Ohkay so, this episode of Kathputli was good because it showed the solution to the problems that Ahad & Mehru were facing & also, it showed how people like Ehtashaam can be dealt with. I think our dramas mostly focus on showing the problems & very rarely they shed a light on the solutions, but at least at this stage of this drama, they decided to show how people can bring themselves out of their misery if they want to, which was refreshing to see.
Sonia thought that Ahad & Mehru should get married because she assumed that they both not only knew but liked each other as well. Just because Sonia got to know that they were spotted at an apartment together, she believed that they actually were going out & wanted to be with each other. Even though Sonia paid more heed to her assumptions, what she decided for them was actually in good spirit & gave Ahad & Mehru a hope that they had lost after being abandoned by their families.
Ahad deemed Sonia’s proposal as a head-start that he needed in order to make his life better, that is why he tried to convince Mehru to go ahead with what was being told them to do as well. I actually liked the way Ahad tried to make Mehru realize how they both had no other option then to accept what the life was offering to them at this stage. Ahad has lived a life of desperation & with no support from his family, he understood that he had to hold onto this opportunity because this was a golden chance that life was giving to him. Mehru at first seemed a little confused but it was good to know that the phone conversation with Saira put things into perspective & she realized that she had to let go of the glimmer of hope that he was holding onto which made her feel that may be her brothers will let her come back into their lives.
I liked the way Sonia dealt with Ehtasham. She made it clear that she wasn’t going to budge & there was no amount of money that could force her to let go of her plans & make her forget her principles. Sonia convinced Ehtasham that he had already pushed Mehru out of his life, so there was no point in being concerned about her life & death, which was actually true. Ehtasham did what he wanted to, so now he shouldn’t have concerned himself with what Sonia was planning for Mehru & her future. Ehtasham found it in his heart to throw Mehru out of his life so then he should have grown the spine to let her life freely now that she was out from his home.
Mehru wanted to get in contact with Shiraz but Saira talked her out of it, which was partially wise & partially unwise too. Like Shiraz said, Mehru saw him as someone who would shape her life & he was her last hope, so may be if Shiraz had learned that Mehru was alive, he would’ve went out of the way to help her. Yes, getting married to her would’ve been impossible for now as Mehru needed secrecy the most, but may be Shiraz could’ve come up with a plan or something, but then Saira knew that Shiraz belonged to Ehtasham’s family & Mehru’s relationship with Shiraz could’ve put her life in danger, that’s why she told her not to get in contact with him & maintain a distance as much as she could. Even Shiraz finds himself guilty of leaving Mehru in the lurch & it will take some time for him to snap out of it, but for now I am unable to understand what role Shiraz & his wife will play in this drama?
Overall, this episode was good & I liked Ahad’s approach towards this opportunity & his marriage to Mehru because he not only believes in shaping up his life but he also understands that Mehru is an individual who can have certain dreams that she might want to pursue too. Ahad doesn’t want to turn this relationship into a typical marriage because he has a lot of other things to take care of & that is why he also believes in giving Mehru the freedom & space she might need to decide what sort of future she wants for herself, which I felt was quite thoughtful of him. He did seem a little selfish but then he is someone who has always felt defeated, so it is natural for him to get a little selfish in this regard plus there’s always a possibility that he would want to remain married to Mehru as he might start liking her. Anyways, the preview of the next episode showed that things will start getting ugly between Mehru & Ahad because by the end of the day, they are two complete strangers who were forced to be together. I hope they don’t drag this aspect & give coverage to it more than it requires. So far, this journey has been great & more than that, it has been on-point, so let’s see what more it has to offer. Ohkay so, surprisingly, even though I know the theme of the drama is quite depressing, I really like how so far the director has treated it & more than that, I like how the writer has made sure that the message is conveyed through. The pace of the drama has been quite good so far & even the preview of the next episode promised a lot but I am dreading that they will start taking things way too slowly once the 10th episode mark will be crossed. I hope the director ends it just as intelligently as he has tackled this script so far & more than that at a perfect time as well.
Even though Ahad’s friend didn’t want to get involved in such a complicated matter, he indirectly helped Ahad & Mehru more than they could have thought of. Zaid brought in Sonia, a lawyer & a social activist who ran an NGO & who decided to bring Ahad & Mehru out of their misery because she knew that the police was just making a mountain out of molehill. At first, when Ahad’s friend Zaid told him to lie about everything, I had my doubts about Sonia that she might be one of those who only believed in helping people in only those cases where things & the truth were tweaked according to her taste because Zaid made sure Ahad lied & also when Sonia came in contact with Mehru, she chose not to believe her side of the story because it wasn’t as colorful as she would’ve liked it to be, but as the episode progressed my doubts subsided because Sonia dealt with this entire matter logically & made it clear that she only wanted to help Ahad & Mehru.
Ehtasham & Hassam are both despicable. I would’ve liked if at least one of the brothers had a soft spot in their hearts for Mehru but both of them are the same where they just wanted to get rid of Mehru by hook or by crook. Ehtashaam knows his brother a little too well, that’s why he didn’t keep a secret & told him everything that he had actually planned for Mehru, where he just wanted to get over with the funeral rites & then wanted to kill her to turn her lie into a reality. It was actually quite disgusting how Ehtashaam thought that Mehru was is the only one who has to bear the burden of family’s dignity & didn’t even think for a second that his sister was in jail, among so many unknown men who could actually harass & violate her. (elcpinellas.org) Ehtasham’s concept of dignity & respect are quite twisted because what he says at one hand ends up contradicting what he does at the other. Ehtasham made a deal with the policeman that he will bring Mehru & Ahad out of jail to some remote area where Ehtasham will kill both of them himself, so much for dignity & pride, eh! It was actually quite sad to see that even Hassam was perfectly fine with the idea of his sister’s death like that, without even thinking for a second that she could actually be innocent & the police might’ve mistook the entire situation.
Sonia played her part really well & she knew that the police’s version of Mehru & Ahad’s story wasn’t accurate & she also knew that the police inspector might’ve made a pact with Mehru’s family as the way he was dealing with this case off the record wasn’t justified & showed exactly what he was being told to do by someone else. When Sonia saw that the police inspector didn’t want things to go to court, that is when she understood the entire game that was being played against Mehru & Ahad as then could foresee what their fate could be. It was good that Saira came to Mehru’s rescue & met the right person at a right time because she ended up saving Mehru’s life. It is actually nice to see that there’s someone at least who thinks rationally & doesn’t mind taking a step in the right direction against all the odds. Even though Mehru didn’t want to go with Sonia but when she heard Saira’s name, she knew that she was in right hands & now things might be alright.
Overall, it was a good episode because all the things that the writer wanted to show are being conveyed properly without glorifying the situation & without commercializing it too. Throughout the episode, I liked how things were kept realistic & relatively simple otherwise if it wasn’t depicted like that, we wouldn’t have felt the misery of Mehru especially. I am glad that the director chose to give such a script a right treatment because there’s a message in it that needs to be conveyed. I just hope that the drama progresses with the same pace & ends at the right time because the dragging will only compromise the purpose of this drama & might as well defeat that purpose too. Ohkay so, this episode of Kathputli was quite emotional & I must say the actors conveyed those emotions beautifully. The direction of this play is good too but I feel it could’ve been better. Things are getting quite interesting & now we’ll have to see how the duo in trouble will come out of it & how they will help each other because I am sure they won’t be left with any other option than to support each other.
Ahad & Mehru came across in such an awkward situation & before Ahad could find out who she is & before Mehru could tell where she came from, they got arrested. Both Ahad & Mehru couldn’t wrap their heads around with what was happening to them because they couldn’t even imagine doing what people were accusing them of. It was Liaqat who was the culprit but the police just barged in & without even interrogating, they chose to arrest them. I felt that just because Ahad knew about Liaqat’s activities, he could’ve put two & two together & should’ve explained that may be the complaint was made against the house owner & not Ahad & Mehru because they don’t live there.
Mehru’s mother & sister were just beginning to worry about Mehru when Hassam showed up & could sense that something was off. A lot of lies were being told but both Zeenat & Saira couldn’t keep up as they knew that the men of the house were quite rigid when it came to Mehru & also because they were guilty, they couldn’t keep the secret for long. Hassam found out that Mehru lied to them & assumed that she went away somewhere else that too with someone because sadly her friend backed out too & chose not to tell the truth.
Mehru already understood that she was in deep trouble because she knew that her brothers will never ever come to help her. Similarly, even though Ahad was scared too but he was hopeful that may be his father or if not him, then his brother will show up. It was actually sad to know that they still were seeing a light at the end of the tunnel & they actually overestimated the love their families might feel for them because soon enough they were about to find out that they meant nothing to their family members, except their mothers because where Zaitoon Bano was depressed over what she heard, Zeenat got hospitalized after she got to know the evil & sickening plans of Ehtashaam.
Mehru knew that her brothers might end up killing her, that’s why she was hesitant & didn’t give the phone number to the police where they could contact her family. I liked the way the policewoman helped Mehru understand how she needed to help the police in order to get bailed out as she could see that Mehru was scared & needed some emotional support at such a time. Everything that the woman said hit home for Mehru & she realized that her mother must be worrying sick that’s why she decided to let the police make a call to Ehtashaam but he chose not to think about his sister who was in deep trouble but accepted what he heard on the phone & came up with a plan that only someone with cruel mind & heard could think of. Ehtashaam is so engrossed in his fake idea of dignity & pride that he didn’t even think twice before getting the word out that Mehru has died. He did tell his wife that he will get Mehru out of the prison but he won’t allow her to come back, but I am not sure if he meant that or he was lying to stop his wife from questioning him. As a brother, Ehtashaam should’ve at least questioned the possibility of the charges on Mehru being true, because like Saira said, it could’ve been a mistake on the police’s part too but Ehtashaam took police’s word to be the final & ended up believing that Mehru was involved in some wrong activity.
I must say, the way Sanam Chaudhry conveyed the feelings of Mehru was quite emotional, it was like you could feel her fears, her worry & her pain. Mehru was shattered & she was cursing herself for lying to her mother, all those emotions were covered perfectly by the director & the actor as well. Farhan Ahmed as Ahad has done a great job too, like you can see that he is someone who has lost the least bit of hope in himself & he is just pushing it through to make something out of his life. It is going to be interesting how two broken people, estranged from their families will come together & might end up becoming a source of happiness for each other. I must say, I am disappointed at the editors of Hum TV, because once again the promo of this episode that they showed last week suggested Mehru’s faux funeral scenes were going to be a part of this episode but seems like we’ll have to wait another week to see that. It’s not the first time where Hum TV has mislead the viewers with such previews & I guess they should stop doing that because it looks like a lie & a bait that they give to the viewers to make sure they tune every single week. Ohkay so, the story is moving forward & I hope the same pace is maintained till the drama lasts because the dramas that deal with the ordeals that the girls go through tend to get a bit slow & dragged at certain stage. I do have a feeling that there’s a lot more that the story has yet to offer, that’s why I am keeping my hopes high.
Ehtasham has decided that he is going to marry Mehru off to an office boy that works for him. He thinks this is the best proposal & option for Mehru because he has to get rid of her as soon as possible. Ehtasham thinks that by marrying Mehru off quickly, he will be able to prove something to Shiraz, whereas he is completely forgetting that the one who will end up suffering is none other than his own sister. I really really like Saira’s character, it is good to see that without crossing a line, she know how to take a stand for the right & that is why despite being aware of Ehtasham’s attitude & temper, she reasons with him, questions his choices & doesn’t hold back in putting forth her opinion in a hope that it might change her husband’s perspective & might force him to think things through. Saira thinks Mehru can get married to any eligible bachelor because she is a fine young lady but Ehtsaham thinks the otherwise. Saira’s idea of seeing Mehru as her sister-in-law was enough to show the feelings Saira had for Mehru & how much she felt for her but just because Ehtasham thinks that he will lose his pride & position in his in-laws, Saira’s brother as Mehru’s husband is not an option at all.
Mehru is finding it hard to cope up with what Ehtasham has done to her & that is why for the first time, she decided to rebel & do what her heart told her to. Mehru was not afraid of stepping outside the vicinity of her home because she wanted to take her mind off everything that happened & also because she wanted to feel what it is like to not follow the instructions of his inconsiderate brothers for once. Mehru went to Liaqat’s place with her friend & decided to stay back because her friend assured her that Liaqat doesn’t share this apartment with anyone. It was good to see that it didn’t take Mehru too long to realize that she chose to risk everything & put herself in trouble because her friend didn’t take her seriously when she said she had to return home by evening. Mehru realized that there was no thrill in being rebellious & she felt guilty because she lied to her mother for the first time. I feel for Mehru a lot, she has suffered enough pain & she is shattered but she is so used to the idea of being bossed around by her brothers that just a few moments of freedom made her realize that it wasn’t worth it.
Ahad is having a hard time because his father & brother aren’t ready to forgive him & they still believe that he stole the ring & also the money that his father had. Ahad knows that his mother went out of the way to help him & the way she still takes a stand for him can land her in trouble time & again because his father is too stern & misunderstands her & Ahad too, that is why he tells her to let him be her scapegoat, at least tjat would save her from the insults that her husband throws at her. Ahad decided to go to Liaqat’s place, whom he referred to as Zaid, which goes to show that Liaqat isn’t a decent person to begin with, that is why even his neighbors were concerned about his activities & decided to take a strict action against him. The way Ahad spoke to Mehru & judged her was enough of an evidence that he took her as one of those girls who Liaqat spends time with in his apartment, that is why Ahad mistook Mehru to be one of those indecent & immoral girls too as it was evident through his behavior towards her.
The preview of the next episode was shocking because looks like Ehtasham will do everything to disown Mehru & scrape her name out of his life. I am glad that the director is done with this aspect quickly because then the story will shift to Mehru & will focus more on how she will pick up the pieces to bring herself out of the misery. I hope Mehru empowers herself & learns to be self-sufficient & independent. It will be quite interesting to see that & I hope the director make it worthwhile. I must say, I am so glad to see a sister-in-law like Saira in this drama, it is refreshing to see that for a change that a sister-in-law, despite being married to such a rigid person, doesn’t mind going out of the way for her husband’s sister & has enough compassion in her heart to do everything that can help the girl who’s in pain & is suffering through a mental trauma. We need more sisters-in-law like these in our dramas please, because yes, it may sound surprising, but these sort of characters appeal to the viewers too. Ohkay so, the production of Momina Duraid, writing of Faiza Iftikhar & direction of Atif Rathore; Kathputli hit our screens 3 weeks ago & is currently airing on Saturday 8PM on HUM TV. I started watching it after it got recommended to me & I found it to be quite interesting. I am glad that I had 3 episodes to watch one after another because it gave me enough material to make up my mind if I was going to follow or review it or not. The drama has a simple story-line, with some seen-before characters but it has been packaged nicely by the creative team & that is what makes it a decent drama to tune into.
The story is about the family of Mehr-un-Nisa (Sanam Chaudhry), who lives with her mother Zeenat (Farah Nadeem) & two brothers Ehtasham (Atif Rathore) & Hassam (Fasi Sardar). Mehru is engaged to her first cousin Shiraz (Gohar Mumtaz) who doesn’t live in Pakistan & is her only support system because when it comes to her brothers, they are quite strict & have very rigid rules that they have set for Mehru. Ehtasham takes care of his family, therefore he thinks he is the one who will decide how his family members should lead their life. It was only because of Shiraz & his family’s support that Mehru got the permission to go to the college because when it comes to Ehtasham, he doesn’t deem it fit to allow Mehru to step outside the vicinity of his home. Ehtasham is shown to be quite a conservative person who thinks it is his birth right to control the ladies of his house because when it comes to his younger brother Hassam, all the rules change. Ehtasham endorses a very typical mentality where he thinks his sister doesn’t have a right to life freely but his brother can do whatever he wants to.
Then we were introduced to the family of Zaitoon Bano (Shaheen Khan), which consists of her husband, eldest son Ahsan, his wife Mehwish (Binita) & youngest son Ahad (Farhan Ahmed Malhi). This family is quite dysfunctional because seems like the father is not happy with how things are rolling in his family. He has become quite bitter because his retirement is approaching & he is worried how his sons will take care of this entire family. His sons do not share a cordial relationship with their father too because he keeps on reminding them of their responsibilities, which they don’t really take seriously. Mehwish has Ahsan wrapped around her finger & that is why she keeps on telling him how only he shouldn’t be the one contributing to the household expenses only because Ahad should do that too. Ahad is still looking for a job & he knows that his father will keep on taunting him till he starts making some money.
So, Ehtasham happens to be getting married but he tells his mother that his marriage will take place on his conditions only because he doesn’t like meaningless functions & gatherings. On that occasion Shiraz, his mother (Samina Ahmed) & his sister Neha, tell Zeenat that they will be attending Ehtasham’s wedding & will spend that time in their house because it happens to be the first wedding of her family. Ehtasham tells Mehru clearly that she should not mingle with Shiraz because he wouldn’t tolerate it. Ehtasham gets married & tells his wife about his expectations which more likely end up looking like the restrictions he was imposing on her. Just when Shiraz is about to leave, he along with Neha plans to meet Mehru on the terrace, that’s when Ehtasham sees them both together & calls their engagement quits. Shiraz admits that it was his mistake & Mehru wasn’t at fault, therefore he thinks its his duty to fix things & only because of that reason, he sends his mother to Mehru’s house once again to sort things out. Hassam tells Ehtasham that he wants to get married to Neha so if Zeenat wants to see Mehru getting married to Shiraz, she should demand that they should also get Neha engaged or married to Hassam too. Shiraz’s mother refuses to accept Neha’s proposal & that’s when they finally decide that Mehru & Shiraz can not be together.
On the other front, just when Ahad is about to leave for his job interview to another city, his mother gives him some money & tells him to keep it to himself. Mehwish blames Ahad for stealing her wedding ring & just when she finds out some money in his pocket, Ahad takes the blame on himself because he knows that if he tells the truth that it was his mother who gave him the money, it could land her in trouble. Ahad leaves his place & looks like he has nowhere to go now.
I actually felt bad for Mehru when her engagement with Shiraz ended because Shiraz was the outlet that she required & looked forward to. She knew that her life will completely change once she will get married to Shiraz because he & his family lived life normally & didn’t believe in such restrictions & boundaries that Ehtasham had decided for her. Mehru was hopeful & in that hope, she followed the instructions of her brothers because she knew that it’s just a matter time when she will break free from this cage & live the life with Shiraz that she always dreamt of but sadly, all her dreams were crushed only because of the ego of her brothers especially Ehtasham. Another character that was introduced was of Ehtasham’s wife Saira. It was so obvious that Ehtasham looked down on his wife because she came from a lower middle class family but what was good about her was that she reasoned with Ehtasham & left him speechless. I hope that she brings a change in her husband’s mentality & changes his perspective because that will bring peace & harmony in the entire family. The note at which the 3rd episode ended was good but what’s making me look forward to this drama is the preview of the 4th episode because looks like Mehru’s life is going to change completely & she & Ahad will cross paths with each other.
The drama has been executed decently & the direction of the drama is great too. All the actors have performed brilliantly & the writing so far seems quite interesting. I was a bit disappointed to see the central character of Ehtasham being shown in a negative light for being religious but sadly, our society is full of such hypocritical people who believe in setting different rules for different people & who don’t really mind looking down on people, therefore Ehtasham’s character ended up looking justified, more like a bitter truth. I must say that the character of Ehtasham has been etched out perfectly by the writer & the actor Atif Rahtore has done complete justice to it because he made me loath his character which actually is a win for him as an actor. Sanam Chaudhry is such an eye-candy & I loved watching her performance throughout these episodes. It was the organizers way of letting them enjoy the experience and both of them looked high spirited and cheerful when they came out of the rickshaw. On day 4 of the Royal Visit, Kate Middleton and Prince William went to see the beautiful valley of Chitral. They both visited the Chiatibo Glacier in Broghil National Park to see the melting glacier, a result of the global warming. On this day, William and Kate kept their attire stylish but casual. Kate Middleton wore a brown buttoned dress shirt and brown skirt. She paired it with a sleeveless leather jacket and wore long boots. Kate also added a beige shawl following the dress code protocol. Kate tied her hair and wore Missoma 18ct Gold Plated Chandelier earrings with a similar design to the traditional Pakistani jewellery. After completing their visit to beautiful valley of Chitral, the Royal Couple arrived in Lahore. Kate wore a beautiful white custom shalwar kameez by Gul Ahmed, wore a dupatta designed by Maheen Khan and completed the look with nude JCrew’s Lucie Suede Pumps and Mulberry clutch. Kate wore a pair of Asprey London’s Small Oak Leaf Earrings. This gorgeous shirt piece was not only beautiful but it had a significant meaning to it as well. At the beginning of the day in Lahore, the Royal Couple visited the SOS Children’s Village, which provides a family structure for vulnerable children, who are given a home and cared for by a caretaker to help them develop into happy and confident adults. They also celebrated a birthday party of one of the 150 children at the SOS Children’s Village.
After that, they visited the National Cricket Academy and spent time with the cricketers and tried hands on a few batting shots themselves. Kate swapped her heels for a pair of plimsolls to show off her sporting skills during a game of cricket. A mesmerizing rendition of Pakistan’s national anthem by two young musicians from Kashmir has gone viral.
The four-minute-long video shows the two musicians rendering heavenly music using the musical instruments santoor and rabab. Santoor, a native of Kashmir, is also famously the national instrument of Iran and Rabaab is a plectrum device used to strike these chords, to create musical sounds.
Hindustan Times reported that the two young musicians are Zubair Ahmad, 22, and Umar Majeed, 18. These youngsters rendered Pakistan’s national anthem and took internet by storm.
Pakistan launched the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) after Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The Kashmir Premier League has been launched in collaboration with the Pakistan Cricket Board and six teams have been added to the league.
The teams include Muzaffarabad Tigers, Mirpur Royals, Kotli Panthers, Rawalkot Hawks, Bagh Stallions and Overseas Warriors while the league matches will be played from April 1.
The launching ceremony of the Kashmir Premier League was held in Islamabad with the participation of Azad Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan and Kashmir Committee Chairman Shehryar Afridi.
Addressing the function, Azad Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan said that Pakistan and Kashmir are incomplete without each other, the people of Kashmir love the people of Pakistan and cricket.
He said that people of Jammu and Kashmir have always supported Pakistan, we will get immense talent from Azad Kashmir.
Chairman Kashmir Committee Shehryar Afridi said that Kashmir is being brought on the map of sports, Pakistan’s talent will emerge in the Kashmir Premier League while the Women’s Premier League will also be introduced in the future.
Shahid Afridi, the brand ambassador of KPL and well-known cricketer, said that just as he was happy for PSL, he was happy for Kashmir Premier League. Through this league, a good image of Kashmir will be spread all over the world.

This time, Green Entertainment introduced a cooking reality show named Kashmir Comedy Kitchen, following the same format and components as India’s Laughter Chef. The Pakistani version is hosted by Faiza Saleem, with Sadaat Siddiqui as the supervising chef. The celebrity participants include Amar Khan, Yashma Gill, Mariyam Nafees, Mustafa Chaudhary, and others.

Earlier this week on Monday 10:47pm, four people were killed in a harsh car accident which took place by speeding vehicles of Kashmala Tariq. Recently Kashmala Tariq’s son Azlan Khan has issued a statement after he was blamed for driving the SUV that crashed into a car killing four people on Islamabad’s Srinagar highway.
Azlan took to his social media account to clear the air, he mentioned that “For the people/media who are blaming me for the death of those souls and and for the people who think I was driving and especially for the people who are giving me death threats, please inquire first and then speak. I was not driving. Islamabad police has the CCTV footage of the tolls and the traffic light camera’s till the end. As me and my family were coming from Lahore, I got out of the car to save my parents whom I thought for a moment were dead. I picked both of them covered in blood. Please do not be the judge of everything yourself and blame me. The lives that are lost can not be brought back but this situation is so heart wrecking. People need to understand that it was an accident not something done intentionally. Blaming me or the elite culture has nothing to do with this. We are humans first and I do have humanity in myself. Me and my family are going through a lot right now. also but people don’t think like that. They think people with power or money are not humans. I was there till the end with the police and authorities. On the other side saying that I ran away is also false.”

Engin Altan Duzyatan recently paid a visit to Pakistan and he was the guest of businessman and TikToker Kashif Zameer. However, as soon as Engin Altan left Pakistan the news regarding fraud with him went viral.

From this, we paid him five lac eighty thousand dollars and rest we will pay on the day of his shoot.”
“I reject all the allegations, I had some case with Motorway police which was a clear misunderstanding which was solved,” he said.
Kashif Zameer proudly stated, “I live in Pakistan and meet many celebrities and nothing happened before but when Ertugrul came to Pakistan all this started happening. Ertugrul is the person who has everything and after clearing then he came to Pakistan. The person who can give him a ring worth 60 lacs and make a deal with him of 70 crores and pay him half of the amount cannot do anything wrong.”
He also announced major news and said, “Ertugrul will be branding for our clothing brand and we have hired him as the brand ambassador of Chaudhary Textiles. Ertugrul will come soon and do his complete shoot in Pakistan, not in Turkey.”

The first project of the platform will be a series comprising 8 or more episodes titled Bazigar. It is based on a famous novel by the author Shakeel Adil Zada and the story is based in an old era. This will be a period drama and the shooting will start in August. The cast will be announced by then.
Kashif Nisar is one of the most dedicated directors of Pakistani drama industry. Kashif Nisar and Bee Gul just gave an interview to Something Haute and made a big announcement. Aik Aur Pakeezah is their last project on television. They will now work exclusively for digital platforms. They will not be working with television channels anymore. This is a major announcement coming from such big names. They are launching a digital channel where everyone will be given their due rights.

Kashif Anwer, the new writer who got a lot of appreciation after writing drama serial Sabaat in his latest interview admitted that he could have written DR. Haris character better than this.
Kashif mentioned that after watching the drama there were some points where I was forced to think that have I written these lines?
Kashif Anwer mentioned that when you are writing a script or drama there are a lot of characters going in your mind.” I accept that there were some flaws and mistakes in Haris’s character” he added.
Furthermore, he said that I was more upset with Dr. Haris’s character than anyone when he realized his mistakes. It was very difficult for him to realize his flaws when on the other hand he has beautifully written the other characters.

Ohkay so, the last episode of Kashf belonged to Junaid Khan. This episode was basically a materialization of all the dreams that Kashf saw in the past few days, therefore all that happened was already pretty much expected, however seeing it in actual was emotionally overwhelming & heart-wrenching. This drama has been nothing short of an amazing journey that imparted amazing lessons along the way.
As much as it also showed how Kashf was made to use the vulnerabilities of people to her family’s benefits, she too was exploited exactly because of that. This was basically a chain reaction that was started off by Imtiyaz & then others started following his lead & they all contributed towards Kashf’s young death. This episode was gripping & didn’t allow me to look away for a second because of the way it was directed & how the lead actors acted. Team Kashf should actually be proud of the efforts they have put in & for doing complete justice to such a uniquely themed drama.
Minute Details
The highlight of this episode for me was the moment when Wajdan was having breakfast in the beginning. It was right at that moment, without uttering a word Junaid Khan made it clear that Wajdan was not in his senses anymore. Then this episode became all about minute details, such as Wajdan holding a hot saucepan with his hands, the petals on Zoya’s face which showed that although this was the beginning of what she had always wanted, the actual picture was daunting & not as beautiful as she had imagined it to be.
I also liked the fact that there were a lot of changes in Kashf’s body language like it was pretty obvious that she was in emotional turmoil & on top of that her dreams were making her restless but it showed that her mental, as well as physical health, was deteriorating. The last time she saw the dream, it was almost as if she realized what it was indicating. Another detail was Kashf taking a bath, wearing Ittar & then getting to drink Aab-e-Zamzam. It was almost as if the plot was being set for her & she was doing everything that was getting her prepared for her eternal journey ahead.
The director Danish Nawaz as well as the writer Imran Nazeer should take a bow for adding these minute & intricate details which actually made it easy to grasp what was yet to come. The way Kashf had absolutely no expression in her eyes while drinking Aab e Zamzam suggested that she was already in a state of trance. The things she said to her mother as well as others yet again suggested that she firmly believed in speaking the truth. Hira Mani should also take a bow for giving Kashf’s character such a realistic treatment, the way she laid there, motionless, with tears glistening on her eyelashes, that moment is going to stay ingrained in the minds of those viewers who were emotionally invested in Kashf’s character & her journey.
I did find the ending to be a bit abrupt. I am sure the director didn’t want to take away the attention from Kashf but actually, it did look like a badly edited last scene where they just ended it like that. Although in the previous episode, it was already suggested that Kashf’s family will suffer & her father will be left begging on the streets but at least, a few scenes following Kashf’s death were necessary I feel to actually make the ending complete & not leaving the viewers asking for more.
The way scenes covering Kashf’s last moments & Wajdan’s state of mind were merged was another favorite part of this episode. I couldn’t help but feel for Wajdan because he too lost track of his life & was now going to suffer for the rest of his life. Junaid Khan’s expressions throughout the episode were beyond impressive. It showed that he had lived through Wajdan’s character & now it all boiled down to this point because of which he had so much clarity in portraying what Wajdan was going through. The way he kept on looking at the ceiling while having breakfast showed that he had already lost coordination & wanted to just be left on his own, in his own imaginary world where he was still with Kashf.
I do wish we had gotten to see Ashi, Dilshad, Imtiyaz, Zoya as well as Rashida’s sufferings a bit more. However, it is understandable that the two main people who were the center of attention; Kashf & Wajdan’s tragic ending would already bring a lot of misery upon them. I was disappointed when I figured out the ending last week, I still feel sad because even after doing so much Kashf had to die to find peace otherwise her family would’ve never changed. A few more details such as her father forcing her to focus on her dreams, her mother explaining to Kashf how much Zoya loves Wajdan showcased how emotionally absent they were. They did have empathy but it was selective & not meant for Kashf, whereas she was the one who needed it the most. It was like her family had grown aloof to her feelings & for them, she was just a puppet they were happy to control.
Kashf had a sad ending but it does make sense. I still feel the abrupt ending partly took away the impact it would’ve made. Seeing Imtiyaz as well as Matiullah in a bad state would’ve been cathartic because the viewers got to see them putting Kashf through so much, therefore the visuals of them suffering were necessary. The same goes for Zoya, Dilshad & Ashi too because we all got to see their selfishness, I think as viewers we deserved to see them suffering too.
Award-Winning Performances
Hira Mani & Junaid Khan should be super proud of themselves for portraying Kashf & Wajdan’s characters to perfection. I am absolutely sure that no one other than Hira Mani would do justice to Kashf’s character. Her realness & overall approach towards this character made it what it was. Junaid Khan did justice to all the shades of Wajdan’s character as well. Danish Nawaz deserves full credit for directing Kashf phenomenally. All these little details that he added made this drama a lot more meaningful. Waseem Abbas; I don’t think anything said about his performance as Imtiyaz would be enough because the way he approached this character & showcased all the emotions was sheer excellence. It shows what a phenomenal performer he is.
Munazzah Arif as Dilshad, Hajra Khan as Ashi, Samina Ahmed as Daadi, Lubna Aslam as Rashida, Sabeena Farooq as Zoya, Maryam Noor as Shumaila, Saleem Mairaj as Matiullah & Tania Hussain as Irum were all brilliant. Sabeena Farooq in particular has shown her caliber as an actor & performer, she really made us all hate Zoya’s character. Writer Imran Nazeer definitely deserves an award for bringing such a unique script & brilliantly written characters – it is a rarity where Pakistani drama viewers come across such dramas, therefore it also gives hope to viewers like us that we still have such skillful writers who can wow us with their creativity & imagination & bring us an award-winning content such as Kashf. Kashf will be remembered for a long long time for the story, characters, direction & most importantly award-winning performances. Kashf Foundation came into limelight for its work against taboo topics with Udaari. The foundation has again donned on the role to fight against the mental health stigma with up and coming mini series, “Akhri Station”.
Directed and produced by Sarmad Salman Khoosat, the series will star Sanam Saeed, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Sania Saeed among many. The entire series consisting of various topics has been written by Amna Mufti along with Asghar Nadeem Syed.
In an interview to the local publication, Sanam Saeed said that the stories in this series base on social issues. She further said:
“It’s a mini series that will be directed and produced by Sarmad Khoosat. The plot revolves around seven women who meet on a train… The mini series contains the story of each of those seven women.”
“My character’s story is based on handling mental health challenges and spreading awareness about depression.”
On the other hand, Mikaal Zulfiqar while talking about the project told:
“The cast also includes Sanam Saeed, Nimra Bucha, Anam Gohar and myself, along with a few new faces.”
Akhri Station is currently under the production phase and the release date and channel are yet to be decided.
Ohkay so, this episode of Kashf did not take the story forward but elaborated what was happening in Kashf’s life at the moment. There was also a lot of focus on her family members & the viewers were given an insight into what they all were going through & how they were dealing with the new ‘job’ that Kashf was doing. This episode was laden with emotional scenes which were actually quite overwhelming. The finesse with which the writer has captured the emotions & the director has elaborated them is commendable.
An Emotional Ride
Kashf is not settling for what Matiullah expects from her. It is good to see that in such dire circumstances where everything is against her, Kashf has put her footdown & is not budging. She has devised a plan in her head how she is going to approach all those people who are now putting their trust in her to find them the solution to their problems. Kashf has sorted one thing & that is she is not going to do anything wrong, she will always stick to the truth without worrying about the consequences, which is one of the strongest aspects of her personality. The way she speaks her version of the truth with so much confidence knows that no matter what happens, it won’t allow anyone to have control over her. This is the reason Matiullah was getting frustrated as he could see that he was unable to mend her ways & was failing at convincing her to do what he wanted her to.
In Kashf’s family, her father was over the moon & still has not given up on any hope because he knows this is just the beginning. Dilshad was doing her part & Ashi is just taking a break, just filling the shoes of Dilshad by staying at home & looking after everyone. Irum’s character has started to get more coverage & it is nice to see her being similar to Kashf in values & morality. Irum feels for her sister & the way she explained what Kashf is going through in order to earn the food that the entire family is eating showed how compassionate & considerate she is.
In the beginning of this episode, the way Fayyaz explained Imtiyaz’s character helped a great deal in understanding his ways with life & attitude towards his family in general. Imtiyaz has always scurried away from responsibilities & has always looked for shortcuts, this is why it didn’t take him long to commit to Matiullah & agree with what he wanted Kashf to do for him. Right after that conversation was over, my mind was taken to Zoya, it also made it very easy to draw a connection between Imtiyaz & Zoya because she definitely takes after her father; in selfishness & inconsideration. The overall change in Rashida’s attitude towards Wajdan as well as her acceptance for the love he has for Kashf is good to witness. Rashida’s character had a bitter start & not an ideal introduction but after she has realized her mistake, she is actually showing it to her son as well as the entire family that she is being sincere & is not putting up an act to please others. She genuinely realizes how wrong she was, therefore she has let go of her ego to accept her mistakes.
This episode of Kashf definitely had some of the best conversations heard in a drama in recent times. The conversation that Ashi & Dilshad had thinking about the future of the daughters was so emotional & heart-wrenching. These two women are battling the toughest circumstances, but instead of complaining, they have done their part in bringing a change in their lives. Yes, they do speak about how difficult life is but that’s their way of catharsis because being in the same boat, they not only feel for each other but understand the struggles as a team as well. Also, the moment that Kashf & Dilshad shared, having a meal & talking to each other about their routine, this time with a daughter feeding her mother the food with her hands, it was simply beautiful & showed how their hearts were connected.
Beautiful Conversations
Another beautiful conversation that left me in awe of Kashf’s character was the one she had with Qari Sahab, explaining the religiosity of her father with minute details & observations. It showed that although Imtiyaz has not been an ideal father to any of his daughters; Kashf still succeeded in picking up the good bits about him & because of that, he feels he deserves to be respected. The amount of love & kindness she had while speaking about Imtiyaz was beautiful. Another intricate detail that I noticed was how Qari Sahab did not pass any judgments on Matiullah’s ‘business’, in fact he defined what it was & agreed that Matiullah had all the right to label it as a business that he was doing. Amidst all that Kashf is facing, it is definitely nice to see how Qari Sahab is there to show her some guidance & help her out in these situations where she feels something is not right.
Waseem Abbas actually for a second made me feel for Imtiyaz. When Matiullah misbehaved with Imtiyaz, the change in his expressions went to show that he understood where Matiullah was coming from & because he was looking at the bigger picture, he understood this was not the time to go on bad terms with him. It did make me feel that Imtiyaz was a coward & because of that, he failed to project himself as someone who was worthy of respect. That sympathy did not last long because he knew he had to settle a score with Wajdan & he was the reason behind Matiullah’s poor behavior. Wajdan tried to help Kashf, obviously what she goes through is not of Imtiyaz’s concerns, this is why he failed to understand why Wajdan had to intervene & be there for Kashf.
It is definitely a big relief that Kashf is not misguiding people & in fact trying her best to make everyone come to terms with the fact that trials & tribulations are a part of life & serve a bigger purpose such as establishing a closeness to Allah. Kashf also continues to see the dreams related to Wajdan & Zoya, although she has pretty much accepted the fate but because she still has the love for Wajdan in her heart & whatever is related to him happens to be an important part of her life, she continues to see the dreams related to him only. Probably when she will move on & get an emotional closure, then she will have the space in her mind & heart to see the dreams not related to her, her sister Zoya or her fiance Wajdan.
So Far So Good
This episode of Kashf was definitely an emotional ride. It makes you feel for all the characters so much & the way they have been humanized, with all their strengths & weaknesses goes to show how much effort the writer has put in making their personalities complete. They all have their fair share of struggles but some deal with it selflessly whereas others are being openly selfish about it. Danish Nawaz definitely has been the best thing that has happened to this project because it is his direction that has elevated the level of this drama. Hira Mani, Junaid Khan, Hajra Khan, Munazzah Arif, Saleem Mairaj, Tania Hussain & Sabeena Farooq – all of them have played their part well. Waseem Abbas is a whole different story – his performance is definitely one of the best performances seen in a long time. So far so good. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Kashf.
Ohkay so, this was another interesting episode of Kashf like all the previous ones that have been aired so far. The story is building up & the progress is evident. Every single episode of Kashf has so much to offer & there’s a different tone to each set of issues that Kashf is shown to be facing. This time around, it was all about the pressures that Kashf was forced to succumb to from all the sides, especially after she saw her mother shattered & helpless.
Exploitation
The way writer Imran Nazeer has drawn a thin line between exploitation that women go through at the hands of dominating men as to the things they do out of their desire was phenomenal & well explained by the director Danish Nawaz. In the beginning of the episode, all the things Matiullah expected Ashi to do were shown to be such that any wife would expect from her husband like telling her to change into nice clothes or do makeup for him, but men like Matiullah make these sweet gestures filthy only because of their narcissistic approach towards their marital relationships & the urge to control their wives in the ugliest manner. They have already established the fact that Ashi & Matiullah’s relationship was bitter & unhealthy, therefore it was natural for her to not feel like needing to do anything that pleased him because she already knew it was not going to change anything – her husband was still going to mistreat & disrespect her.
The similar scenario was presented by showing Dilshad going to work to earn some money. There are strong women who do all of that single handedly for the sake of their children, but then again, this case was different because Dilshad had a husband who should’ve taken the responsibility but he chose not to. Therefore when Dilshad decided to do the heavy lifting, it made me feel for her a lot because it showed that despite being weak and vulnerable, she was at least trying & not giving up. All of this was enough for Kashf to assess that she too had to do something, if not for her father then at least for her mother, phupho as well as her sisters.
The Business Deal
The rest of the episode covered how Kashf agreed to be at Matiullah’s asthana because she had her version & perspective of how she was going to deal with the people who would come looking for the solutions to their problems. However, things turned out to be quite different because she was told that this is not how the things work. Throughout this episode, I couldn’t help but appreciate how honestly the writer has exposed how such asthanas are nothing but a business venture for those involved. It is a lucrative business & this is the reason, people go to any lengths to make the most of the vulnerabilities of the helpless. This drama has also exposed the fraction of the society who put their trust in people more than The One who has created them. It is a two-way thing & because there’s a demand for such solutions, people end up coming with their ways of supply!
Imtiyaz has already envisioning his dreams being materialized. He thinks he has hit the jackpot but eventually he will also learn that things are not going to be as smooth as Matiullah promised initially. Wajdan decided to meet Kashf at the asthana, I actually felt this will become a routine which will eventually be some kind of support for Kashf but after Matiullah inquired about Wajdan, it was obvious that he is going to prevent him from coming. Wajdan & Kashf’s only interaction in this episode was definitely my favorite. It showed how eager he was & also how clear Kashf was in her decisions too.
The dream that Kashf saw probably was enough to figure out that Wajdan was going to be around her, he might not be with her but they will still be connected. Unfortunately, at this stage, it is obvious that the dream that Kashf saw about Zoya & Wajdan will come true, this is why she has backtracked but there’s definitely more to this aspect of their lives. At this point, it is however nice to see Wajdan’s mother Rashida doing everything to make things right & get him married to Kashf. At least, she has realized her mistake & also acknowledges as well as accepts the love Wajdan has for Kashf.
The dialogues in particular in this episode were some of the best that I have heard in a while. The conversation that Wajdan & Zoya had with him indirectly seeing her as a Shaitaan & then in general speaking about how Satan keeps on whispering but it is upto the believer to not give up hope was brilliantly penned down by the writer. Another one of my favorite conversations was how Matiullah explained the rules of business to Kashf, which were enough to shake her. Last but definitely not the least, the conversation Kashf had with Allah when she prayed, acknowledging that all the powers belonged to Allah & it was only Him who could take care of the affairs of all those people who were putting their faith & trust in her. The way Kashf defined how weak & helpless she was was definitely my favorite moment of this episode.
Flawless Execution
Overall, this episode of Kashf was very convincing & strong. Although the drama has been directed phenomenally but I couldn’t help but notice the minute details which added so much more depth & dimension into every scene, such as Wajdan walking out of the kitchen with his back towards Zoya, in order to show that he was not too impressed with how she was trying to woo him. Another one was how Imtiyaz walked in his room hiding the packet of snacks that he grabbed on his way back from Asthana after he got some money from Matiullah in the morning. The scene of Ashi where she looked at Dilshad’s hands was very sweet & heartbreaking too. It is so refreshing to see all these women supporting one another. Dilshad will also eventually cave in after she will taste some financial ease but then it is Kashf who is ready to do what it takes to comfort her mother.
I hope the writer has written something good for Kashf in the end because a daughter like her deserves more than she could ever imagine. Direction of Kashf is spot on, this kind of script actually needed a specific sort of treatment & Danish Nawaz has taken it to another level with his vision. The actors are playing their part well & each one of them fits well into the roles assigned to them. My favorite performance definitely is of Waseem Abbas & then comes Hira Mani, who has been phenomenal as Kashf. This character seems to have been written with Hira Mani in mind & she has done complete justice to Kashf. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Kashf.
