So, this wonderful journey named ‘Kaneez’ came to an end. In the last scene we saw Peer Bakht with his 2 wives and their naya nawela waaris.. I really loved the show but the ending? NA, not so! Maybe it was the sudden unrealistic change in Bibi Murshed’s behaviour or the ressemblace with Doosri Biwi’s end, but I just don’t think the end did justice to the drama. Anyhow, before I discuss that let’s take a look at what the last few episodes had to offer.
What I really loved about Kaneez were the realistic & dynamic characters. One of my most favourites was that of Peer Saleh, a typical bigra hua peer and how he changed from that into a perfect human being. This dialogue describes the change in Saleh’s personality in a perfect way “mere parwardigar ne mujh gunehgaar per khas rehm kiya or mujhe wahan bheejdiya. Khaas inayat hai mere rab ki mujh per, haadsaat ke baad haadsaat ne mujhe hila kar rakh diya. Meri shaan ko thikane laga diya. Mere dimaagh me takkabur ki sari chah nikal gayi. Bacha to, eek khali khuli khokla, peer Saleh.
Another significant change was that of Meherbano. She always lived in envy for her sister, deprived of love and had some extreme superiority feelings. But her daughter’s marriage & death changed all of that. At first, she wasn’t ready to accept her husband’s long lost wife and daughter but eventually gave in and accepted Saadiqa and Tahira with open arms. I really liked the fall of her ego & the scene where she hugged Saadiqa was very well written, acted and directed.
Both of them realised that they should stop stepping over people just for the sake of their khaandaan. “aapko kia lagta hai, khandaan ne hamare saath qabar me jaana hai? Har kisi ne akele akele qabar me jana hai? Har kisi se akele akele sawaal hone hen.” Well that was one on-time realisation. How much do I wish that our peer Bakht would accept this big truth too?
But no, Peer Bakht was always one buzdil man and he remained it. Somehow he did manage to man up and tell Sheherbano about his first marriage: “mohabbat ne to sabit kardiya ke wo khatm nehin hone wali, haan is baar khandaan ki rasmen dam torti nazar aati hen” but her rooth ke jaana & emotional blackmail karna reminded him again that his izzat was more important than kamzaat people’s life. He asked Malkaan to stay in his house as a maid & again our holy Malkaan happily agreed. I must say, I never bothered much about her becharapan because it was somehow justified. But at this very moment, I was really thinking of how one could be such a qurbani ki gaye?!?
So the dastaar was given to Peer Saleh. As much as I find that type of things OTT, I was very happy that someone like Peer Saleh became incharge of the family because he was now a someone who wouldn’t allow any injustice & deserved that title.

And Since he did many good things, destiny gave him good things in return. Banafshe & Peer Saleh were blessed by a little baby boy. But that wasn’t the only thing that was granted to him that day. He also found out that Rabeel was still alive. He couldn’t bring her back but atleast he did the right thing to tell his mother about her daughter’s existence. At the end of the day, blood relations will always remain no matter what.
I loved the scene where Saleh, Meherbano, Rabeel, Kabeer, Banafshe reunited as one happy family.
I always loved this show for its unexpected twists and turns.. But Malkaan being pregnant? That was a little bit too much I think. The only good thing about this turn of events was Malkaan FINALLY realising that being as submissive as her, was not good at all. When peer Bakht asked her to abort the child, she had all those flashbacks & realised that there was no light at the end of the long tunnel she had been travelling for 20 years. Peer Bakht’s love was nonwhere to be seen, even though she had done every single thing to earn it.. “Malkaan, agar to gheirat mand baap ki aulaad hogi, to ye jagah ye muqaam marte dam tak yaad rakhe gi. Sirf muhabbat karte rehna, aurat ko zeeb nehin deta. Jis tarah aurat ke dil ki maang hai mehboob. ussi tarah uske wajood ki maang hai izzat, rishton ka waqar! or jo mard, tieno cheeze cheen le, usse chahne per auraat ko khud hi doob ker mar jana chahiye”.
Even after the doctor’s remindings of Malkaan’s life being in danger if she would abort the child, Peer Bakht insisted on this to happen. But when he heard that this child was a boy, his expressions changed. The desire of having a waaris, made him change this decision. Sheherbano left the house again, but this time he didn’t give in to her blackmailing, now his waaris was was on the way, nothing would stop him.
But seeing this waaris and Malkaan’s say aapki kaneez ka beta made Sheherbano change & we saw bare sarkaar with his khandaani biwi, his kaneez and his naya nawela waaris living happily ever after. Does this mean that only giving birth to a boy will make a man like Peer Bakht announce his love marriage? Does this mean that, if Noor Afroz had been a boy, none of this drama would have happened? Speaking of Noor Afroz, I really missed her and Ahraam in this last episode. Are “happy” ending dikhani hi thi to unhe to lee ate..
However, this was one memorable show and an excellent watch on weekends. So still a big thanks to the whole team for providing us with a lovely journey! All the actors did a great job, the direction was top & the production values didn’t give anything to complain either.
So that’s it from my side, I would love to hear your views & feel free to disagree :)
& I’m veryyyyy sorry for being so late but I’m such a bad planner :s
Alright then, number 13 is out and it has got to be the best episode yet!! Brilliant story-telling and awesome execution of the plot. Every page of Naml keeps you hooked to it. The episode was titled “Man khisht ba Malika daad’, meaning ‘I gave the queen a diamond’.
****SPOILER ALERT****
Progress
We witnessed some solid developments in this episode, starting off with Dr. Sarah Ghazi’s account of attack on Saadi. Saadi calls her to the family function at ‘Foodily Everafter’ to secretly pass the sole evidence he had against the Kardaars. She however, excuses from attending the function and they arrange to meet in the under-construction building. Unfortunately, due to Sheru’s stunt, she loses her pouch there (she was watching from the rooftop of the neighbouring under-construction building). She cannot muster enough courage to attack Sheru but makes sure that Saadi gets medical attention. She recovers her valuables from her pouch but the diamond shaped key-ring was missing (which had the pen camera attached to it). She abandons hope and decides to stay quiet for her daughters’ safety. By the way, later on we get to know that Gul Khan possess that key-ring and pen now.
Haneen gullibly tells Hashim that Zumar wants her to crack open Saadi’s laptop and the corrupted files in the USB. Hashim, possessing the devil’s brains, puts two and two together and asks Haneen to give him the files in the flash drive because they were his. Haneen does not however give him the correct USB (thanks a million) because it was Saadi’s.
Zumar is warming up to Faris but there is something about his attitude that pins her. She gets to know that Faris was the one who gave her the nose-pin and they have a fight over it. Faris angry (and embarrassed, because their voices carried over to the whole family), leaves the house. Nudrat gets very angry at Zumar and says things that hurt her so much that she leaves house. Faris is called back by Haneen and he finds Zumar sitting in the jungle-y area near their house, bruised and heart-broken. He comforts her, telling her about Nudrat’s bad experience with the house. Nudrat had apparently had to live in this house once before, when Zumar’s mom ousted her from her from her house. Zumar softens up to him because of his kind words and his first-aid for her bruised toe.
Another major development was when Zumar finds photos of herself and Zartasha just after the attack on them in Saadi’s laptop. She asks Ahmer’s expert opinion on this who downright rejects that these could have been taken by Faris. But he agrees that Faris must be the one shooting her. Zumar hires him to find out about how and by whom were these pictures taken.
As for Saadi, he gets to know that he is in India. Being brought their illegally and having worked for NESCOM, Pakistan, he cannot run away. He recites the Qur’an again, reading the Ayahs about the queen ant in Surah Naml. Suddenly, the holy book is snatched from him and he is injected with a paralysing serum. Hashim Kardaar comes into the room with all his glamour and infuriates Saadi by telling and showing in pictures that his family has forgotten him and is in Hashim’s control. He also says things about Haneen that are ultra-cheap and asks Saadi to work from him because he does not have any other choice (really Hashim??).
Meanwhile, Zumar, in her attempt to understand Faris, tries to open his secret room in the basement. Faris immediately confronts her and scares her off. She does not give up though, and later on convinces him to open the door for her. Faris opens the door and the episode ends (*sigh*).
Character Development
Dr. Sarah Ghazi
I know it’s hard to for us readers to connect with her cowardice but she does represent a mentality in our society. She does however vent her rage a little by ill-wishing for the culprit’s children at Hashim’s face. The writer has given us many strong female characters in this novel, Zumar, Haneen, Javahirat, but this one represents a typical overly-cautious mother who cannot even stand as a witness for an innocent boy’s murder. Or even avenge her husband’s murder.
Zumar & Faris
Ok, there is something fishy about Faris now. He is presented as the mystery guy in this episode. What is in that room that he hides from everyone? His former wife’s relics? Proof of her love for Zumar? Some clues he has against Kardaars? Or was he actually involved in attacking Zumar?? And what is the origin of his middle name Taheer? As far as I know it has Arabic orgins, but does it connect in some way to Persian as well? Only time will tell. As for Zumar, she has finally decided to investigate the unknown about Faris Taheer Ghazi. I liked how she was shown to crack up when Nudrat yelled at her. This showed a more eastern-woman side of our Ms. Attitude.
Haneen
For the first time in the past 3 months, Haneen showed some sense. She did not go to meet Hashim at night and is not willing to trust him blindly either. At least, she is putting her beloved brother’s possession near and dear. She has also cracked Saadi’s laptop for Zumar.
Hashim
How can anyone be so cunning, cruel and heartless at the same time? Although, every piece of the Kardaar clan is a masterpiece in evil, but Hashim Kardaar is indeed the devil himself. We had correctly guessed that he must have been unaware of Haneen’s crush on him, but to use it against an already helpless brother? That is taking evil to a whole new level.
The New Entries
We get to know about a mystery guy Haroon Ubaid. So far we only know that he is a corrupt politician, had a Persian mother, has been friends with Javahirat Kardaar (sends her diamond necklace) and has hired Ahmar to run his campaign. Another new entry mentioned was of Mrs. Touqeer Bukhari. Apparently, she is also someone to look out for.
Quality Rating
The episode was fast paced, so I would give 5 out of 5. Overall, the scenes kept relating to the title mentioning a queen and a diamond. It was well-thought and brilliantly put together. An overall score of 4.5 would be appropriate.

P.S. I deliberately left out Sheru’s discussion :-P He is such a waste-of-space.
Head of the religious entity Jammatu Daawa Hafiz Saeed has filed a petition in Lahore High court through his lawyer AK Dogar demanding a ban on the release of upcoming Bollywood film Phantom due to release in last week of August.
Hafiz Saeed
The film is about 2008 Mumbai attacks known as 26/11. India has always accused, Hafiz Saeed as the master mind of these attacks. As per Hafiz Saeed, the film has baseless propaganda against Pakistan so it should not be allow screening here. The hearing of the case will start on the 10th of August.
Phantom is based on a book named Bombay Avengers and is directed by Kabir Khan who also directed the super hit film Bajrangi Bhaijan released few weeks ago on Eidul Fitr in Pakistan.
If banned, it will not be the first such film. In recent years censor board has refused to issue censor certificates to many Bollywood films. This year Bangistan and Baby were not allowed screening by censor board. However this ban seldom impacts the appetite of Bollywood films which prevails in Pakistan. All such banned movies are openly aired on cable networks (normally pirated version) locally as well openly available on DVDs.
Here is the trailer of Phantom. From trailer it surely look a work of fiction, but its publicity tagline is ‘A STORY YOU WISH WERE TRUE’
What makes Mol stand out is the fact that it’s entirely a character driven play. The characters are so complex and unpredictable that it gets difficult to make up your mind about them. But, the fact that the characters are anything but simple or predictable makes Mol an interesting watch.
Tum say shadi kar kay mein nay un logon kay saamnay khula ailaan kia hai kay I won’t take dictations! Suffocated by Humayun’s dictatorship, Sheheryaar was bent on proving to his father that he won’t let anyone control his life, and the decision to marry Emaan sent his message loud and clear: no one can make decisions for Sheheryaar Hassan except for Sheheryaar Hassan himself! What haunts and hurts Emaan and breaks her into tears is the thought that Sheheryaar didn’t marry her because she was important to him – he married her because he didn’t want to marry Sajal. Agar ammi abu kay orders par hi chalna hota tou Sajal say hi shadi karleta hai. This wasn’t the first time Sheheryaar and Emaan had a disagreement, but this was definitely the first time Sheheryaar used that tone with her. I think if Sheheryaar is adamant that he doesn’t want to hear from his parents and that they don’t mean well, Emaan should refrain from mentioning Hajra Aunty over and over again because by the end of the day, it’s her relationship with Sheheryaar that matters the most and she can clearly see that any conversation regarding his parents always ends up in an argument. Sheheryaar stresses that Hajra and Humayun aren’t Emaan’s well wishers, but I don’t think it’s the main reason why he doesn’t want Emaan to meet them. I think the real reason is that he just doesn’t want them to interfere, whatever their intentions may be. On a side note, I think there should be a compilation of all the times Sheheryaar says, ‘yeh meri zindagi hai!’ This is YOUR life, Sheheryaar, rest assured we don’t disagree!
Talking about Hajra Aunty’s intentions, I am still not sure if she’s Emaan’s well wisher because I feel that it’s only her desire to have grandchildren because of which she is taking a great deal of interest in her bahu‘s well being and that’s about it. I may be wrong, so let’s see!
I had no idea I’d be saying this, but I thoroughly enjoyed the inevitable confrontation between Emaan and Sajal. I was expecting it to be a bitter and heated exchange of words, but much to my relief, we didn’t get to hear any dirty accusations, curses or baddauyen. For a girl who got ditched by the man she grew up fantasizing about, Sajal’s initial anger and her lashing out at Emaan did make sense to me. All this time, Sajal envied Emaan, thinking that she has it all; Emaan, being Sheheryaar’s wife, is the only woman entitled to his time, love and affection. Little did she know that there is a void in Emaan’s life. I think this meeting was much needed because it’s high time that Sajal heard Emaan’s side of the story. I loved how Emaan kept her tone polite and respectful, and without losing her calm, she explained that she didn’t ‘snatch’ Sheheryaar from Sajal. Yeh rishta muhabbat ki nahe, zidd ki bunyaad par hua hai. This was no Sukkur ki larki ka ‘jadoo’ because though it’s true that Sheheryaar was impressed with Emaan’s strong sense of self, intellect and personality, the main reason behind marrying Emaan was to reject Humayun’s choice. Tou iss ka matlab hai kay tum bhi Sheheryaar ko paa kar bhi nahe pasaki. I liked how this was not a conversation between a vamp and her target. Instead, this was a conversation between two women in love with a difficult guy, trying to understand and sympathize with each other. For the first time ever, I could actually connect to Sajal. Sajal was never bad at heart, and it’d be fair to say that she’s not a vamp.
Mein Sheheryaar kay liye sirf ek belonging hun. Now this is where I don’t exactly agree with Emaan and I think she’s being a little unfair here. It’s true that Sheheryaar doesn’t readily express how he feels about Emaan, but I think it’s plain to see that Emaan is more than a ‘belonging’ to him. Agar yeh sirf ammi ya abu ki khuawish hoti tou mein nahe jaata lekin mein janta hunk ay yeh tumhari khuawish bhi hai. Sheheryaar agreed to go to the doctor for the sake of Emaan and this shows that he cares about her, respects her wishes, takes her as a priority, and her narazgi does matter to him. A couple of episodes back, he cancelled his official dinner because he wanted to spend time with Emaan, and he wouldn’t have done that if he’d only thought of her as a mere ‘belonging’. I felt that Emaan painted quite an unlikable picture of Sheheryaar in front of Sajal – he’s not that bad a husband. But, the question comes, does Sheheryaar love Emaan? Quite frankly, this is a debatable point, and I am sure all the viewers will come up with different views. After watching this episode (especially the part where Sheheryaar says, ‘mein darr gaya, pareshan hogya, kay agar tumhain na lekar gaya tou tum naraz hokar Sukkur chali jaogi), I think Sheheryaar loves her, but doesn’t want to admit it, or he loves her without even realizing it and has yet to sort out his feelings.
The way the conversation between Emaan and Sajal ended (the two were smiling) gave me a teeny tiny ray of hope that it’d finally dawn on Sajal that she’s better off without Sheheryaar and that she would think about moving on. And the following soliloquy sounded really good to me. Agar mein khush nahe hun, tou tum bhi khush nahe ho Emaan. Kisi ko paa kar na pana bohat takleefday hota hai. Tum mujh se bhi zyada akely ho. But, that didn’t last for long because her conversation with her mother was a letdown. OK, I give up! I should now accept the fact that our dramas would never show a girl getting over her bachpan ki muhabbat/mangni, and Sajal, dear folks, is no different! Mein chaah kar bhi Emaan say humdardi nahe kar parahi. Muhabbat say ya majboori say, Sheheryaar hai tou ussi ka na. Is it just me or Sajal actually looked kinda happy and content after that visit? I guess the thought that Emaan is not happy with Sheheryaar pleases Sajal. The most irritating scene of the episode was the one where Sajal’s admiring Sheheryaar’s bachpan ki cute photos –definitely not cute! Now that Sajal has made clear that she loves Sheheryaar too much to think about anyone else and her father is secretly hoping that Sheheryaar ka dil bhar jaye, I think we’re getting the dusribiwi warning.
The major development here is the revelation that Emaan and Sheheryaar won’t be able to have a child. I have to say that I really felt for Emaan when she broke down. Emaan harbours a strong desire to be a mother, to have a child and tend to his/her needs. Emaan is a headstrong woman, but even the strongest of people have their breaking points and this was Emaan’s, because this was probably the worst thing she could’ve imagined happening to her. The next episode will be all about Emaan coping with this news, and I want to see how the story unfolds now.
This was the first time they made good use of the soulful OST. It really matched the moods and situations of the episode, and I think they should play it more often to compliment the scenes.

Whether you’re an actress or a model you have to be weight conscious if you want to bag quality projects. It is a fact that looks count just as much as talent in the drama industry. There are very few over weight actresses who get to play the lead in dramas. In order to play the role of the single heroine you must look that age and for that being thin is necessary. But it is also a fact that while drama industry is more welcoming of actresses who might not be very thin, the situation in the film industry is completely different. All of these actresses in some of their interviews have said that the big screen is not forgiving at all so if they want a career in film they have to lose weight. With the Pakistani film industry flourishing more actresses want to bag roles in films. Non of these actresses were very over weight but they shed the extra pounds which might not have looked good on the big screen.
Juggan Kazim said herself that she wanted a career in films which was her main motivation behind losing weight. Saba Qamar was criticized severely by viewers for her extra pounds when her item number’s promo came out. Sohai Ali had a chubby face which turned into a sharp jaw line when she lost weight for her film Wrong No. Ayesha Omer was always thin but she has lost even more weight now which makes her look younger and smarter. Ushna Shah is another actress who has shed a lot of pounds.
Here is a list of top actresses who have lost a lot of weight in recent times and they look great after losing weight.
Juggan Kazim
Here is a before and after picture of Juggan Kazim which speaks for itself!
Saba Qamar
Saba decided to do some extra gym and shape up her body before the HUM Awards. Here is the latest picture of the actress which shows that she has shed many extra pounds.
Ayesha Omer
Ayesha Omer has never been chubby but she had a chubby face because of which she has trimmed down even more for her film Karachi Se Lahore.
Ushna Shah
The recent picture of Ushna Shah on the red carpet of Manto showed how much weight she had lost. The Dua of drama serial Dua looks very slim now. Here is a before and after picture:
Sohai Ali Abro
Sohai Ali Abro is also one of those many actresses who lost weight so that they could look better on the big screen. Here is a before and after picture:
Aiman Khan
Aiman Khan is another actress who entered this field at a very young age and she was chubby like any other young girl her age. Now she has put in extra effort to shed all the weight and she looks gorgeous. Here is a before and after picture of Aiman Khan.
Minal Khan
Minal Khan has a pretty face which looks even more stunning now that she has shed a lot of weight. The remarkable weight loss is evident in these pictures which Minal Khan posted on her instagram page.
Oh well, I so wish this drama ends next week because they have literally run out of story completely. I really think this drama was appropriate for 14 episodes but they have stretched it too far. Even though HUM’s dramas don’t usually end at 18 episodes but for Jugnoo, this number seems a lot because both; the story & the direction have derailed from the track.
This episode didn’t offer us anything that we haven’t seen before. It was all about those repetitive dialogues that I have already discussed in my previous review. Yes, the new thing we got to see was Jugnoo giving up on Zulfi but sadly, even she doesn’t realize that he is not worth it. She is only worried about her face saving & how she would be embarrassed in front of Khala Jahangir & Khala Kissho. Even though I really like Jugnoo’s character for the fact that she is ready to go to any lengths to save her marriage & also for the fact that she is an independent, self-sufficient girl but sadly, I am disappointed in her for not realizing that Zulfi is good for nothing & he is just a burden that she would have to carry on her shoulders for the rest of her life if this marriage works out. I expected better from Jugnoo, because she is the one who beat her husband up when she picked up on his lies but the Jugnoo we see now is someone who is just chasing her husband without even having a thought about the things he should be doing for her.
To be honest, Zulfi makes my blood boil. Like seriously, how mentally deranged can he be? To be honest, I never thought that I’d get to see such a healthy yet mentally handicapped character who would have no direction, no thought process & no ‘brain’ of his own! I really want to know was Zulfi still dreaming when he saw Jugnoo coming back from the dead! I am amazed that Zulfi couldn’t understand what a liar his brother is for telling him that Jugnoo has died whereas she survived a murder attempt that Tanveer planned for her, yet again Zulfi chose to believe another lie that Tanveer fabricated about Jugnoo signing the divorce papers after making a deal with him? I really cannot imagine that Zulfi was shown as a university student because going by the IQ level he embraces; he graces the level of a Kindergartener better. Zulfi is so dumb to figure out that Tanveer has been lying to him throughout but where he didn’t have the brains to put two & two together he had the audacity to complain about Jugnoo’s deal in front of Ghazala, like seriously, what have you done for Jugnoo that she shouldn’t sign any such deal with anyone to be freed from being bound to such a dud like you? I think Jugnoo should’ve gone ahead with the offer that Tanveer gave to her because she would’ve been better off that way.
I am amazed that even after Ayesha told Zulfi how he should go ahead & lead a happy life with Jugnoo, he chose to stay back to listen to more such gibberish that Tanveer fabricated out of thin air. I really don’t think it was a good idea to put the main leads & their brains in the back seat & give the front seat to the side characters because it’s been a while, I am only getting to see Tanveer, Ghazala, Ayesha, Saadi, Baba Sahab & the Baby Mother (who once again blurted that her daughter is innocent) in the picture & they have started to tick me off. It’s like they are ruling the course of both Jugnoo & Zulfi’s life & those who should be concerned the most about their personal matters are least bothered where Zulfi has bit his tongue, has lost his sense of speaking & Jugnoo is making the most of her trip to Murree by dedicating her time to the sightseeing because she obviously thinks she would never get to visit Murree again.
To be honest, this drama stopped making sense long time ago but I kept on giving it a chance after a chance thinking there must be something in store for us but I was sadly mistaken. Introduction of Dr. Saadi’s character made things interesting but looks like he had very limited dialogues to work with therefore he kept on tweaking his dialogues to stay in the scenario without looking like someone who had nothing to talk about. Actually the ending of such sort of love stories that go through so many phases is the most interesting bit where everyone waits & anticipates about what’s going to happen in the end but after this episode, I really don’t think I’d be bothered at all to find out if our Jugnoo unfortunately has met her happy ending which is going to be anything by happy! Share your thoughts about this episode of Jugnoo please.

About Manto
Saadat Hassan Manto is considered as the leading short story (afsana) writer of Urdu literature. He also wrote the stories and dialogues of many films in Bombay, British India before 1947. After the partition in 1947, Manto migrated to Pakistan with his wife Safiya, the couple has three daughters.
In Pakistan Manto continued writing Short Stories and also wrote an Urdu film Beli in 1950. He also wrote the sketches of famous persons whom he had met. In Pakistan, he faced many financial hardships and being addicted to alcohol he passed away in 1955 at a young age of 42. During his life he also faced the court charges of writing obscene content and portrayed as a controversial figure. His widow Safiya passed away in 1970’s. His three daughters Nusrat Jalal, Nuzhat Arshaf and Nighat Patel are alive and live in Lahore.
Farwa’s wishes seem to be coming true not entirely due to all her planning but also because of some misunderstandings. This episode was much more interesting then the last one because the story is moving forward in a direction that makes you look forward to more and this episode also gave hope that Farwa might change her mind and realize life is not all fun and games. Although there isn’t anything pointing towards Farwa’s change in attitude just now but something tells me that this marriage is not going to take place and I am guessing that this drama is all about Farwa learning the ABC of life. Farwa and Changez have grown closer and even though Changez is not willing to send his parents to Farwa’s house but we saw him confessing his love for Farwa in the next episode’s preview.
Farwa managed to convince her parents that there was absolutely no hope for her because of her mental condition and her teacher was not providing the help which her parents expected him to. Farwa’s teacher told her father the truth about her lack of interest in her studies so that he could make her work harder but he had no idea that this would prove to be the final nail in the coffin. In a way he helped Farwa by convincing her father that his daughter really was “slow”. I felt for the poor teacher, he tried his best to make Farwa interested in the subject but it looks like Farwa won this battle after all at least for now. I think what we see here is that no one can help you until you are willing to try hard and change your circumstances yourself. Nothing in Farwa’s life is going to change unless Farwa realizes that she needs to bring that change in her life. I found it really funny when Farwa’s parents were more than willing to fool Junaid’s parents because they have been fully convinced now that Farwa will never be able to pass the exam. Junaid’s mother took for granted that a girl who belongs to such an educated family must be very intelligent – she obviously has no clue what is coming her way!! We found out today that Asma is a renowned architect therefore anyone related to her would automatically be considered gifted.
The first scene of the episode lasted more than 2 minutes which was a little too long. Other than that the rest of the episode was well directed except for a few scenes in which it seemed like the director was trying too hard to make the viewers laugh. The story is definitely getting interesting and I am waiting to find out more about Yasir Mazhar’s character. Will Farwa’s teacher’s parting words have any effect on her? Or will she continue relying on marriage as the ultimate happy ending? Is Changez really in love with Farwa? Will he do something to stop the marriage? I am waiting to find out!!
Soniya Hussain has a great chemistry with all her co-stars which is one of the reasons why I continue watching this play. Adnan Jaffar is another actor who always brings out the best in all his characters. In this particular case he makes me feel for his character every step of the way. His genuine concern for his student and complete ignorance of why he falls asleep every time they sit down to study makes him a very likeable character. Ahmed Hassan has done complete justice to his role as Changez, he is a bit Over The Top but then that is what Changez’s character is like. His comic timing is perfect and he is a natural.

Salma and Azfar’s divorce and Azfar’s marriage with Naveen was one of the most controversial happening of the past year. The fans refused to accept this marriage and saw Salma as the victim in this whole affair. Azfar and Naveen also confessed in their interview that the public backlash was so severe that it took them a year to come out in the public openly.
This was the first time that Salma talked about her divorce with Azfar and his marriage to Naveen when she was invited as a guest in Nida Yasir’s Morning Show. Salma said that she started feeling that Azfar had changed long before he told her that he was going to get married to Naveen. Salma said that she never knew when the marriage was taking place and only found out about it from other people.
Salma said, “Azfar gave me the option of staying married to him even after he got married to Naveen but forgiving him appeared to be much easier if I had no relationship with him. I wouldn’t have been able to forgive him or move on had I stayed married to him therefore I decided to leave him. I could not share Azfar with another woman, I do not have such a big heart.”
She also said, “Right till the last minute Azfar wasn’t sure about his decision to marry Naveen, he was confused. If I wanted I could’ve stopped him from going ahead with this marriage but I didn’t.” Salma said that when a person decides to get married to someone it means that he has already moved on so there is no point on holding on to him or in making him stay.
Salma also revealed that she had to go into therapy after her relationship with Azfar ended because she could not cope with what had happened. The therapy sessions consoled her and she realized that their marriage was already over long before Naveen came in the picture. She said, “Sometimes when people make decisions they don’t consider how badly they are hurting other people because they are only thinking about their own self.”
Salma said that women who live with a husband who has a second wife are victims of abuse in a way and they don’t have the courage to get out of the situation. Salma said, “The distance between us started when our daughter Fatima was born because Azfar was always the child in the marriage and now that there was another child he couldn’t cope with it. My entire focus was on my daughter and that is when my relationship with my husband suffered.”
“For a year I suffered a lot but now I want him to be happy. Some people have this kind of a nature I accept him the way he is. I am still friends with him but I will never see his wife and I will never go to his house,” said Salma.
Salma said, “It is not easy being a single mother. I have to give breaks during work because I have to be there for my daughter because of which I lose a lot of projects too. I have to plan my schedule around her. I have always insisted that Fatima should be close to her father because if she is not close to him it will have a negative effect on her.”

Manto is the most awaited films of this year which will be released in September. The red carpet of the film was attended by the drama, film and the fashion industry. Actresses like Savera Nadeem, Irfan Khoosat and Marina Khan who never make an appearance on the red carpet of any films were also seen on the red carpet of the film. All the songs of the films were revealed in this special premier and the response of the stars was very positive.
The story is moving forward slowly, but the thrill is gone. This obviously had to happen, and I terribly miss the intrigue from the previous episodes, but I am glad the the show is not being dragged. I will repeat the fact that the performances are mesmerizing! Noor Hassan especially deserves a round of applause. He nails everyone of Aatir’s expressions, makes us hate this evil character and helps us understand him too. The writer deserves appreciation for writing this complex character well.
The promo tried to deceive the viewers that Aatir would divorce Muqaddas after finding out that she was pregnant but once I heard those three words I knew that it was one of the characters’ bad dream_ and as it turned out, it was. The way Aatir found out about the pregnancy was the tried and tested, eavesdropping, but unlike other dramas, I found it convincing and honestly, it was about time!
This week, we found out what Jehanzeb did to Aatir’s mother, Maryam Ahmed Ali, who is played by the gorgeous Fazila Qazi. A flashback showed young Aatir requesting Maryam to tell him a bedtime story and inquiring about why she was so sad. “Mein ne dekha thha, Jehanzeb uncle aap ko tang kar rahe thhe aur aap ro rahi thheen.” For a kid, losing his mother is the worst thing ever. Six-year-old Aatir saw his mother being teased by Jehanzeb, then being thrown out of the house because of the same man. She may have committed suicide after that or the depression got to her. Either way, Aatir lost his mother at an age when he needed her the most, because of a man who valued his desire more than someone’s life. Aatir spent a lot of time crafting a plan to destroy that man. What Aatir forgot was, however, that he was doing the same thing Jehanzeb did. In order to achieve his desire, i.e revenge, he was ruining another person’s life_ a girl who had nothing to do with her father’s sins. Fate intervened and he fell in love with his “bait”, otherwise poor Muqaddas would be living with Jehanzeb right now, divorced and carrying a child who would never know who his/her father was.
Jehanzeb and Aatir’s conversations are definitely interesting. The phone call from episode 27 clearly explained us Aatir’s state of mind. Aatir’s concept of love is twisted. All those years of plotting and planning have taken their toll on his brain. He says he loves his wife and would never harm her, but then he threatens Jehanzeb by saying that he would leave Muqaddas or deny the fact that she is carrying his child. I so wish that Muqaddas hears one of those conversations and realizes what a twisted mentality the guy has. She deserves to know the truth. With that said, I don’t feel sorry for Jehanzeb at all. What he did was unforgivable and he deserves punishment for that_ Muqaddas doesn’t.
Kabir and Nida kept fighting and Nida really crossed the line when she openly claimed that Muqaddas and Kabir were having an affair. Kabir is obviously tired of her taunts but the divorce demand clearly caught him off guard. He was very disappointed and it showed that he had no intention of leaving her. I feel sorry for him because he has to deal with such an annoying wife. Nida Zaidi and Furqan Qureshi perform their characters well.
Even though I hate Aatir, I love it when he shuts Ruhi up. Ruhi keeps threatening Muqaddas that she will tell the “truth” to Aatir. I say the same thing every time Ruhi tries to scare Muqaddas,” You know nothing Ruhi!” She thinks she has it all figured out, but I bet she will get the shock of her lifetime when she finds out the truth. Aatir does not doubt Muqaddas’s character, but he is realizing how he put his child’s future at stake. In his subconscious he is regretting his actions. When he visited his mother’s grave and told her that he did it for her, and that Jehanzeb deserved this, he was actually telling himself, “You did nothing wrong.”
At this point, the ending is unclear. I just hope that the ending is justified and satisfactory. This drama is one of its kind and I hope that the ending OR dragging don’t ruin it for us.
It is often said that love is like fire, if you don’t keep it alive it dies! Well Aapa Ji believes in this saying more than anyone else in this drama!! She is so eager to keep this “fire” alive that it looks like she is not afraid that it might eventually burn all the relationships she has invested so much time and effort into building. Aapa Ji is the sort of person who does not believe in letting go and there is no end to her manipulation. Wajahat’s attempt to take his own life was predictable but the way Aapa Ji reacted was definitely not what I had expected. Even after everything that transpired she remained unmoved and did not budge from her stance. Taking her brothers on a guilt trip and making the most of whatever she has done for them in the past has been working really well for her all these years therefore she knows just how to manipulate her brothers. The only thing new about Aapa Ji’s character is the double life she lives other than that she is your average negative female character which we see on screen all the time – she is lonely, insecure, conniving, manipulative and jealous. The fact that Iffat Omer has played a role like this for the first time is probably one of the biggest reasons why my interest in the play stays intact till now otherwise if it was any other actress I would have stopped watching the play by now.
The viewers learned that Rukhsana has a friend too who she probably dresses up for and talks on the phone with. I couldn’t help but wonder if this “friend” was a figment of her imagination or he was actually real. Real or not this is someone who knows everything that goes on in the house and also tries to warn Rukhsana about the consequences of her actions but ultimately has to agree with her. The scene in which Samia finds out that Wajahat has taken the pills was utterly confusing because if all of this happened in the wee hours of the morning then this was definitely not the sort of routine we were shown in the first few episodes because Samia always woke Aapa Ji first but this time everyone was up and about and Aapa Ji was sleeping. Yes, this happened once before too but that was an accident and after all the drama that followed the incident one would expect Rukhsana to be more careful!
Saba’s change of heart was very relatable, the news of Wajahat’s suicide attempt gave her the courage to do everything she could to stop this engagement because as long as she did not get engaged there was still hope. I understand why Saba’s mother wouldn’t want her to get married to anyone who is this close to Rukhsana. She is obviously scared that her daughter will end up having a life like Samia too if she gets married to Wajahat.
Azfar Rehman has never impressed me with his acting, I have always felt that even if he chooses to do different kind of characters there is always more of Azfar Rehman in the drama than the character he is playing, perhaps because of the similar expressions and outlook. I have always been unable to take him seriously and his acting hasn’t impressed me in this serial too. Tipu Sharif on the other hands looks and plays the character flawlessly. Sara Khan is another actress who has come a long way. She is very convincing as Saba. Overall this drama doesn’t have anything new to offer but the recent developments have given me reason to watch it next week too and I am watching it for Iffat Omer. I want to find out how the status quo in Aapa Ji’s house changes after someone bold and outspoken like Saba becomes a part of it.
How many of you watched these two episodes? Do share your thoughts about them.
Mahira Khan is climbing the staircase to success with a rapid pace. Mahira Khan hasn’t appeared in too many dramas but even then she has made a very good name for herself. Nowadays Mahira Khan is very busy both promoting her Pakistani film internationally and shooting her debut Bollywood film.

Directed by Fahim Burney, co-produced by Hammad Abbas and A&F Productions, and written by Fareeda Masroor and Adison Idrees Maseeh, HUM TV’s recent offering, Tumhari Natasha airs every Friday at 9:10 p.m.
Partly shot in Dubai, Fahim Burney’s signature picture quality, and with Sohaye Ali Abro and Azfar Rehman playing the leads– one glance at the promos, and you didn’t have to be a genius to figure out that that it’s Fahim Burney’s show! Having watched Khoya Khoya Chaand, Yahan Pyar Nahe Hai and Tanhai, I had prepared myself for some over the top situations and clichéd plot twists. It’s definitely not a meaty story and has its share of shortcomings, but if you have a penchant for lighthearted stuff, Tumhari Natasha may be your cup of tea.
The story revolves around Natasha (Sohaye Ali Abro) – a self-assured, blunt and lively young woman. Natasha may have all the material luxuries at her disposal, but she doesn’t have a perfect family. Her bickering parents, Afnan (Waseem Abbas) and Durr-e-Shahwar (Saba Hameed) have come to a parting of the ways. Afnan and Shahwar could never get along because of their contrasting personalities. Shahwar’s a working lady who never got her priorities straight. She always stood aloof from her daughter because her career has always been her first priority. Afnan, on the other hand, proved to be a dutiful father, and showered Natasha with all his love and affection. Since Shahwar was never there for Natasha, Aani, the housemaid, took on the motherly duties. As a result, Natasha dotes on her father and Aani, but has a strained relationship with her mother. Natasha doesn’t have much of a problem with her parents’ divorce because she believes, and rightly so, that her parents were never together in the real sense so their separation was inevitable. After the divorce, Natasha wishes to live with her father, but Afnan plans on flying to America, where his dusri biwi, Shah Bano needs his care and support because she is a cancer patient. The way Natasha puts it, her father used to be a good, compromising husband, but her mother never saw him as an important part of her life. Seeing her mother’s indifference, Natasha herself encouraged her father to go for dusri shadi! I have to say that I don’t like how our dramas always show working mothers in a bad light. There are working women who know how to maintain a healthy balance between their professional life and personal life so what’s with these stereotypes?
Natasha’s family life may be troubled, but her friends are sincere and caring. She confides in her best friend, Sumbal, and the two are so close that Sumbal’s entire family knows Natasha very well and Natasha visits them very often. Shahwar doesn’t approve of Natasha’s frequent visits because she looks down upon Sumbal’s class and background. I understand that the dastarkhuwan pay beth kay daal chawal khanay wala fiasco was meant to convey how appallingly low Shahwar’s mentality is, but I do feel that it could’ve been avoided. In sharp contrast to Natasha’s unhappy and tension filled home environment, Sumbal’s family is picture perfect. They may not be as well-off as Natasha, but they love each other to bits, and are genuinely concerned about one another. Natasha admires Sumbal’s family for their strong bonding and longs for the same khuloos and muhabbat. Sumbal’s brother, Ahmar (Azfar Rehman) is in love with Natasha, but he cannot muster up the courage to confess his love because of Natasha’s social class and the glaring difference between their family backgrounds.
Natasha’s other friend, Kaif (Farhan A. Malhi) is in love with her and has proposed to her, but as much as Natasha likes him ‘as a friend’, she doesn’t harbour any special feelings for him. Natasha believes that Kaif’s proposal has affected their friendship which is why she no longer feels comfortable when he’s around. Natasha repeatedly says that Kaif is her best friend, but from what little we’ve seen, I didn’t quite get the feeling that they were ‘best’ friends at any point.
Natasha is upfront about her views on love and marriage. Since she never saw her parents getting along with each other, she thinks that marriage itself is a mistake. She doesn’t quite believe in love, to which her friend remarks, ‘jin ko muhabbat pay yaqeen nahe hota, unhain hi muhabbat hojati.’ Well, I guess we can see where this is going. Unfortunately though, Natasha’s dad has got some other plans. He wants Natasha to come with him to America, and if she refuses, he wants her to agree to his nephew, Arsalan’s proposal. Natasha doesn’t want to go to America, and she most certainly doesn’t like Arsalan, but she feels that saying yes to Arsalan’s proposal is the only way her father would allow her to stay in Pakistan. Natasha gets engaged to her cousin, but tells her father that she won’t marry Arsalan before finishing her university and her father agrees, unaware of the fact that this is a sham engagement and Natasha doesn’t plan on marrying Arsalan at all. Natasha plans to break off the engagement when the time for marriage approaches. Natasha doesn’t seem to be thinking straight and her plans are obviously very irrational but the way she puts it, mein planning pay believe nahe karti, bus jo dil mein aata hai karleti hun. Aur kuch agar koi problem hobhi jaye tou baad mein fix hojaega. Umm, Geet from Jab We Met, anyone?
You’d think that Arsalan too joins the list of Natasha’s admirers, but thankfully, he is not interested in Natasha at all, in fact, he’s a married man! Arsalan’s father doesn’t have the best of intentions and he coerced his son into getting engaged to Natasha for the sake of property and jaidad. Natasha’s mother may be wrong about a lot of things, but her opposition to this engagement made perfect sense to me because she seems to have an idea about how greedy Afnan’s brother is.
I think Waseem Abbas and Saba Hameed don’t even have to make an effort to slide into their roles because they are always given the same dialogues in almost every project that comes their way! Waseem Abbas is not playing the cruel daddy again so that’s a relief, but he’s playing the disgruntled husband! I don’t seem to get Natasha’s father because on the one hand, he’s parting ways with his wife that too when he has a jawaan daughter, and he also has his dusri biwi waiting for him in America, but on the other, he refuses to give his daughter the liberty to decide who she should get married to. He blindly trusts his brother and nephew so he believes that only Arsalan would prove to be a good husband to Natasha.
Natasha gets to meet Sumbal’s neighbor, Qadri Sahab (Qazi Wajid), an elderly man known for foreseeing the future. Qadri Sahab tells Natasha that there is someone who loves her and genuinely cares about her, and it is with him that Natasha will find true happiness. Natasha begins to think it’s Kaif who really loves her, and though she insists that the two are and should remain just friends, she tells Kaif that if she ever thinks about marrying someone, it’d be him. At this point, Natasha doesn’t have feelings for anyone, but I’m sure that most of us are rooting for Natasha and Ahmar because not only does Ahmar seem very genuine and decent but Sohaye Ali and Azfar Rehman look really cute together.
Anaya Tumhari Hui, Tumhari Natasha etc – am I the only one who finds such titles a little cheesy?
I have no issues with the pace and I hope things don’t get stagnant. The actors do seem comfortable playing the roles they have been given. There is no heavy-duty stuff, and I am not watching Tumhari Natasha to be blown away by the story, direction or the performances. I am watching Tumhari Natasha because sometimes I feel like watching dramas I don’t have to take very seriously.
How many of you are following Tumhari Natasha? What do you think of these two episodes? Voice your views!
On his way to Karachi National Stadium Wasim Akram’s car collided with another car and the driver of that car had an argument with the famous cricketer Wasim Akram. The driver of the car took a gun out and started firing bullets in the air. Luckily Wasim Akram escaped the attack and recorded his statement later on in National Stadium.
The police has not identified the car yet but have assured Wasim Akram that they will help him in any way possible. According to the SSP Police the youngster was most probably drunk. The Police has the registration number of the car which was involved in the incident which would help them in catching the culprits.
Wasim Akram is in a state of shock after this incident. He said that if this can happen to him then it can happen to anyone at all.
Here are some pictures of Wasim Akram talking to the policeman and being escorted by a Police van after the incident:
Ohkay so, it’s all well when it ends well. This episode marked the ending of the drama Mumkin & to be honest, I really liked the way they wrapped the drama up & it makes me say that Mumkin was a very good drama. It’s that sort of a drama that I would recommend to anyone any time of the day. I myself started watching it when the first 10 episodes had already aired so I didn’t find it slow but when I started following it on weekly basis; I felt that the pace slowed down but overall it has been a very nice, decent & family drama with some very realistic & likeable characters & very good direction. I feel now when it has ended, it can be followed & enjoyed even more because now when somebody would watch it, they wouldn’t have to wait for a weeks’ time & this way may be the slower pace after the first 10 episodes wouldn’t make any difference as they’d have a choice to follow it through or skip a few repetitive parts in between. In my opinion, Mumkin was a great drama which had a very appeasing feel to it & those of you who’re considering giving it a go, you guys must if you want to watch a simple drama with a simple story but very nice execution.
I liked that Muneeb was the one who let the truth out because he has always been quite honest & sincere with everyone. Yes, he did lose the plot in between but it was good to see him coming back to his senses pretty soon & understanding what Hina had to say. Muneeb always was an open minded person that is why may be without knowing the reality; he misunderstood Maira because he thought that she didn’t opt for honesty as he expected only that from her. Later when he learnt the truth that Maira was just as oblivious as he was, it was good to see him subsiding his ego, accepting his mistakes & taking charge of the situation to rectify everything.
Hina takes the crown for being the best character in this lot. She showed how a wise & rational woman can turn even the worst of situations into everyone’s favor. Hina showed how big hearted she was because she not only took care of her husband’s promise, image & word she also dealt with Nageen with a lot of patience just because she believed in letting go of others mistakes. I loved the way Hina was a binding force of both the families because she stepped up when the time was right & took a back seat when she felt there was no use of making an issue out of a certain situation. I loved her character & feel that the writer did the best job by writing Hina’s character, she gave an insight in regards to so many aspects & she surely was a respectable character.
I am glad that both Nageen & Natasha understood what a great person Aziz was that he abandoned his own family for their sake & for the sake of a promise he made to Nageen’s brother. Nageen & Natasha used to be so arrogant because they thought they had everything but when Nageen understood that the one she was holding onto wasn’t hers right from the beginning, she decided to accept everything & forgive Aziz even though he himself was a victim. Even though Nageen & Natasha were the negative Nancies of this drama, they still weren’t completely bad because I always liked the way they respected Aziz & how their whole world revolved around him. They were possessive about Aziz & that is why they would get annoyed if someone tried to get close to him but that also makes their attitude & nature understandable because that’s how they were.
Overall, Mumkin was a very decent family play that I used to enjoy watching after Diyar-e-Dil on Tuesdays, it had a very comforting feel to it even though there was some part of it that revolved around family politics, nothing was done in a bad taste & everything was done realistically. Mehreen’s character was sweet too & so was Maira’s. I loved their bonding but the best one for me was the bonding that both Hina & Maira shared. It was a breath of fresh air seeing a mother & daughter in law duo getting along so well with each other. The direction of the drama & the acting done by all the actors is what I genuinely liked in this drama & oh I must say, the pairing of Junaid Khan & Sara Khan was great & she looked gorgeous throughout the play. Sadia Faisal was very convincing as Natasha & she looked beautiful too. Irsa Ghazal was graceful & she carried herself really well. Each & everyone contributed in making Mumkin a very good drama & all the supporting characters/actors were great too. Please share your thoughts about the journey that ended last night & let me know what did you guys like the most about the drama Mumkin?
The much awaited film “Manto” is finally in the final stages so the director and producers are revealing more about the characters. Saba Qamar plays the role of Noor Jahan. She is seen in an avatar that depicts the era of that time. Nadia Afghan plays the role of “Soghandi”, a role inspired from one of Manto’s Afsana. Hamayun Saeed will be giving a cameo appearance in the film. Faysal Qureshi plays the character of a radio artist. Sarmad Khoosat plays the role of Manto in the film. Mahira Khan plays the role of an “idiosyncratic monkey master” in the film. Apart from these actors Nimra Bucha, Arjumand Rahim, Hina Bayat, Rehan Sheikh, Sania Saeed, Shamoon Abbasi and some other prominent actors.
*Oh My God*, *Whistles*, *Hi5*, Whistles & some more Whistles! Ohkay so (on high demand of my dear readers), this episode of Diyar-e-Dil was absolutely brilliant, I loved it, I loved it, I loveddd it. It was so well directed & right from the beginning till the end, it offered us everything that we all were waiting for. I must thank the director Haseeb Hassan for directing Diyar-e-Dil oh so brilliantly because this episode really made me say ‘itnay arsay baad kisi drama ko dekhne ka maza aa gaya’.
Even though this whole episode was a highlight of the drama for me but the scene that I really loved was the showdown between Faarah, Ruhina, Tajjamul & Zohra. I am so glad that Faarah has shown her real side; the side that we all loved before, the side which shows that she is a logical, reasonable & sane person who knows how to put two & two together & the side that shows that Faarah also knows how to differentiate right from wrong. I am so glad that even though it took her a lot of time & courage to say these words, she waited for the right time to make her family realize that she isn’t oblivious of what they have been doing since the day she got married to Wali & Agha Jaan decided to bear her expenses. It was a high time Faarah told her mother that she won’t fall prey to her emotional blackmailing & I was over the moon when I heard her say those words because the way Ruhina along with Tajjamul planned to grab a chunk of property from Agha Jaan was something that they deserved to get insulted for. Faarah has a high self-esteem & dignity that is why she was always in a state of confusion when she saw her mother using Agha Jaan’s money but never ever acknowledging him for all that he has been doing for them. It was a perfect time for Faarah to tell everyone that she is Behroz’s daughter & not Ruhina’s. I just didn’t want Faarah to stop Ruhina from leaving & I thought it was very wise of her to do so because this way she told her mother that all these tactics won’t make her budge anymore & that she has had enough. Even though Faarah might not have understood that all the love Agha Jaan has been showering her with is genuine, but for starters she does understand that Ruhina is using her & her mother has been wrong right from day one.
I am glad that Tajjamul & Zohra also faced the brunt for the things they have been doing. ‘Lagai Bhujai’ is just exactly what Zohra has done all these years but Ruhina must take the crown for maligning everyone’s mind against her husband Behroz & who else could’ve been a perfect person to say that to Ruhina’s face except Faarah? I think now when Ruhina will take some time off & think about all the things that Faarah has said, she will understand that she has lost all the respect that Faarah had for her. I loved the exchange of glance between Tajjamul & Zohra when Faarah said she will decide what she would do with her bank balance, it shows how shallow & mean they are because they absolutely don’t care about Ruhina & all that they were worried about was the money they could earn through Faarah. That whole confrontation was thoroughly well-done & without over-doing anything, they conveyed Faarah’s state of mind with absolute perfection. I must say Maya Ali stole the show in the first half of the episode because this is the Faarah I was waiting for & she elaborated her perfectly in this episode. From now on, I just hope we get to see a strong-headed & composed Faarah & she doesn’t go back to being a toddler, because that’s not what we want to see & given the circumstances, she has to deal with everything with a lot more maturity.
Even though it was quite a short scene but I am so glad they always show Zarmeenay having a say or two about the current scenario. Her thoughts on Agha Jaan’s reports & her fear of losing her grandfather were heart-touching. Similarly, Arjumand’s conversations about each & every member of the family every time show that she is an important part of Wali’s life & she is the one Wali knows he can rely on. Even though he doesn’t want to burden her with the bitter truths but I find their interactions very genuine & sweet.
Ohkay, now shall I talk about the scene at which I & my sisters had a whistle-spree & a round of applause? Yes, I am talking about the scene where Wali, all dressed in a leather jacket goes to bring his ‘wife’ to Agha Jaan? Oh My God! Osman Khalid Butt NAILED IT. His body language, his expressions, the throw of his voice & the wrath in his eyes, each & every emotion of Wali in that particular moment was conveyed perfectly by OKB. As far as I heard, the writer here changed the scenario & made it a lot more dramatic & I am so glad that the writer did it because it this was a life-changing moment for Faarah & this scene had to be a dramatic game-changer. I feel the execution of these scenes justified why the writer must’ve changed the whole scenario & who doesn’t like a bit more drama within a drama? :)
I am so glad that finally Ruhina & Faarah have parted because this way, Faarah will get to have a clear vision & a clean perspective of her surroundings. She won’t be having a negative person to malign her heart & mind against her own people. She now wouldn’t have to worry about what her mother would think if she drew closer to her people. I am glad that Ruhina & Faarah parted on such a bitter note because this was necessary for Faarah to understand that if there’s someone that Ruhina genuinely cares about, that is Ruhina herself & no one else, not even her daughter. Ruhina is an insecure woman, who didn’t get the satisfaction even after snatching Behroz away from Agha Jaan, that is why she speaks about how Agha Jaan is doing the same with her in regards to Faarah. Ruhina’s insecurity also gets justified because every time she is made to face her wrongdoings, she opts for an easy way & walks out every single time because deep down she also knows she has nothing to justify her stance & everything that Faarah says is accurate about her. Ruhina knows how to play the blame game but when she is at the receiving end, she doesn’t have the guts to face it & accept it.
I loved all the conversations in this episode because all the dialogues were spot on. Faarah’s repeated mention about her money, her property & her bank balance hit the bull’s-eye because it showed that she has understood why even Tajjamul & Zohra were so much involved in hers & Ruhina’s matters. I must say this again, Maya Ali stole the show tonight, followed by our angry young man OKB. I am so glad that the casting directors chose Maya & OKB for the characters of Faarah & Wali & I am so glad that these two actors did justice to these characters. I can’t wait for the next episode already because this is getting so intense.
Oh! Before wrapping the review up, I must commend the director for paying special attention to detail, like the backdrop in the hospital scene took me back to the time when Arjumand was admitted to the hospital, because the furniture & the backdrop fitted that era & now when Arjumand & Wali were having a conversation in the hospital again, it depicted the current era. Also, the calendar showed the year 2014 in Ruhina & Irum’s scene because there’s still some story left which shows that a few months or even an year is left to be covered in this drama. Hats off to the whole team of Diyar-e-Dil for giving us quality entertainment after such a long long time. :) Please share your thoughts about this episode of Diyar-e-Dil & tell me again how amazing it was. :)
Sanam Saeed has played some very strong and memorable characters in Pakistani dramas. Sanam Saeed is also a well-known model but as Sanam Saeed revealed in one of her interviews she has never enjoyed modelling because she was a tom boy since her childhood so dressing up and looking glamorous isn’t something she wanted to do.
Sanam Saeed also said, “While choosing a project I look for character-driven roles. Looking beautiful on-screen is never a priority. There are girls who enjoy looking beautiful on television but I am not one of them. There are already a lot of vices in our society, dramas should not only show these vices but give people solutions to end them too.”
Sanam Saeed believes that being in this position she has a social responsibility. She said that she feels very happy when people tell her that their lives changed for the better because of the characters she plays in her dramas. “Women can relate to the characters I play on television and if these characters show them a way out of their tough situations, it makes me happy,” said the actress.
Sanam Saeed said that she never wanted a big wedding but the event was totally opposite of what she had always wanted. Sanam Saeed said the biggest achievement of her life was when a girl tells her that she changed her life because of her dramas.
Nida Yasir and Yasir Nawaz celebrated the first birthday of their youngest son Balaj in their home. The birthday party was held at the residence of the celebrity couple and it was mostly a family affair.
Hamayun Saeed started his career as an actor and now after so many years he owns and runs one of the biggest production houses in the country. Hamayun Saeed’s name has been associated with many actresses he has worked with. He is one of those actors who people spread a lot of rumors about.
Hamayun Saeed was invited as a guest in HUM Sitaray’s show Tonight With HSY in which he revealed why people were always busy spreading rumors about him. He said that the reason for this was that people love “masala”, they love to gossip about others especially when the gossip is of this nature. He also said that another reason for this was that most of the roles he played with his heroines were romantic in nature so people confuse his real life with reel life. He also explained that he is always friendly with his heroines on set that is also why people get the wrong impression. People will never say that they are good friends or colleagues but they will say that they are having an affair. “People confuse on-screen chemistry with something else,” explained Hamayun Saeed.
At the same time Hamayun said that he has never said that he is very pious or that he has never liked anyone. “I am not as much of a romantic as people make it look like. Some of it is true but most of it isn’t,” said the actor. Hamayun Saeed also said that his wife was very uncomfortable with all the “admirers” he has but she is used to it now and it is not that big an issue between them anymore.
Drama serial “Tum Rahe Na Tum’s ” Title has been changed to “Aiteraz” and it will be airing soon on ARY Digital. The drama has been written by Samira Fazal and directed by Aamir Yousuf. Famous actors like Sana Javed, Imran Abbas, Gohar Rasheed and Sania Saeed will be seen working in the drama. The first promo of the drama is already out which reveals that this drama will be based on a love story with Imran Abbas and Sana Javed playing the lead roles.
Sana Javed has been seen recently in plays like Goya, Paiwand and Dil Ka Kya Rung karun while Imran Abbas was seen in Alvida and Mera Naam Yousuf Hai. This is the first time that Sana Javed and Imran Abbas will be seen together in a drama. Both actors are well loved by the viewers.
Feroze Khan and Sajjal Ali were last seen together in ARY’s drama serial Chup Raho in which their characters had a very complicated relationship. The drama ended with the death of Feroze Khan’s character. The viewers were very impressed by Feroze Khan’s debut performance. Also, many people liked watching Sajjal Ali and Feroze Khan as an on screen couple. The good news for all such people is that this jodi will be seen in the upcoming drama serial Gul-e-Rana again. Not much has been revealed about the writer, director and rest of the cast but we know for sure that the Chup Raho jodi is playing the lead in the drama.
The cast of the film is currently busy shooting for the drama in Nathia Gali and Murree. Feroze Khan is enjoying his time there and keep his fans updated while he is at it.
Feroze Khan and Sajjal Ali are also good friends in real life. There were also rumors that these two stars were romantically involved.
No one replaces anyone but everyone make his/her own place whether you belong to any field. Not only in your personal lives but in professional life as well people arrives and departs because life is all about moving ahead but keeping in mind what you have done in your past.
If we talk about Entertainment Industry then in this industry as well artists make their entries and leave when they think it is now inappropriate for them to continue working for this Industry. Now If I talk about Pakistani Drama Industry specifically then it is very dynamic and competitive. Basically in Pakistani showbiz the ratio of entrance of a new actor and actress is 1:4 where one actor steps in four actresses steps against him. That’s the reason why most of our dramas are female dominated. Hence in our drama industry actresses leave the industry more often than actors and that’s why we are still watching Adnan Siddiqui pairing with young actresses like mawra hocane, arij fatyma and armeena rana khan and even Sajid Hassan pairing with zhalay sarhadi and sabreen hisbani in soap “Chohti si ghalat fehmi”.
Usually Marriage is the sole reason for our actresses to leave the industry. Thus today’s topic is to list down those actresses who had left drama industry after their marriage and are being badly missed on screen.
Sanam Baloch: Once a household name of our industry. Actresses like Sanam Baloch are extremely rare in Drama industry, only few new comers I have noticed can reach the level of her acting like Sana Javed and Sonya Hussain. Well I cannot say that she was the queen of drama industry because it is Saba Qamar from the start but there is no doubt that she had defined her acting as the benchmark in drama industry. Sanam Baloch played each and every leading role impeccably; there were hardly any loopholes in her acting. She had fulfilled the demands of each and every character tremendously and had conformed herself well according to the nature of character in every drama. Dastaan, Durr-e- shahwar, Daam and Kankar are among her masterpieces.
Her last appearance was in drama serial Kankar and after her marriage with Abdullah Farhatullah she left drama industry and decided to pursue her career as a host. She is currently hosting morning show on ARY News. Industry still looks incomplete without her.
Ayeza Khan: Ayeza Khan is one of those actresses who left drama Industry after marriage when she was at the peak of her career. If we ponder over Ayeza Khan’s career then it is well proven that popularity doesn’t require hard work but luck as well. Despite appearing in several dramas and telefilms Ayeza Khan went unnoticed among audience. She had indeed worked hard and struggled a lot but due to typecasting her popularity graph remained steady for years until she performed the main lead in superhit drama “Pyaray Afzal” with Hamza Ali Abbasi.
Pyaray Afzal helped her to gain immense popularity and also given her diverse portfolio. Furthermore her wedding with Danish Taimoor was also the most popular wedding of 2014 thereby making her the 2nd most searched celebrity on Google Pakistan in 2014. Today Ayeza Khan bags the most number of likes on Facebook which is 2.9 million. After Marriage Ayeza Khan left the drama industry, her last appearance on television was in drama serial “Jab We Wed” aired on Urdu 1. For sure no one can fill her space in industry; I do hope that she will make her come back soon but it seems impossible now as she is now a mother of a cute daughter.
Syra Yousuf: Assessing the industry in 2011 and 2012, you will find Syra yousuf ranked among the top notch actresses, people were literally crazy about her especially about her smile. It didn’t took too long for Syra Yousuf to get prominent among audience, she came and conquered the industry with her debut performance in drama serial “Mera Naseeb”. Then with dramas like “Bilquees Kaur” and “Tanhaiyan Naye silsilay” Syra yousuf had become an important personage of our drama Industry.
Alas! Her good fortune didn’t last long as she started losing her charm in acting. After her marriage with shehroz she made a comeback in industry with two dramas “Darmiyan” and “Rabaru”, both dramas wrecked in all departments and her acting in both dramas was utterly disappointing. Rabaru was her last drama and after that she decided to leave the drama industry. I can understand that being a mother of a cute daughter “Nooreh” it is now impossible for her to return to industry but she is another actress who I badly on screen and I wish that she may decide to return soon with some good projects.
Alishba Yousuf: When someone takes her name then first drama pops in my mind is “Mein Abdul Qadir Hoon”. Alishba’s acting career had remained a victim of fickleness. In drama serial “Mein Abdul Qadir hoon” she failed to meet the threshold of acting, it was really under par however this drama proved to be her signature drama. After that she really groomed herself as an actress, her performance in “Aik nazar meri taraf” and “Taakey ki ayegi baraat” was undoubtedly phenomenal but then again she failed to show a spark in her acting in a sister duo drama “Tanhaiyan Naye silsilay” which is the sequel of old PTV superhit drama “Tanhaiyan”. For some reason Alishba never got much fame as her sister Syra still possess, although she worked in more projects than Syra.
Alishba Yousuf’s last appearance was in drama serial “Phechan” aired on A-plus in 2014 after that there is no news of her appearance in any upcoming projects. In my opinion Alishba is much talented than Syra and I want her to make come back in Industry with a big bang as she is also the one who I missed badly on screen.
Ainy Jaffri: Ok probably some of you might not be a fan of Ainy Jaffri, but this Pakistani Bella had really done some fine piece of work in her acting career. Ainy is not only pretty but she is confident as well as an actress. Her role in a short “dreamers” was indeed appreciable. She depicts the role of college girl Maya who was in extreme depression and curiosity when she starts receiving text from Mr Anonymous claiming that he knows everything about her. At one point she suspects Mickey who candidly flirts her every time but on a second thought she doubted her best friend Agha as well.
Her next two projects were “Badtameez” and “Meri Behen Maya” aired on ARY Digital. She received attention from audience when she played a vital role in drama serial “Aseer zadi” aired in 2013 on Hum tv, she rose to further eminence after performing a supporting role in Humayun Saeed’s film “Mein hoon Shahid Afridi”. After getting married with Faris Rehman (Equity analyst at fidelity Investments, London) in 2014 she left drama industry and showbiz as well. Ainy Jaffri is a complete actress and industry still feel her absence.
So which actress or actor do you miss on screen? Please share your views.
PS: SORRY FOR WRITING LESS ARTICLES MY LIFE IS GOING ABSOLUTELY HECTIC. LIFE OF A PI WAS BETTER THAN LIFE OF AN ACCOUNTANT :-p
Lux Style Awards are held every year in which everyone associated with entertainment who has contributed something positive to it is given some award or nominated so that they feel appreciated. This year LSA completely ignored Bashar Momin in all categories although the team is adamant that the drama deserved to be nominated in some category. Faysal Qureshi in particular has raised his voice and shared how offended he was that Bashar Momin was not nominated in any category.
Instep magazine which is in a way related to Geo television because the owners are the same talked to Faysal Qureshi on the issue and he said,
“This person on my TV show told me that he was making a documentary on the importance of acting studios in Pakistan for which he had traveled to different places including India to see how their studios work. And while he was in India, he went to Anupam Kher’s acting school where the students were being shown Bashar Momin. So given that the serial is being taught across the border, is a trendsetter in direction, lighting and visual techniques, which are now being copied by other Pakistani dramas, and has a huge fan following, it at least deserved some sort of recognition.”
He also said,
“Even if they didn’t want to nominate me, they should have at least nominated the writer, the director or the other members of the cast who performed brilliantly. Even if they weren’t going to award us in the end, the serial deserved nomination in at least one of the categories.”
Instep raised the issue and also said that LSA Jury had been unjust. In a way this is Geo television’s protest because they wanted Bashar Momin to be nominated.
Anyone who knows a little bit about Mahira Khan would know that Feeha Jamshed the designer is not only the one whose outfits Mahira is seen wearing mostly but she is also her childhood friend. Mahira Khan makes it a point that everyone knows that she prefers wearing Feeha Jamshed’s designs so she is like the brand ambassador for the designer. Is this choice based on the childhood friendship or because Mahira Khan really prefers the outfits because of the fabric and designs?
Feeha Jamshed made it clear that Mahira was not wearing her designs because she asked Mahira Khan to endorse her brand but it was Mahira’s own choice. She said that Mahira was free to wear whatever she wanted. Feeha Jamshed said, “I am not the kind of designer who would ask somebody to wear me. Mahira comes to me when she wants something out of my label just like she would go to Elan when she wants to wear their outfit.”
Mahira Khan has also been the showstopper for Feeha Jamshed in many Fashion Shows. That is why Feeha said, “Mahira does represent the Feeha Jamshed woman – a woman who just walks in her own tune; there will be a rat-race on the road in front of her but she’ll take the curb. She is different from the rest. And Mahira is that. She is very chilled with her life and very self-assured.”
Usually people would think that someone like Mathira who is continuously giving people something to talk about would not care what people think about her but that is not the case. While talking on a talk show Mathira said that she was sick and tired of the way people judged each other in Pakistan and especially her. Mathira also said that when she shifted to Pakistan from Zimbabwe “It was very hard for me to change my mentality. I used to argue with my mother all night and my mother used to say that you can never meet the social norms in Pakistan.”
In the interview Mathira said that her mother used to tell her not to wear short dresses because the mentality of Pakistanis was different from that of the people of Zimbabwe. She further said, “There are all sorts of people in Zimbabwe. There are Hindus, there is poverty and Muslims live there too but they are not judgmental. People there do not judge your character based on what you wear.”
Mathira said that if a girl wears shorts people will continue staring at her legs like it is a “free deal”. Further on about the people in general Mathira said, “They can’t love or hate properly.” Mathira is very unhappy with people judging her all the time. She says that she feels sometimes that she is a politician and not a entertainer.
While talking to the Express Tribune Mathira said about working across the border, “Indian directors have been welcoming and really want me to their future projects. Projects tu aate jate rehte hein but family always comes first.”
Model and singer Ayyan Ali has been in the news for the past few months for all the wrong reasons. Now that the model is out of the prison on bail she wants to create a good image for herself. In an attempt to regain the respect she lost due to the money laundering incident Ayyan decided to spend her 22nd birthday with children in Edhi Foundation and SOS Village. Ayyan also distributed gifts among the children.
Tabassum Mughal is a known Pakistani designers who has been invited as a guest in many Morning Shows too. Recently one of her clients who wasn’t a very rich woman but wanted a designer dress for her daughter has brought to light the real face of the designer who appears to be very nice on television. The client has spread the incident via facebook and twitter. She says that when she went to the designer to get her daughter’s clothes, they were not ready. She protested a little and ask the designer to finish the work on time. The designer did not like this and she asked her general manager and few more people there to drag the woman out of the place.
The general manager and other men beat the woman up with chairs, kicked her, pulled her hair and dragged her out of the place. The exact ‘orders’ of the designer were “Maaro iss Rickshaw wali aurat ko” because the client had come on a rickshaw. She also said that people who travel in rickshaws don’t deserve to be her clients.
This is how the whole incident was narrated by someone who is related to the victim:
She also posted pictures of the injury:
Tabbasum Mughal posted her part of the story in these words:
This post was deleted after few hours for unknown reasons. Many other people are coming out and saying that they had been treated badly by the designer. They were not beaten but they were verbally abused. People are gathering up in Karachi Clifton area tomorrow to protest against the designer so that she can be brought to justice.
A page dedicated to the incident has been created on facebook but the admin says that he/she is getting threats from “friends” of Tabbasum Mughal.
