. Gugu couldn’t get the HUG that Aan & Harib shared out of his mind, that is why he kept on taunting Aan & Shabnam, but after a lot of attempts of the writer, Harib got a chance to become a hero & save the day where he shooed Gugu off. The note at which the episode ended was so boring & annoying, like it is absolutely ridiculous that just because Aan & Harib on their own have ZERO SUBSTANCE in their characters & have NOTHING NEW to offer, the drama-makers are giving coverage to these termite sort of characters who are just eating the show-time of the drama. To be honest, we all know that Aan & Harib are a MATCH MADE IN MOHALLA, so why is the director stalling & not getting them married ASAP? Just make it happen alright!!!

The preview of the next episode was such a yawn provoker, looks like these guys will keep on frequenting the hospital now since it looks like Haseeb Hassan thinks it makes his boring drama a lot more dramatic. This time Fatima will be the victim & to be honest, that split second shot was actually quite funny where Fatima attempted to hug the bumper of the car & failed miserably, lol!!! Aila is now a perfect case of Bipolar Bani Bhangi, where she is doing everything that a person under the influence of intoxication would do. Where did her aspect of being Bipolar go? Why was it not covered? Why is it that Aila’s parents despite knowing her mental condition have let her on loose? I think while writing this drama, the writers were too busy thinking about the not-so-important aspects that they forgot to shed a light on the important ones. Harib proved ‘once a bhukkar, always a bhukkar‘ by going like ‘Amman app jaldi shay theek how jayein phil mujhe majjay majjay ke khanay bana bana ke khilain, kyunki mai to hoon hi paidaishi bhooka’, like seriously, that woman just regained her consciousness & there he was pestering her with khanay ki farmaishain like a typical spoiled larka!!! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Sanam & spare me if you find me in a bad mood, I forgot to make myself a coffee aur upper se yeh, tauba tauba!

Keep Coffee-ing,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Sanam Episode 13 Review -Talaqyafta Tola!

Ohkay so, don’t worry guys I’ve got my fix for the day i-e black coffee & thanks to that, I recovered from the shock & torture that I went through in the past hour even though the effect of it was wearing off but never mind. So, I officially declare Sanam as a new sit-com that is airing on HUM TV these days because I don’t know about you guys but this drama surely makes me laugh a lot!!!

Even though I have labeled this colony as Harib Mohalla/Harib Chowk, I will rename it as Talaqyafta Chowk because looks like all those who’re Talaqyafta frequent this place. Here’s the list of all those Talaqyaftas who are residing in or around this Mohalla:

collage-1

I find it actually quite amusing that despite knowing Shehroz & his ping pong ball-like nature, Harib Prince(ss) chooses to trust him. I seriously have my doubts about how Harib made it to the top & ended up doing so well for himself because it just doesn’t sit well with me as to how could a masoom bechari jaan like Harib put up with the pressures of this ruthless & cut-throat world, just when he is unable to tame a psycho ex-wife, a tharki ex-girlfriend & a ping pong ball-esque friend who should be hit so hard with a racket that he never returns to this place!!!

I don’t really understand why this zanani called Shehroz is running things here? At one hand, he pledges his allegiance to Harib & promises to understand him, but on the other, he fully supports Aila & her pagalpan. It was once again a Sanam Logic that the writer applied where just because Shehroz wanted Aila to believe in Aan & Harib, he decided that he should arrange a meeting of Aila & Sara? It was absolutely ridiculous & disgusting to see two divorcees acting like 16 year olds who just got introduced to the feeling of LOUUUU & were in some lala-land imagining how purrrrrrrrfect their lives would be with Prince(ss) Harib!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! But I think we shouldn’t even bother about how many times the logic has been defied & has been murdered in this drama because writer was on a ‘maaa writin’ maaa rulezzzz’ spree!!!

Chalo jee, Amman jaan ko beti ki Nokri janay ka kuch ziyada hi dukh lag gaya that she ended up getting a heart attack & was hospitalized. I do understand her attachment & her feelings for her daughter so no comments on that, obviously she was worried & took everything a bit too seriously. That’s when things got juicy because Harib got to eavesdrop on Farhan & his mother & ended up finding out that Farhan is also Talaqyafta like Harib, wow such a new twist in the story right??? Even though for a split second I was excited that finally, Harib Prince(ss) found out about Farhan’s reality & now he will save the day but then again I was reminded that the rating-hungry director won’t end this drama before 40 episodes, so I can’t even afford the luxury of a ‘wishful thinking’.

It was absolutely traumatizing to see Aan entering the hospital to become Mannu again (queue dramatic music, dhan dhan dhaaaaannnnnn), why you do this Aan/Mannu/Maya, why you do theeeessss??? That’s the moment when I felt the effect of black coffee was wearing off but I told myself, you could do this Zahra, you’re strong enough to survive this apocalypse!!! We have been taking anti-Mann Mayal shots every single day to recover from the pain that it inflicted upon us & there you swooped in as a reminiscent of traumatizing Mannu. Maya Ali, your performance as Mannu wasn’t ‘classy or amazing’ so there is no need to rely on that again & again & again. Like Shehroz advised Aila in this episode, that’s the same advice I am going to give it to you ‘banda apni purani ghaltiyon se seekhta hai’, so Maya gurllll you need to learn some lessons from your past mistakes too!!!

6

Also, the germophobe in me gave me a very very hard time when I saw that Aan didn’t wash her hands after flushing her termination letter & it just didn’t stop there, because she put the same hand on her face (queue vomit voice here, uaaaakhhhh)!!!

Just when I once again saw Harib Prince(ss) go on ‘mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha’ spree, I was like pleaseeee not again. Like is there anything that Harib UNDERSTANDS? I guess in the pursuit of turning him into a bechara, the writer forgot to add a very small yet important organ in Harib’s body & that thing is called BRAIN. I just don’t understand why Harib is always so clueless, like how old are you? Are you a school going boy or a toddler when it comes to having some IQ & brains? I really think Harib Prince(ss) needs to snap out of this ‘haye Allah mai bechari, mujhe to kuch samajh nahi aa raha‘ mode, should man up & should take matters in his hands. It was amusing that before even doing anything, he gave up saying he couldn’t afford to give more tension to Shabnam? Oh bhai tumne kaunsa dhindhora peetna hai Shabnam ke aggay, peechay peechay se sara masla settle karo na? Stealthily mohabbat ho jati hai lekin stealthily koi aqal ka kaam nahi ho sakta?

The preview of the next episode gave me such a good laugh because jokes apart & honestly speaking, it made my mood so much better when I saw a Gugu named Farhaan holding onto Harib’s Girebaan, I was like alay lay lay lay layyyyy gugu ko gucchaa aa gayawwwww, awwwwww. Khud talaq de ke betha hai lekin Aan ke paas Harib bardasht nahi??? LOL! Anyways, honestly speaking, I am looking forward to the next episode because I want to see a cat fight between two weak men/boys/toddlers/infants aur phir Shehroz to hai hi teeli laganay wali aunty, so it’s going to be so much fun! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Sanam!

Shucks, there was no mention of food in this episode, may be that’s why I am feeling low & hungry!!!

Sanam Episode 12 Review – Hum Appke Hain Kaun?

You know usually when a drama is about to start, all those who watch it are always in a hurry to finish their chores so that they can sit back & enjoy the episode with few snacks…I wish my routine was the same before watching Sanam because before every single episode, I find myself running to grab a cup of black coffee, 1 to keep myself awake & 2 to nullify the headache that might begin while watching this drama. Anyways, with that being said, I won’t lie & will say that this episode was good in bits & pieces but there were as always, a lot such scenes & conversations which seemed unnecessary & a bit too stretched!

The first scene where Harib was at Sara’s place made me roll my eyes so bad, that I had my 1st sip of coffee. Looks like Harib knows that this Mohalla is named after him so like a true counselor of this mohalla, he was visiting Sara to check on her if she was doing alright, also, I had my 2nd sip of coffee when I heard Harib praising Sara saying ‘cooking karte hue achi lagti ho’, matlab meesna pan check kare koi, I don’t know if Harib is dumb or stupid (both are the same thing I know) to be complimenting Sara, knowing how she is still obsessing over him? Sorry, I had to take the 3rd sip of coffee to digest the fact that Harib was so masoom that he was ignoring Sara’s intentions. Also, can anyone tell me where did Extra-Small-Sized Daadi Amman go in this episode, since she was such an integral part of this drama where she was running the show in last so many episodes, so why was she absent? Use kar liya writer ne usay jitna use karna tha, abb zaroorat nahi hai uski? LOL! There goes the 4th sip!

Well, as if this Rishta of Aan & Farhan wasn’t anokha enough that the writer tried to make it more convincing by adding the Low BP angle to it, where it showed that Aan had to say yes to it because she was worried about her mother’s BP stooping a bit too low, well Aan, here’s a todka for you, jab bhi Amman ka BP low ho, to 1 glass Water mai 1 tsp Sugar aur 1 tsp Salt mix kar ke do, Insha Allah BP theek ho jayega aur BP ko theek karne ke liye appko MANGNI karne ki zaroorat nahi paregi. There I take my 5th sip, takay mera BP theek rahay. Anyways, Farhan’s mom plots with Sara that she needs to seal the deal ASAP because she feared losing Aan & her daulat, so there they swooped in with an artificial ring & Aan said yes despite not wanting to because she was worried about her mother’s BP. It was so evident that even Shabnam wasn’t too comfortable with the idea of spontaneous mangni but Shabnam, appko to pata hai na, aj kal mangniyan shaadiyan turwana hamare writers ka favorite mashghala hai, so fikar na karain, appki beti ki mangni bhi isi liye hui hai. 6th sip done!

So, I wonder if Harib went to talk to Sara about Farhan & his family, why didn’t he share his concerns with Aan immediately, like why did Harib wait for Aan to get engaged for him to confess his feelings to her? 7th sip. But, I will however say that as unconvincing as this entire mangni scene was, I actually & really liked the confession scene, where Harib was anxious, Aan was clueless & voila, there came a confession which changed everything. I liked the way the OST was used at that particular moment too, it added more charm to the situation but then again it was short-lived & we had to come back to face the reality that Harib & Aan’s millan isn’t going to happen until 10 talaqs, 20 halalas take place, so 8th sip!

So, all this while I was wondering where was Aila & then she came at the right moment to capture Aan & Harib’s confession. I wonder, which Mobile phone was she using that worked so amazingly from her balcony that too at night to click Aan & Harib’s pictures, but then after my 9th sip, I was reminded that I am watching Sanam, not Sense, so it’s alright!

Then came the scene where Aan had to be humiliated because of what Aila did. I liked that scene too because Harib seemed genuinely sorry & I actually felt for Aan because uska kasoor kya tha yaar? Sirf parathay hi to khilaye the us ne Harib ko, iska matlab ye to nahi ke kuch hai uske dil mai? But seriously, jokes apart, I actually felt for Aan & loved everything that she said about how her mother raised her & how hard she has worked, I love the bonding Shabnam & Aan share, it is the best thing about this drama in my opinion & with this, with the 10th sip, I finished my coffee to muster up the courage to gather my thoughts in this review for you guys!

The preview suggests that I will be needing 2 cups of coffee next week hopefully. Also, I know things will be very serious & I might not get a chance to make fun of everything but seeing the hospital scene was such a reminiscent of Diyar-e-Dil, Haseeb Hassan ko jaisay hi Diyar-e-Dil factor kam laga hoga, unhon ne hospital scene daal diya hoga & it is just me or the hospital was exactly the same one that was used for shooting Diyar-e-Dil’s hospital scenes too? Chalo we’ll find that out next week. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Snackam oh sorry, Sanam!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

ps: I love how the writer doesn’t forget to show the importance of food & some if not all the conversations do include the mention of food in Harib’s life, may be that’s what inspired me to talk about coffee too, at least itna to mera bhi haq hai khanay peenay pe!

Sanam Episode 11 Review – Harib Chowk!

OMG, this episode was so funny that I can’t even tell. Just like Harib implied in the precap that Aan couldn’t understand the silence between them, so I am implying the same thing that if you can’t understand the undertone of sarcasm in my review, then you’re not my friend, lol! Anyways, this episode was boring to say the least because it offered absolutely nothing!

I am not sure what made the writer & the director think that by adding Shabnam’s in laws in the story will provide comic relief in a drama? Sorry (not sorry) but every single time they show up with that hideous tun tun tun music in the background, I am reminded of those 5PM comedy dramas that usually no one watches because they have everything to offer except humor & comedy. Also, I must say, the level of stereotyping in this drama is ridiculous because the way the team of Sanam has implied that those who belong to interior Karachi & speak in a certain way are worthy to be laughed at is demeaning & insulting on so many levels. I think it’s about time that we should avoid this kind of so-called ‘humor’ in our dramas where Punjabis are made fun of their Punjabi language & now Karachites are being made fun of because of the way they speak in a certain manner! Not cool Team Sanam! Also, every single time they show up, they actually change the scenario so much that I feel I am watching some weird drama like Mohabbat Bhar Mai Jaye or Jhanjaal Pura, like I know every drama needs a set of supporting characters but these characters are not even fillers, they are just misfits who do not belong to this story at all!

Anyways, Harib took Aan on a ride, only to sit quietly with her, that scene was done nicely for a change because it showed how he wanted a friend to share his silence with him & Harib knew that Aan was the only one who could do that. This was probably the first & the last scene of the episode that made sense, had some touch of emotion to it & was done nicely, but as the rest of the episode progressed, it reminded me that I was watching Sanam, a drama which is running for the sake of defying basic logic & common sense!

A major part of the episode was dedicated to Shabnam’s in laws & I thank the director for it because I didn’t have to pay attention to what was happening in a drama, not that I need to pay attention to it anyways but still. Shama came to fix Taimur & Aan’s marriage only to find out that Shabnam won’t allow that to happen.

The moment Sara came in with her aunt & spooky zombie-esque cousin, I knew they were impostors & were only there because Sara must’ve told them how Aan & Shabnam were the easy targets as they are a little too simple minded. I must say, I had a good laugh at the way Sara & her aunt forced Shabnam to say yes, it looked like they were selling 3 piece Lawn ka Suit to Shabnam & were persuading her to finalize her purchase, like seriously, bas drama bananay ka mauqa mila hai to kuch bhi dikha do, kuch bhiiiii, beshak uski koi tuk ho ya nahi!

I must say I find Shehroz’s random humanity pangs a bit too funny. After throwing resignation letter at Harib’s face & following Aila like a puppy, Shehroz was now trying to make Aila realize what she did with Harib at his office was wrong? Ye acha hai, pehle teeli laga do phir agg bhujanay ke liye paani bhi khud hi daal do. I had a good laugh once again when Aila announced that she will be moving to Harib Chowk. Uf, so dramatic na!?!?!

So, Harib has finally fallen in love with Aan & looks like in the next episode he will declare his love for her. Lekin bhai zahir hai, jab tak 10 talaqain, 20 halalas aur 50 mangniyan nahi tootaingee, Aan aur Harib ka milan to hoga nahi, so bas dekhte jao. The precap promised some more senseless drama where now Aila will blackmail Harib by showing him some pictures of him & Aan together, to is mai aisa kya hai? I must say I had a good laugh seeing the level of AAG Harib was ready to jump in, hahahah, itni aag mai se to macchar bhi bach ke nikal jaye but oh well, for a second I forgot that I was watching Sanam, kyunki, naam hi kaafi hai!

Please share your thoughts about this episode of Sanam & yes, once again, I thank the casting director for bringing in Hina Bayat in the show, she is literally the backbone of this drama & she is the only one I enjoy watching in Sanam!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Sanam Episode 10 Review – Jhooton Ka Jhundh!

LOL! Thank you so much Team Sanam for uplifting my mood at the very last moments of this episode because just when my blood was boiling, Shehroz & his ‘you-ditched-me-Harib’ face made me laugh out loud, we’ll get to that later but yes, as usual, this episode was cringe-worthy because once again we’re getting to see how the liars always have an upper-hand on the non-liars. I will thank Team Sanam once again for proving my point that Sanam is actually Mann Mayal 2 because the situations were not only forced but seemed a little too familiar & the pre-cap of the next episode sealed the deal!

Well the first half of the drama was dedicated to Fatima. We all get it, she is disturbed & still she is lucky to have Aan aunty around her. Aan took a responsibility of fixing the dent in Fatima’s head & she succeeded, woo hoo, we’re thrilled for them. Although, there were a couple of logics that left me scratching my head, like the principal telling Sara that if she had known that Sara was a ‘single parent’ she would’ve re-considered her decision of taking Fatima in her school. I never knew this became one of the criterion in hi-fi schools of Pakistan that they actually are bothered about how things are rolling between the parents of their potential students!?! Also, Sara telling it to Fatima ‘mera hi kasoor hai ke tumhe paida kiya’, hmmmmmmmmmmm, what a nice thing to say to your kid. I don’t understand one thing, Sara is least bothered about her daughter since she is more focused on rekindling an old affair, so why doesn’t she send Fatima back to Faisal, as Fatima is more attached to her father & also, for Sara she is a victim & not a mother, so why is she even bothered about Fatima as every single time we only see her complaining how Fatima has made her life tough for her. It is actually quite disturbing how for the sake of ratings, they just show anything even if it doesn’t make sense or even if it is inappropriate. Honestly speaking, showing ‘mothers’ in such a bad light is offensive that too for a guy like Harib, who is half-wit, bechara & boring but then they are trying to live by the proverb which says ‘love is blind & so are the lovers’.

2

Anyways, Fatima’s counselling sessions were a success & once we dealt with one psycho, the focus was shifted to another psycho (mind you, I do not believe that Aila is a psycho & I have never used that word for her, I am only going by what the drama-makers are trying to prove, so yeah) who said she is going to tear Harib’s life apart & her mother doesn’t say a word, in fact sympathizes with Aila & justifies her behavior citing her own failed marriage with Aila’s father as an excuse. Aila has made up her mind that she will destroy Harib’s life & just when she was looking for a reason to conduct her plan, Shehroz swooped in!!!

1

I swear, the writer has pushed Harib’s bechargi to the limit by showing that every single person around him will misunderstand him & will question his intentions without even speaking to him first. Sara is bent on getting back into Harib’s life & then comes Shehroz with his good-for-nothing big eyes that are blind to see the reality. At one point, Shehroz declared in front of Sara that he has been with Harib ever since he learnt how to wipe his nose with a tissue & the next moment we see how he is incapable of putting two & two together to realize that Harib wasn’t in touch with Sara after they broke up? Why did Shehroz choose to believe Sara & deemed fit to report it to Aila? Matlab is admi mai deemagh naam ki cheez hai bhi ya nahi? I guess nahi, because aggar deemagh naam ki cheez hoti to ye Sanam drama ka part na hota. Seriously, I find it annoying how the writer is making the liars win every single time, oh I get it, because according to her, these things made Mann Mayal ‘interesting’ (coughing sarcasm) so she thought of adding all those masalas in Sanam to make it work too but it is falling flat! Sara lied & made it look like Harib was still in touch with her & without even cross checking, Shehroz barfed everything in front of Aila. I actually lol’ed at the scene where Shehroz ‘ditched’ Harib for hiding the truth from him, as if Aila aur Sara nahi, Shehroz uski possessive psychotic girlfriend tha! Chalo, one thing is final, Harib has always had a thing for psychos, that’s why he ends up with one psycho after another like first Shehroz, then Sara, then Aila & now even Fatima, good job Harib!

The story & the characters of Sanam have stopped making sense. The pre-cap left me in shock because looks like Sara will now try to get Aan hitched so that she walks out of Harib’s life, how reminiscent of Mann Mayal where Jeena went to Mikaeel & talked him into taking Mannu back so that she can be with Sallahuddin, like seriously Mona Haseeb, is this what you came up with? Are ratings so important to you? Do you still think people will love seeing all those things again that they have seen in Mann Mayal & hated the drama for it? Anyways, I think Hareem Farooq’s dress designer was definitely not her best friend because he/she chose the worst dresses for her. Also, I lol’ed when in the pre-cap Aila talked about moving to Harib Mohalla, hahahaha, I won’t be surprised if Shehroz will wag his tail & follow Aila to Harib Mohalla too, since he is one Phappay Kutni who loves being a frenemy to Harib. Also, looks like Sara will pressurize Shabnam to accept the proposal she brought for Aan & Shabnam will succumb to those pressures, wah jee, ye bhi anokhi kahani dekhne ko milegi. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this hideous episode of Sanam!

Sanam Episode 09 Review – Ye Kya Ho Raha Hai Allah Miyan?

Ohkay so, this drama taught me one amazing lesson, that after you have had a gazillion parathas, pizzas, cold drinks & ice creams, one thing you definitely shouldn’t miss is a cup of green tea *sipping from my cup of green tea*. Oh well, may Allah bless my dear sister who doesn’t watch this drama, but just because she happened to watch a promo of this drama, she innocently asked me if Aila was back in Harib’s life after a plastic surgery, then I had to tell her that no, Harib has a thing for mentally challenged & mentally scattered ladies & the new face that she was talking about was of Harib’s first love Sara & not his first wife Aila, haha!

I must say, I loveee the way they reinforce the importance of FOOD in our lives week after week after week. I love how all the ladies keep on hovering around Harib like food-fairies, be it Shabnam, Aan & now Sara, how sweet. I am sure it won’t take too long before Fatima will start sharing her cupcakes & ice creams with Harib too, but you know what, I don’t blame these ladies, zahir hai bhai itni nazuk si, kamzoor si jaan hai Harib, to khana thoosana to banta hai boss. I love how all these ladies have set a roster & work in peace & harmony where Aan attends Harib for breakfast, Shabnam takes care of lunch & snacks & then Sara takes care of his dinner, this man’s life is sorted! WAH! But I think since Sara has some competitiveness in her, she will now compete with Shabnam to see kaun Harib ke pass khana pehle pohachata hai, & honestly speaking, I am actually really very excited to see the race between Sara & Shabnam! I now get the reason why Harib has curbed the urge to get married, because he is being well taken care of so biwi ki kya zaroorat. He has a mother around him, he has an ex-girlfriend around him & he also has a future wife around him, to bas sara mamla set hai na bhai! I am sure Harib must’ve done some amazing deeds in life, because of which Allah blessed him with such amazing neighbors who only focus on feeding him, how sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!

Khabardaar kisi ne Harib aur Aan ko misunderstand kiya to, they are JUST FRIENDS alright, JUST CLOSEEE FRIENDS. Such close friends who are so comfortable with the idea of posing to be a ‘couple’ for a 7 year old *shivering with disgust*. Ohkay so, because of this episode, we learnt about all the things that Fatima loves to eat & Sara doesn’t, aur Masha Allah Harib ka pait to waisay hi khulla hua hai, so it doesn’t even matter what comes in front of him because he is like a chalta phirta food vacuum machine. While Aan was having a time of her life connecting with an Extra Small Sized Daadi Amman Fatima, Sara was eyeing Harib & thinking about all the luxuries she can bring back into her life if she somehow traps Harib again because he now has everything that she left him for.

Honestly speaking, on a very serious note, my appeal to the parents of the child actor playing the role of Fatima is that they should actually be more careful & cautious about all the dialogues that our not so intelligent dialogue writers write for her & make her say, like seriously, I am sure it is going to have such negative impact on her. I know the tone of my review is humorous but this is actually something that I am writing out of concern because the way Fatima said to Sara ‘aggar appko larkon ki wajah se yahan rehna hai etc’ was so not appropriate for a child of her age. I really think the parents of that child artist have to & should monitor & screen the dialogues that the directors make their daughter say because seriously, even if it is for a drama, it is so not cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, now that I have my public service message out of the way, let’s focus on other good things (coughing in sarcasm) that this episode offered. I liked the conversation Shabnam had with Harib, she is someone who actually lightens up the mood & I thank Hina Bayat for being a part of this drama, because she really brings in some sighs of relief when she shows up. We were also shown how much Khurram loves Aan but honestly, I am not going to take a guy seriously who chooses to sleep on a pink checkered bed-sheet which is actually designed for girls, so whatever!

Oh well, I actually applaud in sarcasm for Mona Haseeb for glorifying such a pathetic concept that a woman even after getting married & having a child can still be in love with her ex-boyfriend, wow! After all the Talaqs, Halalas, living with your Ex-boyfriend, trying to go back to your ex-husband after divorce (reference Mann Mayal), we now see these so-called writers glorifying such a hideous thing under the banner of LOVE! I know Mona Haseeb must be really proud of the character Harib that she conceived, that is why like a true mother to Harib she introduced all those ladies who take care of his appetite, but sorry Mona Haseeb, Harib is not such a catch that a woman even after getting married & having a child would be in love with him. There’s a limit to showing pathetic concepts & I think they really really need to draw a line now because all these things are getting out hand. I hate the fact that being a female herself, Mona Haseeb has made Harib a center of every woman’s universe, be it Shabnam, be it Aila, be it Aan & now Sara, she has made every girl who came into his life such a desperado who has no self-respect & no sense of right & wrong whatsoever. Alright, we know that Sara didn’t get the LOUUUUUUUU from her husband Faisal, that’s completely alright, but when a woman becomes a mother, her entire life, her personality, her priorities…every single thing changes, so I am not sure what made Mona Haseeb pen down such a hideous concept, character & conversation where she showed that Sara’s heart was still skipping a beat after seeing Harib. This is so inappropriate at so many levels, like it is disgusting!!!

I actually thought that after getting all the backlash from the entire Mannu/Sallahuddin/Jeena sharing a roof without any relation in Mann Mayal, Haseeb Hassan will be cautious but he proved that he still can touch new lows by showing such hideous concepts once again!!! The theme of this drama was still alright where they showed that a bechara got married to a girl who had some psychological issues but now to see all these ladies turning into desperadoes for him is absolutely sickening. Aur preview ka to poochain hi mat, looks like Harib’s frenemy Shehroz will come back & this time around he will be on team Aila because he will doubt Harib for being in touch with Sara all these years while he was in a relationship with her Aila & I can’t even begin to imagine how ugly the situation will get. I won’t be surprised if Aila & Shehroz will also move to that suburb, I think they should rename it as Harib Mohalla since everyone in that Mohalla seems to be related to Harib. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Sanam!!!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

Thank you Sara for saying ‘Ye kya ho raha hai Allah Miyan’…My thoughts EXACTLY!
