Farah Saadia who is doing morning show Morning With Farah on Terrestrial channel ATV for more than 9 years is now switching to a new channel. From 1st December 2015 Farah will be hosting the morning show of APlus the satellite entertainment channel of ATV.

ATV and PTV Home are the only two entertainment terrestrial channel in Pakistan. The morning shows of both ATV and PTV Home are quite low in glamour and glitter as compared to the morning shows of satellite channels. Terrestrial channels have a wider reach then satellite channels are even watched in distant remote areas of Pakistan.

It will be interesting to see how Farah handles this switch from a terrestrial channel morning show to a satellite channels morning show.

Fawad Khan, alongside Karan Johar, hosted India’s most prestigious award ceremony, IIFA Awards 2016, held a couple of days back in Madrid, Spain. He is the first Pakistani actor to do that and that alone is no small feat.

Fawad Khan’s entry was only one of the many electrifying parts of the IIFA Rocks 2016. Bollywood director, producer, actor and India’s finest host, Karan Johar welcomed his co-host with great zeal, and a deafening round of applause greeted him on the stage. We all are familiar with the trends that have become prevalent in the last few years for Ramadan transmissions. Islamabad High Court is finally taking a step and has set rules which will restore Ramadan shows to their true essence.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui ordered that “no circus” shows will be aired in Ramadan. All the game shows suggestive of gambling and lottery even for purposes as Hajj and Umrah will not be allowed to air. Court has ordered all the channels to maintain guidelines set by PEMRA.

The order also directs all the channels to air Azan 5 times. Durood Sharif and Dua should be aired at least 5 minutes before breaking he fast instead of advertisements.

The court has also ordered that no scholar having lesser than a PhD will be allowed to speak on the matters of Islam in morning shows and Ramadan transmissions.

We hope all the channels abide by these rules as this will be a breath of fresh air for everyone!

Islamabad High Court, today banned Valentine’s Day celebrations across the country and its promotion on social media ‘with an immediate effect’ after accepting a petition which argued that it was un-Islamic.

The order was issued by the court on the petition submitted by a citizen Abdul Waheed, whose political affiliation was not immediately known. The petitioner had urged the court that Valentine Day was not part of the Muslim tradition and its promotions on the mainstream and social media should be banned.

The print and electronic media have been warned to “stop all Valentine’s Day promotions immediately”. Pakistan’s Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has also been asked to “monitor” all mediums and send out notifications banning any such promotions.

The IHC directed the information ministry, federal government, Pemra chairman and chief commissioner to submit a reply within 10 days.
