Urwa Hocane is stepping into production with her film Tich Button. The film stars Iman Aly, Farhan Saeed, Sonya Hussyn and Feroze Khan in the lead roles. The fil is being produced under Urwa Hocane and husband Farhan Saeed’s production house Shooting Star Studios. Tich Button will mark Farhan Saeed’s debut in the Pakistani cinema and the cast looks very appealing.
The shooting for the film has started as the producer Urwa Hocane also posted the first take on her social media. Tich Button is being said to be a fun and comedy movie. It is directed by Qasim Ali Mureed and will be releasing in the year 2019.
Tich Button will be released with the collaboration of the ARY Films and seems like this one is going to be a big one!
Ohkay so, this episode of Khud Parast was heavy but yes, it again had some amazing dialogues to its credit. I am also glad that in stead of showing Hanan living in depression, they chose to show that he pulled himself back & started moving on. The pace of Khud Parast has stayed consistently good & that is why it is always a pleasure watching it.
The Aftermath:
Well, whatever Uswa did was quite unfortunate. She not only destroyed someone’s life, she not only lied but she swore by her mother as well as her unborn child. I guess Hanan actually underestimated Uswa’s level because he assumed that this was something that she will never do but Uswa crossed that limit as well. It was upsetting to see Uswa in such a mental state where she completely forgot the difference between right & wrong, between sinning & not sinning.
In the previous review, I did mention that it is highly likely that Khatoon Bibi will testify against Beenish & Hanan & I was right. Uswa & Saad picked up such a person whom Bakhtawar couldn’t turn a blind eye to, that is why immediately Moeez’s expressions changed as he couldn’t contain his happiness as he knew that her testimony will act like a last nail in the coffin & that’s what happened. It was so nice to see Hanan not losing his mind & rather staying focused on the decision that he made as well as being mindful of the fact that he had to stand by Beenish & Hoorain. The way Hoorain bid goodbye to her father & grandmother was heart-wrenching. In these kind of issues, it’s the children who suffer the most.
Unfortunately, Bakhtawar did know that Hanan couldn’t do something like this but her hatred for Beenish didn’t allow her to say it out loud that both of them were not capable of doing something like this. Bakhtawar thought she will get rid of Beenish & will be able to stop Hanan from going but that didn’t happen actually because even Hanan had made up his mind.
Uswa was celebrating & the one who was with her to celebrate her so called independence was Adeel who ironically is in a mood to trap & cage her but in a different way. Zarina was engulfed with guilt at what her daughter did & she kept on reminding her that she will face the consequences but Uswa chose not to pay heed to what she was saying because Uswa has now started to have an issue with her mother too because she is not saying what Uswa wants to hear.
Saad & Omer made a deal but while Saadia must be thinking that she hit the jackpot, she has no idea about the amount of wealth Saad has gathered & she might never find out because Saad told them to leave.
The conversation Hanan had with his Pupho was very nice. It was good to see Hanan as well as Beenish finding a shelter, some support & a helping hand after being estranged like that. Bakhtawar was concerned for Hanan but still she didn’t come to realize that she was also equally responsible for whatever happened with all of them.
Closing Thoughts – Will Uswa Ever Regret?
Overall, this episode was engaging & interesting as well like all the previous episodes of Khud Parast. I am actually keen on seeing what life has in store for Uswa now, will she come to regret her decisions & if yes, will she be able to pick up the pieces & undo some of the damage she caused. I feel of all the people Beenish deserves an apology from Uswa, let’s see if that will ever happen. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khud Parast.
Keep Supporting,
Cheers, Zahra Mirza.
Note: I know the general perception & understanding is that a woman can not get divorced during pregnancy, this is what I believed too but after watching this episode I did my part of the research to confirm whatever was shown was right or wrong. I came to find out that a woman actually can get divorced during pregnancy & she has to technically observe Iddat till her delivery. Thought of putting it out there because I am sure quite a lot of viewers just like me would be feeling confused after watching this episode. It was good that the writer was mindful of the delicacy of this situation that is why Zarina told Uswa to stay at home till the baby is born & observe Iddat. I was unsure of what was being shown but after finding out how things work, I realized that the writer deliberately & accurately covered that aspect as well. Thank you for reading.
Touching, powerful, beautiful and engaging – tonight’s episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi was simply flawless. This drama has the most amazing characters and it has so much to offer to its viewers. All the different tracks in the story are somehow interrelated and there is a constant conflict in the life of all these characters. In these 13 weeks, the viewers have witnessed these characters going through so much yet it is impossible to predict how they will behave in a certain situation. The writer, director and all the actors involved have given this drama their 100 percent because of which it is turning out to be one of those few plays which raise the bar really high.
Bhola and Noori – A Complete Mismatch
All the scenes covering Bhola and Noori’s track were written and executed brilliantly. Some of these scenes were really amusing especially because of the way Bhola showed his dislike for his new dulhan and the manner in which he tried to explain to her who his friend was. Bhola and Noori both are such finely drawn characters and the performances by both these actors leave you in awe of their talent. Imran Ashraf particularly is beyond impressive as Bhola and Iqra Aziz has translated Noori’s frustration, anger and helplessness so well on screen. Kashif Nisar’s skillful direction has definitely added to the charm since he never overdramatizes any situation and he also keeps the scenes short. While Bhola had a really difficult time understanding why Noori was so cold, he easily got distracted as well. The scenes which showed how hurt he felt when she pushed him away were extremely poignant. Noori on the other hand has a really difficult time accepting the fact that Ama Janate got her married to someone like Bhola. Noori treats Bhola like an unwanted annoying child. When she needs him to do something for her, she tries to convince him nicely but she certainly has no patience for him. I absolutely loved the scene covering how and why Noori decides to go with Bhola to see his friends. In this scene the viewers got to see the Noori we all fell in love with. The meeting disturbed her a lot and it looked like she was already preparing herself for the worse. Faiza Iftikhar’s heroines are never victims no matter what they go through and it seems like Noori too will be a fighter. She is a wise and practical girl who knows that she has nowhere else to go therefore she is doing whatever she can in order to make her stay in this house more ‘bearable’.
More Trouble For Noori
Noori has already been through so much but what Rizwana did today and the preview of the next episode clearly suggested that she will have to go through much more. It looks like Noori’s past is never going to leave her for good and even Ama Janate will suspect her of stealing the jewelry. Rizwana has been shown as a negative character throughout and until the previous episode, I thought that she was selfish but harmless. Did she steal that necklace because she felt tempted or was it because she wanted Fehmida to start doubting Noori? This was the first time that Rizwana was shown doing something which basically proved that she was capable of stooping really low. It makes me wonder what else she has done in the past to disrupt Fehmida’s peace. She cannot see Bhola or Fehmida happy – it is almost as if she is convinced that they don’t deserve to be happy. Munazzah Arif is such a fine actress, her performances are always effortless.
Ama Janate’s Visit
The warm welcome Ama Janate got and the way Noori met her – all of it was covered so well. Asma Abbas is such a phenomenal actress, she has amazing on-screen chemistry with all her co-stars and her acting is so spontaneous. Ama Janate was seriously concerned about Noori and noticed every little thing. Fehmida is always more conscious and apologetic when she is around.
Overall impression
The dialogues and the conversations tonight were extremely engaging as well as relatable. The writer’s approach is commendable – she is not trying to lecture the viewers in any way but she wants the viewers to enjoy her characters and their journeys. The attention to detail is superb since there are absolutely no loopholes and every single aspect of the drama has been shown in complete clarity. Many words tonight were muted in this episode, I am wondering what these words were since the dialogues have been written so well throughout. Tonight’s episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi was another phenomenal episode and it looks like things will only get more interesting from here on. Ranjha Ranjha Kardi has won me over completely and I highly recommend it to all those viewers who like quality entertainment.

Ohkay so, this episode of Cheekh slowly took the story forward without revealing much. So far, because the plot is so interesting, it sure is turning out to be a very engaging play. I must say, Cheekh has been tackled intelligently & so far the reactions of different characters are being used to give out a few hints here & there which keep the viewers guessing. Cheekh definitely is turning out to be such a drama that keeps you engaged & makes you think about what is being shown.
Reactions of All Post Nayab’s Death:
This episode mainly focused on the reactions of all the characters post Nayab’s death. The three people who were affected the most were Ramzan, Mannat & Haya. They were shattered & broken. Another thing that was made clear this time around was that there was a rape attempt that happened & Nayab jumped to save her life, which makes it even more difficult to get to the culprit because they couldn’t really get much information through the forensic report. Mannat couldn’t get her mind off Nayab & continued to think about the miserable life Nayab lived till she left.
Two important things that I noticed were the reactions of the driver as well as Wajih. Driver’s gesture made it seem like he was apologetic towards Nayab & kind of seemed sympathetic at what she went through & her untimely death. When Wajih came out of the room he seemed regretful not sad or anything but he kind of seemed regretful as if he didn’t actually imagine that things would turn out this way.
The police inspector tried to take a highroad & decided to make a deal to yield some personal gains but when things couldn’t go his way, he decided to change the course of this entire case. Whatever that has been shown so far is quite close to reality like the first motive of a police inspector to gain something. Mannat’s mother’s reaction when she found out that Mannat went to the police station & that she was suspecting Wajih was again very reaslitic & understandable. This has been realistically shown that in the entire family of Yawar, no one has even thought of doubting their family member, it is like no one can even conceive of this fact that someone from their family must have done this to Nayab. It is like a hardwired rule that one can not even imagine that their immediate family members can do something like this, that is why Mannat’s mother didn’t even let Mannat complete her sentence before dissing the idea of Wajih being capable of doing something like this. When I saw the actor who is playing the role of Mannat’s mother, I actually thought that when Mannat will start fighting this battle for Nayab, she will have her mother as a support system but that seems highly unlikely considering the kind of introduction she got. She will be also one of those who will discourage Mannat by pressurizing her to not do anything that will cause a dent in her marital life or create rift between her & her in laws. I really wish to see Mannat having some kind of support though!
So, Amir not only changed the entire statement of Nayab in fact he fabricated his own because like he said, he wanted to drag this case (which to me sounded like dragging a drama which I sooo don’t want). It was interesting how Amir directly contacted Mannat, it is like during these few interactions with everyone, he picked up on this fact that Mannat had it in her, where she would do what it takes to find out the truth which he will keep on twisting. Honestly, this is what I feared the most about Nayab’s actual statement not making it to Mannat & this is what happened. Amir also mentioned Wajih’s name in front of Ramzan & that changed the entire scenario.
The last scene was intense & what was even better was the exchange of glances between Mannat & Wajih. Does it mean it will shake Wajih up? Usually as far as things remain concealed, those who are guilty don’t have a problem behaving normally but the moment people start suspecting, that is what turns out to be their undoing. The fact that Mannat is suspecting Wajih will definitely shake him up if he is a culprit, it not then he won’t be too affected, let’s see.
Closing Thoughts – Brilliantly Executed & Acted:
Overall, this episode of Cheekh was again very intense & brilliantly executed. What I am enjoying the most about Cheekh so far is the quotient of mystery as well as some phenomenal performances by most of the actors. Even though Shamsa is annoying but she is still important in this entire setting to break the chain of hints, clues & guessing game otherwise if would get too much or end up making the viewers feel too lost. I personally didn’t enjoy Shamsa’s scenes but I did feel they were rightly placed in the middle of all the other scenes to change the mood & show the other side of the perspective. Nayer Ejaz, Aijaz Aslam, Noor ul Hassan & Saba Qamar continue being impressive in Cheekh so far. Definitely looking forward to the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Cheekh.
Pakistani actors never cease to impress the viewers with their outstanding performances but there are very few performances in which these actors are seen going beyond the boundaries of conventional acting. This season the viewers got to see some of their favorite actors in roles which had a great deal to offer and these actors made the most of it. There were also some characters which were not written impressively but they were translated on screen in such a manner that this execution made a huge difference. An actor can make or break the character he is playing therefore it is so important for an actor to give his best to the projects he/she decides to opt for. All the actors in this list gave the characters they played their best and won over the viewers completely.
Here is the list of the best performances of this season.
Imran Ashraf (Ranjha Ranjha Kardi)
Imran Ashraf’s jaw-dropping performance in drama serial Ranjha Ranjha Kardi is hands down acting at it’s best. He is playing the role of a mentally challenged young man Bhola who does not only keep the viewers entertained but also continues to give viewers so much to reflect upon. Highly entertaining but also deeply moving – Imran Ashraf has set the bar really high for himself and for others. He has made the viewers fall in love with a character which is beautifully etched-out which is why his award-winning performance is winning him tons of appreciation.
Iqra Aziz (Ranjha Ranjha Kardi)
Iqra Aziz’s performance in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi is her finest acting work to date. She plays a character which is layered and magical in so many ways. Noori’s journey so far has been poignant, full of ups and downs, yet she always manages to find a way out. The character has been written beautifully and the impeccable precision with which Iqra Aziz has breathed life into this character makes it one of the best performances of this season.
Asma Abbas (Ranjha Ranjha Kardi)
Asma Abbas has an undeniable screen presence and her performances almost always leave a mark on the viewers. Her role in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi is more challenging than any other she has played so far yet she has added extra layers to this beautiful character which is why it always manages to leave a lingering impact. Asma Abbas’ performance in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi has been engaging and emotional throughout.
Faysal Qureshi (Baba Jani)
Faysal Qureshi plays the role Asfand in the play Baba Jani, which is both compelling and nuanced. Faysal Qureshi’s stand out performance is one of the many reasons why Asfand’s character is easy to connect to. His performance throughout has been subtle, charming and graceful.
Nayer Ejaz (Cheekh)
Nayer Ejaz is playing the role of police inspector Amir Khan in the drama & he definitely has not only made it convincing but very reaslistic as well. Starting from his expressions to his body language, everything just screams the fact that he is a police officer. He has that persona as well as that swag with which he is portraying this character & considering the how important Amir Khan’s role will be in Cheekh, we can totally feel he is the right choice for it because he is doing justice to this character.
Madiha Imam (Baba Jani)
Madiha Imam always underplays her characters while accentuating the basic traits of her characters flawlessly. Her style is unique and she never fails to impress. She is playing the role of a sensitive, emotional and sensible young girl Nimra in the play Baba Jani. Her performance is the number 1 reason why the viewers look forward to her scenes and she always brings out the best in the emotional scenes.
Sajid Hassan (Balaa)
Sajid Hassan nailed his character as Zafar in Bala. He owned every single shade of that character & portrayed it to perfection. Zafar went through a lot, from being an arrogant businessman who looked down on people to someone who was scared of all the mishaps happening in his life & Sajid Hassan made Zafar’s antics & mannerisms quite amusing & enjoyable to watch. This kind of performance is definitely expected from an actor of Sajid Hassan’s stature.
Moomal Khalid (Tawaan)
Moomal Khalid is brilliant as Maryam in Tawaan. Maryam’s character is new & a breath of fresh air which Moomal Khalid has definitely done justice to. She is confident, sorted, polite but she knows what she wants because she is level-headed. Maryam will never allow anyone to mistreat her & Moomal Khalid has not only embraced this beautiful personality but has given it the exact treatment that it deserved. An added bonus is that Moomal Khalid is such an eye-candy and it is a treat to watch her in Tawaan.
Ushna Shah (Balaa)
Nigaar was the most hated character of 2018 & for that, the credit definitely goes to Ushna Shah who made it so realistic that she actually made everyone hate her for how evil she was. Ushna Shah had a grip on Nigar’s character right from the beginning till the end & she never ever took it overboard. Ushna Shah was totally into her character that is why she made this performance quite impactful & memorable.
Saba Qamar (Cheekh)
Even though the drama Cheekh is in its initial stages but Saba Qamar has given us enough reasons to put her in this list. Mannat’s character is going to go through a huge emotional transition and just in the initial phase, Saba Qamar proved that she will make Mannat’s character a force to be reckoned with. Even though in the beginning when Mannat was shown to be a carefree, happy-go-lucky kind of girl, it did feel that Saba Qamar was overdoing it but after the first episode, she proved her calibre yet again.
Aijaz Aslam (Cheekh)
Aijaz Aslam has been a part of the industry for quite a while & now he has come to a point where he is very selective about the projects that he becomes a part of, which definitely is a good thing because it means he gets to pick a right character & make an impact. In Cheekh, so far his character is suspicious because he is guilty of hiding something as well as he is authoritative being the eldest member of the family & both the shades of Yawar’s personality have been outstandingly portrayed by Aijaz Aslam. The note at which the drama has begun & the kind of introduction Yawar has got, it is definitely keeping everyone hooked to it & Aijaz Aslam is proving that he was the right choice for this character.
Ramsha Khan (Khud Parast)
Ramsha Khan has played the role of Uswa in Khud Parast & she has performed exceptionally well. Ramsha Khan has breathed life into this character by elaborating it just so effortlessly on screen. Uswa’s character can be disliked but she has her reasons behind whatever she is doing, which makes her character very realistic & understandable. Ramsha Khan has been brilliant in Khud Parast.
Muneeb Butt (Koi Chand Rakh)
Innocent, demanding, impulsive but mature & someone who is in touch with his emotions, all these traits sum up Umair’s character in Koi Chand Rakh & Muneeb Butt has outdone himself while portraying all these shades of Umair’s personality. I don’t remember seeing him being this impressive in any drama before. The fact that Muneeb Butt gets to outshine his co-actors who have probably a lot more experience than him in acting is commendable.

With this episode of Baba Jani, many of the misunderstandings were cleared. This was another episode which showed Asfand trying his best to keep everyone happy but failing to do so because now there is one more person in his life who needs constant reassurance. Mehwish and Nimra’s relationship is off to a rocky start. Just like every other episode of Baba Jani, this one too had at least one scene which was really amusing. Baba Jani continues to be a well-executed family drama which can get slightly slow at times but it is always satisfying.
Umair To The Rescue
Umair played an important role in this episode in clearing the misunderstanding between everyone. Umair has suddenly changed into a positive central character and unlike before there is a good reason why Nimra really should get married to him. He is probably the only family member who truly looks out for Asfand. Nimra’s attitude tonight was a lot like it was when Asfand and Sadia got married. The apology was short and sweet, it was also good to watch Asfand and Nimra communicating with each other for a change. Najiba’s emotional dialogues suggested that she might finally show some signs of change but it looks like she will continue to believe that she is the only one who deserves Asfand’s love and attention. All these developments were covered convincingly and in an intelligent manner the writer changed the viewers’ perspective about Umair hence laying the foundations for future developments.
The Newly-Weds
Asfand and Mehwish’s scenes were a lot like the scenes which covered Sadia and Asfand’s initial days together perhaps because the writer wanted to show the viewers the difference between these women. While Sadia was more thankful and in awe of Asfand right from the beginning and she started to get extremely insecure later on, Mehwish is already skeptical about Asfand since he let her down in the worst manner possible once before too. Secondly, Sadia never had the confidence to tell Najiba or Naila off but Mehwish is not going to let Najiba get away with saying all those nasty things. The fact that this marriage was nothing short of a shocking development for Mehwish, makes it easier for the viewers to relate to her frame of mind. The slight shock Mehwish felt when she saw Nimra for the first time was captured nicely. It seemed like she did not know before how old Nimra was. Asfand’s patience and cool-headed nature was tested several times in this episode and every time he proved that he was incapable of losing his cool. Asfand’s sensible and mature approach throughout has been the most refreshing element of this drama. The fact that even after trying so hard, he cannot please everyone and ends up making some mistake or the other, makes his character more human.
Overall Impression
This latest episode of Baba Jani took the story forward considerably and the changes in Asfand’s life were covered flawlessly. The fact that this drama is always close to reality and the story stays on track makes it one of the best family dramas. Faysal Qureshi and Madiha Imam’s outstanding performances are the highlight of every episode. All the other actors have also played their parts superbly. I am looking forward to a few fast-paced episodes and a gratifying ending to this beautiful journey.

Pakistan lost another legend s veteran actress Roohi Bano is no more. Roohi Bano is a name known to millions. She made a huge place for herself with her talent and will always be remembered as one of the greatest artists of the Pakistani entertainment industry.
Roohi Bano has been in a very bad state for quite some time now. She was suffering from schizophrenia and also spent some time at the Lahore Fountain House due to her illness. She suffered from the said disease after she lost her son. Roohi Bano was suffering from kidney failure and was also a patient of diabetes. With this episode the story moved forward slightly and this episode was definitely better than the previous one. Tonight, Safdar and Alia’s characters stood out more than any other. Ahsan Khan and Mawra Hocane’s performances made these characters more relatable as well as likable. So far, Alia is one of the few finely drawn characters in this play, who is constantly trying to fix all the broken people around her. This drama has many dysfunctional relationships and flawed characters, all of them are not appealing and the screen time has not been divided evenly. This episode would have been even better if Chammi and Jamil’s relationship would have been explored more.
Love vs Hate
The scenes in Mazhar’s house revealed a great deal about all the characters. The way Safdar immediately did whatever was needed in order to please Tehmina, more than his Maami, showed he was not like his father at all. Even though he knew that this was somehow going to be used against him, he went ahead and got Alia’s admission done. Mazhar’s wife has a big ego and she has been constantly competing with Safdar. She will prove to be the samaj ki dewar and no matter what Mazhar says, in this regard he might just be helpless. Tehmina is a shy and timid girl who will never be able to take a stand for herself. So far, Mawra’s performance is much better than that of Hira Mani. In this episode many of the scenes clearly suggested that both Alia and Tehmina were scared of the environment in their house particularly due to their mother’s controlling ways. Their mother reminded me of Ama Jaan who put her consent and principles before everything else. Alia has a different way of dealing with things. She deals with her mother tactfully and looks for solutions. Although she is younger than Tehmina but she seems to be wiser. Tehmina and Safdar’s love for each other was in complete contrast to the hatred her mother felt for Safdar. This track has a lot of similarities with that of Salma and it is highly likely that this love story might have a tragic ending too.
Complicated Relationships
The kind of relationship Jamil has with his father is even more complicated than that of Alia and Tehmina with their mother. It was almost as if he enjoyed going against his father’s will. While Chammi seems to be madly in love with Jamil, he is a lot like all the other men in his family – moody, distracted and perhaps selfish too. Sajal Ali in particular made her presence felt in that brief scene which is why I would love to see more of her. So far, there isn’t anything even remotely likable about Jamil but Ahad Raza Mir’s acting and his dialogue delivery in particular has been impressive. Azhar’s character is flat – his fixation with getting India freedom is the only aspect of his character which is covered in every single scene. Ama Jaan’s situation has drastically changed over the years. There was a time when her haveli was full of life and she was running the show but now she is lonely and miserable.
Overall Impression
Tonight’s episode had quite a few important developments to its credit. The most important one was that Mazhar finds out about Tehmina and Safdar. He gave his consent but will most likely not succeed in convincing his wife. Mazhar is open-minded and modern in some ways but he is dead against the British. Overall, this episode did have a few appealing aspects. I am curious to find out more about Jamil and Chammi at this point and very interested in finding out how Tehmina and Safdar’s track wraps up. If this drama picks up pace, it will be far more engaging. The preview of the next episode was interesting and I am definitely looking forward to it.
Ohkay so, this episode of Koi Chand Rakh seriously had me thinking ke in characters ka sabun slow hai kya? Why are all of them finding out the details & truth now after so much time has passed? Rabail just found out that it wasn’t Umair who showed his letters to Zain & Zain just found out that Nishal exagerrated everything. When Umair found out that Zain & Nishal were about to get married, why didn’t he immediately contact Zain to tell him the truth then & there?
Bunch of Bipolars:
Zain’s reactions to that letter has to be the most OTT thing of this drama, yes OTT-er than the makeup of all these actors combined. After Zain was done reading the letter, he immediately started loathing Nishal which had me thinking seriously if Zain was bipolar or his mother dropped him knocking his head on the floor when he was young because of which he was unable to pull his act together? What & why was Zain hating Nishal for? Zain started behaving as if Nishal hadn’t maligned his heart against Rabail, he would be leading a happily married life with her. How conveniently Zain was putting an entire blame on Nishal while completely forgetting that he was the one who was going all utawla in Nishal’s pyaar as well so he cheated on Rabail with his eyes wide open. He can not & should not blame Nishal for being a bad husband to Rabail. Yes, Zain did not find the happiness that he thought he would after getting married to Nishal but he better not use what she did in the past as an excuse to escape & find a way out of this marriage. It was ridiculous seeing how easily Zain forgot that he was an equal culprit too!
Another bipolar who made an appearance in this episode was Nafeesa who was blaming Nishal once again & started showing signs of sympathy towards Rabail. Did Nafeesa also forget that she facilitated this behaviour of Nishal & encouraged her to do what it takes to make Zain hers? Flawed & unbalanced characters & situations like these make the actual culprit look innocent & the rest like the actual culprits who do not own their mistakes & try to bail out scot-free as if they never once did something wrong. Also, how is it possible that none of them say final greetings before hanging up the phone? Nishal said she wanted a baby after hearing that Nafeesa put the phone down & so did Nishal? Allah Hafiz nahi kehna ata?
Everytime I hear Rabail, I am amusingly reminded of the bizarre face Zain made while dissing her philosophical conversations & dialogues. I get it, Rabail is intelligent & serious but why is she such a bore? Why can’t she reply to a simple question simply & not make it sound like kisi Urdu nazm ki tashreeh? Her philosophical dialogues forced me to turn to my phone because that was far more interesting than bland Rabail’s heavy falsafa. It is good that she has this confidence in herself that she can lead her life without the support of a man like Zain but so much falsafa bhai! Also, why didn’t anyone of them change clothes? Rabail went to do grocery, met Zain, came back, took Gulshan to the hospital, came back & the day was still bright & they all were in the same clothes. Did they suggest that so much happened the same day?
Zain decided to apologize to Rabail. I mean if it wasn’t for Umair’s letter, Zain would have never admitted his mistakes & now because he got a validation from another guy about Rabail’s piety, he decided to give her a status of his wife again? How shallow & selfish I must say. Good that Rabail didn’t budge but I am sure she won’t be able to stay firm because after a couple of praise-y words from Zain, Rabail was interested to hear more that is why she was like Aur? Duh!
Closing Thoughts – Imran Abbas Can Do So Much Better:
I have said this before but I will reiterate that whosoever is the makeup artist should be fired for life. What he did with Asma Abbas to make her look unwell is unforgiveable. Also, not to forget the fluctuating intensity of her dark circles that vanished one moment & the next moment struck like a storm around her eyes? Imran Abbas looked ghostly in some scenes & Ayeza Khan looked invisible due to the amount of Ivory paint stick that was painted all over her face. I think the editors love the OST way too much that is why they make sure to slow down the entire scene to let Rahat Fateh Ali Khan complete his stenza over & over again. It seriously gets on my nerves & I am not a big fan of the OSTs sung by RFAK anyways because when repeated they tend to become annoying & that is happening with Koi Chand Rakh’s over-used OST as well. Anyways, as someone who has spoken to Imran Abbas through her reviews during Khuda Aur Mohabbat & Yaar e Bewafa days, as someone who genuinely & truly respects Imran Abbas as an actor & as someone who sees him as this big star of our industry, after watching him in this episode, I am forced to genuinely ask…Imran Abbas ye appne kya kiya? Uf! He deserves to act in bigger better dramas, this doesn’t match his calibre honestly. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Koi Chand Rakh.
Ohkay so, a Hum TV drama Tawaan is written by Rahat Jabeen, directed by Syed Wahab Jaffri & produced by Momina Duraid Productions & it happens to be one of my favorite dramas of recent times. Since I enjoy watching Tawaan so much, I wanted to write about it because I didn’t want it to go unnoticed. Tawaan in simple words is a feel-good drama, even though it does come with its dose of sadness & fair share of melodrama but overall, the characters as well as the story make it a treat to tune to. At first I didn’t watch Tawaan so vigilantly, but later it grew on me & I found myself looking forward to its episodes every single week. Tawaan can be classified as a drama which is simple but is done really really well that is why it hits home for me.
Cast & Characters:
Tawaan is a story of revenge. Shehroz (Emaad Irfani) & Mahnoor (Hina Altaf) were cousins who were engaged to be married. Since they both had lived in a joint family system due to their mothers Tabinda (Sajida Syed) & Shabana (Hina Bayat) being sisters, Shehroz & Mahnoor shared a very strong bond which eventually took a form of love & that is when they decide to get married. Shehroz’s father Irfan (Munawwar Syed) happens to be a lawyer who later fights all the legal battles for his son when he lands himself in trouble.
Then we have Maryam (Moomal Khalid), daughter of Wajahat (Farhan Ali Agha) & Tahira (Fazila Qazi)Â who is engaged to Zaman (Asad Siddique). Maryam feels passionately about her social work & because of that she takes it as her duty to help anyone in need. Maryam & Zaman happen to be two different people. While being engaged to him, Maryam always feels this void in her heart which she thinks Zaman can not really fill. Zaman is conceited, arrogant & self-centred whereas Maryam is passionate, selfless & very giving sort of a person.
The Plot:
The night before Shehroz & Mahnoor’s wedding, Mahnoor tells Shehroz to take her for a ride & unfortunately, Zaman ends up hitting their bike & even though Maryam tells him to stop so that she can help them out, Zaman ends up running away. Mahnoor dies & that is when Shehroz’s entire life changes & that is when he decides that he will take revenge from the one who was responsible for Mahnoor’s death. What actually riles Shehroz up is Zaman’s attitude where he feels Zaman wasn’t regretful & showed absolutely no remorse. Maryam on the other hand is made to live in oblivion that Mahnoor did not pass away because that is what her family tells her while seeing her mental state after the accident. Unable to cope up with the loss of her daughter, Shabana loses her sanity & ends up in an old age home where she meets Maryam who tries to connect with her. Maryam finds out that Mahnoor passed away because they happened to school friends & Maryam visits her home to meet Mahnoor after her wedding only to find out that she passed away & the couple that met an accident with Zaman’s car was of Shehroz & Mahnoor. This further drifts Maryam away from Zaman but he doesn’t let go of her too easily.
Blinded by the revenge, Shehroz kidnaps Maryam to teach Zaman a lesson but then he can not bring himself to hurt her. Shehroz leaves her but that tag on Maryam for being missing for an entire night causes a dent on her image & tarnishes her reputation. Maryam parts ways with Zaman but being someone who cannot stand rejection, Zaman makes up stories to call off the engagement of Maryam with some other guy. Maryam then slowly gets to interact with Shehroz & after spending time with his family & Shabana, she starts seeing him differently. Maryam starts understanding Shehroz’s pain & the fact that he suffered from such a huge loss makes her have a soft corner for Shehroz in her heart. Eventually one thing leads to another & the entire scenario changes where Shehroz ends up being the one who saves Maryam from Zaman, he kind of does it to redeem himself & to make himself feel better because after kidnapping Maryam, Shehroz feels guilty.
Life changes completely & after facing rejection Maryam proposes to Shehroz, telling him to own up to his mistakes & undo all the harm that he had caused to her. Reluctantly Shehroz accepts & that is when Maryam’s parents especially her mother Tahira thinks she is making the worst decision of her life. Maryam who had made up her mind sticks to her decision & she & Shehroz get married. Shehroz’s parents who were always fond of Maryam support Shehroz & tell him to forget about the past & start afresh.
Slowly & steadily Maryam starts developing feelings for Shehroz but he lets her know that he can not give her a place in his heart because he still hasn’t forgotten Mahnoor & can not cheat on her. Maryam does everything to make Shehroz fall in love with her but unfortunately, Shababa doesn’t let Shehroz forget about Mahnoor.
Fast forward to now, since Shehroz felt Zaman wasn’t punished for killing Mahnoor & walked away scot free, he has now assigned himself the responsibility of ruining Zaman’s life & making him pay for what he did by taking away everything from him. It is unfortunate that Maryam’s love & devotion didn’t change his heart & he allowed Mahnoor’s untimely death cloud his judgment so much that he is unable to see that the path he is walking on is wrong. Even though at first I did feel for Shabana but unfortunately not anymore because she is someone who is making sure Shehroz doesn’t settle down with Maryam emotionally by forgetting about Mahnoor. Every time Maryam tried to make Shehroz forget about his past, Shabana guilt-tripped him as if he was committing a sin.
In Tawaan, the hero has turned into an anti-hero but still his reasoning & perspective is made clear which make his doings justified. I do understand that Shehroz wants Zaman to pay for what he did & he wants him to be remorseful but I find him completely wrong for the way he is treating Maryam, a girl who left everything, moulded herself as per his liking, someone who wholeheartedly accepted his family & showered them with love & kindness, who stood by his side when her own mother doubted his intentions, but still, she is not good enough for Shehroz, good enough for him to forget about his first love Mahnoor. Yes, Mahnoor died a tragic death but to literally ruin your life over someone who is not alive anymore is uncalled for.
I love the way the writer has written all the characters & the best thing about them is that they have kept the communication open. If it was some other drama Maryam would’ve never questioned Shehroz about what he was doing with Zaman but she did & this is the kind of relationship that she has shared with Shehroz right from the beginning where she was honest & open about her feelings & emotions. Same goes for all the other characters, Irfan never shies away from letting Shehroz know whenever he does something wrong, Tabinda always snubs Shabana & tells her to stop maligning Shehroz’s heart against Maryam. I love how everyone is just so honest & true to their feelings. I must also add, another one of my favorite aspects of Tawaan is the relationship that Tabinda & Irfan share, I love love loveee their banter & bickering. It makes their couple seem just so real & relateable, this is my most favorite part of any episode & I honestly look forward to their conversations.
I loved how they showed the initial stages of Maryam & Shehroz’s marital life. They shared some beautiful & very sweet moments together which was the highlight of this drama. I must say Moomal Khalid & Emmad Irfani make a beautiul on-screen couple & their subdued chemistry is simply amazing too. Also, I like how Maryam’s father Wajahat has always been the voice of reason in her life & gas supported her through thick & thin. It is nice to see a father daughter duo like Wajahat & Maryam where the father has this confidence & faith in his daughter’s choices & is wise enough to respect his her decisions. Maryam’s mother Tahira (just like Shabana) is another annoying character whose fixation with Maryam’s marriage in the initial episodes & hatred towards Shehroz in the later stages was bizarre.
Highly Recommended & A Must Watch:
Tawaan is a wholesome journey, it offers you so much & despite having its fair share of sad & grievous moments it actually is a feel good drama. I remember during the scene where Maryam tells her friend about how her married life is so far, I got teary eyed because of the niceness of that entire scenario & that was new for me because we never get Pakistani dramas like these lately where there is so much positivity that you actually shed a tear.
Tawaan has been well-directed & well-acted drama too. I love Moomal Khalid as Maryam, she is so graceful & perfect. She has done justice to this character who has so many shades, she can be polite but she has a voice, she will never allow anyone to walk all over her. She knows how to take a stand for herself & she maintains her dignity throughout. It is nice to see a character like Maryam who is so complete & sorted. Emaad Irfani never really convinced me with his acting in the past but in Tawaan, he has outdone himself. Trust me, if you haven’t watched Tawaan & are in a mood to binge watch any feel-good drama, then you must give Tawaan a go. Please share your thoughts about Tawaan & yes, I do intend to review it weekly till it lasts.
The tension between Pakistan and India has been sky-rocketing since some time. Due to this Pakistani artists were banned from working in India. Many stars like Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar were hit by the grave situation. Though Ali Zafar has been doing extremely great with his music being as popular as ever, his debut Pakistani movie Teefa In Trouble becoming a huge hit and what not. But the actor/singer recently shared a set back to a dream he had.
The singer’s famous song “Rockstar” was meant to be a part of Shahrukh Khan’s Zero. SRK had asked him if he could use the song. While talking to Bollywood Hungama Ali Zafar revealed that when he met SRK, he asked him that when he will get the chance to sing for him. SRK told him that he is playing a dwarf in his next film and would like to use Ali’s song Rockstar for it. Ali was all too happy for that to happen but the political relations and the resultant ban on Pakistani artists rendered the possibility impossible.
Well, the song may not have been used for the movie but Ali is still in a great phase of his career and it did not affect him much!
The Abbasis is also a constant family in the entertainment industry. Shamoon Abbasi and Javeria Abbasi have been a part of many memorable projects and are still going strong in the industry. The latest additions from the Abbasi family are Anoushey Abbasi who is the step sister of Javeria Abbasi and Anzela Abbasi who is Shamoon and Javeria’s daughter. Though they are aunt and niece by relation but look like sisters in all the photos.
Anzela and Anoushey are quite near in age and therefore they both are mostly seen hanging out and chilling together. They look more like sisters and friends than the real khala-bhanji relationship they have. Here ae some pictures of the duo having fun and clicking photos together:

Their wedding became the talk of the town for many reasons. It was beautiful and the couple was looking gorgeous was one reason while on the other side, a huge number of functions made people talk about it too. The actress took some time off then as she went for a honeymoon with husband Muneeb.

Another huge movie is announced for the year 2019 and this time we will see the very gorgeous Urwa Hocane in the producer’s chair. Urwa Hocane and Farhan Saeed’s new production company Shooting Star Studio has collaborated with ARY Films and they will be producing the movie named Tich Button. Earlier, it was confirmed that Farhan Saeed will be making his silver screen debut with Tich Button but now all the lead cast is announced and the movie will have Feroze Khan, Sonya Hussyn and the diva Iman Aly in the lead roles alongside Farhan Saeed.
This will be Feroze’s comeback to the cinemas after his debut film Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay opposite Sajal Aly. Sonya is ruling at this point with her career going the right way. The actress is already a part of Faysal Qureshi’s production Sorry-A Love Story while Iman Aly will be the crowd puller for everyone.

Project Ghazi was a passion project and created a lot of buzz when it was announced and the trailer came out. It was supposed to be Pakistan’s first super-hero movie. The film flaunts a stellar cast comprising of Shehryar Munawar Siddiqui, Humayun Saeed and Syra Shehroz in lead roles while Adnan Jaffar was playing the super-villain. It was the story of superhumans employed in an army unit. The film was getting a very positive response when suddenly its release was pulled when the movie did not receive a good response on the premier. Apparently, there was a clash between the director Nadir Shah and the producer. The film had so many technical difficulties and the sound was not right due to the lack of dubbing.
The film was pulled back which was originally scheduled to release on 14th July,2017. The good news is that the film will finally release this year reportedly on 22nd March on the occasion of Pakistan Day. Well, let’s see if the issues with the movie have been corrected or not over the two year delay!

The winters are the official wedding season in Pakistan. Everyone left and right is getting hitched and we have seen so many weddings this season that it has become impossible even to keep up with who is getting married and who is not. Well, another wedding took place recently and anchor and host Aleena Haroon who hosts a show Boojho To Jeeto on Lahore news tied the knot. Aleena visits different places in Lahore where she asks the visitors questions and they are given gifts if answer correctly. It is basically a fun road show.
Aleena Haroon oped for an uncharacteristic black lehenga mixed with red on her big day while wore white for her Walima. Check out the official wedding photographs of the happy couple:
A huge congratulations to Aleena on the new beginning in her life!
