Saba Qamar Item Number Teaser

0

We reported earlier that Saba Qamar denied “rumors” of her item song in the upcoming film Mastani 8969 but now the teaser of the dance number is out so the people can judge for themselves whether this is an item number or just an insignificant performance by the actress in the film as she said. Saba Qamar said that the day she feels the need to perform item number she will leave television because then the women who are usually simple housewives who relate to her characters won’t be able to do so.

Here is the teaser of her upcoming movie:

Friends In Need

0

The fate of many of the leading men and women in our dramas has been determined by the kind of friends they had. If Sara in Hamsafar did not go along with what Asher’s mother had planned for Khirad, things would be very different. Had Maham and her husband been more sincere in their friendship, the misunderstandings between Sehrish and Ehtesham in drama serial Shuk would not have occurred. If Maleeha in drama serial Daam decided to put her friendship before her own interests, had she not been jealous of her best friend who had always stood by her, Zara’s life would have been very different! Mahi’s online friend Saifee in drama serial Malal almost ruined her marriage because he wanted to get back at her. Recently in drama serial Shanakht we saw Hashim rejecting Annie’s proposal primarily because of what his friend had to say about her.

What I am trying to say is that friends do not only make a huge difference in real life but they play a pivotal role in taking the story forward in dramas as well. Not many of the leading men and women in our dramas have been lucky enough to have good friends but there are some characters who were blessed with friends who were always there for them.

Untitled

Here is a list of friends in some recent dramas who played an important and positive role in the lives of the main leads.

Laila In Laa:

Daniyal’s journey would never have ended happily if he hadn’t met Laila on the train station the day he was leaving for Karachi. In the beginning the viewers kept on guessing whether Laila’s intentions were pure or not but gradually it was revealed that Laila genuinely wanted to help Daniyal because she valued his friendship. Laila was lonely and so was Daniyal therefore they understood each other. Even though Laila had feelings for Daniyal but she never tried to manipulate her way into his life. The friendship between both these characters was made even more special because of the on-screen chemistry between Mikaal Zulfiqar and Sabreen Hisbani.

k4k3

Kukoo and Mrs. Khan in Pehchan:

We hardly ever get to see women characters in our dramas standing by each other through thick and thin but the three friends in Pehchan, Kukoo, Mrs. Khan and Laila had an exemplary friendship. Laila derived her strength from Kukoo and Mrs. Khan and they always gave her sound advice. Mrs. Khan helped Laila in her business and looked out for her like she was her own daughter. Kukoo’s character was one of a kind in many ways, she did not want Laila to continue fooling herself. The story wouldn’t have taken the turn which it did if it wasn’t for Kukoo. The conversations between these three friends and the settings in which these conversations were shot were definitely a treat to watch. The chemistry between Iffat Rahim, Anita Camphor and Alishba Yusef was unforgettable and the way their experiences helped shape up their personalities made their characters more relatable.

k5k6

Mrs. Khan did not have the strength to break away from a marriage that was only harming her emotionally but she wanted Laila to be happy because she did not want her to end up like her after 30 years or so. Now how many of the older ladies in our dramas have such positive thinking? Barely any!

Romaissa’s Friend In Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai:

I must say that Romaissa’s conversations with her friend were few of those moments when the viewers got the chance to look at Romaissa as a living and breathing human being. Romaissa’s friend always proved to be the voice of reason and since she was the only friend which Romaissa had therefore whatever she said had a lasting effect on her. Romaissa’s friend advised her to be more confident when she was in her Khala’s house and most importantly she always asked Romaissa to stay positive after Nabeel’s death.

k7

Ayesha In Shanakht

The actress playing the role of Annie’s friend in Shanakht may not be very convincing as far as her performance is concerned but her character has everything going for it. The main protagonist of the show Annie always turns to Ayesha for advice since Annie has just started following religious teachings strictly but Ayesha has been wearing a scarf for a long time and she also has complete support of her family. Ayesha is not only a friend in need but also one who understands Annie’s situation. Even after Annie’s mother tells her off she does not hold a grudge against Annie. Ayesha must have been an inspiration for Annie because we see Annie’s mother constantly “blaming” her for the change in Annie’s personality. A very well-balanced character with a very pleasant feel to it, Ayesha is definitely a friend in need!

k8

Koi Nahi Apna

Koi Nahi Apna was a total wreck in all the departments, Fahad Mustafa’s performance was the only good thing about the show but he could not obviously save this sinking ship single-handedly since good dramas are a result of team effort. Apart from Fahad Mustafa the only likeable character in the play was that of Zainab who was actually Alvira’s friend but after Alvira left she supported Hamza and Shiza in all ways possible because she felt that it was the right thing to do until Alvira and Hamza got back together. Many viewers wanted to see Hamza and Zainab together but she was the one who brought Alvira and Hamza together in the end.

Salma Hassan played her character very well and the way in which she got closer to Shiza and Hamza was rather unpredictable and probably the only intelligent development in the play. Zainab definitely falls in the category of one of those friends that change the lives of our leading men and women in dramas.

k9

Arham’s Friend In Mohabbat Ab Nahi Ho Gi

Apart from some of the most nuanced mother characters in the play, this one too has a friend which everyone would wish to have! Arham leaves for Kuwait right after getting married and Fiza is constantly complaining about every other thing, he is under stress all the time and the only person he can turn to is his friend and roommate. Without siding with either of the three ladies in the house Arham’s friend tries to calm him down and solves his problems. The character’s presence is rather nominal in the play but one can’t help but wonder where Arham would be without his friend to rely on. The actor playing the role is a newbie and you don’t really warm up his style of acting instantly but the positivity in his character makes it likeable.

k2

These are all the good friends that I could think of, I am sure the Pyare Afzal fans will probably have a name or two to add. Feel free to add to the list and do share your thoughts about the friends which are included in the list.

DRAMAS TAUGHT US TO MARRY YOUR COUSINS!

0

I finally decided to write about this topic as I am still noticing that our dramas usually revolves around cousins’ love and marital affairs. Our drama makers love to show affairs between cousins while in reality cousins are like brother and sisters, so I don’t know what prompts them to suggest that cousins are usually indulged into each other.

Marriage is indeed a beautiful phase of life as everyone wants to have a life partner who can be with you in all stages of life. Some people do Love Marriages and some people do Arrange Marriages. All I can see in dramas that you prefer to do both love and arrange marriages with your cousins. I understand that cousins do marry with each other because of the so called reason of “Dekha Bhaala larka/ larki” but according to our dramas it seems like everyone is interested in marrying with their cousins.

So have a look on list of dramas that revolves around cousins marriages:

Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan:

Let’s start with a drama MZZB, Arfeen love Saba his paternal cousin and decided to marry her. Adil, saba’s another paternal cousin had also shown interest in Saba. Arfeen’s mother succeeded to apart Arfeen from Saba by setting a trap to prove that Adil and Saba were involved in illicit behaviour. This drama was a perfect story of cousins’ tragic love story. Result= cousins marriage failed.

MZZB

Humsafar:

This drama is the best example of cousins’ love and martial affairs. Let’s see how strings are attached, Khizer, Sara’s Paternal cousin love Sara, Sara madly love Asher her maternal cousin, Asher love Khirad his wife and Paternal cousin. Sara with help of Khizer succeeded to apart Asher and Khirad but fate re unites them. In the end one cousin Sara died after not getting Asher as her life partner. Result= Cousins marriage half succeeded half failed.

Humsafar

Kankar:

This drama was although based on domestic abuse on women but in the end everyone was happy after getting married with their respective cousins. Arzoo love Sikander her maternal cousin but Sikander wants to marry Kiran. Kiran’s paternal cousin Adnan wants to marry Kiran as well. In the end Kiran got remarried with Adnan after getting divorce from Sikander, as he used to beat her and Sikandar got remarried with Arzoo and all cousins live happily ever after. Result= All cousins are successful.

kankar

Dil-e-Muzter:

Yet another successful drama of Hum-TV but again the story revolves around cousin marital affair. Sila love Adeel her paternal cousin and they both got married. Although Adeel treated Sila badly but in the end when Adeel ask forgiveness she forgave her cousin and decided to move on with him leaving Ahmer friend zoned. Result= Cousins’ marriage successful.

dil e muzter

Marasim:

This drama was indeed a masterpiece in terms of story line and direction however it is another fine example of Cousins’ love affair. Dawood and Deeba were engaged to their paternal cousins Momenah and Abdullah from childhood. Dawood and Momenah love each other madly, Deeba also love Abdullah but Abdullah was not at all interested in Deeba. In the end Deeba was finally married to Abdullah and Momenah got married with Fahad her maternal cousin. The interesting and funny fact of this drama was that both Zaid and Dawood died as they were unable to marry their respective cousins. Result= Cousins marriage successful and those who are unsuccessful died.

Marasim

Daam:

This was yet another gem by Umera Ahmed but as usual story revolves around cousins. Junaid love Zara, Maliha’s best friend, Maliha love her paternal cousin Yasir. Fiza, Yasir’s sister got some real psychological problems and she always show her jealousy towards Zara and she succeeded to snatch Junaid from her. Not all dramas have happy endings, this drama got finished with some real grim faces as all cousins got nothing but separation. Fiza Jealousy and Maliha’s selfishness indeed destroyed everyone’s life. Result= Cousin’s marriage unsuccessful.

daam

Ru Baru:

A drama that was self-destroyed by the writer, I mean this could be among great dramas of 2014 but writer got some another plan. Although the main characters were sarmad and shabeeh but most of the drama was focused on Kiran and Tipu who were both maternal and paternal cousins. Tipu at first divorced Kiran as she always blamed Tipu for having extra marital affairs but when Tipu’s mother insisted him to marry her again he agreed. This drama was ended on a very absurd note leaving many questions unanswered. Result= Cousins’ marriage successful.

ru baru

Ahista Ahista:

The Lameness of this drama cannot be defined in a single word. I just want to say that huge money had been spent on Production Quality but the story is actually unbearable. Anyways Zawar is a lucky man as he is enjoying his life with an Indian and a Pakistani wife and yes the Pakistani wife is as usual his cousin. Its fine to show  Zawar’s second wife as his cousin but casting Mawra against Adnan Siddiqui I mean are you serious? Result=  Cousins’ Marriage Successful.

ahista ahista

Jab We Wed:

Another perfect example of cousins’ love affair, this drama is currently on-air on Urdu 1. Nisa love Faris madly, her Paternal cousin but Faris needs to fulfil his mother’s last wish that Faris should marry with one maternal cousin out of three cousins. When Faris told Nisa about her mother’s wish she was heart-broken. Farish wants Nisa to help him to suggest which cousin will be suitable for her, Nisa was although not willing to help him at start but finally she agreed. Result= although the drama is still On-Air but the result is successful as per the story line we all know that Faris will eventually marry Nisa.

Jab_We_Wed

Rung:

I know most of you are not watching this drama, it is currently On-Air on Hum Sitaray. I found this play much better than most of the HUM-TV plays currently On-Air. So Saniya and Zafar are cousins and best childhood friends. Saniya grows up to be an over ambitious woman as a doctor who wants to be on top and everything should be perfect in her life. She prefers her work and ambition over her family, while Zafar prefers family and simple life. On Saniya’s mother last wish Saniya got married with Zafar but it was like a forceful marriage as Saniya never finds Zafar as a compatible companion. Saniya is so workaholic that she neglected her children while Zafar cared for his family. Result= Not applicable until drama ends but it seems like Saniya might leave Zafar or she may realise in the end that she is actually losing her beautiful family.

Rung hum sitaray drama ost

So any other drama in your mind which is based on Cousins’ marital or love affair? P.S: Please no debate on cousins’ marriages.

Saba Qamar Angry About Item Number Rumors

0

Many online pages have been reporting that Saba Qamar is doing an item number in the upcoming film “Mastani 8969” . The rumors started when the following picture of the film that clearly says item number under Saba Qamar’s pictures went viral on social media.

Untitled

While talking to HIP, Saba Qamar not only denied these rumors but was also very furious that her name was being used like this by the producer to get attention. “It’s just a stupid publicity stunt by the producer to promote his venture, nothing else,” Saba Qamar said while talking to the online blog. Saba Qamar also informed her viewers that this was not a commercial film but a telefilm in which she plays the role of an actress.

Saba Qamar also said, “When I do dramas, housewives relate to me. I don’t think they will continue to feel the same about me once I perform on an item song.”

“If I do item songs, then I’ll leave TV.” Not only this she also said, “Dekhein log kitni laan taan ker rahein hain Mehwish aur Humaima ko.”

Artists , who tied knot at the peak of their career..

0

It has been said that the early you get married, the more are the chances of your marriage turning successful. The reason is obvious, mature minds show less flexibility when it comes to molding oneself according to the desires of their partner. So yes, I am in favor of those who get married in between 20-30 years of age. After that, complications are more and chances to live a happy married life are less(not in all cases, ofcourse.) I have compiled a list of artists who got married at the peak of their career. Here it is.

1 . Sahiba & Rambo

Everyone is familiar of “John Rambo” of guest house and actress, Sahiba. They got married at very early age; Despite of her mother being against their marriage, Sahiba somehow managed to convince her and they are living a happily married life with two sons now.

2. Ali Zafar

Who knew that a person who drew portraits while sitting in lobby of Pearl Continental Hotel, will become one fine artist one day. Yes, he is Ali Zafar; He got married at young age when he met his soul mate Aisha. Till date, she accompanies him in all his tours and trips and is always standing by his side.

5. Syra & Shehroz

I always liked Syra Yousaf for the way she carries herself; She always looked decent and poised and I think, she took right decision  of getting married at right time. Syra and Shehroz are living a very happy married life with their 3 months old daughter.

Within months, she got married but we are unable to see her onscreen till date. Come back soon Annie ,We miss you !

10. Sarwat Gillani & Fahad Mirza

Sarwat Gillani needs no introduction ; Be it her role in Malaal or in Dil e Muztar, she proved herself as a versatile actress. Fahad Mirza has his short acting career but I can sense a potential lead male in him. They tied the knots last month too.

10 Actresses 25 years & under

0

There are many talented youths in Pakistan, especially in the entertainment industry. Generally models debut as actresses, though this is not always the case. To claim fame and critical success when you are hardly 25 years of age is a big achievement. I have put together a list of 10 actresses who are 25 years of age and under, with a bit of information on each.
NOTE: Ages are taken from Wikipedia.

~ AIZA KHAN

An actress loved by many across the globe, Aiza Khan entered the television industry with the Hum TV drama serial ‘Tum Jo Miley’ in 2008. Since then she has appears in many many dramas and telefilms, mainly in lead roles. She is also a victim of typecast, where it seems she is also acting in rona dhona roles. However in recent hit drama ‘Pyaray Afzal’, she played a totally different kind of role of Farah, which was a hit with viewers and showed her different acting style.

Last month she married actor ‘Danish Khan’, whom she has appeared in some dramas with before. Currently she is seen in Urdu 1 drama ‘Jab We Wed’, Geo TV drama ‘Bikhra Mera Naseeb’ and Hum TV drama ‘Mere Meherbaan’.

ayza khan1

~ MAYA ALI

25 year-old actress and model Maya Ali made her debut into the acting industry through the drama ‘Durr-e-Shahwar’. Her first lead role was in ‘Aik Naye Cinderella’ in 2012, a drama that proved to be very popular. In 2013, she starred alongside Osman Khalid Butt in the romantic comedy, ‘Aun Zara’, a fun, highly-rated and charming drama.

Maya Ali is a natural actress, and has improved her acting immensely over the last few years. Currently she is seen in Hum TV drama ‘Shanakht’ portraying the role of Annie, which I think she is portraying beautifully.

Recently she was in drama ‘Ishq Mein Tere’ which aired on Hum TV opposite Azfar Rahman & Mehwish Hayat. Her acting really stood out, leaving a lasting impression on viewers. Chup Raho – Episode 04

0

Pace of the show is going perfectly fine and story is picking up momentum too. This show might sound weird to many of us but the story they are trying to narrate forms a cruel part of our society, sadly. And I think, they have taken one positive step to teach many lessons to girls and guys about life, of course, if taken constructively.

As expected, Numair blamed Rameen for what happened lately. His friend, Sheraz, wants him to keep himself away from all this satanic stuff but the cheap statement he gave about “khana and dessert” was enough for us viewers to explain his character even more; He was no less than an evil faced wild animal hiding behind the mask of caring and loving husband. One thing , we got to learn from Numair and Sheraz conversation is that the girls should try to keep themselves decent and poised in front of every male relative, even the closer ones. Who knows ,with which intentions they are keeping an eye on you and who knows what they will perceive from your ultra friendly attitude, just saying.

1

Aazar knew very well that Rameen will never ever reject to marry her ; They shared beautiful chemistry and mutual bonding that was not allowing him, in any way, to believe and accept Rameen’s decision of calling off their engagement. After that unrelenting step of Numair, uncertainty and instability in her mood kept on multiplying as a part of her personality ; Rameen kept on becoming more and more insecure day after day. It wasn’t Rameen’s fault that she had to remain quiet – She was saving her sister’s life by keeping her own life at stake. It wasn’t her mother’s fault either, she was doing it to extricate those miserable consequences that will create havoc in Rameen’s life in future.

2

Rameen’s life was no less than a torture till Aazar recollected himself and went to meet her ; He wanted to know that what exactly was in her mind that was persuading her to call off their engagement. Aazar’s feelings for Rameen were so pure that she was unable to resist herself from accepting the facts he put in front of her and she got agreed to get married to Aazar as soon as possible.

3

Right from the day of her mayoun till the end of her wedding ceremony, Numair’s thoughts kept on intimidating her ; She never wanted to face Numair in her life again but getting married to Aazar came with a cost and that was facing Numair almost every day. Sheraz got sick and tired of Numair and decided to put a full stop to his friendly relation with Numair par dheet Numair par koi asar nahi hua.Till now , Aazar was standing by Rameen’s side but how long will he stand, ye tou waqt he bataye ga..

Do share your thoughts on recent installment of Chup Raho.

Shanakht – Episode 06!

…& the awesomeness prevails. Another interesting episode & still the element of curiosity exist. I think this time the director (who also happens to be the writer) deserves to be given a due credit for tackling this script with such intelligence. I definitely want to see moreeee!

Ohkay so this time around, Rohaan & Hashim parted because Rohaan was planning his return to Pakistan. All that he said to Hashim about his fiancée showed that he wasn’t being judgmental at all, which was a very good thing to see. Just because he got engaged to a very liberal & modern girl didn’t mean that he decided to call the engagement off & in fact he felt that being a spouse, he’d try to mould her & if that wouldn’t happen, then he’d have to come to terms with her lifestyle, which he actually was ready for to some extent as well. I actually liked the fact that even though Rohaan seemed worried, he didn’t judge Eesha at all & rather thought of a solution instead of complaining.

Rohaan returned & as expected, he got a very cold welcome because his ‘huliya’ as they said came as a shock to his father, mother & sisters. To them, without a further a due, he became no one else but a ‘molvi’ & just because they were more worried about what people might think, Rohaan’s beard was a major issue. All this while, his mother & sisters definitely had a hard time seeing the change in his personality & more so in his appearance but it was only his father who may not have accepted the change in Rohaan but he pretty much understood that there was nothing he could do that would convince his son as he knew that Rohaan would have a more valid argument that too with the backing of Quran Majeed & Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (SAW). His mother felt that he was still a Muslim when he didn’t have a beard but Rohaan explained that he was still striving to become a better one & in clear words he told her that he would do anything for his mother but would never get rid of his beard because he was determined & nothing could undo that.

On the other hand, where Kashaf did feel sorry for the things she said to Annie & even apologized for her rants, once again earning the points, she convinced Annie for agreeing to their mother’s wish as well. It’s like everyone in the family was ready to use Annie for their benefit but weren’t ready to accept Annie for who she has become. Kashaf wanted her to get rid of the scarf so that the proposal doesn’t get rejected & she can marry Haris. Huma wanted Annie to get rid of the scarf so that she could get the perfect damaad she has been dreaming of. I know, to see what Annie did keeping the wishes of Kashaf & Huma in mind wasn’t appeasing to see but it was actually very realistic as well. This shows the mindset of those people who’d want their daughters to pretend to any extent just so that they can bag an eligible bachelor. This also depicts the conservative mindset that often people make it just so hard for you to follow what is right & force you to opt for something wrong & something that you don’t agree with. Annie half-heartedly submitted to her mother’s wishes but the way she broke down actually showed that she felt cheated & that too because of her ownself as she couldn’t do justice to the decision she took. It showed that removal of her headscarf affected her more than being forced by her mother to treat herself as a showpiece, which also was clearly visible in the glances she gave to her parents while sitting in front of Raheel & his mother.

Fortunately for Huma, Annie got engaged & Amjad didn’t have any objection to Haris’s proposal for Kashaf too. Huma feels she is lucky enough to have two perfect sons-in-law but she has yet to find out that her perfect damaad Raheel is far from being perfect. The new entry in this episode was Faryal (Kanza Wayne) who happens to be a university fellow & a good friend of Hashim. Seems like they both will have a relationship because Faryal seemed really interested in him. I know the acting skills of Kanza Wayne are kind of limited but at least to see another uncommon face in the drama feels like a breath of fresh air & for this I am ready to put up with her mediocre acting as well.

All in all, it was a great episode & the preview of the next one seemed far more interesting as well. Isn’t it amazing to see that both Rohaan & Annie are going through the same phase & facing the same situation in their lives? I am sure this will make them cherish each other a lot more & will make their relation grow stronger. Can’t wait for it to happen. Share your thoughts please! :)

6 Dramas That Need To End Now!

0

The “Big 3” (or 2 now that Geo is off the race) have promised to torture us beyond our tolerance level.  This has reached a limit when even their avid followers have stopped watching their shows.  They drag and stretch dramas, even those which have no story lines. I can’t choose to ignore them because I want my drama industry to flourish.

The list includes:

1. Mere Mehrbaan: From 7th Sky Entertainment, the director of Laa, Farooq Rind and writer of Ranjish Hi Sahi, Maha Malik, Mere Mehrbaan airs on Hum TV on Mondays. The story is regular, with two families_ one of Shaista and the other of Nayyara Begum. Shaista is the pure evil and Nayyara Begum is the pure good. Their daughters are exactly like them. Obviously, the good ones are facing all the problems in life and the evil ones are enjoying their lives. The problem is that the “problems” have been dragged so much that the drama doesn’t move an inch in a whole hour and it is stagnant.  There are many OTT scenes and they are truly annoying. So Hum TV, please end this drama because it is unbearable now.

123

2. Arranged Marriage: This drama also airs on Mondays but on ARY entertainment. The story is about a girl Roshanay who plays with dolls or plays cricket most of the time. She gets married to Ahmed who is in love with someone else. Agha Ali is once again playing the role of a torturous husband who hates his wife (remember Rukhsar? ) Roshanay becomes the regular chup chaap girl after marriage. The drama is stagnant for now since the only scenes that take place are Ahmed threatening Roshanay to take divorce from him otherwise he will make her life a living hell. He hasn’t done anything other than threatening though . He has been doing it for like 8 episodes!!

3. Janam Jali: This show airs on Thursdays on Hum.  It has nothing to offer accept a mother-in-law who wants grandsons only and could slaughter her daughter-in-laws if they don’t give birth to sons. The story has been stretched beyond compare and all the stereotypes have been thrown in. From annoying saas to shukki husband and harrassing  behnois to sick and wailing children asking for their mothers and oh yes, second wife.

912d07aea749a6f6a4105a165d8f8305

4. Mausam:  On Fridays we see Shazia and Saman who are cousins. Shazia loves Hasir, the guy who fell in love with Saman at first sight (Saman doesn’t know anything about it) . Shazia’s jealousy compelled her to turn against Saman and to get her married to her own fiance’.  Hashir tou hain hi majnu! He decides never to leave Saman. He tries to help her in every way but she keeps rejecting his help , unaware of  his feelings. Her husband spots Hashir near her and this leads to misunderstandings after which he tortures her. The worst part is, Saman’s mother knows everything (thanks to her amazing eavesdropping skills) and chooses to remain silent. Hashir decides to sacrifice for Saman and purposes Shazia. Shazia is over the moon and can’t wait to get married. The reason I want it to end is, that the story is not engaging. Hum TV has given us blockbusters after blockbusters on Fridays and now……

2243c3b20e6301869e17d793e28aade2

5. Aahista Aahista: One man with two wives is struggling to live. He has just been caught with the second one by the first wife. Ever woman in the drama whether his mother, his sister or his wives love him so much that they just can’t hate him. The story is being dragged and should end now!

123

6. Adhura Milan: I can’t explain the story here. That’s because there are thousands of tracks in this drama. This explains the reason of it’s dragging but doesn’t explain the over-the-top scenes or the unskilled actors. There’s an over-aged man caught between 3, I repeat, 3 wives and his one and only love. His one and only love being tortured by her husband.  A really long coma (taken from Indian dramas) . A person who wants to keep all the family wealth to herself. And so on. A-Plus please wrap up this drama quick!

0

HUM Sitaray’s new talk show which is going to be hosted by the designer HSY will be airing on 13th September every Saturday at 9 : 00 pm. HSY in an interview with Instep made it very clear that his show will not be inspired by shows that have aired in other countries. Mahira Khan’s talk show was inspired from Koffe With Karan, when asked if Hassan’s show will be on those lines too, he said, “It’s rather typical of us to always compare things even if they’re original….Besides, I’m a tea drinker. No coffee for me.”

He also added, “My vision is beyond Koffee With Karan. Tonite with HSY will neither be digging for gossip nor will it promote or project upcoming projects, it is a platform for the masses to get to know who our celebrities are and what they think about topics that do not necessarily pertain to their jobs,”

In an interview HSY shared that this is not the first time he was offered a show, “I have been offered shows many times before but I never had the time….I love TV and everyone knows that I love talking, so it seemed like a great time to start this up.”

The show promises to be interesting. HSY said in the interview, “So long as you’re my friend, you’re going to be on the show. You don’t have to be too famous, just be interesting.”

Ever since Mohib Mirza put up a picture with the caption “13th Feb 2015,” fans of both Mohib and Sanam Saeed have been thinking about what lies ahead.

“Luv Shuv is an entertaining film with comedy, action, romance and a bit of drama” according to the team.

This will be Nasir Khan’s first feature film. The cast will include natives of Mauritius, along with Sanam and Mohib. A Mauritian will be playing the villian in the movie. The details of the film have not been revealed yet.

“I will not have a semi-clothed woman dancing in my film to entertain people.” – Hamza Ali Abbasi

0

Hamza Ali Abbasi takes pride in the fact that he does not want to stick to hero roles only although he is the perfect candidate for the job. He mesmerized the viewers with his impeccable performance in Waar and Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi. The drama lovers were impressed by his work in Pyare Afzal but Hamza Ali Abbasi says, “People expect you to be a hero, you’re young , you look a certain way and people perceive you a certain way, and you end up being typecast. I don’t want that. Being a hero doesn’t involve a lot of acting. I love a challenging role because I’m not a hero — I’m an actor. In Kambakht, I deliberately play an ugly, crude character.”

Untitled3

While talking about his upcoming film Kambakht with Dawn News Hamza Ali Abbasi said that direction was his first love. While talking about his experience as a director he said, “I could have done much better as a director……It’s a full-time job behind the camera, and it’s a full-time job being in front of it. In the future I will not act in any film that I direct.”

Hamza Ali Abbasi added, “The film is an indie comedy….“I deliberately chose to make a comedy because I wanted to make people laugh. It doesn’t try to be anything else. I wanted to see if we could even make a film that was two hours’ long. If people are laughing for a third of that time in the cinema, for me, that’s good enough.”

Talking about upcoming films and those that have already been shows, Hamza said, “Jalaibee is another film I’m looking forward to, because I know it’ll entertain me………Tamanna was technically sound, but as a cinemagoer, it didn’t draw me. Seedlings is an excellent film, but it didn’t bring people to the cinema. We need comedies. The primary motive to make films has to be entertainment — there can’t be a divide between that and creating awareness.”

Hamza said, “I’m being pressured right now to put an item number in the film. When it comes to giving something to the people, I don’t think we should make nudity and vulgarity a part of entertainment. We shouldn’t want people to appreciate it. I will not have a semi-clothed woman dancing in my film to entertain people. I think that is the lowest form of entertainment.”

Untitled2

Hamza Ali Abbasi does not believe in the Bollywood formula to make hit films at all. He said in the interview, “If the Bollywood formula was going to make a film successful, MHSA would have been a bigger hit than Waar.”

Talking about his future ventures, Hamza Ali Abbasi said, “The next film that I’m planning is in collaboration with the ISPR….“It has a strong female in the leading role, someone who is pretty awesome as a character. The ISPR has just come onboard regarding this; we need their military support and logistics to pull this one off.”

Hamza Ali Abbasi also hopes to make a film on Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. We wish him all the best!

Nickelback’s “Edge Of A Revolution” Video Endorses The Azadi March

0

Nickelback is a Canadian music band that was formed in the year 1995. According to Wikipedia, “Nickelback is one of the most commercially successful Canadian groups, having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and ranking as the eleventh best-selling music act, and the second best-selling foreign act in the U.S. of the 2000s, behind “The Beatles”.

The latest single by Nickelback titled “Edge Of A Revolution” is getting tons of attention in Pakistan especially by the PTI followers because the video of the song features among other revolutions in the world, the Azadi March by Imran Khan. There are pictures of Imran Khan and PTI flags running in the background while the band sings the song.

Untitled1

The lyrics of the songs are as follows:

“Edge Of A Revolution”

Head high, protest line
“Freedom” scribbled on your sign
Headline, New York Times
Standing on the edge of a revolution

Hey, hey, just obey.
Your secret’s safe with the NSA
In God we trust or the CIA?
Standing on the edge of a revolution

Yeah, we’re standing on the edge of a revolution
Revolution, revolution, revolution

No, we won’t give up, we won’t go away
‘Cause we’re not about to live in this mass delusion
No, we don’t wanna hear another word you say
‘Cause we know they’re all depending on mass confusion
No, we can’t turn back, we can’t turn away
‘Cause it’s time we all relied on the last solution
No, we won’t lay down and accept this fate
‘Cause we’re standing on the edge of a revolution

Wall Street, common thief
When they get caught they all go free
A brand new yacht and a finders fee
Standing on the edge of a revolution

Same shit, different day
Can’t keep fed if I can’t get paid
We’ll all be dead if the shit don’t change
Standing on the edge of a revolution

Yeah, we’re standing on the edge of a revolution
Revolution, revolution, revolution

No, we won’t give up, we won’t go away
‘Cause we’re not about to live in this mass delusion
No, we don’t wanna hear another word you say
‘Cause we know they’re all depending on mass confusion
No, we can’t turn back, we can’t turn away
‘Cause it’s time we all relied on the last solution
No, we won’t lay down and accept this fate
‘Cause we’re standing on the edge of a revolution

We’ll all be dead if this shit don’t change
Hey hey hey hey

What do we want? We want the change
And how’re we gonna get there? Revolution
What do we want? We want the change
Standing on the edge of a revolution

What do we want? We want the change
And how’re we gonna get there? Revolution
What do we want? We want the change
Standing on the edge of a revolution

No, we won’t give up, we won’t go away
‘Cause we’re not about to live in this mass delusion
No, we don’t wanna hear another word you say
‘Cause we know they’re all depending on mass confusion
No, we can’t turn back, we can’t turn away
‘Cause it’s time we all relied on the last solution
No, we won’t lay down and accept this fate
‘Cause we’re standing on the edge of a revolution

What do we want? We want the change
And how’re we gonna get there? Revolution
What do we want? We want the change
Standing on the edge of a revolution

What do we want? We want the change
And how’re we gonna get there? Revolution
What do we want? We want the change
Standing on the edge of a revolution

The song supports revolution as a means to get any kind of change in the system. It supports revolutionaries all around the world and tells them not to give up. Watch the video and see for yourself.

Aahista Aahista – Episode 15!

0

Tauba Tauba! Don’t you hate it when a 45 y/o conniving man stammers to prove he’s innocent? Don’t you hate it when a person who’s supposed to die (Bumble Bee) lives because only God knows which chakki ka atta she ate? Don’t you hate it when you have to watch Aahista Aahista, Aahista Aahista?

*Sigh* apni taraf se becharon ne bara hi koi twist dala tha, which actually made no sense at all. Haya was swinging on her Sartaaj’s shoulder when she & Awazaar got busted. That point was ohkay, but what didn’t make sense was that even after Sofia caught them red-handed, she said all the things she wasn’t supposed to say but forgot to utter one single word & that was WHY? WHY was Haya clinging onto Awazaar like that? WHY did Awazaar let Haya get so close to him? During that confrontation I thought this would be the time when Awazaar will spill the beans but oh boy! I must ask Bumble Bee ne isay kya kha k paida kiya tha? Itna dheet admi? My Goodness!

1

I thought after finding out the flick between Haya & Awazaar, Sofia will pretty much understand what was going on but still someone who has been so literate & in her right state of mind couldn’t reckon the fact that Haya could be Awazaar’s wife of all the things. Amidst the havoc, Sofia was more worried ke Awazaar ke nashtay ke anday thanday na ho jayein. Give me a break!

I think this slap should’ve been enough for Haya to wake up from her deep slumber that even shows the signs on her face now but I don’t think she got the point still? If Awazaar had loved her as much as he claimed, he would’ve swooped in the cat fight & told Sofia about Haya’s status but just because he lisps, wo apni baat samjha na saka. Even when Nowsherwaan Uncle asked him, he returned without even answering.

The only time I felt bad actually for Awazaar was when he burnt the toasts. I mean, isn’t it so sad that he is deprived of hearing the POP sound of an automatic toaster? :/ It’s like music to ears when one’s preparing the breakfast but I think just because Awazaar was born in the 1950’s, that manual toaster belongs to that era, hence it requires one’s complete attention otherwise you’ll see your brown bread turning black, acting more like a mirror to you so that you could face your kalay kartoot. :/ I actually feel so bad that I’d request all the readers to observe a minute of silence please! *pop* woot woot, my bread’s ready!

3

Haya went to Nowsherwaan uncle’s place, but after that she vanished like a Casper. Kahan gai kisi ko kuch pata nahi? But Sofia took it as an opportunity to clear off Haya’s belongings, as if she had so much? All this while I thought Awazaar was living in a mansion but seems like they didn’t even have a space to accommodate Haya’s letters.

Sofia overheard Awazaar talking to Bumble Bee on the phone & still she was in a denial or let’s say had no mind whatsoever to connect the dots to understand what was going on behind her back? In the initial episodes when Awazaar goes to Pakistan, we heard them both talk to each other about Haya where Sofia even asked Awazaar that Haya was his baby cousin or so & for this reason I just don’t understand what took Sofia so long to realize that Haya was no one else but Awazaar’s cousin & possibly his wife?

Looks like seriously is drama mai Awazaar ka koi kaam hai hi nahi because the ladies do everything & take things in their hands & for this reason Sofia decided to break the ice & let Bumble Bee know about herself. The things Bumble Bee said to Sofia showed that Bumble Bee was under the influence of sedation inflicted by the sleeping pills she takes.

2

Finally, Sofia has found out that her Awazaar is not so innocent & she shouldn’t fall prey to his lisping methods to measure his innocence. The preview of the next episode to be honest looked engaging though. LOL! Itna kuch hone k baad shayad waqay hi mai they want to show us something. I honestly believe that they all sighted a mood for a vacation & when they landed there, they decided to make a drama to kill the boredom. Seriously, I wish this drama ends soon & not at all Aahista Aahista!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Meera ready to marry Imran Khan

Film star meera has responded to the call of Imran Khan who is currently leading the protests in Islamabad. In past weeks Imran Khan announced his plans for a “Naya Pakistan” and his intention of marriage once “Naya Pakistan” becomes reality.  Responding to that call Meera said, if Imran Khan proposes her she will instantly accept the offer.

As per Meera, Imran Khan is very good looking and hot. Meera also advised to choose Riaz Ganji’s designed dress for marriage. Meera also want to see Imran Khan as Prime Minister in the “Naya Pakistan” perhaps to be the first lady of “Naya Pakistan”.

Now what are your thoughts on this “Naya Pakistan” where Meera is planning to be the first lady.

Namaloom Afraad, coverage in electronic media

Namaloom Afraad is an upcoming film releasing on Eidul Azha. It was announced in a press conference in Karachi. Surprisingly the event is not covered widely in electronic media. The media partner of this film is Hum TV which does not own a news channel. In leading news channels of ARY News, Dunya, Express, Dawn only Geo News covered the event widely and here is the news report. Interestingly the report has not covered lead artists of film Fahad Mustafa (Associated with ARY) and Mohsin Abbas Haider (Associated with Dunya Tv) who work for other channels.

http://vimeo.com/105466322

It is after a long gap that Geo News has covered a Pakistani film (Dukhtar is also covered being distributed by Geo films) , otherwise Geo News and other channels of this group as well as Jang Group of publications have a complete blackout on coverage of films like Waar, Zinda Bhaag, Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi and others despite record breaking success of Waar. Instead Geo and Jang group served all their energies on promoting Bollywood movies released in Pakistan in the same time period being distributor of these films under their sub entity Geo Films. The main reason could be the rival ARY films as distributor or something else not known to public. Since crisis of Geo Tv from mid May 2014, Hum Tv is serving as media partner for the films which were expected to be released by Geo films like Kick on Eidul Fitr.

This time Namaloom Afraad is covered by Geo, but ARY group has skipped it perhaps due to business rivalry. Summing up the discussion i think the entertainment desk of all media channels need to come out of their prejudice and cover all the entertainment and cultural activities which are not channel specific.

Shikwa-Episode 18

0

My God! I am all praises for today’s episode. I must say this play has stood out primarily because of it’s natural (not to forget unpredictable) twists and turns. The incredible thing about this play is the fact that the main developments will be nowhere near your expectations. And I think this is exactly where the writer succeeds :)

Needless to say, the highlight of the episode for me was Mehar and Sidra’s emotional confrontation. Mehar’s character has to be one of the MOST natural characters of the season. And the writer,in particular, has etched it out perfectly.

Untitled

Initially, it was sad to see Mehar preferring a guy like Yasir (for whom she had nothing but strong contempt) for her very own sister. Since our heroine is conscientious, deep down, she knew that what she is doing is by all means wrong and unjustifiable. But there were a couple of things that literally led to Mehar’s change of mind. Firstly, that conversation with Saqib proved to be an eye-opener, because it was then that Saqib talked sense into her and rightly pointed it out that it’s her jealousy that’s compelling her to see her own sister go through the same bitter circumstances that she went through. And then, of course, the scene where Sidra poured her feelings. Mehar then realised how her envy had concealed all the love and affection she had for her sister. Seeing Sidra helpless and teary, Mehar realised that if she couldn’t have a life partner of her choice, at least seeing Sidra with the guy she wants to be with would serve as redemption. Watching that particular scene, I couldn’t help pushing this thought out of my mind: Kaash Sidra ka role koi aur actress play kar rahi hoti!! Hayee- me and my wishful thinking :'(

Untitled1

One good thing was to finally see Mehar’s mother standing up for her daughter. She wasn’t that strong-headed when it came to Mehar but at least she mustered the courage to support Sidra in front of her extremely manipulative relatives. I thought ‘blood was thicker than water’, but now I am thinking of  challenging these proverbs :P

Untitled2

I think now is the right time to end this play. This was the 18th episode and I am expecting it to end within a week or two. The viewers are enjoying it, the charm hasn’t faded and we are getting a strong underlying message, so what’s the point of dragging it now? We don’t want it to suffer the dreaded fate of ‘Shukk’, do we?

I am eager to see what you guys think of the latest episode. So please share your thoughts!

Firaaq – Episode 1

0

This first episode was very engaging; it kept me glued to my TV screen right from the get-go. Drama serial Firaaq has been written by Mustafa Afridi, directed by Aabis Raza and produced by MD Productions. The first episode introduced the viewers to all the main characters in the drama and their backgrounds. The main protagonist of the play Payman (Sanam Saeed) is a Pakistani American who may have been living in America for a long time but her controlling and conservative mother (Uzma Gillani) does not allow her to adopt anything that is American. Not only that, Payman has grown up in a very strict environment, she is constantly judged and criticized. Payman is not happy with her life because of her situation. Her mother has a very desi set-up in which she is the boss of the house. Her second husband plays a second fiddle to her because she runs a restaurant and runs the house therefore she has no respect or regard for him either (anyone remember Bilquees Kaur?). Yes, Uzma Gillani’s character reminded me of Bilquess Kaur because Bilquees’ husband and children used to get the same treatment from her too. Bilquees was also loud and bossy and she had a very desi set-up in her house. The only big difference is that Payman’s mother is not playing the lead in the drama and she is probably not going to be around for long either but her character definitely seemed to be inspired from Bilquees Kaur’s character. Payman’s step-father (Syed Mazhar Ali) on the other hand is a very soft-spoken and easy going person. It was great to see Syed Mazhar Ali on screen after a long time.

firaaq

Payman’s brother Shams (Junaid Khan) left his mother’s house when she remarried after her husband’s death. Sham’s wife Sara (Cybil Chaudhry) wants to have kids but Shams made it very clear to her before they got married that he did not want any children. Sara meets a family friend (Noor Hassan) and shares her worries with him and he suggests that she should see a counselor. The counselor (Mohib Mirza) suggests that Sara’s troubles will only be over if she can reunite Shams with his mother. Personally, I did not agree with the advice at all because anyone with such an authoritative, suspicious and unreasonable mother would not want to have kids because they would not be sure if they will be able to give that child the kind of life which every child deserves. I felt like Shams is too afraid that he may not be able to be a good father that is why he does not want kids. Anyway, Sara decides to meet Shams’ mother and what an interesting meeting that was! Shams’ mother may regret losing her son but she is not very eager to win him back either!

The preview of the next episode promised another happening episode therefore I am definitely looking forward to it. Sara’s plan to get the mother and son back together is going to backfire in the worst way possible. Sanam Saeed looked really cute in those glasses and she owned her character. I could feel all the pent up anger and frustration in her expressions, body language and voice. When I first heard Cybil Chaudry talk I thought her voice was dubbed but by the end of the episode I liked her character and acting. Junaid Khan is not among my favorite actors but he is definitely well-suited for this role. I am waiting to see more of Mohib Mirza and Noor Hassan.

Overall, this was a very promising beginning. All the scenes were short and to-the-point , the characters are interesting, the story has potential and the episode was very well-directed. It was refreshing to see so many talented young actors on-screen. I wish people who are responsible for writing the plots of dramas online would not have access to more information than the viewers would like to know. I read the plot summary online and now I know exactly what is going to happen next! I highly recommend this first episode to anyone who has not watched it yet.

Humaima Malik signs three more Bollywood movies in India

0

Humaima’s Bollywood debut Raja Natwarlal has already been released on 28th August. Initially Humaima was into dramas and has worked in Pakistani movie Bol too. About this contract, she said:

I have a three-film contract with Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The first film is yet to begin but I have already been signed up. I guess he is caught up with P.K. now.

Also, it was heard through some sources that UTV has refused the signing of three films with her. She said:
That’s not true, I’ve heard this before but honestly it’s all humbug. I have no issues with UTV or Emraan Hashmi. I was signed by UTV for only one film.

She was asked that there would be a lot of work now, so does she plan to move to India, on this Humaima quipped:
I think I have already moved to India for good. There was a time when I used to juggle between London, Dubai and Pakistan. Now, India has become second home.

When Humaima was asked about the unsuccessful career of Pakistani actresses like Veena Malik and Meera, she said:
As far as I know, the last Pakistani actress who made a successful debut in Bollywood was Zeba Bhaktiyar.I don’t know of any other Pakistani actress in Hindi cinema. I’d like to follow in Zeba’s footsteps. I’m clueless about so-called Pakistani actresses in Hindi films.

It is quite an honor for a Pakistani actress to get three movies at a time. We hope that Humaima makes successful change for Pakistani artists in Bollywood.
