Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Episode 01

The story began with a make-believe happiness in terms of two cousins getting married but as the scenarios progressed, so many negative strings attached to the whole wedding were revealed. During the course of the drama, I felt I could see some similarity of the situations with those of ‘Meri Zaat Zarra – e – Benishaan’s‘. It was a girl back then who suffered the embarrassment & got abandoned but this time, it’s a guy who is facing the consequences & has become an outcast within his own family.

Seems like Shakeel has his sympathies with Narmeen, who happens to be his sister’s daughter as well. Even though much wasn’t revealed but it was quite figurable that Arham & Narmeen have been in some sort of an uneasy situation in the past, which has resulted in Arham’s introversion & isolation. Arham claims that what his family saw was a mere illusion & nothing else where as Shakeel – his father believes in the opposite.

Narmeen, at first seemed to be like a real nice person who was being understanding towards her husband & how he felt. By their conversation, it seemed that Shahid was unwilling to get married but agreed because of some pressures he might have gone through. Shahid has just extended some social & marital security that Narmeen wished for. Narmeen may be over the moon by getting married to Shahid but sadly the feelings aren’t mutual. Even though Saman asked Narmeen to act like an elder & let go of the past but seems like she is doing the opposite. It did come as a shock when Narmeen out of the blue started adding fuel to the fire & maligned Shakeel’s feelings more towards Arham, knowing that he has not come to terms with what happened before. Shahid actually tried to stop her but seems like she has a strong symapthy card which she wants to play every single time. Being a bahu, she should act appropriately by just keeping in mind how nice the whole family is & how considerate they are towards her but seems like she is there to divide everyone.

Areeba, who’s a daughter of Shakeel’s friend has come to stay with them but apparently she is going to bring Arham out of his misery. Out of all the people, she will understand him & make him realise that just wasting his life crying over spilt milk won’t do any good to him or his family. Arham’s mother & sister are seen supportive & at some point they do not believe at what has happened but are too skeptical in speaking against the reality that everybody else believes in. Areeba’s coming over to stay at their place reminded me of the Hindi Movie ‘Meinne Pyaar Kiya’ where the female protagonist comes over to stay at Salman Khan’s place & then falls in love. It was just a similarity that surfaced in my mind but I am sure Arham-Areeba’s story has more to it.

All the characters for now appear to be quiet real & the direction seemed to the point. I am kind of excited to see Ayesha Khan in a partially negative role, at least it’s like breaking a monotony of always being a victim. In the whole episode there weren’t any scenes which seemed dragged but rather they succeeded in building the curiosity about the certain circumstances which will unveil eventually. The drama has kicked-off really well & I hope there stays the exact reality which they have managed to portray at the beginning of the drama.

14 August 2013 – Where Do We Stand?

0

When Pakistan was created, Quaid-e-Azam set out some guidelines for the Pakistanis to follow, these guidelines or main principles were unity, faith and discipline. Unity meant That we will all stay united through the toughest times especially because Pakistan’s creation could not have been possible without this union of the Indian Muslims and also because Quaid-e-Azam knew that like any other nation-state Pakistanis were going to face many hardships also. These difficulties no matter of what magnitude would be much easier to resolve if we all stayed united. Unfortunately, this first teaching of the Quaid has been left behind. Today, most Pakistanis identify themselves on the basis of the territory that they reside in. Provincial identities are more important than a national identity. But are people really at fault? Most certainly not. The wrong policies of many governments as well as preferential treatment given to some provinces by the governments in power left people with a feeling of deprivation. Other than that the provincial leaders highlight these issues further and as a result people start associating with provincial leaders more than national leaders.

pak

Dearth of good leadership has also added to the problem. Pakistan has not been able to find its own national identity not because of different cultures or languages but due to the lack of good leadership. All these people who are disintegrated now were once united for the cause of Pakistan only because they had great leaders to guide them.

The other aspect of the principle of faith is to have faith in our own capabilities. Which would mean that we should rely on our own strengths.

pakistan 4

Faith is the other pillar on which the Quaid-e-Azam thought we may have to rely on in order to move forward. Faith means our religion Islam which makes us one, which should technically be the common ground that brings all of us together. Pakistan was made in the name of Islam, so that the Muslims of India could freely visit their worship places and profess their religion but thousands are killed even today in the name of religion.

pakistan 2

Discipline can change the fate of nations if gets engraved in their national culture. We blame the governmental policies for everything but if we take a good look at ourselves, we will see that unfortunately most of the people lack the honesty needed to do their own respective jobs. Coming to schools and workplaces late is a norm in our country, so much so that even those people who are in a habit of coming early feel like they are doing something that is not needed or appreciated. Adding discipline to our lives can change the environment in our workplaces and also the quality of work.

pakistan 3

Sadly, we have left the guidelines given to us by the Quaid-e-Azam and other leaders like Allama Iqbal behind. We have forgotten that thousands of people sacrificed their lives in order to get this home land. What can we do to make a difference? I think w e can all make a difference by doing the tasks assigned to us properly. if every Pakistani whether he is a sweeper or a director starts doing his work with honesty. If we stop giving jobs on the basis of sifarish and rishwat but let the people who truly deserve these posts come on the forefront, a great deal can change.

pakistan

Last but not the least, the government’s top priority should be to come up with a proper guideline to counter terrorism because gradually it is taking over the lives of more and more citizens. The situation is such that people are forced to migrate from their home towns. Thousands of lives are lost every month but no one is punished for taking those lives.

What do you think we can do to make a difference? What do you think is the need of the hour?

Happy Independence Day to all the Pakistanis – do you think is it time to celebrate or is it time to reflect upon where we went wrong in all these years?

Pakistan Zindabad, May Allah grant patience to all those who have lost their loved ones because of terrorism. May He direct our leaders and people on the right path.

Khuda kary ky mere Arz e Pak par utry
Woh fasl e gul jisy andesha e zawal na ho

Mere Humrahi Episode 1 – Ditched At The Altar!

0

What caught my attention towards this show in the first place were the unique promos and the different storyline. I was personally sick of reviewing shows revolving around second marriages, gender discrimination, extra-marital affairs and many other concepts like those which we see in every other show nowadays.

photo(22)

This show did prove to be different from the rest and was indeed a breath of fresh air for me. It started off with the wedding preparations of Haaniyah (Soniya Hussain) and Ahad (Shehzaad Sheikh). Everyone seemed busy and excited about the wedding except one person; Ahad himself.

photo(17)

Ahad is the younger of the two brothers in the family. He happens to be spoilt one in the family and also a tad bit stubborn and immature, who has not been given any responsibility all his life. One day before his marriage to Haaniyah, he starts getting second thoughts about his marriage and gets the pre-wedding jitters. He suddenly realizes that he is not ready to take up such a big responsibility at such a young age as he wants to ‘enjoy’ his life at this stage like his friends.

photo(18)

Ahmed (Fahad Mustafa) is just the opposite of his younger brother. He is more mature, soft spoken and well-mannered. He happens to be the ‘perfect gentleman’ from what I could make out from the one scene he had in the episode. Since this episode was more focused on Haaniyah and Ahad’s wedding, we barely saw him. I am surely looking forward to seeing more of his scenes in the show.

photo(19)

Haaniyah is also the youngest in the family and is loved by everyone. I truly loved her equation with her elder brother Ahsan (Khalid Malik) who seems to be teasing her all the time. Her character happens to be full of life and she seemed extremely excited and happy about her marriage to Ahad. She happens to be madly and irrevocably in love with him even though Ahad gets a bit rude to her at times, she never minds anything. She seems to be living her dream until Ahad comes and bursts her bubble.

photo(20)

Ahad is the kind of person who loves himself more than anything else and has a careless attitude towards life. Without thinking about Haaniyah, he decided to break up with her the night before the wedding and left the poor girl in a hysterical state. I cannot believe he actually expected her to understand his feelings! After hearing his friend’s views about marriage, he got cold feet and was convinced that he had made a mistake in the first place by agreeing to get married to Haaniyah. And even though he loved her, he did not want to get married to her because he was not ready. Well, you should have thought that before agreeing to get married Ahad! Plus all the blame went on Haaniyah’s head as she apparently forced him for marriage. It was pretty evident that it was a mutual decision to get married and nobody forced him in the first place. He just needed a reason to break up.

photo(21)

The rain scene where Ahad informs Haaniyah of his decision was brilliantly directed and executed. It was different from what we usually see in dramas. I would say it had a filmy touch to it, which made it more appealing to watch. The scene was emotionally loaded and both Soniya and Shehzaad performed splendidly. I found Soniya a tad bit over the top but overall the scene was perfect. If a girl gets ditched by her fiancé the night before her wedding, then I am sure she would be hysterical just like it was shown.

From the promos, we all know what is next and I am desperately looking forward to the next track. The preview for the next episode shows Haaniyah’s reaction to the news. I would rate this episode 3 out of 5.

‘Josh’ –Some Elements Missing! Movie review

0

The most anticipated Pakistani movie Josh which was released this Eid, is still now in cinemas and as shared before, it was only today that I, along with my family watch the movie and it is really a critical point to define it as either a success or a failure. Receiving a tough competition from the Bollywood release ‘Chennai  Express’ within the country,  most of the audience who is making its way towards Josh to support the local content has gotten all its answers that why is Josh still somewhere far behind the ratings of Chennai Express.

Untitled

The promos of the movie spread a different idea where the audience hoped to see something related to the concept of freedom in general. However the movie has its own meaning of freedom in the movie. Let us first discuss its plot in detail.

1097983_613693895330264_1157869757_n

The story as shared in my previous predicted reviews, is about a girl Fatima (Aamina Sheikh) who lives with her father(Khalid Ahmed) and beloved nanny (Naila  Ali),enjoying  a high profile living. Being in love deeply with her artist friend Adil, she is in general a humble and sweet girl who feels s for the suffering ones. Her Nanny, Nusrat Bi belongs to a rural tribe which was been ruled by a politician ‘Khan’ (Qaisar Khan) who govern the basti, called ‘Khuda Ki Basti’ completely. Nusrat’s family is the one who actually serves food to the orphan children of the basti and is hated by the feudalist Khan. Nusrat Bi takes a leave from her work to help her brother who stole wheat from khan’s reservoirs. Ahmed though escapes once Khan gets to know about it, but Nusrat becomes a victim of him and is been raped brutally and killed afterwards.

images (9)

When she didn’t return, Fatima visits her house and finds her dead body lying in front of her.  People of the basti, though tried to hide the truth but soon she gets to know about it when she decides to continue Nusrat’s services by feeding orphans. Khan, who wanted to be their god again finds Fatima as an interruption and his people kidnaps her when people started supporting her against the move. Ahmed then tries to get her free and in the darkness of night, his gunman kills Khan’s own son.

The movie ends only here showing Khan to be arrested by the police and the free food service turns into a hotel.

Yes, this is it all! Let me just quickly share the strong points and the weak ones here.

Strong points

Flawless acting by all the characters

Beautifully directed

High quality graphics

Good music

Well-written dialogues

Weak Points

The plot could have been better

All the actors are known for being the drama faces. Seemed more like a HUM TV drama!

Overall maintained a slow pace!

Abrupt ending! Abrupt indeed!

It is yet hard to pass any comment over its business because what I have been keeping in view is the crowd which I experienced in the cinema. Though Chennai express seems to enjoy 6 times more business than Josh, Josh still has its patriotic touch.

Azaadi Manao sirf DO rupay main!

Josh Movie Private Premiere Pictures!

0

The movie which is striving really hard to give a tough competition to the Bollywood and Hollywood releases in the country as a standalone Pakistani movie is attracting more audience day by day. Josh is a movie which reveals all about the lives of people who live in rural areas of Pakistan and are under a great pressure of feudalism. The cast of the movie is further motivating the Pakistani drama lovers to see actors like Amina Sheikh,  Mohib Mirza, Naila Ali and Naveen Waqar on big screen.

The film’s private premiere early in August was a successful event in Karachi where many celebrities showed up to support the movie at Atrium Mall-Karachi.

Here are a few snaps been taken, have a look!

Mathira and Meera – Not The Best Choice!

0

If given an option, would Meera and Mathira be your top choices for celebrities you want to spend your Eid with? If the reply of most of the readers is in negative then I wonder why our Morning Show hosts in particular are convinced that it is important to invite such controversial AND unbearable celebrities or more like attention seekers to shows in order to get the attention of the public. The viewers were not spared even during Ramazan and now on Eid day also it is almost as if there is a competition between Morning Shows hosts as to who can bag these celebrities first.

mathira02

Isn’t it sad that our television industry is full of talented and decent people but our Morning Show hosts never make the effort to call them on their shows so that people can enjoy quality entertainment on Eid? On the contrary, they resort to short cuts in order to get the attention of the public. They know that there are many viewers who will get amused by Mathira’s and Meera’s cheapness and some more will watch it out of curiosity; in short it will serve the purpose so why put in extra effort to call some decent, intelligent and not to mention more talented people to the show.

samaa12-001

Some of these Morning Show hosts appear to play second fiddle in their own shows while these over the top and strange women take over their shows. They may get attention for all the wrong reasons but all they want is attention, it doesn’t matter whether it is positive or negative.
The norm now is that the louder and most controversial an Eid show is, more people will be attracted to it. I am certain that there are many intelligent viewers who do not jump at the prospect of watching Mathira, Meera and the likes in Eid special shows. Does the presence of such guests show the mentality of the Morning Show organizers or does it prove that most viewers are hypocrites; they may criticize such controversial celebrities but the fact is that they actually want to see them. Because if these celebrities were so unpopular why would there be virtually a race between Morning Show hosts to get hold of them.

I have read the views of many viewers on different forums and I am very convinced that people just want celebrities/attention seekers like Mathira to “disappear’! But then when these celebrities appear on every second show especially special shows like Ramazan special and Eid specials , I wonder if the channels are cashing in on all the “popularity” which these women have among public. You know the urdu saying “Badnam hun gaye tu kya naam na ho ga”. Is that really the case? Are Mathira, Meera and others like them invited to shows because they actually get the channels the TRPs they want?

Aunn Zara Episode 08 – Head Over Heels.

0

So, it was more like a musical that echoed pleasantly in our ears. Everyone channeled out their feelings through melodies. A few were amazing but the others were innocently hideous. Haha!

Before saying anything, I must say I am enjoying everyone’s time to time ‘kiyafay’ about Zara & her health. Aunn Zara both are in their very early stages of falling in love where you just smile to yourself & as a recorded history you lose you appetite, you take those timely glances that make your heart flutter & those little gestures that can make your heart skip a beat. That growing longing for each other that they portrayed was adorable. It was so much like a typical newly wedded couple where one of them wants to spend sometime with the spouse & the other is hesitant as they’re too engaged in the huge family chores. What makes it more interesting is Zara being unaware about what sort of messages even her expression send to her in-laws, haha!

In the middle of all these events Aunn definitely found peace after he blurted everything out in front of Manzar. I guess Aunn should know that he can not completely rely on Manzar’s intelligence because he skips some common sense at times too, lol! His song list was amazing I must say.

I find the idea of sooooo many ladies sharing such a strong & nice bond as a breath of fresh air. Each one of them pays utmost attention to the other & all the arguments are solely seen where someone is convincing the other. Husna & Daadi have such a nice relation & Zara is enjoying the benefits of their healthy relation too. Husna is equally caring towards Zara because she herself found a nice ‘saas’.

Zara wanted to celebrate the wedding anniversary but even though Daadi knew how Husna would feel, she tried to talk Husna into it because she knew Zara meant something good & expected the whole family to have a good time. Husna’s sacrifice means a lot where she put her ‘bahu’s’ feelings ahead of her own & subtly enjoyed the eve of her anniversary.

Aunn’s songs were so funny & what’s funnier was that he actually sang those songs thinking he’d prove a point to Zara. He’d be able to convey his feelings to her. Zara, obviously was too excited about her own little party plan that she didn’t bother paying a heed to him. His ‘kabhi kabhi mere dil mai’ was a decent choice of a song but again couldn’t help him convey his feelings. I loveeed how he sang it. lol!

Finally, Zara has admitted falling in love with him too which is equally sweet. This episode focused more on their growing feelings towards each other which I thoroughly enjoyed & obviously felt that it ended too quickly. Can’t wait to see more of their chemistry & how they put their egos aside & confess how madly they have started to fall in love with each other. Can’t wait to see more of their love roller-coaster.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 17 – Zayaan’s True Feelings Revealed!

0

With each passing episode, Zayaan is getting more and more on my nerves. His unreasonable attitude is unbearable to watch at times. We have got more insight into his feelings this week though. I was correct in my assumption that he is behaving like this because he considers Maryam imperfect now. His first thought at seeing Maryam in the hospital, “Ab Tum Who Maryam Nahi Jis Se Meine Shaadi Ki Thi” said it all! According to Zayaan, Maryam is no longer the ideal life partner that he had in mind.

photo(15)

Maryam finally complained to Zayaan about his absence during her operation and that all she wanted were a few words of consolation from him. My heart went out to her in this scene. She is still unaware of the reason behind his changed feelings and I wonder how she would feel or react when she would get to know them! She does sense that Zayaan has changed and is trying to avoid her but she does not know why.

Faiza carried on her charade of being a kind person and a true friend by going to the hospital to meet Maryam. Maryam was very happy to see her there, but for some reason Zayaan got annoyed by her presence. Maybe because he did not want Faiza to see Maryam in this state, he did not want her to see that Maryam is not perfect anymore.

As expected, Afshah and Nusrat did not even bother to go to the hospital to meet Maryam. Even when Faiza asked Afshah to come with her, she clearly refused. And the way Nusrat asked Maryam ‘Tum Theek Hogaee’ when she came home was just plain rude. I cannot believe Afshah and Nusrat are still planning to get Faiza and Zayaan married! After seeing the closeness between the two, they started planning again. When will they both stop trying!

photo(14)

Faiza has officially become Zayaan’s mentor now. He only shares his feelings with her and takes her advice. I was a bit shocked though when she told Zayaan to treat Maryam well after she comes home as she needs more love and care at this stage. It is true that Maryam will get hurt if she ever gets to know what Zayaan has in his mind. He is clearly regretting his decision to marry Maryam in the first place. This was very obvious in the scene where Maryam recalls how desperate Zayaan was to marry her and he says ‘Shayad Yehi Kismat Mein Tha’

photo(13)

Maryam wanted to make Zayaan happy and be close by his side and this is the reason why she refused to go home with Tasneem. She wanted to go back to her house with Zayaan to win his approval but Zayaan was least bothered about this. He is even more indifferent now than before. Maryam’s future seems very bleak in Zayaan’s house.

One thing that completely grossed me out was all the maid scenes. The maid track was completely unnecessary and I do not know what the writer was thinking when she added this track. Noori’s obsession with Zayaan was totally disgusting and these scenes annoyed me to no end. I hope they kick out Noori soon. I really do not feel like watching anymore of this track.

Faysal Qureshi has played Zayaan’s character to perfection. He has portrayed Zayaan’s feelings so well and has completely molded in his character. Ayeza also stands out with her brilliant acting in this show ans she surely deserves a round of applause for her performance.

Zayaan’s is getting away from Maryam and closer to Faiza now. I am really curious to know what will happen next! Will he marry Faiza now?

Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakhti Episode 7 & 8 – The Confrontation and Apology!

The latest installment of this show was full of drama, laughter and much more. We finally saw the confrontation between the Barood and Bhatts this week. Initially, they were pretty much enjoying each other’s company until Dadi Jaan made her dramatic entry. I felt pretty bad for the whole Bhatt family when Dadi insulted them so badly! She should not have called them words like ‘low standard’ and ‘low class’, that was pretty rude of Dadi Jaan. After that, there was no way Badi Ammi was going to do rishta with their family and this left both Alishba and Sikander helpless once again. photo(8)

Alishba and Sikander both lost hope for a while but then they were back again with a bang! They resorted to the oldest trick in the book: blackmailing. When nothing else works, this formula always works. Alishba blackmailed her parent by faking suicide, desperate times call for desperate measures! She finally made her father agree to go and apologize to Sikander’s family. One thing I find unbearable in this show is Amber’s overacting. She truly needs to learn how to act! Her overreaction to Alishba’s ‘suicide’ news was just too much to bear. The best part of this ‘suicide’ fiasco was Alishba’s treatment with Ahmed Nafees, she was so angry at him that she literally wanted to claw his face out! The poor guy got scared seeing this new side of her and went running to his mother and Nani.

photo(9)

Sikander also resorted to emotional blackmail to end Badi Ammi’s anger towards him. Mohib’s overacting in this scene was hard to digest! She finally did agree to the marriage when Alishba came with her parents to apologize to her for Dadi’s behavior. It was not easy though, initially she was furious to see them in her house and told them to leave immediately but it was Sikander’s mother  who finally spoke up this time. Sikander’s mother was quiet all this time because she felt indebted to the Bhatts for supporting them after Sikander’s father’s death. But when Sikander told her that she was sacrificing his happiness in the process, she spoke up against Badi Ammi for the first time. When Badi Ammi saw how much Alishba and Sikander loved each other, she finally agreed to the marriage but she also clearly said that she did not want to keep any relation with Alishba’s family. Well, at least she agreed to the marriage!

photo(10)

Now came the task of informing Dadi Jaan about Sikander’s and Alishba’s marriage, and this time Dada Jaan did not let Dadi Jaan or Durre have their way. He made it clear that Alishba will get married to Sikander whether they agree or not. Dada Jaan’s character is one of my favorite ones in the show. He might be half deaf but he can definitely speak up when needed. When Zahid came to apologize to his mother and to give an invitation for the ‘Haan’ function, Dada Jaan gave the final verdict that everybody will go to the function for Alishba’s sake. Now the question is, will Dadi Jaan really go to the function? I really hope so.

photo(7)

Baddi Ammi might have agreed to the marriage but not wholeheartedly. She refused to attend the ‘Haan’ function as she did not want to confront Dadi Jaan again. Sikander’s mother told her not to repeat the mistake she made years ago with her own son because by the time she realized her mistake, it was just too late. When Badi Ammi still did not melt and insisted on going back to Lahore, Sikander and Chachu created another drama to make her agree. That drama was a little hard to digest though. How did Badi Ammi ever fall for that drama is just beyond me.

Hamza was not seen much this week and I definitely missed him. I really loved the scene between him and Haniya though. It looks like Haniya is finally melting towards him and since she is thinking of ending her engagement with Saif, Hamza might have a chance now.

Now let’s see if Dadi Jaana and Badi Ammi make their appearance at the ‘Haan’ function!

Till Next Week!

Few Things To Remember On Eid

0

Eid is just around the corner. I am sure that everyone is done with their Eid shopping and other preparations by now. It always makes me a little sad when the month of Ramadan is drawing to a close because there are so many of us who normally do not follow the teachings of Islam all through the year except in this month. In my opinion while we are all busy with the festivities of Eid, there are a few things which we should not forget.

e1The spirit of Islam should continue even after the end of the Holy month

The holy month of Ramadan gives us few very valuable lessons. Firstly, that our lives should be dedicated and centered around our religion. Secondly and most importantly there is pleasure in giving. All through Ramadan we try to help out as many people as we can but why only in Ramadan. Why not continue helping others, not just financially but in any way we can all through the year and especially on Eid. The most important thing to remember this Eid is that we must not forget to be generous. Sharing and giving is what can make this occasion more memorable and special, not just for us but also for those who do not have as much resources as many of us.

Don’t forget that we are all equal in the eyes of God

Ramadan teaches us the lesson that we are all equal in the eyes of God. All Muslims, whether they are rich or poor, young or old, live in Europe or Middle East, all of them have the same rituals during Ramadan. We must remember that all teaching of Islam basically try to teach us that we are all equal in the eyes of God. Never look down upon anyone because of their social status.

e3Making someone smile can be the biggest gift not just for the other person but also yourself

Try to make someone happy even if you have to go out of your way to do so. Making children happy in particular can be s o rewarding, that is something I know from personal experience. If you can’t do something grand, do something small like buy a big pack of sweets and distribute it among children who cross your path on Eid , especially the ones who cannot afford to buy these goodies. A smile on their face will make your day.

Eid is a wonderful time to make up with people you may have fought with or are not talking to

Forgive those who may have wronged you. If you are at fault then there is no better time to ask for forgiveness than on Eid. It will only make your day even better. You may just win a friend or a family member back this Eid only by making the first move so go ahead:)

Unfortunately, there are many of us who think that when Ramadan ends it is time to move on but it is not so. We wish our readers a very Happy Eid, spend time with your friends and families, have a lot of fun but please don’t forget those people who are less fortunate.

May Allah bless all of you and your families on this Eid and all through the year. Ameen.

Housefull for Bollywood movie ‘Chennai Express’ in Pakistan!

0

Previously banned movie in Pakistan, ‘Chennai Express’ has now made a clean sweep this Eid in almost all cinema houses where the tickets are already been sold of every slot been allotted to the movie. Starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika, the movie is a comedy-love story which reflects the odour of Chennai, a city of India. The movie’s release was said to be banned within the country this Eid to support the local business which is linked to the two movies(previously four) which are also making their way to the big screen on the first day of Eid.

nd4

When we shared the news and conducted a survey on our social media fan page, it was interesting to read the comments of the readers who said that they would be supporting the Pakistani movie Josh and highly condemn the airing of an Indian movie on Eid but just like all other predictions, even the reviews differed with the results. Some of the readers also said that Eid is a holy day and one should celebrate it with family rather than going to cinemas and watching movies, but it is interesting to see that all the seats are now reserved and there are many for sure who are now in the waiting list or holding on their breaths to grab their ticket for the new slots of new dates the cinemas will next announce.

Untitled

Amina Sheikh’s Josh is still far behind in terms of business as compared to the Indian movie so those of you who are planning to support the local content should get your hands on your ticket as it is,  Chennai Express is no more available for the latecomers!

New trend of Ramadan shows is Haraam-Fatwa passed

0

Previously cherished cherish holy month of Ramadan is now nothing more but an attempt to to secure more TRPs for the private channels which is really a significant aspect one should think about. Now that the month has reached its end, it has been heard that the religious scholars have passed a Fatwa that all such so-called religious programs are causing harm to the actual idea of Ramadan and have declared them Haraam.

Its is important to state that there is nothing new this year only but an extension has been seen to the past few years’ celebrations. We have been sharing or rather criticizing over the issue and here is what the scholars have to say about it.

Have a look!

IMG_52204268758020

It seems like now that Aamir Liaquat has been known well by the people for his previous Ghalib video which earned him hatred of people who are truly following the teachings of Islam, he is now enjoying to be a real smart one out by playing with a holy theme. It is not only Geo TV this year but all the private channels who have tried their level best to improve their ratings.

Now that even a panel of scholars have even passed a Fatwa about it, let us see how things turn out to be next year but there is one thing for sure that such acts are really something Muslims should condemn. Ramadan is a month to worship your  Lord and purifying your soul from evil thoughts and deeds and not something where Muslims should be attending shows to grab their hands on a piece of branded cloth or Q-Mobile.

Kadurat Episode 04 – Engaging and Entertaining

0

This latest installment of Kadurat was just as happening as the last three. The story definitely has newness and the treatment given to it is A-grade. Sanam Saeed looks terrific and fits in perfectly in a character that can’t be easy to perform. In the last episode Mina was shown as a scared and insecure girl who felt alienated in her own house. But, today’s episode went to prove that Mina’s character will have a lot of surprises in store for the viewers. Another good thing about the play is that each character is being revealed to us gradually. Apart from finding out that Mina is quite capable of making her family’s life a living hell all on her own; we also discovered that there is a reason why Alina is so scared of Mina.

k1

Alina’s conversation with Daniyal in which she mentions that Mina has always taken away from her all that was dear to her went to show that Mina has always been this way with Alina. This means that she must have been visiting regularly while she was away at the hostel. All the conversations between the different characters were very well thought out and to the point. The screenplay definitely offers a few surprises because personally as a viewer I wasn’t expecting Mina to get “comfortable” this soon.

k2

Mahmood’s conversation with the psychiatrist was also a very important scene which explained Mina’s behavior as well as Mina’s irregular visits to the psychiatrist and how she can be “cured”. When the doctor suggested to Mahmood that Mina needs a lot of love and care, I couldn’t help but think that maybe it was too late for that even! She has been living with the bitterness for far too long and also she had a scarred childhood. Yes, she is a grown up now and really should know better. But, the fact is that Mina is sick and unless her sickness is cured, her attitude will not get better.

k3Asad’s confidence was seriously shattered by the latest developments and I found his mother’s attitude rather odd. Even after everything that has transpired, she is not taking the matter seriously. She brushed off the Mina giving her milk incident aside without giving it a second thought. I think the viewers must be convinced by now that Mina indeed is a serious threat to the family.

k5The best scene of today’s episode had to be the one in which Mina tries to push Alina down the staircase. The timing was just perfect; it had been shot and acted out to perfection. The director and the actors deserve big thumbs up for that scene in particular. The editors of the play deserve special appreciation for the crisp editing which is one of the reasons that each episode keeps you glued to your seat.

k4Zoha Hassan has really amazed me with her script till now. The reason being that the story is brand new and also because the screenplay is very engaing. Although, the viewer’s have been watching Mina’s negative attitude right from the first episode but the things she does are very unpredictable. I did not expect her to go as far as giving all of Alina’s precious jewelry including her necklace which she treasured so much to the maid but I guess we should expect the unexpected from Mina from now on. A part of me was on the fence regarding the storyline because the entire “taking the revenge” can get boring but it surely isn’t the case till now.

k6

Every play is a success or a failure based on team effort and Kadurat till now has proved to be a splendid example of great team effort. The writer has come up with a novel script since every second play revolves around married life and its complications. The director Aabis Raza has surely outdone himself, I cannot praise him enough. The editing team has done a better job than the editing team of many other more popular plays. All the actors are at their best in Kadurat and their portrayals are flawless. I know Kadurat has only four episodes to its credit but the fact that the story has a good pace helps you judge the overall storyline better. In today’s episode Momal Sheikh was just as brilliant as Sanam Saeed. Overall, this was a very engaging episode and the preview for the next episode made me look forward to more.

Did you watch this latest installment? Please share your views about it.

Waar movie will now release in October!

0

Much awaited Pakistani movie ‘Waar’ will too not be releasing this Eid according to the latest news just like  the release of ‘Main hoon  Shahid Afridi’ has been postponed at 11th hour. It was previously announced that the movie will be released world wide this year on eid, giving a tough competition to the other three Pakistani movies but unfortunately, movie Waar will now be released in September or October.

The maker of the film, Bilal Lashari has been working really hard to make things work for his first movie which is based on the idea of countering terrorism. The first promo of the movie went on air exactly two years back but due to the uncertain hurdles, the movie failed to make its way to the cinemas.

waar-movie

The movie comes under the banner of ARY Films and holds a significant importance to every Pakistani due to its resemblance with the real issues of the country. Adding further charm in the project, the cast of the movie includes Shaan Shahid, Shamoon Abbasi, Ali Azmat, Ayesha Khan and Meesha Shafi.

It was highly predicted that the movie might not bring decent business as there were no strong promotion campaigns been seen by the advertisers and now that it will release later, it can be expected that the team will come up with better and more profitable plan.

We hope that the efforts been put in by our celebrities in the said project bring fruitful results.

‘Chennai Express’ in- ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’ Out this EID!

0

The holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr is now a few hours away from us and has been shared with you all, there were 4 major Pakistani movies releasing this year on Eid, out of them the most powerful release was expected by Humayun Saeed’s ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’. Like all other movie lovers, even was looking for some tickets for my family for the movie Josh (and not ‘MHSA’) and figured out that ‘’Main hoon Shahid Afridi’ will not be releasing on Eid in the country. The movie’s release has been delayed probably to provide a clear gateway to the previously banned Bollywood movie ‘Chennai Express’.

Still confused? Making it easier to understand, Indian Movie Chennai Express which was previously banned in Pakistan to give the local content a better exposure within the country has already made its way to the cinemas and is a part of the ShowTime been offered by Pakistani popular cinemas.

afridi

Atrium Cinema in Karachi, which offers an online booking service has already set its schedule for the movies that are been released this eid and it is interesting to see that despite of the hype been created about the four upcoming Pakistani movies, Josh, Ishq Khuda, Main Shahid Afridi hoon and Waar, we can see Josh only that is been schedule where even Ishq Khuda is also kept on hold.

afridii

Announcing the delay in the release, Vasay Chaudhry, the writer of the movie told the Express Tribune that the movie editor Azam Khan has passed away and the movie is still not done with the final touches. He also admitted that if the movie would have been released this Eid, the Bollywood movie which will now release on Eid would have taken up the market completely and so play it safe, it is better to release the movie some days later.

Let us see which movie takes up the market this Eid,

Ideas For On Screen Couples

0

This post is meant to be strictly food for thought, nothing more and nothing less. I think countless readers and drama viewers can relate to it because there are numerous times when we find ourselves wishing or thinking how a particular male and female lead will look together in a play. Our industry is full of artists who are very gifted. Our directors and producers also experiment with different kinds of on screen couples all the time. Gone are the days when an on screen couple was a hit with the viewers, it was seen over and over again because their presence alone guaranteed that people will watch a drama. If that was the case then we would have seen Mahira and Fawad Khan, Sanam Baloch and Fawad Khan on screen together again and again. Nowadays, the trend has reversed. When an on screen couple is as big a hit as Khirad and Asher and Bano and Hassan then the directors and producers want that those memories should stay in people’s mind and do not show the same actors and actresses together in different dramas. Based on this new trend of experimenting with different leads, I am going to give some ideas of which male and female lead will look good together based on my own likes and dislikes of course.

Fawad Khan and Syra Yusef

Fawad Khan is older than Syra but he can still pass for a college boy if given the right make over. I really like both Fawad and Syra. Ideally I would like to see them in a romantic comedy; something like AunnZara because Syra has proved already that she is really good at doing comic characters and Fawad Khan and his fans need a break from all the serious roles that he has been doing.

Don’t you think that these two will make a very cute couple?

syrafk

Sami Khan and Sanam Baloch

The other day I saw a picture of Sami Khan and Sanam Baloch, they looked great together. Both of them are exceptional actors even though Sami Khan is wasting himself in roles that don’t bring out the best in him but that doesn’t change the fact that he is a very gifted actor. Sanam Baloch has always maintained a very good chemistry with all her co stars. I think both of them will look great in an intense role because Sanam emotes very well and so does Sami Khan.

What do you think will they look good together or not?

sbsami

Ahsan Khan and Sanam Jang

I am very certain that all of Ahsan Khan and Sanam Jang’s fans will do anything to see both of them together in the same play. Sanam Jang is another new actress who is the queen of expressions. Ahsan Khan is a very versatile actor, he has no problem fitting in any kind of role so we know for sure that he will not let us down.

Would you like to see both of them as a couple in a play? If not then who do you think they will look good with?

 sanamahsan

Meekal Zulfiqar and Ayza Khan

Ayza Khan is very cute and very talented. Meekal Zulfiqar is talented but sometimes I feel like he is being typecast. I have always wanted to see both of them together in a play. But for once Meekal should not play the bad husband who cannot do justice to his wife. It would be really good to see them in a romantic serial in which they have strong characters but there isn’t too much rona dhona.

Have you ever wished to see both of them together? There is no harm in wishing!

meekalayza

Danish Taimoor and Alishba Yusef

Alishba Yusef is one of those actresses who make their fans wait for too long before they make an appearance on screen. I really liked Danish Taimoor’s acting and character in drama serial Rehai. He should do more projects in which he gets to play such roles. Alishba Yusef and Danish Taimoor will make an amazing on screen couple given that they are working in a good play with a good quality script and of course with a first-class director.

danishalishba

Mahira Khan and ?

Who do you think Mahira Khan will good with? Honestly speaking, I would really like to see Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan on screen together again but we all know that is not going to happen. Mahira Khan and Mohib Mirza also had a very good on screen chemistry in the play Shehr-e-Zaat. Ahsan Khan and Mahira Khan will look good together too but seriously this one is a difficult choice so I will leave it to the readers to decide.

Feel free to share your views about the above ideas for on screen couples without any reservations.

Burka Aveneger – Don’t Mess With The Lady In Black!

0

Unfortunately our television channels have never shown much interest in providing children with quality entertainment. Our schools also stress more on English than on Urdu and as a result most of the children who go to private schools find it difficult to grasp Urdu, which in my opinion is a much more difficult language to learn than English. Cartoons and animations in Urdu which teach children good lessons are the need of the hour. The electronic media can play a vital role in educating the kids. By education, I don’t mean teaching them ABCs but by helping them understand the difference between good and bad. Learning this difference goes a long way. It helps children become good individuals when they grow up.

I have never been a big fan of fairy tales because they send the wrong message to little girls in particular. Almost all of them send out the message that being pretty is very important. None of the fairytale princesses were ever average looking. In fact the other day when my niece was reading Snow White I was actually amazed at the way her beauty had been explained! Thanks to these fairy tales at a very early age girls start obsessing with having long hair. They also start differentiating (unconsciously of course) among friends or class fellows on the basis of color; who is whiter and who is “brown” is sadly very common nowadays.

burqaburka7

Other than this all the fairy tales end with the damsel in distress being rescued by her prince charming because her happy ending is not possible without a prince charming.

burka3burka2

Burka Avenger comes as a breath of fresh air considering just how clichéd these fairy tales are. Our super hero is no damsel in distress but she helps those who are in trouble. She is strong enough to take care of herself and other people too. She does not have long locks of beautiful hair and rose colored lips but she wears a burka to hide her identity and looks great in it. I think the concept that this super hero is actually a school teacher by profession is sheer brilliance because kids all age look up to their teachers. They are their ideals and now they can be super heroes too – how cool is that!

burka5burka6

The Burka Avenger has been launched in a very intelligent way too. It has a facebook page which has a lot of fans already, there are Burka Avenger phone games and t shirts and it has a great soundtrack of its own. Annie Jaffrey is the voice behind our super hero. The Pakistani pop star Haroon Rashid came up with this idea.

burka8burka9

The Burka Avenger does not use weapons to fight her enemies but her weapons are pens, pencils and books. This clearly shows that the idea behind the concept is that with education we can fight all kinds of evil. Burka Avenger’s first episode was very impressive. The creator of the animation has made it clear that main purpose of this animation apart from educating the kids is also going to be to entertain them.
Following is the description given in the official page of the animation, “The Burka Avenger is an amazing action-comedy animated TV Series that follows the adventures of the Burka Avenger and three young kids in the imaginary city of Halwapur as they fight the evil Baba Bandook and his henchmen. The Burka Avenger wears the burka veil to hide her identity like superheroes do. Her alter ego is that of a mild-mannered teacher at a girls’ school. Her use of pens and books as projectile weapons to fight the bad guys is symbolic on many levels. Her main motto is “Justice, Peace and Education for all”. The good news is that the series Burka Avenger is all set to go global with plans for it to be screened in 60 countries. It will be translated in 18 different languages.

burka10burka 11

If your kids/younger siblings/nieces/ nephews etc didn’t get a chance to watch the first episode of this amazing series, I suggest that you make them watch it online because it will entertain them and teach them some thing positive. It airs on Geo Tez at 6 pm on Sundays. The production house (Unicorn Black Production) has taken a great initiative by introducing this series. It is highly recommended that you visit the official website of Burka Avenger for fun games, trailers and the OST.

Did you watch the first episode? Do you agree that we should be proud of our new super hero?

Interesting Tit-Bits of Information

0

Nowadays there are a few popular names everywhere in the social media. Personally, I am tired of reading news about people like Aamir Liaquat, Taher Shah and Mathira and they will surely not be mentioned in this post. I came across some other interesting tit bits of information which instantly captured my interest. I am sure you will enjoy reading them too.

So here you go:

It is always a proud moment when some other country appreciates the talent in your country. The talented person is none other than our cricketer ‘Misbah-ul-Haq’, whose fame has reached a US TV Series now. He was recently mentioned and appreciated in a US TV series called ‘The Newsroom’. It gives me great pleasure to see that our cricketers are appreciated worldwide.

the newsroom

Coca-Cola is a renowned brand and is available in 200 countries worldwide. The delightful part is that Pakistan was also shown amongst a few other countries in the New Coca Cola’s International TV Commercial that was recently launched. It is another proud moment for us to see that Pakistan has been chosen out of the 200 countries to be shown in the Coca-Cola’s International TV Commercial. For those who are interested in watching the TVC, here is the video:

There is good news for all the Mahira Khan fans out there! It has been reported that A & B Productions are considering casting Mahira Khan and Sami Khan as the leads in a serial based on Maha Malik’s novel. The news is not confirmed yet as the production house is still considering the ideal cast for the show and it is yet to be finalized. Somehow I never imagined Mahira Khan paired with Sami Khan but come to think of it, they might look good together on screen. If things work out then we might see them together.

photo(5)

So this next piece of information will be pretty surprising for everyone. Sana Khan who played the role of Zaviya on ARY Digital’s Parchaiyan just had a new addition to her family, and the new addition is an adorable baby brother who was born recently. The irony of this news is that there was a similar situation in her show ‘Parchaiyan’ which she is now experiencing in reality. The only difference is that she had a baby sister in the show but in reality she has a very cute baby brother.

photo(3)

Fahad Mustafa has followed Humayun’s footstep and has now launched his own Production House called Big Bang Entertainment. The first show produced by his production house is the upcoming serial on ARY, ‘Mere Humrahi’. Fahad Mustafa is playing one of the leads in the show; the other two leads are Shehzaad Sheikh and Soniya Hussain. The promos look unique and the show looks very promising too.

photo(1)

Most of the Pakistani shows have concepts based on social issues. We also get to see a few comedy shows once in a while but other than that no other genre has been experimented with. Well, the news is that we will soon get to see a thriller/horror show called ‘Koi Hai’. It stars Angeline Malik, Shamoon Abbasi, Arij Fatima and others. Let’s see how this show turns out to be!

photo(2)

Sarwat Gillani is yet again showing her versatility in her upcoming play this Eid. She will be playing a role of a very typical ‘Paktoon Girl’. The show is more along the lines of comedy and the rest of the cast includes Syed Mohammed Ahmed, Saba Hamid, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Shehnaz Ismail & Azra Mohyuddin. It is directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Sarmad Mirza. I am definitely looking forward to seeing Sarwat in this new avatar.

photo(4)

The next news is about Sohail Haider who has sung countless OST’s for shows like Dastaan, Mere Harjai, and Mastana Mahi which have become a huge hit amongst the masses. He recently got engaged to Humaima Malik’s sister, Dua Malik. Congratulations to both of them!

Adhoori Aurat Episode 16 – Maryam’s Operation!

0

This week’s episode focused on Maryam’s operation; since the treatment did not work she had to get herself operated. Zayaan got pretty uneasy after hearing what the doctors had said. Throughout the episode I was trying to find out the reason behind Zayaan’s insensitivity but every scene confused me even more. Maryam desperately wanted to hear a few words of comfort from Zayaan but all she got was indifference from his side. She is now trapped in a marriage where she gets no support from her in-laws or her husband. In this tough time, there was no one in the house to look after her. Sadly, the servants were more caring than the members of the house.

I was really irked by Zayaan’s attitude throughout the episode. It seemed like he was fighting some inner turmoil. He just could not digest the news of Maryam’s operation. At times I feel that the reason behind his indifference is that he cannot stand ‘imperfection’ in his life. The fact that Maryam would not be perfect anymore is the reason behind his unreasonable attitude. But then, during the scene where he comes near Maryam’s sleeping form to comfort her tells a different story altogether. It shows that he still cares about Maryam but something is holding him back from expressing his true feelings.

photo (21)

Zayaan’s lack of response and interest in her treatment disheartens Maryam every time. Her sole motivation right now is to get better for her daughter Ashiya. I am glad Zayaan at least had the sense to get a maid to take care of Ashiya but sadly, it was not his idea but Faiza’s. After seeing Zayaan worried the night before her operation, Maryam got hopeful once again that Zayaan still has a place for her in his heart, but all her hopes shattered the next morning when she saw that Zayaan had left the house early in the morning and he would not be by her side during her operation. I truly felt bad for Maryam at this point.

photo (20)
Nusrat just manages to get more on my nerves with each passing episode. She does not have an ounce of humanity in her body. When Faiza and her mother came to see Maryam, she openly said that she has no hope that Maryam will ever get better because a disease like Cancer never goes away. She said all this in front of Maryam and I really felt like throttling her at that moment. How rude and insensitive can a person be? She just could not see all of them concerned about Maryam’s welfare so she quickly directed the talk towards Afshah and her son.

photo (22)

Maryam’s family was disappointed at not seeing Zayaan at the hospital during Maryam’s operation. When Sultan saw that Maryam was calling out Zayaan names repeatedly, he immediately went to Zayaan’s house and asked him the reason behind his absence at the hospital. Maryam is going through a tough time and she needs him by her side. Zayaan told him that he could not gather up the courage to see Maryam in such a state and he needs some time to come to terms with the situation. At times like these I feel like he genuinely loves Maryam but I do not understand what is stopping him from showing how much he loves and care for Maryam. What is he really afraid of? I really wish he would open up so that we get an insight on his true feelings.

Zayaan and Faiza’s growing friendship are ringing the alarm bells in my ears. Zayaan actually seemed upset with Faiza when she did not come to the office in the preview for the next episode.

What do you guys think is the reason behind Zayaan’s indifference? Share your views about the episode.

The best part of this latest episode was that there were enough scenes with Sikandar and Kiran in them and most of tonight’s story revolved around the two. Kankar definitely has picked up pace. Some of the scenes still seem repetitive but I can say with all certainty that it is only getting better. Sikandar and Kiran’s relationship started off as perfect in tonight’s episode but by the end of the episode the viewers got to see a completely different side of Sikandar’s character. Kiran should have asked Sikandar before going to her parents’ house because he surely wouldn’t have stopped her from going but even if she didn’t, Sikandar had no right to “punish” her the way he did. He put her in an awkward situation in front of her family and was obviously very rude to her.

k7k6

Jealousy has gotten the best of Arzoo and in this episode she participated very actively in the gossip session against Kiran. Faiqa’s idea of getting her engaged did not work at all; like all her other ideas! The meeting between Arzoo and Shuja was actually very similar to the one she had with Sikandar a few months back, the only difference was that this time around she was the one who acted the way Sikandar did with her! Ironic indeed! Arzoo has clearly not gotten over Sikandar and feels the exact same way about Kiran as her mother and aunt now. I have to say that all the focus on material things today was rather off putting. When Sikandar brought Kiran the parrots, I thought the surprise was very cute but later on all the references to what Sikanadar had been buying for Kiran without Kiran even knowing how much those things cost because she was lucky enough to get married to a rich man did not seem right at all. Also, Kiran’s statement that she always believed in fairytales and that she envied girls who came to college in those big luxurious cars sounded completely out of character.

k1

Few episodes back, it was Faiqa’s obsession with Sikandar and the repeated blame game that gradually turned dull and boring. Now, Rukhsar’s character and her scenes are headed the same way. Right from the first episode, we have been hearing similar complaints from her. Even after making sure that Adnan does not get married before she does, she does not seem content at all. At one minute she wants to join the gym to please her future in laws and husband and the next minute she does not even want to get married. I understand where she is coming from but like always I did not feel for her character at all.

k4

The preview for the next episode reminded me of the girl who questioned her professor about women’s respect and dignity in the first episode. But it also makes me question Kiran’s character; Arzoo has told Kiran off again and again in the worst possible manner but she keeps on trying to mend ties with her without worrying about her self respect because she believes that it is her duty to do so since Arzoo is her cousin and her friend. Why can’t she give her husband the same benefit of the doubt? I am not justifying Sikanadr’s behavior at all but just trying to understand the reason why Kiran will let her friend put her down but not her husband.

k3

I have to hand it t o the director Aabis Raza for directing the serial very well till now. I simply love his work in Kadurat and Kankar both. All the actors were brilliant as usual in tonight’s episode. Despite of its weaknesses Kankar is getting stronger and it definitely gives me something to look forward to. I have to say though that if it wasn’t for Sanam Baloch, I may not have liked it so much. I must add in the end that Fahad Mustafa is doing very well as Sikandar and I have absolutely no complaints regarding his acting now.

Yeh Shaadi Nahi Hosakhti Episode 5 & 6 – The Bhatts Arrive In Karachi

The Bhatts finally arrived in Karachi this week and created havoc in Sikander’s life. It was almost impossible for Sikander to fit the nine family members in his apartment but since Badi Ammi insisted, he had to make adjustments. The ‘adjustments’ included sending Hamza to the terrace to sleep since there was no space for him in the three bedroom apartment. The poor guy was scared out of his wits to sleep alone on the terrace, where he heard constant sounds of gunshots. The things Hamza does for his friendship with Sikander are just heartwarming.  I have said it before and I would say it again that I simply love Ahmed Hasan’s acting, and I think he has performed better than Mohib in this show.

photo (12)

On Sikander’s side, the Bhatt’s are trying to adjust in Karachi and on Alishba’s side; her Durre phupho (Saba Hameed) makes her dramatic entry. She is just full of drama and resorts to emotional blackmail all the time to convince people. She was highly offended when she received the news that Zahid and his family are not willing to accept Ahmed Hafees as their son-in-law and Alishba is interested in someone else. She left no stone turned to blackmail her brother to agree to Alishba and Ahmed Hafees’s marriage.

photo (11)

To deal with this new problem, Alishba asked Sikander to give her some time and tell his family to wait. Well, that was not something easy to accomplish for Sikander. He quickly made a plan to keep his family busy by taking them out and showing them Karachi and visiting the places he knew they would love. It cracked me up to see that the ‘places’ they were interested in visiting were Sea View, Zainab Market and Quaid-e-Azam ka Mazar. Their tour of the city was pretty entertaining. But all Sikander’s efforts went down the drain when at the end of the day they were still insisting on meeting Alishba’s family.

photo (9)

The main ruckus was created by Chammi Tai who had problems living in the congested apartment and she kept on telling Badi Ammi to get the deed over with and go back to Lahore. While Badi Ammi and Chammi Tai were desperate to return to Lahore, Soni, Tasneem Chachu and Guddi were having a lot of fun in Karachi. Even Tanveer Taya wanted to stay back in Karachi to establish his business here but this idea did not go well with Badi Ammi, who was not in favor of setting up the ‘Bhatt Sweet Chain’ anywhere else other than Lahore.

After Zahid’s dramatic (Alisha’s father) encounter with his mother and sister, the poor guy was left helpless and scared (He actually got sick!). In one brave attempt under the influence of his medicines, he told Durre very clearly that he is not interesting in marrying his daughter to a guy like Ahmed Hafees who only knows how to show off his father’s money. Along with this, he had a few more insulting things to say about Ahmed Hafees which offended his sister and she went crying to her mother. And there started another emotional outburst and blackmailing from Durre’s side! It seems like their mother has a soft corner for Durre and she easily succumbed to her emotional blackmail and refused to meet Sikander’s family.

photo (7)

Zahid, after seeing Alishba so tensed, gathered courage and decided to go with Alishba to meet his mother and convince her to come to their house and meet Sikander’s family. Alishba spoke up in front of her Dadi for the first time and clearly told her how she feels about Sikander. I had a feeling that Dadi would melt after seeing how Alishba felt about Sikander but unfortunately, this was not the case. Let’s see if Dadi would finally break her vow of not meeting Sikander’s family for Alishba’s sake.

photo (8)

Once again I loved the chemistry between Haniya and Hamza. Their scenes are always enjoyable to watch. The instant bonding between Chachu and Hamza was an absolute treat because they happen to be my two favorite people in this show. Soni’s Shayari was also at its peak in this episode and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

In the next episode we will see the confrontation between the Barood family and the Bhatts. That would sure be interesting!

Humayun Saeed and Mahnoor Baloch indecent video leaked

0

While half of the Pakistani audience is still questioning about the airing of foreign content that promotes vulgarity within the country, Pakistani actors too are playing their best part in promoting vulgarity by shooting bold ads. Reframing the limits of cheapness and bold shoots, Humayun Saeed’s and Mahnoor Baloch’s latest movie song has been leaked in the social media which reveals all the filth of the movie ‘Main Shahid Afridi hoon’, or may be just a glimpse of it.

The song “Masti main doobi raat hai”, a song which has been pictured on Humayun Saeed, Mahnoor  Baloch and Mathira is an item number which has been shot in a bar. Giving it a typical bar-touch, most of the ladies are seen wearing two-pieces only and making it worse, their deep necks are further exposed to camera intentionally. The country which is known as an Islamic republic state seems to have forgotten the ethical boundaries that it should have followed. The song has nothing but vulgarity reloaded in its true meaning where Humayun Saeed is seen enjoying being surrounded by half nude girls and Mathira is found seducing him with every curve she could have showed on screen.

Untitled

People have always admired Mahnoor Baloch for her not-so-revealing age but despite of the fact that she is beautiful, one shall not forget that she is in her mid-50s’ and doing such bar dances are something that really do not suit her.

Untitled3

Now that the short video of the song has been leaked, it is high time to question the newly formed government of Pakistan about the constitutional laws which we saw been highlighted recently when the PML-N government announced to place huge taxes on the airing of foreign content within the country in order to preserve the local, traditional principles of Pakistani entertainment industry.

Untitled2

The movie will be releasing nationwide this Eid-ul-Fitr and to give the local content a better exposure, four Indian movies are been banned in Pakistan. It is further worth questioning that aren’t we offering similar vulgar flavor of entertainment to our viewers that they hate it when they see it coming from across the border.

Aunn Zara Episode 07 – The Apology.

0

So, there it was. Another complete package from Aunn Zara’s team. But this time I must say it was good to see the focus shift to the seriousness of their relation & expectations the two have from one & other. It dealt with the issues Zara is facing because of Aunn’s ego. I; like always, enjoyed the whole episode but did find a few things over the top. Plus I feel the comic touch has subsided tinsyyyy bit but I am hoping we get to share more laughs ahead & for that I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Finally Manzar & Shella have begun their mission to help their two friends in distress, however, Shella has no idea where Manzar’s intentions are progressing. Shella may seem to ignore a lot of his gibberish but will eventually understand his hits on her. I like how they both are trying to eradicate the problems of their friends & want to fill in the gaps they think Aunn Zara have in terms of communication. At times, I find Manzar’s flirt a lot more cheeky but always love Shella’s ‘not-bothered’ attitude towards him.

At this moment, Zara’s father is just not getting the point that Zara loves the new turn in her life & she is completely happy with everything she is experiencing, I feel it is his upbringing which has made her so stern in what she wants, which for sure is a good thing. Jamshed being the ‘Army wala’ always wanted his daughter to be focused, disciplined & someone who can make the right decisions & stick to them. Well, there he has it. All his values paid off & he has done his job perfectly as a father because Zara has taken everything good from her only parent. At this point, where Jamshed still feels Zara is a young little girl who can’t handle the Zoo-like in-laws, he is mistaking her endurance & the capability to extend & grab the love she had, all her life, longed for. I admired how Zara clearly reminded Jamshed of what she always wanted & how content she it. Even though, Jamshed had his own idea planned for Zara’s life & is kind of taken aback by what Zara has to go through but eventually he will get hold of the reality.

It was interesting how the scenario of an accident was unfolded just in order to make them draw more closer to each other. Aunn’s lifelong supervision by the women has made him incapable of understanding the needs & wants of every lady related to him. To Aunn, every woman of his family is either there to boss him over, is there to be ignored by him or is there to be in a competition with. In Zara’s case, unwillingly he formed some prejudices too. He is seen competing with Zara or always was on his own trip where he wanted to get rid of all the attention & used Zara as a shield to hide behind. He never really took her seriously (vice versa) & never really understood her position.

What made the situation more tangled was when he just tried to prove a point to Zara, which was unnecessary on his part, leading to the accident just because he couldn’t take how Husna trusted Zara more than him with her car. At first, he wanted Zara to take all the attention but now when she is happily doing that he has started to have certain issues. Zara’s cover up for him once again did make a few things clear to him & he was seen sympathizing with her & restless because he then understood what actually he did. I liked that he understood the whole situation & was willing to fix it with an apology.

The whole ‘naraz’ case was a treat & each & everyone’s idea of ‘narazgi’ & ‘manana’ was worth a laugh. Nighat, being too thick headed couldn’t really help him. Chacha tried to show how hard it was but he had his own ideas because you just can’t get away without apologizing & then Parveen Bano pe to narazgi hi khatam thi. Aunn’s response ‘kahin appko Dada manatay manatay hi to nahi khatam ho gaye’ was such a thigh-slapper. I think it has to be my favorite conversation rather the whole ‘kisi ko manatay kaisay hain’? issue was funny. I feel that the utmost attention & limitations of Aunn has made him a bit more sensitive then he would’ve been & for that reason he was being so considerate towards Zara, which I totally enjoyed. The flower gesture was way too cute & was probably the best way to prove a point of apology but alas! Zara’s allergy, her not being able to get the right picture & her misapprehension took it a whole new level of misery for them both. :)

I like the pace of the drama for sure & how they are making the characters grow each & every time. I feel it’s a high time that we get to see more of Husna as well because she has gone in the background & needs to be brought forth a little bit. I really want to see what hardships she had to go through after Aunn’s father left & what ‘bharam’ she spoke about when Aunn got married. Her character is so peacefully mysterious that I just want to know more about her.

I was wondering, was it just me who found the ‘Sahir Lodhi’ thing a bit un-necessary? I think Osman Khalid Butt has some dislikes towards him (like all of us) because even in one of his advert’s he spoke about the guy too. I know all the sane Pakistanis get creeps from him but to openly pin point Mr. Loathe-ee is like giving him the undivided attention (which he yearns for), isn’t it? I feel if you don’t like anyone, never give them the pleasure of your attention even – be it in a negative way or in your even in your critique. But yeah I agree, because of SRK people dislike SL or vice versa, but yeah, you just can’t ignore him, haha!

Ohkay, the thing which I found a bit over the top was a lot of comfortable skin-ship in the episode. I feel the story is so strong, the characters & actors are strong as well & by keeping this sole reason in mind they could have skipped the whole ‘raat wali harkat’, ‘subha wali harkat’, ‘koi aisi waisi harkat’  flick easily, because it seemed unnecessary. I feel even if this whole thought wasn’t stirred in the first place, my mind wouldn’t have even gone there because they are too innocent & I love the story & the show irrespective of all this as well. I feel everyone knows the beauty of a relation that the husband & wife share, so there’s definitely no need of any such constant reminder. I must say I was never really a fan of ‘Humsafar’ but what I appreciate the most about the drama is the strong chemistry which spoke volumes where they didn’t have to rely on any such meaningless contact between the couple. I know, I am talking about two completely different dramas with the different genres but let’s keep in mind the newly wedded couple for this instance. Aunn Zara, ever since it started, has an innocence etched in it & if they’d maintain it, I feel people would still love it – in fact a bit more. I would for sure.

Anyhow, I love the show & how the director has taken out the best in every actor. Every single thing is awe-inspiring & I love how our realities & the beauty of our culture is portrayed so nicely without any negativity as well. There have been so many moments where you can relate to each one of them by absolutely enjoying them in a whole new perspective & light. That’s the beauty of this drama & for this I give them all a ‘THUMBS UP’.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Upcoming Shows of This Season! – A New List

0

This is the time during the year when a whole lot of new shows are launched. There are many attractions this season for all the viewers. Hum TV, Geo and ARY Digital all are launching shows with different concepts and a loaded cast with renowned faces.

Here is a list of shows worth looking forward to this season:

photo (1)

Numm:

I am sure most of you would be looking forward to this show because it will be Fawad Khan’s comeback serial after Zindagi Gulzar Hai. He will play the character of a well-educated landlord named Wali. His character is very different from the roles he had played before. The relationship between Wali (Fawad Khan) and Mahjabeen (Sania Saeed) has an air of mystery to it. It seems like the much coveted yet forbidden love. Most of the story was revealed in the 12 minute long promo that was released way before the official promos went on air. The cast also includes Kanza, Usman Peerzada and few other names. It is directed by Ahson Talish and written by Myra Sajid. It will air soon on Geo TV.

photo(94)

Darmiyaan:

Darmiyaan is another hyped show nowadays, and the teasers have created a lot of curiosity and interest among the viewers. It stars Sania Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Syra Shehroze as the leads. The story is not based on a love triangle as most of you must have predicted but along the lines of revenge. Aaliya (Syra Shehroze) tries to destroy a family in her thirst for revenge. It also stars Javeria Abbasi and Kaif Ghaznavi. It is directed by Shahid Shafa’at and written by Emran Hussain and Erum Aftab. It will replace Kaala Jaadu on Wednesdays on ARY Digital.

photo(90)

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yaqeen Hai:

I have been hearing about this show since last year, and I am glad that it is finally going on air on Hum TV. It is going to replace Jiya Na Jaye on Thurdays. The cast has Ahsan Khan, Ayesha Khan and Mekaal Zulfiqaar as the leads. Ayesha is playing a gray shaded character in this show, and I am looking forward to seeing her in this character. Ahsan’s character seems very different from his usual ones and Mekaal’s character also looks promising. Ayesha has sizzling chemistry with both Mekaal and Ahsan as we have seen her being paired with both in the past. The promos instantly captured my interest because of the cast and the different story line. The show is directed by Barkat Siddiqui and written by Seema Munaf and Attiya Dawood.

photo(88)

Khoya Khoya Chand:

This show is based on Faiza Iftikhar’s novel ‘Yeh Lamhay Mere Naam Kerle’ and it is going to replace Dil-e-Muzter on Saturdays on Hum TV. It stars Ahsan Khan, Maya Ali, and Sohai Ali Abro as the leads. The promos have gone on air, and they look pretty different and refreshing. Most probably we will see a love triangle between Sohai Ali Abro, Ahsan Khan and Maya Ali in the show. The show is directed by Fahim Burney, and it will start airing from 10th August, 2013.

photo(91)

Ek Kasak Reh Gaee:

We are already seeing Sanam Saeed in Kadurat nowadays, and we will soon see her in another show opposite Mekaal Zulfiqar. The cast also includes Javed Sheikh, Hina Khwaja Bayat, Taifoor Khan, Sara and Naila Jafferi. The show is directed by Dilawar Malik and written by K. Rehman. We have seen Sanam paired with many different actors over the past, and it will be interesting to see her paired with Mekaal in this show. The show will air soon on Geo TV.

photo(89)

Mere Humrahi:

Mere Humrahi is another show worth looking forward to this season. The cast includes stars like Fahad Mustafa, Soniya Hussain, Shehzaad Sheikh, Khalid Malik, Munawar Saeed, Ismat Iqbal and others. It is directed by Furqan Khan and written by Sana Faisal. It will start from 12th August on ARY Digital.

photo(93)

Matam:

The teasers of Matam have already gone on air on ARY Digital. The cast includes Javed Sheikh, Rubina Ashraf, Sana Askari, Mahrukh Rizvi, Beenish Chauhan, Shahoosd Alvi and Badar Khalil. The story is based on the same old concept of gender discrimination, which is very common in our society. What is interesting in this show is Javed Sheikh completely different avatar. It is directed by Rashid Sami and written by Shehr Bano. It will air soon on ARY Digital.

photo(92)

Aseer Zaadi:

We have been seeing the teasers of this show for a long time now on Hum TV, and the promos look good. The cast of this show includes Sania Saeed, Ainie Jafferi, Noor Hasan, Farah Shah, Sakina Sammo, Eshita Mahboob, Sania Shamshad, Salman Shahid and Yasir Shoro. It is written by Mustafa Afridi and directed by Ehtisham Uddin. Sania Saeed will be seen in a very stern kind of role. I must say, Ainie Jafferi and Noor Hasan are also looking fabulous together in the promos.

photo(86)

Saari Bhool Humari Thi:

This is another upcoming show, which will air soon on Geo TV. It has Danish Taimoor, Ayeza Khan and Affan Waheed as the leads. It is directed by Siraj Ul Haq and written by Rahat Jabeen.

rishtay-kuch-adhoray-se

Kadurat Episode 03 – Mina Is Back!

0

Even after so many years Mina’s step family couldn’t possibly be prepared enough for what was coming their way. All the pent up anger and bitterness against her step family has transformed Mina into a more negative person than she already was. Mina’s father never addressed the issues she had in the first place so her condition has gone from bad to worse. Mina may have grown up but the last memory of her mother has not left her. Even after so many years she does not have the strength or the state of mind to deal with what happened.

k4k3

The most powerful scene in today’s episode had to be the encounter between Mina and her step brother Asad (Imran Aslam). The dialogues were short but very meaningful and the acting by both the actors was very impressive. Asad has grown up to be a very confident individual; he is no longer the scared boy who didn’t feel like he was not a part of the new house he had just moved in. The dialogues “Beta kis baap ka hun” clearly showed that Asad owned the status of being the son of the person his mother married. I have to say though that Mina’s threats did not seem to carry any weight since it seems like Mina lacks the tact that a person would need in order to tackle the situation she is in. She hides nothing; her hatred for her family members is very apparent. Aleena and Asad had each other all these years and of course had parents to love them too but Mina was left to fight her demons alone. The way they have been raised shows in their personalities.

k1

All through the episode I was wondering how Mina will achieve any of her objectives. She maybe great at pulling pranks, bullying others and putting others in an uncomfortable position but nothing more than that. Mina’s behavior had a very childish side to it. She maybe negative but she still appeared to be the scared little girl who did not know how to handle the situation her father had put her in. I could not help but feel for her character especially in the scene when Mina decides to walk out of the party. The OST playing in the background explained Mina’s feelings so well. She was too little when her father “abandoned” her. She still does not blame her father because he is probably the only family she has. One can clearly see why Mina has turned out to be such a complicated person. She lost her mother and her father at the same time, her father sent her away as a punishment for not being able to deal with the situation properly.

k5

Shaheen (Nida Khan) has been there for Mina all these years; one can easily imagine how they managed to be such good friends. Shaheen’s presence in the house is only going to make things worse for everyone else. It was quite apparent that Mina does not have half the confidence she would normally have without her best friend. Quite unlike Mina, Aleena has everything going for her. She is madly in love with a family friend Daniyal (Junaid khan) who also cannot wait to get married to her. I have to say that the promos of the serial did give away a lot of what Mina will be doing in the future. It would have been so much better if the promos would have been more to the point.

k6

The best thing about this play till now has to be the pace with which the story is progressing, the character development, the choice of actors and also the direction. Did you watch tonight’s episode? Please share your views about it.

558499_449599221805616_1243315621_n

It is yet interesting to see that this is Geo TV’s second attempt to enhance its ratings by casting celebrities who have earned huge popularity and fan following through their other ventures on different channels. To make it more clear, take an example of Fawad Khan who was casted in Drama serial ‘Ashk’ which went on air on Geo TV immediately after the success of ‘Humsafar’ and this time it is ‘Kashaf’ of Zindagi Gulzar hai’ who will be seen on Geo TV after a long time. She will now be seen with Mikaal Zulfiqar who too has the pleasure of working with Mahira  Khan after her successful play Humsafar.

Let us see whether ‘Ek Kasak Reh Gayi’ will improve the game for Geo TV or will it follow the footsteps of Ashk.

Iftar Party and Fund Raising Ceremony for Maa Hospital

0

Following the footsteps of some amazing celebrities of Pakistan who have contributed in the welfare of the society by building hospitals, old age homes, educational institutes and orphanages, it is now the senior comedian and actor Umer Sharif who is working hard for the development of his ‘Maa Hospital’. The hospital is situated in Karachi and is a modern health service hospital which comes under ‘Umer Sharif welfare trust’. While still being in its initial stages of development, the hospital is ready with a proper plan and paramedical staff.

Being a trust welfare hospital, Umer Sharif recently organized an Iftar dinner and musical night program for his fellow artists who have contributed their share in the noble cause. Dil-e-Muzter Last Episode – A Happy Ending!

0

Dil-e-Muzter came to end this week and even though the end was predictable from the beginning there was still a little hope that the ending might change. But after watching the episode I am glad it did not change. Even though I was never in favor of Silah going back to Adeel, I really liked the last installment because finally we saw Adeel coming back to his senses. At first, he pleaded and then even threatened Silah to give him Affan, he was confused about what step to take. On one hand, he had his ego and on the other hand, he had Silah and Affan and for the first time in his life he left go of his ego and chose to follow his heart.

He had been taunting Silah about Ahmer for years but when the lawyer told him to make false accusations on Silah, he just could not stand it. He had been accusing Silah for so many years for something which even he could not bear to hear from another person. He immediately went to Silah and apologized for everything that he had done to her and his actions showed that he felt remorse and was truly sorry. He told her that he still loves her a lot and wants to start his life all over again by both her and Affan by his side. Silah just pointed out that its too late now for regrets and asked him to go back to Zoya and remain sincere to her.

Adeel finally realized all the lies that Zoya had been telling him for all these years and how he had been blindly believing everything that she told him. He finally told her that she means nothing to him as he never loved her because Silah was always in his heart. I just absolutely loved this scene! This shocked Zoya because she could stand anything but not Adeel’s hatred. Adeel finally showed her the reality that her love was always one sided and will always remain that way. Sarwat and Imran both were absolutely fabulous in this scene and the scene where Zoya loses her senses and thinks about everything she had done was brilliantly executed.

Zoya’s guilt and regret was a total treat to watch. The scene where she comes to Silah’s house and begs for forgiveness made me teary eyed because I was so happy for Silah. She had finally made the decision to go away from Silah and Adeel’s life. Thankgod!

I truly felt bad for Ahmer when Silah could not sign the divorce papers. Even though she did not intend to go back to Adeel, she still could not end their relationship. Ahmer was shocked and heart broken but he did not want to pressurize her in any way. Well, Silah might have gone back to Adeel but I still love Ahmer’s character more.

Ahmer turned out to be a true friend as for him, the most important thing was Silah’s happiness. He knew that Silah still loved Adeel and would never be happy with anyone else and he helped to unite Silah and Adeel. The last five minutes where Silah and Adeel look at each other and just cry and remember all their precious moments together in the past was one of the best scenes of this show. Every emotion was clearly written on their faces and when Affan also runs to Adeel and hugs him, the tears of pure happiness came on Silah’s face which brought a huge smile to my face.

Adeel is in no way worthy of Silah because of what he did to her but Silah has always loved him and I doubt she could be happy with Ahmer. She could have made the decision to live alone too but I personally would not have liked that because I always love a HAPPY ending!   But there was one loophole in the show; they did not show how Safeena reacted to this news as she was against Adeel since the very beginning.

I am going to miss this show a lot! I hope we get to see Sanam Jung and Imran Abbas paired up together again in some other show. They had excellent chemistry throughout the show. Sanam Jung has proved herself as a good actress with her very first show. Sarwat Gillani has also shown her versatility with her negative character. The director Shehzaad Kashmiri has done a fantastic job with the execution of every scene. I hope to see more of his work in the future. The editing and cinematography was also just perfect!

Do share your views about this last episode guys! Did you guys approve of the ending or not?
