Tips To Become An Interesting Individual

0

It is important to be an interesting person, and there are a lot of ways to be interesting. Interesting people get noticed and favored. People love to listen to them and talk to them. Moslty individuals want to be interesting for meeting new people, dates, job interviews and for their own contentment. Keeping up on what gives you that spark in life is ultimately what makes you interesting. So find yourself and read up on the ways to be interesting and ways to show it. In this article you will find some easy to use and perfect ways to make yourself feel interesting. One of the first ways to be interesting is to do what you say. It’s so easy to say something, but action is what truly shows people what you are capable of doing. If you take the action you say you will, people will respect you and see you as interesting. It gives you a lot of talking points to mention that you ran a marathon or recently skydived. If you usually say what you do and do not make up stories then people automatically trust you and try to be with you so this is a very useful tip.
 what-you-do-what-you-say

It is also easy to be interesting if you have a hobby or two and keep up with them. Find what you love to do and do it. You may like different things from when you were a kid, and that’s okay. Learn up about your hobbies as well, and you’ll have a lot to talk about. Reading books, going out to party, travelling, listening to music, watching seasons or movies, there are thousands of things you can choose from and see what you like to do. This way you will find someone with common interests and talk about it. Another way to be interesting is to keep up with the news. So much is always going on in the world, and many people do not even know it. Find a few news websites or channels you most enjoy, or get an app or two on your smartphones. Try to remain unbiased about issues at first until you know the entire story and are able to formulate your own opinion. Engaging in some type of art or entertainment can also help. Attending plays and sports games, going to museums and concerts, or movies and cultural festivals is another way to be interesting. Culture is what ties people together. With culture, one thing, food, a song or a cheer can connect you with someone else. It’s a fantastic thought. So amongst all of the malls, bars and parties, don’t forget to check out something cultural as well.

Knowledge is amazing. If you’re really into something, it’s interesting to let others learn a bit here and there from you. If you’re really into making something or reading, study up on the types of materials or authors and their stories. The internet is full of content. If you know where to go, with a few clicks you can read some great articles that will give you interesting knowledge.
Some of the best stories are retold. Listen to your friends and the people you meet for their stories, or stories that they share. You’ll learn something new everytime you listen carefully. You will also be able to pick up on what makes that person interesting to you, which will help you shape your character and become more interesting to others. For me, inspiring people are some of the most interesting people and i usually get easily attraacted to people who inspire me. See what you find interesting. Spending time alone is very important for your self-awareness and character. By spending time alone, you’re allowing yourself to engage in your hobbies, learn more and see what your life is really all about. Spending time alone is necessary to find out who you are, and gain true confidence in yourself, your ideas and your ways of living. So try to take out sometime from you busy routine to spend alone and see what you really are or aspire to be. Not everybody likes spending as much time alone each week as others, but you will gain so much in even a little amount of time and learn to recharge a bit in your own space. Try it once and see what you feel. Do let us know about your suggestions as they are truly valued.

It is only a few months ago that I shared about this upcoming movie which tends to survive pretty well in the Pakistani film industry and here I am back again with the latest update about the movie ‘Tamana’. The movie will soon be making its way to the Pakistani cinemas and will be releasing on Pakistan day, that is, March 23rd, 2014.

The film comes under the banner of Summit Entertainment, while produced by Sarah Tareen and directed by Steven Moore.

The cast of the film comprises of a close-knit group of actors who have strong grounds in theatre and television. The charismatic Salman Shahid, who is fresh-off the release, remarked that he had done some theatre with Omair Rana and has worked with Mehreen Raheel’s mother Seemi Raheel.

The story revolves around a character that is been played by Salman Shahid of a film director who loves to play real life games and it is Hameed Sheikh who falls in as his prey.

The film has already received considerable acclaim due to its soundtrack. The track, Koi Dil Mein, which has been sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and composed by Sahir Ali Bagga, won the Best Music Talent in Film Award in the 14th London South Asian Film Festival 2012’s BAFTA ceremony.

Though Umar’s luck has had been a real tough one recently, especially for the charge of violating the traffic signal and misbehaving with the cops on duty, Umar’s father-in-law has found to be speaking about this upcoming marriage. Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 11!

0

Another one of interesting episodes that we got to see. No matter what but I am enjoying this show a lot despite the simple predictable story, what I like the most is the direction & the production value they have put to make this drama what it is.

I really & actually thought that the post-wedding scenes of Aiza & Shehryar would be awkward to see but I am amazed at how they have covered their relation, their growing feelings & the love they both are experiencing towards each other. For this I must commend Shehzad Nawaz & Mehwish Hayat for acting it out so decently that I found myself smiling when they both shared a screen space. Aiza has fallen in love with her husband & Sheheryar is in awe of finding a perfect soul-mate, which is absolutely adorable.

I thought I would sympathize with Saad because his first love went bad & to be honest I really do want to feel something for him & his suffering but his unmanly attitude isn’t worth sympathizing with. I think Saad’s character is the weakest in the whole family because before he fell in love, he was too self-centered to actually see what Laiba felt for him & now after he has fallen for Aiza & she has gotten married, he is still ready to think about the ways of winning her love. He is even misbehaving with his mother for no good reason & hovering around Aiza like a Zombie, not at all giving a thought as to what others might think about it. Seriously, how much meaner can one get? Really, the fact that he is unable to cope up with the reality of his love being unrequited is shown appropriately but it’s just his character which is making it intolerable to actually feel anything for him.

I appreciated the fact that there was less emphasis on Laiba this time but in the beginning of the episode she got her fair share of putting the blame on Aiza conveniently. I must say both Laiba & Saad suit each other by all means because both of them are spoiled snots who are testing Aiza’s patience for nothing. She decided what she had to & they are ready to make her life miserable. Cuckoo is being mean to the core & for all the wrong reasons because she just can not get Shehryar & she needs to understand this. I thought Aiza would be submissive to everyone’s idiocy because she would want to make her mark in the family but providentially she is doing it when needed. She isn’t buying all that Cuckoo has to say because no doubt, Aiza has become a permanent member of the family whereas Cuckoo is still a guest in the house. I enjoyed their verbal spats because this sheds light a bit more on Aiza’s character that she won’t entertain any sorts of taunts coming from someone who has no position in the family. Finally, Shehryar also gave Cuckoo a shut-up call which was definitely needed but sadly she still doesn’t know where to stop.

All in all, it was another interesting episode. I hope to see less of Saad’s frowning depressing face & wish he goes on another trip where he gets his attitude fixed. Cuckoo it’s a high time you must pack your bags & find another rich cousin to woo & leave the newlywed happy couple alone. I just can’t wait to find out what would be Shahryar’s reaction to Saad’s painting & the little note of confession about his feelings towards Aiza. I hope nothing goes wrong with their relation plus I think Aiza must tell everything to Shehryar about how Saad felt for him & how she never considered him as a potential life partner. Can’t wait till next Wednesday!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Interview of Kashmiri Leader Yaseen Malik and his Pakistani Wife Mishal from Urdu Monthly Gourmet Magazine done by Zoha Imran.

India the country we know for its music, art, films and film stars. But there is also a flip side to this soft image of India. Apart from films and music India is also a big military power, and it is using it to suppress Kashmiri’s right to self determination through extreme brutality and savageness for past 67 years . Today is 5th February, Kashmir Day, India’s illegitimate occupation of Kashmir is still a reality, lets hope Kashmiris get their right for self determination to decide their fate.

Useful Beauty Tips

0

In a hectic life style of today, it is very hard for th girls totake out time for their beauty and care. Simplifying ones lifestyle including beauty tips is also very necessary. If you resolved to be more organized this year or just want to shave some time off of your morning routine, here are some excellent tricks to simplify your beauty routine. These tips will help you to get gorgeous in a faster, easier and so much more enjoyable way.  One of the easiest ways to simplify your beauty routine is to shower the night before. This way, you’re all clean, you can wash and dry your hair and you’ll be all ready to go the next morning. If hair is not washed then it gives you an untidy look. the hair looks oily or frizzy and it is hard to manage them. This is why taking a bath is suggested. It will not only give you a fresh look but it will at the same time give you a positive energy to feel beautiful and fresh.

Another one of the most time consuming parts of our beauty routine can be sifting through tons and tons of beauty products. Like most women, I own way too many beauty products for my own good and having too many options is not only overwhelming, but they get in the way. It is very important to go through your makeup bag, your vanity and wherever else you happen to have makeup. Throw out old makeup and separate your everyday products from your evening or special occasion makeup. Washing your face gives you a neat look. I’m sure many people with certain good skin types can skip washing their faces in the morning, but I have a super oily T-zone that begs to be washed after I wake up. If you can skip this step of washing your face then you are one step closer to getting ready to head out the door.
makeup-ba--z

Speed up your beauty routine even more by setting out your beauty essentials so they’re within easy reach when you need them. Keep your foundation, blush, mascara, eye liner, lip products and makeup brushes all together. If you don’t have room to lay them all out, you can also keep them in a separate container on the counter or in a drawer. So much easier than looking for products in an overstuffed bag where you yourself forget what you were searching for. Apart from this, we all have certain looks we like to create and there are typically different products we can use to achieve those looks. In order to streamline your makeup routine, always reach for the fast-drying and easiest to apply products. If you’re faster at using pencil liner in contrast to gel liner, keep your pencil liners handy. If you have an eye shadow palette that you can use on your lids and brows, give it prime real estate on your vanity. Also, if you have a beauty tool like a Beauty Blender or your favorite brush that you can use to blend multiple products like foundation and concealer, place it front and center. In this way you will be able to manage your time and use proper materials at the time of need.
Mascara-Magic

For those days where you’re in a crazy hurry and just can’t be bothered to mess around with countless eye shadows, skip it. Having your brows groomed and applying eye liner and some mascara will make a bigger impact than using eye shadow. If you feel naked without wearing something on your lids, swipe a couple of neutral colors on your lids. That will instantly give you a complete new look. Lastly, if you want to speed up your beauty routine, use mascara sparingly. Some ladies choose to skip mascara on lower lashes since they tend to smudge and takes extra time. If you still want to show your lower lashes some love, make sure your dab your mascara wand with a tissue to remove excess product so you get a smooth application. Depending on what your personal beauty routine is like, I’m sure you can come up with lots of other ways to streamline it and simplify it. Do not spend your entire morning applying beauty products when you can take some shortcuts and spend some extra time stretching, enjoying a hot beverage or just mentally planning your day ahead. Do you have any tricks you use that saves time in your beauty routine? If yes then do share them with us as your suggestions are highly valued and appreciated.

Ranjish Hi Sahi – Episode 14

0

Tonight’s episode was much better than the last one; the story moved forward and the changes in Hiba, made her character seem more believable. Arsal is back in Tooba’s life, so there is something to look forward to. The chance meeting between Arsal and Tooba was a very pleasant surprise; I really wasn’t expecting them to meet like this. I am so glad that Arsal is not out of the picture. The picture quality of the serial was superb like always. There were times however when I felt like a little too much of what we were seeing on-screen was being spelled out by the characters at every step. For instance when Hiba goes for grocery shopping, it was too obvious that she really wanted to buy the pack of wafers, coco pops and all the other things which she was tempted to buy but she couldn’t do so because things were nothing like the way they were before. I understood Hiba’s feelings right there and then. Later on when she shared with Tooba how it felt like when she went out for grocery shopping, I felt like that scene lost its charm because sometimes showing is better than telling!

rhs3
The thing which I liked about this episode the most was the way we saw Hiba giving up after the visit to the Barrister’s office. She was even willing to rely on Kamal because she knew too well that the two of them could not cope alone. This scene also gave me the hope that Kamal Hassan may not have left for the US, which means he will be back soon. Did Hiba really say that the cab driver asked her for five rupees? That is what I understood and I found the amount unrealistic.

rhs5
I love the way Tooba’s character is shaping up; her positive attitude and bravery coupled with a very apt portrayal, makes her character very likeable. Tooba may not be outspoken like Hiba but she is wise, practical and caring. She has taken up Yumna’s role in Hiba’s life. The way Hiba keeps on inviting strangers to her apartment so that they can help her out can prove to be very dangerous! She obviously has no idea what can be the repercussions of her actions.

rhs1

The relationship between the two sisters has always been shown in a very relatable manner and this episode was no different either, Unlike the last episode, the sad parts were not overdone in most of the scenes. The way Tooba was shown confused and clueless before her interview was a good addition. I like how the director highlighted the fact that Tooba is still the girl she once was ; she lacks confidence and finds it hard to face the world, otherwise a complete transformation in her character would have made it hard to believe.

I was missing the romantic element of this play but now that Arsal and Tooba have met, we will be seeing how their love story unfolds in the future….definitely looking forward to the next episode.

Khul ke GEO

0

Is it just me or is GEO TV committed to depressing the daylights out of us? Seems like the channel has taken it upon itself to churn out serial after serial focusing exclusively on how bad things really are in our society! The titles of the play are usually enough to discourage me from watching on- Behkawa, Adhoori Aurat, Mi Raqsam, NUMM, Baanjh, Zindagi Udaas Hai, Kalmoohi… Just yesterday they aired a new show- Do Qadam Durr Theh. I was bored enough to sit through an episode and OH.MY.GOD- yet another tragedy revolving around Ayeza Khan.

zuht

The serials on GEO TV never really have any strong message so after 20 odd episodes of tears and depression, the audience is left feeling frustrated. The production values are low, I’m never fully satisfied with the sound and overall, it feels like everything they air is so last season.

numm

I always imagined GEO to be a play on the word- JIYO (to live life to the full) but sadly it seems to mean the exact opposite. I like watching serials with a powerful script, and most importantly those that are headed in some sane direction whatsoever. Whether it’s the lack of good writers, directors and producers, the finished product lacks the appeal that serials aired on HUM and even to some extent ARY have to offer.

AA

The only trend that I notice is how utterly depressing life can be- and they have locked in Ayeza Khan for a life-long contract of crying her eyes out. The poor girl has far more potential than wasting herself crying.

With competition growing fierce, it’s high time they rethink their approach and introduce quality content instead of the same old, rehashed stories they’ve been torturing us with for the longest time!

Is GEO one of your favorite channels? What do you like/ dislike about it?

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 20 – The Emotional Outburst!

0

This show has turned out to be a huge disappointment, and has simply failed to reach our expectations. Once again, we got to see more of Natasha’s scenes and less of Qudsiya and Aaliyan. Natasha was happy and relieved after the abortion, and she simply did not care about Aaliyan’s feelings in this matter. The only one supporting her decision was Rana; Dado was against this decision and tried to talk some sense into Rano but to no avail. For Natasha, her career is more important than anything else. Sultan simply refrained from getting involved in this matter altogether.

Shamsa and Aaliyan’s confrontation was pretty emotional as Aaliyan finally let out his frustration and anger that had been building inside him for years. Shamsa could not believe her ears when Aaliyan accused her of leaving him for another man. She had no clue that Sultan had brainwashed him in this way. The emotional outburst left her shaken and it seriously affected her health. Ohkay, so another surprise for me was the news that Shamsa has cancer. I knew that she was extremely sick, but did they ever mention that she had cancer before this episode? Maybe I missed this piece of information if it had been mentioned in the previous episodes.

Another major disappointment in this episode was the lack of Aaliyan’s reaction when he saw Qudsiya with Shahnawaz. At least he should have looked a bit surprised or shocked to see her living under the same roof as his mother and Shahnawaz. I had expected him to be surprised and curious about her presence in the house, but he seemed least bothered. The only time he showed any reaction was when he saw her at the hospital and taunted her about Shahnawaz. Aaliyan is under the misconception that something is going on between Shahnawaz and Qudsiya.

Shahnawaz had been thinking about Shamsa’s advice to marry Qudsiya and he finally came to the conclusion that he needed someone like Qudsiya in his life who is able to understand Aaina and knows how to deal with her. This idea did not go well with Qudsiya when Shamsa mentioned it to her, and she became extremely uncomfortable around Shahnawaz.

After his emotional outburst, it took some time for Aaliyan to get back to his senses. Natasha’s one sided decision and then the confrontation had left him extremely upset, but once he started thinking rationally it became obvious that Shamsa cannot be the only one to be blamed. His father also had a huge hand in his separation from his mother as Aaliyan knew that Sultan does not make any decision which does not benefit him in return. He still does not know the entire truth, but he is pretty close to it now. I hope he realizes his mistake and apologizes to Shamsa before it is too late.

After so many disappointing episodes, I have no idea what is in store for us next in this show. According to the preview, Shamsa’s chapter might close soon. I have simply no idea how Qudsiya and Aaliyan would end up together. We might as well just forget about the promo scenes now. I do not see them happening anytime soon!

After experiencing firsthand how selfish Natasha can be, I fail to understand why Aaliyan is still living with her. It is obvious that he does not feel any attachment towards her. It is about time he leaves her and moves on with his life.

I hope we get to see something interesting in the next episode!

Pakistan Idol Week 09 – Journey So Far!

0

Ohkay so well, I was expecting the results in this episode but sadly nothing was revealed. It looks like we’ll have to wait for a whole week to find out who is the lucky 13th contestant, but on the other hand I do feel that IF unfortunately the selected contestant won’t be the one who everybody is rooting for, then it won’t be worth it. So, I think the best is to keep our fingers crossed that the most deserving; Kashif Ali gets selected.

Having said that, I did enjoy watching this episode because it shed a light on everybody’s story who made it to this level. Everyone had to share one thing or the other & no doubt those who reached to this level have gathered such an experience & made such memories that no one can imagine. The excitement on their faces, along with the happiness was a sight to see.

I enjoyed listening to what they had to tell because no doubt everyone has had their fair share of highs & lows in this whole journey. Everyone was worth listening to minus Sana Zulfikar – yes, I am clearly not interested. I liked how chirppy our down-to-earth Mohammad Shoaib sounded, laid back Asad Ali Zaidi had some points to share too. Waqas Ali actually gets more nervous than he actually sounds or looks. Sajjid Abbas looks more confident now. Rosemary is a sweetheart & luckily we got to know how she made to the auditions. I am happy that the Pakistan Idol team didn’t let her auditions pass & gave her a call to appear in the auditions for the last time, which was actually a beginning of her journey. These bits & bobs were great to listen to because it told us a bit more about the contestants of Pakistan Idol.

Once again, I would like to point out that they need to be wise in song selection. Most of the contestants said the same thing that they chose a song which they or their mothers like, which shouldn’t be the case. Only Waqas Ali made sense when he revealed why he chose Kishor Kumar’s song ‘Ek Hasina Thi’ to perform because looks like he considered many factors starting from impressing the audience to the intricacy of the notes in a song. Most of the others said that they chose songs of their favorite singers which they shouldn’t because I think they have come to such a point where they must keep in mind what song would suit their vocal tone & voice. Rosemary likes Lata Mangeshkar but her voice is really soft to be singing Lata’s songs, so I hope next time we get to hear those songs which the contestants can perform accordingly, not just because they like it or are a fan of the singer.

Well, I know most of us are disappointed because we didn’t get to know who made it through but nevermind, let’s wait for the Gala round because the actual competitions begins from there.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Sannata (Episode 15 & 16)- Pari turning rebellious

0

Sometimes certain events in our lives change us forever and that was what happend to Shauqi when he met Gul Mina. His Taaya (old enough to die) got married to a young, beautiful girl who played with Shauqi’s emotions and his honesty. Deeply submerged in her affection, Shauqi did what he never thought to do; he murdered his own Taaya and as soon as he got to know that it was merely a game that Gul Mina played just to get rid of her husband and to get united with her lover; he felt as if he was betrayed by Gul Mina. She gave him reality check when he questioned the reason of betrayal.

a

Tum ne bhi tou apnay baap jesay taaya k saath faraib kya jesay meray baap ne meray saath kya.

That was the moment when Shauqi was filled with remorse and shame. His bitter memories were more enough to restrain him when he was about to kill Azam;Gul Mina and Pari part was related so well.

b

Rukayya’s reaction to what Aapa Bi thinks of Pari was justified; this is the reaction one expects from a mother who loves her child without any bounds. Despite of the fact that Rukayya didnot give birth to Pari, she always assumed herself as if she was her mother and for that Pari was pampered too. Her stubbornness grew because she knew that Rukayya will always be there by her side whenever any member of family will try haunt her.

The kidnapping part was brilliantly directed and effortlessly performed (by Sajjal Ali);the way she shouted while showing her enmity to Shauqi looked hell realistic. But there was a point when I felt that scenes were prolonged too – Might be director’s fault.

d

Pari ran away with a hope that her Rukayya Aapa will be waiting for her but what she heard was no less than a trauma for her; she was unable to believe what she heard and ran towards Shauqi again. Again, that was half of the story, what Rukayya said in favor of her was left unheard and after that Pari was all set to leave for her father.Meanwhile, on the other side, Rukayya’s harsh words and verbal spat with Aapa Bi ended up with Aapi Bi getting paralyzed.

f

Ashfaq’s not-so-caring nature has now attained much higher degree than ever before. A man who lives merely for maintaining his PR and never values any relation is definition of none other than our Ashfaq Saheb.

Talking about flashbacks – Unlike typical flashbacks, Naseeban’s and Shauqi’s stories gave us points to ponder upon. Whoever says that flashbacks are the cause of bad TRP’s, are proved totally wrong this time. Because Naseeban’s story was my  favorite and most anticipated part of the show and so did Shauqi’s. Overall, this show  maintained its pace in first 6-7 episodes. After that, the graph went on going down and now, at this point, I am sensing that the bars of the show will be raised again.

What are your expectations from upcoming episode ? Do share your thoughts.

Rabia Basharat.

P.S. I am extremely sorry for being so inactive these days. Will review every show on time from now on InshaAllah.

Ali Zafar’s Valentine Day’s Special Concert!

0

Ali Zafar might be known as an actor around the world now, but this does not mean his passion for music has ended. He might not have time to release albums now, but he definitely likes to sing in the Bollywood movies he acts in. He has song for his movie Meri Brother Ki Dulhan, London Paris New York, and for his upcoming movie Total Siyappa (which will release in the first week of March). He still sings on special requests or if something exciting comes up. Last, he sang the OST for the show Zindagi Gulzar Hai because Sultana Siddiqui had requested him. Once again, he did a concert this year for HUM TV channel. He was recently seen performing in the ‘Valentine Day’ concert organized by HUM TV at PC Hotel, Karachi. This will go on air on Hum TV on the 14th of February, 2014.

Shukk – Episode 16

0

There was a great deal of development in this episode, in fact there were times when I felt like this may just be the last episode. Roomi finally managed to convince his father that his place was with his mother, Saniya got her son back and an apology from a mother in law who never gave her credit for anything but Ali, in my opinion, still hasn’t paid for his mistakes. Yes, he is going to be very lonely now and he failed to win over his son but somehow that just doesn’t seem enough. Ehtesham and Sehrish still have to settle their differences or decide whether they want to live together or not. Sehrish’s visit to Saniya’s house did not help matters at all, she really needs to see things for what they are before she does further damage. Maham and her husband have yet to pay a price for the games they played; I definitely want a confrontation between Sehrish and Maham if nothing else. And hopefully such a confrontation would prove to be an eye opener for Sehrish. Saniya’s mother in law will have a lot of free time now to think about what she has done. I actually felt for her in tonight’s episode. Saniya also has to figure out what she will do with her life next.
Right now it seems highly unlikely that anything that Sehrish does or says will change the way Ehtesham feels. Sehrish needs to stop doubting her husband and stop believing in the stories Maham told her if she wants things between her and Ehtesham to get better.

shukk2
I must commend the writer Samira Fazal for showing in a very apt manner how one wrong step taken in anger can ruin everything and how egos can destroy relationships. Ali had to swallow his pride and hand his son over to the woman who he looked down upon. He could not do much when his son ran away from him and into the arms of the man who he despised the most. Sehrish too has pushed Ehtesham to the point where he feels like he does not need to do anything to prove his sincerity. On the other hand, things are falling into place for Saniya, who has always had a very unconditional attitude towards all her relationships. Ehtesham and Sehrish maybe living under the same roof but Ehtesham makes it very clear at every step that Sehrish cannot question him in any way.

shukk1
Tonight’s episode was fast paced, every scene was perfectly shot and all the actors were flawless like always. The last few scenes of Roomi and Ali together were the highlight of tonight’s episode. Ali knew exactly what he was about to lose and he also knew that it was too late to make up for lost time.

shukk3
The preview of the next episode suggested that things are only going to get worse for Sehrish and Ehtesham. What do you think is going to happen next? Do share your views.

Pakistan Idol Week 09 – Wild Card Round!

0

Luckily, we had another amazing round of performances. I think this time around all the contestants gave their 100% & even were very very wise in the song selection. For this sole reason we got to see so many classical performances because the contestants wanted to show their versatility & their devotion towards singing.

I must say I was impressed by most of the performances & also amazed at the choice made by the judges too. I think Umar Aftab also deserved a chance to perform again but they gave chances to whom they deemed fit. No doubt almost all the contestants showed amazing improvement in their singing & the best part of this episode was saved for the last.

The commentary on the eliminated contestants who performed to battle for the last spot is as follows:

Waqar Ehsin (WE) of Islamabad performed ‘Laggan Lagi’, the song from an Indian movie ‘Tere Naam’. He started off weak but was great on high notes. I thought that he fell flat on the low notes & this is exactly what the judges pointed out as well. Hadiqa Kiyani was honest once again & without sugar coating it she said she was unsatisfied, Ali Azmat passed the comments on his notes too, I think he couldn’t redeem himself even after being pushed to an edge.

Ghazal Ali (GA) of Karachi sang Noor Jahan’s ‘Mein Tosay Naahi Boloon’. I think this was another one of her average performances, even though that the judges like it, she sounded bored & definitely inaudible at the lower notes. Judges surprisingly liked it & praised her because she chose a very difficult song of the legendary Noor Jahan, no doubt she tried to attempt it & succeeded to a certain extent but I couldn’t find the WOW factor, definitely not something that will push her in the next round.

Ali Rizwan (AR) of Faisalabad sang Amanat Ali Khan’s ‘Mora Jiya Na Lagay’. It was a pretty difficult song which he sang with ease but I don’t know I didn’t find him extra-ordinary. He sounded just right but wasn’t overly impressive just like his last performance in the Piano round. Judges appreciated his effort but I didn’t see them going gaga over his performance as well, so yeah, he was good but that’s it, maybe there’s some sort of a charm missing in his performances or what but yes, something is missing.

Mohammad Zeeshan (MZ) of Rawalpindi attempted Amanat Ali Khan’s ‘Teriyan We Teriyan’. I think of all those who had performed till this point, Zeeshan Ali was definitely better & impressive in comparison to them all. He has shown heaps of improvement & sounded like he took this particular performance seriously & gave his best shot. Luckily judges were impressed too & were happy at his song selection.

Fizza Javed (FJ) of Karachi sang ‘Sajna Ve Sajna’ sung by Sunidhi Chauhan for the Indian movie ‘Chameli’. I found her totally unimpressive & looks like she ruined my favorite song, no doubt it suited her vocal tone but she just couldn’t sing it like it should’ve been, plus she clearly ran out of breath & for that particular reason she couldn’t complete the last words of all the lines at all. Bushra Ansari surprisingly liked her performance but as usual Hadiqa Kiyani & Ali Azmat disagreed & were spot on, they pointed out the obvious mistakes & felt that she was flat, sounded tired & the performance had nothing much to offer.

Midhat Hidayat (MH) of Karachi sang ‘Ni Mai Samajh Gai’ from the Indian movie ‘Taal’. The song was more or less similar to her previous selection ‘Mahiya Mahiya’ but no doubt she performed really well, considering her age, she definitely is versatile & her voice quality is amazing too. It clearly looked like she pushed herself hard & showed a lot of improvement. Judges appreciated her effort & were clearly impressed.

Seemab Arshad (SR) of Gujrat sang Salamat Ali Khan’s ‘Sanwal Moar Mohaala’. It was undoubtedly the most difficult song attempted in this round & he was flawless, just perfect. From start to the finish he maintained the pace & had full control of what he was singing, not only high notes but he was equally flawless on the lower notes too. Judges were really impressed & no doubt, he called for all the appreciations himself. Bushra Ansari also told that he was suffering from a sore throat but considering the fact, I think he showed that he was in for serious business.

Kashif Ali (KA) of Karachi sang Kailash Kher’s ‘Saiyyan’. Last but definitely not the least. I was left speechless & overwhelmed after this particular performance. He sang it beautifully, soulfully, effortlessly, perfectly & what-not-ly :). I think he definitely deserves a spot in the Gala round after such a brilliant performance. No doubt the judges gave him a standing ovation & Hadiqa Kiyani got overwhelmed because definitely we could hear the feel with which he performed. I am still not sure why such a talented guy has to fight for the spot till the end where he is clearly an amazing singer & why Mehwish got selected from that lot. But no doubt, he fought for it with full force & he proved the point. So, yes he is clearly my favorite & I am rooting for him!!!

So, those who performed brilliantly in this round were Midhat Hidayat, Mohammad Zeeshan, Seemab Arshad & Kashif Ali. I think it’s going to be a tough call between Seemab Arshad & Kashif Ali but I hope that Kashif Ali qualifies, but by looking at both of them perform this time around, I think the judges & the producers should change the format of the show & give chance to both of them as they were equally good. Later they can have two eliminations in one week but I think both of them deserve to be in the Gala Round clearly. Share your thoughts about the performances of this lot.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 20!

0

Unreasonable, unrealistic, unjustifiable & undue are some words to describe this story in a nutshell. Wow! You get divorced & then go as a guest to your ex-husband’s house. This is definitely something that I have never seen or heard of before & this is definitely something that I didn’t miss seeing as well.

I thought Arez was worst but now he looks like a prince in comparison to Sunny. Not only he is scary but he is shallow inside out. I wonder what did the producers see in this script to materialize it as a drama? Sunny is not only insecure but is crazy because I think he is in an awe of how he got such a heavenly girl like Eeshal (as per his supposition). If he wants to save his marriage, he needs to work on it in a positive way rather than torturing his wife.

I thought Ali was a day old when Eeshal got married to Sunny & later he was a couple of days old when Sunny put her on a house-arrest, he was approx 3 days old when Eeshal wanted to go out to buy his pampers & Sunny assured her that he will fetch them on his way back from the office, so suddenly in the next episode when Sunny walked in with a pack of pamper, Ali has come to a stage where he is sitting & even at some point crawling. How come an infant approx a week old grow to the age of 6-7 months in just a change of an episode? Ohkay, even if they have moved the story forward, why Sunny still had an invitation for the dinner from Arez? Why isn’t Eva showing as she must be in her 2nd trimester by now? & just like Arez told, he was in Pakistan for a few days as he has a job to resume in DXB, so what was he doing there for months? I think attention to detail is lacking & that is a major major flaw.

Looking at the production value been put in this drama, I just can not imagine the level this story has stooped down to. You get married to your cousin & on his demand you show up at your in-law’s dinner invite? Awkward is the word for all of this. Soni got what she deserved & Sunny had an excuse for putting her up through all this because he took revenge on behalf of Eeshal. Eva is Eva, dumb to the core & when the baby-like in fact premature baby-like Eva with an IQ of -100 had no idea of what HALALA was, then how come she knew of the term itself & very appropriately she used at that particular moment? I hope someone hits hard on her head so the birds fly away who are residing in her empty head, giving her an opportunity to regain her mental health.

I guess the writer didn’t resort to the Islamic books that clarify the concepts of divorce in the light of Islam which is as simple that a girl DOES NOT get divorced when she is expecting, so how come she got married again & now the term Halala was being used. I thought Eeshal would sooner or later find out that she never got divorced in the first place & then she would reconcile with Arez but seeing all that has happened I wish I had known what sort of a filthy script this was, I wouldn’t have wasted my time on it.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Arij Fatima offered a movie opposite Shahid Kapoor!

0

Arij Fatima is relatively a new comer in the Pakistani industry, and has made her mark in a short span of time. Arij started her career as a model and then moved towards acting. She was the first brand ambassador for Color Studio Pakistan and has done many projects in the fashion world for brands like Deepak Perwani, Misaal and Gul Ahmed. She moved into acting with her first role in Hazaroon Saal alongside Mohib Mirza and Zeba Bakhtiyar. Her other shows include Sabz Qadam, Aik Pagal Si Larki, Sabz Pari Laal Qabutar and a few more. One of her notable performances was in the show Humnasheen and the horror drama serial, Woh. She is now currently seen in the show Meri Beti in which her performance is praiseworthy. She has also done many commercial for brands like Nescafe, Dalda, Jazz, Cadbury, and Lipton Yellow Label.

Bollywood movies are being offered to many Pakistani actors and actress nowadays. Some actors have entered the industry and failed while other have made their mark. Ali Zafar is one such example who has become successful in Bollywood. Other actors like Humayun Saeed and Sara Loren have failed to make their mark in B-Town.

We heard the news of Fawad Khan and Imran Abbas Naqvi opting for Bollywood movies some time back. The latest news is that Arij Fatima has also been offered a Bollywood movie opposite Shahid Kapoor. This news came as a surprise because Arij is still a newcomer in the Pakistani industry. Bollywood filmmakers have seen that there is immense talent in Pakistan and are keen to give Pakistani actors a chance in B-Town. Some actors like Fawad Khan, Ali Azfar and Imran Abbas Naqvi choose to pursue their Bollywood career while other actors like Saba Qamar, Mahira Khan and Shamoon Abbasi remained content with their acting career in Pakistan, and chose to decline the Bollywood offers.

Pakistani movie industry is slowly reviving and we need all our talented actors here. Now let’s see if Arij Fatima will opt for Bollywood or not!

5 PTV Classics Everyone Should Watch

0

No matter how corny it sounds, but our state channel Pakistan Television has an inevitable place in our drama history. Those were the days when only a two minute silent scene was enough to make an ordinary person a recognized star. Those were the times, when script was the primary importance and artists used to rehears at least ten times before facing the camera!

We all have grown up watching PTV, some of the plays were breathtakingly ah-mazing and some were just good time-fillers. But there is another category other than these two; the category of must-watch PTV classics, the plays that everyone should watch!

Khuda Ki Basti

Khuda-Ki-Basti

“Mother of All Serials” Khuda Ki Basti is Pakistan Televisions’ record breaking sensational novel-based play that actually was produced and broadcasted twice on TV, each time creating the same excitement among the masses! That was the time when a PTV play was a good enough reason for barren streets and pin drop silence on otherwise roaring roads. A true reminiscent of PTV’s glory that now deserves to be taught in our acting academies.

The script of the play was written by Shaukat Siddiqui. It was a Sahira Kazmi direction, featuring some of the legends of Pakistani drama industry; Qazi Wajid, Zaheen Tahira, Mehmood Ali, Behroz Sabzwari, Munawar Sultana and others.

Aangan Terha

mm

Aangan Terha – a witty comedy with just the perfect tinge of satire is another play that you should totally watch, if haven’t already. The settings and plot of the play was amazingly simple featuring only three main characters, Mehboob Aalam, Jahan Aara Baigum and Akbar, played by Shakeel Ahmad, Bushra Ansari and Saleem Nasir respectively.

Originally the play was a satirical commentary on the sociopolitical upheavals of 80’s Pakistan, penned by none other than Anwar Maqsood. Each actor was a suitable fit in the character, giving their best but it was Bushra Ansari who actually nailed it. She was quite young to play the character of an aged nagging wife back then but till date it is one of her most flawlessly done projects.

Shehzori

Shehzori

“Mein Bohot Buri Aadmi Hun”  How many of you can still recall this sentence? It was the pillow talk of hilarious Neelofar Abbasi in Shehrozi, which undoubtedly is one of the best slapstick comedies PTV ever presented.

Haseena Moin’s debut serial Shehzori is a hilarious play that revolves around a tom boyish girl Tara (played by Neelofar Abbasi) who apparently is a kiddish girl who gets nothing right but eventually evolves as a strong woman with a firm standing point. The play belonged to the black and white PTV era and Neelofar and Shakeel is without any comparison the cutest on screen couple of that time.

Tanhaiyan

tanhaiyan

From the pen of Haseena Moin, the cult classic PTV play Tanhaiyan is the story of two sisters Zara and Sanya who dig deep into the philosophy and essence of living in an attempt to get their parent’s house back. The play was a hot favourite among the audience giving the ultimate fame and popularity to the entire cast that includes Shehnaz Sheikh, Marina Khan, Behroz Sabzwari, Qazi Wajid, Asif Raza Mir and others.

This is probably the only PTV classic that made it to its sequel. Approximately after 27 years, Marina Khan came up with a sequel of Tanhaniyan that was very much the culmination of the same story but of course with new twists. New faces included Syra Yousaf, Alishbah Yousaf, Shehroz Sabzwari and Shehertar Munawar Siddique.

Ankahi

ankahi2

Timmy, Jibran, Maamoo, Faraz and Sana – sounds a bit familiar maybe? We all have grown up watching this family and share a common love for them, don’t we? The outstanding duo of Haseena Moin and Shaoib Mansoor presented Ankahi, the unforgettable PTV play in early 80’s.

Ankahi was a mega-cast play starring Jamshed Ansari, Shehnaz Sheikh, Shakeel, Javed Sheikh, Salim Nasir, Behroz Sabzwari, Badar Khalil and others. Ankhai was the story of unexpressed emotions and unfulfilled desire, one of those plays that kept the audience giggling only to leave them with an ultimate deep sorrow. Ankahi has been telecasted quite a few times now and its DVDs are still selling like hot cakes, you definitely need to grab one if you already haven’t amused yourself by this play.

How many of these PTV classics have you watched already? Don’t forget to add your personal favourites in the list by commenting!

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 8

0

This latest episode was filled with love, romance and even more romance. Nabeel’s feelings for Romaissa are honest; his love for her is unconditional. The thing that I like the most about Nabeel’s character is that he knows exactly what he wants from life. Romaissa still finds it hard to believe that someone like her who has been deprived of love most of her life is being showered with so much affection all of a sudden. Nabeel and Romaissa came across as soul mates in tonight’s episode. Nabeel’s interest in everything that his wife had to share with him and his endeavors to make all of Romaissa’s dreams come true were very sweet.
Romaissa showed Nabeel every little treasure which she had gathered in her life and Nabeel made it a point to prove to her that dreams really do come true. He took her to the place she had always dreamed about, showed her that she didn’t have to be a duck to float on the lake! and now he wants her to own the house she had always wanted. Romaissa on the other hand wants nothing more from life now.

m2
I am glad we were not shown the reaction of Nabeel’s family members when Romaissa went to the house after the rukhsati and I am also very happy that we were spared the cheesy first night scene, they usually seem very run-of-the-mill. The conversation between Nabeel and Romaissa about the morning star was an excellent way to show the beginning of their marital life. Now we know why Romaissa’s father felt the way he did about Subha ka sitara.

m4
Romaissa has transformed after marriage mainly because Nabeel has given her the faith she needed to open up. Nabeel is like a good friend to her with whom she can share anything. Alia’s reaction to Romaissa taking her treasure trunk to her new house was hilarious. Her conversation with Romaissa before she gets married however was not amusing at all.

m3
The theme of the play till now is nothing out of the ordinary; a very pretty girl belonging to a lower middle household finds herself living a life she never dreamed of after she finds her prince charming. Of course Romaissa didn’t go out looking for someone to rescue her, so that makes her character likeable but I do see a lot of similarities between Kashaf and Zaroon and Romaissa and Nabeel with the exception of course that Romaissa is much different from Kashaf. Kashaf never wanted a prince charming to rescue her but he did and she lived happily ever after. That was the end of Kashaf’s story but this is the beginning of Romaissa’s story. I am in no way saying that the two plays are the same in any way but even in Kankar and Daam the circumstances were the same.

m6
The best thing about tonight’s episode was that we finally got to know a lot more about our heroine than we did till now. Romaissa, like any other human being wants to be loved and she also wants to leave her fears and insecurities behind. The sunglasses that Sanam Jung and Mikaal Zulfiqar wore distracted me a lot. I needed to see the expressions in their eyes when they talked to each other.

m7
Overall, this episode had some good bits and some which could easily be skipped. Nabeel’s family’s complaints as usual were not the highlight of the episode. Most of Nabeel and Romaissa’s scenes however were really sweet. I must confess though that am finding it hard to fall in love with the play because none of the characters are standing out the way you would expect them to considering that the play has been written by Umera Ahmed. The direction of the play has not really been impressive till now. Mikaal did very well in the last episode but in this episode there were times when he was good and there were scenes in which he could have done better, same is true for Sanam Jung. Sanam’s cuteness definitely overshadows everything else about her character. I hope that things get more interesting in the future.

Rubaru – Episode 05!

Ohkay, so finally there was a progress in the story that we all were waiting for. I am glad that without a further a due they decided to reveal the actual bit & the main reason behind Surmed’s emotional disturbance.

I think all the curiosity would be pretty much settled because now we know who Shabbi takes her looks after & why Surmed finds tranquility in torturing her. Like always & as usually I found Naani & her decision totally unreasonable. Just because she decided to cut all the ties with Shabbi’s mother Neelam, she now wants to buy some peace for herself & her inner-conscience because she is guilty of the regret, so for that particular reason she wants to put everything on the line to give away her property to Shabbi. I think it was fine for her to decide that for her own property but to put her sons through a trial for the sake of Shabbi is wrong. I think it is definitely irrational on Naani’s part to propose the selling of the house just so that all the other 5 members of the family suffer & she can shower Shabbi with things she probably doesn’t need. Here comes another reason for why we kind of dislike Naani’s character. Meanwhile, Tipu & Kiran have had their first official fight as a married couple which made me think that Tipu was over-reacting but seeing how Kiran needs to learn a lesson, I think his sternness is justified.

Surmed finally decided to tell Shabbi why he hates her, in that particular scene I think more was needed from Syra Yousuf than just shedding a few tears expressionlessly because Faizan Khawaja acted exactly how it was required as he was letting go of the biggest secret he had held till now. Syra neither looked stunned nor shocked whereas she should’ve given a bit more from her side as Shabbi was getting to know not only about why Surmed treated that way but also the reality about her dead mother which definitely she was never told of.

Shabbi decided to dig deeper into the past & for that she had Arif uncle to contact, finally he took the story back to where it all began & seems like how everyone predicted, Surmed’s father, Adnan Siddique – Taimoor was involved with Shabbi’s mother – Neelam. I think Syra Yousuf has acted out the character of Neelam particularly well in comparison to that of Shabbi. She is shown as a boisterous young lady in love with her already married professor. She even has her friend (Syra’s younger sis Palwasha) pointing out the cons of dating a married man for her, but seems like Neelam doesn’t want feedback of any sorts on her personal life. I want to find out how Shabbi came into Neelam’s life when clearly she isn’t Taimoor’s daughter because it would technically make Shabbi & Surmed siblings.

I found the scene in which Taimoor’s wife finds out about Neelam quite poorly directed. It’s doesn’t happen that way that a married man stumbles upon his girlfriend, drops the shopping bags & runs behind her in the middle of a public place that too in front of his wife. I think the director should’ve chosen a different way of showing how Taimoor’s wife finds out about her husband’s extramarital affair. Even after getting to know about her husband’s flick, she thought fleeing away from Turkey would solve all the issues but she was sadly mistaken & I was actually surprised at his dhitai that even when he knew his wife knows about Neelam & him, he wasn’t bothered much.

I am glad that suddenly the drama has become a lot more interesting & I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Cheers,

Aseer Zadi Episode 23 and 24 – An Unexpected Ending!

0

This show has taken the viewers on a roller coaster ride since its first episode. The best part about this show is that there were rarely any dull moments as the show was pretty fast paced. The last 3 to 4 episodes were a bit slow, but I still enjoyed all the episodes a lot. I must admit, I was not expecting the show to end with such a huge twist.

The last few episodes have been focused on Badi Sarkar’s redemption, and how she is trying her best to make amends. After proving Maira’s innocence, it was now time for her to bring her back to the haveli and Maira came back to the haveli on Badi Sarkar’s request. Badi Sarkar also apologized to Amna in front of everyone and Amna forgave her with all her heart. It was good to see everyone happy and dancing to celebrate Maira’s return and Amna’s unique ‘Naagin’ dance was also an added bonus. Sakina Sammo has done full justice to her character. Then there was the reconciliation between mother and son; their scene was one of the best scenes of the show. We saw the mother and son bonding for the first time; Badi Sarkar acted like a mother who truly cared for her son’s happiness and wellbeing.

I liked the fact that they did not show Maira forgiving Shahab immediately which usually happens in most shows. The accusation he had made on her was not a trivial matter, and it took Maira some time to forgive Shahab. She forgave him completely when Badi Sarkar tried to explain her his position. It was definitely good to see Maira and Shahab back together!

Even Yasmeen’s matter was resolved to satisfaction. Maira was very cooperative in Yasmeen’s case and asked Shahab to make it up to her. She deserved his attention as much as she did, and this is exactly what he did. He finally managed to patch things up with Yasmeen. Even Naseemi was finally able to let go of the past when Amna advised her to. I am glad they paid attention to all these tracks too!

Badi Sarkar might have changed, but Peer Jalal was still adamant on bringing the glory back to his ancestors and he was still thinking of ways to achieve this. He was not ready to admit defeat at any cost. Peer Jalal tried to talk to Shahab but he was not ready to listen and had no interest in bringing fame to his family again by lying. Peer Jalal then resorted to his last option and took help from a person like Sikander.

Sikander had again kept an offer in front of Peer Jalal. This time he did not want power, but wanted his daughter’s happiness. Fatima had become mentally unstable after being rejected and her father was ready to do anything to get back her sanity. He offered to get Maira out of the way in exchange for Fatima and Shahab’s wedding. The plan failed completely when Sikander shot Badi Sarkar instead of Maira. Badi Sarkar’s death came as a complete surprise to me!

What was even more shocking was Peer Jalal committing suicide! He lost one of the most important people in his life because of his selfishness. He could not live with this guilt on his conscience and decided to end his life.

The last few scenes showed that the rest of the people in the haveli managed to live a blissful life after the storm they had been through. The family was finally complete when Maira gave birth to twins.

Noor Hassan has given one of his best performances in this show. I remember when I saw him in his first show; I had thought that he had no potential as an actor, but he has improved drastically overtime.

Ainnie Jafferi was also at her best in this show and so was Saniya Shamshad. Saniya performed brilliantly throughout the show and especially when she went completely crazy in the end. The transition from the proud and dominating Badi Sarkar to a normal woman was portrayed brilliantly by Sania Saeed. Salman Shahid also carried out his grey shaded character to perfection. There were so many layers in his character! The flawless direction also gave life to the scenes and made each one stand out!

So what are your views on the ending of this show?

Sindh Festival under Criticism over temporary constructions in Mohenjo daro

hairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on 21st January addressed general public via a private channel. He urged the people to standby and guard their customs and culture. He also announced the plan for a Sindh Festival, a grand cultural festival to showcase the rich history and traditions of Sindh.

The Sindh Festival will be arranged on the archeological site of Mohenjo Daro. For this temporary construction work is already underway in Moehenjo Daro. It all came under lot of criticism when pictures of this construction went viral on social media. As per reports, a stage will be built on top of the ruins  apart from temporary seating arrangement.

Many social activists are protesting against the proposed plan, citing it will damage the historical archeological site. PTI Sindh has also issued a condemnation statement on the matter. On social media many persons have tagged on Bilawal Bhutto twitter account to register their anger, but there has been no response so far.

Have a look at some photos of ongoing construction work at Mohenjo Daro for the upcoming Sindh Festival. Pictures courtesy of BBC Urdu (Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/urdu/multimedia/2014/01/140129_sindh_festival_moenjadaro_preparartions_social_media_tim.shtml)

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 10!

0

So, the episode was all about everyone’s reaction. Starting from Saad’s mother to Laiba, everyone had a fair share of reactions there which Shehryar & Aiza never expected.

After this episode I thought it would’ve been better if Shehryar had disclosed who he intended to marry, this way he would’ve saved himself & his wife from a lot of awkwardness. Laiba went overboard because she never expected to see her father marry her best friend. She on her own is right to some extent too but I am sure that even if she would try to come to terms with the fact, people around her especially Cuckoo won’t let that happen. Aiza knew how Saad would react but still she managed to rely on Shehryar for his decision of surprising everyone but no one expected Laiba to not even try to understand her father.

Of all the people I found myself giggling at Cuckoo’s reactions & especially how she called her stress-buster employee to shed off all her frustration at him for not doing his work – for not spying properly. Poor guy has to put up with so much but I think that was the funniest part of the episode. I thought Cuckoo would pack her bags & leave ASAP but seems like she has called her dibs on Shehryar way more than it was actually revealed, she still wants him & now seeing how her ego got hurt, I am sure she won’t hold back in going to extremes.

Saad obviously went meager with the news because that was the last thing he expected & just because he is too sensitive to be a guy, we saw him almost fainting. But luckily for Aiza, Saad’s mother reacted positively to their decision of getting married. She seems like a rational person who knows her place & loves taking care of everyone & so for that she not only accepted Shehryar’s decision but also congratulated him on choosing Aiza as his partner. Laiba & Shehryar’s conversation was another high point of the episode. I thought Shehryar would surrender just in order to make his daughter happy but he amazed me with whatever he said. That was definitely appreciable when he told Laiba that he is not liable to anyone without sugarcoating it & that he ain’t even answerable for the choices he makes. I think this is exactly what he had to say because if Laiba thinks she has grown up, then she needs to be treated that way for sure.

Is it just me or I think the actors playing the role of friends are bland? Laiba’s friend Maria & Saad’s friend both these actors are over-doing it, especially I think Saad’s friend overdoes his bits or may be he is soooo much into the character that he wants to put an extra 200% along with his 100% of the acting but sorry buddy, it looks overdone especially when he goes like ‘kya hua Saad, sab theek to hai na Saad, Saad, Saad, Saad, Saad, Saad, Saad, Saad, Saad’. Phew! Anyways, finally Saad’s mother heard Laiba’s little utterance & she got all excited, I am sure just like us she must’ve thought as well ‘k Oooo isay Ammi ki nahi Saad se chummy hone ki khuwahish thi’. LOL.

Well, glad this was another interesting episode & all the reactions were shown appropriately without overdoing any bit. Everyone got to share their feelings & screen time perfectly & looks like Cuckoo has some plans of her rolling as well. Can’t wait for the next episode because it would be having a lot more drama along with Shehryar & Aiza’s growing feelings for one another.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Pakistani drama industry in danger !

0

Nowadays Pakistani media industry is criticizing the airing of dubbed soaps on the local TV channels. It claims that our local drama industry will be destroyed if these foreign plays will replace the domestically produced dramas and the matter is not taken care of. Specially they will occupy the prime-time hours which have a significant history of showing us some of the finest Pakistani dramas that gained popularity not only in Pakistan but abroad as well.

Apart from the debate about the quality of our dramas, we should have a patriotic feeling about our TV dramas. At least it is something of our own, of our own country. It belongs to us.

Pakistani drama industry has a dignified and glorious past of producing the unsurpassed dramas like ‘Dhoop Kinaray’, ‘Tanhaiyaan’, ‘Chand Girhan’, ‘Dhuan’, ‘Alpha-Bravo-Charlie’ and the list goes on. These plays were famous for creating a pin-drop silence on the streets. Even in the recent past we saw some noticeable plays like ‘Manay Na Ye Dil’, ‘Qaid-e-Tanhai’, ‘Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan’ etc. The DVDs of the aforementioned and many other plays were interestingly seen overseas not only by Pakistani expatriate community but other nationalities also. Pakistani dramas are also shown in the acting schools of the neighboring country as inspiration.

There was a period when an attempt was made by the Indian TV channels to invade this industry through their low-quality soaps that had weak plots and senseless stories. Those dramas left negative impact on our society such as hatred, jealousy, greed and revenge. These behaviors entered our houses and females of our country were largely affected. These substandard plays also influenced the fashion sense of our people. Honestly, I never saw a man wearing a shocking pink embroidered suit before.

Then enters the dubbed plays. Urdu1 ventured into dubbed programming with a Turkish soap ‘Ishq e Mamnu’. Pakistanis loved the Urdu-speaking ladies of the Bosphorus and the play went viral as far as the ratings are concerned. For channels, this is a jackpot. With minimal production cost, just buy foreign content, dub it in Urdu and you are good to go.

I’ve read some arguments on the web that dubbed programming is a common feature of primetime across the world. I say, this might be a trend worldwide but the countries where this practice is followed might not have their own quality content. Pakistan is a different case.

Pakistan has a legacy of producing good quality dramas. From writers to actors, from producers to directors, Pakistan has a vast variety of talent that is increasing day by day. We don’t need any foreign content to amuse our television viewers. I agree that there is some shortcomings in our dramas but those deficiencies could be fixed.

I’m not against the screening of foreign content on our local TV channels. People like change and I agree with that. But, it should be controlled and limited. The prime time should be reserved for the original Pakistani dramas only. We should also keep in mind that local production of the drama is also connected to our economy. A huge number of people are associated with this industry. Broadcast of too much foreign content on TV channels will ruin the careers of people (including many labor and low category technical staff) associated with the drama industry. Let us save our drama industry from foreign influence before it is too late.

Ranjish Hi Sahi – Episode 13

0

I honestly feel that there was no need to show in such detail how Yumna’s daughters were mourning the loss of their dead mother in this particular episode. Yes, Yumna was the central character in the story and her death was a very tragic incident but the last episode covered the rona dhona bit well enough. In this episode the long scenes showing how Hiba and Tooba feel about leaving the house and how they miss their mother seemed totally unnecessary. The only scene which I found more relevant was the one in which Hiba goes to the kitchen in the middle of the night to eat her dinner. It reminded me of the way Yumna used to worry sick about Hiba’s eating habits. The scenes in the beginning of the episode should have been very short.

rhs3

It was good to see Tooba and Hiba forgetting what had happened and what was ahead for them for a little while before they left the house they grew up in. The happy and sad moments were mixed up well but I couldn’t help but wonder if the decorations were just lying around in the house! The birthday party was a little too elaborate given the present circumstances.

rhs5

Hiba and Tooba have their own transport, they could have carried much more than the two small suitcases they had with them when they went to Bano Apa’s house. Hiba’s character could have been much more likeable if she acted her age; she acts like a spoiled ten year old. No matter how spoiled a girl her age is, she understands that there are times when you need to compromise. Even a four year old throws less tantrums when she knows that she does not have her mother to spoil her.

rhs1

Kamal said his goodbyes to Yumna so I am guessing he is out of the picture for now. I must say that Yumna and Kamal added that special touch to the story which made it exceptional for me. Their track was penned down, directed and acted out really well. I am not sure if the youngsters will be able to take the story forward the way Faisal Rehman and Samiya Mumtaz did because for now it seems highly unlikely. It is time to speed things up in order to keep the interest of the audience alive.

rhs4

This episode was a huge disappointment for me. Until now the play maintained a very steady pace and even the long conversation never seemed boring but the conversations and scenes in tonight’s episodes were too stretched and mediocre. Ranjish Hi Sahi has given me a lot to rave about so I am obviously not going to give up on it but I also hope that the story will be more interesting in the future. Two of the characters we fell in love with are out of the picture so I will definitely be missing them.
