Hania Amir made her acting debut with the film Janaan. She was appreciated by viewers for her looks and her acting. The good news for all those people who saw a promising star in Hania Amir is that she will be making her acting debut very soon with a drama which will air on Urdu1. The title of the drama has not been revealed yet but the BTS pictures are being circulated on the web.
Hania Amir will play the role of Naila and Ali Abbas will play the lead with her by playing the role of Ahmed. Hania Amir promised her fans that the drama will be very “interesting”.
Mawra Hocane is known for playing the roles of damsel in distress frequently but this time Mawra is very excited about her upcoming project, which she admits has a lot of crying but she also informed her fans that her upcoming play Sammi will offer something new for the viewers. Talking about the project with Dawn Images Mawra Hocane revealed that Sammi is,
“a social cause-based serial, being produced in collaboration with the John Hopkins University.”

Famous designer Zainab Chottani is behind Mawra’s outfits for the drama serial which will attempt to achieve much more than just entertaining the viewers. Not much has been revealed about the actual content of the drama but Mawra shared her excitement on instagram by stating,
“I am all things thankful, anxious, shy, fearful [and] nervous as I was on my first ever shoot, but this happens to be the most fascinating element about the craft of acting, the process of unlearning the old [and] re-learning like a beginner all over again!”
Mawra Hocane also said in an interview with Dawn News,
“My craft fascinates me and surprises me but the fact that I am coming back to television screens in December after a year is giving me sleepless nights, anxiety and all the more excitement! I can’t wait to share my reinvented self through Sammi, who is absolutely special.”

Ohkay so, things have now become quite interesting in Thora Sa Aasman. I must say I am really glad that the channel decided to air this drama twice a week because it covers more content & even the pace seems faster, also another added bonus is that the drama will end quickly in comparison to one episode per week.
Even though everyone around Ambar felt that she was unreasonable, there was something still were admirable about her where she trusted people & walked an extra mile for those she loved but now, the same personality trait has become her biggest problem because she is choosing to trust one wrong person after another. She believed in Rakhsi & Rakshi snatched everything away from her & now she is trusting Haroon Kamal, without even knowing how manipulative, conniving & negative he is, or may be she can see that but chooses to not to. Yes, Haroon Kamal stayed persistent & he tried to win Ambar over, but Ambar should have gone with the very first impression she had of him in stead of curbing everything aside & actually developing feelings for him. The news of Talha’s engagement hit the nail in the coffin & the last glimmer of hope in Ambar’s heart died, that is the moment she decided that she could open a window for Haroon Kamal to step into her life & she went ahead with that to make it happen!
I actually really liked seeing Safiya emerging as such a strong individual who was not only taking care of herself but was doing everything to keep her family afloat too. On Fatima’s request, Shaheer helped Safiya in finding a job & that’s where I felt a connection between the two. Safiya definitely is the sort of a girl Shaheer would like & that is why the same Shaheer who always seemed shy was now comfortably conversing with Safiya. I think both Shaheer & Safiya will complement each other in terms of mental wavelength & personality because Safiya is very wise & mature & so is Shaheer.
On Safiya’s request, Muneeza & Ambar moved to the rental apartment with her but they both seemed uncomfortable with the idea of living in such a place. Actually, I was happy to see that Muneeza started trusting Safiya’s judgement a little more & understood how drawing a line with Haroon Kamal was necessary but sadly when it came to Ambar, she chose to go with what Haroon Kamal said as she is so used to the idea of a comfortable & luxurious life, that now she would go to any length to achieve it as she knows that Haroon Kamal can provide that for her at this stage of her life. Ambar is forced to face the reality that for Haroon she wasn’t a priority of his life, that is why after a lot of thinking, she decides to propose marriage to him because she wants some sort of security after what she has been through & sadly, this proved that Ambar chose to become another Rakshi! Even though what Ambar is doing is wrong, but what she said to Muneeza was partially true. Muneeza took everything she had for granted & didn’t pay attention to the fact that one day everything could drift away from her, till this point, Ambar was right but the way she blamed Muneeza & implied that it was because of Muneeza that Mansoor got interested in Rakshi, she was wrong. Everyone thinks that someone else is responsible for what they are going through but, no one has an idea that it is only Haroon Kamal who transpired everything & Mansoor’s entire family turned into his puppet. It was sad to see that even after taking everything away from Ambar, he was now trying to cause a rift between Ambar & Safiya only because he saw that Safiya couldn’t stand him!!!
Rakshi has started showing her true colors, from spending extravagantly to getting involved with someone, she has done it all in such a short span of time & Mansoor seems to regret his decision but like they say, it’s already too late to do the damage control. Mansoor has slowly & steadily handed over everything to Rakshi & now it seems it won’t be too long when Rakshi will throw him out of that house too!
Nayab & Samar have developed feelings for each other but they have no idea what life has in store for them. I am sure things will be revealed when Zarka will make an entry in their lives once again. Shaheer seemed a little too disturbed by the way Shahista Kamal was interfering in his life but he actually lost it when she told him that he is her son. Sadly, Fatima’s nightmares are materializing & she knows that the day isn’t too far when she will have to answer all the questions. The last scene suggested that Fatima’s brother & sister in law showed up at her doorstep, I am sure they must’ve come to mooch off some money from her because they never really cared for her but for themselves, or may be, either Shahista or Zarka must’ve sent them to convince Fatima to send their kids back, by paying them a huge amount, you never know!
Overall, these two episodes were quite gripping in comparison to some of the previous episodes. Finally, things are unfolding & I can’t wait to see what else is left in store for us. Please share your thoughts about these episodes of Thora Sa Aasman.
This latest episode of Kitni Girhein Baaki Hein was written by Khalid Ahmed and it showed another story of betrayal. This time around the ending was slightly less predictable and there were at least two twists in the story which had some shock value. The characters were well-defined which showed the clear vision of the writer and the director. The first scene of the episode showed Alia (Ayesha Omer) putting Ayaz (Hammad Farooqui) down because she thought he was a “loser”. Alia was shown as a practical girl who wanted Ayaz to get proper education and Ayaz was shown as someone who wanted easy money. Ayaz’s step-father (Aly Khan) on the other hand was shown as someone who was accomplished and mature but definitely not someone who was going to let his step-son dictate things to him. While the characters in the story were believable, the last twist in the story came out of nowhere and wasn’t very convincing. Even if Azmat and Alia had decided to be together, there was no reason for him to gift her the house. (Ambien) This last development could have been handled more intelligently.
The inclusion of the chess board and the manner in which Ayaz and Azmat played this game was a very creative way of showing the power struggle between these two people. I would give the person who came up with this idea full marks. The opening scene in the gym as well was a good start in terms of location. Also the relationship of the characters with each other gave this episode a different feel. The story was a little too simple at times but well-executed. The whole episode banked on three actors and all of them breathed life into their respective roles. Aly Khan’s stiff body language went well with his character, Hammad Farooqui was also well-suited for playing the role of someone who considered himself very smart when actually he did not even know what he needed to do with his life and Ayesha Omer owned her character as well. Her make-up however was rather disappointing, it was even more so when I read Nabila’s name in the credits. Ayesha Omer looks much prettier in Bulbulay and she does not need so much make up. Even her hair which usually look beautiful effortlessly did not look that great.
Overall, this episode was better than the last one but it wasn’t fascinating enough and somewhat simple. The production values, acting and the direction definitely stood out more than the overall story.

The third instalment of Dukh Sukh was titled “15 saal baad”. Dr Salaar (Saleem Sheikh) returns to Pakistan after a span of 15 years in the US. While having lunch at his friend’s home, he is reminded of his past. His friend’s wife wonders why he never got married despite being an eligible bachelor with a successful career. Salaar is reminded of his past back to the time when he was completing his house job. While attending to the paediatric ward, a young woman (Fatima Effendi) rushes him to see a young boy, Moon, who is suffering from a high fever. Being in the profession, Salaar sees patients day in an out and knows that each patient deserves to be treated as a priority. The young woman gets restless and accuses him of being unsympathetic and he explains that she needs to be patient as the medicine will take time to take effect.
Salaar’s friend teases him saying he’s fallen head over heels in love with a married woman and Salaar is upset to think of how cruel her parents may be who pushed her into marrying at a young age. While discharging the young boy, Salaar finds out that the young woman is not the mother but rather Mimi Khala and this brings an instant glimmer of hope.
Mimi aka Mahrukh happens to have developed feelings for Salaar too in the short while that they crossed paths at the hospital. Mahrukh’s sister passed away and her father lives in Saudi. She’s currently living with her brother-in-law Parvez Bhai who travels frequently for work so she looks after the young boy, Moon. Salaar and Mahrukh decide that they want to get married so Salaar tells Mahrukh that he will return home and bring his parents back to seek her hand in marriage. Mahrukh’s father returns temporarily and Parvez suggests that he agrees to marry if Mahrukh to him to ensure that Moon is not neglected. Parvez explains that he will eventually have to marry and who better than Mahrukh to fill the gap of a mother. On hearing this, Mahrukh urges Salaar to hurry back. At Salaar’s home, his parents have gone ahead and fixed his marriage to his sister’s nand without even seeking his consent. Salaar feels trapped and tells Mahrukh that the only way out is for both of them to elope.
Salaar feels helpless as his mother convinces him that he’ll never be able to lead a peaceful life with a woman he eloped with and also create issues for his sister. Salaar decides to leave for the US on the night he’s supposed to meet Mahrukh and stays single out of guilt. When his friend hands him the letter than was given by Mahrukh, Salaar realizes that Mahrukh too, never showed up as she had a conversational with her father who overheard her making plans to elope and he cautions her that she will never have any respect in society if she treads this path and she also feels torn between her love for her nephew Moon who has growing to becomes dependent on her. Mahrukh’s parting letter was one where she explains her situation and further explains to Salaar to live a life and marry a woman of his family’s choosing…
The closing scene shows a man who reflects at the last 15 years of his life living in guilt whereby he could’ve actually lived! I found the narrative quite simple yet interesting. It was a pleasant surprise to see Saleem Sheikh on screen and I can’t recall the last time I saw Fatima Effendi either. The downside has to be the casting choices for the supporting characters. Maybe it’s due to budget constraints, but I find the drama is not casting actors that can act in supporting roles! I’m certain there are some very competent actors who can be selected and this happens to be a huge drawback. The production values are not up to the standards we have become accustomed to so that is definitely an area that should be improved.
This episode opened with Saba lying to her friend and most importantly to herself! She decided to pretend that she had moved on when actually she felt the exact same way as she always had. The scene after the nikkah went to show that the reality of Saman and Irtiza’s new relationship hit her hard and the viewers saw her wishing repeatedly that it would have been better if Saman died in that accident with her parents. This scene could have been more emotional if it wasn’t prolonged because sometimes less is more. Through this scene the viewers understood why Saba looked in the mirror and turned away in the first scene of the first episode. She blamed herself because there was a time when she wished Saman would have died. Saba’s reaction once again was realistic but one thing which was missing from this episode were conversations between Saba and Irtiza in particular which would have added more sentimental value to the recent developments which were once again very important but not as effective as one would have hoped for them to be. The main reason for this is that instead of relying on powerful conversations the director and the writer both have relied on much more simple techniques like chance meetings between Irtiza and Saba, conversations which are a little too simple and showing Saba’s expressions and reactions while the wedding was going on. Also, instead of showing the entire song, the director could have covered Saba’s state of mind and some conversations between Saba and her mother would have filled in what can easily be termed as missing pieces since they have hardly talked to each other in these 6 episodes. Adeel Hussein’s guest appearance must have worked really well for the film but in the drama this particular song seemed like a commercial break mainly because of the participation of a character which isn’t even a part of the drama. Having said that I must add that Adeel Hussein’s dance moves were truly impressive.
Once again dadi and Saba’s scenes were quite disappointing. The logic dadi gave Saba for hiding her feelings was too typical and devoid of any feelings. Dadi has been shown as someone who loves Saba and is like a friend to her. Something more positive from her to make Saba understand the situation would have been more heart-warming especially because Saba shared her feelings with dadi long before Saman came to live with them.
Tonight’s episode was going really well until Saman starting talking about how she was going to miss Saba because she wasn’t even going anywhere! This scene however was rather ironic especially because Saba felt all this pain for a completely different reason. Irtiza and Saman’s conversation on the night of their wedding completely fell flat because of Armeena Rana Khan’s confusing expressions. If Saman was so happy why did she look like she had just seen a ghost? There are some actors who are natural and there are others who try so hard to portray the feelings of their characters on screen yet they fail to do it altogether, Armeena Rana Khan sadly falls in that category.
It was surprising watching Safeer tell his mother about Sonia but there was nothing surprising about his mother’s reaction. Safeer is going to be another one of those husbands who have nothing going for them. The preview of the next episode showed Sonia announcing the news of her pregnancy which was definitely shocking since we don’t know yet whether they are married or not.
Bin Roye’s story doesn’t have the dramatic peaks which one would expect from a script which technically relies solely on relationships and emotions. The only aspect of the drama which has been translated on screen better than everything else is the emotional chaos in Saba’s life. Most of the characters are one-dimensional and unfortunately so far the directors and the writer have not gone out of their way to establish the relationships between some of the primary characters. This drama could have been wholesome entertainment if the makers paid more attention to detail. Lack of potent performances and absence of strong supporting characters is another reason why Bin Roye is nothing more than light entertainment for now. Most of the viewers like myself are waiting to be blown away but it just isn’t happening. I was expecting Bin Roye to be very filmy and a visual treat after watching the first episode but right now it isn’t too filmy and although every episode has quite a few visually pleasing scenes to its credit but the viewers have definitely seen dramas which were far more appealing visually. Bin Roye relies heavily on Mahira Khan’s star power and her performance, which just isn’t enough or even fair.

Ohkay so, this episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat was pretty good. Even though knowing the story beforehand is a drawback for those who have watched the first season, but what makes this season worth a watch is the fact that it is a feel good drama. I have started to appreciate the detailing the director has added this time around because that way when the story will progress, we will get a chance to relate to the characters more & more.
This episode gave us an insight into all the characters & their perspective about love & life in general. We have Hammad, who doesn’t believe in the emotion of love, that is why he makes fun of his friend who says that he is in love. Hammad is a non-serious & an irresponsible sort of a person which is only because he has lived such a comfortable life till date. Hammad has never developed a sense of responsibility because his life never demanded him to be responsible in the first place. Hammad lives such a life where everything, every luxury is just a call away from him, that is why this comfort has shaped up his character like that, but what I liked the most about Hammad is that he may be non-serious, but he most certainly is not immature. Hammad is also not someone who runs away from his family, in fact he holds his relationships close to his heart, that is the reason why he is seen being connected to each & every single family member of his, starting from his father to his nephew Sunny. Another great quality that Hammad possesses is the fact that he takes care of every single person around him, that is why he tells Emaad that he will be sending some presents for Shakir & Nighat, which he should hand over to them without informing their family about it. It shows that Hammad might not want to be in Pakistan for long, but it doesn’t mean that he has forgotten all those people who he spent a chunk of his life with. I must say, I like how they are developing the characters & giving us some more details about them with each passing episode.
While Hammad is someone who finds the idea of love funny, we have Imaan, who actually finds beauty in every emotion one feels. She is a very subtle character & is quite introvert, but she does have a personality & she does have emotions that she likes to keep to herself. Imaan can be labelled as a dreamer because of which she loves her books & stays lost in them. Sunny seems to have become a part of Molvi Sahab & his family’s life, that is why he is getting influenced by them. Sunny loves spending time with Imaan & Haya too & their scenes were done beautifully.
Abdullah has arrived & on Molvi Aleemuddin’s request, he chooses to live with them. Abdullah likes Imaan too, that is why he feels content by being connected to Imaan & enjoys being surrounded by Imaan’s belongings. Aleemuddin has started depending on Abdullah too, that is why slowly & steadily he has started to involve him in the matters related to the Masjid he takes care of.
Hammad finally decides to come to Pakistan but that is only because he feels like & not because he got influenced by his mother or father’s requests. Hammad is someone who does what he deems fit that is why now when he felt like, he came to Pakistan to spend some time with his family. Amjad wants Hammad to take care of his business so that he can be focused on his political career but Hammad doesn’t fancy the idea. I must say I really liked the bond Hammad & Emaad shared, it’s like whenever Hammad wanted to know all the latest happenings in his family, he would speak to Emaad.
Overall, this episode was a good watch. I must say the precap of the next episode made me hopeful because looks like they are not going to slow down the pace a lot & will keep moving things forward, which is definitely necessary, otherwise I felt that may be a lot of detailing will compromise on the pace of the drama in general. All the actors are doing a brilliant job, it was good to see Imran Abbas getting more coverage in this episode & getting to showcase his amazing acting skills. Sadia Khan looks beautiful as Imaan but I wish even she gets more coverage & dialogues. The entire scene where Hammad is questioning the cupid & the door of Imaan’s room opens was quite filmy & interesting, it’s like they have added the quotient of telepathy between the two which is something definitely unique. I had a good time watching this episode & I hope you guys did too & oh before concluding the review, I would like to mention that I loved watching the scenes which Sunny was a part of, finally we have a kid who actually looks & acts like a kid – innocent, cute & definitely not pakka hua. On that note, this is it from my side, please share your thoughts about this lovely episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat.
After watching Mann Mayal I vowed to skip any drama which starred Aisha Khan but here I am watching and reviewing a play in which Aisha Khan plays the leading role. I must say that she has redeemed herself by choosing to play a strong role in Khuda Mera Bhi Hai and so far she has done complete justice to the character assigned to her. It is always refreshing watching dramas which attempt to achieve a higher purpose especially when they manage to do so with clarity. So far only 3 episodes of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai have gone on air but they have proved that this drama is off to a strong start mainly because of the variation in characters, the strong female lead, addressing an issue which isn’t addressed very often and also because it is putting some powerful messages forward with utmost precision. The very first scene of the first episode pretty much summed up Mahgul’s character. When she asked Sanam’s husband how he would feel if his wife hit him like that and later on the way she made sure that Sanam does not go back to that man went to show that she was not the sort of person who would compromise when she is supporting someone who has been wronged. Her stance was clear and her personality introduced perfectly in these three episodes. Her conversation with Zain about her own personality in the previous episode and whatever she said to her mother in law in this episode showed she was outspoken and uncompromising when she knew she was right.
Although Mahgul is a strong woman but at the same time she is caring, loving and sensitive. She is practical but not heartless or insensitive, these aspects of her character’s personality make it more likeable and human at the same time. Mahgul’s relationship with her mother Savera (Saba Hameed) has also been established well in these three episodes. Both these women are free of any kind of insecurities. Mahgul’s mother has no shame in admitting that she still loves her husband even though she chose not to live with him any more because he was already married and never told her. He also hit her when she confronted him and that is when she decided to part ways. She is another strong woman who knows what she needs to do to protect herself but at the same time is still in love with her husband and never took divorce from him. The viewers haven’t been introduced to Mahgul’s father yet. Saba Hameed fits like a glove in the role assigned to her, just the way she always does.
Zain Hassan’s (Syed Jibran) side of the story started with Zain landing in Pakistan from New York. He is the son of Mahgul’s employer (Mehmood Aslam), who is exceptionally fond of Mahgul. Zain’s mother Arshi (Irsa Ghazal) however does not like Mahgul at all and for now she is playing the zalim Samaj. Mahgul however is not the kind of bahu who would let such a mother in law influence her in any way. Zain takes his time knowing Mahgul, ultimately falls for her and the attraction is mutual. Syed Jibran and Aisha Khan’s on screen chemistry has made Mahgul and Zain’s track more interesting. Zain and his brother Zahir (Imran Ashraf) both do not agree with the way their mother looks at things. Their father too does not agree with his wife but he respects and loves her. Zain has been shown as a mature and responsible person.
Tonight’s episode in particular was fast-paced. Zain and Mahgul did not just get married but they also had their first baby and with this latest development, the real story will start. The last scene of tonight’s episode clearly suggested that this is going to be a story of an intersex child. The pace of this episode also showed that the writer did not want to waste time showing family politics but the main focus was Zain and Mahgul’s relationship. The way Zain took care of Mahgul during her pregnancy went to show just how special this baby was for him. The timeline was slightly confusing in tonight’s episode but overall it was an impactful episode with no filler scenes and it ended at a note which gave the viewers a reason to tune into Khuda Mera Bhi Hai next week.
So far this drama is completely free of clichés. The biggest cliché the writer has managed to avoid is class difference. Usually in dramas the biggest issue is that either the boy or the girl is not from the same class but here Zain’s mother has an issue with Mahgul’s personality and not her status. While we have modern women like Mahgul, her mother and Sanam, we also get to see Zain’s mother’s character who has shocking double standards. She is modern and strong headed yet she insists that such a woman can never make a good wife. The production values of the play are impressive and so is the picture quality. The director has kept the pace of the drama steady till now and has kept all the scenes short and to-the-point.

I am sorry to say that it disappointed a bit because this episode promised to reveal the person who is going to be murdered and I totally understand that, because of the length of the episode they just divided it so that it could occupy the required space in the digest but all this wait ended on the same note, matlab after reading the episode and all the happenings, the question…who is about to get murdered remains the same? That’s not fair… Apart from the slow pace, I don’t have any objection because it is still very interesting and gripping and the episode on the whole was quite nice.
I have to start with Aabdaar bibi so Zumar was right, she just changed the technique of approaching Faris, there is nothing more to be said about this character because all the good hopes went in vain after this episode. Aabdaar’s baddua will come back to her and my guess for the ‘Person to get murdered’ will be Aabdaar or Javahirat! Yeah Javahirat could be the one if Hashim could go to this extend with Zumar he could definitely kill Javahirat after knowing the truth of his father’s brutal death.
Naushervan Kardaar… I don’t know I feel, I have a soft corner for him after his attempts to be a good person and his convo with Zumar highlighted the fact that Naushervan is far better and considerate than Hashim. I just hope he confesses and Yusuf’s forgive him. Don’t kill me guys for this because I know you love Saadi but maybe he needs a chance. :)
So, Aabzeedan was actually for Naushervan, I mean seriously…this was that deep! Hashim is cunningly genius…Ahh I just love the smartness of the characters in this novel, he explained the whole business scenario and quite well made clear to Naushervan that he could read the personality as well…Wah Hashim!
Out of frustration, I want Hashim and Aabi to get married and ruin each-other’s life….Sachi, they both deserve each-other. Hashim’s hospitality towards Aabi and her fabricated lies and edited pics with the caption sent to Faris was all pointing at one thing that they both have in common.. “Disgustingly Selfish”. Zumar & Faris shared a very candid couple time which is as we all know full of humorous tantrums and I loved the way Zumar investigated about Faris consuming drugs…Haha
Saadi and his helpful nature did put him in trouble but at the end it all serves him in a good way so that boy told everything about the CCTV footage they had in the airport but it all went in vain because of Makaar Hashim he brutally used the character assassination technique to ruin this important witness.
I am actually feeling sad for Faris, although I think I should be frustrated at him, for all the wrong choices he made because of Aabdaar but I am feeling sorry for him and Yes maanna parega Aabi your manipulative skills are beyond my expectations par Kardaars se dosti ka asar tou hoga na! …I will give 10/10 for her manipulative skills but Thank God Faris escaped!
Faris Taheer Ghazi once again proved that he is still a genius, Hashim is not afraid of Faris but he wanted to hurt him so bad that he played this game and used Shehreen for this but Mr. Sherlock Holmes got suspicious and finally escaped. The writer tranquilized us by highlighting the death of Natasha so we all thought the person who was about to die was from the past but Nope! By the end of the epsiode all namlians again got anxious.Good work Nemrah!
Very little coverage for Haneen even Javahirat had more content in this episode than her. Hoping the next episode will surprise us by bringing Haneen’s hero in the light…let’s hope for the best, wesay she is stable now she doesn’t need a hero to be strong but I want to see her complete and that completion comes from a true companionship if the writer had planned something like this..!
For Ahmer Shafi, the tables have turned down and he is in big trouble but Mr.Helper Saadi manages to get in his flat and uses her best weapon i.e her manipulative speech to convince the kidnapers to arrange a meeting with their boss…lady boss… right? Who is she? Javahirat can’t be the one because now she is not that powerful at all… Guess please.
And the Mystery prevails…..! Who was that lady in the white dupatta, Javahirat has so many enemies and I am sure she will be the last witness after which Kardaars will eventually be eliminated from Yusuf’s life or most probably from this world too!

I just don’t want to even write about it but I have to, how come a person could be this much cruel …..Hashim Kardaar. PLEASE DIE! …He was turning that lift into Aabzeedan so that red fish was Zumar….fingers crossed, Let’s just hope Faris rescues her as soon as possible!
All in all I liked this episode, and all the tracks were handled tactfully apart from the pace of the episode but I am hopeful for the next two episodes.
Dobara Phir Se (DPS) is an upcoming film directed by Mehreen Jabbar releasing on 25th November 2016.
The promotion for the film has already been started where the title track is released last week. Today the second track of the film is out which is a colorful shaadi song
Versatility sets an actor apart from rest of the crowd. Versatile actors get extra recognition and are considered more serious actors. This art however is not an easy one to learn because becoming a character actor is a personal choice and it showcases the dedication a certain actor has towards their profession. An actor has to be natural and talented at the same time, in order to do justice to different kinds of roles they choose to assign to themselves. There are quite a few actors in our industry who have played variety of characters in their vast career and they have nailed each one of these characters. Every new character these versatile actors play leaves its mark because of the overall impact the character has on the viewers, which by the end of the day is a result of their versatility and confidence. Versatility requires a new get-up, a completely different body language and of course a powerful performance to show that the actor understands his or her character really well. Unless an actor is able to understand the character he is playing, he cannot possibly bring his on-screen character to life.
Here is the list of some of the most versatile actors in our industry who are constantly making their presence felt in variety of roles and have proven their mettle in the field of acting time and again. The list however is in no particular order.
Saba Qamar
Saba Qamar’s acting skills have always been top-notch. She is a very confident actor who at all times knows what is expected from her which is why her performances always leave the viewers in awe of the perfect manner in which she translates each one of the roles assigned to her on screen no matter how different they are from one another. Saman’s character in Maat, Sadaf from drama serial Thakan, Ayesha of Uraan, Farida of Digest Writer, Dania from the play Bunty I Love You, Sitara From Mein Sitara and Mishi from Besharam are just a few characters which were very different from each other but all of them were translated beautifully on screen by Saba Qamar.
Bushra Ansari
Bushra Ansari is an institute within herself when it comes to talent & acting. It is like a done deal that if Bushra Ansari is playing a certain role, it will end up being one such character that will leave an impact, irrespective of the nature of the character. From caricature-ish Saima Chauhdry of Baraat Series to everyone’s beloved loud & boisterous Bilqeees of Bilquees Kaur, from very controlling mother in Mera Naseeb & Jhoot to a very strong & iron-willed Sheedan in Udaari, you name it & Bushra Ansari has done that role to perfection. I believe there won’t be enough words to actually praise the work that she has done throughout her acting career but her inclusion in the list is absolutely necessary. It is actually quite commendable that even though our drama writers come up with more or less similar characters, Bushra Ansari makes sure that she doesn’t appear back to back in the roles that might be similar, that is why after a long time we got to see her play a very dominating mother in Jhoot recently, which is similar to the character that she played years ago in Mera Naseeb.
Nauman Ijaz
When we speak about versatile actors of our drama industry, the name that immediately comes to your mind is that of Nauman Ijaz. He has been associated with the showbiz for so many years & has done numerous dramas but till date, Nauman Ijaz happens to be one such actor who always surprises his fans with very a unique performance every single time. From a ruthless feudal in Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi to a very obedient husband Farmaan in Bari Aapa, from very admirable Bhatti Sahab of Jackson Heights to heartless Gulistan Khan in Sang e Marmar, Nauman Ijaz has proved that he loves & takes pride in being versatile, that is why he happens to be one of those very few mature actors who completely transform their appearance to fit the roles that they are portraying, that is why each & every performance of his leaves an impact.
Sammiya Mumtaz
Sammiya Mumtaz was stuck playing the same old roles ever since Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan went on air. She was always seen as the majbur aurat in dramas but even when she was playing the majbur aurat her acting was always flawless. When Sammiya Mumtaz played the role of Rasheeda in drama serial Sadqay Tumhare, she made the viewers forget every other character she had played till date and she also proved that she was just as capable of playing a very complicated and somewhat negative role as any other actress. Sadqay Tumhare was a turning point for Sammiya Mumtaz after which her role in Udaari was greatly appreciated as well and now her latest drama Faltoo Larki shows her in a completely different avatar.
Sania Saeed
Sania Saeed is another character actor of Pakistani drama industry who has given one brilliant performance after another. Sania Saeed actually knows the art of conveying the feelings of her character to the viewers, which actually speaks about her experience as an actor & her love for & dedication to her profession. In her entire career, we have been blown away by Sania Saeed’s phenomenal performances one after another. Sania might definitely do a selective work but she actually attempts roles that are completely different to one another. Sania Saeed happens to be one such actress who actually gives every character a 100%, be it in terms of change in appearance, body language, dialogue delivery or voice modulation, which is why she actually takes her sweet time in appearing on screen. Even though Sania Saeed have given us a lot of brilliant performances, a few characters that she actually made unforgettable are Bari Sarkar in Aseerzadi, Mehrunnisa in Zard Mausam, Akhtari in Mor Mahal & as currently seen warming the hearts of the viewers in Sang e Marmar as Gulistan Khan’s wife.
Syed Jibran
Syed Jibran has done it all from negative roles to those which make you feel for him and also comic roles in which he is not afraid to experiment with his looks and his acting is first-rate in all the plays he has ever acted in. Syed Jibran’s role in Mere Khawab Reza Reza made the viewers feel for his character and his role in drama serial Chup Raho made the audience hate his character too. He made his presence felt in drama serial Shuk and portrayed different shades of Mohsin’s character flawlessly. Right now he is playing two completely different roles in drama serials Noor-e-Zindagi and Khuda Mera Bhi Hai, both of which are not run-of-the-mill and have tons of room for performance. Syed Jibran is one of those actors who can make any role work by bringing out the best in all the characters he plays.
Samina Peerzada
Samina Peerzada’s mention refreshes the memory of all those beautiful, unique & different characters that she has played in her career. Samina Peerzada is a veteran actor & that is why, her portrayal showcases the experience she has garnered over the years, due to which, she picks up the tone of her characters rightly & gives them a very accurate treatment. Samina Peerzada has shown her versatility by playing some very beautiful & some negative characters too. Where we all remember Samina Peerzada in beautiful roles like that of a submissive wife in Durr-e-Shehwar, a loving & caring Naani in Shehr-e-Zaat, a very optimistic & intuitive mother in Zindagi Gulzar Hai & Daastan & also a supportive mother in law in Rehaai, she also surprised the viewers with her impactful performances in negative light in the dramas like Noorpur Ki Raani, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan & App Ke Liye.
Hina Bayat
Hina Bayat had certain limitations in terms of characters she could play when she joined the industry but Hina Bayat chose not to get typecast & always did a very selective & amazing work. Hina Bayat is mostly seen as a mother in our dramas but the variety she brings in all these roles by making them completely different to each other proves her versatility. If Hina Bayat can convey the positive characters flawlessly on screen, she can also portray the negative characters convincingly too. If we look at the characters that she has played till date, it goes to show how different & unique her choices have been. Hina has provided the viewers with a variety by portraying completely different roles in the dramas like Mata-e-Jaan, Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Aunn Zara, Aik Nayi Cinderella, Muqaddas & Tere Mere Beech. Her recent portrayals as Shabnam Qureshi in Sanam & Nida’s mother in Dil Banjara have taken the viewers by surprise because she has nailed those characters with her brilliant acting.
Faisal Qureshi
Faisal Qureshi’s acting is effortless. He takes what he does very seriously, something which is quite apparent from the overall impact all of his characters have on the viewers. He has played roles which were nuanced, those which lied on the extremes and also those which made the viewers laugh. Faysal Qureshi’s roles in hit drama serials like Qaid-e-Tanhai, Mera Naam Abdul Qadir Hai, Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan, Roag, Rang Laga and Bashar Momin all were dynamic and Faisal Qureshi did complete justice to them. Even when Faisal Qureshi does not play meaty roles in dramas, he makes sure that his acting never falters.
Sarwat Gillani
Sarwat Gillani is another one of those actresses who put their best foot forward every single time. Her looks and the way she acts is different in every drama and she is one of those actresses who try to take projects which offer variety of roles and these roles most often have a lot of room for performance. Sarwat Gillani played the role of Mahi in Malaal, Hania in Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, Zoya in Dil-e-Muztar among others and each of these roles had a very different appearance and story. Very soon Sarwat Gillani will once again be seen in a unique role in drama serial Seeta Bagri which goes to prove that she is constantly trying new things and excelling every time.
Saba Hameed
This name brings a whole lot of history with it because Saba Hameed is one such actress who has attempted all sorts of roles in her long career. We all remember Saba Hameed from Family Front, where she played a role of a naive housewife to perfection, setting an example in the genre of comedy with her amazing acting. Saba Hameed also impressed the viewers with her performances as stern mother in law in most of the dramas & just recently her performance as Zulekha in Dil Lagi testified her experience as an actor. Saba Hameed has done variety of roles where in few dramas she made us dislike her character the most, she also also made us feel for her in the dramas where she played the roles of caring mother. There was a time when Saba Hameed was being typecast but it is good to see her breaking the monotony & trying different roles now.
Mahira Khan
Mahira Khan only has a handful of dramas to her credit but every time she chose to do a project she refused to be typecast. After playing a rather simple role of Khirad in drama serial Hamsafar which was a massive hit, she refused to be stereotyped and was seen in a much more complicated role which went through various transitions in drama serial Shehr-e-Zaat. In Sadqay Tumhare she played another role which was different from both Falak and Khirad, Shano was more rebellious and her story and background was poles apart from both the prominent characters Mahira Khan had played in her previous plays. Right now in Bin Roye Mahira’s character plays the role of an immature girl who is hopelessly in love. Just like all the other versatile actors in this list Mahira Khan too has owned every character she has played till date.
Saleem Mairaj
Saleem Mairaj has been acting in theater and television both for a long time but it was only when he starred in the soap Kash Mein Teri Beti Na Hoti that his potential was exploited to the maximum. He played the role of a head of an affluent family who was very controlling and bossy. Even with a demeanor that didn’t exactly suit the role, his performance was convincing and flawless. He played the role of a malang who was one of a kind in Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahin equally convincingly and most recently for a long time his acting was the reason viewers hated and loved Jamil’s character in drama serial Mann Mayal. Right now he is playing yet another role which is different from all the other roles he has played so far in Noor-e-Zindagi. Saleem Mairaj, just like all the other versatile actors in this list always managed to sport a completely different look for all his characters and delivered every time.
Imran Ashraf
Imran Ashraf has joined the drama industry recently but it is because of his flawless acting that he has made a name for himself & is now seen as a part of popular dramas. Imran Ashraf has been versatile in his choice of characters too because from comedy to negative roles, he has almost covered all the genres in such a short span of time. Imran Ashraf happens to be one such actor who makes acting come naturally to him, that is why he performs effortlessly. His character as Dastageer in Dil Lagi earned him a lot of attention because he acted his character brilliantly by adding a touch of humor to it & seriousness as well when required. On the basis of his performances till date, Imran Ashraf can be easily labelled as an all-rounder.
Malik Raza
Malik Raza has been in the industry from quite time now but he never got to showcase his talent as he was hardly seen on the mainstream entertainment channels & in popular dramas. Irrespective of the popularity of the drama, Malik Raza has proved that he is a character actor & he is going to give a 100% in all the roles that are assigned to him. It is good to see him taking such challenging roles which allow him to showcase his talent like that of Bakshi Jee in Jugnoo & Wahab Sunyara in Besharam, both these characters are so different to each other but Malik Raza proved his versatility by completely transforming his get up to adapt to the role he was assigned to portray, which is not only difficult but commendable too.
Saba Faisal
Saba Faisal joined the industry at a mature age where she could portray limited roles like that of a mother or a mother in law, but in such a short span of time, she has proved her versatility by taking up different kind of characters & giving them a persoanlity with her flawless acting. Saba Faisal has shown that no matter what the nature of the character is going to be, she can take it a notch higher with her portrayal of it. The character that Saba Faisal played in drama serial Durr-e-Shehwar left quite an impact, where she only relied on her acting & kept her overall look simple. Saba was also seen in Sangat, as a professor & a single mother & the look that she gave to her character in Sangat testified that she not only gives her best shot in terms of acting, but also in terms of personality & the nature of the character that she is portraying.

Ohkay so, this episode of Silah took things forward but not in a very convincing way. I say this because the situations & the scenarios are so typical & have been seen so many times in the past that you actually don’t feel like giving your utmost attention to this drama at this stage. I still am hopeful that things will change & will get interesting in the future episodes but the note at which the drama has begun isn’t interesting enough!
I was kind of taken aback that Maryam just needed a guy to get punched for her to completely forget her agenda of not getting committed for next 5 years. If they had developed this entire scenario slowly, it would’ve looked convincing but literally in just 2 episodes seeing Maryam go from I-can-not-get-committed to YASSS-I-am-ready didn’t actually make much sense. Taimoor has been after Maryam from quite some while now but Maryam didn’t lose focus because she was a bit too concerned & rightly so about all her responsibilities, so to see her getting convinced over a tiff Taimoor had for her with some guys in the college was quite unlike her. I think in this regard, Maryam turned out to be different from Kashaf because it took years & years for Kashaf to actually give a chance to Zaroon but Maryam ended up filling the empty space in a jiffy. If I say it in my style, I found it a bit funny that Taimoor’s love was just a mukkay ki maar for Maryam to get completely convinced that yes, she has a space in her life for a clingy guy like him.
I do understand that Taimoor is a very decent guy, comes from a very decent family, has a sound background, in other words, he is an eligible bachelor but I wish there was more to him or to his personality because till date, we only know that he is becoming a doctor by fluke, is a true musician at heart & he loves Maryam awain hi & that’s about it. I will say that I was surprised at how in such an initial stage of the drama their conversations sounded repetitive with ‘mujhe tumhara jawab chahiye’ being Taimoor’s pet phrase. I wish the writer had added some depth & personality in Taimoor’s character because in his comparison, Maryam’s character does seem to have been written with some detailing at least.
So, it took a punch, a car ride & 2 face to face conversations for Maryam to open a window for Taimoor in her life & Taimoor is obviously so clingy that he just doesn’t listen to what his lady love has to say. Taimoor might be a simple guy with no complications in his life, but it would have been good if the writer had shown him to be considerate of Maryam’s background & her dreams too. Right now it seems that Taimoor is infatuated with Maryam, but he doesn’t love her enough to actually understand her struggles & be supportive of what she wants to achieve in her life, especially for her family because the way he imposes his decisions on her goes to show that he will have a hard time relating to Maryam’s problems & understanding her situation!
I know the writer has tried to keep things quite simple but they were a little too simple to an extent that not only things were typical & predictable, but seemed to lack detailing as well, which is actually needed in stories like these which start off at such a note. Well, surprise surprise, Taimoor’s mother Nargis wants her only son to get engaged to her niece, that is why she speaks to her husband Ehsan. Ehsan ends up approving it because everything else is secondary for him & the only thing he is concerned about is Taimoor’s MBBS & then specialization which he will go to USA for. That was the beginning of objection that Taimoor will have to face from his parents & once again, there wasn’t anything new about it.
Aleem & his wife Razia tell Maryam to not show up in front of the guests who’d be visiting their house for Farkhanda’s proposal but it was obvious that they weren’t too impressed by Farkhanda’s personality. Maryam puts that time to good use & decides to say yes to Taimoor & that way, they officially become a couple. Maryam returns home just when the guests are still seated & the episode ends dramatically, as if we’d be eager to know about the unexpected & never-seen-before twist that the next episode will offer!
I will say that the 2nd episode wasn’t too impressive actually. I think the character of Taimoor needed a little more development & I think it would’ve been better if Farhaan Saeed had actually paid attention to look a little like a medical student. I know there’s no need to fit the stereotypes but at least a little effort which had made him look more like a medical student & less like a full-time musician. In this case Ainny Jaffrey definitely scores some points because her minimalistic & simple clothing choices do highlight the fact that she belongs to a middle class family & has a humble background. Also the way she carries her shawl sheds a light on that fact too, which again makes me feel that Ainny Jaffrey definitely put in some more effort in comparison to Farhaan Saeed because I guess he was too busy buying the hair gels that he didn’t pay much attention to anything else. The preview of the next episode suggested that things are still not going to change & will stay typical, but let’s see. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Silah.
This was an interesting episode with quite a few developments to its credit which were convincing and surprising at the same time. The way Nida’s father fought for his daughter was the most endearing part of tonight’s episode. This was a major development which was covered intelligently. Nida’s father was always shown as a person who put his daughter’s happiness before anything else and this was one of those times when he decided he needed to go the extra mile to make his daughter’s dream come true. Nida has been shown as a girl who has broken many barriers to come this far and this happened mainly because of her father’s support. It is however surprising to watch such a father settling for a spoiled phupo ka beta as Nida’s husband but it is highly likely that he might go against this particular decision of the family at some point too.
Sikandar’s ‘change of heart’ was an unexpected development which was covered in a convincing manner. Sikandar accepted the proposal but there was no excitement later on when the news was shared by Shama’s mother on the breakfast table and later on he didn’t have much to add when Shama talked about the wedding. The preview of the next episode also suggested that this was another one of the callous decisions made by Sikandar which he might not be able to stick to for a long time. If that happens, it will be more in line with his character than watching him being responsible all of a sudden. Adnan Malik’s performance in this episode was much better than his acting in the previous two episodes mainly because of the fact that he did not have to emote a lot. There were a few scenes in which he went a little overboard but overall he gave a steady performance.
Nida’s mother fascination with Nishat apa’s purse, her suggestion that they should have another child and her overall personality makes her character unique and extremely likeable. I don’t remember the last time we saw such a character being shown in this light. Although most often people in the house are seen telling her off for her attitude but her relationship with her daughter and even some scenes with her husband go to show that people like her who are not like other people her age can be shown living in normal circumstances as a mother and as a wife. Hina Bayat has won me over yet again because of her impressive performance especially because it isn’t easy translating such a character on screen. She understands her character and has managed to do complete justice to it effortlessly. The way the family covered up for Nida although taya and tayee were dead against sending her to another country added a balance to the whole scenario. Everything that happened in Nida’s house today was also much more interesting than the happenings in the previous episode in particular. Tayee’s dialogue about farangi clothes was hilarious! It also showed the difference in the thinking, while Nida’s mother suggested she should wear skirts, tayee wanted to make sure it did not happen! There were many scenes in tonight’s episode which were emotional and others which made me laugh.
Apart from the unnecessary closeness between Adnan Malik and Mira Sethi which made their scenes slightly inappropriate when they could have been really cute, this episode was directed well and did not have any glaring flaws. Shama’s character does not have a lot to offer but so far Mira Sethi has been performing quite well. Sanam Saeed, Hina Bayat, Samina Ahmed and Mohsin Gillani were the stars of the show tonight. Mohsin Gillani’s brilliant performance and his on screen chemistry with Sanam Saeed has made this father daughter relationship even more special. Sanam Saeed was faultless as Nida today and tonight’s developments gave the audience more of an insight into her character.
Sikandar and Nida will cross paths once again in the upcoming episode, waiting to see how this track is covered in the next episode. This episode definitely gave me reason to look forward to more. How many of you watched this latest installment? Please share your thoughts about it.

The drama will also be starring Faisal Qureshi, Hasan Ahmed, Saboor Ali, Anum Tanveer, Fahad Sheikh, Ghazala Butt, Noshaba Javed, Ismat Iqbal and others.

As the drama Deewana ended it reminded me of these lines from Shakespeare’s magnum opus “Romeo and Juliet”. Now to a number of people this drama may appear childish and immature to run on television, but again a drama is created to take our minds to another world where one can find characters evolving, growing up in the eyes of the audience. Deewana was a fairytale since the beginning, a fairytale which dared to be different from the rest of the dramas that are currently on air. Why I choose to write about it was because it evoked my inner love for theater, art and drama which I had unfortunately compromised with given storylines we have today on screen. Deewana dared to be different, unique in its own way. It’s a cliché love story, but the execution of such idea especially in the Pakistani/Muslim culture is absolutely worth appraisal.
To give a brief overview Deewana was a story of a supernatural entity falling in love with a mere human. The story revolves around both of them, how they become friends and how they fall in love despite odds. Deewana is inspired by an Irish novel “Ifyou could see me now” by Cecelia Ahern. The story of Deewana is just a touch of inspiration from the novel. Few of the episodes of the drama were reviewed by Miss Zahra Mirza, who is of course the best when it comes to reviewing dramas.
Though this concept sounds very different, it is the execution that matters. The best thing about this play was that how the writers managed to play around with the concept of Jinn and not going too overboard. They managed to create a fairytale, the concept of jinn is not alien in our society at least; after all whatever bad happens we blame jinn doing it. This story gives you a view point of jinn and his people and what they think about humans. Though it was all fiction, the writer did manage to play everything safe and not going too overboard with this concept.
Now audience who adhered to screen just for the sake of Deewana like me, were expecting a nice ending but here the writers reminded us that no Romeo ever united with Juliet which was also unique for such a story. Though Falak (Jinn) left everything for Mehru, yet they couldn’t unite, maybe because they were never made out of the same element i.e. earth and fire. Even when Falak sacrificed his own being and transformed himself just for Mehru, fate had something else restored for him. For me, the ending of this drama was perfect according to the theme. But as I mentioned this playground was new for the writers, plot holes did exist in Deewana, for better or worse these could be ignored as the drama has already concluded.
For a drama to excel, story, acting and direction play a very important role. I must say Shehroz Sabzwari stole the show in Deewana, he was very convincing as a jinn trying to fit in. Every actor did a commendable job in this drama even Mehru’s father who uttered just a few sentences in the whole 42 episodes. What the drama did lack however, was a good makeup artist, as I said it was a new field to play with the fantasy characters, where we had evil entities and spiritual, I just wished that the makeup artists would have brought their creative side to the audience by using their imagination in terms of makeup. The animation could’ve been better yet I am hopeful. The story was slow paced that I understand, maybe, was for the sake of TRPs extended it up to 42 episodes which was torturous by the way.
Being a fan of soaps and seasons of Hollywood I always wished we could play with our imaginations a bit more, Deewana actually made my wish a reality. It’s one of the first steps (also important to mention Sanam Saeed’s drama adapted from “The God of small things” by Arundhati Roy) and very good one. This drama was different from the rest of the lot because it took us away into the fairytale land which we all dreamt about in our childhood; it dared to bring a theatrical presence to it. Even at times it was not successful yet it tried. At least someone is bringing about a change in dramas from the same old monotonous topics of divorce, infidelity, two sisters crushing over the same guy, guy marrying twice for the sake of child, a very small misunderstanding stretched over for 20-22 weeks! Anyhow I applaud the team of Deewana for daring to be different and standing out; not playing in the safety comfort zone. This maybe an under-rated drama but it did had an element of Shakespearean tragedy to it.
P.S: I am a huge fan of classic literature, so if I make comparisons that offend you I primitively apologize.
This was another exciting episode which had my heart racing. Bilal’s return and discovery of the events that transpired was shocking and painful but he’s smart enough to know there’s a conspiracy against him. I hated seeing Habibullah insult Bilal and accusing him of cheating. Haroon Bhai was even worse as he literally spat on Billu! But I sort of understood his behaviour as he’s completely submissive to Peer Habibullah and he has accepted this marriage as one whereby he’s nothing more than a glorified gatekeeper.
Mein tumko gunhagaar nahin, apney liye sawaab kamaa raha houn… Habibullah wasted no time making his move on Kulsoom- the ease with which he transitioned from caressing to kissing her hand showed he has complete confidence that she will learn to reciprocate his feelings. Nimmo witnessed the close proximity and concluded that Habibullah masterminded the events. Kulsoom refused to believe a word since she’s still under the assumption that Peer Sahab is their sincere well- wisher. I liked how Nimmo backed her thinking by laying the facts bare- Unki biwi kya kyun daal chawal pakaney wali Aurat hai??? Bibi has the upper hand in the marriage by virtue of her birth- her father was the Peer before the position was passed down to Habibullah and she calls the shots. In recent times, however, Habibullah has managed to resume control yet allowing Bibi to think otherwise.
Meri beti Ki zindagi zaya hui toh kya, Bibi Sahiba toh maa ban jayein gi… it didn’t surprise me in the least to hear Tahira think about Bibi Sahiba at a time when her daughter’s life was shattered. Tahira’s anger at Haroon has replaced her anger at Bilal. She’s spewing venom and threatening him as if he’s the one to blame. It’s ironic how none of them has dared to question the decisions that they so easily obeyed without reason. I suppose it’s easier to pass the blame onto someone weaker who’s accustomed to being a punching bag. Haroon pointed out to Kulsoom how she’s gathering sympathies and playing the victim card whereas he finds himself isolated and at an utter loss himself.
Meher Nigar tried to console Bilal but she was fearful with reminders of Wali. She understood only too well that there’s more to this than meets the eye but she doesn’t want her son to get entangled any further. I would love to see how Bilal exposes Wali and eventually Habibullah. Wali isn’t exactly a loyalist and he is turning out to be quite a nuisance as Habibullah is quickly beginning to realize. Greed isn’t something that can be contained and Wali is trying to cash in as much as possible before everything blows up in his face.
Kulsoom wants to meet Bilal and I’m looking forward to their scenes together as both of them have been through hell and back in their own separate ways. I hope Kulsoom realizes the awkwardness of Habibullah trying to get too close for comfort before it’s too late… I never imagined this drama would become so highly addictive but the acting and narrative has been exceptionally gripping. Every scene serves a purpose and moves the story forward- I have to commend the editor and director for their flawless execution for making this a very interesting watch. Next week’s preview shows things heating up for Habibullah- how will he maintain his stature? What do you think?
Ohkay so, another week & another great episode of Sang e Marmar. Isn’t is amazing that even before you tune to a drama, you know it already that the episode will be a treat a watch. Sang e Marmar is definitely not a light-hearted entertainment, in fact it has quite a dense theme based on reality which forces you to think & feel bad for the sufferings of your favorite characters every step of the way, but what its execution shows is that if a screenplay like this gets an appropriate treatment, it can definitely keep your interest alive in the show, to an extent that you actually look forward to it. The creative team of Sang e Marmar has definitely sent a very strong message to all the other drama makers, that you don’t need saas bahu sagas or bechari/bechara filled dramas or even weirdly shaped love triangles for people to tune to your work, you can definitely make the viewers fall in love with an issue & reality based drama if you yourself stay true to your job!
In this episode, we were given a glimpse of the past which actually showed the turn of events which shaped everything & brought everyone at this stage of their lives. That powerful scene showed how many sacrifices Gulistan Khan’s wife made for him & how many times he humiliated her by even depriving her of her right to visit her ailing parents. The reason why Gulistan Khan’s wife seems so indifferent & aloof to everything that her husband does was explained through one incident because it showed that all her life, she has always been at the giving end that she actually lost her will to live her life her way. This fact has been established again & again that Gulistan Khan is a very good father but sadly, we got to know that he wasn’t that ideal of a husband because he endorsed such a mentality which taught him to mistreat his spouse only so that he gets to showcase his power & authority to her.
That one incident also showed the reason why Gulistan Khan distanced himself from Aurang also because that day, he realized that out of all his children, he will be the one who will question Gulistan’s dictatorship. Gulistan Khan has made a name for himself by committing wrong deeds but the way he distanced himself from a very young child goes to show that he is someone who does not like getting hurt emotionally. Gulistan Khan knew that he will never be able to control Aurang & he will never be able to turn Aurang into his stooge, so in order to protect himself, to keep himself from getting emotionally hurt & from harboring expectations from him, Gulistan Khan decided to let Aurang be, that is the reason why Aurang turned out to be so different from his brothers because his father didn’t have any say in his upbringing. I loved the fact that Aurang has always been the kind of a person who stood up for the weak & fought for the rights of those whom he loved the most!
I loved how strategically the director took us into the past because the decision that Gulistan Khan made today reflected the hurt he felt because of Aurang that day. I am sure Gulistan was already trying to figure things out & his conversation with Saif ur Rehman convinced him that in order to get back at him & hurt him equally, he should get his sister married to Safiullah, but later when he confided in him, one of the reasons that Gulistan put forth was the fact that he knew Aurang a little too well. Gulistan knew that Aurang will never be able to mistreat Shireen despite his father’s orders. Gulistan knew that Aurang will always take a stand for Shireen if she will become his wife. Gulistan knew that if Shireen will get married to Aurang, he will lose a chance of hurting Saif ur Rehman as much as he hurt him by killing Gohar, that is why he chose Safiullah, because after Gohar, he is the one who will do anything & everything that his father will tell him to do.
May be Gulistan never wanted to turn things against Shireen, but the conversation that he had with Saif ur Rehman & also, the way he inquired about Gohar’s last moment compelled him to make such a decision that will haunt Saif ur Rehman till the day he’ll die. Sherbano also played a part in influencing her father because she wanted to score a win against Torah, so everything brought Gulistan to this point where he decided that Shireen will face the brunt of everything that was messed up in his own family & life.
My heart sank every single time I saw Shireen dreaming about her marital bliss with Aurang. Amidst the chaos, there Shireen was in her bubble, concerned only about her life with Aurang having no idea how the world around her was filled with vultures who were ready to tear her apart & sadly, it included her brother too. Saif ur Rehman is a coward because he had no ounce of sympathy for his sister & no ounce of courage to back his decision up & tell everyone that he had a reason due to which he killed Gohar. At that time, Saif ur Rehman was ready to kill & to be killed but it showed how he used his wife to convince him for something that even he wanted for himself, which was a hassle-free, peaceful ‘life’. Saif ur Rehman didn’t have the guts to die & just when he saw that he wife was ready to go to any extent to save him, he let her handle everything like a coward because things were becoming favorable for him.
I loved how this episode had some light-hearted moments because things won’t be the same anymore. The conversation Shireen & Durkhane had were actually so sweet but they had this very depressing undertone for the viewers because we as viewers could feel that things will not be the same for Shireen & Durkhane & while they were oblivious of the reality, they both looked so innocent & adorable while discussing Shireen’s marriage with Aurang without a worry in the world. Honestly speaking, I can’t wait to see the day when Saif ur Rehman’s wife will pay the price for everything that she has transpired against Shireen. At this moment, Saif’s wife might think that she has scored a win & her life will be peaceful with her husband & her baby, but I am sure there will come a time when she herself will have to confess about all the lies that she has told & she will have a taste of her own medicine!
Overall, this episode was brilliant too. It was actually quite nice to see an emotional side of Safiullah. Even though Gulistan doesn’t allow him to be weak emotionally, Safiullah falls weak in front of Gullalai because he loves her a lot. Sadly Safiullah knows that after Gohar, his father has a lot of expectations from him & he has to fulfill them, but even he is a victim in this entire situation. I can’t wait to see the next episode, especially Gullalai’s bits where she herself will go to receive her husband’s second wife – husband she loves the most. I hope Shireen leaves Saif ur Rehman’s house in such a way that it haunts him & his wife for the rest of their lives. I can’t wait to see how things will turn against them. This episode was as always filled with some brilliant performances. I must say, the credit goes to the director for helping all the actors pick the tone of their character so flawlessly. I am sure it is because of Saife Hassan that all the actors succeeded in delivering such phenomenal performances. Looking forward to the next episode already. Wow!!! What an ending! It was poignant, spell-binding and picture-perfect just like the drama as a whole. This episode delivered from the start till the end and unlike many other endings I have seen recently every single scene was on point and all the developments very convincing. The last scene of this episode was a winner; Farhad and Sitara together in one frame…amazing!! After everything that Sitara had gone through and the bitterness she had lived with so many years it was impossible to imagine an ending as happy as this one but Faiza Iftikhar made it happen and Seema Taher Khan made it work with the soulful background score and the amazing camera angles which made this last episode a treat to watch. Watching Sitara forgive Naseem Dil Ruba and the conversation the two had clearly suggested that Sitara had finally moved on. There was a time when Sitara was not willing to forgive, all she wanted was revenge from everyone who had ever hurt her but in the end Sitara learned to forgive which was amazing! It went to show that now she was completely free. Falak decided to write her mother’s story, this was another interesting part of this ending. One person who Sitara chose not to forgive was Illyas Khawaja, which was also apt since this man did not deserve to forgiven.
Mein Sitara was remarkably impressive throughout. The way the story was carried forward and the manner in which the characters changed with time was the best part of this entire serial. This drama went to show that it takes hard work, an eye for detail and most importantly dedicated team work to make a drama truly unforgettable. Faiza Iftikhar’s script was very well-thought-out and Seema Taher Khan brought different eras covered in the drama impeccably on screen. The person incharge of styling also deserves a special mention here. Some of the actors in particular made their mark in such a way that they will be remembered by many of us who watched the show through the characters they played in Mein Sitara. Aisha Gul, Meera, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Saba Qamar in particular did exceptionally well and made their presence felt the whole time.
A drama which makes you look forward to every single episode for more than 30 weeks in my opinion can easily be termed as a classic. The director and the producer deserve tons of credit for choosing the best actors for the job and extracting memorable performances from them. The writer deserves due credit for making Sitara’s journey so captivating that those of us who followed this show lived every moment with Sitara right from the time when she was a child. There are very few dramas in which every character makes their presence felt and Mein Sitara was definitely one such drama which overflowed with supporting characters which made their mark. Mein Sitara stayed true to its plot right till the end. This was the story of different eras of the film industry shown with the help of Sitara’s struggles in particular. It was also the story of a fighter; a strong woman who was not perfect but she remained strong right till the end. The last conversation between Naseem Dil Ruba and Sitara focused on just that and Falak’s success proved that strong people ultimately get what they deserve. A big thanks to the team of Mein Sitara for giving us a complete package which kept the audience glued to their television screens for weeks.

So I would be lying if I said I did not find this episode to be a bit more interesting especially as the preview for next week has left me guessing what will happen next which is why I tuned into this show in the first place, since it had a few unpredictable twists and turns in the beginning. While it still largely remains a story of two wives, with Mehwish continuously being painted as the evil one, quite a few developments did take place in this episode.
In the previous episode when Zara shared with Amber the news of her broken engagement with Faisal, quite a few of us shook our heads over how Amber seemed to see only Mehwish as the ‘bad guy’ in the whole scenario. However, Zara’s growing closeness and friendship with Faisal in the light of this new bit of information shows Amber feeling uneasy and she seems to have jumped on the bandwagon too with Mehwish and is wary of Zara. Her sudden interest in pairing Zara with Faizan is questioned later by Mehwish and Faisal but I also wondered if she had similar reasons as Mehwish where she wants Zara out of the house so she may not grow closer to Faisal or whether she genuinely wants the best for Zara.
Faizan’s daughter Fatima loves Zara Aunty to bits and although momentarily thrown off by Mehwish’s attitude, she is in love with Zara Aunty again and can not get enough of her. I get a child, motherless one at that, getting attached to a young woman who showers her with attention and love but I do not understand how easily Faizan and Bhua let Fatima spend ages at Zara’s house and even the first time Faizan met her, he let Fatima stay at Zara’s house and have her feed her! Stranger danger anyone? Oh well, that’s a different topic altogether and would stray from the story but still I find it odd.
Anyway, Amber encourages Faizan to send a proposal for Zara. It was very strange that Amber did not share this thought with Faisal at least. She did not pretend as if she did not know why they were there with the mithhai so then why not give Faisal some heads up at least? Faisal and Mehwish are together on this one and feel Amber is out of line and that Faizan is not an appropriate match for Zara. Zara’s expression shows she did not expect this proposal but we are not sure what she is thinking later. When she announces she is ready to marry Faizan and when Faizan tells her that Faisal and Mehwish’s relationship has no impact on his proposal, Zara’s expressions do not lead me to believe either way whether she genuinely wants to marry Faizan or she is doing all this to spite her mother.
Never have flashbacks been used as aptly in a drama, to my recollection at least, than they were in the scene where Mehwish relives the moments when Faisal professed undying love and passion for her. Faisal has to be truly fickle for where he could remain in love with Taayi while she cared for Taaya and her children surely he could have lasted a while longer in love when she asked him to move out for a while? Dents in their relationship did start appearing when he learns she is unable to conceive and then also when she became more of a screaming, jealous shrew but still. Which brings me to Amber’s pregnancy now. When she swooned, I thought chalo, khushkhabhri, ta da! Seriously, does a woman never know or wonder if she is pregnant until she actually faints?! It is absurd how even my eyebrows raise when a woman faints and doctor kay bulaanay se pehlay I can confidently announce she is pregnant!
So, with Amber pregnant, Zara all set to marry Faizan and nobody caring about or listening to Mehwish, there is quite a bit happening in Faisal’s household. I am glad this episode moved away from the constant attacks by Mehwish on Amber and did not focus on Mehwish and Amber trying to outdo each other for Faisal’s attention either. I have a feeling Zara will marry Faizan eventually but will Mehwish give in or will she fight it all the way? And what (drastic) measures will she take? Good for Faisal that both his wives work for between a jealous, demanding wife who is suddenly expecting transport services to work and back and dinner dates, and a pregnant wife who takes up lunch time, a baby on the way and a stepdaughter whose counseling and wedding seem to be his self imposed responsibility – I do not see this guy spending much time in the office!
Maybe it was me or maybe it was seeing Maria Wasti in a different role, then again probably because her initial personality in the drama and the one that appeared later seemed so different (so many disclaimers, LOL!) but over the past few episodes I have to say she has acted really well. Faryal Mehmood’s acting for some reason always annoys me so even though she is meant to be the sweet, ‘victim of circumstances’ character here – it still does not work for me. Curious to see how the end of this drama plays out although hoping it is not dragged and ends before the 20th episode mark. What did you all think of this episode? Would love to hear your thoughts.
As the ban of Pakistani artist has caused trouble for Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan, same is the case with Ali Zafar. Ali had signed a Bollywood film Dear Zindai starring Shahrukh Khan and Aalia Bhatt but the latest buzz is that he is replaced in the film.
According to the Bollywoodlife.com the makers of the film Dear Zindagi shared that they do not want the indo-Pak controversy to become a issue for the film, therefore they have decided to replace Ali Zafar with B-town’s rising star, Tahir Raj Bhasin.
“Ali Zafar has already been replaced in the film and he has been replaced with Tahir Raj Bhasin, Rani Mukerji’s nemesis from Mardaani’, revealed a source to the Bollywood website.
As the The Pakistan’s film industry is reviving many old directors and producers have also shown interest in making new movies. Syed Noor has been serving Lollywood industry since a long time. Syed Noor’s upcoming film “Bhai Wanted”.
The film is directed by Syed Noor , produced by Syed Noor and Safdar Malik, written by Syed Noor and music of the film is by Naveed Wajid Ali nashad.
According to sources Shaan Shahid offivially confirmed that he has signed the film with Syed Noor. But the pictures from the ste of the movie reveal that Moammar Rana is part of the film. the cast of the film has not been revealed by the director officially. Th efacebook page of the movie suggest that the cast includes Nadeem, Saima, Khurram Patras and a new actor Yasir Khan. It is also expected that Zindagi Gulzar Hai actress Sana Sarfaraz is also signed as one of the heroine sof the film.Film will also be including an item song by Mathira.
Rangreza is Aamir Mohiuddin’s directorial debut. “It is a film based on music, in which we are exploring the contrast between classical qawwali and modern pop music. A love story will join the contrast.”
The film stars Akber Subhani, Saleem Mairaj, Tanveer Jamal, Shahid Naqvi. Its music has been directed by the film’s writer Akhtar Qayyum, who has been a music director and producer for 30 years. The eight song soundtrack features Qurram Hussain of Josh, Farid Ayaz and Abu Mohammad qawwals and others.

Regarding the film the Director Amir Mohiuddin said, that while working for almost three years on the script, he wanted to paint his idea’s into a detailed screenplay, and that’s how he met Rangreza’s writer, Mr. Akhtar Qayyum, who told him a story which turned out to be the same that he was looking for!
Urwa is doing the female lead role, she is plaing the role of Reshmi. Reshmi as a kind hearted, beautiful and soulful girl, her purity makes her rare, and she’s as reshmi as her name.

Ohkay so, these two episodes of App Ke Liye were quite slow & boring to say the least. While watching these episodes, in my heart I was thanking the channel for airing it twice a week otherwise it would’ve tested my patience a great deal. I am actually amazed that 20 episodes have gone by & this drama is nowhere near to an end. I really hope that the editors edit out the unnecessary scenes & shorten it so that it can end soon!
To be honest, I couldn’t keep up with Nishat’s planning & plotting anymore because it has been dragged so much that it has lost its purpose. It is so obvious that she is trying to create a rift between Omar & Areesha but to see her sorting things out & then again complicating them is getting a bit too boring & annoying. I really think that Nishat’s character has been given way more coverage than it actually deserved because there is no substance in her scenes & it is actually getting quite hard to tolerate Samina Peerzada as Nishat!
Imdad has shown his true colors by telling everything he had in his heart to Dilruba. It is so obvious that he is only putting up with a woman like Nishat because he has an ulterior motive too. Nishat actually trusts her husband way more than she should & Imdad is making the most of his wife’s oblivion. I think their track will come to an end at such a note where Nishat’s trust on Imdad will shatter & then she will realize how much it hurts when someone you trust, puts you down, something exactly that she has been doing with Shaheer all her life.
Meeting Omar was a good decision byt Washma but the reason wasn’t made clear as to why she decided to meet him because in stead of inquiring about things, it looked like everything that Omar told her was a news & she wasn’t planning on probing about it in the first place. I think the director himself has lost track of all these complicated intricacies & also the dialogue writer became confused at this point, due to which none of the conversations were making sense in both these episodes!
The only good thing that happened in these episodes was Washma’s decision of taking matters in her hands. Washma knows that at home, she has to take care of Nishat & at office, she has to take care of Imdad Hussain because both these husband & wife are backstabbing Shaheer since ages & he has no idea about it because he trusts them blindly. Washma’s move of bringing Asad in the office was wise but not sure if keeping it from Shaheer was right or not. Washma should have known better that a woman like Nishat can use it against her & it won’t take a second for Shaheer to doubt her too because till date she has not confessed her feelings to him & has not assured him that he means everything to her. I think before working on anything else, Washma should have taken Shaheer in confidence so that when she exposes his sister & brother in law in front of his, he has no reasons to ignore everything. I also believe that Shaheer is wrong in keeping his feelings to himself & not telling Washma clearly what she means to him because after such a long time, he has finally found someone who makes him happy, so there’s no need to beat around the bush because nor Washma is a child, neither Shaheer is a teenager who has fallen in love for the first time. After failing at a love marriage once, Shaheer should know how to deal with his wife especially now when he has developed feelings of love for her!
Washma gave everything away too easily & that is the reason why Imdad raised his guards & became a bit too cautious. Imdad decided to involve Nishat in this entire situation too because he knew that she is far more manipulative & cunning when it comes to turning the tables & this is exactly why the promo suggested that Shaheer will lose control & will tell Washma to leave. I don’t think it is wise of Shaheer to always believe on one side of the picture & doubt his wife all the time. It is understandable that Shaheer is emotional & trusts people easily, but why is it that he finds it hard to trust on Washma, especially now when she has proved that she is not like Abeera, which may have been one of the reasons behind his vulnerability. I find it a bit hard to digest a character like Shaheer who has been a successful businessman & who deals with so many people on daily basis can not understand & trust a transparent, honest & straight forward girl like Washma. It would’ve been so so so good to see Shaheer having a face to face conversation with Washma in person trying to find out the reason why she was doing all of this!
Anyways, these two episodes were boring but I only liked watching Washma’s track & all the happenings related to it. The precap suggested that things will turn against Washma, which means some more dragging in the drama & slow pace. I think the director forgot that bokeh effect is meant to be used in the background & not in the foreground, because of which it looks so annoying otherwise bokeh effect is one of the best effects out there. For the first time I found the relationship of Omar & Areesha so forced & not well-thought out, that is why their conversations seem so half-baked. It looks like Omar & Areesha are being forced into marriage & there is absolutely nothing about their relationship that spells ‘love’ to me. Anyways, please share your thoughts about these two episodes of App Ke Liye!
Ohkay so, things have become quite interesting at this stage of Dhaani. I am glad they decided to move things forward but I really hope they keep up with the pace & don’t drag the story further because it’s about time that the drama should be wrapped up decently.
This episode was all about the pressures that Sameer & Dhaani had to face. Finally, Sameer decided to take the matter in his hands because he knew that it was because of his mistake that Dhaani’s father got insulted by his family. Sameer knows that in this entire scenario, neither Dhaani nor Kaleemuddin were at fault because where Dhaani was maintaining a distance from him, Kaleemuddin didn’t even have an idea about everything that was going on. For the first time, I liked Sameer’s courage & determination to make things right because it’s high time that he should know that everything that transpired was a result of his confusion & late realization. It is good that Sameer has finally understood that Maya is just his friend, whereas Dhaani is the love of his life.
Sameer thought by having a conversation with Kaleemuddin, he will be able to sort things out but he wasn’t allowed to do so by Raja & co. Raja has seen how his entire family suffered & how difficult things got for Kaleem, that is why his harsh reaction came naturally. In the middle of this, what I liked the most was that Raja immediately realized his responsibilities & showed his potential to Kaleem as to how far he can go to protect his family. It was good to see Kaleemuddin relying on Raja & being proud of his maturity with which he extended his support to Kaleem. Raja finally got a chance to show to Sameer that he won’t be given a chance to hurt Dhaani again, part of it was also because Raja himself was hurt after finding out that Dhaani was interested in Sameer!
Sameer had to face his father, Maya & also Riyasat but it was good to see that he didn’t waiver & put forth his feelings & stand like a man. Rehan obviously thought that Sameer would second guess his feelings after he will threaten him disownment but little does he know that it took a lot for Sameer to realize what he wants in his life, as in who he wants in his life, that is why that threat didn’t make much difference to Sameer as he knows that for his father, wealth & power means everything & he judges people based on that criteria too. Maya also got an answer by Sameer that she wasn’t expecting. Maya also got to know that for Sameer she was always a friend & he believes in maintaining that relation with her only. Maya’s reaction didn’t come as a surprise to me because by seeing how Riyasat has spoiled her, she can’t take no for an answer & she can never handle rejection gracefully. Riyasat also tried to threaten Sameer but it was of no use too because at this moment, Sameer has made up his mind & there is absolutely nothing that will stop him!
Kaleemuddin decides to pre-pone Dhaani’s wedding because of obvious reasons as he knows that if Sameer can make it to this area, it won’t take him long to make it to his house too & that will bring a lot of contemplation their way which he most certainly won’t be able to handle. Dhaani knows that she has no say in this matter because she herself said yes to Amjad’s proposal & now she can not back out especially because of a guy like Sameer who wasn’t interested in her in the first place.
Overall, this entire episode was done well. It is good to see Sameer’s stance regarding this entire situation. I can’t wait to see how he will convince his entire family & most importantly how he will win Kaleemuddin over because that is going to be a mammoth task. This drama has been quite interesting but I wish that the pace doesn’t slow down at this stage of the drama. The direction has been great & like I always say, I love the appropriate usage of the OST in those scenes where it is needed the most. All the actors have done a brilliant job & overall this drama is a complete entertainment package. Please share your thoughts about this interesting episode of Dhaani.

This first episode of Shehrnaz belonged to Ayeza Khan and Sajid Hassan. It was heart-warming to see the relationship between these two characters. Also, although there was nothing outstanding about this first episode but it can safely be concluded that it was free of clichés. The relationship between all the characters was not the sort of relationship which we typically see in many dramas. Even in Sherry’s house although the dynamics were such that there could have been a lot of problems between all the people sharing the house especially given Hina’s mother’s (Nida Mumtaz) circumstances but that was not the case. All the characters got plenty of screen time and this was a fast paced introductory episode.
Shehnaz (Ayeza Khan) was shown as a girl who likes to dream big, she has a lot of faith in herself and she also has talent. The fact that her overflowing confidence was supported by a strong personality definitely helped. Also, the viewers got to find out more about her personality directly from her actions instead of hearing other people talk about her. Her father (Sajid Hassan) supports her dreams wholeheartedly. This was the most refreshing part of this first episode. The way the relationship between Shehrnaz and her father was shown was a treat to watch. Shehrnaz feels that her father does not get the appreciation he deserves and one day when she will be rich and famous, she will help him open his own outlet. Shehnaz does not tell her friends about her background, lies about having a car and a driver but at the same time she finds it difficult to keep the truth to herself for very long. She is not very proud of her name either because it is not the sort of name which a “heroine” would have therefore she insists that her friends should call her Shehrnaz. Shehrnaz’s father Naseeb Gul is a tailor who stitches clothes for a leading designer who does not give him the credit he deserves. It is great watching Sajid Hassan in this role. He is a versatile actor who always gives his best performance every time. Ayeza Khan portrayed Shehrnaz’s confidence, her energy and her overall personality flawlessly on screen. It is also good to see her in this new look. Shehrnaz definitely seems like the sort of heroine who will give Ayeza Khan a new introduction if the character is taken forward intelligently.
Sherry’s (Farhan Malhi) track did not appear to be very appealing or different in this first episode but the promos of the drama clearly show that he will have a big role to play in the story. Mehmood Akhtar is gradually becoming one of my favorite supporting actors. He brings out the best in all his characters whether they are positive or negative. Overall, this first episode gave me reason to tune into Shehrnaz next week primarily because of Shehrnaz herself! It is always great to watch a strong leading lady in dramas and it is even better when such a character is played by an actress who does not usually play such roles.

Mahira Khan is not only beautiful but also emotionally intelligent. When Miss Khan spoke at TEDx Lahore Women, she revealed that she has also been victim of cyber- bullying several times. She shared that she had been through very difficult times when haters posted offensive comments about her on social media.She took the opportunity of finally sharing her story at TEDx Lahore Women.
Mahira said, “I got trolled and trolled bad, every day I would open up my social media accounts and read something which would upset me”
“But one day I had a panic attack, I thought I would die, I couldn’t breathe”
She shared it was then I tried to get stronger and also realized that how negatively cyber- bullying is affecting her.
“What I realised was that I was looking at myself through the eyes of a troll. My face through the eyes of a troll. My choices through the eyes of a troll. My life through the eyes of one”
Soon she realized that she needs to block all the negativity as it was all a lie.
” And let me tell you one thing, it wasn’t pretty. But what it definitely wasn’t is that it wasn’t -real, it wasn’t the truth”
She also shared that how she was bullied at school and therefore how necessary it is to teach children to be compassionate towards other.
It is good to see that how these famous celebs. share their personal stories and allow the audience to learn from them. Recently Mahira have faced many negative comments on Instagram and twitter due to Indo- Pak controversy but she gave them excellent replies which were enough to make them quite.
It was on 4th October that Fawad Khan and his wife Sadaf were blessed with their second child a baby girl. Finally the couple has named the little princess “Elayna Fawad Khan”.
Though no pictures have been shared by the couple on social media. The couple organised a get together for close friends and family to celebrate the daughter’s one-month into this world at their humble abode in Lahore.

For all the fans of Mawra Hoccane, here is the good news, as the starlet would be soon seen on our television screens. As known before that Mawra has signed a play of HUM TV “Sammi”. The drama is going to be a social cause-based drama which Hum TV is presenting in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University. Mawra will be a playing the female lead role in the play.
The actress has started preparing for this very different serial and shared the news with her fans on social media.
According to sources Mawra shared ‘I prefer my scripts in Urdu over Roman. That gives me an opportunity to improve my Urdu vocabulary’
The shooting of the play will start next week in Rahim Yar Khan. In a way it seems that Mawra is following her sister as previously Urwa did an excellent play Udaari. As Udaari was able to leave a very sound impact on the audience, Mawra is very excited for acting in a play which will be touching a social- cause too!
It is said all is well that ends well, Humaira Arshad has settled her dispute with her husband. Previously Humaira had decided to part her ways because she was being physically and emotionally abused by her husband. She also shared that her husband Ahmed Ali Butt has threatened her and also tried to kidnap her son. The couple was having an intense legal battle over the custody of there only child.
According to sources soon Ahmed will be withdrawing from the child custody case and will be staying with his wife Humaira as he has given an unconditional apology. Humaira has accepted her husbands apology and has decided to reunite.
Previously Humaira decided to take a divorce and therefore was living with her mother from the last two months. But as the couple has decided to live together and save the family from being a broken family, now the legal formalities and religious requirements in this regard would soon be completed.
It is very sad that the famous Pakistani actress Asma Abbas, sister of Bushra Ansari has been diagnosed with cancer. Asma has done several great projects which are worth mentioning Saltnat-e-Dil, Mamta, Laadon main Pali, Janam Jali, Nanhi, Mann Ke Moti and one of her latest project being aired on Hum Tv is Laaj . Asma has been ruling our hearts since many years.
This sad news was revealed by Faisal Qureshi in his morning show on ARY Zindagi. Faisal has asked the fans, to pray for Asma Abbas’s quick recovery.
It is deeply saddening and shocking to see that lively lady fighting with such a deadly disease. Our prayers are with Asma Abbas. May Allah bless her with health very soon.
Ohkay so, tonight our favorite drama came to an end & I am really happy with the overall journey of Besharam. It is actually quite good to know that we still have such drama makers who believe in keeping things short & to the point. Isn’t is refreshing to see such an approach of the drama-makers who when feel that they have covered everything, they decide to end the drama at the right time despite all the ratings that they are getting? I will commend ARY Digital for changing how things used to work when it came to their dramas because the unnecessary dragging ruined a lot of good dramas so this thing has definitely improved & may I add, for the better definitely. This drama actually conveyed everything & I guess it was for the first time in years when I felt that the last episode was slow because they didn’t have so much left to be wrapped up & chipped in the very last episode. They gave this drama a complete ending by revolving the last episode around the main characters only, which is a bonus!
I actually awed at the conversation Sara had with Mishi. It was like they saved the best for the last because all the viewers were waiting to see Sara’s change of heart & she proved it that it was her children who taught her the importance of relationships & how one should value them. I loved how the writer subtly touched on the fact that the parents can be wrong too & when they realize it, they can be dignified enough to gracefully accept their mistakes. The writer also hinted a lot on the fact that the children do learn from their parents mistakes, that is why while Sara was the one who miserably failed at 3 marriages & some relationships, all her kids stayed true to their commitment to their partners. Even though Sofia & Wahab were poles apart, Sofia ended up accepting Wahab with all his flaws & shortcomings, which is actually a very sweet message that the writer put forward. Wahab definitely didn’t fit the bill of an ideal husband personality wise, but Sofia was the center of his universe & he loved his wife to bits, which is why Sofia also chose to stay with him. Similarly, despite knowing that Haider might not be able to afford the lifestyle that Mishi was used to, Mishi chose to stay with him to prove to herself, to her mother & the entire world that despite being a model, she can make her marriage work. Then came Manan, who without even bothering about his mother’s objection & disapproval, chose Humna & made sure to have everyone accept her. This was definitely the best message that the writer saved for the last which once again reinforced the importance of valuing your relationships, against all the odds. It also reinforced the fact that one should have a confidence in oneself because then everything starts falling into its right place!
Finally, Mishi got to share the moment with her mother that she waited for all her life. It was actually quite beautiful how this time around, it was Sara who was reminding Mishi about Haider & everything that he has done for her. Sara was right, she was a depressed soul because she chose such a fate for herself thinking that she will be able to survive but it was actually quite heart-warming to see her warning her daughter Mishi using her experiences as an example, to stop her from committing such a mistake that Sara herself committed when she was young & still hopeful that she will find that someone special. Sara could see that Haider was Mishi’s someone special & he was her Mr. Right, that is why she stopped Mishi from ruining something so beautiful!
Finally, Haider learned the truth about Asfand Sultan. Asfand himself had to admit that his optimism, his drive to bring a change didn’t do any good to him & his party, that is why he tweaked with his ideology a little & voila, there he was, a very successful & powerful politician. Asfand thought he will keep on manipulating Haider by using money as a bait but little did he know that the model he was looking down upon had completely won Haider over. Being a very judgmental outsider, Asfand actually underestimated the strength of Mishi & Haider’s relationship, but Haider didn’t take much time in letting Asfand know how wrong he was & what his wife meant to him. Haider finally left Asfand’s party with a promise that he won’t allow the people of his locality to commit a mistake that Haider did by trusting a corrupt politician like Asfand Sultan.
Mishi forcefully accepted the modelling offer & Haider decided to bring her back in his life. Mishi realized that she couldn’t go back to her old life & Haider realized that he was nothing without Mishi & they both had a happy ending!
Overall, the last episode was great but I wish that in stead of leaving it on the viewer’s imagination, they had covered a little bit about the professional lives of Mishi & Haider after they got back togther, because even though it is obvious that they both will make a living for themselves, it would’ve still been nice to see something at least. Also, I wish they had also showed that Wahab Sunyara realized his mistake & chose to return the shop to Haider & Sikandar because now he had no reason to hold a grudge against Haider. Well well well, I am actually falling short of the words of praises for the entire team of Besharam. When I decided to review it, I had no idea what I was getting into & I had no idea that it will end up becoming one of my favorite dramas of all times. Besharam has become one such drama that I actually find myself recommending to all those who ask me which drama they should watch next because it is that good. I will commend Sarwat Nazir for coming up with such a unique yet simple plot which she made sure to fill with positive messages without making it look preachy. In an era where we only get star-studded disasters with no story-line, zero entertainment value & such dramas which are aired only to generate the revenue, Besharam was a breath of fresh air, it actually was because of being absolutely simple yet so different.
The writer Sarwat Nazeer told everyone that showing a marital relationship in a drama does not mean that all the negatives of that relationship have to be highlighted. We saw a daughter in law (Mishi), a sister in law (Humna) & a mother in law (Khadija) who actually changed the perspective of the viewers & forced them to see things differently. Sarwat Nazeer also showed how being emotionally strong, level headed & independent doesn’t mean that one should not & can not budge or compromise for the sake of their spouses. The entire journey of Mishi & Haider revolved around trust, love & respect & most importantly, some space & time that they both gave each other to understand each other over the period of time & when they did, they couldn’t live without each other, which is actually a rarity in our dramas. How often do we get to see such husbands who trust their wives blindly while they themselves are learning more & more about them? How often do we get to see such wives who happily sacrifice everything for their husbands because they want to nurture & strengthen their relationship? It is actually quite amusing that we as viewers alwayssss were scared that something bad will happen. We as viewers were always waiting for a storm to take over Mishi & Haider’s lives because sadly, our drama writers have gotten us used to the idea of ‘sazishi’ & ‘negativity ridden’ dramas so much, due to which we were unable to grasp that we were actually getting to see a drama which had honest & straight forward characters & we were getting to see a drama where things got sorted before turning into ugly misunderstandings! Besharam always took the viewers by surprise because they got to see such characters who actually ‘talked’ to each other like normal people do, they actually got see a couple doing all those things that normal couples do, like discuss the happenings of an entire day, share a cup of coffee, motivate each other & most importantly, empower each other! I loved loved loved how the writer gave us such a beautiful & unique love story which will be remembered for a long long time.
I will thank the director for directing such a brilliant script beautifully. This drama didn’t have any loopholes in terms of direction & everything was conveyed brilliantly. The OST was beautiful & what made it even better was the appropriate usage of it to add more depth to the situations. All the actors, irrespective of the coverage their characters got did a wonderful wonderful job. I thank the writer for introducing us to Wahab Sunyara, where just his presence in the frame made things light-hearted. Malik Raza elevated the level of Wahab Sunyara & I am sure no one else could’ve portrayed this character with such flawlessness like he did & undoubtedly Malik Raza made Wahab Sunyara a memorable character too! I absolutely enjoyed watching Mehmood Akhtar on screen, he was brilliant as a selfish Uncle who also had some niceness in him & occasionally felt bad for his late brother’s family. Atiqa Odho, Fia, Sundus Tariq, Shahista Jabeen, Farah Nadeem, Ghana Ali, each & every actor did a wonderful job & gave their best shot. I must say, I love the fact that the writer didn’t make all the characters completely black & white because of which they seemed quite relateable & admirable as well. I will also thank the writer for the subtle humor which she added in the drama through the dialogues, which actually made Besharam a complete package which had some filminess, some drama, some family politics, some heart-warming moments, a lot of emotional moments & a comic relief as well. Now, talking about the Stars of the show; Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed, I am sure if it wasn’t for them, Mishi & Haider might not have made a place in our hearts. Both Saba & Zahid are the reason why the interest of the viewers never faltered in this drama & it was their acting & their beautiful chemistry on-screen which actually forced the viewers to tune to this drama every single week. It is amazing that the credit for the success of this drama goes to both Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed because it was their joint effort & both of them gave a 100% in their performances. Thank you so so so so much Team Besharam for giving us such a beautiful drama, sadly our Tuesdays won’t be the same anymore but all good things come to an end. Thank you so much once again.
