Fawad Khan is a brilliant Pakistani television and film actor and a former vocalist of the famous old band EP. He rose to fame through his block buster serial Humsafar. He has also worked in Ashk and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Lately, Fawad Khan’s hit movie The Legend of Maula Jatt created a buzz. The movie was an international hit and all the actors were loved across the globe.

In the podcast, Excuse Me with Ahmed Ali Butt, Fawad Khan replied to the questions of Ahmed Ali Butt about the success and stardom of Pakistani actors in India. He also talked about Pakistani actors being a threat for Indian actors.

To the question, “were Pakistani actors a threat to Indian actors?” Fawad Khan said, “It is a difficult question because I got a lot of love from India, also, I think that politics is everywhere but you can combat it better in your own country. I am not saying that it is unheard of, but I am the one who urged my PR team in India to remove my name from the places and not to put me on the map. I am quite a different person. I don’t agree with the fact that if you have a huge following on social media, you are loved; I believe, if you are exclusive, you will be loved more”

In the show he also talked about fetching the famous Indian film Khoobsurat with Sonam Kapoor. Talking about it, he said, “Yes, I gave a screen test for Khoobsurat, obviously, it happened because of Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. I was open to grab that opportunity. I was not prepared for it, I just went with the flow. In all honesty, I was all open for any good opportunity that was coming my way. I enjoy the process of doing a project, if you enjoy the process the audience will see the project shining. I was not thinking about anything like Khoobsurat but I was just riding the waves. I really enjoyed working with the cast of Khoobsurat. It was a great experience. I have all positive things to talk about it.”

Talking about working in the film Kapoor and Sons, Fawad Khan said, “Kapoor and Sons was again very close project to my heart because of the same reason that the team was so good. Kapoor and Sons is a big film. Also, it offers you a great storytelling. I don’t get bored watching Kapoor and Sons, otherwise, I am the person who gets bored of watching his own projects”

Fawad Khan has a massive fan following in India. He is one of those very few Pakistanis who have gained so much popularity and earned respect from The Indian filmmakers and public alike. He is known for his talent and his real life personality both.

Fawad Khan’s fans in Pakistan have been unsure whether they will see him in a Pakistani project again sometime soon or not. Fawad Khan revealed something that will make his Pakistani fans very happy. In a recent interview he said that he has played the romantic, love struck hero roles back-to-back for too long now and he really wants to do something different in the future. He also said that he is very selective about the roles he plays because he only wants to opt for roles to which he can do justice. In an interview with an Indian reporter Fawad Khan said, “There is a project right now that we are working on back at home, it is a Pakistani film”. He also said that this film addresses his desire to play a different role.

About the offers from India he said, “As far as offers from here are concerned, there is nothing concrete as yet, it is just talks, things we are discussing. If there is something concrete, I will definitely let the audience know.” Fawad Khan also said that he doesn’t think that there will be any problems with the releasing of his film in Pakistan. “This film I am thinking would release quite easily”, said Fawad Khan.

Fawad Khan said that his overall journey in India till now has been “warm, courteous and very pleasant.”

Maula Jatt 2 is an upcoming action drama film, written and directed by Bilal Lashari, co-produced by Faisal Rafi and Bilal Lashari. It is a sequel to 1979 cult-classic Maula Jatt. The shooting of the film had started mid this year and the film is expected to hit the screens in 2017. The cast of the film includes Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Sanam Jung, Shamoom Abbasi and Adnan Jaffar.

There is not much revealed about the movie yet but it is confirmed that the film’s story will be all new unlike the first part but dialogues will be taken from 1979 film. The film will be in three languages English, Urdu and Punjabi. Fawad in the film will play the role of Maula Jatt while Hamza will play the role of Noori Nath. We wonder how the new and modern version of the roles maula Jatt and Noori Nath will look like. Hamza Ali Abbasi even did training to work on muscle symmetry, endurance and cardiovascular health. Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi who are usually seen in romantic, love struck hero roles will be seen in a totally different role and we’re sure it is going to be something to look forward to because Fawad is going to reprise the role of late legend Sultan Rahi!

Fawad Khan is considered a heart throb in Pakistan and across the border. He does not take many projects at one time but he makes sure he keeps on doing something continuously. He has signed some Pakistani films too and is busy nowadays shooting for one of these films. We have also heard that he has signed two Lollywood Films which he will most probably be doing with MD productions.

Fawad Khan is busy promoting his upcoming Bollywood film “Kapoor And Sons”. He has been giving a lot of interviews and making public appearances to bond with his audience. His fans, especially girls always go crazy whenever they get a chance to interact with him. In this interview Fawad Khan talked about this reaction he gets from girls and even women and how it makes him feel. He said that he feels honoured to have such fans but it is also something that makes him blush.

Fawad Khan also talked about why he decided to work in the film Kapoor and Sons. Talking about the intimacy issue he said,

“Intimacy is something new for Pakistani audience. People take their families to cinema and it will be difficult for them to explain to their kids what is going on. There are obviously some constraints and censorship laws are very different and that does sort of mould the mind of the audience.”

Fawad Khan said that he will kiss on screen but not for now because he feels that his core audience who have brought him to where he is today is not comfortable with that.

Fawad Khan took the Indian audiences by storm. Both his films, Khubsurat and Kapoor and Sons have been well-received. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, he shared how he feels about Pakistani actors working in Bollywood.

“I am happy, but I might just be a bit insecure, because I have been a mediocre representation of Pakistani talent. There is a wealth of talent back home. Seeing other Pakistani actors entering this market is a great feeling, and I wish them the very best in life. I think they will do much better than me.”

About Mahira and Saba Qamar stepping into the Bollywood industry, “I will be selfish to say, it is not an exciting time for me. I don’t differentiate between sexes. So, I feel they are as much of a competition to me [as any male actors].”

Fawad Khan admits that he is very selective about his projects. ”Honestly speaking, I am choosy. It’s (the process of film-making) time consuming, and I get tired very easily. I guess it’s the middle-class person in me who gets a little scared of all the flashlights and stardom. I am not in a hurry to reach anywhere; I am just enjoying the moment. If I was in hurry, I wouldn’t wait till 35. My policy is to work little, and to enjoy life.”

There have been rumours about Fawad Khan being a part of Salman Khan’s film, Jugalbandi. Fawad Khan doesn’t give a definite reply. ”I really can’t comment on that right now. Let’s just say that we have been in talks with a lot of people, maybe Jugalbandi is one of them. Nothing is concrete right now. Besides, I don’t like talking about anything until I haven’t penned it down on a piece of paper. When we are ready to make a public announcement, we will. As of now, we aren’t associated with anything.”

Fawad Khan, the superstar of our country is working in a film ‘Khoobsorat’ across the border in India. The film is under production from last year and Fawad Khan is absent from all Pakistani productions to complete the shooting of this film.

As per Urdu Weekly, Akhbar-e-Jehan, the film ‘Khoobsorat’ will be released on 19th September 2014. Fawad is widely popular and followed in Pakistan, so it will be interesting to see the response of this film in India i.e. the actual market the film is made for.

Anti Pakistan sentiments are on quite high side in India these days. Following the government policy of alienating Pakistan in every possible way, different private and political entities are announcing limited or permanent bans on Pakistanis nationals wherever possible. Pakistani sports persons were informally banned from 2008, so the other major area left now is arts.

Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) announced a formal ban on casting any Pakistani artists in any future project.  However it relieved the projects which are already completed. Two major films Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Fawad Khan in a cameo and Raees starring Mahira Khan in the lead role are the two mostly discussed projects in this regard.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is releasing on Diwali weekend on 28th October 2016, the producer cannot replace the Fawad Khan role with another artist due to limited time. Still the producer Karan Johar is perhaps thinking on some alternate strategy to minimize the impacts of Fawad Khan’s tiny presence in the film.

Pakistani fans are not too happy with Fawad Khan working in Bollywood. His film is facing backlash in India as well. There have been calls of bans once again. He cannot go to India for promotions. This has made Pakistani fans angry. They want to see him in mainstream Pakistani projects with A listers here than going to India and working with people who are not as big as him. Netizens are saying that he has an ‘Inferiority complex’. One said, ‘He will not work here with Ayeza and Mehwish but he will go to India to work with Vaani’. This is what the internet is thinking:

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which released on Oct 28th could hardly manage to get a safe release and that too after Karan Johar paid INR 5 crores for a safe release and issued a video, stating he will not cast any Pakistani artist in the future. The film was caught up into controversies due to Fawad Khan’s cameo in it and Karan Johar paid a high price for it. Recently a video of all the deleted scenes of ADHM leaked online, which included a scene of Fawad and Anushka. Editing is always a necessary part to be done and most of the time many of the scenes are edited out to cut short the film’s length.

There still are loads of speculations of Fawad Khan’s cameo being cut short in the film. In an interview with FirstPost Karan Johar said, “When people say that I find it so silly. His exact screen time is nine minutes, but even if he was there for 15, the protests would not have been any less. [Laughs] I didn’t cut his role. This is all he was meant to do in the film.”

India Today spoke to Ratna Pathak Shah about Pakistan’s heartthrob Fawad Khan. She’s more commonly known as Fawad Khan’s Bollywood mother as she played the role of Yuvraj Vikram Singh Rathore (Fawad Khan)‘s mother in his hit Bollywood movie, Khoobsurat and also the mother of Rahul Kapoor (Fawad Khan) in Kapoor & Sons.

One might thing that after playing Fawad’s mother in both of his Bollywood films, she might have developed a soft corner for her on-screen son but we are here to tell you that those motherly feelings have not found their way into Ratna’s heart.

When asked about her opinion on Fawad not being able to play more roles in Bollywood due to the circumstances in her Homeland, the actress gave a rather disappointing answer; one that hasn’t earned her any points from Fawad’s Indian and Pakistani fans:

“It is a problem but it’s not an insurmountable problem. Nobody is happy that these poor guys have been thrown out of business.”

We doubt that even her fellow Indian artists are happy about her above statement. Afterall, it’s downright disrespectful to say something like that about another artist.

Ratna however finally gave a somewhat sensible answer when asked about the on-going issue of banning Pakistani artists in India:

“I think it’s a limited and a silly vision to have. I would like to see much more participation across nations in arts.”

Although she didn’t say anything about bringing Pakistani artists back in her country for work, she did accept how important talent and art is for the Indian Entertainment Industry.

“Art is one area where we can make connections. We can hear different stores, we can look at the world with fresh eyes.”

I think she deliberately avoided the usage of the words “open mind” and “clean heart”. What do you guys think about her statements?

Also, if Indians don’t recognize what a talent Fawad is, it is good to know Pakistan does. He is always welcomed with open arms in his motherland.

Fawad Khan also went through a huge backlash when he did not openly criticize India during the whole period. His co-star Vani Kapoor deleted all the pictures with him. There is an update now about Abir Gulaal after Hania Aamir’s Sardar Ji 3 and Imran Ashraf’s Enna Nu Rehan Sehna Ni Aaunda are being released.

A new update is in. The film will finally be released. Reportedly Abir Gulaal has been renamed as Aabeer Gulaal. It will be released like Sardaar Ji 3 all over the world except India. The film will hit the theatres on 29th August 2025. This is good news for Fawad Khan who had already wrapped up his film and was busy promoting it internationally.
